Speaker 1 (00:50):
The Sixers and the Celtics are headed to Game seven.

Speaker 2 (00:54):
Doc Rivers not happy. The Nix and the Head headed
to Game six. Me not happy.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
The Lakers and the Warriors headed to Game six. The
whole world can't wait for that one. But we could
be on the cusp of seeing the first team qualify
for the conference finals because the Nuggets are all over
the Suns fifty four thirty eight right now in Phoenix
with about seven minutes to go before halftime. It has

(01:20):
been a big night so far for Nikola Jokic, and
I'm not lying. The biggest night is from Contavious Caldwell Pope,
who's he's got seventeen in the first quarter. He is
plus eighteen for the night. I mean, he's on his way.
He could top Kobe tonight. He might score eighty five.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
But this is where we talk about and did after
the trade. You know, you love the Suns because of
the firepower. They should just be able to shoot folks out.
Problem is these guys need to take a rest every
now and again, and the bench was depleted in the trade.
You look at the Denver squad and you mentioned KCP
plus eighteen, Jokic plus eighteen, the other three starters zero

(02:03):
plus one zero, the bench Green, Brown, and brawn plus
seventeen plus fifteen plus sixteen absolutely getting it done even
though they've only got six points. They've been helping to facilitate.
And you're looking at a Phoenix squad shorthanded and scoffland.

Speaker 2 (02:22):
Kevin Durant is one of eight from the field. He's
one of eight.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
He and Booker combined are three for sixteen from the
floor in this game. At a elimination game, a combined.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Three for sixteen.

Speaker 1 (02:37):
I'll tell you where I'm out of the Suns right
now before we'll get.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
To Ady let you down.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Right now that ye, yes, yes, the Suns are about
let's see, it's eight o'clock right now.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Another hour and a half.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
The Suns could be about seventy five to ninety minutes
away from being on my never again list.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
That I'm never gonna pick him again no matter.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
What, because all they do is always let me down,
so I'm never going to pick them again, right usc
the Raiders, Brazil and soccer, all these things I put
them I never again list. If they if they go
out tonight again, the Suns go on my never again list.

Speaker 2 (03:14):
You never kind of hate them all over a point
never again never never Never they get KD.

Speaker 1 (03:20):
They win a bunch of games and look where they're
they don't they don't even show up here in the
second round of the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (03:26):
This is you know, they really taunted you, truly kind
of unfair. They are really close to them. I never
never again, Like I'm never gonna pick him again, never,
never gonna they burn until next year.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
No, no, no, until they add one guy to the
bench and you say there's you're saying there's a chance.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Hey, they just got Jalen Brunson. No, uh no, I'm
not putting that out in the air. Take it back,
take it back? No, no, no, no, never again is
never It doesn't matter, no not doing it again.

Speaker 2 (03:51):
All you do is get added to this list. You
never come off it. That's why it's called never again.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Wish you weren't such a liar, You don't come off it. No,
I've never taken a team off my never again lift.

Speaker 2 (04:00):
Have you take the Knicks off of it? Every year?

Speaker 4 (04:02):
No?

Speaker 2 (04:02):
The Knicks Army never again list.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
The Knicks are well, you have done the I'm never
gonna believe in them again. And then they get excitable
they bring in Jalen Brons and you're like.

Speaker 1 (04:13):
That's a different list, like like the Knicks and the
Mets are I shouldn't but I can't help my self.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
List.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
That's the list there on the never again list is now.
You get on that list, you don't come off it.

Speaker 2 (04:23):
You don't.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
I don't care what happen. You're on that list. Right,
But is there a way can I win myself?

Speaker 4 (04:27):
No?

Speaker 2 (04:27):
Can I do some good deeds? And no?

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Is there any extra credit I could do? No, you
are on that list forever.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
I really thought you were gonna start quoting Russell from up. Hello,
my name is Russell. Hello, my name is Elder Harmon.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Well there's did you know that Phoenix didn't win again
this year against the Nuggets?

Speaker 2 (04:48):
Hello? Hello?

Speaker 3 (04:50):
Start talking about point spreads and doc Rivers stats and
then go into the Phoenix Suns and how they let
you down.

Speaker 2 (04:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
No, there's there's a lot of gold, a lot of
stuff to be mine there never again.

Speaker 1 (05:02):
They're they're close to being I never again list about
seventy five minutes away from being on my neck?

Speaker 2 (05:06):
How are they close? Because if they lose this game,
they lose the series. They've already lost a game. Well,
but it's still going? Is it still? Is it still? Ton? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (05:16):
Because I want to I want to give a team.
I don't want to say I quit on them. I
want to say again, name every single chance.

Speaker 2 (05:21):
No, you can quit on them. It's okay.

Speaker 1 (05:22):
No, I mean after well, after watching that fast break
and watching the ball get thrown out of bounds as
easy as it was.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
It's kind of hard, I mean on the next weeks ago.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
But he's already quit on the Mets liked talking about
all we stink.

Speaker 2 (05:36):
We can't. We're playing the worst teams in base dude.
We we lost on an today.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
Yeah, but you're bad. Your team is bad. We spent
three hundred and thirty million dollars just so, doesn't mean
you didn't spend it terribly. Come on, man, I mean, look, hey,
we spent a lot of money on guys too. Hey,
these guys are going to be just like the Braves.
Let's lock them up early.

Speaker 2 (05:55):
We played, we.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
Played against some of the worst teams in baseball. We've
lost five series and row. I mean, come on, man,
we just lost to the Reds. We're gonna play the Nationals.
They'll probably sweep us tomorrow. And just remember, guys, four
of those wins were against the Ace. Yeah no, no,
never again list his sons can get on that list.

Speaker 2 (06:15):
They can get it never again listed. It's a final.

Speaker 1 (06:17):
Oh yeah, sons can be there, Suns sixty two forty
five right now four and after to go.

Speaker 2 (06:21):
Oh yeah, sons can be on that list.

Speaker 2 (06:38):
Well.

Speaker 1 (06:38):
Meanwhile, the other big NBA news from today is Laker
fans and NBA fans breathe a sigh of relief. Anthony
Davis is probable for Game six against the Warriors. He
did not enter concussion protocol and is expected to play
this according to Darvin Ham earlier today, quote, He's feeling great.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
Our medical staff gave us a great update.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
He's not showing any signs of anything after he got
struck in the side of the head by elbow by
Kevon Looney. This clearly would have been able to tilt
the Western Conference semis in the way of the words
because you look taken a d out man, that's gonna
be it. But the fact he's gonna play tomorrow night awesome.

Speaker 4 (07:17):
Now.

Speaker 1 (07:17):
I can't help this because you know, I'm suspicious by nature,
But really, did you ever really think he was gonna
enter concussion?

Speaker 3 (07:24):
Did you ever really think he was gonna I mean
the way Mark Medina laid it out yesterday when you're
talking A it's a week before he can really do anything. Nope,
I don't think anybody bought it. And I hope he's well, right,
I really do. I hope he's fine. I'm not gonna
go down the road of mocking and calling out all
those national hosts going all the way back to the
post game that were laughing at the situation.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
You get hit in the head, I'll bets are off.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
Draymond was talking about it on his podcast, like you
don't you don't know, like it seemed innocuous, but if
it hits just the right spot and bad things happen,
and that's that's where.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
So I hope he's okay.

Speaker 3 (08:01):
I'm hoping he's ready to go, but it's a At
no point did I ever think that he would get
into the official concussion protocol. We've been around this too
long and I'm just too damned cynical now.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
And you know, and I want to say this about
Anthony Davis.

Speaker 1 (08:15):
You know, we mentioned this very briefly at the very
end of the show last night, but it bears talking
about again now now that he's going to play.

Speaker 2 (08:22):
Is that Anthony Davis is a guy.

Speaker 1 (08:25):
After seeing him play, now we've seen him many times
get hurt in the game where you think, oh man,
that's it.

Speaker 2 (08:30):
He's in pain.

Speaker 1 (08:31):
He's off the floor, he's into the locker room, he's
being examined, and you think this could be it. It
didn't look good, it didn't And then five minutes later,
oh look, Ady's back out of the floor and he's
playing right. But that's kind of everything that's happened. Every
time Anthony Davis is hurt. This is how he responds.
He looks like he's in a lot of pain. He

(08:52):
leaves the floor immediately and he.

Speaker 2 (08:54):
Goes to get checked out.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
And now that I've seen this for a fair period
of time, I understand the kind of athlete that AD is.
And it's weird because we get all this AD doesn't
care a d' is this eighty is that some players
are wired that if they roll over their ankle, they
get up and they stay in the game.

Speaker 2 (09:14):
Right there, I you know, I'm I.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
Just need to run on this a little bit, right,
I just need to get back up and down the floor.

Speaker 2 (09:21):
My ankle is gonna be okay. This is what I
need to do.

Speaker 1 (09:23):
And and guys stay in the game, and they try
to tough it out, and they do that. That's just
the way a lot of players are wired. A D
seems like he's wired differently in which when he gets
injured or he recognizes pain or something, he's a full stop, Hey,
wait a minute, something could be wrong, right, because that

(09:43):
did definitely, because that's how I am. Hey, the immediate
sense and sense where I recognize pain. I thought, who wha?

Speaker 4 (09:49):
Whoa?

Speaker 2 (09:49):
Whoa? Sounds Wait? Wait wait wait wait wait wait? What
happened there? What happened to my foot? Here? Hang on?
Hang on?

Speaker 1 (09:53):
What's going on? Oh no, I don't try as a tune.
You're in touch with your body. I test it right, Wait,
I recognize pain immediately. He's one of those guys that
when something happens, it's hang on, full stop. I want
to go get this looked at and taken care of,
and if I can play, I'll go back out there.

Speaker 2 (10:15):
That's kind of who.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
AD is because that's how every one of his injuries.
It follows the same sort of pattern. He's hurt, it
looks bad, he's down, he gets up, he immediately comes
off the floor. He doesn't try it tough and I'm
not saying he's a bad guy. It needs to be tougher.
He's someone who would recognize, all right, I'm a bigger guy.
My body, I you know, the skill.

Speaker 2 (10:36):
Set I have.

Speaker 1 (10:37):
I do different things. I'm running a lot more than
the other big men do. I take more threes. I'm
out around the perimeter more. I'm garden steph on the
perimeter when it comes down to a big play at
the end of the game. But when I think I'm hurt,
I'm stop. I want to look at this and make
sure everything is okay. And that and watching him last
night the way the concussion story of look, he goes

(11:00):
off on a wheelchair. I'm not feeling good, Give me
a wheelchair. And I know the guy's NBNT and T
are laughing at him, but it's like the dude wasn't
feeling it, man, and he didn't want to walk or
fall down. So yeah, you laugh on of being in
a wheelchair. But that's what he thought he needed at
the time, right. He just wanted to get into the
locker room and get looked at. And then he left
the game, and he left under his own power. And
Dave mcmanhamon, you know Lakers reporter for ESPN put the

(11:23):
video out of him leaving the game very normal, walking normal,
not It didn't look like he was listing, moving slowly
but methodically and deliberately.

Speaker 2 (11:32):
Right, you know, he didn't look like he was in pain.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
Jo didn't have any doctors right around, did and have
someone helping him.

Speaker 2 (11:37):
He looked like he was okay.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
And I'm saying to myself this was Hey, I don't know, man,
I'm not feeling good right now. Let's go get this
looked at. Heyy thin can go back out there? No,
I don't think I can go back out there. For
the last two or three minutes, I really don't feel
like myself, and then it takes a little bit of
time and then you feel like yourself. But you know,
the game was over and they were losing by ten,
so look, it happens. But that's kind of that's kind

(12:00):
of who ad is, you know, see it. He's not
one of He's just not wired to be that. Hey,
I'm hurt. I can stay in the game and do
it right. Not everybody is Kobe. I'll tear my achilles
and shoot free throws and then try to come out.

Speaker 2 (12:11):
Of the game.

Speaker 1 (12:12):
No, He's just Hey, when I feel like something is
is and I'm injured, I could be injured. I don't
want things to get worse. I need to come out
and get this looked at right away. And there's nothing
wrong with that. And I would you know, saying this,
I hope that people can understand a little bit more
of the philosophy and the thought that goes behind how
players react when they feel they're injured when they get

(12:34):
hurt on the court. Not everybody reacts the same way,
but that seems to be the pattern for Anthony Davis.
I got to get a look at it, and if
I can come back, I come back out.

Speaker 2 (12:42):
Yeah. I mean, it's just a tough thing.

Speaker 3 (12:43):
And you know, everybody's a tough guy when it's somebody else, right,
it's the old Hey, it's only minor surgery. If it's
happening to you, if it's on me, I'm calling everybody.
I'm making sure I made my piece, talking to the
you know, anesthesiologists. Make sure we're all good and everybody's
on the same page. All right, show me the game

(13:04):
plan again before you put me under. But sir, we're
just doing you know, we're just taking your tonsils out.
I don't care. We've done this a million times. Well
you know what, you haven't done it on me, you
know that kind of thing. But if it's somebody else like, ah,
come on, suck it up. So same thing here with
Anthony Davis and so many other players, like we have
no idea. And when you're seven feet tall, knees and

(13:26):
ankles and all those things, we talk about how things
go quickly with your feet all the way up. But
any kind of head injury if you don't at least
pause and take it seriously. And that's any player, I mean,
your kidd and yourself. So to mock it is just silly.
But the fact that he's got the history he does

(13:47):
meant that people were out for blood. The poison pens
and acid tongues were ready.

Speaker 5 (13:52):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific's Radio.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
The Jason Smith's Show with My best friend Mike Harmon.
Now maybe the Suns are about an hour away from
being on my never again list.

Speaker 2 (14:10):
Halftime, Wow, you really screwed them.

Speaker 1 (14:12):
The Nuggets lead the Suns eighty one to fifty one.
It's a thirty point definit Sons are getting boot off.

Speaker 2 (14:20):
Their home court as they deserve to be.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
Oh boy, Kevin Durant and Devin Booker are combined six
twenty three from the floor today.

Speaker 2 (14:29):
We're never gonna lose again. Oh man. We'll have more
on this game coming up in a few minutes. Again
my never again. Less.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
They could be about an hour away, but joining us
now on the hotline. He is an author of seven books.
It's actually four books, but he cut a few into
part ones and part twos.

Speaker 2 (14:47):
He gets credit for seven.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
He is a Hall of Very Good voter and has
been a Hall of Very Good voter for the past
few years. He has a longtime NFL insider and is
a longtime friend of the show.

Speaker 4 (15:01):
Jordan loves how easy.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
No one better to talk to on NFL's schedule release
day to tell me how many wins for the Jets.

Speaker 2 (15:09):
Then Jason Cole, Jake Cole, what's happening, buddy.

Speaker 4 (15:13):
Over under five and a half? Five and a half?

Speaker 2 (15:16):
Yes for the first.

Speaker 4 (15:24):
Could you imagine if they lose five games or less?
What it's going to be like for you.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
If they lose five games or less? Or if they
win five no.

Speaker 4 (15:33):
They if they win five games or fewer, what the
season is going to be? Like?

Speaker 2 (15:39):
You think I haven't seen seasons like this?

Speaker 4 (15:41):
Come on, man, oh no, no, no, no, no, not
after Rogers. If you have Rogers, okay, and you if
you have, you're going to be screaming ragives for like
six months if they win five games or fewer. Of
the hell that is going to be released upon you
on this radio program is going to be ridiculous. I will,

(16:03):
I will taunt you relentlessly every front.

Speaker 2 (16:06):
I shall taunt you a second time.

Speaker 4 (16:09):
You can just stick dog.

Speaker 2 (16:13):
So who got screwed? Worst? Though? Out of the gate?

Speaker 3 (16:15):
They've got the pretty rough Hall the first few weeks,
and then you got the Giants playing seven of the
first ten games.

Speaker 2 (16:20):
On the road.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
Yeah, well that's like you remember the way back when
the Jets had were they sharing a stadium with the Mets. Yeah,
where they were They were playing at Shay right, and
the contract allowed that that if the Mets made the postseason,
the Jets had to move their games around. There was
like a season I think they played seven of their

(16:43):
first eight games on the road sometime in the seventies,
like some of the some of the early years that
some of the Jets season schedules in the seventies are
just amazing. How difficult they were with their row, their
road road home splits. It was. It's a stunning thing

(17:04):
to look at.

Speaker 1 (17:05):
Yeah, but look, but I feel okay about this, even
though the schedule is so bleeping hard out of the gate.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
It's because we have the quarterback now to match up.
It's all Zach Wilson.

Speaker 1 (17:14):
Versus Thoughts, Dak Prescott, Zach Wilson, Josh Allen No, no,
now it's Aaron rott Urts, all these guys.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
Yeah, but a year ago, you were talking about Zach's
got it ready, he's going, He's ready. This is the
year it's all going to come together. This is what's
going to happen. Like, that's what you were saying a
year ago. You weren't talking about Zach Wilson. Oh my god,
that's Zack Wilson was still our guy. It was still
that was what you were doing a year ago at
this time.

Speaker 2 (17:42):
No, I think you're wrong. I think I think you're wrong.
I was.

Speaker 4 (17:45):
It was a number two overall pick and you didn't
care about him at all.

Speaker 2 (17:48):
Of that, right, you know me, I think I said,
maybe we go with Mike White. I mean, call me crazy.
Maybe that's the guy.

Speaker 4 (17:55):
Maybe after after week three.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
But it doesn't matter because that we got Rogers, and
it doesn't matter all these games where oh we have
such a deficit a quarterback the Jets check you know
gets The thing is like you would watch like, uh, you're.

Speaker 4 (18:09):
Not excited about the Jets the Jets quarterbacks like this
since what Pennington?

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Yeah, Pennington in two thousand and two. Yeah, it's about
Pennington no two?

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (18:20):
Or Ryan Fitzpatrick up until the fourth quarter against the
Bills in twenty sixteen.

Speaker 2 (18:24):
Okay, So uh is that.

Speaker 1 (18:26):
Every game you would look at like the way they
used to break down who's favorite in a game, there
would be the two teams and the columns that would
say who has the who has the edge of quarterback
running back?

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Right?

Speaker 1 (18:36):
And watching the Jets would be their advantage on defense, Jets,
running game, Jets, Uh, you know, wide receiver Jets.

Speaker 2 (18:44):
But the big check mark would always be quarterback. The
other team, always other team. Now we're going to get
some check marks in our in our bracket for that.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
Jacoble, that's what you've been looking for not victories check mark.

Speaker 2 (18:57):
It begins with the first step.

Speaker 4 (18:59):
Yes, you want to feel good going into the game.
That's all you want. You don't really care what the
result is. But if we're favorites going in, that's like
a victory for Jets fans, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (19:10):
Yeah, we put a banner up favorite in five games.

Speaker 4 (19:18):
I got to say the Monday night opener in week
one is that's an awesome opener, you know, nine to
eleven Monday Night bills Jets, Like that's a great, great game.
That really is that really is awesome? And I would
say I kind of like the you know, I know
we're six months away or whatever it is, eight months away,

(19:39):
you know the Jets.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
That's not so badly three months away, right, we got June, July, August,
and then we're there.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
With wherever we are. Four months away, you know.

Speaker 1 (19:49):
Eight months away, eight months from the new year, from
the new year.

Speaker 4 (19:54):
Sorry, I'm eight months away from I think it's the
final Thursday Night game. I can look this one up
because I was looking at what are they going to
do to al Michaels this year?

Speaker 3 (20:04):
He's got selling me blenders in the third quarter. What
are you talking about that's bad, rightly, But he has.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Al Michaels in the last game of the season, has
Jets at Brown's December twenty eighth. How miserable is that
going to be for him?

Speaker 2 (20:24):
He may walk off middle of the broadcast. Look, I
can't take this anymore. I gotta go. You take this,
You take it, you take it.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
What they did do is they did give him a
gift on December fourteenth. They've got him in Vegas. I
wonder if he'll go a few days early. Yeah, I
just wonder. Do you think do you think al might
go a few days early to that game? Like show
up on I'll be watching the Sunday games in one
of the books right there, and then just spend Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday,
you know, getting ready for the game in the book?

(20:53):
Could that possibly happen?

Speaker 1 (20:56):
Alice there with our advanced scouts. Wow, I can't believe
you're so all right?

Speaker 2 (21:00):
Then that's pretty good? All right?

Speaker 3 (21:02):
I want to read from page thirty thirty of your
new book called shut Up Your Kid's not that great?
Tagged Also, maybe check yourself on him playing a mobster
at age ten. Yeah, does a good job of saying
a little bit nicely done. It's a fun book. I
appreciate your latest. People can find it on Amazon, where

(21:25):
the al for aforementioned Al Michaels will be calling games
over the course of the year.

Speaker 4 (21:30):
Absolutely am. I think if I get Al to talk
about the book during one of these games, that's all
together possible because like Bears Commanders, I should send him
a copy of the book because that that will work
nicely into something some the dead time of the Bears Commanders.

Speaker 2 (21:45):
They no.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Instead, he just has like the Alan Michaels book Club,
and that's what.

Speaker 4 (21:52):
When the Commanders are on offense, that will be dead
time when the Bears aren't offense, like Justin Field's with
this schedule. I'm liking this. I'm liking the Bear's chances
this year.

Speaker 2 (22:03):
I like that you sell sell sell, Do.

Speaker 4 (22:08):
We sell it, sell itsell?

Speaker 2 (22:10):
Do we owe you sandwiches?

Speaker 5 (22:11):
Now?

Speaker 1 (22:11):
Because you were saying nice things? You love the Jets
this year, you like the Bears. Do we owe you something?
Because this like never happens.

Speaker 4 (22:17):
Do you hear how many sandwiches you owe me from
I've been doing this gig for free for like eighty
six years. Hear how many sandwiches? Yeah? It is. I've
been it's been longer than radio is actually existed. But yeah,
you owe me a lot of sandwiches. We got it.
I've got claim check said at part DELI just they're

(22:38):
waiting for me to show up. Actually, we should meet
like one night before your show and dis forge ourselves
up to strowm me, that would be awesome.

Speaker 2 (22:46):
I'm on down. Yeah, I like that idea. I feel I.

Speaker 1 (22:50):
Want to and you got to say good things about
the Jets. There's both those things. We'll do both those things.

Speaker 4 (22:55):
Look, I am looking forward to a wonderful game season,
has that Yeah, I think I think this is this
is going to be fun to see how Aaron Rodgers
when after he shows up for half the preseason or
half half of the off season, you know how he does?
You know, that's what that's what I want.

Speaker 1 (23:17):
I know.

Speaker 4 (23:18):
You know he's he's really half in on this year.
He's half him.

Speaker 1 (23:22):
No, he's all he's done, already done more of this
offseason with the Jets.

Speaker 2 (23:26):
In the last five years with the Packers.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
No, that's not exactly true, but absolutely true.

Speaker 2 (23:34):
But the last two, the last two, maybe maybe three.

Speaker 4 (23:40):
How did you react because you weren't you weren't on
last week, you took another one of your off days.
What do you have like your ear time his off
days and so yeah, so when you heard him say
I'll be there for at least half of the off
season program, your reaction was, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
The offensive half, easy to be there for the defensive half.

Speaker 3 (24:05):
Just now, Jake Cole, let me rewind it you week one,
what did you think when you saw the Lions were
the opening opponent for the Chiefs? That would kind of
arrow me for a little bit of a loop there.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
It's a little bit, but you know, it's actually kind
of a cool game in some ways, all right, because
Dan Campbell on a Thursday night opener, that could be
I mean, he may he may run out onto the
field naked. I mean we're not just talking about when
you know, you know, through Detroit naked, if they win,

(24:40):
if they win a division title. We're talking about for
an opener against Andy Reid. Absolutely, this is a Dan
Campbell moment. I'm loving that. I'm loving this one. And
quite honestly, from a football perspective, the Lions, if they're
going to run as much as they ran last year,
and obviously with the running back that they took their
their planning on going heavy again. Right. That's a tough

(25:03):
test for the Chiefs in opening week because Spagnolo is
not a guy who likes to hit a lot during
training camp and likes to start out really basic, okay,
and so you tend to get a lot of mistackles
and bad fits by the Chiefs defense. If you've watched
over over the last however many years Bags has been there,

(25:24):
which is what six years now, the early season is
a little rough for them. So if Detroit, you know,
can pound it a little bit, this becomes kind of
an interesting game, and it's a game that can be
played in the thirties. And the last thing I want
to note is Jared Goff, Like I still think that

(25:47):
he has, you know, a little bit of shock from
when he got chewed out by Andy Reid in that
Chiefs Rams game, you know, that Monday night game that
was what fifty one whatever it was, Like you remember
when I remember when Reid just went after him in
the middle of the game when he came over to

(26:07):
question a call, Like, I think he was really scared
of Andy Reid in that game. And so I want
to know, like if Andy goes over and barks at
Jared Goff early in the game. How's he going to react?
That's what I want to.

Speaker 2 (26:19):
Know, swinging breaker.

Speaker 3 (26:26):
Hey, come on, that would that not be the greatest
response ever?

Speaker 2 (26:28):
That would be pretty m That's better than Don Zimmer,
Pedro Martinez.

Speaker 1 (26:32):
Come on, that's more of a Dan Campbell response than
I mean, that's a Dan Campbell response.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
I could see that, yes, But I think this game's
faun I think, you know, I know people are shocked
by you know, lines on on Thursday night opener, and
obviously you know, they're trying to set it up for
Casey to you know, have a little coronation on that
Thursday night game. But that's a tougher out than than
people think. I don't think it's just a layup for

(26:59):
the Chiefs. If people are believing that.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
Hey, and never say anything is impossible, when the first
game of the season and the first Monday night game
of the season feature the Lions and the Jets, nothing
is impossible.

Speaker 2 (27:14):
You can achieve. Yeah, that's your next book.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Cole are on their own, They're in their own time
slots by themselves. Think about think about the odds you
would have gotten in Vegas on that one. That's like
ten thousand to one or something like that. That the
Jets and the Lions would be playing solo spots and
t spots in meaningful games in any week of the

(27:39):
NFL season, that would have been just impossible. How about
in Tottenham this year? And I do like this one
Jacksonville and Buffalo. Yeah, that's fun, like an actual overseas
game that isn't just like an extended.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
Practice Jacksonville with a mini homestand there with the two exists.

Speaker 2 (27:59):
They're Europe's team Jacksonville. There are your Epstein.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
Yeah, we did find out that they're going to lose
that stadium for two years while they're doing renovations, so
they may be over there a little more frequently.

Speaker 4 (28:10):
Uh oh well, yeah, they might be there for a
little while. I mean like that was always the the
crazy dream of the NFL. We will get the Jags
to move to London. They're not no NFL teams moving
to London because there's no way that you know, a
bunch of twenty something kids from Alabama are ever going
to be in London for an extent period time. It's

(28:32):
just not working. Sorry, that's just not going to happen.

Speaker 1 (28:35):
You can follow on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two.
That is at Jason Cole sixty two. Check out his

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Well, hey, I go off your Twitter account, that says
author of seven books.

Speaker 2 (28:56):
I know, so that's your own fault. I know, that's
your own faults.

Speaker 4 (29:02):
That's fair, Okay, very good.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Alright bye, Ja kabb j kall No, no, that's fair.
That's fair.

Speaker 2 (29:24):
Well dressed Cobo, Sue.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
All right, now, Denver leads Phoenix by twenty five six
and a half to.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Go in the third quarter. I can't even try to
sell it at this point. It's hard. It's hard to sell.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
But we'll continue to have more on this game, likely
as we talk about the Nuggets and the Western Conference Finals.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
But speaking of the Nuggets.

Speaker 1 (29:44):
Big controversy today involving ESPN broadcaster Mark Jackson, former NBA star,
who we find out, it turns out, was the one
guy who left Nikola Jokic off his MVP ballot. Big
controversy that last night we talked about Nicola Jokic, one
guy didn't vote for, didn't put Jokic on.

Speaker 2 (30:04):
The ballot at all. That's ridiculous.

Speaker 1 (30:06):
And we find out today when the NBA released the
voter selections that it was Mark Jackson. Wait a minute,
Mark Jackson, way, No, did not have Nikola Jokic on
his list. He had five players ahead of him, including
Jalen Brunswick. No, he had five players had him, including
Donovan Mitchell. And when he was asked about it today,
after he got a whole bunch of bad criticism, Mark

(30:28):
Jackson apologized and said, look, I made an honest mistake
with my MVP votes. He thought he was voting for
all NBA teams instead of MVP. He said, quote, I'm thinking,
how did I make that mistake? I don't understand how
I did it. So basically what he says is I screwed.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
Up my ballot. That's excuse. You know what I'm sorry. No,
that's a load of crap.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Anytime somebody says, oh, I screwed up the bit, stop man,
it's like it's like, that's what I expect when you
hear players say, oh, I didn't know that the peds
were in the the over the counter supplements I was
taking from GNC.

Speaker 2 (31:07):
Oh I had no idea what was in there. I
had no idea. I had no idea.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
Come on, man, you know how to fill out a ballot.
You know how to fill out you get MVP, baut
Mark chat. Not the first time you had MVP ballot, right,
not first time you've had all all NBA vote, not
the first time.

Speaker 2 (31:19):
But oh, you screwed it up, really really really you
screwed it up.

Speaker 1 (31:23):
I mean, this is just someone who you know what,
I guarantee you this was just careless, was just careless
and wasn't even and did this.

Speaker 2 (31:31):
In like a minute. Oh I gotta vote.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Yeah, okay, yeah, he's gonna be my first center. He's
gonna be this he's yes, yes, yes, but yeah no
he's on MVP and done.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
And I had it. And this is why it's hard
to put stock in in in.

Speaker 1 (31:44):
Votes for MVP, because sometimes people do it just like this,
like oh, I, oh, it was a mistake, And yeah,
it's a mistake because I guarantee he did it in
like a minute and was just something for him to do.
Didn't take the gravity of the situation in could you
know players have all kinds of stuff in their contracts.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
Where I get all kinds of money.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
Here, I following first team all NBA seconds, if I
win MVP, top five of me, all these things, and
I guarantee you he just filled it out in like
eight seconds and just oh, I blanked on putting yokichin
because I didn't really work hard at it, and he's
trying to oh, yeah, no, this is how I did. Oh,
you've never seen a ballot before. That's a load of crap, Well,
a couple of things. I mean, you don't get to
vote for everything. He just absolutely confused on what he

(32:24):
actually get to vote on. I mean that just seems
asinine to me. On a whole other level. You lose
your vote on principle if you don't actually know what
you're voting for. But you know, going forward after this year,
we get into the positionless NBA where you can have
as many centers as you want, so I guess you
could lend some credence to it up.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Well, I already picked my center.

Speaker 3 (32:46):
Still, it's stupid on a million levels because you were
trusted and you're on one of the top teams broadcasting
these things. There's something that goes to the responsibility of
actually knowing what the hell you're doing or some credibility
therein And you talk about the all NBA teams. They
look at what the Celtics and they now if two
guys are gonna be eligible for almost seven hundred million

(33:08):
dollars in contracts based on the voting.

Speaker 2 (33:10):
So yeah, it's a big deal. We'll have more on
this story coming up next.

Speaker 1 (33:15):
More in the Big Night in the NBA and why
I should deserve credit if a team goes to the
conference finals.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
That's next right here, Fox Cleveland
