(00:51):
of NFL Free Agency in the books at hey, everything
is going according to script. Yesterday we had Sam Darnold,
we had Justin Fields, okay, great, Today we had Daniel Jones. Yeah,
tomorrow I'm sure we'll get Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson
and there's and then we're off right, and that's gonna
be the whole week that we're moving on Hey, they're
figuring out a way to not have all the quarterback
news break on Monday. Hey, we got it all gone

(01:13):
some Monday, some Tuesday, some Wednesday, maybe a little bit
maybe on Thursday. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if
we get one quarterback situation tomorrow, because the whole thing
with Aaron Rodgers is that the Jets still have to
release them, right, and they're not gonna release them until
tomorrow because they want to spread the capit out over
two years and want to like twelve like whatever it

(01:34):
is this year and then then have the biggest the
cap pits next year. So they have to do that.
And since there's been really nothing with Rogers, I wonder
if it's gonna be a case of he gets released
and right after it's Aaron Rodgers is a stealer or
Aaron Rodgers is a giant. Like I really wonder if
that's gonna happen that way, if it's gonna be as
soon as he gets released, bang, five minutes later, it's

(01:57):
he's an ex Jet. Now he's a Steeler. Get ready,
get ready for that Jet Steelers game on Monday night,
Football Week one of the twenty twenty five season, it's
justin Fields and Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Let's go, well, it would be.

Speaker 4 (02:08):
Better than the old graphics like they were showing when
the Steelers and Patriots played a couple of years ago.
Here's Tomlin and Belichick. We don't have players on either team.
We want to showcase at least they have that going
for us. But all of it to say, look, I
hope they drag it out as long as they can,
because really what happens the longer you talk about Aaron

(02:29):
Rodgers certain fraction of our media world they get really
frustrated because they don't want to talk about Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (02:36):
There's a residual hate.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
Maybe he snub them for an interview request at some point,
or maybe they just don't like the idea that we
are not alone in the universe.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (02:46):
Whatever the case is, it seems to vex people greatly,
or they want to really start getting their.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Victory laps and parades in.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
If he were suddenly to not have a chair when
the music stopped, I think I think it's good theater
between him and Russell Wilson. That takes up a lot
of people's brain space.

Speaker 1 (03:05):
Oh that's the rest of the week, man, that's we're good.
Now we got The rest of the week is gonna
Russell Wilson. That's it. Now we're done. The rest of
the week. We're all fall fied. That's all we need.
The rest of the week is Rogers and.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
Wilson gets us through.

Speaker 4 (03:17):
I mean smattering of other big news that that'll float out,
no question about it. Uh but but yeah, let's let's
drag it out. And NFL doing a great job. And
I believe you did a good job, just like when
we were talking with Mark Medina yesterday and you really
danced around the idea of whether Lebron was saying, hey,
blank you guys, let me show you what Luca looks

(03:39):
like when I'm not there and I'm gonna come back
to the rescue after this, you know, slash load management. However,
whichever of that path you wanted to take, in that
you're doing the same thing here saying that there are
some collusive effects here. Is that kind of what you're
hitting at. Hey don't announce that today, guys. We need
to we need to hold something back for good.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
I'd be just like your favorite shirt. No I don't
want to wear it. I'm holding it back for good
right now.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
No, hey, man, the colors, I can't do that. It's
bright sunlight out there. You know what this does hold about?
You know, we need a whole week of news cycle.
Come on, you know what's going on here. We can't
have Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson signed the same day.
Come again, have that man, come on the old rest.

Speaker 1 (04:25):
We'll get We'll get one Wednesday, We'll get one Thursday. Hey,
and then Friday is the whole week in review. That's
what Yeah, that's all it is. It's like finals week.
You take a final every day and then the last
day week in review.

Speaker 3 (04:36):
So we can review now with Jason Smith.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
Now, how about a couple of big hot takes coming
off the first few days of NFL free agency number one?
You know, and this is something we talked about at
this time last year and for the few months around
March April May, how much we loved what the forty
nine ers were doing. Right, they said, we have one
more run in us. Let's give all the guys we

(05:00):
need to give money to. Let's give money to I
know we have nine guys making over fifteen million dollars
a year. Let's go for it, right, this is our
super Bowl window. We have to worry about paying brock
Purty really soon. How many more years can we get
all this talent together. Let's keep Deebo Samuel, Let's keep
Brandon Ayuk, Let's just keep rolling. Let's make this a

(05:20):
super bowler bus season. And then what happened didn't happen
for San Francisco, right, but it was okay. They were
gutsy and you figure it out after. I love the
moves then, but now this is the reality of it,
right you You went in for it for a big run,
and now this era of the forty nine ers is over.
This roster is being gutted of players who are big

(05:43):
time players, right. You know you go for yesterday when
Telenoah Hufanga left and Travarius Ward left, he left for
the Colts, and the Broncos not only get Hufanga, they
get Drake Greenlaw as well. Banks goes to the Packers,
Jalen Moore to the Chiefs. You know they released hard
and Collins and used check gone and all the how
sad it was Guy's a nine time pro bowler who

(06:06):
now has gone. Leonard Floyd left and he this is a.
This is a big blood letting, and they still have
big names to get rid of. Like this is not like,
oh this is done. They still have big names to
get rid of. And you know, and don't forget you
let Deebo Samuel go already. So that's out. You got, Brandon?
Are you coming back off a big injury? Like this

(06:26):
era of the forty nine ers is kind of over
and and not that it's going to be a complete
and total rebuild, but this is gonna be one of
those Sandwich years sandwich here where Okay, we had the
first three or four years uh with this with this
team in the brock Purty era, and now we're going
to have a tough year before we sort of hit

(06:49):
our new normal and get back to things a year
from now, right, because we got to get out from
under this money. You know, they're still signing a couple
of free agents, which which which is fine. But they've
lost so much. I mean, they just have lost so
much from this team and and now you say, okay,
so what's it gonna be. This is gonna be a
tough year. They might they might finish last in the
in the NFC West. I mean, it might be them

(07:10):
in Seattle battling out for last place in the NFC West,
and and it might be another year until they really
get back to being a team. Hey, they can do
something now. Brock Perty is a good quarterback, he still
has a weapons, still got Christian McCaffrey. Okay, that's great,
but this is clearly not the super Bowl team they
walked into last fall with. And again they're not done.
There's still other guys that they have to restructure or

(07:32):
we work or just let go to try to figure
things out. Right, Like I thought for sure, Oh, Joey
Bosa is gonna sign with the forty. They're gonna figure
out he's gonna that'll be their one big sign. Nope, nope,
Joey Bosa goes to the Bills. Wait a minute, Wait
a minute. They couldn't figure that out. Really could couldn't
figure that out. You couldn't figure out Joey Bosa for
one year and ten million dollars. I mean, this era
of the Niners, what we've seen them the last three

(07:52):
four years, this era of excellence that was a super
Bowl and you know, one or two plays away from
winning it. That era is done now and it's going
to be a year of figuring out the new normal
before they get back to being competitive.

Speaker 3 (08:04):
Yeah. I mean one of the headlines.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
Nod to wink to those who know Mike Silver had
with Bosa, that the forty nine ers offered less than
ten million Miami was in the on the metal stand,
but third that they offered less than eight before Bosa
ended up showing up as a member of the Buffalo Bills.

Speaker 1 (08:23):
I have to ask you this. I'll riddle you this one. Batman,
this is your This is the second straight hour you
have mentioned the Riddler from Batman.

Speaker 3 (08:31):
I'm writing. I'm writing fan fiction.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
I'm writing fiction about the Riddler. That's right, The origins
of Frank Gorshen is what you're writing.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
Okay, all right, Well, maybe maybe it's time he needs
a proper biography.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
I don't know what's out there. Maybe they need one
in the landscape.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
But really, the question, one of the most fervent why
why are you doing this?

Speaker 3 (08:56):
What was us?

Speaker 4 (08:58):
Messages came from the Kittles. He's in the final year
of his deal. Who's to say he doesn't get spun
off here in the next couple of days.

Speaker 1 (09:05):
They just sign a tight They just signed sign a
tight end today and they signed Luke Ferrell today.

Speaker 4 (09:09):
I mean, I mean, it's just saying, like, the opportunities there.
We've heard the Iyuk smoke has been there going all
the way back to last year, and I don't know
that you should have done the the what we all
kind of surmised out loud, but the oh yeah, the
forty nine ers clearly realized they overpaid for him last year,
like well, we said it at the time, and then

(09:30):
clearly he's unavailable, and you start looking at what the
marketplace becomes because there's a lot of wide receivers out there.
You saw the Ravens signed DeAndre Hopkins for what six
million dollars, so you can bring in guys. I'm not
saying that at his best, he's still the old DeAndre Hopkins,
but it's a fifth of what you're paying Brandon Ayuk

(09:53):
coming off a huge injury. Going forward, as you rebuild
the squad, you have Jennings, you have Pearsall who in
the final weeks of the season played really well, and
eventually he won't be oh, that guy that got shot
their first round pick. It'll be let's put some respect
on his name because I think the kid's a hell
of a receiver. But you've got some talent in the room.

(10:13):
So maybe it's the rest of the jettising Jenni jett Desnding.
That's a tough word, oustring of the old guard as
you build a new around brock party.

Speaker 1 (10:27):
So there's your first one, right, there's right, the end
of the era of the forty nine ers is here.
The other one is this the Dolphins may finish last
in the AFC East this year. No, listen, they are
on Not only are they on a downward they're still
in a downward spiral from the end of last year
when it looked like they were going to be the
next great team in the AFC, and suddenly this year

(10:49):
they can't get anything right. You worried about to his health?
Is he out there? Tyreek Hill is happy now he's unhappy.
He's happy, He's unhappy already you have seen Miami really
come back to the pack way quicker than you thought. Now,
they lost a ton of talent last offseason, right would
they get like fourteen compensatory picks because of what they
lost last year? Lost more guys this year. They're not

(11:11):
bringing a ton of talent in and Obviously, the Bills
are still the Bills. Right, They're still at the top,
and now they had Joey Bosa, which is a great
run for a year for them. Bills are still at
the top. The Patriots went and spent all kinds of
money in a brand new defense, and as much as
I it match makes me cringe to say this, boy,
their defense is going to be really good next year.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Right.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
They got players familiar with Mike Rabel from when he
was in Tennessee. You know, offense maybe is still gonna
be a little bit. You know, I think they're they're
trusting that Drake May will take another step in Offensively,
we can still run the football a lot, But defensively
they're gonna be really, really good.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Man.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
I really believe in the New England's defense. And the
Jets got better, right, they figured out their quarterback position,
and they have a lot all their best players are
all twenty five, twenty six years old and under. The
Jets have a lot of talent, all the guys that
have left in free agency that they've let go, or
all older guys signing deals that are in their thirties,
and hey, we're trying to figure something out The Jets

(12:05):
have a lot of talent. Remember last year, they weren't
far away. They were a Super Bowl team last year.
You don't lose all of that talent, and and they
filled a lot of their holes already, and you still
have the draft to go. So the Jets are going
to be better than they were this year. And look,
you were just one Devonte Adams play staying in bounds
from beating the Dolphins the next last week in the season.

(12:25):
So when you see that both these teams, the Jets
and the Dolphins are going to be better, they've already improved.
And here's the Dolphins who are kind of sitting around
in the stasis, losing a lot of talent last year,
losing some more this year, and not bringing a lot
in to get better. They have a lot of holes
to fill. This is not a deep team, you know.
That's the thing is that they're like the Cowboys a
few years ago, where it's like, hey boy, the Cowboys

(12:46):
have a lot of players and make it go wow.
But the team is not really deep, right, so they
need they need a lot They need a lot of
help here. Don't be surprised. The Dolphins finished last in
the AFC East next year.

Speaker 4 (12:56):
Yeah, well you're looking at the Patriots came into this
offseason with the most money to spend. You bring in
Landry Milton Williams. He was on a great graphic with
Tom Brady because his annual average salary was higher than
tom Brady's ever was. So I was like, hey, look
at that. You can put that up on your wall
that you got paid by these guys. So you rebuilt

(13:19):
the defense bit by bit. There's still opportunity to go
and add to the offensive side of things. For the Dolphins,
I really thought you were just gonna start taking the
shots because they signed Barrios and Zach Wilson's That's what.

Speaker 3 (13:35):
I really thought.

Speaker 4 (13:35):
That's all you were gonna say was and they lost
out on Joey Bosa maybe, you know, within the division.
So to that end, you know, you've got a bunch
of issues. Super genius McDaniel, we're not quite sure that
that's the case. And you've set up your quarterback room
very interestingly. You got a guy who, hey, we haven't

(13:57):
seen him go down again. Whatever he did learning jiu
jitsu and learning how to fall, or maybe just avoiding
hits all together, you know, which is always a pretty
good idea as well. We've had two on the field.
But if he goes down, that's that's Zach Wilson. I
don't know what Zach Wilson becomes. Maybe maybe McDaniel can
do for for him what we just saw Sam Darnold

(14:17):
get from Kevin O'Connell and the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (14:20):
But I'm not overly optimistic.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
And then the Bills, you know, making moves, they bolstered
the defense, added some pieces and like I said, even
adding Bosa today and the Jets, is it's solved. No,
but it's certainly in a much better position than it
was a year ago. You at least have some more faith.
And this all comes to how much do you really

(14:45):
believe in justin fields?

Speaker 3 (14:49):
Could you believe in your coach more?

Speaker 1 (14:50):
Right?

Speaker 4 (14:50):
Yes, philosophy, but there just seems to be a difference there.
And I don't know if Roberts saw. Look, Robert Sala
just seems like the guy that is the the king.
He'll be one of the next like Wade Phillips and
Norv Turner. We talk about how great a coordinator he is. Yeah,
and you know, the respect or ability long term as
a headman.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
And I and I don't know what kind of the
thing is. I don't know what kind of a culture
guy he was. Like, he assembled a lot of talent,
and there's no way that talent should have fallen off
the way it did. And the fact that when he
got fired the team got even worse tells me, Okay,
there was no culture there, right and and and Aaron
Glenn clearly is a culture guy. Right. He is a
hard ass, and he is a guy that's gonna expect

(15:31):
a lot, but the players are gonna love him, and
he's building a pretty good culture there. He's bringing. He
brings in a guy he know, I know, justin Fields
are gonna come in and do X, Y and Z
for me.

Speaker 3 (15:39):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
Look, these teams are now figuring out while the Dolphins
are they're sort of kind of flailing, Like, Okay, we
made it a year ago, we were great, and now
I don't know what's happened again. They've lost a lot
of talent, not bring enough talent in. And I'll just
tell you this. So one of my best friends is
a Dolphins fan, lifelong Dolphins fan. I sent him a
text today with a picture of Zach Wilson superimposed in

(16:01):
or photoshopping with Dolphins Jersey, and I sent him the
picture and I waited and I said, he's gonna start
fifteen games for you this year at quarterback, and then
he just set me back at Jiff. I don't know
where he found it, but it's my new favorite jiff
of a teddy Bear. It's an animated teddy bear who
hops to the side of a street and then jumps
up in the air and lands in midea the street
and gets run over by a truck. WHOA. I was like,

(16:24):
he just runs and he leaps in the air and
puts his arms out and he gets run over byans.

Speaker 3 (16:30):
I was like, oh man, I kind of need to
see this.

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Oh it's like a Simpsons thing. When I say it's animated,
it's not like you know, it's not like you know,
Studio Ghibli animated. Wh oh No, it's like one of
those just Simpsons funny. It's a teddy Bear that is.

Speaker 4 (16:45):
Studio Ghibli tugged at my heart strings, perhaps a little
bit more.

Speaker 1 (16:50):
Tight shirt just jumped up. Studio what are you talking? Studios?
Are we talking about Studio Ghibley I got, I got
the greatest anime based product ever made. Exit out of
Fresco exit swollen down. The Jason Smith Show with Mike

are streaming through spring training. Juan Soto's ops is one
and a half and the Yankees may not have enough

(18:34):
people to feel the team. It has not been a
banner exhibition season so far for the Yankees. And I'm
being kind right now with that kind when I say.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
That, Mike Carmon, that is overly kind. It's been a.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
Situation whereby you need every bit of sage brushes and
magic crystals you can possibly put together. Just try to save.
Already they're calling for Boone.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
You did this. It's all your fault, and he hasn't
had to manage anything.

Speaker 4 (19:08):
You weren't supposed to let him throw a pitch in
spring training, didn't you know, not an opening day?

Speaker 1 (19:15):
What are you doing? I didn't want to see him
at all? Why do I even see him here on
about Baba Rap. I don't want to see this guy.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
I know what he is.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
I don't understand. I don't understand. Well, lucky they went
unspent all that money, but is it going to be
enough with us now? The hot line nobody better for
all these big stories than Fox Sports Radio, MLB Network
insider extraordinaire. He is on Twitter at John Morosi. That
is at John Morosi. It is the Pope, John Paul Morosi,

(19:46):
who is now penciled in as the Yankees fourth starter.
John Paul Helpe, you got your arm ready to go here,
because I know you're a quarterback in high school, so
just you know, build up your pitching, so you get
your pitch count up to about sixty seventy five for
opening day.

Speaker 6 (20:00):
Good evening, my friends, And you do remember what my
record was as a quarterback in high school. That would
be oh to nine oh and nine. So that the
Yankees do not need me, trust me that they need
They need somebody with actual talent. And what I can
tell you this evening is that based on all my
most recent correspondence is that it's unlikely to be Dylan

(20:22):
ceas it's unlikely to be Sandy Alcanta, So the the
Yankees will at this moment in time, have to go
with their internal options. Marcus Strowman. Initially when spring camp began,
there was the thought that he was going to be
in the bullpen and if things continue at their current pace,
he might have the ball on opening Day. That's that's

(20:43):
where where the Yankees seem to be at the moment.
And my goodness, there are a lot of a lot
of hopes that are rising I think elsewhere right now
in the American League East.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
Yeah, jump Paul, Jump Paul. And this is this is
how insane this is. This is why my dad won't
returned my phone calls. Is because, I mean, the beginning
of spring training, this was the Yankees couldn't get in
touch with Marcus Stroman because he was so upset that
he wasn't going to be one of the top five
starting pitchers, like he was not in the top like
it was how are they gonna get? And now he

(21:14):
could wind up starting opening Day. It's not even a
month has gone by.

Speaker 6 (21:18):
Well, and I'll say this with respect to baseball, it
is amazing and it's one of the reasons why I
tend to pay a lot more attention to the roster
conversations now than I do a month previous to this,
because it always changes, and for the most part, especially

(21:40):
with twenty six players and every team times thirty rosters,
usually for the most part, the most talented players and
the best players wind up in the major leagues because
of the number of injuries that occur or performance, et cetera.
And it's important to point out that what we've witnessed
the last couple weeks, especially the last week with the

(22:01):
Yankees Luis Heel and now most notably with Garrett cole Is,
it affirms and tracks very well with what the MLB
research was along these lines, which is that March late
February March, when when pitchers really start to ramp up,
is the time of the year where most injuries occur
because they're going from this intensive period of pitch design

(22:25):
and offseason throwing and building up to then the game performance.
And it's just it is a very very difficult time
of year for pitcher health. And this year is just
one more data point in that regard.

Speaker 4 (22:39):
JP As we look at the spring through the first
couple of weeks I mean, we're only a week away
from the Cubs and Dodgers starting to get after it,
which is just really odd to think about. You've had
an attrition in the Al East. Is there something on
you on your radar that's popped up here? You know,
prospect wise, because fantasy baseball drafts are underway.

Speaker 6 (22:59):
But ooh, the fantasy baseball drafts well a couple So
let's say this. It does appear that Matt Shaw is
going to have a role on the Chicago Cubs. He
has made the travel roster to Tokyo. And by the way,
if you want to just get a look at how
immediate things are and how soon the season starts, those

(23:21):
buses are rolling out of Mesa, Arizona right now as
the Cubs are bound for the airport and flying to Japan.
So I think Matt Shaw being part of the travel
roster is a big one. I would also point out
that Cam Smith, who was traded from the Cubs to
the Astros and the Kyle Tucker deal, there is some

(23:41):
excitement that Cam Smith might well find himself in an
opening day roster spot, and so he's a really intriguing guy.
Chandler Simpson there with the Tampa Bay Rays. Really interesting
prospect too in terms of his ability to run the
bases and get on base. So I'll mention those names.
I think Jimson Smith Shaw for your fantasy baseball draft consideration.

(24:05):
And how about this Trace Thompson putting together a pretty
strong bid to make the roster in Boston. He has
had an up and down career, some injuries, some time
in the minor leagues, but obviously one of the great
athletic families in American sports history. You could say Trace
is making a pretty good bid to make the Boston
Red Sox roster too. So some pretty good stories around

(24:27):
spring camp so far.

Speaker 1 (24:28):
Yeah, all those are great, John Paul One Soto's ops
is one and a half. Okay, that's great.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
All I tried to fill the.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Come on is one and a half? Come on?

Speaker 6 (24:40):
Well one? Soo he Mike, what do all the fantasy
baseball prognostications have for where Juan Soto's going to get drafted?
Is the number one? Number two after show? Hey? Well
what do we have?

Speaker 3 (24:53):
It would be number two after show?

Speaker 6 (24:55):
Hey, number two after showing. By the way we were
talking this morning on on Hotsova, I'm just thinking about
Show A right now, and of course what we will
a lot in the next couple weeks, the next couple decades.
But a point to make about Show A. We were
talking on the air about about the global profile of

(25:15):
Show A, and it is massive. Eight point eight million
followers on Instagram for Show A. That's a massive following,
certainly bigger than anybody in baseball, anybody else in baseball.
But then we were comparing to other athletes. Lionel Messi
five hundred five million Instagram followers again, which is massive,

(25:40):
Lionel Messi, I'll repeat that, five hundred five million, that
is And again I always say, don't ever do math
live on the radio, but based on my UP math
from where I'm from in Michigan, that would appear to
be about sixty times greater than that show. He's following

(26:01):
sixty times That is pretty pretty remarkable.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
So now wait a minute now at UP of course
stands for Upper Peninsula. Yeah, I just wanted to.

Speaker 6 (26:10):
Know one was run by the way, And congratulations to
Tommy's He has to be setting a new record every
every week. And wouldn't it be amazing if he celebrates
the twenty fifth anniversary of the two thousand championship with
another one here in twenty twenty five. But I digress,
go ahead, Yes, it was up math as I was
learning it up there in the up.

Speaker 1 (26:29):
But Harvin, here's the thing. I think. I think we're
getting onto something here that we've never gotten into before
with John Paul. He doesn't he very rarely talks fantasy
baseball with us, but here he is two questions about
going number one overall and going number two overall. I'm
thinking somebody has the number one pick in his fantasy
league and was okay, So it's it's so tawy, is it?

(26:52):
Is it? Soto like, well, you know what the third
guy is going on?

Speaker 3 (26:56):
The third guy.

Speaker 4 (26:58):
That goes into the mix, and maybe he didn't want
me to say his name would be Bobby Witt.

Speaker 6 (27:04):
Bobby, I think he's yeah, I mean, so you would
you would put Wit ahead of Aaron Judge?

Speaker 1 (27:12):
Oh wait, maybe John Paul's picking fourth.

Speaker 3 (27:14):
Hang on.

Speaker 6 (27:18):
The last time, the last time I played a fantasy sport.
And you know the answer to this question, I'm sure
from all of our conversations over the years was was
back in the nineties when I was doing fantasy football
with my high school friends, and at that time, maybe
eighth or ninth grade, you would pick Steve Young because
you got the rushing touchdowns of the passing touchdowns. So

(27:40):
Steve Young was a great pick. So the last, the
last time that I was actually paying attention to a draft,
the consensus number one overall pick was either Steve Young
or Natron. Means one of the two. What and if
you thought you would have a Steve Young or Tropans
reference on this conversation, I am here to surprise you,

(28:01):
my friends.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
No, that is that I didn't think we would get
a Natron.

Speaker 6 (28:06):
Full surprises here, I am.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
That's that's some next level stuff right there. I mean
forty five career touchdowns for Natron. So I mean, you know,
you go down that road, it's certainly found the end zone.
But the the I guess the last piece for me,
I mean is just getting jacked up about the fact
that we're going to have some baseball. Even though the Whites,
yes really don't play. It is the idea that that

(28:32):
we do have, you know, these up and coming squads.
We talk about Kansas City and Bobby Witt Junior. We
always talk about Seattle on the show, and certainly the Mets.

Speaker 3 (28:42):
Give me a team.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Really off the pack that you know you you may
drive them to great heights this year.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
I think the Rays are going to be better this year.
They've got a healthy pitching staff, which is more than
what the Orioles and the Yankees can say in the
same division. So I think the Rays are underrated the
The Angels are going to be better. Now I'm not
going to put them in the playoffs, but they're going
to be better. I think they've got more pitching depth.
The Giants, I believe, are going to be a better

(29:10):
ball club. And again, hard to make progress in that
division because you've got the Dodgers and some extent the
Podres and the Diamondbacks. But I believe the Giants are better,
and I like the Cincinnati Reds. I'm a big believer
in the Tito effect. I'm looking actually right now at
my bookshelf and I see the Francona book that he
wrote with Dan Johnsy. Not just because I'm looking at

(29:31):
Tito's face on the cover of the book, but I
believe that he's going to find a way to get
the Cincinnati Reds, if not to the playoffs, then certainly
into the conversation. So I've just given you a few
teams that I believe are underrated globally speaking, as we're
talking about the various division races there. And I think
the Mets. The Mets are properly rated. They are not overrated,

(29:54):
nor are they underrated, but they are properly rated in
what I expect to be a pretty tough division. The
Brave are going to be a good ball club, and
and I think that you overestimate or underestimate them. I
should say that you would underestimate the Braves at your
own peril, because with just a little bit better health,
they're going to be a very dangerous team this year.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
A guy no one has ever underestimated in his life,
except for maybe when he was oh and nine in
high school. It is John Paul Morosi. He's hot Twitter
at John Morosi, MLD Network, Fox Sports Radio. John Paul
is always buddy of Blast. We'll talk to you next week,
my friend. Have fun.

Speaker 6 (30:30):
You got it, I always said, speaking of underrated Taylor,
the receiver from the Niners back in the nineties, John Taylor, right,
he was underrated, Rice got all the glory, handler, a
good possession receiver. I was he had a big Super
Bowl against the Bengals. I believe so I was on
with Taylor. He's a good good pick there.

Speaker 1 (30:47):
Did you throw to him in high school? Like? Was
he was?

Speaker 3 (30:50):
He? Was?

Speaker 1 (30:50):
He your guy?

Speaker 3 (30:50):
What were your statue?

Speaker 6 (30:52):
We had? We had an entire We had all my
receivers on their fastest days, hoped to one day like
Wes Welker, which is why we were all O one night.

a bullhorn. Let's knock this walt out. You don't put
that fuck forwards Radio one preset.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
So at.

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Two days in the NFL free agency. Now I can
tell you the two guys I feel I feel the
worst for. I mean, really they they I shouldn't but
I do. It's what's a weird thing, right, like something? Oh,
I can't stag as that now. I just feel bad
for them. I feel bad for Aaron Rodgers and Russell
Wilson because this is not how their career should end.
There should They should not be at the end looking

(35:38):
as desperate as they are to keep the game going.

Speaker 6 (35:40):
Right.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
It shouldn't end this way. Aaron, They're both Hall of famers, right,
Aaron Rodgers were the top five quarterbacks I've ever seen
me in not the last couple of years of the Jets,
but I mean, he he is that good. And especially
the desperation of Rogers, who has let it be known. Ah,
I'll come in as a bridge guy, and I'll mentor
somebody I want to play. I want to guys that
are this good, that have done this much in their careers,

(36:03):
that have won super Bowls. Desperation is a bad look.
It's a bad look on Rogers. It's a bad look
on Wilson, even if they wind up staying right, because look,
let's say they both wind up staying one of them
will probably go to the Giants. One of them will
go to the Steelers. Right, if it's Rogers to the Steelers,
at least he can walk around with a little bit
of Hey, I'm on a good team and maybe we
can do some things. The other guys going to the

(36:24):
Giants and it's gonna be oh man, it's the end
of my career because this team is awful. So but
it doesn't matter, because this shouldn't be it for these guys.
They should be I'm a free agent. They should have
their teams and they should know if it's not working out,
maybe maybe it's time. Maybe it's time. We've had a long,
illustrious career. We've made it to the late thirties, forty
years old, made money again, going to the Hall of Fame.

(36:48):
I know it's the end. But when the end is
what you have left, that's all that That's what matters, right,
What is that Henry the Fifth? I think that they
left all that. When the fall is all that left,
it matters a great deal. And that's the thing for
Rogers and Wilson is that, Okay, this is the end,
and manage it with grace and dignity. And if I
was Rogers, I would have said last year was it? Man?

(37:09):
You go out in a pretty high note, right, You
play well the last half of the season, You wind
up in the top ten in yards and touchdowns, Like
that's a pretty good end. But you know that no
one's really gonna go crazy to add you in the offseason.
So are you're gonna be that desperate? At least Wilson's
been quiet. Hasn't been as much talk about Wilson, but
the desperation just seems to ooze from Aaron Rodgers. And

(37:29):
for a guy that's been so much of a I
don't care what you think. I'm gonna go out and
say what I think, and I'm gonna be the guy
that stirs the drink, and I'm gonna I'm gonna cause
controversy and I'm gonna be a content creator to go
out with a Hey, I just want to play somewhere anywhere. Please,
won't someone hire me? It's kind of sad.

Speaker 3 (37:48):
That's a little bit of that element to it. I'll
give you that.

Speaker 4 (37:51):
But you know, we always talk about the Phil Simms
quote about retirement and how long it is, because even
in your mid thirties, that's a lot of years, right, Look,
we'd all be so lucky to have that option put
in front of us to where it really you know,
where there's no resentment, there's no battles, there's no any
of that. It's like I walked out on my own terms.

(38:12):
I've got enough money to go and travel and do
what I want to do. The family's good and all
to have that ability, but we're not them, right. So
for Aaron Rodgers, maybe there's still something inspired by those
final games. Now, a couple of huge performances against the
Jaguars and Dolphins maybe skew some of that stuff, but
beating the Dolphins had to feel pretty good for him,

(38:35):
and going out, like you said, Top ten rankings the
numbers are what they are where however you got there
and whatever that road really looked like, and even in
those games, the numbers are on the back of the
football card going forward. But for Russell Wilson that they're
both great fits for Pittsburgh based on bringing in metcalp though, right,

(38:56):
because you got two guys that all they want to
do is run one burners down the field and make
acrobatic catches. And what do both of those guys do
really well? Put the ball up for grabs down field, right,
the moon ball? The moon ball from Russell Wilson, Let's go. Yeah,
there is a level of sadness. But you know what,
keep those jerseys on be name within that Brams uniform.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
Let's go.

Speaker 1 (39:23):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome Jason Smith
and my Carbet. It's just it's just said, I hope
there's a great resolution because it's if they get to stay,
it's more fun for us and more fun for people
that it's just sad, man, it's just really sad to
see them at this level.

Speaker 4 (39:37):
Do you do you sit around and then wait to
get tapped in like you're a reliever.

Speaker 1 (39:41):
Oh no, you can't do that. Man, No, if you
I mean, but I don't know what you do at
this point, like you've lost the high ground to retire right,
like you've lost this. I don't know how you get
it back. I really don't.

Speaker 3 (39:51):
You just went full Anakin getting roped.
