get to Jerry, Joe n Stephen Jones, Henstein. Don't forget Really,
I'm gonna be laying in bed tonight at like one
in the.
Speaker 3 (01:02):
Morning after the Jacksonville press conference today.
Speaker 1 (01:04):
Yeah, because the thing is because I'm reading you see,
the thing is certain horror novels. When I get really
into my I can tell, hey, this is a really
good one. This scares me a lot. This this one
is more like a more of an adrenaline rush horror.
And I'm reading a really good horror one. Now that's
really scary. And I know that I'm gonna finish reading tonight.
Get ready to go to bed. I'm gonna lay back
and I'm just gonna hear scary and I'm gonna go. Ah,
(01:30):
did you say something, Pam, wake up? Did you say something?
Did you just say duval?
Speaker 4 (01:33):
What?
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Go to bed and I'm gonna go. I'm gonna close
my eyes, I'm gonna hear. I'm gonna go. Zoe, Zoe
wanted to able to run open her door. Did you say, duval? Dad?
What are you talking about? Go to bed? Go to
bed and I'm gonna sit there and go back. I'm
gonna here again, dude, and then I'm gonna be convinced.
My dog Benny is doing it and I'm gonna stare
at him at night. Are you saying that you learn
how to speak? Didn't you? You're scaring me. You learned
(01:56):
how to speak and say, dubal.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
You've got the dog from up in your house. I
think it's probably the fact that somebody from Jacksonville, Florida
was the original owner of your house and they're just
haunting it. And now it's all come full circle. After
the Jaguars new coach gives his press conference, which was
entertaining question Mark today.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Now, yeah, yeah, entertaining.
Speaker 3 (02:17):
Somebody's got to be thinking in Jacksonville. We've got a
long time till opening day, till they actually have game
day events there in Florida, somebody's got to be thinking
and say, how can we incorporate that because it's taking
on a life of its own into our game day,
because the fans will immediately recognize it and probably rally
(02:37):
around it in a really awkward kind of way.
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Yeah, just like elgses, Hey, we're going to rally around that.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
Except that wasn't the head coach of the Eagles. That
was the mayor of the city it was. But I
think we all have they'll still great appreciation for what
level of competence most politicians, including local ones have when
they we saw that at USCA when Pete Carroll was
there twenty years ago. Suddenly politicians that you hadn't heard
from or of for finding their way onto the stage
(03:07):
to be able to share the spotlight and celebrate with
the team.
Speaker 1 (03:10):
Oh, this is my team, really, this is your team.
Didn't realize that everybody but Will Howard could get on
the stage. Will Howard could not get on the stage.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Yeah. Yeah, that's a separate thing. Scary, Yes, Rostbury, Will
Howard made more money than the mayor of Philadelphia.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
I'm pretty certain I he might be able to I
don't know. Wow, now you're scared. Now, now it's gonna
be something, that's something even worse he's gonna be. He's
gonna be speaking it's hard to be worse in two languages,
like that's gonna be even scarier. But the worst a
portal to hell has opened up. My dog is only
not speak speaking in two languages. If he goes through
(03:45):
Latin like in uh Exorcist, that'd be really confront concerned.
Speaker 3 (03:49):
Yeah, and then the dog's head's gonna be spreinning around.
Speaker 1 (03:54):
To play one more time, just so people understand, what say,
play it one more time? Play the Liam Cohen.
Speaker 5 (03:58):
Dude, that was the justin Frostburg, That Liam Cohen, that
was Liam Cohen.
Speaker 3 (04:06):
You're sure it's on the money.
Speaker 1 (04:07):
It was okay because I thought I figured out because
I kind of heard, Duval the Lakers are back. That's
kind of what I heard when when not just act,
that's kind of what I know.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
The new hire just worked I in Florida this NFL season,
and now he's going, I won't say, to a rival team,
but a nearby market, and he's suddenly trying to energize
the fan base with whatever that was that we played
last hour.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
You will Walk into the Ocean.
Speaker 3 (04:36):
You don't remember the Gilligan's Island episode where they thought
it was haunted and people were walking around with white
sheets on the Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. You could have
thrown that into the into the background of the episode
and nobody would.
Speaker 1 (04:50):
Do bad ghost or a good ghost. No, I make
good ghost. Oh dull. I'm gonna say, is this house
been built on some kind of that I don't know about.
Was there a whole bunch of people killed at some
point like the seventeen hundreds? Is what's going on it?
Because I know I'm gonna land to bet.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
If that was the question to the owner of the Jaguars,
are you bad or good? He would say have you
seen us? Honestly?
Speaker 1 (05:18):
All right? So outside of the spookiness, happening in Jacksonville.
The Dallas Cowboys reluctantly Sorry, the Dallas Cowboys introduced Brian
Schottenheimer as their new head coach.
Speaker 3 (05:29):
Come on, they worked harder than anything else, this off
seas and I am certain on this. Just this higher,
complete and total. Folks, they're all in you remember, do
we need to talk to anybody else? Nope, just gonna wait,
Just gonna wait till everybody else gets hired. And I'm
gonna pick a guy that don't we already hire somebody?
I mean, can't we We don't have to go through
the whole payroll paperwork again? Right? Is there somebody in house?
(05:53):
I mean somebody giving the tour guide?
Speaker 1 (05:56):
And we got to get hr involved. They gotta come
in to make sure everything is ok. Hey, you gonna
find the paperwork, listen. I'm just I'm just gonna hire
somebody that nobody wants, right, because really I don't really
care about winning. Like That's the whole thing I get
to with with the Cowboys is that we're gonna hear
from from Schottenheimer and Jerry Jones in a second.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
But he's got a football name, but Shottenheim.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Yeah, I'm immediately that's great. Hey, yeah, that sounds great,
shot Shotenheimer, sounds great, But I said, not.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
Known for his Super bowls just for the record, you know.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
And I just go, are the Cowboys? Really?
Speaker 4 (06:26):
Like?
Speaker 1 (06:26):
How can you sell this that this is a move
to make the team better and win the Super Bowl? Right?
Speaker 3 (06:32):
Like?
Speaker 1 (06:32):
That's what I That's what I really come back to
when when you get past the laughing about really you
don't want to talk to Aaron Glenn or Ben Johnson
or Mike grape no no, no, no, no gin to
go to the guys that nobody else wants to talk to.
The Jets and Bears talked to fifty head coaches between
the two of them, not one of them talked to
Brian Schottenheimer.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
I believe Mike Harmon was interviewed, but he was. He
was on the list.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
He was he was on Zoom and he stood up
and he was wearing purple shorts and they said, listen,
you gotta wear long pants. He said, I can't wear
long pants. So he's out. But I mean, that's what
I can't get back. So I'm like, it's like, are
you really trying? I mean, how can you sit here
and say that this is a move that's gonna make
us better that he's got a vision for the It's
not like the offense was good last year. It's I mean,
(07:12):
you can't even tell me that.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
No making it worse today at the press conference is
I got the distinct impression that the Dallas Cowboys really
wanted to hire somebody who could still call the same
plays for the same quarterback, and so they were able
to hire in house after what were there six openings
this offseason and only the New Orleans one is still open,
(07:33):
and they're like interviewing Kellen Moore ironically tonight, who used
to call the plays for the Dallas Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
He came in second, So okay, he came in second.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
We already painted ourselves into the corner for this Dak
Prescott contract. So he's not going anywhere.
Speaker 1 (07:48):
No, no, no, guys, I got Steven's got a list
of guys I gotta pay and guys I don't gotta pay.
So as long as the one line and one one
columns not as big as the other column, feeling pretty.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Good, Okay, So if we hire him, he kind of
has to call the play, whether he wants to or not. Honestly,
that's the impression that I got, Like, he's not getting
this job unless he does that.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Also, I can also call the place. I mean, I'll
call the place too. I'll I'll just I'll just say, hey,
throw it to CD. I'm paying him. The guys I'm
paying the most that are on the field. That's who
you got it to. Here's Jerry Jones explaining how he
does find his coaches and his ability to find head
coaches for the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (08:25):
I'm saying it when I was a pub I have
a good background in the makeup of what a coach is.
To think that you could make a decision in an
(08:47):
interview and not have talked if you didn't and hadn't
ever communicated or had a visit, I wouldn't dare have
had an interview unless I talk to many many people.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
He expecting those pregnant plauses.
Speaker 1 (09:08):
Hang on, hang ONU, no, justin, don't play the AI
Jerry Jones that people made up for comedy. You gotta
play the real Jerry Jones from today. I wish I was.
You gotta play the real is the real Jerry Jones? Oh,
there's no way that's that. That's AI Jerry Jones. You
know what this sounds like straight out of office space.
Like he's sitting in front of the two bobs man
he's explaining to them what he does is the GM
(09:28):
What would you say you do here? Well, I kind
of do a little bit of everything. Hire the coaches,
fire the coaches, talk to the medium, and go on
one O, four to three the fan once a week.
But I may may cut back on that.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
I think where they do more bosses ask us that
at some point in or another, at some job or not.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
I don't understand what he's what What was he trying
to say?
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Like?
Speaker 1 (09:50):
Was he was he? Was he waiting for applause? Like?
I don't know when he says I was a young pup,
Like was there a pup supposed to come outstand and
with like supposed to be some kind of review I thought.
Speaker 3 (10:00):
Happened gonna reference your dog. Actually for the last story that.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
Was oh no, sorry, that was where Tony Romo was
supposed to parachute in and uh and say, hey guys,
look we got a new head coach. Oh, I guess
that didn't work. I gotta go on. Let let's let's
hear that. Let's say that part again from Jerry Jones.
Speaker 4 (10:15):
I'm saying it when I was a pup.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Pause Steven bark pau.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
Pause pause, oh good dog reference pause. That is what
they say before a break to know if the dog
has little hands.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
We pause for then we pause, we pause. Paul, Papa.
I always do Paul with him when when I get
I get his uh, I get his paw snarled up
in the in the leash a little bit, and I go,
come on, pauw.
Speaker 3 (10:42):
I thought it was like his admiration for the Andy
Griffith Show, and he was just making reference. That was
covering it.
Speaker 5 (10:48):
Paw Pau.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
Now Paul. We had a new head coach of Dallas.
I don't know anybody about this guy.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
I would rather see Opie Taylor as general manager and
oh of the Dallas Cowboys than the current man who
owns both titles.
Speaker 1 (11:04):
I mean, I don't know what Jerry Jones is trying
to say that. I mean, when you have to come
out and defend your head the hiring of a head coach,
you should at least have a one day honeymoon that Hey,
everybody feels good, even the Jets. To me, I would
just had a one day honeymoon today, right, Aaron Glenn
gets introduced, Darren Muji gets introduced.
Speaker 2 (11:23):
To go further.
Speaker 3 (11:24):
Jets had a one day honeymoon with Belichick. Yeah no,
we Cowboys did not. I know that we had the
whole day. I think we had most of the morning
of and then he resigned. But I mean, you should
have at least one day of, Hey, I feel good,
this is great. And instead Jerry Jones is defending his
higher and he can't even find.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
The words to do it. It's it's I mean, look
at the Cowboys and go, what is happening?
Speaker 4 (11:47):
Man?
Speaker 1 (11:48):
As bad as things are, it's like it's even worse
than than we thought it was. Like, are they trying
to win? When you have to defend a hire, the
first you're gonna do is everybody's to defend a higher.
What does that tell you about the guy you picked?
What does that tell you? That's the thing.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
They actually have to play games after this higher?
Speaker 1 (12:04):
But do they But do they really know they really.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Have He will be in larger debt than when they
built that.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
I don't know. I think the pesky games are the
worst thing for the Cowboys. I think if the Cowboys
could get rid of the games, well they are. They
are generally very highly rated. But you you could, like
you could replace the games with just some kind of
Cowboys content like Jerry Jones answering questions and uh and
and maybe answering more questions like you could have, and
(12:32):
that could replace the games people would watch. But I
think the games would give the Cowboys the most trouble.
I mean, they do pretty well or you know, or
they'd limit their damage when there's no games. Then the
games come, and then you get in trouble. Trust me,
I know as a Jets fan when the games come.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
What would you say you do here?
Speaker 1 (12:51):
When the games comes? When the Jets are in trouble?
Boys troubles and games are really trouble for the Cowboys.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Did you see did you see the home games with
the Cowboys?
Speaker 1 (12:58):
And I'll just leave the segment with all right, so
let's make sure prosper. We got to get regular reel Jo.
We can't keep running the AI Jerry Jones, all right,
we gotta run real Jerry Jones. That is the real
Jerry Jones. See that's the best part that we just did.
Steve is right now people are going, so wait, was
that really Jerry Jones was Fortunately, that's how bad it was.
Was that really, Jerry jo That was bad? Wait till
(13:19):
you hear the real Stephen Jones. We have real Stephen Jones.
Oh my goodness. All right, So we're gonna have that
coming up next. Obviously when I was a young pup.
Speaker 3 (13:30):
We're gonna have that, and that is his young pup.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
And we're gonna tell you what the absolute needs for
the losing teams for the conference championship games. All that
and more coming up next right here, Jason and Mike,

We're gonna play that. Just feel like a palter I'm
in Poltergeist again. Did not come out of the TV
or it's the ring Suddenly She's gonna walk out, turn
(16:06):
up and go duve o li. Liam Cohen is the
scariest dude in the NFL. So we will have more
of the battle. The press conference is coming up in
a few minutes because the winner really was Hey, the
head coach at dropped an F bomb because he just
got so upset with the questioning. But coming off of
the AFC NFC Championship games a day ago, the big
question clearly revolves around the Bills, the loss to the
(16:29):
Kansity Chiefs. The Chiefs going on, they get help from
a call. But as we talked about last hour, the
Bills want to complain about something. Sean McDermott and his
two point conversion costing the Bills the game two of them. Yeah, well,
because it costs with three points, because the Chiefs went
for two when they wouldn't have and it was ridiculously dumb.
I don't understand my coaches. They I don't know, they
(16:50):
don't know when to go for it.
Speaker 3 (16:50):
That's literally the difference of the three points yesterday's game
that the Chiefs made their two point conversion and the
Bills were oh for two on theirs, and.
Speaker 1 (16:58):
They wouldn't have gone for two if the Bills have
just kicked their extra points because it's twenty four to
twenty one, they score a touchdown, they're kicking the extra
point to go up four. They're not going for two.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
And the Bills, remember, wouldn't have gone for two on
that first one had there not been a penalty to
take the kick off the board. I think that was
right before halftime twenty one sixteen, and you could see
the camera happened to be on McDermott on the sideline.
As soon as the penalty was called, he said, going
for two, we go yeah, and they're notifying you have
(17:27):
to notify the officiating crew in advanced Sean Smith, who
was not working the game but working for the NFL,
was right there on the sidelines taking in and communicating,
communicating that. And then you'd think, I have Josh Allen,
he's a huge quarterback, I'm at the one yard line. Great.
But if the TV, and I'll go ahead and say it,
if even Tony Romo at this point in his broadcasting career,
(17:49):
is predicting your plays correctly, you've got to do something
about that.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Jim, I know it's gonna happen. Jim, Jim, Jim. Watch
this jet it, Jim, Jim, look at me. I'm right, Jim,
it's like it's twenty sixteen. Oh, I'm right, Jim. It's
so exciting, Jim, Jim Jim.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
At one point yesterday and the folks at Next Gen
Stats said, we've been around digging into NFL game stats
for almost a decade and we've never seen a game
where a team's been stopped on a quarterback sneak three
times in the same game.
Speaker 1 (18:15):
But with all of that, the question is really around
Josh Allen. Right, why can't Josh Allen get over the hump?
Why can't he get to the Super Bowl? What's wrong
with Josh Allen? But the same thing, say what's wrong
with Lamar Jackson? And the answer is the same. Right,
the answer is the same. Josh Allen hasn't gone to
the Super Bowl because he simply doesn't play the best
(18:36):
team in the AFC. He has never played on the
best team in the AFC. We talked about it last
week since they both came into the league. Since since
he and Lamar Jackson came into the league, the Chiefs
have been in the Super Bowl every year but one,
and that's when the Bengals beat them the big winning
burrow head to go to the Super Bowl. The Chiefs
or the Patriots have represented the AFC in the Super Bowl,
(18:58):
And when you want to go back to the beginning
of the Brady era, it's nine times for the Patriots.
And then the Chiefs started doing it so already. You know,
when you have a dominant team in your conference, that's
cutting how many times you go to the super Bowl
in half or in two thirds.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
And that's notable because the Bills are the team that
have taken over for Brady's Patriots and dominating that division,
the AFC East. This is five straight years taking that,
this is five straight years getting at least to the
divisional round. But they're the two seed. Kansas City's the
one seed. Buffalo doesn't have Mahomes. His numbers, especially when
trailing in a close playoff game fourth quarter overtime, are astounding.
(19:35):
Josh Allen's not the problem here, and in fact, we
mentioned this on last night's show. Those head to head
games with Kansas City, Yes, they've beaten them four times
regular season, Nobody will remember that. By the way, this
was their fourth playoff meeting in the last five years
these two. Kansas City has won all four and yet
in these four playoff starts against Case, Josh Allen has
(19:57):
a passer rating of one hundred. He has eleven total
time just one turnover. He has one of the best
passer ratings of any postseason quarterback just in general, not
head to head even against Casey, and yet they're not advancing.
Speaker 1 (20:13):
Because he simply he doesn't play on the best team
and the best team Jenner in the NFL. Yeah, you
can't get hot and win a bunch of games. Can
you get hot and win a game? Yeah you can.
But generally when you get to the super Bowl, it's
the best two teams, the best team in each conference.
Sometimes a lower seed will upset a seed somewhat higher,
(20:33):
but it's once in.
Speaker 3 (20:34):
A Carolina got hot.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
Once in a blue moon where a team like the
Giants gets in as the final wildcard and makes a
run to the super Bowl. Generally, the best team wins.
But look at the AFC. The Patriots were going to
every other super Bowl basically for the entire time Brady
was there, right, Basically every other year was the Patriots.
So that cuts how many chances you have to go.
Since Mahomes took over, now the Chiefs are going every year.
It went from the Patriots being the best team in
(20:56):
the AFC to the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
The streak of appearances in the AFC title game was
eight years in row Patriots and it's now seven years
in a row Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Yeah, so you have to get past the best team,
and the Bills have never been the best team. The
Bills going into this game. What did I say last week?
I can't pick the Bills because a I've seen the
Chiefs magic in the fourth quarter. They're playing at home.
But I'm not sold the Bills defense was going to
be able to do what they needed to do to
stop the Chiefs. The Bills defense is not great. And
the other thing we saw the Bills offensive weapons James
(21:26):
Cook a little bit underused and some of the receivers, boy,
they really need something, man, Because I'll tell you what
the Bills, that's the game where I saw they really
missed defon Diggs because he needed somebody to get the
football to him. Sorry, Mac Collins is not so Oh
he's great, Like you saw a disappointing Dalton Kincaid. Not
in just the drop which was which was a difficult
pass to catch. No, he didn't have the season Thatt.
(21:49):
You know, but he's supposed to be the next Travis
Kelsey and he's not. Amari Cooper has been invisible. He
was supposed to be the guy that put the Bills
over the top. Kean Coleman invisible. So when it comes
to a point where you have to beat the best
teams you're coming in. You don't stack up like the
Bills roster does not stack up against the Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (22:07):
Or maybe you use James Cook for eighteen carries and
a couple more receptions And.
Speaker 1 (22:11):
Yeah, I mean, well that's to think James Cook needed
more carries. And I have some reason Sean McDermott loves
taking him out of the games. And I don't understand why.
But the Bill there was once.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
That they gave him I think three or four carries
in a.
Speaker 1 (22:20):
Row, and when he asked out, that's four times. But
there's times, well that's a thirty yard gain and now
he's out for five plays, Like what do we do?
What are you doing? Put your best player? Like it
baffles me that guys like McDermott cannot give the ball
to him, and Dan Campbell cannot give the ball more
to Jamir Gibbs, and and and Mike Tomlin cannot give
the ball Mortar Jalen Warren, Hey, we want to give
(22:41):
the ball to the What they're doing with Barkley, I
know why you do it? Just get the let's say
Kwon Barkley until the game is over. Then you can
give the ball to Shipley. Okay, it's okay, you do that.
But that's why Josh Allen's not winning. He's not on
the best team. And look at look at the game yesterday.
The Chiefs defense was good when it needed to be.
The Chiefs defense is much better than the Bills to defense.
The Bills defense could not hold the Chiefs back enough.
(23:03):
They ran the football. Kareem Hunt ran the ball. Well,
come on, man, it's not twenty seventeen. He ran the
They were able to do what they needed to do.
They did what they needed to do in the fourth quarter.
I give the Bills defense credit for the big stand
when it looked like the Chiefs were going to just
steam roll win for a touchdown, they held them to
a field goal. But late. Yeah, but the Chiefs defense
made the plays right. And this is not just about Hey,
(23:23):
here's a quarterback making more plays than the other quarterback.
This is about an entire team that is better. And
the Chiefs have built their team. Now used to be around,
Hey we have Mahomes and Tyreek killing. We're gonna be
up fourteen nothing before we even turn around, and good
luck keeping up with us. But now it's different. Right,
they had to pay Mahomes, they lost Tyreek Hill had
to pay the refs. No, that's a lot of money.
That's a lot of money, Frostburg. You're talking about You're
(23:44):
talking about a whole ref for recrowd and then the
backup refs. I mean, come up, Although, why are you
worrying about paying the rest when apparently you can just
award touchdowns if you don't like what the defense is doing.
How did I not just give Patrick Mahomes a touchdowns?
If that's I mean Philadelphia ChFC reffs, Hey, we can
just do that. No, But like the Chiefs, you know,
they had to sprinkle things around. So now they're built
on Mahomes being the clutch quarterback that he is still
(24:07):
the best quarterback in the NFL, and a great defense
and a guy that comes alive when they need to
win the playoffs. That's how they're built. The Bills aren't
built that way. The Bills are built around we have
Josh Allen, what else? Well, we try to make the
other stuff work, and no matter what they have tried,
it is not worked. It's not for effort of trying.
Speaker 2 (24:22):
We tried.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Hey, we're gonna be Stefan Diggs oriented. Now we're not.
Now we're gonna be Josh Allen or no, we're not.
Now we're gonna get away from Stefan Diggs up. Now
we're not. We're gonna run the ball mark Now we're not.
They have tried everything, but they just aren't good enough.
And when you're not the best team, you're not going
to the super Bowl. It's not Josh Allen's spels like.
He's played poorly. He's only throw an interceptions, turn the
ball over a lot. He's just he's not on the
best team. Lamar Jackson not on the best team. The
(24:44):
Ravens have never been the best team in the AFC.
They've always been looking up at the Chiefs. When you
don't play on the best team, your chance to go
to the Super Bowl are not great.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
The difference is Lamar Jackson with all the playoff losses,
his offense usually gets seventeen points or less in the postseason.
That's the majority of his postseason games. Whereas Buffalo, we
still see the regular Buffalo offense. And that was a
great offense this year. When the news came out before
this game this weekend, Hey the guy that's been calling
the plays that we stuck in there in the season before.
(25:13):
He's staying. He interviewed for head coaching elsewhere, he's staying
with us. That's great dues for the Buffalo offense. But
it's got to be said of the Chiefs A they
play close games and have a kicker who literally hasn't
missed a field goal attempt in the fourth quarter of
any of these playoff games we're talking about.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
If you said to me, okay, Josh Allen, will he
ever get to a Super Bowl? And you put the
over under out of half? Okay, So it means he
either gets to one to win the bet or he
doesn't go at all. I'm gonna take the under because
he's gonna be against Lamar Jackson for the rest of
his prime, and as a bigger running quarterback, the rest
(25:49):
of his prime isn't gonna be as long as other
guys or games against mahomes who have yet to turn thirty. Yes,
and so you're going against them. You have the best
team in the NFL on your way.
Speaker 3 (25:58):
And who's to say what other teams will become in the.
Speaker 1 (26:01):
Aac oh look look, and and the Charge are only
getting better with harball right, The Bengals are only going
to get better with that.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Actually, receivers maybe key On Coleman available, but.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
The Broncos have gotten better, right, I mean, all these
teams are These teams are getting better. The Texans are
a better team. So now if you put the over
under for a half, I'm gonna take the under because
especially because for the next five years, which is going
to be the rest of Josh Allen's probably maybe a
little bit less than that, because he's gonna start breaking
down because bigger players break down, especially guys that take
the hits that Josh Allen does. Yeah, I would put
(26:32):
it the under that he's not gonna get I'd say
Lamar Jackson will get there before Josh Allen will.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
It was a very good Buffalo season, but it needs
to be said out loud. The Bills were ten and
zero at home, five and five on the road. Super
Bowl championshire usually not five and five on the road,
And when chances are you're going to be playing at
Kansas City for one of those key road games, as
they most often are in all of these matchups, that's
(26:57):
just not good for your chances. And they had a
good team, not only as two seed is mentioned. Can
I just mention again going for two twice and missing twice?
Whereas the weekend before, you didn't pay attention to what
the Ravens did when they lost by two to you
and Baltimore missed two two point passes in the second
(27:17):
half and lost head to head to you. That reminds
me of wasn't it herm Edwards as Jets coach when
they got the field goal at the end when the
Chargers said, Hey, we can win it an overtime, Let's
stop running an offensive play. This is field goal range,
isn't it, and they kick and miss. The next week,
the Jets lose a close game almost the same way.
Speaker 1 (27:35):
We missed two. Said we missed two field goals they
got in the final two minutes.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Pay attention to your own playoff games, people, the field
goals in the final two minutes. I was at that
Jets Chargers game, as was I. I was, actually was,
and I got fight at the end. No, uh, Doug
Brian missing. Thanks for bringing that missing two field goals
in the final two minutes of a game. But that's
the same thing as Buffalo winning by two because of
the two point decisions of the opponent last week and
(28:00):
then choosing to do this to themselves.
Speaker 5 (28:05):
And you're playing the chiefs and the refs. How are
you supposed to beat them if you're not going for
I don't don't you think they found a way to
find up to me? No, I don't think that.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
I don't think the referees would allow that. I think
they would. They would have thrown a flag. What didn't
the hell got a phantom flag?
Speaker 5 (28:21):
Like there was almost thrown yet today you didn't even
get to the flag that was thrown at the end
of the game.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
Where please bring it up? Because you and I were
broadcast out a flag and that's a spotter. That's their
entire job is to tell you what went on the field.
And a spotter tells Jim nance, hey, flag on this
most important play of the old day, so far under
two minutes to go, and he says flag, and they
(28:49):
put up flag graphic. Therefore, as soon as Kevin Harlan
on radio sees the flag graphics, I work for CBS,
I trust these people, he says, there's a flag.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
No flag, they thought Kate dropped it. Don't know flag,
can't take that flag? No, No, here's the deal. Listen,
this is what I saw. I saw. Both Nance and
Kevin Harlan talked about it. They were both told by
their spottery or Nance was told by his spotter there's
a flag. So he says, there's a flag, and they
put the graphic up. Tony Romo says right away there's
(29:21):
no flag, like Nance is saying, I don't see it.
Romo says, I don't see a flag. So generally, so
what happened is the spot this is you got to
hear from the spot How does the spotter say there's
a flag, because right away Jim Nance heard it and
was told to say it.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
You are in the graphics talking to the two people
in an NFL booth during the season, who's one of
their jobs is to spot a flag and point it
out the flight.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
And Kevin Harlan said, when he saw the flake, because
he's watching the broadcast, when he saw a flag, he
said flag. He says, okay, there's a flag. Then it
turned out to be not a flag. And and the
bill because dropped the ball. Because he dropped the ball,
that's why I take the flag. No flag doesn't not
been caught flag. There's a guy standing there with a
flag in his act, just waiting on. He just puts
(30:05):
it back, really just puts it back in really slyly.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Homer Simpson, receding into the bushes.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
No, I was just I was just stretching. I was
I was just I was stretching. I got a rotator cuff.
Damn justing. Why were you stretching with the flag in
your head? Well, it's a weighted you know, it's a
weighted flag. It helps me a little.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
Bit, you know, the theory of the of the yellow
shoes that some head or some yellow on the uniform.
Maybe they thought that was a yellow flag in Kansas
City yesterday.
Speaker 5 (30:28):
No, the TV booth is literally getting it from the
referees that there's a flag. That's how they put it
up so quick. That's where it's coming from. There was
a flag thrown.
Speaker 1 (30:39):
So who told Tony Romo there was no flag? Jim,
Let's find out what's trending right now. It's team the
saying arounds it for you in the wide world of sports.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
I would add for the Bills, that didn't help the
defense when Christian Benford at corner left the game with
the concussion and already safety Taylor rap was at with
the hip and back injuries, and.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
And Thomas retired. Jim Kelly retired That.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Toughman Thomas could Lady was still looking for.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Cornelius Bennett retired, Bruce Smith retired, Fred Smerlis retired, Smurlous,
Andre Reid retired.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
Let's get to college Tube, Joe Wait Number two.
Speaker 1 (31:17):
Davis retired, Julia Lemlor retired.
Speaker 3 (31:21):
Backup running back. They just drive drafted this.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
Year Danvid Davis, Rob Riddick retired.
Speaker 3 (31:28):
Number two Duke in college hoops, beating North Carolina State
seventy four to sixty four. Duke led by three points
with about three minutes left. Cooper flag twenty eight points
in the late game halftime at Arizona. The Wildcats unranked,
trying to go to eight and one in the Big
Twelve Conference their first year in it. They're leading number
three ranked Iowa State thirty four to thirty, wins for
Michigan and Ohio State at home, and currently the late
(31:51):
game on FS one as ten and a half minutes
to go. Ucla leads at usc fifty eight to forty eight.
The top five stayed the same in the New AP
men's basketball, led by Auburn. The unanimous number one in
women's basketball UCLA at twenty and oh is still number one,
number two ranks. South Carolina won at Tennessee tonight, seventy
to sixty three. The Dallas Cowboys interviewed Matt Eberflus for
(32:13):
defensive coordinator. New Orleans was due to interview Kellen Moore
for head coach tonight. In the NBA. A couple of
late games, we had Milwaukee getting a win at Utah
one twenty five to one ten. The Utah Jazz with
a record of ten and thirty four, and the Sons
are holding on with under two minutes left, leading the
Clippers one oh seven to one oh two. Devin Booker
with twenty six points. Houston was a winner at Boston
(32:35):
one fourteen to one twelve. Houston thirty one and fourteen
this year, thirty two wins for Boston so far. But
for the Rockets, the game winning shot came from a
men Thompson with one second left. He had thirty three points,
Dylan Brooks with thirty six from three point range. Brooks
was ten of fifteen. And then there was the first
quarter enjoyed by Klay Thompson in a Dallas uniform at home.
(32:58):
The MAVs whipped Washington on thirty to one. Eight Wizards
have lost fourteen straight. Dallas led this game after about
eight minutes, twenty eight to seven. Klay Thompson in the
first quarter from three point range was seven of ten
twenty one points. He finished with twenty.
Speaker 1 (33:13):
Oh wait now wait now wait see waits he wait.
I want to do this. I want to give people
in Dallas a great memory. After the first quarter of
a game Dallas led twenty eight to seven. Okay, just
Cowboys fans, just think about that. Think of it. After
the first quarter, Dallas leading a game twenty eight to seven.
Just okay, close youruight now, open your eyes back to reality.
Speaker 3 (33:33):
But then Klay Thompson kind of bobbled a catch and
it was ruled not a catch. And then at the
end they didn't actually sorry, Lakers held to underwent it.
Charlotte won twelve seven, Anthony Davis forty two points, twenty
three rebounds. New York a one forty three to one
oh six decision over Memphis, which had won six straight.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
And that was no decision, that was a knockout, That
was no decision.
Speaker 3 (33:54):
That did not go, that did not go to the
judge's cards. New York had twenty steals in that game
as well. So while the Lakers have won four straight,
and now the Knicks have won four straight, and you've
you've got Miami in double overtime beating Orlando one twenty
five to one nineteen. And yes, Jimmy Butler was suspended again.
It's called indefinite in other words, to the trade deadline.
Speaker 1 (34:17):

(35:21):
quarterbacks have played yesterday, all four of them who had
the best day. Mahomes had a great day, Jalen Jail
Hurts had a great day all right, Jayden Daniels had
an okay day even though he wasn't great. Josh Allen
had a really good day even though it wasn't enough.
Speaker 5 (35:38):
Don't forget Cleete Blakeman had an amazing Cleete Blakeman.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Always has a good but he does a LAFS game,
always does a.
Speaker 3 (35:45):
Great former Nebraska backup quarterback Cleo he's a quarterback.
Speaker 1 (35:49):
Uh. But the quarterback who had the best day, quite honestly,
was Tom Brady. Yesterday was was, without a doubt, his
best broadcast of the year. And he is someone who
has struggled more than I thought he would struggle this year.
We talked with this a couple of weeks ago that
I feel like the sea it didn't come as naturally
to him, and he gets caught up in trying to
(36:12):
talk so much and about the play that just happened
to explain a lot of different things. I don't feel
like it's the The game has slowed down from as
a broadcaster, and I think probably would have been better
to bring Brady in as part of a three man
booth so we can kind of get his feet wet,
understand when to be Tom Brady tell a funny story
here and there. So it wasn't quite what it was
(36:32):
what it should have been this first year.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
But unfortunately they're paying him the equivalent of three men
and therefore sure.
Speaker 1 (36:37):
Yeah, exactly so, But but they could they could. You
could have had somebody else on being a meat and
potatoes analysts, and Brady could come in and tell a story,
you talk about what this quarterback did it?
Speaker 3 (36:45):
What if you need to baby an analyst like that,
You shouldn't pay him, Well, just one year, give it
one year, let him get in it. Well, because it's
a ten year investment, right, ten year investment would be
better for the product. Yes, So this year has been
kind of difficult for him because I wanted him to
tell him more stories. I wanted him to give more
person out. The guy's got twenty years in the NFL,
and everybody is just dying for anything. You would have
(37:05):
to say, anything he'd have to say about breaking down
what a quarterback saw on this play, what he didn't.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
But yesterday was his best game. Now still a little
bit too much of as soon as the play is over,
I want to get in everything I can and talk
when Okay, if you get stopped on second and six
for three yards, I don't really need a whole thing
behind that play. Okay, certain three, Okay, we'll worry about
this one. You know, let it breathe a little bit,
and you can breathe a little bit. But yesterday was
his best game. And there were times where he was
(37:32):
starting to anticipate the plays, and I had no problem
doing it. In the big fourth down play when when
the Commanders were trying trying to stay in the game
in the third quarter and they went for it, and
Brady circled zach Ertz to go, this is where they
like to go, right here, this part of the field,
And what did Jaden Daniels do and out to zach
Ertz for a first down.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
Yeah, And Roon circled Worthy once and he came across
and you can see him get the big game.
Speaker 1 (37:54):
Yeah, and I could, I could see it. But that's
where I saw for Brady. Okay, he's starting to get
it now a little bit. He's starting to get that.
I can give a little bit more personality here. I
still would like to have times where when he would
talk about the running of Jane. Oh, I never ran,
I could never run. I could never run. Tell me
a fun story about you trying to run in a
game once, tell me funny Oh man, I'll tell you what.
And ray Lewis hit me so hard I thought I
(38:15):
had the EDUA tell a funny story like that when
he says, oh, he can run, I can't run like that.
KB and Kevin Burkhart would laugh. Here, tell me a story,
tell me the story on me, something about and your
wife said, my husband can't throw the ball and catch
the ball.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
That was a funny one. Tell that one again.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Threw all of your teammates under the bus. That was awesome.
Top No, But that was that was what I saw
yesterday was much more of a he saved his best
game for now, right, Like almost like a player who
you see as a rookie come in and have a
lot of difficulty. But the last three or four games
of the year, hey, he starts to play really really well.
You look forward to next year, Like now I see Brady.
(38:52):
I'm looking forward to to now the rest of his
career and what he comes back with next year, because
that was his best game, was his biggest spotlight, and
it was his best game. He anticipated the plays, he
explained stuff, he broke stuff down. Again, it wasn't perfect,
but again you can see why. Okay, I understand now
as he gets more comfortable, he'll give his opinions, more
people will care about what he says. And here here's
(39:13):
what Brady. When Brady said this during that time out
in the fourth quarter about the Ravens defensive line, whatever
he wants to say. Hey, that's a news making thing,
kind of like what Troy Aikman does on Monday nights.
He picks his spots and when he has a minute
with Joe Buck to talk about whatever. Hey, that's when
he says, I don't know what the hell the Cowboys
are doing. Oh, look at this. But what I saw
(39:35):
from yesterday from Brady, from the entire game, I said,
he's a little bit different. Maybe he knew or maybe
he was just feeling more comfortable, but he was a
little bit different yesterday. And the amount of pre snap
predictions what he was able to say like that was
really more of what I expected from him from the beginning.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
So this is a positive comment. We won't say otherwise,
but it does point out how low the bar has
become for guys, even in the number one seat, the
top analyst at an NFL network. There isn't a bigger
job in analysis in all of sports in this country.
That's the gig as far as live action games. And
(40:14):
you know, we've still got Collins Worth for years being
very good on Sunday nights, And unfortunately we still have
Tony Romo drawing on the screen after the plays.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Throw whatever I want to Jim, look at this, Jill,
look at spider.
Speaker 3 (40:25):
Man, Jim, spider Man memo to Brady and to Romo
and all other color man. While we're at it, the
guy next to you, the title of his job is
called play by play. So when the play starts a
you need to shut up and B the screen needs
to be clear of your drawings. Man, if you weren'd
(40:45):
in TV production, if I.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
Was about five years old, hey, clean your table, up
your drawing before you go outside of recess.
Speaker 3 (40:51):
If I had to cut up highlights of games where
the analyst has this the play has started, but the
analyst drawings are still on the screen, I have to
say somehow get around that in order to use the
highlight on that night's show. That would drive me Maddie
because it does as a fan like you've you just
had thirty seconds to speak your play by play guy
(41:12):
has ten shut up?
Speaker 1 (41:14):
Jason Smith, Steve desagar In from Mike Carmon. We'll have
more on this coming up next another great coach press
conference
