Speaker 1 (00:28):
Greetings, Welcome in Side hour two Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
Ginny Up, let's go.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
This isn't just a game, It's a once at a
generation event, the Harlem Globetrotter's one hundred Year Tour. Come
be a part of a legacy that never stops. Be
there when history is made, The Hollom Globetrotter's one hundred
Year Tour. Get your tickets today at Harlem Globetrotters dot com.
That's at Harlem Globetrotters dot com. Well, big update from
Monday Night football.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Here we go.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Four and a half left to go. Lions lead the
Ravens thirty one twenty four. The Lions have the football
after stopping the Ravens and now they can run the
clock out if they can move the chains a couple
more times. Jamiir Gibbs has just run for a first down,
so that'll be a fresh set of downs for the
Lions again. Just over four minutes left to go. The

(01:14):
Ravens do have all three timeouts, and I think you
know NFL fans are gonna sit back and go Okay,
the Ravens field goal they gave him twenty four points
was clearly questionable and I don't know that it passed
over the uprights, but wow, is that gonna be a
big firestorm depending on how this game ends, does it
take over for the tush push. Now we have to

(01:35):
adjudicate how we uh review field goals. Well, you know,
man in the booth like that, you gotta go to
the booth and get the little guy, like.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
If it's a what is it rugby, that little dude
with the cool hat.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Oh yeah, the points it does and the points it does,
the whole history onics see see, I'm just thinking more.
You're gonna get mahomes going. See, we gotta have this
at home when we played games. We gotta have that.
If it's no good, if Bucker misses because he's missed
a couple. Just gotta say it's good and and and
it's good, and no one's gonna character real the chiefs.

Speaker 3 (02:03):
So just thatland's average, if it's good, it's even even
if it really misses.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Just don't show it, just cause our fans will cheer
NBV fine field go'll be good? And do they go
up and actually measure that the All the goal posts
are the same, you know, thickness the same with right.
Really maybe you shave them off a little bit so
you steal a couple of inches on either side. We
don't even have field goal posts aren't real. We just
got kind of beam them in. It's like a big
hologram and we make it as wide as it needs

(02:30):
to be for the field goal. So if it's if
it's really really wide, we just linked in the goal
post out looks good on television.

Speaker 3 (02:35):
That's all it is what we do.

Speaker 1 (02:36):
You got it drifted down into Scatman Crubbers a little
further than Patrick Mahomes permit the frog.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
You know, Scotman.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Scotman Cruthers, most overrated hero in a movie ever, finally
makes it and the shine I'm here to save you boom.
Come on, man, you gotta get you bet all this
whole big thing to get there, and you go all
through the planes, trains and automobiles to get there to
save the kid, and all of a sudden, you're there
for like five I'm here to save you and then sorry,
now now you're dead. Doesn't come on, man. He was

(03:04):
able to parlay that. Indid the lead role voice actor
for Hong Kong Fu.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
You shut up, superhero.

Speaker 1 (03:11):
So Lions lead the Ravens again just outside of the
two minute warning. Now facing a third and five. So
we'll have more on this game coming up.

Speaker 3 (03:19):
But I mentioned the.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Chiefs for a minute there, mentioned the Chiefs. I am
really one percent. I am done with Travis Kelcey. I'm
done with his historyonics in every game of him yelling
at his teammates, yelling at Andy Reid, like yesterday during
the win over the Giants. His video in the first half,
he's screaming at the guys. He's screaming at Andy Reid.

(03:41):
Andy Reid has to get in Travis Kelsey's face and
yell back at him. Now second half, this is the
end of the first half, and Andy Reid said today,
I don't mind the passion.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
I don't mind it. Bloke.

Speaker 1 (03:52):
Travis is that guy. He knew when we need a
kick in the pants and he said that. And look
you saw how the Chiefs came out in the second half, right,
Chris Worth was saying it the whole time. I don't
know what Andy Reid did at halftime, but wow, this
is a more focus Chiefs offense. And they just, you know,
pretty much put the hammer down on the Giants the
rest of the way. So I get that, and I
get that that's who Travis Kelsey is. I'm just done

(04:13):
with him yelling at everybody, and because he honestly, it's
a really it's just an awful optic and I see
him and I just go, dude, you're just embarrassing yourself
with this. You're just embarrassing yourself. I know you're done
as an NFL player. And he knows he's done. He's
not a guy affecting the games like he could anymore.
He is done. He has spent the last couple of

(04:34):
years live in the high life, live in the fast
Lane podcast superstar.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (04:39):
He's also when you get to your mid thirties, you're
at the end. And I get he's mad because he's
seeing I can't dominate games like I used to, and
I'm nearing the end. This is my last year in
the NFL. The Chiefs wouldn't give him more money another
year in his contract.

Speaker 3 (04:52):
I want more.

Speaker 1 (04:53):
I want more, Dude. We know you're done, right, we
know you're finished. So I get the frustration, but just
this whole yelling every single time when things aren't going right,
especially when you're yelling and you're not backing it up.
It's one thing to yell and say follow me, follow
me to freedom, and he does all Charlie Steiners Sports
inner commercial right. But when you say, hey, come on,
we gotta do it, and then you drop you drop
a pass, it turns into a pick that cost your

(05:14):
team the game, or you don't really affect the the
the game.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Like you used to.

Speaker 1 (05:18):
Just you're just embarrassing yourself, and I feel like you're
just losing your you're losing your cool and you're losing
your your head because you're just you're mad that you're
not playing well and the Chiefs aren't playing well, and
it's just a broken record over and over again. I'm like, dude,
come on, you just you just look bad. It's a
really bad optic that every time we see Travis Kelcey
here he is hero. All he's doing is yelling at

(05:40):
his teammates are yelling at his head coach. Again, it's
time just stop, just go play and and if if
you you can't affect the game. Okay, I understand that,
but man, really, every week this is with traviscot.

Speaker 3 (05:51):
I'm done with this.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
I'm time placed down distance and obviously histrionics are going
to be much more acceptable the eccentricities of players coaches gs.
Remember Mike McDaniel was really really just quirky and cute
when he first got the job with the Dolphins because
the offense was working. Now it's well, it's a word
sound not quirky, not cute. Right now, like all of

(06:13):
it's gone now, it's like he doesn't know what he's doing.
He's just making it up as he goes along. Right,
It's no longer, no longer the thing that folks want
to go on board. It's they've flipped one hundred and
eighty degrees with Travis Kelcey. Last year's still ninety seven receptions,
not a lot of separation, not a lot of Yak
and certainly not a lot of red zone success. But
you don't have the pull the punches like you had

(06:35):
right pulling the strings with Tyreek Hill over the top.
You're able to make it work and you're able to
win games, but it's not the same level of efficiency.
And then, certainly for this year, you're still trying to
figure out how it's going to play out. And we'll
see once the rest of the wide receivers come back.
But in the interim, he's had two plays already. Week one,

(06:56):
Remember that half assed drag across the middle that he did.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
Were he and Mahomes.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Clearly he didn't speed up properly or Mahomes didn't read
a probably, but that should have been a fall into
the end zone play instead falls harmlessly in complete. Week two,
you've got a catchable ball that turns into an interception,
should have been a touchdown. Week three, now you're complaining
you don't get the ball. Seven targets, four catches, but
you're not impacting the game and you're frustrated.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (07:21):
That's there's something to being a vocal leader, but when
you're running up to the coach.

Speaker 3 (07:27):
Like dad Dad, it's not it's working.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
It's gone past the inspiration to just now you just
look mad and you're you're losing your temper.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
That's what it was like to me.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
It's always there's that divide between if I'm win with
my position, group, the lineman, whatever, my offense, and we're
getting after it a little bit, then I can still
get into the leader thing. But if you're going to
the coach like, what the hell is what's the communication
with Andy Reid?

Speaker 3 (07:51):
At that point? You know, and look, and that's the thing, right.

Speaker 1 (07:53):
We saw it with him in the Super Bowl yelling
at Andy Reid when I'm not getting the ball enough.
We've seen it now so many times to the point
where I almost feel like, you know, and I said
this about Tom Brady, is that how many times when
the Patriots weren't playing well did you see during a
game him yelling at his offensive line in the sideline
right like a bit of a I want you to know,

(08:14):
it's not my fault. Right, it's not my fault. I'm
yelling at my offensive line. And I've seen that so
many times now, Togo, Okay, this is Brady wanting you
to knowing what the optics are like knowing the camera
is on him and he's yelling at his offensive line,
and I want to. I almost feel like Travis Kelcey
is doing the same thing. I'm not having a good game.
We're not having a good game, and it's people are

(08:35):
gonna blame me because I'm the image optic of this
team now, as great as Mahomes is. But I'm dating
Taylor Swift. I know that you know the type of
impact that I have what people say about me. So
I'm gonna yell at everybody because i want people to go, hey,
look at me leading I can't do anything on the field,
but I'm now yelling at Legua And part of me
thinks there's a large premise says okay, when he's not

(08:56):
playing well, he knows and he gets frustrated with that
and he doesn't want people to say bad things about
him and blame So I'm just gonna yell. I'm gonna
yell at everybody in the side, and it looks bad.
I mean, and it's not like I'm yelling all the time.
I'm yelling before a big drive, I'm yelling at no
I'm yelling at all random times during a game after
I'm not getting the ball after our offense not playing well, Like,
what are you trying to accomplish?

Speaker 3 (09:16):
Are really you yelling? Andy Reid now.

Speaker 1 (09:18):
Has to yell at you and say, dude, what the
hell are you doing? Okay, just stop. I'm the coach
of this team. Just stop. Like, I don't know the
purpose other than to serve to try to help him
or deflect blame when people want to say, hey, it's
your fault. Yeah, But here's the problem is that I
like to think some of us, not all of us,
some of us are smarter than that. We see what
we see during a game. It's like, you're not playing well,

(09:39):
You're a step slower. We go back to the Super Bowl. Look,
I'll give him credit for battling through the regular season,
finishes with a high target and catch count, but then
he had nothing left in the tank when you actually
got into the playoffs in the Super Bowl, where there
were a couple of give up efforts on blocks he
should have made and stuff of that ilk like the
fundamentals of it. For this year, you're off to a

(10:02):
rough start and clearly growing pains for this offense.

Speaker 3 (10:06):
Defense is pretty good. It's gonna keep you in games.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Might actually win you a couple of games before it's
all said and done, and the schedule makers.

Speaker 3 (10:12):
Did you no favors.

Speaker 1 (10:13):
Right, it's one heavyweight battle after another, right off to jump, right,
because even this week, you know, we we've got another
big game because they've got they've got.

Speaker 3 (10:22):
Baltimore this week.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Right, so you know you're you're looking at you know,
another big defensive effort you're going to need and guess what,
even at their best, that means you're gonna need to
score at least twenty four points to win.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
So good luck on that.

Speaker 1 (10:35):
But but all of that is, it's not gonna obfuskate
our opinion of where you're at as a player. We
all recognize this is the last rodeo, all right, there's
there's nothing around that unless suddenly you had some some
superhuman Uh well go back to you know, Hong Kong
fu and turning into a superhero.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
Uh see what I did there?

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Ah, yeah, no, it's because it's still related to your
Patrick Mahomes improd.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
So it all works. But unless that's.

Speaker 1 (11:00):
Suddenly gonna happen and you're putting on a cape, it's done, right,
So you have to figure out how to make those
other wide receivers the best versions of themselves. They can
be support mahomes why you can, But the tantrums aren't
gonna hide the fact that you're a diminished capacity at
this point. Exit out about a Fresco exit swalling down
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon live from the

Fox Sports Radio studios. At University of Maryland Global Campus.
You can choose for more than eight sixty five graduate
online degrees and certificates, including our MBA now with ten
specializations class to start soon vis at UMGC dot edu.
That's UMGC dot edu. So when you talk about Travis
Kelcey and next week getting the Ravens, somebody's going to

(11:45):
one in three because the Lions are putting the finishing
touches on. What's gonna wind up being a thirty eight
to twenty four win over the Baltimore Ravens in the
last few minutes has been everything the Lions have shown
you the last couple of years to become the big
time Super Bowl contender that they've been. With the ball

(12:05):
and a touchdown lead, they were facing a fourth and
two near midfield, and I said, well, of course they're
gonna go for it because this is what Dan Campbell does.
We're going for it on fourth down, fourth and two.
We could potentially win the game. They've been running the
football really well. David Montgomery had one hundred yard game.
It was it looked like we're going to get something
two yards a play action pass even though I'm on

(12:27):
Ross Saint Brown gets grabbed the line of scrimmage. They
throw a flag, it doesn't matter. Jared Goff leads him perfectly.
They pick up about twenty yards on the play. Two
plays later, David Montgomery is in the end zone from
twenty five yards out. It's a thirty eight to twenty
four lead for the Lions right now. No matter where
you look, this has been a team that has come through.

(12:48):
It's been a big day for Jared Goff. Incredibly accurate
throwing the football, running the football they've run for two
twenty five on them and David Montgomery with one hundred
and fifty yards. I'm on ross Aint Brown seven for
seventy seven in a touchdown. He's had big game. The
Lions up by two touchdowns now with less than a
minute left to go. This is everything you have seen
has been the Lions showing you why we're a Super

(13:09):
Bowl contender, making the big, gutsy plays and why next
week we're gonna say wow, Chiefs and Ravens, which we
thought could be the AFC Championship game. One of these
teams is gonna be one and three, and I think
it's gonna be the Chiefs. But one of these teams
is gonna be one and three. John Morton and his
unit getting it done. Rag now retires in June, and
it's a question of whether that offensive line is gonna

(13:32):
be able to pick up how much difference does this
team look coming into the new year with Ben Johnson gone,
your guy, Aaron Glenn strutting down the sidelines after big plays.

Speaker 3 (13:43):
And yeah, that Week one.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Miserable effort against Green Bay to where it's like, all right,
what is this? And you don't know from week one
right week two we watch the Packers defense dominate again.
The Lions go up and down and absolutely obliterate and
embarrass the Chicago Bears to where they're recreating offensive lineman
celebrations after touchdowns. But then here we are in week

(14:07):
three and you're taking on a pretty good Ravens squad. Now,
we watched the first first game, they collapsed against the
Bills after dominating most of that game. It's a game
of sixty minutes. And then last week you have the
Browns take it with a grain assault. They are what
they are, but we're watching the Ravens defense giving up
chunk yardage and absolutely getting obliterated at the line of

(14:29):
scrimmage time and time again.

Speaker 3 (14:31):
David Montgomery with a massive game.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yeah, I mean this has been and this has been
an incredible effort by the Lions. In the second half,
they're thirty five seconds away from going to two and one.
I mean, really, look, I feel much better after this
week about my you know, Lions NFC championship Lions Rams. Okay,
Rams had a tough one, but I get it, But
I feel much better about the Lions after this.

Speaker 3 (14:52):
They felt that.

Speaker 1 (14:53):
The game three weeks ago to the Packers feels like
it was a year ago, Like, wow, really struggled that much?
Got Okay, Well, maybe the uh, maybe the coordinators really
know what they're doing. Maybe John Morton knows what he's
doing is offensive coordinator Foh.

Speaker 3 (15:07):
Maybe the Packers really aren't that great?

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Brown right, Shay Brown, Joe Exit, Hey, we actually have
a Browns fan working on the show today, So I
got the fist put there you go, exit out about
a Fresca exit swollen down. The Jason Smith Show with

out for you every single night. Well right now, Jared
Goff is hyping up the crowd in bal Tour on
his way off the field following his postgame interview. The
Lions doing Lions things late in the fourth quarter of

(17:46):
this game pulled away from the Ravens thirty eight to
twenty four. Their personality on display a fourth and two
play action pass that turns into a first down that
two plays later is a David Montgomery touched down. They
hold on to win this a thirty eight to thirty
rather of the final Baltimore does get a touchdown, they
go for two for some crazy reason, don't get it uh,

(18:08):
and then don't get the on side kick after a
Neil play.

Speaker 3 (18:12):
That is it.

Speaker 1 (18:12):
The Lions go to two and one, and the Ravens
and the Chiefs will hook up next week and one
of them is going to be zero to three. Joining
us now in the hot line to break it all down.
Nobody better than longtime NFL insider thirty third team. He
is a Hall of Very Good voter who will put
a lot of players from this game into the Hall
of very Good because this is a very good football
game tonight it is Jason cole Jay calls happening.

Speaker 6 (18:35):
Man, I'm feeling very good. I'm feeling really, really very good,
fantastic about mine. They're going for two. I liked because
they were going to try and win the game in regulation,
and when your defense is playing that bad, you take
you gotta take a extra shot at it, if that

(18:57):
makes sense. And like to me, this was Zach Or
the defensive quarter for the Ravens is almost gone. That's
because it's a huge indictment when you say we're at
home and I'm so desperate that I have to go

(19:19):
for two in this situation to try and win in
regulation after we get the if we get the on
side pick, and when they managed to score I don't
trust our defense enough to go to overtime. That's how
bad things are defensively for bothiare, I mean they are.
This is the worst Ravens defense I've seen twenty years,

(19:45):
twenty five years. I mean, they're really really bad right now.
Like there's no speed, Like they're playing like they're playing
like they're in sand Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:55):
No, they made David Montgomery look like Barry Sanders on
some of the runs. I'm like, he's he's knuckles, He's
not sonic. If that was Jamire Gibbs, I get it.
This is David Montgomery looks like he's Barry Sanders.

Speaker 6 (20:07):
Yeah. I mean I know that the turn line is good, right,
and but this is this was just like, oh, we're
gonna play toe to toe, hand to hand combat with
one of the best offensive lines in all football. And
it's like you got it? I mean, how about a

(20:29):
stunt once in a while? Do we do that? How
about a blitz once in a while like that? You got? Yeah,
you got anything where you can shift your life? How
about you know, like why didn't still look at Rex
Ryan's old play calls and say let's run an overload
blitz once in a while. Just to scare, you know,
Jared goffin get him off of his game. I mean

(20:49):
the whole point to Jared Goff is to get him
off platform, because I just loved the one where golf went.
He started scrambling out to his left. I got to
like the hash mark, and he said, that'screw it. I'll
just throw this thing out of bounce like no attempt
to do like the justin Herbert. Let me throw it
back against my body and you know see if Keenan

(21:12):
Allen can get it like it's like no, no, no,
we don't do that because Jared Goff can't do that.
He's just incapable of doing that, and Baltimore was incapable
of making him feel uncomfortable on a consistent basis. I mean,
this is I just I've watched the Baltimore defense for
a long time, and these for these first three weeks.

(21:33):
I mean, they're got awful. They're just got awful right now.

Speaker 3 (21:37):
Well, it's fun is next Sunday.

Speaker 1 (21:38):
As Jason alluded to, we got one team's going to
go to one and three, either the Ravens or the Chiefs.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Good times.

Speaker 6 (21:47):
Yeah, this is the game that Baltimore can handle because
the Chiefs can only play little ball right now, like
they can. This is like watching Jean mock manage in baseball, Like,
let's bumg in the first Yeah, like they're just.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Dude, No, I got that, and Harmon got that. Nobody
else in the world got that reference.

Speaker 3 (22:08):
But we got that.

Speaker 6 (22:09):
And that's okay.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Steve Disaga got it as well. He's he's clapping for
you right now. Steve de Saga got that as well.

Speaker 3 (22:15):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
Yeah, So there are three people who under the three
people from in the world, well actually four because he
included me. Who remember gene b right, Like we'll do
a more modern reference. Jimmy de Leland. We used to
when he was in Pittsburgh. Remember when he would have
jade bell.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
And he would smoke in the dugout because it was
so stressful for him.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
I love jim Lean.

Speaker 6 (22:39):
Yeah, jim Leland is one of the best of all times.
Like bunting in the first inning, but that's basically what
Andy Andy Reid's team is reduced to bunting in the
first inning because they got like, there's no worthy, there's
no Rashy Rise, there's no attack. Yeah, and and and
Travis Kelsey is like, hey, what what what? What are

(23:03):
we ordering for the wedding reception? Like that's all he's
doing right now?

Speaker 1 (23:07):
Well, no, he's very mad during the game because he
wants people to know that he's leading. And it's patchionate
when he's not catching passes.

Speaker 6 (23:14):
When he's not catching passes that were injuring his teammates. Yeah,
he turns right, he's fantastic.

Speaker 1 (23:21):
Ye, Now, flip side of this, J Cole maybe and
I'm going out on a limb here, maybe John Morton
knows what he's doing.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
His Lions offensive coordinators, some of those.

Speaker 6 (23:31):
Calls, he's terrific. You know, I don't want to say
sit here and say the Ravens, you know, got played
by some awful team. All right, this was Yeah, they're
playing a top level team, but the Ravens are supposed
to be right there with them. And everybody talked about

(23:53):
how this was supposed to be the best defense they've
had in a few years now.

Speaker 1 (23:58):
Most talented Ravens roster, that's all we were told repeatedly
throughout the preset, best roster they've ever had all the.

Speaker 6 (24:05):
Way, Yes, exactly, And when you watch the defense, the
other offense is okay, you know, they're making some mistakes
that are fixable. I mean, Derrick Henry is not going
to fumble seventeen times this year and lose them all.
So I just don't believe that that's going to happen,
especially in the second half or fourth quarter whatever whatever
that ridiculous stat is that he's got right now. But

(24:26):
that's not going to happen. And they're going to figure
out the small things that they're screwing up on offense
because they're scoring points, and they scored enough points in
Buffalo in the opening week they should have won there.
And the offense was good enough if they eliminate a
couple of mistakes that they would have been right there.
The problem is the defense is terrible right now, and

(24:48):
and they just they're like they just line up and
take on blockers and they're slow off the line of scrimmage.
And you played that way on a Monday night at home.
This is the time when you're supposed to be as
jacked up as possible, and you're playing like you're just

(25:10):
going through the motions like this is pre season. So
I just I got questions for Zach Orr after this one.
And if I don't like the if I'm Steve Dashatti,
who has been part of firing four Dinators you know before,
such as in their Super Bowl championship season when they
got rid of who was the who was the offensive

(25:31):
coordinator that their replaced with Jim Caldwell. It was the
goofy guy who was down in as the head coach
in Miami for a while for the one season when
they went one in fifteen, Cameron. Yeah, it was Cam Cameron.
Remember they fired Cam Cameron with like three or four
games left in the season.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
They walked John Beck in the second round to be there.
Quote yeah, yeah, yeah, that.

Speaker 6 (25:57):
Was right, yeah, right, Like that whole thing. Like, you know,
Steve Mashatti has has said, you know, we'll make a
move and and he may turn to John Harbaugh and say, look,
you better bring Mink Martindale back and get him to
take advantage of the greatest roster that you've ever built,

(26:18):
you know, in Raven's Sister or whatever you're saying. Because
this ain't good enough, because Zach Orr is not getting
it done at least through three games. I want, I
want some very serious answers from Zach Orr about how
things are going to change and if I don't like
all the answers, and like time to move on because
this is just not good enough.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Now I'm gonna celebrate all the works of Wake Martindale.
Go watch some game show Network. He's Jason Gole, he's
with us, I'm Mike Arment. That Jason Smith, Jason Smith,
Joe and Michael.

Speaker 6 (26:47):
Harmont is sounding so chipper. After that, after that that
Bear's victory yesterday.

Speaker 1 (26:53):
Oh, I mean, there's there's something about, you know, an offense,
clicking and and and getting back at eber Flu's and
taking advantage of what's on the schedule.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
In other words, here's some easy prey, go.

Speaker 6 (27:05):
Get it, we're going or just simp late. Oh my god,
Caleb might be good. Oh god, I was okay with
that though jamb he might be gone.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Yeah, but we've talked about that.

Speaker 6 (27:16):
I'm so happy he might be good. I quarterback than
Rick Myer in my lifetime. I might wow.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Look at that he got a Rick Myra who was
with the Bears for a stretch time. I had Jason
call sixty two where you find me The Averse thirty
third Team, author of many books you can find on Amazon.

Speaker 3 (27:37):
Stock Up the holidays cometh soon. But Jay Cole.

Speaker 1 (27:41):
I mean, look, you take advantage of what they're what's
there the deep ball early and often against this squad.
But I've been pointing out with Jason over the course
of our first couple hours here on air. I just
love the nineteen play drive. I know the players may
not love it, but when you can impose your will,
that's always a nice little pull the string on a moment.

Speaker 6 (28:01):
Well, I mean there's two two drives of ninety five
scards are longer like that. That's not that's not that's
not what's happening. As bad teams like you can have
a bad defense and you shouldn't give up to ninety
five yard drives like you should be able to stop that.

(28:21):
And they just gutted them, especially on the ninety eight yarder.
They just they literally gutted them that whole drive. Again.
That's where I sit here and I say, this is
one of the least active Ravens defenses I've ever seen.
And I don't understand it. I don't get it. I

(28:42):
know I'm saying I'm not congratulating the Lions perhaps the
way they should.

Speaker 3 (28:47):
No, you're not. You're a Lions hater. You can never
go to Detroit. You I hate the line.

Speaker 6 (28:53):
I am a liont hater and this is well established.
Everybody knows that. You know, for years and years and years,
I've harbored some secret hate you because you hate.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Simms, You hate Eric Hipple, you hate.

Speaker 6 (29:04):
Dan Campbell, Eric especially Eric.

Speaker 1 (29:07):
You hate Fons, You hate everything about Detroit. You hate
them all. You hate Jack Morris, you hate Alan Trammel everything. Wow,
Steve Eiserman, Dave bing Ding, I couldn't stand that guy
even going out of Syracuse.

Speaker 6 (29:24):
Yeah, chat Walker, Yeah, I hated them all. Uh yeah,
well I did. I did hate Lambert. I really did
hate Lambert and Rick Horn. That's a lot of love. Yeah,
that's John john Sally was amusing Isaiah Thomas hated him anyways,

(29:46):
like Benny Johnson because like I started a pattern in
my jump shot after Benny Johnson when I still have one.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
Anyways, I hate Benny bladees. Yeah, no, sure, I get it.

Speaker 6 (29:55):
I understand, Yeah, Bennie, But I got some good Benny
Blade stories that we can't tell on.

Speaker 1 (30:00):
This Okay, way, left journal, Let's get a Betty Blade
and a Jean walk story at once.

Speaker 3 (30:07):
That'll be great, people. Story holds up.

Speaker 6 (30:11):
It works man, Benny Blades and Jeane mocks not normally
in the same conversation. Not normally, not normally. Let's just
say it's all about the you baby and and uh
and and you thuggery. Let's just put it that way. Wow,

(30:31):
where were we on this whole thing?

Speaker 3 (30:33):
I asked a question about the bars, and.

Speaker 6 (30:37):
I was heading Detroit. I was, you know Detroit, Yes,
because I wasn't giving them enough credit, like brilliant game. Yeah,
Detroit one.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
It's too late now. No, it's too late now. No,
it's too late.

Speaker 6 (30:47):
Yeah, it's it's hollow. It's hollow. It's hollow. Praise. I
just this is just from a team. I was expecting more,
a more competitive effort from Baltimore. They expect we're going
to give up twenty four to twenty eight points, and
that was going to be a dog fight that way.
I didn't expect that they were going to get you know,
boat raced in this one. And they got boat raced

(31:09):
in this one. This is this is bad. This is
a bad effort by Baltimore, one of the worst I've seen,
especially in a home game on Monday night. So moving
on to we're going to talk about.

Speaker 3 (31:20):
There no, no, no, we're done.

Speaker 6 (31:23):
We're talking about we're going to talk about Jerry Jones
and his his how things are going and how he cleanses.
They still got a playoff team. Ye.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
No, you're going to join us on Wednesday, Right, we're
going to talk about it. Right, you can join us
again this week we'll talk about.

Speaker 6 (31:36):
Yeah, I didn't know. I didn't know this was a
double play week, double up.

Speaker 3 (31:40):
That's what I'll send you, an extra Salmon's double play with.

Speaker 6 (31:45):
I say, we're going to make some moves here.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
We got to stop the run. I told you we
got to stop the run, and we're.

Speaker 2 (31:53):
Going to stop now.

Speaker 6 (31:54):
We can't stop pass. That's a whole nother problem. Yeah. Yeah,
we were going to stop the run. Did you draft
anybody in the draft to stop for you know, we
didn't think it was really important.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
No, no, no. In free agency we didn't do it
there either.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
But now, really, Steven told me it's important to stop
the run, so we're gonna do it.

Speaker 6 (32:13):
Yeah, it's very important not to say your starts. It's
very important to stop the run. That's all kind of dude. Yeah,
and save money on the start because we got paid
the guard. You know, on the other side. We you
know that guard that what's what's his name? Smith?

Speaker 3 (32:29):
Yeah, yeah, still I.

Speaker 6 (32:31):
Think it's I think that's ems, you know, youngest son.

Speaker 3 (32:35):
I'm still paying guard. I don't know if you know,
I inherited.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Stallbacks contract from nineteen seventy six, still paying that.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
It's a whole taxi.

Speaker 6 (32:42):
Yeah, he was making all of about forty five housd Yeah.

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Yeah, I got fit.

Speaker 6 (32:47):
I got fit him under the I got to feed
him under.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
The Yeah, forty five nineteen seventy six is fourteen million now,
so uh, it's to be a bit rate of.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Fl We'll talk to you later this week, buddy, have.

Speaker 1 (32:59):
Fun and Jacob goes Jacob time to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
On special delivery, Steve to Saga SD. What do you got,
my friend?

Speaker 7 (33:10):
If you're asking, what's the name of that Dallas lineman,
the answer is probably Tyler Tyler. They got Tyler Booker
is hurt. No, you got Tyler Smith, Tyler Goton.

Speaker 3 (33:19):
And it's appropriate. We have President Tyler, that's right. I
voted for him. I don't know if you know this,
And I've voted for Toner my first election that's right.

Speaker 7 (33:29):
Tippy toe canoe and Tyler too. Boy, they are tippy
toeing around the problems on that roster with true. By
the way, somebody's got to fire that GM.

Speaker 3 (33:37):
Jerry's got to get well, we're gonna stop. Don't worry,
we'll stop the run. Don't worry, it's gonna happen.

Speaker 7 (33:41):
And stop making the playoffs. By the way, the g
Macker references are very appropriate at this time of the year,
because you know, he was long before he was the
Angels manager. He was the Phillies manager when they completely
collapsed in the last two weeks of a season nineteen
sixty four. They lost ten straight games and they gagged

(34:01):
literally a six and a half game lead in the
last two weeks and did not make the play I'll
introduce you the New York Mets have just entered the chat.

Speaker 3 (34:09):
That's right. I don't want to talk to you about
two thousand.

Speaker 7 (34:12):
In the last two and a half weeks, have a
record of four and eleven. So the Reds, who were
often I have won five in a row.

Speaker 3 (34:18):
I called information. I called four to one one. They
said the Mets are terrible. I said, okay, thank you.

Speaker 7 (34:23):
The Reds for now on the last NL wildcard because
they have the tiebreaker over the Mets, and he did
reference this what went on with the two long touchdown
drives of the line.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
In fact, they're the first team in almost four years.

Speaker 7 (34:35):
In the NFL to have two TD drives of at
least ninety five yards in the same game. And one
of those was a ninety eight yard touchdown drive that
lasted almost eleven minutes and it had thirteen running plays
in it that wound up with a TV on the drive,
most runs in a touchdown drive since at least two
thousand in the NFL. And Derek Henry did fumble for
a third straight game. Detroit won at Baltimore thirty eight thirty.

(34:57):
But Henry's had a couple of fourth quarter fumbles already
this season. If you look at the last three Septembers.
Now in the NFL, only two guys have lost two
fourth quarter fumbles this early in the year, Derrick Henry
and Rookie cam Ward. This year, two touchdown runs for
Jamiir Gibbs and David Montgomery a win for the Lions
on the road, and Baltimore is now one and two.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
As for Major.

Speaker 7 (35:20):
League Baseball, light night, but the Brewers are holding on
at San Diego three to two in the top of
the six. Cardinals lead at the Giants six to four
bottom of the fifth. The starter for San Francisco was
three and ten justin Verlander. Giants have lost seven of nine.
Back to you, Thanks Steve Oh, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon
live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. We have more
breakdown of this game coming up. The Lions beat the Ravens.

(35:43):
Of Ravens are one and two, The Lions are two
and one. An appreciation moment for a guy from this
game that absolutely deserves it. That's next right here, Jason
and Mike Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (35:54):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm E seven

Speaker 3 (36:05):
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
Yeah, boy, do we.

Speaker 1 (36:10):
Have a hot take coming up ten minutes on the
Ravens coming off this game? Well, what's not that's not
the hot take that that's more like okay, yeah, yeah, yeah,
oh yeah, but I thought they were the best yeah.

Speaker 3 (36:25):
Yeah, the best roster, best roster. We've heard all of
your best roster, best roster.

Speaker 1 (36:30):
But because you know, thanks to Jason Cole for stopping
by and you know, hating on the lines the way
he did.

Speaker 3 (36:35):
He really did.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
He just got a baseball bat. It was just like
going to town. It's time for some equal time here. Uh,
an appreciation moment here for a guy that we've pushed for,
appreciated motion him in the past, because he's someone who
backs up everything he says. Agree or disagree with him.
He backs it up. You're not gonna say no, no, no,

(36:56):
no no. He had quotes going around.

Speaker 3 (36:58):
I don't know that. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, scoring yeah,
but the field mikes yeah, I'm on right. Yeah, it's
not good.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
Uh but but there's some guys like you know, like
look like Fran Brown a Syracuse a couple of weeks ago,
and when he made the Syracuse run sprints a game
against yukon right, and he said, I had to do
it because I can't say we're gonna do this and then.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
Not follow through, right.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
So I told if I say, if we don't play,
we're gonna run sprints, we're gonna do it, I gotta
follow I like a couple of jackass as. You say,
I'll turn this car around. You better Dan turn the
car around, yeah, Like like Dan Campbell, like I I'm
gonna go and and and Lions fans are are going
to understand that boy. He completely gave away the end
of the NFC Championship game against the forty nine Ers

(37:41):
by continuing to go for it on fourth down in
bad situations and play calls it didn't work, and throwing
the ball to players that it's they got jittery hand
in the fourth quarter of an NFC championship game. It's
different than going for it and fourth down Week three
against Baltimore.

Speaker 3 (37:56):
I defended him, but Dan, I am gonna say, but
I will say this.

Speaker 1 (38:01):
He is a guy that he says he's gonna do something,
he's got belief in his team, and he backs it
up right fourth and two at midfield. There was no
doubt in my mind when they're up by a touchdown
and a couple minutes left to go, they were gonna
go for it to try to win this game. Right,
This is not who they are win Every other team
in the NFL would punt and say, let's force Lamar
Jackson to go ninety five yards or ninety yards in

(38:22):
a couple of minutes and see if we could keep
him out of the end zone. No, we're gonna go
for it because we have the best offensive personnel in
the entire game. And they call a great play action pass,
they get a penalty on the play they don't need
because I'm on Ross. Saint Brown catches a great drop
throw from Jared Goff. They score a touchdown to win
this game. He says, we're gonna go for it, We're

(38:43):
gonna be physical, we're gonna do all of these things.
And there's no team is that embodies their head coach
more than Dan Campbell.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
And when he.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
Says we're gonna do this, this is the type of
team we're gonna be, they do it, and that's the
type of team they are. And there's no no wonder
why the Lions been able to succeed so much last
years because they've all bought in, like there is no
team that mirrors their personality, their coach's personality more than
the Lions do. And that's really something for guy who
came in when his first press conference was we're gonna

(39:14):
bite your knee caps if we actually dude, what are
you talking about?

Speaker 6 (39:16):
Man?

Speaker 3 (39:16):
Is this job too much for you?

Speaker 6 (39:17):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (39:18):
No, clearly this job is not too much for you,
because look at how you're succeeding with a team that
couldn't put one foot in front of the other for
the better part of twenty five years. Well, and you
give them credit is that they also didn't bail on him,
because year one was a three thirteen and one.

Speaker 3 (39:33):
Second year was nine and eight. Okay, so vast improvement.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
But even in a lot of cities you'd bounced the
guy after those two years, they're like, all right, we're
not there yet. Instead, you get a twelve and five
of fifteen and two, and now you're off to a
two and one. And even with losing the coordinators, Yeah,
you had a rough go week one and a lot
of questions surfaced. You've come back and you've shown top

(39:58):
top form once again. And it's funny we talk about
continuity consistency across the National Football League. Most of your
coaches have been hired in the last three to four years. Right,
you know, you don't have a lot of long tenured guys.
You got Andy Reid over there, you got Tomlin, and
now like Dan Campbell's like an elder damn statesman. Right,
we see what's starting to happen and really starting to

(40:19):
kick into all of the year with the Chargers. Plenty
to talk about with them over the course of the
week in terms of that victory. But when we look
at what the Lions have become like, they're never counted
out as long as you can keep running the football.
I mean with Morton, Yeah, the trickeration goes out the
window to a degree. You saw some of it play
out tonight, and they came back out of the separate bag.

(40:42):
But if that offensive line is going to play together
that well after ragnow retires in the summer, this is
game three, how much better can they get? How much
more efficient? Golf didn't have to do a whole lot tonight? No, No,
he made a couple of when you run for two
hundred and seventy yards.

Speaker 3 (41:01):
Okay, but what what.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
Happened on the next play after that? Ravens exhaled, My god,
blah blah. There still got three timeouts. Montgomery busts off
the thirty one yard touchdown, runs up. Well, that's it,
we just got uppercut. Oh it's over again. Oh wow,
exactly Okay, wow, we just sid from Muskrat Dinner. Who
so appreciation moment for Dan Campbell lines get the win

(41:23):
Coming up next. You want a hot take on a
team everybody thought was going to the super Bowl preseason, yet.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
We got it for you. Next, Jason and Mike Fox.
