Listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
Hello, Welcome in Side hour two The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon, live from the Tirack
dot Com studios. Tirac dot com. I'll help you get
there an unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
and over ten thousand recommended installers. Tirack dot Com is
the way tire bad. Should be five and a half

(00:52):
to go in the second quarter, and uh yeah, maybe
the Nuggets can get back on the plane. Lakers lead
it right now sixty nine to forty three. This could
be an eighty point first half plus by the Lakers. Again.
The Nuggets playing without Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, that's
their problem. But Luka Doncic right now midway point of

(01:14):
the first half, twenty three points eight out of twelve
from the field, more importantly, three out of five from
three point range. It has been all Lakers over the
Nuggets so far. Well, what is Mike Malone gonna have
to say about it? Michael, Michael Malone, Michael Malone, not Mike.
I call him Mike Malone, Mike right now?

Speaker 3 (01:33):
The live action to forty two and a half. H
But it's Lakers minus twenty one.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Ooh, I would I think I take I take the
Lakers on that one. I take Lakers minus twenty one
on this minus twenty one. Lucas gonna go hea, He's
gonna stay out there till he gets fifty. Now, I'm
okay with that. I'm clearly all right with that. So
jud just what kind of a night has it been
for Lucas so far? It's been this kind of night.
Dotta's feeling its I'll tell you Luca. In seven minutes,

(02:06):
he's got twenty Billy mac Stu Lance Lakers TV Network
on the call. That was a three from nearly the
mid court logo. Uh, just a little bit in front
of it. I didn't want any want to overcent uh
and a part of a huge first half of look
just really quick about this before you get into a
really fun story out of the NFL. This is why

(02:28):
one of the visions that I had when the Lakers
traded for Luca, and I've told you, look, this is
gonna work. It's gonna be just like when the Lakers
got Paalgasol. They're gonna just take off. One of the
things that we talked about is happening tonight. And this
is Hey understand that when Lebron doesn't play, Luca is
good enough and young enough to carry them by himself.

(02:50):
That was always the thing. Look when Lebron missed games
and it was ad and suddenly okay, well now Austin
Reeves is gonna play more. Maybe we just got to
distribute the ball right, you were miss seeing you are
missing Lebron. And this is why Luca's talent fits right
into what the Lakers want, because clearly they've not been
missing him much over the last two nights. Yes, when
you play six games in eight nights, you're gonna lose

(03:12):
a couple of games, and we're losing the NETS is
really embarrassing, and I get that, but this is kind
of the vision of, Oh, when the Lakers don't have Lebron,
they'll be fine. Would it be a different story if
the Nuggets were playing with Jamal Murray and or Nicola yoaket, Sure,
But this is what the game is and clearly missing Lebron,
Luca's got no problem taking over like this and being

(03:34):
facilitator and being the main score. This is one of
the big fallouts, one of the big piece of fallow
from the tree. We haven't talked about that much, and
that is that Lebron can have time off and it's
not doom and gloom Bron. Yeah, we don't need Lebron anymore.
We got Luca, Luca, Luca. Look, no, this is where

(03:55):
this is where you understand that, Okay, even when Lebron's
off the court, we don't have to hold our breath
and say, oh, this might not work. I mean that
this is this is a byproduct of this trade that
we're just starting to see right now.

Speaker 3 (04:04):
Yeah, the offense doesn't stop right and and that was
one of the concerns. Look on the defensive end, but
we've seen the efficiency because the offense has been so
explosive that the chasing bad shots selection uh and look
to a man adding up because they'd heard all the
noise about defensive efforts, but the offense, even when Lebron

(04:27):
is out for stretches, when he just takes a few
minutes versus being out with this injury, that the offense
still motors along. And we've seen it where for the
first couple of games that Luca played, there were there
were possessions where he was confused because he was not
used to being the guy without the ball in his hands. Right,

(04:47):
what do I do off the ball? It's a new
world for me. Well, Lebron not being on the court, now,
that's not never an option. The ball flows through and
we'll watch some possessions tonight that have just been ridiculous
as a shot maker. But also a couple of the passes.
Now did his teammates finish? No, But still the opportunities

(05:10):
are there, Uh, and they're plentiful. And you see how
much the space opens up. And when the two of
them are out there, Man, that's just a gift for Reeves,
for connect uh and the like. So all have more
in this game coming up again, a big Lakers lead
sixty nine to forty seven. Russell Westbrook watching going, Man,
I used to be here, but hey, he's at a resurgence,
you leave Russell Westbrook, he has haven't been. Yes, he

(05:32):
has has been a bit of a resurgence. Yes, he
has a bit of a resurgence. This is because the
other guys aren't playing, but he hasn't been.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
No, No, he dare you. Okay, I'm saying right.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
No, No, it's all saying tonight. I'm just saying, oh,
the yes, no, the left.

Speaker 1 (05:47):
Is part of his career. He's aloved figure.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
Yes, you saw the video of that guy that flew
all those styles Ale and he went and he gave
him a jersey.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
He has been terrific. Guys have been hurt all year
and they're just getting healthy now. No, I could I
get you, Russell? I get it. I guess hey, I
understand you get off where you fit.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
And he had an opportunity to play and display his wares.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
Today was a great day for NFL fans. Why because
Netflix announced season two of Quarterback and it is an
InCred I don't know that I could have hand picked
a better cast for season two. Right. Season one two
years ago was phenomenal. Couldn't find people to do it
last year? Maybe a little embarrassed boy the Mariota thing

(06:31):
was a little embarrassing. The Kirk Cousins thing, he seems
a little weird. Mahomes is a star, so everything is
fine there. They couldn't do Quarterback, which which stunk because
it was a really good show. You got to learn
about these guys like watching watching entertaining documentaries about players,
and you're getting the nuggets or the TikTok version of
these guys. Right, it's not enough to say, hey, we're

(06:53):
going in depth. Here's thirty hours on the life of
Kirk Cusins. No, no, no, you give me the TikTok version.
You can give me the Hey, here's a few minutes
her Cousins here, just gonnae a sense of what he's like.
And the show was great the stairs exactly. Then the
show was great, and the show is great. And now
this year's cast announced and it couldn't be better. Joe Burrow,
Jared Goff and once again Kirk Cousins. All right, now

(07:16):
let's go in order here. Why is Burrow the best choice?
Joe Burrow kind of has that new school Joe Montana feel,
except he doesn't have the Super Bowls this early in
his career. Now, he did get to the NFL a
little bit late, a little bit older. When he got
to the NFL's he didn't didn't get there when he
was twenty one years old. But he has that sense
of aura and mystique about him that Montana kind of had.

(07:40):
We know Joe Burrow, we don't know a lot about him, right,
We see him talk, he's very visible, but we don't
know what makes him tick. We got that bit that
he bought a batmobile. I mean, oh my god, dude,
you bought a batmobile?

Speaker 4 (07:51):
You for this summer.

Speaker 3 (07:54):
I don't think they're doing that Tolix quarterback unless he
has the Batman. They just give him the one off
the lot. If that's if the ten that they're making
aren't available.

Speaker 1 (08:03):
Hey, Michael Keaton yet, Look this is Joe from Netflix. Yeah, listen,
we need to borrow the batmobile that you've had since
nineteen eighty nine, right, We got to get that.

Speaker 3 (08:09):
To Joe Burrow, the one off the WB lot from
pick one, which what's movie you wanted for?

Speaker 1 (08:14):
He just has this aura and this mistique that makes
you want to see more about him and know more
about what makes him tick. Because again, he's not shy,
he's not he's not a yetti, he's not the way
we don't know anything about him. He's a little picture
of a guy in the woods and maybe it's him,
maybe it's not, but Burrow has that or about him that, Yeah,
I really want to see more, and I want to
see more of what life with the Bengals is like,

(08:36):
because you know, hey, life with the Bengals can't be sunshine,
lollipops and rainbows. So yeah, I really want to see
Joe Burrow is a great first choice, and I'm glad
he said yes.

Speaker 3 (08:45):
Well, he go back to the cigar thing at LSU,
the monster season that he's had. He's no shrinking violet right.
Obviously came out very publicly saying pay my guys do
what they're doing over there, pointing at the Eagles they
and what the Rams were doing? Right, these guys seem
keep finding money to keep their players or what do
they do? They re signed his two wide receivers.

Speaker 5 (09:05):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
And now we talked about it yesterday. Jamar Chase said
he didn't like the food. Maybe that becomes a subplot. Yeah,
I mean in a restaurant, Yeah, all the food is
the practice facility, weight room, all this stuff yeah, yeah,
you know, like magicians. They're tapping on it in brand
new facility.

Speaker 1 (09:22):
Well, there's an entire one episode where t Higgins just
shakes Joe Burrow's hand for getting him paid for a
full forty five minutes. It's not a bad move. Let's
check back in on Joe Burrow. If they just keep
shaking it like me shaking Curtis Martin's had the Super
Bowl a few years ago. These just shake, thank you,
thank you, thank you, thank you, Joe, thank you Joe.
And then you can surprise he didn't punch you in
the face. And then no, because I was thanking Curtis

(09:42):
Martin for an entire career.

Speaker 4 (09:44):
I think he thought you were going to try to
take his jaunty hand.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
No, no, no no. So Burrow gets in and Jared Goff.
Because the Lions have become a show, to become one
of the more popular teams in the NFL. They're exciting.
Everything about the Lions is fun. He and his wife
make a lot of headlines together. I mean, Christian Harp,
Kristin Harper gonna be in it. Yeah, okay, I want

(10:07):
to see some more Kristin Harper. Okay, we'll see it.
And it's just the the the romanticism about the Lions
right now. They're so popular, you can't get enough about
Everybody loves Dan Campbell. They love what's going on with
the team. And Jared Goff and his story of Hey,
I got to the super Bowl kick to the curb
now I found it in Detroit, Like that's a big thing.
We're gonna learn a lot about him and and that

(10:30):
this is a really good second guy to have because
the interest level in his team is at an all
time Hime.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
What's curious is he's still the guy that you'd have
a certain percentage of Lions fans and pundits that would
run him on a town on a rail.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Sure, so you've got that part of it.

Speaker 3 (10:45):
You got a lot of change, obviously, the coaching staff
all all changing, but that core. Can we suggest one
of the outings is a muskrat dinner.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
Oh you gotta go down river? Yeah, you gotta go
down river? Yeah? Sure, And if he wants to do that,
I will. I will him a tour of Downriver of
the Greater windad Taylor E Course, Lincoln park ERAa, or
you guys go to White Castle together. Oh, we go
to every white Castle and don Well, I'd love to
do that. Man, go to every hit at white white
Castle tour. We gos go white Castle, you and golf,
just the three of us. His wife's got and they

(11:15):
sit in the back seat and I'm driving. Hey, this
is where right here? Oh, he used to love going
to this meyer. Right here. I used to go to
this Meyer and buy presents for everybody late at night.
I let's go. Oh, here's Tim Hortons. Wait, let's stop
me at a donut. Let's stop at a donut.

Speaker 3 (11:25):
And at some point somebody says, who the hell is
this guy? Hey, Hey, he's a radio host and he
vacations in Detroit. H's my Detroit tour guide.

Speaker 1 (11:35):
You're now the driver. So you have two interesting quarterbacks.
And now you have maybe the most interesting part, which
is Kirk Cousins revisited when we first met him. He's
a guy that loves Patagonia and Target and and Coohle's
and pays for stuff with coal Bucks and has the
room the Harry Potter coming under the stairs where I

(11:56):
keep all my my sports stuff. Right, Okay, that was great.
Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins, Now it's Kirk Cousins backup quarterback
of the Falcons. How does he navigate it? Does he
get to play this season at all? How is this
going to go? It's going to be a different Kirk Cousins.
Is he doing it to show people, Hey, I still
want to play football and I'm still I'm still safe

(12:18):
enough to trade for. I'll be healthy, I can, I
can manage myself. I'm not going to be a bad
guy if I'm not starting, but I'm still a starting
caliber quarterback in the NFL. He's doing it for much
different reasons this time. The first time he did it, Hey,
Kirk Cousins wanted people to know about him, Right, this
is kind of who I'm a regular guy, right again,
all the colsbucks that I use. But now it's different

(12:38):
for him that, Okay, I'm a different port in my career,
and I want to show people that this is what
I'm really like. I want to keep my brand going
and I want to try to jump start it. Maybe
this is how it is. The backup quarterback of the
Falcons should be a part of every Netflix. That's how
it works. If you're a starter slash backup for the Falcons,
you are part of Netflix. So it's like spinal tap

(12:59):
drummers just keep cycling through them. Nice you like that, huh.
Just the new spinal tap is out of the way.
Joe Mama Besser who spontaneously exploded.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
One of the things I think we need in episode
one with Kirk Cousins is he's got to be strapped
to a lie detector test and we finally get some
answers about whether he was or wasn't injured and all
this nonsense. He tried to spew over Super Bowl week
and then refused to talk to any of the Atlanta reporters, saying, Hey,
I'm not I'm not doing media.

Speaker 4 (13:27):
I'm just here, you know, hanging out.

Speaker 1 (13:29):
Kirk load detector. Did you really suck that met then
the last year? No? Yes, yes I did. Yes, Yes,
he's telling the truth finally, Okay, move on.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
I think he's I think he's gonna play games. I
think this is great. We're gonna have a reinvention. It's
like seeing a turning heel all of a sudden, We're
gonna have you know, Atlanta, Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
It's I'm telling you, this is this is the best
NFL fan news of the last couple of weeks because
everybody's gonna enjoy it. We're gonna talk about it like
we did Netflix Quarterback last time around. It's gonna be different.
We're gonna learn about them. I really, I couldn't have
hand picked three better guys to say, these are the
guys I want to see.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Well, the only other guys I would want to be
part of it are the two guys that don't have
jobs right now, Rogers and Russell Wilson. You know what,
they could be moderately interesting to follow around. I gotta
get all access though they could be.

Speaker 1 (14:21):
But with Wilson and Rogers, I feel like we're getting
the point of mass saturation with them, We're really close
to the point where it's you know what, I really
I don't care and I want to hear about him anymore.
And suddenly here's a TV show with Aaron Rodgers Russell Wilson. Yeah, no,
give me something new. Like we've been into it for
a while. We've been into the Russell Wilson soap opera
for a couple of years. We've been into the Aaron
Rodgers soap opera in a big way for a couple

(14:43):
of years. But just like we do with anything else
in pop culture or stars, Like we get into something
for a couple of years and then the public moves on.
We're like, Okay, we're moving on. And I think we're
at that point where we're ready to move on from
Rogers and.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
I'm talking about really being in with them, because Aaron,
it's all after the fact. No, no, no, We're gonna go
on that iahwasco We're gonna walk the beach today and
with Russell Wilson, we're gonna do high knees at thirty
thousand feet and we're gonna do Nana bubblesh I.

Speaker 1 (15:10):
Think it's it's yeah, I would shake a little bit.
I'd say, yeah. I don't know. By the time the
show comes out, are they still gonna be people we
want to see? I know these three stories, We're still
gonna want to see these guys in a few Yeah.

Speaker 4 (15:22):
But we get to do an updated where are they now?

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Like we're doing The Bachelor or something and it could
have really gone off the rails and now they look
like Ben Stiller at the end of Global Gym.

Speaker 1 (15:32):
You could give me your offseason hard knocks on Rogers
and Russell Wilson do that and just these two guys,
then I'd be okay with that.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
Hanging around that dear life. Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson
begin their new seasons.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Phenomenal news for NFL fans. Phenomena. That show is gonna
be fan Another great season coming up next. Jason Cole
stops by NFL Inside or Extraordinary. Now that Aaron Rodgers
is out of the mix in Minnesota, is he going
to the Vikings? He's going going to the Steelers. Rather,
he's going to the Giant. Will we go to the

So now officially the viting have said no to Aaron Rodgers?
What is next? Now? Joining us on the hot line
a man who I promise you will give us a
very good take on these topics and more. He has
a long time NFL insider, He has a pro football haul,

(18:16):
a very good voter. Check him out on a thirty
third team on Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two. It
is the aforementioned Jason Cale. What's happening? Man?

Speaker 5 (18:29):
Do you think Woody Johnson has realized that Justin Fields
is his quarterback?

Speaker 6 (18:34):
Yet? Do we think that he knows that?

Speaker 1 (18:38):
Do you what?

Speaker 5 (18:39):
Maybe? And then maybe after realizing that, after that realization,
they'll say Rogers, bring back Rogers, Like that would be
the thing that Like it'd be like when Darrell Reeves
left and went to Tampa and then you know, a
couple of years later he said, oh no, we got
we got to bring him back and pay him even more,
like he's just going to fast forward and just get
through all the sort of foreplay to this and just

(19:01):
get right back to I need Rogers back. Is that
what's going to happen?

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Is he going to say that? Or is that going
to be Brick Johnson who says it?

Speaker 5 (19:10):
Oh, adding to the intrigue. Well, my father like son
and so might as well be Brick.

Speaker 1 (19:18):
Willie.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
But he wouldn't like reave us leave long enough to
walk back into the Jets' locker room with a super
Bowl ring.

Speaker 5 (19:26):
That's true. He needs to go get a super Bowl
ringular with some other team, like go win win with
the Steelers. Hey, how do you like this right there?
That would be classic if he won a Super Bowl
and they brought him back when he was like forty
five years old or something. He can do it for
he can do it. Okay, So what happens now?

Speaker 2 (19:48):
JA call?

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Is it the stan Because here's the thing. If he
supposed if Rogers supposedly has this offer from the Steelers, like,
why wouldn't he have taken that already? I mean seriously, so,
I mean really.

Speaker 5 (19:58):
That interesting because look, he likes the offensive situation. I mean,
if you, if you had a chance to have Kevin
O'Connell and for to Justin Jefferson be in the same
division with the Packers and get your for Brett far Vaughan,
which is really weird given their relationship early on. But

(20:19):
I mean, I understood that the attraction went to go
the Vikings, but I understood the Vikings, like you can't
invest in a quarterback one year and say, yeah, let's
just keep putting the software company. Eventually your owner sits
there and goes, what are we doing here? Why why
do we draft this guy with a first round pick coming?

(20:39):
There's logic to this eventually, So.

Speaker 1 (20:43):
Eventually eventually, because just eventually talking about him is ridiculously stupid.
But okay, no, it's.

Speaker 5 (20:53):
Not ridiculously stupid to consider all your options. It's ridiculously
stupid to keep, you know, keep it going as long
as they did. Like you just have to say, no,
we drafted this guy. We're moving on. Like we committed
to this guy a year ago. We understand he got
hurt and we had to go to Donald because we
had Donald as a backup. That was just you know,

(21:14):
a plan that went well. This is putting off the
plan that you put in the first place, and that's
just the.

Speaker 3 (21:22):
Gotcha all right, So as the Domino's fault, I mean,
what does Pittsburgh do at this point?

Speaker 4 (21:28):
Is it Mason Rudolph or Bust?

Speaker 5 (21:33):
Is is there an option there? Or is it just
those those go together? You know, Mason Rudolph Bust, Like,
that's just what it is.

Speaker 3 (21:43):
Well, but see the placeholder and they draft a guy
at twenty one or make a trade or.

Speaker 5 (21:50):
No, they going to get Rogers. I mean, this is
the next best place for him to play, and it's
the next best place for him to want to go.
He's got a couple of receipt verse. Yeah, they're you know,
they're both kind of a pain in the rear, but
they're talented and it's not perfect offensive place and its Pittsburgh.

(22:11):
But look, you made most of your life work in
Green Bay.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
You know.

Speaker 5 (22:16):
Pittsburgh's just you know, Green Bay with three rivers. That's
basically what it is. So just go make our work
there for another year or two and try and win
a Super Bowl. Like, focus on football for a little while.
Pittsburgh is a great place. If you focus on football
and you're good at football, they will love you. You will
be a hero forever. They will pave the streets in

(22:37):
Gold for you, no pun intended, So just just stop
overthinking this. But asking Aaron Rodgers to not overthink something
is like asking a rattlesnake not to bite. Like it's
just it just you can't help themselves.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Because I look at it like this, Jacole, if you're
the Steelers, like really, what the hell are you doing
at quarterback?

Speaker 5 (23:06):
Right?

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Like we saw the story today that hey, they didn't
offer Darnold nearly as much money as the Seahawks did.
Like like, like Tomlin understands, you need a really good
quarterback to win, right, you can't just keep shopping.

Speaker 5 (23:18):
In the bar, which is why, which is why he didn't.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
I mean, but I feel like the NFL was passing
him by, Like, Okay, we're gonna try to make it
work with a couple of quarterbacks nobody wanted. Okay, that
didn't work last year. Now we're going to go for
a guy the Jets didn't want, and we think that's
gonna work. Like I get that Tomlin is a my
way or the highway.

Speaker 5 (23:37):
Got nothing that the Jets do. Do I take as
a sign of what I should do.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Whatever Jets do, do the opposite. Okay, sure, right.

Speaker 5 (23:51):
They are. The Jets are Thetanza of the NFL.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
So when it was the Jets should trade for Rogers,
it was nobody trade for him. Now the Jets release Rogers,
everybody go get Rogers.

Speaker 5 (24:04):
Absolutely, everybody should line up and say, I need to
have this guy. If the Jets don't want him, you
want to. I mean, it was the same thing with Revs.
They traded away Revas, you know, when he was in
the middle of his career. Granted he was hurt, but
they traded away Revs because we're so tired of having

(24:26):
to pay him. He's a star. You need to pay him.
That's how this works. So look, you know, if you're
Pittsburgh and you have a you have a defense that
is as good as the one that they have. And
I'm not saying it's the best defensive leaf, but it's
very good. Okay to borrow a phrase from a certain host,

(24:51):
it's a very good defense they have. They just bought
another big time weapon on the outside. They've got an
offensive coordinat who runs a solid offense. I wouldn't call
it great, like it's a solid offense, especially if you
can get a running back and he run some play action,
and this is going to be the best quarterback he's

(25:11):
ever had, So give him the best quarterback. And again, Aaron,
stop overthinking this. You know, you think you want to
go to the Giants and you know, like show up
with Hey Johnson, Like that's a bad plan. Like how
stupid can you be? Like I'm going to go sign
on with an organization that you know got dead weight

(25:33):
at the general manager. I mean the team that, oh,
let's get let Saquon Barkley go. Like that's really smart,
and the one the team that is probably going to
draft a quarterback anyway if you want to step into
that mess. So just go to a team that's ready
to win and sign on now and commit to him. Now,
I've heard some good things about how Rogers West through

(25:54):
his teammates.

Speaker 6 (25:55):
With the Jets.

Speaker 2 (25:56):
Cool.

Speaker 5 (25:57):
Great, that's better than I expected to be. So now
make it work in Pittsburgh for a year or two.
As long as as long as you think you can play,
as long as the team thinks you can play.

Speaker 6 (26:08):
Go do it there.

Speaker 5 (26:09):
That's your best shot. And I know the AFC is
a Hornets nests when it comes to quarterbacks. You're Aaron Rodgers.
You ain't scared of anybody.

Speaker 1 (26:18):
There it is.

Speaker 3 (26:18):
Put it on a T shirt. It's Jason Gole with
us at Jason Goal sixty two, where you find him
the author of eight books, including l Way A Relentless Life.
He calls himself exceedingly blunt. It's the Jason Smith Show
with me and Mike Rman here from the tyrack dot
Com Fox Sports Radio Studios. All right, let's talk about
one of those other quarterbacks in the AFC. He's got
his two weapons back in Chase and Higgins. They paid bank.

(26:41):
Are they going to have to outscore everybody thirty seven?
Thirty four to win games this year?

Speaker 5 (26:48):
Thirty seven?

Speaker 6 (26:48):
Little low?

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Okay, letle low. I think they're gonna have to average
forty two and a half.

Speaker 1 (26:57):
Okay and a half and a half and a.

Speaker 5 (26:59):
Half because they're going not gonna be just the Cincinnati Bengals.
They're going to do Cincinnati Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
So there you go, Oh good, yeah, So yeah, they're
gonna have to average Oh my god, it's going to
be so many points.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
It's gonna be so little thing about it.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
You got those three guys and they still want to
bring Hendrickson back.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
So you're gonna have Chase Brown is pretty good.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
Yeah, yeah, well no, he's he's fighting good.

Speaker 1 (27:26):
But I'm just talking about on the other side of
the ball.

Speaker 3 (27:28):
You're gonna have to pay in him thirty five million.
That's the going rate for a top end guys.

Speaker 5 (27:33):
Well, I mean, you're going to have over one hundred
and twenty million, one hundred closer one hundred and forty
million dollars locked up in forty guys I don't know,
and four guys you know, but they're still a hundred.
The good thing is there's another one hundred and forty
million dollars to play with, so you can get some
fill ins on there. They just made it a little
bit rougher on it. You're not gonna get You're not

(27:55):
getting a lot of mid level guys with with that
kind of app situation. Like the defense was atrocious. Hendrickson
was the only thing that they had. Maybe you know,
the defensive tackles pretty good, but yeah, like that's it, right,
Like they just need an influx of talent and so

(28:18):
this year, like it's one of those drefts where just
every pick should be defense. You know, every single guy,
like if they have ten picks, ten guys on defense,
if they have seven picks, seven guys on defense, and
you know till the offensive coordinator, dude, make it work.
I don't want to hear anything like that's we gave you,
We gave you Higgins, we gave Tomorrow, you got Burrow.

(28:41):
You're good. Don't don't bother me again. So I don't
know what else to tell you about this, But they've
got to find bodies on defense. They'll be fine, do.

Speaker 1 (28:53):
You know games, Reggie Williams, they'll be fine on defense,
They'll be great.

Speaker 5 (28:57):
Don't worry about it. Nineteen eighty five, I almost lost
his legs of classic So, wow, you Reggie, I mean,
you do Reggie Williams like that. That's just so bad.

Speaker 1 (29:12):
I could have said David Fulcher, but I said Reggie Willie.
I could have said David.

Speaker 5 (29:15):
Full rock, baby, full rock. That's right, bring back full rock. Oh.
I think it's us so wise that I'm feeling about.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
Wow, all right, just took a bad turn, all right, all.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
D Yeah, I took a real say that's a really
bad term. But hey, I love full rock man full rock.
In college, he was god, he was so righted out.
It was unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
Allegedly allegedly, allegedly, allegibly, allegedly allegedly got he was like
a four to four.

Speaker 5 (29:46):
At two hundred and thirty pounds against guys as a
packed pad. It was just a joke, Yeah.

Speaker 6 (29:52):
Like a joke.

Speaker 1 (29:54):
He's on Twitter at Jason Coles sixty two now is
he's gonna hang up with us and go down the
rabbit hole looking at best Bengals to defensive players. Ever,
I didn't bring up.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
I did not bring up.

Speaker 1 (30:04):
All right, that's okay, that's okay.

Speaker 5 (30:06):
That's okay. Never mind, all right, all.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Right, don't forget. I look up Tim Crumbright too. Don't forget.
We got that as well. It is Jay Cole taking easybody.
We'll talk to you there. He goes that went sideways fast.
I did because he got really kind of despondent and
talked about it. He's like he was hitting something in
his core memory. I'm just naming great Bengals defensive players
I remember from my life. I'm just naming great players.

(30:33):
That's what it is.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
That's what we do.

Speaker 1 (30:34):

of the NCAA tournament has wrapped up and Xavier came

the first quarter. He has calmed down, He's cooled down
a little bit. He's got thirty points. The Lakers still

trying to make a run, but the Lakers holding on
to their lead and they are halfway through the third quarter.

(32:08):
Late in the third quarter, the Suns are on top
of the Bulls ninety one to seventy five, while the

Speaker 8 (34:28):
So.

Speaker 1 (34:29):
A big story out of the NFL today is that
they're gonna have some stuff to vote on at the
oders meetings coming up soon. Oh awesome. The Lions are
the latest team to propose change to the NFL, and
we got a bunch of changes that they're going to
be considering, but we'll start with us. The Lions have
proposed a significant change to the NFL playoff seating that

(34:52):
would use regular season records as the guiding principle rather
than division championship. So basically, the division winners all get in, obviously,
but you are seated according to your record. This was
proposed a couple of years ago. The Dolphins, I think
were the ones who proposed this in twenty twenty three.

(35:15):
So anybody can can do this. I mean anybody can
propose this, but here are the Lions, and likely they're
doing it because well, if we seeded them differently, probably
wouldn't have played Washington in that game. We might have
had somebody worse, and they want to play Washington. They
were too hot. Man, they won twelve games. But it
makes sense. It makes sense that with so much spent

(35:36):
on winning games and getting there, it makes sense that
the teams with the best record should be seated that way. Yes,
division winners still get in, but it makes sense to say, hey,
teams are the best record you go one through seven.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
I'm completely against it. Why because you have divisions for
a reason. Schedules are always gonna there's gonna be an
inequity based on what division you happen to have. The
luck of the draw where you have a year for
the division that you play from the other conference. Right,
So the NFC North this year played the AFC South.

(36:10):
Remember the Bears started with all those games against the
AFC South right off the jump, and while they were
all terrible, and that's just luck of the draw, right,
And then you talk about when you play a team
and the scheduling, which I have major concerns and problems
with that whole algorithm as it goes. Hey, let's play

(36:31):
a couple of division games. Two of the final three weeks.
We'll play this team twice. Wait, we've lost nine guys. Well,
why will we play them in the first fourteen weeks?
It doesn't matter, you're playing them now. So there's all
sorts of pitfalls and problems in there. If we're gonna
do the division thing, we have to stay with it
otherwise abolish it. So we'll get back to that coming
up in a second. However, it is time to celebrate

(36:53):
the final game of the first four in the Midwest Region.
Texas l the entire way until the time where you
need to lead. Xavier comes from behind to win it
eighty six to eighty to move on. Thanks to Marcus
Foster twenty two points, eight rebounds, three for five from

(37:14):
three point range. The Musketeers are rasing a thirteen point deficit,
their biggest comeback win this season end.

Speaker 1 (37:20):
Marcus joins us Now in the hotline to break it down. Marcus, congratulations, man,
how you feeling.

Speaker 6 (37:25):
I'm feeling good. How you feeling about John?

Speaker 1 (37:28):
Not as good as you?

Speaker 6 (37:29):
Man?

Speaker 1 (37:29):
Twenty two? You were down thirteen. I mean, I'm feeling
pretty good, but you must be feeling awesome.

Speaker 8 (37:34):
I'm telling all right, I'm just happy for this Davier squad,
a lot of fans.

Speaker 6 (37:38):
You've got the.

Speaker 5 (37:39):
Experience a big win in the next What was the
turning point for you?

Speaker 1 (37:42):
Guys? Are down thirteen and you were down. You were
down most of the game. There was no real run,
you were down. What was the moment where he said, okay,
we can take this game now.

Speaker 8 (37:52):
Honestly, their halftime, I mean, all the players and the
coaching staff, we have great experience. That's one thing I
could say about this team, and even our life game
which we lost against Marquette. We led by ten points
pretty much the whole game in the game ended up
slipping away from us. So the whole talk was that
another team can do that to us, we can do
it to a different team, and so our mindset was

(38:12):
just keep going, keep pushing, and things will go our way, and.

Speaker 6 (38:15):
Which they did.

Speaker 3 (38:17):
Good balance across five guys in double figures. But you
were on fire eight of nine and four for five
from the arc. Obviously in a huge effort second half.
You guys the score. The bucket just must have looked like,
you know, a giant hoop that you were throwing it through.

Speaker 6 (38:34):
I mean, that was just the credit to my teammates
for getting me open today.

Speaker 8 (38:38):
I mean, I got a lot of clean looks and
I'm very grateful that my teammates had trust to me
to knock down the shots. Anytime they kick it to me,
they expect me to shoot it.

Speaker 6 (38:47):
And that's what I did. And you know, the March Madness.

Speaker 8 (38:50):
Players had to step up because not everyone's gonna have
it every single night. So that's what I did to
help my team with Oh.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
You just said, March madness, you owe somebody money. I
think it's eight dollars. Yeah, every time time you say
that phrase, you owe somebody eight dollars. I think Marcus
He's like, after tonight, I'm good with it.

Speaker 5 (39:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
The celebration that that final countdown there, I mean just
the eruption from the crowd and from the bench. I mean,
take us in and you know what's going through your
head in those final possessions, man, I mean.

Speaker 8 (39:21):
When my man Sway got that big office of rebound
for the putback, I mean, I can't explain you how
happy I was because I knew at that moment the
game is pretty much seeal.

Speaker 6 (39:30):
I mean, this was I've been a.

Speaker 8 (39:31):
Part of some great wins, but this has to be
one of my favorite. If not, if not one, is
definitely two.

Speaker 1 (39:37):
It was one of those no no, no, no, no
no no. Oh great play, great play, great play. That's
exactly how everybody was watching it, going no, no, he
made you men. Uh did you guys know that's the
first time you trailed at halftime in a game since January?

Speaker 8 (39:51):
Oh no, I definitely didn't know. I didn't know that
at all. I mean, I'm just glad we got the
outcome we wanted.

Speaker 6 (39:57):
I couldn't I couldn't be more happier right now.

Speaker 1 (40:00):
All right, Well, lastie, let me ask you this. You
guys get Illinois next. Have you talked about Illinois? Coach
talk about Illinois at all? Are you just all on
this one?

Speaker 8 (40:08):
To be honest, I'm sure the coaching staff has been
on it. I'm sure they've been prepping for us since
they knew that if we won this game with advanced
but honestly, all the players, there's been nothing else trust
the boat was on besides Texas and Tray Johnson. I mean,
they have a tough squad over there, and.

Speaker 6 (40:24):
That was a hard put victory.

Speaker 8 (40:25):
I mean, we needed every fan to pop out today
to help us secure that way because, like I said,
that was a tough text team.

Speaker 1 (40:32):
Twenty two points from Marcus Foster. Xavier wins it eighty
six to eighty to move on. Congratulations, We'll talk to
you after you win the next game.

Speaker 6 (40:39):
Yes, sir, thank you have a good one. All right.

Speaker 1 (40:41):
I guess he's one of our guys noway they win
the next day, he's our guy one hundred percent.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
Tell you what, massive effort tonight.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
For the year average eight points per game, but he
came up huge in a big way in here.

Speaker 2 (40:54):
So we'll lot more.

Speaker 1 (40:55):
NFL will continue on the conversation we started and more
from the big final LIGHTE of the first four in
the NSA Tournament next
