in about forty minutes from now, we'll get the family together,
we'll get maybe have a nice little bonfire, maybe start
our tailgating for Sunday and we'll get we'll uh, we'll

(01:07):
play some games and we'll have some font DAN So
far too fast hours Aaron Rodgers at the podium. I
don't think it's long enough to have the guys cut
up in the back. We'll we'll give him off on
this one. We'll see if we get something more interesting.
But asked, what do you do from here? Aaron? Where
do you go from here? He said? Home? He paused,

(01:28):
He looked around to home. Twenties seven seventeen. You're final.
The Packers fall to four and seven. We look at
the Tennessee Titans, Mike Vybel and company getting it done.
Gola fourth down stand fourth and one, uh, stopping Aaron
Jones causing some havoc defensively and Ryan Tannehill to play

(01:50):
action pass working he goes for three thirty three. You asked,
you were a loser if you had Derrick Henry with
the over of ninety nine and a half rushing yards.
But you know what he gave you forty five receiving yards,
two receptions and a passing touchdown for your fantasy purposes.
They moved to seven and three on the season and
tray Line Birch, welcome back rook hundred eleven yards for him.

(02:13):
You know if they have Ryan Tannehill for that Chiefs game. Uh,
they mean completing a Ford pass? Yeah, they have they
have the best record in the a f C. They
would they would have won that game with Ryan Tannehill.
They'd be eight and two right now, and sitting there
in Kansas City would be six and three. And uh,

(02:33):
that's it's it's true. I mean, hey, if ten and
Allen were healthy, the Charges would be undefeated right now. Sure,
But I know, I know you're kidding. I I just
wanted to get to Frost, but all excited. But the
the the fact of the matter is that's where Tennessee
is right now. And all of the conversations, so much
of the conversation when we talk about that conference is

(02:55):
about Kansas City. It is about Buffalo, and it's been
a at the Miami Dolphins and the New York Jets lately.
We don't we don't talk about the a f C North.
The only time we talked about the a f C
South is when we're talking about the Colts and Jeff Saturday.
Like those are the conversations and and and that's what
even the Chargers are kind of flying under the radar,
if you if you want, Since you brought up keenan Allen,

(03:17):
I think there'd be people that'd be surprised to think
that this team actually has five wins, but that's where
they are. But the Titans again, so under the radar
for where they stand. And I know if and butts,
you know, candy and nuts and the whole shebang, but
that's where they are. If they have a healthy Ryan Tannehill,
they have the best record in the a f C.

(03:38):
And that says a lot. Yeah, you got off that
o two starters we talked about with the Giants and
the Bills losses took the two point conversion Brian Dable
and all the headlines that followed from there. Uh, and
then the Bills we obviously have the respect for them
along the way. But for the Titans, a lot of expectation.
All right, it's gonna be as far as Derrick Henry

(03:59):
King go. A lot of question marks about Ryan Tannehill,
his ability to maintain the job. Right. There were people
after those first two weeks calling from Malik Willis to
be the guy, all right, go learn with him. And
then we watched as that that flowed and well that
wasn't good for anybody when Tannehill was out. And he'll
grow into a player, and you saw some things on

(04:21):
tape that you like, some of the instincts, just the
delivery of the football and the past catching options still waiting,
you know, for that fluidity. I mean that his time,
he didn't have Burkes there, you didn't have the the
go to receivers. So you look at a squad that
coming in to tonight's game, you you had a two

(04:42):
point differential. They've given up two more points than they'd
then they'd scored, but only a hundred sixty eight points
allowed coming into the into the game. And honestly, that
gap is what it is because Buffalo crushed that you know,
by so much in weeks so them back to week two, right,
they put up forty one on them. So yeah, you

(05:04):
look at that. And we talked about the division a
little bit earlier. You mentioned Jeff Saturday. I don't know
what that team becomes, right, they've got the injuries. Shakille
leonard On underwent surgery. Hopefully uh he gets right, because
he's a blast to watch play when he's available, but
he's done for the year after that surgery. And we

(05:24):
go through the division and and there's a lot of
metrics that you can like for certain teams. I know
we got some some feedback from our guy, Mike and Jacksonville. Yes,
I do watch your team. Yes I picked them to
make the wild Card, And no they're not winning games.
They're three and seven. The record is what it is.
We could throw up stats categories and be excited about
things and say they're turning a corner. You can still

(05:45):
gotta go and win games. And right now they're not.
Right there there three and seven there plus eleven on
the year, that's fantastic, But right now they're looking up
at Indianapolis and Tennessee at seven and three has the
commanding lead in division to roll through. And we talked
about schedules before and the opportunity to make some hay.

(06:08):
Whereas for Green Bay, this seemed like a game Dan
and we talked about it a little bit last hour
where everybody kind of threw up their hands, go, oh, well,
that's it. She had a good run those win seasons
or something of the past. The ability to have a
sense of urgency and the angst because Aaron Rodgers didn't

(06:28):
even have that, fighting him like it. Talked about it
a little last hour, right, you have that and the
used the duel of the fates. Steve de Seger brought
the music in from Star Wars the Phantom Menace, where
there's just that intensity that looked from Rogers that all right,
he's gonna do something. He's gonna respond because he's angry
and he's gonna use that to his advantage. And here

(06:50):
it was sack overthrow. Yeah, okay, even the what are
you gonna do? What do you do? Now? Where do
you go from here? And he just says home. Now,
that's a nice, good, snarky, smartass response. But the reality is,
you're a team at four and seven barely I had
of Detroit and green Bay and Minnesota now has a

(07:12):
commanding lead in division to where you're you're looking at
the back end of this season and wondering how you're
playing out the string. Well, yeah, and and quickly, just
before I say what you said about Rogers, the other
part about the Tennessee the whole the whole thing in
the a f C South, as you mentioned. And I
think the guy in Jacksonville got offended because you said

(07:33):
that they've got Jacksonville twice on their schedule. It's the Jets, Dolphins,
and Bills are gonna be playing each other. I know
that the Bills if if uh, you know played the Jets,
and they've they've played uh, they've played the Dolphins, but
there's other matchups to to come up. Same with the
a f C North, and you got the Ravens and
Bengals playing later on in this season. So there there's

(07:55):
the Titans don't have that in the a f C South,
which sets up really really well for them. As for
Rogers and what he's got, he almost feels like he
is out of answers. And I joked that, you know,
he's excited because it's a four day weekend for him.
I think there's probably some legitimacy to that. I'm like,
I just need to get away from this junk for
a little while. We all know it, Like you're everyone

(08:18):
is looking ahead to next week, Mike, because guess what
short work week. Maybe you're done on Tuesday, maybe your
early day on Wednesday, and you're getting out, you're looking
forward to it. I think Aaron Rodgers has been looking
forward to this well, especially with that bye week in
week fourteen, I mean, which just wrong. Like I know
they spread them out quite a bit, but Week fourteen

(08:39):
is just wrong on a hundred levels because your season
is done at the beginning of the year, you thought
maybe it would really benefit Green Bay because you thought
that they'd be in position to make a run in
the postseason. Now it does not. Now that is not
the case. Not You're just like, jeez, at least gives
me a head start on my packing for for moving
on the town and in the in the off season.

(09:00):
But I don't. I think that he's out of answers,
and I think that he's out of answers for what
he can say. And I'm not trying to absolve him
of any blame, Mike, but even if even if Aaron
Rodgers says like I need to play better, I think
there's other things that and he said it before, he

(09:23):
said that a guy's needing to study and guys needed
a Maybe he just doesn't want to pile on anymore. Um.
I could be completely wrong with that, But so when
he's out of answers, I think he's out of answers
of what he actually feels that he can say. I
think that he came to his kind of wits end
of like, I've said what I've needed to say over
the last couple of weeks, and if you guys haven't
gotten the message, maybe Christian Watson has. Maybe that's why

(09:45):
we've seen this you know, touchdown, you know explosion lately
now that he's back healthy, but I think that he's
out of things to say and can only say stuff like, yeah,
I'm headed home because he needs this week and a
half off becomes platitudes. At this point, I can only
give you so many, you know, coach him up kind

(10:06):
of moments. Right we're week eleven, So the sound bites
have been there, and people ripped them if they wanted
to rip him. It's like the guy was being honest
and it got turned back in on him anytime he
tried to talk about the communication, the excellence of execution
and all of those things along the way with the
young guys learning on the fly and getting to their spot.

(10:28):
Because in the end, what's been the reputation of Rogers,
He's gonna put it where you're supposed to be. So
if suddenly that's not happening, what he forgot how to
throw the football? And that goes back to the point
making last hour, if like, there were two teams that
I thought would be fine, right even though he took
his sabbatical and was off and wasn't in off season
training for a chunk. Hey, man, that's more reps Jordan's

(10:50):
love gets in case they have a break glass, in
case of emergency kind of situations, that he gets that
rapport and that when Rogers came back, they'd flow through
and expecting, while not a thirteen win season, still for
them to be competitive and in the chase for a
playoff run. And obviously I'm wrong there. The other one

(11:10):
looks just right because it's next man up in Kansas City, right, hey,
Kedarius Tony. More guys missed workouts this week. Guess who's
getting fired up on a lot of fantasy teams after
his performance last week? Um, you know Romeo Dobbs being
ruled out because of the ankle sprain. That's huge, right,
because he was a guy that was starting to at

(11:30):
least make a little bit of noise. He was up
to fifty targets thirty one catches on the year, and
a guy that seemed to have at least gotten a
bit of a rapport. Put him and Watson on the
field together for an extended period with some decent target
work and Alan Lazar to scrape in across the middle.
Then then maybe we got something. As the season rolls on.
But unfortunately we're at four and seven. Now you have

(11:52):
a little bit of a break and that's not coming
to the fruition. Also, your defense has been disastrous as
we chronicled last hour and your run game. You couldn't
stay get get back on the field right because the
defense was off. So it changes how you have to
play your offense. You know, Rogers has obviously got some
blame to put on it. You mentioned Allan Lazard and

(12:14):
how many times do we talk about Mike about guys
stepping up a level, Like some guys are just meant
to be too Some guys are meant to be threes.
Some guys are made to be ones. And if you're
a two and you're putting that one spot, it's not
the same. And that's where Alan Lazard was put in.
And I know that was hearted had some you know,
nagging health stuff earlier on and leaving the preseason. But

(12:36):
there there there are things that are shocking that that
pop up. And when you look at what he did tonight,
five catches fifty seven yards, very very modest night, but
on eleven targets, so they didn't connect on on more
than fifty of their passes. This is not the first
time it's happened against Detroit. Ten targets, just four receptions.

(13:00):
Loss against the Jets, nine targets, four catches, loss against
the Giants, eight targets, four catches. Like those are the
sort of things that you don't that's not happening with
Damante Adams, you know, like and and maybe that's not
the whole problem. Maybe the elements art isn't. But when
you're number one guy is you can't connect with him

(13:22):
on fifty of the throat at times you throw to him,
that's a problem. It's a big problem. Be sure to

(14:05):
do apply well. The end of this Packers game and
something Aaron Rodgers had to say and in his remarks
we talked about all right, go home ha ha uh
and move on, regroup and and rally. But it did
address the fact that his thumb is bothering him. Dan
long long ago, when I worked at Yahoo, we had

(14:25):
a little bit of fun. Every once in a while,
I can influence the guys that were writing the headlines
and sometimes it didn't matter they the stories themselves. We're
gonna do that for us. So way back in the day,
when the great bowler, Earl Anthony passed away, we put
that up on the home page of Yahoo Sports. The

(14:47):
bosses did not like that because bowling wasn't seen as
why are you putting that up front and center. I'm like,
because that's a tribute to a lot of Saturday afternoon
spent betting with my uncle and my grandma. That explanation
didn't quite work quite so well. But going all the
way back to two thousand two, when we had the
initiation of operations shut down by Derek Bell when he

(15:13):
was with the Pittsburgh pirates. It was basically, I'm done,
I wondered tonight Rogers the thumb injury four and seven,
if we're not maybe a week maybe two weeks away
going into that week four team by where operations shutdown
becomes a thing based on is his demeanor on field

(15:33):
tonight after some of those plays that went asunder, the
lack of urgency in those final possessions to get back
to the line of scrimmage, to get that next play
dialed up, after a run play, after a completed pass,
et cetera, that maybe we're in the throws of what
becomes a all right, I'm done. I'm taking my Vegas

(15:54):
blackjack dealer. I'm clapping because I'm going on break. Look,
I got nothing up my That's okay, because it's like
that got operation down in Well. No, no, I think
it's a heavy sort of thing because I don't think
Ard Rodgers is quitting like you know, and I don't

(16:15):
think that's what you're saying, but it sounds like he's
to his max. And and because I don't want to
sit there and say, because I don't think it's fair
to say that this guy just quit, you know, he
just quit or you know, we're that's that's a heavy
accusation towards someone. But I just always wondered Mike the

(16:38):
whole deal a couple of years ago of when Rogers
was so wishy washy, come get me, am I gonna retire.
I want you know, I want out of Green Bay
Packers trade me, and then you give him fifty million
dollars a year and he's like, yeah, I'll be here
for a little while, you know, I'll mean, I'll stick
around for a couple more years. And to me, that
was very disheartening because I actually could have understood the

(17:02):
reason why maybe he didn't want to play anymore, or
he wanted to play somewhere else and just wanted something different,
Like I I got all that, like it's it's the
I'll just play for the fifty million dollars. That kind
of it rubbed me the wrong way him I turning
down in fifty million a year. No, I'm not doing that.
I would gladly take that. But I wonder in that time,

(17:24):
Mike is is that where he is right now? Is
he just maybe just to the point of like Okay,
I'm done, or like you know, like you know, I
I don't I don't want to go through this anymore.
Maybe even the grind of going and winning a Super
Bowl isn't as appealing as it once was. And that's
why I just think that maybe his tank is is
just completely empty right now. It doesn't mean that he's

(17:46):
not to blame, but yeah, it's just I think that
he's maybe at the point that he was a couple
of years ago. No, and that's just it, right everybody,
And no matter what your job, y'all, this resonates with everybody,
it and for different reasons. You you get up and
go to work. Most of us don't have fifty million
dollars or more laying around the bank account right where.

(18:08):
We don't have national commercials, we don't have Jeopardy hosting stints,
possible movies, uh, whatever else he's got going on in
the offing. Not to mention earnings on investments, although obviously
I don't think he's been associated with any cryptos, so
at least from that party, it seems to be insulated,
at least that we know of. But investing as a whole,

(18:31):
everybody's taking a hit this year, or most have. But
the point just being that you don't have the ability
to walk away. So you have to get up the
next morning and find a reason. Maybe it's looking at
your kids, maybe it's looking at your bank accounts, or
we're house or whatever it is. You find the intestinal
fortitude and you get up and you go. You may
have to grit your teeth. You may not be, you know,

(18:53):
the favorite among your coworkers, may have some issues with
your boss, but you find your way to get back in.
For Aaron Rodgers decided to come back in, whether it
was the fifty million dollars, whether it's unfinished business, based
on the way they exited the season, the last couple
basically the Tom Brady effect of well, if that guy's
gonna keep going, damn it, I I'm not going out

(19:14):
before him. Like all of these like there's there's different
things that motivates you to keep going. Where are you at?
Where you're at statistically on this list that list, the
other legacy missing, Maybe there's something that's still easy E's
yearning too, maybe just like playing football, but certainly the
body language today on the field, Dan didn't look like

(19:34):
a guy that was having fun. In week eleven, he
looked like a guy that was recognizing that this season
at this point, as great as that win might have
felt on Sunday because when he was on the post
game interview smiling from ear to ear, but now you
look at it in hindsight, where it might resonate to yeah,
I know this is short lived, but damn it, I'm

(19:54):
gonna enjoy this moment there. I think there are two
different things that that are played here, because there's I've
seen screen grabs go across to Twitter as well. If
Roger sitting on the bench, I'll bumbled up looking miserable.
But I think what struck what struck you, What struck
the show's executive producer, Justin Frostburg, was that Rogers didn't
look miserable, shaking hands. We're checking on players that were

(20:19):
hurt in game and other things like chatting it up. Yeah. Yeah,
and that's that's the point of which, by the way,
no problemly getting the days of you know, hating the opponent,
the Cowboys and Eagles that stuff, So not not suggesting
that at all. Right, yeah, those things are you know,
those days are over. But I think there's a difference

(20:40):
in being like I'm done with this specific drama with
Green Bay, like my tank is empty. I need something
refilled or undone period. And that's and those are I
think that those are two different things. Like maybe he's
just fed up with the start you know that is
this year. But it also could be the possibility that

(21:02):
he's just fed up period, which is where he was,
you know, two years ago whatever it was. Um when
he's telling teams to come and you know, get him
in the off season and and doing that sort of stuff.
And I think that you know, the fifty you know,
million dollar a year to be the highest paid quarterback,
maybe that does change things, but you go right back

(21:24):
to that place pretty quickly when things aren't going well
or if you just didn't maybe get that that high
of winning as you once did. And that's that's where
I think he is right now. Not coming is easy. Yeah,
And tonight you watched your defense get bullied and then
a couple of players that look like they designed well.

(21:45):
He missed a couple of throws right, we pointed out,
and they got a first down on the possession and
the drive extended. But he had a throw to Lazard
across the middle. If he hits him in stride, he
might have been fighting for pat Yeah. Do you do
you think he he wants to to prove everyone wrong.
Of course. I mean he took a lot of incoming

(22:06):
for a couple of years. I mean the COVID stance.
You know, there's folks that were ardent supporters and and
on board his his training. Like for me, it's always
just been about I need playoff success, right, so great
regular season? I know a lot of it is luck,
health and a million other things. Still never understand why
he seated the field uh and gave the ball back

(22:29):
to Tom Brady. Uh. Still down five, But that's a
whole other discussion for another time. But unfinished business. But
a lot of folks that cut his knees out from
under him, and then the love of football being questioned
when you've got a guy who's been spinning it so
well since he took over in two thousand eight. I
think he knows the answer that he's not going to
be able to prove people wrong. He knows they don't

(22:52):
have the team, and he knows that he may know
that himself may not be there. But the only way
that he could prove someone wrong, or prove the haters
wrong or their doubters wrong, was to go and win
another Super Bowl and he's not gonna catch Tom Brady
you know in Super Bowl titles. But you know a
lot of people who say, well, Rogers only has one man,

(23:12):
and if you were to go and do it again,
I think that would shut up a lot of people.
And he realizes now that he's not gonna be able
to shut up a lot of people because of he
may think it's everyone else's fault, but he plays a
part in it. And I think I think that reality
is kind of set in. So now, if you can't
shut up all the people, what are you trying to do?
What is your motivation? And that's where I think Rogers sitting.

(23:34):
And that's why these next you know, this four day
weekend wherever he's gonna go and get away from you know,
two and and and try to regroup for week twelve. Um,
you know, going to be important days that he can
do some more during the bye week in a couple
of weeks, no question about it, Dan Buyer And for
Jason Smith and Jason Smith Show with Me, Mike Carmen
coming in from the tireraq dot com studios. Hey, let's

(23:55):
talk and hear about from Aaron Rodgers about motivation and
where he's at coming out of this loss to the Titans,
given the ways Sunday when you're surprised by this tonight, Well,
I thought Ryan played really well for them. They stopped
to run clubbed us in the back end. We knew
this crew don't throw a lot of flags, so you know,

(24:18):
combine that with you know, me missing some throws and
us not capitalizing on a couple of opportunities like Keyshon's
return there getting points there obviously heard us, but we
just never could kind of get over that hump and
get the ball back with a chance to take the lead.
Did you have concerns coming around about being able to
run the ball on these guys and what was the

(24:40):
alternative if that wasn't going for you? Well, we felt
after last week felt good about running ball and anybody.
But they've been averaging like sixty six yards per game
to last I don't know, seven or eight, so it
was gonna be tough. They're stout in the middle, good linebackers.
I knew we have to throw what we had obviously
a lot more of third and long situations today and
just didn't convert enough of them home. Okay, Well, as

(25:05):
as a team after again I'm not want to talk
about a lot and you want a lot of games, SERI,
this is a pretty big spot for you. Yeah, season
not over. There's still six opportunities left. Um, you know,
we got a tough game, kind of go to Philly.
Hopefully we can these few days get a little healthy
or refresh the mind, and then obviously we gotta gotta

(25:29):
win these next games, can't. You don't see when we
would you say the reasons would be that you can.
Why can't? Well, I think last week showed us a
lot the possibilities. This week we just didn't play. It's
a complimentary on all all three phases. I mean, you've
got to be excited about the way Christians played last
two weeks. So uh gott be coming back today. I

(25:52):
think let us some receiving yards. That was a big
joke for us, as you guys know, and I've talked
about we need to run the football effectively to win,
and didn't do that today. So I have to find
a way schematically or otherwise to run effectively. And when
we got opportunities and one on ones, we went one
on ones. I gotta throw the ball better than I
did tonight. There's not a lot of margin for air

(26:14):
for us and definitely not when a team is stout,
but it gives you some opportunities. Um, you got hit
on those places. There's Aaron Rodgers post game seventeen, your
final the Tennessee Titans take him down at Lambeau and
the Lambeau Faithful actually boot Aaron Rodgers as well, asked

(26:34):
about it and get it. Gave a long pause and
went interesting. Yeah, I think he's probably thinking of all
the years. It's funny too because of all the success
in that they have had. Um, there are there, there
can be some there can be some anger, but Green
Bay isn't like Philly or Chicago or d C or

(26:56):
Boston or New York. Obviously when it is to uh,
being frustrated with losing because they haven't done it that much, Mike. Um,
but when you hear that, that is very very telling.
I think that also is you know, I think that's years,
these last couple of years of maybe frustrations and building

(27:18):
up not for the team losing, but of just of
dealing with, you know, maybe some of the drama that
