and a best of version posted right after we get
off the air. So tonight again, Julius Randall, I'm sorry
I cursed you at my fault. I got people writing
me on Twitter saying I did not have on my
bingo card. Let me make sure I get it right.
Practicing voodoo on Julius Randall isn't something I had on
(01:11):
my Bengo card for this series. But it was inadvertent,
Like is it? He's strunk way before them, crying, laughing
in mode. I didn't. I didn't do it to curse Julius, right,
I wanted to give him credit. I paid about it. Man. No, no, no, dude,
I was right, especially after yesterday. I'm happy to have
Karl Anthony Towns, the fourth quarter version of Carlins and
then you throw him to the gutter. But you were,
(01:33):
well you trade We're back after game two? Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
well look I was. I was. You know, you're in
a bad so I could I had place? Could I
still be ready to trade Cat and like Anoobe for Jannis? No? Sure, yeah,
I'm still there. Wow, sure me.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
Now you're that kid saying all right, I have this
card that I brought with me. How do I trade
up to one hundred dollars card? And you go and
sell sell, So.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I'm absolutely fine with that, I trust me. If if it
doesn't this again typical typical Knicks fan in the middle
of the Eastern conference files. We gotta trade some guys,
getting ready for next fire the coach. Trade this guys.
It's two to one in the Eastern Conference file. I know,
we gotta get rid of guys. You gotta move with
guys who are carving heart sended that said plus n
(02:18):
y K, Yeah, yeah, but we just watched the Thunder
go up three games to one over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
They lead this now uh in the driver's seat And
again we talked about this the other night. I said,
if I put the losses for the Thunder for the
rest of the postseason at two and a half, I
take the under. Only need five more sixteen on the postseason.
(02:42):
That's why I mean, and I put it, and they've
lost one, right, they lost Game three, But are they
really gonna lose two more games? They're gonna win Game five.
They're gonna beat the crap out of the t Wolves
in Game five to win this series. And is someone
gonna beat them or the Knicks or Pacers gonna beat them? Twice?
In the NBA saying that Anthony Edwards is not gonna
show up for Game five either. He didn't even she
barely showed up for the postgame press conference. With the
(03:04):
lack of accountability that he had for this game tonight.
So we talked about and Edwards last hour and again
I prestate and a half why did I pick the thunder?
Why did I say they're gonna Because I know Sga
is going to show up to every game and give
you an MVP superstar like performance. And that's what he's
done so far this series. When his team needs him,
he finds a way, even if it's not his night.
(03:25):
He finds away, gets the free throw line, a near
triple double tonight with forty points, and Edwards disappears. He
disappears a couple of times. I told you this before
the series began. He disappears a couple of times a
series where you say we needed more out of you, right,
Chris Finch Again, I keep going back to him, keep
hearing in my head. After the Game one against the Nuggets,
when they asked about Edward's playing, he said, I don't
(03:47):
know what to tell you. We need him to come
in and set the tone and lead, right. He needs
to have that kind of game. And when he was
told about Chris Finch's comments, Edwards said, no, I don
feel like I played bad. You know, offensively wasn't there,
But I played good defensive Like, whoa dude, you're the leader.
You need to take some responsibility, whether it's your fault
or not. You're the best player on the team, you're
the superstar. It's always I after a loss. Right, it's
(04:09):
I after a loss and we after a win. When
you don't win, this is how it goes. Right, You
get all the credit when you win. You got to
you gotta understand that when it comes, you gotta take.
You gotta take responsibility when when you lose, even if
it's not all your fault, even you don't believe it's
all your fault, you say, I have to be better.
This is what leaders and what big players do. So
after tonight, his second real no show because he didn't
(04:33):
get a lot of shots. Height he had the third
most shots on the team. He had two shots in
the first half. Right, two shots in the first half
and thirteen for the game. Right, this is not how
you win. But it's the second and four games that
he didn't show up for and it's the second time
of those games that they lost. Game one was there
for them, it was they were leading at halftime. No
show in the second half, the Thunderboat race them two
(04:53):
shots in the first half and the thunder run away
from them in the second half, and it's another pedestrian night.
Or Edwards was sixteen six and four. Now, I wouldn't
be so hard on the guy if it wasn't. Hey,
he's the next great player, and he seems very comfortable
being annointed as a next great player in the NBA.
And he's not because great players don't disappear like this
(05:16):
or fail to affect the game as often as Edwards does.
And tonight with thirteen shots, I mean, really, McDaniels had
more shots, Alexander Walker had more shots off the bench, right,
even Chenzo almost had as many shots. To you, you
need to be the guy. It's two to one. You
don't win this game. The series is over man. And
(05:36):
still it was another night where he failed to lead,
and he failed to set the tone. So let's hear
from Ann Edwards in the In his postgame press conference
at his chair in front of his locker, he was
asked about the struggles of he and Julius Randall. Edwards
worth sixteen points, Randal just five points and twenty eight minutes.
And here's what Edwards had to say in response to
that question. A did you guys struggle tonight?
Speaker 2 (05:59):
Definitely not that.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
I guess the points I wanted to get, but I
mean they didn't really let me get too many shots off.
They did a good job of that. Every time I
had the ball. They showed me a future crowd. So
just making the right play getting off of it, and
my guys hit shots tonight. So we shotts to him.
Speaker 5 (06:18):
A bunch of you guys play in front of the
thought it was big guys from you and Randall and
how to kind of hit you for the fact that
you got to pull the struggle.
Speaker 1 (06:26):
At the same time to night.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
I don't look at it like I struggled or he struggled.
They just they had a good game plan making us
get off the ball. Well, especially for me, man, it
was super into gaps. I made the right play all night,
So I don't really look at it like I struggled.
I didn't get enough shots to say I struggled, So
that's why that might be how you guys look at it.
Speaker 1 (06:44):
But yeah, I can't struggle. Oh, it just I made
the right play. Wow, I didn't struggle at all. I
just made the right play. Let me check because I
think he had like eighteen assists. Oh no, he had six. Wow.
You talk about a guy that will just not take
respectibility after a loss like this. Dude, this is basketball
(07:04):
one oh one. But he only had one turnover? Right,
I don't oh wait, six five turnovers. I made the
right play. I don't look at it as me and
Julius struggled. You don't look at the fact that you
scored sixteen and and and and didn't really affect the
game offensively, and Julius Randall had five. You didn't struggle.
(07:25):
They did a good job, not goot. So what you're
saying is you're eminently stoppable. If the other team has
a good game plan, they can stop me. Wow. Man,
that's not That's not what a superstar says. That's not
what happens superstar on the court. That is stunning to me,
But that he won't say. No, I'm not gonna look
at it as we struggled, Like, dude, what what do
you think? What what do you think goes on in
(07:46):
the game? What world do you live in where you
think this is a game that you played well in?
That's that that stuns me.
Speaker 3 (07:52):
I'm all for once the series is done, you then
can tip your cap talk about their all defense ranking
and first team second team, here's some love and some
flowers towards the feet of lou Dort and whatever else
have added. But as the series is going on, you
obviously didn't make all the right plays.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Right.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Your assistant turnover ratio is basically one to one. Now,
maybe part of that I gotta go back and look,
did he he got credit for a turnover at that
last heave? So maybe it's you know whatever, six four.
But the point just being that they were able to
bottle you up, which means you're also not only in
it's an indictment on you and your teammates coordinating on
(08:37):
the court. You're also flipping off Finch at the same time. Well,
they couldn't get me free, right, they couldn't scheme to
get me open and get me some open looks.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
After hearing that, I can officially squash the face of
the league after hearing I mean, really, that's not what
the face of the league says. He is officially out
of the running. He is out of the circle of trust. Greg,
You are out of the circle of trust, like can
you imagine? And I'm not going back to where you
talking about face the leagust you met in Jordan or
Steph or Lebron or Kobe say, I don't feel like
(09:08):
I struggled, you know, No, no, no, Lebron did, because
he said ten guys didn't do anything. Well. Lebron would
also give the rest of his stats. But I can't
imagine none of these guys would have said, yeah, I
look at it as I didn't take enough shots to struggle. Okay,
well you need to take more shots. You're the best
player on the team. That's kind of funny, right, I.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Mean, I don't mean I didn't struggle, I didn't take
enough shots.
Speaker 1 (09:30):
I made the right play.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
I mean that does invoke some of the Lebron lines.
I mean it's the right basketball play. I mean, go
through it's the right basketball play. So I mean he
didn't take a little from that playbook, but basically saying
you were able to be contained and bottled up to
where you couldn't.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Get a shot off. Sorry, it's a fail on a
hundred levels here.
Speaker 3 (09:52):
That is, while you're I mean in the video to
go with it is, he just seems so unaffected by it.
But I don't mean, I don't mean you have to
have your head in your hands. My god, No, No,
he's just kind of smile like, hey, what are you
gonna do?
Speaker 1 (10:06):
Yeah, Like, look his body language. Look, he's sitting at
his locker in front of you know, answering questions. And
he's answering the questions, right, He's not being rude to
the reporters. He's answering the questions. He's looking them all
in the eye when he's talking. This is how, this
is how he does it. But like, but I get that.
So I'm not saying I'm not saying it's it's that,
but the body language of dude, this is the Western
(10:27):
Conference Finals. You may never get here again, and it
seems like, hey, it's no big deal. You're down three
to one. This is not summer League. You know, you're
down three to one, and this is where your team
wants to see you be pissed and say, hey, I gotta,
I gotta, I gotta put us. I'm gonna put us
on our on my back, and we're gonna go out
and make sure that this doesn't happen again in game five.
(10:48):
But instead it's just it's just a matter of fact. Yeah,
well he did a good job on me. Whoa I
read really really, I because I remember Kobe Bryant saying
did a good job. He defensively, I couldn't do anything.
I remember Kobe saying that all the time. Not right,
I'll just gonna say that.
Speaker 3 (11:01):
But that's the thing, right, Like I'm always loath to
compare guys to the all time greats. But that's where
this conversation has gone with Anthony Edwards over the last
eighteen months. So we wrap it in when you mentioned
guys like Jordan and Kobe and go down to Lebron
and whomever else that you want to rope in. Is
he's been included into those conversations based on his twenty
(11:22):
seven points per game. Being a volume shooter, right, he's
a forty three, forty four guy each year. Like it's
not like he's maximizing. He's not living above the ram
all of that. Like he's gonna make and miss jump shots,
but he's not taking any no right, that passivity like
looking at the shot chart. Normally we're sitting there and
(11:43):
looking at it and trying to parse out is that
three attempts from that area?
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Is that two? Like here at singular dots all over
the place for Julius Randall, there's a single empty circle
for a couple of the quarters, Like, these are your leaders.
These are the guys you're paying to be the leader
of your squad. They got you to this point. Yeah,
take nothing away from Alexander Walker de Vincenzo, who you're
well and the world's well.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
Familiar with at this point. But those guys had to
be exceptional to a whole other level tonight to keep
you in the game. Alexander Walker had as many assists
as Edwards did in his twenty nine minutes play.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
I mean, look, and it's not just as simple as
Anthony Edwards needs to shoot the ball more right, It's
not that simple. It's like, again, go back to what
Chris Finch said, head coach the te Wolves after the
first game against the knother was Miles Finch. He needs
Miles Finch. Miles Finch, Miles's peaches are vulnerable. Okay, don't
put me on hold. You got any more? You got
any more? Do Santa? No, You're more time? Okay say
(12:42):
it to my face one more time. Look, man, I
get is that he said we need you to set
the tone and lead, right, that's what you said. And
the passivity that he has. He doesn't set the tone.
He never set the tone tonight, like SGA tries to
set the tone. If my SHOT's not falling, I will
find a way to set the tone, and he does.
(13:03):
This should have been if it was really that bad
a night and Anthony Edwoods really had that bad a night,
well then guess what. There should have been much better plays.
If you if the defenders are too tough on you,
they're rolling two guys at you, your numbers should have
been higher in the assist department. You should have found
a way to affect the game. But instead it was
like I tried to get open and I couldn't. I
gave up, and I gave up rather than than try
(13:25):
to get to the hoop, I'm at home. Maybe you're
gonna get the get the calls and get to the
free throw line. You know SGA knows how to do it.
Was shot five to seven from the fall line. I mean, obviously.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
The the purposeful miss at the end he makes the first,
but that means you got to the fall line five times.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Wow, I mean he for that final take, I mean
you got to take some kind of responsibility. Maybe he
just doesn't understand. Maybe he needs one of those meetings where, dude,
you need to figure out a way to impart your
will on the game. This is not just it's there
for you or it's not. You need to find This
is the bleeping playoffs, man, this is you are puffs.
(14:03):
You are three years away from the NBA finals, right,
you are three ways away from playing for the Larry
O'Brien Trophy. And and it's just I don't feel like
we struggle. He's again, I don't I don't know that
he gets it, right, that's I just don't know that
he gets it. And it's part of it's always part
of the education of a star that you need to
get things. You need to understand that things are different
(14:23):
and the stakes are different in the playoffs. But he
needs that meeting, man, He needs that that NBA intervention saying, hey, dude,
you realize that that you are absolutely killing us and
not and not taking responsibility after the game. That's killing
us even more.
Speaker 3 (14:36):
Well, they do say that you're not fully formed up
in the brain until you're twenty five. He's not there yet.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Exit out about a final exit swollen dumb, Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon coming up next, Oh yeah, we get into
the other NBA Conference final, and why one of those
two teams after what they did today, is really scared
going forward. That's the next ride here, Jason and Mike Fox. Oh,
it's definitely the next.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (15:16):
Fox Sports Radio. Get After at Walrus. Jason Smith Mike
Harmon is what's gonna play in your love note to Julius? Julius,
I'm sorry, I didn't mean to put a voodo on you.
The song takes me back, Mike Harmon, takes me back?
See I like the uh the cover by my guys
(15:37):
Dan Dan Wigs form Beautiful Girls. Sure, that's okay. What's
just take you back? Takes me back to Saturday afternoon?
Oh okay, where young enterprising Culver City softball team qualified
for States for the first time in school history. Get you.
They play for the championship this weekend. Now, are you
(15:57):
a bystander? Are you on you?
Speaker 2 (15:59):
No?
Speaker 1 (15:59):
I'm a bystand I'm by standard, I'm in the album
in the outfield and screaming. And here's the best part
to say. Because Saturday, right we played the semi final.
We won six. Nothing was huge. The the guy who
was announcing sounded like Barry White. Really oh, he.
Speaker 6 (16:16):
Had the best dys and he and he would say,
betting for Culver City, Sophie, right, wow, now betting for
the Culver City centaurs so chy.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
And I'm in the I'm in the center field, pleach,
I'm going can't get enough for your love bit and
everybody saying, oh, he sounds like a different person. But
I was like, it was like it was like Lawrence
Tanter from the Lakers was doing. I was waiting, pretty impressive.
Bottom of the fifth inning, Laker girls.
Speaker 5 (16:44):
Minutes repeat the numbers twice like Bob Shepherd.
Speaker 1 (16:48):
He did, he actually did. He would say he wouldn't
say that, he wouldn't say the number too, say their name. Yeah,
you know what's crazy now, matting that Barry White, because
I really thought you were going to go back to
the Knicks winn Get which was nineteen seventy three that
was released in June of seventy four. Wow, really yeah, wow,
that's amazing about that way back machine that's now batting
(17:15):
Zoe batting Zoe. But they don't. They just do the
first name. Yeah, sorry, they just did it because it's
you know, it's a you can only get so much.
I think it's like, just get the first names right.
It's fine parents.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
Well, also the potential of let's call it it.
Speaker 1 (17:32):
It was awesome. And and here here's the best part here.
You know, typical sports talk radio host is I already
know what happens. Who to blame if we lose? To
play if we lose, right, Julius Rada, No, no, no, no, no,
our picture who has been Phenomenayah has been. She's been
like maatos no no, no, no no. She's been so
good and right as the playoffs started, was right when
(17:53):
the prom came, and so she got her hair done
for the prom, and then it just coincided with our
big win like nobody thought we'd get this. It's been
an amazing magic carpet ride of her run. And after
we win the first game, I go, you gotta keep
your prom hair. Now, she goes, no, I I can't.
You gotta keep your prom hair, right, you gotta, not
thinking she was going to. But the next game comes
and she's got her prom hair and it's all over
(18:13):
and I say to her mom, I go, Sally, she
kept her promise, she goes. I keep telling her. Zoe's
dad keeps saying, you gotta keep we gotta thing going on.
You for that. You got a thing going on here.
Ain't cheat, No, you got a thing going on. You
gotta keep your hair. So for a week and a half,
you might have to take out a loan for prom hair.
She kept her prom hare for a week, and I'm like, yeah,
we're gonna win. We're gonna like every good team has
(18:34):
a thing right, like the Mets with o MG and
the and the and the Dodgers, all the things, and
as you gotta have it. Then I saw her today
at the theater, went to see Mission Impossible, and I said,
you did your hair? She goes, I had to. I
had to. I said, oh my god, we've got the
championship is this weekend? You did just a loss? I
did my hair? Did my hair? You got you gotta
cough up a bite. No, you gotta.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
Get her on the line.
Speaker 1 (18:57):
I will, I will get you booked. We can do
we can get that hair. We can do it guaranteed.
We can do a go fund yourself to get her
another hair appointment. That's all I have to You made
it a thing. I said it was a thing. Yeah,
but you made it a thing. I blamed her. I
blamed her. Mom. Is you got to make sure she
keeps her hair. Yeah, but now you're putting undue cost
(19:18):
and burden on her. All you had to do is
not get our hair. That's happen. That doesn't take forever. Man,
it costs money to keep that. When you get your
your hair and nails did that's a lot. That's a
guaranteed you did. Like I said, sports already know what
he did. Already know what to say to screwed it up. Look,
(19:39):
and it's it's been a it's been an incredible run.
And look all the big playoffs are coming down to
it right now. And I'm happy for our coach Carlos
because I coach with him for the past five years
in Little League and did he fire you? No? No, no, no.
We coached against each other and then we coach All
Stars together, and you know, I really feel happy for
him because it doesn't have a lot of of of
of happiness in his life. He's a Raider fan, so
(20:01):
really there's not a lot, man, it's not. I mean, really,
he's that this is it for him, this is he's
a Raider fan. I'm like, you know how many times
I've texted him going, hey, so you did this and
are we even trying to win? Like, hey, sorry, but
how did this school hire him?
Speaker 5 (20:16):
Well?
Speaker 3 (20:17):
What's the softball equivalent of the tuck rule? That's that's
that's Saturday.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
I think snow cone in the outfield that falls out
right airmult airmailing the ball. Oh man, I'll tell you
it's Yeah, that would probably be it. I'm trying to
do the tuck rule for softball. I don't I don't know, man.
I got to figure out how much this hair do costs. Yeah, yeah,
it's kind of late now I got hairstyle. Well, I
(20:43):
mean they have a couple of days to reboot it. No,
you messed with it. Well, it's not my fault. I
totally all got to wear the same uniform. It's like
if somebody touched Samson's hair before war. Yeah, yeah that's true. Yeah, no,
that is true. But I didn't do it on your hand. No,
it's not wearing all the same uniforms. Like Zoe comes
home and goo. You wearing the black uniforms again. Yeah, okay,
(21:04):
give me all watch them like every other day I'm
doing you're washing uniforms. Yeah, because I do the laundry
in the house, because I know how to do it.
That's the thing that's my You gotta do something. It's
in my laundry is kind of my thing. I'm like,
let let me do it. It's difficult, let me take
care of it. Oh no, dude, because I'm a wizard. Man,
I get stays out of anything. No, I get stays
out to get stains out of it. Right there, dude,
I get stains out of so much. People like, how
(21:26):
did you judge? Because I got skills, man, because I
know how to do it. I know how to do lawn.
It's one of my things. Man, I'm not gonna stand
your laundry. That's so midnight showing at Ballerina. What do
we think I need?
Speaker 6 (21:38):
I need a baseball to get this stain out of
this uniform?
Speaker 1 (21:45):
John John john Way, John Wicking Right there. Way. So
we played for the championship and play Rancho Mirage this week.
And it's funny because a couple of rest to them,
a couple of girls. Wow, look at you. I mean
you did it. No, I didn't. You still have four
days to get another new horse style. We still have
four days. It can happen. Well, it's got to go.
I mean, can you get the recreation and that will
(22:06):
the stylists have the time, an opportunity or someone gonna
have to do it off photograph. I thought, I think
we can do it. Okay, I think we figured it
out cause you owe a hair Okay, okay, okay. If
that's what it takes to win, it's what we'll do.
It's all right, how does it do? L like, the
game's not till this weekend. It's signs buddy, and uh
so we're playing and a couple of girls, Oh do
you know anything about them? And I'm like, you know,
(22:26):
Rancho Mirage is Palm Springs, where I said, well, they're
an older team. I mean some people on the team
are like seventy Wait what it's like. No, I'm just kidding.
Speaker 3 (22:36):
They're all they're all the daughters of recording artists who
moved their facilities out to Palm Springs and Palm Desert,
where they find the peace of the evenings and the
stars shooting great inspiration.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Oh that, I'll tell you it is. Uh, it's really
gonna be something I'm nervous at antique shops. Yeah, oh yeah, sure,
sure out there it's gonna be hot, right yeah, absolute weather,
it's gonna be really hot. Hey, dude, do something I
didn't was a slather a lot of stuff. Yeah. Yeah,
you look like, Yeah, you went out in the sun
this week and had a big supper time. Yeah, and
(23:09):
you didn't put anything on. You look like one of
those guys that when they say, hey, we found this
person on Mount Everest after they were missing for seventy
two hours and their faces just got it looks like, oh,
you've been in sunburned the wind. That's kind of what
you look like.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (23:25):
No, I did a coating.
Speaker 3 (23:28):
At like seven am and didn't reapply and being as
pasty as I am. People have seen the video evidence
of it althow these many years. It's not summer until
Harmon looks like a lops and right now my skin
is starting to crack on my forehead. So I look
like Ben Grimm, I mean with a Fantastic four coming out,
(23:49):
I'm perfect.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
They you cast me straight out of Central Casting.
Speaker 3 (23:52):
No CGI, no giant no giant prosthetics or anything needed.
Speaker 1 (23:59):
Just put me in front of a camp not just
your your your your your. Mike Harmon, I blistered like
at TJ. Clearly Mike Harmon blistering in the sun on
Saturday because of no SPF. DJ.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
Yeah, how about you save these poor kids the embarrassment
on the trip? Wait what and save the sunscreen?
Speaker 1 (24:20):
That was no need to go. He's calling for you
to forfeit. Nah, dude, we're going to win. We're going
to shout out Culver City, Barry White. Maybe we'll get
the same guy to do the game again. That'd be nice.
Like I'd like him to sing the national anthem if
we could. We didn't do it. We just do the
pledge and everything. You think you could sing in the
same fore No, but I want to hear him do it.
You want to hear him try or just sing this song?
(24:44):
He finds out what you did. Can't get enough us off, baby,
And I don't know, I don't know, I don't know
why why And I did her hair again, calling this
poor girl out globally on the iHeartRadio app Culver City
(25:05):
in the house five hundred cities nationwide. I'm just hoping
honestly that the game doesn't coincide with the Knicks Bace
and I have to make a choice, Zoe, I love you,
but man, it's game six. Wow, sorry, it's game six.
(25:26):
I'm in a relationship with the Nixons before you were born?
Any waiting?
Speaker 3 (25:29):
This is the other crowd sourcing. How do we get
you next to shallow May?
Speaker 1 (25:34):
Oh? That'd be nice? Yeah, me and shadow May Shadowy
Shallam May you beating is here the whole time pitching
of movies. I would just be saying Chalama all the time.
I don't know what I would say, sha Challa May. Yeah,
And I know I've heard that a lot. Shata May.
Who's more annoying, Kylie or Jason?
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (25:49):
Oh, come on, man, I would talk basketball with him
at least.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Maybe he doesn't want all the time though he's looking
at the He's at the Knicks game.
Speaker 1 (25:56):
He's more at the Knicks games than he is acting
right now. He's probably got everything away from her.
Speaker 3 (26:03):
They just had had the run of runs the last
eighteen months he did between and the Bob Dylan biopic.
Speaker 1 (26:11):
I mean, come on, we're gonna trying to get Chala
May to come to the game instead, come to Culver
City just right here, shot May. Nobody would watch the game.
Om Zoe would just Zoe pay attention. Yeah yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah no, she would just air Shallon. All they
would say is where's Cayley? Can I get some free makeup?
Shout shout no, because that would be a big decay,
(26:33):
Like if the champions because they're still figuring out the
day of the championship that if it if it's up
do you mean what do you mean they're figuring out
the day as well, because you know, because they're moving. No,
they may move it to us from no, no, no,
they may move it to a specific stadium. It's a
big championship. Uh no, it's like Caitlin Clark, we're expanding.
(26:53):
So we're waiting to find out exactly just when the
game is because now all the championships in this week
and then you know we got states and everything. So, uh,
they're figuring out. So if it's opposite the Knicks, like,
I don't know, Man, that's tough. That's tough.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Make sure your wireless plan is paid up and got
good reception. Yeah right, you're not next to a poll
or some an will say he's always up. But Brunson's
at the line with thirty seconds left. Okay, all right,
I guess all right, fine, she's got plenty of bats
left in that bat. By the way, we're down six
to one, and it's all her hair's fault, so it
(27:26):
really doesn't matter. This is like a Sammy, so said
Bat at this point.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
To Mike Trout with the Angels, look now at stats
and honestly where no wins. So I went, oh, oh, oh,
this is a bet. The other thing Saturday, right, Saturday
was awesome? Right, we win the game Saturday six? Nothing?
You had some cheese? No, no, no, no, dude went
to I was I was one of the did I
was one of the one hundred and fifty people that
(27:51):
went to the Angels Marlins game Saturday night? Because a
say that that was in family sparsely attended? Yeah, kind yeah, so,
and again it's everything that that you expect. First of all,
First of all, it's my fault. As much as as
much as I cursed Julius Randall, I think we cursed
the Angels. They had won eight in a row. We
(28:12):
went to the loss.
Speaker 3 (28:14):
Have something in common, now, Yeah, we've both seen the
Marlins live this year because I saw the White Sox
beat them a couple of weeks ago. Who are you at?
Speaker 1 (28:23):
And we're friend that went see you went to Angels Marlining.
He looks at me and says, do you know any
of these guys on the Marlins. It's like their lineup
is so Gen Dawson. But I said, here's the thing,
and I said, I said, look, go into a game
like this. It's not about the game, it's about the amenities.
And he was like all right, and sure enough, we
pull up and we park right outside of the gate. Right.
(28:46):
This is not like Dodgers everywhere you go and you
drop drive around for forty five minutes a month, you're
still a mile and a half drive around. You have
to park and then walk in, and it's it's a
mile and a half to walk in. No Angels. We
basically it was almost We parked where it's almost like hey,
when they give a car away and they drive it
on the field, like that's almost where we got to park.
They've got to go all the way up and stop
and park. We walked out. We from our car into
(29:08):
the stadium. I don't know that I took seventy five steps. Like,
that's how close it was to get in, right. So
you get in and and we we sit, and we
sit in the box and and right there they bring
the food to you at your seat and you just
scan on the thing and they bring the food and
they don't want it to go to waste. No, But
it's awesome that I don't have to get up bring
it to somebody. I don't have to get up to
(29:29):
get anything, right. I just that's the best part, right,
that's the thing. The trade off is you're watching the
Angels and the Marlins. Like, okay, I could watch the Dodgers.
I can watch the Dodgers, and boy, I get to
see Otani and Freeman and the and the show and
all of that. That was awesome. But it's you know,
it's a big way to get there and park and
then getting in and stand in line for the helmet nachos.
(29:52):
We're here. I could just sit down and then scan
the app and and go through the menu and that
food comes out so fast. Yeah, like I expected to hear,
you know, oh, or this one. How long is it?
How long is it gonna take? Well, let's order, we'll see.
We never know. We ordered. I had chicken fingers and
a hot dog. Pam got something something else. Eight minutes
(30:13):
later they were at the seat going seat five. Pam, yep,
here you go eight, pass it right down. I'm like,
with an is awesome? M m pam you say panned, Pam, No, Pam,
my wife and it's like yeah, and my wife not
like you you and she is number three. So and
they bring it so fast, and I'm like, this is amazing.
(30:35):
I don't need to get up. They can just keep
bringing you food. I go, how long does it take here?
They bring it right to you, bring it right to You.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
Know, if you order every half inning, all eighty one
home dates, you're still coming well short in the hundreds
of millions of the monies that went up the five.
Speaker 1 (30:56):
You're not helping already moreno out yeah, and still everybody
wears a tawy like nobody wears anything, buy anything news.
Speaking on those pillows that they waited outurds for, remember
those what's.
Speaker 3 (31:07):
That guy got he's got a It's like the popcorn
containers at Disneyland and you see a guy walking by
with thirty of them. Same thing there they all the
otani pillows and then what they do they went back
for a second date.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Yeah, oh yeah, because nobody wears any Solaire jerseys or warders.
Honest still wearing giveaways in Anaheim. I think they are,
Actually they are, I would they're not trying to figure
it out. What do you got?
Speaker 5 (31:31):
Hey? You know what?
Speaker 1 (31:31):
We already had those on order? Did you really? Maybe?
I mean, how else are you getting one hundred and
fifty people there? It was a yeah, it was it
was a promise of quick service on their food. Or
it was a back order. It was a back order,
So that's it. I mean it was slow, it was
on a boat, it was back ordered.
Speaker 3 (31:48):
There was a plastic shortage, I mean whatever you want
to say, tariffs. I mean you could throw up a
million flares up in there. I was like all these
excuses for the next Otani giveaways.
Speaker 1 (32:00):
So that was a day. That was a day crazy.
They go get them, Culver City, go get him, coach
Carlos Nervis. Look, uh I think I was eating at
that point. Probably no, Uh yeah, I think I was eating. Marlin.
I just I can give you the name, I mean,
stares former oriole if I. So that's again, if I
(32:21):
said Carlos Shavez you would say it plays for the Marlins.
No coach Culver City. Oh okay, all right, that's great,
okay great? Is he a Marlins? They are? Is he
a Marlin or is he a high school? Sup?
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Eight seven seven ninety nine. So we get back into
the NBA playoffs, Isaig, Where you think I'm gonna zag
on the Eastern Conference Finals? That's next, Jason and Mike Fox.
Speaker 2 (32:48):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific Fox.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike harm Yes, sir, and we'll get back in the
NBA coming up in a few minutes. But I forgot
we want to we're gonna talk about this whole Kirk
Cousins situation. Uh, thanks to Jason Lock and forrest up
and by with us earlier in the show. NFL in
Solder Uh reports today that the Steelers backup plan not
(33:18):
to be a backup, but their plan B. Let's just
say yeah, the Steelers plan B for a quarterback. Over
the course of the last few days. If Aaron Rodgers does
not decide he wants to play wants to wait for
something else more, that Kirk Cousins could be their backup plan,
something we've speculated right about on this show for a while.
But yeah, Jeremy Fowler adding some fuel to it. Now
(33:41):
he is still on the Falcons because the Falcons. There's
just there's just one thing wrong with him being on
the Falcon decision to keep him right now, there's one one,
one thing wrong. Let's say I got what they're trying.
There's only one thing wrong with with with their decision
to keep him on the roster right now. It's one
thing wrong. Tell me what it is. It's stupid, Okay,
the only thing that's wrong, all right, So that's a
(34:01):
variant of its stinks. He's not your quarterback anymore. He
could have had value elsewhere in the league. But no, no,
we're happy holding on is our backup. That that's just stupid, right,
That's stupid from Arthur Blank all the way down. When
you when you have a quarterback and it doesn't work out,
you made the decision. How you get on and move
(34:22):
on from quarterbacks? Now in the NFL, is you pay
a lot of money, you eat a lot of money,
and you move on. It's what the Packers did with Rogers.
It's what the Jets did with Rogers. It's what the
Seattle Seahawks did with Russell Wilson. It's what the Broncos
did with Russell Wilson. This is how it works. When
you make a mistake, you eat money, I mean and
(34:44):
and and for them to say we're okay with him
being the backup, all right, when there's no games going
on and there's no real team activities, it sounds great, right,
there's nothing wrong with that. It's a problem. Your starter
from last year, who is a who you signed to
be a start, not that you signed to be a backup.
He assented. If someone got hurt, then he goes back.
(35:04):
But this is a guy you signed to be your starter.
He doesn't stay on the team if he's not starting anymore.
It's a problem. It's a problem, and you eat money
and you move on because now the Falcons have screwed
themselves because eventually they're gonna they're gonna have to eat
money and just not have him because there is no
other team in the NFL that is going to trade
for him outside of the Steelers. And if Steelers get
(35:26):
Aaron Rodgers, which is their first plan. Guess what you're
stuck and you mean no team in the NFL? Like,
is it interesting Kirk Cousins, Yes, but no team is
going to trade for him? Right? They needed to make
this move in free agency before the draft and say
we'll eat a bunch of cash. But instead, what did
you get today when when the when the Plan B
story came out? The Falcons really want a team X
(35:48):
to pay this amount of money if they're gonna trade him? No, dude,
I'm sorry. There's interest, but there's not all kinds of
interest because Cousins was bad last year. Now, is there
the school of thought that, Okay, it took him more
time because he's old to get over his injury, and
maybe the second year is gonna be better. Sure, because
he saw that with Rodgers the end of last year
he was a lot better than he was beginning of
last year. But you've screwed yourselves now, because if you
(36:09):
can't get him to Pittsburgh and they probably still screw
it up and ask for Pittsburgh to pay a lot
of money and Pittsburgh's not paying money for anybody, you
screwed yourself, Like the Falcons have no idea what it
is to run a franchise when it comes to big
money decisions in twenty twenty five, when you pay money
for a quarterback and it doesn't work out, he's gone,
and you find a way to get him away from
(36:31):
your team because it's going to be a problem. But
the Falcons clearly don't get that, don't understand that. So
now they're gonna wind up being stuck if Rogers winds
up going to the Steelers, and they're gonna wind up
eating money to release him anyway, and then a team
will say, oh yeah, Kirk Cousins come in for five million,
six million dollar. Yeah, okay, we're having to come as
a backup. Maybe you wis send, but no one's going
to make a trade for him and pay pay money
(36:52):
for him. That's stupid and you completely misvalued that.
Speaker 3 (36:55):
Yeah, I think it comes down to this is you're
at the point, if you're Arthur bla Is, you realize
you're in a corner and you're trying to find someone
who becomes desperate and hoping that Aaron Rodgers decides you'd
rather keep going and doing a speaking tour and podcasts
and occasional TV appearances rather than be an NFL quarterback.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
That's your hope.
Speaker 3 (37:18):
Uh so you at least have one team in an
active potential desperation to try to compete.
Speaker 1 (37:24):
Okay, fine. The other is you have to go find
a guy like I don't know, the Bill Murray character
in Caddy Shack. You gotta find a Carl to go
find you some gophers. And here you have to create
a bunch of gopher holes on practice fields across the
NFL and hope that some other team has a horrible injury.
So suddenly you have a marketplace for your core. You
(37:46):
were kind of going Sam Kennison there, that was It
was a little bit Sam Kennison.
Speaker 3 (37:49):
I would have had to go up in the register
to a full on screen. But oh he's too big.
But just that idea. All right, I'll say it. But
now you're standing around and saying, Okay, the odds are
and history has shown that this number of quarterbacks are
either failures or get hurt in the training camp and preseason.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
That's what you're doing. Every Arthur Blank, You're holding out home.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
Steady steady versus cutting your losses and moving on.
Speaker 1 (38:22):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
He's got a reported thirty seven and a half thirty
eight million dollars in cuting the seventies in a row. Yeah,
for over the next two years.
Speaker 1 (38:30):
I get that. That's a lot of money. You've done
a lot of business deals, Arthur Blank miss You've written
off thirty eight million dollars in some of your other
business ventures through the years. This is one where you
take the pat on the back, recognize this is not
good for anybody and move on.
Speaker 5 (38:47):
Now.
Speaker 3 (38:47):
If you're looking at it as he's insurance in case
Pennix isn't the guy or gets hurt, I guess I
understand the logic to a small degree. Because dollar cost
averaging your quarterback position, you're not paying that much for
Panicx's deal.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
I get it.
Speaker 3 (39:02):
But having Kirk cousins in the room ain't the healthiest
way to go either.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
You gotta follow my philosophy. Of my philosophy that I follow.
When lunch is don't change the hair. When lunch is
put in front of me, you gotta eat it. That's
my philosophy. You got it. When lunch is put in
front of you gotta eat it. When you make that mistake,
you gotta eat the money. You gotta say, all right,
we're gonna pay all of that, what can we do
to get a draft pick to do something? And they
(39:27):
completely blew it, Like really, when I watched them for
the last year, it's like, do you know what you're
doing a quarterback? Do you really know? But even this,
you're not gonna have to pay the full freight of
the thirty seven to five good Heelers are gonna meet
you part of the way because you get to cost
fifteen or whatever for Rogers. This is if if if.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
If, And I'm saying, you know, in terms of alternative
costs and opportunity costs coming.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
Up next back into the NBA playoffs, why one team
might be running scared after today. Fox
