Speaker 4 (01:18):
Well, yeah, here we.
Speaker 1 (01:19):
Are in the fourth quarter making a thirty five seventeen
lead for USC over Northwestern.
Speaker 4 (01:25):
We got Pete Futec college football.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
News insider coming up at about fifteen minutes his predictions prognostications.
Speaker 4 (01:32):
For all the big games of the weekend.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Coming elimination weekend for a lot of teams in college football,
because here we are in November and some of those
two loss teams that have tough games, this is what
knocks you out right. One thing we have seen pretty
I feel is a pretty good constant with the new
playoff format is that you get to three losses, you're
(01:55):
likely not making it.
Speaker 4 (01:57):
You need some sort.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Of active god of some Well, this three loss team
is gonna somehow get in. You need like an injury
early in the season to your quarterback and you win
all those games. Really, three losses is the elimination factor
four teams, and we got a bunch of them. Hey,
two loss teams coming up this weekend playing games they
(02:18):
could lose. These are gonna knock the teams that are
you know, ranked seventeen, eighteen, twenty twenty two. You're cooked
after this right, doesn't matter where you are in the rankings,
you lose that third game, you're not getting back in
not with this amount of time left and now with
the number of two loss teams and teams are gonna
make it to their conference playoff championship games.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (02:38):
The other part of the equation becomes if a team
that is near to where you are, maybe a two
loss team, sustains one of those big injuries. We've seen
that before, haven't we to where all of a sudden,
it's like, you know what, this team's a better spot,
you know, a better play to get into the playoffs
and can make some noise. Oh and if they're a
(02:58):
big enough school then that helps all the better. But yeah,
it's it's gonna be a fun final four weeks of
this season.
Speaker 6 (03:05):
Right.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
There's a lot of big games still on the slate,
you know, especially when you look at the Big Ten Conference,
when you look at the SEC and some of the
heavyweight battles still to come, and some that might be
a little off the beaten path. But as we know,
if you got a road game in November, magnify it, right,
all of a sudden, you know, a little bit of
puckering and teams rising up to play spoilers. So it's
(03:29):
that fun time of year.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
The only thing that's gonna be that because college football
has to fix the one, the one biggest thing, right,
and it's it's not it's not anything about losses for teams,
but it's that eventually they're gonna have to take the
teams that make it to the conference championship game, right,
because yeah, once in a while, you're gonna get a
(03:53):
no loss team making to the conference championship against a
team that's not great, not a top twenty five team,
and yet you know they Okay, you're gonna get that.
But that's where it's like the NCAA tournament, you get
to win and get in, right, you can win and
get it right on the conference I get to go in.
But what's gonna be a thing is that you have
a two loss team headed into the conference championship game.
(04:15):
They lose to a team that's undefeated. Okay, but they
made it to the conference championship. They were ten and two.
How do you break down their season when you compare
them to other three or two loss teams, Like, can
you really knock them out? Because well, they lost three
games Meanwhile, other teams, a couple other teams maybe that
(04:37):
didn't make it to the conference championship game, are sitting
there with two losses, but you have them in. Wait
a minute, so you're penalizing this team because they played
an extra game against a better team, so they don't
get to get in. Mean while they made it further
than the other team with two losses. Or here they
are their third losses in the conference championship game and
they're not gonna get in because a three loss Alabama
(04:58):
team that didn't even make it to the SEC title
game is going to get in ahead of them. That's
the one sticky wicket because you're going to start seeing
those two loss teams make it into the the conference
championship and it's going to be what do you do?
How do you how do you deal with the losing
team from that game and the fairest way? And that's
something that college football is still figuring out.
Speaker 5 (05:17):
Yeah, I mean, when we get to the super conferences,
it won't matter because we'll just eliminate uh the conference
championship games and we'll move on. But yeah, there are
going to be those circumstances, especially you know you're playing
in divisions where a strange happen stance and a team
rises up that might not fit. And you know, the
any given Sunday rule does apply to all of this
(05:41):
one one game, one fluke play, you know, a guy
throwing a pass or a quarterback dislodging a ball at
the goal line. Strange things happen to propel you to
victory in these games along the way. So, uh yeah,
and starting to really scoreboard watch a little bit more
as we get deeper into the season, right where we're
talking about margin of victory's quality of wins. Some of
(06:03):
those that looked monumental in Week two are now kind
of like, well, that team stinks. Did they have any
significant injuries? No, just things suddenly started going south. So
it's like, all right, how good a win was that?
Speaker 6 (06:17):
Right?
Speaker 5 (06:17):
And and that's part of the equation and the delicate
balance of college football, particularly in this new age that
we're in, Jason, when we're talking about the fluidity of
rosters and guys bouncing between schools, and you know, you're
coming into these preseason rankings and I'm not one that
says take them away. I know there's some some people
very loud in that camp, But there's a lot of
(06:38):
unknown there's a lot of assumptions ab how things are
going to play out, and then all of a sudden
you see teams getting waxed and problematic. We were talking
about that that Miami Syracuse game, right that that comes
up tomorrow, Like Miami, you know, at the start of
the season huge. How good are they? I don't know,
but they're they're in the mix right because they started
(07:01):
so strongly that there's still you know, some of that
that luster hasn't been lost altogether for the teams that
did take them down. But say they get tested by
your squad tomorrow, is that what's the effect? Like, what's
the coefficient on those losses?
Speaker 1 (07:20):
If they get tested by Syracuse, We're terrible. They say,
you're out of college football.
Speaker 3 (07:24):
You're you're playing well, you're just gonna get banished altogether.
Speaker 4 (07:27):
You're playing, you're playing at FCS. Good luck, you're playing
Jackson State next week.
Speaker 5 (07:30):
Yeah, twenty seven or twenty eight and a half is
the spread for those unaware.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
Just to put some color on it, but it's out.
Speaker 5 (07:38):
But it's that kind of thing where even if you
win the game, do you get the same level when
we're talking about twelve a twelve team playoff. Maybe there's
a little more margin for that to where you don't
have to go impress the pollsters as you did once
upon a time. But it does make for some curious
decisions in the final minutes of games, right, whether you
(07:59):
run it up or or you stop at the one
or things like that. Does the margin of victory help
you if you were to punch it in again? So
we'll watch coaches grapple with that stuff and see what
kind of efforts we get in the fourth quarters of
some of these games that should be blowouts, but maybe
by appearances aren't because let's face it, not everybody's watching
(08:20):
sixty minutes of these games.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
Right, it's a highlight league or highlight.
Speaker 5 (08:24):
It's a highlight No no, no, Adam Silver has jurisdiction here,
highlight league highlight.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
Like, uh, say, we got more college football coming up
in a few minutes, but big football Friday, couple of
NFL games we haven't gotten to yet. Look, we have
a big slate this weekend. And I'll tell you this,
I am still not one of the games of the week.
And and it's it's it's gonna be again a game
that I don't normally have a lot of rooting interest
(08:50):
one way or another in some games.
Speaker 4 (08:52):
But for you know, the teams, I don't like that.
I just don't believe in. That just upset me.
Speaker 1 (08:56):
I really want to see them lose. I am not
gonna believe in Pitts. I'm never gonna believe in the Steelers.
Not this year. They should get absolutely thumped by the Chargers. Yes,
they beat Indianapolis. Indianapolis had their first stinker this year.
It happens, right, it happens. Okay, Yes, but Pittsburgh won
the game. Okay, This is where I expect the Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 4 (09:21):
In season decline to begin.
Speaker 1 (09:23):
Right because of his age, where he's at, I thought
this season was gonna go for him exactly how it's going.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
Hey, he'll be okay early on.
Speaker 1 (09:33):
And then the deeper the season gets, the more he plays,
the more biology is gonna catch up with him, and
suddenly it's gonna get a little bit more difficult. The
throws aren't gonna have that much kind of zip on them,
moving around is gonna get a little bit more difficult.
And this should be a game where we see that
the Chargers defense should own the day. Look, Joealt being
out for the year an absolutely huge blow. Maybe he's
(09:55):
the MVP of the NFL. But I still expect the
Chargers to be able to do enough to win this game,
because look, Steelers defense isn't great, right, They don't again,
they don't do anything really well. They don't throw it well,
they don't run it well, they don't play defense well.
The Chargers are a terrific team. Yes, Joe Alt was
a big injury slater early in the year, but I
have to think they'll have enough against a team that
(10:16):
is just not really good at a lot to be
able to win this game, and win this game somewhat
comfortably and make life really difficult for Rogers on Sunday,
I'll be the most surprised guy in the world. We
come out of this and Rodgers has three touchdowns and
the Steelers win, and I have to admit, well, maybe
Pittsburgh's okay, but I'd be really surprised if that happened.
Give me the Chargers, give me the Chargers to roll
(10:37):
up a win here, and it's a tough day, and
it's a tough stat line for Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 5 (10:41):
Yeah, curious game here, because the wild card in and
all is what pass rush are you getting from the Steelers?
On paper, it looks like it should be able to
get home, right you mentioned Joe w Alt. We talk
about the issues they've had stand healthy on the O line.
They made the trade with New Orleans to bring in
some relief and an extra body, but what that translates
(11:03):
to remains to be seen. Still waiting for Hampton to
get back by Doll has been pretty good and Spots
and Herbert spread the ball around. He's second in the
league in terms of yards per game, so still pushing it.
The defense has been pretty good overall. So yeah, for Pittsburgh,
it's just a giant question mark of what you're getting,
(11:23):
you know, the middle of the pack in terms of
the offense and defensive metrics and rob last week against Indianapolis,
well they had barely over two hundred total yards. Yeah right,
I mean it was not a clean game in any way,
shape or form. One of the I guess would go
in the dictionary with the picture of that box score
(11:45):
of this is how you win a game by winning
the turnover battle, because that's exactly what that was, right,
Because Jalen Warren did not run the ball well. They're
they're not running the ball well like you're accustomed to
the Steelers doing. And I think that's where ultimately this
falls up. Part Dk Metcalf's been a non existent part
of the game. You've gotten some run from the tight
(12:06):
ends on occasion, but I just don't think offensively they
can do enough to make this work unless they get
the pass rush that sets them up on the doorstep,
and that's not going to happen with Herbert in this offense.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
No, And look, the Chargers play in the toughest division
in the NFL and the Steelers playing the worst. Okay,
you know, on paper this looks like it's Hey, these
two are equal. No, the Chargers should win this game,
and if they don't, my pick of Chargers Broncos AFC
Championship game from the beginning of the season.
Speaker 4 (12:38):
I love it.
Speaker 1 (12:39):
But man, if they can't win this game and it's
the first game with Joe alt out and you know
there's no other help coming, there's no trade deadline. I
really thought they'd be a little bit more active offensive
line wise to try to because they knew what was
going to be done. So why did they didn't make
a move. But man, if they have a tough time
in this game against the defense, that's just okay. And
they're playing at home. Man, it really is time to
(13:00):
sit back and say, Okay, things look great for the
Chargers early, but maybe it's just not their year and
they needed to. As much as Harbaugh built the offensive line,
he's got some more work to do in the offseason
because a couple of injuries will have torpedoed their year
because it's been up and back, up and back, and
eventually the good teams start taking off. And this is
where the Chargers should, in theory, be able to take off.
(13:23):
And if they don't this week, man, I don't know
what to say. That's gonna be a tough one.
Speaker 5 (13:27):
I was told it was their year. The billboards in
between all the accident attorneys told me it was their year.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
Yeah, yeah, I'm telling you. You called Jacob, you can
call Larry H. Parker, you call somebody else to fight
for you.
Speaker 4 (13:41):
It's their year. It's their year.

You're one stop shopping for everything college football, all the picks,
all the analysis, long time front of the show, Pete
few Tech, Pete Happy Friday.
Speaker 4 (15:28):
Man, how's it going.
Speaker 6 (15:29):
I'm just going to help out all those people, those
starving YouTube TV people that you know. I'll just tell
you what's going to happen, you know, so there's no
you're not missing out on anything. You go take a walk,
or go look at fall colors, or do something else
of your Saturday. So you're not All the good games
are pretty much going to be on regular TV and
you're not really this much.
Speaker 4 (15:50):
Okay, And there you go. That's good. I like that,
you know that. You know, that's the one thing, Pete,
this whole.
Speaker 6 (15:54):
I'm y, I'm trying to make everything better though. I'm
trying to help help. You know.
Speaker 1 (15:58):
It's funny because you know, obviously we spend some time
talking about that this week and the whole YouTube thing,
and I said, you know, the one thing that ESPN
has to really understand is that once you show that
you can get along without something, people don't come back
to it. And no one is underserved with college football.
Like if I can't watch Alabama Tennessee, okay, I'll watch
(16:21):
Oregon and Penn State, right, I'll watch Michigan and Nebraska.
Like if I'm not getting what is a big game,
I'm okay because I can still watch other great college
football games. And that's not something where oh I gotta
get back ESPN to see this game.
Speaker 2 (16:33):
No.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
I can get games on Fox and CBS and everywhere else,
all across the dial.
Speaker 6 (16:38):
It's not the NFL, and so it's it's the thing
that everyone has to remember is that it's so provincial
that everyone assumes all everyone cares about Alabama and Georgia.
Well they do get the biggest rating TV ratings and
all that, but yeah, it's everyone in the South watches it.
It's not like you know, and then of course people
watch on national scale, but like they're you know, Ohio
(16:59):
States fans don't know, you know, Vanderbilt exists, you know,
like invice versa. So like it's just sort of hard
for this and you're right with this is proving more
than anything else. It's just the game. The rest of
the talking blah blah blah. It's just it's just it's
you don't need it, you know, nobody really is gonna
miss that stuff. So and then I'll put it to
(17:20):
this like it's for the NBA, like that's gonna quickly
turn when you can't get NBA games on YouTube TV.
And for me who doesn't really care until the playoffs. Okay,
here's a game on somewhere. I'll have it on in
the background. But am I going to like go out
of my way and pay for it?
Speaker 4 (17:34):
Now? All right?
Speaker 1 (17:36):
So while we get to see whatever games we all
get to see tomorrow, we don't look we get into
the elimination part of the season, right. We talked about
that a lot tonight, because here's usc with two losses,
their next loss knocks them out. We got a lot
of teams now in the back end of the top
twenty and then in the top twenty five with a
couple of losses, You see any elimination games for any
of those teams this weekend that hey, guess what that
(17:57):
third loss means.
Speaker 4 (17:58):
You're gonna be cooked.
Speaker 6 (18:00):
Everyone, And if you have losen to the third game,
it's over everyone. If you, yeah, there's no way unless
you can somehow manage to get into a conference ship
Power four conference championship with three losses or with two
losses and then lose that championship games, you're there's no
way if you cannot go nine and three and get
(18:20):
into this college football playoffs. Not this year, it's just
it's just not going to happen because there's too many teams,
there's too much traffic. So for example, the Oregon Iowa
game tomorrow, that's an elimination game pretty much. If you
think that Iowa's going to lose, so Oregon can still
stay alive, but obviously would take a big hit Iowa.
(18:41):
That's gonna be a problem if they can't get that done.
But really, for the most part, what you're looking for
if you're a fan of a two loss if you're
a USC fan, or if you're say a Missouri fan,
and you can pull that off against Texas A and
m tomorrow or two loss teams, you need notre Dame
and or preferably both Miami to lose because those two
(19:05):
are going to screw up everyone. Because no matter what
happens in the next few seconds here in Memphis, Tulane,
South Florida is going to rip through everyone else and
the domino effect from there because South Florida is going
to get in Miami destroyed South Florida. Notre Dame is
going to get incase it's going to be ten and two.
Miami beat Notre Dame. So it might be low on
(19:26):
the totem pole, but you need another Miami loss or
it's going to be the ten seed and all this
Q show.
Speaker 4 (19:34):
Syrahcuse to save college football as we.
Speaker 6 (19:37):
Know it, Yes, exactly. Hey you know what, let's see
if they can do that. That's just bomb away. They're
still throwing, all right. They just can't stop anybody or
score point. It's like they forget to score points, like
moving like yeah, well shoot, we've got to score okay.
Uh but yeah, like you said, I'm with you. I'm
(19:59):
actually I've actually lifted your thought here. If you want
to say who is the MVP of the season, well
who's more MVP year than you know, Steve and Jelly,
because geez, yeah, I mean everything.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Syracuse is three and one. We beat Clemson. He's a
leading passer in the country. And now we haven't won
a game six just to terrible.
Speaker 6 (20:18):
And they can't score. And if that just can't win,
they went from being this high octane thing to you know,
maybe you'll score, maybe it won't. I mean, it's it's
been completely chick But tomorrow is gonna be painful because
actually the other big here, here's the other factor in this.
And I haven't actually checked lately to see if this matters.
I believe the game is at like three thirty in
(20:41):
the afternoon in Miami Gardens time. That's gonna be It's
not gonna be football weather in terms, that's that's gonna be.
And the other one is gonna be, uh Arizona, So
it's Arizona is going to be playing in the middle
of the day where it's gonna be about eighty five
degrees and Tucson so like any you know, midday start times.
(21:02):
They're gonna take their toll on some of these teams.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
That Arizona Kansas game sitting there. Yeah, it's it's a
curious slate. We don't have a lot of the top
twenty five's matched up here. But Pete, we've been talking
about trying to find that edge, and I guess I'll
ask the next question, who's the next coach getting fired
at the end of tomorrow.
Speaker 6 (21:21):
It ain't Luke Pickle apparently, Now.
Speaker 4 (21:23):
How about that?
Speaker 3 (21:24):
What's he got going on?
Speaker 6 (21:26):
I don't know, I don't Maybe it's maybe it's me,
maybe because I refuse to drop a dime of nil
money to the school that like, I don't know, but yeah,
they're gonna get a bigger commitment to you know, something
or other. I don but yeah, but look, you know,
everyone's on a hot seat now. It's crazy. I mean,
it still kind of gets lost in the in the
(21:48):
whole shuffle here, but you know, Alabama's this presumptive national
championship contender. It got blown off pretty fast that they
were a miracle against South Carolina if you bet a
little a little while back away from this being kal
in the Moore hot seat game. So but I do
sort of think that that's I am curious to see
what's gonna happen with Frank Wilson taking over there for
(22:10):
Brian Kelly, because from all little indications, there's not anybody
on that team who is extremely upset about the Brian Kelly,
you know, firing in this so let's see if that
team comes out shot and comes out shot like a cannon.
So that's gonna be a pretty fun game to watch
when they go against Bama tomorrow night.
Speaker 5 (22:29):
S Yeah, I brought that up to you earlier, Smith saying, hey,
it's the wild card because you know, normally you boil
it down to all right, we're just not good whatever.
There were a lot more stories that started circulating about
Brian Kelly than your usual firing. It's not just hey,
here's his record against top twenty five, top ten, top five, whatever.
Speaker 6 (22:48):
How about I think they were bringing out the training camp,
blocking sleds and things like in the last two weeks.
They're just doing the old school Oklahoma type thing, you know, drill,
isn't it just little things like that? But like, who
knows because we're seeing that though, because you're seeing you know,
the coach takes, the coach leaves, new coach comes in,
(23:09):
and all of a sudden, they kind of just play.
It's like, and this is this has been a kind
of a theme I've been thinking about with quarterbacks. You know,
certainly when you can just tell when they're just they're
they're just over coach, not to screw up and then
all of a sudden, you have a two minute drill
and they can just let it rip. It be a quarterback,
then all of a sudden, it look great. Well, sometimes
that happens with teams, you know, whether it's UAB coming
(23:32):
out and beating this Memphis team, or you know, you
know u c l a all of a sudden, you know,
taking a deep breath and looking great for a little while,
or you know, I you know, Florida's been was okay
against Georgia, even though I think the billion nape, your
timing was pretty curious. So I'm really curious that I'm
curious to see I think, actually, I know there are
other circumstances around is firing at the old place, But
(23:54):
I think Auburn just upgraded from Hugh Freeze to DJ Durkin.
I'm I'm really curious to see what All does over
the next few weeks because they've been close. That's another
Syracuse like team that just can't score. And if they
could just start to put a few more points on
the board. Their defense has been great, they could screw
someone up over the next few weeks.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
Pete fu Tech College Footballnews dot Com with us Jason
Smith Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
You know one thing I love Pete as this season
evolves is that, look they're on the big Nude Kickoff tomorrow.
I like the fact that Indiana has become America's team
of twenty twenty five, Like they've become that the little
engine that could with zero football history at all, and
(24:37):
here's a guy, they have a guy that could be
the number one pick in the draft, and they're undefeated,
and it's it's such a shock for everybody, but everybody
loves Indiana. Everybody America's team twenty twenty five.
Speaker 6 (24:48):
I apparently found out to my wife actually knows Fernando
Mendoza's mom. So do you know who this is? This
Fernando Mendoza. Yeah, I know who he is, Like okay,
like in the small little world of Scoga. But by
the way, the whole Indiana being America's team, have you
talked to anybody from OH, I don't know, Alabama or
(25:08):
SEC Country because they're still living off the narrative the
oh Indiana can't beat it. It hasn't played anybody sort
of narrative. And I'd had to point out way too
many times in the last week and a half or so.
They beat Oregon at Oregon by double digits. They destroyed Illinois,
they beat Iowa at Iowa, and there's just there's they've
(25:29):
been flawless against everyone else. I mean, they've just you know, okay,
so if your schedule isn't is crazy, you might dig there.
Well what do they do? They come out there and
they win every game by double digits. They've just been
fantastic so far. And it's you know, I'm with you.
At the very least, it provides hope, and it really
screws up the idea of you know, not being able
to be great right away, because sometimes that's whatever one's
(25:51):
qu's what everyone's firing their coach because they see, well,
Indiana can do it, Why can't LSU or Florida you know,
any of these teams you know, pop up right away.
It's not that easy. So Netti is just just a generational,
talented guy. And I keep saying, look, if you're Penn State,
if you're LSU, if you're Florida, pony up. It's only
a fifteen million dollars buyout to get him out of there,
(26:12):
Go get.
Speaker 4 (26:13):
Them, Pete.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
I would be remiss.
Speaker 5 (26:15):
We talked about it a little bit earlier in the show,
and I see the headline on College footballnews dot Com
Colorado versus West Virginia prediction the Big Twelve's most interesting
game is is it the final throws of the Dion run.
Speaker 6 (26:29):
I don't know if it's that. I mean because still
at the end of the day, if it was, it's
the most Obviously Texas Tech BYU is the biggest game.
That's it. But in terms of just being interesting for
like you said, all the storylines, because it's not just
that they're not winning, I mean, they're getting they they
just don't look like they can play football. I mean,
this has been a colossal meltdown over the last two games.
(26:52):
And if they get hammered again, like you know, forty
five to seven or something by West Virginia, who that's
another team that can't score except for last week. If
Alison's rich Rod thing works, that's what kind of makes
it interesting. And the problem is this kind of goes
for everything. If Colorado, if that wasn't Deon Sanders, if
that was just coach, you know, Joan, then you'd still say, look,
(27:17):
you know Colorado from where they were three years ago.
It's still in great shape. It's still you know, rising up,
it's still rebuilding. You can meet. There's also just a
narrative you can take to it. But because it was
so overhyped before then now it's just you's got to
be able to at least show that you can there's
life after Shador Sanders, because obviously he was the reason
(27:37):
why they won so many really close games.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
Yep, I look at it this way, Pete as that
look you see that they've lost the last two weeks
combined score of like one hundred and twenty to thirty. Like,
I feel like this is a year where it's going
to be a bad year. There's no bowl game where
he is in a winneror go home type situation. Next
year where if he doesn't win, get to a bowl game.
Show he's got things going right direction. Colorado's going to
(28:01):
move on, as.
Speaker 6 (28:04):
I keep thinking, I wouldn't be shocked if you had
moved if deonce is he moved on to Florida State.
I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, look, it's
the problem is for and I kind of I've always
I've been in a Bashi anderstand and I actually liked
what he did, and I still do like he did.
(28:25):
What you want to do if you're a long suffering
you know, Fanda, you want to see guys. And he
came in and said, you guys aren't good at football.
I'm getting rid of the bad guys at football and
I'm bringing the good guys who are football. And they were,
you know, but the problem is there's an infrastructure there.
It takes years to find the right five guys for
a starting line. It takes years unless you're Texas Tech.
(28:46):
They're also a lot of money to get that defensive
line right, and they are not. It's it's, you know,
the whole cliche blocking and tackling. They are not blocking
and tackling very well. So yeah, it's it's been an
ugly run for them.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
You can fall him on Twitter at Pete Feutech. That
is at Petefeutech college footballnews dot com. You're one stop
shopping for everything college football. Pete is always appreciated. I
look forward to seeing you cast your Heisman ballot for
Steve Angeli.
Speaker 6 (29:15):
Oh, at least number two?
Speaker 3 (29:17):
All right, very nice?
Speaker 4 (29:19):
Wait didn't you have did you have Kyle McCord on
your ballot last year?
Speaker 6 (29:23):
I did not I was Kyle McCord was on my
ballot as much as Travis Hunter was.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
So okay, wow, Okay boom. Pete fu Tech, everybody, Wow
to your money man. Have fun.
Speaker 1 (29:40):

Speaker 1 (33:27):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon
live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios coming up next, Yes,
Big night in college football, but after something that happened
earlier tonight, I have a sneaking suspicion this is going
to be the trend in college basketball between now and
the end of the year.
Speaker 4 (33:47):
What is it?
Speaker 1 (33:48):
It's something that some adults will love and some adults
will absolutely hate.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
That's next, Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (33:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 4 (34:04):

Speaker 1 (34:05):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon.
Why from the Fox Sports Radio Studios.
Speaker 10 (34:13):
Jason, you know what we have above LeVar ball?
Speaker 4 (34:14):
Now what stop? Come on, stop man, stop. No, that's wrong,
that's wrong. Stop that's wrong. That's wrong. That's wrong.
Speaker 10 (34:25):
I just think that's closer to figuring it out.
Speaker 1 (34:27):
Moving on, moving on, moving on, moving on, moving out
a hop, moving on, moving on, moving on, moving on.
Speaker 4 (34:35):
We're moving on.
Speaker 10 (34:35):
Can you electric slide over?
Speaker 4 (34:37):
We're moving on, We're moving on. We're done, we're done.
Speaker 3 (34:40):
We moved to the left.
Speaker 4 (34:41):
We're done. We're done.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Move to the right.
Speaker 10 (34:43):
This gets a discount on Baller brand shoes.
Speaker 4 (34:45):
So we you're moving on, moving on, moving on, moving on,
moving on.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
So tonight in college basketball, we saw what is likely
going to be the trend, the trend in college basketball
between now and the end of the year.
Speaker 3 (35:02):
Right, I think you're gonna say college football.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
No, no, no, no, it would be well, we'd need
a lot of points for that to happen in in
college not saying it couldn't. It could happen with Miami
and Syracuse tomorrow, but we need you need a lot
of points for it to happen in college football.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
College basketball.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
Here we are, and now that this what I'm gonna
tell you about has hit the mainstream even bigger than
it was before. Here's your big trend. This is what
you're gonna see on Saturdays and Tuesdays and Thursdays. This
is from tonight's Evansville game. Yes, the Purple Aces Way Evansville. Yes,
what did think they score one hundred and fifty points? No,
(35:39):
they did not, but they scored a very specific number
of points which made their fans extremely excited. Now adults
are gonna some are gonna love it, some are gonna
absolutely hate it.
Speaker 4 (35:51):
You will hear why right now?
Speaker 1 (35:53):
Angst building in the crowd, hunay three yes, and the fall.
Speaker 4 (36:02):
And these kids are.
Speaker 1 (36:03):
Going nuts over something I know nothing about, and that's okay.
Speaker 4 (36:07):
They want the six to seven score on the board.
It's there because of that.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Free Pryce Quinnett encouraging it with the motion.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
The kids are going crazy.
Speaker 7 (36:19):
And if you see, if you see those fans, oh,
six seven seven, that will be a meme. I guarantee
ESPN will be playing that those time.
Speaker 4 (36:31):
Six seven six seven six seven six seven.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
The dictionary dot com official word of the year.
Speaker 4 (36:38):
Everybody's going nuts.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
The fans are doing the six seven because they got
to sixty seven points.
Speaker 4 (36:43):
And that's that's why he said. The tension is building.
Speaker 1 (36:45):
Either we're going to hit a three or we need
a two and one free throw because we can't go
from sixty six to sixty eight. We got to get
to sixty seven. And I have a sneaking suspicion that
in every single game possible, when the home team gets
to sixty seven points, you're gonna get some sort of
crazy ass six to seven celebration somebody. Even if the
visiting team gets sixty seven points, you bay get a big,
(37:08):
crazy ass celebration.
Speaker 5 (37:09):
Yeah, you never had, You never can't tell though, it's
gonna set people off. And you know, I don't want
to be known as the no fun guy. Do I
understand the love of it?
Speaker 3 (37:18):
No, I don't.
Speaker 5 (37:19):
But look, I celebrate people that get up to six
seven in their their height. There are certain advantages to life,
picking stuff off shelves.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Being one of the most prominent, but it's it's one.
Speaker 5 (37:32):
Of those that if it gets the kids excited and
everybody's just having good old clean, good fashioned American fun,
we're all we're all good.
Speaker 1 (37:41):
Yeah, I'm telling you, man, six seven it's been, it's
gone from Okay, I don't understand what six seven is right,
And six seven was this thing that started with a
rap song a bunch of months ago, and when the
kids say six seven, it started out meaning it doesn't
really mean anything, like how do you feel about going
to get pizza for dinner? As six seven and you
(38:03):
do the thing with your hand, sixty seven doesn't matter.
Speaker 4 (38:05):
I could eat pizza. I could not eat pizza like
six seven doesn't.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
And then it did some which is a lie because
you're always gonna eat pizza.
Speaker 4 (38:11):
Oh yeah, yeah, I would say, hey, how would you
feel about chicken?
Speaker 9 (38:14):
Ah?
Speaker 4 (38:14):
Six seven? Six seven?
Speaker 1 (38:16):
So that's where it started, but now it's gotten to
a point because adults have been crazed about it that now,
just the mention of the numbers six seven start this
this explosion of yelling and screaming and different stuff. Anytime
someone like my daughter tells me, anytime someone says six
in the classroom, like if your math whatever, it's six,
(38:36):
someone says seven, and people go six seven, six seven,
Like all you need to do is just say the
numbers now, and it's like it's taken on its own life.
It's like a it's like an athlete who was famous
for doing what they do on the field of play,
but then they get so incredibly famous they're a celebrity,
which means you're famous for being you, Like Tiger Woods
(38:57):
went from being the most popular athlete in the world
to being a celebrity because eventually he became famous just
because he's Tiger Woods. Like six seven has gone from well,
this is the meaning of it too. Now it's just
six seven. It doesn't matter. It exists, and it's everywhere
and and and it's now it's its own thing.
Speaker 4 (39:13):
It's a celebrity.
Speaker 5 (39:14):
Number six seven ubiquitous, you see, you know, and that's
the thing right. It started off with almost a year
ago at this point, and now it's white hot once again.
I thought it was starting to die out.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
I did.
Speaker 5 (39:27):
I thought it was done because, you know, as soon
as my kids say it, you know, like when sus
or is calling something fire like, you know, as soon
as the adults latch onto it, normally that means it's
it's jumped the shark.
Speaker 4 (39:40):
Yeah yeah, yeah. What Once the adults start like, it
means the kids are done with it.
Speaker 5 (39:45):
But the adults are onto it, It's like, damn it,
it's over now.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
I don't I don't think adults like it, so I
think the kids are gonna stick around with it.
Speaker 4 (39:53):
It upsets a lot of adults. Let's keep doing this,
let's keep going.
Speaker 5 (39:56):
Well, people are just generally angry and they need to
get over themselves.
Speaker 3 (40:01):
How's that for a statement of fact?
Speaker 1 (40:03):
Exit out abouta Fresca exit swollen Down the Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, we take a
look at three of the biggest games in the NFL
this weekend.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
Coming up next, this is Fox
