Jason and Mike recap Thursday Night Football and think Bill Belichick and the Patriots should probably pursue a quarterback like Kyler Murray or even Russell Wilson to revamp his career. Every US fan should be excited since the national team hasn’t lost yet and Jason has a ‘Miracle on Ice’ feeling. Plus, the guys pay tribute to Hall of Fame pitcher Gaylord Perry.

(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio Fox Sports Radio. Hello,
Welcome inside our three of The Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon. Hey, you live from the
tire erect dot Com studios tirect dot com. We'll help
you get there and unmatched selection, fast free shipping, free

(00:44):
road hazard protection and over ten thousand recommended installers tirect
dot com, the way tire buying should be, and many
things we're gonna get to in the NFL over the
next two hours of the show. But in the first
half of the show, I think the thing I was
I was surprised about the most. That shocked me the most,
the biggest hot take. Harmon doesn't order food. You do

(01:06):
not order food to be delivered. You do not order
food for You're the only person in America that doesn't
order food to be delivered. Well, yeah, it's it's been
a long time. I can be honest with you, Like,
I think we had a local type place that every
once in a while, in a in a time crunch
getting to and from, you know, practices, rehearsals, Dennis appointments,

(01:29):
whatever I might, I might order it hoping they'd meet
me as we drove up, but in general, no, I'll
go get it. And I remember at one point thinking
I was going through a local Indian restaurant in my
neighborhood's website that it actually became an order for one

(01:50):
of these companies. They lost thirty five of their sale
in fees even though I showed up to pick it
up because I didn't realize i'd clicked through and wasn't
ordering off their site. So that that kind of opened
the eyes. Now, philosophically, I cook most meals. Anyway you
would know it from looking at me, but but I do.

(02:13):
And you know, when we go out, it does become
a all right, what's the the indulgence for the night.
But yeah, ordering in now just not something philosophically that
we've done. Wow, I can't believe that. And again, going
to those thirty third party delivery services and for everybody
that's out there hustling doing them, I got nothing against you, right,

(02:36):
it's it's the percentage for that local mom and pop,
especially during COVID when it was, hey, we're trying to
help these folks out. And that's where, you know, the
eyes kind of got open when I made that mistake
going through the portal uh and ordering evidently being Reaganism.
I got some free wine out of the deal. It's cool,
but yeah, and one of the guys in the kitchen
listened to the show, so he's a fan, which is good.

(02:58):
But it's just the idea of yeah, we we cook.
Sorry now speaking of cooking, because because you know this, this,
this is what I think. James cook This is my
whole play. No, no, no no, hey, dude, I love James
cook Man. I've been waiting. Look, you know I told
you when I said we're gonna draft him in Dynasty.
I love James cook He's gonna take off, might not

(03:19):
be this year. I've been waiting for a long time
like this. But speaking of cooking, right, let me throw
this out to you. We talked last hour. Look, Mac
Jones was just he's just a guy, right, we will.
You watched the page. He's mad. I get it. He's
mad because well he sees that how much longer am
I really going to be a starter in the NFL.
There's already talked that Brady's gonna come back. I mean,

(03:42):
come on, mad uh. The Bills Patriots tonight. It was
not a result that people thought wasn't going to happen.
It was a very workman like win for the Bills.
Patriots got a touchdown early, but after that the Bills
kind of put their stamp on the game and they
never seem like they were in trouble. It was one
of those Hey, we're rolling out, we're gonna get a
couple of touchdowns, We're gonna get up. Your offense is

(04:04):
limited and we have a great defense, and you're not
getting back in this game. That's exactly what happened. The
Patriots know that, and and Belichick's gotta know after tonight,
we have to move on from mac Jones. At the
end of this year. We can We can't go forward
having the quarterback position holding us back. You give the
guy a year and a half, and you know what
kind of quarterback he is. He's a guy that is

(04:26):
just okay. He was just okay last year, and he's
worse this year. Year two he's not been nearly what
he was year one, and year one he was just okay.
He wasn't bad, right, he wasn't bad. But let me
throw this out there at you, because I threwout Lamar
Jackson and I throughout Kyler Murray as two players that
Bill Belichick will go get in this next offseason because

(04:48):
you have a couple of guys that are unhappy either
with their head coach, their situation, their team, and the
pages have a lot of draft picks and a lot
of money to spend. They could go after watch for
Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray. Belichick wants a dual threat quarterback.
It's what he's won. It's what he wanted right after
Tom Brader's Cam Newton. Why he's he's the best dual
threat quarterback we can get. Yeah, but he's thirty and

(05:10):
he's kind of done. It doesn't matter. I want Cam Newton.
Let me throw this out there when you talk about, hey,
maybe your problems can we can solve each other's problems?
Don't do it? Give me your percentage chance. Percentage chance
that Zach will okay, give me a percentage chance that

(05:31):
the Patriots quarterback next season is Russell Wilson. Oh no,
think about that, Think about the season. Think about the
season the Broncos or had just did for a second thing,
for something open minded. Pete Carroll is a really good coach, right,
been to a couple of Super Bowls. One one. He

(05:52):
was able to keep things good in Seattle even though
Russell Wilson was kind of the same guy right, the
same me first guy, uh rubbed some teammates the wrong way,
but Pete Carroll was able to cover this up. I
think that I would be confident that Bill Belichick can
do the same thing. He can hold Russell if he
held Tom Brady accountable for two decades, and the guy's

(06:12):
the best quarterback any of us have ever seen, I
think he could be okay with Russell Wilson in holding
him accountable. They can give the Broncos a butt load
of draft picks that the Broncos lost in giving everything
up for Russell Wilson. This season has been so much
of a disaster. Number one, they're gonna want to move on.

(06:36):
Head coaching wise, which is a different topic. We'll get
into But will they be so beaten down by what
this season was and not winning with Russell Wilson and
going three and fourteen whatever they wind up, whatever they
wind up doing. Hey, we're drafting high enough to get
Bryce Young. We're drafting high enough now we can get
will Look whoever it is, give me a percent. It's

(07:00):
a chance that the Patriots say, oh, you have problems,
we will take your problem. Take these draft picks, everything up,
start over again. Take all that money, go sign more.
You're gonna get healthy guys back. Javante Williams to come
back healthy. Maybe Tim Patrick comes back healthy. Jerry Judy
is either healthy or traded. But here's some draft picks. Here,
you go, you go, and we'll take Russell Wilson and

(07:23):
I'll make this guy work, just like they made it
work in Seattle. Percentage chance that it's Russell Wilson playing
quarterback for the Patriots next year to three very minimal.
I gonna start counting like like like like you were
Frances or Lebron for five. Look, man, Bill Belichick is

(07:45):
not stepping up and and going vanilla ice. He's not saying,
if you've got a problem, you'll I'll solve it. I
bringing Russell Wilson, he'd be more likely, uh to bend
down and kiss the feet of Tom Brady and ask
him and beg him to come back. Then that you
think we're gonna give up all sorts of capital, both
draft pick and financial to bring that guy in after

(08:06):
the last couple of years, No chance in now, Well,
it wouldn't be a ton of draft picks. It would
be draft picks because you're not gonna get players. It's
not gonna be Hey, we're gonna give you back. You
know the eight first round picks? You know how much
how much money is Denver eating in this process? No, no no, no,
no pay you gotta the Patriots take the money. No.
Then then then no chance of draft picks. No, you're

(08:27):
not You're not paying what That's one of the big
worst contracts we've ever seen. I said it when it
happened here. I said it. Now, you're gonna give that
guy forty million dollars unless the salary gap is going
up because the market's up and it's doze coin three
years ago, two years whatever the games made me, No, don't.

(08:48):
The salary gap would have to go to six hundred
million dollars if you're gonna try to bring that guy in,
no chance. You used to love doze coin. You love
does made my money and I got out. You love
dose goin. And I'm just trying to explain the utility
and the proposition to the whole thing. Doesn't mean I
had a large financial stake in anything. The point that

(09:13):
we're no, But I want to ask you talk about it,
but is it a bad contract or is it a
bad contract for this year? It's a bad contract all around,
pretty plus million dollars for this guy. See that I
disagree with because I look at the Broncos as next year.
If they keep Russell Wilson next year, things will be

(09:34):
better because they can't get any worse. He was already declining,
and he and nobody came to his birthday party and
nobody came. Half the team came. That's not nobody, that's
not people that matter didn't go. They were hip to it.
If you had a birthday party and you invited me
and Frostburg and Tye Shirt and to Sager and Tyshon

(09:56):
and Sager came, you can't say nobody came, that's half
the show came. You can't say nobody came. You can say, well,
Smith and Frostberg didn't come, but you know Ty Shirton
and Steve came. That's that's not you and Frostberg are nobody.
So nobody nobody. Now I'm not going now an even
want the invitation? See Eric, Yeah, yeah, you know Sie,

(10:17):
Eric got beat it. I don't want to come to
your party's Essentially, when half of the squaw said or
more coming, man, you just flirting with disaster by bringing
up fun Rucker. You take that chucky cheese party and
you've dead. You stick it. I'm not coming to that part.
Say fund Ruckers ten times fast. No, I'm not gonna

(10:37):
do that challenge. But is it because this is how
I look at it. For for the Bronk, I just
think he's a declining asset. He is. He's not the
same guy, but he's still a quarterback you can win with.
And he's still in a but he's still above average quarterback.
But you took a guy and you put him in
a system with the first time head coach that doesn't

(10:58):
know the first thing about trying to put all these
weapons together. You had established weapons in Denver, right, you
had established people and here comes the new head coach,
and it's really hard to do. This is why coaches
clear things out and bring in the players they want,
because it's hard to win over established players who have
been there, because the players feel I'm the team more
than you are. I've been here longer than you. So

(11:19):
you bring in Nathaniel Hackett? How did you think this
is gonna go? We both said it before the season,
this is not gonna be a good year for the Broncos.
It's gonna be a year or they take their loves.
But in the off season when they realize, oh, we
can't have Nathaniel Hackett. You realize week one Nathaniel Hackett
wasn't up to the job. When they get to the
off season and they make a trade for Sean Payton,

(11:40):
or they bring in a CEO type head coach who
has run things before and can keep a player in line,
like a Dan Quinn with a hot shot offensive coordinator.
When you can bring in a CEO type head coaches, Okay, listen,
we're all getting on the same page. And I know
how to deal with Russ and know how to deal
with the rest of the team, So we're all one
big unit, right maybe I call Pete Carol and say, Pete,

(12:02):
what did you do? Man? Everybody nobody could stand the
guy and he couldn't. How did you figure this out?
Pete Carroll figured it out? God Carol, turn the music
up and tell him to beat it. Maybe that's how
you hear it out, just turn just turning music out.
But you need a head coach that's done that, that
has the buying right. We talked about Kyler Murray and
and Lamar Jackson if they went to New England would
have the buy in because it's Bill Belichick and it's

(12:22):
an offensive system that you know, we're gonna get Josh.
We're not gonna do this crazy ast thing with Matt
Patricia being the O C again when he was at DC.
We're not gonna do that. We're gonna hire Daniel. But
you bring it, but you bring out they' getting Josh
McDaniels back. He's not gonna make it anymore. Bassis here,
come on. But you go next year, and that's a
different situation in Denver. And you've also been able to

(12:42):
watch the entire year ahead and go, okay, this is
where they went wrong offensively. This was the pieces that
didn't work. This was the system that didn't work. This
was a scheme that didn't work. Now, let's tailor things
a little bit more around what rust does best, and
let's tailor the personnel around what our quarterback does best.
Things will be better in Denver next year because it's
gonna be a new regime. It's gonna be a fresh

(13:03):
new start. It will be a fresh start, and will
be a head coach who's in much more of much
more control of the team and not Nathaniel Hackett, who
was a guy that when you hear him speak right now,
don't you think did did he have to ask to speak?
Did you have to say, hey, can I talk to
the media today? Like that? That's how I feel when
when I when I look at a coach and go
he's got control over the team? Does he seem like

(13:24):
someone that had to go to the organization and say
can I speak at the press conference today? If that's
your guy, you're not in control. And that's how I
see Nathaniel Hackett, right, he's that guy. Can I speak?
Can I say something? If you need me to say something,
I will, Or when you are the fifth or seventh
person people go to for a quote, Yeah, you're not.
You're not in charge of the organization. You're not the
guy they want. So things will get better there in

(13:45):
Dend for next year. Which is why things would be
better for for Russell Wilson in New England because it's
a different it's a different situation and a strong head coach.
But but if you have that in Denver next year,
there's no reason why it can't be a good year
for the person. They already have a great defense, and
I feel awful for the defense because they've been played
at a super bowl level all season long and the
offense just keeps letting them down. Game after game after game.

(14:08):
You got guys that are playing three plays a game
on defense yelling at Russell Wilson. I know next year
you get a clean slate and offseason that kind of
head coach, it can work. Yeah, real quick. I would
just say to this, UH number one, you gotta go
find a coach that wants to work with Russell Wilson.
Clearly Pete Carroll UH and the rest of that staff
didn't want to anymore. Right, they had had the butting

(14:30):
in the heads, and you go through I think missing
Tim Patrick. I think he was the glue guy to
what that offense was able to do. So him getting
hurt was actually got a big deal. Oh and you
kept trusting Melvin Gordon with the football long after he
proved that was a bad idea, that that was a
bad idea. Coaching, well, but a bad coaching. But also
the fact that Russell Wilson, you're veteran quarterback, You're you're

(14:52):
gonna opt down into another play and you're gonna go
over and you're gonna lay into your head coach making
forty five million dollars. They brought you in to be
the savior. Lead, be a leader. Don't tell me you're
a leader. Go be a leader and pre snap penalties.
You can blame the coaching staff all you want. Again,
it goes to your field general. I'm out on him.
Bill Belichick shouldn't walk across the field to shake his

(15:14):
hand to say Hi, you want to hear about our
new England program. Let alone actually bring him in the building. Wow,
I wouldn't walk across the street. Let me give you
a brochure. Here's a brochure. You follow this right here.
He gets that because now you're leading them on Twitter
and out about a Fresca, Mike gets swollen dome. The

weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox
Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio. App Apparently we're
allowed to play Christmas music now. I think we've hit
that time, like ch Well, I did. I did hear
a big discussion about him from our friends, uh Petros

(16:19):
Papadakis and Matt money Smith driving around a little bit earlier.
They were wondering if the edict did come down and
what they should be doing, which holiday songs? How far
could they go on the range of holiday song it's
not happening. I thought it was pretty fine. Like so,
if we were to play this version, would that be okay,

(16:41):
Holiday Holiday, Holiday, holiday songs, Holiday Holiday, it's been canceled
Holiday nothing that Okay, Phil Dunfie, Christmas has been canceled.
It's not been canceled. The Hell's Phil Dumpy Phil dunfi
is from that episode was on the other day, wasn't
on with Christmas being canceled. They had the entire episode
of what Modern Family and the whole run of their

(17:01):
holiday Holiday Holiday Holiday. How you don't watch Modern Family?
Harmon doesn't order for you. I know, I know who
Al Bundy is. Everybody loves Julie Bowen. You want to,
you want to, you want to go to Al Bundyed
O'Neil story, I may or may not have been in
a fantasy league and and beat Al Bundy in the

(17:22):
championship like five years and the real Al Bundy, Yeah,
like Ed O'Neil, like the guy who puts his hand
in his pants. But yeah, like I was, okay, the
actor who plays it like I was in the league.
What do you mean, actor? They know this is not
just as a real character. This is he's not a
real person. I thought it was a documentary. Uh is it?
I was in a fantasy league about maybe it was

(17:44):
long maybe maybe about eight or nine years ago, and
it was kind of an industry league, and there was
a mystery team that was rumored that it was that
it was Ed O'Neil's team, and I'm like, go on
to playing that team in the championship. But I never
found out if that was if it was his team
or not. I never found out. There was a rule. Oh,
I think it's I think it's how do we not know?

(18:04):
Who do you send the email to? Does the email
go to E O'Neil at aol dot com? Where where
does the emails go to the did you email Buck
the Dog? What's what's the uh? What's the avatar atom?
Is it so Fear Vigara or is it Big Bundy? Who?
Who's the avatar? You kind of know? No, I don't know.
I don't know. So apparently he was like running it
through someone else or somewhere, But I never found out

(18:28):
if Ed O'Neill was the guy. Well, you know, we
can find out for you. You know this, right? How
can we find out? You know that Peg knits with Abby? Yes,
that's right, So we can figure this out for you.
That's right? All alright? Very good? Yes, fine, find that out.
Find that out. Hey, remember when you worked with him? Oh,

(18:50):
I haven't talked to him in years. Listen. Did he
do a fantasy league a few years ago where he
kind of kept his identity a secret and nobody knew?
Did he really hate Marcy? The battles with Amanda Beers?
You go, why why did? Why did? Why did Steve
get replaced? I don't understand. I like Steve. He s

(19:13):
the best. Then then Ted McGinley showed up. Yeah, you
can't really do no ma'am anymore. Uh you know, no, no,
ma'am is tough. You know, No ma'am is tough. It is.
But so if you can find that out, that that
would be awesome. I mean you fight, that would be fair.
And do you have a link back? Did Julie Bowen?
Let me know? Okay, So if Katie Seagal kady, I mean,

(19:35):
that's that's the boy, that would be great that mom
it is Actually they're married, Steve Steven Seagal and Katie
Seagal are married. No they're not. She's with Kurt Sutter.
But I okay, I just read, but you know that
that should be a podcast abby, And and Katie said
that should be up. It should be a knitting You
hear the clackety clackety clack of the knitting and the
knitting needles, and they're just talking about stuff. That's a podcast.

(19:56):
I've never heard of clicky clock. But yeah, yeah, well,
well knitting clippity cloth, clippity cloth. Look at my hoofs
the clickity clack click. There's no clicking clock, dude. They
make their incredible blankets and sweaters and whatever the hell
they do. Yeah, but it's it's and a drink wine
West wait, wait to Frostberg finds out Abby's never gone

(20:18):
to one knitting session. She just goes out with a
bunch of friends. Dude, I've seen peg Bundy multiple times.
She's going hanging out with Katie Segal. Okay, then that's
pretty cool. Yeah, it's happening, dude, your wife parties with
peg Bundy. I wouldn't call knitting partying, but sure, you
know it's it's a pastime. It's a cathartic thing. It's

(20:41):
a group activity where you get through some of the
ills of the weekend camaraderie. What are you working on?
What are you building? What? I guess our definitions partying
are just different. Everybody's got a different definition. Everybody. Hey,
I know what what one of one of our friends,
a big fry a night for her would be balancing

(21:01):
her check book, whereas you guys had me the other
day running out the door yelling why not usin us?
What do you do Friday? What did you last night?
It was a big night. I was very happy, you know,
I needed some time to myself, so I balanced a
check book. Yes, and get such a satisfaction from it,
Like that's like a big Friday night. You know what
you should get her for Christmas? What's that? Oh? You

(21:26):
mean life with Martin Lawrence? Wow? Wow, So knitting is
above balancing a check just we know for Frostburg in
the in the pantheon of things, Well, I mean you
get a nice blanket to cozy up with. Alright, alright, alright, yeah,

(21:46):
we're still a half hour away from safe hour. You
can say that it's a Mets fan Friday night half
Any first responder will tell you never try to beat
a train after breaking It could take a mile for
a train to completely stop. So when you come to
a rail crossing stop because trains can't uh. The world
of sports, we lost an absolute legend today. And when

(22:08):
when whenever something like this unfortunately happens, I think about
my experiences, you know, with this person, what I felt
like being a fan growing up and seeing them. Uh.
Gay Lord Perry passed away at the age of eighty four.
MLB Hall of Famer, who was most famous for throwing
a spitball, a pitch that he said, yes, I absolutely

(22:28):
threw it. Then he says he kind of stopped throwing
it and would only pretend to throw it to get
in the batter's heads. And you know, everybody's heard the
stories of gay Lord Perry, and that's what he was.
He was, as he said, it was the eleventh pitcher
of an eleven man staff with the Giants, and someone
taught me the spit ball, so I started throwing it.
Then it got outlawed, and then he tried to go

(22:50):
to like petroleum jelly and would put stuff on his
on his jersey and to try to get the ball
to move, and and it was insane, and he would
have people charging out of the batter's box saying you're
doctoring the ball, and and the umpires would never find out.
One time he was found of have doctored the ball
in his his entire career. And what I tell you,
what I missed the most is gay Lord Perry. The

(23:12):
end of his career was when I was first getting
into baseball. So what did I know about gay Lord Perry?
He was like, oh, he throws a spitball. He throws
a spitball. But just think about that now. I wish
I was old enough to appreciate all the theater that
he went through in his career. Can you imagine? Now
here comes a picture right who who is? You know?

(23:33):
A young guy coming up and he starts throwing in
a legal pitch and people know it's an a legal
pitch and they banned the pitch. And then he looks
for another way to throw a pitch and he admits
that he did throw it a legal pitch. And he
now he makes it look like he's throwing in a
legal pitch because he's rubbing his hand on his jersey,
because he's getting into the batter's head going, oh, he's
looking at it. He just rubbed his hand on. You

(23:54):
go touch his jersey. That's gonna be a slimy spots.
He's gonna make that ball move. I can't imagine how
much fun gay Lord Perry would be if he was
pitching now, he would I mean every time he would pitch,
we would stop. We would stop and say, what's going
to happen? Right Like we have certain pictures now when
they're out there that we stopped. Whatever Jacob Degrahm does, Hey,

(24:14):
we have to stop. What's going on with him? Kershaw
Steven Strasburg when he was in his run as a
young fireball and he was the next great pitcher. Every
five days we stopped. We would stop every gay Lord
Perry is pitching, Let's see what he's doing. Is he
going to the to the jersey? Is he grabbing? Does
he have petroleum jelly on his belt buckle? Does he
have it here? There will be all kinds of stuff

(24:35):
on social media. He would be someone who wouldn't shy
away from it. If you think I'm throwing it, I'm
throwing it. He wouldn't be someone going, I am not cheating.
No spider tack for me, No, no, no. Really, his career,
if we had it now, or if I was young
enough to really appreciate it, man, that would have been
something because he would have been a whole lot of
fun if he was playing now. Yeah, a couple of things.
First off, he's three win when you do the research

(24:59):
and go back in do it, because I really my
brothers and I were going back and forth on his
passing earlier today. Uh, that was the first he did
that night. Two. Uh, that was the first guy to
get the three wins in twenty years when early Win
former White Sox and Indians as they were called time

(25:20):
Hurler did so. And then he was in the Pine
Card game. He was the guy that stole the bat
and tried to hide it. So that's good. Get the
bat boy involved and you can have story time there.
But my brothers and I were kind of going back
in the the idea of any four years old he
passes away today. We got to watch him pitch live
for several years going to Comiskey Park, Right, did you

(25:43):
just kind of put ourselves into the timeline because oftentimes
you age yourself and you don't age the world around you,
or at least I found that. It's like that guy's
twenty eight. Come on, I remember me. He was a
kid actor on this Like, okay, yeah, I guess he
gets older too. Uh. And then you look in the
mirror see a couple more wrinkles, realized, Wow, how old
you've become. But when in this game is like, yeah,

(26:04):
I remember going to see him pitch and and everybody
was screaming stuff at him. As you're talking about now,
the appreciation of is he doing something or is he
actually just trying to get the competitive psychological advantage and
all of those things, but just that reminder of the
appreciation game, I think with some of these hurlers. I
saw the news when Ferguson Jenkins tweeted it out a

(26:28):
picture of him at one of the reunions and Cooper's
and you know it just thinking about how long you've
been watching baseball and some of these names, I mean,
how long he's been retired. Nice long life after baseball
and an ambassador for the game and a guy who
had was filled with a lot of stories. I remember

(26:48):
the lines of people just standing around and autograph signings
there at the ton of cliff in uh and those
places in Cooper's down during induction week because they were
they were holding court with some of stuff they tried
to pull. And you think today's I mean today's it's
out of a bottle and you know what you can
get in a lab. Back then it was what's in
the cupboard that we might be able to do something

(27:10):
cool with the baseball, which is pretty cool. So a
legacy of gay Lord Perry uh celebrated today. Be sure
to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with
Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio ap

(27:31):
Friend Mike Harmon, Shark or something that's another holiday classic
live from the tire rack dot Com studios. Any first
responder will tell you never try to beat a train
after breaking It could take a mile for a train
to completely stop. So when you come to a rail
crossing stop because trains, maybe it's a Micribb in the bag.

(27:52):
If it was a big see, it's better Big Mac
because then at least you make me think of something
I want to eat. I don't know you love Mick?
Who do you do? You love my ribs more than
more than you love Christmas? No? Listen, Oh I love Christmas?
Did I love Christmas more? I get presents at Christmas?
I give presidents to Uh, we'll put big Mac oh

(28:13):
mcribb no, no, no, no, mcribbs. I can I tell
you I can give her take mcribs. I will say
that today we celebrated the short ribbed fried rice. I
think it was celebration. Yeah, we'll just leave it out
that not a sponsor. But yeah, fire right, Look I'm
not giving any names. Nobody's uh you know, they want
to sponsor the show and get on board, that's all

(28:35):
all their prerogative. But it was delicious. They gotta pay up,
let's go. So this is something that's gonna be a
little mawkish and maudlin and hokey. But another day in
the World Cup where you saw the best team struggle, right,
Germany is out, Japan spends Japan. Is it's tisher, It's

(28:56):
very excited Japan. Is it illegal? I mean it was
over the line and hit the ground and somehow until
they are they said, hey Japan, it's a goal for Japan. Uh,
Spain had trouble. All the big teams are in trouble. Now.
Can't do the Japan thing real quick because because every
time they've gone to v a R or so it

(29:18):
seemed throughout this tournament it was overturned. This one it
was uh, nope, call on the field stands. I was
waiting for the full explanation of it on the field.
He was on the bus. Thought it was kind of
surprising because every time they'd gone to v air, it's like,
all right, it's getting overturned. No, they left it stand
and chaos and so so Germany's out nearly was knocked

(29:41):
out today. All the big teams have had trouble and
so what we said last night, if you're the U
S m NT, but if you're any team in the
knockout stage, it's you are saying to each other, why
not us? Right, this is a World Cup where all
the big teams that are still in it are flawed.
You're not afraid of anybody. Whether this is the top
teams aren't as good, or the floor has come up

(30:04):
where the bottom teams qualifying have all gotten better to
to to the point where they're giving trouble to to
the better teams. This is a wide open World Cup
and you have to say why not us? Because the
World Cup is different from other tournaments where yes, you
can feel like, all right, we're gonna be great, but
then we're gonna get to a point where we're gonna
lose to Brazil, We're gonna lose to Germany, We're gonna
lose to France. Were these teams are too good? No, no, no,

(30:26):
there's nobody like that. You can you can win the
World Cup. Have that have that ability to be able
to say that to each other? Why not us? And
to get a little bit hokey with things a little bit.
I kind of get a little bit of a miracle
on ice vibe from Team USA in their situation in

(30:46):
the World Cup right now, right like it's about time
for another one, right, I mean, it's the biggest purely
sports story of my lifetime, and it was forty years ago.
We're gonna see something like that again. And I'm kind
of getting the twinkle of it out because again, here's
a World Cup where anybody can win. The United States
has had big moments already, the Christian polistic goal and

(31:07):
getting hurt and celebrating with the team and everybody going
nuts and everybody watching this game in school and everywhere
else during the day. I'm kind of getting that miracle
on ice vibe. In the next couple of weeks. They're
gonna keep winning, We're gonna keep learning about the players
to the point where every day you wake up and go, boy,
is Western McKinney really as good as everybody says he is?
Why is he so disappointing? This is the kind of

(31:28):
I know it feels, it feels hokey and Maudelin and
all of this. Yes, but I kind of get that
miracle on ice vibe from Team USA this tournament right now.
I feel like, I gotta be honest with you, very
exciting to go to Florida in a couple of weeks
and get go to Wahawaya. I would even talk like
this in Florida for wahwah are you come in here?

(31:49):
You want to go see the Dolphins? Hey we got
two or two is terrific player, he's a star. Do
they do it? And they do. We talk like this
in Miami and in Delaware and Philadelphia, and we did
everywhere we go through that wall. You have to talk
like that. But there is one right down the street
from uh, well where I'm gonna be staying in in
the Great Orlando area. Uh but yeah, no, you you

(32:11):
said hokey and and look I'll get into it. I
I like feel good stories and excitement, probability and maybe
al Michael's can get excitable like he did all those
years ago. I don't necessarily see that on Thursday Night
Football normally mocking things. But here here's a situation whereby
you've got a number of the top rated squads in

(32:32):
the globe that have been knocked out, and we've seen
a lot of craziness. Going back to the play with Japan,
I think everybody that watched it live was like, no,
that doesn't count unless you were rooting for Japan, and
then you're like no, no, no, back in like you
had the magic die at the craps table on on
your favorite TV show or movie. But yeah, well let's

(32:54):
get a little nuts, and it would be the greatest
thing because if if they advanced and beat Netherlands and
Argentina advances, then you can start make sure that contract
is signed from Messi to come over to the MLS.
So it goes nuts that way too, so he can
start advertising. Gotta play our best game miracle on ice.
Get ready, hope the Netherlands is hope your Netherlands is

(33:17):
ready tight sho they're gonna get clapped by them. Coming
up next, got a big story coming off at TNF
from the tirect, dot com studios, dot clap,
