to redo that open because that is national champion Syracuse
Jason Smith with the missed like grain drop takes national
champion because Syracuse one a bleep in national championship to
you've got the ship national championship. People say to me
(01:05):
all the time, what does it feel like when a
national champion because you went to serious like well, you know,
let me tell you, no, no, no, I don't need
to tell anybody anytime anymore in my car. But I
can just say, oh, national Championship. This is what it
sounds like. It's going to go all the way through
for should be okay, all lifestyle on the referee. It's official.
Fret Morocco, feel the Father. Victory for Morocco, a milestone
(01:36):
for Africa. Portugal bout Morocco. Hum for the first time,
there will be an African team in the semifinals. Coul Oh, no,
I'm sorry that that's I know you have Morocco in
our World Cup. Sorry. With Syracuse winning the National Championship
in soccer tonight, they replace Morocco against France in the
(01:57):
World Cup. So it's now France versus Syracuse. You guys
should take the worst spots. Whoa France and Syracuse get
that dumpster fire and going there. Man, that was hot
Bob Ay versus Syracuse. Let's see. Yeah, here's the one
thing I will say, Uh, it comes down to penalties
for Syracuse in Indiana. My idea last week of the
(02:20):
starting five of the seven n c A title game
between Syracuse Indiana, taking the penalties in the end did
not come to fruition. But it comes down to the
seventh round of penalties after an Indiana miss, Syracuse had
a chance to win a national title and sucker and
head to the World Cup to recap due It was
unthinkable months ago the first time it prograd history, forgotten
(02:46):
about what behind twelve transfers from all of the country,
up stair names in history and never be forgotten again.
It a ESPN you on the call. He never says
who wins. It's Syracuse sp We we know there's a
lot of transfers, right but wait, wait, but in the middle,
it sounded like you have that water splash sound effect
(03:07):
that you normally play that Yeah, okay, play that. Play
that call again and tell me midway through it doesn't
sound like Tight Shirt playing his his waters player sound effecting. Again.
Do what was unthinkable months ago the first times right there,
(03:30):
left for dead, forgotten transfers, all of that stuff, role Syracuse.
Here's the one thing, though, I think about winning the
College Cup, and you know when you say the phrase
college Cup, I just think of a red Solo Cup. Well,
they read solop receptacle. It's the official Cup of College,
the Red Solo Cup, half Red Solo Cup. You're you're
(03:56):
my friend, that is that is the official cup of college.
I'm I'm Jason Smith. Red Solo cups. When's the last
time you were a frat party trying to play beer
pong and you said Solo cups? Who was supposed to
get the Solo cups? And you didn't have well? With
my new invention, I can make a red sol look
up for you and under eight seconds red Solo cup,
the branded Solo cups. I you know, I did have
(04:20):
a thing from a while for the other the alternate
colored Solo cups. After a bit, as long as they
were proper branded cups. They're not paying me, so I'm
gonna stop saying their name. But because the others were thinner,
what I mean, because it look It's like even when
you go buy a can of beer right now, some
of them are so waff for thin that you fear
(04:41):
if you put it down on a table, it might
be enough to burst. Do weight Do you walk into
a liquor store to buy a can of beer? You
go into here, the one of those guys, Hey can
I don't really buy you buy a lot right now?
I'm not drinking a time like not like I'm gonna
go buy a beer for dollar seventy fo What if
all you want is one and you know if you
(05:02):
have six around, you'll drink all six. Sometimes it's about rationing.
I can't be like I get a Cannison detecting yourself. Well,
if you're gonna buy a Canda Sota, why not the
same thing. I just gonna have a kid. Well, because
I could walk out of the store and drink a
soda in public. I mean, you know it's open container law.
You learn about that very early, when you know when
you go to college, the Red Solo Cup beers well
(05:22):
when it's why the Red Solo Cup comes into playing,
although you should probably use a different receptacle because people
would know what's going on with your Solo cup. We
can talk about how complicated other banks make it to
redem credit card rewards, or we could talk about how
with Discovery you can redeem your rewards for cashing any
amount at any time. I mean, talk about amazing learn
more discovered dot com slash redeem rewards. That's discovered dot
(05:44):
Com Slash redeem rewards terms. They do apply. And it's
funny because you mention your guy Carmelo Anthony right now,
the children of Carmelo Anthony and Lebron James are playing
high school battle. That's a big one. I'm knt I.
I heard saw the helicopter before. I said, it's got
to be over the game. It's got of a big deal. Yeah,
(06:05):
Carmelo Anthony. But it makes me feel real old, yeah,
because I remember working here when they were going to
get drafted. It's like, you not take car really terrible
interview with Carmelo Anthony during all of that, dude, I
interviewed him. I had a right before the draft, I
had a five and a half minute interview with Carmelo Anthony.
It was five minutes and thirty six seconds. I spoke
(06:28):
for five minutes and seventeen seconds of the interview. And
because I had so many It was right after won
the National Championship, right after decided to go to the
to the NBA. And I would say hey, and I
a question would be like, hey, so, uh, how excited
are you? You know, it was a difficult decision to
to leave Syracuse to go to the NBA. It was tough. Okay,
(06:50):
so what do you expect to what did did did
coach talk to you? What did Jim Bay I'm tell
you after you uh, you know, when you major decision.
I wished me, and he wished me. Look okay, And
now I'm like, okay, this is what am I gonna
do here? And then after five and a half minute,
after five and a half minute out in the middle
(07:11):
of the night, after you know, consumed things from a
red and solo, what are you looking to eat? He like,
I don't know if he hung up just because he
didn't feel like doing the interview anymore. But I'm like,
this is gonna be the worst interview ever because he
literally said nothing, and it's your guy doubting Yeah. I said, hey,
Jason Smith, class of ninety two, Mellow, how you doing good? Alright? Alright,
(07:35):
so now that Syracuse thing doesn't work anymore? And then
something happened and he lost his like we lost connection.
He hung up and I go, hello, Mellow, he's still there,
wasn't there. Tried to call him back, didn't pick up.
He's like, yeah, I'm just done. I'm not doing this
interview anymore. I was there finishing five minutes and seventeen
seconds of a five minute and thirty six seconds. You
know what to think about that story? Think about that
(07:57):
for a second. I spoke for five because he had
no out. Now I'm setting up other stories, but hey,
there's potential that the Pistons could take you number two.
You could fall, you could go to the Denver Nuggets. Uh.
Do you have any any specifics or teams you would
rather see draft you or not? No? All right, So
it's like the ratio of for every second he spoke,
(08:20):
I spoke for like twelve seconds. It's terrible. Start to
ask him about a favorite movie? Awful. Do you have
any favorite movies? Yeah? I mean that's what it would
have been. Wow, But that's you said. It can't be
a yes, No, what's your favorite movie? Big? You know
that scene in f A. O. Schwartz You ever try
to recreate that it was? It was bad, But it
(08:44):
doesn't matter because series one the it's the first. I
mean remember that time he was stuck behind Robert Logan
and the upport Carmelo and it just goes, oh, oh
my god, it's Robert Logan. Uh. This is the first
national championship really that I can say. We had, well,
we want we won a couple of lacrosse ones, but
this is a big deals. The lacrosse one D one
(09:07):
National Championship in soccer man. This is exciting. I was
listening on the way and my wife had had her
cell phone up against the uh the television, so I
could listen to it on the way in. It was outstanding.
It was outstanding. It was so exciting. You know, I
want to find other wins for your Syracuse. Not a lot,
there's not a lot. We know the national title in
(09:28):
two thousand three that I want to say, we had
two more, two more in lacrosse and now this there
you go, this point that people pay attention to in college.
You know, it's soccer. And now we get to play
in the World Cup. Now Syracuse in the World Cup,
Syracuse in the Cup. Across country they won the a
(09:50):
c C Championship. I think I have I think a
men's cross country two. Yeah, I got more Pinstripe Bowl
gear than I I mean, the fact that their coaches,
Ian McIntyre is pretty good. Well, we're the official team
of the Pinstripe Ball. By the way, those jerseys, yeah,
I'm not a fan of the they look like that. Well,
(10:10):
first of all, they look like the rugby jerseys that
the students in the band whin. I'm like, I've only
got something a little bit different than than the band Jersey,
a little bit different. But sixteen now team national championships,
all right, they a basketball, two, cross country, ten lacrosse,
going all the man. That's three through two thousand nine.
(10:33):
This soccer, field hockey, women's field hockey, and boxing in
x Oh wow. You know, you know when I went there,
they didn't put up a lot of the boxing. I
didn't know that. This was when Jack Dempsey won the
national championship when he knocked out George Foreman, and then
they had seventeen others. There's some infractions, yeah, and some
(10:55):
things that come in and take stuff away. Usually what
they do is they win a championship and they take
a picture of the trophy, they hand it right back. Thanks, Hey,
I know you're taking But hey, the other thing that
I was, you know, gripping my ass off about tonight
because I was so nervous. Gripping it's word for stress.
I mean, I know what you ate maybe already was
gripping tonight. That's fast at so I got so so
(11:19):
I'm coming into work and I have the national championship
in soccer that I'm that I'm my wife's paying attention
to and in our guillotine league, in our in our
fantasy guillotine league, which is where everybody gets knocked out.
One actually do is not be the lowest point total.
This is the last week before we get to the finals,
and and you all got there's there's five teams left
(11:39):
and we go to four teams and the four teams
compete for the championship. And you had already been in,
already clinched in, and it was down to me and
another team. This is a big fantasy, this is a
big industry league. A lot a lot of deal Fabriana
was that he got knocked out like months Church and
our buddy and the Twin Cities, and so just to
just think think about how weird this is for a second.
So we're coming into this and I, you know, I
was able to get like an all our team last
(12:01):
week in free agency. I was like I picked Dalvin
Cook and and uh and Davonte Adams. It was so great.
I'm like, I'm gonna win. And I had a horrible week,
horrible week, and I'm like I'm gonna lose with this
bleep and all star team out there. Coming into tonight,
I had a one point lead and we each had
a player left, and I'm going, I'm just gonna stress
for this entirement, and I forgot no. I was going
to be an extra layer to the show. And I
(12:24):
had Romandre Stevenson and he had Kyler Murray. And Murray
gets hurt on the second play of the game. Stevenson
gets hurt on like the third play of the game.
He comes back and then he gets ruled out for
the rest of the game. And I'm like, this is
all the stress that I had going. And I'm going,
oh my god, because I wanted to make it to
(12:45):
the finals everything else, and so I was so happy
with how I built the team, and everything's going, I'm
gonna lose. I'm gonna and and and Kyler Murray's going
and then Murray gets hurt, Stevens gets hurt, and I go, oh,
this sucks, man. Yeah, yeah, I missed the stress. Would
I rather had the stress and have you know, healthy
players playing and competing and seeing how it would go,
because look, the Patriots ran the football at time. You know,
Stevenson would have had a lot of the carries tonight,
(13:06):
and instead they went to you know, the third, fourth, fifth,
six string running backs and uh, you knew Murray was
gonta able to put some points on the board. Least
you a lot with fifteen or sixteen fantasy points. But
it's over early because we're sitting there and it's Stevenson
and Murray and in a flash, it's that's it, that's it,
it's over. Well, even texted you on my way to
(13:26):
the studio tonight, I was like, all right, Monday night football.
Forget about the teams. Nobody cares about teams, about fantasy implications.
Right final week of the regular season for people playing
in our Guilla team league, I knew what was a
moto imoo of Stevenson and Murray. Murray third play scramp.
Now Stevenson gave it the old college try and came
(13:47):
back in him not being able to continue. Actually might
have gotten me in the playoffs in another league. I
need to check standings on that. But yeah, now it's
uh the final four. Look at this and that's a
three week thing. Now it's it's a huge it's a marathon.
But it's funny because last last year it was me
and one other in a play a couple of week playoff.
(14:09):
Now it's expanded to the final four. You had more
money to spend in free agency this last week after
an All Star team got eliminated because Lamar Jackson. Right,
So for me, I had already had to bid way
too much money to try to cobble together a functional
running back room. So we'll see how it plays. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show
(14:31):
with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.
Is that someone screaming? I thought it was a saxophone.
Wait on it. He's a pretty good sayer. What the
hell is this? Say? That's great angel? What last Christmas?
(14:56):
I visited Satan and the very next day, well, you know,
if you rearrange Santa is Satan. That was the final
uh final conflict. Hey, look, I like my Christmas final
conflict to be heat Miser versus cold Miser. That's what
I like, Sam Neil. But I'm bump bump like BERMDJ
(15:23):
clearly hotter here than it is where my brother lives
at the North Pole DJ A a little bit. Yeah. Okay,
you know I used to really like the cold Miser,
and now I think, like in the last like my
favorite is changed, like the heat myser more. Yeah, I
think I'm still with the snow Miser, but he has
(15:44):
the good dance with he does, yes, he does, and
and and then Jaunty hat. But but I like how
the heat Miser says thank you in the middle lady something,
thank you. He's got some flair. I feel like I
need to watch that that again. But I'm bumps. Have
Slayers in the background, what a bump bump. They're the
official band of the heat Miser. Slayer has to be right,
(16:08):
has to be. Slayer's got to be. He did sound
like a saxophone merciful fate right there. Probably the nice
band and that Slayer one of the opening acts for
the Metallica tour this coming year. Still they're opening for
really Slayers opening. Yeah, but still if you don't you
can't have a well, I mean, I think if you
(16:29):
can get on board that gravy train and DJ for
the Stone Miser, clearly Hella waits Jason Smith. Sorry it's Panthera,
oh so not Slayer. Sorry, you got it wrong, you
got draw that's all wrong. You're wrong. You're wrong, you're wrong.
(16:51):
You're like God Slayers A question, but no, you said
like you said that you had it on authority said opening, Yeah,
it's Metallica, and it turns out you're wrong. You're wrong,
it's with Mammoth. And then the second night is five
fingered Death Punch and t J. Just the other day,
I went and got a super sandwich combo broccoli, grilled cheese,
(17:14):
soup and a sandwich at Panera. I hate you. Then
everything you stand there, Uh, the Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Carmen. Any first responder will tell
you never try to beat a train. After breaking can
take a mile for a train to completely stop. So
when you come to a rail crossing stop because trains can't.
(17:35):
Here's an update on Kyler Murray. Cliff Kingsbury, Pardner's head coach,
spoke after Murray left in the early in the first
quarter after two plays. Ever, you went down with a
non contact knee injury. Uh. Murray at his news conference
few minutes ago said that his injury doesn't look good,
but we'll know more in the morning. However, a source
told ESPN there is little doubt that Kyler Murray has
(18:00):
a torn a c L, which would mean he would
be out for the rest of the season. And at
this point, when you get hurt at the end of December,
when are you really going to come back, depending how
bad the tears, are you going to be able to
come back for off season workouts? Probably not? Are you
able to come back for training camp? Gee, that's the hope,
But you're talking about that six months away. Here's at
(18:20):
the end of the season, the end of the season
toward a c L very very difficult. And now the
thing is Kyler Murray is a guy who you know,
he got his big contract, but his overall I never
believe that he was someone who I would say, Okay,
he's gonna finish this contract in Arizona, because there's just
so many things have happened with the Cardinals over the
(18:42):
course of the past couple of years, and Murray was
at odds with the with the team, and he steined
his contract and Cliff Kingsbury probably is gonna wind up
being in the X head coach of the Cardinals at
some point by the end of the season. Murray, now
you didn't know, could he potentially have been on the
on the trading block, and now all that's thrown up
in the air, And because you don't know when he's
gonna come back and if someone gonna trade for him,
(19:03):
if he if he's injured, he doesn't know when he's
gonna come back and be healthy. Now he's now, he's staying.
Now he's a Cardinal at least for the next year.
But overall, you look at this, the Cardinals were a
team that everybody liked. Look I I liked him. I said,
they're in my dark corse NFC championship team in the
beginning of the year when I said, hey, Eagles in
the NFC Championship, they're going to the Super Bowl. Who
(19:23):
are they gonna beat to get there? I said, Arizona.
And look how it didn't work out for me. I
gave you Arizona. The window for this Arizona team is closed,
all right, And you're gonna see now players who want
to get out and want to go Because here's Kyler,
he's hurt. Who knows when he's coming back? How many
more years do is DeAndre Hopkins have to wait? Right?
How many more us to other guys have? Uh? Hey,
(19:44):
they were a team that was built to win. Now
they brought in leadership to potentially help them through the
growing pains where they could be a team that competes
in the playoffs and gets further. Now you're gonna see
this team being dismantled and players are gonna want to go,
and they're gonna have to make trades to get to
get younger players in because now you're talking about potentially,
you're looking at this because three is who knows if
(20:05):
we're gonna be any good? Who knows when Kyler Murray
is gonna come back to play. I mean that's what's
happened tonight with Kyler Murray's injury. Yeah, I think some
of it also changed the calculus. Arizona was a team
mentioned as a potential destination for Sean Payton right in
terms of his return to the league, where he might
be amenable uh to try and to push the trade
(20:27):
and seeing what the Saints would be able to offer up.
Because you've got talent in your receiving corps. You've got
some component parts on defense that on paper pretty said. Obviously,
you know J. J. Watt spends a lot of time injured,
but when available can still be a disruptor. Zach Allen
has been fantastic for years. We we celebrate Buddha Baker
(20:48):
or wherever we can, but you've got those misses. Isaiah
Simmons has never really been the player. Made a couple
of plays tonight early, but has never become the player
they expected when they drafted him in the first round
of And we can start getting back into the Steve
Kime part of things, but just looking at where that
where they're headed with Hopkins, with Mark Yes Brown that
they brought in, With Robbie Anderson that they brought in,
(21:11):
he's been invisible, right And he called his name on
a catch early on and this one and you had
Kevin Harland doing the pause like it's Robbie Anderson, like yeah,
there he is. You know that kind of thing. So
you look at the weaponry and James Conner when healthy
isn't always a guy between the twenties that's dominant. But
get him we he knows how to smell the painted grass, right.
(21:35):
If you get him, get him an opportunity in close,
he's not you're not denying him right that That's been
his deal the last couple of years. And with Kyler
Murray it had become and I think you and I
have talked about this for a couple of years actually
in terms of their relationship fractured disagreements. Where the disconnects
(21:56):
are whether a new coach would get him to push forward,
and Murray, with that clause in his contract, became a
lot of well what's the work ethic? And as we
broke it down, part of it is it's always come
easy all the way through college and even into the
early part of his NFL career of while it wait,
now I gotta go and I gotta refine things right
(22:17):
because the rest of the game is caught up with me.
And clearly Kingsbury has not been the coach to inspire
whatever change they needed to happen. So if you looked
at it straight coaching change, maybe they whether it was
Peyton or somebody else, you can bring someone else to
push that along. Well, now you're adding another year to
that process. And for the Cardinals now, I don't know
(22:39):
that any of the principles are there. If Murray would
have stayed healthy, would he have been dealt? Maybe the
other two I don't think survived the year after the
effort that they didn't put forward down the stretch Quarrel,
Colt McCoy running around getting drilled time and time and
time out. But I mean they look like they quit
(22:59):
in the second half, which it's hard with a month ago, right,
But look at it this way with with Cliff Kingsbury,
who now that the attention is going to be on
him to go from Murray? Is that well, yeah, but
after this year he's going to be out because it
clearly hasn't worked. But at this point, if you're if
you're the Cardinals, do you really want to make a move?
Do you want to wait till the end of the season?
You got a month left, the more games, the worst
(23:19):
your draft position is. I mean, they're gonna and now
there's no worry about Kyler Murray versus Cliff Kingsbury. Does
this work? Kyler Murray is not gonna be playing, and
you're gonna allow the season to just finish the last
month the way it is that then you're gonna make
your move and make your decision. But now Arizona's gone
from being it was a destination and now it's can
you really go there? I mean it is what one
(23:40):
step from Kyler Murray did that for everybody to third
play of the game. It went from a destination to yeah,
and now we gotta start over again. Yeah, Because I
mean it's it's hard right, because you look at with
Murray and the contract that you have, whether he was
traded otherwise, he's he's there. You know, we always bring
in Russell Wilson, who's now in concussion protocol. A couple
of touch down passes started to make a game of things, right,
(24:03):
Jerry Judy, you probably should have been thrown out, but
wasn't ends up having a monster game. Good for him,
part of our hot plays this past week on the
I Watch Flex podcast. But when we look at the
both situations, you're probably gonna change coaches. So you've got
to get the input of those quarterbacks. Given the amount
of money you've given them, right, given given their standing
(24:25):
with their respective squads, they've got to have some saying,
all right, who's the guy I want to come bring
in and work with, to be part of the interview process,
to be part of that that whole uh next set
for both the Broncos and the Cardinals, quarterbacks should be
able to play a pretty big role here. Maybe you
don't want them to, but based on what the results
(24:47):
have been with them, I don't think you have a choice.
You paid them, so all right, well, how do we
coax the best out of you? With maybe bad money
having been spent Twitter at how about a fresca, Mike
get swollen dumb. Any first responder will tell you never
try to beat a train after breaking can take a
mile for a train to completely stops when you come
to a rail crossing stop because trains can't just think
(25:08):
about that one step has done all of that to
this organization. Be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio app FO Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show
(25:28):
with my bist friend Mike Harmon live from the tire
Act dot Com studios, and we spent a lot of
times and I talking about Kyler Murra. Will get back
into Mac Jones and the Patriots coming up in a
few while I will not have any praise for Mac Jones,
that will have a lot of praise for the Patriots
because they do something that better than any other team
(25:49):
I've seen in the NFL the last twenty beat up
on the Jets. Lots of teams do that, lots and
lots they do it better than nobody does it better.
But you know who the most checked out quarterback is
in the NFL right now. Tom Brady more than Aaron Rodgers.
There is no quarterback who is more desirous of the
(26:10):
season to end than Brady. Brady is mad all the time.
He's I'm not talking about this game. We blankety blanks
sucked there. He's mad all that, and I get it.
Look and I get it. I understand him. But mentally
he's even though they have a chance to win the division,
he knows they're not going anywhere. He knows there's no
(26:30):
riding to the rescue, there's no bye week where we're
going to fix things like we did two years ago.
He's done. He's ready for the season to end. And
I get it, because the guy got divorced very publicly
during the season. He lost almost thirty pounds because he
didn't get up, didn't get out of bed, didn't get
out of the house while this is all going on.
I get he wants the season to end. I understand.
(26:52):
And the thing is is that he's got to play
really good the next few weeks if he wants to
continue to play in the NFL next because if he doesn't,
there's not gonna be anybody who's gonna be interested enough
in him to say, yes, we'll go all in you
Tom for a couple of years, because he's not gonna
go someplace for a year and play him for a
one year deal. Yeah, we're we're gonna, We're gonna, we're
(27:12):
sold on you, Tom to bring us a championship. Who's
gonna do that? Nobody. So he's under so much stress,
maybe the most stress he's ever had in the NFL
during his entire twenty year run. It happens, that's the
way it's going on with him, and more so than that,
I will tell you this is exactly what's gonna happen
in the off season because he sees what's going to happen,
(27:32):
because now he sees his NFL mortality and he sees it.
If I can't get it going, no one's gonna want me.
I don't know what's gonna happen, but I'll tell you
what's gonna He's desperate to continue. He doesn't want this
to be the way he goes out right now. Everybody
can go out hitting a jumper at the end like
Jordan walking away. Not everybody can do that. But he
wants to go out with a better way than this,
where man, tom skills are really not good. He does
(27:53):
not want to go out and now the lasting people
say about him for the next few years is, yeah,
Tom was just done. Tom was done. Tom was done.
Tom was on. But this is how it's gonna go
for him in the off season. The off season is
gonna hit and very quietly, he and his agent don
Ye're gonna gonna feel around and see if there's a
chance that somebody wants Brady for next season. And what's
(28:16):
gonna happen is this. Teams are gonna say potentially, but
we won't know until after the draft and we get
through free agency. We don't know, So there will be
teams who will say, yeah, maybe, but we're not gonna
go crazy and sign Brady now, not knowing how the
draft is gonna fall. The's gonna be a lot of
quarterbacks in the first round. So what's gonna happen is
after the season knows over, Brady is gonna say, I'm
(28:39):
gonna take a long time to decide do I want
to play? Do I not want to play? So he
looks like he's making a decision on his terms, and
if there's nothing out there for him, at the end,
when when you get past the draft and everything else,
He'll wait. He'll wait, He'll wait until you get to
about mini camp. We're wondering what's Brady. Then he will
(28:59):
decide I'm officially retired from the NFL, and it will
seem like it's his decision. I took a long time.
I told teams, I don't know, I don't know. I
don't know, and it's gonna seem like it's his decision
that it's not going to be a very quick, hasty
I'm done at the end of the year. It's gonna be.
I want to make it look like I'm doing it.
I want to make it look like I'm thinking a
lot about it, and I'm going through all the channels.
Maybe I could play again. I don't know what my
(29:21):
family life is going to be about, but very quietly,
it's gonna be how much interest is there, and if
there's nobody, then it will It will be done that
way so we can present it as it's time for
me to retire. I am making my decision. Meanwhile, it's
the NFL telling him, sorry, Tom, you had a great run,
better run than anybody we've ever seen a quarterback but
now it's over. Yeah. What one of the things to
(29:41):
ponder is just how many quarterbacks might be available right
the report earlier today. Again, you take it all when
we get into the sourcing of things with a grain
of salt. But whether Jordan's love did say, hey, if
Aaron Rodgers come back, I want to get traded, Well,
that just stands to logic. I don't know how much
reporting that is versus common sense of hey, if he's
(30:02):
coming back here, then I want out, or Aaron Rodgers
gets dealt that you figure out a way with the
money and and dead cap and everything else to excise
of that, Derek Carr could be on the move, who knows,
maybe Miami's hours on too. No, and just keep on
going down the line. But Kyler Murray, had he been healthy,
maybe he would have been on the move. Just keep going, like,
(30:25):
there's so many quarterbacks that might be in this jumble
that you would decide or you have to figure out
where Tom Brady would rank based on the current composition
of your roster, the ability to win, because it's gonna
be a very select few teams that he would be
looking to go do and assuming and this is again
assuming things progress with San Francisco as they've started with
(30:49):
young Brock Purdy, that that might be one destination that
was on the board that now isn't. Yeah, because look,
look we'll get into Brock Purty coming up in a
few minutes. But now, is there any doubt the Niners
gonna go into next year with Purdy and Trey Lance
as their quarterbacks? Right? We like we go after these games,
and particularly with Tampa. And I was disappointed, not because hey,
(31:11):
here's here's one of my upset specials, you know, long
shot go into San Francisco and figure things out. Just
the lack of anything defensively from that squad. Todd Bowls
can talk about the offense and not making plays on
that side of the ball all he wants, Like his
defense got absolutely torched, shredded, eviscerated, like that was just
(31:33):
a joke of it. Like there was no resistance whatsoever
during that into the entirety of that game. You know,
if there's not a holding call Brady to Evant, is
it that got called back? Is it a different game?
I don't know. Maybe for a quarter didn't didn't look
like they were gonna stand up defensively for any length
of time. But to the larger point of Brady, I
(31:56):
could see where it becomes the the long off season
of discontent and photos shopping him into more and more
jerseys just based on the number of quarterbacks including the
upcoming draft class that are on the table for the uh,
you know, musical chairs to get underway, and however many
teams there are, how many matches can you really find?
(32:18):
How many quarterbacks? How many teams are desperate need of somebody,
and even the teams that are gonna, hey, we can
move Derek car because we're gonna draft somebody. We can
move Lamar Jacksons we're gonna draft somebody. I mean that,
That's how it's gonna go. It's gonna be tough finding
Brady and match He's playing for his NFL life in
the next few weeks and he wants the season to
be over. Just think about matchmaker and matchmaker Twitter and
(32:40):
how about a Fresco Mike had swollen dome. Yes. More
