Speaker 1 (00:00):
Greetings, Welcome inside our three, The Jason Smith Show with
my biss friend Mike Harmon. Festive Hobo true, absolutely true,
wearing my Santa shorts. Ready to get after it. Let's
got the glog Sunday Sunday Sunday Race Fans. Every goal

(00:21):
starts with an assist on and off the field. That's
why Haley On and US Soccer are launching for the Assist,

I'm Centrum. To learn more, go to Hailey onassist dot com.
That's Haley Onassist dot com. H A l e O
n assist dot com. Before we get to two big

(00:44):
games out of the NFL, I gotta say this now.
I've seen this on Twitter. It's starting to go viral,
and I really not because I can't believe he did it.
But I really I can't believe he did it. This
video of f Curry before Golden State's game tonight, where
from the tunnel he just kind of highlight throws a

(01:08):
ball the length of the court and swishes it and
and everybody's going crazy and he runs back into the
into the into the tunnel. I see that, and I go,
is that real? Like, like, this is where I'm at
with AI's and Caitlin Clark as I tweet out, Hey,
was this real? Did this really happen? Like I've seen
the same shot, I've seen video, but I've yet to see,

(01:28):
uh it really be confirmed by NBA or Sports Center
or Fox or somebody. He said, Hey, look at this.
Look at this video Steph Curry from before the game,
And I go, is that? Did he really just take
the ball and wait and just chuck it up from
the tunnel all the way to the other end of
the floor with one one hand and make it like
I mean, it would be just the latest of great

(01:51):
things the guy's done in his career. But I really,
I really want to know if that's real. Well, it
goes to the commercial that's been running where he throws
shade at pretty much every other superstar about changing jersey
numbers and teams and everything else. Part of it is
the Hey, you know, I'm a man of consistency in
my workout. I get my first pass in warm ups

(02:11):
from the same guy, same spot on the floor, all
that stuff. So trying to go to that and build
that lore. You watch enough of a network. That's one
of the ads. It's kind of like our guy Dana
White that we talked about a couple of months ago.
I don't see that one as much. You know, you
can never stop being American. But yeah, with Steph Curry,
we got this ad running again. Slight, very superstar like

(02:35):
the Warriors have tweeted it out and yeah, like Hoops Central,
but like the Warriors could tweet it out as a
fun thing, like, hey, we made this step, you know,
I mean, like so I don't know. I mean, I
want to believe it, right, I want to believe it's here.
Like even when the NBA said, hey, are you serious,
like to this really like okay, But legitimately, you got
a couple thousand people that should be able to tell
you that whether I mean, that's amazing you didn't have

(02:58):
you didn't sign an NDA walking him that you won't
talk about a shot. Well, the thing is it was
way before the game. There's not a lot of people
in the stands. So this is like even before pregame
warm ups, Like there's there's probably I don't know what
a few hundred people there like that's where you're at,
Like that, that's where I mean. He promised them all
autographs if they keep their mouth shut if I make this.

(03:21):
And now you know, Shaq used to do that at
Laker practice when I was when I was covering the
Lakers for a season and a half with with KBC.
He would always come to the end of practice and
he would like stand behind the three point line, uh,
ready for the media session, which you know players didn't
want to do all the time, and and he would
stand there with his backtory buddy and go, all right,
if I make this, I don't have to talk to

(03:41):
you guys today. We got a deal. We got a deal.
We got a deal. And he would just like throw
it up like behind that. Of course he would miss
he would come and sit down. But I always wondered, like, oh,
would he make that once? Like what if he made
that once? You just walk away and guard I see tomorrow.
I don't have to do it. I think I think
he would. I'm walking away walking right. It's not like
a post game where he's obligated to sit there and
talk to you like he did engage you, at least

(04:02):
for those thirty seconds to tell you about this bet. Sure,
so while the Warriors in action tonight against the Tea Wolves,
this one now midway through the fourth quarter tals on
top of the Warriors one oh three ninety six. Hopefully
Curry making that shot, you know, makes us believe that, okay,
maybe maybe everything's gonna be okay for the Warriors this
year twenty five tonight in twenty five minutes for Steph

(04:25):
Curry three out of eleven from three point range for
the Warriors. As look, the Warriors have played about as
well as they could. And now that you know you
have Steph back, you know, hopefully he's back in a
you know, in a getting in a groove. Okay, we'll
see how it goes. And you got my guy Pat
Spencer out of Northwestern on a five game heater with

(04:46):
double digits. Let's go. Sure, sure, I gotta take every
chance I get when I gotta, I mean, look, you
look at the Western Conference just really quick, and you
see the Warriors. Okay, they need some kind of they
need some kind of heat up, like they need stuff
to be able to carry them. Because as great as
we thought it was gonna be for the beginning of

(05:07):
the year, it's Oh okay, you know they're they're sitting.
We're the stuff again, right, We're back to that conversation. Yeah,
and we're back into the playing round. And that's kind
of where they are a five hundred team. They watched
teams like the Nuggets and the Rockets and the Lakers
all either stay very good or surpass them from a

(05:27):
year ago. So it's kind of like you're going, okay, Warriors,
if you gotta get it going. Man, we need something
happening here. Well, I mean steal from John Cena. The
time is now. It's not John Cena, get the Horns going.
Come on now tomorrow. Two more big games in the
NFL to take a look at on Sunday, and let's say, hey,
congratulations to Josh Allen. He and Hilly Steinfeld will become parents.

(05:52):
News coming out earlier today. And it's not because of this,
although I'm sure this helps, but Buffalo's game against New
England on Sunday, game where the Patriots can wrap up
the AFC East or Buffalo can turn it into something
they got to win on the road. And I know
the arrow points New England. Yeah, it's a load of hooey.

(06:14):
This is Josh allentime. It's that simple. This part of
the season, early December. You've seen it before, you started
to see it a little bit now. This is simply
Josh Allen time. It's time for him to put the
Bills on his shoulders, and he does it. On Sunday,
he writes the NFL Order of New England being overrated.
He's won so many big December games like this in

(06:35):
his career. The Buffalo offense gets hot right away. They
run the football well, they'll roll off the jump New
England coming off the by. They'll get it going, but
they won't be able to catch up a lot of
points in this game. But give me the Bills in
a thirty eight thirty one kind of victory here where
they get out to a two digit lead, and that's
kind of what the game is most of the way,

(06:57):
and we start talking about the Bills again as a
real serious role contender. Look at you getting deep with
the Bills one and a half point favorite on the
road in this one. Maybe propelled by the fact that
Josh Allen is a pending dad, but also the fact
that we watched him put the cape on last week
at forty yard touchdown run and it seems like that

(07:20):
we've talked about it a lot over the course of
the season, Jason where he hasn't done that a ton.
I mean for the longest time. Patrick Mahomes had more
rushing yards this year than he did. Several of these
other guys that don't have the reputation of being runners
have been more active on that side in terms of scrambling,
design play. Oh like, we haven't seen that nearly with

(07:42):
Jalen Hurts, but they've got a whole other mess going on.
But for Josh Allen and James Cook, imperative here that
they get going early. Cook with a difficult spot here.
You know, we talk about, you know, the fantasy playoffs
and fun you and I in between, you know, setting
lineups and all that stuff as we sit together studio.
He's a tough play as you know, expecting the usual greatness,

(08:04):
but it's not gonna be shut down and they'll be
consistent with it. Curiosity is in the passing game, whether
you get more than just the move the chains of Shakir.
Can you get Kean Coleman to where you get one
or two of those jail break moments that you drafted
him for. Will Kinkaid, be able to finish a game,
all all of those things to try to go up
against New England, who we've chronicled it weeks week about

(08:29):
the schedule. Here's a decided step up in class with
a lot to play for, but but certainly a different
spot for Drake May. Buffalo's defense hasn't been great. There's
nobody that you say stands out as an individual, but
as a unit, there's still an upper half in terms
of points allowed in playmaking. So yeah, it's tough to

(08:51):
go away from the Bills, but I'll take the Patriots
to win and hold Serve by a field goal. That's it.
The narrowest of margins. Green Bay and Denver in a
game that you you see the points spreading, you go,
is this is this? Is this for real? Is this
a trap game? Is it is this? Green Bay on
the road in Denver, Denver with the best record in

(09:14):
the in the AFCA, and and the Packers are favored
by anywhere from two and a half to three points,
And it feels like a trap game. Oh, I'm jumping
on the Broncos. Green Bay is gonna win. It feels
like a trap game. However, you can talk trap all
you want. You can talk the m Night Shamalain really
bad movie, Trap all you want. I thought Denver's the

(09:37):
classic actbar Denver's defense figures this out right. But we
spent a lot of time the last Night's talking about
the best defense in the NFL. But it's December. This
when you talk about teams like the Broncos and the
Seahawks and the Rams and the Texans, you know, for
the and the Chargers, those are probably the five best
defenses in the NFL. But Denver's defense at home against

(09:57):
the Packers, this is gonna be a toast ub game
for Bay.

Speaker 2 (10:00):
Right.

Speaker 1 (10:01):
I'll take the Broncos and their defense over Jordan Love
in this game. The Packers have found not that it's
too many times, but boy, they really look They tend
to look poor a little bit more often than you
think during the course of a year. And I don't
know if it's just you know, coming down off a
big win, or if it's taking somebody lightly, but the

(10:24):
Packers coming off this win over the Bears, yeah, it's
hard for me to see that. Hey, we're keeping up
the momentum. We're going into Denver and winning this football game. Look,
Denver's eleven and two for a reason, Okay, and for
the one question about this team to be Bo Nicks
and he's not quite the player he was last year.
I'll give you this Bowl prediction for Sunday. He has
his biggest game of the year. He's been in game

(10:46):
manager role for a long time this season because it's
all the Broncos have needed to win, but they got
to get out of it a bit. He's got to
be able to throw the football more. He is dynamic.
We saw it all year last year. This is time
for him to take that manager moniker and kind of
shed it a little bit. This is a big game
to do it against a really good team. I'll take

(11:07):
the Broncos Bonnicks to play big. Their defensive shut down
the Packers and your Chicago Bears, Mike Harmon vault back
into first place in the NFC North. Look at that
they can jump from seventh and it's kind of you know,
chaos in the NFC. Punch a playoff Berth. But just
the way you did that whole cadence, I wanted to

(11:27):
jump on you like Lee course when y'all not so fast,
My friend, Green Bay two and a half point favorites road.
Forty two and a half is the total one of
the games that we keep an eye on for temperatures,
wins all of that fun stuff, And this is where
the green Bay defense, to me, has to come up large.
We look at our j Harvey, what he's been able
to do running the football for Bownicks to completion percent. Look,

(11:50):
he's played really well down the stretch. They've had a
couple of big blow up kind of games waiting for
those wide receivers to be more consistent for and you
get the style points to go along with it for
Denver defense, Like this is the great stalemate, right. Forty
two and a half seems perhaps a little ambitious in

(12:12):
terms of you're over on your number, But I'm a
take green Bay to win this game. Balance in the
force and Micah Parsons to be a disruptor, to disrupt
bo Nicks and create some chaos. Wow, you're picking the
team to stay in first place against your Bears. That's
how you know I really truly believe it to be true.
I can't be because I'm not self hating. Boy, I

(12:32):
can't get my Bear stuff on fast enough. Come on,
you've seen it you've seen what those hats look like.
Those things are weather man. Those are not Hey, these
are just fresh and new, like a lot of the
folks walking around, you know with the insert team here. No, no, no,
like there their weather. They're grimy. They've been through the
trenches with me. So you know, it's it's not made

(12:54):
from a hey, you know, I what out, No, it's
it's the Packers are solid team and I celebrate, you know,
good football, and I think that's one of the best
games we have on the slate for Week fifteen. It's great.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
You know.

Speaker 1 (13:07):
The funny thing is you talk about the over under,
and the smallest over under this week right now is
the Bears in the Browns. That's a thirty eight or
thirty eight and a half, where if Bundy, yeah we
got four or five that are right around that mark.
But yeah, the Bears downward pressure again, temperatures, So we'll

(13:28):
see how folks respond. You're you're talking about a field
that on its best day is either worst or second
worst by every rating in the National Football League Chicago
Parks District. I mean that is basically playing on concrete
on the lake front on Sunday, So that that one is.

(13:49):
I mean, just just get a cup of cocoa and
just you know, smile that you're not sitting out there,
exit out about a fresca exit swalling down. The Jason
Smith Show with My best friend Mine Carman. We got
more NFL on this big Football Friday coming up, but
straight ahead to college football inside our extraordinary Pete few
tech stops by. What is next for Michigan and Sharon

(14:11):
Moore after the week they have had. Who's taking home
the Heisman Trophy tomorrow? Keep it here, Jason and Mike

Speaker 1 (14:54):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Tomorrow, Someone's walking away for Nanda Mendozo
with the Heisman Trophy. Well, when you win the Maxwell
and Davey O'Brien Award, gotta think that's gonna happen. Yeah. Meanwhile,
maybe Michigan hires a new head coach by tomorrow. Nobody
better to talk to about both of these things than

(15:15):
longtime friend of the show, the owner, editor, proprietor Grand
Pooba of College Footballnews dot com. All the picks, all
the analysis, all the prognostications you could possibly want, by
our man, Pete Futech. He is on Twitter at Pete
feutech Uh. Pete so uh. A bit of a week
we weren't expecting in college football.

Speaker 4 (15:36):
A lot of stuff happening out there. Yeah, no, it's
I mean, there's not gonna be anything too interesting a
man that I'll be. I mean, if it's not Mendoza,
who's it gonna be. Because I don't know, I might
vote for this thing. I'm not supposed to say anything,
but like you know, you saw it tonight. He kind
of won everything except for the Boulitic cough, which was

(15:58):
interesting because Mikyle Lemon wins this thing. I vote for
that too, and nobody I know, know you know pretty
much vote did not vote for Jeremiah Smith. But okay,
you know the welcome to Award season, here we go.

Speaker 1 (16:12):
So so what you're telling me is Steve Vangeli, even
though proving he may be the most valuable player in
college football, is not going to win the Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 4 (16:20):
Well, there is not a you know, he got shot.
I'm sure he got vote, you know maybe, but but
it's this But again, this was they said before. It
was like nine o'clock on Saturday night and I still
didn't quite have my my ballot ready to go yet. So, uh,
this this is a bad year for the Heisman, probably

(16:42):
the worst I can ever remember. There isn't a real
Heidsman guy there, So I'm guessing. I'm guessing it's gonna
be Mendoza because I'm gonna think the other three guys
probably split them pretty much equally.

Speaker 1 (16:55):
Yeah, the odds certainly heavy, heavy in Mendoza favor. But
we were talking about a little bit earlier, Pete. The
fact that all four of these guys were really far
off the map when we started this season has got
to be good for something. Even if we do the
comparisons of hey, they pale in comparison to these great
seasons in the past.

Speaker 4 (17:16):
Unless you know, it means that arch Manning suck. You know,
so it's no.

Speaker 1 (17:20):
I mean, he finished strong, Pete, he finished strong.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
Come on, well, the Heisman is so hard to win.
I mean, like look at stuff like the Doak Walker
and you're like, the Doak Walker is like, you know,
Jonathan Taylor and Derrick Henry and Ricky Williams and you know,
all these like real you know guy. I mean there's
some you know, strange names on there as well, but
you know those are like the Titans of you know,

(17:44):
the college football game. You look at the Heisman, all right,
Eric Crouch pretty good, you know. You know, Gina Toretto
was all right. I mean, you've got some interesting characters
on there. But you know, look, this year it's it
really was, you know, a year where it was more
about the team. Uh. But none of these guys did
anything that was at a whole other level where you

(18:05):
haven't seen it before, Like Jaydon Daniels statistically, or you know,
even Travis Hunter to a certain extent, even though I
didn't have him on my ballot. But there's just not
a guy who's like this is the Guy of the Season,
and I will still get I get yelled at everybody
by everyone when I do this, especially people who do
what I do who find this might as well say
their dogs ugly or something. I think we should have

(18:27):
both for the Heisman and the NFL MVP. By the way,
after the seasons are over, like when the real when
the most important games happened, Like well, the Big tim
Championship didn't matter on Saturday night. All the matterage is
you know what is Mendoza saying do for? Because saying
rips it up and he's awesome in the college football playoffs? Well,
then I don't know what.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
You know, we'll do it.

Speaker 4 (18:48):
You know who did the Heisman thing would be then?
So I think we should do this after the season
is over.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
Yeah. It reminds me Pete this year, like what what
would you said? The lack of juice, the tepid news.
It's kind of like when Troy Smith won in two
thousand and six, right, he was the best quarterback on
the best team. He was a really good leader, and
nobody jumped out with stats. Nobody had seventy touchdowns like
Joe Burrow did. So yeah, okay, Troy Smith wins. That's

(19:15):
kind of what I feel like. Fernanda Mendoza is on
the best team. He's you know, great leader, he's you know,
thirty touchdowns, and he's had his moments. So yeah, he's
gonna win the Heisman Trophy.

Speaker 4 (19:26):
And that's kind of a different too. I mean, the
one throw at the end of the game against Ohio
State is like, okay, well there's a moment. And obviously
the Penn State game, you know, so it's again, all
these guys are good, and I don't like, it's just
hard to like say, you know that when these guys
aren't worthy of these seasons. But again, none of them
stood out. There really isn't a real screaming Heisman war

(19:49):
this year.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
Well we fillibustered long enough with positivity. What the hell's
going on in Michigan.

Speaker 4 (19:57):
I don't know. The whole thing is weird from top
to bottom, and you know, and the number of people
are coming out, Oh I knew this was going to happen.
It's like, oh, really, okay, you know that there's always
rumors of this and this and this. It's weird from
the beginning. First of all, it's not a football story,
and so the sad part about it is obviously, you know,

(20:18):
here's a guy whose life is in real has real problems.
Now his family's got real problems. I mean, these are
isn't a real world thing, not like a Connor Stallion
type of silly, you know sort of thing.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
This is.

Speaker 4 (20:34):
And and for you know, for the for Twitter and
fan bases of other teams to kind of rip on
this in a football way is just wrong. For Twitter
to take its racism to a whole other level is
just obviously even more wrong. And just it's just ugly
from top to bottom. And look, it's it's been handled

(20:55):
wrong by Michigan in every way. I haven't heard anything
yet about you know, the woman who's making claims here
that it sounds like it's just it was just a
violation of school policy. I haven't heard anything yet. I mean,
it could be very wrong here. So if something goes
to sideways, don't hold me to this, But like, it
doesn't seem like there is anything other than just something

(21:17):
that goes against the morality clause in the contract that
Moore had and then obviously gets tired there because of
this morality clause, and just everything goes sideway. So It's
just an awful, awful time for everyone involved.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
Now the thing is beaten out to turn this into
a football story. You know, we mentioned this last hour.
I know that it seems like we're in early days
and Searon Moore and this is just unfolding. But Michigan
can't really wait to hire a head coach. You might
start losing players, you might start losing commits. Like you
got to fix this thing pretty fast. And the fact
that we haven't heard anything, I'm thinking that if Kaylin

(21:55):
de Boor loses to Oklahoma, he's the coach of Michigan
next year. He's bought out in Alabama and he's a
new head coach in.

Speaker 4 (22:01):
Michigan who's playing tomorrow night. What there's a ball game
that's going to be happening right about now, right around
your Washington Yeah, and uh huh, there you go, you
get there, get there, you got it. Good fish. That's

(22:22):
probably your guy in.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
The clubhouse's fish. Huh.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
Okay, I do, I do. I didn't even to make
this a weird, but like.

Speaker 1 (22:28):
Yeah, see I was I was more than thinking you
were going to talk about John Cena and Gunter, But yeah,
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (22:33):
No, no, no, the whole point being that, you know what,
there's the whole there's never a good time for a
coaching change. Well this is pretty good because you know
it doesn't matter. Michigan is not playing for anything real,
it's a ball game. Okay, whatever, Uh, you just pass
the signing day things. You're fine. You're in transfer portal time.
That's fine too. You got a whole off season to

(22:54):
get everything in place. So if jet Fish is your guy,
well he's available tomorrow night right about this time. So
play into the rule. I mean, you guys are everybody else.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Actually, we in a.

Speaker 4 (23:10):
Weird way sort of broke it and got trouble for it.
When remember the whole thing about lets Miles and less
Miles was you know, gonna be the next head coach,
and then all of a sudden they miraculously got into
the BCS Championship, and you know, Michigan had to act fast,
and you got Rich Rodriguez. I hope they learned from
their mistake that you don't have to rush this. So

(23:32):
if the boor is your guy, or if a Tommy
Reese is your guy, or Jesse Minter, if they if
they've found someone in this whole process that they said,
this isn't going to be the best head coach in
the University of Michigan. Then wait a month, you know,
wait a few weeks, you know, save yourself as a headache.
If you're not sure that it's someone like a jetfish.

Speaker 1 (23:56):
Well, as we start looking ahead, I mean, we'll go
down all the batting odds. It's some fun names certainly
mixed in their pete. But you know, how about you
immersing yourself. I mean, we got one bowl game, but
then you know, you get playoffs are just a week away.

Speaker 4 (24:11):
Yeah, And the crazy part about it is that we
still have the time including this. I've been on how
many radio shows of the last Donal Low four days?
Not one have I talked about any specific game because
it's all been about how it's been Notre Dame processed
or nowsh road More or Lane Kiffen. And the biggest

(24:33):
problem of all is, gosh, if you look at that
Saturday of first round games, like, there's no all these
people say, oh, well, this corrupts college football playoff system.
If the if they're corrupt, there's no way that they
willingly would have wanted to show choose to have Okay,
Miami Texas A and M is right well up to
this first thing in the morning, it's nine am Pacific time,

(24:55):
you know, Waken Bowl, that's right out of the gate.
And then you get to Lane Ole, miss which was
a forty five to ten game earlier this year. And
then Oregon James Madison, where if this isn't fifty two
to two, I will be shocked.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
I'll be wow. And they run him Pete, they run
him against the Bears and Packers, yes.

Speaker 4 (25:16):
And the Eagles and the Commanders in the middle of
the afternoon where everyone's in there, you know, fantasy playoffs
and stuff, care about this stuff, and you're right, Bears
Packers is going to be like, who's I'm going to
watch this? I'm gonna be it. I'm gonna be the
only person in America who's gonna sit there. And even
though I live in Chicago and I'll have it on
multi view and I'll probably have to sound on the Bears,

(25:37):
but I'm the only person who's going to actually have
on part of a screen this James Madison Oregon game
unless it gets good. And then you know social media, Hey,
you gotta turn to this. I again. If it's not
twenty eight nothing in the first quarter or after at
least the first drive. I will be absolutely stunned if
Oregon just doesn't do this. And Antline, I get it,

(25:59):
you the guy the shot. That's kind of the point,
a little bit of a reward for Oregon. But again,
the whole idea that the college football Playoff is corrupt, well,
if it was corrupt, then James Madison is not playing,
like you said on Sunday night opposite Bears Packers.

Speaker 1 (26:14):
All right, Pete, So let's finish here now to combo
the NFL and college football. Like you said, seeing all
the players, seeing all the quarterbacks you have right now,
we got a lot of guys who are yeah, they're okay,
not quite what we expect for twenty twenty seven. And
I'm sure if Arch Manning declared for the NFL draft,
he'd be the number one overall pick. But if I

(26:34):
said to you right now what you've seen this year,
you know boldseason still to come. Obviously, if I said,
who's the first quarterback off the board in the NFL,
who would you pick as the first quarterback off the board?
Who are you telling me?

Speaker 4 (26:47):
I am really curious to see what Dante Moore does,
and I think I feel like Oregon has been a
little bit lost in this mix only because of all
the noise in the room from Indiana and Ohio State.
I like Mendoza, I'm not there that he's the number
one be all end all guy. I don't. I'm not
really there at Carson Carson Speck totally. But remember that

(27:10):
was a guy who's got the skills. He was supposedly
going to be the number one pick at one point.
I'm waiting to see what he does in this playoff.
But I really want to see what Dante Moore does
because he's got the skills, He's got the next level
things in place there. This could be his playoff and
this and we know how this works, the playoffs. Every
most people are gonna watch this at some point and

(27:32):
all of a sudden, whoever, whatever happens in this thing,
docs are gonna rise fast. I mean, last year you
did have Will Howard versus Riley Leonard. While he might
get Ryleany Lyons this weekend, it wasn't exactly a who's
who of big time quarterbacks. This time around, we're gonna
have some pretty big quarterbacks playing in this thing.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
He's on Twitter at Pete Futech. That is, at Pete
Feutech College Footballnews dot com. You're one stop shopping for
everything college football. Okay, really real, real quick? Pete Army, Navy?
Who do you got?

Speaker 4 (28:02):
Maybe? Why not?

Speaker 1 (28:05):
There you go and enjoy the fish Bowl tomorrow. That's
all the pick is Navy? Why not?

Speaker 4 (28:10):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (28:11):
Jedge good analysis? Jedfish Pete few tax leader in the
club that he could be the Michigan head coach this
time tomorrow night. How about it? I'm out of here?
Oh man? Uh so there we go. Hey could be
jet jetit maybe not. Wait for Kaitlin to board. Jedfish
and TJ. He clearly could be the fish that saved Michigan. TJ. Uh,

(28:35):
I gotta explain to for you, me and about five
other people. I gotta explain to anybody who's not Generation
X what the fish that save Pittsburgh was.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. From someone who was counting the hours
until she can go home, it's Monty Blagos with what's
trend I'm not counting in the hours, not like that.
But tell me, what did you explain that to me?
The I didn't get that. You just fish Save Pittsburgh.
Oh it was. It was a movie from then. It
was it made for TV movie the nineteen seventy starring

(29:05):
doctor j Okay Uh and it was uh he was
that in nineteen seventy nine. I want to say it
might be nineteen seventy. It was a comedy and he
it was like this. It wasn't the Sixers. It was
a basketball team in Pittsburgh and there was an astrologist
who was and who was helping like coach the team

(29:25):
and that's how they all had to be the team
started winning like yeah, they it was and I think
Stockard Channing was the astrologer who was helping them to
win because it was all about the uh, the astrological
signs and how they won. Like that was the movie
in nineteen seventy nine. Pretty pretty good cast. You got
metal arc lemon Kareem abdul Jabbar, Jonathan Winters was part Yeah, sure,

(29:47):
and you mentioned Stockard Channing. Debbie Allen was part of it.
And the great m Emmett Walsh. They're gonna say m
Knight Shamelin was in a big twist ending Doc Wild
would have been at the clip Wilson. I mean, just
keep going chick herds in there. I mean there's a lot.
All right, Wow, you said a lot.

Speaker 2 (30:05):
That still didn't really give me much information, but I
got it, okay, all right, I'm so confused.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
It's a movie. It's a movie. The point I'm gonna play,
I'm gonna blame the illness.

Speaker 2 (30:15):
Yeah right, but it's a movie. I that's that's where
we're I'm not I'm gonna go look it up after this.
All right, guys, the last NBA game has wrapped up,
and it was fun all the way through. It was
close between the Timberwoos and the Warriors. Steph Curry dropped
thirty nine points, but Minnesota pulled away in like the
final minute. They won it one twenty seven to one
twenty Rudy Gobert with the double double twenty four points

(30:37):
and fourteen rebounds. Donovan Mitchell was the one who had
forty eight points earlier today. Twenty four of them came
in the fourth quarter, and the Cavaliers rallied past the
Wizzards one thirty to one. Twenty six. Mavericks pulled away
in the fourth quarter to defeat the Nets one nineteen
to one.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
Eleven.

Speaker 2 (30:51):
Anthony Davis with his own double double twenty four points
and fourteen rebounds, and the Pistons rolled past the Hawks
one forty two to one fifteen. Jalen Johnson record did
his third straight triple double. He had nineteen points, eleven
rebounds and eleven assists. Other NBA news, I'm not dying,
I'm Good. Spurce center Victor w Manyama is expected to
return from his calf injury to play against the Thunder

(31:12):
in the semi final of the NBA Cup in Las Vegas,
but he's expected to play limited minutes. When it comes
to the NHL, there were two games they wrapped up
Blues top of the Blackhawks three to two, and the Mammoth
outscored the Kraken five to three. And Ifell news, the
Raiders are gonna start can you pick it? Our quarterback
against the Eagles as Gino Smith has a shoulder injury.
The Jets are gonna turn to rookie Brady Cook to
start at quarterback against the Jaguars. Tyrod Taylor to Rod Taylor, however,

(31:35):
he goes By and Justin Fields have been ruled out
with injuries.

Speaker 1 (31:37):
The Colts have not publicly.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Named a starting quarterback for Week fifteen against the Seahawks.
Bengals wide receiver T Higgins he is out for Week
fifteen against the Ravens because of his concussion, but Cowboys
wide receiver CD Lamb he cleared concussion protocols, so he's
gonna play against the Vikings on Sunday night.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Back to you guys, thanks a bunch mons. Yeah, the
fish that save Pittsburgh Monts. He's gonna go watch that
on aur iPad right now. Oh, that'd be good watch.

That's next. Jason to Mike, Fox Sports Radio, The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon live from
the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Thanks for Pete Futech joining
us a few minutes ago bringing down all the big

(33:01):
news in college football. You're trying to be all serious.
It's hard getting after it. It's hard when Dooku goes.
You know, it would have been a better lightsaber fight
scene with him and Yoda if they played this as
the song alongside Oh my god. Yeah, that might be
the funniest scene I've ever seen in a movie theater.

(33:23):
I'd be legendary when he started pinballing around Yoda jumping around.
That was about as funny as anything. No comedy match
that I'm singing the song to my own fight scene
and a lightsaber. That's what I'm doing, was it? Jerry
maguire line. I will not rest until there's a commercial
running during the Super Bowl in a game that you

(33:44):
are winning about you with a you know, hey, count Douka.
I'm singing the song It's the Holidays, and I'm fighting
Yoda with the lightsaber. That's what's happening right now and
over there is the band that you remember from the
nineteen seventy seven original. They've got a heavy metal riff.
Play that same song one more time. Dun du du
du du so part of our football Friday, like a

(34:08):
lot of big NFL to get to and in fad
will answer the biggest question today that we found out
about Sharon Moore. But Sunday marks the return potentially of
Philip Rivers to the NFL five years away. He was
signed this week by the Colts, and the Colts are
keeping it a bit of a mystery. If he's going
to start now. I don't know. It's not like they

(34:31):
could go back and look at any film of Philler.
We're gonna go back to see film of him from
twenty twenty. I mean really, we're gonna go back down
a bunch of computer simulations and what he's gonna look
like now and what he can computers. It's ai Philip
Rivers what you're looking back at. So potentially he could
play Sunday Boy. Look it's this simple. If Philip Rivers

(34:53):
doesn't play, I'm taking the Seahawks by twenty. If Philip
Rivers plays, I'm taking the Seahawks by th That's what's
gonna bad. That's what's gonna happen. Dude. This is not
just here's Philip Rivers coming back at forty four years old,
five years away. Right, you've heard that all like, you've
not heard one sentence about Philip Rivers this week that

(35:14):
it didn't go Philip Rivers, who's forty four years old, Right,
you got that. You know he hasn't played since twenty twenty.
All of this. This is not just here's Rivers coming
back after five years away, and he's forty four, and
he's heavier than he was, and he doesn't look like
he's in that great football shape and still can throw
the football a little bit. But let's face it, he
wasn't throwing the football every day the last five years

(35:35):
waiting for a phone call, right. That was he was
coaching high school football and having more kids. Right, that's
a Philip Rivers is a human jugs gun. I'm telling you, so, okay,
he's coming back. This is not me saying he's just
not gonna do well because he's coming back against one
of the top three defenses in the NFL. The Seahawks
are probably the second best team overall in the NFL.

(35:58):
Right now, if you're doing a power rankings, I would
still go Rams number one, Seahawks number two. Then I
would go the Broncos probably at three. Then you know,
I can't keep saying they're that overady. They have the
wins and I will maybe New England but at the
end of that elite list. But that's how But it's
NST defense is right, They're just behind Houston. Yes, Seattle
is Seattle playing at home is just I mean, and

(36:19):
Houston overalls a team is not great, but their defense
is the best defense in the NFL. But the whole
thing with the this is on the road in Seattle
with that great defense, What the hell do you think
is gonna happen? Man? How do you what? Really? I say,
I say thirty from Rivers because I'm I'm I'm gonna
count there being another ten or fourteen points that are

(36:40):
gonna happen because of strip sacks or pick sixes, because
Rivers is gonna go. Wow, those dbs are faster than
I remember it did twenty twenty. Like again, if Rivers
doesn't play, they'll win by twenty. If Rivers plays, the
Seahawks win by thirty. That's how it's gonna go. Well,
let's have a little bit of fun, showy uh, because
you know me, I love to be enterprising and find
some odds to go with, and specificity pass interceptions one

(37:05):
plus implied odds for Philip Rivers sixty three percent minus
one sixty seven. That's sixty three percent on the first
pass of an interception. No, just just in general. And
then we've got some over unders for completions and attempts.
You want to guess on completions three and a half,

(37:30):
sixteen and a half, oh boy, oh my goodness. And
the over under on attempts is twenty seven and a half.
What's the what's the over under on Jonathan Taylor rushing attempts?
Forty five forty six? Let me give me that just
a second. You want Jonathan Taylor to have the everybody
fantasy owners are upset, Hey, Jonathan Taylor's not helped me

(37:52):
out the last couple of weeks. Yeah, get ready for
a forty five carry Sunday with Philip Rivers place. There
is something to that. He is a minus one thirty
six is an anytime touchdown score seventy five and a
half as is over under for rushing yards thirteen and
a half receiving yards. So you've got that going on
for you. I don't see. There's the carry. Let's see

(38:16):
carries twenty one plus is minus one oh four. I
would take the over on that. He may get twenty
one carries in the first half. They may watch Philip
Rivers throw his first pass to go, Yeah, whenever you
got run it, run it, run it, run it, run it,
run it. I don't care. Just keep running that football.
Don't throw that ball again. Do not put that ball
in the air until I tell you it's okay. I

(38:37):
think all week you'd just be asking Jonathan Taylor, how
do you feel about chipping the on rush of all
of these defenders?

Speaker 2 (38:46):
Hey?

Speaker 1 (38:46):
Hey John, Hey John, let me ask you a question.
What's the what's the record in your life for most
consecutive plays in a road that you got the football?
What's the What's what's the record? Like, i'd bean, is
that something and it's something you want to beat? Like
do you want to go after that? Because I've heard
the thun want to go after the seventy three win
record of the Warriors? Like do you want to go
after most carries in a football game. Do you want
to go after that record? Because we could do that
for make that happen for you. We do that first

(39:08):
drive Parley. Let's see uh fuel turnle? How do you like?
That's it? Exit out about a Fresca X at Swollen Dome.
