If you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:27):
Oh that is US VJ Husky Arnie Span, you're in
for the guys to Night Jason Smith and his best
friend Mike Harmon on this New Year's Eve, But at
she It's twenty twenty six. Where I'm at? Happy New
Year's everybody here on the East Coast.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Happy New Year, buddy?

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Are you at New Year's resolution? Type? Guya VJ? Yeah? Yeah,
I like to make a few every year, I mean,
but more most of the stuff that people do at
New Year's resolutions you already do. Like people like. I
want to work out more. You work out out all
the time, you know what I mean. I want to
eat right. You eat right most of the time.

Speaker 4 (01:03):
Yeah. This year is a big one, though. I am January.
I am doing a dry January, which means no, no alcohol,
no liquor, an occasional and occasional mall back. I do
love me a nice good Argentina maull back in the
evening when I need to relax, and.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Just I don't know what that is.

Speaker 4 (01:18):
It's a it's a very good red wine from Argentina,
from the from the vines of Argentina. And and I'm
cutting to back. I still have a cigar fetish, and
I'm getting older, and I did have a check up
recently and some stuff are good. But my doctor did
tell me I probably could you know. The way he
said it is you've had You've probably had the best
cigar you've ever gonna have, So there's no need in

(01:40):
still chasing that cigar. And it makes sense. So I'm
the tobacco. The cigar is one thing I want to
get out of my get of my life. And uh,
and no alcohol. January, I'm just gonna start just no, no,
no tequila and no liquor.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
And my wife is completely got off the rails. I
want you to know that. And she doesn't eat anything
that has like seed oil in it or good you know,
you know her, I mean just like good for her.
We go to the market now, and she has anxiety.
She's like, you can't buy this. It's got this, you
can't buy When we get our receipt, she won't grab

(02:12):
the receipt from the lady or the person giving it
to us because she's afraid it has something, and so
she makes me grab it. Right.

Speaker 4 (02:20):
So whatever it has, you gotta take the fall.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
I gotta go. She makes her own laundry detergent. She
makes her own mayonnaise. You know, she makes her own
stuff because it's just healthier and it doesn't have a seed.
To be honest with you, it just tastes.

Speaker 4 (02:35):
Like crap to three things on my own, I do
like good. I make my own juice. Alex and I
we talk about this all day long. I started juicing
about a year and a half two years ago. Helped
me lose a lot of weight too. But I don't
purchase any type of juice that from Martinelli's Apple juice
from the store. I don't purchase like minute may very
fine sugar. It's all sugar. It's all sugar, and I

(02:57):
love that stuff and it's not everyone does.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
That's what I love it.

Speaker 4 (03:00):
That's why Chopo Canna still sell juice because people drink it.

Speaker 5 (03:05):
At it.

Speaker 4 (03:05):
Listen, if people didn't like Coca cola, Coca Cola wouldn't
be able to sponsor Bowl games. Right, people still drink
that stuff. There's one thing. I started making my own
salad dressings once I figured out how simple it was.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
My wife does that does?

Speaker 4 (03:17):
I love making my own salad dressings. I can make
an avocado, I can make one that's spicy, I can
make one that's sweet. I can make zesty. I can
make a vinigarette for you. I make my own salad dresses,
and I make my own sauce. Is my own barbecue sauce,
my own Oh yeah, I make my own barbecue sauce.
I've been doing that for like four years. Like my
own Terioki sauce, things like that. I like my own

(03:37):
spaghetti sauce. I will stew my tomatoes down, blend them,
then put them back in the pot and slow slow cooking,
and then season it with my tiny seasons to make
my I make my own spaghetti, so I don't buy
jars spaghetti sauce. So those three things I make on
my own, on my owners.

Speaker 3 (03:51):
A former San Francisco forty nin er, I can't remember
his name, and he does boneless rip ribs, and he
did it so well. RB's I believe bought him out
or partnered with him. He used to be a member
of the San Francisco forty nine ers. Once he retired,
he got into looks I've rihanna looking up for somebody

(04:14):
looking up former San Francisco forty nine er and he
got into grilling the cook that forestre who.

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Out here with these bonus who out there? We speaking
of bonus ribs? Are you? Have you ever seen the guy?
Have you, guys, ever seen the guy that grill? Like
you know? He slowly cooks his ribs, then stuck a
toothpicking like a popsic state, dipped it in a corn
dog batter and fried that bad boy. Oh my dog, well,

(04:41):
just just picture the best most tender like rib you
ever had with corn dog fried breading around it with
a nice with the sweet and spicy aa lea sauce
on it. Just imagine that od man. I almost wanted
to fight him, it was so good. I said, I know,
damn well, you didn't make nothing this damn good. Oh wow,

(05:02):
you you need your rump, You need your rump kick. Yeah,
Mark mcmillion million. No it's not him, No, no, I
can't wonder he no wonder he had to start a
cooking career.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Yeah, no, no, Yo, we don't remember from his playing day.
It was a former player. Maybe he wasn't San Francisco,
but he was a former big player. Yeah, and he
uh he did the Boneless Ribs and the Rby's teamed
up with him. Maybe one of our listeners could send
that into us on Twitter at big Vanilla funny album
Baker that's it. Yeah, yeah, there you go, there you go.

(05:38):
And he must be doing real well now because he
you know, he did the you know, the.

Speaker 4 (05:43):
Ribs parties bought him out.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
Man.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
That's a nice paycheck right there. You hate a prodate
game and create something and when the big boys don't
want to compete with you and they come throw it
by out, they throw a big till you take that
check and you go invest and you do something else.
That's not how people get rich.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Shark to RBS and Shark Tank.

Speaker 3 (06:00):
Oh is that what it was? It was on chart Time. Yeah,
there you go. Yeah, that's that's where they got looked done,
all right.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
VJ.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Husky, Arndy Spaniard we got a lot going on. VJ
will kind of put it into college. We'll just say
quick little thoughts on what happened today. Miami wins it
of Ohio State twenty four to fourteen. Ryan Day's got
to be beside himself for Ohio State fans have to
be beside himself. Look, they were a ten point favorite.
You don't lose games when you're a ten point favorite. Yes,

(06:26):
Miami's a good team, but Miami always scored seventeen points.
They got seven on the pick six. If Ohio if
you told Ohios State you can hold them the seventeen points,
they take it every time. I don't think they've given
up twenty points all season. Their offense just wasn't getting
it done, saying I mean he was throwing a little bit,
but they couldn't run the ball. They got down fourteen

(06:46):
to nothing because of the pick six. It wasn't a
pretty game, but they had plenty of time to come back.
It was seventeen fourteen as we were starting the fourth
and they just couldn't get it done. They couldn't do it.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
Yeah, I'm not gonna beat the you know, dead horse
at the same stick man. Yeah, already say anything to
say about Ryan Dave. So I focus on the games
on this one great job by Marty Crystaball. Like I
said this front seven on defense, it's ferocious. He's a
great coach. He's a great hold on say that word again,
he's a great coach. Exactly. When you're a great coach,
you win this game, even being a ten point underdog.

(07:18):
Even being a ten point underdog, you go in in
some way, somehow pull this game off. And if you
go back and you look at the press conference of
Ryan David a postgame presser, you know there looks I've
seen this before, man, like I've at the end of Goodfellas.
Guess what Harry still does. He still snitches on Paully
Sister Row and Jimmy Conway. He still snitches on him.

(07:39):
And want you want the ending to change because you
want Harry to show his loyalty, But him and Sammy
the Bull Gravano were both snakes and rats at the end.
It doesn't change. And this is the type of story
that doesn't change. But Marty crystal Ball, congratulations to the Kings,
not just one, two college playoff wins. So great to
see guys like Ray Lewis and Warren Sapp and Michael Irvin.

(07:59):
And this is a team that just has like that
type of history where those guys feel so strong about it.
They're the first double seeded college team in the College
Playoff to make it to the semi finals, right exactly,
No double seed has ever done it before. They're the
first ones. And now they're gonna see whether they played
Georgia or Old Miss. And like I said, look, I

(08:21):
like Carson back. I always have. I think he can
be a second or third round pick.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Someone asked us if he was gonna be a top
ten pick. I'm like, I don't even know if he
was going to be a top four or five round pick.

Speaker 4 (08:31):
To be come on, he see, here's the thing. If
I have a team in the NFL, and now, now
I'll say this as fast as I can. If I
have a team in the NFL, I got a running back,
and I got you know, some receivers. I got a
tight end, and I got a pretty good defense. And
let's say we were seven and seven and ten. This
year we were eight and nine, and I'm in the
third round, and I know I but and I have

(08:53):
some questions at quarterback. Just to get the ball moving
towards the future, not saying he's gonna be the starter
right away. Guy to take a look at Carson Bak.
He's a guy that's won. He has over what fifty
games played in college, so he's got experience. He's played
for Marty Cruz.

Speaker 3 (09:08):
He was a blackup though in Georgia, and he played
and it doesn't matter though he was part of those
teams he played on the Kirby Smart he got that knowledge.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
It doesn't matter what he was. He was there though,
that's what's gonna matter. And they were on their way
to another national championship until they got hosed out of
a host out of the top four the year that
Michigan went on to win it in twenty twenty three,
So he was right there. Georgia lost one game that
year and fell from first to fifth and that fourteen playoff,

(09:37):
which was some bs and I always thought it was
from the get go. So it wasn't like he didn't
produce there. I just think he's a guy that plays
within the system tonight nineteen or twenty six, and that's
what you want from your quarterback. One thirty eight, didn't
turn the ball over, didn't fumble didn't have a costly pick.
Takes care of football, and this defense man will be

(09:57):
able to show up. Whether it's old missing Georgia, I
hope is Georgia. Could you imagine Carson Beck having to
go against his.

Speaker 3 (10:05):
Old How great is that?

Speaker 4 (10:06):
How great is that? Like you just said, the coach
that had him sitting at the backup position for two
national championship, Now I gotta go through you to get
to the national championship. I can't.

Speaker 3 (10:19):
You couldn't have a better script than that. A matter
of fact, we said three games tomorrow. First one is
gonna be at noon Easter. You're gonna have to get
up early, my friend. I know we're gonna be working late,
but four year old, yeah, you're up early. You're never sleep.
You don't sleep. Oregon's at two and a half point
favorite matter of fact, VJA. It had been three earlier
in the week, but had been staying at two and

(10:41):
a half for most of the week. It hasn't really moved,
so I don't know if that means late money gonna
come in. I doubt it because it is the first game,
and that means it's gonna be nine o'clock Pacific on
the kickoff at your time, newon Eastern over under a
fifty and a half. I said this earlier when I
was out with Plank on Monday. I've well, if it's
a coin flip game, I wouldn't be surprised if Oregon

(11:03):
won by a field goal or if Texas Tech won
by a field goal. I'm a big fan of more
of the quarterback for Oregon. I believe he's special, so
I don't think he's coming out Texas Tech. Oregon will
be over the fifty and a half. But I'm gonna
go with the Ducks in this one. See if they
can win it by more than the field goal. As
long as the spread is under three, I think they

(11:25):
wouldn't the shootout though Texas Tech has a lot of
offensive weapons. They could keep up with Oregon. But you know,
have they faced the defense as good as that Oregon one?

Speaker 4 (11:35):
We'll see what happens in this Well, has Oregon faced
the linebacker crew as big as as good as Texas
tex linebacker crew? Two NFL guys and one guy's going
in the first round. So this game right here, First
of all, what's the over under? You said fifty and
a half? Give me the under this is gonna be
a physical, fistfight. I like Dante more and if he

(11:57):
came out, you can argue he could be the number
now pick if he came because Mendoza, we're gonna I'll
make up my mind on Mendoza. Great height, I know,
but after tomorrow, let me see him against Bama's defense tomorrow.

Speaker 3 (12:13):
Is that fair to judge on one game though?

Speaker 4 (12:15):
You know it's the cap of what I've seen. This
is the cap. But I've watched him all year long.
I saw what he did in cal one year, he
got sacked forty two times. He's running for his life
at Capra. I know that I followed his kid. I
know exactly what it is about it, who he is.
He didn't, he didn't jump on my radar this year.
I follow football, I cover the sport, so I know
exactly who he was. But I want to see in

(12:37):
a big moment. I don't know if that Big ten
championship game was a big moment, right, but this is
it right here, Rose Bowl Quarterfinal, a berth to the
final four Heisman winner, like all ods this ratings tomorrow,
This game could get twenty million. This game could get
twenty five million, that's that's that's l are NFL numbers, NFL.

(12:59):
Those are the NFL Christmas Dayton rights. Right, you know
what I'm saying, Like this game tomorrow starting new, like
you said, nine am from but starting new the.

Speaker 3 (13:06):
Oregon Texas Tech is the one that starts at noon
Eastern Alabama Indiana, Indiana.

Speaker 4 (13:11):
I'm sorry, Yeah, that's how I won. Yeah, one pm.
But still that game tomorrow, because like you said, everybody
wants to know about this kid. There's a lot of
people that didn't watch Indiana. They get on air, get
on TV, or get on ready like they've been talking
and talk like they've been watching this kid. He ain't
been watching Indiana. Because you keep just talking about him.
You're forgetting about these two receivers. He throws to this
running game, he has that defense that's over there in

(13:32):
the Indiana's on. They're very physical and they're a smart
football team.

Speaker 3 (13:36):
We're gonna get just finish the Oregon Texas Tech. Though,
which one you're going on that one side? Give me
Texas Tech in this one, man, Now, you liked Alabama
to win straight up. You said that earlier in the show.
At first I would have said, nah, I'm not buying that,
but what a great victory was over Oklahoma or was
out in Oklahoma collapse? And I kind of agree with you.
Indiana has not been pressed this year. I'm more to

(13:57):
take the points, but if I was gonna go with
the upset, I'd probably take Alabama. But was it plus
two hundred so you're getting two to one odds. I'm
not bad for Alabama with the straight up win there
when you.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
Give me Bama right here, man, I just I just
I just think that they have guys on this team
that have been there. Some guys left when Saban left,
But if you remember, just two years ago, this team
and a lot of these players were in the same
Rose Bowl playing against Michigan that night, right with Jaylen
Milroe at quarterback. So they know what this is about.

(14:30):
When Indiana got going this year and they're you know,
their coach has done a great job coming over from
JMU out in Virginia where I'm from. Remember he brought
like twenty seven players with them. These kids ain't never
played in nothing like what they're gonna see tomorrow, not
at JMU. They ain't never played in nothing like this.
That haven't been in a moment and everybody's gonna be
looking at one guy. We're watching this game to simply

(14:53):
look at Some people are gonna be looking at sim
because there were so many people gonna look at Bama
over there. But we're all trying to see is this
Heisman Trophy winner, this Mandoza. Hey, we already know who's
probably gonna have the number one pick in the NFL draft.
They need a quarterback as bad as anybody else in
the NFL. The guy up in the front office that's
leading the way is the goat of quarterbacks. Trust me, man,

(15:14):
there there are millions of eyes on this guy tomorrow.
He's not a kid, he's a growing ass man, and
I just think it gets a little heavy for him.
Doesn't mean he can't be the number one pick, but
as for tomorrow, it's gonna mean a lot. And just
give me Bama's defense to rattle him a little bit
and make one more played in Indiana's offense.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
I was listening to the Odd Couple. Rob Parker was
making the case about Kirk Signetti, the head coach at Indiana,
saying he's not that great of a coach. He just
spends a lot of money in the nil because Cuban's
giving him money. I guess a lot of the rich
alumni giving him money. He's spending up to over sixty
million dollars. I'm Michael, those are the rules. What do

(15:54):
you He's just playing by the rules here. And there's
other big time SEC school Michigan, big ten schools that
are giving them money. Also. That doesn't make it many
of us of a coach there vg to be honest.

Speaker 4 (16:08):
No, And I love Rob. I've just seen him before.
He was on the odd couple. We just crossed paths,
hugged aft up, Happy New Year, Happy holiday. I would
ask him how many Indiana games if you watched from
beginning to the end, because they were pressed this year? Though, Well,
I mean, yeah, okay, so who's undefeated Indiana? Who hasn't
lost the game Indiana? Who's been to the one see Indiana.

(16:30):
That's not all money, that's not all money. There's SEC
schools that's been spending money for years, going seven and five,
going eight and four. You want to tell you we
want to go back to Mississippi State out off for
Cam Newton's dad. Four hundred thousand dollars for Cam Newton
when he was coming out of Blaine College after getting
kicked out of Florida? Do we want to that was
four hundred k. That was over fifteen years ago. But Arnie,

(16:51):
think about it, though, brother, that's over fifteen years ago. Yeah,
and half a mill half a meal was on the
table for camp. Don't think it makes you know, it
doesn't make any him less of a coach. He's a
good coach. How many coaches have tried to resurrect Indiana's program?
Do we want to go down that list? Who's the
guy that did it? I mean, come on, and I

(17:13):
thought he was going to leave.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
He could have easily left.

Speaker 4 (17:15):
You know that he could have easily left. But you
got some kind of brewing right here coming from JMU.
You take this gig, ride it out right now. Listen
if you win it, right, if they win it this year, bro,
see mits your feet for at least the next five
to seven years. See mins your feet right here, because
you'll get better recruiting. You'll get some more recruits. You'll

(17:36):
still listen. Next year they may go nine to three,
they may go ten and two. Next year they got
some kids returning.

Speaker 3 (17:40):
But all that said, though, we're going with Alabama with
the upset here though, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:44):
Just for tomorrow, for tomorrow. I think Bama's defense makes
one more play late in this game. I think it's
a close game.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
They got a looking in Oklahoma game. Let's be honest.
It was Oklahoma collapse just as much as an Alabama comeback.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
I just think Alabama just punched them in the mouth. Man,
I do I just in football, you can just tell
when some teams get punched in the mouth. Some teams
can react to it and some teams can't. And Oklahoma
was that team this year that was up and down.
Even though they were winning games, they weren't winning games.
And you ever thought, Wow, this is one of the
best teams in college football. Did you ever think that

(18:20):
about Oklahoma all your life?

Speaker 2 (18:21):
No?

Speaker 3 (18:21):
But I thought they were a good team. But they
did have problems off cantruggle and their quarterback was her too.
Remember he was out for was it one game and
then came back early from surgery. There's no way he's
one hundred percent. But I understand.

Speaker 4 (18:34):
Yeah, but you feel what I'm saying, but listening. But
think about the way you just said that. Yeah, I
think they're good, are good, They're a good team, right,
I didn't think don't win National champion. Good good teams
don't win playoffs.

Speaker 3 (18:44):
I think Miami is a good team. I don't think
they're a great team.

Speaker 4 (18:47):
I see that's the thing. I think tonight they proved
they're a great team that has a great coach.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
Well, we'll come back, we'll go over the old Miss
Georgia game, and then we got to get into the NFL,
my friend, but stop stop duck in the NFL, which
you please, Let's get to you.

Speaker 4 (19:04):
Are you know I'm mad at you to play a
Dolphin fan? You are you already?

Speaker 3 (19:07):
Not?

Speaker 4 (19:07):
We go?

Speaker 3 (19:08):
We got a lot of NFL to get to. All
that's coming up next, of course. VJ Husky Arnie Spaniard

All right, good evening everyone, VJ Husky, Arnie spaniaring for
Jason Smith and Mike Carmen here on Fox Sports Radio.
Still raining out there. I asked for the Alabama Indiana fans,
what do you think, bj and will it affect the game?
Will you just go under forty eight and a half
because it's it's rating so bad?

Speaker 4 (20:19):
Well, they did it? Drop the forty eight and a half.
I thought you said it was fifty.

Speaker 3 (20:24):
It was fifty and a half in the Oregon Texas
Tech game. Oh, Oregon Tech forty tech. Yeah, give me that, Yeah,
forty eight and a half. On the Alabama Indiana.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
Give me forty. Uh, gimme gimme under on that.

Speaker 3 (20:36):
And well, right now it's not gonna it's not rating
as hard now as it's supposed to.

Speaker 4 (20:42):
Ring Lamar, I'm looking at it right now. No, tomorrow
is ninety I told you already, man, it's ninety nine percent.
It's ninety nine percent to hide tomorrow sixty two. The
low here in LA is going to be fifty four. Now.
Pasadena's colder because it's a higher elevation than even where
I am in the valley of Sherman Oaks and Sino

(21:02):
right behind like Hollywood, I'm on the backside of Hollywood Hills,
which is literally seventeen eighteen minutes no traffic to downtown
Los Angeles. Rights, yeah, I mean depends on what night.
It depends on what night, what lane you're in, right,
I'm a left lane driver, and I don't know anything
lower than seventy anything below seventy, I'm pissed. Get out
of my way. I got stuff to do. But right now, look,

(21:25):
I'm sorry, not ninety nine ninety percent chance a precipitation
and rain.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
I think that plays sty Alabama. To be honest with you,
I really don't know.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
Whoever's going to run the ball and keep the ball
on the ground and be able to pound the ball,
who doesn't turn it over? But at some point, don't
you think you want, man, those that have to put
the ball up don't you think there's some type of
pressure on him to show, you know, his arm to
get the ball out of his hands, to get the ball.

Speaker 3 (21:51):
If I'm having trouble with the running game and if
Alabama has everybody in the box because it is raining,
then I'm gonna have to do something about it. We'll
see how it works out, and we'll see how the
rain is. I know you say ninety percent, but they
say it's really really going to come down. It's going
to affect the offenses. It could be one of those
ten to seven games. I guess we'll have to see
how the weather's going to affect it. I want to

(22:13):
get to Ole miss in Georgia in the Sugar Bowl.
Georgia now is six that point favorite. They were down
going get to the fourth quarter of the first time
these two teams met Mississippi. They have a new coach
right now. How is that going to affect them? How
do you see a game like this? And by the way,
over under fifty five and a half in this game

(22:34):
here over crazy over.

Speaker 4 (22:38):
I think Georgia, Yeah, I think Georgia puts it on them.
I do. I think Georgia puts it on them. I
think Georgia wears them out. I think Georgia. I think
Georgia beats up on them tomorrow night. I really do.
Old miss. Look, you beat Tulane for the second time
right this year, both times scoring over forty points on Tulane.
You don't have your coach.

Speaker 3 (23:00):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (23:00):
I think it's gonna affect Shambless the most in this
game at the quarterback position. For oh, miss, I like
that kid too. I wish you to opt it out.
And I thought he's gonna opt out and then uh
transferred to l s U talking about quarterback. Yeah, And
he also pulled that did you see the A T
and T commercial? It was perfect because Steve Hartman and
I end Zone rady on Sundays here.

Speaker 3 (23:22):
I do like him.

Speaker 4 (23:23):
I thought that I bought that up. I said, man,
this guy, this guy's opting out and then the commercial
came on like two days later. But I just I
think Georgia.

Speaker 3 (23:31):
Yeah, I would take him over Beck, to be honest
with you, but that's beside the point. You would take
Shambless over Beck, Yeah, I would. I think he'll be
eventually a better pro. But I'm that's.

Speaker 4 (23:41):
Yeah, No, no, it's not. It's the topic of hand, we're
talking quarterbacks. I'm just I do he would be better
than back down the line as a pro.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Yeah, I like him.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Awa would be much better as a pro down the line.
But like the great Tom Brady once said, you gotta
know how to develop a quarterback. Like, if you don't
have developed a quarterback, none of these guys are going
to be anything. But anyway, give me Georgia. I think
George is hungry. I think this team. I think this
team is the best team in the nation. I think
Georgia even though they you know, they've had some slip ups,

(24:13):
I still when I put the tape on every level.
On defense, they got NFL speed guys, they got big guys,
they got smart guys on the office side of the ball.
They can run, they can pass, they can protect the passer,
they can rush the passer, they can do everything. Remember
they're the three seeds, so they're top three team in
the nation.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
I wonder if we're gonna get more upsets. I feel
like Alabama's going to be in this thing. Morgan, Texas
Tech no real upsetters. The line is under three and
the only other one is Mississippi, who, like I said,
had in nine point league going into the fourth quarter
the first time around against Georgia, so anything's possible though
their team is at they had a.

Speaker 4 (24:49):
Nine point lead. But did they win the game? Oh no, no, no,
but they lost. Just giving you the background, I got you,
but to say, well, you know, anything's possible, Okay, Well
they can have another fourth quarterly and end up giving
it up again. But I just I just think George's
primed little upset that they haven't been able to hang
more banners than the two they already have. This defense.

(25:10):
It looks like Kirby took a few years for him
to kind of rebuild his defense after losing all of
those NFL guys plus Georgia's defense. Do you know what
they're giving up the last like five or six games,
ten points a game, can't score against him because not
excuse me, not Layane, excuse me, I'm thinking of the
old mess. But Kirby has rebuilt this defense. He's got

(25:31):
these young guys coached stuff. Remember and go look through
the NFL right now. How many Michigan and Georgia defenders
are on teams wreaking havoc in the NFL From the
previous four or five years coming out of college from
Kirby Smart from Jim Harbaugh, it's about fifteen of them, okay,
and you got to replace those guys and rebuild the

(25:51):
young guys. We're seeing it with Michigan, We're seeing it
with Georgia. Georgia's done it a little faster. Michigan had
a lot of noise with the coach and stuff, but
I think that'll change going into next year. But now
Georgia now started to bring some of those freshmen and sophomores.
Those guys are juniors and seniors now, and I think
they stein it as I want to pick a blowout.
None of these all these games are not gonna.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
Be close, right, someone's gonna be someone's.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
Getting there ass handed to them tomorrow. Seriously, someone's getting
there at natural ass handed to them tomorrow. And I'm
gonna take this game. Give me Georgia by two touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
Wow. Yeah. Now if Georgia wins, did you mentioned they'll
play Miami in the next round in the Fiesta Ball Bet,
going up against his old team and the Georgia Bulldogs,
and the winner of the Alabama Indiana game will take
on the winner of Oregon and Texas Tech. So that's
what that will be in the Peach Bowl and that
will be on the ninth.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
So I got Bama will be moving on in to
take on Texas Tech, and I'm also taking Georgia. Will
then be moving on to take on Miami. My final
four is Bama Tech Georgia.

Speaker 3 (27:01):
Do you I think in our contest at work, I
have Alabama playing Georgia. I think it's who I am
in double check. I have to I have to check
to see uh at Alabama.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Go to the finals though, So who do you have
winning at all? Before this all started? I haven't talked
to you since then. Who do who did you take?
The who'd you pick? The weight at all?

Speaker 3 (27:24):
I believe I took Georgia, So did I?

Speaker 4 (27:27):
Yeah, Yeah, that's what I think. That's what I put
on the h the contests and just other pools I've
been in and other shows that I've I've dropped in
on and been on. I mean, I just I did defense,
man defense and running the ball. It travels anywhere, Arnie.
It's the oldest additive of football. Man. If I can run,
I can run. If I can play, I can play deep.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
All right, we got to get to some NFL that's
coming up next, and there's a lot of movement. We're
in the final week, we got the playoffs around, got
some seating that needs to still get the finalized in
the playoffs. We'll get to all that, but first let's
check out what's trying with Manci Bolanos.

Speaker 5 (28:02):
Hey, guys, happy to be hanging out with you tonight,
but we're gonna start with the upset of the night.
Ten seed Miami defeating two seed and defending national champion
Ohio State twenty four to fourteen. What's crazy is that
the Hurricanes turned the ball over in the red zone
on their second drive of the game, but then turn
things around. They shut out the buck guys in the

(28:22):
first half and had to pick six. Carson Beck only
threw for one hundred and thirty eight yards and a touchdown,
but it was enough. The Hurricanes are headed to the
semi final. BJ You're not gonna want to hear this,
but Arch Manning put on a show at the Citrus Bowl.
He threw for two hundred and twenty one yards two touchdowns,
also rushed for one hundred and fifty five yards and
two touchdowns as Texas defeated Michigan forty one to twenty seven.

Speaker 2 (28:45):
When it comes to the NBA.

Speaker 5 (28:46):
The Spurs were down nineteen and came back to beat
the Knicks one thirty four to one thirty two. Victor
Ie Banyama suffered a slight hyper extension in his left
knee early in the fourth quarter, but initial tests came
back negative and showed no major injury. Good news there,
so he ended with thirty one points and thirteen rebounds,
while Julian Champagni, I.

Speaker 4 (29:07):
Think he's always says his name.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
He had eleven threes and he ended with thirty six points.
The Nuggets survived one oh six to one oh three
against the Raptors as Brandon Ingram's gain ty in three
at the buzzer was overturned after video review. Paolo Bancaro
hit the go ahead shot with about seven seconds left,
and the Magic defeated the Pacers one twelve to one ten.
Ben Caro ended with twenty nine points and ten rebounds.

(29:30):
The Hawks topped the Timberwolves one twenty six to one
oh two. Warriors over the Hornets one thirty two to
one twenty five, where Steph Curry dropped twenty six points,
while the Cavs snapped the Sun's four game winning streak,
coming out on top one twenty nine to one thirteen,
and the Wizards edged the Bucks one fourteen to one
thirteen despite thirty three points and fifteen rebounds from Giannis
Ante Tokompom.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
Happy New Year, guys, back to.

Speaker 3 (29:52):
You, Thank you, Monsie. Happy New Year. By the way,
for over forty years, tyrak It's been helping customers find
the right tires for how one and where they drive.
It shipped fast and free, back by that, free road
hazard protection with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation.
It's tire rec dot Com. The way tire buying should

(30:14):
be all right before we go to the games and
stuff like that. BG I do have a major problem
with the NFL. They screwed this weekend off big time.
You got two games on Saturday that mean a whole
heck of a lot, almost to the point where the
Panthers and Buccaneers might not meet so much because the
Falcons one. We'll get to that later on. And then
you got to see the Sunday night game the Ravens

(30:37):
in Pittsburgh. All the other games on Sunday or the
weekend absolutely meaningless summer for seedings, so I shouldn't say
they're all absolutely meaningless. But even the ones that like
the Chargers, they're gonna be resting their players. They don't
care where they're seated. The NFL screwed this up. You
gave us two on Saturday and the Sunday night. This

(30:59):
is the world Week eighteen I've ever seen in my life.

Speaker 4 (31:02):
You know, No, it's not Saturday night because Saturday night
there wouldn't have been nothing to watch because college football
is over. Only guys like you and myself for watching
the NHL and the NBA. Right now college basketball, my
tar Hills are sitting at thirteen and one after beating
up on Florida State right now with Caleb gonna probably

(31:22):
be the number one or number two overall picking this
one and done year with my tar Hills. But this
is beautiful Saturday. We get two games that are for
the division. We get two games that are for the division. Yes,
what they did for Sunday and they destroyed No, they
didn't destroy Sunday because this is after the holidays, this
is after New Year's this is after Christmas. There's been

(31:45):
so much with football and bowl games and NBA and
college football and all this stuff that last Sunday, you
actually can go run some errands if you need to.
You know, they pick up a gift card, you can
go spend the gift card you got for cribs. Just
make sure your asses back home for.

Speaker 3 (32:03):
Sunday night, baby, because but doesn't want that though.

Speaker 4 (32:09):
I don't think that we eighteen they cared, dude, people
are still going to watch.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
They do care. But you see, that's why years ago
they decided to go to conference or division games for
the end of the year. Like the last two two
to three weeks, you get divisional games, so the games
could be meaningful. Now, is this something we have to
fix or is this just a one time thing. I
haven't think it's a one time thing. It's just like

(32:34):
a perfect storm. Who would have figured out we'd have
so little races going on, especially in the wild card.
I love wildcard races where there's like three spots six
teams and the other three don't get in. We really
didn't have that, but we had divisional races. But you know,
when we don't have that, I feel it takes away.

(32:56):
I don't think the NFL really has to adjust the
schedule though. I just think it was a one time
bad year and we'll just get back to normal next year.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
No, I totally disagree, because if all three of these
games were on Sunday, they would no one would be
able to watch them all because they'd be regional. But
being at these two or on Saturday, everybody's going to
watch them. Both these games will draw twenty million viewers,
both of those games because they're for divisions. Then Saturday,

(33:27):
like I said, you get your normal regional stuff. On Sunday,
you get your normal regional games. On Sunday, you get
your last look at So it doesn't matter if people
are still gonna watch, aren't he That doesn't matter nothing.
They did the right thing. Just hear me out. They
did the right thing. Think about it, brother, think about it.
The two games that mean something on Saturday, if they

(33:48):
put them on Sunday, they wouldn't get the viewership of
those games because they would be regional games.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
You could put one in the ear. You could put one, No,
you could know you can't you can because like one
game last week was distributed to like one state in
the entire country.

Speaker 4 (34:03):
But then you can do that in the last week though,
if other local teams have that region, you can't run
that game in that region, like they wouldn't been able
to run all those games out here on the West
Coast because you still got to play that Chargers. You
still got to play the Chargers Broncos game. So you
can't run the Falcons and Panthers game out here at
that one twenty five.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
You can still give it to ninety percent of the country.
So what I'm saying, which is what happened, like in
the in the Raiders game, it went to like one
percent of the country, just the regional that's all it is.

Speaker 4 (34:33):
It wouldn't be ninety percent. But would you rather have
let's just let's just say for S and g's Yeah,
would you rather have sixty five percent of the country
or one hundred percent of the country to have access
to the game? I much rather have one hundred percent
of the country have access to the game. So let's
put it on a Saturday. Let's make it a double header.
That way we get every That means everybody gets to

(34:56):
think about everybody gets to look at price Young.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
Then what about the white Then what do you have
to do about the schedule to make the other games meaningful.

Speaker 4 (35:02):
What do you mean the other games meaningful? You have
to give me a game you're talking.

Speaker 3 (35:05):
About the Saints and Falcons, no meaning the Browns Bengals,
no meaning, the Cowboys, Giants.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
And one of those games. One of those games all Sunday,
all right, So then there'll be regional games and everybody,
like I said, you'll be able to just relax and
not have to flip around and figure so much out
on a Sunday. But what they do at the end
of Sunday night, what's the last game?

Speaker 3 (35:27):
We got one meaningful game, yes, Ravens right, and it's
the national night game that everybody's gonna have access to watch.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
The three division games. They gave access to the entire country.
How is that not the right decision?

Speaker 3 (35:44):
It wasn't the right decision because it minimize the early
Sunday action. We don't have to Betefact will come back.
I know she's telling break money here, We'll come back.
We'll finish out the I will finish out the schedule.
If you have a comment on that, certainly tweet us
Big Vanilla Funny. I'm it Steiker Genius one right here
on Fox Sports Radio. Wow, the show just flying by VJ. Husky,

(36:07):
Arnie Spaniard in for the guys tonight, Jason Smith and
his best tread Mike Carbon right here on Fox Sports Radio.
By the way, how many people are just gonna be
gluted home to those two Saturday games. And they're both
good games. And like I said, I the NFL has
come out and said they wish they had more meaningful
games on week eighteen.

Speaker 4 (36:26):
Yeah, that's not that's my point that though. Yeah, I
wanted to go back to this because I'll be honest
with you, and I love you brother, just what you're saying.
Because the whole commercial break, I'm like, okay, let me,
let me maybe I'm missing something. So once again, let's
go to Saturday, one thirty my start four thirty year
start out east, out out east. But fact here one
thirty Saturday afternoon. Great time. I'll be just getting home
from my son's piano lessons and the most start school

(36:48):
of music. Sit on the couch, crack me open a
sandwich and the beer, and watch the game. All right. Cool?
So we're right here Carolina at Tampa for the division.
Then later on the West coast out here eight five o'clock,
eight o'clock your time, five o'clock out here, Seattle and
San Francisco, not only for the division, but for the
number one seed. Two teams to defy design, decide uh

(37:12):
divisions and playoff matchups. We want the nation to see
now Sunday, Houston, Indiana nothing. One team's not in the playoffs,
but Houston's still playing for playoff positioning as far seeding.
Dallas and Giants nothing, Cleveland, Hey, Chador versus versus Joe Burrow. Okay,

(37:32):
the Saints Falcons nothing, green Bay, Minnesota. Green Bay still
playing for something. That game means something. Tennessee and Jacksonville.
Jacksonville is still playing as far as playoff seeding is concerned.

Speaker 3 (37:45):
So if those games are so important, that's why you're
gonna put one of those games on Saturday and move
these Seattle San Francisco to Sunday. Was like you said,
everybody's gonna watch it anyway, whether it's Saturday years but.

Speaker 4 (37:55):
They can't give it its own window for the nation.

Speaker 3 (37:58):
But your misic is I'm gonna answer that ninety nine
percent on Saturday does not even equal more than eighty
percent on a Sunday.

Speaker 4 (38:07):
You understand what they're not gonna give they don't. They
can't give you. Yes, they can.

Speaker 3 (38:11):
They just came out with last week's number. A couple
of the games went to ninety percent of the country
on a Sunday.

Speaker 4 (38:17):
I know that's because they ran so many games during
the Christmas week, Arnie. Three games was on Christmas Night.
Then they had two Saturday games, so by the time
we got the Sunday, there was only seven games on Sunday. Right,
But they can put it to a big no no, no,
you were able. No no, no, that's not I'm sorry, brother,
that's just not correct, because it's very correct. You have

(38:37):
to look at the you have to look at the demographics. Okay,
So for instance, the Colts in Indiana game, so that's
in Houston, right, But then you also have the Dallas
and the Giants game, so that's two Texas teams playing,
so they have to split the state of Texas right there. Okay,
that New York area is gonna get that game because
the Jets don't play until later, so they can't give

(38:58):
it to the rest of the nation of give it
to more donation. Because in the Great North we in
like the Great Lakes area, you got the Cincinnati Cleveland game.
So they have to run that game all through that area,
not to Mitchie Green Bay, Minnesota, so they have to
split that area. They can't take those games their contractually
can't do that.

Speaker 3 (39:18):
You're gonna tell you because I don't. We only have
half here in New York where I'm in Connecticut. Also,
we have two CBS's, two Foxes, so we can get
double the game, so we don't have to get stuck
with one game. So we're That's the way it is
for a lot of these major cities that have that,
like a New York, a New Jersey, a Connecticut and
stuff like that. But I could just pull up the map.
We could do that next hour and show you which

(39:39):
games go to which part of the country, so you
could see how it goes to eighty eighty five percent
when we're in a week seventeen in the week eighteen,
they don't.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
I can find that. I can do that, and that's fine.
But what I'm telling you is they don't block out
local teams just to show it up. They don't.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
But we have two though we have two CBS's here,
I'm explaining, I know we have both see the half
the game, and we'll see a good game.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
I get that, but that's not the most in the nation. Though,
the most in the nation doesn't have two CBS's and
two Foxes for you to do. No, but they don't
have a team like in South like in South Florida.
Like think about it. Later that day, our Dolphins are
at New England. They're gonna run that New England game
all through Connecticut, all through Massachusetts, all through Vermont, all

(40:20):
through New Hampshire, all right, and then they're gonna run
it through all of South Florida.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
I'll tell you two. Three hours are in the books.
Butt's everybody back off. Three hours in the books will
come off with me, Arnie back off. We got a
lot of the games to get to I have I
had so much. Also, we have to go through week eighteen.
All that is coming up next. If you want to
get in at Big Vanilla Funny, I'm a stinking genius one.
Do you like the schedule for Week eighteen here on
