(00:57):
and I love putting this contown out for you single night.
And speaking of content, the Dodgers may be finding a
way to turn Clayton Kershaw's last start in Dodger Stadium
in Theory into a w down two to one to
the Giants in the bottom of the fifth inning, they
play four to give the Dodgers a five to two
(01:19):
lead over the Giants. Otani hits a three run homer
to make it four to two. Mookie Betts follows with
a solo home run. So again, Dodger lead the Giants
right now five to two, top of the sixth inning,
and now it's just can the Dodgers ride and hold on?
And look, this would be a This would be sort
of a doubly sweet win for the Dodgers, right because
(01:40):
Kershaw doesn't go five innings because he threw eighty six pitches.
They don't want to kill him because they may meet
him at some point, which is a big topic we'll
get to in a couple minutes. But he gets the
ovation after the strikeout of Rafael Devers, and he comes off,
and he comes off the mound. It would have been
really difficult for Kershaw to walk off and his last
start be a lost of their most hated rival. But
(02:02):
for the Dodgers now a three run lead in this game,
not only they win this game, Hey, it's great for Kershaw,
but this might put an end of the Giants playoff hopes.
Is losing this game, they would be four games out
of the final playoff spot with eight games left to go.
That's why tonight and tomorrow for the Giants Diamondbacks are
absolutely huge games. The Reds have stayed in it with
(02:24):
another win over the Cubs. If the Mets and Reds
tie for that final playoff spot, the Reds get it
because the Reds on the tiebreaker. But things now getting
interesting with the Padres losing again. Now the Mets are
only three games out of that spot right there, so
a lot of stuff at play here, but clearly this
could spell the end of the year in a great
run for the Giants. If the Dodgers go on to
(02:44):
win this game.
Speaker 4 (02:45):
Go on creating all sorts of chaos, right he comes
out of the game. There's the long ovation, there's Magic Johnson,
there's Matthew Stafford again, all the handshakes, nine fives, whatever,
But you're down, get out of.
Speaker 3 (02:58):
The inning and move on.
Speaker 4 (02:59):
And then with in the bottom of the fifth the
O Twani opposite field home run the electric. Earlier this week,
we were talking about the passing of Robert Redford, went
through all the shots and sequencing of the natural and
it's just one of those things. He's round of the
base I'm like, all right, it's like one of those
baseball movie kind of faded kind of things, like he's.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Not going on a loser tonight. Now.
Speaker 1 (03:24):
The thing is, look, and this is why we talked
to This is such a big deal because Clayton Kershaw
best left handed pitcher that I've ever ever seen. Right,
And I've been watching baseball for the better part of
fifty years. Right, I've seen the end of Steve Carlton's prime,
and I saw Tom and Tom Glavin and Randy Johnson.
Kershaw is better than all of them. He is much
more dominant in an era that is much more hitter friendly.
(03:46):
And to say, okay, but yeah, he's scheduled to pitch
again next week and you have the playoffs. Okay, Now,
in theory, that's great, but just think about this. Yes,
he's scheduled to pitch in Seattle next week, but you
know where the Dodgers are gonna be at this point
next week.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Maybe they have the division clinched, maybe they don't.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Maybe Kershaw pitches, maybe he doesn't, because well, we want
to rest him and keep him as as as as
ready as he can.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Be for the playoffs. Okay, So but what about the playoffs. Well,
is he gonna start? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:16):
You know you're you know, Blake Snell's your number one
starter now right after the game this past week, I'm
in the game.
Speaker 3 (04:21):
I got it.
Speaker 1 (04:21):
He is your number one starter in the playoffs, right,
you know, Yamamono's gonna start and Otani's gonna start.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
Do you have room for that fourth starter?
Speaker 1 (04:29):
Maybe maybe Kershaw starts, but maybe it's it's a case
of hey, wait a minute, man, we're down, or we
gotta go back here, or the bullpen has gassed, or
who knows, Like I'm sure you will see Kershaw pitch again,
But is he gonna start?
Speaker 3 (04:42):
Can you plan in this?
Speaker 1 (04:43):
You're gonna have to wait and see maybe a two
and a half inning or two and two thirds innings
relief outing is what you're gonna get from the rest
of the way, Like that really might be it, because
you don't know how the playoffs are gonna unfold. After
the first two games of a playoff series, everything is
up in the air.
Speaker 3 (04:57):
You don't know what.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
You don't know where you're gonna be, You don't know
what your bullpen has thrown, what they're gonna be, like
who you can trust? So yeah, in theory, I feel
pretty confident that Kershaw was gonna pitch again. But can
I tell you he's gonna have another start. Can I
tell you he's gonna have another start the regular season
or playoffs? I can't tell you that, man, I really
so that's why tonight was such a big night to
enjoy again the greatest left handed pitcher I've ever seen
(05:19):
eighteen years calling it a career, this was big to see.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
It's been a fun run.
Speaker 4 (05:24):
Certainly, there's guys that have had their blips on the
radar left handed, and look, I have to celebrate c. C.
Speaker 3 (05:31):
Sabathia.
Speaker 4 (05:32):
Remember when he went to the Brewers and pitched every
other day.
Speaker 3 (05:36):
I mean, yeah, that was great. Who could do that?
Speaker 4 (05:38):
That arm was gonna fly into the third deck eventually.
And then obviously you know me and my love of
Chris Sale when he was a member of the White
Sox back in the day. But when we talk a
longevity history, I mean there are a few guys now
for the Dodgers rotation. You also have the fact that
you're riding a pretty good streak. And I hesitate to
even talk it out loud because we seen Tyler Glass
(06:01):
now have great moments and then disappear on you with injuries.
But three straight quality starts against his opponents with him right,
the Diamondbacks, Rockies, Giants. And so when you're looking at
you know your rotation setting up, there's one other name
that comes into the mix where you know and then
you have Otani as your fourth and then figuring out
(06:23):
do I need a fifth? Which of these guys end
up serving us better come the bullpen as we go,
And depending on where the standings are towards this point
next week, that can also determine whether Kershaw gets another
spot on the bump or not.
Speaker 1 (06:37):
See, and that's where I'm gonna go this way with
you on this all right, think about this for a second. Yes,
it's a little bit tougher to piggyback Otani because of
the whole situation with his spot in the order, right,
But you could do it right, you could figure it out.
But I would say, if you said to me, Okay,
what's the best chance of seeing Clayton Kershaw pitch again? Yeah,
maybe next week, But I'm not gonna go crazy saying hey,
(07:00):
because the Dodgers have it clinches, is Kershar really gonna
pitch like or is he gonna go out there? Is
it worth it to go out for two innings or
is it Hey, we're gonna keep your arm live for
another week.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
But I told you this the other day.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
You're gonna start seeing teams do something that the Mets
have done in the last week or so, and it's
and it's it's gotten the point where they're you know,
they're gonna do it again because it worked out great.
Their starting pitching is awful, right, They're relying on three
kids that that the Mets brought up from Triple A
in the last couple of weeks, and they've pitched great.
Right of the ten starts that McClain and Sprote and
(07:33):
Jonah Tong had, none of them have been good none.
And McClain looks like he's one of the best pitchers
in baseball for the next decade.
Speaker 3 (07:41):
So that's worked.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
So what they did is is piggybacking Clay Holmes and
Sean Manea. That worked, right, Clay Holmes going four innings,
Manea going the rest of the way. Look, you save
a beliagued bullpen and you're not asking these starters to
go three times through the order.
Speaker 3 (07:59):
That's worked.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
And don't think Major League Baseball teams haven't seen that
and they're gonna go. You know what, piggybacking guys is
the way to go. I'll tell you the next time,
if I had to bet money, I would say Otani
and Kershaw piggyback start is the next thing we're gonna see.
That's if I could say, the next time, we're going
to see him out there, because clearly you're not going
to piggy back with your other guys, because Blake Snell
(08:20):
you want going deep into games, and Tyler Glasnell can
go deep into games. Y'am, Momoto can go deep into games.
But you know you're not getting that with Otani, right
you know that, Hey, how many indies can you really
have him go? You want him to go five strong innings.
That's a great thing for you right now. Yeah, maybe
he can go longer, but you don't know how it's
going to be in the playoffs, and generally guys don't
go that far. But I would say the plan of
(08:41):
Otani piggyback with Kershawn the playoffs, that's what I would
bet on.
Speaker 4 (08:45):
Yeah, it just becomes the curiosity of with all those
arms because now you're healthy right now. You got a
bunch of these starters back, which was the issue early
in the season, and now we're looking at the bullpen
that got overworked early on in the struggles they've had
of late for Dave Roberts in the front office trying
to find that absolute balance. I would be remiss if
(09:06):
I didn't point out. You know, you joked and laughed
at me when I pointed out the Clayton Kershaw batting
bobblehead from twenty seventeen the McLain his hottest rookie card,
your guy from the Mets because he was a two
way player coming up.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
It's him hitting, is the card? Everybody?
Speaker 4 (09:28):
Oh suremote numbered signed versions of that are flying off
shelves and are hot auction items. They're like, why the
hell's he gotta bat in his hand? He's like, well,
let me tell you a story. Clayton kershawn knew Matthew
Stafford and this guy used.
Speaker 3 (09:42):
To hit exit out of outa Fresca exit swollen dumb.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
Jason Smith Mike Carmon Live from the Fox Sports Radio studios.
All right, now, one other thing for Kershaw tonight right,
because this is a big thing and this is something
where I always hope big business will do the right thing.
I always hope that they understand that, uh, Clayton Kershoff
final start of his baseball career is a celebration of
the sport.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
Maybe we talked about we talked about this last night
of his career. Yeah, we talked about that.
Speaker 2 (10:10):
Right.
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Well, well you don't know, right, beat over. But it's
a big thing, right, it's a big thing. It's last
start at Dodger State and big night tonight. People got
probably got home and said, wait, why am I turning
on Spectrum Sports net and and just seeing a replay
of the Dodgers nineteen eighty eight season. Why an MLB network?
Am I getting the Diamondbacks in the Phillies?
Speaker 3 (10:27):
Why?
Speaker 1 (10:27):
I'm oh, that's right, Apple TV Dodgers is the game
this week? Why couldn't And I say this because this
is about celebration the game, and this would be a
bit great for Apple TV. Apple TV could have made
this game. But they do You tell me they couldn't
strike a deal with MLB network and Spectrum Sports the
(10:48):
local Dodger station here in LA, where hey, we'll allow
you to carry our broadcast. Right, everybody wins because fans
in LA get to see the game, don't have to
worry about I do if I have Apple TV. I'm
not going to spend money to have Apple just for
this start and the rest of the country can tune
in MLB Network and get Clayton Kershaw's last start. Because
(11:08):
it's a celebration of baseball.
Speaker 5 (11:10):
Right.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
This is not Hey, here's a big game and oh
baseball fans would like.
Speaker 3 (11:13):
To see it.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
There's a difference if if tonight you had you know,
the Mets and the Brewers or the Yankees and the
Red Sox fighting. You know, it'd be different if that
was that's just a big game. This is the end
of a career where you're talking about celebrating the sport.
You couldn't figure that out. You couldn't say, hey, we'll
let you you know, take you have to take our broadcast.
Though you take our broadcast, you can have the game
and everybody wins. Right Apple TV, it's a basically it's
(11:37):
a commercial for their product and maybe people watch you go, hey,
I really like their broadcast.
Speaker 3 (11:42):
I like this.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
I realize if I want games like this, I have
to get Apple TV. It's one game, it's one game
that they could have struck a deal with to say, hey,
you guys, take our game. Spectrum Sports. That would have
been happy as hell because again, you would have been
seeing it on their air. They would love the ratings.
They would love that same thing for MLB, MLB Network
and Apple TV.
Speaker 3 (12:01):
Again, it's it's a it's a.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Three hour commercial for our product. You're getting the you're
getting the Dodgers game. You're getting Clayton Kershaw's final start
of his career. It's a celebration of him. Everything we've
seen over the course of the game is something that
should have been made available to the widest audience possible.
Speaker 3 (12:16):
They could have struck a deal like that.
Speaker 1 (12:17):
We see it all the time, and I don't know
why that didn't happen like that. That would have been
great for baseball fans to be able to see something
like that. I mean, I know, maybe I'm a Pollyanna
and I live in a world where all of it,
but I really think they could have got that done.
Speaker 4 (12:31):
Mike, I can't wait until we do contract negotiations. Jason said,
I could have some of his because it's good for
all of us if that happens. See say what I
did there, No, like all all of it, and I like,
I like where you're.
Speaker 3 (12:44):
Going with this.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
There's certainly a lot of wins that could be had
for Apple, for whomever else they would partner up with
to grab whatever. And that's the other question is the
overall demand. Certainly in Los Angeles, everybody who's looking for
a log in or their local watering hole that would
be carrying it this evening. I don't even know what
the carriage rights are for an Apple TV broadcast.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
At a bar.
Speaker 4 (13:07):
Certainly we've had all the fights with Direct TV for
NFL purposes and other items through the years, but this
is one where it would have been very easy for
Apple to just say, hey, we don't need anything beyond
your email address, whatever, Come log in, and then while
you're surfing and whatever on their dental app or a
website that they designate, guess what data collection. Baby, let's go,
(13:30):
and maybe you convert some folks because they see the
MLS ads that you got, or they won't get inspired
to get on board the new edition of the Morning Show,
or here's two minutes of severance or some ted lassoisms
or lead Tasso, whichever one you want to promote there
all of that to say he didn't even need to
partner out with anybody else. Right, you could have just
(13:53):
done it internally and opened that door, the old well,
for lack of a better analogy, the old drug dealer analogy.
First taste is free and we got you in. Whether
you ever come back, I mean, I don't know. Maybe
maybe it's not compelling enough, but at least for one night,
you have the all right on an event level, right,
(14:14):
I must see event of Clayton Kershaw's start. We garnered
an audience of X so the advertisers all made out
getting in front of that many more eyeballs, and there's
a bunch of tales that you can tell that way,
And you would have made the game available for free
and not necessarily had to do last minute rev shares
and whatever else with the other parties involved. No, you
(14:35):
keep all that information and cash in.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
House exit out about a Fresca exit Swallen Dome. You
could have figured it out, right, You could have figured
that out and everybody could have got to see it.
Speaker 3 (14:45):
But hey, you know what, why know, I'm just they
paid a lot of right fees. Smith. If you liked
it that much, you'd buy it. We'll have more baseball
on the way.

longtime friend of the show, the owner, editor, proprietor of

college football, all the picks, all the prognostications, all the analysis.
(17:30):
He's on Twitter at Pete feu Tech. It is Pete Feutech.
What's happening, man, How are you?
Speaker 5 (17:34):
I'm doing all right? You know, it's getting fun.
Speaker 7 (17:37):
Tonight was kind of fun. Some interesting you know games happening,
and yeah, it's been a weird year so far, and
it's gonna get weirder tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (17:46):
Yeah, I mean, I kind of like the weirdness. I
kind of.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
I mainly I like the fact that some teams that
have been it's always better when the when the heritage
programs are better in college football, and clearly we're seeing
Hey maybe Florida State, Miami USC all these hits. Hey
maybe they're all for real, which is which would you know,
be a big balance out for the fact that Arch
Manning is no good?
Speaker 7 (18:09):
Yeah, that's kind of crazy. Well, the part of the
problem is nobody's that good. I mean, like, you know,
it's you know, Ohio States, Ohio State. But are they
really number one. Well, it's only because they beat a
Texas team which obviously has issues. You know, Penn State
we still don't quite know. You know, Florida State has
the one game, Miami is looking strong, but there doesn't
(18:32):
appear to be that one killer team left yet. Like
like again, last year, you knew Ohio State just was it.
We don't have that yet. So it's gonna kind of
play itself out, obviously, but there's a lot of weird
twists and turns along the way. You know, Georgia looks
vulnerable against Tennessee and you know, but the real fun
(18:52):
part about this year is more than last year we
have it. It's really about the schedule because man or
some teams getting a big break, and then there's the
Oklahomas of the world.
Speaker 5 (19:05):
That just get a murderer's row.
Speaker 7 (19:07):
So you look ahead of some of these slates. And
that's why late last weekend when col is able to
slip by Minnesota, oh who cares, you know, ended at
three o'clock in the morning on.
Speaker 5 (19:17):
East Coast time.
Speaker 7 (19:18):
Well, you know, look at the rest of the cow schedule.
They're going to be favored in just about every game
except maybe Louisville. They can get by Boston College down
the road next week, And all of a sudden, you've
got cal who might be like SMU this year and
be like eleven and one or ten and two. You
look at, you know, just teams across the book, Iowa States,
even though you know they're you know, play for the
(19:39):
big COLT championship games, their schedule all of a sudden
looks really easy because teams like Oklahoma State are now
free space games. Teams like UCLA game is a free
space game. So all of a sudden, these schedules are
starting to open up a little bit more than we
thought they were.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
All right, d because you know, selfishly we watched the
Big ten actual scoring Iowa Rutgers today. But Illinois and
Indiana getting together, Illinois number nine with Altmeyer under center,
first time they've played together ranked since nineteen fifty.
Speaker 7 (20:10):
Yeah, that's this is not your typical you know, dame
for these two, at least for you know, Indiana. I mean,
Illinois used to be really good back in the day,
but I don't get the national attitudes for this game
because Indiana is favored by a touchdown here Illinois is
better and I'm not you know, I know these teams
(20:32):
inside and out. I'm kind of not seeing why other
than that it looks like a bunch of Indiana people.
Speaker 5 (20:39):
It's you know, we call it the Michigan bump.
Speaker 7 (20:41):
When all you Michigan types wake up in the morning,
you're like, Oh, I need something else to you know,
make me some more happy about Michigan. They all bet
on Saturday mornings and crank up the wine. I think
that might be what's happening with Indiana here. But you know,
it's a good Indiana team. I don't think it's quite
as strong as last year. This is a strong, strong
Illinois squad. It's got all the experiences, got the coaching.
(21:02):
It's a fascinating game where I will be shocked if
this is not close until the end. But this is
one of those games where you know they're not the
winner of This is not Ohio State or Penn State
or Oregon.
Speaker 5 (21:13):
It's not in that category.
Speaker 7 (21:14):
But you look at the schedules ahead for these two
and you know, the winner of this it might be
ten and two and be right in the next of
the college football playoffs.
Speaker 3 (21:22):
All right, Pete. Big Game of the Day, Top twenty
five teams.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
You got unbeaten, Auburn, undefeated, Oklahoma, who's feeling great. Matier
is potentially the Heisman Trophy favorite right now.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
How do you see this one?
Speaker 5 (21:35):
Yeah?
Speaker 7 (21:35):
The only reason Matiers the Heisman Trophy favorite is Fairer.
Speaker 5 (21:39):
I mean he just you guys saw him against Michigan.
I mean he's okay? Is he the guy? Is he
that good?
Speaker 2 (21:46):
So far?
Speaker 5 (21:46):
He's gonna get his chances because you.
Speaker 7 (21:49):
Know, you look at those games Oklahoma has left. This
is the easy one. This is the layup game for
the Sooners with.
Speaker 5 (21:56):
The rest of situade that they've got left, because man,
is it brutal.
Speaker 7 (22:00):
Yeah, I don't think that Jackson Arnold's gonna be able
to get it done. I mean, I'm not buying into
Auburn quite yet. It's been a while since the huge
Freeze team has been anything special, So I don't think
Auburn's going to have anything to pull this off. So
Oklahoma should win Materia. I think it's gonna be fine again,
like you said, because there's no one out there right now,
(22:20):
because nobody's really seen Thomas Casiano so yet, and people
haven't gotten on the train yet with Carson Beck.
Speaker 5 (22:27):
Yes, the tier is going to get.
Speaker 7 (22:28):
Hyped up, but then reality's going to hit kind of hard.
I think for Oklahoma pretty soon with what's coming next
to that schedule, Pete.
Speaker 4 (22:36):
As we look at the slate, I mean, one of
the games that stands out, Jason. I will yell about
it a little bit later on. But USC back into
the top twenty five heavy favorites at home against Michigan State.
Are you buying in.
Speaker 5 (22:49):
USC a little? I'm not buying Michigan State.
Speaker 7 (22:52):
I just you know, I was actually at the game,
like I told you last week, I was up there.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
I think that team's not very good. It's they don't
have lines.
Speaker 7 (23:00):
USC has the killer pass rush, They're a little banged up.
The Michigan State is gonna get some of those key
pieces back, like they're star receiver Nick Marsh. But I'm
gonna buy in just for tomorrow that this really super
late game. I mean because again, think about it. You're
starting this game at eleven o'clock in Michigan State time,
you know, so it's gonna end late for them.
Speaker 5 (23:21):
I think USC.
Speaker 7 (23:22):
Pulls away and people start to start to get in
their heads.
Speaker 5 (23:26):
Oh yeah, maybe USC's pretty good.
Speaker 7 (23:28):
But yeah, that the offense is starting to click like
it's supposed to, and at the very least the defense
is attacking. It's not a killer defense, but it's good
enough to be a real bother in the Michigan State backfield.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Ptefutech College Footballnews dot Com with us Jason Smith Mike
Carbon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Okay, so
tomorrow a game that we should see Notre Dame get
into the win column. I have be favored by twenty
five against Purdue, but I'll tell you, Pete, I know
their schedule is easy the rest of the way, but
can you really league start zero to two and make
(24:01):
the playoff like it's It's one thing to say, hey,
they can run the table because the schedule is easy.
It's another quiet thing to do that over ten plus
weeks in a row.
Speaker 5 (24:10):
Yeah they could. Really, It could just as easily be
two and er right now.
Speaker 7 (24:13):
You know there but for a you know, a miss
handles on a you know, an extra point and you
know missed fourth down stop. They beat Texas A and
m they were right there laid against Miami. And the
thing to remember about nor name, going back to the
beginning of last year. Those are two of the three
best quarterbacks they faced, because Tyler Shug was got talent wise,
(24:35):
the best quarterback.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
They faced last year.
Speaker 7 (24:37):
They have to feel tains King of Georgia Tech, Marcel
Reid and Carson Beck. Those are real quarterbacks that they
had to face.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
It's probably better college wise, and Drew Aller and definitely
Will Howard.
Speaker 7 (24:48):
So and that's those guys are good.
Speaker 5 (24:50):
And they've got.
Speaker 7 (24:51):
These two great offensive lines Miami and Texas. A and
m have first rounders on the offensive line. Miami may
have two top ten picks on the offensive front and
so and they were right there. They were really close.
I mean they lost close enough to where being oh
to really shouldn't matter. But now you got to come
out and just thunder dunk on everyone for the rest
(25:11):
of the way. I want to see what this team
really can start to do because I had a kind
of an.
Speaker 5 (25:17):
Inkst thought this all off season. They were looktting a
little bit.
Speaker 7 (25:20):
Too you know, media savvy there, the movement out there
a little bit too much. A friend of mine who
you know, calls him Marcus.
Speaker 5 (25:28):
Ditka because you know, after the figure, he took every
single possible.
Speaker 7 (25:33):
Media opportunity to get out there and every single sort
of yeah, the way to get is, you know, get
to promote the program. But now now you'll see him
buckle down. I think you're going to see the real
Notre Dame starting tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (25:44):
All right.
Speaker 4 (25:44):
I love the headline for the article you wrote about
this game. Forty seven is the total North Carolina at
Central Florida getting seven the battle of the coaches front
and center. But can North Carolina straight string together another
win and maybe get us back into the consciousness beyond
dancing with the stars scrabbles.
Speaker 7 (26:05):
And there's another team where if you look at the
North Carolina schedule, if they can just get their stuff
together already, they've got a very, very favorable schedule the
rest of the way. And UCF I'm not there yet.
They had an easy first couple of games, but look,
you know, Scott Frost, it's Bill Belichick. These are two
(26:26):
accomplished head coaches. But you know, look they're Bill Belichick's not.
Speaker 5 (26:30):
Here if they didn't have three losing seasons in.
Speaker 7 (26:32):
The last four years of New England and Scott Frost
isn't here, if it wasn't such a miserable failure at
Nebraska so you know, let's see what these guys can
do it to whateverbody's gonna be focused on. I don't
think either of these two do anything in their respective conference.
Speaker 5 (26:45):
Races, but we'll see how who's who's there faster.
Speaker 7 (26:49):
And for North Carolina just there, they should be better
than this. You see, after the completely build they lost
so much.
Speaker 5 (26:56):
So Scott Frost gets the.
Speaker 7 (26:58):
Free pass for this year, but Dolichick brought in sixty
new players.
Speaker 5 (27:02):
But they should be way better than they've been so far,
especially defensively.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
All right, Pete, you know you mentioned really briefly a
few moments ago, but I see, you know what if
I had to look, if you wanted to make the
conversation about who the Heisman front runner should be right now,
it's not just about stats, but it's about.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Impact with the program.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
And you look at Carson Beck and Miami seven touchdowns
so far, they're three and oh, they're ranked fourth in
the country. To come in after the number one overall
pick in the draft and maybe to make your team
even better than they were a year ago. Like that's
something from Miami, like of all these teams, like that's
the team I'm buying.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
That is back the most out of the ones we
talked about.
Speaker 5 (27:41):
And it's not next week.
Speaker 7 (27:43):
I think it's two weeks from now when we get
Miami versus Florida State, because I was like everyone forgot
Florida State, which I'm not a styles of percent buying
into yet, but they handled Alabama without any.
Speaker 5 (27:57):
Sort of an issue. And that's because Thomas Kessi those
who you know, was kind of running his mouth all
off season all we got and he was right. He
was he be cash that check.
Speaker 7 (28:06):
He was great against Alabama. And so if he can
blow up against Miami and they get that win, or
if Carson beckets excellent and they get to win over
that Florida State team that beats Alabama, then all of
a sudden, there's your Heisman race starting to kick in.
But there there really isn't a front runner out there.
They're just again, if Matier actually could light this up,
(28:27):
because again, if Oklahoma is great and he's wonderful against
all these great teams as soon as.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
I have to play against, then the Heisman race is his.
Speaker 7 (28:35):
I just don't really see it quite yet. So the
our Heisman front runner has yet to really emerge.
Speaker 1 (28:43):
You can fall on Twitter at pete few Tech. That
is at Pete few Tech. College Footballnews dot Com is
your website one stop shopping for everything college football. Pete's
gonna have eight hundred words tomorrow on Steve Vangeli, leading
passer in college football, goes for four.
Speaker 7 (29:02):
Right, it's one l or two every time. I know it,
like twelve times in the last week or so.
Speaker 1 (29:10):
But you just you just gotta say, it's peanut butter
and jelly.
Speaker 3 (29:14):
That's all you had to worry about. Peanut butter and jelly.
That's what it is. See now, you prompted the other thing.
Speaker 4 (29:20):
Right, But what about your coach threatening to beat people up?
Speaker 5 (29:25):
You know they'll tell some fun tomorrow.
Speaker 7 (29:28):
Don't wing the ball round against Clemson, and.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
There'll be an interesting press conference if they do.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
As always, Buddy enjoyed the games, man, we'll talk to you.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
Yeah, that match up fun right in a way. He
does or doesn't do things. Your coach saying, if you
come after my guys, you will find me. It's just
next level stuff. Get him in the octagon.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
No, you know what, here's the thing I feel. I
feel weirdly good about that game tomorrow. I know it's
tough it's gonna be hot. It's Death Valley, It's and
I've seen Syracuse play well for three quarters down there
before and just absolutely gack it away. But now they
have a great quarterback at number one passer in the country.
Right picking up where Kyle McCord left off, I have
(30:11):
a pretty I have a weirdly good feeling about the
game tomorrow. Now I'll start out there on fourteen nothing
and that'll that'll change everything.
Speaker 4 (30:18):
But you know, yeah plus seventeen and the over under
is fifty four.
Speaker 3 (30:23):
You fly through that fifty four, don't you? Oh?
Speaker 4 (30:26):
One hundred, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I've that just seems
like a given. Your guy Beck is the currently off
of one odds board that that I'm looking at as
a slight edge as your heisman favorite. So some money
coming in this week backing you. Maybe it was you,
No man, I like Bete.
Speaker 1 (30:45):

Double dagger For.
Speaker 1 (35:02):
The Dodgers the giants would fall to four games out

Get in this would kind.
Speaker 1 (35:12):
Of do It For, san francisco but still three outs
left to Go and, dodger bullpen so you.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Know it's still. Out there oh you just had to
say that four. Letter word i'm just. Being, Realistic well
I'm just i'm JUST doing i. Don't know your toad
was very cutting.
Speaker 4 (35:29):
AND jarring i gotta so like you were foreshadowing a,
Horror film like what are? You DOING like i was
in the in the theater and it got dark and the,
trailers started and the voice comes over to tell me
how miserable life's. Gonna be that's what you did when
you said the. Word bullpen how dare you?
Speaker 3 (35:46):
JUST say i gotta?
Speaker 1 (35:46):
Be realistic, ALL right i gotta be REALISTIC for I

left More On.
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Clayton kershaw we have big conversation from coming up next

Speaker 3 (35:56):
This game but.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Obviously it is a Big, football friday and we're gonna
spend a lot of time the next hour plus breaking
down all the big games IN, the nfl and look
one of THE biggest i, mean Clearly If tom brady is,
on it it's a big game and he's gonna get
all the inside information On the cowboys And the bears
and just.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Blab To chip Kelly And.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
PETE carroll i gotta look at all this inside INFORMATION
that i got, that, Nobody Well kevin burkhart's, got it
and you kind of have it if you, watch FILM but.
Speaker 3 (36:24):
I got it if you, need, It UH and.
Speaker 4 (36:27):
I got it wellout having to get into. The room
it was on the. ZOOM call i was able to
see that piece of paper from a. Mile away it's.
Speaker 1 (36:35):
Perfect Now and i've do this pecky pesky stuff like
showing up in a field For practice.
Speaker 3 (36:41):
Bears And.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
The cowboys first, OF all i want to, SAY this
i love the over more.
Speaker 3 (36:46):
THAN anything, i mean really and. A half, let's go
did you did you say one hundred and fifty and.
A half i'll take. The over i'll take the over.
AT that, I mean i.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
DON'T know i don't know what you could put this
at where you're gonna make me, SAY yeah i don't know, about,
THAT man I really i.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Don't know both these teams are so, horrible defensively.
Speaker 4 (37:05):
Second highest total on the board Other Than Monday night
Football with Detroit.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
And, BALTIMORE like i think this is probably more than
some of the big college football games that have, you
know like, you know one of the top ten teams,
playing it LIKE like lsu is playing What Like. Southeast
luisia the over on.
Speaker 3 (37:22):
This one is seventy and.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
A Half but i'm gonna make you, really happy unless
You think i'm, gonna Curse but i'm gonna make you.
Really happy i'll Take the bears in this game, because
yes both defenses. Are terrible cowboys can light. It up
But the, cowboys defense HOW do i?
Speaker 3 (37:41):
Say? This this this is. How bad this is how bad.
Speaker 1 (37:44):
They are there's nothing they can do that's Gonna Force
caleb williams into having a, bad game because, So Far
caleb williams has moved the ball. Well, enough look anybody
that does, Fantasy, knows hey he's one of the top
fantasy quarterbacks in.
Speaker 3 (37:58):
The, game like they have moved.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
The, football yes they blow, a lead they have week
one where they should have held. Onto It ben johnson
makes a ridiculously bad mistake at the end of, the
game with, the kickoff they get boat raced By the
lions and their. Home opener Hey, The lions Hey the
lions are. That great But the cowboys don't rush. The,
passer well they're banged. Up Defensively caleb williams is gonna
(38:21):
be able to do whatever he wants to in, the
pocket and he's gonna make plays with his legs because
he's done that really well so far this season. As
well there's Nothing the cowboys can do that's gonna slow.
Him down he's gonna have a. Big day dak will
have a big, day. Too right i'm not saying, he's
NOT but i have a little more Confidence the bears
at home can give you the couple of plays needed
(38:43):
Where the cowboys will still trying to figure. Things out,
AND remember i know you're feeling good About. The cowboys
they won last Week and dak had a. Huge Get
the giants are. Absolutely terrible they're. Absolutely terrible You Made
russell wilson look like he's got ten years left in.
The league he throws for. Four thirty he's just throwing
moon ball up deep and guys are running. Under it
And the cowboys defense is like the end Of a Wizard.
(39:04):
Of oz it's. A, Twister, aim aim where's? The Football
the bears offense. Is better they will get, it Done
and i'll give you this bonus. As Well caleb williams
finishes the week as the number one Quarterback. In fantasy
bears win, a shootout give me. The over williams is
your number one quarterback. In fantasy look, at you cause
(39:24):
and chaos. Here me i'm trying to figure out what
the weather's gonna look like along. The lakefront we got,
some wind we got. Some rain what do we got
Going on?
Speaker 4 (39:32):
Sunday afternoon chance of showers as the afternoon. Goes on
win out of south at about seven miles. An hour,
all right keeping an eye, on THAT because i really
come down, TO this i trust their kicker More, Than
Santo's oh.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
Cowboys is probably the best kicker IN.
Speaker 4 (39:51):
The nfl, so, Yeah okay dallas minus one on the
road fifty and a half being the total all of those,
points there digs back to near. Full strength so he
got one side that should be a little more. Locked
down We've Watched caleb williams. Make strides for all the,
defensive failures there's some things. To like still holding the
ball a little bit too long. At times that timing
(40:13):
and the rhythm that you're waiting on it. Takes on
he's relearning an entire new system and a way to Operate.
Under johnson as we've talked, About here donday has. Been
fantastic would expect a little bit more from the, secondary
options which you really. Haven't had zekai has, been there
one of their, top receivers which is a. LITTLE Frightening
(40:34):
dj moore eight receptions on. Eleven targets you'll see more.
OF him i would expect To see Loveland and burden
play a bigger role against. This secondary swift's, banged up
so it's moning guy will be, the yeah, that's right
a guy if you need to go and potentially pick
up in the. Waiver wire, but yeah this one a lot.
Of points i've got them both as top five quarterbacks.
(40:56):
Fantasy WISE but i do Think the aubrey addition there
is How the cowboys get the.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
W exit out About a, Fresco Exit swollen doupe for for, your,
SAKE Buddy, I holpe you're Wrong and i'd love. A win,
I know, i Know and. I'M sorry i have more
Confidence Of caleb williams than.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
You do look at YOU more Nfl And Kershaw next
fox
