That's UMGC dot edu. Didn't think we'd have a Johnny
(00:52):
Manzel story today, but we had a Johnny Manzel story.
It's pretty exciting.
Speaker 3 (00:56):
Sometimes has and turns. Ahead of a new NFL camp
for those that missed it, just joining us as the audience,
always changing, evolving, expanding. Johnny Manziel saying he wishes that
the Browns He's filled with hate in his heart and
he hopes that the Browns go Owen sixteen sixteen, missing
that seventeenth.
Speaker 1 (01:14):
Well, maybe when you're ow in sixteen, they say, you
just played that last game. Yeah, we don't need to
play that last game sow and sixteen. On the field,
on the field. It's on the field, on the field,
on the field.
Speaker 3 (01:23):
But I mean, I can understand some of that anger.
I have that where you might have people that you
don't necessarily root for in your pastor.
Speaker 1 (01:32):
And I take his exact quote where when he said,
you know, we did this story a few minutes ago
where he said, Hey, you know, am I gonna let
it go or I'm gonna carry this hate in my
heart the rest of my life? And I'm like Blake,
and I'll carry the hate. I'm like, no, I get that.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
I do.
Speaker 1 (01:43):
I completely get that. I understand that, like I want.
You know, I'm full of positivity. I love life, I
love people I love But certain times I'm like, no,
I'm gonna carry that. I'm gonna carry a few. Yeah,
carry that with me. I got a few.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
There's not an old whiteboard like we had here in
the old Fox Sports Radio studios down the hallway where
we literally had names on it.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
We did. It was like billan Addison, Yeah, except we
accept it was people who are never allowed on the
show again, right. We had The problem is they were
friends of other people, and you know that was that
was a difficult thing. We had to do a race
set after a few months. There's too many names on here.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
No, Like we had to start writing in really small
font When somebodyho sat up there, it's like, well, when
somebody came, I forget who was?
Speaker 1 (02:23):
I said, why do you Why is that person's name
in there? He goes, oh, they screwed us one night.
They were blah blah blah, and I know that person's
pretty cool. I'm like, okay, you know what, we gotta
we got we gotta not do this anymore.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
You know what, Sometimes I'm not how about that.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
Because I don't want there to be something some instant
where one of the where that person runs into that person,
like at the World Series of the super Bowl says, hey,
you know what, they can't stand you. They put your
name up on the board like you're never allowed on
the show. Get like, wait what are we talking about?
And then maybe you know, then all of a sudden,
I may be fighting Charles Woodson. I mean, not that
he was on the list, but Charles Woodson, he gave
(02:55):
me that bad handshake a few years ago that I'm
still recovering from.
Speaker 3 (02:59):
I want to see him again.
Speaker 1 (03:00):
I really, I don't want to know.
Speaker 3 (03:02):
I want to run that back. I don't look. Super
Bowl's up in Santa Clara. So the potential is that
we drive up the highway and we get up there
for a day or two, nock wood uh, and then
maybe we can have another glazier palooza like event where
Charles Woodson with the ascot and a giant, giant ass
(03:22):
glass of wine in his hand. By the way, his
wine's really good, you know, shameless shameless identification there, but
where he can stare you saying I know you from somewhere.
Speaker 1 (03:33):
Now, I'm not gonna do that again.
Speaker 3 (03:34):
No, it was great.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
No I'm not gonna allow you to do that.
Speaker 3 (03:37):
But if we can do that again, I mean, what
would that be seven years later?
Speaker 1 (03:40):
This is like, come on, This is like when I
go to a to an amusement park with my family,
my friends and there's a ride where what's it called,
it's the Killer? What does that mean? It actually kills you?
You don't survive this ride. At the end, you actually die.
Well what do they do? They strap you in and
then you will go halfway up the ride and then
your strap breaks and you go flying through the air
and luckily you get caught by this chair. But there's
(04:01):
a big spike in the chair and it goes right
through your heart and you can see the blood pouring
down your chest as the ride comes to a stop.
And you die and I go, yeah, no, I'm not
gonna do that.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
And oh, come on, come do the ride.
Speaker 1 (04:12):
It's awesome. Come do that. D go No, I'm gonna
go get a coffee while you go do that ride,
and I will. I'm gonna go look for a souvenir
or get something to eat, and I will see you
after that. I'll see you in forty five minutes after
you wait online for some ridiculous ride like that, and
I'll see you afterwards.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
Over where is that ride located?
Speaker 1 (04:27):
No?
Speaker 3 (04:27):
But any how cool would it be if we could
do that? We get somebody notable to steal your beer again,
you put it on a table. There's so much to do.
We go to the Land of Chocolate again. Remember you
taught people how chocolate was made.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Yeah, that was fun. That that was fun. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
No.
Speaker 3 (04:45):
But but the Charles Woodson thing was it was almost
something straight out of a horror No, like that was
great because he was dressed, because he had the asscot.
Speaker 1 (04:52):
Yeah, he was clean, his fit.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
Was clean, and he just stared you down.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah. And I had nothing him, nothing against the guy
I've never said.
Speaker 3 (05:01):
I mean that's what Curtis Martin was probably looking at
you in the same way, going I want this guy
let my hand.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
Well, Curtis, I just couldn't stop shaking his hand, like
like like I thought you.
Speaker 3 (05:10):
Were gonna steal the jaunty little cap Bob.
Speaker 1 (05:12):
Meeting Curtis by Curtis mom my god, my favorite football
player of all time because really nice guy. I mean,
come on, that's why, Curtis.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
I mean we met him a couple of I met
him at another.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Eventuple of years before.
Speaker 3 (05:23):
That, but then when we met him, and then it
was the fanboy moment of.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
All fanboy moments. Curtis is the best, That's why. And
then Charles Woodson hate you? Does he hate you more
or less than Oral Hirscheizer Ooh probably Oral Hirscheis are
still orl Harsheiser by think he still carries that a
little bit. Mane Oh, you're the guy that said starting pitching,
I'm irrelevant.
Speaker 3 (05:47):
I gotta be honest. When I was really hoping to
So he put out a bounty. He runs a trading
card shop, okay, legend, so they do autograph stuff and
he does signings, but they do trading cards. And he
put out a bounty because he's include it in the
Legends portion of the new Tops Chrome set, So there's
a one to one autograph card inserted in the product.
So if you pull that, he put a bounty that
(06:09):
you can come meet him, go hang out in the booth,
all this other stuff.
Speaker 1 (06:11):
It's not a boy that's like, it's a it's a reward,
well like a ban.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
They call it a bounty.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Yeah, okay, like like like you found it, Like bounty
in the NFL does not have no. No, that's not good.
I wouldn't call it bounty. I would just say, hey,
it's a fun stuff they call they call it a bounty.
I would call the prize. Yeah, in the trading card.
But he's offering experience. I was really hoping.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
When I when I opened a couple of boxes of
the megaboxes that I got that I would pull that
card and then I can take you to the booth
so we can have that meeting. You can have this card,
but look who I brought to shake your hands.
Speaker 1 (06:47):
You opened the card into place, all about it on
board your chip and.
Speaker 2 (06:53):
Turn it on out.
Speaker 3 (06:54):
You keep waiting for that Timmy L. Trumpet card that
I sent ship to start playing music too.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
So we talked about Bill Belichick last hour and in
a big thing from last night's game, showing me that
he really doesn't get college football and we'll probably fail.
Dion Sanders continues continues to not want to take responsibility
for something that was completely embarrassing for Colorado. At the
(07:20):
end of their loss on Friday, they get the ball
back with a minute two left to go, and they
got to get down the field. They have two timeouts left,
and what happens. They finished the game still with their timeouts,
throwing not one but two Hail Mary's from midfield, Like
what is going on? The play calling was bad, the
decision to not use timeouts were bad. Everything was bad.
(07:42):
After the game, Dion said, hey, you know, I didn't
want to save the timeouts either. When were we gonna
use him, didn't need to call him. We got out
of bounds on the plays needed to didn't need to
do it. Today, it was brought up again with Dion
about ay any anymore thoughts about going home with those
two timeouts in your back pocket theme, and Dion Sanders
still said that was not a big factor in losing
(08:06):
the game on Friday.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
Let's just get the ket out of the bag, all right.
First down, we throw a lateral pass, right, we lose four,
four or five yards?
Speaker 2 (08:16):
Do you call time out there? No, you're right there.
You don't call time out there. You gotta go.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
You gotta go.
Speaker 4 (08:21):
So you run a tempo right, so the next play,
what you gain? I guess fourteen yards? Whatever? Now you
got second, third and one, right, do you call time
out there? Third and one? You get the first down?
The clock stops, correct, so you get the first down.
The clock stop? Okay, he scrambled play he ran out
of bounce. The clock stop right. Now we throw the
(08:42):
ball at the end zone. Clock stop, right, So when
was the time to call time out? No, I'm just
getting an elephant at the room, Garna, you know what
you want to say.
Speaker 2 (08:52):
I'm just I'm just trying to help you, help me.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
Okay, see again, this is the same thing we said
Friday night, right after Laws. This is Deon Sanders not
getting it because it wasn't about the It wasn't about
the fact that they didn't use the timeouts. It's that
you have a minute and two seconds to get down
the field, right, So this is where you call plays
(09:16):
to the middle of the field where you can call
a timeout. If you get eight yard you can use
the entire field because you have two timeouts. And he said, well,
we ran that one play that was bad. That was
a bad play call, terrible. If you're throwing two hail
Mary's guess what, that's two bad play calls. Right. That's
when you're at the fifty yard line. How are you
not calling a play or having something to make sure
(09:37):
let's get down to the thirty. So our last play
instead of Cayden Salter throwing it up again from midfield,
is maybe a little bit more manageable, where hey, we
are trying to just you know, get thirty yards now
to get to the end zone instead of fifty. But
it was it was bad decision making. Bad decision making
by Cayden Salter right, bad, play calling right bad, not
usage of timeouts, not being able to get up, use
(09:58):
a timeout, let your team get a little bit of
you know, legs under them. Because it is the first
game of the season, and this is the first time
that these guys have seen this. Right, Hey, the last
two years, who's been running things in the show? Your
kid's been running things that Shador Sanders is a pretty
good quarterback. So yeah, I get the end of day,
all right, we get it. I get I trust the
decision making.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
We know what we're doing.
Speaker 1 (10:19):
Oh, by the way, he's throwing a Travis Hunter two
is a Heisman Trophy winner. Things are a little bit different,
and it's not just simply deon Sanders call not calling
the timeouts. It's the entire possession where timeouts were not
part of what should have been a drive down the field.
Because I guarantee you if you if you're playing a
team and they get the ball back at their own
(10:41):
twenty yard line and you're defending eighty yards, right, you
know you're defending eighty yards because that's what you have
to get. You know, Okay, we're gonna they're gonna get
down the field a little bit. So what we have
to do is we just have to make sure that
when they're throwing to the end zone at the end
of a game, they're outside are twenty, they're not inside
the five where where it's an easier touchdown. Right, we
(11:01):
got to make sure it's we're making difficult as possible
and they couldn't even get past midfield. Like this is
a whole organizational failure in that, and Dion still won't
take any responsibility for what are we gonna call timeouts? No,
it's not about that. It's about how do you not
have How are you making those decisions? What about your
decision making by your quarterback? What about your play calling
by your offense coordinator? Right, what about the fact that
(11:21):
you could have done this and you could have used
timeouts strategically to make it work. You could have seen
your player say, hey, things aren't going right, we got
to use a time out now because they have to
gather themselves. So even though it's third and eight, whatever,
Oh you get a first down, clock stops there. Okay, yeah,
but you still want to be able to use these
to leave as much time as possible on the clock. No,
(11:42):
you don't want to use a time out after you
run that first play that only gains two yards, But
guess what how much time ticked off the clock? That's it,
you know, like you can't sit here and tell me
you're not gonna do it. Then, dude, that's when you absolutely,
looking back playing Monday morning quarterback, that's when you absolutely
had to call time out when that happened. Look at
all the time that the clock is gonna hit zero
regardless to where you are on the field, right, It's
(12:04):
not you're not guaranteed to be there. So this was
a whole failure, right, And it's and and again Dion
doesn't see or he's taking the argument where this is
how I'm gonna shut the argument down. We're only gonna
look at it from one very narrow perspective of what
play do you want me to call time out on?
And not the fact that that last drive was a
big failure because it was because this is this is
(12:24):
a guy that's coached a couple of games in college football.
This is offensive coordinator that has called a couple of
done a couple of things. These are guys that have
been around, they started jettison, you know, these are these
are quarterback. Look Caden Salter transferm for liberty. This is
a guy that's played a lot of quarterback here and
and you ran that like it was a bunch of
(12:45):
guys doing it for the first time. Take a little
bit of responsibility, right, and that that's the whole thing
I think that with with Dion as time goes on,
is that boy, you know, I understand the fact that
coaches get very defensive after games, but you're not. You're
going to win a lot and you're going to win
your players over, and you're gonna win over a situation.
Calm things down by saying, you know what, my fault,
(13:06):
whether or not it was your fault or not. By
just by saying, hey, my fault, you take the pressure
off your team. You're taking the pressure off your offensive coordinator,
taking the pressure off your quarterback, You're taking the pressure off
every Hey you know what, my fault. We can have
that happen, but instead, no, I want to fight with reporters,
and I want to fight with this because you're not
gonna blame me because I had two timeouts left when
no matter how you sliced it up, that last drive
(13:27):
was awful. And take responsibility for that, because yes, you
are the head coach.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Yeah, it's bad as disjointed. There needs seem to be
no rhyme or reason in terms of trying to mount
a possession whereby you know, you get your chunk yardage
because as you say, in most defenses, you're gonna at
least gonna get a little bit of the middle of
the field to where you're getting into you know, the
maybe the thirty yard line or thereabouts. And then it's
(13:53):
it's not necessarily an easy throw, but we're not just
heaving and hoping as you end up having to do
in those final couple of plays. But that first down play,
it was a disaster, and it's tick tick tick and
saying well, we're right there. You're right there for what
you lost twenty seconds on the first down play and
now you're you're operating from a negative standpoint. Yes, you
(14:17):
get back towards uh and make it a manageable third
down conversion. But that that's you're thinking is like, yeah,
you know what, forget it. We lost four or five
on that.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
Play in a minute, but I have the field right
the team is playing, they're allowing stuff in front of
you when they're just hoping where your your last shot
is from outside our twenty in a minute, you got
to midfield. That's that's inexcusable. Just say yeah, my bad man,
my bag, we shouldn't have had it got away and
you can protect everybody and say, you know what, thing
(14:48):
this happened on the sideline. We didn't think about call,
We didn't want to do a time out here. But
just the fact how defensive he is, nothing is ever
his fault. But even if he just said our execution
in that final minute isn't what we wanted it to
be asked, Nope, done, Nope, Like they're you're not even
blaming anybody. No I'm not, nor are you taking any
blame on yourself. You just say, you know what, we
didn't XCU right. The fact that he's not even doing that,
(15:12):
where am I supposed to take that? Where am I
supposed to take that? And this is where you know,
we talked about Bill Belichick and being a guy that look,
college football is a little bit too much for him.
He doesn't get college football. Dean has been in college
football a few years and still he chose, I'd rather
fight with the media. I'd rather fight with you guys
twice over this story than just put it to bed
and move on. But I'd rather fight with you. And
(15:34):
who does that help?
Speaker 3 (15:35):
What is that really?
Speaker 1 (15:35):
Who does that help?
Speaker 3 (15:36):
Right?
Speaker 1 (15:37):
Just as microscope helps you mentally because now I got
even with you. Does that help your teams out of anything?
Speaker 3 (15:43):
No?
Speaker 1 (15:43):
It doesn't. But yeah, I'd rather. I'd rather do that.
Like there's things about college football Dion still doesn't get.
And that's what they do, just say, you know what,
we did it. It didn't go out the way we
wanted and let's move on. But he couldn't do it.
He couldn't help himself.
Speaker 3 (15:55):
Well, but we get to add into the list of
Week one guys where fourth quarter o'clock man, we either
put it in the first half column right, second quarter,
final final four to six minutes of a half, or
the final four to six minutes of a game. He's
already got his name etched in there, so we'll start
building that little plaque for him exit.
Speaker 1 (16:16):

manufacturing business. Complex Staffing your business doesn't have to be difficult.
Let Express Employment Professionals provide the workforce you need. Go
to expresspros dot com to find the location near you.
(18:16):
That's expresspros dot com. So this craziness from the Yankees
Astros game tonight, and I mean again, I go back
Baseball's and played for one hundred and sixty years. Now
you still see stuff and say I've never seen that before.
So tonight the Yankees, who have gotten hot since, you know,
(18:38):
almost getting swept by the Red Sox and maybe Aaron
Boone getting fired. The Yankees played particularly well. They beat
the Astros tonight seven to one. Right now, why is
this such a big deal? Tonight? The Yankees really broke
this game open against Framber Valdez and the Astros with
a grand slam in the top of the fifth inning. Okay,
(19:02):
Grisham knocks in a grand slam and that makes it
six nothing Yankees. Right now, here's the play by play.
I want it to set this up for you because
before this pitch happens, Valdez's catcher, Caesar Salazar, tries to
get him to step off the mount right like. Valdez
is into his motion and Salazar puts his hand up
(19:27):
and backs him off, like telling him step off the mound,
step off the mount. Now. I don't know if this
screwed up Valdez a little bit. Maybe there was something
in his delivery. Maybe he wasn't his focus because he says,
but he decides to go ahead with the pitch ye instead,
even though he's telling him stepping off. And as you're
gonna hear, well, Framer Valdez should not have gone along
with the pitch. High fly ball.
Speaker 6 (19:48):
I'll too bad back on the track looking up see ya.
Graham slam for Gresham his magical season continues, it's six nothing.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
So there was Michael Kay on the call. The magical
season for Trent Grisham he's got sixty one RBIs, magical
season for Trent.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
Magical means he's got twenty nine.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
Okay, he's got twenty nine runs. But you know that's okay,
you're hitting two forty sixty. It's not twenty nine times
where he've been able.
Speaker 3 (20:18):
To say it's high.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
It'sdeed like like like pet Alonzo's having a magical season.
You know, Kyle Schwarzer is having a magical season. The
magical season.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
Trent grisch twenty nine home runs though.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Sixty RBIs it's his fall, Yes, it is. You can't
have twenty nine home runs and sixty RBI's come on, man,
it happens. That's the worst.
Speaker 3 (20:39):
So mean, what show has got like forty eight eighty five?
Speaker 1 (20:44):
So what happens after this? Now it's six nothing, and potentially,
I say potentially, Framer Valdez is upset. So the next pitch,
potentially he purposely crosses up Salazar, who is expecting a
different pitch, and Valdez hits him in the like over
the over the heart of the plate with a ninety
(21:04):
three mile an hour pitch and Salazar clearly expecting something else.
He was set up in a different in a different spot,
and Valdez, you get some with a fastball at ninety
three and not what he was expecting, and it hits
off his chest protector and bounces away and Salazar kind
of gets up and seems a little weirded out by it,
and he throws the ball back to Valdez and it's like, whoa,
(21:27):
you see this and go okay, And you know, John
Boy Media put this out. A lot of other people
are pining on this that Valdez was so mad because
he tells him to step off the mound while he's
in his motion and it doesn't work out. He's so mad.
I purposely cross you up on the next pitch and
I hit you right in the chest with a pitch.
Speaker 3 (21:48):
But I'm wondering, like we've don't watch this like thirty
five times, like why is this glove towards the ground?
Like even if you're expecting the ball to dip, why
why is your glove position there? He's not where you're not.
Speaker 1 (22:00):
You're not expecting to catch the ball. He's not expecting that. Well,
he sets up inside and it kind of comes in
a little bit outside and hits them like like a
thump stamp. But where he's got his glove though, is
that a normal catching thing? You know, some position where
your glove is sometimes you can't get it back to
catch it. No. Well, here's the thing is sometimes catchers,
(22:22):
and I don't know if he's doing this, but I
know catchers. This is a thing where if they feel
a batter, peaks or can see where you're setting up,
they wait till the last second to put their glove
off so you can't see it. So that could potentially
have been a strategy for My glove is low because
I know that this guy peaks or sees where it's at.
So I keep my glove low until the less end
(22:43):
and then I bring it up and I catch it.
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Right.
Speaker 1 (22:45):
It's not like suddenly there's a rash of pass balls
because he doesn't get his glove up. Yeah, but he's
expecting a certain pitch, sure, right, and so and it
comes in and it just hits him like and and
I see this, and I'm like, if I'm Salazar, I
would want to go out there and fight Valdez. But
at the same time, Like, if I'm Valdez, I'm like,
what are you doing telling me to step off the mound?
(23:06):
What the hell are you doing doing that?
Speaker 3 (23:07):
That crossed me up?
Speaker 1 (23:08):
And I give up a bleeping grand slam because I
threw it off the ball over the heart of the plate.
And I gave up a grand slam to a guy
who's got twenty nine home runs and fifty five RBIs.
Now he's got twenty and sixty. Come on, man, Oh
you know I gave an extra one. Come on, man,
I mean, come out some embarrassing line. So I get
both being upset there a little bit, but I'm a
(23:28):
little bit more upset if I'm Salazar, because like, dude,
you just can't just hit me like that and come
out like I really like if that's other catchers, like
they come out and I'm gonna go, I'm gonna fight you,
and it would be here's a brawl. And I've never
seen a catcher charge the mound for his own picture.
No one's getting the way on this one. All right,
Let's see what happens. Like he tried to save him,
(23:49):
like you realize that there was something wrong in that moment.
So he calls him to step off the mound. He's
not into his wind up yet. Yeah, but at some
point when when when when you know you'rere when he's
locked in and he's ready to deliver the ball, if
you do that, and maybe you don't get to step
off the mound because if you're already moving, you're gonna
get a balk because you're you know, you're you're gonna
I thought, but either way, like, I don't, I don't
(24:11):
know that, you know, he starts a little bit that
crosses you up, like why are you telling me that?
Like what's going He's already cleared the mechanism. Man, he
was ready your cellos are you don't do that? And
I understand not doing that, but I get that that's
a mistake. And you know, this is how it should
have been. When he comes out and say, hey, my fault.
I want to sit back because that's me. I'm sorry,
I'm sorry, that's my fault. But then Valdez, you know,
(24:31):
takes a really bad situation and decides I'm gonna make
up for it by hitting the guy on purpose. Yeah,
because the other side of it is, you're supposed to
be one of the best pictures in the game, right,
like the top five on everybody's list.
Speaker 6 (24:43):
Right.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
It's like, you don't tell him to step off the mount,
so make the pitch and then flip him off he's
got Instead, you serve up a grand slam that the
guy goes opo on and it's the catcher's fault. Like that, man,
make a pitch now. They said they were spoken to
a about this after the game. Uh, it was a
topic and they both apologize for what happened, but said
(25:07):
that this wasn't something that was planned and he didn't
intentionally hit his catch. Yes, he talked to media after
through his interpreter and said, hey, listen, uh, you know
I didn't intentionally hit him with a pitch, which okay, Really.
Speaker 3 (25:20):
Is this like in a movie when the guy says, hey,
if I really wanted to hurt him, he would have
gotten hurt.
Speaker 1 (25:24):
No, Because this is where this is where if you're
a pitcher, you you say the only person knows I
did it is me. And if I say I didn't
do it, what are you gonna do? Are you gonna
say that you have no idea the intent in my heart?
Because if I could what he does smartly to get
away with it, is just I hit him, and I
stand there waiting for the ball, and I get the
ball back and I throw my next pitch because if
he does that and start screaming at his catcher, Okay,
(25:45):
we know you did it on purpose. We know you
did not.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
Really announce your say, come on in if you will, said,
rowdy roddy Piper comes in, yelligant screaming.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
But that's where, hey, give me the ball. You see
the look on his face. Give me the ball. I
got it back, and now we're getting back to playing,
like here's my here my measure of revenge for you
doing that. And this is where Salazar could go full
rowdy Piper. Not only did you embarrass me? Did you
embarrass ace? Did you embarrass your whole family? I just
I just can't get over that. This is that, this
(26:15):
is I'm gonna hit you with a pig. You know,
I know you're not ready for it, and I'm gonna
throw it and you're not gonna get it.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Well, I mean no harm, no foul.
Speaker 1 (26:23):
Right, bases are empty, and I'm not throwing it the
next batter, I know exactly a catcher. Let me take
my ketcher out, ye yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like like
like you're the you're the next batter, You're You're Volpe,
You're coming up, and the catcher goes, hey, man, better
watch out. Uh, Framber's not happy, may try to hit you,
and Volpe just says, dude, he's gonna.
Speaker 3 (26:42):
Try to hit you.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
Man, I know what you're talking about. You're the one
that moved them off the mountain. I'm gonna stand in
here and get a big swing.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Good luck, good luck.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
Caesar Salazar. Man, you may not have known before tonight,
and now everybody knows you.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Now everybody knows his name.
Speaker 5 (26:59):
Now.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Yeah, for the regular season, he's got thirteen at bats.
Speaker 1 (27:03):
Yeah yeah, that hasn't played a lot, a lot, but
you know that's a that's a catcher, okay. And there's
and and you hear a lot of like that's like
an old school catcher. Because all the baseball books that
I've read, you know, growing up, all to say the
same thing. The ones, yeah, yeah, all the best pitch
(27:25):
say the same thing about certain catchers. This guy was
blank blank blank, But man, he knew how to call
a game, and I trusted him. And the catcher used
to be someone who, hey, I'm the captain of the infield,
and if you're doing something bad, I'm gonna get on
your case. I'm going to do all of this that
doesn't play that way anymore.
Speaker 3 (27:43):
Yeah, all those guys were badasses.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
If you're throwing ninety eight, you need to be in
the right frame of mind to pitch it. And and
the catchers, Hey, I'm going to suggest I'm gonna do
this where we're on the same team here, and this
is one of those old school moves. Hey, dude, step
off the don't tell me to step off the mound, Like, really,
don't tell don't tell me.
Speaker 3 (28:03):
Don't you know who I am? Tell me to step
This is like asking Dion Sanders about his two minutes drill.
Come on, man, I think.
Speaker 1 (28:09):
Luis Terrami he's gonna tell Nolan McLean to step off
the mound. Dude, come on, man, I'm just gonna throw
my Frisbee cutter and they're gonna wave at it. All right,
just sit down, shut up, and let me throw the pitch.
Like that's not gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (28:24):
It's not gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
Do you think Will Smith is gonna stop and tell
Otani step off the mat O Toani step off, step
off man step off?
Speaker 3 (28:31):
Can he teach him how to run the bases?
Speaker 1 (28:32):
It's not gonna Hey, we'll get to o Tommi base
wenning at some point. But I mean that, but like,
I like, I don't. Maybe maybe that's a Will Smith. Hey,
hey show, Hey, what are you doing? Run those bases?
Speaker 3 (28:42):
Better?
Speaker 1 (28:42):
Man, come on, do it. Although I will say this,
I would have a lot of respect for whatever Dodger
player it is to get him and say, hey, dude,
you can't run the bases like that man, because he's
done this. Can't do that.
Speaker 3 (28:54):
Now.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
You find a way to either get in his face
and do it, or you find a way to say
it where you know it lands with out having to
make it a big day.
Speaker 3 (29:01):
They could play the Dodgers radio call bat today.
Speaker 1 (29:04):
But I mean, I I don't. I mean, that's the
all thing. I'm like, why are you Why are you
waving the bases are loaded? Why are you telling your
pitchers step up? When he thow he knew throw? So
many things can go wrong after that. The worst thing
is you give up a Grand Slam. Guess what the
worst thing happened? Then you get a then you get
a pitch to the chest. Then that you're not ready.
Speaker 3 (29:25):
For thirteen career at bats this year, Valdez twelve and
eight out of the ear three four oh e r,
a one hundred and sixty sixty six strikeouts and a
one to two whip.
Speaker 1 (29:37):
That's I mean, that's I mean, I really, I get
this is one of the it's weird sports talk raders.
I get both sides of it. I get that Salazar should,
but come on, dude, don't throw it your catcher.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
Catcher got a little chesty. Don't throw it. Your steps
outside of the box a little bit. You throw it at
your own ca I mean, you throw it at your
own cat's like something from Major League, like his own catcher.
A couple of times I had to think about Bear.
Oh no, that would have been the guy from Major
League too, would have been Berenger Bart had the bad move,
it would have been Yeah, Kevin Costner would have done
(30:09):
at Bull Durham.
Speaker 1 (30:10):
That's when catchers would talk if they did Bull Durham.
Now it would be le Loose saying, shut the blank up,
get the hell behind the plate, you lifetime minor leaguer.
Just get behind the plate. Okay, I'm gonna throw ninety
eight and you're gonna catch it, all right, that's how
it goes. I don't care who you're married to. I
don't care that you did dances with wolves. I don't
give a crap about that. I don't care you're gonna
do another sports movie. I don't care that you're getting
fired off a Yellowstone, which was your show.
Speaker 2 (30:32):
I don't care.
Speaker 1 (30:33):
Get back behind the plate. He's not married anymore either.
I don't care that you are a Russian spy in
no way out. Oh sorry, spoiler, get back behind the plate?
Great movie? How about that? Tim Robbins time how to
find out what's trending in the wide world of sports.
He really got chesty at it during his time at
(30:53):
He's been called the Kevin Costner of Fox Sports Radio
because he works here for love of the game. It's
Steve Desager very good.
Speaker 7 (31:01):
That's it done, getting chesty as in chest protector for
those who are not following all.
Speaker 3 (31:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (31:06):

Because Texas Ohio state were one two they played this.
Weekend Ohio state. Wins, yes, tea they jump and move
to number. One all of the attention from this game
(35:49):
in this weekend and college football up until this point
has been about two. Things Arch manning And Bill. Belichick
we'll get To Bill belichick next.
Speaker 3 (35:55):
Hour uh and.
Speaker 1 (35:57):
Rightfully, so because Arch manning was. Terrible it's my BECAUSE
i said On, friday what happens if he? Sucks what
does this mean for college? Football guess what he sucked On?
Saturday oh, wow oh my. Goodness, however to be fair about,
this and you, KNOW i know this is probably a hot,
take but are we Sure Ohio state is? Great Ohio
that was a bad. Game, Okay i'm. Sorry just because
(36:20):
it was the first big game of the, year we
looked forward to it. Forever it was not a Great,
hey it was, close it was. Close it was a close,
game but it was not a great. Game and in college,
football when style points mean, EVERYTHING i didn't see a
great team In Ohio. STATE i saw a team that
barely beat a team that might not be great. Itself
(36:41):
and you were at home and you won by a.
Touchdown your quarterback was not. Great you have a lot
of new moving. Parts and usually when you see, teams
really good teams with a bunch of moving, parts the
play is a little. Sloppy you see a little bit more.
Offense this game was bereft of all kinds of. OFFENSE
i Think Ohio state average two yards of. PLAY i
(37:01):
don't know that they did not look. Great they looked
like they just happened to be better Than, texas and
they were better than Arch, manning who missed a lot of,
plays missed a lot of, throws terrible. INTERCEPTION i don't
know That Ohio state is that good. Man this was
not a well played football. Game this is not one
of those WHERE i, LOOK i come off and. Go
Ohio state's defense is one of the top three defenses
(37:23):
in college. Football they picked up right where they left.
Off they're. Fantastic, Right they have individual players who were. Unreal,
Right Caleb downs is going to be a top three
pick in THE nfl. Drafting they have two of the
best players in all of college, football one on, offense
one on. Defense BUT i didn't, See, hey this is
An Ohio state. Team i'm really worried, about. RIGHT i
worry more About miami after. THIS i worry more ABOUT
(37:45):
lsu winning big games and at least showing that offensively
we can make some plays here and. There because in
the other big top twenty, five top ten games between,
teams you saw quarterbacks move the ball at least a little.
Bit and you can't tell me That texas And Ohio
state these are the two best defenses you're gonna. See. Alls,
no it was a badly played football, game but it was.
(38:05):
Close Arch manning got all the attention early on because
he wasn't, good, rightfully, so BUT i don't, know, MAN
i don't know That Ohio state is. GREAT i, mean
they won this, game and that's, awesome BUT i don't
know that they're a great.
Speaker 3 (38:16):
Team let's steal from our old Pal caliperry Succeed Emperor
seed thirty four carry seventy seven. Yards that's not even
three yards in a cloud of. Dust, Man, no that
is barely falling. Forward he was a six Foot why
you gotta drag Le'Veon.
Speaker 1 (38:34):
Bell i'm trying to think who was the last running
back we had that had a lot of carriers and
didn't gain. Yards Le'Veon bell thirty four carries forward yards
about six.
Speaker 3 (38:41):
Feet tay was.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
Better, Okay Chris ivory was fun. There, yeah, yeah because
he was a, battering, right he was a. Jugger bell was.
Done you know who? Else you, know you know who's
kind of like those, numbers those are very uh tim
High tower With washington. Numbers, boy look o. Good, yeah
Because shanhan's give him the football thirty five times a,
game got eighty nine.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
Yards, well but He's Dereck. Henry he's the last of
The i'm gonna run straight up, runners you, know if
you kind of leaned into it a little bit. Anyway but,
yeah it was not exactly an aesthetically pleasing. Game you
had the one big play To tait too catches forty nine.
Yards that forty yard touchdown that gives you. Something Jeremiah
(39:20):
smith blanketed all day, long so For Julian sayan who's
Highly harrold did prospect himself, Right because that's the funny
thing is it gets absolutely dwarfed in the Arch manning
would be. Deification we tried TO i, mean you, said
what if he? Stinks, well we talked about it in
the build up all the way. Through it's, LIKE i don't,
know the guy hasn't played in football and he goes
(39:41):
up Against Ohio. State to your, point we don't know
how good they, are but it played the script at
least for game, one. Right both defenses were expected to
be among the game's. Best we didn't see either offense
really try to open things. Up if Arch manning hits
one or two of those throws and he's not throwing
side arm like he's quizzingberry and whatever else that may
(40:04):
be out of a, completion especially especially the interception right
he leads him and gets that throw out in front of,
him that's a big. GATOR i don't know how big
you gotta make an open field. Tackle you might you
might still be, running, yeah but instead it's a tip
ball and, bad, bad bad. Things BUT i got to
imagine it gets to, uh my immediate thought watching this
(40:26):
game was That Pete futech was gonna be tweeting his
his whole idea of the warm up game every five.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
Minutes, yeah, yeah and just keep reposting that all day.
Long And Texas shirley is that we're not going to
do a game like that.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Again as much As WENN i, love you, know these season, Starters,
yeah but nobody lost badly right to where you come away, saying,
ah they were just terrible and blown out of the,
water like you, Know North carolina exit, out about Of fresca,
exit swollen.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
