thousand recommended installers ti irac dot com. The way's hire
buying should be uh so tonight. We've had a night
of quarterback headlines that have twists and turns and all
kinds of craziness about on it up. When it comes
to Derek Carr, who put out a very impassioned goodbye

(01:08):
to Raider fans earlier today, is now he's gone from
the Raiders. Right as we know, he's gone. He was benched,
he's gone. They're not paying his money. Look, we told
you a month ago. Are you really gonna be you know,
five and and twelve and give Derek Carr thirty million
dollars of course, like you're gonna go out to get
another quarterback into uh, here's where we are. So look
the fun with his accent aside which was really just

(01:31):
my goodness, did we kill that last hour? That was
so fantastic? If I didn't watch was dying it. It's
kind of like where where we're at and you know,
bring our old Golden Globes fund back in with Austin
Butler is now you go back and watch old tapes.
So you never talked like this. I don't care how
much of a method actor you are. At some point

(01:52):
you gotta leave that other character behind. Does that mean
he hasn't worked since they finished shooting? You said method actor? Right? Not.
You didn't say meth actor. You said method act. I
said method I just want to make sure, okay, very good?
All right. Yeah, that's a whole that's a whole other
level of stuff. But but just the idea that you know,
at some point after your your method uh invasion of

(02:16):
a persona and character, you move on once you got
another job for Derek Carr. Is it gonna take moving
somewhere else to where he could leave behind because people
are like trying to exclaim this is how he always
sounded like, No, no, no no, it's far more affected
as if that movie changed his life, just like it
did Austin Butler's. I mean, look, I would I want
him to go someplace where he can adopt a new accent.

(02:38):
I wanted to be like New York would be great, right,
and and Boston would be great if if Belichick wants
him to come in, it would be great to hear
him sit there and and go through it. I am
very happy to be here. Bo quimby what next? I've
always spoken like this, I don't know what you're talking about.
When I was with the Raiders, this is how I
spoke all the time. But but I thought Springfield was

(03:00):
any Springfield didn't. But here's the reality. To to get
the reality for Derek Carr here for a second again,
I was excited about the guy until I watched the
way the season ended. This is not I mean, we
have to stop treating Derek Carr is available like suddenly
Lamar Jackson is going to be available, or Justin Field

(03:20):
is gonna be available. Derek Carr is available for a reason, man.
I mean, he's not played well. He was benched by
the Raiders, who's still in playoff contention, decided we're gonna
sit this guy now. Did they want to see him playing?
Percentage come up and they still had a puncher's shis,
but they know the punches and blows that needed to

(03:41):
fall their way. They knew they were moving on. They
knew that was it, and they didn't want him to
get hurt and have to be on the hook for
his contract. I understand all this, but the bottom line
is they knew, hey, we're gonna we're moving away from him.
We're moving on from Derek Carr. This is a team
that is not good enough. We need to get better
at quarterback, and now Derek Carr is available. This is
the same the same thing that everybody fell victim to

(04:03):
the last couples all Carson Wentz is gonna be great
with Indiana. Oh, Matt Ryan's gonna be great with Indiana. Okay, okay, okay.
You know eventually there's a reason why these guys are
These are teams that know these guys the best, and
when they're ready to move on from them. What do
you think you really think the Falcons would have moved
on from Matt Ryan if they thought that that he
had anything left because they didn't draft a guide number

(04:24):
one overall saying well, we kind of have to make
the move now because we're drafting a guy at number
one and he's our go. No, they're trying to make
it work with Desmond Ritter who maybe if not, we
gotta get a quarterbacks some places else. So yeah, you know,
when those guys are gone. The Raiders know Derek Carr
the best. They're okay, was saying goodbye to him. He's
thirty one years old. I get that. People expect him
to be stafforded or to to stafford him staff stafforded,

(04:46):
Stafford stafford staff staffed stafford. All right, Oh he's the
he's the next veteran that's gonna leave his long time
team and get with a different situation. And look, everything
is gonna be wonderful and they're gonna win the Super Bowl, right,
I got I get it. The the image of stafford
ng uh, Derek Carr is out there. But this is
a guy that that again he lost his job. He's

(05:10):
not it's not like he's been to the playoffs a
hundred times. The guy's thrown one touchdown in the playoffs.
In his entire career, he's been a little bit better
than average, and now he might not even be average.
You'll know just by what the what what whatever the
the the the offers are gonna be for Derek Carr,
who's not gonna wave his no trade clause. I mean,

(05:30):
if a team shows up that he's interested in, he
might wind up doing it, but he can just wait
and pick his own team. At the end of March,
you're gonna see teams come in with offers like second
round pick, you know, because they would want to trump
jump the gun and get in front of him, because
they're gonna have fomo of not getting a quarterback. Oh,
we're gonna get Derek Carr right away. Why, there's other
guys out there, Yeah, but we might not get those guys.
We can go get Derek Carr. Now we have fear

(05:51):
of missing out on the quarterbacks. We're gonna go do it.
So you're gonna see some offers go out there, and
they're gonna be low offers. Why because Derek Carr is
kind of just a guy, right now, and it's gonna
be well, second round pick maybe, which is a it's
a good offer because you're getting a starter and and
it's you know, you're you're getting a pretty decent offer.
But it will be a low second round pick, maybe
even worse than that, maybe be a third round pick,

(06:12):
or or a third round pick or a second round pick,
and you give me back a fourth round pick. That's
gonna wind up being what's gonna be asked now again,
Derek Carr can just wait, and he can wait and
and force the Raven the Raiders to cut him and
then pick his new team. But you never know, because
the team may show up that he wants to go
to and say, Okay, this team wants me, Yes, I
I will waive my my no trade to go here.

(06:33):
I'll go there and do it. So you're gonna see
the offers and they're not gonna be that great. And
then you're gonna see his contract and it's not gonna
be that great. Whoever signs him the most, you're gonna
give him. He's gonna get his two years and fifty million,
and he's gonna get about half of it guaranteed because
they team is gonna want to be able to get
out of it. After one season to back, it's gonna

(06:53):
be stopped. It's not always the Jets. We're getting Aaron Rodgers.
I'm waiting patiently. It's like when. But because it took
so long to hear from Frostburg, I thought he must
be in the bathroom because he I can't. I can't
believe he hasn't running it jumped one. But it's gonna
be a two year, fifty million dollar contract. It's gonna

(07:16):
be one year or one in an option. It's gonna
be it's gonna be about half the money is gonna
be guaranteed. Because if Derek Carr stinks, the team is
gonna want to move on from him. He is this
close to being viewed as hey, now he's a backup
quarterback in the NFL, right, Because, like I said, Derek
Carr has been overrated for a while. He's been good,
he's been a little bit better than average on his

(07:36):
best day, and now he's back to being average, maybe
a little bit below average. Now. Teams that stink at quarterback,
I get it. I get the Jets, I get the
Steelers because if they had Derek Carr this year if
you put Derek Carr stats with the Jets or the Steelers,
these are twelve win teams and they're in the playoffs
and there may be hosting the playoff game. Right, That's
how low the bar was. That's how bad their quarterback

(07:57):
play was this year was Zack Wilson and Kenny Pickett.
But for most teams, they need a little bit more.
You need a little bit more than that. So um
to think that Derek Carr is suddenly gonna be the
big uh problem solving, he's not. And I said, if
the Jets got him, I would be excited from this
perspective of it's not Zach Wilson and it's somebody else

(08:18):
not him that's gonna be playing quarterback. So I'd be
excited about that, But I would just kind of be
excited ish, like I wouldn't be over the top. I'm
going to get a Derek Carr jersey, man, I'm all,
I'm stoked now. And no, I would be excited ish
to get Derek Carr only because my level of play
what we had a quarterback was just so unbelievably bad.
Anybody is an upgrade. But when you talk about other

(08:38):
teams in the NFL that might be interested and kicking
the tires on him. That's gonna be the offer. That's
gonna be the contract. And and you'll see the league
will tell you what they think of Derek Carr when
you see the offer, you see the situation with him
where he winds up going, the league will tell you
what they think of Derek Carr. Yeah, I truie. I'm
always confused when we start talking about, Yeah, look at

(08:58):
all the possible trade destination, like for that contract, what
are we what are we doing here? Because if you're
Derek Carr, You're like, hey, I come with everything. I'll
wait by no trade to come there, but you gotta
pay me um for the right. I don't. I don't
understand you know how it's so easy. It's like, oh,
he can go here, here, here, and here. That makes

(09:19):
all sense. And here's the compensation. Like, yeah, there's the
little little thing of um well, the contract that still
has years on it. Obviously there's an out for the
Raiders uh as you go through. But you know, we
know the league, league deals and everything, so the curiosities
are there. And for him, he's going into a second

(09:43):
decade in the league now, he gets a little bit
of help by a guy like Geno Smith that wasn't
allowed to play at all for a good chunk, and
his led his team to the playoffs, and a lot
of people that in supportive car talk about how bad
his defense was, like, well, he still only had one
thirty touchdown season. If you needed to play better and

(10:04):
put up more points. They didn't do it, did they.
They They had that one year where he was on
the road to the m v P and then well
it was broke and that was the end of that.
So I'm curious as to with the number of quarterbacks
and you can name them, rattle them all off, whether
Rogers is on the move or Jordan's love for that matter,

(10:26):
whether someone might love love No pun intended him a
bit more. Jimmy G. Brady, go on down the list,
Lamar that we talked about justin fields. If you're willing
to entertain the thought, the fact that it's being talked
about at all is offensive. The offended the sensibilities of
a lot of people. Jason, you can't have theoretical conversations

(10:47):
about what what a team would do with a pick
without offending a bunch of people. So for all those offended,
I'm not I'm really not sorry, but I'll tell you
that I am for the fact that we've had this
conversation the last couple of days. But for for Eric Carr,
where does he fit? Like we read down the list
of odds earlier in the show Indianapolis, do they really
want to do that again your jets? I know Frostburg's

(11:10):
trying to speak it into existence their plus three fifty Tampa.
If Brady leaves, really that's the guy that's gonna come
in and make it run. I suppose you have a
couple of wide receivers that that make it work. And
you would expect for net Rashade White and and company
uh in the playoffs to play well. And what happens

(11:32):
next year's for net still there and there's there's so
much going on. How what's the coaching staff look like?
If they face an early exit, there's a lot of
change to come. So Derek Carr, I love that he
penned the the tearful heartfelt Goodbye. I'm sure his brother
has retweeted it and printed it out and we'll recite
it to anybody that wants it on cameo or whatever.

(11:54):
For a fee. But in the interim, it's like there's
a guy going into his second decade. He's a jag.
It's not backup, but he's How much better is he
than the other options that you'd have out there? Because
if he's really held back because part of the perception
of him for years was he was unwilling to throw
the ball that could potentially be in Harm's way to

(12:15):
pat his completion percentage and other stats that that's certainly
not what you're looking for bringing him in either, you know,
cautious quarterbacking along the way. You saw the completion percentage
tank this year, and I know his couple of his
options were hurt that that Davante Adams guy doesn't just disappear.

(12:36):
You can still work the ball his way. Yes, you
potentially throw it into Harm's way. But players make plays, right,
Players make plays. Derek Carr makes some of them. Went
back to it. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten

(12:58):
pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific Fox Sports Radio. Do we
have some drama to tell you about? Right now? Live
from the Tireraq dot Com Studios. Lakers lead the Mavericks.
Right now one oh one to with eleven seconds left
to go, Mavericks have the ball. Where's the drama. Here's

(13:21):
where the drama comes at. First of all, oh, it's
with this game. I thought you were teasing something. He
is substantive. Here's how insane things are in this game.
First of all, Russell Westbrook is having maybe his best game.
And I don't know, since he's become a Laker, and
he's having a phenomenal game tonight. Right, he's playing really

(13:42):
eight out of fifteen from the floor, he's got five
assists five right, he is playing a phenomenal game. And
so the Lakers have the ball and the Mavericks need
to foul because you're inside of fifteen seconds. Russell Westbrook
has the basketball and he passes the ball off to
Dennis Shrewder. Now before he passes the ball, the Shrewder,
the Mavericks foul Russell Westbrook. The refs don't blow the whistle,

(14:05):
and so they blow it. Finally, when Dennis Shrewder has
the ball and they send Shrewder to the line, who's
about eight percent from the free throw line. The Mavericks say, no, no,
we found Russell Westbrook because Russell Westbrooks not nearly as
good from the free throw line, so they go to
the monitor to look at it. Mark Cuban is getting involved,
he's he's yelling at the at the at the officials.

(14:27):
Lebron James is quieting the crowd. It's an insane scene.
The referees come back and they say, nope, it's Russell
Westbrook going to the free throw line. So it's oh
my god, oh my god. Lebron still quiets down the
crowd again. Everybody be quiet, everybody be quiet, already be quiet.
Russell Westbrook nails both free throws. So it's one oh

(14:48):
one Lakers with the lead over the Mavericks, eleven seconds
left to go. The crip is insane. The Mavericks call
time out. You know there's one play left. It's gonna
go to Luca for three, and Luca don Sitch nails
the three to tie the game at one oh one.
Lakers have the ball in the time out right now

(15:09):
with six seconds left to go, all of that drama
over Westbrook and Cuban and Lebron and Luca just hit
the three to tie the game at one oh one apiece.
Oh boy, is this something you know me, I always
celebrate when there's chaos like that. Uh. And then there
were six seconds left, Lakers had an opportunity. Bodies flying

(15:30):
all over the place, and we've ended regulation. More fighting
over who they'd have gotten followed well, shady shady that
we ended regulation and we're going over time there, Mike,
did you just see what happened? Yeah? Yeah, he was fouled.
Brown Jr. Was fouled on the three with two seconds left,
and they didn't call it. The ball was gone, didn't

(15:50):
affect the shot. Really, I'll tell you this game now
is it's insane. One of these a couple of minutes
have been insane. But let's let you know just for
a second. You know that Westbrook's been great, and he's,
like I said, he's had a great game. He hit
the free throws, and watching Mark Cubans started getting man
on the sidelines is great. But this Luca three, for

(16:13):
some reason, the Lakers only have one play, only have
Shrewder on him, and he's able to take a couple
of dribbles and step back and hit the three. Come on, man,
I mean, really, you know who's gonna take the shot?
They need a three? You know what's gonna be Luca, right,
but still he hits the three. It's insane. Now, I
know that I told you before the season. Look, this

(16:35):
is when John Moran takes over the league, right, this
is the end he has. He's been unbelievably good. Memphis
is at the top of the Western Conference. He's done
everything that he's supposed to be doing. He's having thirty
five thirty eight point games, and he's doing what it is.
Zion was also on his way to being up there,
potentially being an m v P. But now he's out.
We don't know how long he's gonna be out for.
Is it a month, is it two months? We have

(16:56):
no idea. But I would be lying if I told
you that right now. I didn't think there was any
way that Luca Dontwitch is not winning m v P
in the NBA this year. Alright. The Mavericks are playing
well enough to be in contention, because look, the West stinks.
But you can sit here and you can you can
you can be able. I would say you could justify saying, yeah,

(17:18):
well why not, Luca. Look at the Mavericks. The Mavericks
are only a couple of games over five hundred. Yeah,
but in the Western Conference, you know they're there. There's
still a top five, top six team. Yeah, the Western
Conference isn't that good, but you could still justify it
by saying, well, here he is in the middle. It's
not Steph Curry who people wanted to give him m
v P two years ago when the when the Warriors
couldn't even get out of the playing round. Look, you're

(17:38):
not even in the top eight. All right, you can't
give you m v P there. But there's just something
he just has that it factor right now. And we
still talk about that game against the Knicks over Christmas
break and and and his made bucket off the missed
free throw that sent the game to overtime. They won.
Is is the game of the year, It's the play
of the year. Here's another example of him hitting a

(18:00):
three at the end of regulation sending it to overtime.
I I would feel ridiculous, but I didn't tell you.
Right now, I think we know who's gonna win NBA
m v P. It's just see just has that it
factor about him and the desire to officially anoint him
as a superstar. Hey, NBA m v P. Luka dontetch

(18:20):
I think it's I think it's set in stone form
right now. Like yeah, I was trying to have some
fun with with Justin Brown, was clearly followed by man
hard Away and do it and was walking and clapping
and mocking the crowd. It was really some next level
stuff along the way, because I'm sure if we had
the uh well going back to the parabolic microphones around

(18:41):
to where we could hear everything, I'm sure it was
not FCC compliance. Now back to your Luca Dodgets discuss,
well you can say that. Um remember we talked with
Mark Medita last night and he basically said, look, it's
it's done, and it's Yokich. That's it, right, So either

(19:02):
a guy's riding in the sulky again or we got
Luca who decides, you know what he's doing. He was
talking about going back in twenty years when I asked
about Lebron James and eventually going for the scoring records,
surpassing Lebron because now I'm gonna be back on my farm.
I've done, You'll see me in twenty years and paraphrasing,
of course, but you know the poll that market done,

(19:27):
I mean that's eighty three percent, and then you've got
distance he Honice and Jayson Tatum. I mean it got
you know, the two front runners, and Denver's fantastic. But
there's no denying even with the lackluster record, because every
teams bunched together, right That's that's gonna be the thing

(19:47):
that makes this a little different than historical m v
P discussions because I know we've had that in the past.
While Steph Curry doing this like, well, they're far away
from you know, being uh top contender in the West
when he was putting up some crazy numbers. Right as
it stands right here, Dallas five and a half off

(20:09):
the pace from where Denver and Memphis are coming into tonight.
And then you've got New Orleans and they're tied with
the Sacramento Kings. I think the King should just win
it as a team, kind of like an ensemble when
you do one of these award shows in Hollywood. But uh, well,
we'll see what happens for the second half of the season.
It's been a fun ride for them thus far. But
Luca night in night out, how many people are talking

(20:31):
about you know Musty TV or that's the guy say
it was the old Clippers. Jason, let's put it in
these terms. It was the old Clippers that were so
abysmal that they were taking out ads in newspapers. He's
the guy who's pictures they're about who's coming to town,
not any of the Clippers, you know. But yeah, yeah,

(20:52):
it was getting It was get this Clipper package, because
it was get the It was like get the start package.
Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, you get you get the Bulls,
and you get the you know all the other big
great teams of the late nineties, and get the Bulls,
you get the Spurs. Hey, this is gonna be a
great package. Come come watch not right, yeah, I mean

(21:13):
all all of those things. Right, That was it. That's
how they advertise it wasn't hey, actually come watch the
guys that play for our team. Now with that they
see the road guys. You know. But but here, here's
the thing about what makes what's different about the NBA
m v P than other leagues. Right, when you talk
about m v P and Major League Baseball, who winds
up winning? Right, we have a bunch of guys with

(21:33):
great seasons. Then you get down in September and who
has the great September and lifts their team either to
you know, to a division record or into the playoffs. Right,
that's what we taught that. That's who wins in Major
League Baseball. In the NFL, it's the totality of the season,
in what you've done. Okay, look, you had a great year.
Let's look at where you are, where everything sits at

(21:54):
the end of the year, and you take it into
into a hole. Right, because all the leagues look at
m VP differently. Right, major League Baseball looks at the
end of the year and who routed and who was great.
NFL says, we give you the whole season after it's over,
and we look at it, we dissect it. NBA, it's
about who starts. Because nobody wins NBA m v P
in the last couple of weeks of the season or

(22:15):
in the last month and a half of the season.
You don't see a lot of change in the standings.
What once you get to fifty games, things kind of
stay where it's at. Nobody comes out. No teams suddenly
catch fire and start winning unless a big star comes
back from injury. It doesn't happen that way. It's it's
you get out to a big start, you getta and
and you kind of continue that play over the course

(22:37):
of the season and you wind up winning before the
season is is even gets to the twenty games left, right,
once you get to the fifty games, okay, this is
who's gonna win the m v P. Right, It's not
like NICOLEA. Yokich the last couple of years was Hey,
he was really good, but boy down the stretch man.
They won fifteen out of seventeen. He was a triple
double every day. No, he was really great most of

(22:57):
the and so yeah, he kind of had it one way.
By the time you got to games sixty game sixty five,
it's yeah, Luca um Nicole Yokich is the m v P. Okay, yeah,
Janice is the m v P. He started out. Look
at the year he had. The Bucks ran out the
first place. They were twenty five and eight, and they
never looked back, and they had the one seed. You
win NBA m v P early. And that's why I

(23:19):
look at Luca, I go, I don't know if that
he hasn't won it already because you're talking about just
early January. But he's got all the highlights, he's got
he's got all the numbers, he's got the in factor
this year, and it just looks like this is going
his way. And as long as the Mavericks stay where
they are, there's no reason why they can't be a
couple of games over five hundred, because that's kind of
the way this team isn't. No one's gonna suddenly separate

(23:40):
themselves in the West. This is the Western Conference. If
they sink like a stone in the standings, well yeah,
and then then okay, but that doesn't really happen to teams.
If you're a little bit over five hundred at this point,
you're gonna be a little bit over five hundred the
rest of the year, right, We're that once you get
to that halfway point, everybody kind of has their identity
and that's kind of how things go. So that's why
I look at Luca go I don't know how he

(24:01):
doesn't win the m v P now if he gets hurt. Yeah,
because look, Joel Empat was m v P last year
till win until he got hurt and then he missed
a lot of games as well. We can't give it
to him because he got hurt. So hate Nikolea Yokachu
was great. Oh year, He's the guy. That's the only thing.
If his team sinks like a stone or he gets hurt,
but outside of that, he's gonna win the m v P. Yeah,
I mean it would be the curiosity. And you know,

(24:21):
we cited the poll that Mark Badina had done for
the NBA dot com site and Jayson tatums at seven percent. Well,
they're thirty one and twelve. Jalen Brown's a little banged
up right at the missed the game with an injury.
You know, it opens the door if they continue to
win eight and two in their last ten five game
winning streak, and then in the West, it's a jumbled mess,

(24:44):
which is gonna be fun to watch. So this might
be the outlier year, assuming people don't suddenly gravitate towards
Boston and wanting to go down that road that you
will have you know a little bit where those final
two three weeks could matter. Could this could be crazy? Right,
Anthony Davis comes out of the wreckage. Lebron James somehow

(25:10):
keeps playing through and out of the wreckage. It's Anthony
Davis getting the Lakers to two games under five. I
know that that's where it hurt a d right, because
think about this. Did a D have the narrative? He
absolutely had the narrative, right, the Lakers stunk, but here
they come back, and yeah, Lebron was playing better and
he bought in, but it was Anthony Davis and suddenly

(25:31):
he grabbed that by the fay, the Lakers are getting
back to five. But then he got hurt, which is
what happens to a D. So I mean, is he
gonna play enough games to win the m v P
is probably not, But he had a chance to see
that narrative because like the best players early on we
were talking a lot about were Luca because he had
to hide an a D with what he's doing with
the Lakers. But now it's gonna be impossible because he's

(25:52):
gonna miss too many games to be able to do it.
That's why I really I don't see anybody but Luca.
I'm gonna be bummed and and pissed at my job.
Ranting isn't coming through this year, so I'm gonna have
to pick him to do it next year. The Memphis
Grizzlers will have to certify satisfied with with going to
the finals like I predicted them to go. But I'm
outside I mean, it's it's gonna be Luca. What about
the joker? I mean it's gonna he's already won two,

(26:13):
he's already won to Yeah, he's been fantastic. Yeah, he's
been great. Right, but last year, the last two years
that he won everybody you could make an argument for
there was nobody that had this stronger case like Luka Dontach.
You know l m beat is really good, bad but

(26:33):
he got hurt. That's got yeah, but he got hurt,
this guy lab But maybe there was nobody with a
stronger cases Luka Dontach. And what would NBA writers, What
would the NBA rather see? Would they rather see Nicola
yoketch win another m v P or hey we annoint
another superstar at Luka donte job shoulder? Right, Yeah, but
I live in reality, man, it's gonna be to you. Really,

(26:53):
you're a jutice. Yes, I'm the mayor of reality. He
was well aware of the dismal reality that that his
bid glimmers of hope. What are we talking about? He
thinks he's got Lamar Jackson. That's not reality? Are you kidding?
You know what? Right now, it's a new year, jets.
Who it is it's all, Hey, it's always the same jets. Okay,

(27:16):
that is a that is a good T shirt to
be had. Now. It's funny though, justin because you bring
up the fact that, well, what about the Joker stats
are better this year than they were the last two? Yeah,
well I also just texted you and about a very
important network television event that that was fifty seven years ago,

(27:36):
January sixty six, the debut of why did you have
to bring that up? That did no reason to bring
that up about the Joker? Stop something done on on
on on on on on on on on on Batman,

(27:56):
you just went you just you just found a way.
You gotta slip the You gotta get that in naturally
making over. I got this and this and you mean
that was his natural. He's talking about the Joker and
the choler taking over and dominating. Caesar Romero was a
god of television. You gotta get to a cleaner than that.

(28:18):
You were talking about text messages and this and fifty
seven years ago, and guess what it is you gotta
get to. You gotta get to a cleaner, gotta get
to clean clearly a word to piste you off. Really
when it came down to now, wasn't uh take that?

from pitch person. Yeah, this has been up there you go.

(29:00):
This is esther Deem Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Right now, just
under a minute left to go in double overtime, the
Mavericks lead the Lakers one, eighteen to one, thirteen Luca
don Chech thirty five, fourteen boards and thirteen assists. Will

(29:21):
have more on this game coming up in a few minutes. Again, Uh,
just under fifty seconds left to go MAVs and the Lakers.
Now it was earlier today, Mike Harmon. We heard one
owner excuse me, I need to drink. Okay, there buddy
talking about ownership at the guard talking about uh, you know,

(29:42):
Kevin Warren taking over to the Bears and taken over
the NFL. I was choking like the Lakers. I'm sorry,
I was, Hey, how many when you play a double
overtime game, do we recovery beers? Yeah? No, it definitely
recovery beers. I may go have one myself. But do
you get three different minute reports? Because I think you

(30:03):
need him for this one. I think you might, you might.
Here's the first two minutes. The second one is coming in, sir,
just just here and here. I like what you've done
over there, and you connect those dots in the giant
middle finger. Uh uh. It was earlier today New York
Jets owner Woody Johnson said he is willing to spend
for a quarterback, calling it the missing piece for the Jets.

(30:27):
Did a very small interview with a group of reporters
in his office. Was asked, Hey, are you gonna spend
big bucks for aproven veteran and he said absolutely, yeah, yeah,
that's kind of the missing piece. Thank you, Zach Wilson.
Thank you for all your years of service here the
last two and underachieving as much as you have. So
now you have to go out and pay for a
quarterback despite the fact we thought you were our guy. Well,

(30:49):
but you already fired the o C. I mean it
was his fault everything, Yes, it was his fault. Yes,
his fault's got nothing to do with Zach. I will
say I am somewhat excited that he's gonna be in
a new system that will hopefully take advantage of what
he does well, because this system the Jets had did not.
But I'm more excited that we're gonna go out and
get somebody. Now it's a Jet. Yeah, they're gonna screw

(31:12):
it up, and whoever comes in, we'll probably lose the
job to Zach Wilson in practice, right, it's gonna it's
gonna have come Hell or high water. Man. Listen, everybody's
talking Robert Solis and Hell or high water. Zach Wilson says,
we sign a veteran, I'll make that guy's life Hellen practice,
it's almost hell hell hell around the Jets. It's too
much Hellen firing me since you could say that Joe

(31:33):
Namath might have been part of some ceremony whereby they
sold out the franchise to Satan himself. It's hell around
the Jets, but fumble and a whole lot of nothing
else kind of is hell around the Jets. I agree
with you, but I'm just excited now that the possibility exists,
that they could get it right and they could go
get a big name. Again, They're probably gonna mess it up.

(31:55):
Who whatever the Jets decide is going to end up
being wrong. Doesn't matter whatever why they decided. But right now,
it's just the possibility of Lamar Jackson or Justin Fields
or Aaron Rodgers or somebody. It's exciting, man. I we're
gonna get somebody. Oh yeah, just just like I'm in
high school, you know, writing names or a girl I
gotta crush on and just writing her name down. Oh yeah,

(32:18):
that's what I'm doing. I'm writing Aaron all the time
in books I have. Now justin I'm writing Lamar. I'm right,
all these I'm just writing him down and putting little
footballs instead of hearts. I put footballs near them. And
it's kind of fun. You're getting Lamar odom. Hey again,
I ask you, is he worse than Zach Wilson. I'll
take whoever you say is not back Za Wilson up. Yeah,

(32:40):
he's pretty get passion for a big man. He's got
another documentary or something coming out here. But buddy, I'm
excited about this because now we got official word that yes,
we're gonna go out and get a quarterback, and it's
gonna be somebody who's better than Zack Wilson. So it's exciting. Jason,
I gotta ask you, though, when the last time the
Jets brought in a good quarterback? Don't say far farv

(33:04):
was great for a half the year draft. Okay, here's
the best Jens quarterbacks. The best Jets quarterbacks have been
uh Nameth and that's it. And no, no, no no.
Ken O'Brien was good for a few years. Went to
a Pro Bowl, Pennington, Pro Bowl? Yeah, Pennington. Maybe Pennington's
actually back when they were competitive that a Pro Bowl,

(33:26):
goes to several bowls. Joe Nameth, Chad Pennington, Ken O'Brien,
and whoever comes in next. That's the list of best
Jets quarterbacks. And you believe your owner when he says this,
really yeah, because he wants to win. He listens. What
gives you any indication that he wants to win? The
Jets spend money, we just don't spend it well
