One baseball note before we get into the Draymond Green story.
(00:56):
Right now, Mets are batting in the top of the
seventh inning against the Dodgers. Dodgers the Mets three nothing.
It's been a dominant outing for Clayton Kershaw, who probably
will be out of the game after this inning. He's
just given up one hit in six and two thirds.
He's at ninety four pitches make it ninety five pitches.
Speaker 4 (01:12):
Now and now he's fighting Dave Roberts.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
But this would be win number two hundred in the
career of Clayton Kershaw, and in a time in the
Major League Baseball where it's two hundred isn't quite the
new three hundred, but two hundreds now that benchmark of hey,
you know, not the Clayton Clayton Kershaw's unanimous first ballot
(01:36):
Hall of Famer. I mean, let's just be real, but
two hundred's become that number that you look at now
and say, Okay, yeah, this guy's real serious for the
Hall of Fame, because no one's really gonna get to
three hundred anymore. And Kershaw's not gonna pitch long enough
to get to three hundred because he's just getting to
two hundred now, and who knows how much longer he's
gonna go, and how much longer he is with his
back and everything else. But two hundred's become that moment
(01:58):
where it was three hundred before three nah, two hundred's
kind of become that number now. I mean again, doesn't
matter for Kershaw, He's first ballot Hall of Famer, but
this number two hundred, for a lot of people's it's
because that's gonna be the big thing. Hey, this pushes
my case for Cooper's Town because I have those. You
look at, what does my resume say? Two hundred blank,
two hundred number, two hundred plus number wins. That's the
(02:19):
first thing on your resume. Two hundred some odd wins. Yeah,
that's the level of excellence.
Speaker 5 (02:23):
No, we've been talking about this a while, with the
different milestones and during the Judge Chase last year, of
the different things that were potentially attainable, and you and
I growing up when we watched those gray haired guys
in their forties. No, Tom sever White Sox Hall of Famer,
his three hundredth win came as a member of the
White Sox.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
Stop saying that. Stop saying that, man, you I know,
I know, the world knows. Everybody knows. You don't need
to say that.
Speaker 3 (02:48):
Well, you know what. The audience was always changed.
Speaker 1 (02:51):
No, no, no, it's just one of his last No, no, no.
Speaker 5 (02:55):
Junior White Sox Hall of Famer final numbers were putting
the pinstripes of the white socks.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
No, now you're just out.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Jordan next, Damn right, I am.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
You coulda claim Scottie Pippen. He probably hates you too.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Now he doesn't like me.
Speaker 5 (03:09):
I've I've gone after him wait times. But I mean,
we look at two hundred this way.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
But for note, this is this is to you're over
the line, because this is just like the judging a
few good men. When he says, I'm aware, the court
is aware, the jury's aware, and now everybody's aware. Everybody's aware.
Top saver guy, So just move on with.
Speaker 4 (03:29):
Your game, smoky.
Speaker 3 (03:31):
So everybody is now aware.
Speaker 5 (03:32):
But the point was, we had guys at the end
of their careers and they got to three hundred. It
was hallowed ground. Right, you got the three thousand hits,
you got to four hundred home runs, and then it
became five hundred home runs. But three hundred wins for
pitchers was the benchmark. For hey, you just walk into
Cooperstown as we sit here tonight, Clayton Kershaw and now
(03:53):
tied with four other gentlemen with two hundred career wins,
John Lester, George Yule, Tim Wakefield, and Chuck Finley.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
He's just as good. There you go, Frostburg, He's just
as good as Tim Wakefield. All right, there you go,
Kershaw Tim Wakefield, same guy, that same guy there, same guy.
Speaker 5 (04:12):
But to keep going, Chu, I did good job by me.
Adam Wainwright has one hundred and ninety five as of tonight.
And then we want to go to the next active pitcher.
We keep scrolling, scrolling. Cole Hammels anybody, he's at one
hundred and sixty three, Keep scrolling, scroll scroll. Johnny Quato,
(04:33):
he's thirty seven years old. He's got one hundred and
forty three. Keep going, scroll scull scroll, Bumgarner one hundred
and thirty four, Cole one hundred and thirty four. They
are both thirty three and thirty two, respectively. Keep going,
scroll scroll scroll. Next Lance Lynn, he's got one hundred
and twenty three. He's with the White Sox and he's well,
(04:53):
not good, but he's also thirty six. But the point
being like, you've got no wa Chris Sale, anybody, Charlie mooreton,
I mean you're going down a long ways before you
got anybody that's young that appears on this as everybody
else is in their mid to late thirties and they're
barely over one hundred total wins. So this is this
(05:16):
is kind of an end of a run him and
Wayne Wright. Uh speak for a lot of folks, and
I guess Cole will probably get there as well.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
Twitter at how about a fresco Mike get swollen down
the Jason Smith Show with my best.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
Friend Mike Harry standing as he comes off.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
Yeah, coming out of the game, as he as he
loaded the bases and the here, Oh, it's the umpire's fault. Oh,
it's the umpire's fault. Basses loaded for the Mets. Uh
as Clayton Kershaw coming, Oh, he got out of it.
I hate baseball.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Why do you think I said a standing out?
Speaker 1 (05:50):
I hate baseball. I hate because I was because I
had turned onto a dial game, because I turned out
to the basketball game, because I turned on the basketball
game from else and I went back to the game
and I'm like, Okay, the Mets have first and third. Oh,
I got a full count on Tommy Fam. You're like
standing ovation like, oh, he must have walked, Tommy Fam. No,
I you know what, nobody walk. I need another iPad,
(06:13):
That's what it is. I need another iPad because I
was on I need another I pad. That's what I
have to do. So again, three nothing Kershaw middle of
the seventh inning. Likely he has done, which means maybe
the Mets can actually get a couple more hits. But
Draymond Green, the news that came in about twenty five
minutes ago, has been suspended for Game three of the
(06:34):
Warriors series with the Kings for this play from Game
two late in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 2 (06:41):
And can you just walk us through now?
Speaker 6 (06:43):
Watched the end of this play as he goes out,
watch him grab Draymond right there now, That right there
is where the foul came in. So he grabs Draymond's
leg right there now. Draymond steps on that.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Jim Jackson on TNT with the call a footstop, more
so steps on a foot stomp of Demonta Sabonis. He
gets the flagrant two. He gets ejected. He stands up
on the on the seats and starts yelling at the crowd,
not helping his case for front of show, by the way,
trying to avoid a suspension, not helping himself, and after
(07:20):
the game, no responsibility for it. Basically said, yeah, what
do you expect you're grabbing my ankle? Take a listen,
can you just walk us through what happened there?
Speaker 7 (07:28):
My leg got grabbed second time, in two nights, referees,
just watch it. I gotta land my foot somewhere, and
I'm not the most flexible person, so that's not stretching
that far.
Speaker 6 (07:39):
So you didn't really see where you were stepping.
Speaker 7 (07:41):
I can only step so far. I'm pulling my leg away.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Yeah right, Oh, so what happened? My leg got grabbed
second time and two nights referees don't call it. But
I just put my foot down where I could, right.
I mean, the the arrogance that he has with describing
this and I last night we told you you have
to suspend him. This is who Draymond is, right, this
is who he's been his entire career. And I liked
it the fact that the NBA said part of the
(08:07):
reason to suspend him was because of the pattern of
plays he has had like this throughout his career. The
NBA gets it right. NBA's got it right. And I
got even more news for you. I'd like to say
that maybe Draymond Green's future as a Warrior hinges on
Game three, because if they lose Game three and they
(08:28):
get swept out of the playoffs, he's gone. But I
think that ship has already sailed. I mean watching last night.
Teams will put up with your antics so far, and
when your antics outweigh your contributions, guess what they're done.
And when Draymond Green was the glue of the Warriors
and everybody had his bad everything he was he was
(08:48):
a policeman of the team and making sure everything went fine.
And he's someone that could fill the stat sheet was good.
He's a good passer, he's a good rebounder. He used
to hit threes. He doesn't score anymore. But when Draymond Green,
you put up with his antics. But now you have
a team that can't win on the road and you
win very well at home. That's fine, but you're not
getting better. And he's doue twenty seven million dollars next year,
(09:13):
he's gonna be on a new team regardless. And last
night was the tipping point. I guarantee you Steve Kerr
is walking away from that, walking in going. I gotta
tell Bob and Joe we gotta get we gotta move on.
We gotta move on. And there's another team that will
take him. There's someone who thinks, oh, we need great
Draymond's toughness, right, that's just what we need. Well, for
a year, yeah, and it'll be right exactly. It's not
(09:34):
gonna be for a long term deal. It's gonna be, hey, Draymond,
for a year. We could use his toughness, and it'll
go someplace where they're a good team that maybe they
feel we're a Draymond short of being able to win
a championship. They'll send him somewhere good and there will
be a team that'll want him for a year. But
he's done in Golden State. Steve Kerr, he's got to
walk around and say I'm done. If he stays, I'm gone.
(09:58):
I can't take this anymore. You saw the look on
Kurr's face when Draymond's standing on the chair yelling at
the fans. He walks over and goes, come on, stops
it out, come on side, And Draymond Green did stop
and sit down. But it's like, dude, what are you doing?
Speaker 3 (10:09):
Man?
Speaker 1 (10:10):
You what you did in that moment was you took
a time in the game where your team is now
fought back to being down for in a game you
kind of have to have. You don't want to go
down to zip and you couldn't hold it together. You
commit a dirty foul and then you lose your mind
and you're screaming on the bench, and then after the
(10:31):
game you take no responsibility for it, and the team
has got to be saying, what the hell, man, We're
trying to win this game, and you made this moment
all about you, and I had no choice to do
it and my leg was getting red and you couldn't.
You couldn't hold your You couldn't hold yourself down and
not get thrown out and not help cost us the
game and not rile up that crowd even more because
we got boat raced after that moment happened, and after that,
(10:53):
the energy in the crowd, which was through the roof
was through ten roofs at that point, I can't believe
the Warriors are gonna want anything to do with Draymond
after that. You go from the punch earlier this year,
where okay, they survived that a little bit with Jordan Poole,
but Jordan Poole clearly is much more of a future
with the team. He's a younger player, more dynamic at
this point than Draymond is. Okay, he kind of survived that,
(11:15):
but he doesn't survive this. You're booke ending the season
with I punched one of my team I threw a
punch in one of my teammates, and now here I
am I'm I'm curb stomping a guy and I'm jumping
on top of him because he grabbed my leg and
I couldn't control myself. And now we're losing a game
in the playoffs and I don't have no idy responsibility
for it at all, and I am walking away from
this going I can't believe they're gonna do this to me.
(11:36):
What kind of teammate are you that you're doing that? Really? So, yeah,
I did. This is going to be it for Draymond
in Golden State. That's it.
Speaker 5 (11:43):
Yeah, still let them and assist blocks and plus minus
from stat News the win percentage this year with Draymond
fifty six point two without him at a three point
thirty three clip along the way. So certainly the value
add still there, and but it becomes the what type
(12:03):
of glue are we using? Did you pick the one
that could be water soluble at points? And now we
have problems going through So but for Steve Kerry, he's
expressed his frustration in the past, and certainly yesterday tried
to be as diplomatic as he possibly could and give
(12:23):
you the there's nothing to see here. I'm gonna answer
questions about other parts of the game, talk about the
physicality of Sacramento and all those things and what Sabonus
brings to bear and what you have. But for for Draymond, yeah,
I mean there'll be another team. You know, there's been
a lot of rumors linking him to the Lakers to
where suddenly he's Frostburg's best friend and he's walking around
(12:44):
with a jersey yelling we're.
Speaker 3 (12:46):
Back, baby, we are.
Speaker 5 (12:49):
So so you got that running around and that rumor
conjects your speculation. But for the Warriors, if your Steph
and and Klay Thompson, you're being tested and a whole
diff And part of the elongated sound clip was Draymond
of talking about how this is a new challenge and
and we chronicled it last night with you know where
they are in the playoffs series and new Territory down
(13:13):
oh two and the Steph era and all that stuff.
But it's it's a curiosity of how this squad responds.
Can you get meaningful minutes out of Moody and can
Jordan Poole be more of the guy that we've seen
in the past versus a guy that's shrunk away and
now is just a cheerleader, laughing and joking around yesterday.
So that that part of the equation, but it certainly
(13:35):
now puts the Warriors in a in a mode where,
all right, if this turns, it makes for a very
easy decision because you could still try to ride it down.
You know, it's like you've got a tire that's getting flat,
and damn it, you're getting off that exit and you're
gonna ride it until it's done, till it's on the
(13:55):
rim if you have to, so you're not in the
middle of a freeway speaking for experience, and then you
start to get the car gets shaky and now it's
rattling a bit, but you're gonna.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Following Mike Harmon who's trying to drive home on three rims.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Yeah, that's kind of where we're at.
Speaker 5 (14:12):
Yeah, you can do the police chase, but now we're
talking about the Warriors kind of going down that same
road of all right, we know we're reaching the end.
How long can we ride it out before we have
to give up and put the flashers on and wait
for the Doe Truck and Triple A to come bail
us out.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Twitter it out about a Fresco Mike, it's swollen down
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
So they're going to tell you the ship is sailed.
Get ready for Draymond? New team next season? Coming up? Next?
Will it be two hundred for Kershaw? What team will
it be for Otani? Later on this year? Get right here,
Jason and Mike. This is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (14:50):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (15:01):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My bes
friend Mike Harmon. Yeah, Live from the ti Raq dot
Com Studios. Time getting short in Phoenix. They have an
eight point lead over the Clippers with about three minutes
left to go. We'll have more on this game coming
up in a couple of minutes, but right now, Clayton
Kershaw is six outs away, or rather the Dodgers bullpen
(15:24):
six outs away from what could be win number two
hundred in his MLB career. Joining us now to break
it down. MLB Network reporter and insider. He's on the
call tomorrow on MLB Network's Big Game between the Yankees
and the Angels. It is John Paul Morosi, JP. What's happening, Buddy?
Speaker 8 (15:42):
I am doing outstanding, my friends, And yes, Clayton Kershaw.
I love this that when he's on the verge of
achieving something and I look at his Baseball Reference page.
You know how for the greats, when you lead your
league or lead the major leagues, it's it's bold type
(16:04):
on your line in your category. His entire statistical page
is like one big bold type. It's like I made
a mistake on my word processor like I often do,
and I put everything in bold, and I have to
go back and change the font again. But in the
case of Clayton, it's all bold. The whole page is bold.
(16:28):
And yes, when to me, it's it's not just win
number two hundred coming up potentially, but it's what is
winning percentages. He hasn't even lost one hundred games. It's
it's extraordinary in the era of two point four to
nine best among all active pitchers with that number of
innings pitch. It's just an amazing career and it gets
(16:51):
better and it really, I think that the Dodgers and Clayton,
I give them both credit because I think they've really
understood how to get the most out of him, and
he does himself. And it's said, it's pretty cool to
see is age thirty five season, Major League season number sixteen.
Speaker 1 (17:09):
JP.
Speaker 5 (17:10):
As we look at this squad and the Kershaw milestone,
Jason and I were looking at the all time wins leader,
you only got like three more guys that have anywhere
to sniff two hundred wins, whereas you know, we're old
enough to remember the greatness of three hundred and Sutton
and sever and those guys Maddox and down towards the end.
(17:30):
Now it's rarefied air to get where we are based
on specialization and the ability to stay healthy. The fact
that Kershaw's gotten here and battled to this point just
such a huge deal in baseball at this point in
the game's history.
Speaker 8 (17:45):
So it is. As a Hall of Fame voter, I
have to think about my standards and how they evolve
over time. And obviously, in the case of Clayton, he's
slam dunk in. Verlander is a slam dunk in. But
then you start to wonder for this generation of pitcher,
is Wainwright a yes?
Speaker 1 (18:06):
And for me he is?
Speaker 8 (18:08):
Is CC A yes? For me he is? How about Granky?
I think he probably is too. Uh. That's That's where
I'm at right now. And and maybe not everybody's going
to agree with me, But but we cannot hold the
pictures of today to the standards of yesterday. It's just
it's a different sport, the way that everything is is
(18:30):
handled adjudicated, all the different rules, and and and this
year we might be at the at the brink or
already in to a different chapter where where basically because
of the new playing rules, we might have further changes
to the way that we view candidates going forward. But
I really think you have to consider the era in
which Clayton played. Obviously, the majority of it was played
(18:52):
in the pre pitch timer era. And and yet with
with all the things he's been able to do, all
the he's pitched, all the awards he's accumulated, he is
he's extraordinary. I go back and reflect on this for
a moment. When Clayton showed up, his chief rival, as
both of you recall, in the division was Tim Lincicomb.
(19:16):
And and it's just It just proves that in the
case of Linciccombe, he was arguably the best show in
baseball for a couple of years, but the durability wasn't there.
And so for Clayton to keep coming back. He's dealt
with injuries, but for him to keep coming back just
speaks to his greatness and why he's a clear Hall
of Famer.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
All right, now, I have a Now you're and I'm
gonna ask you this, and you're gonna ask your friends tomorrow,
proud Michigan or you are John Paul MOROSSI ready for this?
Speaker 3 (19:42):
Okay, you got it?
Speaker 1 (19:43):
What is higher Clayton Kershaw's career winning percentage? Okay, for
Jim Harbaugh's career winning percentage as a college football coach.
Who has the higher winning percentage?
Speaker 8 (19:56):
M I think the answer on that is Harbaugh.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
Clayton Kershaw six ninety three Jim Harbaugh six ninety one Kershaw.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
Wow, so close.
Speaker 8 (20:13):
I thought I thought that you were going to and
I'm at least proud that I was in the same
neighborhood there. I thought that you were going to reference
the state of Michigan and somehow open up a Draymond
Green conversation, so true story cru shory. Okay, So I have,
as you guys know, not watched a ton of the
(20:36):
sports that I don't cover on a regular basis. And
so when I saw all these headlines today, I was
I was logging into into the internets, you know, to
check all my stuff, and and I I saw the
headline about Sibonis. I said, wow, I said, I know
it's been a while since I covered the NBA, watch
(20:58):
it carefully, but is our Veta Sibonis really still playing?
Speaker 3 (21:01):
Like it's how great with that league?
Speaker 8 (21:04):
And so I said that, now, that would be quite
a story if he was. And so I did some
some googling and realized, oh, it's his son, so that
that's that's how Like literally the NBA has sort of
lapped the field in my mind where I'm now fully
caught back up to where my knowledge in the league
was in the in the nineteen ninety to where I'm
(21:25):
I'm good now, I'm I'm all the way back to
the beginning. But I I love his story now I've
I've found I found that the the younger Sibonis multiple
time All Star and and yeah, I learned I learned
something through the controversy of of the time still represents Lithuania,
uh internationally. Of no, he's born in Portland. So a
pretty cool story there, how about that.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
You know, we like to run a thing on the
show JP where we say, okay, when the next time
you see the Cleveland Guardians in the playoffs, I guarantee
you half the fans watching I think Kenny Lofton is
still playing center field. Half the fans are going to
expect to see Kenny Lofton. Kenny Lofton is still that
was he thirty five, thirty six? Kenny Lofton is still there?
Speaker 8 (22:04):
Sure, the the ageless Kenny Lofton, who I have advocated
for at different times on the Veterans Committee ballot so
far to no avail. But I I digress. Also a
very good college basketball player, as you both know.
Speaker 5 (22:18):
All right, ready ready for this one. This is how
I'm gonna tie these together. What stomp to the chest
constitute a hard reset to get one soda to hit
the ball again?
Speaker 8 (22:28):
Well, yeah, that was that was a I do I
do believe that was a suspendable offense on the on
the dray Man and they do just yeah, just by
just by having watched it just just I said that
probably wants the suspension. But here's so, here's the thing
about about Sodo, Uh, You're right, puzzling start to the
year for him. I wonder if once Tatis shows up,
(22:54):
it just gets everybody locked in. And you know, of
course Tatis is gonna make his seat debut on Thursday,
and it's gonna be a lot of attention on him.
He right now in the minor leagues, he played eight
games Tatis did and homered in seven of them, almost
a homer a game. And so I think that with Soto,
(23:16):
you've got him playing left field, so he's first full
season with a new team, he's playing a new position.
The guy who's who he is moving on behalf of
hasn't even shown up yet because of a PD suspension.
They've had four different right fielders. So when you add
up all these elements, I think you understand why Soto's
(23:39):
had a bit of a slow start to the year.
I think he will hit. I do there are certainly
a lot of other players who have gotten off with
some slow starts here and there, So I'm not gonna
single out Soda necessarily, and the Padres in general. I
think that they've got a pretty good foundation right now.
Bogarts has been phenomenal in his early time there. It's
(24:01):
interesting to me. You look around and there are some
players who in their first years are thriving, and I
think you look at Pablo Lopez earned himself a contract
with with Minnesota, Boguarts thriving, Danzby Swanson thriving. The Cubs
are a team that I think are not getting enough credit.
The Dbacks are a better team than people realize. So
(24:22):
we've got a lot of great stories. Yeah, I think
Sodo's gonna get it figured out, but I agree a
bit of a vexing start for the for the multiple
time All Star all right.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Now, from one story to the story in baseball, you
know you're on the call tomorrow night of the Yankees
and the Angels, and tonight we saw Shay Shoho Tani
go deep again, a big line drive home run, and
you know, seeing him play in the Bronx, you just
start thinking about when are we gonna see him on
a bigger stage. And you know, we've had the conversation.
No more pressure on any team in baseball in the
(24:52):
first half of the season than the Angels to be
able to justify keeping him for some kind of pennant
drive and not have to trade him away. But if
I said to you this JP right now here we
are sitting, you know, middle of April is still long
baseball we played. If I said to you, by the
if the Angels fall out of contention by the trade deadline,
show Heyo Tani is playing for blank And if you
(25:14):
say the Mets, that's fine. If you say the Mets,
that's fine because I think they're one of the favorites.
I want to let you know it's a safe space
for you to say that on the show. If you
want to say somebody else, it'll be your last appearance.
So who do you think, show Haotani's going to be
playing for?
Speaker 8 (25:29):
Got it? I actually think the Mets. The Mets. Okay,
let's say this here. They've got a legitimate claim if
the Angels fall out of it. I think that the
Mets farm system is good and at least good enough,
and we know ownership will do anything it takes to
bring in the players to make this happen. And this
(25:52):
is where it's just so interesting for us to wonder,
does Steve Cohen have a limit, Because if he doesn't,
then then certainly we'll say this financially, it's before the
extension kicks in. It's not at all a prohibitive sum
of money. I mean, this is for a player of
(26:13):
his caliber arbitration salary, this is manageable. He's just so
unique and so great, and Steve Cohen is so aggressive,
and the rotation admittedly has some concerns. If Erlander hasn't
started a game yet this regular season, Kintana is out
for the medium long term potentially, Carrasco just went on
(26:37):
the IL again today. So the question is do the
Mets need pitching help? The answer is yes. And is
it possible a generational stars is going to be out
there and available, Yes it is. And so everything there
is about Steve Cohen's DNA and the way that he's
handled things and the way the Mets have handled things
since he's taken over the club, I think just speaks
(26:59):
to exactly that approach. So I would fully expect the
Mets to be heavily involved in the Otani sweep steaks,
and I think, Jason, I'm not just saying this because
we're friends. I think the Mets have as good of
a chance to get him this year in season, as
any other team now off season might be a different conversation.
(27:19):
I thought it was really interesting going back, and actually
I read some of Jeff Fletcher's book again about the
courtship of Otani, and it's so interesting that one of
the main reasons why he chose the Angel, of course,
was because they had the DH there at the time.
And if that had not been the case, would he
have become a Dodger or a Padre or a Giant.
(27:40):
There's a lot of different possibilities out there. But I
think that his free agency's going to be so different
than what the initial round was when he came over
that it's going to be a whole different book, a
whole different chapter. And I cannot wait to see what
happens between now and sometime probably in January.
Speaker 5 (27:58):
I will say this, I really like that the Yankees
are capturing all revenue by having those Kanji jerseys available
for sale in the club shop as you get to
the stadium JP.
Speaker 3 (28:08):
So there you go, that's a good move there.
Speaker 8 (28:11):
It is all about marketing, growing the game. I was
in London last weekend for a family trip, and sure
enough I was in a tube I was in the
underground and there was the ad for the Cubs and
Cardinals London series. So it's all about the as they
would say over there. I believe the advertisement and it
(28:32):
was very compelling when I saw it.
Speaker 5 (28:34):
Well, you went and saw some soccer too, right, not
to belabor d John Rossi, but yeah.
Speaker 8 (28:40):
Thank you. Yeah. So I went to the Chelsea game.
I had never been to a Premier League game before.
It was awesome to see Stanford Bridge the home side
not really having a good run of form here of late.
But when you get a chance to see a game
at the equivalent of a of a Fenway or Wrigley
of of your sport, it and so it was just
(29:01):
a wonderful experience. The fans there were great, organization was great.
So just a really fun experience for the whole family.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:08):
They lost to nil today too, in case.
Speaker 8 (29:11):
I know, they lost two. I mean, they have not
had a very good run of form since I've showed up,
so I don't know that they're gonna blame me, but
they probably could.
Speaker 1 (29:21):
You can follow on Twitter at John Morosi, that is
at John Morosi, MLB Network Insider, Fox Sports Radio WINSID
to check them out. On the call tomorrow night Yankees
and the Angels on MLB Network JP. As always, Buddy

Speaker 8 (29:37):
Always the pleasure, guys, thanks for making the time and
enjoyed this great time of year for sports.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
All right, and hey, speaking of soccer, Buddy, did you
see that Wrexham is one win away from promotion? They
won tonight and now they win one more game because
they beat Notts County last week and Wrexham's one win
away from promotion after they won tonight. So he was
gonna be insane. It's gonna be insane. I can't wait.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
No, it's it's fantastic stuff. For those that missed it,
The Welcome to Rects some Season one was great chronicling
what they're doing this season and the chaos involved. Yeah,
spoiler alerts for the TV show, but it's been great
to watch. It was watching some Champions League. That's what
I do during the day. I got Day Baseball at
times and I got Champions League soccer. And then the announcement,
(30:26):
you know our guy Ilo over there that we're about
to talk to. I mean, he's the voice for Angel
City and they just added our favorite player in the
house Julie Ertz. So we're all happy as could be.
Soccer on the brain, Twitter at how about a fresca?

Sports, Poe Perrie. So much action the NBA.
Speaker 5 (33:54):
We watched the Suns draw even Devin Booker the revenge game.
Scott Foster. The record goes down, so I'm saying he
got caught up in the hype, was scared, couldn't referee
as normal game. I will analyze it all coming up
in the next hour. But as we roll through, is
this where I get to talk about the Knicks sucking Frost.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
We'll get to the We'll get to the Knicks. Hey, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 5 (34:19):
We Well they made a seventeen buzzer.
Speaker 1 (34:23):
We promised that Demontabonis update suspense. No we We'll talk
about the Knicks in ten minutes. How about that.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
You're not gonna have time next week because they're gonna
be eliminated.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
No, listen, we have a Demanta Sibonis update.
Speaker 4 (34:37):
You think people care about that?
Speaker 3 (34:40):
You just.
Speaker 4 (34:42):
People with you The next season's over.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
No, it's one one way. There's there's the floating dumpster fighting.
Speaker 3 (34:52):
You're down the river with the.
Speaker 4 (34:53):
Rats are one win every couple of years. You just
stopped the parade, hang the banner, just stop.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Just because the NBA decided we're giving the Lakers a
bye for now the rest of the way to the finals.
Oh just stop and look. And because this plays into
potentially why Draymond Green was suspended as well. Right, Shams
Gerania has the update here and being insigner for Athletic
and Stage. Well, yeah, he's the one that said Draymond's
(35:23):
not getting suspended. But then we found out earlier today
Draymond's getting suspended. So Draymond gets suspended for a game
for stomping on Demnta Sebonis's uh stomach and a few
minutes ago, uh Shams tweeted out Sabonis has a sternhum
contusion and is questionable for Game three against the Warriors.
(35:45):
All right, now, how did he get that? I don't understand.
So here's the thing, and this is what would have looked.
This is why the NBA probably I would say likely
had The reason why they did this is because if
they don't suspend Draymond Green, right, And I love that
Adam Silver had the guts of you know, I felt
like a proud papa because I called him out. He
has no spine, he's terrible. He doesn't want to make
(36:07):
big decisions. He suspended Draymond Green. You know, he knew
exactly what the status of Demonta Sabonis was going to be.
And the fact that he's questionable for tomorrow. Now, whether
this is a little bit of gamesmanship by the by
the King say now we're gonna say he's questionable even
if he's fine. Imagine the optic if Draymond doesn't get
(36:29):
suspended and Sabonis misses Game three. I mean, how awful
does that look. You look like you're continuing to let
Draymond Green run rampant and you don't discipline him for
what he needed to be disciplined for, which was a
dirty play and he stepped on his stomach and there's
no room in the game for that. Draymond doesn't think
there's any rule room, but we all know there's no
room in the game for that. So can you imagine
(36:51):
that optic of no suspension for Draymond But Sabonis misses
the game, and again, maybe he plays. Maybe it's gamesmanship,
and hey we got Draymond out of the game. But
uh that I guarantee you that was a big reason
as to why, because if Sibonis was gonna play, I
could see where Adam Silver would say, yeah, yeah, everybody's fine,
lets god.
Speaker 3 (37:10):
Just play, Let's just play.
Speaker 1 (37:10):
Let's just play.
Speaker 3 (37:11):
We don't even know anything.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
Just play. Nobody called me anymore.
Speaker 5 (37:13):
I'm going on the cas Why did you make it
sound like Regis, let's play, let's play.
Speaker 1 (37:17):
Let's play right now. You don't want to be a millionaire,
come down.
Speaker 5 (37:20):
Right now now. I had to go back and celebrate
that historic run final laughs about it. And then when
he had the coffee table book that turns into a
coffee table, I mean, come on, that's just bonzo. Look,
so we we look at sibonas obviously if he's limited
in any capacity, hey, what a gift for the Warriors
that you know.
Speaker 3 (37:39):
Draymond did his job even though he suspended.
Speaker 5 (37:42):
I thought it was interesting that both players went to
get their X rays after the game.
Speaker 3 (37:46):
Now we have the chest contusion and.
Speaker 5 (37:48):
Drama was like, I don't know, he was grabbing out
my ankle pretty hard, so I had to go get
that checked out too. So the game's been ship all around,
all the damning video now of the way, the Warriors
bench responded, But yeah, so bonus. Now now we have
anxiousness ahead of the next game.
Speaker 1 (38:05):
So we have more in this developing story, including yet
another hot take on the Draymond Green situation and the
night in the NBA as well. And yes, we'll get
to the Knicks, both of you jerks. We'll get you Nicks.
It's next right here. Jason and Mike.
Speaker 3 (38:20):
Fuck they saw
