Speaker 1 (00:47):
No Joey Wendell with back to back error is gonna
single handedly lose this game for the Mets tonight.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
Oh my goodness.

Speaker 4 (00:54):
This you still have several at bats remaining.

Speaker 3 (00:56):
This is just awful. It's just terrible. Actually, the Dodgers
four to two.

Speaker 1 (01:01):
Dodgers, though, do have the bases loaded with two outs
in the bottom of the six thanks to Joey Wendell
two grounders to him to errors. Hey, the innings still
going Met's baseball.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
But before we.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Get into the NBA, let me just point this out
because what do I always tell you, Mike Carmen is
the worst investment in Major League baseball.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Lots of starting pitching and underutilized nachos.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Well, well, yes, underutilized nachos, definitely, But I'm looking forward
to my helmet nachos at Dodger Stadium Sunday.

Speaker 3 (01:31):
I'm sure you are.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
But I always say paying long term for starting pitching
is the worst investment you can make because so much
can go wrong. Nobody even gets midway through big deals
as a starting pitcher before you say we want to
get out of this deal.

Speaker 3 (01:46):
Forget about the end of the deal.

Speaker 1 (01:47):
Figure about the last couple of years where it's like, ah,
well you know the first five years, No, no, If
you get three years and it's hey, we got to
get out of this. Not that he signed a long
term deal, but it was a couple of years and
it is thirty million. But Blake Snell has just gotten
drilled since he started pitching this season. He was a
late signing with the Giants because he stayed out for

(02:10):
so long, and finally Scott Borz got the two year deal. Okay,
that's great. Took a while from to get going because
he signed so late. But here's his third start and
he's given He given up five runs the Diamondbacks in
his start tonight, and that's actually lowered his ra it's
actually his.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Start of the year.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
And he is sitting around with an era coming into
tonight that was over twelve and tonight, what have we
seen from Blake Snell in the game? Snell four and
a half innings, nine hits, five earned runs. Good, right,
this is not good? This is this is the Giant, Yes,
it is. I get it. It's only three starts. I

(02:50):
understand this, but wow, you paid a lot of money
to a guy who the only good years he had
was when he needed a contract, right, the only two
great years he had when I eat a contract. And
look what's going on now? Oh, doesn't need a contract,
not at least know a couple of years. Thirty million
this year, I cannopt it thirty million next year.

Speaker 3 (03:08):
And he has.

Speaker 1 (03:08):
Gotten drilled his first three times out with the Giants,
and again tonight tonight was probably what was this parguably
his best outing with the with the with the Giants
and the diamond Backs are beating him five to one.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
Going to the seventh thing.

Speaker 6 (03:21):
Jason my Cable went out, what's going on in the
Mets game?

Speaker 1 (03:24):
Oh, they canceled the game. They canceled the Mets Dodgers game.
Mets won four to two. They canceled the game. Uh
uh yes, okay, I'll tell you because the Dodger a dugout,
is so happy and they're congratulating Yamamoto for getting off
the hook. Uh, because Chris Taylor is just single to
left field thirty one slumped and yeah, he stayed.

Speaker 6 (03:45):
Looking at when he was hitting before that hit.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Yeah. And here's the other thing.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
You know what Re Garrett's era was before that zero?
He had not given up a run all year. He'd
been the best believer in baseball.

Speaker 3 (03:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:54):
But for Chris Taylor, I mean he should just walk
off the field right now.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
I mean that's it.

Speaker 6 (04:01):
I mean the Mets, I mean Taylor was he was
batting to eight.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Yeah, now he's sitting. He's sitting. He doubled his batting four.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
Now fifty four. And Red Garrett's ERA was zero coming
into this. I mean seriously, that's where it was. His
e RA was zero. Chris Taylor. Nope, but I'm gonna
get behind in the count and I'm gonna bounce a
curveball on two and one and then Taylor rips won
the left four hit.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
Now the game is.

Speaker 6 (04:26):
Taking still zero. By the way, it was unearned.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Yeah, your guys errors helped that. Yeah, So I mean
that's good.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Yeah, Joey Wendall, you know, and just.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
Really quick, just because I gotta say this is that,
you know, the one thing about the Mets, it's been
a great start. Look, that had a horrible start, but
it's been a great start to the season. They're playing well.
They should be a little bit over five hundred. That's
where they are. I really love everything they're doing. They're
at bats are great, They're doing everything well. The one
thing that gets me is that, boy, all these signings
the Mets had in the off season was because we're

(04:56):
gonna make ourselves better defensively, we're gonna save runs, because
that's one of the worst team and for our defensive
save runs last year and right now they have the
fourth worst fielding percentage of major League base Yeah, they
signed Bader for center field. He was a Gold Glove
caliber player. Wendell's a good. Although we we are getting better,
we make sure that fielding we're going to be terrific
and it's not worked out.

Speaker 3 (05:16):
And we have the four.

Speaker 6 (05:17):
Words of the Great Bob.

Speaker 3 (05:19):
They're the bleeping mats. That's true. Bob's like twenty seven.

Speaker 5 (05:23):
Now, well sure you know nine to ninety one career
fielding average for Wendell.

Speaker 3 (05:32):
Yeah, yeah, no, not anymore.

Speaker 5 (05:34):
That's that's just because we like to bring specificity to things.

Speaker 6 (05:38):
I want to tell you that Bob remember he lived
in Kansas City. Uh huh, what if I were to
tell you he was chief Saholic.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
Before you before you even said it. I'm like, I
know where he's going.

Speaker 3 (05:49):
Oh no, Bob called our show. He was nine. We
but no, so he's he's like in college now, he's
like almost.

Speaker 6 (05:57):
We haven't taken phone calls in ten years.

Speaker 3 (05:59):
No, I mean, well we've only been on too. We've
been on ten years, ten years.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
I've been debating bringing it back from my own amusement.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Oh man, what you want Bob to call you at home?
I'm sure we'll call you home.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
No, not Bob, just in general.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
He'll call you, Bub will play it them, he'll be fun. Uh.
So that's what's happening.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
The Mets get out of the sixth inning for four
Metro Dodgers and uh yeah, the Giants and Blake Snell
still trail the Diamondbacks five to one.

Speaker 3 (06:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:25):
I always say, I look and I go, who Glad
it wasn't me that gave him that contract. Glad it
wasn't me the game contract.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Oh Toani, He's got a hit with runners in scoring position,
so that's good. But the thing with Snell, right, they
he did orchestrate it properly from his perspective of because
he does have a player option, So I guess you
know he wins. But for the team, that's the dumbest
thing you could have done, because he's gonna opt in.

(06:52):
It's like just kind of pitch to whatever, because that
thirty two million dollars is already sitting out there.

Speaker 6 (06:58):
They were desperate, Mike, And.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
What do we say about desperation.

Speaker 6 (07:03):
It's a stinky Colonne damn right.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
Uh So again, I guess if I want to look
at positives here on Friday night, as upset as I
am the Mets blow this lead, I'm buoyed by the
fact we didn't sign Blake snow so that's good.

Speaker 5 (07:16):
I guess, well, and you're tied. You know you got
three more at bats.

Speaker 6 (07:20):
Yeah, you have four more next games left.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
We'll find a way to blow this game. We'll find
a way to blow this Trust me.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
We've already already played a four nothing lead, and we
blew it. We blew it because we can't feel the ball.

Speaker 3 (07:29):
We blew it. We blew it.

Speaker 6 (07:30):
It's over it and you only have four next games left.

Speaker 3 (07:33):
Tonight is over. No stop, man, just stop, dude, just
stop speaking of being over. Though. It is over for
the Sacramento Kings. Both NBA Final play in.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
Games are won by the teams that we didn't think
we're gonna win.

Speaker 3 (07:49):
No, we had the heat.

Speaker 4 (07:51):
Well, I did pick the Night because you I know
why you said it. Because the footballs stink.

Speaker 3 (07:58):
That's the only reason I I believe.

Speaker 5 (08:00):
At the end, when I asked for more analysis, you
just said, the bulls really stink.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Really stink.

Speaker 5 (08:07):
Yes, that's why I picked the with the dramatic pause
as if you did an extra three minutes of analysis.

Speaker 3 (08:12):
Really stink. That's the only reason.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
It's the only reason, buddy, I would have picked the
Bulls if not for the fact that the bulls sneak.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Now you just don't want me to have nice things either.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
No, I bet, buddy, I knew this was gonna happen
to you. Man, Heat culture, heat culture.

Speaker 5 (08:26):
God boy him me hawkes Kevin Love off the bench
as soon as soon as I look, and I'm watching
Kevin Love. He's ten for ten from the free throw
line before he's made a shot, and he ends up
making two of his three point attempts, finishes the night
with sixteen, and Frostburg last night, he just joked, he

(08:46):
said it'll be the Kevin Love game. Sure enough, Tyler
heroes a lunatic nearly a triple double after a terrible
night A couple of nights ago. Hawks is out there. Leadership,
Oh look at it, veteran savvy as a rookie. One
of the great monologues ever. Because the game was getting
out of hand, and then there's Kevin Love. It's like
the basketball gods hate me as well.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
He see him score forty because Frostburg said, hey, wait,
he scores forty.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
At least it wasn't forty.

Speaker 5 (09:14):
Well if that happened, yeah, but like at that point, yeah,
it was all U C l A all the time.
But see eight class la blank harmon. That sounds about right. Yeah. Look,
and if he had scored forty, that's one of those
where you do that shrug. Remember that guy that used

(09:36):
to throw quarters with Jordan, the thing we saw in
the last Dance that premiered four years ago. Remember that
guy became a meme flipping quarters with him in the
hallway and he didn't the shrug thing. Yeah, if Kevin
Love scores forty on you in a playoff game is
shrug and take the l exactly.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
The Haley Van shrug. What do you want me to do? Guard?

Speaker 4 (09:56):
I got nothing to do exactly.

Speaker 1 (09:59):
So, yes, the Bulls I picked the heat last night,
even without Jimmy Butler missing a couple other players, mainly
because the Bulls stink. Because there is a difference in
in overall competitiveness in the playing round. Right, we get
to we think that all the teams in the playing
round or are the same, and when they lose, they stink,

(10:21):
and when they win, hey, these are great playoff teams.

Speaker 3 (10:23):
Now not always right.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
When you're a seven or eight seed and you win
a game, you're you're a team that finished ten eleven
games over five hundred and you play another team ten
eleven games over five hundred, you win. Hey, those are
a couple of good teams you want, I feel pretty
good about you. But when you're a team that won
thirty nine games and you beat a team that won
thirty six games by twenty, you're not good. You're just

(10:47):
a little bit better than the other.

Speaker 5 (10:49):
Team that you can bet who's on the schedule, pal,
But that team really stinks. You just stink. But I mean,
you only needed to come up with a big effort
one night, one night only, like just in Mama stop.

Speaker 1 (11:01):
There was just because there were two games that night
and the Bulls were one of them. We think all
the Bulls are great. No, the Bulls think and then
you know tonight the Bulls really stink.

Speaker 3 (11:09):
They stink.

Speaker 1 (11:10):
I mean heat culture, but they stink, and they stunk tonight,
and that's what happened.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
They're not good. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:17):
It first quarter was just unbelievable. Was it a nineteen
oh run? The memes were relentless, really funny, but relentless.

Speaker 2 (11:26):
Uh.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
And obviously with Rhinesdorff in the news of what they're
talking about doing with the cable uh subscriptions and everything
else of those properties, Uh, it's only appropriate that they
get drugged on the same night that the White Sox
get shut out for the seventh time. It's April nineteenth.
They have been shut out seven times. And that was

(11:49):
the highlight of my sports day, thank you very much.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
Yeah, that's not that's not a highlight. That's not a
good You know what.

Speaker 4 (11:55):
Sometimes you gotta take what you can. That's just to
light the beam. At least that hey, at least that
game went.

Speaker 3 (12:00):
Yeah, that's true. That's true.

Speaker 5 (12:01):
If White Sox don't score and only have two hits,
ain't a long game.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
So look, what you take away for the last few
minutes is that the bulls stink. All right, just make
sure you have that takeaway that the bulls stink. The
heat go on, and hey, great win by the heat.
They gout it up. I'm embarrassed for the Sacramento Kings
that they lost this terrible I mean, this is I mean,
this is different. This is Yes, two teams that finished
ten twelve games over five hundred. But the Pelicans were

(12:28):
a team that had quit outside of Zion Williamson against
the Lakers, and Zion said, no, I'm gonna bring you
all the way back. He gets hurt at the end,
the Lakers win. This game was made for the Pelicans
to quit. The Kings are the better team. You're talking
about the Pelicans without Zion, that's it. And the Kings
came in here and this wasn't a game. From the
midway point part of the second quarter to the end,

(12:50):
the Pelicans went on a run. They turned an eight
point deficit into a seven point lead. Ever, they went
up thirty nine to thirty one when they were down
like thirty one to twenty four. It was an incredible
run and the Kings never even threatened after that. I'm
embarrassed for the Kings, Like this is a team that
are they gonna be like the Kings from fifteen years ago,
where it's hey, hey look they have all this talent,
but they just can't They just can't find a way

(13:12):
to win. Because this is a more talented team what
they put on the floor tonight versus what the Pelicans
put on the floor. They had allthmentum, they had won
a game, and they couldn't even turn this into a
matchup at all.

Speaker 3 (13:23):
I mean, this is just insane.

Speaker 5 (13:25):
Ben scoring thirty four to twelve, tail of the tape
getting it done six players in double figures. Brandon Ingram
look like a much different player than we saw earlier
this week. The cutaways to Zion, I gotta be thinking
in his head, like, where the hell was this effort
from you guys the other night?

Speaker 3 (13:44):
Where was the hell? Damn it. I'm just embarrassed for
the Kings, it really is.

Speaker 1 (13:49):
And this is gonna force me to not do my
big pick that I want to do, which is, yeah,
the four low seeds in the Western Conference, cause I
can't pick the Pelicans. I'm not gonna pick the Pelicans
without Zion to beat the Thunder. I mean, come on, man,
that's not gonna happen.

Speaker 3 (14:02):
I can't do that. They ruined it.

Speaker 1 (14:04):
It would have been such a great parlay because I
had confidence in the Kings.

Speaker 3 (14:07):
Kings let me down, obviously, That's what just happened.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
Here here you go, King, last last stat from the
Kings fifty eight, twenty one and twelve. That's the combined
stat line for dearon Fox and simbonus, and they still
got drummed.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
So embarrassed for the Kings. But remember the bull steak
twitter at how about a fresco Mike gets swollen down
the Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon. Hey, Frostburg,
I'm sorry to have to ask you this, buddy. I'm
sorry again. My cable was out Friday night. My cable
went out again. What did Francisco Lindor just do with

(14:43):
a runner? At first I missed it because.

Speaker 6 (14:45):
He looked ran clubhouse saying somebody was a rat.

Speaker 1 (14:50):
I saw him coming up to bat, and then I
saw him shaking hands in the dug.

Speaker 6 (14:55):
Departed.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
I don't know. I don't what did Francisco Lindor do
in that last.

Speaker 6 (14:59):
I have no idea you think. I'm still watching.

Speaker 1 (15:04):
Francisco Lindor to run Homer as lags a six to
four lead over the Dodgers as they.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
Continue to prove Jason Bonham still loading the seven.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
All right, So coming up, we have more from the
big night in the NBA. Yo, we have more in
the Bulls really being really bad, but an NFL story
that I really can't believe we're still talking about.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon live from the tire rack dot Com Studios. Now,
before we get to an NFL story that I really
can't believe we're talking about, you got to help me
out with some here, Harmon, because you're the expert here. Okay,
So last night Taylor Swift dropped what thirty one songs?
Thirty one songs, thirty one songs, okay, yeah.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
And apparently two hours of music. Yeah, it's a lot
of music.

Speaker 6 (16:36):
She dated thirty one guys last year.

Speaker 3 (16:38):
No, no, no, no was come on, it was only
Travis Kelces.

Speaker 6 (16:41):
She was dating Travis. Yeah, stop that breakup songs.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
Well maybe she wrote a get together song with Kelsey,
and she's got the breakup song on her holster, Like
I'm waiting for that. I could just pull out and
I could be song thirty two. So she had a
track that apparently people think refer Now you know her
songs better than I do. Yeah, but they put a
track out that apparently people are saying reference sky Moore

(17:07):
and Cadarius Tony like uh like like she you had
a lyric about how uh oh you'll get rid of
you clowns.

Speaker 3 (17:14):
I'm coming, I'm coming to the game, get rid of
you clowns.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Whatever it was like, and people are saying, oh, this
is Cadarius Tony and sky Moore. It's about the bad
wide receivers achieves that last year.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
Yeah, that one.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
I haven't I haven't parsed through that to that just yet.
So that's interesting. Yeah, I don't.

Speaker 3 (17:33):
I don't know that.

Speaker 4 (17:33):
I've not seen that yet.

Speaker 1 (17:35):
Like they won the super Bowl, so it's like, is
she like I could see if you lost the Super Bowl?
You're met at Kadarius Tony because the guy stinks and
he lined up off side, But like, I is she
really got that much dislike for Kadarius Tony she'd put
him in a song.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (17:50):
I don't think.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
Yeah, I know we have the one with Kim Kardashian
and that and that one's there, the thank you Amy thing,
which kind of interesting because you had the uh what
was it Britney Spears all those years ago, had that
song about Amy. Sure, you can't say it, don't say it,
don't say it. Yeah, No, I just can't say the

(18:10):
name of the song. Just no, that's right, but the possible,
you know. I haven't parsed through it all. I haven't
decoded all the messages yet. It because by time it
dropped here it was midnight. Tired, man, I'm.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Old, okay, all right, But you had all day though,
I mean, all you do is peruse the internet and
send stories about McDonald's to me.

Speaker 3 (18:29):
That's that's every day. It's what you do.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
Or if something happens in some rat population has risen
up in the world, like you didn't have time.

Speaker 3 (18:36):
To listen to the songs.

Speaker 5 (18:38):
Well, I was listening to them, but not actively the
same way. I mean, there's there's a lot to do
there in the course of the day.

Speaker 3 (18:43):
Yeah, But but.

Speaker 1 (18:44):
You're a swifty like no, I am you can't. You're
not a Swifty if you didn't listen to or something swift.

Speaker 4 (18:50):
No.

Speaker 5 (18:50):
No, look, there's listening and then there's listening. Right, you
do a first take, right, you do the first take,
and you listen to the album all the way through,
and then you you have your your opinions. And I
had my discussions with a couple of the songs with
my daughters. But have I gone through with a fine
tooth comb and parsed through all the lyrics. No, I
have not, not as of yet. That is a weekend chore.

Speaker 1 (19:11):
But this could have been news like you could be hey,
because you're a Swiftian. You make bracelets and you go
to the concerts and all this other stuff, and you know,
you coordinate your outfits every day to the same color
pattern she has. You do all these things, like you
could have broken this story. Hey, No, this is not
about Kadarius Tony. This is about earlier in the season
and Noah Gray when he was playing.

Speaker 3 (19:31):
I mean, you could have done that, but you didn't. Yeah,
I'm not a newsbreaker. You you're not.

Speaker 1 (19:38):
You're not a swifty now apparently because at least you
know there's a bunch of people on the payroll and
folks that are getting all these nice welcome baskets and whatever.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
I've not gotten any of those from the Swift department,
uh as we sit here tonight.

Speaker 4 (19:52):
But in terms of parsing out the lyrics, no, I
did not.

Speaker 5 (19:54):
I did not see any illusions and nor do I
see any And in a quick search of the inner
webs to kind of describe this, there is some rumors
off Reddit accounts of who people are dating that are
Chiefs players and perhaps people of the larger Swift entourage.
But no, I've not seen anything about Kadarius Tony and lyrics.

Speaker 3 (20:14):
It's disappointed you disappointed me. You really should have had that.

Speaker 1 (20:16):
This is this is your wheelhouse man, the bull sucking
Northwestern and Taylor Swift like that's that's the three things
that I that I know I can rely on you
for every day and now you come up so small with.

Speaker 3 (20:29):
Taylor Swift here this is this is this is wow.
I thought I know you. I thought I did well.

Speaker 5 (20:35):
You know what, even Atlas took a day off once
in a while, but not when new songs.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
If you're a Swift, do you listen to the songs
like you don't go a day. Like I said, the
songs I listened to them today. No, no, I'm the swift.
I didn't say that. I said I listened to them.
But there's listening and then there's listening. Right, there's here
in Jimmy, and then there's here in Jimmy. Now this
is you're out. If I put an He's Swifty on

(21:00):
the air right now, it said, hey, let the story
you just told me about your day. What I say,
does Harmon get to stay as swifty? They would say, no,
you're out? What's his address? What's his digital footprint? We
want to make sure he no longer represents himself as
a swifty No, that's fine. I mean you're out, Greg,
You're out of the circle of trust.

Speaker 5 (21:16):
You're out if that's what it comes down to, because
I did not spend my day going through, line by
line thirty one songs, two hours worth of music. But
that's what you were supposed to do for a conversation
I didn't think we were having today.

Speaker 1 (21:33):
It's what you were supposed to do as a swifty man.
You what do you mean, Taylor Swift, Travis Kelcey, Jeez,
it's in.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
The wheelhouse, man, We're in the Wheelhouse.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
Yes, there are a couple of songs that clearly are
in the Upswing. Look, it is not a happy album, newsflash.

Speaker 6 (21:49):
Like we are on. iHeart Taylor right now, you gotta yeah,
come on, man.

Speaker 1 (21:52):
This is this is this is part of the email
that went out today from our bosses about Taylor Swift.

Speaker 3 (21:58):
Are really all thirty one song? Said, boy, that would stink.

Speaker 5 (22:01):
Most of the virtually all of them are are kind
of sad poems. Okay, like, yeah, it's it's it's definitely
a different listen not.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Not as puppy. All right, well that's that's that. That's
certainly an artistic choice. Okay, that's fine, all right, that's fine.
I just gotta know I can't, I I it's a
lot of catharsis. I can't. I can't rely on you
for for that, and I just know I can't.

Speaker 5 (22:24):
It's okay, if that's if that's the way it has
to be, as I rely on you for for nothing
except for METS updates.

Speaker 3 (22:31):
You're a fake swifty, You're a f s fake swifty. You.
I bet your jewelry is fake. I bet I bet you.

Speaker 1 (22:36):
I bet you never listened to any one of her songs. Ever,
give me one word from one of her songs.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
All the time.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
I can't do it, can't do it, can't do it.
You gave one song, one word from one of her songs.
Could have just said shake, You could have said it.
You could have said off, it's any of those words
I said the I said, no, the is not. I'm
looking right now space. AI is showing me the is
not in any way.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Space. Baby, Now write your name. You just looked it up.
You just looked it up. Now I can't Mike.

Speaker 6 (23:05):
When you're done with your TPS reports, the BOMs want
to see you.

Speaker 5 (23:08):
Hey, if this is how it ends for me, that's
one hell of a run. It's like I always saying,
I don't want to die from your standard ordinary heart attack.
I wanted to have some kind of power to it.
So it gets a couple extra lines in the newspaper
like that, or or a couple more lines of being
debated of Wow, what a way he went out In
sports talk radio land, you guys will just move on

(23:29):
and start talking about Nixon and the Dodgers and the Mets.
But somewhere somebody would care now speaking of how it
ends and blank you all I.

Speaker 1 (23:39):
Can't believe, Fake Swifty. I can't believe we're still talking
about this story. Big NFL headline today. Zach Wilson is
away from the Jets workouts while he's on the trade block.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
Okay, just think about that for a second.

Speaker 6 (23:53):
Big deal.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Zach Wilson is away from the Jets while he's on
the trade block. Zack Wilson, who was so bad last
offseason they couldn't even last year. They couldn't say we're
bringing him back as the backup. He was benched a
couple of times. He wasn't good enough two years ago,
but he was good enough to be the backup when
they got Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 3 (24:12):
Which is stupid because, hey, man, uh.

Speaker 1 (24:16):
What happens if Aaron Rodgers gets hurt? Guess who's gotta play?
The guy you said was no good. The owner comes
out and says, yeah, we didn't have a quarterback last year,
did n't have a backup. We got another guy killing
all of Zach Wilson's trade value. Zach Wilson's not on
the trade block. Man, nobody wants the guy. First of all,
you gotta pay him six million dollars this year if

(24:37):
you trade for him, No one's gonna trade for a
guy who at best will be a third string quarterback,
because that's what no one signed to be the backup.
He's the number three quarterback quarterback, yes, top he wills.

Speaker 3 (24:50):
No way.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
I can't believe. Just cut him, just let him go.
Why are you doing this right? You're not bringing him back.
It's not happening. What did the Jets think is actually
gonna happen? Someone's gonna say, yes, after the draft, we
need a number three quarterback again. All the jobs are taken,
all the starting jobs are taken, all the backup jobs
are taken. No one wants Zack Wilson unless he is

(25:11):
an emergency third string quarterback, where a team could say, okay,
if he agrees to stay with us and we wind
up getting a couple of injuries, at least we have
a guy that can go in a game, who has
starting experience.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
Okay, at least we have that.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
Because there's worse third string quarterbacks you could have than
Zach Wilson. That's it, though, that's what they want. No
one's gonna give Peyton pay six million dollars a year
for that guy, no one. No one's gonna give you
a draft pick for him. What are you insane? No
one cares if you cut him, No one cares. You
have Aaron Rodgers. He's back, he's healthy. Just stop doing
all these stupid ass interviews. Aaron, and you have a

(25:47):
backup quarterback that you liked, that has succeeded in as
a backup as a starter, And to Rod Taylor, no
one cares. Why is this even a headline? Why even
talking about Zach Wilson as a Jet? Just let him go.
I mean, maybe nobody signs him. I mean really, maybe
nobody signed to say, you know what, good luck in
the UFL, good luck playing in Canada. The kid is
a bigger field. Throw all across the way. Maybe and

(26:09):
come back in ten years like Doug Flutie. But I mean, really,
I don't understand how the Jets hold on him, how
they think he's on the trading block. Anybody could have
had him for nothing in the last couple of months,
and yet he's still there. He's not on the block.
He's somebody nobody wants. So just end this charade.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
And let the guy go. It's time.

Speaker 5 (26:28):
Well, maybe they never actually put him on the block.
Maybe he's still just a quote a bloke warming the bench.
He outs he playing in England. Now he's a bloke. Well,
but I mean that's the lyrics that are that you're
kind of going to from the alchemy Taylor Swift.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
No, no, you can't go. But now you can't go
back and try to get points on Taylor Swift.

Speaker 5 (26:49):
Now no, no, I've already seeded that battle.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
I'm out. You're out.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
I'll go find someone else to create an allegiance with.

Speaker 1 (26:56):
You were defeated, you lost the war Waterlooarman's defeat.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
Well, July first, I'll go see the avatars and they'll
embrace me.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
Look, at this point, he's still a jed.

Speaker 3 (27:08):
So what are you gonna do.

Speaker 4 (27:09):
You still have to do is put the best foot forward.

Speaker 3 (27:11):
Cats.

Speaker 5 (27:12):
I can't believe we still got him here, but hey,
that's what it is. You can't go in front of
the microphone and do that Smith. He's still your guy,
and you're still trying to either convince yourselves that he
has value for you, or maybe some team that doesn't
get what they want in the draft, or an injury
befalls a quarterback in training or mini camps to come

(27:36):
that there's some value still there because remember, I mean,
he's still a kid right on the grand scale. He's
younger than a bunch of these guys that are getting
drafted this week. And you can say, well, if you
get him out of here, he could be better.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
I mean again, you can't say that in front of
the microphone.

Speaker 5 (27:51):
But maybe that's what some folks can say, is that
if he comes to our system, we can make him better. Right.
It's like the mac Jones conversations that we've had for
the last couple of years.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
Now.

Speaker 5 (28:02):
I don't ever claim that the guy was going to
be an A list top ten starter, but I don't
think he got a fair shot when you got you know,
defensive coordinators and a let's pass the hat for play
calling going on in New England the last couple of
years for him, if he'd landed in one of the
more stable organizations these last couple of years, and that's
funny to say with New England, right, just how it

(28:24):
destabilized it got fast, is that he probably could have
had a better run.

Speaker 3 (28:28):
Add the COVID year, add all that.

Speaker 5 (28:30):
Stuff that changed up the evaluations that Zach Wilson, they
may still be trying to convince themselves what they saw
on tape once upon a time is still there in
a break glass in case of emergency format. I know
you don't want to hear it because you want to,
you know, turn the page seeger style.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
Right, But here you are.

Speaker 1 (28:48):
If you trade for him, you got to give him
nearly six million dollars for this year. And no one's
going to give six million dollars to a quarterback who's
going to be a third stringth guy. So it's like, yeah,
maybe he draws a little bit of interest if he's
let go, right, Like, I firmly believe that, Hey, well
the team bring him in. You saw the way teams
went through quarterbacks last year. I told Brown it's been crazy. Yeah,

(29:08):
the Browns need to have six or seven guys, right
if they're going to try to make it sure this season.
But no one's going to pay six million dollars for
a third string quarterback. Jets will and that's what it is. Well,
the Jets are they're paying to have him not be
their third string quarterback pretty soon.

Speaker 6 (29:23):
Jason, I disagree. This is a very big deal. How
many starting quarterbacks in the NFL miss voluntary workouts?

Speaker 1 (29:29):
No, it's a big deal. Wait till he starts with
the Chargers. Wait wait, wait, wait till you guys.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
Sign him and say, hey, you know I really always
like this.

Speaker 5 (29:37):
You know what, if he's really good, if they build
the offensive line that say the way they're going to uh,
then he can hand the ball.

Speaker 3 (29:43):
Off just as effectively.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
I just think as Zach Wilson, those powder Blues handing
the ball off, putting his hands to his headphone to
the ear holes, like I don't know what you're trying
to tell me, because I was always looking out of
his face like he was scared out of his.

Speaker 6 (29:55):
Mind when the helmets on your head.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
So I'll just think about that, Zach Wilson number two
coming out, just giving the ball the former uh overrated
and and and past their prime Ravens running backs.

Speaker 3 (30:08):
Oh, that's gonna be so much.

Speaker 5 (30:09):
Look at you now, you're trying to stomp on Gus
Edwards and JK.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Dobbins. How dare are you.

Speaker 6 (30:15):
Gonna point you out? Sunday I'm gonna yell this guy
hates show. Hey, get him.

Speaker 5 (30:21):
He's walking around like you gonna say anything with the
boom box. No, he's playing back our takes from all
the skepticism.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
Here's I'm gonna show Hey and Epe.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Here's where I'm gonna get frost Breck. I'm gonna go.

Speaker 4 (30:32):
That's Epee right there, that's Epee.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
Get him. That's till I get you, Frostburg.

Speaker 1 (30:37):
The Jason Smith Show is my best friend Mike carbon
And yes I also have that. Actually I was the
first one to say that the bulls actually stink, because
they do.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
They stink so much.

Speaker 5 (30:46):
I'm having a banner night here on a Friday here.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Coming up next after Big News today, it is time
to wave goodbye to one long time sports evil. Empire's
next right here, Jason Fox.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (31:12):
Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (31:17):
Well maybe it's.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Actually good for Blake Snell tonight. He's not the worst
Giants pitcher tonight. And he did have his e array
go down a full run with his outing tonight. He
hated twelve point six o er and now it's down
to eleven point five to seven, So is the array.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
Is now a little bit.

Speaker 4 (31:37):
The long road begins with the first step.

Speaker 1 (31:39):
You know, he left the game. It was only six
to one. I mean, now it's fifteen one, Diamondbacks over
the Giants. But yeah, hey, look at the posites. If
you're Blake Snell, I mean, yes, you look at the
posits when you get your check twice a month.

Speaker 3 (31:49):
No, that's the bigger thing. Yeah, that's the bigger posit.

Speaker 5 (31:52):
Right when the Czech deposits and you're back home playing
video games, you're all good.

Speaker 1 (31:58):
So yeah, Diamondbacks all over the Giants, fifteen to one
in the eighth. Meanwhile, Starling Marte, a single to center,
has driven in two Mets runs. They lead the Dodgers
now eight four as the Dodgers bat in the bottom
of the eighth.

Speaker 3 (32:12):
But as we'll have more baseball, more NFL coming up.

Speaker 1 (32:16):
This story out of Basketball today, and it's kind of
a sad story because it really is just hammering the
point home that this evil empire is done and it's
bad because we love evil empires and sports. There's so
much they're just as much fun, if not more fun,
than the empires that we love, Like, hey, we love
the Bulls Dynasty. Oh we hate the Yankees, But the

(32:38):
Evil Empire was more fun. Duke forward Sean Stewart right,
he was a former top twenty recruit in his class
last year, announced today he's going to enter the transfer portal.
He is now the seventh Duke player to transfer since
the end of the season. Remember yesterday, wait yesterday, No, No,
yesterday was TJ Power who decided to enter the portal.

(33:00):
Duke has two players right now. They do have a
great recruiting class coming in. And it's not that Duke
is bad. It's not like they're bad like they've since
Mike Krzyzewski retired they've been terrible. No, They've won a
lot of games. They've done pretty well. And look they
they could have almost a Final four team this year.
They played pretty well.

Speaker 3 (33:16):
And you know curiosity, sure, yeah, look.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
And they look they have they have the number one
recruiting class in the country coming in next year.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
But you know, how do we react to Duke now? Eh?

Speaker 1 (33:26):
We kind of shrug And this just this just sends
it home. Seven players now leaving Duke. Duke has become
just another basketball team in college bass, just another good
team like Carolina or Kansas or UCLA or Ohio State
or whoever it is. They're just another good team. They're
no longer the Evil Empire because we just don't care

(33:47):
about them as much as we did. And maybe it
has to do with the fact that Mike Krzyzewski retired
it was easier.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
To hate them.

Speaker 1 (33:53):
But you know, it's a combination of a lot of things.
It's it's yes, coach k has gone. The players don't
stay long enough to hate anymore, because boy, how much
are they fun to hate? When Grayson Allen was there
tripping guys and everything else, Yeah, they were fun. Now
guys are leaving. Kyle Philipowski, who was, Hey, he was
fun this year. Oh wait a bit, he's going to
the NBA. So there's a combination of things that gets

(34:15):
you to this level. But and get you to this answer.
But this story right here, You know, guys didn't leave
Duke like this. They never left Duke like this. You're
looking to go someplace where you can play and be
on the national map and make the NBA. Seven guys
leaving seven guys, I mean they're like a latter day Kentucky.
He's gonna have new guys coming in every year, cycling through.
And look at what happened to Kentucky's job, and Calipari's

(34:37):
not there and now they're trying to make it work
with Mark Pope. Duke is just another team now, and
even if they made the Final four, there wouldn't be
fans running around going, oh, Duke is back and look
how great this is what a look back at the past,
it would be oh, yeah, Duke is said, Yeah, no,
they're pretty good. They have so and so and so
and so, and this is a big deal for John Shire.
I mean, Duke has met with so much more of
a shrug over the last couple of years. They are

(35:00):
no longer the evil Empire and they no longer moved
the needle like they used to. It's a shame, but
it's the truth. And this story just puts that home.

Speaker 5 (35:07):
Well, you've only got one Final four in what twenty years,
plus a championship, right, so that's it. Otherwise a lot
of early exits, some lead eights, some sweet sixteens, a
bunch of those. But yeah, the Krzyzewski departure is huge.
I mean, just remember Duke, when you know, the first
guys started declaring early how that was the antithesis of

(35:30):
everything that they were, and part of the hate was, yeah,
you watched you know, Wojo, how many years do that
of eligibility that guy have? Right, it's the jokes we
make now, the COVID years, transfer years, all of that stuff.
That Hey, that guy seems like he's been there a
decade and so it was familiarity. That's the guy you
watched and didn't like the year before. Now it's just

(35:51):
the order of doing business. Guys thinking I'm gonna get
more minutes, which gives me more opportunity to ab seen.
But b maybe get into the ni al bag a
little bigger. I don't know how well Duke's world is
structured obviously from the larger corporate deals. You know, you've
still got the brand name. But you know, for some

(36:11):
of the secondary and tertiary things, I mean, it's something
your school and my school we're slow to get get
involved with. And for Northwestern and Syracuse those should have
been two very huge things of competitive advantages. Maybe Duke's
in the same boat that way, So it's not helping
Shire out in that regard.

Speaker 1 (36:28):
Yeah, Look, that's a great point too. It's it's because
it's not just one thing. It's all I can put.
It's just a bunch of things that has taken this
down and that could be that could be one of
them too, Maybe the next head come more nil more
all of this but the point Duke has become just
another team and boy it's happened. Fast exit out about
a Fresca exit swalling down The Jason Smith Show with

(36:49):
my best friend Mike Carman coming up next. Hey, we
have a big story Friday night involving Dak and the Cowboys.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
Check out what he had to say tonight next
