Speaker 3 (01:08):
You know what's not there? What's that the fries? Jason forgot?

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Hey? I ordered Popeyes for everybody, and it's getting delivered,
all right, get off my back, all put it. Hey, look, chickens,
not my chicken jockey. Hey, look, it's not my fault
if they haven't gotten here yet, store dash, Okay, I
paid for it. It's not my fault. We're getting friend,
you're getting French fries and we're getting chicken. You're getting

(01:32):
chicken and French fries coming. That's okay. Hey, have you
ever heard of Vietnam? Larry, you've heard of that.

Speaker 4 (01:40):
By the way, if you're out there listening or you
have our chicken, you don't know whether it's Jason's or mine,
so you leave it.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
Alone, all right. So before we get to the NFL,
like you know, like I said, I had a great
stat for you. We're finishing up our baseball night. Is
it a stat on chicken and or French fries? I
believe these teams sell a lot of fries because you
got to do some thing to okay, keep yourself from
screaming obscenities at their play. The worst MLB record since

(02:06):
June thirteenth, Uh Mets, No, the Mets have one of
the worst. Like the Mets have like the second I
think the Mets and Dodgers are in like the bottom
five of the worst records in baseball well since June thirteen.

Speaker 4 (02:17):
Number five, the White Sox okay, number four, the Mets
go okay, Nationals are number three, Twins number two, and
of course these Rockies that we're watching tonight getting smelled.
Uh twenty seven, thirty one and thirty.

Speaker 1 (02:32):
Two wins going Trump. The Dodgers terrible. Now, the Dodgers
are right there, they're right there. The Dodgers are absolutely
right there. Their record has been a bus But you're
just as bad as we've been the last few months.
It's just you were better than we were the first
couple of months. You take that back right now, that's
all man back, which is we're the Mets where again,
when there's ten games left, the Mets will be three

(02:53):
games out of a playoff spot. That's how bad it.
It's just it just how it's going.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Man.

Speaker 2 (02:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
But you got to see all the kids, so that's good. Yeah,
that's great.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
That's great. That's great, that's great.

Speaker 5 (03:02):
And the kids are all right. Uh see, a perfect
game from the grond.

Speaker 1 (03:06):
It could be you might immaculate inning from de Grom
nine pitches nine.

Speaker 5 (03:11):
And you don't think the Mets fans will give him
a standing ovation while he throws a perfect game on them.

Speaker 1 (03:16):
Oh, I know, I think Mets fans will leave at
that point. Now he turns back on us. He wanted
to leave, man, he wanted no taxes. He wanted to
go here, you go, go to grom Go. We paid you.
I can't.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
I can't fault a good strategy. I mean, that's millions
of dollars of cost savings every year. So as I
said tonight, look, we need extra doses of fun here
to grabs away from from the the the horrible stuff
that's been going on today. That Charlie Kirk situation is
just awful. Uh So I have some great trivia tonight.
I told you my wife does trivia every Wednesday night.

(03:47):
I always bring you guys the best sports questions. I
have one, two, three sports questions yep for you from tonight.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
Why are we gonna do our show and be part
of that that contest? Then we can in that bar.

Speaker 3 (04:00):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
The next time they do it on a Sunday, there
we go. Because Sunday is a big That's when I
go with Sundays because I'm you know, I'm hanging out
with you lunatics the rest of them.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Man, it's kind of a football got a thing now,
Sunday night football or trivia with Smith.

Speaker 1 (04:11):
You guys all get a shot at this. Okay, okay,
so well, Harmon, Frostburg, Ty Shirt, and Monsey, right, all
get a shot at these. Now. The first question is
tay shirt only?

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (04:24):
First question is tay shirt only?

Speaker 2 (04:26):
Hi?

Speaker 1 (04:27):
All right on?

Speaker 3 (04:29):
Okay?

Speaker 1 (04:29):
Yes, the only one because Harmon and Frostburg are gonna
get this.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
Is it because I'm a big sports fan?

Speaker 1 (04:34):
Is that like huge? You just discovered sports a few
weeks ago. Yes, so here's your first question. But he's
like AI, he's learning fast. Frostburg, You cat, you can't
tell me the answer. Sam Innkee's tenure, a seventy six
ers general manager, prompted the fans to come up with
the slogan trust the blank process. Wow, very good.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
That's straight out of ty Shirts tower a trivia right there,
A seven point question?

Speaker 1 (05:01):
Okay, okay, okay, all right, Now here's one. Here's one
for everybody. Now that all you got, every This is
for everybody, everybody, jump in here. Midway Video Game Company
made a series of unrealistically violent and incredibly athletic sports
games in the nineteen nineties. What were the titles of
their NFL, MLB and NHL games. NFL, MLB and NHL

(05:28):
game from Midway.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
Yes, Midway's like a rental car company. No Mide.

Speaker 1 (05:34):
Well you know the first one of the airport in
the south side of Chicago. It's my airport Southwest. Let's
go the football one I got because I played it
all the time. It's my favorite video game of all time.
Remember I NFL Blitz, very good, NFL Blitz now baseball

(05:55):
and hockey, basketball, basketball, But they didn't ask for basketball
because that's the HM. Right, that's the easiest one is
NBA jam. But the question was NFL, MLB and NHS
of Glory bla Blades of Glory. Then we do a
whole John F. Kennedy thing. It all makes sense when
you see it. MLB and NHL. These were tough. These

(06:18):
were tough. Well I don't know this one strike. Yes,
when they went on strike and didn't play the games.
That's what it was. We went on strike. There's no game.
It's just we're we're all on strike. Hmmm, all right,
I'll give you the baseball one. I'll do the NHL. One, okay,

(06:38):
the NHL was cold steel. No sold steel on ice.
Cold that's what they used to use as the slogan
for the black Hawks. Cold play. It's not fixed you,
it's not coplay. NHL was open ice, okay, open ice. MLB,
I'll say it. It had turbo power on it. It
had players that were on fire power up. No, no, no,

(07:03):
are you sure positive?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Positive?

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Because I have the answer in front of me, dumpster fire.

Speaker 3 (07:08):
And that's right, because you have it in front of you.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
MLB was the olam ooh close begins with the nests
Summer Slam. Not yes, the Summer Slamlet goes, come on
in if you will tag team four hundred eight pounds
from baseball, Yes, that's what it was. The Undertaker was
a picture. Yeah yeah, no it worked West. MLB slugfests

(07:33):
is slug fest? Did you actually go and hitting people?
And now here's the last one. Okay. What sport first
played in the fourteenth century comes from the Bosque word
basque for mary festival. What sport first played in the

(07:53):
fourteenth century comes from the Basque words for merry festival.
I had no idea about no idea that. Now that's
what you wear. This is what is the name of
the sport? Fourteenth century? The Basque word for bass words
for merry festival. It's two words. I'll give you that hit.
It's two words. Oh, by the way, lucky guess trivia,

(08:14):
play play along, dodgeball, dodge like with like spikes on it.
That would kill you. Yeah, steeple chase, that was dodgeball. Oh, good,
guess not right. The horse racing, No, no, that would
just be horse racing. The words yeah, but they had
horse racing in the fourteen hundreds. I think they probably
killed the horses at the end. If you lose, yeah,

(08:39):
two words they play it. It's played in the United States.
It's very popular in Florida. It's popular in Connecticut. I
went to see it once. It was so much fun
because there was so much echoing on it. The shuffle board,
the sport, no chove. Uh why would I I go
to watch people play shuffle morton, Come on, come on.

(09:01):
If you can lay odds on it, you you you
can watch it. I went to see this once and
it was like, basically, you can have it in it.
High lie, high lie, very good high lie is the answer,
very festival highlight you never see highlight play, oh highlights
and that that's novel stuff. This one goes with those
violent games. He was just asking him about. You have

(09:21):
like a like a like a catch glove tied to
your wrist, and you catch the palota which is the ball,
and you throw it up against the wall, and you
gotta catch it. You gotta catch it on one bounce
and throw it in one motion. It's not handball. No,
it's not handball. It's God's highlight. Who sucks at that game?
Who does Aaron judge? You guys have to catch the ball?

(09:43):
High highlight, high the highlight. Let's go J A I
like J Courtney or J. Whitney the actor, uh and
a lie a l A I highlight cricket. I went
to go see highlight once in in Rhode Island with
Kenny Maine when we went to UH when we went
to do the X games together in the nineties. And

(10:07):
the heckling is off the charts.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
Well, but you've got the thing that he used to
throw the ball, whatever the hell that's called. Yeah, it's crazy.
So like the speed of this and the potential for
absolute chaos as.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
It's pitched your way is level and it's very vial.
You bet on it like it's horse racing. You can
box the players to win, like they all take turns
playing and it's the first one to seven points. And
it again The heck and the Heckling by Kenny Maine,
like I did, Like I knew the guy. We were
hanging out having fun, like I work with him. We
go to Highlight and the stuff. He is yelling at
the player, nothing, nothing, but just like wow. He is

(10:42):
like Heckling is into art form, making an art form
there that does not surprise me. Highlight, Highlighting affinity towards
horse racing and made up not surprised me. Highlight. You
see if you ever watch Miami Vice, it's the sport
they show in the beinning with the the people playing Highlight.
The guy wears a mask and he's got the the

(11:03):
like the the sesta is tied to his wrist and
you catch it the ball and you throw it. It's
like a And then he tried to take over heinz Field. Yeah, yeah, yes, exactly.

Speaker 3 (11:13):
Sounds like a sex game.

Speaker 6 (11:14):
I'm more confused now than I was at the start.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Can you tell me this involves twister?

Speaker 4 (11:18):
I'm gonna no well, I mean it is a celebration
and everybody gets together to watch it. You have no
idea what's going to unfold after it's people find friends.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
I mean, who's to judge? It is kind of like handball,
where it's off the wall one bounce and you have
to knock it off, except instead of just hitting you
with your hand, you have to catch it in one
motion and throw. And you have a lot more real
estate to deal with, Like there's a lot more where
you have to where you have to catch it and
throw it over. It's like probably twenty or thirty yards
you have to throw the ball and oh yeah, no, dude.

(11:48):
Highlight was so much fun.

Speaker 5 (11:50):
It was so rather play lemon in the eye or
finger in the door?

Speaker 3 (11:57):
Oh, finger in it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
Oh, come open the magic. Hey, hey, you want to
know you want you want a bonus? You want the
final question? Yeah, let's got a big one for all
the Martin Final countdown.

Speaker 3 (12:09):
Who forgot the French fries tonight?

Speaker 1 (12:11):
It's outside of sports, right, but I'll give it to
you an what No, what is the southernmost state capital
in the continental United States?

Speaker 6 (12:20):
What?

Speaker 1 (12:21):
What is the southernmost state capital in the continental United States,
I said, United States?

Speaker 3 (12:28):
What is al Paso?

Speaker 1 (12:30):
L Paso is not the capital of Texas. That's a
great guess, Austin, Austin, guys, Passo is not the capital,
though it's the state capital.

Speaker 6 (12:45):
My friends.

Speaker 3 (12:46):
Today, there you go, and.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
Now you are you not just looking up highlight on
the computer and trying to see what.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
Because I know you spelled it and I was like what,
I finally got it?

Speaker 1 (12:56):
I got it? Says yeah, And he made fun of
me when I said, Pelo is the ball, like, yes,
I know, I know. It just helped me out and.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Maybe maybe it had a different You have no idea?

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Whoa, whoa? What did you say? Ty shirt? I said, Hi,
I'm ready for break? Okay, are deflated? Where's the French ries?
You want to?

Speaker 3 (13:26):
Jason?

Speaker 4 (13:27):
Sure?

Speaker 1 (13:28):
Kobodi and India? What Kobodi and India? Okay?

Speaker 3 (13:32):
What body is a sport?

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (13:34):
All right?

Speaker 1 (13:35):
Mike, it's spelled K A B A D D. I
all right, all right.

Speaker 3 (13:38):
So I'm a big fan of Mike went to Northwestern.
He knows how it's spelled.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
I'm a I'm a big fan of giscaffette, which is
if you do, if you go Christoph Sisafette is an
improv group in somewhere in Europe did this thing. They're saying,
this is what Americans think every English sport is. And
it's called giscaffette and it's insane fun like it's this
sport with these crazy roles. But but they do it

(14:03):
like it's broadcast on television. It's insanely. I watch it
at least once every couple of weeks. Fette is great.
Jessicaf Fett. Wait wait wait.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
In this game, a raider enters the opposing half of
the court to touch defenders and attempt to return within
twenty within thirty seconds without being tackled.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
Yes. Points are awarded for successful tags, while defenders earn
a point for stopping the raider. Looks so good, Exit
out about of Frisca Exit swollen Dome, the Jason's Finch
slow with my best friend Mike Carter. All right, stay again.

It's me three time pro bowler LeVar Arrington and I
couldn't be more excited to announce a podcast called Up
on Game?

Speaker 1 (17:17):
What is Up on Game?

Speaker 8 (17:18):
You asked, along with my fellow pro bowler TJ. Hutschman
Zada and Super Bowl champion. Yup, that's right, Plexico Burus.
You can only name a show with that type of
talent on it. Up on Game We're going to be
sharing our real life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen

(17:41):
and Plexico Burrs on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcast from.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
Couldn't be out this week, but he also might be
out of the company. What a great update that is,
But it doesn't.

Speaker 1 (17:57):
Look like by all reports, he is not going to
play this week and he could be out at least
a couple of weeks. Again, was fine after the game,
but then you know after the game, oh hey, wait
a minute, wait a minute. So with no party. This
goes back to we've talked about last night. The Niners
are mid. They're a mid team. They're not great anymore.
It's too much changed, they're too injured, they have too

(18:20):
many guys out of the lineup. And now, yeah, they
should win this week even with mac Jones. You know,
you should be able to beat the Saints. It should
be a w But now your your quarterback is hurt
with an injury this early in the season, it's gonna
have to be managed the rest of the way. I
have zero expectations for the Niners this year. Absolutely is there.
They're a mid team. And should they be a team

(18:42):
that hovers a round five hundred, sure right, sure like
because they could get out of two weeks with all
the stuff going on, be in two and oh but
it would be more because of the advantageous scheduling that
they have had more than anything else.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
Hey, yeah, this week the Saints, then you got the
Cardinals at home, and then you got the Jaguars at
home before you traveled Los Angeles to see the Rams
on Sunday Night Football.

Speaker 1 (19:03):
So yeah, I'm kind of expecting it to be the
same for the For the Niners. Yes, the pretty injury
is bad news, but I really it's hard to have
great expectation for the for the Niners this season, for
any part of it. They went for it right, They
had a big window open, They went to the Super Bowl,
they nearly won the NFC Championships, they changed quarterbacks, they

(19:26):
went from having Jimmy Garoppolo and going to Trey Lance
and not going and then Brock Party takes over. Look
how good he is and perty gets into the super Bowl.
It's wow. Super Bowl with two different quarterbacks and a
five year span is amazing. But that era is kind
of over now. It's kind of done, and this is
now one of those years for the Niners where they
feel like there we're still sort of holding on to

(19:48):
what we had, but after this year is gonna be
the reality of Okay, harsh reset coming well.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
But that's the thing, right is thinking you can get
through one more. And we watched in Week one, Christian
McCaffrey had thirty one touches. His status was he's not
gonna make it out five. No, but that's just it, right,
That's why you brought Brian Robinson in. Clearly dissatisfied with
the ability and aptitude and probably wishing Jordan Mason was
back there. But all of that to say that you

(20:17):
are also wishing, wanting, hoping on a bunch of older
players as well. And we watched that fall apart last
year and you thought, maybe with an extra couple of
pieces of duct tape, maybe some bondo that.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
You get through now.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
Now, maybe these injuries are short lived, right, and maybe
Purty in a couple of weeks he's fine, Okay. Great
George Kittle, he was one of the great wild cards
coming into the year as well, high usage rate, but
also a guy who's so active in the run game
that it's a punishing sixty minutes of football. So getting
him through another seventeen weeks plus playoffs was going to

(20:54):
be in Arduw's journey. Juwan Jennings, he got paid, right,
he got his bonus, but he's already on the injury report,
so keep on going down the line. You don't have
the extra gadgetary. Uh, you know, Ricky Piersoll year two,
you're expecting great things from him, but beyond that, there's
just so many questions on both sides of the ball.
Doesn't mean you can't still get out of the division
and win it, right, because the Rams have their own questions,

(21:16):
right certainly. And then we look at Arizona and we
want them. I think you and I both look at
that squad and go, they could be really good. I
don't know that they will.

Speaker 1 (21:24):
They were last year and you have to you know,
two weapons this year and their second year added to defense.
And Benson's really good. He's gonna take over as the
number one running back there at some point over the
course of the season. Like they're they're better than you think.
And but for the Rams, though, it's like whoa they
won Week one. Yeah, we're used to the Rams. Hey
they're one and four, and then suddenly here they are

(21:46):
ten and seven in the playoffs. They could go to
the super Bowl like we but they won a big game, newsfest,
but bad game. But that shows you again we talked
about how good the Rams defense. They keep going back
and forth. Two touchdowns won the game for him over
a pretty good offense with a pretty good quarterback and
so that tells you, Okay, the Rams, this may be

(22:07):
a little bit of a different situation for them. Stafford
comes in is able to play well enough, that's by
having no reps in the preseason. But the Niners, it's
just it's hard to buy the Niners, man. I mean,
I'm sorry, but they had a great run, one of
the great heritage teams in the NFL. But it's hard
to buy them this year when this clearly is the Hey,
we're raging against the dying of the light. We're ignoring

(22:30):
the fact that this window is closed for us. So
we're it's gonna keep trying to try to force it
open through our own sheer will and you're gonna find
it over the year. Yeah, all right, we're not gonna
be able to do that. And Okay, in a harder
reset in the offseason.

Speaker 4 (22:42):
Yeah, I'm curious to watch how mccaffer's used going forward.
Said before the season, I would expect him to be
lined up more as a wide out and we get
back to those one hundred catch days because they need
extra help and depth in that receiving core. And you
did bring in Robinson, but losing Purdy for multiple weeks
and as much, which is I might have liked Mac
Jones in New England, I think he got a raw deal.

(23:05):
The way Bill Belichick ran things those last couple of
years with Matt Patricia and everything else. It's still several
years removed from when he was you know, what's that
word good?

Speaker 1 (23:15):
Now the other quarterback situation comes to us courtesy of
the New York Giants, where today Malik Neighbors downplayed his
in game spat with Brian Dabele. Okay, Neighbors had a
conversation with Dable about his sideline demeanor after they got

(23:35):
caught on camera in a real heated exchange during their
loss to the Commanders. Now, both Neighbors and Dabel talked
about it after the game, and today were two competitors
trying to win, they talk to each other. Neighbors says, listen,
it got blown out of proportion. This is all the
stuff we got today. Quote the cameras were on me.
Neighbors said, I have to be more conscious of that,
whether it's stepping out of my box or talked to

(23:57):
Dable on the side, just being overall aware of where
I'm at. But here's the big part of it. Neighbors said,
the reason it's came out like this is because he
said he thought the energy wasn't right and the Giants
were lacking, and Dable said, listen, I'm trying to get
you the football right. This is all wide receivers. Whatever
they say, you know, it's always it always means get
me the football right. But he says the energy wasn't right.

(24:19):
You can sit back and play armchair quarterback and say
the right move for the Giants is to keep playing
Russell Wilson, then go to Jamis Winston, and then go
to Jackson Dart at some point after he's had some
time to get used to the NFL. And all that
is a load of crap. And the reason here, right here,
this is why Jackson Dart will be starting for the
Giants probably after this week, right, I said October first,

(24:43):
at the first four games, that timeline has been sped
up after Russell Wilson's last week. There's no energy with
this offense. You know at this point, if you're the Giants,
you're just waiting to go to him. That's why Week
one was so bad for the Giants because this wasn't Hey,
we the Commanders twenty one to twenty. You know, Russ
was good down the stretch. You know, there's he's you

(25:05):
know some times he wasn't that great. But this was
awful for Wilson, awful for the rest of the team.
They need a spark right already Week one. You need
a spark. But when you talk about the energy not
being there, you know that we're just waiting and you
can't postpone the future, right, And we talked about this.
Dable and Shane want to keep their jobs and the
best way to keep their job is to show that
we're the guys to run this team. Now that Jackson

(25:27):
dart Is and Trenches are starting quarterback, they want to
get him out there with as much gameplay as possible
to show that, hey, Jackson dart is really good. We
got it. Maybe we're not gonna it's not gonna translate
and wins this year, but if it translates in excitement
and offense, everything is fine. And the Giants we bet. Look,
their defensive line is really good. They'll be able to
control some games along the way, but their offense is

(25:48):
just awful, and you know it's not going anywhere. With
Russell Wilson, he was an afterthought, the minute Jackson Dart
started excelling over the course of the summer, he will
be ready to play. Anything else is not going to
bring the right end energy to the Giants. All of
this tells you that the way the world is going there,
Dart's gotta be the guy. Like again, can you imagine

(26:08):
the Giants saying, yeah, Russ, we're gonna sit him down
and go to Jamis Winston. Can't do that. Man can't
do that. Can't do it. And again, by the trade deadline,
I think Russell Wilson will be on a different team
because he's not gonna sit there and sit on the
bench of his last year in the NFL be him,
you know, sitting there with his holding his helmet and
being in on quarterback meetings as Jackson Dart is coming
in and out of the field. So I think he's
gonna wind up getting dealt at some point. You already

(26:29):
have teams with quarterback injuries. But the time for dartis come.
Whether he is ready or not is irrelevant, right, And
that's the big point is that, oh, maybe he's right,
It doesn't matter. This is New York, where there's many
more things at stake, including the psyche of the team,
the status of the coaches and the general managers. That's
why it doesn't matter if he is ready or not.
He is getting that job sometime in the next couple of.

Speaker 4 (26:52):
Weeks, that date in early October, where you had the
Saints on the schedule, that it might be a little
bit of a soft land. What's curious is you go
back and watch some of the Week one game with
the Giants. The opportunities were there, and the accuracy and
Russ and the moon ball and everything that had been
such a key component of his success the last couple

(27:13):
of years. Now we can argue about his overall accuracy
and acumen, but the deep ball had still been a
deployed weapon.

Speaker 1 (27:22):
Here.

Speaker 4 (27:22):
He missed neighbors several times on balls that he used
to hit in his sleep, even last year in Pittsburgh,
balls that he would put up and give him an
opportunity five target or five catches on twelve targets seventy
one yards for neighbors. I gotta you know point out
that he also did tell folks not to read into
his countenance too much because.

Speaker 1 (27:42):
He has what he called NBF.

Speaker 4 (27:46):
Natural b face as opposed to resting the face, so
he decided to go down that road. The other thing
to watch for this game, in particular is that you
have Bland who's gonna play? And now you've got Trevon
Diggs coming off of a twenty seven snap week one appearance,

(28:06):
So you can be gotten on the outside. If Russ
is that much more accurate, I mean it's it's almost
it's it's inevitable.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
This is this is the this is could be the
final start for Russell Wilson because it's not like it's
an impossible task against the Cowboys. Remember Michael Parses isn't there,
and you have a banged up say who's that?

Speaker 7 (28:26):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Just a guy I got traded to a small story
like off track betting in the Himalayas. But just so,
this should be a game where Russell Wilson plays somewhat well. Now,
all he's going to do if he plays okay this
week is push it by another week or so. But
you can tell the Giants are already so far down
that road of Jackson Dart taking over and he's a

(28:47):
first round pick. He's gonna see the field. To think
he's not is just naive and and there's no beholden,
there's no reason to beholding to Russell Wilson. This is
just gonna happen. And again to Sunday. This may be
the last start for Russell Wilson in the NFL right now,
Tell I think he's gonna get dealt by the deadline.
He's not gonna stick around. They don't need all three
quarterbacks there at that point, someone's gonna get traded because

(29:09):
someone's gonna need quarterback help. And think, Okay, Russ can
come in and be a guy that can gain, can
pick up the playbook pretty fast and come in we
can trust who knows. You never know how desperate teams are.
But as far as the Giants like this could be
the last start of Russell Wilson's career.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
Think about that.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
Trying to find some props for old Russ here on
the week when what he's got working.

Speaker 1 (29:28):
Uh, But right now, I'm just getting a bunch of
game totals. Time now to find out what's trending in
the wide world of sports with someone who's been called
the Russell Wilson of Fox Sports Radio. That's because she
is missus missus missus missus missus unlimited limit you even
gave her the mrs. At least I have a super Bowl.

(29:50):
Wows has a super Bowl?

Speaker 2 (29:52):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 6 (29:53):
Okay, because you're saying I am the at least have
a super Bowl, because let's let's be real. He is
not the Russell Will seen he once was.

Speaker 1 (30:01):
No, he wasn't right, but who really is? Several years?
Why there?

Speaker 2 (30:06):
I like that, so did Rob Parker.

Speaker 6 (30:08):
Thank you for the appearance. NFL News. Dallas Cowboys could
be without their quarterback Jerron Bland for a couple of weeks.
He suffered a right foot injury in Monday's practice. He
did not practice today Wednesday, but the injury is unrelated
to that foot issue he had last season that limited
to seven games. So positive news there. You may not

(30:28):
see Brock party for a couple of weeks. Forty nine
er said. Coach Kyle Shanahan says that he is a
long shot to play in Week two against the Saints
because of toe and shoulder injuries, and then he also
added that he could miss multiple games because of the injuries.
Free agent russia Ja Davey and Clowney visited the Cowboys today,
by the way, and the Packers gave wide receiver Christian Watson,
a one year extension will go to base both two

(30:51):
games going on. Something just happened, did Wookie bets at
a home run? The Grand Slam Mookie Beds literally happens
right now as we're doing this update. Good good, good
for you, Moogie Dodgers all over the Rockies eight zero,
bottom of the eighth inning, Cardinals and Mariners still tied
at one apiece.

Speaker 1 (31:08):
But it is the bottom of the tenth inning in Seattle.

Speaker 6 (31:11):
Mariners have the bases loaded, They're coming down to their
final out.

Speaker 2 (31:14):
We'll see what goes on here.

Speaker 6 (31:15):
Mariners are holding onto the final wildcard spot in the
American League. Texas is one game back of that because
the Rangers beat the Brewers earlier today six to three.

Speaker 2 (31:22):
They completed a three games sweep.

Speaker 6 (31:24):
Phillies outscored the Mets eleven to three, Tigers crushed the
Yankees eleven to one. Reds held on two to one
against the padre So. Cincinnati and San Francisco hanging in
there for those wild cards wild card spots in the
National League, but San Francisco did lose today to Arizona
five to three, getting down guys coming down to the
end of for a second, it was like, oh, there's

(31:45):
no race in the wild card.

Speaker 1 (31:47):
Now the Mets are giving it up literally ten days ago,
another week somebody else will be in that third wildcard. Yeah,
it's science.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
It was three months ago I said they would not
make the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (32:00):
Say that that uh now?

Speaker 4 (32:08):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (32:08):
It was what is about a month ago where Mookie
Betts said, look, I just gotta turn the page on
this season. It's not my year. It's got to do
the best I can to help my team. Now, he
had a pretty decent August, right He to eighty eight
in August and looked like maybe he's turning things around
a little bit. Not an incredible month, but you know,
to eighty eight and August, uh September, he has been phenomenal.

(32:29):
He is hitting almost three point thirty. He's got an
ops of one point one. Tonight, he's four for five
with a home run in the Grand Slam. He just
hit This is what the Dodgers need. You talk about
getting some kind of big uh spark at the end
of the season. Bets has had an absolutely c fantastic season,
but heating up a little bit in August and now

(32:49):
he has been fantastic so far in September again ops
a one point one. He has been fan. If this
happens for it now watch out here come the Dodgers
with that springboard going in to the playoff.

Speaker 4 (32:59):
With four for five tonight, He's up to three eighty
five for the month, fifteen RBI and starting to drive
the ball with regularity. He's hit safety I think what
eight of his last nine. I mean, you gotta run now.
The schedule has been kind the last week or so,
but you know what you play who's on the schedule,
and perhaps this is what they needed to get him
jump started. Plus you get this great start from Blake Snell.

(33:21):
I mean, it's everything you can want if you're.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
A Dodger fan. Today on show, Hey Bobblehead Night exit
out about a Fresco exit Swelling Dome coming up next.

Speaker 2 (33:30):
One more team.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
You're not gonna believe the team that we're gonna tell
you could be one game away from hitting the panic button. Jets.

Speaker 3 (33:39):
It's not Cleveland.

Speaker 1 (33:40):
They press that thing every five minutes to see what happens.
They were the ones they brought the easy button back
for the Jets and Jets team last week. The Jets
would have to be better.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
Just Hi get last week.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
They don't even have a panic button yet, it doesn't
they have a the season's over button.

Speaker 3 (33:55):
They didn't want to say a panic button.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
Jason has a feel knowing Aaron Rodgers got four touchdowns
for as many snaps they have with you for season
one with the Jazz Three.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

They all have French fries.

Speaker 2 (34:22):
We all ate.

Speaker 3 (34:22):
Everybody's happy. Everybody's happy.

Speaker 1 (34:24):
It's not a it's not a terrible save. No, no,
he gonna done worst had to get French run. Yeah,
this is makeup eating. It's never it's never the same.
It's makeup eating. I thought makeup eating was the best
kind of eating. No, it's not okay, Oh it's makeup
I thought it was all right, So no grudge eating. Oh.

Speaker 2 (34:43):
Part of eight seven seven.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
We had a big college football story coming up in
about fifteen minutes. But we're spending this half hour, this
power half hour here on the show about quarterback situations
in the NFL and the team that is most close
to pressing the panic button that you wouldn't think are

(35:07):
the Chiefs. Right now. You had Travis Kelcey on his
New Heights podcast today, Uh say that, Hey, my fault
for running into save You're Worthy and I blew it.
I gotta know. He was trying to run a route
that that was gonna give him more room and I
ran it badly. It's my fault. And they were.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
Supposed to look out for Santiago, he's smaller. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
Kelsey ran right through it. We're supposed to fight marines
like Santiago. Uh, all we know is Santiago is dead.
Dawson and Downey did it. Those are the facts of
the case. They are in disputed.

Speaker 1 (35:39):
So he talked a lot about how big part of
the game plan that Xavier Worthy was like and all
of a sudden, big stuff went out the window. And
I'm like, okay, I get that in theory, but you
know what injuries happened, and you're the Chiefs. So you
can't sit here and tell me the whole way. Uh oh, Suddenly,
now you couldn't win because because.

Speaker 4 (35:59):
Why you want you ride receiver got hurt well was unavailable,
Like it's one thing if he's not one hundred, but
to take him off the chessboard before you really.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Do anything is kind of a big deal. And it's
not like he's spat at anything. But also the Chiefs
are used to not having wide receivers because they're all
can't stay on the on the field a little bit.
As you know, injuries happen, Guys get knocked out of
a game, and you adjust. But I get, but I
get what what Travis Kelsey is saying. He's such a
big part of the game plan. And this is a

(36:27):
Chiefs team that we talked about already. Hey, stock up
on Patrick Mahomes this year. Stock down on the Chiefs
as a whole. This is an older team. They're not
nearly as as as younger or athletic as two other
teams in the division, never never mind teams like the
Ravens and the Bills. This is a tough, tough schedule

(36:49):
and it's a tough sledding opportunity for the Chiefs here
and now they go into this week knows ave you're
worthy trying to make it work with Hollywood Brown and
still no Rashi Rice for another five weeks. It doesn't
get any easier. But luckily they're at home this week
game of the week, they host the Eagles. All right, Now,

(37:10):
this is why panic City is here is because they're
already oh to one. And you know the facts and
the stats about what it is for teams that start
oh to two. Is it a little bit easier to
jump to make the playoffs after oh and two? Yeah,
with the extra game, it's a little bit easier. But
you still see it's not incredibly he He's not like suddenly,
oh well the door is open.

Speaker 6 (37:28):
No.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
Still it real teams really struggle to make the playoffs
when you're owing two and now trying to beat the
Super Bowl champs. That's a tough one. And here's the
thing is that you get through the first six weeks
of the season and after the Eagles this week it's
the Giants, the Ravens, the Jaguars, and the Lions. Now,
the schedule maker did the the Chiefs a huge favor

(37:49):
here by three of their four toughest games on the schedule,
not in counting the games and division. They get it home, right,
They got the Bills on the road later on this year.
But they have Baltimore and Detroit in Philadelphia all at home. Hey, hey,
they love you, Noorry, they love you, Kansas City, they
love you. But this is a Chiefs team that easily
can start out two and four. You have injuries, you
have tough situations already. You can see you're not nearly

(38:12):
lots of the Chargers. It was basically a home game
for you in Brazil with many more Chiefs fans there.
You lose, the Chargers put you away. Yeah, the Chiefs
are really close to Panics, just because they've been good
for so long. The end of that dynasty comes at
some point, and this is gonna be that year of
tough sledding. And they could be hitting, hitting the early part,
middle part of October two and four, and suddenly they're

(38:33):
they're down in the division by three games. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (38:36):
So while they got the favor as you would call it,
of those games at home, I don't know that that
bunch up at the top at the front of your
schedule not exactly what you have in mind in terms
of walking through the flower fields and having a nice time.
It's a problem. And that's without Richie Rice, like that's

(38:57):
a whole other that's a whole other thing.

Speaker 1 (38:59):
Now, I'm just picturing you run through the flat the
blind Melon, No, Rainville, that's it. That's exactly what I'm
trying to just having fun, to celebrate some more Shannon
Hoon along the way. But you got this matchup against
the Eagles offensive line. Look, Spagnola is gonna that defense
will get better.

Speaker 4 (39:17):
That was a discombobulated Week one effort, and credit to
the charges of what they would bring the bear. Now,
if that game had been in Los Angeles, are there
any fewer Chiefs fans?

Speaker 3 (39:30):
No?

Speaker 4 (39:31):
Right, it was going to be a Chiefs home game,
whether it was played in Brazil or here in Los Angeles.
Game I might have been able to go to if
it was here and down the road. But all that
to say, the Giants defense will be strong. But that's fine.
Then you got the Ravens, Jaguars and Cohen and his
squad and everything else as you laid out the early
part of the schedule.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
But you're also, like we talked about.

Speaker 4 (39:53):
With the forty nine ers, you're older and you're hoping
these guys don't break down. Travis Kelcey, even if he's
in better shape than he was a year ago because
he's not on the Era's tour doing a little bit
of work on stage and hanging around Europe. It's still
another year on a guy who's in his mid thirties.
So eventually the body starts to break down. Offensive line.

(40:15):
I don't think you're gonna see the same kind of
pressure week to week that you saw from the Chargers
where Patrick Mahomes has to be scrambling like that. But
do you have a running back that you trust in
that room? Pachecko's okay, He's not a true number one
to go get a guy, So you know, do you
have to go out into the marketplace and make a trade,

(40:35):
either for a back or a wide receiver. I think
Miami's got a couple of guys that fit the bill.
The Chiefs are way close to pressing the panic button.
Trust me, they are that close. Exit out about a
Fresco exit swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my
best friend Mike Harmon. After a story today, an idea
for college football that can take them to the next level.

(40:59):
That's next right here, Jason and Mike. This is Fox
