(01:05):
you see a potentially a pitcher gets so mad at
his catcher he throws at him. But this is what
we had last night. It is quote misguided to think
that Franbervaldez intentionally threw at his teammate.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (01:18):
Look, Seesar Salazar wanted Valdez to step off the mound.
Weird situation. As he was getting ready to pitch. Valdez
throws the pitch, it gets hit for a grand slam,
and then the next pitch Valdez crosses up. His catcher
hits him in the chest when the pitch he wasn't
ready for, potentially to tell him, hey, don't do that again.

(01:39):
I have seen people throwing at other players. I've never
seen a pitcher throw at his own player after a
home run. Right now, someone's writing this down for Major
League four. I'm putting that in Steah, that's good.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
Joining us now on the hot line for more on
this story, in all the big stories in Major League Baseball,
MLB Insider with MLB Network, Fox Sports Radio on Twitter
at John Morosi, it is the Pope. He sounds sexy,
John Palmrosi, John Paul, what's happening, man.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
I'm doing great, my friends. We have had many conversations
the three of us on your great radio program. This
might be the first.

Speaker 4 (02:14):
One that we've had.

Speaker 3 (02:14):
While I've been walking up Texas Avenue after covering an
astro's Yankees game. So I'm literally walking down the street
on my phone talking to you guys, and I think, actually,
we've got a decent connection. I'm hopeful that that will
remain the case. But oh, I was literally at the
ballpark dyke in Park, as it's known now that of

(02:35):
which you are speaking. So it's just we are in
a perfect mind synchronicity in this moment that we can
have this conversation.

Speaker 1 (02:42):
Awesome. Well listen, we'll get to the Yankees Astros coming
up in a second. But I got to ask you, like,
has this ever happened to you? Have you ever crossed
up Lauren Shahati doing an interview when she got mad
and through and through a fastball and hit you like I,
did that ever happen to you?

Speaker 3 (02:58):
No, I can't say that that has happened. There was
I will say that there was the time when when
I tried to interview, I thought I was going to
interview Aroundo Perdomo in Spanish, and then I believe this
direct quote was what's wrong with you?

Speaker 4 (03:13):
John? You could see the meeting, so that that.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Might have been a cross up you could call.

Speaker 4 (03:21):
What happened last night.

Speaker 3 (03:23):
Let's put it this way.

Speaker 4 (03:24):
It was it was either it was either one of
two things, deliberate or a a rather staggering lack of
compassion for your teammates that you had just.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Drilled in the chest with a fastball. One of those
two things is true, because I think that at the
very least, sort of turning your back on your teammate
in that moment was probably not the best look. Let's
just let's just say that did they Did they authentically
get crossed up? That is certainly possible. It is certainly

(03:59):
possible that at Valdez's reaction was one of frustration as
he got crossed up theoretically and then sort of turned
his back.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
Didn't love that.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
And this whole conversation is probably not optle for someone
who in a few weeks time.

Speaker 4 (04:13):
Will be a free agent.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
It is not not the best timing for a conversation
like this now. As happened for the Astros tonight, they
want a ball game. And if they keep winning games,
and if the next time val does pitches, he goes
out and throws eight shut out anything, then that has
a way of speaking well of him the performance itself.
But last night was neither good in the in the

(04:36):
performance area or in the uh in the Teammate of
the Year competition, the Giants abb is the award called
the Willie mack Award honor of Willie McCovey. If the
Astros had the best Teammate award, you can call it whichever,
you can call it, the Vigio Award, the Chris Burke Award,
whatever you want to call it, they would probably not

(04:57):
go in that. In that evidence to from Revels, Yeah.

Speaker 5 (05:01):
That's a difficult part, right, because you're trying to bring
along a young catcher too, right, right, not a guy
with a lot of experience. So you know, you made
a bad pitch, Like aj Brazinski went off on this saying, look,
I'd be going right back Adam from the catcher. But
he's a young guy trying to make his bones and
stick with the squad. There's only so much he can
do and say.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Right exactly, And it was not. It was not a
picture of a team in perfect harmony. The whole thing
wasn't who's the exact responsibility. That is, again I would
put most of it on the picture in that circumstance,
but it is you need more out of him in
that circumstance, especially given the vast difference in experience between

(05:44):
the two. And this is a team that has had
its ups and downs this season. They've been a little inconsistent,
but they actually still have the makings of a really
good October team. I saw it tonight with the way
that Jordan played for it. For him at Alexander had
a solid star, So there's enough components here of a
team that could actually do something in the month of October.

(06:04):
At Luis Garcia just came back, so there's there are
some positive trend lines that were a bit overshadowed by
something that was very avoidable last night and something that
again will will linger as long as Valdez struggles.

Speaker 4 (06:18):
If he goes out and has.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
Three great starts and then is it dominant eighth in October,
then he can write his own script at that point
in time and enter free agency with a bit more
momentum than he has at this moment.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
John Paul Morosi, our guest, Jason Smith, Mike Harmon, Live
from the Fox sports radio studios. All right now, as
you said, you just came from doing the Astros Yankees game.
The Yankees lose tonight eight to seven, and you know,
the last week when you joined us, I feel like
you really hit it right on the head with the
Yankees right which has been if you catch him on
the right day, everything is wonderful. You catch him on

(06:52):
the wrong day, it's absolute disasters. So here we are
a week later. They had been playing well, they lose tonight.
Where's your temperature right now? With the Yankees going forward?

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Much like a lot of the teams in the American League,
Which is why I think it's so much fun to
look at these playoffs right now. Basically every team that's
going right now has flawsed. We're going to see some
games with tonight that end eight to seven, or like
the Mariners that we heard in the update, thirteen to
nine last night was thirteen to ten tonight. These are

(07:24):
football scores, and I think that you've got a lot
of teams that are imperfect. The Yankees, I still think
that they are a formidable team to deal with. I
think their rotation is right now as good as it's
been since Cark Schmidt went on the il they've been
able to bring back Lebe's heel. I think Pam Schlitzler
has been phenomenal for them, and you looked at I

(07:47):
think tonight Warren was very good as well. So the
rotation is not the problem. The problem is what happened
late in the game. And it wasn't just one. And
this is the issue for the Yankies. It seems as
though when innings start to unravel on them, they can't
stop it with this bullpen. And if they've been able
to escape that Jams is giving up two runs instead

(08:08):
of four, we might be talking about the Yankee win
right now. Of course, Bellinger homers in the in the
top of the ninth and they get Who knows how
that the series or that the game plays out. If
it's a two run games that before run games, everything changes.
But the fact remains that the Yankees need to find
a way to be consistent enough with their bullpens such

(08:29):
that the home run hitting prowess of the rest of
their club will will allow itself that to win plenty
of games where home runs are often the predominant way
of scoring runs against these elite bullpen it was that
way for the Yankees last year when they reached the
World Series, and they have to hope that it's that
way again this year with the likes of Stanton having

(08:49):
a great year, Bellinger, Grisham. In some ways, they aren't
even more complete lineup now than they were a year ago,
less dependent on the one or two players. I think
that they're actually a little deeper now because of the
way that him and Bellager have played, and they still
have Gold. So a lot to like with the Yankees,
but the in consistency there as well, and their their
rivals in Boston got some tough news tonight with the

(09:09):
Roman Anthony news about him going on the IL with
the oblique injury, so further underscoring the point than a
lot of teams right now have some pretty serious flaws
and the team that wins is probably going to be
the least flawed team that plays the best for the
longest amount of time in October.

Speaker 5 (09:27):
Yeah, all that analysis for the Yankees, should I just
super impose your voice and have it replayed to where
you say and the Dodgers, because at the same point,
three nothing loss to the Pirates today and a lot
of anks here in Los Angeles JP.

Speaker 3 (09:41):
Yeah, and and listen there there should be uh there,
there's still a very good team, but they're not a
dominant team, and obviously Otani. They're going to have to
really depend a lot on Otani in October to get
them deep in the games and win, which is obviously
the consistency that he's on the mound has been a

(10:01):
little bit elusive in terms of pacifically being able to
go deep into ball games. They're gonna need Clayton Church
how to be not just good, but probably great if
they're gonna win the World Series, and that's asking a
lot of a guy in what is very possibly his
final season. It's just there's so much to look at
with this Dodger team. Again. The bullpen injuries for me

(10:22):
feel like they finally have caught up with them a
little bit. That the offensive inconsistency and tasker, and it
certainly has been at the center of a lot of
conversation here in recent weeks.

Speaker 6 (10:32):
Two.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
It's still a team that I like, a lot of
the Padres now are right behind them, and they just
lost Jason Adam for the long term, so the Padres
have not quite taken off to the extent that I
thought they might. And you look around the National League
and the Mets honestly, and I know Jason is being

(10:54):
very diplomatic because my family is still desponded over the
Tigers losing the three game series of the Mets. But
but the Mets can slinger right now. They had I
thought excellent at bats Monday Tuesday. Obviously that the Tigers
won today, but in general, the way that Soto is
playing right now, Jason, I think the Mets are getting
hot at the exact right time of year, at a

(11:17):
time where a lot of teams are struggling hit that
second year and gett into October. So keep the faith,
Jason Smith. Your your team, Your team might be better
than than you think it is.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
Well, yeah, because we got Noan McLean and Jonah Tong. Finally,
I mean.

Speaker 3 (11:32):
It's been you know, Jason, Jason from from LA has
been calling every week on Stursday and the Pope saying
one of these guys coming up. And I think it
was a master stroke by Stearns to to just wait
and now basically, I mean again, we began this segment
hearing about how this this show's intellectual property is is

(11:56):
is borrowed from from more and more shows around the media,
the media sphere, and I think that serns me in.
The Pope winally said, you know what, Jase's idea is great,
call up the kids and watch the Mets win a
lot of games, okay.

Speaker 1 (12:10):
And two things to be to be transparent. One okay,
Brandon sprode his next make sure you tell Sternsy.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
That and work on throat.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
I think the loss the Mets lost today was my
fault because feeling a little chesty, I I texted, I
messaged John Paul yesterday after the game saying, Hey, I
know we like to have a lot of fun on
the show, but please, I know this is a tough
time for your dad right now. Please apologize to him
for me for the absolute ass kicking the Mets have
been giving the Tigers the last couple of days.

Speaker 3 (12:36):
Yes, yes, I I might not have I might not
have copied and pasted the text directly to my dad,
but but I I tried to convey your your sympathies,
and and that is greatly appreciated. Your your your friendship
and your your commiseration is noted by by the Morossi fans,

(13:00):
and we are we are grateful for it.

Speaker 1 (13:02):
Oh boy, he's on Twitter at John Morosi, that is
at John Morosi. As far as we know, he has
never crossed anybody up doing a hit. But John Paul,
before we let you go, it is time, it is
that time, oh again, for you to become our Lions

(13:22):
official picker of the week. How do you see opening
week before the Lions going.

Speaker 3 (13:29):
I've been reflecting on this for a long time, okay,
and uh, I'm gonna throw you a bit of a
curve ball night Week one. The final score will be
green Bay twenty four Detroit seventeen.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
Whoa, whoa. Okay, the Lions are not scoring twenty seven
points in a game, which he had every week last year,
and they're losing this game.

Speaker 3 (13:51):
Wow, they're losing. So so just make sure, okay, make
sure that that Dan Byer is aware that I've that
I've made this for day in favor of the Wisconsin ice.
And then I've got and I've got green Bay winning
by a final score of twenty four to seventeen.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
A guy taking the under and he has them losing
out right. John Paul's gonna be like you know, in
the in the the old like in the seventies when
when a college football coach lost a game and that
night like people would put for sale signs in his yard,
like like that's gonna happen now John Paul's house. Oh
you picked against us the for sale side for least.

Speaker 4 (14:29):
I mean, it.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
Makes it a little more authentic. He can't always, you
can't always just blindly pick the team. And I see
the Packers is having a little little better of a
little better of a I just think that they're at home,
the whole Lambeau thing, and that they've had a good
training camp, good preseason. I think the Packers have a
little momentum here.

Speaker 5 (14:49):
Let's see if he's got the guts to double down.
Michigan getting four and a half against Oklahoma.

Speaker 4 (14:55):
Now now again, I'm gonna have to go.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
I hope they still let me fly back tomorrow, but
I'm gonna go. I'm gonna go Oklahoma. I'm gonna go Oklahoma.
Thirty one Michigan twenty one, thirty one, twenty one suitors.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
All right, wow, that's a plague.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
I still love my home state. I'm just telling you
what I think the reality is right now.

Speaker 1 (15:17):
Proud Michigan, Proud Michigan. Or John Paul Morosi voting no
confidence in Bryce Underwood. All right, great the legend. I'm
glad you guys.

Speaker 3 (15:26):
I'm glad you guys didn't ask about what I think
about Michigan State Boston College because I think DC probably
wins that game too.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
He's got the hat trip. He's got everybody in Michigan
losing every game possible. That's how it's gonna hurt you. Hey,
John Paul, Thanks, Avonchay. Enjoy king toong when he pitches
this weekend. You'll love it.

Speaker 3 (15:44):
He's the best surprise of Marko Ontario.

Speaker 5 (15:46):
Baby, it's gonna be be good brother, Thank you.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
There goes John Paul Brook. Wow, looking against the entire
state of Michigan. That's crazy. He can't stay. What happens
He's got to go. I don't know. Maybe he's moving.
He goes and watches the Yankees as good question. Good question.
I want to tell you moving to Wisconsin. Didn't want
to do it, but kind of had to following those picks.
So now prior to Wisconsin. There we go go.

Gonna slow things down a little bit here with the
dedication to Taylor and Travis the Happy Happy Wedding. We're
one of the biggest rock bands of the eighties and
now they're banging each other. We had big songs like
hot Blooded. We have this ballad it feels like the

(19:15):
first time, and now Taylor and Travis, we want to
play this song for you. Jason Smith Mike Harmon live
from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Why are you playing
a song from Foreigner from the eighties? And now everybody

(19:37):
who's fifty is going, I remember what I broke up
with my girlfriend and sawya was so sad. There's a
reason why, because Foreigner wants to take advantage of what
could be an opening at the Travis Kelcey Taylor Swift

(19:57):
Wedding whenever it is Mike, you have details, you.

Speaker 5 (20:00):
Want to get that audition in Foreigner Foreigner music in
the Twitter verse, they posted the following under their official
account just a little while ago, saying to dear Taylor
Swift and Travis Kelce, we know what love is.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
We spent forty years figuring it.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
Out and now you guys have to please accept this
as our formal offer to be your wedding band.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Best witches. Foreigner did they do it for? Did they
write the number four and then for inner Fantastic four?
You know this is a band that could do a
lot of hits over the course of the wedding. Waiting
for a girl like you, Yeah, you got, you got,
jukebox hero, cold as ice, hot blooded, urgent like Foreigner.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
Was double vision from when guys are a little hammered
on the dance.

Speaker 1 (20:55):
Floor, Dude, I mean, hold game, get the forget that
you know, Travis Kelsey tails, what's can say? Dude? If
we want Beyonce would play our consent? Okay, just so
you know, But I mean Foreigner is a really solid choice, man, Like,
if they're gonna come do it and you don't have
to pay him, I mean, I assume maybe you don't
have to pay.

Speaker 5 (21:12):
I don't know, you don't have to volunteer, but they're
gonna do it for free. But they've sold over eighty
million albums worldwide, not counting all of those albums when
they're part of the compilation.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
This yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah yeah, Like they did
What's the was it? This one that was on Miami
Vice and where they did one of these songs in
my like when when Don Johnson was having sex with
whoever he was, like, they played this. I think it
might have been Sheena Easton. Oh you might have been.
You were playing that. God, wow, what a sexy song.

Speaker 5 (21:41):
This is like, oh wow, I mean from the The
Rights of Passage it was I Want to Know What
Love Is?

Speaker 9 (21:49):
Yeah, the yeah she east Oh my goodness, yeah Dan
oh you kind of kept it going, tys um.

Speaker 1 (22:00):
Sorry, do you know any of these songs we're talking about? No,
you know, I wasn't born, dude. This was in the eighties.
You were born in the wait what were you born?
I was ninety nineteen ninety really yeah, okay, you're thirty five?
Yeah really yeah. You know he's been with.

Speaker 5 (22:15):
Us quite a while, you know, I know, I'm still surprised.
I mean, his hair is still perfect. I was having
a conversation I dropped the hair was perfect, well, just
straight out of the Werewolves of London, there's no question.
But we were having a long discussion about products. When
I dropped my kid's car off for an oil change.
The guys suddenly started talking about soap. Because of a partnership.
He made a SpongeBob reference. He got into this whole thing.

(22:37):
But we started talking about hair loss wherever I go.
You know, I got a guy that's got a lion's mane,
that works with us OO.

Speaker 1 (22:46):
Lives in a pineapple under the sea, lives in the studies.
He knows that one. I was gonna say, lives in
the studio pressing some zlex ty shirt. I don't like
that one. Oh, you really don't know any of these songs. No, really,
you listened to rock stations. You heard these songs. Hey,
cue hot Bloody you like that one? You never made
a mixtape for a girlfriend and put I want to

(23:07):
know what love is on there or waiting for you? Yeah,
you made it or a mixed CD mixtape or a mixtape,
a mixed show me. Now you've activated Patrick fantastic. Patrick
over here is like, yeah, I'm just started singing songs.
I'm curious. How did you make a mixtape?

Speaker 2 (23:25):
What do you mean?

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Howd to make a mixtape? How did you put it
on the tape? Either you had to tape the tape recorder,
you use your record, use the record. What's the tape recorder?
Not a tape recorder? Sorry, ate like a boombox, or
you would have the tape decks in it. You would
tape the tape. You would make a mixtape, or you'd
record from your record onto a tape because it would
be a cassette that was built into it.

Speaker 3 (23:48):
You know.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Yeah, it was a big thing. I've seen one of
those things in a museum, or you create your playlist
and a CD. I was always big of buying the
record and making the tape and just listen take because
I feel like the record if it gets scratched against ruined,
I always had, you know, so I'll I'd save the
record and I would listen to it on a on
a cassette tape. I was smart, you know, a smart Yeah,

(24:10):
well we did. Our thing was using lime wire and
frost wire on a CD. So we're going to jale.
Yeah that was illegal. Man, Well I didn't say it was.
I think Metallica killed the guy from Napster because of that.
Is that true? I'm sure they.

Speaker 5 (24:26):
Want Yeah, the lawsuits and fiery speeches.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
Okay, okay, okay, before we go on, all right, for
a dollar for a dollar because Moncey is the same
age as you am, I saying, does Moncey know any
of these? Can she name a song? Two songs we played?
Just played it? If she can name two songs by Foreigner?
Can she name too song? I'll double it? No way,
no way, all right, all right, get ready, get Manti ready,
get Monsie ready a ready Monty come on? Mom was

(24:53):
there for a second? Hey, okay, so before we get
to watch trying to keep us on, can you name
two songs by the band Foreigner? No? No, not off.

Speaker 10 (25:08):
The top of my head like I may I may be,
but not not off the top of my head.

Speaker 1 (25:12):
Okay, Stairway to Heaven no, yeah, okay, yeah, yes, okay, okay,
give me shelter, start me up. Yeah, behind the Blue Eyes,
maybe won't get fooled again? No, all by Foreigner? Yeah yeah, no,
I definitely welcome to the jungle also by foreigner. So

(25:35):
maybe I do know more songs than I realized. I
just said it foreigner, that's the bat got it? I
want to know it? Yeah, that's it. That's it, all right?
So I just won money from your T shirt. No

(25:57):
thought he was saying I wouldn't know, because you said,
do you think monts you can name a song? I said,
I'll double that.

Speaker 3 (26:01):
No.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Yeah, you said she was gonna name. That's not doubling anything.
That's it. Doubling means like, oh yeah, she could probably
name four's two times zero zero all right? So wait,
hold on zero? Did they really do? Clearly, both of

(26:24):
your knowledge of foreigner is as cold as ice. Those

the wide world of sports. Now that Moncey really understands
that we need to be a little more urgent in

(27:30):
getting to what's trending.

Speaker 11 (27:33):
Foreigner, I'm gonna go back and list.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
Does this feel like the first time you're doing an update? Yes? Okay, yes, Jess,

Speaker 11 (27:53):

Speaker 4 (27:58):
Why not?

Speaker 11 (27:58):
Because the Giants are.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Don't care.

Speaker 1 (28:02):
Yesterday? What was yesterday? I got what?

Speaker 3 (28:09):
You have?

Speaker 1 (28:09):
Double vision? What's wrong with you?

Speaker 10 (28:11):
Do what I want? Giants?

Speaker 1 (28:13):
Beat the Rocky.

Speaker 10 (28:13):
You're just playing head games Hey San Francisco No SAE.

Speaker 11 (28:18):
San Francisco has won ten out of their last eleven games.

Speaker 10 (28:21):
They've jumped Cincinnati.

Speaker 11 (28:23):
They're now four games back in the Mets for the
final wildcard spot in the National League. As the Reds
lost to the Blue Jays earlier today thirteen to nine Toronto.
With a comeback win there, the Orioles held on seven
to five against the Patres to complete the sweep. In
San Diego, Pirates shut out the Dodgers three zero a
couple of home runs from Brian Reynolds and Andrew McCutcheon
for Pittsburgh Brewer's best team in.

Speaker 10 (28:42):
Baseball eighty six and fifty four. After today's victory over
the Phillies, six to three was the final score.

Speaker 1 (28:47):
Astros held on against the Yankees eight to seven.

Speaker 10 (28:50):
New York almost had a comeback, but it wasn't enough.
Guardians crushed the Red Sox eight to one, Braves defeated
the Cubs five to one, and the Angels edged the
Royals four to three. When it comes to the NFL,
Chargers running back Naji Harris, he is expected to start
in Friday season opener against the Chiefs Green Bay Packers
edge rusher and Michael Parsons limited and practice today because

(29:11):
of his back injury, and the forty nine ers and
wide receiver Juwan Jenny and Savycian agreement on a deal
that's gonna add three million in playtime incentives, so now
this season he can earn up to ten point five
million and sixteen point six million viewers watched Ohio States
win over Texas on Fox on Saturday, the third most
watched college football game in the network's history.

Speaker 11 (29:31):
The game was also the most watched Week one college
football game.

Speaker 1 (29:35):
On any network in history. Back to you guys, thank
you very much. Monsei Foreigner and I can't take any more.
Is our agent provocateurs? Very nice? Thank you. She's looking
up Foreigner right now.

Speaker 5 (29:48):
She can download the entire Blood Hot Blood check it
and I got of one hundred and three.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
You're just playing head games now. I already did the
head game. Damn you were going to do that one yesterday.
That's what I was that you're saying the same whoa whoa, whoa,
whoa whoa. We may have crossed a lot. Hold on
whoa the name of a foreigner song. That's the name

(30:17):
of a foreigner song. Just that is the name of
a forehider song. Everybody know what love is?

Speaker 3 (30:23):
That is?

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Okay, we we had we've had those already. It's got
to be something we haven't said. Or we're done. We
already said. I feel like dad, right now, we're done.
We're all done. We're all done. Now, we're all done.
Now it feels like we're a long long way. Monsey
really just scared everybody. Girl on the moon, real far
away from home. Hey, say you will? Okay? Sure? Purple rain?

Speaker 5 (30:44):
Also foreigner, that doesn't sound that sounds proper, right, I
want it that way.

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Also foreign That's definitely not it. No, trust me, look
him up, you look them? What about Gasolina? Uh, that's gasoline.
That's gasoline. Ford's so good? Genre bending Foreigner. What about

(31:18):
what I like about you? That is? That's the romantics?
What I like about you? Well, I mean it is.

Speaker 5 (31:23):
It does fit the theme of what we're trying to
do here, Yeah, which is if you missed the beginning
of this, Foreigner wants to be the wedding bag for
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey say how we pull that
all back together?

Speaker 1 (31:35):
Well done? Hey, Luke, can you get back on stage?
Do some more songs. Okay, Luke, can you do the
Electric Slide?

Speaker 3 (31:39):
What?

Speaker 1 (31:40):
Yeah? Just play the Electric Slide? And then y m
c A. We're gonna we're gonna need uh you need
to do celebration. But we but we were what we
we got like three of our number one songs up. Yeah, listen,
why am c A next? Okay, just do that. Every
everybody wants that. Sing Daddy's Little Girl. I want to
know if the hy MC. I want you to why

(32:05):
me MC?

Speaker 5 (32:09):
Now you're drunk, but I'm not the why I'm lifting
some weights.

Speaker 1 (32:15):
I got a bench press of one hundred and three?
Is that good? Is that Travis? Is that good? Made
it one hundred and eight?

Speaker 3 (32:21):
Is that good?

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Travis? Is that good?

Speaker 3 (32:23):
Is that good?

Speaker 1 (32:23):
Okay? Great? Wonderful? There we go. I like Barracuda Yeah.
Also all yes, Also one of the greatest rifts of
all time. And Blinding Lights. Also Foreigner, Yeah you didn't
know that? Yeah, well, because it's got that eighties field
got to be, you know, outdone by Blinding by about
Don't Stop Believing? Yes, also Foreigner, Yes, they did so

(32:45):
many hits, man, so many hits. I'm telling you be
star co play rock around the clock. Ye fix you
still coplay?

Speaker 5 (32:53):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (32:53):
Jason Smith Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studio.
So guess who's getting a statue at some point statue
in New England. Patriots head It's okay, Jason, Patriots head
coach Bill Belichick one day is getting a statue. Patriots
on a Bobcraft saying that I will fix you because

(33:15):
I saw that debut at North Carolina was so bad.
I will fix you by getting that statue up for
you sometime in the future. This was Bob Craft today
on that topic. He's singing, Man, I should have known

(33:40):
better to think that I was going to get Bob
Craft there. I should have known better. I want, I need,
I want to know what Bob Craft said.

Speaker 2 (33:49):
That a great twenty year era ended. It was always
my intention to commission a statue for both Tommy and
Bill when their respect two careers were over playing and coaching,
and when Bill's coaching career ends, we look forward to
sitting down with him and having a statue made to

(34:13):
be right next to Tommy.

Speaker 1 (34:15):
Okay, now let me just get me the best part
about this, right, Like, you know, when when people start
getting close to retirement, we plan parties and think, hey,
we celebrate their lives and everything else. You think it's
any coincidence. After getting his ass kicked Monday night at
North Carolina, here's Bob Kraft saying, Hey, when Bill's done,
don't worry, we'll have that statue. He's at the end
of his career, We'll don't Worl'll have that statue. Like thinking, hey,

(34:37):
it could be like in the next couple of weeks,
so let's make sure we get that out there that
we're going to have the statue, because people are going
to start asking, hey, the end of Bill's career is here.
You said we're going to have a statue. Huh. I
got to get ahead of this because if they lose
to Charlotte Eat or Richmond, we might wind up having
the end of that career be the middle of October.

Speaker 5 (34:53):
It's kind of like Jack O'Connell singing Ian Sinners. People
are dancing around. That's kind of w Bob Kraft doing
in this one. I look it Tommy. Tommy also a
song and a whole concept album by four by four.
Yeah you didn't know that, Yeah, no question. I just
like that with Tommy and Tommy.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
We talked. Yeah, this comes up. He's starting them an
olive branch.

Speaker 5 (35:15):
This is let's let's put some attention over here, so
you forget about that debacle for a moment.

Speaker 1 (35:19):
We'll get Tommy's statue too. Coming up next, more from
the NFL. The biggest controversy today. I'll tell you right now,
it's gonna be fine. That's next right here, Jason and Mike,
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 6 (35:30):
It's gonna be May be sure to catch live editions
of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at
ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
This is from Foreigner. It's their big hit from eighty one.
It's Foreigner, not Steve Perry injured. The fireflies are out.
Follow the buzzards. Fox Sports Radio, Jason Smith and Mike Harmon.
Oh get ready, everybody shouts out South to Trod. My

(36:05):
wife told me every concert they did in the eighties,
they would get to that part. He would stop because
the whole South to Drod.

Speaker 5 (36:15):
So kerrieoke tomorrow night after the season opener, and we
get everybody together, and everybody's got double vision from an
extra two.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
So uh Angel Reese has responded after the interviews she
gave to Chicago Tribune, which caused so much controversy tonight.
We talked about this early in the show. Where to
get to it next hour to retort, Yeah, and I
can't wait to hear it because she lit the world

(36:47):
on fire, lit her teammates on you was her comments
about the year. So we'll get to that coming up
next hour. But let me just say this, right, the
big controversy today has been running through the streets eyes
bleeding like it's Lalyrna or whatever else. It was like,
you know, maybe you got stuck in the eye with

(37:07):
mace or something because of the fact that Red Zone
is going to have commercials. Now. No, this is Scott
Hanson doing an interview with Pat McAfee today. The first
person to say, hey, it's not my decision. I just
work here. He literally say it's not my decision, Like, dude,
come on, man, it's not my decision. Apparently someone asks you, look,

(37:28):
the people are gonna get mad. They're gonna be mad.
You let people get mad. So there's going to be
but real life commercials embrace the hate, man, not like
commercials that are gonna run on the side of the
screen while the action is going on, like they're gonna
cut away to commercials now before people and everybody's going crazy.
And I understand this.

Speaker 5 (37:45):
He also needs to realize not everybody's gonna love you,
so at some point.

Speaker 1 (37:49):
You just just wear it. Don't read your ats, don't
read your ats. Okay, that's all you gotta do. So
it's gonna be fine because anytime there's money to be made,
people are gonna find a way to squeeze money out of.
This is not ESPN's decision. The merger with ESPN is
not gonna be in not for another year. So this
was in the works already. Yes, they found a way.

(38:10):
We're gonna have commercials on. It's not gonna be network TV. Hey,
welcome to the show. Here's three minutes of commercials. Here's
eight minutes of content and then four minutes of commercials. No,
if it's going to be and I'm sure this is
how it's gonna be, three or four times an hour,
there's gonna be commercials totaling thirty seconds to a minute. Okay, right, okay,

(38:30):
he said, you're not gonna miss any scores, and you're not.
And you may get a couple on tape. Look for
someone who's done Fantasy Zone like I did for three years. Yeah,
there's stuff. You don't get to see it all live
because stuff happens at the same time. But you racket back,
you get to see every touchdown from every game. Right,
That's what it was, That's what we did, and that's
what you've seen on Red Zone. That's gonna continue. You're
going to see that. It's okay for limited commercial interruption

(38:55):
when it comes to if you're talking about in every hour,
three or four minutes total of commercials, that's okay. You're
not gonna It's not the end of the world. You're
not gonna You're not gonna suddenly say I'm not getting
a good product anymore. People are saying them, cancel my subscription.
How are you gonna see the rest of the games? Really?
Because you're that upset over this, Like people are just
really over the top of this. Now and again three

(39:17):
four times an hour for a minute, it'll be fine again.
This is what I believe it's gonna be. I can't
believe anybody they would be stupid enough to do more
than that. But maybe the later games in the four
o'clock window when there's only two or three games, maybe
you'll get ninety seconds of commercials or more than that
because there's only a couple of games. But the early games,
when it's all the actually got ten eleven. Get it's
gonna be fun. It's not the end of the NFL,

(39:38):
the end of the year, the end of the decline
and fall of Western civilization part seven.

Speaker 5 (39:44):
Are bigger things to worry about, right, it's just the fracturing.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
People got all mad about that.

Speaker 5 (39:49):
Either buy the product or you don't, right, subscribe or
don't if you don't want to watch Sunday Night Football,
you don't want Peacock, Okay, fine, don't do it. You
don't want any of the other portions, Fine you get
you get a bonus, right, the YouTube game is free,
so yeah, there you go. But all of that consternation
that we've seen with this, it's it's just a level

(40:10):
of absurdity, Like, I get it. You want to be mad,
and you've gotten all this stuff for free, and now
it's parsed out in different places. In this particular case,
you had to pay the extra if a minute of
commercials and seeing it on tape delay, you know, while
they're at commercial. You'll probably see it on Twitter or
whatever your second screen experiences anyway, So what have you

(40:31):
really lost.

Speaker 1 (40:35):
It's not like it was twenty years ago where or
where you're you're following the games.

Speaker 5 (40:40):
That's all you're getting, and you had to rev up
to George Michael Sportsman watch them.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
You're watching red Zone and you are following along on
your phone with your tablet, and for thirty seconds you
can look and see, Okay, here's where the football is all.
This team's in the red zone. You're getting it. You're
not You're not emotional over this because it's not like
they're interrupting your local team watching for fantasy or because
you want to just see all the action. You're not
gonna be as up in arms as you think you

(41:04):
are if thirty forty five seconds go by and you
miss a touchdown that you will see when they come
back from.

Speaker 5 (41:10):
Commercially, if they do that in the middle of a
drive when you're on an ISO game, you're watching the Jets,
they're in the red zone, was like, hey, did fields
and no, I'm wait, why am I seeing an ad
to this movie that should have been out three years ago?

Speaker 1 (41:23):
Exit Out about of Fresca exit Swallendo. We have more
