Speaker 3 (01:00):
I had ripped the knob off.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
It looks like the Tea Wolves in the process of
ripping the knob off. The season for the Golden State Warriors.
A Julius Randall breakaway, circus layup. Yes, things I never
thought i'd say part of a big.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
Night for Randall. He has a huge game right now with.
Speaker 1 (01:20):
Twenty seven points twelve out of seventeen from the floor
t gouls with a one to twelve ninety eight lead
over the Warriors with just under three and a half
minutes left to go. We'll have more in this game
coming up in a few minutes as it looks like
the Warriors season minus Steph Curry is going to be
coming to an end.
Speaker 4 (01:36):
Big fight though, I mean they at least kept it
interesting and then the defensive prowse the length of the
Tea Wolves coming into play right we had an over
and back called. You don't actually see that with much regularity.
Speaker 3 (01:51):
So you see that they were paying attention.
Speaker 4 (01:54):
How many times have you seen it where it should
have been called like ah, whatever, it's in the flow
or the guy that walks in from out of bounds
putting the ball in play when when they're not being pressed.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
Who cares?
Speaker 4 (02:05):
It doesn't affect anything here? No, they went to the
subruder tape. It was like an off side call from
a soccer match that you watch EPL. It's like, let's
go to the var As you can see, his arm
is still.
Speaker 3 (02:20):
Right there on the right there.
Speaker 4 (02:22):
It's all yeah there, Pozemski giving them a show though
ten of eighteen from the field, four to six, from three,
he's up to twenty seven shit down the night.
Speaker 3 (02:29):
So we got that show I want to show. I
want to show. That's what I call a bleeping show.
Watch the Celtic highlights. You'll get a shot. You know,
you got to be one of two sides.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Man, Either you're with me because you want the Celtics
to lose, being a Laker fan, or you're against me
like you've been.
Speaker 3 (02:44):
For the last decade. You got to pick a lane.
Pick a lane. Well, the ladder's coming sooner than later.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Okay, because I know as soon as the Knicks beat
the Celtics and move on, you're gonna be anti Nicks again.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
You're only on You're only with me until we Yeah,
the women knew that the whole time. Yeah, no, I know.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
I'm just saying, stay stay with this until the series
is over.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Then you can get back to being anti Knicks. And
you didn't.
Speaker 4 (03:09):
You promised him it would be a quick and efficient Jackson.
Speaker 3 (03:13):
We're just giving him hope.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
That's what I did say. Netta is at Nixon five
and now Nixon six. No I did say that, but
but every listen A seven, Am I nervous?
Speaker 3 (03:23):
Am I am? I am?
Speaker 1 (03:24):
I out of control? No, I told you last night
how many times we do this? Tomorrow the Knicks are
going to lose because I expect two things. The Knicks
to show up kind of halfway where hey, if we
can stay in the game for the most part and
the and the Celtics quit, Yeah, and we have a
chance in the fourth quarter, maybe we can steal it
and win and end the series. But if that doesn't happen, okay.
(03:46):
And Plus I knew how the game was going to
be officiated. Jalen Brunson has fouled out a one game
all year. He fouls out tonight. Karl Anthony townsendfaul trouble
most of the games. They stopped giving him fouls what
he got to four because we can't make it look
that bad.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
So, yeah, I knew this is how the game is. Yeah,
I look, look at what he's doing here.
Speaker 4 (04:04):
He's doing a lot of official blaming.
Speaker 1 (04:06):
I knew, Looksten, but I knew, and I'm not doing
this you're also saying the NBA, no, no, no, I'm doing
You have that conversations ago. You've watched an NBA game
with me. You know how games are officiated. As you
get deeper into the playoffs. When they send Scott Foster
to officiate a Chris Paul game, you know what's gonna happen,
Like the NBA knows.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
And what they're trying to do.
Speaker 1 (04:27):
Now, it's sad that this is what we've come to,
that we've kind of just accepted the fact that this
is how the NBA playoff games are going to get officiated. Right,
this is this is how they're going to happen. Right
when when you have a three to one lead and
the Celtics are playing at home and we're gonna extend
it so people can bet on the next couple of games.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
Okay, great, but this is how it is.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Yes, we've hit that part of acceptance, but I know
this is exactly how things were going to get officiated,
and the Knicks we're going to kind of halfway show up.
Speaker 3 (04:54):
When you put that together, it equals a loss.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Right, It's like putting chocolate peanut butter together equaling me
eating a re peanut butter Cup, you put the Knicks
halfway showing up with the officials calling the game the
way they knew they were going to. It was going
to be a Celtics route, and that's exactly what we got.
It's not Friday night. I will see you Friday at
MSG with Shallow May and whatever Jenners are with him
and Ben Stiller and Marishka Hargete Friday night.
Speaker 3 (05:18):
I'll see you Friday.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Yeah, Shallo May made the trip the game.
Speaker 3 (05:22):
Nice. If I'm the Knicks, I ban them Friday. Wow.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Spike Lee trying to get his way in with shallow Man,
trying to sneak him in them. Nobody told me that
would be awesome. But I'm telling you, dude, I'm fine.
I'm absolutely, I am. I am.
Speaker 3 (05:43):
I really listen.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I thought they would like if this was them losing
Game five at home and they had to go on
the road for Game six, where I know they probably
put it away for Game seven. Yeah, okay, because I
really just coming down to one game.
Speaker 3 (05:53):
We're going home, We're going to MSG. Okay, it's fine,
it's fine.
Speaker 1 (05:56):
The Celtics won one game at home in this series.
We are the champs. They're one of the top three
best teams in the regular season. Yeah, they have the
right to win the game at home. That's why I'm
not tripping. Look at me, I'm like, I'm seventeen. I tripping, man,
That's why I'm not tripping. They they win one game
at home in this series. Okay, that's a.
Speaker 4 (06:15):
New bit that you're birthing right now, he's trip Smith.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
I ain't tripping. I ain't tripping. Forget about the gone fishing.
I does it? Rob, Rob Parker? Do that? Do they do?
Speaker 1 (06:25):
I aint tripping? He says something like that. Right, no paying,
I ain't paying for that. That's that's I ain't paying
for that. So we'll have more NBA coming up in
a few minutes. Again, teams putting the finishing touches on
this win over Golden State. But with NFL's schedule release
day today, there's certain big things you can take away
from what we see over the course of when games
(06:48):
are put out there. Right. Yes, everybody's excited, you know,
seeing their own team and we're here's where we play here,
And I'm looking at our schedule and thinking what can
I've gone from, what the record can be, what like
what I think the Jets can be to where I
think the Jets can be at the end of September. Right,
That's what I look at, like, Okay, instead of going, well,
you have a win this, we'll lose it out, We're
going to be twelve and five.
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Like I look and go, where where can we be
at the end of September? Oh, you're doing the value is.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Yeah, the one greatest contribution that he gave other than
that one miracle season where every ball bounced their way
and Devin Aster had an impenetrable force field, like you know,
like a cloak of invisibility or whatever you want to
do around him. But love Smith, you say, all right,
we play in quarters. Let's see how we do those
first four. Now you had that's pesky seventeenth game. It
(07:33):
kind of screws things up, but you get the point.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Yeah, But I said, well, out of September, how can
we do the the first two games at home?
Speaker 3 (07:39):
Then we're on the.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Road that one of those games were winnable. Want to
get out of September where the new coach knew everything?
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Two and two? Can we get out too? And two?
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Like, I think that's a legitimate way to look at
your schedule because then things change, right, things change? You see,
the teams were really good, are not that good? And
but you know, I think the first month, looking at
you can say, okay, that's the new full season, right
the first month.
Speaker 4 (07:59):
Okay, so how did you come out? I mean, because
that's really the foreigner. You're also taking the old Belichick model.
Speaker 3 (08:05):
Jets of four one hundred and sixty points scored four
point zero.
Speaker 1 (08:08):
Oh okay, No, I'm no, I come out of two
and two for the Jets.
Speaker 3 (08:12):
Got Steelers Bills, Yeah, probably loose to the Bills, all right.
Speaker 4 (08:16):
Bills are a home game, like two home games to start,
then on the road at Tampa.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
And then on the road at Miami.
Speaker 1 (08:23):
Yeah, and one of the games between Tampa and Miami, Like,
I feel pretty good that we can get out of
their two and two. Now, if we're zero and two
going to our first road game, then I realize, okay,
now we're playing for twenty twenty six. But I feel
like that because the Jets are still really talented. They
still have a lot of talent on this team. It's
not like they're gonna suddenly go out and blow the
doors off of teams. But I can see them winning
(08:44):
a lot of twenty to sixteen games, seventeen thirteen kind
of games. And they can do that against the Steelers
because who knows what their quarterback is going to be
and if it's Aaron Rodgers, boy, they know them. And
one of the two away games against Tampa or Miami. Yeah,
Miami's not great anymore, man, Miami's basically are we gonna
fire our coach? What are we gonna do? Yeah, I'm
feeling pretty good about that game there. Now, I'm thinking
(09:05):
three and one now, But but I, like I said,
I'm a two intending to get the Cowboys after that. Yeah,
I mean I'm not gonna okay, so three and two
all right? So but I'm thinking two and two. That's
what I'm thinking of. But if you want to think bigger, right,
you want to think bigger? Because I was thinking about this, right.
What did we talk about yesterday when the when the
the schedule came out for the International Games?
Speaker 3 (09:24):
Right?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Seven International Games? Now we're playing this year and the
Vikings are playing two games back to back in the
United Kingdom.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Eventually, what did I tell you?
Speaker 1 (09:32):
They're gonna sell the international package to a streamer for
billions of dollars right that this is what the NFL
is doing.
Speaker 3 (09:39):
We're not. They're not.
Speaker 1 (09:40):
They're not doing this just to Hey, we're playing more games. Yes,
they're increasing the brand, we're playing more games overseas. But hey,
you think sky sports are a big, you know, big worldwide.
Uh uh, maybe maybe Amazon does it. Maybe Netflix pays
for it. Hey wouldn't pay a couple of billion dollars
for eight international games when you're marketing them ever everywhere? Absolutely,
(10:01):
that's happening, right, So that's that's gonna be. We're gonna
get to eight eight games this year, so soon when
you figure out where they want to keep playing. So
that's gonna wind up being a streaming package at some point. Also,
it's gonna be a streaming package. What we saw today
four Monday night football double headers, right four?
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Like we street they.
Speaker 1 (10:20):
Charted, tried it out a couple of years ago. We
had a Monday night football double header week one. Then
we had a couple more of the season one on. Hey, okay,
not bad. Now we're up to four. Okay, Eventually we're
gonna get to a point where they're gonna sell a
package of six to eight Monday night football double headers,
the second games right every because nothing's gonna you know, look,
(10:41):
ESPN's got the Hey we got you all the Monday
night games. That's great, But eventually they're also gonna sell
the late doubleheader games, and that's gonna be an additional thing, like, hey,
wait a minute, we're giving you the Monday night games.
We're not just gonna give you all these second games
for free, all right, You're not just getting these games
because hey yeah, no, no, they're gonna eventually sell the
late Monday night football double headers. Now, could they do
(11:02):
the double header for the whole year, probably not, but
could they get to six to eight games and suddenly
that becomes a package one hundred percent? And Amazon or
Netflix or Max and oh, by the way, how about
me saying is an HBO Max? Oh no, Jason's been
Max for four years? Today they announced they're going back
to HBO Max. We just did that story two days ago.
(11:23):
Or I said, oh that's right, it's Max. Now I
call it HBO Max. Yeah, I finally get to you,
finally correct me on it. And today they say, hey,
we're going back to HBO Max.
Speaker 2 (11:31):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:31):
Everywhere on social media, but like the statement was the
best and it was what we had talked about the
entire time. It's like, how do you not have HBO
in there and given the power of that brand name
for all these years. But and that was their ultimate statements, like,
well we bring it back because of this, Like okay.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Then, I mean, look, but someone's gonna buy that. The
NFL is gonna find a way to put packages together.
So it's not just well, you're bidding on on the
Sunday package and then there's the Monday package and the
Sunday Night package, Thursday Night package. There's gonna be now
the mini packages that are being sold in the next
two I guarantee international and the and the and the
(12:07):
double header nights, whether it's the it's the the late
game that you're.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
Gonna sell all the way across the board or.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
You know, some kind of package that way with the
Monday Night where it's gonna be more billions of dollars
for the NFL because people are gonna buy them. You know,
people are gonna want the streamers are gonna want them. Uh,
networks are gonna want them. Hey, we can bid on
this now, we're making enough money. We want the second
half of the Monday Night game. Maybe it's not as
much as to be expected because it's the later game,
it's a West Coast game. But absolutely those two things
(12:36):
are gonna happen, and the NFL is gonna say, hey,
here we are making uh you know, six to ten
more billion dollars on these games.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
That's awesome, Look what we did. Yeah, what it is?
Speaker 4 (12:45):
The curiosity, right is I'd love to know those individual
markets overseas, right, conglomerates versus individual you know, programming.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Powerhouses in each of those nations.
Speaker 4 (12:56):
When we're talking about Brazil, we're talking about you know,
go back to Ireland and everything else.
Speaker 3 (13:01):
But for Fox, for for.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
ESPN, for Amazon, for everybody getting involved, is it does
it just lift all those boats by I don't know,
an extra half a billion dollars a year by adding
more and more of these windows here, you're all gonna
pay equally, you get some extra rights to it, and
we're really gonna keep with the best in brand or
does someone really need to go over the top. It's
(13:27):
it's kind of an interesting time for the NFL as
that is the next wave, just like the NBA has been,
you know, preaching that forever. It's all international. The NFL
is waving at you gonna gump take your lunch there too.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Exit out bout a Fresca, Exit swollen Dome. Jason Smith
Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Coming
up next, we are breaking down what is now officially
the end of the Golden State Warriors season. The t
Wolves and Julius Randall are into the Western Conference Finals.
Speaker 3 (13:58):
They beat the Warriors one twenty one to one. Ten.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
We did extra cockfights, so knbr ready for a interview?
Am I jumping up and down on the season and
the corpse of the Golden State Warriors?
Speaker 3 (14:14):
Maybe not? Wait? What that's next? Right here? Jason and
Mike Fox Sports Radio. It's overge.
Speaker 2 (14:21):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (14:32):
Oh five second Shaboozy Dance Party, Fox Sports Radio. The
Jason Smith Show is My best Friend.
Speaker 3 (14:39):
Mike Harmon.
Speaker 1 (14:40):
The night in the NBA is over mercifully for the Knicks,
and the season has ended for the Golden State Warriors again.
In the Minnesota Timberwolves controlled from the jump looked like
the Warriors are gonna sneak back a little bit into
this game. Early in the fourth quarter they had cut
it to nine, but a and Edwards three followed by
(15:02):
a steal and a dunk, and all of a sudden,
the lead is back at fourteen and the Warriors never
threatened again.
Speaker 3 (15:08):
T Wolves win it won, twenty one to one. Ten.
Speaker 1 (15:11):
They're into the Western Conference Finals. The Warriors season ends,
and uh, look, I gotta say what I said at
the beginning of the series after Game one, it turned
out to be truth. It was a great winning game
one for Golden State. They lost Steph halfway through and
they still found a way to win that game. And
after that game, what did I say?
Speaker 2 (15:33):
Now?
Speaker 1 (15:33):
The t Wolves are going to adjust. This Warriors team
is not built to win without Steph Curry. Every game
that Steph Curry misses is going to be a war
is going to be a Timberwolves win. And that's exactly
what happened. I said every game by double digits.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
I was close.
Speaker 1 (15:46):
They won by seven, by eight, but double digits twice,
but really not a lot of difficulty in any of
those last four games. The t Wolves move on beating
the Warriors by eleven. They're in the Western Conference Finals.
Speaker 4 (15:58):
Yeah, difficult to run, trying to find someone to step
into that leadership role. You got a big game out
of Pozemski, a lot of drives to the hoop as
the game wore on, he hit from three early, finished
with twenty eight on the night. You got some minutes
from Kaminga trying to balance against Rudy Gobert, but ultimately
not enough to slow down what the Timberwolves.
Speaker 3 (16:21):
Were able to do.
Speaker 4 (16:21):
Spread the ball around, look at the depth and the
opportunists on the defensive end of things. So you take
care of business and dispatch of the Warriors. Don't leave
too much air for curiosity sake, since Draymond Green's points
spread mouthing was a big deal. The spread from this
(16:42):
game anywhere from minus nine and a half to minus eleven.
That walk in layup had a lot of people upset
at the end. Your final But Jimmy Butler again four
of eleven, most of his work coming from the free
throw line. He hit nine of eleven there, but not
(17:04):
the difference maker you were hoping showing. Perhaps you know,
playoff Jimmy uh is still a Robin.
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Well here's the thing. Here's the thing, and here's where isaig.
When you think I'm gonna.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Zag right, oh, the Warriors lost Jase.
Speaker 1 (17:17):
You've been saying nothing but bad things about the Warriors
and all this stuff and Steph last few years, here's
where iSIG When you think I'm gonna zag or zag
when you think I'm gonna zig either one.
Speaker 3 (17:28):
You remember way back.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
In February, right way back in February, when the when
the Warriors made this trade for Jimmy Butler, what did
they do right away? They signed him for two more years. Okay, wow, Okay,
that's a little interesting. But this showed you that their
plan is not really one hundred percent for this year.
Speaker 3 (17:48):
Right, this is okay, We we know.
Speaker 1 (17:50):
That we have to move on from the from the
from the Steph Clay and Draymond. Clay is gone, Draymond
is nearing the end. He's about attitude and leadership and
and players accountable. Now that's kind of who Draymond is.
But they know they need more firepower and they have
always worked best when they've had three stars, whether it
was Steph Clay and Draymond. Then Draymond kind of became
(18:12):
more of a support player Steph Clay and Kevin Durant, okay,
and then then it was back when they then Kevin
Durant left, but they know they need more. And Jimmy Butler,
we said it in February. He is step one of
a two step plan that's gonna get them back to
the top of the Western Conference. Right, Steve Kurr is
too good a head coach. Steph Curry still has too
(18:32):
many good years left. And they found a couple of
guys this year. Right.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
Pazeenski is all of a sudden is a huge.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Find a guy that can that can play, that can start,
that can score thirty a game. Right, Buddy Healed, all
of a sudden, he they asked him to a little
bit too much.
Speaker 3 (18:46):
Hey, when he's.
Speaker 1 (18:46):
Coming off the bench and hitting threes, all right, Buddy
Healed is great, but now he's got to jump in
the starting lineup. He has the two big games back
to back in Game seven, in game one of this series,
but Buddy Heald runs out of gas because Buddy Healed
is thirty one and he's never gonna be the twenty
five point a game guy you thought he was gonna be.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
When he came in the league. But is he still
a really good scorer off the bench.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
Yes, So now the Warriors have put in a couple
of really nice pieces where they think, all right going forward,
these are guys who can count where you couldn't count
anybody else.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
All the young players they brought in.
Speaker 1 (19:17):
It's taken them forever to get good, and sometimes they
don't get good and they have to move on from them.
Right now, Kaminga has shown you in spurts in this postseason.
Maybe is not totally lost. Maybe Jonathan Kaminga is someone
who it just took him a long time to become
a part of the rotation. But okay, the Warriors have
some really nice pieces, but they need that other star.
(19:39):
They need that third person to go out and get
who would love to come to Golden State to play
with Steph, to play with Jimmy Butler, because I can
go win at this point, right And there's gonna be
huge names out there this offseason. This offseason is not
gonna be so much about free agency and it's gonna
be about the big names available in trade.
Speaker 3 (19:58):
Right.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Joel Embiid will be out there. Kevin Durant, even though
he's not going back to Golden State. But there will
be big names out there that Giannis is out there, right,
Giannis wants to go somewhere. He's already told his team, Hey,
let's look into some other destinations.
Speaker 3 (20:11):
Right.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
The Warriors will get somebody big because they're too much
of a destination still with Steph Curry for the next
few years, showing I'm still playing at a high level.
Draymond still has another couple of years, still has enough
left in the tank to be Draymond Green enough for
the next season two or three.
Speaker 3 (20:29):
They're gonna get somebody.
Speaker 1 (20:30):
I know it, and I don't know what it's gonna be,
but they playing his positionous as they do. It could
be Embiid, it could be a guard. It's gonna be something.
And whoever they go out and get, that's going to
be the big return to glory for them because they
will be able to simply roll the team out like
they did in the past, and they're gonna put up
a lot of points. So you're not gonna have to
rely on Jimmy Butler to score twenty some out of
(20:53):
game because he's not that guy anymore. But relying on
Jimmy Butler every other game, Hey, that's pretty good. Steph
can still score thirty and he wants to. But someone
younger coming in or someone who can compliment them. And
I keep going to mb because, Wow, how amazing would
MBB because he'd be motivated for at least a year
to play with Steph Curry.
Speaker 3 (21:11):
So the Warriors, this was part of a two.
Speaker 1 (21:13):
Step plan that they've had going in. Okay, Jimmy Butler
is our first guy. Now let's go out and get
our second guy. And I'm sure it's gonna be someone
that they figure out. It's not gonna be well, we
can give money to any of these players like they're
gonna find their one player. They're gonna they're gonna zoom
in and say this is our player. And it depends
on what they want to do money wise, of what
it's gonna be to give up in a trade.
Speaker 3 (21:32):
But they will get.
Speaker 1 (21:33):
That final missing piece and suddenly the Warriors will be
back at the top of the Western Conference regular season
next year and beyond, and they will extend the prime
of Steph Curry. I didn't think they could do it.
And I'll be the first guy. I told you, Steph's
gotta go someplace elsewhere. What I say, Steph's gotta leave.
Steph's gotta go. It's never gonna work in Golden State.
How are you gonna get somebody? And they find a
way to swing that trade for Jimmy Butler. Okay, now
(21:56):
they did that, bringing that third player, in bringing that
star player that that can take up some of the
responsibilities of the aging Steff and Jimmy Butler.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
That's gonna do it. Man. And you thought we were
done talking about the Warriors, and we're not.
Speaker 4 (22:09):
Well, it's all just gonna be the curiosity of what
you can swing in the trademarket. If you look at
estimated cap space, they are far and away in cap hell.
With the roster as currently constructed, you got a bunch
of guys making money. As much as you love the
young guys and the wishing, wanting, hoping that they're gonna
develop into something bigger.
Speaker 3 (22:28):
You got a little bit of.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
Bench contribution from Moses Moody today, big game from Kaminga.
He finishes with twenty six on three of nine shooting
from three point range eleven of twenty three overall. Gave
you some big minutes as you tried to match up.
But like we talked, a lot about the Lakers. You
need the big man, right, you need consistency. Whether they
still think they can draw that out of Kaminga, I
(22:51):
don't know, but you're looking at the rest of the
roster and trying to figure out where fits are again,
much like the Lakers are. All right, what's the trade
ship that you have at your disposal, which is why
you get the thought pieces about Austin Reeves and such.
For the Warriors, when we look at Jimmy Butler, we
look at Steph still got two years left on his deal,
Draymond still putting up ten six and six. That's a
(23:15):
stat line that is tail as old as time. Right,
you get the occasional explosion, but that's kind of what
you're penciling in for him. Hard nos defense and trying
to be a motivator and coach on the court. Little
buddy's got to be more consistent if he's sticking around.
Otherwise he's a guy with a big contract. That becomes
a can you find someone and sell them on buddy?
(23:37):
Heel healed as one of your guys, right, So for
the Warriors, yeah, not dead, but certainly we'll see what
Steph's injury. Truly was because now we'll get the official,
real analysis that it's done, as opposed to wishing, wanting, hoping,
Because as soon as they said he wasn't showing up
for a week, you and I looked at each other.
(23:59):
I looked at you, guy, he's done. He ain't coming back.
As soon as they're saying reevaluating in a week one.
It's yes, you get to push the storyline off, but
that's intimating to me. Even in a game of Liars
Poker that we play with the injury reports from coaches
and GMS and the players themselves, you could see the
(24:21):
look on Steph's face like, yeah, it's going down and
there's not a damn thing I'm gonna be able to
do about it one way or another. So hopefully quick
healthy returns for him for the start of next season,
but goes back to you know, hey, a full off
season with no international play and.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
All of that.
Speaker 4 (24:38):
A lot of the stars of your league are are
the elder statesman. And for the Warriors, it all begins
and ends with Wardell good old number thirties. So how
they build around in Pozemski, you know, I get to
claim him Smith get well, you know why I mean,
I'm a Northwestern guy first, but I did get they
and I paid for my NBA over at Santa Claire.
(25:00):
I am a Bronco and you know, as we've always joked,
no matter where, I'm getting rid of this weight through
the PhD weight loss process. Still, you know, the troublesome
area is my Polish ass. So I claim the ski.
Speaker 1 (25:18):
But just think about something like we want to think. Okay,
so what are the names out there that you can
go trade for? Right?
Speaker 3 (25:22):
We talked about MB. You keep wanting MB well because a.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Guy I say that because Embiid is gonna come with Basically, hey,
as long as we can figure out the money, have them, right,
Like the Sixers know they need a fresh start, and
Beid needs a fresh start. Right, It's not gonna be
where suddenly the Sixer are gonna say, oh no, you
got to give us all. Just take care of the
money for us. Now, someone like Zion who could be
out there and suddenly in that culture in Golden State,
(25:49):
all of a sudden, maybe he can stay healthy, they
figure things out. Maybe even a guy like I'll even
go with a guy like like marketing who you know,
you know, the money you can make the money to
trade for him. The guy is really skilled. He can
fit right into what they like to do with. Katie
will hang up again and say, yeah, that's great. Yeah,
just call call me right back. Yeah, I'll hang up.
Speaker 4 (26:10):
Maybe don't suffering through the year he just did. Yeah,
maybe maybe that wasn't so bad.
Speaker 1 (26:16):
They would call K D and and and it would
be it would be Jeff Ulbrick's kid who would answer
the phone and say, yeah, I'll be out there. You
can just put it out there. I'll agree to any contract.
Put it out there. It's all good. But like those
are guys they can go get, you know, because because
there's all kinds of teams that want to move on
from players that sign guys a big contracts and would say, hey,
we're not contending, we're moving forward. Look, the Nets have
(26:38):
a couple of players they might want to move on
from because the Nets want to try to get, you know,
clear things out to get a star player, because that's
how they're going to compete with the Knicks. There's gonna
be some players that are out there and it's going
to be a trade because it's got to make the
money works. Because because they they don't have the money
to go out and decide in free agency. But they
made it work for Jimmy Butler. They can make it
work again, right because clearly they can do it, and
(27:00):
teams players will be motivated, especially if you're talking about
oh Embiid. We're gonna send them three thousand miles away, sure,
Zion all the way to Golden State.
Speaker 3 (27:07):
Sure, we'll send Mark.
Speaker 1 (27:08):
Yeah, fine, those they will get somebody and and it's whoever,
it's whoever. The Warriors are gonna look and say, okay,
this is this is the best plug and play guy
that we can bring in. Right, Jimmy Butler is a
pretty good plug and play guy because you saw them
win all of a sudden when he when he joined
the team. And that's the big that's the biggest mark
of hey did we did we trade for the right guy?
(27:29):
Because you can sit here and say, well, you need
some time we have to worry about anytime. He showed
me the guy needs time to get in. After a
certain amount of time, I'm saying, okay, this this wasn't
thought out, Well, this doesn't work well, right, But Luca
came in right away and the and the Lakers wound
up winning. So you know how good a move that was. Right,
Jimmy Butler came in right away and the Warriors started
winning more than they did.
Speaker 3 (27:48):
So you know how good that move was.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
Right, you can say they will find their plug and
play fit and he's gonna come in and it's gonna
be look out here they come. STEP's injury is not
that big a deal. Likely he could have played in
Game six. The soft tissue injury has not been hurt
throughout his career. So you think I'm gonna jump up
and down in the Warriors, But I'm telling you, Warriors
and the Mavericks the two teams at the top of
(28:10):
the Western Conference next year. So it's already crowded, but
make room for them, especially with Cooper Flag coming in
whatever changes they make, Like, these are two teams I'm
really high on for next year.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
We'll start looking at wins total soon enough, as we
gnd closer to things. But you mentioned the Nets a
guy and he's now in the mid twenties in terms
of millions of dollars at Claxton, a guy that has
been rumored to be in a lot of potential trade packages.
So that might be one of those NETS players to
(28:41):
put a name on one of them. For those that
well did watch a lot of nets basketball this year.
You know what really like to see you It would
be fun is if they traded for Trey Young just
to watch him dribble the ball around the entire shot
clock and have Steph run all over the court to
try to get open and at the end when he
gets the ball with five seconds left. Instead, Trey Young's
(29:02):
putting up a shot and Steff was like, dude, I
am excelled.
Speaker 1 (29:05):
I'm running through picks and screens. I take the shots, man.
I mean, I'm a nice guy, but I take.
Speaker 3 (29:10):
The shots here.
Speaker 1 (29:11):
Trey was like, yeah, no, I like to dribble around
and just hold the ball for twenty seconds then put
up a shot.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
That's what I like to do. Draymond just ran a
hard screen on his own.
Speaker 1 (29:19):
Man, Traymond, what happened? I forgot he was on our team.
I thought he was on the other team. I didn't
know that's the way he was playing.
Speaker 4 (29:28):
Ticked me off, and I remember playing against it and
having to chase him, and I forgot he changed uniforms.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports From someone who's been called the Draymond
Green of Fox Sports Radio because she has a very
successful podcast.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
It's Manzy Belangos.
Speaker 5 (29:47):
Does he have a successful podcast?
Speaker 3 (29:49):
Yeah, I'm pretty sure he does. Yeah, people listen to Yeah.
Speaker 5 (29:53):
I thought he was just talking to himself most of
the time.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
You hear about it all the time, you hit all
the time.
Speaker 5 (29:57):
I hear about it.
Speaker 6 (29:58):
But is that just good pr Are people actually paying.
Speaker 5 (30:01):
Attention and tuning in or is he just talking to himself?
Speaker 1 (30:04):
Look, I paid more attention to the Dodgers podcast you
do with Bowen Burth.
Speaker 5 (30:08):
Thank you as you should. As you should.
Speaker 6 (30:11):
Speaking of the Dodgers, Max Munsey just added some runs
with a three run shot. So now the Dodgers are
on top of the A's nine to three. It's the
bottom of the eighth inning in La. Let's go to
the other game still going on, and it's on the
ice guys, the Oilers and the Golden Knights. They just
started overtime. This is an elimination game for Las Vegas.
(30:34):
Zero zero is the score and they just got going again.
In OT the Panthers did defeat the maple Leave six
to one, so Florida now leads that series.
Speaker 5 (30:43):
Three to two in the NBA.
Speaker 6 (30:45):
The Timberwolves are headed back to the Western Conference Finals
after defeating the Warriors one twenty one to one to
a Julius Randola the way with twenty nine points and
eight rebounds. Anthony Edwards dropped twenty two points, seven rebounds,
and twelve.
Speaker 5 (30:57):
Assists in the win.
Speaker 6 (30:58):
Edwards has now reached one one thousand postseason points, joining
Kevin Garnett as the only Timberwolves to score one thousand
or more or more postseason points Enfranchise history, and for
the Warriors, it was Brandon Pajemski who was the leading
scorer with twenty eight points. The Celtics kept their season
alive with a one twenty seven to one h two
win over the Knicks. Boston outscored the Knicks sixty to
(31:20):
forty three in the second half, they were died at halftime.
Derek White was seven seven of thirteen from three led
with thirty four points. Jalen Brown had twenty six points,
eight rebounds and twelve assists. There was a scary moment
where Josh Hart took an elbow to the face from
Boston's Luke Cornett, split open, causing blood to go everywhere,
but he stayed in the game. Latest report is that
he had to get stitching on his eyebrow. I'm not
(31:41):
surprised because of how much blood came up.
Speaker 5 (31:43):
Game six will be on Friday.
Speaker 6 (31:46):
Back to Baseball, since all of the games have wrapped
up except for the Dodgers right now. As mentioned, the
Padres did beat the Angels five ons Ander Bogarts with
the three run shot. The Astros edged the Royals four
to three. The Rangers outscored the Rockies eight to three,
Marlins had a three to one win over the Cubs,
and the Pirates shut out the Mets for zero, while
the Cardinals outscored the Phillies fourteen to seven. They had
(32:08):
a double header and the Phillies won game one to one.
Speaker 5 (32:11):
Yankees edge of the Mariners three to.
Speaker 6 (32:13):
Two, and Aaron Judge hit his fifteenth homer of the season.
The NFL schedule is officially out. Some of the big
things that came out. Chiefs will have the most primetime
games this season with seven. Cleveland, Tennessee and New Orleans
will not have any primetime games, or at least that's
not on the schedule right now. Cowboys will make history
as the first team ever to play four Thursday.
Speaker 5 (32:34):
Games in a single season.
Speaker 6 (32:35):
Week one at Philadelphia, Week thirteen versus Kansas City, Week
fourteen at Detroit, and Week seventeen at Washington.
Speaker 1 (32:42):
Back to you guys, thanks a bunch mon Sis, Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon, love from the Fox Sports Radio studios. All
the Oilers just missed a two on one chance could
have ended the series with.
Speaker 3 (32:54):
The Golden Knights. Woo.
Speaker 1 (32:56):
This is fantastic up and down zero zero action over
time in the Stanley Cup playoffs. But coming up next,
the Timberwolves are in the Western Conference Finals. It is
time to have an appreciation moment for an NBA player.
Speaker 3 (33:11):
I never thought I'd have an.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Appreciation mom before, but that's next right here, Jason and Mike.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Fox Bartender, Can I get an on?
Speaker 2 (33:22):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
Ask me how old I feel right now? Hard old?
Speaker 2 (33:38):
How old I feel?
Speaker 1 (33:41):
The Edmonton Oilers are headed to the final to.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
The Western Conference Finals.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
Rather yeah, they score in overtime just seconds after they
missed a two on one chance. Casperry Capinet scores in
overtime to give the Oilers to winning again, telling you
the Oilers and the Hurricanes are on a collision course
for the Stanley Cup Final again like they were fifteen
years ago. But kes Berry Cappenen scores in overtime. Here's
(34:09):
how old I am. His dad, Sammy Kappenen. Sam was
one of my favorite Whalers players Hurricane players of all time.
He scored like twenty five goals a year late nineties,
early two thousands. And Chuck Cayton, who was the announcer
for the Whalers and the Hurricanes, he had the best call.
Every time cappanan would score, he would pause like Chuck
(34:30):
Cayton was one of those guys who could say, like
a thousand words in eight seconds, you go scores right,
He would do it. But when Cappenan would score, he
would do this. He would say, oh, it is cappaining
and you knew Sammy Kappenan scored a goal.
Speaker 3 (34:45):
This is in the two thousands. His dad is one
of my favorite.
Speaker 1 (34:48):
This is not like when I was a kid, when
I was like twelve years old, like kappen was one
of my favorite players in the early two thousands. His
kid just scores the goal to send them to the
Western Conference Finals for the second straight year.
Speaker 4 (34:59):
Pretty crazy. I had a couple of big rushes. You
saw one or two chances the other way for the Knights,
and then this play goalie is sprawled out. They literally
hits it off his skate to knock it into the goal,
and after review it stands and now you get the
traditional handshake to close out the series.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
Oh man, here's how it sounded in overtime. The Golden
Knights go home, the Oilers go on.
Speaker 3 (35:27):
Yeah, and that's what it sounded like. Frouzbert's so anti Oilers.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
I really thought we had him, but I remember, oh yeah,
the Oilers have eliminated the Kings the last eleven playoffs.
Speaker 3 (35:40):
So yeah, he's how long? And I forgot I thought
for yeah.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
No, no, no, no, I forgot. I absolutely forgot. Yeah no, no, no, no,
I'm sorry. That's my fault. I forgot about that. I forgot.
I forgot how much you hate the Oilers because they
send the Kings home every single year.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
That's my fault. That's my fault, only four years in
a row. I got.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Yeah, I know, maybe next year is the year. It's okay,
maybe next year's the year. Hey, it could be worse.
You could be the the maple Leae After losing tonight
fourteen to one to the you know, to the Panthers, I.
Speaker 4 (36:11):
Turned that game off after about six minutes.
Speaker 1 (36:13):
Yes, one of my good friends is a maple Leae fan.
I go, how do you feel? He goes, No, I
feel terrible. We're gonna lose this series. We're like, oh, okay, great,
that's good. Wait, wait to feel good me telling man,
hurricanes and oilers, collision course, it's happening. Uh Now, I
have to have an appreciation moment here for someone I
never thought it'd have an appreciation moment. Let's ago someone
(36:33):
who I said many times, I'll drive him out of
town and I'll drive and TJ.
Speaker 3 (36:39):
I drove him out of town to get towns.
Speaker 1 (36:42):
Julius Randall had an amazing series for the Minnesota Timberwolves,
and here they are in the Western Conference Final. Steve
Kerr even said postgame tonight quote, we couldn't stop Julius Randall,
And maybe that's a little bit of a guys. We
couldn't stop Julius Randall. But it also could be him
giving credit. Let's just say he's giving credit because worry
about positivity. Right now, Randall was a really good player
(37:05):
with the Knicks, right, they put a banner up for
him in twenty twenty, or at least they should have,
and then he became two ball dominant and he was
not quite good enough to be a one.
Speaker 3 (37:14):
Right.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
That's the whole thing about Julius Randall is that, yeah,
he had that great year in twenty twenty, but he
wasn't quite good enough to be a one. Was he
a good enough one a with Brunson, Yeah, but it
just didn't fit as well. And he was always a
really good player. He was always someone that they seemed
to have pretty good leadership skills about him. A couple
of times he got upset with the organization, but overall, look,
(37:35):
Julius Randeld did a lot of good for the Knicks.
Speaker 3 (37:38):
It just what they wanted him.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
To do, what they paid him to do, wasn't quite
the superstar that a guy getting paid that much money
was gonna do. But here he is now in Minnesota
where clearly he gets another chance to start. And look,
he had always been a really good player on a
bad team, right. That was Julius Randalls saying the team's bad.
Julius Randall's good. But here he is now not always
the number two option, but finding himself. He looks so
(38:01):
comfortable in this offense. Look Ann Edwards is the guy
and maybe it's a change of scenery for him because
he was the guy. Jalen Brunson comes in and becomes
the guy. So it really is a bad fit with
him in New York. But going to Minnesota, when you understand, okay,
it's an Edwards team, I find my way in. Yeah,
there's times where Devincenzo hits big shots off the bench
(38:23):
and go Bear plays really well, but he's he has
really found a home in that niche of being that
really solid twenty seven and seven guy that absolutely is
someone you need to be one of your top three
players if you're gonna move on. He is fit in
really well in Minnesota and here they are in the
Western Conference Finals. I'm happy for him. I was happy
he left New York. I'm happy with Karl Anthony Towns.
(38:45):
I would do the trade again, but this is positivity.
I am happy for Julius Randall. I appreciate what he's
done to what he continues to do for the Timberwolves.
Speaker 4 (38:53):
Pure purify yourself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka, right.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
I mean, it is a guy that except that wasn't
like Minnetaka. I remember that.
Speaker 4 (39:02):
No, but so much on his shoulders with the Lakers
and then with the Knicks, and he goes to Minnesota
and just while there are expectations for the squad, clearly
coming off of last year, that for him, he doesn't
have to carry the load. Right, everybody had already bestowed
the mantle of dex Jordan on Anthony Edwards. So julis
(39:23):
random go out and play basketball today, even in when
the game was still in question, He's smiling, having a blast.
It's like there's a guy enjoying the team that he's
playing on. They're moving the ball and he gets to
just go and work. I mean, his series average twenty
five plus seven, seven boards, seven assists, it's a hell
(39:44):
of a series.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
He's comfortably fit in.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
And now here go the t Wolves into the Western
Conference Finals.
Speaker 3 (39:52):
That's all right, Nick will be there in a couple
of days. Oh good, oh good.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
We got more for the night that was in the
NBA and the big things to take a away from
the NFL's schedule Lease Day next Fox
