(00:55):
Mike and I love putting this content out for you
every single night. Well, here we are to night in
which well baseball playoffs, where.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Maybe the Mariners aren't going to.
Speaker 1 (01:06):
The World Series that easy. The Blue Jays show up
early and often. If you turned off the Mariners game
after Julio Rodriguez's home run, thinking, oh, they got this
in the back. Come on, you missed a lot. The
Blue Jays hammer Mariners. No matter who the Mariners put
in there, it didn't matter. Chris Bosio was in, didn't matter.
Maybe Tim Belcher was in there, didn't matter, didn't matter.
(01:28):
Blue Jays beat the Mariners thirteen to four. Still a
lot of works do for the Blue Jays. Got to
win the next.
Speaker 3 (01:33):
One by one, needed to go deeper, called well.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
But the blue Jays win at thirteen to four. Again,
still it's it's okay, we now have a series. But
it's all about the next game. Because you get down
three to one, that's likely gonna be it. But again,
do what they had to do tonight, hit the ball well,
beat the Mariners thirteen to four. Just for a second,
what an egg the Mariners lay your first. You're in
(02:00):
the Alcs for the first time in twenty four years,
and everybody is crazy and you get blown out like this.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
Oh, you had you got steak to a lead. Come on,
you get steaked to a lead in the first.
Speaker 1 (02:11):
You had everything going your way and you just got
absolutely pummeled.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Now give give Bieber all the credit in the world.
Three times I give Dave Steve a lot of credit
for how he pitched tonight. Yes, again, the mustache is
just making you see things. My mind's playing tricks on me.
He goes six innings, eight strikeouts, but just the one
mistake to Rodriguez and then the bullpen does the job.
Rodriguez did his best to make it interesting, at least momentarily. Yeah,
(02:38):
because it becomes the a if you can string a
couple of lands together, a couple of big flies, like five,
five outs, eight outs, like when we're counting those final
twelve outs, like, hey, that's still a long time. I mean, big,
big leads. We've seen plenty blown. You're a Mets fan.
I root for the White Sox. If I need to
remind you about these things. If they'd stopped games after
(02:59):
six innings the year, the White Sox might have just
been given the World Series. Yeah, they could have didn't
work out so yeah, so all of that three Yeah,
I tell you what, that final third of the game
I kept doing, you know, praying for rain, paying off
people here. It's like, I don't know whatever you can do, uh,
you know, water the lawn a little bit, and you
(03:19):
know what are they doing? They're supposed to just be
raking it. Why are they now? They said they needed
water and now the host broke. I mean, what are
you gonna do? But yeah, thirteen four year final. Look,
it's extra extra baseball in the championship series. I can't complain. Uh,
they didn't plunk Lad Guerrero when they had the chance
when he was going for the cycle. Though, No, no, no,
the maren is clearly saying we're gonna put this away
(03:41):
and come back to play another day. How about that?
Uh So with more baseball on the way again, we
had Game three of the NLCS tomorrow night. Yeah, we
do three big NFL stories that have broken the last
few hours. We're gonna kick things off. We're gonna gonna
we're gonna run run through them right now. Number one,
Derek Carr potentially could have come out of his retirement.
Speaker 1 (04:05):
Remember was last year. The shoulder wasn't feeling good, retiring
from the Saints. They let me keep ten million dollars
the rest of the money. It was awkward when it happened.
We thought there was another shoot to drop. And now
apparently Derek Carr, according to his brother David, turned down
a chance to come out of retirement and play quarterback
for the Bengals.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Now.
Speaker 1 (04:24):
They're both gonna have more on this on their podcast tomorrow,
But David Carr said, yeah, Derek would have come out
of retirement to the Bengals, but he wanted something more
long term, because is it really right that he comes
back and lead you all the way to the playoffs
and then Joe Burrow comes back and obviously it's his team.
And I'm like, okay, I see that in theory, but
(04:45):
I want to say, you know who Derek Carr is, right, Like,
you know that this point in his career, he's not
getting paid. He's got no long term future anywhere. He
is a bridge guy at best if he does decide
to come back. He was lucky to get the contract
he did from the Saints because there were no other
quarterbacks out there, and Derek Carr became a guy. Well, hey,
he's only out there because there's no other quarterbacks, and
(05:07):
the Saints gave him a lot of money. It was
a disaster. Everybody knows that he's done. But when you're
the Bengals and you're looking for something, because clearly you
knew Jake Browning, wasn't it. Yeah, the only way you're
getting back in the league is if you come back
and say show us you can do it, then maybe
you can get a starting gig at some point somewhere
next year. Obviously it's not gonna be in Cincinnati because
it's Joe Burrow's team, But you really think someone else
(05:30):
is gonna have you come out and start for them,
Like you understand this is Derek Carr and the situation
he retired. He wasn't high. He's not high on anybody's
list right now. I don't know if that'll ever be
anybody's list again. But you turned down a chance to
come back just because ah, if Joe Burrow comes back,
it's not right, Like whoa man? Like, what do you
see the landscape in the NFL?
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Do you see reality? He also, if the reports were true,
remember back in when he left, was he forfeited his
fully guaranteed twenty two twenty five salary in order to
keep the portion of his signing bonus. Now, if that's true,
he already made a terrible business decision on that because
he could have been rehabbing off to the side in
(06:11):
the Saints organization while pocketing thirty million dollars. So he
may be feeling a little sting. Wow, what did I do?
Who advised me to do it? David? Did you make
me do that? By the way, Also their podcast, while
this is interesting, wouldn't you rather watch Keanu Reeves with
the Kelsey's a little bit little bit? So? I mean,
(06:35):
this is nice and juicy, but you're not winning the
brother's battle in the podcast universe, He's got the movie
with the angel he's putting not a real angel.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
It's kind of fun. He's actually John Wick. I think
in every movie it turns out to be John Wick.
Speaker 3 (06:46):
Maybe it was actually an extension of Constantine and we
just haven't gotten that part of the truck. Tell you what.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Ballerina was a fantastic You love that one. Yeah, I
can't tell you how good it was. And I don't
know why it wasn't a bigger hit.
Speaker 3 (06:59):
There's a lot of the last year or two I
see him like, why why didn't anybody love you? I don't,
I don't know. But all of that to say with
Derek Carr, who's clamoring for his job, nobody is if
you go, because if you were able to come, like physically,
if he was ready to play, and he played well,
you got Jamar Chay. You're not getting anything better than
walking into Chasin Higgins. Right, That's why I don't know that.
(07:21):
They say reality. So you play for eight weeks or whatever,
and then Joe Burrow suddenly says tada and he's back.
Guess what if you played reasonably well, you get a
contract somewhere else that's the way this works. Instead you're
out a virtual chalkboard with your brother elsewhere.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
Travis Hunter is apparently going to get a bigger role
with the Jaguars starting this week. And you know they
play internationally again, they play the Rams. They want to
find a way to get in the football. Is the
number one option on a lot of routes. Now we
know the secondary in the Rams is suspect. Yeah, and
I'm gonna say this, it's about bleeping time, okay, because
(08:02):
clearly you have problems with Brian Thomas being the lead guy.
The offense has not been great. And you see Travis Hunter,
what's his mistackle percentage is one of the top three
or four in the NFL. You watch him plays when
he gets the ball, You're like, wow, how do you
not get him the ball?
Speaker 5 (08:16):
More?
Speaker 3 (08:17):
Man like?
Speaker 1 (08:18):
You got to concentrate a little bit more on him
getting the football, right. I get the year you're you're
parsing out his playing time, But there's a reason why
you took this guy that high in the draft, and
it's not to catch three passes for twenty four yards
a week. If he's a playmaker of the highest or
you gotta find a way to get him the football.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Thus far, twenty catches one hundred and ninety seven yards
the high cam against Kansas City, with sixty four receiving
yards on the long of forty four in that one.
The thing I love most about watching him work. And
I was telling you about a spot I did down
in Jacksonville earlier today, and they're asking how much LA
watches the Jaguars ooh, to which I laughed, is it?
(08:55):
I'm good they got the national host when they play
a national game in Trevor Lawrence. Yeah, I mean I
look that.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
But but Travis Hunter, like he's the biggest People want
to see this guy, want to see him do things.
It's like, how do you not get him the ball?
Speaker 4 (09:08):
War all right?
Speaker 3 (09:08):
I mean great that they're doing it, but how do
you not want to get him the ball? Right out
of the gate. But the thing watching him week to week,
we know the guy will give up his body to
go make a play for you. And you've seen that
on the receiving end. You certainly have seen it defensively,
and he's made a couple of catches as like he
saved Trevor Lawrence's bacon. One ball should have been picked
instead he picks it off and makes it a catch. So,
(09:30):
uh yeah, get in the ball more because you don't
have a decided number two. And that connection with Brian
Thomas is still suspect on a game to game basis
the third story and it's gonna be an everyday story
because everybody needs a running back and you know the
Jets are going to trade Breecee Hall at some point,
Aaron Glenn said today, No, just rumors. Nothing's changed for
the same way about Breese Hall before the season that
(09:51):
I do. Now, Yeah, let me tell you what's happening.
Breese Hall is getting traded by the deadline. Okay, He's
coming up at the end of his run with the Jets,
and while he has set in the past, he wants
to stay. He just put a really cryptic Free twenty
post on social media which I want to go free twenty. Dude,
you get the ball on every play. What do you
mean free twenty? So obviously he means he wants to
not be a Jet. You know what, Hey, you're gonna
(10:14):
get your wish because you're gonna go because the Jets
are not gonna give you money when when when they
have so many needs, we're not gonna pay a running
back that has been potentially shown how good he is
but has had trouble staying on the field. Brice Hall's
a really good player and on the right team, he's
gonna be terrific. But the Jets, you're zero to six.
You need all kinds of draft picks and players you
(10:35):
can get. He's going to get traded now. It probably
would have happened already or they would have been talking
about it now. But Brayln Allen getting hurt. Who is
gonna be the next up and he's out till December.
That's gonna hurt them, right, And Isaiah Davis is a
really young guy and they like him. But you can't
just say we're giving you the backfield because we're telling
the team we're quitting after six weeks, and that's gonna
be a really bad message. But by the deadline, Breece
(10:57):
Hall's gone. It looks like he wants to go. I
can't believe anything Aaron Glenn says has the blessing of
anything above him. Oh and I still feel the same, dude.
Come on, man, we all live in the real world.
But like, I don't think the Jets are gonna listen
to you at all. I don't think.
Speaker 1 (11:09):
I don't think your team listens to you. So I
really don't think the front office is listening to you
because clearly you can't solve any of the problems they
have with penalties and bad play and not finishing games.
So yeah, Breess Hall's gonna get dealt. It's gonna happen
by the deadline, and it's gonna be The good thing
is it's gonna be a bidding war because it be
teams like the Chiefs and the Texans, and you have
a lot of competitive teams that feel like, hey, we're
(11:30):
running back away. Breese Hall's available, let's go get that guy. Uh,
there will be a bit of a bidding war. The
Jets will get a good trade for him, but clearly
he's gonna be gone by the devil.
Speaker 3 (11:39):
Yeah, and they can figure out his ball security issues too,
that might help. But all of that say, I fully
believe Aaron Glenn. I don't think he's changed his.
Speaker 1 (11:47):
Mind, and I just don't think he's no what he
thinks is relevant, No, no, no, But what I want him, Yeah,
but that's not what I no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (11:53):
But that's the thing is, like I like him just
as much as I did. In other words, if Braylen
Allen were healthy, he would be my lead back. So
I like him just as much as I did before
this season.
Speaker 1 (12:04):
I mean, he's gonna The thing is, he's gonna be
a big difference maker because he just came right into
the Jets system and was able to take off. So
he's gonna be a plug and play guy. And it
really he can take a team like the Chiefs or
the Texans. Teams and teams that need a running back
to the Jets will be okay dealing with uh And
because you know what, Hey, Johnson is not gonna send
(12:24):
Tom a team he doesn't like. No, no, not give
him to the Giants, not giving him here, not giving him,
not give him.
Speaker 3 (12:29):
To the Steeler. But anyway, they've already got the Juggernaut.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
He will get delt somewhere big, maybe the Broncos, you know,
depending on on how things go. But he's gonna go,
and he's he's gonna be of all the people available
to the deadler. Right, we heard that Jacoby Myers might
be available, Raids might look to trade him. Sometimes it's
hard for a wide receiver to slide into a new
a new system. But Breese Hall is the guy. If
you're saying, who's the player at the deadline that can
(12:54):
take a team from hey, we're contenders to hey, now
we're a super Bowl threat?
Speaker 3 (12:58):
Breese Hall is that guy. Yeah, especially in theory, he
leaves the attitude with the team he doesn't like Yea,
I'm letting him out and then I'm gone, Because that's
that's been part of it. That that the question of
what the asking price would be is like, is that
just because he's tired of losing and it's an attitudinal
thing related to the team, or is that just he's
(13:18):
a sour puss? Like where where? Where is that line
of demarcation?
Speaker 2 (13:22):
Again?
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Fumbling issues have to stay in New York too.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swalling down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
Chets coming up next.
Speaker 1 (13:33):
It's not every day you get a story that a
coach who steps down from his team saying, you know,
I'm kind of done. The next day you find out
that he nearly got in a fight with one of
his other coaches. Yes, and none of them liked the guy.
Speaker 3 (13:46):
But that's what we got coming up next, right here,
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (13:53):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

(14:13):
absolute morons who have the dumbest takes on sports imagiable.
Don't listen to the show so it can get camp.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
Happy birthday, Birthday, Harmon Birthday to.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
Jason.
Speaker 6 (14:43):
He was actually wearing just a kilt. Okay, yeah, no shirt,
just to kilt. You were picturing a dress, but it
was just a kilt. Oh.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
A NFL insider singing Happy birthday to Mike Harmon celebrating
a birthday tonight. Yeah, and we found out that his
mom s into money. First birthday?
Speaker 3 (15:03):
Why is that wrong? At swollen? No? Fifty one right,
fifty two fifty two, got kids, job everything, parents. You
never stopped being a parent, said buddy. You never. You
never stopped trying to do for your kids. He's any buddy.
I hope I'm around long enough to know when my
kids or we used to get much.
Speaker 1 (15:25):
It was it a ten dollars bill in a card,
and it's a little bit more, okay?
Speaker 3 (15:28):
Was it twenty dollars bill in a little bit more
in a card? They know I live in California, so
a twenty dollars bill ain't getting me a happy meal,
let alone a decent lunch with my daughter.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
You opened the card, the money fell You got excited
like you were a kid. We opened the card and
the money fell out.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
You're like oh it was a check. They also don't
trust that it was making it was that it's showing
up without being a Pilford. Hey man, I'm gonna look, man,
you're gonna you got walt right right?
Speaker 4 (15:59):
Wa? Wa?
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Was on the internet? Does he trust people like you?
Read enough the articles going? Man, there's a lot of
scams out there, and what and what do you do
when you have all these talks and you're you're talking
to to folks of a little bit a little bit
of age to them, what do you do? Don't trust anybody?
And so what are they gonna do? They're not sending cash.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
You were gonna go to the bank tomorrow and the
teller's gonna go, Okay, who had October sixteenth in the pool?
Speaker 3 (16:23):
The next time someone comes into depositive check, you can
do that on your phone, jackass, You scam it on
your phone. I don't need to I don't even need
to go into the bank. Into the bank.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Oh, but you get a lollipop too when you go
right up, because you know the teller's alf ball right there,
you're a lollip.
Speaker 3 (16:44):
I'm really I'm really not understanding why this is such
a difficult. I'm glad you're entertained. I mean, this is
pretty cool. There's no glastion about it. I was able
to buy my daughter's cheesecake, so we sang and we
had a happy old time. I was a nice brisket
late for my older daughter. Okay, I had a little
bit of pastrami. And uh, did you just sign the
(17:05):
check over to what'd you do? You signed the check over?
Was it a postdated third party check that you said?
Speaker 4 (17:10):
Oh?
Speaker 3 (17:10):
Hey, you go up, be good. Here's the money paying
for this? I thought about it.
Speaker 1 (17:13):
Can you give me the money back, the difference, see
me the difference back, and I'll leave it as a tip?
Speaker 3 (17:16):
Sure? Why not?
Speaker 6 (17:19):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (17:19):
God, try to pay with a tip but a check
from his mom? Yeah, whatever, it's harm and let him go.
It's fine. I'm sure he's good for it.
Speaker 5 (17:25):
You know what.
Speaker 3 (17:26):
I'm a staple of my community. People know me, people
like me. Hey, how you doing, buddy? Everything good? How's
the jackass you work with that night?
Speaker 6 (17:34):
Hey?
Speaker 3 (17:34):
You know what I mean? This will be a story
when I go to the grocery store tomorrow. How was hey?
How was your day? How do I send Michael? I
don't know twenty dollars he lives in California. Thirty dollars. Hi,
I'll send him fifty. Fifty is too much. Fifty is
too much. Wow, Sorry, my parents love me. Let's send
(17:58):
Michael somebody for see. I just I just cut through
the wall right there. Yeah, there you go.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
If I get if I got my dad to actually
say happy birthday, it's a it's a good hey man.
Speaker 3 (18:08):
Look, I got certain folks in my extended universe that
I don't think it crossed their mind. And that's fine, Okay,
all right, that's all right. Uh no, So and the
fact that you guys remembered, Yeah, I mean, come on it,
Cole will come. I have to remind jasonboy.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Oh stop stop. It comes up on my phone now
every year. Okay, yeah, that comes.
Speaker 3 (18:28):
I mean we know yours because of Beehive Yeah, Bayhive.
Yeah remember when he hated you? No, bayh I'm never
hated him. It might have been Abam didn't hate we
got clips. No, No, not as much as hershy Jim
Curtis Martin. We are beheim On. We've had two bay
we have we BAM's on this. We need to go
find the rest of the family.
Speaker 1 (18:48):
My favorite story of today. It involves the baseball.
Speaker 3 (18:52):
Is it better than my checks? I don't know. You're
getting a check at the age of fifty one from
your parents to your birth fifty two for your birth.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
It did show up when I was fifty one. I
tried to make it younger so it sound bad better,
but it look good.
Speaker 3 (19:02):
Same thing. Yeah, no, it's great. Let's give Mike a
check for a spurt. What's wrong with that? I love
you mom and dad. Uh.
Speaker 1 (19:11):
The best story out of the playoffs today has nothing
to do with the Mariners loss of the Blue Jays,
but the drama now surrounding Mike Shilt, who retired a
day ago as manager of the Padres.
Speaker 3 (19:25):
Right, the Padres killed him pod. But that's the way
he phrased it. That's how bad they are at baseball.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
They made him quit. Yeah, did he make him quit?
Or did they make him quit? Because he said a
day ago? You know he's only fifty seven. Like you
look at Mike Shilton, you think, well, yeah, it's seventy. No, no,
it's fifty seven. I'm like, think anybody sent him a
check his birthday. It's been a long baseball life for
Mike Shilton. He had a good run, and he said
(19:51):
it was time for him to retire because too much
to deal with every day. And he was done right,
he was done with Charles. He he said, trying to
make people happy.
Speaker 2 (20:02):
Grind.
Speaker 3 (20:03):
The baseball season has taking a severear toll. And I
get that.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
Look that the baseball season itself and the grind that
I understand.
Speaker 3 (20:09):
I understand.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
You get to a point where hey, I'm not up
for travel of one hundred and sixty two games. It's
a difficult thing. Get to that point when you get older,
where you know what, I'm kind of dumb with it.
Some people are okay with it rest of their lives,
enjoy the travel, enjoy everything. Some people are like, you
know what, Yeah, I don't find have got on a
plane and fly three thousand miles every four days.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
Yeah, I'm okay with that. But he starts like this
old statement he gave to the San Diego Union Tribune.
While it has always been about serving others, you're not
a grade school teacher or a librarian. Well, I mean, yes,
I guess there's teaching when you're managing and all. I
get that. Then there's some of that, but come on now,
but now it may sink with the story we got today.
(20:49):
According to sources that Mike Shilt resigned and he kind
of had to because there's a lot many reports of
locker room strife, not with the players, but with his
coaches because Shilt wasn't great to his coaches, didn't treat
them well. In fact, things got so heated after one
(21:11):
coach was was reprimanded or got yelled at so badly
he wanted to fight Mike Shilt and there was almost
a fight. Manager almost fought one of his coach, according
to reports, almost fought one of his coaches. Let's go,
that's how bad it was when you're a baseball manager.
(21:32):
Not a foot not something though, Tommy, Tommy Lasorda and
the Philly fanatics come on, but that but that's a
different era. Shilton Zimmer Shilt was.
Speaker 1 (21:42):
A great manager with the Cardinals, and he had to go, Okay,
that didn't okay, now I understand a little bit. Now
you kind of get okay, the dude wasn't potentially wasn't
treating his coaches right. So that's why we we can't
keep going forward with this. And so now, when when
you get to a point where the coach you want
to fight the guy you want to fight another coach
(22:02):
Like that's whoa. Now you know why the Padres don't win.
Now you know why the Dodgers find a way. Now
you know why the Padres look like a team that
sometimes look great and sometimes they get in a funk
and they look like a team that's never played together. Like,
now this all makes sense, right, Why can't the Padres
get over the top? They have all the talent in
the world. Now you understand why. And I'll even go
(22:22):
a step further. Boy, if they get the right guy,
they're gonna be a real trendy pick for the World
Series next year. Because that first year, after being out
from under the cloud of whatever drama goes on with
the manager, it's always your best year. The players play
the freest, they have the most amount of chemistry with
each other because they're feeling good. Now, after that first year,
(22:42):
things get a little different and the players get a
little bit more too comfortable, and you see it, that's
how it goes in sports, Like you have a players
manager and it goes well for a year or two,
but then the players don't feel like they be held
accountable by the coach or the manager. So then he
gets fired. A more disciplined guy comes in that works
at the very beginning, but after a year or so,
the players start chafing at it, you know, players manager
(23:05):
coming in then, But like this is the this is
the case of here's shilt. If there's all this drama happening,
they bring the right guy in and and and you know,
I don't know if Albert Pools is the right guy
because but he's now talking to a lot of teams.
But they're gonna be a real trendy World Series pick
for next year because they have all the talent in
the world. They just need to find a way to
harness it. But being in the first year of a
(23:26):
new regime where everything is wide open, everything feels great.
You just go and play baseball. Watch out for the
Padres next year.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Yeah, there's a lot going on with this story, right.
We talked about the infighting and some of his missive
talking about death threats on gambling and other things. So, uh,
both of both things can be true at the same time,
like I don't need this anymore and that you'd add
an unhealthy relationship with those that you're working with. There's
(23:52):
been a lot of speculation and questions of their leadership
in terms of their roster as well. I think they
were felled as soon as that group of guys did
the That's what's in bit that that song a couple
of years ago that went viral. That was terrible, And
then you had all the people at the library with
their rally stuff. I think it started to turn south there.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
Yeah, yeah, well, what would treating series in April like
it's September that that's business yourself and that's the thing, right,
So by the end of the year, nobody wants to
be in the same room.
Speaker 3 (24:24):
You're you're pressing at the plate, you're pressing on the mound. Uh,
and everything gets magnified on a whole other level. So yeah,
to your point, perhaps, I mean, because they got a
great roster, they spent money.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
What could you possibly say to another coach that's gonna
make him want to fight?
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Like?
Speaker 1 (24:39):
How bad was what he must have said, again a
corner of parts. How bad was what he must have said.
It's going to make it a fifty year old man,
not not a twenty five year old kid. Where Hey,
you get in somebody's face and there's something going on
and I'm disrespected and you say no. But but two
grown ass men, what could you possibly to one of
the coaches on your team that makes them want to fight?
Speaker 3 (24:59):
I don't have a specific example, I mean, other than
potentially being non FCC compliant, but I think it might
be the Death by a thousand cuts, right, go back
to a prior Taylor Swift album. But just the idea
that you have a guy that's negative that long and
eventually just says the wrong thing about how you're approaching
the game, how you're talking to a player, whatever, the
(25:21):
communication whatever, that was the issue of the day, And
it might have been a minor thing, like we all
had that, yeah, right, work relationships, relationships you know, with
your family members, relationships, romantic whatever, where there's little things
that bug you and then one day something just innocuous
just sends you over the edge. That might have been
the case here. I don't know where all of a sudden,
(25:43):
you're in the hallway, is trying to throw down.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, like making
fun of my parents loving me, That could be problematic.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
No, loving you is great, but when you're in your
fifties and they're still sending you a check. Thanks for
the meal, pops. Mom.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
Time now to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports. From someone who potentially brought her laundry
to her parents' house so her mom.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
Could do him he's getting judging today, it's Monty Belas.
Speaker 7 (26:18):
Not potentially potentially.
Speaker 3 (26:21):
Okay, very good, very the weekly. Now do you bring
like a big load or sometimes sometimes.
Speaker 5 (26:26):
I don't bring everything there. It's stuff that I care
to be washed.
Speaker 3 (26:31):
Well, well, okay, So it's not like you bring all
your betty and say here's.
Speaker 7 (26:35):
No no, no, no, no no no.
Speaker 5 (26:36):
It's like my my nice clothes that I know my
mom will take good care of. I bring that and
it's so but like stuff at home, like you know,
the betting, my sweaty clothes, none of that. It's like, oh,
I wore these nice shirts this week. I'm gonna take
them to my mom because I know she's either going
to send them to a cleaner or she's going to
take care of them herself.
Speaker 3 (26:53):
Wow. So not only will she do the but she'll
pay for sending them to a cleaner.
Speaker 4 (26:58):
For you.
Speaker 7 (26:58):
Absolutely, I'm her favorite.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
Yeah, you have a great situation right there.
Speaker 7 (27:03):
I like to think so as well.
Speaker 3 (27:05):
So they do their friends with Harmon's parents, I think
they get along really well.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
They might do your parents like to drink because my
parents like.
Speaker 7 (27:13):
Would they be at a happy hour? Because my parents
are probably at a happy hour.
Speaker 3 (27:17):
Once upon a time. Yeah, I don't drink anymore. Yeah
enough enough hell things and just looking at it.
Speaker 7 (27:22):
Yeah, you know, that's.
Speaker 5 (27:24):
That's what they're doing in their nine thirty happy hours
over No, not for them, it's probably just getting started.
Speaker 3 (27:29):
Really.
Speaker 7 (27:29):
Yeah, my parents can now last.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Me an hour and a half.
Speaker 7 (27:33):
Where we going, Yeah, they're in Toritos. They'd be like,
well meet you and curritos.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Oh, guys.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Baseball October baseball really was all Blue Jays tonight. They
absolutely dominated the Mariners. You know, in their first three
games of the ALCS, they had eight hits. Today they
had eighteen hits, five home runs. They crushed Seattle thirteen
to four. Seattle still leads the series two to one.
In Game four will be tomorrow Thursday. If you're already
on the East Coast. Vladimir Guerrero Junior was perfect at
(28:03):
the play four of four, including a home run George
Kirby was the Seattle starter. He pitched four innings and struggled,
gave up four hits and four or eight. Gave up
eight hits and eight earned runs. Cal Rawley did hit
a home run in this one, but of course they
lost again thirteen to four. Also, the Dodgers and the
Brewers will have their Game three at Dodger Stadium that
is at six eastern, and the Blue Jays and Mariners
(28:24):
is at eight thirty.
Speaker 7 (28:25):
Eastern on Thursday. Also Thursday Night Football. How about that
Bengals and Steelers.
Speaker 5 (28:30):
Right now, Cincinnati is listing pass rusher Trey Hendrickson asked
questionable for Tomorrow's game because of a hip injury. No
practice on Wednesday for Rams wide receiver Pukinakua because of
an ankle injury, and the colt signed quarterback Brett Rippen
to their practice squad because Anthony Richardson had to go
on ir you know that band slapped him in the face.
Orbit'll fracture the whole thing, the whole thing. NBA news, Well,
(28:52):
Lebron James is not playing in this preseason game, but
he is tweeting.
Speaker 7 (28:56):
He is tweeting Buck of.
Speaker 1 (28:57):
Course he is geez, do he jumping Jackson? There's something
and cartwheels while he's doing.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
About an hour ago, he tweeted GV going crazy right
now sheesh and a bunch of fire emojis. George Vincent
I think at this point had six threes, so that's
why he tweeted that.
Speaker 7 (29:13):
But the Lakers are losing right now to the Mavericks.
It's just preseason.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
But Lebron is.
Speaker 7 (29:16):
There in tweeting, so I guess there's that. Who knows
when he's gonna play? You know, he's dealing with sciatica.
Speaker 5 (29:21):
ESPN is reporting that he's going to take a patient
approach before his Lakers season debut, with the expectation that
he could return early November, but they may push the
timeline back if needed. In hockey, we got the Blackhawks
defeating the Blues eight to three, and the Mammoth defeated
the Flames three to one. And lastly, here, of course,
we're celebrating a birthday. Happy birthday, mister harmon. I do
(29:45):
we help you know where you've brought you a little
bit of joy tonight.
Speaker 3 (29:49):
It's a beautiful thing. And now we bring you and
bring you and hardy handshake. Wow. Look at this little
something for you and this cheesecake.
Speaker 7 (29:59):
Happy birthday.
Speaker 3 (30:00):
A lot of stuff going on. Shay is in here, Shay,
give him the lap dance. Harmon's gonna blow the candle out,
shame Shay right here, Shay, there you go, shake Shay
all right, twenty dollars, twenty dollars, twenty dollars if you
take that candle off and then hit Harmon in the
face with this with this cake right in the cake
right and Frostburg offered him one hundred oh one hundred
(30:22):
and twenty dollars birthday dollar's face.
Speaker 4 (30:25):
Happy birthday, Happy Birthday, Happy birthday. Birthday to your Harmon,
Happy birthday to you.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Guys are too kind, Mike, Yeah, call a doctor in
four hours. So we got cake to bring like it's
a it's a cheesecake that's beautiful with fruit on it
says happy birthday, Mike. That's pretty good. Yeah, that's the
(30:55):
next level stuff. Who's expensing it? You know you got it.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
I'll tell you what out you're your mom sent me
the money to buy good Yeah, just so you know,
thanks mom.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
That's all.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Yeah, the envelope said little Jason diapers. I mean, Shay,
you could have made one hundred and twenty dollars putting
that cake and Harmon's I would have been happy to
part with one hundred yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
And and one hundred twenty bucks. That's all. That's all
I got. Yeah, that's it doesn't but it's worth it.
Speaker 2 (31:20):
You would have said, my mom sent that money to.
Speaker 1 (31:23):
That's why Frostburg said, Jason, turned your phone on and
get video Harmon doing this? Why, yeah, trust me? Oh okay,
all right, oh there, oh.
Speaker 6 (31:29):
No, there it is.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
So I took the candle out and blew it out,
and so it wasn't anywhere near the cheesecase. Yeah, no,
that's not so. I thought that was pretty nice, but
I did I risked burning myself. Yeah, ye know what
Mike Harmon goes through on his birthday. Well, fortunately this
was a longer candle, so I had an opportunity. There
you go here, what what's great? What'd you wish for?
I can't tell you, all right, tell me something'll come true?
(31:51):
Tell me something I made every day I do the
eleven eleven wish, I mean, I got it all.
Speaker 1 (31:55):
Tell me something you wished for in the past that
didn't come true.
Speaker 3 (31:58):
A bears win. I wish I was a little bit taller.
How would you waste it on that? He said? That
didn't come true.
Speaker 7 (32:07):
That was so quick, so quick.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
It's really fast, really quick. Thin's it up about a
Fresco exit? Swollen dove.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon coming up next, something very special,
she said, to celebrate Mike Harmon's birthday.
Speaker 3 (32:24):
I I think you know what it is. It's a
return of the greatest sports game in radio history. Jason,
give me on hundred twenty. I'll run in there right now.
I got to car Man.
Speaker 1 (32:38):
I thiny're gonna say, Jason, I'll do it for free.
Speaker 3 (32:43):
The greatest sports radio game in the world is next.
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (33:04):
Extra cockfight coming up in ten minutes.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
We got three big late breaking stories out of the NFL,
owing record setting running backs, wide receivers looking for a
big contract, and a huge battle between an NFL quarterback
and an NFL analyst. But as we celebrate Mike Harmon's
birthday today, there is no better way to do it
(33:31):
than to play the greatest radio game in sports talk
radio history. We always, well, that's just a regular game.
Oh uh, Unfortunately have to wait until he starts tweeting.
But Magic Johnson has started tweeting.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Now it's the Magic Johnson twelve game.
Speaker 1 (33:56):
Yes, it's simple in theory. The more you think about it,
the more difficult it gets. No more obvious than vanilla
tweeter in sports than Magic Johnson.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
I give you the tweet.
Speaker 1 (34:06):
Your job is simply to tell me if that is
a Magic Johnson tweet or made up by me.
Speaker 3 (34:14):
Playing tonight.
Speaker 1 (34:15):
Mike Harmon, Justin Frossberg, Alex Tyshert, red hot Manci Bolanos,
who I think was three for three the last round
in this.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Are you guys ready like a boss? Let's get Magic
Johnson twitter game? Jason? Yes, when not? Give you my
prediction for Thursday night football next time. Yeah, you have to, dude,
you have to hear it. I'm on a fire talking
about red Hot. Yes, come on that second he did
last week. I mean I actually had multiple people ask
me about it. How did that come to pass? How
good was it? What did you think? I said?
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Well, I'm not going to make a deal for you.
I'm not gonna make a deal with like last. But
you'll get to pick the game this week, because clearly
you're picking Thursday night.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Foot.
Speaker 1 (34:56):
You said Giants by fourteen last week, and you were right,
the only one in the world who was right about
the SCATUMO man, I wonder what the odds were that
you won by fourteen plus, because you you would have
gotten plus mo big if.
Speaker 6 (35:09):
You're looking to beat plus fourteen spread take the Jets
answers by at least thirty.
Speaker 1 (35:20):
So here is your magic John's Twitter game. Here is
tweet number one. Whew, Dodger Nation. Dodger Nation games three, four,
and potentially five are at Dodger Stadium. Can't wait to
(35:41):
see you out there? Is that a magic Johnson tweet?
Dodger Nation Games three, four, potentially five are at Dodger Stadium.
Can't wait to see you out there? Harmon, it makes
my head hurt. That's probably right? Yeah, sure, all.
Speaker 7 (35:59):
Right, Nah, too many words, it's no for me.
Speaker 3 (36:01):
Too many words? Yeah wow, okay, too many said it
was a simple man. Too many, too many, too many Frostburg.
Is that a magic Johnson tweet?
Speaker 6 (36:12):
I'm gonna say no because he probably thinks it's two
two one one.
Speaker 3 (36:19):
Okay, all right, tight shirt, What do we got? I'm
still trying to figure out who is magic Johnson? That's
the answer. Who is magic? And magic Johnson? Oh so
that's my answer? Johnson? Correct? Awesome, Yes, there you go, sucking.
I'm on fire. I'm gonna say no.
Speaker 8 (36:41):
Is not no magic Johnson tweet? Who the hell says
Dodger Nation? Maybe magic Johnson? Who says that was good?
That was a good victory, Dodger Nation. We haven't accomplished
anything yet in this series. We have to continue to
(37:02):
stay focused mentally and physically and play good baseball? Is
that a magic Johnson tweet? You say you don't think
Dodger Nation? I give you Dodger Nation. We haven't accomplished
anything yet in this series versus the Brewers. We have
to continue to stay focused mentally and physically and play
good baseball.
Speaker 1 (37:22):
Is that a magic Johnson tweet? No, it's too rich.
Speaker 3 (37:26):
Okay, it's a lot of words, like Monzi is a
lot of words.
Speaker 1 (37:29):
It's a lot of word too any words? Too many words? Okay, Monzi?
Is that a magic? Johnson tweet?
Speaker 7 (37:34):
You know, it's a lot of words. Again, Who's Dodgernation?
Who are you talking to?
Speaker 3 (37:38):
Magic is talking to Dodger Nation.
Speaker 7 (37:40):
No, I'm gonna say.
Speaker 3 (37:43):
No, okay, okay, because.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
He went right back to the well with the Dodger Nation.
See that's the thing about this game. The more you
try to think about it, the more difficult to guess correct. Yes,
it's like yeah, it's like a fingercuffs when you put them.
Speaker 3 (37:57):
The more the more you try to get out of
him in there, it's the case. I won't overthink it. Yes, okay, yes, okay,
all right? Tight shirt? Who is dog eight seven seven
ninety nine Dodger fans? Dodger fans? You want to hear
(38:20):
from you? Yes, that is definitely a tweet. That is definitely.
Speaker 1 (38:28):
A man.
Speaker 3 (38:30):
Johnson tweets I gotcha with the double Dodger Nations talking
just like Roddy Roddy Piper used to say, when you
start changing the answers, I start changing the questions. I
can't you guys? Are you guys are? Oh? You got Yeah?
It's difficult now, isn't it. I just wish I was
(38:51):
wearing a kilt easy like giants.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
Hopefully the Lakers can get some of this Dodger magic
in their game against the Mavericks tomorrow. Is that a
magic Johnson tweet? No, hopefully the Lakers can get some
of this Dodger magic against the Macks tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Okay, monci, is that a magic Johnson A lot of words? Yeah,
hopefully the Lakers can get some of that Dodger magic
tomorrow against the Mavericks.
Speaker 7 (39:29):
No way, yeah, no, it's not that's not okay.
Speaker 3 (39:32):
Okay, who is Dodgers magic? I thought Magic Johnson was
a guy, But now Dodger magic is someone Wait.
Speaker 1 (39:43):
A minute, is that his alter ego Frostburg? Is that
a Magic Johnson tweet?
Speaker 6 (39:48):
Did he follow that up with a tweet that Lebron
is leading the Lakers and points there.
Speaker 3 (39:53):
Is no follow up tweet about Lebron. That'll be the
greatest present ever when Lebron no bleeping eyed? Yeah that
it's preseason.
Speaker 7 (40:01):
Hell no, that's not all right?
Speaker 3 (40:03):
All right? I thought this was about the Dodgers. Okay,
is this Lakers?
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Now?
Speaker 3 (40:08):
We had a Dodger magic phrase in there? He does
Lakers two? Yes, what else does he do? Hey? Here's
the thing? All that he played for the Lakers yeah,
you didn't know that the Lakers. I saw that, but no,
he played wait wait, ready for this. I saw the
show coached. No, that's a stretch that is on the bench.
Did he really coach? There? Is he made gestures?
Speaker 1 (40:32):
Not a Magic Johnson three for three, not even knowing
who Magic Johnson is, Tyers three for three, He's a wizard.
Coming up next, those three big late breaking NFL stories
are next. Jason and Mike, this is Fox Sports Radio.
What is Magic Johnson
