of the final baseball game of the night. Hey, four
games today, every two hours we saw a game start. Yep,
awesome day. It was like a holiday. The Mets play

(01:11):
the Mets well the Mets actually won tonight because the
Yankees lost. Just so you know, the Yankees losing is
equal to or greater than a Mets win.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
So it's fine, everything is good.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
Yankee, Let's go, Let's go.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Vlad Guerrero Junior and David Ortiz on the f S
one post show doing the John sterling the Yankees win,
except the Yankees lose.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
It made for some interesting visuals.

Speaker 2 (01:49):
I'll do my best to try to lay it out here, right,
Laddie Yankee.

Speaker 3 (01:56):
Laddie and Ortiz do that.

Speaker 2 (01:57):
They're giggling, but then you meet least started doing the cutaways.
Jeter's smiling looking like what do I do here, had
his head in his hands like, oh my god. And
then they cut back and Ortiz is laughing like a lunatic.
Like It's fantastic, fantastic audio and certainly the visuals because

(02:20):
you have the uncomfortable former Yankees at the dais.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
The trolling of the Blue the Blue Jays trolling of
the Yankees is a little out of control, right, I like,
I like the trolling, but it's like, is it really
that personal? Like is it really I mean, is it
really that person? Okay, wise, so they're on TV doing
the Yankees lose. They're playing New York, New York in
the clubhouse, like this is I really it's it's a

(02:46):
little over the top, and it's it's a it's a
little weird for me that here's a team that is
gonna go that with you know, they play each other,
you know, sixteen nineteen times a year, whatever it is,
and uh, yeah, we're gonna go We're gonna party on
your field like this. Yeah, Like it's a little it's
a little weird to see that's to this extent of
the Blue Jay simply because hey, wow, it seems weird

(03:09):
that a team is gonna do this much trolling of
another team. And secondly, okay, you didn't beat the Yankees
to win the World Series. You're onto the Alcuess, right,
let's celebrate. But wow, yeah, you knocked out the Yankees.
The job is halfway for years, job is halfway down.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
It's been a long ass time, Like we're going all
the way back to Robbie Alomar in like j nineties. Yeah, okay, yeah,
that was a great team, Like we're talking ninety two,
ninety three. So yeah, you celebrate the hell out Von White.
You did it on their field. Sure you own them. Yeah,
so yeah, you sell it and you find your wins today.

Speaker 1 (03:45):
Over the top is mind just because over the top
so much because I've never talked like, look, you see teams. Look,
the Phillies have bad blood with everybody, right the that,
but bad blood with the Mets.

Speaker 2 (03:55):
They have bad blood. There's nothing. I thought you were
going to say, bad Bonnie they had bad bond. No,
we'll get to bad money he's got. He's like, you're
still sitting down and waiting for something to happen.

Speaker 1 (04:05):
The Phillies like take no, you know, look they can't
stand the Mets. Look what's their cheer at the end?
Blank them blank the Bravos and always the Mets, right, Like,
I get that. But the Yankees and Toronto, even though
they're they're you know, their division mates and division rivals, Like,
there's not been so much of the there's not been
a bloody past between these two teams. I get that,

(04:26):
it's been a long time, and you won, you knocked
the Yankees out, But I'm a little surprised while they're
really going to the wall for this celebration of trolling,
not just celebrating winning, but trolling the Yankees on television
in the clubhouse like it's a it's a little ballsy
by by the Blue Jet.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Look, man, there's the theory of act like you've been there.
That only counts to getting across the goal line. Hi,
mister de mercado.

Speaker 5 (04:48):
Uh.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
Once you're past the goal line, you do whatever the
hell you want. Whatever Your celebration is right, because some
might argue you shouldn't celebrate at all because you've won
really nothing. But you've advanced right, succeed and proceed. You
vanquished the Yankees, You took down Aaron Judge. You continue. Look,
he had a great postseason. It doesn't matter. He might

(05:10):
as well have gone Oho for nineteen because they go
quietly into the good night. So if you're the Blue Jays,
you don't know what the future rounds hold for you. You
beat the Yankees on their soil in front of Monument Park,
in front of all of these luminaries, Chalomay holding up
the five to win it in But no, he's going on.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Done well, chalom He's ready for the next Now, he's
ready for the next time. I know, I'm excited about
that Ping Pong movie. Like some great story in the
backstory of that. But either way, succeed and proceed. Let's
see what our next guest has to say about that.
Joining us on the hotline, Emily were Insider extraordinaire. He's
on Twitter at John Morosi. It is John PALMROSI. Welcome

(05:51):
inside man, and happy win for the Tigers today. I'm
sure you and your dad very happy going into Game five.

Speaker 6 (05:59):
We are, indeed that there is one more game in
this series. It's gonna be a lot of fun to
see it Friday night in Seattle. But of course, so
we cannot say the same for the New York Yankees
in their bid to make it a five game series
against the James. I think overall, let's make this point.
It'll be the third ever Alds game five in Mariner history,

(06:22):
of course, joining with the famous ninety five win and
two thousand and one as well, so both of those
won by the Seattle Mariners. But guys, I gotta say
this the facts that now the Yankees offseason is underway
this early on in October, one year after the disappointing
loss of the World Series, there is going to be

(06:45):
a lot of ink spent on what the Yankees should
do and will do during the course of this particular offseason.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
Well, and the thing is, John Paul, is that for
all of the Yankee losing, Like if you strip it away,
the Yankees were a pretty good team. They weren't great,
They were pretty good. Garrett cole injury clearly derailed a
lot of.

Speaker 2 (07:05):
What they could accomplish.

Speaker 1 (07:06):
He he's a great pitcher, and not only that, he's
a great playoff pitcher as well. So yeah, things might
have gone differently, But this was not a great Yankee team.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
They were pretty good.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
And you know that they tie for the division, they
go in as a wildcard, they lose in the Alds.
This was kind of an appropriate round loss for the Yankees,
but it's not what it was last year. And I
wonder if the first thing's going to be still with
fundamental mistakes, base running mistakes, mistakes, you know, swinging a
first pitch after a basis loaded walker. I wonder if
Aaron Boone's going to be the guy that pays the

(07:37):
price in the offseason.

Speaker 5 (07:38):
Well, I'd be surprised if the entire coaching staff returns
as it is right now. Whether it's Boone, I still
think that he has done a better job than many
of his critics would suggest. Is that going to be
enough to save his position as the New York Yankees manager.
I think we'll probably find out in the days. I

(08:01):
also think that if they're going to let go of
Aaron Boone, you also think about what exactly is Brian
Cashman's future there. If there's really a moment to reboot
the entire system, you do wonder just how pervasive those
changes could be. I tend to think that they will

(08:21):
go the route of some coaching staff changes and not
change the manager. But to me, guys, here's the issue
with this team. You're right, Garrett Cole not being there
is a significant bit of news, and that is context
on this entire season. And yet you look at the
lineup and today one more case where there were maybe

(08:43):
a couple base hits short really they made a little
bit of a late bush, but there was just not
enough consistent damage against this Blue Jays team, at least
when the games were close and winnable. And then you
start to wonder and say, okay, mutual option on Bellinger
Grisham one of their best players this season. He's a
free agent. They've got a number of other key free agents.

(09:05):
They're Goldschmid, so they're gonna have to figure out how
the corner infield positions look. Now le Mayhew's money is
finally off the books. What's Volpi's future as shortstop? In
my estimation, I will say this, I think the issue
is more has to do with the personnel that they've
put on this roster than with Aaron Boone's performance managing

(09:27):
it and coaching it through the staff. To me, it's
very difficult for the Yankees to basically run back the
same players that were fundamentally flawed a year ago against
the Dodgers and expect a different results that they were not,
in my judgment, as fundamentally sound as the Blue Jays are.

(09:49):
Blue Jay's a pretty solid defensive team. I know they
had some lapses yesterday. I just look at this team
as being one that had, yes, some improvements and some
adjustment since last year's roster, but they did not address
the fundamental underlying weaknesses of I think a lack of
of of just two way players, and that I say

(10:09):
is more of a front office issue than an Aaron
Boone issue.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
Well, situationally, I mean you had an opportunity today. I
mean we talked about the TBD on the Blue Jays side, JP,
I ran out eight guys and they couldn't find find
an opening to help Schlittler, who gave you another great
start exactly.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
And you're spot on, Mike, and and to me, when
you consider that that was the starting pitching matchup Schlittler,
who was a good it was very good. Yet again,
of course maybe not as many strikeouts or red sox,
but just but still.

Speaker 3 (10:43):
He made pitches.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
Yeah, exactly, a legit postseason dude. And they were not
able to mount much of anything against against some of
the same guys, including Parlan who had given up the
judge and Chisholmer's last night and you you're going, You're
going back to him and he starts the game and
he gets them up to a really good start. It's

(11:04):
it's a risky strategy. Your your bullpen has to be
I think, really good personnel wise and also really good
with execution to be able to navigate a game like
this in a situation like this, in a in a
potential clinching game. The Jays did it. And the Jays
and to me that the Yankees approach as an offense

(11:28):
tonight was simply not good enough and the plan not
not well executed enough in that particular circumstance to be
able to survive the season. It's just it cannot be
an acceptable result for the Yankees, and so I look
at it more as a roster problem. They have to
they have to just get different personnel in there, and
and the contracts expiring give them that opportunity. But honestly,

(11:53):
how many players on that team besides Judge were better
start to finish than Trent Grisham. And Grisham is now
a free agent. He's about to get paid because of
the way you play it as a two way player
this season, and Belliger's a big question too. So I
think they have enough questions without having to go out
there and hire a new manager. That would be my advice,
But they're probably not going to consult my views in

(12:16):
this particular issue, and.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
They'll be Network insider John Paul Morosi, our guest Jason Smith,
Mike Carmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. All right,
let's get to the Phillies and the Dodgers. Just when
final Phillies win it eight to two, they stay alive
for one more game, Okay, Clayton Kershaw comes in the
seventh inning and clearly he doesn't have it. Twenty one pitches,
nine for strikes, two walks. They put him back out

(12:39):
there for the eighth inning. Okay, you Dodgers don't have
a lot of guys obviously that they can trust, but
Dave Roberts doesn't have anybody ready coming out of the bullpen.

Speaker 2 (12:48):
He gives up a leadoff homer to Rel Muto. Like,
I get that.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Dave Roberts loves his guys and Kershaw means a lot,
but you got to take him out of the game
at that point because A, it's still a game, and
B do you really want this to be the last
time we see Clayton Kersher who goes and gets racked
around the yard and gives up five more runs and
turns a four to one game into an eight to one.
Laugher gives up two home runs in the inning. Like,
I just thought this was completely done the wrong way

(13:13):
by the Dodgers as they approached the eighth inning with
Kershaw and how it went for him.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
At the end.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
Didn't love it, didn't love it the start to finish,
I would say, from my perspective, You're right, you would
have liked to have seen them make it move a
little quicker. But I'll also say this, the goal of
Kershaw there was to just eat up those outs. And
I understand that it was still close enough where the

(13:39):
whole thing started. But in my view, once you put
him in there, as hard as it is to say,
you were kind of saying, I've got to keep the
game relatively close, but by and large, I'm doing this
to protect Shean and Roky for tomorrow and Glass. Now,
I mean, you're basically just saying, I've got to go

(14:00):
with my guys for tomorrow and try to clinch this
thing in game four at home, and treat game four
as almost like a mini mini winner take all game
and protect your your assets for that game. It's it's
kind of surprising in some way that the Kershaw has
has slipped that far down the pecking order, but based

(14:21):
on the way through tonight and just the lack of strikes,
it's clear that he has. And to your point, now,
I mean, let's let's pause on this for a second
and ask ourselves a question. Even if the Dodgers advanced,
is the way that he pitched in this game is
to suggests that that he might not be deserving of
a roster spot.

Speaker 1 (14:40):
No, I think that, said, Paul, I think this is
the last time we see Clayton Kershaw on him mount.

Speaker 5 (14:45):
And that's and that's to your point, that's pretty it's sad.
It's sad. And again, the other piece of this is
is they probably need to at some point as this
journey goes along, and if you're if you're not gonna
have Kershaw on the roster the subsequent round, Let's say,
if they advance, you start to wonder, Okay, are you

(15:05):
going to be able to create situations to give Tanner
Scott meaningful chances to re earn his place into the
circle of trust or is that not gonna happen until
Glennelle Arizona sometime in February at twenty twenty six. So
that's that's kind of the dilemma they're facing right now.
They have some name brand personnel, but by and large,

(15:28):
it's amazing how one game you go to Philly, you
steal two games and the Phillies players are like questioning
the whole relationship with their fans and everything else, and
then one game and it's all flu right back around
on the Dodgers. So it's just it's a really interesting
dynamic of that. To me, that game tomorrow night is
going to be must see for its TV because you're

(15:50):
gonna have, i think, two desperate teams. The Phillies obvious
reasons they're facing the elimination of their season. But the
second part is the Dodgers, after such an unsightly defeed
in Game three, they're out to prove and realize that
if they let us think it back to Philadelphia, they
might not be able to extend their World Series title

(16:11):
defense beyond the end of this series. So a ton
at stake at Dodger Stadium and Rigally for that.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
Matter, tomorrow, JP, real quick as we do each and
every week, you got the Chiefs and the Lions. Fifty
one and a half, the over under Chiefs minus two.
What do you think the.

Speaker 5 (16:30):
Kansas City Chiefs will prevail in this game or a
twenty eight to twenty I'm just I'm being real here,
I'm looking at it. I gotta find, first of all,
see if it's gonna jive with the schedule. I don't
think it will for me to actually be able to
watch that game on Sunday given where we're at with

(16:50):
the America Lea Championship Series and unless they go early
window with the Alcs to try to avoid going up
right up against the football game. But I tell you
what I think are going to see the Chiefs win
by eight. So I think the Chiefs win, they cover
the spread, and the Lion's left to get their revenge
in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (17:08):
After the new year, He's on Twitter at John MOROSEI
MLB Network insider John Paul is always buddy, appreciating my friend.
Enjoy the rest of the week with games. We'll talk
to you next week.

Speaker 5 (17:18):
That was right, by the way. Even when I don't
pick against the Lions in a backpoor way, pick them
to win the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (17:23):
Yeah, okay, it's a long road, brother, long road.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
He wants to stay friends with everybody in Michigan, of
course by picking the Lions to get revenge in the
Super Bowl.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (17:34):
Speaking of football, Y'll have more baseball on the way,
but straight ahead, the biggest football story of the day

Speaker 2 (19:03):
Air, so we will have more baseball on the way.

Speaker 1 (19:09):
But a big shocking football story today that it's it's
still difficult to wrap my head around it. Bill Belichick
is either going to be fired as North Carolina head coach,
take a buyout from North Carolina, or continue to coach
the team. One of those things is happening following the
bombshell reporter earlier today.

Speaker 2 (19:30):
Now you just have to decide which bucket it goes into.
I mean, those are really kind of what we've been
dealing with. Now, it's just a matter of where the
how big the piece of pie is in each of
those regions.

Speaker 1 (19:42):
So to catch you up on it before we tell
you why how this is going to end and why
none of what happened today is really relevant. A couple
of insiders reported that Bill Belichick and the North Carolina
tar Heels are in conversations about a potential buyout him
leaving the team. A lot of it would depend on
if he can get another gig right away, either with

(20:04):
another team, or if he can get into a media
job again, which he had last year. I think we
can all agree or coaching.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
You and I had agreed that the first part of
that soft landing is scratched out, then just that coaching
thing is done.

Speaker 1 (20:20):
The next game Belichick coaches, or the one from this
past weekend is going to be the last one of
his career.

Speaker 2 (20:24):
They no one's gonna hide. They still do the Beach
Bowl at Super Bowl events. He might be able to
go do that and hang out with Snoop Dogg and stuff.

Speaker 1 (20:33):
So these are the reports earlier today, and there were
more details involved in them, and that there were allegations
that Belichick's been very distant. He was hard to get
a hold of by some coaches during the bye week.
They don't like the fact that Jordan Hudson continues to
be a big presence. She was talking to the a
SEC commissioner on the field before the game last week.

(20:55):
And things haven't been good. There's disharmonying in the locker room.
You were dealing with a potential rules violation situation a
few days ago.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Things are not great. Yeah. Bruce Feldman at the Athletics
saying that armand Hawkins, the cornerbacks coach, has been suspended
for benefits allegations and that you have a number of
players who allegedly sold their tickets that they're allotted.

Speaker 1 (21:22):
I can't believe that people are actually buying the tickets.
The NCAA still I'm selling tickets. I'm not going you
could give me tickets. I'm not going to see North
Carolina get boat raised by Clemson again.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
Do you have any chocolate? I mean it is chocolate
nuts season. Can you give me those instead? So, amid
these reports after today, Belichick and North Carolina administration put
out dual statements Wednesday night. Quote from Belichick, I'm fully
committed to UNC football and the program we're building. Here
from athletics director Bubba Cunningham, Belichick's got the full support

(21:56):
of the UNC administration. Now, this is either someone had
a story and ran with it a little loose with
the facts. This is North Carolina and Bill Belichick.

Speaker 1 (22:06):
They're figuring out the buyout and it's gonna be a
little messy so he's gonna coach.

Speaker 2 (22:09):
A little bit longer. Or it's neither of these things.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
But here's what I'll tell you is what we saw here,
the statement, this report earlier today, It doesn't matter because
all you need to know is what you see with
your eyes, and what we told you in the spring
is what's gonna happen. Belichick is in a one and
done year with North Carolina sometime, but to the best
most accurate thing I could tell you, sometime between now

(22:34):
and the day after the regular season, Bill Belichick will
either be fired or we'll figure out about and walk
away from North Carolina. That is an absolute certainty.

Speaker 5 (22:43):
Then.

Speaker 1 (22:43):
The main reason is because you look at what happened.
There can be losing, you can have a little bit
rough beginning. But when you have such a rough off
season which involved bad publicity, bad optics for the university.
Jordan Hudson Belichick at odds with scouts that want to
come to games and scout and scout his team, then
you have a bad start on the field. And the

(23:04):
worst part is you have now a sense of apathy
from the North Carolina fan base.

Speaker 2 (23:08):
They hate Belichick.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
They all walked out at halftime of the game against
Clemson last week. You see it, It looked like it
was a spring scrimmage at Syracuse the way the fans
they had all left at halftime Saturday against Clemson. But
there's one thing to lose, right but to see progress
to see cohesiveness, to see non competitive football, which is
what you're seeing week after week. And that game against

(23:31):
Clemson was just a joke from the outset. Yeah right,
they do the trick play. Okay, Dabo's face on a
little bit of friendly fire as well, But you have
that seventy five yard play right off the jump, and
there's no response, like, absolutely nothing. And we've watched it
week after week where it's gotten progressively worse. On paper,

(23:53):
with the schedule and with the number of bodies that
you brought in, you'd think there'd be some level of growth,
some level of our we're starting to see things put
together based on what Belichick, his son and this staff
are starting to do. Instead, it's gotten worse. You're a
twelve point dog at Cal.

Speaker 2 (24:12):
Yeah, that's pretty bad. Cal staks. Yeah, you're a twelve
point dog there just lost the two. Get home, they're
up twenty one seven. They just lost like forty eight
twenty one because you've shown no fight. Yeah, week after week. Hell,
that's a game your series used origin a couple of
weeks might win.

Speaker 5 (24:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (24:28):
Hell, okay, boll Eli backup quarterback. I see Bill Belichick
as we bludgeon him. But the latest in a long
line of being bludgeoned.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
He may not make it to then, he may make
it to then, but it doesn't matter because it's clear
he has not cut out for college football. And we
told you this when he started to play that petty
game with the scouts. I'm not putting out a depth chart. Well,
the scouts are here because they're here for the NFL
to look at your kids. You want to do right
by your kids and give them the best opportunity to succeed.
Because if you're at North Carolina and you're a starting player,

(24:59):
hey do you have NFL dreams? Instead, Belichick wanted to
play the whole petty. No, we're reinventing college football and
I can show up and maybe put in seventy five
percent of the work and be successful because I did
all at the pro level. I'm going down a whole
level now and I can do this. But the pettiness
with North Carolina with his players, I'm not going to
put out a depth chart. I'm not going to allow

(25:22):
Patriots personnel to come here to see my players. Why
are you doing that? These are kids that want to
know that you have their back. You're looking out for them.
Clearly Belichick is not looking out for his kids, and
I feel bad for them because, Wow, they're in an
awful situation right now. So I knew Belichick is not
cut out for college football. That's when I knew he'd
rather play these petty games. He's halfway in. He's the
only coaching job he was gonna get, so he's here.

(25:44):
Maybe I'll catch lightning in a bottle, but it doesn't matter.
This has been such a fail from the beginning when
he got hired until now. I mean sometime between tomorrow
and the day after the season ends, Belichick is out.
The one and done is absolutely happening. We totally is
gonna happen in summer, and it's gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (26:01):
Now.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
I understand trying to pull the there's no I in
team uh internally right and saying, hey, we we need
to be a cohesive unit and this is a building
block season. But when it comes to the scouts, when
it comes to the outside world, when it comes to
embracing that you're at the University of North Carolina, those
are all things externally you still need to buy into. Right,

(26:24):
the report this week that they wanted nothing put out
about the the effort Drake Mayhead in beating the Bills.
Huge win for the Patriots, Huge win for a guy
who was a member of the North Carolina Tar Heels
football team. Most people don't even know that you fuck
at this point, like there's such a all right, they're
not a football school. No, No, they've they've actually put out

(26:46):
a couple of quarterbacks last couple of years.

Speaker 1 (26:48):
Sam Howell came out of Howell came out, Trubisky came out.

Speaker 2 (26:51):
Like, you've had a couple of quarterbacks who've gone on
to some level of success, right, Trubisky for all of
his awards, some level you'll got you that you off
level of success two overall pick Now, you're good. You
didn't need to qualified, quantified. But out of North Carolina,
so you would trumpet those right are North Carolina. Nope,

(27:13):
according to the reports, no mention of it on socials.
Don't do anything with it. That because it's a Patriots win.
You got to get past that, like you got to
be selling, always be closing.

Speaker 1 (27:24):
He's not, he's not ready. He would have been an
okay college coach years ago. But he thought I can
come in again, I can come in, put in seventy
percent of the effort, and we can do it instead. No,
Nick Saban, who's his best friend, should have said, dude,
I got out because I can't do this anymore. It's
guys like Fran Brown who jump in and Kaylin de Borer. Yes,
this is the this is the new era of college football.

(27:45):
And I am in tirelessly recruiting, getting ani on money,
flipping guys. This is how it works. And Belichick thought, uh,
I can just kind of go in and do this.
We can reinvent college football because boy, the knowledge I'm bringing,
including nutrition, I'll still remember that from the press commers.

Speaker 2 (28:00):
Nutrition.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
Oh, yes, they're all gonna eat so much better because
they're all college kids. Yes, they're all gonna eat so healthy.
Like all of that, I knew he was not equipped
for college football. And now the saddest part is gonna
be if you had a mount Rushmore of embarrassing endings.
Let's say it about more embarrassing endings, right, the mount
Rushmore would be Joe Namath as a ram, Willie Mays

(28:22):
as a met okay Emmett Smith as a cardinal, and
Belichick and Carolina Blue and White and Griffy as a
white Side.

Speaker 2 (28:29):
That's hey, he was hall of people.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Just forget that happened. No one forgets about these guys.
Any there's your there's your mount rushmore of failing and
embarrassing endings to careers, Willie Mays, Mets, Joe Namath Rams
again both to New York teams, Uh, Emmitt Smith, Cardinals,
Bill Belichick and Carolina Blue. That's it right there, united
at the end.

Speaker 2 (28:52):
Yeah, you don't remember, you got you know, come on, man,
you gotta go deep, guys.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
I gotta explained to the greatest generation who you know
who Johnny and I.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
The Willie Mays Mets thing is is always just because
you have a nineteen seventy three tops card where the
guy looks like he's been through it. Yeah, like and
then you watched it on the field. But and you've
heard it for so long you understand that. But that's
how bad with Belichick here, it was the could you
do the CEO thing to where you just go coach
and Lombardi and whatever levels of management do the handshakes

(29:23):
and baby kissing and all that stuff, and clearly that
has it worked right and you didn't. You turned over
the roster and there was some level of excitement that
you would build, but there's no level of progress that's seen.
And now you've got a bunch like the NCAA doesn't
want to investigate anything. They have no power, but they're
still coming after you now allegedly based on these reports

(29:46):
of players selling tickets and your quarterbacks coach doing whatever
in terms of illegal benefits. So that followed you in
year one. There was no level of grace like and
there and even if you're gonna now be accused of improprieties, like,
there's nothing on the field to say it was worth it,

(30:07):
because you're getting shell acted week after week like there
there's nothing to this. It's it's an absolute mess.

Speaker 1 (30:14):
He again, So it could be tomorrow, he may coach
another couple of weeks. I don't know, but between some
of that's the best thing I can say. And that's
and that's really accurate. Now day after the season's over,
he's out at North Carolina.

Speaker 2 (30:26):
Anybody got any heart tickets for any of these games?

Speaker 1 (30:29):
Get rid of just how selfish he's been throughout this
entire process, right, Like, I feel I feel bad the boy.

Speaker 2 (30:36):
This guy, this.

Speaker 1 (30:36):
Amazing career, and he's gonna be like the Carolina year
is such a failure, it's gonna define him. But you
know what, I'm sorry, but he's been pretty selfish through
this entire process with North Carolina and how he has
acted in the pettiness he has gone through. So I
feel bad for the kids. I feel bad for the
program who said, hey, let's take a big swing and
go get Bill belichickhim in. Hey, it's it's great for

(30:57):
us and maybe great for recruiting. We got to do
something bold. And he's come in and kind of run
the program. And you've heard reports about that. How he's
run the program. It's it's nothing has been good. There's
been no excitement, there's nothing. There's nothing like he's come
in and been incredibly selfish. You would have taught process.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
You would have thought there would have been a lesson
learned the way the last couple of years went with
the Patriots and what a disaster that was, and especially
as you look around and guys that were absolutely devastated
in those final couple of years by bad hiring and
coaching decisions go on to thrive. Look at mag Jones
and what he's done in a couple of starts with

(31:34):
the forty nine is like you helped potentially torpedo his
career with what you did, as well as so many
others that you would have learned a lesson and then
come in maybe with brighter eyes and a new lease
on life with the guitar heels. And it's just been
a disaster from day one, and now all the TV

(31:57):
show we were going to get got shuttered again. What's
all that footage? Can we find a benefactor to at
least pay out so those kids get some money out
of what they dealt with over the last two months,
like Scott's tots, and then we get to watch it.
We at least get to see.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
It exit off out of Fresco, exit Swollen Dome. Jason Smith,
Mike Carbon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. All
of this, the end is coming for Belichick and it's
here ty not to find out what's trending in the
wide world of sports from Monsey Milanios Monsie, what do
you got for us?

Speaker 8 (32:28):
Hey, mister Scott? What you how does it go? That
is one of the worst episodes to.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Nobody wants to rewatch.

Speaker 9 (32:34):
Nobody watched uncomfortable with Scott's tops because you.

Speaker 2 (32:37):
Know, this is awful what you're gonna do.

Speaker 9 (32:41):
It's so uncomfortable, but you cannot not watch it if
it comes on.

Speaker 8 (32:45):
Oh, it's so terrible. Also terrible that the Dodgers lost,
But here we are.

Speaker 9 (32:49):
Phillies crushed the Dodgers in l A eight to two
to force a game for tomorrow that's gonna start at
six oh eight Eastern Time.

Speaker 8 (32:57):
Called Schwarber homer twice in this one.

Speaker 9 (32:59):
The Cubs also kept their season alive with the four
to three win over the Brewers. They scored They scored
all of their runs in the first inning. Game four
is also tomorrow. Blue Jays are headed to the Alcs
for the first time since twenty sixteen. After defeating the
Yankees five to two in Game four. Toronto outscored New
York thirty four to nineteen in this series, and there's

(33:20):
going to be a Game five between the Tigers and
the Mariners on Friday in Seattle.

Speaker 8 (33:24):
Detroit forced it today winning nine to three.

Speaker 9 (33:27):
We still got some hockey going on the Flames and
the Oilers are tied at three apiece late in the
third quarter, and the Golden Knights have added another run,
so now they're on top of the Kings five to three.

Speaker 8 (33:39):
Another un run, So sorry, another goal I.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
Know saw in such Dodger mode right now, you're in
such Dodger mode. The Phillies were pouring it on. There
was another run for the Phillies. They just scored again.
The game ended, but they scored again.

Speaker 8 (33:51):
Thank you for catching that. Golden Knights scored another goal.

Speaker 9 (33:55):
They're up five to three on the Kings halfway through
the third period. In the NFL, Raiders tight end Brock
Bauers didn't practice.

Speaker 8 (34:03):
Today because of his knee injury.

Speaker 9 (34:05):
Neither did Raven's quarterback Lamar Jackson because of his hamstring injury.
Kyler Murray, quarterback of the Cardinals, also didn't practice day
because of his foot injury and he's considered day to day.
The Jaguars are trading cornerback Tyson Campbell and a seventh
round pick to the Browns in exchange for cornerback Greg
Newsom and a sixth round pick.

Speaker 8 (34:23):
Also the nc DOUBLEA. They decided sorry.

Speaker 9 (34:27):
The NCUBA approved a single January transfer window in college football.

Speaker 8 (34:31):
So this is going to allow you know, players and.

Speaker 9 (34:33):
Coaches to focus on postseason games and players will remain
eligible before entering the portal.

Speaker 8 (34:40):
Back to you, again, thank you very much.

Speaker 2 (34:44):
So awkward coming up next.

Speaker 1 (34:46):
I don't know what you're gonna flip over more what
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said to his team following
the elimination of the Yankees, Or what Aaron Boone said
when he was asked about his job situation. Oh boy,
that's next, right here, Jason Mike, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (35:11):
The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
So I told you earlier this hour Mike and I disagree,
and I said, boy, they're trolling the Blue Jays are
doing of the Yankees a little bit over the top,
maybe a little bit much for a series. It didn't
seem like it was that personal. They're playing New York,
New York in the clubhouse as they party, kind of cool.
Then Vlad Junior goes on Fox Sports one and does

(35:33):
the dull Yankees lose the whole big John Sterling thing.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
He and David Ortiz have some fun. Okay, now, glad
he's been around long enough to where he's had to
wear it a bunch. But now right, I mean, yeah,
he's not like in second year, third year. I mean
he's got some skin in in the game.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
But now you have John Schneider, the Blue Jays manager,
thanking his team, saying, thanks to all you mother Blanker's
bullpen game. Start aren't spreading the news, We're going to
the ALCS any pop chimpagne.

Speaker 2 (36:04):
They all started spread the news.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
B word, boy, you can tell them, you can tell
the the Yankees living rent free in the Blue Jays
head shot a long time. This is, like I said,
it's a little weird and over the top. This trolling
for a series that didn't seem like it was personal,
I mean obviously being division rivals. Yeah, I get it,
but wow, we're doing the music, We're going on national TV.

(36:29):
We're saying, start spreading the news, blinkers, We're going to
the a LC. Yes, yeah, I think that's a little
over the top of the trolling. Interesting and fun, I think, no,
But look, it's it's the playoffs to where we've we've
really adopted the full on find your wins mentality, something
I've I've tried to espouse.

Speaker 2 (36:51):
Uh need to be better in practice, uh than I
am Uh, but in spirit, it's there is that little thing,
and when you have the opportunity to celebrate, you do.
And certainly in Major League Baseball, I know a lot
of folks have had issue with winning a wild card
and busting out the champagne. Well, you don't know if

(37:12):
you're going to get to do it again in the
next round. And assuming that you do great, you celebrate
that round, and then you celebrate the next round. In
this case, it's the big, big bad Yankees that every
year you have to hear about how great they are. Ye.
And if you've been around the organization a while, right,
Schneider's been there as a bench coach or manager since

(37:34):
twenty nineteen, it's a number of years where you've been
the also ran. So when you finally get over on
their field, yeah, celebrate. Let's let it out. There is
a lot. That's a lot, man, that's a lot of trolling. Yeah,
but it's a matter of a couple of minutes of time.
It's a lot of trolling in a very condensed space. Now,

(37:58):
if you carry this for another couple days and you're
still yelling blank the Yankees when you're onto the next round,
then yeah, something's wrong. But in the moment in this evening,
let him wear it.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
Not the only bit of postgame interesting things being said
in locker rooms, because Aaron Boone was asked about his
job status foldal, he's lost and now Aaron Boone obviously, hey,
is he finally going to be let go?

Speaker 2 (38:25):
He's going to continue on.

Speaker 1 (38:26):
But here's Aaron Boone giving a very straight, specific answer
about his job status for next season.

Speaker 7 (38:33):
Aaron, I'm sorry on it, but it becomes a subject
every year.

Speaker 2 (38:36):
Do you have any reason to think you won't be
back managing the team next year? No, I'm under contract,
So no, I don't expect anything now I'm under contract.
Oh right, that means you're definitely coming back years coming back.
I mean he signed a three year, fifteen million dollar
extension in February. Because they never buy anybody out. No, no, no,

(38:59):
no, no no. But I mean, what else is he gonna say?
I mean, unless he's been informed that he's been fired.
If nothing else, there would be a buyout. The way
he just says, I'm under contract. Yeah, it's not even
enough to him. It's not even up to hell Stambrighter.
It's up to Aaron Judge Aaron Judge wants to coach
to be it's.

Speaker 5 (39:17):
Gonna be.

Speaker 1 (39:18):
And I just want to say this. We talked to
John Paul Morosi last out earlier this hour in the show.
He said, look that the Yankees' problems go deeper than
Aaron Judge's coaching staff. And I get that. I understand that. However,
when the narrative is lazy Yankees' little league Yankees because
they continue to make bad mistakes, and they made them
all throughout the game tonight, guess who's gonna wind up

(39:40):
paying the price for that. It's gonna be new leadership.

Speaker 2 (39:43):
And yeah, you're the fall guy when fundamentals are the
summary statement of your squad.

Speaker 1 (39:48):
I know that I've fired Aaron Boone like three times
already this season, but I think that this is gonna
be the one that sticks, because someone's gonna have.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
To wear that.

Speaker 1 (39:56):
We went from the World Series to knocked out in
the Alds. At least they made the playoffs stop. We
should have fired our guy too. Okay, it's not my fault, but.

Speaker 2 (40:05):
He's coming back. But what what that was that they
fire the rest of the staff when he comes back.

Speaker 1 (40:12):
I know it's just but we're talking about playoff teams.
Playoff teams. Uh yeah, I think that's enough for Aaron
Boon to Okay, it's time for something else to happen.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
No, that's and that's just it, And whether Cashman wears
it too it remains to be seen, because he certainly
put together an imperfect roster.

Speaker 1 (40:30):
Coming up next was tonight, the last time we ever
see a future Hall of Famer play Jason and Mike
