Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome inside our three, The Jalen Brunson Show with
my bes friend Dante DiVincenzo.
Speaker 3 (00:35):
Well dressed Hobo.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
We're live from the tirack dot Com studios tyrec dot com.
I hope you get there. An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping,
free roadhazard protection, and over ten thousand recommended in stallers
tyrack dot com the way tire buying should be. Yes,
the only first round series and anybody's paying attention to
the only one that matters well After this, Nuggets beat
the Lakers. The Knicks out last the Sixers one eighteen
(01:02):
one fifteen in a series that I feel like was
was worth the energy of like four postseason series, like
like the finals should be over right now. With the
level of energy and effort that not only I put in,
you really did work hard on, no question about it. Yeah,
but yeah, but the players worked hard to I mean,
I don't want to say they were. I mean, look
(01:23):
you look you got, you got Devincenzo, Hart and Brunson
playing forty eight, forty six and ten minutes. I mean,
it's I left it all out there, there's no question about.
It's everything you ever hoped for. It's an unbelievable run,
a huge first round series. It felt like more than
a first round series. And the Knicks win it in
six one, eighteen one, fifteen, and the Sixers go home.
We'll get to them in a second, but look, the
(01:45):
Knicks now go on and they host the Indiana Pacers,
and the Pacers are a team that, quite honestly, the
Knicks should be. And when I told you the beginning of
the all year, the Knicks are going to the finals,
I mean, it feels like now that a Knicks Celtics
Eastern Conference Finals is a fat accomplix. But here's we're
not gonna happen. But here's the Indiana winning five. But
(02:06):
it feels like that Nick Celtics is like it's it's
it's already, it's in the cards. It's gonna happen about
we got Maxi Brunson, now we get Halliburton Bruns and
then we can get Jalen Brown and Jason Tatum Brunson.
I mean, it's it's good for everybody if that's the
way it works out. Now, how much of that was
analysis and a stute observation versus go New York Go,
New York Go. Guy that was captured so brilliantly at
(02:28):
Fox Sports Radio and turned around so fast I had
to tag myself in. There's a there's a video that's
up on Twitter. Yeah, and if you go Fox Sports
Radio on Twitter. Also, how about a Fresco swollendum, there's
video of our show. The second the final three by
Buddy Healed was way off as a desperation. No, he
(02:50):
had plenty of time to set to. He just turned
and fired like half yeah, well we'll go.
Speaker 4 (02:56):
We'll get to that. It's bad, but yeah, but the final.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
Shot you see the reaction and it's me screaming and
yelling go New York, Go, New York go, and you can.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
See it a little bit of life leave.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
I feel really good for you, though, Buddy, because again
you know, I talk about, you know, the highs and
lows that you go through on a day, and I
gotta be honest, a little bit earlier I was having
one of those you know, kind of down things where
like I needed a pick me up, And while I
didn't get it because you won and my team is out,
I felt.
Speaker 4 (03:24):
Good for man. You were letting the playing round. You
like to make the play.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
But you know, I'm getting mocked because you know, the
Twins have this massive winning streak, most of it at
the hands of my beloved White Sox. Yeah, Bear season
is a long way away, and there's way too many
people climbing on that bad wagon, so you know that's
gonna be overweighted and sink. So you got all of
that flowing. So for this moment, all that anticipation for you,
(03:50):
I felt good for you. A little disappointed that, you know,
down the stretch there didn't seem any level of consistency
with how Nick Nurse was trying to run his sixers squad.
Speaker 4 (04:00):
But that's a whole other.
Speaker 1 (04:02):
Waiting for Scott Foster to really show up in the seconds, No, Scot,
the Knicks rabel and neutralized. Scott's played as much of
a role as Grimes.
Speaker 4 (04:09):
Did in this game.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
I mean, if you had, if you had referee stats
and they and you and you turn them into basketball stats,
would would he be like, uh, Matt Maxi's night of
like six out of eighteen from the floor. Like if
if you said, okay, the referee stats as a player,
Oh yeah, Scott Foster is like six out of eighteen.
He didn't get this to game seven. You're a man
of no consequence.
Speaker 4 (04:27):
You didn't get this. You let everybody down though.
Speaker 1 (04:29):
I mean I didn't see, you know, the pre and
post line, but I gotta imagine the announcement in his
photo going out of Hey, he's the guy for game six.
Probably moved the betting line a little bit, you know,
assume a little bit there.
Speaker 4 (04:43):
I mean, look, I look, I I I told you I.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Firmly expected the Knicks to lose this game coming off
the game five. I expected, especially when I saw Scott
Foster officiating the game, watching the extender get at it.
You know what home team's records are with Scott Foster.
Speaker 4 (04:57):
Careful when you.
Speaker 1 (04:58):
Just randomly throw out the the stender. Let's put that
you can, okay, the NBA extender that the NBA. Okay,
but they call okay, it's neck extended.
Speaker 4 (05:09):
What do you watch me?
Speaker 1 (05:11):
But again, I go back to what I said a
few minutes ago, is that everybody expects their team to
quite honestly, play like the Knicks, to fight tooth and
nail every possession and not give you an inch and
never quit and never give up. And that's just not
the case. But but you never know, no but that,
(05:34):
but that's going That's just the way the Knicks play.
We fingernails for that inch because we had up all
the inches. That's the blanking difference between winning and losing.
Speaker 4 (05:46):
Between the next and the sexes. Everyone that loved me.
Speaker 1 (05:52):
I uh, I gave away all my money, believe it
or not, and for best picture, and I chased away
everybody that Deevil loved me.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
Oh we're doing this now, coach.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Okay, great, but the Knicks go on again, good luck, welcome, welcome,
Madison Square Garden, Monday night, Indiana. But for the Sixers,
you know they're on May never again less for a reason, right,
because I can't keep going forward thinking the Sixers are
going to win. I can't do it because they always
find a way to fall short and you saw mentally
(06:22):
in this series where they got out of it. They
wanted to blame the referees. They had the big comeback,
That had the big comeback tonight. What you've seen from
Philadelphia in the last I don't want to say the
last week, but a little bit more than that, since
Embiid came back at the end of the year with
on one leg, because clearly it wasn't the same Joel Embiid.
Speaker 4 (06:39):
Sure you have seen a Sixers team where even.
Speaker 1 (06:42):
Though they go out here in the first round, I
look at them and say, Okay, they're really not far away.
Because you have found that Maxi is that second guy.
He had a tough night tonight. The Knicks were able
to neutralize him tonight, but you had Buddy Heal pick
things up from off the bench with twenty points, hitting
six threes, but two mid threes. Kelly Ubre is starting
(07:04):
to score a little bit more. He had seven threes tonight.
The Sixers are not that far away. So the biggest
thing for the Sixers to me was always if they
lose in the playoffs, is this where Joel Embiid stands
up and says, can't do it. I gotta go someplace
else because clearly it's not working for me here in Philadelphia.
Speaker 4 (07:22):
I can't do it.
Speaker 1 (07:23):
But if you watch this Sixers team again, this series
could have went either way. It was extremely close. If
I'm Embiid, I mean quite honestly, I sit here and say, okay,
Maxi's the number two. Now he's the clear number two
on this team. I got the shooter, the guy I need.
You have other nice pieces to bias Harris, Kelly, Ubrey,
Buddy Healed if he can play like this off the bench.
But still, I say, if I'm philadelph if I'm Joel Embiid,
(07:46):
I think, once again, hey maybe we're a piece short,
rather than me saying hey, I'm gonna go to a
different team and try to assimilate myself like I need
to go to the Knicks or the.
Speaker 4 (07:56):
Lakers or wherever it is.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
If I'm Embiid, I think that are about staying because
of what I saw out of the Sixers that I
think about leaving, because that's alway. That's look giannest Is
gonna be thinking that in a year, another big exit
for the Bucks in the first round. But but if
I'm Embiid, I think, okay, it took a long time
to get here right. We did three inventions in this
team to try to get it right. But I feel
like they finally got it right. And if Embiid stays
(08:19):
help Look, you know, if embiad says health, he's always
a big question. But still they're not The Embiid would
be further away from a title if he went someplace
else than if he stayed, because Philadelphia is that close.
They just need they need another piece, a piece or
two to add because you can see that they have
depth and they need to. You see, they have the
second guy in Maxie who's become a star this year. Look,
(08:41):
we said early in the season Maxi's that guy. He
showed he's that guy. But you need some time figure
out the game. They work well together. You know, Maxi
had a tough night shooting tonight, okay, but he carried
them into the game six. We made a bunch of
big shots in the fourth invisible early, only two points
at the half, but still, you know, came up with
some big down the stretch. But to your point, where
(09:02):
are you gonna go where the situation is gonna be
better for you unless you're just looking to jump and
ride coat tails, thinking you're going on, you know, a
happy life there. I say, yeah, I'll go I'll go
to the Knicks.
Speaker 4 (09:12):
Yeah, I knew you were gonna go straight.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
But the point is in the East, right, you got
the Celtics, which what what were they twelve games better
or thirteen games better or whatever whatever it was of
the Knicks and the fading Bucks. When you got to
the end of the season, and while Indiana has a
lot of excitement with Halliburton and what they're becoming, you
look at the rest of the East. There's there's still
a gap. Right, There's still a lot to be determined
(09:40):
as to which of these teams are truly gonna rise
going into the next year. Where's the West. It's a mess,
like there's like that shut off. Yeah, you don't go
not even looking at the West. I mean, look, we
told you that the playoffs are murdering the West, and
they are. If you stay, if you if he stays
with the Sixers, he's got a better chance because again
they're not you know what they need. They need other
(10:00):
guard that could come in and take the pressure off
the shot making guard. Because clearly Kyle Lowry's at the
end and it's a little bit too much to say, hey,
Maxi's not that point guard where hey, I can control
the ball for the entire time every time up the
court and be able to score thirty thirty five a game.
If they could get another shot maker, another guard, then
(10:20):
suddenly Philly is really in business. But you got a
lot of these veterans that have been rumored for years, right,
whether it's Trey Young in Phoenix, do they blow it up?
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Right?
Speaker 1 (10:31):
Is suddenly for the if the price is right, Devin
Booker's available?
Speaker 4 (10:35):
Maybe maybe not. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (10:37):
Do you go and you add you know, the slim
Reaper at the end of his run, to say, hey
we bring him in for a year and make him
a guy that is out and we just need him
for scoring purposes. I don't know, Like, there's there's so
many parts to this. And then certainly the West, you know,
there's so many teams that they're also looking for that
(11:02):
that extra piece to try to see if they can't
climb to the top. But you're facing a lot of
young squads, right, you're ten to eleven deep. Look at
what New Orleans did. I don't know what Zion Williams
is going to be if he's gonna be able to
play another seventy games next year. But you've got to
even that's how deep this was, right the Lakers with
their run and then saw a bunch of the breakdowns
(11:25):
as well, and this stretch and that stretch.
Speaker 4 (11:27):
Yeah we can.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
We can do that with stats and games played all
we want. It's like, can you rely on guys being
healthy in the they just need a guy who can
guard you Maul Murray? Well, that's sure, well, or don't
send Austin Reeves to go do it. But the for
the for the Eastern Conference, yes, right now it's the
Celtics and everybody else. And even then they may blow
it up, right if they lose it in the next round.
(11:49):
Isn't that what everybody wanted after last season? Well, these
guys can't play together.
Speaker 4 (11:53):
They can't win.
Speaker 1 (11:55):
Exit out bout a Fresco exit swolling down the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Uh Now,
let's hear from Nick Nurse and I'm gonna, I'm gonna.
I'm gonna give you a chance you could pick either
side for a dollar. Okay, Okay, Nick Nurse is gonna
We're gonna hear. We're gonna hear from Nick Nurse.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
Is Nick Nurse complimentary of the Knicks or upset about
the officiating in the game? What is Nick Nurse? He's
one of the two you're gonna hear from right now.
Is he complimentary of the Knicks or is he upset
at the officiating? I'm gonna say he's complimentary, and hope
I'm wrong. Ah, look at you, buddy, look at you.
Think of the best of people.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Let doesn't happen often. I'm having a good day. Let's
hear Nick Nurse not happy with the officiating. I guess
you know.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
I'm a little disappointed that he didn't that he didn't
get in there a little bit. Again, I don't understand
why every time he goes in there that they just
never it's meant, but it's kind of been that way, alright.
He goes in there and gets gets sent to the
floor time and time and time again. And I mean
he shot four free throws one, one and one and one.
(13:00):
They followed him in the back court. I mean, I
just I don't understand it. Right, So again, it's tough
for him to go in there. Like we've talked about
that before when when he gets in those situations that
he's got to go to something else, right, You just
can't keep going in there getting knocked down and just
realize they're never gonna call it. You gotta you got Okay,
I gotta adjust the game a little bit and go
to the slam on the brakes, the baseline, fall away,
(13:22):
the whatever it is that we need to improve on
for next season.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
So disguised in a hey, here's advice for Tyrese MAXI is.
I'm upset with the officiating.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
Okay, let me just say I.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
Mean, I'm not going to disagree with him because he
didn't get knocked on his ass quite a few times,
run and got knocked out. Guys get knocked down. But
let me just say this, at this point, you gotta
get up again.
Speaker 4 (13:44):
L Take the L. Take the L you lost. Take
the L.
Speaker 1 (13:47):
You're upset about the officiating. In Game three, you got
to break for the officiating. The last game you're upset
about the officiating. Now take the L you lost. Have
some class.
Speaker 4 (13:56):
Take the L. You lost.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
The series, you lost in six games. You lost, Take
the take the take the LA.
Speaker 4 (14:01):
Have some class.
Speaker 1 (14:02):
Don't sit here and look like I'm just gonna complain
about the officiating all the time. I told you last night, Hey,
when the two minute report came out for Game five,
Hey it happened. Yeah, you brought it up in your
the Nick iding Nick Nurse right there, the Knicks had
chances to win. I'm not gonna sit here and say, oh,
look at the calls that were made against them, Nick Nurse,
take the L, man, take the L. Take the lu
(14:22):
coming up, well, you know, take the loss just because
you want take the L.
Speaker 4 (14:28):

Are the Knicks going to the finals? The man to

Ball Rock with Fox Fox Sports One Insider Extraordinary hosts
(16:16):
of the On the Ball Podcast.
Speaker 4 (16:18):
He's on Twitter at Rick Buker. It is Rick Buker.
Rick Go New York, Go New York. Go your thoughts.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
Yeah, the word insufferable keeps coming to mind. I don't
know why. I just I don't know why. In fact,
producer said, hey, can you do something? I said, no,
I can't do anything?
Speaker 2 (16:38):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (16:40):
Like, I can't do anything. I can't slow Jason's role
right now. You're asking me impossible, that's like asking That's
like asking the Philadelphia seventy six ers to find a
way to stop Jalen brunts it. It can't be done.
Speaker 4 (16:53):
Help me, Obi wan Kenobi? You know serious?
Speaker 1 (16:56):
You know seriously, though, Rick, The thing is is that
outside a loud mouse like me. In the Go New
York and New York Go, we talked about this, the
NIXT style of play, which is always is reniscent of
their hard work, blue collar in the nineties. You see,
you have to take the game and grab it from
their hands, and they will take it to the grave
to try to beat you.
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Like.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
That's a style that cuts through for any fan across
the country. And it's a shame that loud mouth fans
like me kind of take away from it because of
the Go New York Go, New York Go. But really
their style of play is something that that fans can
really embrace because not every team plays like this. You'd
want every team to play like this, but they don't.
Speaker 3 (17:34):
Yeah, no, agreed. It's it's their grittiness and their resilience,
and they're just their willingness to play hard all the
time and and sort of that underdog I mean, yous
look lets like six two, you know, two hundred pounds
Jalen Brunson, who it still is a marvel to me
(17:56):
that he's able to get to the places that he
does on the floor and he's able to get a
shot off against dixtate six nine defenders with a looming
Joel mb so. Uh yeah, no, it is uh, it
is an easy team to root for. I will say that, uh,
you know, going into this game, when we talked about
(18:16):
it on on on Speak today and that at the
end where they're asking, I think they said, well, will
Joel Embid bring it home or something like that, and
I said, you know what, that's a really weird way
to spell Jalen Brunson, because this is what I expected.
And then the game starts and they come out with
(18:37):
the big lead and they give it all back. And
the one thing that concerns me about them is so
piv is resent, is relentless and saying this is what
we're going to do and this is how we're going
to do it, and to your point, like and they
just they're they're they're a bulldog that's got the bone
(18:58):
in its teeth and or the chew toy, and it's
not going to let go. And sometimes that can backfire
on you in terms of there's just times where and
I thought it happened in the previous game where Tids
has got to make an adjustment, like you got you
have to do something a little bit different, and ultimately
(19:22):
Philadelphia just couldn't execute well enough. You know, I think
mcnurse got as much as he could out of a
obviously an impaired Joel Embiid. And I thought DoD byd
Vincenzo the job that he did on Tyrese Maxe the
entire game, forcing sort of shadowing him left, and so
(19:47):
you know, Tyres is so good. He was able to
get back to his right, but he would get to
it like in difficult from difficult angles, he couldn't get
there quickly enough. And I just thought with the shot
making and the defense, and then obviously Josh Hart hitting
the huge, huge three at the end when it was like,
(20:10):
well we're not going to jaling within this. Josh, you
want to take a stab at it, we'll we'll let
you shoot that three, and he did, and and I
just so, and this is how it's going to go.
Like Dalen's probably going to give you what he's going
to give you, but how much farther they go is
really going to depend on these these contributing pieces and
(20:36):
what you're getting out of your out of your bench.
I thought Mitchell Robinson was really good defensively, and and
you're like, you can't just take those things for granted.
You're going to have to get those on a nightly
basis in order to get where I think that they
it's gonna be a contrast and styles of this next round.
(20:59):
But I think I told you guys, I had to
nick in the in the conference finals as a and
as a star horse to make it to the finals.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
Well, two things.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
Number One, thanks for coming around to me, Rick, I
just want to say that. Number one, thanks coming around
to that. Yeah, I've been telling you that since the
since they got Andunobi, I've been telling you how good
we are.
Speaker 3 (21:21):
You've been telling me that for the last six years.
Speaker 4 (21:24):
That's true too.
Speaker 1 (21:25):
That's true too.
Speaker 3 (21:25):
Okay, I mean eventually it's gonna happen. Right somewhere.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
I was going full on Reenland in the years you've
been telling me you're a genius since you were seventeen.
In all these years i've known you, I don't know
what you mean. I want to see Tims with the
strategy of just playing five. We're just suiting five. This
is my team out here. But the postgame, Nick Nurse close,
he really did. Right when Robinson comes walking in with
(21:55):
that giant bandage on his leg and everything.
Speaker 2 (21:58):
It's like, here we go.
Speaker 1 (21:59):
But Nick Nurse made it a point to lament the
officiating and kind of wagging his finger at Scott Foster
and crew for those tirees, those Maxie drives down the
lane and not being able to get to the fou line.
Only four free throw attempts tonight, I mean a number
of them. Rick, It kind of looked like he was
(22:20):
anticipating the contact, like he was taking a bump in
a w W E ring.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
So you're not going to get the call.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
But overall, the fact that Nurse went back to the referee,
well after being vanquished from a series, you know, it's
a questionable move.
Speaker 3 (22:35):
Yeah, I mean, especially because I'd go the other way,
and you know, did Maxie Where there are a couple
of calls where you could have called contact, sure, I thought,
but I thought MB got a number of calls and
I was like, really, that's what we're calling Bill Kennedy. Really,
(22:56):
I mean he initiated the contact. It was a little
bit of bump, but is had enough in this game
to send the guy to the free throw line. So,
you know, I look at the numbers. Overall, they shot
twenty three free throws. The Nick shot twenty four. Daleen
I thought was really clever and and getting guys on
(23:18):
his hip and then going straight up and they were
crowding in from behind, and he deserved, he deserved to
go to the line. So I think overall, I don't
know it. I can't with all the officiating, some of
the officiating that I've seen, this was not, by any
(23:40):
means a game that I felt like the referees were
were too too much part of it. They were they
were too visible in in the ultimate outcome. And I
think maybe some of this is that Nick was still
thinking about some of the previous games where it's again,
(24:01):
you know, we talked about it the game that they
they gave away, and I'll and again I mean even there,
like you could look at the two minute reports said
that they missed some calls, but I think we outlined
like there was five things that the Philadelphia seventy six
ers could have done different in order to still win
that game. So I have a lot of respect for Nick.
(24:23):
I think he's a great coach, but I think he's
I think he's harping on the wrong thing here. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
Look, I mean you saw the two minute report come
out for the last game they missed calls against the
seventy six ers, and then to see him talk here,
I'm like, you know what, just take the L. Take
because now you just seem like a guy that all
you do is complain about the officiating, the entire players.
You know what you lost, lost in six games.
Speaker 4 (24:45):
Take the L.
Speaker 1 (24:45):
But you know that's not the way they went.
Speaker 3 (24:48):
Yeah, No, I can't argue with that. It's not I
don't think it's a great it's not a great look
for a guy that I think is a very good coach.
Speaker 1 (24:57):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon
Live from the Tire dot Com Studios. Rick Bucker with
us here.
Speaker 4 (25:02):
All right, So so Rick, you know it.
Speaker 1 (25:03):
Pains me, but we do have other NBA news to
get you away from the nick look, we watched the
Bucks go out in the first round, and Doc Rivers
again gave a lot of excuses to why they didn't win. Uh,
they were just not good when he took over. Yes,
they weren't healthy, but you know what, lots of teams
aren't healthy. What do you take away what the Bucks
need to do in this offseason coming off of what
(25:26):
you saw now getting eliminated in the first round for
the second straight year.
Speaker 3 (25:29):
It's funny because I almost feel as if, you know,
we've talked about the Phoenic Suns and they're terrible position,
and I and I actually don't think they're in that
terrible position. I think they have to make some changes.
I think the Bucks in a way are in a
worse position than the Phoenix Suns. You certainly have Giannasota Tacompo,
(25:51):
who if you're asking, you know the the incumbent superstar
or incumbent star that I would say Yannis is a superstar,
I would say, and Booker as a star. So Milwaukee
hasn't advantage there. I think those guys are basically at
the same point in their careers. But after that, like
(26:12):
you know what, I can still get a lot for
Kevin Durant. I don't know what I can get for
Damian Liller at this stage. Bobby Portius, I don't know
how much he would bring me Brook Lopez. I mean,
they have Chris Middleton. Chris Middleton feels a lot like
Bradley Beal to me, like the contract is way way
(26:32):
bigger than what I can expect that guy to produce
at this point. And so look, I think they came
into the season as the oldest team in the league,
if not certainly one of the oldest, and also cap strapped,
and so I don't honestly, I don't know where they
(26:53):
go with this team.
Speaker 2 (26:56):
I didn't and.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
I'm sure I said it to you guys, like I
never believed in the Lillard Yannis pairing from the beginning,
and the only the only out that I could see is,
you know, you make a call to Miami. You guys
still interested. You didn't get him the first time, Maybe
we can make something happen. That's that's the route that
I would go. But I don't know that if Milwaukee
(27:20):
is thinking, you know what, we weren't healthy and we
just need to bring it back. Defensively, they were so
vastly compromised, particularly on the wing. They need to get
way more athletic. After Yannist the athleticism falls off dramatically.
They need to make some significant changes. It's going to
be a tough summer. The one thing, and I'm sure
(27:41):
that we've talked about it, The one thing I do
not want to hear, is well, you know Janni's probably
he needs to go to someplace else if he wants
to play for a championship. Yes, jannest is the reason
that Damian Lillard is there and they're in the position
that they are as a defensive team, and he made
the barter of I'll find I'll resign if you go
(28:05):
get my guy. I The last thing I want to
hear is well, you know Milwaukee can't serve his purposes. Mark,
Milwaukee already served your purpose. Okay, so pick it out,
figure it out, and uh and find a way to
bring Milwaukee another title.
Speaker 4 (28:21):
All right?
Speaker 1 (28:21):
Who's in the tracksuit coaching Lebron when the fall hits?
JJ Reddick, TYLERU.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
Or Doc Rivers?
Speaker 3 (28:28):
You know what I just don't see. I mean, I
would say that Tyler's probably at the top of Lebron's
wish list. I also I think Steve Ballmer will like,
there's no way he's letting TYLERU leave and go play
for the Lakers, like that that rivalry and that enmity
is will prevent him from letting Tyler go. Aside from
(28:50):
the fact that I think that what's happened to the
Clippers this year is not I don't put that on Tie.
It's you know, you don't have you don't have leadership
in your locker room. And so we've we've seen this
story over and over and over again in the way
that they respond, you know, good luck if you want
to you want to bring JJ Reddick in there. I
(29:10):
think were JJ smart enough to know that that would
not be that would not be a good move. And
I think I feel as if Darvin Haam like really
had come to a point where he's like, just put
me out of my misery. I mean, because you don't say,
you don't say, hey, we had a starter over ten
games bleeped, you know, unless you're trying, unless you're trying
(29:36):
to get out of there, because then you're just you're
just you're trying to find a way to lose that
locker room. And so I don't really know that it
matters who they bring in because the issue was not
Darvin Ham's coaching. Yeah, you know, challenging with three minutes
(29:57):
left and it costing your last I'm out. I think
that was a faux pall. But overall, when I look
at the season record that they had and what they
have for personnel and the roster that they have, I know,
Lakers Nation, if they're not, you know, playing for a title,
they think that their team is underachieving or or that
(30:19):
any team that Lebron is on, Lebron and ad In
and of themselves is supposed to make you a title contender.
I just don't know the thirty nine, thirty nine year
old Lebron does that at this point. And the rest
of the roster. I'm supposed to get excited about Austin Reeves.
I think he's a great find. He was undrafted for
(30:40):
a reason. Really, Hackey Murrowa is nice, but he plays
the same position as Lebron. So I just it's a
problematic roster, and and I don't Darvin kept looking for
solutions and answers. I'm not going to put him on that.
We're not going to put that on him. And I
(31:01):
just still I don't know that any There's a coach
out there that is going to solve the riddles, that
is the Lakers roster.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
You can fall him on Twitter at Rick Buker. That
is at Rick Buker Fox Sports one NBA Insider. Check
out his latest on the Ball podcast, which will be
all about the Knicks. Right it's going to be forty
five minutes about the Knicks and Tom Timoadau's track track.
Speaker 3 (31:25):
Wear Isaiah Hartenstein, one of the.
Speaker 4 (31:30):
Best backups we've ever seen.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
Ricky, See you, buddy. We'll talk to you next week. Thanks,
rig There goes Rick Buker. Look at that he's got
the Knicks Final five. I told you when they got
out and KnowBe going to the finals.
Speaker 4 (31:43):
Go New York, Go New York.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
Coming up next, Yes, we'll have more on the Knicks
and the Sixers, but we have a couple of big
games to look ahead too.
Speaker 4 (31:51):
We'll give you our big picks for what is next
in the NBA playoffs. Yes, we may get to Cleveland.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox, I mean
maybe maybe maybe strong maybe maybe yes a strong maybe yes, Okay.
Speaker 2 (32:07):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (32:15):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon, Live from the Tirac dot Com Studios.
You know, I'm in such a good mood after the
nixt win tonight, Let's do something that nobody has done
either on national radio or national TV for the last week.
Men talk about the Cowboys or the Jets or the draft.
(32:39):
Let's preview the Cavaliers Magic game tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (32:41):
Oh, let's go con No, Look, we'll get back.
Speaker 1 (32:47):
Into the Knicks and the Sixers coming up in a
few minutes, because there is some big, big takeaways, especially
for the Sixers and Joel Embiid. But look, Cavaliers in
the Magic. Like when someone says to you, Hey, this
is the best TV show you're not watching, right, Like
this is great. This is the best series that nobody
has watched. Yeah, no, it's good one. And at least
(33:08):
now tomorrow, Hey, okay, Friday night, it's the only game
until the Clippers and Mavericks play late, we'll get to
watch the Cavaliers and the Magic.
Speaker 4 (33:17):
I think that's pretty cool. Finally, after all this stuff's
all right.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Well now can we finally yes, now people can pay
attention to the Caves and the magic.
Speaker 4 (33:25):
That's fine.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Look, this series has been close all the way through
Magic at home for Game six, give me the magic.
This goes to game seven. Yeah, it's what I picked
the Caves to win the series and actually run to
face your nicks, you know, at least in theory, but
Jared Allen's still probably not gonna go. Means more points
(33:48):
and more opportunity for Donovan Mitchell, but much different down low.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
So yeah, we'll go to a game seven.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
Wait, wait a second, you guys are actually doing it. Yeah,
somebody's got to be trend center here. No, come on, man,
come on, a wrong trend.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
I'm in again.
Speaker 1 (34:04):
If there was ever a game that would never be
played on NBA on NBC, it would be that game.
Speaker 4 (34:08):
Hey yeah, hey, this is the bet cast on Drew TV.
Speaker 1 (34:12):
Wait wait, play play the round Ball Rock again and
I'll tell you how Marv Albert would intro this game anyway,
And welcome to the NBA on NBC, where this is
really the game. I'm really this is not a joke.
I thought this was April Fool's Day. I'm going home.
Time out, Marv Albert. I'm gonna go talk it over
with my agent while you watch the Cavaliers and the
(34:35):
Orlando Magic. Not even a Shaquille O'Neill Orlando Magic, not
even a Dennis Scott Orlando Magic. No Lebron in this,
No Mark Price in this. Yes, I am going home.
Good luck as you'll get Spirodidas or someone else with
Mike Furtello.
Speaker 4 (34:54):
Why did you?
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Why did your cadence suddenly become truly the family guy?
Robert lojabiz for Robert Loser, I promise that's not mine
in my suitcase, Hay. Now, Clippers and the Mavericks are
the other game tomorrow night, and I would love to
pick the Clippers to win this game because it is
a definitive Clipper thing to do. Paul George goes nuts
(35:15):
and scores like thirty eight points and the Clippers defy
expectation to come back only to lose Game seven. But
the Mavericks just have a little bit too much and
the way they were able to run away the other night,
this is gonna be too much for the Clippers to overcome.
Mavericks are gonna win this game going away if they
win by less than double digits, I'll be surprised, and
the Mavericks go on to the next round, because remember
(35:36):
I told you the Dallas Mavericks are going to the
Western Conference finals.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
Look at you, you're feeling all chesty after your nixt win.
Seven and a half is your number.
Speaker 1 (35:44):
For the Mavericks, I'm gonna guess they won't fall behind
by thirty one again, probably not.
Speaker 4 (35:49):
I probably not.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
I probably feel safe about that because I wonder how
much of that played into the sixers. And you know,
a dragon Joel in the fourth where Phil Sims would say,
you know, you expend a lot of energy coming back. Uh,
you know from a big deficit early on, you don't
quite have the energy. You won't get to hear that
this year. Yeah, well you don't get a gig somewhere,
Phil Simms. You think it's Phil Simms.
Speaker 4 (36:12):
All the Jets games? Yeah, exit, exit.
Speaker 1 (36:19):
Swelling down the Jason Smith Show with my bes friend
Mike Harmon.
Speaker 4 (36:22):
I mean, nobody's watching them. You might as well go.
There you go, Gafford, PJ. Washington, you gifted.
Speaker 1 (36:26):
You just watch, just watch how good the Jets are
coming up next? Already a head coach is making all
kinds of excuses for his team losing and getting knocked
out of the playoffs. Wait just one, except it's not
the guy you think. That's next Jason and Mike Fox
