Where's Monsey's dropped that she gave you earlier in the show.

Speaker 3 (00:52):
Yeah no, no, the mons?

Speaker 1 (00:54):
Yeah, there we go. Where's that drop? You forgot? You forgot?
Didn't you? You forgot? No, you forgot because you're playing Fortnite.
You forgot. Yeah, I don't play Fortnite. You forgot. Okay,
you forgot. You're playing Halo. You forgot. You're live streaming
with NFL drafts. Yeah, actually I am.

Speaker 4 (01:11):
No.

Speaker 5 (01:11):
Ok, I'm preparing for the NFL Draft show. I'm hosting
it for ESPN.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Oh good, Okay, Although I will say, if one person
here on the show, I can say, hey has NFL
draft inside info because they were live streaming on Twitch
or in a game with them, it would be Tigher.

Speaker 3 (01:26):
Absolutely.

Speaker 1 (01:27):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:27):
Yeah, Well, I'm telling you, Scott and I had a
serious convo about next week Thursday, and I said, you
know what, tap sounds a little bit more available for
your pricing you guys that way.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Because here's what I can see is Tyger. Oh, dude,
guess what I was on Twitch with Shador Sanderson exactly
really what happened? Oh?

Speaker 6 (01:43):
He said?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
Who was drafting him? Who wasn't? Oh? Oh, I forget,
I forgot. What was it? The Giants? I don't remember,
the Browns, No, I don't remember. He said it. He
said it was Hawks. Cannot He said he couldn't wait
to play with Trey Young that now with the expansion
team Galaxy. He mentioned that would be I forget. He

(02:05):
told me who was drafting him? Like ah, and even
showed me that the email from the GM who was
it was it Joe Shane. I don't know, I don't know.
I saw the name too, I I can't remember what.
I tried to ask his dwn a question, but he
told me to stay in my lane. So that's that's
a different ball you're thinking. Beon. I was a foot
ahead of myself. Whoa whoa, whoa whoa whoa? Not cool

(02:29):
mass like a step above LeVar. Not cool knocking. No,
you're done, you're done. The door palty but stop, you're
in a penalty box. You're in the pedally box. We're
moving on. We're moving on. We're moving on. Fox Sports
Ready there that thing? No, No, you're you're done. You're done,

(02:51):
You're done, You're done. Man, that was not cool. That
was not cool. It was not It was not cool.
It was not cool. Was not cool. We're moving on.
We're moving on. Knuckle knuckle uh h's oh speaking of
what is cool? Though, My Mavericks fourth quarter beginning the
playing game, and I've told you, look, no team is
at more risk of having their image be ripped apart

(03:14):
more than if the Mavericks fail in the playing round.
It's why I told you they were my surprise team
to get out of the playing round because they have
the most at stake. Flipping the narrative past we traded Luca.
This is terrible. Why am I even rooting for this team?
This is a big week for them. And I also
told you the Bulls were coming out of the East,
but forget it. They're on my never again less. We'll

(03:34):
get to them. But I told you. Look, Ad knows
he is under pressure to produce a big week this week.
The Mavericks can own the week, right They can own
the week if they win these couple. Doesn't matter what
happens against the Oklahoma City Thunder. They can own the week.
And they are thumping the Kings right now. AD's got
twenty one and seven. It's been a big first half
for Klay Thompson as well. He's got sixteen, but Williams

(03:57):
an exhum off the bench of combined for twenty six
and Mavericks are getting it from everywhere right now. It's
a one oh one eighty three lead now with about
ten minutes to go in the fourth quarter. And I'll
tell you I feel great. I feel great about the Mavericks,
and I just you know, the Bulls just really let
me down.

Speaker 6 (04:13):
No, no, they let a lot of people down because
they didn't even kind of try out there. It was
a bad game. It was a bad game. Right now,
MAVs look good. I don't think it completely changes the
narrative what has happened, uh, but I do think it
leaves a positive taste in MAV's mouths at the end
of the season, which is.

Speaker 3 (04:31):
What you want, you know what I mean.

Speaker 6 (04:32):
And you know, no one is gonna expect them to
beat the thunder But if they just put up a
good fight, because there's a good way to lose, you
know what I'm saying, Like the Bulls.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
Today, that was a bad way to lose.

Speaker 6 (04:44):
It just you didn't come out prepared for that at
home in the elimination game.

Speaker 3 (04:50):
That not a good way to lose. There's good ways
to lose.

Speaker 6 (04:53):
And that's another part where if they play okay see
and they go down, but they go down fighting and swinging,
that's gonna be another positive thing for Maps fans.

Speaker 1 (05:00):
And it's it's it's also to the point of it's
not quite winning the breakup because you're never gonna win
the people. Right This is like you know, you know,
two people dating and they break up because you know,
she goes and or he goes and dates a movie star,
right like it's like the like the real life Julia Roberts,
right like, you know she and she starts dating a

(05:22):
guy who was a cameraman. And now it's like it's like, okay,
so your ex goes and is dating a movie star
and they have this great, big life. They live in
tows and they have all they they have houses and
they have all kinds of things and they have they're
they're famous, and it's like, wow, you're not gonna win
the breakup. But this is after a while. You know,
you go to dinner with a couple of friends. They go,

(05:42):
how you doing, and you go, well, you know, I
started seeing somebody else and it's going, okay, I gotta
raise at work, so that's good. I like my job
a lot more. Oh that's good. It's so good. That's
so good. That's what the Mavericks need to do, right now.
That's what the map did. They gotta be that part
of the breakup of hey, I'm just seeing somebody new
where you know, hey, you know I gotta raise at

(06:03):
work and things are okay. Now, yeah, no, I would
doing Hey, that's so great. For you. I feel like,
you know why I had to lunch up the other day. Oh,
it was awesome. They've moved on there. I mean obviously,
you know, dating a movie star, but they moved on.
I feel good. But the Mavericks needs so much pressure
on them to do this.

Speaker 6 (06:19):
The little victories is what they need. And it's crazy
to think. I feel like NBA fans, we're all rooting
together for the MAVs, Like everyone's like, yeah, go win, MAVs.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
Do you think MAVs fans are rooting for the Maps
and They're like, no, we stink it. I'm still pissed
and I want them to lose.

Speaker 6 (06:36):
They might they might feel that way watching hate watching,
and maybe also they don't want to win because again,
no one expects them to be okay to see if
they do get into the playoffs officially, but maybe out
of spite, like they don't want to win so they
could keep hating Nico Harrison, you know, like that's part.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Of it for some of those fans, absolutely, But I
think the rest of the fans are just kind of like, yay, MAVs,
get get that man. You go out there, good job,
good job.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
The small victories, Oh, she got to raise at work.
It's wonderful. Now, that's outstanding. I'm so happy for them.
That's really really good. And then on a scratch off
they won a thousand dollars a few months around for you. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
you know, I saw what's the name bought a house
in uh in, Utah where they have that big movie
thing every year. Yeah, you tell your right, right, that's

(07:26):
a huge man outside live. It's like it's like a
fifteen bedroom mansion. And you want to scratch off that's
the same thing. Yeah, No, want to win that part
of the breakup. They want to win that part. Now,
winning that part of the breakup. We talked about this yesterday,
the Nico Harrison I say, media availability session that he

(07:46):
had with members of the media yesterday, where he answered
questions about the Luka Doncic trade and did not allow
cameras or any recording avice media present. Yeah, no, no
media present. Media. It was really yeah, it was really
it was really kind of kind of kind of week
quite honestly. But the thing is is that some of

(08:08):
the the details of his media session were let out
on social media today, where he talked with ESPN's Tim
McMahon and reading the back and forth the the the
transcript of their interview, I say to myself, oh my goodness,
this Nico, you come on, man, you got just to

(08:29):
answer questions. Just let me turn the cameras on. Like
Tim McMahon asked him a question about the direction of
the team. He goes because I'm reading, he goes on
for like, you know, a whole paragraph plus, and then
Nico says, can you repeat the question? So he's got
to repeat the whole question of the paragraph, and Nico
just says, yeah, we feel Defense wins championships. And then
Tim McMahon has another paragraph of a question going, can
you give us details on this? You know, I don't

(08:51):
know what else to tell you, Defense wins championships. And
I'm seeing just the you know, reading just like the
entire like seven eight lines of a Tim McMahon question,
and Nico says one thing, and then seven eight lines
of bigg and then he says one thing. I'm like,
just get, you know, give the boilerplate answers that people
need at this point. Just say, hey, we were in
a situation where we didn't know if we were gonna
have Luca after this year, so we did the best

(09:13):
thing we could to move on for the future. You
may not like it, but at least it's an answer,
and at some point, you know, fans, in the media
and the team, everybody deserves answers for what's going on.
You're only going to make it better, your relationship better,
and start healing if you give real answer. You don't
have to get into detail, going too much, who cut
too much beer or whatever, but you need to say, hey,
we didn't know what his future was gonna be. We

(09:34):
were faced with either losing him or getting something for
We chose to get something for him, and we're happy
with where we're at. We wanted to change the identity
of team whatever it is. Just give an answer that
human instead of just saying, Hey, no cameras and I'm
gonna just give you boilerplate one line answers. I mean,
I get why Nico Harrison doesn't mean with the media
a lot, because clearly he's really bad at it. But
if you're gonna do this and dictate by saying no

(09:55):
cameras know this, at least have some sort of Hey,
here's a paragraph, what I'm gonna say, Here's something I'm
gonna say that's going to at least stend the tide
on all of that.

Speaker 6 (10:03):
Yeah, it's almost like, listen, we're not expecting an apology,
but accountability would be nice.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
Just acknowledge everything.

Speaker 6 (10:12):
Acknowledge to the fans that you did something that really
hurt them.

Speaker 3 (10:15):
Acknowledge MAVs fans.

Speaker 6 (10:17):
I feel like if you would have Luca was such
a big part of that community in that team that
I bet you if you would have asked Dallas Mavericks
diehard fans, hey, do you want to win maybe one
championship in the next ten years without Luca or keep
Luca for the next ten years, I bet.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
You they probably would keep Luca and not take the championship.
Like this was a dagger.

Speaker 1 (10:41):
If you said to Dallas fans, hey, you could have
Luca for the next ten years. Or to borrow from
a previous guest, the Cowboys could get a key first
down in a in an NFC East game in December.
What would you pick? They would say, Oh, I want
the key first out in the East game of December.
That's what I want.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
That's what I want. I don't even know. I think
maybe it still take Luca to be honest with you,
the way that that city loved Luca.

Speaker 6 (11:07):
And I think this whole thing with Niko, it's like
a little bit of accountability, a little bit of direct
responses and answers like what was the point of this?

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Yeah, well you should have just released a statement.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Right, it was terrible.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
What was the point of this? Just release the statement.

Speaker 6 (11:21):
Then, if you're not even gonna answer the questions the
way people want you to answer them, and you're gonna
say whatever you want, just release a damn statement. But
I think it's like a little again, don't need to apologize.

Speaker 3 (11:30):
It's not what I'm.

Speaker 6 (11:30):
Saying, but a little bit of of acknowledgment of maybe
how much you hurt the fans that maybe you weren't
aware and what you just said, Hey, we we weren't
sure of our future.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
We thought we made the right decision and we're gonna
see how it goes, right.

Speaker 6 (11:44):
But it's like he keeps avoiding and acting stupid and
it's just like, dude, like you're making it worse. I
also agree with you that he's the face of this, right, Like,
it's not just him. Other people were behind this decision,
the ownership because he would have been fired.

Speaker 1 (11:59):
You gotta lay off a little bit, because clearly this
was a full organizational decision, right. The Adilsons were on board.
This is where all that you know, the Vegas thing,
Oh they want to want to move to Vegas because
he had the Adelson's or a Vegas family, the du Monts.
Everybody is on board with this, and he's taking all
of the arrows right now, which is a pretty a
pretty cool thing to do to say. I'm sure he
wants the ownership to come out and say something right right, hey,

(12:21):
please say something to help me a little bit. But
he's been taking all the arrows. But everybody is on
board with this trade. You cannot like it, but this
is not Nico waking up one day going I'm gonna
trade Luca and then they have a meeting and the
owners are calling saying, hey, did you make a trade today?
I didn't say did you make a trade today? Did
you trade Luka Dantzic?

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Did you do that?

Speaker 6 (12:39):
Absolutely they were fully involved. They knew what was happening,
because if they didn't, they would have fired him. Now
he is the face and he's unfortunately getting all the backlash.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
I don't think we should ease up I don't like. Unfortunately,
this is what he signed up for.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
I bet you the owners are like, Hey, you're gonna
do this, but you are gonna be the face and
you're gonna have to deal with all of it.

Speaker 3 (13:00):
We'll give you a nice little payout at the end.
I'll give you a little bonus.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
If you don't throw any of us under the bus, yes, absolutely,
or mention the words loss in Vegas. We will give
you a big cat absolutely. You know that.

Speaker 3 (13:13):
That's what they've discussed. So he knew what he was doing.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
So I I just hand him bags of money over
the table here every time, and you kept that shit.
Here's a third bag here, you.

Speaker 3 (13:21):
Go right here every single time.

Speaker 6 (13:22):
You don't mention us or throw us under the bus.
Can give me a little more, a little more.

Speaker 1 (13:27):
I'm just thinking about that scene in the Wire. Do
you watch the water No?

Speaker 3 (13:30):
I think I would like it.

Speaker 1 (13:32):
There's a scene when when one of the characters goes
into one of the drug dealers where where their base
of operations in He's He says, you know, I want
you know I've been working for this. I've been really loyal.
I want you to give me money. I need fifteen
thousand dollars. I want to open a gym for at
risk kids. I've done a lot for you. I've been
a body man. I think you owe me this money.
And he works himself up. He works himself up, and

(13:52):
he walks in and he says, I think you owe
me this money. I want to start a gym. And
the guy says, how about you need and he goes
fifteen grand, and he goes, you did fifteen hey, give
him twenty five. Give him twenty five grand, and then
come up with like shoeboxes from the back and hand
it to him and cut. He walks away with like
two shoeboxes full of twenty five grand. Oh you want
to like that? Give him twenty five. You've done a lot.

(14:13):
You've done a lot. Here take twenty five. They take
twas exactly there. I forgot you. Yeah, everybody blamed you. You
didn't mention my name. Here's another twenty five for you.
Here's the twenty five, Nico, you got him.

Speaker 3 (14:22):
You handled that real well. We're throwing in an extra fifty.

Speaker 1 (14:25):
Good job exit out about a Fresca exit Moncey Bolanos
The Jason Smith Show with Monsey in from Mike Harmon tonight,
uh Dallas still with a big lead, nine minutes left
to go, one oh three eighty five. What to make
of what we've seen so far in the playing round?
Of what we're going to see? Nobody better than Rick
Buker joining him next right here on Fox Sports Radio

(14:47):

Speaker 3 (15:07):
I Am an ass Man.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Under five minutes left to go and it's all Mavericks.
One on My Mavericks that I told you were coming
out of the playing round because I had the most
at stake. Doesn't matter if AD's losing teeth, Yeah, he's
having a huge second half. Twenty five and nine, winning
the break up Jason Clay has. They're not winning that,

(15:30):
they're just showing that they can move on as well
a little bit. Clay Thompson's got eighteen A man who
tweeted out earlier tonight Clay has that look joined us
down on the hot line Fox Sports won NBA insider
extraordinaire set to spend some time with Rick Buker, host
of the On the Ball podcast as well. He has

(15:50):
said that Clay's got that look, AD's got that look,
and I feel really good about my Mavericks out of
the playing round in the West prediction, Rick, what's but
a man? How are you?

Speaker 4 (16:01):
I'm good? How are we?

Speaker 1 (16:03):
Well? I said? Two surprise teams are coming out of
the playing round, I said, the Bulls and the Mavericks.
So I'm feeling really good about one of them.

Speaker 4 (16:12):
As you could, let's accentuate the positive.

Speaker 1 (16:16):
Yeah. Look, you know when we talked about the Mavericks,
it's a twenty point lead for them with four minutes
left to go. You know, I looked at this and
I said, this is such a huge week for them
because they can really start to move out from under
the Luca shadow if they because they can own this week, right,
It doesn't matter what happens in the next round against
the Thunder, but they own this week. Luca's not playing.

(16:39):
Ad has a lot of pressure to play well. He's
come I know he's going to come through, and suddenly
the healing can sort of begin in Dallas. And Okay,
maybe it's not all lost when when Kyrie comes back.
But winning and getting out of the playing round is
a huge, huge thing for them.

Speaker 4 (16:56):
Oh, there's no question about it. I mean it would
be Look, it's not going to be the salvation for
Luca being in La, but it certainly would be a
statement that this team is better than it's been given
credit for since they made the trade. Look, you lose,

(17:18):
you lose Ad, and then you lose Kyrie. They've still battled.
It's interesting. It's been interesting for me to watch them
in light of Luca going. I know, the outside perspective is,
how could you lose a guy like Luca? And obviously
emotionally affected Luca in a big way. He never wanted
to leave Dallas. But I've seen teams lose players before

(17:45):
and you can just tell they've been gutted. They've they've
lost someone that they never imagine not playing with. And
we haven't heard or seen that sort of remorse from
the Dallas Mavericks since he left. I don't I don't
want to make too much of that or suggest that

(18:07):
that Luca is in any way a bad teammate. But
you know, we heard from over the years it was
just sometimes it was tough to play with him, and
good or bad. I just get the sense that there
are a number of Dallas Mavericks players who are now
looking forward to the chance to prove that they're a

(18:29):
little bit better than people gave them credit for. That
everything was all the success was credited to Luca, and
that now they get the chance to demonstrate that they
too can play this game and have success and potentially
make some noise in the playoffs. So we'll see where
that goes. It's not expecting anything big. If they basically

(18:50):
make it into the playoffs, I think it would be
a huge statement. But the fact that they're you know,
still alive and potentially on their way and I feel
different about them now, you know, having watched this game
against Sacramento, I thought I thought was Memphis's game, regardless
of who came out of it. I'm feeling a little

(19:12):
bit different now after watching the way Dallas and some
of the ancillary pieces played.

Speaker 1 (19:17):
You know, the other thing Rick, the last couple of
days I've been thinking about is obviously. Look, Nico Harrison
had a bizarre quote press conference when he talked about
the Luca trade finally a day ago, but he wouldn't
allow cameras to record things, and it was just, you know,
very ham handed. But at the same time, I want
to say, you know, I think it's time to cut
them a brake a little bit, because he just didn't

(19:37):
wake up one day and decide he wanted to trade
Luka doncics like the entire organization, the Adelson's the doom
wants like everybody's on board with this, and he's the
guy getting all the blame where it's like, hey, understand
that this was bigger than that, and this doesn't happen
unless everybody in the organization is yes, we're okay with
trading Luca.

Speaker 4 (19:55):
Yeah, and there's no doubt. And look, I knew that
from the very beginning that he was taking all the
slings and arrows and saying, you know, this was my decision.
It had everything to do with with signing Luca to
a five year, three hundred and forty five million dollar
extension and having new owners who saw him come back,

(20:20):
saw him lose in the finals because he wasn't in
great condition and wasn't composed when he got frustrated. I mean,
you know, everybody I've heard from too many people are saying,
what are you talking about? He was he carried them
and he was their best player in the finals. Yeah,

(20:41):
he he got them there, and then he cost them
a potential winning a ring. I don't care what the
numbers are. When you get to have the ball as
much as he has, you're going to have numbers. But
the fact is that he made crucial errors and at
crucial top and I did not expect that from someone

(21:02):
with his experience. And so then he comes back and
he's not in any better You think you lose a
championship the way that they did that, that would be
a wake up call. I need to come back. I
need to be in better shape, I need to defend harder.
And instead he comes back, he's not in shape, and
he gets injured again, and new ownership has just shown up,

(21:22):
and I was thinking, Okay, we're going to sign up
five years st hand and forty five million dollars for this.
I understand why they questioned the wisdom of that. And
so you're right, Nico has taken all the blame on
this and the reality is, you know, as bizarre as
the press conference might have been, Like what else is

(21:44):
he supposed to say other than no, Like we're we
made this decision and we're not going to judge it
until we see where this goes. I mean, I think
everybody saw the forty five points by by Luca in
Dallas and Dallas falling off and the Lakers, you know,

(22:06):
moving up in the standings. That's now, oh see, that
justifies the move and it's not. This is this is
a decision made because of long term concerns, and we're
not going to know just how wise or foolish that
decision was until we get a little further down the road.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
Hey, Rick, thanks for joining us. Hope you're having a
good night.

Speaker 6 (22:28):
The Bulls that let Jason Smith down and most of
their friends, I believe the last three years they have
been eliminated by the heat in the plan.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
They stay afloat. But that's all they do.

Speaker 6 (22:40):
Yeah, And it's hard to accept it because it's such
a historically.

Speaker 3 (22:44):
Great franchise with Michael Jordan.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
What what can the Bulls do to actually kind of.

Speaker 3 (22:50):
Get over this like little hump because they just stay afloat.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
I think this one, this one hurts the most because
of the way they were finishing the season and and
the fact that Jason was was behind him. I mean,
I don't think know that there's been too many times
that he's had faith in then, And as I understand,
that really perked the ears in Chicago and an Olds organization.

(23:15):
We're like, oh, maybe we do have something. Jason is
a believer.

Speaker 1 (23:19):
Uh yeah, Kobe White mentioned that in his postgame press
conference tonight. So I'm really I'm taking this one on
the chin tonight.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
Yeah, no, no doubt, no doubt that he did. And
so like it felt like they had made you know,
they they had moved on to zach Lavine, and that
it actually ended up being a shrewd decision. I do
like like, I like a lot of the pieces that
they have, and but like I don't, I don't you know,

(23:48):
in a in a market like Chicago, the idea of
completely tearing it down and rebuild and having a year,
I mean, they they did that once before after Jordan,
and it didn't it didn't get them where they wanted

(24:10):
to go, and so now they're trying to kind of
patch together something that might get them back to the playoffs,
and they haven't been very successful. But I like, I
don't have any answers for you other than I mean,
they've changed gms, they've coached it feel, it feels, it
feels a little cursed right right now.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
It's a good way to put it.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Rick Buker, our guest Jason Smith, Moncie Bolanos, and from
Mike Carmen, Fox Sports Radio. All right, now, let's get
to the Western Conference. We're going past here now a
minute left in Dallas is winning by nineteen, so that
they're they're moving on to play Friday night. Everybody after
last night, they're right and in. The Warriors into the
second round of the playoffs, are now the favorites over
the Rockets. But you say this is where you say,

(24:53):
this is where the road ends for the Warriors.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
Yeah, I'm a little curious why because I thought that
they I thought they struggled, obviously to beat a Memphis
Grizzlies team that came into the postseason four and five
under a brand new, untested, unproven, unknown head coach. And

(25:18):
then John Morant, you know, having to sit a crucial
eight minutes after rolling his ankle, and what I saw.
While it was really impressive what Jimmy and Steph did.
It took like seventy some points from those two guys

(25:39):
in order to eke out this win, and some tremendous
hustle plays by the supporting cast, which you would expect
when you're playing at home in a game like this,
but I didn't. What I saw was you needed these curculean,
herculean efforts from jim Me and Steph in order just

(26:03):
to get past the Memphis Grizzlies and and get and
and get to the first round. So can they Can
they beat Houston? Yeah? I do not think it's going
to be easy, and I and I think that that Houston's.
The tricky part with Houston is their their regular season
record is built on on efficiency, playing tough defense, controlling

(26:27):
the pace. They don't really have the go to score
that you'd like to have in the postseason that becomes crucial.
Uh and but they are great rebounding teams. So the
question is, like, can can the Warriors have the Can
they have four of those type of games from Jimmy
and Steph because I believe that's what they're going to need.

(26:50):
I don't see that the Warriors supporting cast is I
don't even know. I wouldn't say that the supporting cast
is better than than the Rockets. I would give the
edge to the Rockets in terms of their depth and
their versatility. They're just young and a lot of those
pieces are inexperience. But so are the Warriors supporting casts.

(27:11):
I mean, everybody's talking about Houston Rockets youth. Random. The
Jemsk has never been in the playoffs, Post has never
been in the pet playoffs. Most of this, Moody has
never been a starting two in the playoffs. By Yield
got a cup of you know, got a taste of
the playoffs, and then the Philadelphia seventies sixers said, oh,
you're not a playoff player.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Sit down.

Speaker 4 (27:31):
So I don't like I just I think it's going
to be an interesting series. But in no, no, I'm
baffled why anybody would watch that game with the Warriors
and think, oh, they're just going to run roughshots over
the Houston Rockets. I will see, and I could be

(27:53):
completely wrong. Maybe the Warriors have found some sort of magic.
But I saw a supporting cast that gave up a
twenty point lead in a blink of an eye. And
that's not a good recipe for the postseason.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
He's on Twitter at Rick Buker. That is at Rick Buker,
Fox Sports One. What's on the On the Ball podcast
this week? Is it all about the Knicks Pistons preview?
Is that what it is? All forty five minutes?

Speaker 4 (28:20):
Yeah? Sure? Why not?

Speaker 1 (28:22):
Yeah? All right? If you cover anything else? What else
is on there?

Speaker 4 (28:27):
Oh, we'll do a little more housekeeping when it comes
to some of the things that Lebron is doing. And
then I want to dive into all that Nico Harrison
said and why he had no choice but to say
what he said.

Speaker 1 (28:42):
There it is On the Ball podcast. The link is
I'll be on Rick Buker's Twitter page. That's at Rick Buker.
Thanks so much, buddy. Enjoy the rest of the week.
We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
Guy Dumont was a ball or Yo, Well.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
The Dumont family getting a shout out. I mean, look,
that's the thing is that right after the game last night,
like all of a sudden, the Warriors get installed his
favorites over the Rockets, and I get certain, I get
certain philosophies of hey, Steph and Jimmy will hit the
big shots and Rockets don't really have a lot of
who's gonna hit the big shot in the Rockets, I
get it, But the Rockets are just the better team.

(29:18):
They've proven they've been the better team all season long.
And while yes, the Warriors are playing better, Like Steph
can't get his own shot off at the end of game,
it's not like suddenly always gonna be one of what
we've seen it his whole career. He can't get shots off.
So okay, Jimmy Butler's gonna have to do it like
they've become. Jimmy and Steph. Now when they add that
next star this offseason, because like I've said in the beginning,
getting Jimmy buckets is a great thing. They signed him

(29:40):
for two more years. They're gonna bring somebody else in
big this offseason, whether it's a Joel Embiid or you know,
a Trey Young, whatever it is, they're gonna bring in
another third superstar that's gonna work. They're still kind of
becoming what they're going to become, and the run's going
to end for the Warriors sooner rather than later.

Speaker 6 (29:57):
You know, I was surprised that they were favored, even
though I'm taking.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
The Warriors to beat the Rockets. I don't think it's
gonna be easy. And maybe I'm just Delulu.

Speaker 6 (30:08):
By putting putting so much in the experience that I
think they have versus a very young team, and I
think the Rockets are great. They are probably gonna out
rebound the Warriors. They play great defense. But I am on, like,
who's gonna be your scorer? You don't have a guy,
you don't have the guy, and sometimes it works out
right you can all of you. You have a bunch
of guys, and maybe they'll all step up at different times.

Speaker 1 (30:30):
Next year, it's sorry, Brianna, I know next year it's kd.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
No probably you know Emai Udoka. I think he's a
great coach. I agree with all of that. I think
the Warriors.

Speaker 6 (30:39):
Pull this one off, and maybe I'm again Delulu and
putting it too much on their experience. I also think
Steph can sniff that they have a chance with Jimmy,
and I feel like Jimmy playoff, Jimmy playoff Steph are
gonna be a thing.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
I think I think forget about Belanos, you should be
Moncey Delulu just drop dro.

Speaker 3 (31:00):
Lou Go what does she Delulu about Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
People said I was Delulu when I picked the Mavericks,
but tell a Monzie, I was not that.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
But I don't know why they're favored. That's weird. It
should be Houston should be favored to win.

Speaker 1 (31:14):
Now, Montie de Lulu's got watched Trendulhu in the world
of sports.

Speaker 3 (31:19):
Still right now, you were not Delulu about the Mavericks.

Speaker 1 (31:24):
No, I was.

Speaker 3 (31:24):
You were not look at that. They're still alive.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
I would beat Jason Delulu, but it sounds too much
like Jason Derouro. I can't do that.

Speaker 3 (31:31):
Yeah you can. He would sue you absolutely.

Speaker 6 (31:34):
MAVs beat the Kings one twenty to one oh six
in the play in so the Mavericks will not be
facing the Grizzlies on Friday to try and get the
eighth seed in the Western Conference, where they will face Okay,
see Anthony Davis a rough start to the game, but
ended with twenty seven points, hit a couple threes.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
He even got I don't know, hitting.

Speaker 6 (31:52):
The face, almost lost a tooth, was definitely bleeding, but
stayed out there so he didn't come out of the game.
He was in street closed. Anthony Davis at the end
of it. He stayed in there again twenty seven points.
DeMar DeRozan thirty three points in the loss for Sacramento.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Earlier in the other play in well they.

Speaker 6 (32:08):
Let you down, but the Chicago Bulls did lose to
the Miami he final score one oh nine to ninety.
Tyler Hero did not miss a shot until the second
half ended with thirty eight points. So now Miami is
going to compete with Atlanta on Friday for the eighth
seed in the Eastern Conference and the winner is going
to face the Cleveland I was gonna say Guardians, the
Cleveland Cleveland team and Travis Hunter.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
Some Cleveland team is going to face.

Speaker 1 (32:34):
Cleveland Spiders are back one years of disbanding in baseball.

Speaker 3 (32:40):
Hey when that happens, But it happens.

Speaker 6 (32:41):
Other NBA news, today, Pelicans are hiring Joe Dumars to
be their new president of basketball operations. In NFL news,
WRCTV reported that the Commanders in the District of Columbia
are close to a three billion dollar deal to build
a new stadium.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
On the site of our FK Stadium.

Speaker 6 (32:58):
Former Tennessee quarterback Nicolava is reportedly transferring to UCLA. One
game still going on in baseball. The Rockies have cut
their deficit to one against the Dayers. The Dodgers are
up eight seven. It's the top of the eighth inning
in LA show How Tawny with the homer in this one.
Earlier today, Aaron Judge hit a homer, his seventh of
the season, as the Yankees completed a three game sweep

(33:20):
of the Royals.

Speaker 3 (33:21):
Four to three was the final score there.

Speaker 6 (33:23):
Giants improved to thirteen and five after outscoring the Phillies
eleven to four, and the Pirates O'Neil Cruz hit a
grand slam, the first of his career.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
They beat the national six to one.

Speaker 6 (33:33):
Cal Rawley has hit one hundred career homers as the
Mariners today defeated the Reds five to three.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
Okay, back to us.

Speaker 1 (33:41):
Thank you very much. Monsey. Coming up next, what is,
without a doubt, the saidest story out of the NBA.
We gotta pour one out for something big out of
the NBA after tonight, Mons and I do that next
right here. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (33:54):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern pm Pacific,
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (34:02):
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmen Lifromthetirac dot Com Studios.
Monty Blago's in for Harmon tonight.

Speaker 3 (34:08):
I am an ass man, and uh, we'll get.

Speaker 1 (34:11):
Back into the Mavericks huge win over the Kings, which
I told you was coming coming up, huge boner which
I told you was coming. We'll get back to that
ten minutes, but first the one I got wrong. So
the two surprise teams that I said were coming out
of the playing round would be the Bulls and the Mavericks.
And boy, I feel great about the mass. The Bulls, yeesh,

(34:32):
They're on my never again list, never pick. I mean,
I'm never gonna fall for them again to do anything.
But the thing is, Moncey, it's it's so sad what
the Bulls have become because not only in the Jordan
era in the nineties where they were the franchise in
the end, people still wear Bulls gear now because of Jordan.
The nineties they had a big run, you know, after

(34:53):
Jordan and and Derrick Rose comes in. They had fifty
sixty win seasons the last decade. It it's embarrassing, like
you see the guys go out there in the uniforms
and you go, these uniforms used to mean something. You
were royalty, you were everything, and it's just sad now
that no matter what they tried, they can't get it
right and they're just a mediocre bad team. They're not

(35:14):
even mediocre bed where they get headlines like when the
Knicks are bed, oh man, we're making headline. When the
Lakers are bed, oh man, we had headlines talking about
how bad they are and how they're screwing it up.
The Bulls have just been off the radar and and
mediocre to below mediocre for the better part of a decade.
It's like that's just sad because I mean they've been
spent so much to the lead and not too long ago,

(35:36):
like you know, I know, you know, you remember the
tail end of it and the Derreck Rose era when
you thought, okay, this is coming back, but hey, they
happen to run into Lebron with the heat and that
you know, look, that's what stopped the Bulls. But like
this is I see this. It's just sad when I
watch the Bulls play and I go, man, it's I
feel like everything they do it should be bigger, and
it's just not. It makes me sad.

Speaker 6 (35:57):
It's true because, you know what, the Bulls are lucky
in a sense that they're not just a team, they're
a brand.

Speaker 3 (36:02):
They're still a brand.

Speaker 6 (36:04):
People will wear Bulls just because of Michael Jordan. And
it's been so many years and not all teams are brands.
They're up there with like the Cowboys are a brand
and they're also a dumpster fire. Lakers are a brand
and they have Luka Doncic. You know, like they are
one of those rare teams that are a brand. They

(36:24):
are not just a basketball team in Chicago. They are
an actual brand. And it is sad because it's almost
like they're just going through the motions, like they're just
there and like they went some and then they look
good at times and you're like.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
Okay, maybe this will be the year. Maybe this is
when they turn it around. And it's the same thing
I'm telling you.

Speaker 6 (36:42):
Three years in a row they have been eliminated by
the Miami Heat, and they've made.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Changes all over the place, and they can't get over
this hump.

Speaker 6 (36:50):
They have not actually been in the playoffs in about
four years, and then they got eliminated in the first round.

Speaker 3 (36:55):
It's been a.

Speaker 6 (36:56):
While since they have had real success, just being good
is like not what you expect from the Chicago Bulls.

Speaker 1 (37:03):
Yeah, they're the official team of the playing round in
the East. Yeah, like, yeah, hey, don't worry, we have
the official team. And the thing is is, it's not
like they don't have talent, right, Like looking when I
picked the bus and listen, they've been playing really well
since the all started breaking at twelve games over five hundred, Right,
Josh Kiddy's become you know, a polarizing dude. Right, but
he's a pretty good player, right, Kobe White all of
a sudden turn in whoa, this guy's scoring forty a game. Right, Yeah, Hey,

(37:24):
the Bulls maybe have something and no, this is what happens.
They lose at home by twenty. Right. It's been when
they had Derozen and Levine and it was boy, look
how good we're gonna be. No, still couldn't do it.
They trade those and I showed you to night Sacramento Kings. Hey,
getting ex Bulls is not the way to win, ye, Like,
no matter what they have, they have just enough talent
every year to think that maybe something's gonna happen and

(37:46):
they can't get anywhere past thirty seven to forty three
wins like that's it, and not making the playoffs or
losing early like this on the playing round and I'm.

Speaker 3 (37:54):
Looking at the box score. Yeah, Kobe White did not
have a great game. He was five of twenty.

Speaker 1 (38:00):
Nobody had a great game. Nobody had lost at home by.

Speaker 3 (38:02):
Twenty and from the beginning, like the game was over.

Speaker 1 (38:06):
They made a run.

Speaker 3 (38:07):
They never made a run. It was like, do you guys,
this is a game seven? What are you doing? Why
are you acting like it's game one? That you have
another three to play? At least this was game seven.
And from the beginning it was not exciting to watch you.

Speaker 1 (38:21):
Say that, like you bet on the balls tonight, like
you're really angry. I'm just said you sound angry, you're
mad at the balls.

Speaker 3 (38:27):
I'm mad.

Speaker 1 (38:29):
I'm frustrated that play off the beginning, I got the
first quarter over.

Speaker 3 (38:34):
And you guys, I want a good game. Damn, it
is that too much to ask for? I thought this
was Game seven atmosphere.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
I don't think you can bet on a good game.
I want to bet that it's a good game. Okay.

Speaker 6 (38:45):
I wanted a competitive game and it wasn't competitive from
the beginning. No, I was expecting a little bit of
Game seven atmosphere.

Speaker 1 (38:53):
Yeah yeah, Game seven of the season made exactly yeah. Yeah,
but not Game seven of the player. No, it didn't happen.
No exit about a Fresca exit. Monci Bolango's The Jason
Smith Show with Monsey and for Mike Harmon, it's just
said what the Bulls have become and the NBA all
of us are suffering. Coming up next, we get back
into the hottest NBA story that I keep it right here.

(39:15):
This is Fox Sports Radio. How about those Mavericks?

Speaker 3 (39:20):
I am an ass man.
