(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Alright, it's already Planks
sitting in for Jason's back Sunday night, Sunday night from
Tin Peter one a Central time here on Fox Sports
right now. Not exactly true, Not true. I'll be here
Sunday morning and Sunday night. Okay, I'm doing a little
(00:46):
double checkratulations. No, you know, I'm the football experts, so
they need me to do extra football stuff. You know that, Scott,
Why do you do this to me? I love I
love you. I love working here. Why do you do
this to me? That's who? Right? So it's I guess
the show so big they need an extra host? Is
that kind of how we look at There's fours on
(01:09):
the schedule. Yeah, I'm filling in. Then why do you
eat so many co hosts? I'm filling in for somebody's
I'm in with Ferman for the first two hours, then
my Carmen uh, and then my Carmen after that too.
So that's that's what I'm doing Sunday morning. So is
it a three hour show or four four hours show?
(01:33):
Come on? I always schedule myself on four hours shows.
Do you know that? So? What time is that on
Sunday morning? So everyone can do the double dose of
six am am Eastern oh prime slot, especially in Central
time zone, that's five am. Baby, let's go. Got a
couple of quick tweets for you, Yeah, you do, got
a couple of tweets for you. Then I want to
(01:54):
get to some college football stuff because I know you've
been trying to figure out a way to get Alabama
into playoffs still, and I have a rooting guide for
you if you want that chaos. And I've got some
good notes here on previewing Michigan and Ohio State. I
I'm really excited to see. I think the Sunflower State
showdown is fun. I know it's not your your it's
not your Alabama and Michigan's Arenie, but it's a fun game.
(02:16):
I think I think Auburn Alabama is gonna be a
good game. We'll get to those coming up here in
just a bit. Russef is the goat rights. Arnie went
into full villain mode on the Bills and Josh Allen.
But you've always been in villain mode with them, right right. No,
And maybe it's because I filled in. I was working yesterday,
so we were on after the game. And UM, I
(02:39):
mean we wanted, obviously the Bills to lose. Me and
VJ both Dolphin fans, and um, it was certainly when
it helped us out. I don't know if they get
to go ahead and you know, uh finished the top
of that division and fight off the Bills. That Dolphins
have a pretty tough schedule, and they do have after
the Texas three games in a row on the road
that are gonna be pretty murderous. So it's it's gonna
be tough going from here on out. Um, do you
(03:01):
know who has the toughest schedule in the NFL left
for the rest of No, I don't have in front
of me. I used to have in front of me,
but go ahead. Well, Tankathon actually has a list of
the toughest NFL schedule. Schedule strength for the rest of
the way, and according to the way that they've calculated this,
(03:25):
the team with the toughest strength of schedule is the
New York Giants, where the winning percentage is six eighty
for the six games they have left left left, which
include two games against the Eagles Arny and two games
against the Washington Commanders. So they've got four divisional games
(03:46):
left and only one game against the team the Vikings
are in there too for the Giants, and one game
left against the Colts. So to one of your questions
you would ask in our pre show rundown uh, teams
that you think will struggle down the stretch, teams that
you think will roll down the stretch. I think that's
a pretty good indication with what's left on the schedule
for the Giants, and they got a really good chance
(04:07):
to be in that group that's gonna struggle down the stretch.
You know what's so funny about that, I think up
till now, they've had one of the easiest schedules I
think of of any team in the NFL. At least
it looked easy before the start of the season, when
you know we're deciding who can go from words the first,
but we'll see how they handle it down the stretch.
They can find themselves not making the playoffs. I think
the Jets and the Giants. Can you imagine they were
loving things in New York and all of a sudden
(04:28):
they went from two teams. I mean, you know, there
had been some deranged New Yorkers to going you mark
my words. Hey, this is Pet from from the Bronze,
and I'm telling you now, Jets and Giants in the
Super Bowl. Shut up, Pet. You know they had been
nuck leeds like that. Now both of them might not
even make the playoffs. For crying out loud, you know,
(04:50):
I don't I heard the promo in that last break.
Are people in New York like really defending Zach Wilson?
Like had that been a thing that was going on?
And I feel like I've probably taken too much sports,
but I feel like New York has like been consistently
killing Daniel Jones and Zach Wilson. But today I got
into it on on Twitter, on d M S and
(05:11):
on another show I was doing with someone that was like, yeah,
I beat fair. Daniel Jones doesn't have anything around him,
but so has has New York kind of started A
one A D and defend these guys for some reason
or I I don't know anybody. Am I losing my
mind here? I don't think I know anybody that's the
fifth of Zach Wilson except maybe a family member. Um
there's nothing I I find endearing about the guy. And
the seventy seven yards was just enough for me to
(05:33):
draw the line also and say that a matter of fact,
that not only was that enough to draw the line
that says Geradi here for the next game, that might
have been enough to say, you know what, he's just
not going to work out. I mean I probably knew
that even before the seventies seven yards. But um no,
I don't know anybody that's defending this guy. You can't.
You can't defend Chris Well a family member or maybe
(05:55):
a family member's mom. Hey you see what I did.
That's a record sum of you guys. You got all right,
very good. Um JP hits us up on Twitter and
rights after the Things Giving Day games, I know this.
Arnie's pick of the decade was gold to move over,
Todd Ferman three and oh on my NFL picks, but
(06:15):
I went oh and for in my college so I'm
didn't really like that. So are you seeing any other
picks of the decade potentially for you coming up this
weekend or no, I haven't in front of me. But no,
that was that was the one. You're gonna have one
of the special Yeah, you can only have one of those. Well,
(06:36):
I mean you know you're gonna forget this pick of
the deck. Well, no, you won't forget this one because
you got it right. Uh. And then one more here
real quick from Scottie. We were talking about the battle
between teams that are in a position with maybe a
veteran quarterback. Um in the Lions were the example. You're like,
all the Lions can't go get a rookie quarterback, that'll
set them back, Which it reminded you there for seven
(06:56):
football team, but in your mind you don't worry about
getting a young core to back. You maybe find a
veteran bridge. Right. Well, Scotty asks a very good question
on Twitter. Do you think Hindon Hooker is a guy
that could be a a fit. He'll miss a portion
of the off slash preseason anyway, let him learn and
rehab while you still have your veterans. So well, that's
(07:19):
a great point. Absolutely. Again, that goes back to what
you said, Yes, you could draft the quarterback like that,
but he's not going to play for like two years.
One year to get mentally and physically ready, and in
another year to just kind of learn. Maybe you learned
by the second year, but yeah, he's got some where
you have to do, so we could just sit and
learn and figure things out from there. You know, you
(07:40):
realize by the time the draft comes around, hidden Hooker
is gonna be twenty five years old. Like literally, he
turns twenty five on January, so it's he's not your
typical quote unquote rookie quarterbacks. So I like that idea.
By the way sidebar real quick on Hindon Hooker. I
still have him on my high He's been valid right now.
(08:01):
Should should I should? I not? Because not gonna win
the fact they lost, Yeah, he's not gonna win it,
but he should still be on the ballot. I guess.
I mean if he was, you get three Yes, I
was gonna say, if you know, if you were gonna
take four or five people to New York, he might
be one of them. I'm at least I think he
would if he wasn't hurt but um, yeah, he at
least he deserves that type of respect, that's for sure. Yeah,
(08:22):
you get three on your ballot, But I do think
that more than anything else, Arnie, the uh, the bottom
line is he is, He's pretty he's pretty interesting, right
with what Hindon Hooker has been able to do this year,
because you've got to have Caleb Williams on your ballot
with what he's doing at USC unless he has a
five interception performance or something, um, and then let's see
(08:45):
what would be the other one. Maybe c J Stroud. Uh,
maybe if Blake core M does something big this weekend,
he can re enter the chat a bit. Um. Some
people were trying to make a campaign for Bejean Robinson,
but I mean in the biggest game this year against
TCU for Texas, he didn't do anything. Um. So I
think it's I think you're looking at maybe what three
or four guys that should be in this mix right now,
and I can't what about Max Duggan at tc and
(09:10):
what he's done. I feel like we're you don't have
to dig too much to find Heisman candidates right now.
About Hooker though, is that a detriment doom? Is his
age or is that a plus by some teams. I
don't know. I don't really know. Yeah, you know, I don't.
That's a good question because I'm sure there's gonna be
(09:30):
a stat that pops out where someone will say by
the time he's drafted, he'll end up being younger than
a Joe Burrow or something of that nature. Though Joe
Burrow does turn twenty six here in a couple of weeks,
So you're trafting into nookre for a freshman or first
year in the NFL. Uh, and Joe Burrow is entering
what his third year in the NFL, and you've got
(09:50):
a twenty five year old rookie by the time the
season rolls around. It's a good question. I think it
would be case by cakes. I think in a situation
like Detroit that might be interesting because you're not rushing
him to play and you can take your time. I'm
also curious more than anything else, and this is really
getting in the weeds, So maybe I need to eject
from this segment quickly because it could become real draft
(10:11):
and nerd talk. I'm just intrigued by how teams view him, right,
is he gonna be a second day pick. Are they
gonna look at him as someone who needs to be
in a specific kind of offense because he failed two
other player I'll rephrase that he didn't do as well
as he did at Tennessee as he did his other
two stops. So is it, you know, a specific type
of offense? So that's probably too far. I'll be intrigued
(10:34):
to see how his NFL draft stock is evaluated. No,
I agree with that also that that that's a good
point out there. There's gonna be a lot of stuff
his age um, you know, is he a certain offensive
type that's gonna fit into one certain offense? There's gonna
that's gonna be one of the intriguing things about him
and where he's gonna go, That's for sure. It's already
in plank on a Fox almost at Fox Football Sunday,
(10:55):
because I'm so used to it on a Fox Football Friday.
And of course, as always, we come to you from
the tire rack dot Com studios. Tire rack dot Com
will help you get there an unmatched selection, fast free shipping,
free road hazard protection and over tin thousand recommended installers.
Tire rack dot Com the way tire buying should be
so already. Here's my question for you going into tomorrow,
(11:17):
knowing that the bevy of what I say is big
time matchups, you only care about one game? Are you
rooting for absolute chaos? Do you want this to be
a mess whenever we're headed towards championship weekend with the
conference championships? Or are you wanting it to be clean
and easy for the playoff committee? What is Arnie span
You're truly rooting for chaos? There's no clean and easy
(11:39):
about me any any which way is possible? Um But
then again, it's not like, I mean, what's gonna happen
if Michigan loses? Are they definitely gonna be out? Is
that the way this thing is going to work? What's
gonna happen in Ohio State loses? Um Man? I would
love for TCU to lose. I I just I'm just
hoping they get tripped up along the way and then
what happens if if USC doesn't finish things out against
(12:00):
like No Tre Dame, then it's really gonna be white.
Is that how you're gonna put in Alabama? If all
those things happen, Is that the way it's gonna work?
Or what? Okay, I want to Alex, can you queue
up Wednesday night show so we don't have to do
this again here on Friday night? Why are you rooting
against TCU? What? What? What is it about TCU that
(12:21):
you don't like? There are three fans they have bored
they have a decent fan base. Somebody's gonna take that
there today? Are you blank? You? Come on? Man? Come on? What?
What they got more fans in Arizona. You're begging to
(12:43):
get into their conference. You're sitting here knowing that the
Pack twelve is doomed and you're like, gosh, get us
into a big twelve. So what is so unlikable, unwatchable,
unbearable for you when it comes to TCU. It's not
that they're unbearable or unlikable. If you're just asking me,
what's the four teams I want? I wanted to see Georgia,
Ohio State, Michigan and USC and if one of them
(13:05):
has to be eliminated, Um, you know I don't want
to see TCU in there. I'd rather go ahead and
get an l s U and there are find another
way for Alabama to get in there. Um. I'm not
big on Clemson, but they certainly deserve to be in
the talk. So that I just want to see like
a big USC team in there. And if you say
I'm wrong about that, you can take that up with Colin.
(13:25):
I guess is what I'm saying. Yeah, No, I I
heard his take on what separates out bam, and I
guess they're lost to Texas? Is are there? Win against
Texas is the greatest thing ever? But TCUs went over Texas.
I guess doesn't matter. Um, here's the thing, more than
anything else, watch TCU. All right, take your stupid biased
blinders off and sit and watch them play. They're a
(13:48):
good football team. They're a fun football team, Max Duggan,
and listen, you're making me support something that I don't
feel like I want to support. But I'm going to
their quarterback. What's their back up to start to see?
And he started three previous years and he wanted back
and now he's a Heisman candidate. Quentin Johnston is a
(14:08):
top ten pick in the NFL drafted wide receiver. All
the receivers are beasts, like six three and above. Ken
Dre Miller is an absolute freak at running back and
they hit you. They've knocked five starting quarterbacks out this season.
They are a wagon on defense, Arnie. I challenge you
to sit and watch them next week in the Big
(14:30):
twelve championship game and come away still complaining. I'm not
telling you that anyone's gonna beat Georgia this year, because
that's on another Georgia did to Oregon. Just get two
saconds two seconds. Dude, You've got four hours on Sunday
and three hours on Sunday night. Can I just finish this? Um?
Look at what Georgia did to Oregon to start this
season and how everyone was just losing their mind over
(14:53):
Oregon as a season progressed Oh bo Nicks, and they
bounced back. But what happened when they went up against Georgia.
If you say Georgia would be blow them out, Georgie
is blowing out pretty much everyone in college football right now.
So if that's gonna be your your comparison, then we
just need to go ahead and crown Georgia because they're
on another level right now. Dude, you would have so
much fun watching TCU. It's a good football team just
(15:15):
because you don't know them. No, that's not the point.
I've seen a bunch of TCU guys. But if they
played Georgia, I have Georgia winning seventeen. So, um, you've
had Georgia playing anyone, you have them winning seventeen. Who
do you not have Georgia pears other than Arizona? No? Anyway, Well,
you know what I think Michigan over No, stop just
(15:37):
kidding about that. I think Michigan. Have you seen Michigan
try to throw the football? What are you you saying
that they wouldn't be able to stop? Georgia wouldn't even
be close. You say Georgia would run away over Michigan.
I mean, hold on, if just I had some evidence
of what would happen when Georgia and Michigan played in
the fourth if just there was Oh, that's right, they
(15:59):
played cheer and the four team playoff, and what happened?
How about? You know what? How about if we just
say Michigan is like Kentucky. Well, how did Kentucky do
against Georgia. Georgia tech shut him down? Our Georgia shut
him down? Yeah? Sixteen and six? Do they win the game?
(16:20):
What was the final score when? What was the final
score when your beloved in Michigan Wolverines played george in
the four team playoff last year. I don't remember the
final score on that one. Of course, you know, because
it's not convenient to your argument. Georgia is on another level. Yes,
you're gonna have games every now and then, the team's
play them close. It happens. But when it comes to
(16:44):
prime time, when it comes to the playoffs, they're going
to kick the absolute ever loving s out of you.
Final score last year in the playoffs Georgia thirty four,
Michigan eleven. With that mighty one and thirty one acting
yards from the Michigan Wolverine. Stop it. You have to
accept that george is just on another level from everyone else,
(17:06):
and if you compare them, if you get in the
mindset of trying to compare them, it's like comparing every
person on the planet to a supermodel or every guy.
To give me a good looking dude, I used to
be fabio, but I don't think we can use that anymore.
So you tell me that, I think I think that's
kind of fat. Who's the best matchup for Georgia. Then
in the fourteen playoff? Who would give them the best? Alabama? Yeah, yeah,
(17:29):
you're probably right about that. Alabama, They absolutely are Georgia
is gonna win the national championship again. Don't give me USC.
I like USC. I love Caleb Williams Stetson bid it
with throw for four hundred yards. They're not gonna be
able to stop. You know what. You know what, I'll
add enough. I think Ohio State. I think Ohio State
(17:51):
could play with Georgia. The problem with Ohio State is
where are they healthy? Right now? Right they're kind of
dinged up. But before we can talk about Ohio State
and George Arnie, we've got to get Ohio State past Michigan.
That is that has been the uh. The team up
north has been UH, I get anchor around their neck
for the last three hundred and sixty five days. And
(18:13):
now you come into this game. You've got injuries galore
from Michigan. You've got injury glore, injuries glore for Ohio State.
But guess who's not injured? C J. Stroud. I know
you got your picks coming up later on, but you
sound like a guy that's going with Michigan in this game.
I'm taking the points, so I think it's too many points.
You know, I thought that was disrespectful and even with
(18:33):
the injuries, seven and a half. I thought it was
gonna be like three and a half four when the
line came out. That's why I was a little shocked
about that. I think that might be pretty spot on.
But when we come back, I'm gonna give you a
couple of nuggets on that, and I'll find a magical
way to get your beloved Crimson tied into the playoffs.
They're a great team, uh with with great talent. There
(18:54):
are only two losses this season are on dramatic situations.
Right Tennessee the dramatic drive in the field goal that
knuckled over the goal post. L s U goes for two.
Uh l s U goes for two. Right. L s
U also lost by thirty to Tennessee when they played
them at home four weeks earlier. So I just I
(19:15):
love Alabama and I'm anti them still being in the mix.
But Arnie, when we come back, I'm gonna find a
way to get the Crimson tied in the playoffs. And
it's not as hard as you might think. We'll get
into it next. On Fox Sports Radio, be sure to
catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike
harmon weekdays at ten pm. Eastern seven pm Pacific Sarnie
(19:35):
and Plank sitting in for Jason and Mike on Fox
Sports Radio as we come to you live from the
tire rack dot Com studios. I had to mention this
real quick, Arnie, Are you so did your son ever
play high school football? Or was he hockey all the time? No,
hockey all the time. I wouldn't let him play football.
You wouldn't let him play football. No, that's not going
to happen. Oh my god, tough, hardcore, hard nose from
(19:59):
the Sun play football. Wanted to play running back, and
I go, well, that's the easiest way to break your
arm or your leg or your knee cap. No, no, no, no, yeah,
you better just stick with hockey. That And besides, he
was he wasn't big enough. And we were we were
in Texas to you know those guys are in Texas.
I mean there was a twelve year old kid twice
my size, I'll living next door to us. I said, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
(20:23):
all right, Well, at least it now that you've explained yourself,
that makes more no more sense. I was like, I
hear about big bad Arnold who was on the mean
streets of Queens or wherever you grew up, Bronx whatever,
um Rocks Queens who twenty I'm kidding. I'm kidding. I'm kidding. Uh.
And you wouldn't let your son play football, But if
you were worried about its hockey future, that makes a
(20:45):
little bit more exactly. Well, I wouldn't let him playing
if you didn't play hockey, that's for sure. Well. I
bring this up because in my beloved state of Oklahoma,
tonight we had the state semifinals and there was a
sick overtime game, six overtimes that took place tonight. Congratulation
(21:06):
to the metropolis of Owasso, Oklahoma listening in on thirty
the buzz, I believe in Tulsa UH of the Fox
Sports Radio affiliate fifty to forty seven. How about that
for scoring over time. I didn't think that's where you
were gonna go. I thought when you were bring up
high school football, you're gonna bring up that article I
said about arch Banning. Dad. He had an awful Uh.
(21:28):
You know, there's a hole. As we welcome you back
to UH Fox Sports Radio. High school recruiting talk coming
up after the bottom of the hour. We'll find out
who got fomed wear. But no, no, it's funny because
Arnie sent me a note from out Kick I think
it was, and it was an article about arch Manning
struggling in the state and the state playing the state
championship game. Right, you realize there's like this whole we're
(21:51):
really getting deep in it. There's this whole recruiting subculture
that thinks that arch Manning isn't all that and he's
getting the height because his last name is ending. Uh
you know how there's Q and on they call it
arch and not And basically it's like you just spell
this smith that he's great. But high school playoffs, you're
all good luck. As you guys continue, we will cover
(22:13):
it less and less. You're on Fox Sports Radio, Okay, Um,
can I kind of one thing on because I'm just
I'm so triggered by it. The coward promo that's like
padding Alabama on the back for playing Texas and uh
scolding TCU for playing Charlton State. You know, if you
(22:33):
scroll down on the Alabama schedule, Arnie, yes they went
to Texas, but you know who else went to Texas
and played a football game this year? TCU and TCU
beat Alabama are Texas by more points in Alabama did also,
if you scroll down on Bama schedule a little bit more,
did you happen to catch who Alabama beat last week?
(22:54):
Did you catch you that big time nonconference matchup was
for Alabama last week? Forget off the top of my head.
But they didn't. They got to a big weed that
didn't score like anything in the second half or something
like that. It was Austin p Austin P. So if
we're gonna sit here and try to sell Alabama as
(23:15):
a playoff team because they played Texas and dismissed TCU
because they played Tarleton, we're completely ignoring the dog that
was the rest of Alabama's nonconference schedule. I mean, come on, man,
we're gonna sit here and ignore the fact that they
played an FCS opponent. Give me a break. But there
(23:35):
is a way, and it's a very easy way, Arnie,
that Alabama can get into the four team playoffs. It
doesn't even need to be crazy casts. Are you ready
let it? I don't. Everyone is like, well, Georgia has
gotta lose, no, no, no. As as a matter of fact,
I think Georgia has to win to ensure this because
I my opinion, George is in regardless unless somehow, um
(24:00):
they give me a great Georgia Tech football player, Calvin Johnson.
If Calvin Johnson is resurrected and they need about eleven
of them, maybe Georgia Tech can beat Georgia. But outside
of Georgia getting beat by Georgia Tech, George is in
the playoffs. They're they're in the four team playoffs, so
they're in. Let's go ahead and eliminate l s U
with a win. And honestly, let's be real, Arnie, Um,
(24:23):
Ohio State or Michigan's getting in. So you're picking Ohio
State to win this game? Right? No, Well, I'm taking
Michigan plus the points. I think it's an upset, but
that's beside the point. You're right the winner we'll get
in there. So you're right about that. So you're taking
Michigan on the money line. Yes, So you're picking Michigan
to win the game. Yes, Okay, uh so let's go
(24:47):
ahead and then and take Michigan. Fine, just for that sake,
maybe Ohio State has a conversation if TC you loses
to Kansas State in the Big twelve championship game, even
if it's close, they're out. And all USC has to
do is lose one of its final two games and
they're out. Arnie, A two loss Arkans, Arkansas, listen to me,
(25:09):
A two loss Alabama and a one loss Clemson in
a national winning the a c C if they go
ahead to win it. You don't. I don't even think
you need Clemson to lose in the a c C Championship.
I think Alabama. You know, I'm sat here and I've
alread they're out there, out there, out but as you
start putting, it's not far fetched at all. Right. In fact,
(25:32):
I'm sitting here today and I've spent so much time
tonight trying to sell you guys on TCU. I wouldn't
be surprised at all if Kansas State beat him in
two weeks, if Kansas State gets in the Big twelfth championship,
which is why I kept saying, I think Alabama could
be not surprised even there. And of course you just
you know, belittle me and knocked me down. And three
weeks ago it was ridiculous. Three weeks ago, whenever Tennessee
(25:53):
was still sorry, I was right again. I'm sorry I
was right again. And you have to understand. I keep
telling metad of the have not telling you that three
weeks ago. It's even possible for you layman out there,
but it wasn't impossible for me. I I see things ahead.
I'm good at that stuff, and I was telling you
back then, watch out, Alabama can still do that. You
(26:15):
didn't believe me. You mocked me. You didn't add it
that tasa that Tennessee was gonna lose to South Carolina?
Did you? I didn't add that one there, right because
that's the only way Alabama is alive in this right
now is because Tennessee lost to South Carolina. So did
you have that in there? Absolutely? Of course stop it? Okay.
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
(26:37):
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific. Scotty, I love this idea, but it's just
not reality, Scotty writes. If everyone in front of Tennessee
takes els they've got to get in, they should be
in ahead of Bama regardless. Head to head has to
matter period. Here's the other thing. Injuries matter too. Yes,
(26:59):
he's not the same team without handon hooker. Now, if
your backup quarterback goes out and throws for four hundred
yards and four touchdowns against Vanderbilt. Maybe that opened some
eyes tomorrow, but I'm sorry with with Hooker going down
and with South Carolina being well unfortunately as bad as
they were going into that game. They were ranked at
one point in this season, but got smoked by Missouri
(27:20):
at home at homecoming. Yeah, I just I can't find
a path. Aren't as much as I would like to
to still consider Tennessee in that mix, even though they
did beat Alabama. I didn't know if you were saying
that they didn't want to take Tennessee because they no
longer had Hooker, or that Tennessee was no way going
to be able to find their way back up to
it because they didn't have Hooker. I didn't know which
way you were going on that. Well, I think they're
(27:40):
both kind of the same, right. Oh so wait a minute,
you know what, Well, no, it isn't, because if Tennessee
was trending up there and was right there like at TCU,
are you gonna tell you not take Tennessee they don't
have their quarterback? Just kind of like I said, I
don't want to take TC you because I don't think
they have as much luster as USC. Are you playing
that game now? Aren't a big boy? I have no
(28:02):
idea what you're talking about right now. I don't think
you're making any sense at all. Tennessee lost their starting
quarterback and lost to South Carolina. TCU was undefeated, and
it makes me a trophy winner, our candidate quarterback. What
the hell are you even trying to? My point is
if if if Tennessee was up at number four, you're
told me you didn't want to take them because their
quarterback got hurt. And I'm saying that should make a difference.
(28:23):
If they deserve it, they deserve it. I hate when
they do that at n C double A basketball when
the team's on the bubble, go, well, we don't know
if we want to take it. Was that so and
so got hurt, They're not the same team. Doesn't make
a difference. They are what they are, what they deserve.
So it makes me seem that you wouldn't take Tennessee
if they were up there at number four because their
quarterback was out. It's irrelevant they lost the game that
(28:43):
he went out in Arnie. No, but I guess I'm
not making my point where you're not understanding what I'm saying,
then forget about it, I because I'm just trying to
say that the same reason why I don't want TCU
into the four is the same reason you wouldn't want
Tennessee without their quarterback if they were deserving. But they're not.
Oh geez, it's an analogy for crying out out and
(29:04):
work with me a little bit here, literally, but it
sucks as an analogy. I mean, if any of that
made sense to any of you guys, help us out
a stinking I just want to play, you know what.
I can understand that because Einstein used to only makes
sense to himself too. That's kind of like when I
said Alabama can still make it and you guys had
no idea what the hell I was talking about. Maybe
it takes three weeks for it to catch up to
(29:26):
you guys. Maybe three weeks that college football season will
be over and maybe two of the teams in front
of them will have soul crushing losses to eliminate them.
Oregon was also in front of them when you were
yelling that out too. I don't even think I can
say I get where you're going on this, But you're trying.
You don't want t see you in these playoffs because
you're not. You don't get it, and that's fine. I'm
(29:50):
not telling you that. I'm just telling you you're missing out.
It's a comin coward online to ask him if he
doesn't get it, please college coward is patting Alabama on
the back for playing Texas close when t see you
went there and beat him. And he's chastising TCU for
Tarlton State and building up Bama when they just played
Austin Pace. So you take that for what it's worth.
But I I don't understand Tennessee was worthy and deserving
(30:13):
when they were a one lost football team. One loss
was to Georgia, they lost his second game, and then
losing that second game, they lost their quarterback. I don't
know how you can make any comparison on that to
TCU deserving to be in or not. My analogy wasn't
they didn't lose that second game, And I don't think
I expressed that to you, So I think you didn't
quite understand. If they didn't lose that second game and
(30:33):
Hindon Hooker went out, they're still gonna be at five
behind an undefeated tcut. Yeah, but it makes me sound
like people wouldn't want Tennessee and just based on the
fact that Hooker was out, and that's wrong. If they're
up there at number four or number five, they still
deserve it. You don't just say because their quarterback is
out there that you don't take them that That was
my point. If Caleb Williams goes out for USC and
(30:55):
they still win, are they a top four team? If
they were the top four team and then he went
out and then no, they win this weekend and Caleb
Williams goes out, that factors in Arnie. It absolutely does.
They're not the same team without him, just like Tennessee
isn't without in and Ookre. But but it's gonna be
(31:16):
fascinating to see, you know, if something like that were
to happen, because I don't think we've had anything like
that in the playoffs. What we had Ohio State have
the quarterback situation the very first year UH and card
L Jones came in and they ended up being a wagon.
They were impressive. But I don't think we've had to
deal with this. It would be fascinating to see if
they would do it, Like the Basketball Committee So what
(31:37):
do you say you would move USC up? If they
lost their quarterback and TCU and l s U lost,
a USC wouldn't be number four. You know, I'm not
following you there. I just would be curious to see
how the playoff committee would handle it. That would be
a bunch of one lost teams, uh that were there
and one and and all of them might still be
conference champions. So if you're factoring in that your Pikesman
(31:57):
Trophy candidate could be out, I'll Tennessee. I think that
goes into the decision making process. I really do. But
unfortunately for Tennessee, it's it's not gonna matter and it's
not a factor. And I hope that we don't have
any injuries and end up affecting the four team playoff.
Injuries will definitely affect Ohio State and Michigan when we
come back. We'll dive into that next year. On Fox
(32:18):
Sports Radio, be sure to catch live editions of The
Jason Smith Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern,
seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I
Heart Radio app. Alright, It'sarney in Plank on a Friday
into a Saturday. The final Saturday of the regular season
of yeah, yeah, it sucks, but in the same vein,
(32:45):
it's exciting because we get into playoff conversations, we get
into the stretch run in the NFL, and as always
we get to tell you about tiraq dot com, which
is the most exciting thing of all because we come
to you live the entire rack dot com studio. I
found one person on Twitter that god what you were saying,
and I still don't think they understand it. Uh pro
(33:08):
far no good. Who I'm going to hire as my translator?
Um at Happy for Life seven. He's been a he's
been to do. It's taking some shots at me before.
But writes Arnie Is, i'mplying you wouldn't want a top
four Tennessee team if they were top four to make
the playoff if Hooker couldn't play. Yes, it makes sense
to him, and it makes sense to me. The only
didn't make sense to you. So no, no, no, no,
(33:30):
Here's why it didn't make sense because you're saying, oh, well, Tez,
I don't understand how that has anything to do with TCU. Well,
just's where like you're blowing my mind. It's like, what
are you even talking about this has nothing to do
with TCU. It's just keeping Tennessee out because they lost
their quarterback has nothing to do with how good they
are and what in me. Keeping TCU out has nothing
(33:50):
to really do and how good they are. It was
more about the blue bloods and stuff like that. That
was That was the analogy I was trying to make, riz.
But I guess I didn't do a very good job. No, no, no, you.
Keeping TCU out is a you and elitist days that
doesn't want TCU in this four team playoff. Colin Coward
(34:12):
online to please come on now? Is that all your
is that? I mean, I can give you like ten
other people, so you can quit trying to name drop
all right, but I just want to gosh, I want
to quit. I want to quit. I really want to quit.
On Monday, I was thinking about it on Wednesday. Now
I'm back to where I think I want to quit again. Yeah,
Paul Fine bomb goes on ESPN and it's like, I mean,
(34:34):
we won't be watching the Big twelve Championship game, idiot,
it's on your network. Eight million people watch the Big
twelve Championship Game. Last year, a hundred thousand people watch
first take. I don't think you're the one that should
be the falling at what you're not gonna watch to
do your job. So I just I guess I don't
understand this hate for TCU. It makes those It's a
(34:54):
good football team, man, it's a great They're undefeated. The
Big Twelve is a ball. It's conference. This year, you
don't have a beast. You don't have OU in Texas.
You have a beast in TCU. You have a good
Kansas State team. And when it's not the teams, could
you imagine one year of like Villain, not Villanova, Vanderbilt
was really good in the SEC, people would be like, gosh,
(35:15):
what's wrong with the SEC? It's like Vanderbilt's Tannano. It's
just it's what people aren't used to. So I I
just tell you'll have fun watching TCU. I don't think
you sat and watched the whole game of the first
of all, I saw that whole Texas game, and I've
a couple of my picks. If you remember correctly, was
the TCU over I think it was TCU over Baylor.
I can't remember all the games off the top of
(35:36):
my head, but um no, not not true at all.
I mean sounds like it. Sounds like it. So anyway
tomorrow Michigan Ohio State one of the great rivalries in
college football, but it comes down to injuries. Now. I
know that you don't like getting too much into the
xs and ohs, but I'll say this. The latest report
(35:58):
tonight is that blay Korum looks like he's going to play.
Here's the update that we have in the Heisman right
um X rays were done at half of the game
last week and it found no structural damage. In fact,
at halftime of the Michigan Illinois game, Arnie he was
cleared to return to the field. Now he did, he
(36:22):
won't ready to go right, so they sat him down
there like rest up. He didn't practice most of the week.
So they think that the rest is going to be
good and Corn will be ready to go. I you know,
there's everyone psychologist got through and you can make it. Well,
there's a point when you're running back that if your
knee is hurt, you can't do it. You just can't go.
(36:45):
Records earlier this week that he wasn't gonna play, or
that he didn't think he was gonna be able to play,
or was I wrong on that. No, no, no, it's
it's it's been out there that he's not gonna play
by a lot of people. But he spoke to receiver
to um. He spoke to reporters this path sast week
at a Turkey giveaway that he was doing. He said
his knee is fine, it will get better, and he
vowed to return. When he was asked if he would
(37:07):
play against the buck guys, he said, I will be there.
So it's but here's a funny thing. It's not only
Blake Corehum, but it's there other running back, Donovan Edwards,
who hasn't really been a guy we've seen since their
victory over Nebraska, didn't even dress the following week against Illinois.
So you have your two best running backs out. But
(37:28):
I'm sorry, in kind of an injury wave right now,
and we don't even know what running back is healthy
for Ohio State. I know we're already got the time.
Why do you think dead in the line is only
seven and a half, especially with the game in Columbus
in the way you're describing it should be like, because
all those things I said about Blake Korum and the
Michigan injuries, Ohio State is dealing with their running backs,
(37:52):
and obviously we haven't seen Jackson Smith and Jigba hardly
at all this year, so it'll be fun. Well, it'll
be a game time decision, I think, on all those
running backs, but in Arnie's Peaks will really go in
depth on that bad boy. All right. When we come
back NFL Week twelve, Who's up, Who's down? It's Fox
