Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:28):
Thanks to Pete Futech for joining us a little while
ago bringing down everything in college football. We have a
huge college football story coming your way in about twenty minutes.
Also big breaking story out of the NFL coming up
in a few minutes. But part of our Football Friday
as it is every Friday night, we look at all
the big games in the NFL. And really, I mean
(00:50):
we previewed the Browns and the Raiders earlier in the
show because it's shador Sanders start. I mean, congratulations. We
may not do it again. It may be the only
time we ever break down Brown's end or Raider game
the next couple of years. But we did it, and
we may do it again later on in the show.
But Shadoro Sanders only gets one NFL start by Carbon,
we gotta make the moment well.
Speaker 2 (01:10):
But that's the thing, right For once we will be
paying attention to two squads that really give us no
reason to. I mean, we watched the Raiders on Monday
Night Football because they were there and which gave us
lots of content on Gino Smith in an appreciation moment
for Max Crosby, but also reminding folks he chose to
stay there. People, he took the money. I would too,
(01:34):
but just don't feel bad for him. He made a choice.
As for Cleveland the other side, Miles Garrett great defense, disruptive, destructive,
he decided winning didn't really matter either because he accepted
a long term deal with the Cleveland Browns. I think
we should just settle it by those two guys fighting
at midfield and just be okay.
Speaker 1 (01:56):
I'm with you there. I think I think that's pretty
good and.
Speaker 2 (01:59):
Gina can be the cornerman. But other than that, I
got nothing.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
So don't worry if you miss any of that. Again,
our Best of Podcasts goes up right after the show
is over. Wherever you get your podcast from, just search
Jason Smith and Mike Harmon. We told you who's gonna
win that game? And how many big play Shador Sanders
is going to have against that Raider but in a row.
But on Sunday, the first place team in the NFC North, Yeah,
(02:30):
facing another prove it game. And if I told you
a year ago today, when I say first place team
in the NFC North, we'd be talking about the Chicago Bears.
You'd have told me I'd be crazy. But I told
you the era of good feeling was coming to Chicago, Mike.
I told you was coming. I told you, and I
know you're you've been scarred by years of bareness. But
(02:53):
I told you it was coming. And look where we are.
Here we are, we're enging in on Thanksgiving and the
Bears are in first place.
Speaker 2 (03:00):
I told you, winners of seven of their last eight.
Are they pretty? No? Are they style point worthy?
Speaker 1 (03:07):
No?
Speaker 2 (03:07):
Is it reminiscent of the nineteen eighty three Chicago White
Sox winning ugly a very nice slogan, yes, But dramatic comebacks,
dramatic finishes, big plays by your second year quarterback, and
growth in terms of his decision making all for positivity.
Now this week they play with no linebackers. I think
(03:28):
they've actually outlawed the position all starting linebackers are out
for this game against Pittsburgh. But you want to know
what get in is They're.
Speaker 1 (03:36):
Gonna run a seven four linemen and seven defensive backs.
That's what they're gonna run.
Speaker 2 (03:41):
No, this is an interesting, uh interesting one, right. Not
often do you just say hey, who's in or out
for the lineback and go, no, they're all out. They're
they're all gonna miss this. They're all so everybody's missing,
everybody's hurt, and they're already banged up in the secondary.
So this gets a little bit curious. I mean it
helps the fact that Aaron Rodgers can throw the ball
beyond about eight yards. By that, you know, one, one
(04:03):
thousand and two one thousand, the ball's got to be
out of his hand kind of prospect. And they're gonna
be dodgy about this up until game time as best
they can. But certainly what we are paying attention to
is a team in the Steelers that's still very much
alive at six and four. Are you believing in a
long term No, it's like every Pittsburgh team we've seen
(04:26):
since Ben Roethlisberger walked away, and they're gonna limp towards
a five hundred finish or or just above, and then
we all celebrate Mike Tomlin for having them limp along
for the Bears. Yeah, it's it's been an uneven, uneasy ride,
and depending on who you listen to, this guy's still falling.
But you're seven and three. The rest of the division
(04:49):
has plenty of problems, and people are willing to pay
up to four hundred and twenty three dollars for get in.
That's right, Pittsburgh. It's a nice easy drive from Chicago.
You can make that drive and now here you are here,
you are, leave.
Speaker 1 (05:03):
Early in the morning, get out there, you get out
there for the game. You're all good.
Speaker 2 (05:06):
I mean they're saying, well, Aaron Rodgers as ownership shares,
so I mean, we're gonna get his best effort of
the year, aren't we.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
You like how he's backing away from that. The last
couple of days he said, no, no, I'm not with the
Packers anymore. This is all new. It's like, oh, now
that I'm on a team that's not gonna protect me
and I'm not as good. Yeah, I don't want to
talk any smack and say I own you like I
did in the past, not I'm not gonna do that anymore. Yeah,
I see through Aaron Rodgers game.
Speaker 2 (05:30):
I see comp Here's the thing, though, the bulletin boards
are still fresh with all of that that ink of
the past. There's nothing that you're gonna say now and
be all complimentary. I really like the cut of Canleb Williams,
Jim No. I love Ben Johnson. He's fun to watch
his offense. You could say all of that flowery language.
(05:51):
It doesn't erase twenty years of history, man.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
And I'll tell you what, It's not going to matter,
because the Bears are gonna win this game. Okay. The
Bears feast on turnovers, right. Their defense is not great,
but number one in turnovers in the NFL. And Aaron
Rodgers is dinged up already. Whether he plays, whether it's
Mason Rudolph, whether it's Bradshaw, whether it's Cliff Stout, the
(06:16):
Bears are gonna get turnovers. And quite honestly, look, you
gotta stop hating on the Bears because the Bears are
a good team. They've won games anyway possible. If the
Chiefs winning games like the Bears, you would say, oh,
what a great job Patrick Mahomes is doing. Look at this,
pulling out games at the end. This is what champions do.
But the Bears do it and it's all they had
to rely on, pulling out a game at the end.
(06:37):
Now you make excuses who you want to make excuses for?
The Bears have won a lot of games, They're in
first place. Aaron Rodgers is hurt and ineffective, and you
can see this is where the downfall starts to Rodgers.
If he plays on Sunday, the offense should have little
trouble moving the football against the Steelers. Look, Jalen Warren
just came back to practice. He was dinged up as well.
(06:57):
This is going to be a huge, huge game for
the Bears. They're gonna win. Continue to prove it and
continue to prove the doubters wrong. The only thing I
can say, here's the only thing that frustrates me about
the Bears, is that you know, the Bears have become
like a like a lion's light or or a big
or or like the Chief's light in their heyday, where
(07:18):
you have no idea what weapon is going to have
the big day in fantas right, it could be Romandonsay,
it could be DJ Moore, Dj Moore could catch zero passes.
It could be DeAndre Swet, it could be Colton lovel,
it could be none of them. Like it's so unpredictable
every week who's gonna have a big week? But somebody does.
Every week you go back and say, Wow, what a
(07:38):
game for for the What a game for this play?
What a game for this player? What a game here?
What a game here? And the Bears offense is deep
with good enough weapons they get to win on Sunday.
Speaker 2 (07:47):
I'd say it when you're talking about from the fantasy purpose,
I mean Roman Donsay has had a couple of big
games that don't show up in the box score. Well
fantasy just ask us that's still salty until he actually
starts reading. And maybe you can see how people extole
the virtues of what his son's doing for other players.
(08:07):
But that's deeper NFL stuff. And even that clip the
Bears put up, it's like, hey, dad, and they're tapping
on the glass. Watch this, Watch what your kid's doing.
But he's got four of his last six games where
he's been more or less a bystander in terms of
targets and yardage. So tough to endorse from a fantasy
(08:27):
perspective there, Moning Guy has added some big games. He
and Swift. The run game has been immense up towards
the top of the NFL at this point, a top
five as we sit here, ready for Week twelve. But
it's a curious game. You know, we talk about the
plus sixteen turnover margin and that's leads all the NFL.
So I mean that that bodes well Pittsburgh sitting at
(08:50):
plus eight and you know one thing, Aaron Rodgers isn't
gonna give give you too many opportunities that way, but
you're not stretching the field. You can you can shore
and things up. I'm fearful of that middle of the
defense being hurt that you can feast with friar mouth
John Neus Smith and a little bit of gain well
maybe out of the backfield. But all of that to say,
(09:11):
you know, sure handed Dackling, they're gonna have to settle
for threes. So Bear should win this game at home
and at your point with the Kansas City Chiefs is
apt right. Last year we had to talk about it, right.
It was a year of living dangerously. Margin of victory
wasn't huge. We talked about it a little bit earlier
with how they're losing this year. Five games and they've
(09:32):
lost by a total of twenty two points. Those were
all games they used to win and historically have won.
Pulling it out of the fire right now, that's what
the Bears are doing. And each week it gets a
little cleaner between Ben Johnson, the communication of what he
wants and what he gets from Caleb Williams. Now the
schedule on the back end gets pretty pretty brisk and
(09:53):
pretty heavy. But for this week, big home spot against Pittsburgh. Yeah,
this is a very eminently winnable game.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
Elsewhere, let's stay in division because we have Minnesota and
Green Bay and now Minnesota has been in the ruor
mill all week that potentially this could be a destination
for Mac Jones next year. Look, we talked about mac
Jones last. Mac Jones and Davis Mills are going to
be at the top of the list of Bridge quarterbacks
for next year, right mac Jones hoping I can be
(10:23):
the next Geno Smith, the next Sam Darnald, because I've
shown that I can get it done in San Francisco.
I have a pretty good track record this year. I
can be that next Bridge guy. I was a first
round pick. I can be darnalded. I can be Geno Smith,
Davis Mills thinking the same thing a little bit shorter
amount of time, and C J. Stroud coming back next
week most likely, but Davis Mills has been pretty good
(10:44):
and maybe, okay, maybe next year I could be one
of those guys, one of those guys in the quarterback
of the Jets next year.
Speaker 2 (10:48):
I just know it.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
But it's so embarrassing for Minnesota that that we're even
talking about this, and it really shows you how inept
they might be in decision because you went from here's
Sam Donald, who shows up right? And again, I keep
going back Pro Bowl quarterback. You tried for years to
find guys. And maybe because Minnesota had success with Kirk
(11:12):
Cousins because they they bought him from the from Washington
and they paid. They gave eighty nine million dollars guaranteed
and that was the beginning of the full guarantees for quarterbacks,
and they had pretty good quarterback play. So they think, yeah,
we've had good quarterback play. We're just just gonna continue
for us. So yeah, we can kick Sam Donald to
the curb because we love JJ McCarthy, whoa, WHOA whoa
forty touchdowns are thirty five touchdowns four thousand yards? What
(11:35):
are you doing? You said, saying, okay, get and Sam
Donald is shown. I'm still that guy. I'm in a
great syst now I turn the ball over a lot
because I'm Sam Donald. But still we're winning one of
the best teams in the NFL and I got a
hundred million dollar contract. You booted me to the curb.
You booted Daniel Jones with the curb, who was having
a Pro Bowl season for the Colts, all because no, no, no,
we love a guy we have never seen play in
(11:56):
the NFL. And JJ McCarthy and now the fact that
you're seeing these rumors that hey, maybe they got to
go get somebody else in case JJ McCarthy stinks. Everybody
should be Everybody who was in on that JJ McCarthy
decision should be fired. Everybody should be. I don't care
what kind of coach you are. And look, they got
some great offensive minds here. O'Connell's a great coach. But man,
you decide to go all whoever was the let's stay
(12:19):
all in on JJ McCarthy. If he doesn't come through, man,
that's coaching. Mal Pratt you let two guys who turned
out to be Pro Bowl, all Pro type quarterbacks walk
out of the building. Now, you didn't know about Daniel Jones,
so I understand that. But still, if you gave him
the chit, you think he wouldn't be throwing touchdowns at
Justin Jefferson every week. I'm pretty sure he would. Right,
he had the weapons in Indianapolis, he has a weapons
(12:40):
in Minnesota, I think he would have been. Okay, the
one guy we know that hasn't done it so far
has been McCarthy. And now you're gonna go play green
Bay and a green Bay defense that is hungry, that
is playing well, and while they're very difficult to predict
each week, this is definitively an hour up week for
green Bay. They win this game and win it big,
and all of a sudden, Minnesota looks even worse decision
(13:02):
making than they have in the past.
Speaker 2 (13:03):
Yeah, I mean, I'd love to be a fly on
the wall of anything the wolf Will family Quasi Adopha
Mensa and Kevin O'Connell, if they get together on a
conference call to talk about the quarterback position. I want
those tapes. Yeah, I mean, the curiosity going through even
if you were to just franchised Sam and you talk
(13:24):
about the turnovers right now, Seattle leads the NFL with
twenty giveaways on the year. But if you got halfway
decent quarterback, you don't have to be good. I mean,
this is a six and a half point spread. There
is way too much talent on that Minnesota squad and
the Packers offense has been two hit or miss for
(13:44):
that point spread to be that big. That shows the
level of lack of respect, disrespect for what you're getting
out of JJ McCarthy right now. And it's only a
matter of time before all those high priced, high powered
offensive weapons are to chirp a little bit between Justin Jefferson,
Jordan Addison, Hockinson, go on down the line, because right
(14:06):
now they're just muttering and muddling through what is a
miserable experience because we see the misses right we watched it,
and I don't want to pick on Geno, I don't
want to pick on the early part of Davis Mills
from yesterday. I mean, you're missing guys by five yards.
That's what we're seeing with McCarthy with some regularity here,
(14:28):
And you didn't know what he would be after missing
a year of action because of the injury. So the
fact that you didn't have yourself protected there. Yeah, you
tried to get by with Wentz a little bit, but
that you had those guys leave your locker room and
still putting up numbers, still getting stuff done. As you say,
(14:48):
with Daniel Jones, you had no idea it would work
quite so well. But O'Connell the Stikeen. We've been waiting.
Stikeen's been waiting on a quarterback for a decade. Isn't
that how long it was since Captain Andrew Luck rode
into the night? Oh skims like get at this point right,
it's several years and several failed veteran quarterbacks and an
Anthony Richardson later that we're sitting here. But yeah, this
(15:12):
is one with the Packers' defensive feast, you'll have some
more Emmanuel Wilson alongside, waiting on the last iteration of
and acknowledgment of what Josh Jacobs is doing for the week.
But all of that, you've got a big spot here
divisional game that they need. Jordan Love hasn't been great,
won't need to be on Sunday.
Speaker 1 (15:33):
Exit up about a Fresca exit, swallowing down The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon more football

on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts, Fox.
Speaker 1 (17:10):
Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. I'm gonna ask man, we'll get to the
biggest story in college football coming up in a few minutes,
but this late breaking story on Friday Night, the forty
nine ers been looking for a boost. You know they're getting.
They got Brock Purdy back after a while trying to
stay afloat in the NFC West and you know, last
(17:32):
week we thought, hey, we could see the twenty one
day window for Brandon Ayuk open pretty soon. He's been
out since the middle of last year with that really
bad right knee injury. He hasn't played yet, but hey,
maybe this is the time now when they can open
up his window being on the pup list. Except the
window wasn't open. You're kind of wondering why, Like, Okay,
(17:53):
this is about the time he should be getting back
to playing. It's been a full year, he's been rehabbing
and getting ready. Now at the point where he is
not going to play for the forty nine ers again.
I have no doubt in my mind after this story
today he has done playing for San Francisco. Brandon Ayuk's
money has been voided for twenty twenty six because he
(18:15):
had not been meeting the requirements of his deal, which
means he was missing meetings, He was missing all sorts
of thing times to spend with the team. He was
not been around. Communication with him has been really bad,
so they avoided his guaranteed money for twenty twenty six.
(18:36):
League source talks about this on Friday. This has been
in contract alteration which's been around for a little while.
We're just getting word of this right now because apparently
this was done in training camp. They avoided all the
stuff eas twenty six because Brandon Ayuk wasn't coming to meetings,
wasn't around the team, There was no communication. Very frustrated
with the guy. So it's crazy that we didn't hear
(18:58):
about this until now, but now we're getting it. I
find it hard to believe that after voiding his money,
especially seeing where he's sitting right now, he's gonna come
back and play this year after his devastating injury. If
he's out of money for next year, the Niners are
done with him, right They're not voiding him this money
so they can resign him next year. He's not around.
(19:19):
He is done in San Francisco, and Iyuk as someone
who wasn't great the beginning of twenty twenty four, he
was okay, wasn't the guy he was in twenty twenty
three when he was a superstar. Then he signed a
big contract and not the last guy and certainly not
the first, not the last guy who all of a
sudden drove to the middle right because he wasn't great
the first seven weeks of last year. But he's still
(19:40):
that kind of talent, he's still terrific, but he's not
coming back. If you're Brandon Ayuk, you're not coming back
to say, well, if I come back here to risk
myself when I have no future here, why would I
do that? You're gonna let me go in the offseason.
Why am I coming back right? I could potentially get
hurt again. I'm just gonna sit out and I'll sign
with a new team next year. Maybe it's one of
those t year twenty five million dollar deals or something
(20:03):
like that where I get a certain amount of money
because of my talent, but I have to kind of
prove it. That's kind of what he's looking at. I mean,
I wouldn't come back if this is if it's that
bad and I'm not saying this this is all of
a sudden San Francisco doing bad things. But like, if
you've voided his money and you're still wondering if he's
gonna come back, I'm not coming back. You're done, You're done,
(20:23):
You're done with the guy. You're moving on at some
point in the offseason. He's not gonna play for the
forty nine ers again. He'll be a sought after guy
in free agency again, that kind of deal, kind of
a two yearsh twenty twenty five. Maybe that's where he's
gonna be at if he proves that he's healthy enough.
Because boy, when he is healthy and he is motivated,
he is some kind of player. Man. You see some
of the routes he runs where he's got defensive backs
(20:46):
on skates. Mean, that's where he makes all his he
made all his money, he made all his bones being
able to just separate from dbs within the first five
yards of the line of scrimmage. Like, he is that
kind of playmaker. And he'll be motivated, right, He'll be
motivated going into next season, saying, Hey, another big contract.
I'm still on the right side of thirty. So got
three years on the right side of thirty. So his
next team it might work for. But yeah, I can't
(21:07):
see him ever taking the field for San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (21:09):
Yeah, a lot of incentive laden deals. If I'm shopping
in the wide receiver market and looking at Brandon Ayuk,
I mean go back, he's just remembering a lot of
the data right as this story broke and going back
through the timeline, remember getting sent off because of the
wrong color shorts for a practice like they were like
these little mini the microaggressions. If we're gonna use some
(21:34):
of the terms that we've had for the last couple
of years, microaggressions in terms of media availability and being
around Leonard Hankerson is their receivers coach. You know that name,
he's thirty six.
Speaker 1 (21:46):
I bet you people think Leonard Hankerson is still in
the NFL. Isn't he still playing for Washington?
Speaker 2 (21:51):
Like Kenny lofton Roman center field, He's still out there somewhere,
maybe in a cornfield in Iowa, but he's out there somewhere.
But like all of these things, it's just crazy when
when you start going through the data points, right, four years,
one hundred and twenty million dollar deal almost traded to
multiple spots. Pittsburgh, New England were among those potentially wanting
(22:13):
to bring him on board, and even just in the
last week or so, you've had Shanahan addressing the yeah,
we're looking to open up the practice window, like totally
ignoring that all of this happened according to the athletic
and training camp. Like that's the thing that blows my mind.
We find out there's leaks for freaking everything in every
(22:34):
locker room, coaching staff, media buddy that they go out
for a drink with on the road whatever. Eventually an
anonymous source. We got no anonymous sources still today coming
into week twelve. This is insane.
Speaker 1 (22:48):
But as you said, if he's not been around the team,
not going to meetings, how are you gonna know if
he's not around. He's not around.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
But that's but that's the crazy thing. Like some of
the reports were that he had been at some of
the workouts and rehab and such, just hadn't been part
of the media sessions and parts open to the media.
So some conflicting data points there in terms of what
he's actually bought into and how much he's been around
(23:17):
the squad. But all of that to say, you've had
these public disagreements. He would have been a real shot
in the arm for the last seven weeks, five weeks,
four weeks whenever they could have gotten him in. After
the opening the twenty one day period, there's a big
chess piece off the board for the forty nine.
Speaker 1 (23:34):
Ers exit out about a Fresco exit swollen down there.
It is, so get ready, get your bids ready for
Brandon Ayuk in the office.
Speaker 2 (23:42):
It's amazing.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
We got the biggest story in college football on the
way in ninety seconds. But first let's find out what's
trending for man who's been called the Brandon ayuk a
Fox Sports Radio. Wow. Sometimes you don't know where he
is either.
Speaker 5 (23:55):
It's Steve to say, I knew it was going to
be something regarding the pocketbook. We've got the NBA's late.
Speaker 1 (24:01):
Game and kind of way we've said you away from
what's trendy because you're not wearing the right shorts either.
Speaker 5 (24:07):
At Goldon State, it is Portland in the lead over
the Warriors with about forty seconds left, one twenty two
to one eighteen, despite thirty five points from Steph Curry.
Everything else is final, including another Oklahoma City win.
Speaker 2 (24:20):
Remember when they were losing at Utah earlier.
Speaker 5 (24:22):
Tonight outscored him by thirty three in the second half.
Final score Thunder one forty four to one twelve, Denver
twelve and three. Now after a win at Houston won
twelve one oh nine, Nicola Jokic thirty four points. Phoenix
won despite forty one points from Anthony Edwards. Edge Minnesota
one fourteen one thirteen in Phoenix, Dallas and Miami, with
(24:45):

twelve but got a victory at Boston one thirteen to
one oh five, and college hoops number one per Due

and women's hoops number one Yukon defeated number six Michigan

a late basket sixty one fifty nine just four NHL games.
Bruins at LA still scoreless as they start the third period.
Buffalo a nine to three winner over Chicago, Minnesota won
five nothing at Pittsburgh, and Carolina was a four to
three winner at Winnipeg. The Jets MVP goalie Connor Hellibook
(25:27):
will have knee surgery Saturday and miss four to six
weeks to college football. There's a game on FS one tonight.
They've started the third quarter at UNLV Vegas, leading Hawaii
twenty four to ten. UNLV trying to go to nine
and two on the season. NC State beat Florida State
twenty one to eleven as the Seminoles committed four turnovers,
miss two field goal attempts. Florida State now two and
(25:50):
six in the acc Ole miss says. An announcement on
the future of coach Lane Kiffin will come in in
about a week after the rivalry game at Mississippi State Detroit.
Lyons tight end Sam Laporta is likely out for the
year after back surgery. Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow questionable for
this weekend. He's still on IR with a toe injury.
Quarterback Jackson dart To the Giants still out with a concussion,
(26:13):
so Jamis Winston will start again at Detroit. The Broncos
gave kicker Will Lutts a three year extension, and the
Bears will miss their top three linebackers against the Steelers.
Tremaine Edmunds, TJ. Edwards, and Noah Sewell each miss practice
all week due to injury. Pittsburgh quarterback Aaron Rodgers is
questionable with a fractured left wrist. He was limited in
(26:33):
practice Thursday and Friday.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve o. So in college
football tonight, we are starting to finally get a little
bit of clarity with the Lane Kiffin coaching situation.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
The last couple weeks, Kiffin's been rumored to be leaving
Mississippi for Florida, for LSU, maybe for the NFL. Sure,
and'll Miss wants some clarity. So they had a meeting
tonight and it was deemed that there would be an
announcement on Lane Kiffin's status the day after the egg Bowl,
(27:07):
which is next Friday, when they play Mississippi State, which
likely is going to be an ole Miss win and
they clinch a spot in the playoff. Now I say
likely because it's the egg Bowl rivalry. You never know.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Yeah, the record get together.
Speaker 1 (27:21):
It's a one loss ole Miss team and they've had
a they've had a terrific season. The reason for this
decision is because there were reports earlier this week that
ole Miss is like, hey, we want an answer or
you're not coaching the egg Bowl. It's like, okay, let's
everybody time out. Let's everybody. Oh no, let's everybody be
there'd be a bunch of little Fonsi's here and what's
Fonsie cool? Correct a mundo? So they have the meeting,
(27:45):
We're getting an announcement next Friday. All right, First thing
on this, Uh, I love the fact that Lane Kiffin
has just really embraced the I might go. I mean
I might stay, but I might go. He's not gonna lie,
he's not gonna say, God, I don't what to tell you.
I love it here and I am staying the rest
of my career. And then a day later, here comes
the van and packing up and leaving. Right. Look, he knows, right,
(28:08):
And I dig the fact that he is. That he's
basically letting you know without without saying that, Yeah, I
could stay. I love it. He's got a big contract
offer on the table that want to give him just
as much money as he would make potentially an LSU
or Florida, but he could also leave. And I like
the fact that it's not one of those all you
gotta be disingenuous and everything is behind closed doors. I
(28:30):
love the fact that that's what we're talking about, and
all misses handling it the right way as well, because
this is the era of poaching coaches in college football
and nobody really knows how to do it. Do you
get rid of your coach if he wants to go?
Do you make it impossible for him to leave and
make him stay?
Speaker 3 (28:46):
Like?
Speaker 1 (28:47):
How do you do this. We're in uncharted waters now
because this is what happens. Right once mel Tucker got
all that money from Michigan State, it was, hey, we
can buy anybody we want to. But Ole missus handling
it the right way. Okay, we know this is gonna happen.
This is how college football goes. And smaller schools are
going to be feeder schools for bigger schools, and whereas
another school will be a feeder school for Ole miss
Ole miss a feeder school for somebody else. And they said, okay,
(29:09):
here's the right thing. We want your decision. We're going
to have something day after the egg Bowl, right, that's
where we're at, and then we're the big thing is
going to be the decision the day after. But I
love that both sides are handling this the right way
because now in this era of college football, we gotta
have t shirts that say poaching coaches uh because it's
fun to say and it looks good on paper. This
is how things should be done a little bit more
(29:31):
out in the open because it's more of a business thing.
It's a more popular situation that everybody would just like
clarity on, and that way you can proceed with a
cooler head other than watching nil donors and schools get
upset behind closed doors because they're blind sided by news
they're not ready for.
Speaker 2 (29:48):
No, this is perfect because it's theft and eggs poaching coaches,
that's rights. We talk about poaching. You're stealing and you're
making eggs. So so here we are get your egg
McMuffin thing going. So I think you try to work
from a position of strength as best you can in
(30:08):
all scenarios. Right, and for old miss, they're trying to say, hey,
you've got it. We've built a program here with you. Right,
We've helped you build this. It's not all one. We've
got an infrastructure that seems to be working. With the
four double digit wins the last five years. Yes, you
get all the top line credit and all, but trying
(30:28):
to say, hey, we've now got something and we've had
some institutional learning in this process, so we can go
to the well if we need to, with Lane Kiffin
saying well, they're here, they're here. You send family on trips,
go house hunting and check out the areas. Where's the
new nearest movie theater? How many Starbucks per per capita
(30:49):
and all of those kind of things or insert your
favorite coffee shop. We had the big fry debate yesterday.
I don't want to go down those roads again. That
got really contentious and ugly in a lot of hurt
feelings and things were said that just can't be taken
back based on the crispiness or lack thereof a fry.
So I'm not gonna do that with coffee. But for
the idea of Lane Kiffin's like, yeah, there's a lot
(31:11):
of places I can go. Do I want a middling
to lower tier NFL job, because how many of those
come with a quarterback already installed? And not many? Right,
A lot of them are. Well, I might have a
guy I kind of like like the Giants, you might
like Jackson Dart, but you're already doing the math of
how many more games he's gonna play before he's either
hanging out at WWE events or going and you know,
(31:35):
signing autographs saying I was the old miss quarterback. So
all of that, right, So it's it's just the process.
And for Lane Kiffin, you know, really making sure to
emphasize I love my time here, I love my players here.
They're hanging out in the office while I'm doing interviews
and bringing them on camera. That really just strikes me.
(31:57):
It's not a here, let's pull them up on a
zoom call. Oh he's hanging out right here. What are
you doing? We might be playing chess? I don't know,
but it's for for Lane Kiffen. You're never gonna be
a how many bites of the apple do you get? Right?
And he's got another one here right. He's been the
hot coaching prospect multiple time, and right now it's white
hot with huge opportunities. I mean, the LSU offers reportedly
(32:20):
ninety to one hundred million dollars. Yeah, of course part
of that might be contingent on can they get out
of paying Brian Kelly?
Speaker 1 (32:27):
That is true. Yes, yeah, so they like, I want
to fire a guy. They fired a guy they fired
two weeks ago today, So I mean, at least they've
gotten around to that.
Speaker 2 (32:35):
Do you think do you think it was one of
those Hey, you know what, Blake, you just don't come
back on Monday? And then he didn't, you know, to
prove a point. But one side thought he was fired.
The other thought he was just taking a me day
for comrade heads to Bruce, taking a mee day. You
know what, I'm gonna work from home. I'll see on Tuesday.
(32:56):
Like but but they didn't say it, and so like
he went back to you is his key card?
Speaker 1 (33:00):
That did work?
Speaker 2 (33:01):
It's like, oh you actually wait, am I fired? I'm fighting?
Speaker 1 (33:05):
No, all right?
Speaker 2 (33:06):
The Stanza the play now.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Now, look the other part of it is this, if
there's an announcement the day after the egg Bowl, i
am sure he is leaving, because if he was gonna stay,
they're not gonna postpone this. They're not gonna go through
a whole week of practice with the college Football Playoff
hanging in the balance, only to find out that he's
the Oh I'm gonna stay. I guess what. So you
know he's leaving, and I'm sure what the The only
(33:30):
question is gonna be are they going to allow him
to stay before he leaves? And I'm sure they will.
That's why the egg Bowl is the big thing. I'm
sure they've told him you win the egg Bowl and
we're going to the College Football Playoff, you're staying all
the way through. Lose the egg Bowl, we don't go
to the College Football Playoff. You're done. So I'm sure
that's what the announcement's going to be because they know
(33:50):
we want to make sure we have the best season possible.
We don't want to fire a guy and put the
playoff in in in jeopardy. We could have a home game,
we could be hosting games. I mean, we don't want
to do that. So I'm sure that's what the announcement's
gonna wind up being.
Speaker 2 (34:02):
The day after all of a sudden, they're ranked fifteenth
in the next college football playoff. Yeah, we think he's leaving. Yeah,
And if we have to keep people out of the
playoff because their quarterback got hurt even if they kept winning, well,
Lane Giffin Lee, it has to be worth something.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen down The Chase
and Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon. Coming
up next, we preview one of the biggest games in
the NFL, and I guarantee you you're gonna be surprised
when we preview this game. It may be the only
time we preview these teams ever.
Speaker 2 (34:36):
Okay, in the history of Radio Jetsyo.
Speaker 1 (34:39):
But it's not trust me, it's not the Jets.
Speaker 2 (34:42):
Come on, it's Torod Taylor as a fourteen point dog
against the hampered Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
Yeah, okay. Final score Baltimore thirty eight, the Jets negative seven.
That game not the Jets. The game we're gonna maybe
it's Cleveland? Is it? Shador Sanders? Is it next? Jason
and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:03):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific Fox.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike harmon Pobo. Big Football Friday Preview, also Big NBA
Night as well NBA Cup Night. We got Mark Stein
coming up in about ten minutes. Who got Flagg's best
game in the NBA Lakers drama? And is one big
(35:33):
time Chicago Bulls record? Absolutely in Jeopardy hit Mike the Balls.
Mall's one of the biggest games of the week. And
I again, I don't know any other week we're ever
going to preview a game like this where we say
Brown's Raiders. People want to know what's going to happen,
must see tell them what do we think is going
(35:54):
to happen for the Browns and the Raiders. You got
to go back to like nineteen eighty eight, the last
time people thought Brown's Raiders was good, right like that,
that's the last time, Brad Oh Brown. I don't know, Hey, Kozar,
it's a pretty good team, you know, Biner and Mac
all right, they were pretty good, boy, the Raiders in
the late eighties, you know, coming off the Super Bowl
(36:15):
and I don't know, you gotta go back the last night.
But Shadora Sanders NFL debut as a starter is a
big deal. And for Sanders, I'll tell you this, he
will be fine. Is he gonna have great stats. No,
the game is a little too fast for him. It's
gonna be instinct plays, reaction plays from him. You're gonna
(36:38):
see Sunday. And I'll tell you this, he will make
three or four really good individual plays that extend drives
or help put the ball in the end zone. I'm
not saying each one's gonna result in a touchdown, but
he's gonna make three or four really terrific decisions or plays,
whether it's standing in and fiery get a big completion,
(37:01):
scrambling for a big first down, holding onto the ball
long enough to make a big throw. He'll make three
or four good plays. The rest of the game might
be really rough, for him. But number one, you gotta
love the under on this. You could put the under
at four and a half and I would take the under.
Speaker 2 (37:15):
It is it currently had thirty six, little downward pressure
coming as the week rolls on.
Speaker 1 (37:21):
I would be surprised that thing got to like thirty
four and a half by the time kickoff.
Speaker 2 (37:25):
Would not be shocked. I've not looked up. Let's see,
we're in Vegas, so whether or not a factor, but yeah,
like that would have been one of the other things. Yeah,
let's get a thirty mile an hour win cutting through.
Speaker 1 (37:39):
But he'll make enough individual plays because he is talented,
and that'll be enough and he'll win. Now we'll wait,
So what do you think the score is gonna be? Oh,
it's gonna be low. It's gonna be like sixteen to ten.
But the main reason is this Brown's defense can kind
of name the score against Gino Smith and the Raiders.
Man Miles Garrett is running a meet eating right now, Going, okay, guys, everybody,
(38:02):
everybody put in the pool from me sacks you think
you're gonna get? How many interceptions you think you're gonna get?
Like it's a stat game. The Brown, but the Browns
defense has given trouble to everybody over the course this season.
No matter how good you are or how bad you are,
the Browns give you problems. This defense is legit and
it's the big regret that the Browns are gonna have
the end of the year going. Man, if we had
(38:22):
known our defense is gonna be this good, we would
have invested more on the offensive side of the football,
set a tanking for next year. But hey, you make decisions,
you have to live with them. Uh, they're gonna absolutely
just blow the Raiders apart. And Gino Smith I feel
bad for the guy because, man, this Browns defense is
gonna eat him alive. Give me the under gimme Shador Sanders.
And on Monday we're talking about Shador Sanders one to
(38:44):
zero should he stay the Cleveland brown starting quarterback. Let's
see Gino Smith odds to throw an interception minus one
seventy six implied odds sixty four percent. This is on
the first pass of the game.
Speaker 2 (38:59):
No, just any time.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Oh okay, all right, right.
Speaker 2 (39:02):
Yeah, first pass of the game. I mean, I do
like the cut of your gym. How about two plus
interceptions for Chadure plus one eighty four.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
H three and wow, that's a pretty good that's a
pretty good spot to put it out. Three interceptions, i'd
see get if you go for three plus, you get
five to one. Yeah. See, I don't think he's gonna
throw the football enough to throw three picks.
Speaker 2 (39:26):
Ye, Gino at three plus is just three to one.
Speaker 1 (39:28):
Yeah, Gino at three plus is even money?
Speaker 2 (39:32):
All right? So over under on his passing yards is
like one sixty okay for Chadure what sixty?
Speaker 1 (39:40):
Yeah? Yeah, you might be able to say the over
under is one sixty for Shador and Gino.
Speaker 2 (39:46):
Yeah, gins close to two hundred's one ninety seven? Yeah
for just for just this game, not the next two times,
just this one.
Speaker 1 (39:55):
Wow? Really?
Speaker 2 (39:57):
Yes, like the sender thing go ahead?
Speaker 1 (40:00):
What do they think they know that we don't know?
Speaker 2 (40:02):
If I'm just gonna keep wringing the ball down if well,
I mean also, you know the opportunity that Schador can't
move the ball and they get some you know, opportunity
to work downfield, maybe a little brock Bowers, maybe more Tyler.
I don't know, I'm wishing an open here, but when
we look at Sanders, what.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
They could throw the ball sixty times we've known that's
before from Gino, he could have two hundred yards passing
on sixty pass ten.
Speaker 2 (40:26):
Yeah, Ashton Genty's bystander. But for Shador, the one thing
we do know is he's not shy about putting the
ball downfield. Will he be able to avoid Max Crosby,
Like if I could get the head to head on
Crosby and Garrett, that's about as good as it gets.
But he will push the downfield to Tillman into Judy.
So they're interesting as deep end fantasy ninjas. But when
(40:48):
we look at Shador Sanders, I mean, we're all grabbing
our popcorn to watch. Right, It's the most fascinating under
forty nine total game that will play all year.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
It out about a Fresco exit swollen Dome the Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carmon. So there
it is your probably only Browns Raiders preview ever, is
one of the biggest NBA records of all time in
Jeopardy this year, that's next Fox
