Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Hey, the Mets got
Devin Williams tonight. Okay, I feel pretty good about the
eighth inning or the ninth inning. Jazz his own point guard. Yeah,
he's pretty good. Good University of Illinois. Aah, we broke him.
Now we'll bring him back. No, it's it sent him
(00:44):
to the depths of hell.
Speaker 1 (00:46):
You owe me. Now you're bringing him back. He's not
been the same since that at Alonzo home run. But
now here he is.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
What is in three years like sixteen person Yeah, yeah,
fifteen sixteen million US for a.
Speaker 1 (00:56):
Guy that's young. That kind of stuff. I mean, look,
he was someone that they had they had talked about
getting the beginning of the of the off season. He
was on that short list of Hey, these three players
are guys we're looking at and Devin Williams was was
one of the two or three guys they've already they
wanted to move on from Nemo's contract done. They wanted
Devin Williams. I'm done. Here we come, here, we come.
(01:17):
We're getting you. Next years. We're getting you next year, Frostburg,
We're getting you. Just watch, just waiting. You're signing for
just wait next year. Just wait. Yes, we're signing Frostsburg.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
Because that's the only way to interpret that, because if
you were inferring that you're suddenly coming after the Dodgers,
like I can't wait for.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
Their No, no, we're coming after the Dodge. Yeah, the Dodgers.
Chi's gonna be Yeah, Freddy Peralta, Oh okay, great, that's wonderful.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
That's the guy out. That's that's terrific. You can have
a couple of the closures. They didn't use any playoff.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Hey, they'll probably they'll probably, you know, they'll call the
Phillies and say, hey, so, uh, we know you only
think he's good, but we will take Bryce Harper off
your hands.
Speaker 2 (01:55):
Well that'll work for it, I mean, and we'll give
you amage in and uh, you know a guy from
our minor leagues.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
How but we do.
Speaker 1 (02:04):
We'll get you out front of that money because we
can pay him that money. Don't worry about it. We'll
pay him that. Yeah, it's easy, easy, suck that off.
Speaker 2 (02:09):
U sixty seven games for Williams in twenty twenty five
for the Yankees, four and six record, Mieens saves four
seventy nine e er three years, fifty one million dollars.
Speaker 1 (02:22):
We broke him and fix him. That's why it's all
it's gonna happen.
Speaker 2 (02:24):
Well, I tell you were asking me before whether you
know Pete Alonzo had to leave. I say, he's got
to stay. I can't see another roster. It's a problem.
Like it's like you know what, it's like this here,
here's why it's a problem. It's no nobody cares.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
No.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
But here's the thing. No, but this could gotten out,
not one. But if you don't blank you Frostburg, just
just take your win.
Speaker 2 (02:43):
Yes, just take your win. Yes, Who the hell that
guy is sure?
Speaker 1 (02:46):
They do? They know Pete Alonzo wrecked him two years
ago in the playoffs. Nobody, But I want to say
this just walking around that's all time leading home run hit.
It's kind of like a guy who broke up with
a girlfriend to go day another guy, and then that
guy that she broke up to date they wind up
(03:07):
being friends. Like it's it's difficult, Like it's like I
can't but I can't be around that guy can't be around.
You can't bring him back. You gotta let him go
well and keep your enemies close. Now, Monday Night football
goes to the Patriots thirty three to fifteen. Blank you, Frostburg,
how about that? Blank you? Thirty three to fifteen is
(03:27):
the final. This game was never in doubt. The Patriots
jumped out to a seventeen to nothing lead, and the
Giants had one chance to make it close, but Young
Waykup took care of that. We'll get to that coming
up in a little bit. Really, I mean, it's it's
gotta be the Young Way Coup play has got to be.
I don't know if it's butt fumble esque, but man,
it's close, and it is close.
Speaker 2 (03:49):
Fought for a spot in the agony of that is close.
The world is sports.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
That is really there was a jau foot is still
stuck in the ground. You can make a poster of that.
We're trying to get your foot out. It's encased in
concrete and turf. I mean really if that, if that
happened and the Jets forget it, man, yeah, they'd be
playing that thing forever. I mean, it's not the butt fumble,
but it's close. It's close, dude. The guyimbo happened the
(04:17):
guy Thanksgiving.
Speaker 2 (04:18):
The guy kicked it. The guy kicked two feet behind
the ball when the ball wasn't moving. It's not like
it's a hey, it was moving and I swinging. Mis's
not the balls. You know where the ball's going down,
you know, and and you and you come down two
feet Well that's the thing. I keep looking at the footwork,
and I'm obsessed with where his plant foot is relative
you're worth a ball.
Speaker 1 (04:38):
There's no footwork. Is kicking like just two feet behind him.
It's like slang, he's trying to find the upside down.
He's a big stranger things man, trying to find the
upside down mining for gold in the middle of a
football field. But you know something that look, whenever it
happens on a Monday night, it's a much bigger deal.
And yeah, you know the butt fumble on Thanksgiving and
(04:59):
the coup I don't know. Uh, the young way coup play.
I'm trying to think of something that can but Cou cou.
Couldn't you have done better? Cou good? I don't know,
but uh, you got to see the Patriots win tonight
with a precision that you would expect a great team
(05:20):
to win when you're playing a two win tea. That's
excellence of execute. This wasn't a game where they had
to go crazy that you saw them. Hey, they pulled
it out like the Broncos have been doing lately. The Broncos,
who allegedly are a great team, and oh look at them,
they just keep pulling out games they shouldn't have to
pull up. This is exactly how you thought the game
was gonna go. The Patriots are going to get out
to an early lead and they were gonna coast and
(05:41):
that's exactly what happened. Now, the Giants did pulled it
within two scores late, but that was it. The Patriots
made the plays defensively, they got the extra field goal.
Good night. How to finish? There is no doubt, especially
now when you get to this part of the NFL season,
you're trying to think of who the best teams are.
Ben Johnson's gonna give him a run for his money.
Speaker 2 (06:03):
Good better best, but ripping off his shirt in the lockdown,
there's a butt faux statue already being erected. They have
a lot more talent on that roster than the Patriots do.
You could say outside a quarter and it's close to quarterback,
right because Caleb Williams has been that good. Drake may
has been better, obviously, But you look at the rest
(06:26):
of the skill positions and you can say, well, I'll
take the Bears at there, I'll take the Bears at
wide receiver. I'll take the Bears at tight end. I'll
take the Bears at running back.
Speaker 1 (06:35):
I'll take the Bears in a lot of places. Line bear, Yeah,
you'll take the Bears a lot of places. And this
is why now the race has gone down to two
people now because you're seeing the differences that they have made.
But there is no doubt in my mind that Mike
Rabel is the coach of the Year in the NFL.
And it shouldn't even be close. Ben Johnson could finished second,
that's great, but Mike Rabel is doing so. He's come
(06:57):
in in one year and he's not just reset a culture.
This is not a team that had a bunch of talent,
which makes me think, what the hell are the Jets doing? Oh,
Aaron Glenn's got a set of culture. Mike Vrabel's setting
a culture. He's winning games, and they're gonna have home
field advantage for the Super Bowl. He's done that in
a bleeping year. Now. I knew he was gonna be
good because I told you in the offseason speaking of
being ahead of the curve, what did I say when
(07:17):
he became available? He's the guy I go after. He's
the number one guy on everybody's list of who do
you want to come in and be your next head coach?
Couldn't get along with ownership in Tennessee anymore, but who
can right Tennessee. That that's kind of a tire fire.
So what can he do?
Speaker 2 (07:33):
Oh?
Speaker 1 (07:34):
I forgot how good a coach Mike Vrabel was, and
everybody's being reminded of that right now. But coming off
of last year, you know that he's someone in the
right in the right environment, with a job he's always wanted.
He's always wanted that job. Member, And I don't like
you going to the Patriots Hall of Fame stuff. Yeah,
but this is a job I really want and I'm
gonna be here someday. He has come in and not
just turned the program around. He has turned them into
(07:56):
a super Bowl contender and a Super Bowl favorite in
a year they won four games. Last year, they didn't
bring it. They didn't bring in a bunch of guys.
You could say, well, oh, this guy's gonna be great,
and this guy's gonna be great. No, they took chances
in the draft, they took chances at free agent, and
all of a sudden, everything is coming up sevens for him.
But this is about bringing the culture in, having the
right offensive system in because you can see they win
(08:19):
so many games because offensively they look a lot like
the Patriots did in the early two thousands when Brady
first came in, before they had a lot of studs.
He is the coach of the year, and I other
guys are doing great jobs. Sean Payton's doing a great
job in Denver. You know, I got to give Brian
Schottenheimer a lot of credit, the team not quitting, doing
a great job in Dallas, obviously, Sean McVay in Los Angeles.
(08:42):
There's lots of guys having great years. Nobody is having
the year with less more than Mike Vrabel in New England.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Yeah, we look at just from pillar to post when
you got a couple of big defensive players starting to
get their run, no question in New England. But offensively
we talk about it Hunter Henry, he's been on and
off the radar for years.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
We talk about the receiving course. Devon Diggs is not
the guy.
Speaker 2 (09:06):
Kashawan Boody has been good and it has really picked
his game up, but they're not elite.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
The running game. Stevenson and Henderson. You've got a one
two punch that's quite potent, no question about it. And
you take an advantage, right.
Speaker 2 (09:20):
It's it's you've got a schedule in front of you
and they don't let up, right, they don't. They don't
have any of these we need to hang on kind
of moments. They go and and they're nearly plus one
hundred for the year. So you're taking advantage of your
schedule and you're beating those teams. And for Mike Vrabel,
(09:41):
as you said, that's the job he wanted, right, that's
the identifier. You always think of him as being the
guy that was the touchdown score back in the day
for Brady as the defender coming in. Congratulations Tristan Wurf's
I want him as a eligible at tight end now
after he scored that touchdown this week for the Bucks.
But when we look at the Coach of the Year
(10:01):
odds right now, it's seventy one percent implied that Vrabel
wins it.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
Stichen was up there for a bit. That's dissipated a bit.
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Ben Johnson was eight to one as of a couple
of days ago. I'm sure that's shortening a little bit.
And give credit whether it's Ben Johnson giving a grocery
list of what he wanted to Kevin Warren and whatever.
Ryan Poles like, I'm not sure what the power dynamic is.
Does he just bypass polls and goes straight to the
top and whatever. But you reconstituted the offensive line. You
(10:32):
made some big moves and swings, so talent wise, to
your point, yeah, I think there are more there's more
star power there, so it lessens it to a degree.
But Ben Johnson when he got to Chicago, it was
we're gonna be tough. We're gonna look a lot like
what you saw in Detroit, and that's exactly they done.
Speaker 1 (10:50):
They're playing bully ball.
Speaker 2 (10:52):
Meanwhile, the physicality, the toughness in Detroit is being questioned
as to whether that's run its course with Dan Campbell
kind of an interesting shift of power and weighing on
the scales. But from Mike Rabel, been a fantastic run, right.
You thought you'd get more energy from the Jets, and
you got your win this this week, which I know
(11:13):
you're conflicted about as much as you like W's and
ad Ni Mitchell having a big play, uh in all
of those things that it's still the I don't know
that we want to move up five five spots because
there's enough of these bad teams down there.
Speaker 1 (11:27):
No, no, it's not. We'll get to that coming up
in the field and the culture. And I'm not mad
that Jets won because they're going to blow draft position,
because let's find whatever draft pick the Jets make a
quarterback will be wrong. But there's another reason why, which
we'll get to. But like this is like again being
ahead of the curve. We told us about Rabel three
weeks ago. I don't know why we're even talking about
(11:50):
this as a debate. And this is when his odds
were below Sean Payton and below Stiching and below No
one is doing more with less. And look at these
other teams now that that have all the weapons, and
suddenly they're falling on hard times, right, the Colts falling
on hard times. Suddenly the Broncos falling hard times, barely
escaping games. It should be winning by a lot, right,
the Rams falling on hard times. I keep thinking about
(12:11):
to your.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
Hard times, hard time, fall, hard times, dream Dusty Rhodes
wherever we can. There's no hard times for Mike Grabel. Yes,
the schedule is incredibly easy, but there's no hard times.
They have no problems right now. I don't foresee and
I'm not saying this to throw this out there. I'll
watch now, I'll get them, I'll hex them.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
But looking but looking ahead, there's no there's no place
I can look at and say, oh, it's a tough
part of the schedule. They should come out of this.
Speaker 2 (12:38):
If they don't have if they don't finish with at
least fourteen wins, something's wrong. If they're not fourteen and three,
at least something is wrong.
Speaker 1 (12:46):
I love that. I'll give him one more loss on
the way. Maybe maybe they catch Lamar Jackson on the
wrong day and he's healthy of it. But it's not
gonna be the chance. It's not gonna be the Dollins.
Maybe a one more, but if they're not fourteen and
three and have home field for the playoffs, something's wrong now.
Speaker 2 (13:02):
Because of your love of Berman, my love of holiday
holiday holiday music up and down, let's grab a little
Merle Haggard. If we make it through December, everything's gonna
be all right. I know, what do you got, Frostburg.
Speaker 5 (13:18):
There's only one head coach in the NFL that's doing
more with way less, Aaron Glen And if they end
up winning the division, he's probably coach of the year
over for Abele.
Speaker 1 (13:27):
Okay, who's that Dave Canalis?
Speaker 2 (13:29):
Uh, I don't know.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
I don't know that five hundred. He's doing a great job.
Left that job. But if he's doing a great job too,
But what was their win to? I mean but he
but that's a five hundred team, and yes, doing a
lot with let's not a very tough yet. The Ted
McMillan is a phenomenal wide receiver, right and he's come
in and you're doing it. You found Ricodoubdell and dow
Chuba Hubbard's taking the job back. It Nothing makes sense
(13:54):
in Carolina and they're a great story. They're a fun
roller coaster. But this is not. If this was Mike
Vrabel had the Patriots at seven and six or eight
and six and they were in it and it was
a surprise year, I would say, yeah, okay, I can
give you that's maybe it's a toss up with Canalis
or maybe Ben Johnson gets it. But I mean, number
one team in the AFC like this and beating teams
(14:17):
by twenty thirty points a week like that like that?
That good. That blows past what everybody ears. Though.
Speaker 2 (14:24):
We need the.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Investigation into that. I mean, I need something for Week
one how they lost that that should disqualify them from
the playoffs. Losing to the Raiders week one, that's one exit.
Ou about a fresco exit swelling down The Jason Smith

Jason and Mike giving you things to listen to you
every night, just as menacing as some of these old
Christmas carols, menacing Christmas came outs and jumps good old
Santa Claus. Not hey, upstrides good old Satate. No, he
(15:49):
jumps out. Hey saw Mommy kissing Santa Claus? Are you
talking about the Melloncamp version?
Speaker 1 (15:59):
Say that like it's a out there No, I'm just
saying I mean I saw Mommy kissing Santa. I didn't
know that was so controversial in its day. Well that
was that was a controversial. The beginning of the song
no if you close a married man, if you read okay,
you're right you're right, it is.
Speaker 2 (16:15):
That's controversial.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
Yeah, no, it is.
Speaker 2 (16:17):
Eber.
Speaker 1 (16:18):
I was over the weekend we were talking about the song.
I didn't know it was so controversial because of its
its inclusion of sex and the Christmas holiday. Oh okay,
I'm kissing Santa.
Speaker 2 (16:27):
I mean it's not quite as good or controversial as
Buster point Dexter.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
Is that you? But yeah, no, Mary, I didn't think
about that. Missus claws home at the North Pole going.
I let him out one day a year, one day
a year. Keep Mommy is also married as well.
Speaker 2 (16:43):
Well I'm pretty sure yeah, okay, sure, yeah, yeah, yeah,
all right, maybe Santa is on mommy's list.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Who's on your list? George Clooney and uh uh the
really the really hot guy from Bridgerton and Santa Claus.
Speaker 2 (16:58):
No, yeah, you saw that. The old clips cycling around
of Anna Kendrick King told that while she was on
what was one of those late night shows, and he
had no idea what the list meant. So he is like,
and she goes, you know, I don't have to do
anything right. I could be on his list, but I
(17:19):
don't have to.
Speaker 5 (17:20):
Do any Guys, who's harder to find missus Claus or
Aaron Rodgers's wife.
Speaker 1 (17:25):
Oh I did at this point pegging out with man,
Aaron Rodgers has more worries and than then figuring out
who is what after this year? No one's gonna care.
He's got love of four weeks his NFL career, he's done.
Speaker 2 (17:38):
Yeah, But you know what's funny is they came into
the week as the number ten offense football in terms
of scoring.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Nooin's bringing. Now look, now let's get to Aaron Rodgers
here for a second, because we look, we have to
what did I say last week? And what if I
said about Aaron Rodgers? I'm your Aaron Rodgers whisper. I've
told you all about this season. How was it going
to go for him? For a long time? Graduates to
everybody else who's now in the last two weeks ago,
you know, Aaron Rodgers is kind of done. Yeah, I've
(18:04):
been driving that bus for months now, welcome being on
that bus. Yes, yeah, what did I tell you? What
I tell you in the spring? Ever since the beginning
of the year was going to start out fine, but eventually,
because it's his last year, biology is going to catch
up with him. The rest of the league is going
to catch up with him. He's a quarterback that's going
to start getting hit a little bit, and he doesn't.
(18:25):
He's not someone that's going to stand in the pocket anymore.
He's going to throw off his back foot. He's skinnish.
He'll throw the ball early. At least once every four
downs he throws the ball away because a rusher looks
like they're getting in the back that we'll throw the
ball before his wide receiver turns around. That's Aaron Rodgers.
So the first half of the season first year, he'll
have moments, which he did. By the time we get
(18:47):
to December, we're wondering when Will Howard's going to be
the quarterback for the Steelers. And I don't know how
much far we are away from something else, because this
Steelers team, Hey, we're great, we're great. Mike Tomlin did
no short patting himself on the back earlier this year.
We're great, we're great. Now they're giving away the AFC North.
They're giving it away, and Aaron Rodgers stinks. And not
(19:09):
only have I seen what went on with the Jets
on the field and how it was going to play
out this year, what's going on off the field. Also
is playing out right. When Rogers, when things started going
bad for the Jets, theory was healthy, what did we
see him start doing? Blaming wide receiver, blaming Mike Williams
got to run the red line right that rember, the
red line, redline, and they let Mike Williams go right,
(19:30):
red line, redline, throwing the wide receivers under the bus
now because you weren't where we're supposed to be. Here's
Aaron Rodgers following last night's game. A big headline today
that everyone needs to be on the same page and
wide receivers have to get to meetings because apparently wide
receivers aren't getting the meetings that the team is having
that they need to get to. All of this is happening.
Speaker 2 (19:52):
Now.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Here's Rogers coming off his worst game. One bad game
with the Chargers. Okay, it was a pretty good season.
The Chargers have a great defense. I can kind of
throw that out. We flew three thousand miles, right, that's fine.
Now here you are yesterday, after another horrendous game against
a defense that the Bill's defense is good. It's not unbelievable,
it's unbelievably went against him in fantasy and you lost
like I did because the bleeping Bills. But this was
(20:14):
not a great Bills defense that suddenly is running roughshot
over the NFL. It's not the old Bills defense from
five years ago, where man, they're an absolute monster and
here are the Bills. No, this is a defense that, hey, okay,
they've had some moments this year, but they're not unbeatable.
And yet they put out an effort that looks like
it was the Broncos and the Texans rolled up into
(20:35):
one for this game. So understand that this is what
happens when things start getting bad for Aaron Rodgers. He's
gonna go on. He's gonna blame other people and blaming
the wide receivers today by saying, hey, we all got
to get on the same page. Come to a meeting.
We have a meeting. Whoa, whoa whoa wait wait wait
wait wait. Guys aren't coming to meetings, really, Mike Tomins
allowing guys to not coming to meetings. They're not gonna
just not showing up. There's meetings all the time, and
(20:57):
guys aren't showing up. Now, Aaron Rodgers is now playing
defense and trying to get people to his side. Hey,
I He's trying to lead in a backwards wig where
he wants you to know this is not my fault.
I'm stepping up to lead by saying, we all get
on the same page, but I want you to know
it's not my fault. To a tongue of I LOOA
got absolutely killed for this earlier this year. Oh, I mean,
guy's got to get to it. But Aaron Rodgers says it,
(21:19):
and every he goes, oh Aaron, right, No, No, same thing,
same thing's got to happen for two of that happened
to Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 6 (21:24):
When there's film sessions, everybody shows up. And when I
checked to a route, you do the right route, you know,
Like johnah and I just were on the same page.
I checked to his ian breaker and he ran out breaker.
You know, Johnna is a true professional, so I'm sure
(21:46):
he's you know, he's sick, sick about that. But you know,
I threw a ball I thought was going to get
it by the wind and it was four yards over Roman,
So I gotta make that throw. But you know, we
have our meetings every week, we have other opportunities outside
of the facility, and look forward to seeing all the boys.
Speaker 1 (22:10):
There John new Smith who's talking about apparently there was
some kind of miscommunication on a big pass that Rogers
is talking about there. Now, was it John hu Smith's fault?
Was it not his fault? I mean, we've seen Aaron
Rodgers do this, right, so the same thing can be
said for him. You say, for Tua, what's he doing?
Why are you saying this about your receivers? But yet
there's none of that there because people really want for
(22:32):
some reason, I want to jump up and down on
to it. But Roger, like the past two No, he's
doing the same bleeping thing, say the same bleeping things.
His career is done. He is done, and it's just
going to be a slow, continued circle of the drain
in December, and really, the one big drama is gonna
be is he going to finish the season starting for
the Steelers or is somebody else going to be in there?
(22:52):
Because because Mike Tomlin he wants to stay head coach
of the Steelers, I'm sure he does. Is he going
to ride all the way to the end with Aaron
Rodgers or is he gonna say I need something because
it's just not getting better? Hey Will Howard, Hey, let's
make Jason Smith a profit. You come in and you're
gonna start the last three games of the season.
Speaker 2 (23:08):
What will be really fun to watch is whether Joe
Burrowing Company can go to the whip down the stretch
and overtake everybody, which mighty might happen when this this
is all said and done. They've got a lot of
division games left. But for Aaron Rodgers, Uh, he's got
more in the bank, right, the MBPS, the Super Bowl, Uh,
some big appearances, all the media stuff, a lot of
(23:31):
goodwill for to a tongue of aloa that's a long
time ago, right that Hey, he comes on in relief
in college and has a big game. H and everybody's
trying to fall all over themselves to whether they want
to learn how to pronounce his last name or not.
We'll just call him to and be done with it, right.
So it's it's some of that is on him, you know.
(23:54):
Durability is a whole other question, but just in terms of,
you know, does he have the pelts on the wall
in the NFL to say what he was doing when
everything was spiraling around.
Speaker 1 (24:02):
Him, That's where he didn't win.
Speaker 2 (24:03):
Aaron Rodgers is also on a week where we're talking
about Drake May, We're talking about what the Bears are doing,
We're talking about the lunacy that was the Lane Kiffin situation. Man,
he goes like, this is next to the you know rental,
you know, if you need to go rent a mini
fridge for your college in the newspapers.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
This is next to the horse racing results. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (24:25):
I also liked the meme that was going around because
he had the bandage over the nose.
Speaker 5 (24:29):
Though.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
It's like this is equating him to Daniel Stern from
a home alone, as if he ran into Kevin McAllister.
Speaker 1 (24:36):
He's got on the feet, he got the iron thing
on his head. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, joh he's Brett
battering his hand into the into the coins and sticking
to the to the fake cast he's got on.
Speaker 2 (24:47):
I'm gonna give you one stat twenty twenty four average
intended ERA yards per pass for your New York Football
Jets about six point eight yards per attempt. Currently, he
is tied for thirty so second in the National Football
League among qualifiers with pop gun arm Dylan Gabriel.
Speaker 5 (25:06):
I thought you were going with a sticky Bandit's.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
You got a sticky band. Sticky versus wet bandit stat
what was more successful? We break it down right now,
eight seven seven on Fox. Look, he's circling the exact
Is that the pole question? Yeah, that's what I mean
by being ahead of the curvey. This is how it
was going to go for Rogers, just like it went
for Russell Wilson last year. It's too long of a season.
He's coming off too much of an injury, he's too
(25:32):
skittish in the pocket. It's too everything for him now,
and really it's for Rogers. Forget about thinking about the postseason.
This is I want to finish on my feet as
a starting quarterback. I don't want to finish. We're in
the big parka on the sideline with my headset on,
joking around with the third string quarterback while I watch
Will Howard play, and everybody's hoping that at least a
(25:54):
couple times during the game, I'll call the kid aside
from my arm around him and say, hey, will do this,
do this? Do this? I want to on my feet.
That's the biggest question. I'm telling you it's not gonna
happen now because at six and six you're tied for
the lead in the AFC North. Right, it could go
anyway because no one's playing really well, right, but you
need to be able to show that I can still
do some things. I don't know if he doesn't have
(26:16):
another couple of weeks, maybe a week or two at
most before Mike Tomlin says, I want to save my job.
I want to still coach here. I mean, maybe I
want to leave jump to the Giants and coach Jackson Dark,
but I want to stay here. I don't want to
get fired. I don't want this narrative out there that
my time with the Steelers has done. He's gonna have
to do something very stark and very brave and very
(26:39):
weird and very controversial. And that's sitting Aaron Rodgers the
last couple of games of the season. If the division
is still there for him and you're not getting stuff
from your quarterback.
Speaker 2 (26:48):
Yeah, I look at it also, and I think the
defense has gotten a free pass. Other than the Cam Hayward,
Josh Allen fights dirty and here's a montage of my
greatest hits and cheap shotting quarterback and other people on
the ground. The defense didn't show up. Buffalo was down
both at starting tackles. I don't think enough is being
(27:08):
made about that. It's like and your high priced, high energy,
high name defensive line did absolutely nothing against Buffalo. Right,
so Aaron Rodgers can take the slings and arrows. They're
fifteenth in terms of points per game right now, at
twenty three point four points per game. They're twenty seventh
in total yardage. They're just ahead of such luminaries as
(27:32):
the Titans, Browns, Raiders, Vikings, who win the last two games.
You could have spiked the ball into the damn ground
every play and still had a higher QBR than what
you got from your last two starting quarterback and your Jets.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Ah, I'm the New York Jet. Might remember me from
such lists as last place, thirty second, two.
Speaker 2 (27:55):
Hundred and eighty one point seven yards per game. For
those keeping tracking, we talked about Aaron Rodgers. It's following
this very familiar script. Agay taudre.
Speaker 1 (28:02):
You would have known this month ago, But I told
this how it's gonna end.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Why is it?
Speaker 1 (28:05):
Pablo touring Donald Hound his wife? He should investigate what's
going on with Aaron Rodgers? Well, what what? Let's investigate
what's going on? That's an easy one. He sucks it's
a very short show. It's the shortest podcast efforts three seconds.
Speaker 2 (28:19):
You're gonna need to give us a little more. Yeah,
he really, really, really really, it's like the old writing
of papers in eighth grade.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Don't know to find out what's trending in the wide
rold sports from special delivery Steve to saying or esdi,
what do you got for us?
Speaker 8 (28:32):
Well, we'll get to the Patriots win in a moment
while we're talking quarterbacks in the NFL, Arizona QB Kyler
Murray is still on IR, but he'll not practice this
week either, foot injury the problem, so Jacoby Brissett will
start again this weekend. Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Junior
could miss time with a heel injury. Chargers quarterback Justin
Herbert had surgery today on his broken left hand. He
(28:54):
might still play next Monday night against Philadelphia. We'll see
Chargers young running back Amar and Hampton will return soon.
For the moment, he's still on injured reserve after an
ankle injury. Washington QB Jaden Daniels has still not been
cleared for contact after his elbow injury. San Francisco fullback
Kyle You check has a rib fracture and will be
reevaluated after the team's bye week built.
Speaker 2 (29:15):
So TJ clearly the forty nine. Well why don't you
check and see how I'm doing in a couple of
weeks after the bye?
Speaker 1 (29:22):
TJ? I hate you.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
Did you just come up with that?
Speaker 1 (29:25):
Like right now, I've had that in my holster. I've
had used checking my.
Speaker 8 (29:29):
Okay, because I thought maybe a young Way coup with
that name.
Speaker 4 (29:32):
There's got to be some sort of you know, like
young whoa Coo like what we saw with the stubbing
the toe, or you know, Coo and the shoe or
there's something in there.
Speaker 1 (29:43):
You were right to bring that up.
Speaker 3 (29:44):
I like that.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
The cook the chew in the shoe, I like that.
Speaker 1 (29:47):
I like that, Marilyn McCoo, nicely done.
Speaker 8 (29:49):
Coo threw a shoe. Lions wide receivers. Lion's wide receiver
Amena Saint Brown did not practice today due to the
spring he suffered on the Thanksgiving game a week ago,
and Detroit plays this Thursday, hosting Dallas. Tonight at New England,
Patriots won their tenth straight game, beating the Giants thirty
(30:10):
three fifteen. It was thirty to seven at the half.
Giants are winless on the road still this year two
and eleven. Overall, they've lost seven straight games. Young quarterback
Jackson Dart did start after missing time with a concussion.
He was seventeen of twenty four, passing for only one
hundred and thirty nine yards and a score. Drake May
had two touchdown passes two hundred and eighty two yards.
(30:30):
The Patriots went four for five on field goals. Michigan
State's new football coach is Pat Fitzgerald, ex of Northwestern.
Jonathan Smith was just fired on Sunday after going four
and fourteen in conference games. Smith is still owed over
thirty million dollars. UCLA's new coach will be Bob Chesney,
who will still coach James Madison this weekend in the
(30:51):
Sunbelt title game plus any playoff after that. James Madison
is currently ranked in the top twenty in both polls.
Chesney also had success with Holy Cross at the FIS level.
Kentucky fired coach Mark Stoops after thirteen years there. Kentucky
reportedly wants Oregon offensive coordinator Will Stein, who is a
Kentucky native but a former Louisville quarterback BYU coach Kalanie
(31:13):
Sataki is reportedly a candidate for the Penn State job.
College football selection Sunday is this weekend when all the
playoff teams will be named and the bowl matchups come out.
The Mets gave reliever Devin Williams a three year deal.
Closer Edwin Diez is a free agent still in the
NBA's late game. Phoenix ended the Lakers seven game winning streak,
winning in LA one twenty five to one oh eight.
(31:34):
Luka Donsich in defeat thirty eight points, nine turnovers. Lebron
James sat out Sunday Night's win played tonight. In the loss,
he finished with exactly ten points, So the double digit
streak continues. He's gone nearly thirteen hundred straight NBA games
with at least ten points in each. He had three assists,
(31:55):
three turnovers.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
I'll give you a bowl prediction. That's going to end
this season. Double digit streak is gonna end this sea.
There's nights where he's the he's the fifth leading scorer
on the team. That is going to end this season.
Speaker 8 (32:07):
And he had I think four points at one point
in the third quarter, So yeah, maybe sooner than later.
Dallas was six and fifteen, but gotta win at Denver
one thirty one, one twenty one. Anthony Davis thirty two points,
Nikola jokicch in the loss at Triple Double, including twenty rebounds.
Utah was six and thirteen but won at home against Houston,
won thirty three to one twenty five. Kevin Durant thirty
(32:28):
two points in defeat Miami and Brooklyn, with home wins
Detroit and Orlando as well. Washington was two and sixteen
but got a narrow home victory over Milwaukee, won twenty
nine to one twenty six. Cleveland picked up forty three
points from Donovan Mitchell in a victory at Indiana one
thirty five, one nineteen. The Pacers record now four and seventeen.
(32:48):
Philadelphia's Joel Embiid will take tomorrow off due to his
swordknee he just returned Sunday after missing nine games. Golden
State signed Seth Curry for the rest of the regular season.
The NBA Players of the Week are theres Luka Donsich
in the West and New York's Jalen Brunson in the East.
And a reminder well first off. US women's soccer won
its final exhibition of the Year, two nothing over Italy
(33:09):
and men's soccer. The reminder that the FIFA World Cup
Draw will be held this Friday on Fox TV from Washington, DC.
The US will co host Attorney. It'll be a forty
eight team tournament next summer for the first time. The
draw will place all the qualified teams into groups set
the bracket. So far, forty two of the forty eight
spots in the World Cup are taken, with the final
six qualifiers to come from playoffs in late March.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve. The Jason Smith Show
with My best friend Mike Harmon coming up next, we
break down the play of the night in the NFL,
maybe the blooper of the year, and something that would
compare a little bit maybe to the butt fumble. Was
that crazy? It's next Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
Well the way that started, I thought it was gonna
be the dmx uh the song Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas,
Merry Christmas. The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon is this Bieber and uh, yeah, Bieber's got
the you believe I believe this. He's got the number
one Christmas album since two thousand.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
Oh kidding, that's about after like obviously Mariah Carey every
year her all that went, Chris, But I believe he's
got the number one Christmas album. You go back to
two thousand. This twenty twelve, I think was when he
came out with this, and it's number one Christmas album
last twenty five years.
Speaker 2 (34:34):
Yeah, taking a little left turn away from Bieber for
a second. You know what I watched over the course
of the holiday holiday holiday weekend? What's that Jonas brother's
Christmas movie? I enjoyed it.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Were they all in it?
Speaker 7 (34:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Oh, even the one that Harley isn't anything. He pops
in at the end.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
Yeah, they do a family see and he shows up.
Spoiler alert.
Speaker 2 (34:53):
It's like Madelie goes, hey, the secuy, No, it's the
other guy, the other Jonah's brother will be Randall Cirk.
I mean, yes, oh nice, Okay, all right, you got
Jesse Tyler Ferguson may or may not be uh he
could be sayinga he could be an in version of
those letters you don't really know.
Speaker 1 (35:09):
He could be Mitch, he could be and I never
know exactly this. Uh So, there is no discussion about
tonight's Monday Night game that is complete without the Young
Wayku field goal attempt. This happened in the first half.
The Giants, down seventeen to seven, had a chance to
make it a game. They're down seventeen nothing. Jackson Darth
(35:30):
throws a touchdown, The Giants get back down the field. Hey,
fourth down, forty six yard field goal coming. Okay, hey,
Giants can cut this and make this a one score
games game. Still have the light? Yeah, All of a sudden,
the page like, wow, we gave away a seventeen nothing
lead to the Giants. Man, they are terrible. Come on, man,
you say it like you're gonna do a stand up bit.
(35:52):
We gave him a seventy boy, I mean took thet.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
To the Giants.
Speaker 1 (35:55):
Man. Yes, I'm Nate Bergotzi either day.
Speaker 2 (35:58):
You know what I tell you, Laura, I gotta tell
you so, Young Wayku comes out for forty six yard
field goal. The fact that it's no good, I'm not
spoiling anything, but how he missed it, well, I've never
seen someone miss a field goal quite like this forty
seven yard try now by Young Wayko and he stumbled
(36:18):
Jellen gets swallowed up Patriots ball. I don't think I've
ever seen that. I looked like he just stubbed his
foot right into the turf. Oh it's been.
Speaker 1 (36:32):
That kind of year.
Speaker 3 (36:35):
Here.
Speaker 6 (36:35):
It is.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
ESPN on the call. No, Troy, I haven't seen that either.
Speaker 7 (36:43):
No.
Speaker 2 (36:43):
I mean they chuckled about it quite a bit. Young
Way goes down as a miss. I don't know, Well,
he never actually kicked the ball, so it's not a miss.
Speaker 1 (36:52):
I've never seen a guy miss a field goal like
this where he approaches the ball and he simply kicks
two far behind the football kick and his foot goes
right into the ground. Maybe he's got turf tone now,
And I'm thinking it, because that's a that's a tough thing, man.
You're swinging with a pretty pretty big power and your
foot goes right into the ground. Like, is this worse
(37:14):
than grammatica jumping up and down. At least he kicked
the field goal and made it. He did that. This
is still like I equated a lot to golf because like,
and I think about a sand shot in golf right
where you're always taught and I remember this. Aim to
hit an inch behind the ball, right, that's when you're
and take a normal, powerful swing, but aim an inch
(37:36):
behind the ball, and then you're gonna wind out. It's
gonna do what you do. Don't try to pick it
out of the sand, don't try. Aim an inch behind
the ball, and that you're gonna do. And I think
about that, and there's times where Okay, I hit the
ball an inch behind the ball and it's great. There's
sometimes where I'll swing down and because I'm in on
a non level plane where boy, I hit that club
foot behind the ball. Oh, it's embarrassing. And the ball
just moved a little bit and I pick up the
(37:58):
ball and say, I'm starting over the next hole.
Speaker 2 (38:00):
And he hit the ground enough that you may have
tweaked the shoulder injury. Yes, that's kind of what Young
Wayku did.
Speaker 1 (38:07):
The ball wasn't moving, it was I mean, I don't
I've never seen a guy missed like that. And Charlie
Brown did it. Yeah, well that's because Lucy pulled the
ball away. Yeah, the holders not pulling the ball away
from Young Waykup. That's a good And I was gonna
h Charlie Brown reduce. I mean, I understand, but that's
(38:27):
I mean, if they pull the ball out of the way,
I get it. But this was I mean your two
feet you kicked the ground two feet behind the ball.
I don't know how you do that, I really And
that is a butt fumble like level of screw up.
I'm sorry. But if Nick Folk did that for the
game winning field goal yesterday against the Falcons, that would
be everywhere today. Oh, the Jets finally have a highlight
(38:49):
to compare to the butt fumble. They would be here's
the top five biggest Jets highlights of of of of
all time, and here they are the low lights of
all time. And here's the and they would play this
and we would say, oh, this is right here, and
then it compares with this, and it compares with this,
and it compares with this.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
But young wake com sorry that I mean a kicker,
you can't miss kicking the ball by two feet. Yeah,
but you know what, he gets a pass. You know
why how does he get a pass? Because this is
lost in the canonization, the deification of Saint Drake. That's
why lost.
Speaker 1 (39:21):
This game did not have enough highlights to have this
game get lost at it. I'll look at this deep
ball from Drake made Drake.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
You needed it.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
You needed a Burks type catch from last night to
make the work. Now that I mean, the biggest play
from this game is young Way. You're like, what the
hell has happening here?
Speaker 2 (39:37):
For this? I always say, if you're gonna fail, fail spectacularly,
and this is on the next level to where it's like,
I really hope his foot is not hurt. I also too,
so he has to show up and answer questions because
that it'll be really is I misplanted.
Speaker 1 (39:51):
And I kicked down and and and that's it.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
You know, now I'm hurt as opposed to you know,
I was dumb and no for the for the record,
there's no field goal attempt. So if you have misses,
if you happen to be playing him for some reason
in fantasy, there's no negative associated with it.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
And just to show you this shows you other teams
can screw up like the Jets very easily. Just so
you know, did you see Drake may coming up backs?
Speaking of quarterbacks, You're not gonna believe what Jackson Dart
said at the end of the game tonight. That's next
Jason of Mike Fox Sports Radio,
