Every gives us you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome inside a glorious hour three The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, where Kelsey Plumb
is undefeated in her Los Angeles Sparks era March first
WNBA game for the Golden State Valkyries in the books,
and it is the new look Sparks with an eighty

(00:53):
four to sixty seven win here on opening night for
the WNBO. So Steve Kerr was at attendance, courts. Do
you think he was mouthing along of what he'd been
doing coaching since he's been eliminated. Uh, well, I think
he may. He may be scouting for next year. Somebody
take the pressure off the shooter. Yeah, yeah, take take
to take the pressure off the steps. Somebody else set
a really good screen there in the third quarter. Let's go.

(01:15):
I'd say go to the Fever game tomorrow. But Rick
Carlo is gonna say, hey, we got the Knicks coming
up with Caitlyn. We need somebody that can hit some shots.
I can't. I can't trust that Nenmark is gonna hit
miracle threes like you did last year. Yeah, but they
go full on NFL scheduling. What do you got, You
got sky Fever tomorrow. What a great way, what a
great way to to to end this because look, the

(01:37):
knickser here to save the NBA playoffs to be just
to be quite honest, because you have you you have
smaller market teams that that are likely going to advance. Right,
you're the best Oklahoma city, you have Minnesota, you have Indiana.
The Knicker you need the big market teams. Right, It's why,
it's why the lotteries go the way here the big
market teams. You need the big market teams. The Knicks
are here to save the They inject the ball, right,

(01:57):
we've decided that's the way it works. Yes, he has
the ball inflated it so when they put him in
the hopper, it's like, oh, they didn't do anything.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
It is Carl Anthony Towns and the Minnesota Timberwolves are
in the conference finals.

Speaker 1 (02:10):
Yeah, ok, hey, I went back to my tweet you
ready for this from September twenty eighth, from the day
of the Cat Trade, where I said, and it's posted
their video of us talking about it. Best of I said,
I fully expect and I'm ready for the Knicks t
Wolves NBA Finals now. And look where we are. We
are this close to a Knicks t Wolves NBA Finals. Well,

(02:34):
you got to get past the pasterers, buddy, No, no, no,
you are on my side for the next two hours
until the show is over.

Speaker 2 (02:40):
That way.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
But but it's midnight Easter. It doesn't matter. The show
is now, as you always say, the show is tonight. Well,
though it doesn't matter we did. They still play games
and he's got a good point still with the chair.
No no, Frostburg said, he is with me because the
Knicks are beating the knocking the Celtics out is the
biggest thing Laker fans can hope for. He said beginning

(03:02):
of the show, I'm with you until eleven o'clock tonight.
He just went full on I want I don't want
your title, I want your soul. He went full final
Boss on you to Tody Rhodes, Well, I'm glad you
talked about final Boss and souls and life and death. Yeah, no,
it gets deep. The Celtics reaction to the Nicks eliminating

(03:24):
them has really been something. Way do we tell you
what Paul Pierce had to say Celtic legend following the
Knicks eliminated in the reception on the side of the road.
I think he does. I think I think he's walking
to work again because the Knicks eliminated the Celtics was
hearing the ol freaking mobile antenna on his head and no,

(03:45):
you had the mobile McDonald's alongside. Oh but your sustenance.
We're gonna hear from Jalen Brown, who was the only
one having a big night for the Celtics before fouling
out in the third quarter twenty points and then said
I'm out boy. I'll tell you what Jalen bruns and thought, well, now,
Jaylen Brown foult on fair court. Someone named Jalen fouls
out in the third quarter of every game in the
Eastern consage will be interesting.

Speaker 4 (04:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:06):
Uh, here's Jayalen Brown getting really dark when it comes
to what they're dealing with the Celtics after losing to
the Knicks.

Speaker 4 (04:14):
Losing to the Knicks, you know, it feels like death.
But I was always taught that there's light after, there's
life out to death. So we'll get ready for whatever's next,
whatever's next in his journey, I'll be ready for Okay.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
In a macro point, I hope, I agree with him.
I hope there's life in our death. Smile. Friend starts
saying it like the disturbed version. I mean, I mean,
I hope there's something after this. I really do. I
mean I want the other than what is this for?
Like really, that's it? Like we don't have anything else,
Like it's eternity. But wow, that got really dark really
fast for the Celtics. It feels like death losing to

(04:51):
the Knicks. Yeah, I mean, you get the religious overtones
to it of the you know, resurrection, and you go
through that. We just added new Pope. Pope's not even
from Ball He's from Chicago. But that's the thing. He
didn't save the Boston Catholics there. He he couldn't get
the Bulls the number one pick, and that didn't get
that coin flip. It was a fifty to fifty proposition.
He couldn't kill that Caleb Williams story, So that didn't

(05:13):
Emba bears. Once he done, he's been, he's been. So
he's been such a disappointment as a pope for Chicago
sports fan so far. Really, I don't know Man, to
be fair, I don't believe it's in the job description
to be a miracle worker. I think I think for
being I'm pretty sure Frostburg, do you think it's in
the job description of the pope to be a miracle worker.
I'm pretty sure that's in the first second. Yes, that's

(05:33):
top of the residence. Yeah, you have to pull off miracle.
That's if he's a saint. That's Saint Leo, not Bope. Hope, Hope.
He's still dealing with the fallacy of man pope pulls
up to. I think that people expect the pope to
pull off miracles. The bear season is not upon us.
Just yes, my friend, remember Oh God with George Burns
who plays what he plays John? Yeah, so God? You got?

(05:55):
I got explained to jen X's Now what what Oh God?

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Was?

Speaker 3 (05:58):
So?

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Go God? Is this movie from the seventies. There are
a couple of sequels where George Burns plays God and
John Denver is the star. I know it sounds wait
John Denver, Yes, John Denver, Country West Virginia, Mountain Mama.
And there's a part where John Denver doesn't believe him
and he says, okay, if you're God, what's your last miracle?
And George Burns says the sixty nine minutes. Okay, I'll

(06:23):
get it now. I think people do expect miracles from
the pope. I don't think there's one person that is says, well, hey,
you know, pop LEO might be great, but don't expect
any miracles.

Speaker 2 (06:31):
No.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
I think that's fully that sentence. That's line one. When
you're being interviewed to be pope before the conclave, they go,
can you perform miracles? If you say no, they cross
you off and go, okay, let's go. Sorry, go you're
not gonna be pope? Well spoiler yeah, you don't need
to see the last twenty minutes or so. It builds nicely, though,
it really does. It's like so many other movies. Oh

(06:54):
I'm so excited about the end. Nah, come on, but
the idea like I gave you flowers, right, you get
I love the excitement and I tweeted it out. It's like,
all right, I'll always have the two thousand and five
White Sox, those nineties Bulls, right, including ninety five, you know,
and then when ninety six and then you have the
ninety six Wildcats they got to the Rose Bowl. They
got thumped by Keishawn Johnson and company. But ninety six

(07:17):
and then the ten, thirteen and fifteen Blackhawks and then
nineteen eighty five. Well, the Super Bowl played in eighty six,
So this next year is gonna come apartment and the
Pope gets to start. Now, he gets started out. The
White Sox went went four and one in their first
five games after election of the Pope. Also, don't forget

(07:38):
last Pope did a whole thing where there was a
whole new crew into that voting delegation. So you know
he's working some magic bit by bit, but you know,
wasn't built in a day. No, no, no, But well,
especially if if you're something feels like death, you are
definitely starting from the resurrection Jaylen Brown though, I mean

(07:58):
because look, the way of the world was on his shoulders,
like death shouldn't have filled out in the third SMEs well,
but especially when folks start. I mean, look, Kentdrick Perkins
said they need to find Jesus. But you had all
sorts of folks going, well, I mean, you're better without
Jason Tatum out there. That was a narrative because you
could pick the ten and two stats. I don't. They
played a lot of bum teams when he wasn't there,

(08:18):
and they won a game that the Knicks more or
less threw in the towel in the third quar I
mean all of that to say, Jalen Brown, he's feeling it,
and I hope he's okay. Did you know that Jesus
lived here in the good old USA? Okay, So I'm
gonna see that next month. But there's Jalen Brown. Now
here's Paul Pierce put this video up on social media.

(08:41):
Sitting there on a Friday night, looks like a red
solo cup in his hand, fire going and uh, let's
file this under the category of boy, how bitter can
you be following this game? The answer is this from
Paul Pierce.

Speaker 5 (08:56):
You know, whatever New York is, the pace was gonna pop,
y'all though y'all know that, right, y'all know that the
Pacers is gonna get y'all. So I don't even want
to hear all that, like, yeah, y'all feeling good, y'all
beat the say, y'all beat it, y'all be an injured
Celtics team. Y'all beat an injured Celtics team. Bro, we

(09:20):
didn't have our our all NBA player first, the MVP
candidate who led us in all these categories. So, uh,
you know, whatever, the shout out to.

Speaker 2 (09:35):
Y'all in New York the end.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
Let me just say, let me just say this, sometimes
it's not always great to post on social media. I'm
just saying certain times you should probably not post on
the Giant don't hit zend. But pretty sure the Celtics
were healthy when when it was Celtics in four, Pretty
sure that the Knicks were going up three to one,
whether or not Jason Tatum was still playing or not.
How bitter does he sound as a Celtics fan, Well,

(09:57):
we lost, You're gonna lose to the Pacers. He sounds
like a ten year old kid on the playground. But
what he sounds like loose to the Pacers, You steak
goose taking. That's what he sounds like. But we went
through all of the would be sometimes by default legends
of Nicks them past and what did you say? They're
always Nicks. Paul Pierce got that title, he got that wheelchair.

(10:22):
He'll always be a Celtics legend. Now you might have
something else here on a Friday night again, as he's
watching this game, which gets him into his fields, because
I gotta imagine if you had his phone up, how
many guys that he played with in the league, that
he deals with in his media career were blowing up
his phone for the bravado he talked before the series.

(10:46):
So now the chickens came home to roost. Unfortunately you
hit send. He already he already had to walk to work.
Allegedly he had to walk to work. Well, he at
least walked a couple of steps on that. He sounds
like like like, it sounds like what I say it,
but I'm being serious. It sounds like an argument, a
sports argument that I would have or friends would have

(11:08):
when I was ten years old. But it's also still
that it sounds like man. But but I mean, look
when we get both ends of it, like after next
got drum tonight, you would not be a happy, go
lucky guy. You'd be salty as hell, And don't tell
me you wouldn't be if suddenly you were staring down
the barrel of a game set. But I'm not gonna
sit here and say, oh, they're gonna you're gonna get
your ask the next round anyway. Like, really, you sound

(11:31):
like a kid. You sound like a little kid. I
already told you the nix's a sweeping the faces. But like,
I mean, he sounds like a little kid. I guess
not always. Social media isn't always your friend at midnight
on a Friday night. It sounds like the little kid
who might have gotten gotten the key. Really, it's a

(11:52):
it's a it's a ten year old argument. It's it's
argument that I would get and I would get from
friends if I was ten years old. And we're gonna
lose next round anyway, So it doesn't matter you guys,
stay God, we're still better than you. Like that, that's
what It does have one valid point, though, what remember
you're on my side Frostburg for their hour and forty
five minutes. You are gonna get popped by the pace.

(12:15):
There was his heel turn right there, hitting by music.
I mean, you think a guy that had to walk
to work, would learn his lesson about saying, oh, the
pacers gonna pop you anyway, you'd have to actually walk
to work to learn your lesson. Allegedly, allegedly, allegedly, I
just I just want I just congratulate the Knicks, because listen, uh,

(12:35):
the two most expensive places for real estate in this
in this country are New York and Los Angeles. Sure,
and and the Knicks apparently live rent free in the
head of Paul Pierce. So it's a nice place to live.
Nice place later living there, rent free, it's really really nice.
Not a bad way to be. Yeah, there you are.
I'm in the I'm in the Paul Pierce area of
the brain here. What we needed was a guy in
the background, though, picking a guitar, singing a sad song.

(12:58):
That would have been great, like I truly had a campfire,
like he'd gone out to the desert, maybe maybe to
watch the stars or something. Paul Pierce, let me just say,
maybe you should walk to work again. It must have
been lovedn't didn't want to have to walk, didn't want
the first time over. Now there was video of him

(13:20):
actually not in a car that was put up on
social media that I got There's also video of the
Celtics winning tonight somewhere Birth Exit Out, buy a Fresco
Exit Swallowed. Paul Pierce, Hey, you want to come on
tonight and talk about the Hey, that's fine man eight

(13:40):
seven seven ninety nine on Fox. You want to come
on and talk about this game, talk about this series
one any time, any time. Jason Smith Mike Harmon live
from the Fox Sports Radio Studios. Coming up next. It
was a big day in the NFL because a day
we've been waiting for for the last two two and

(14:00):
a half years got here, and then some we break
it down next, Jason to Mike Fox. From searching online

Speaker 2 (15:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
I'm sitting court side next to Shallo May.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Jessee. Howard Stern said today that he'll never go to
a Knicks game again if he has to sit in
the second row. Like I'm a first row for once,
I'm not in the first row. I'm not going to
games anymore. Like this shows you the hey to go
to a Knicks game and sit court side a big deal.
But there's like the game within the game. It's like, well,
I'm a first row celebrity. I'm not a second row celebrity.

(15:43):
I'm not gonna sit there. If I'm not a first
row celebrity, I don't go to the games. Be thankful
someone still wants to give you a seat, right, I mean,
that's the first time, other than making a reference to
private parts and pig vomit, that I've heard the name
Howard Stern in a very long time. Oh we actually
we actually mentioned stuttering John earlier in the show. I'm

(16:04):
just saying, like, in terms of where he's at in
my head space and I consume a lot of media, Yeah,
he ain't there once once once he went to satellite
and he made all that money. It was like wow,
like he I mean really it was, you know, a
lot of money for him. I'm sure doing well, but
oh good for him the impact he had. This is
the guy that built radio. Like I mean, you, we're

(16:24):
doing what we do for a living partly because of
how successful he was showing you you can grow the
radio brand and you can make a lot of money
at it. You can be bigs, have big stars. Doesn't
need to be a DJ like Wolfman Jack playing playing
songs all the time, going hey, let's go back to
American graffiti back in nineteen seventy tw Let's play big
vomits w man. No, I must knows how to say.

(16:47):
Let me go get him down the hall.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
And for people that don't know how it works at MSG, yes,
they pay these celebrities.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
They beg them to come to games. Yes, it's that's
how it works. Celebrity row there. They give you the tickets.
They didn't beg anybody to come tonight. They don't pay
for those tickets. They didn't beg anybody to go. But
either way, it's the public's going. I get my seat, right,
I can get a seat. Shoa do I get to
sit next to Shallo? May you know what while we're
on top of you guys going to the game Frostburg,

(17:14):
maybe you agree with me. Monsey Alex says, you watch
this game. You got all these celebrities we keep showing. Yeah,
Spike Lee did not look like he was having the
best time when they showed him. He wasn't jumping up
and down, and they didn't were just sitting there. They
didn't need him to coach tonight. That's why they were
up by forty. Need to go work the official, I
mean what look, go go back to the last game

(17:35):
when he's yelling you the official that's a walk. It's
a walk defense. Nobody told them the next we're going
to do this. Nobody told he's never been here before.
Actually it was a new experience. It has been a
long long time. Get ready, get ready for the Knicks
and four in the Eastern Conference. Yet right, I got
the series ads, get ready series odds okay, go ahead
minus won sixty okay, which implies a sixty two percent

(17:57):
probability minus give a four point to home favorite in
game one.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
You guys, just wait, Jason, you wait till all these
so called celebrities have to go back in the witness
protection when they lose to the Baser.

Speaker 1 (18:09):
You're on my side for another hour and a half.
My bad. You said no, no, the clock struck midnight.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Now yours got me all Sorryancer's gonna pop you.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
His sad speech at the fireside. Hey, you know what, listen, Paul,
if you want to walk, Hey, if you want to
walk into work here from wherever you are right now,
I'll let you do the rest of the show. I
will take my Nick's ass out and I will leave
and you can do the rest of the show. Here, Paul, Yeah,
but you know you want to walk here? You could
come do the show. You drive the same street I
do to get out of here. How many times have
been run into a pack of coyotes the last couple

(18:41):
of weeks. He ain't walking that road right now? They
go over by the dumpster restaurants over here. You gotta
be careful. Why are you by the dumpster? Mike? I'm
just saying when I'm leaving here and I'm driving away,
it's a good chicken and Welcome to episode of Dumpster
Dive with Mike Harmon. Well, today we're gonna take a

(19:04):
look at say, oh, there was a barely used cup
that I could go back and use for Retails's red
solo cup. Look at all this white Sox stuff. That's okay. Hey, hey, hey, hey,
how dare you? We'll love more n the Pope's team
coming up in the field. You could have helped him
a little bit more. But today was a day in

(19:24):
the NFL we had been kind of I don't say
looking forward to, but we have been talking about for
the last two and a half year. Sure, and this
was this is Jamal Adams return to the Jets. Yeah, yeah,
ja yeah, just wait by the phone, Jamal, I'll give
you a call to come back to a team you
talked your way out of. Yeah, one hundred percent.

Speaker 5 (19:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
Yeah, but there's new people there. He can give us
snow job. Somebody is crazy. He got He forgets how
how much he pushed to leave the Jets, and now
today he doesn't. He doesn't talk to what Jets fans saying, Hey,
I want to come back, dude, you're just so desperate
for any job in the NFL. Yeah. Not wait by
your phone, I'll call it. He's just following the Revis Blake.

(20:05):
Dude didn't have one twentieth the career Revis happened. I'm
just saying he's trying to have the same effects. I
can come back, can't I just really quick, you know,
because he comes out today he says, I want to
finish my career the Jets where I started twenty nine
years old. Yeah, and I want a billion dollars Yeah yeah,
well yeah, sure you haven't been a chance of that happening. Uh.
Just the fact to hear him say, yeah, I want
to go back where it started finish. I could be

(20:26):
the older Vet and I can kind of show the
young guys the way all my experience, I wanted to say, dude,
what kind of career do you think you have had
in the NFL? Do you think you're Ronnie Lot? Like
You're gonna walk off the field and go right to
the Hall of Fame and you're just gonna play a
couple of seasons with the Raiders at the end.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
What what?

Speaker 1 (20:43):
What do you what kind of career do you really
think you have had? You're gonna suddenly show the way
you couldn't stay on the field. You talked your way
out of a situation where the team wanted to make
you their franchise player, and you are now what is
widely referred to as the war first NFL trade of
the last fifteen years. Like, what do you what do

(21:04):
you think your legacy is? Man? Do you think Nico
had a hand in that? Maybe? No? Maybe Pe Carroll
called Nicole. Hey, I don't know what to do. You're
you're the deciding vote. Oh yeah, yeah, take that deal.
You want to get up two first round picks for
a box safety that we don't know if you can
cover anybody? Yeah, I gotta make that move, Make the move,
make the move now. Suddenly, Oh, I want to go
back where. Yeah no, I remember you lighting the bridges

(21:26):
on fire with the Jets, with all your interviews everything.
Yeah no, no, good luck, good luck Jamal Adams. Good luck.
But the brocolipse is here. You had flashbacks. You made
me upset on a night positivity and then voke the
name of Jamal Adams and it was like the the

(21:48):
eyes went dark. It's like Jaws right with the bite
in like a doll's. I don't even care the Mets
lost to night. You bring up Jamal Adams. Great, you
bought the number one football story. Fabian. Oh, my dad
text me like twenty minutes ago, Hey, how the Mets
due tonight? I go, I had no time for the
Mets tonight. I had bigger fish to fry than that.
Thank you very much. Like I said, I didn't watch

(22:09):
one second of the metsican tonight because of the Knicks.
Was part of Fabiano's text to trade offer. I was, No,
that's not gonna be till the summer. It's after we
have the rookie draft in fantasy. No, that's like I
had no time for the metsine that's great, but I
was locked in on the next like my wife would
say to me, Hey, can we go here today? Can
we can we go to Trader Joe's after lunch and

(22:29):
then can we go here? I gotta stop and get this. Hey,
I'm sorry, I'm locked in on the Knicks. I can't
really do anything today, thank you. So I could just
sit in front of the TV and maybe mindlessly watching,
but I'm locked in on the Knicks. I really don't
have time. I don't think we're gonna have enough time
or the whole depot. I can't do it. I'm sorry,
I'm sorry. Shoho Tani is just homered for the Dodgers

(22:49):
bottom of the eighth inning, cut that Angel's lead to
four to two. Wanted to bring you that real fast.
But the Brocalypse is here. As we said, yeah, brock
Party is now going to be is San Francisco forty
nine or for at least the next five years, signing
a five year extension with the team worth two hundred
and sixty five million dollars. One hundred and eighty one

(23:10):
million of that money is guaranteed. Brock Party here he is.
You're still saying it like like it was said it
Paul Haymen two years ago Paul Hayman said it to
super right before the One Day had that introduction. So
here's brock Purdy getting paid. And there's a couple of
reasons why he got this money, and the first one

(23:33):
is this first one is because of where he got drafted. Right,
mister irrelevant shows up and is the third quarterback. He's
only playing his rookie year because everybody else got hurt,
Jimmy got hurt, Trey Lance got hurt. Here comes Brockbert.
Wait a minute, brock Purty's not bad, has a really
good second year, great second year, gets from the Super Bowl,

(23:53):
nearly wins. Not a great year last year, but still
brock Purty has proved himself to be to be a
really good quarterback. Well, when you have a guy that
you get is mister irrelevant and all we've heard for
the last two and a half years, I'm sure it's
all John Lynch's heard and Kyle Shannon, Boy, look how
lucky we got getting brock party because they know how
fortunate they were to draft a quarterback that fits with

(24:15):
what they do as an offense, and he has turned
into someone that has solved the future at the position
they thought they had it when they had Garoppolo, it
didn't work so great. I mean it worked okay, he
got to the super Bowl, but Garoppolo couldn't stay healthy,
could rebuild on being the star we thought he was
gonna be when he got traded. So when you when
you were and you know you're lucky to get brock Party,

(24:37):
you're not gonna let that guy escape because it looks
really bad. If boy, you got lucky getting this guy,
and you're gonna let him walk, You're letting, You're gonna
nicol and Diamond, You're gonna you're gonna franchise him and
and and try to to see if you really want
to pay him like teams do with other quarterbacks. No,
because you know how lucky you were to get him,
and you took Trey Lance number three overall and he

(24:57):
didn't work out. You know you can't let him out.
You have to because of where he got drafted, because
you got lucky getting him. You understand how hard it
is to get a quarterback and how fortunate you were.
You want to pay him, and there was never any
question he was going to get paid. The forty nine
ers had This was pretty This is pretty painless as
far as negotiations go. Now you want to flip it

(25:17):
and you say, okay, so what's your point? Oh, they
paid him becausey were lucky. If he was taken third
overall in the draft. Let's just say things were switching.
Party had a great senior year in college and he
was taken number three overall in the draft. Let's say
Perdy had the exact three years he just had being
the number three overall pick. What would be the general
consensus on Purdy? Ooh, before we give him fifty five

(25:39):
sixty million dollars a year, we want to make sure
he's the guy because you're drafting him with a much
bigger pedigree, and you have better hopes than coming off
a down year this year. Way, when his weapons were healthy,
he was terrific. When his weapons weren't healthy, he was
just ordinary. He was just average. Is he that special?
When you draft a guy that high, you have bigger

(26:01):
hopes and bigger expectations for him. So if he's coming
off the last three years as the number three pick
in the draft, the forty nine are trying to slow
play it. Maybe they are saying, we're gonna franchise you
for you. Maybe we'll let you play one more year
before we try to give you money, and then everything
would be forgiven because now we're gonna give you big money.
But if he was a number three overall pick, this
is not how this would have ended, because they would

(26:21):
have been looking to make sure he was worth more
because of where they drafted him. But here they got
him in the as mister irrelevant. Boy, we're lucky. We
can't let him escape. We got to give him the
money because if we let him go out, Boy, how
stupid are we got lucky that we got it. We
didn't have any real draft acumen. We were throwing darts
at the end. When you take a guy in the
seventh round, you're absolutely throwing darts. Wait when you get
to the fourth round, you're throwing darts. But with a

(26:42):
quarterback in the seventh round, you're just taking a guy
who was there. Hey, maybe maybe he's smart. You're talking
about a guy for five minutes, Hey, that pretty guy.
Would we have that five minute conversation? Yeah, he seemed
like okay, yeah, let's go get brock Purty. They know
how fortunate they were, so you want to go over
the top to make sure you keep him. It's where
he got drafted, which he benefited him today crazy enough
because he didn't get paid a lot the first three years,

(27:03):
but now he's getting overly so because of that. Yeah,
dollar cost averaging comes back to it. I mean, he's
the next man up, and you're looking at institutional knowledge
and what he what he is. Right when you make
that draft choice, you're looking at a guy with a
pretty pretty good accomplished resume as a college quarterback. He's
helped by the fact that you look at everybody else
in his draft class ready, super Bowl champion, Kenny Pickett, Ritter, Willis, Howell,

(27:32):
lou Zappi. Yeah that no, no, not not really, so you
know he's the last man standing. But it's the idea. Well,
Picket's still out there for now. But we were started
by saying super Bowl champion Kenny because he was. He
is a super Bowl champion. He can't take that away. Okay,
all right, all right, he earned it. He was there

(27:52):
in film review and was there on the practice fields.
He got it done, showed up a bit. But all
of that to say, you've got a guy that when
you him, like, all right, here's what he is, he
could fit what we do and the forty nine ers. Now,
they've had a number of misfires, even going back to
the famous trade. Now, they got Fred Warner in the
fourth round, but the trade they made up top going

(28:13):
back to twenty seventeen wasn't exactly the brilliant move that
they thought it was right in terms of what they
got from the Bears. But all of that to say,
they've had a few misfires, but generally they're one of
the organizations that you have some level of trust in
terms of continuity consisting. Nobody's getting thrown out the door, right,
It's not like they're revolving door of coaches or front

(28:35):
office executives, your GM, etc. So it's the how do
we keep the line moving? Now we're moving these ancillary parts,
secondary parts, the skill position. Guys were betting on Christian
McCaffrey to come back to some reasonable facsimile of the
guy he was before he got hurt. Not that those
other running backs didn't have their moments, but they're not

(28:56):
game changers, right, you're not game planning for those running backs. Well,
now McCaffrey comes back, and if he's close to himself
or he's playing more in the slot, it changes things up,
you find other hitters downfield alongside Jennings, hoping that Kitt'll
gives you another year or two before he decides he
wants to be in a steel cage as part of
a premium live event for the WWE. But all of

(29:18):
that for perty, Yeah, institutional, you're not making a change,
Like why would you go into free agency or dare
you say, hey, let's go to the draft. I just
read you the laundry list and the graveyard of guys
from that draft class with him, Right, it's not exactly
a murder's row. And every year we do this, here's
five guys. This twenty twenty four is the outlier. Right,

(29:40):
Every once in a while we get twenty eighteen twenty
twenty four. Every six years, guess what, six years have
not elapsed. So this next rookie class no guarantee that
all of a sudden, these guys are going to be
a bunch of wizards that come in, Like you say, wizards,
So you stay with what you got, wizards. If it
really is weird to say his contract benefited him because

(30:02):
of where he got drafted, was it? Yeah, he got
drafted late lately, one pick away from not getting drafted
at all. Right, but that's I mean, when you get lucky,
you gotta hold on to them. Well, it's also the
cacophony of voices that come in. If he's a third,
third overall pick. Now he still has a quarterback rating
of one hundred and five for his career. It touchdown
to intercept all those that you would make the argument.

(30:24):
But when you're the third overall pick, that's when the
blowhearts all over. Should we be expecting more? And maybe
that gives you a little white knuckledness in your front
offices time how to find out what's trending in the
wide world of sports. So someone who's been called the
Kenny Pickett of Fox Sports Radio champ, they both have
the same size hands. Take that back right now, it's

(30:45):
Monty Belano's.

Speaker 6 (30:46):
He must have small hands.

Speaker 1 (30:48):
Well, yeah, that's the whole thing.

Speaker 6 (30:52):
Has that always been the thing?

Speaker 7 (30:52):
That small hands? Yeah? I guess yeah, he's.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
A bit yeah, got it because you know, for quarterbacks,
measure when you put your hand out a measure from
the tip of your thumb to the end of your pinky. Sure,
and he measures nine and three quarters inches, which is
not like day one quarterbacks to have at least like
ten gotcha? And is that really he's got smaller hands?

Speaker 7 (31:16):
Well, you know, well with my long nails, I might
actually have.

Speaker 1 (31:22):
Maybe like fourteen or fifteen inches.

Speaker 6 (31:24):
Yeah, win by long nails. That's I might beat. Can
he pick it?

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Yeah?

Speaker 6 (31:28):
There's two baseball games still.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
You're flying the bad guy from sinners at the very
end with the we haven't seen it. Oh sorry, he's played.
They're a bad guy with claws.

Speaker 6 (31:37):
I figure.

Speaker 7 (31:38):
But I want to see it. I want to see it,
so I just haven't seen it. Two games still going
on in the world of baseball. Angels and Dodgers out
of Dodger Stadium, and it's the top of the ninth innen.
Angels are up four to two when they head into
the bottom of the ninth inning and it's going to
beat Kenley Jensen coming in to try to save the
day for the Angels in a stadium that he's very
familiar with. The Giants are all over the but it's

(32:00):
all been Wilmer Flores. He hit a grand Slam and
then he hit a three run shots. So they're up
on the A's eight to one. It's the bottom of
the eighth inning in San Francisco. Ohsho Heo Toni did homer.
He now leads major League Baseball with sixteen by the way,
but the Dodgers are losing right now. The Tigers held
on five to four against the Blue Jays, and the
Blue Jays Detroit is the first team to reach thirty wins.

Speaker 6 (32:21):
The Yankees defeated the Mets six to two behind Aaron.

Speaker 7 (32:23):
Judge, who was batting four fourteen the twin sev one
twelve in a row. After shutting out the Brewers three zero,
The Astro snapped the Rangers six game winning streak with
the six to three win.

Speaker 6 (32:33):
The Diamondbacks blanked the.

Speaker 7 (32:35):
Rockies eight zero, and the Mariners top the Padres five
to one. In the NBA, the Knicks are headed to
the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since two
thousand after dominating the Celtics in Game six one, nineteen
to eighty one. This was the largest playoff win in
franchise history for New York. Jalen Brunson, Karl Anthony, Towns,
og Onoobi and mckel bridges all ended with twenty or

(32:56):
more points. For Boston, Jalen Brown fouled out late in
the third quarter and ended with twenty points as their
leading scorer. Nuggets Ford Aaron Gordon has been diagnosed with
the left hamstrings train and his status isn't out for
Game seven against the Thunder on Sunday. Another Game seven
on Sunday. This time it's on the ice between the
maple Leaves and the Panthers. After the maple Leaves shut
them out to zero, Austin Matthews scored his first goal

(33:19):
of the series to break a scoreless tie in the
third period, and the WNBA started tonight fellas Page Beckers,
the number one overall pick. She went three for ten,
ten points, seven rebounds, and her team, the Wings, lost
to the Links ninety nine to eighty four.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
Back to you, guys, did you bet Paige Beckers over
under for pot?

Speaker 6 (33:37):
Absolutely did not?

Speaker 1 (33:38):
No, no, no, okay, you sure about that?

Speaker 6 (33:40):
I'm positive?

Speaker 1 (33:41):
Well, I'm curious what are over under for points?

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Was?

Speaker 1 (33:43):
I got to think more than ten? Right all though?
Remember a gun balley.

Speaker 6 (33:46):
Takes all the shots, and she does, that's true.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Would she have twenty five points on twenty five shots?
Is that what she had tonight? Did she?

Speaker 6 (33:52):
I don't let me tell you right now?

Speaker 1 (33:54):
Was she had?

Speaker 6 (33:55):
Was she the leading scorer for them.

Speaker 7 (33:57):
She was she had sixteen points. Nafisa Collier had thirty
four pounds.

Speaker 1 (34:01):
How many he had thirty How many shots were gun
Biwally sixteen points? And how many shows?

Speaker 6 (34:06):
Sixteen points? And she took twelve shots?

Speaker 1 (34:09):
Okay, Becker's over under was fourteen and a half? Lost it. Wow.

Speaker 7 (34:15):
Kelsey Plumb had a good game for her thirty seven.

Speaker 6 (34:18):
Yeah, he's definitely.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Got her game.

Speaker 6 (34:19):
Thirty seven, six assists, five steals.

Speaker 7 (34:21):
Sparks beat the Valkyries, the new team in the w
NBA eighty four.

Speaker 6 (34:24):
To sixty seven.

Speaker 1 (34:25):
That's you met the over for Kelsey Plump.

Speaker 6 (34:29):
A big fan of Kelsey Plum.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
And time she's getting the fine Sparks Fever Sparks Fever finals.
That would be good.

Speaker 6 (34:37):
That would be fine.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
You're ready with more fixing coming up next? Speaking of
the NBA playoffs, there is now one game left in
the second round. Bad news for the Nuggets today. It
looks like Aaron Gordon is not going to play. When
you're doubtful, it generally means you're not going to play. Thanks,
how many guys, I'll tell you why the Nuggets are

(34:59):
going to win anyway? That's next Radio Jason and Mike
Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 2 (35:05):

Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 1 (35:13):
Hey, Celtics, the only see I see here, Fox Sports Radio,
Jason Smith Mike Harmon, Live from the Fox Sports Radio Studios.

Speaker 2 (35:25):
That's me.

Speaker 1 (35:26):
Come out, Knicks fans. We are celebrating like we won
the finals tonight. This is as good as it gets.
It might be. It might be. I mean, they're celebrating
like we won the finals tonight, like, hey, we just
did it. Everybody we won, we did it? Might be
all we did. Listen, just said the finals. It's well

(35:46):
the NBA finals. Let we just won the championship, sorry, championship,
like they celebrating instead of, hey, we're out of the
second round of the playoffs, champion. I think even Portland
celebrated like this when they got to the Western Conference
finals a couple of years ago. It was wow, he
got to the Western Conference finals. Not even close. But
it doesn't matter, right because you know, you know, I
always worry, Hey, is a team gonna feel self satisfied?

(36:09):
Moving on? When I looked at Brunson's response, like when
the clock hit zero and he was ready to walk
off the floor with a look on his face like
I'm ready to play another game. I'm ready for the
Pacers right now. Like that's when I knew everything is fine.
Like then, the Knicks weren't jumping up and down and
going crazy. When I saw the look on Brunson's face,
I said, Okay, this is for us to celebrate. You'll

(36:30):
be ready. The next game is not till Wednesday. Everything
is fall well, he said. He had the look like
he in his head he was hearing the lyrics from
Steve Fuller's part of the Super Bowl Shuffle. So bring
on Atlanta, Bring on Dallas. This is from Mike and
Papa Bear Hollis like, hey, we got work to do. Yeah,
it's fun and for everybody, all this is gonna be said.

(36:52):
The Knicks are just happy. No Knicks fans are just happy. Okay,
we again, we haven't had we haven't been in the cut.
The Knicks have not been in the conference finals in
twenty five years. One of the mantras of the show
now often said, and then day to day you try
to live it, but you find your wins when you
have the opportunity to celebrate something. The sandwich was better
than you expected. The dog you didn't have to walk

(37:15):
him in the cold, and extra twenty five minutes, all
of those kind of things, right, little things that make
your day. You didn't have to hit the snow. You know,
you didn't wake up early and then stare there at
the clock, going please, can I fall back asleep? I
don't have to get up for two hours? Oh Lenny,
little win for Knicks fans. It's twenty five years of waiting, wishing, wanting, hoping,

(37:36):
and now it's we at least a step closer. We
can party on Friday to Friday nights, Take the next
few nights off, be ready for Wednesday, right red hand,
it's Friday night. Like that's the other thing to triple
underscore home court advantage. As long as they play, that's
a whole other world, mixed up home court of Depending

(37:56):
on how this game goes, that'll be a longer run
than Taylor's Billy Joel. Now, how could this happen? Well,
if the Nuggets find a way to win Game seven
on Sunday against the thunder And as much as this
would ruin my k next final four, right, because the
final four it's like a hallmark well very nixt Christmas.

(38:19):
Hicks and the Pacers their longtime rival. They've met eight
times in the playoffs and legendary battles. So Nick Pacers,
you got Randall and Devincenzo with with the t Wolves,
and it have Hartenstein with the with the Thunder. Okay,
it would ruin this, but I'm taking Denver even though
Aaron Gordon looks like he's not gonna play Sunday. He's
doubtful right now and normally now the last ten twelve

(38:41):
years in sports, if someone is doubtful for a game,
it means they're not going to play. They wouldn't make
him doubtful if they thought he could play even without him.
I will take the Nuggets in Game seven because they
still have that championship mentality. The Thunder are young and
this will be the time to feel the pressure. This
is a big pressure game. We've seen the Nuggets give

(39:02):
away a lead before and reel the Thunder back in.
And if you're thinking, well, Jays, you're gonna need Jokic
to have a huge night, I'll tell you right now,
just like I told you last night, this is gonna
be a Karl Anthony Towns night for the Knicks said
take the over. We did our DraftKings picks. Take the
over first points. It's a Karl Anthony Towns night. And
he was out big with thirteen points in the first quarter.
Sunday's gonna be a Jamal Murray game. This is one

(39:24):
of those game seven forty point games from Jamal Murray,
and the Nuggets have enough because they've been through it before,
and it's gonna be a little bit of here's the
pressure on the Thunder. I'll take the Nuggets to escape
and Jamal Murray having a heroic forty point game. Now
you look at the what would Vegas say, right? Where
did money move seven and a half a little bit

(39:45):
earlier tonight moved out to eight eight and a half
depending on where you are, And that's the Thunder being favored,
of course. So but the curiosity then becomes, all right,
who are the others to step up? You do have
a Knicks connection. DeAndre Jordan wasn't there? Yeah, yeah, but
this is last year's next team. This is like everybody
I'm good with the Knicks left I didn't get. Everybody

(40:07):
the Knicks had last year is in the finals this year.
So I'm just trying to help you out. So there's
at least some moving interest of a guy that wore
a Knicks jersey for a minute, so you have that opportunity.
I'm looking at the same idea. Adelman is irrelevant in
all of this. It comes down to championship medal guys
who've been there. Yokichill slow things down. Those games where

(40:27):
he struggled early in the series. Those are a long
time ago exit out about a Fresco exit Swallen Dome.
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carbon Live from the
Fox Sports Radio Studios. We have more NBA on the way,
trust me. But next we get back into the biggest
NFL story of the day and can explain why a
very special someone got a lot of money. Jason and
