and they play the movie the Hollywood Bowl and and
you know, you sing along. Everybody sings. It's an awesome thing.
Wear ather Jockety've gone and a lot of people did.
I did, most people. We've gone to the past and
it gets pretty crazy. My favorite of the dress ups

was that the people who dressed the Beauty School dropouts,
they wore the big silver you know stuff. They had
light up stuff in their hair and they walked around
when Beauty Schoolspout came on singing it was awesome, right,
because they do the costume contest and all that. Oh,
it was great. It's an awesome thing, right. So Hollywood
bol does this all the time at great big concert
venue here in Los Angeles. And so the beginning we
get out there, they're gonna play the movie're gonna sing

along to it, and Dede Khnn comes out, who played Frenchy,
and she comes out she sounds exactly like she did
in the movie. Was I'm like, oh my god, Dede
Conn is out. She's talking to the audience, saying, let
me tell you a story. This is what happened when
I was back in It was great, right, it's okay.
She talks for a couple minutes, all right, we're just
see the movie, and then she goes, I have a
surprise for you guys, and then all of a sudden,
she brings out the people who played Putsy and Sonny

and uh Duty and they come like, oh my god.
All these guys came out like oh and they all
tell stories about about Greece and everything. I'm like, oh,
that's really cool. And now we get a point. Okay,
let's see the movie. Now it's like, are they've been
hanging out about twenty twenty five minutes telling fun stories?
Telling fun stories. I'm like, okay, that's great. And then
she goes, I, you know, we have one more surprise

for you, and I'm going okay, And in my head
I go it's either travolt or Stock or Channing, right, yeah,
other are the only ones. I'm Nicky game No and
Bliviy Newton Johnny they had a nice moment for her
as well, and I'm like, it's gotta be And all
of a sudden, Travolta comes out. We're like, and he's
got a big wig on, like he's at the big
pompadoor Andy, and the whole place goes crazy, insane. I

mean the whole the whole Hollywood Bowl goes nuts. And
like Elvis walked in and he walks up, and then
she says, are you ready for the movie and he goes.
I thought, wait, I thought Sandy was going back to
Australia right like he played it and he was. It
was great. Heau's only up there for a couple of minutes,
you know, everybody else. He gave them the spotlight, you know,
did like the again, the three of them and Deede
Conrup there for quite a while. I'm going, oh my goodness,

troump So I texted you, going, oh my god, Travolta
just walked out. And then like ten minutes later it's
this big news. I'm like, yeah, oh my goodness. I
wish I had known I could have. I would have
taken the video, put it right up on social media.
I had no idea. Flew up so fast because I
had no idea, so you know, to pull the curtain
back whenever you're out and from Osburg and he was

off as well on Friday, you know, and Arnie sits
in particularly he will badger me the entire night. Where's Jason?
Speaker 3 (05:08):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (05:09):
I'm like, Oh no, why don't you know? I'm like,
cause we see each other for twenty hours plus a week.
At the end of that, do we tell each other
where we're going when we have a day off. No,
it's enjoy your time off. I'll see you on Monday.
And so he's like, why don't you care? Like you
sure he's okay? And he goes into this and like, yes,

he's fine. Again. We don't keep tabs on each other.
I don't know where his phone is and where he
is every minute of the day. You should have told
him Jason was interviewing for the next job. Hey, that
would have been a good line. Hey, people in my
in my social media profile say at this point, why
don't we interview? How about a fresca? There was a
whole life thinking, hey, why not, right, I could do

We'll get to Mike Brown. Hey, I could do it
todayfe I could do it. I could do that. I
could do the show and coach Nicks at the same time.
I can do that. Yeah. Still more rumors about you know,
people talking to the Knicks. But but it's really he
gets really concerned that you and all don't keep on
each other. The whole time. He's like, don't you care?
Like I hope he's having a nice day off. That's all.

so once you finally you know, sent me that thing,
I go, hey, Arnie, I now know where he is?
Where and I said, he's there. He goes, well, that's
really cool. I would never go why would you go
to something like that?

Well, you know, Greece is such a big movie. It's
it's pam and ized movie from when we first met,
and you know, Zoe was in Greece last year. But
he goes into he took a day off for that.
Why would you waste? Like it's like it was so awesome?

he comes out, he doesn't though you're going back to Australia, Sandy.
It was kind of funny. And then then he's only

up there for cop and then he just goes, are
everybody ready? He goes, yeah, like what are you ready for?
He just goes a wa Bob bloo bom, every goes
Awa bomb and everybody. I mean, it was the whole
place went, get the horns, going out, the opening room
where we go, Yeah, it was it was. It was
fad you stay for the scientology pitch. It was at
the end they make you stay at the end and

uh and and you have to go through. But I
was able to sneak out, so I feel pretty good.
Either that or it drifts into a bunch of guys
saying hello, I have a book written by Jesus. You
don't know which way it's gonna go. Do you want
to change religions? I got a book that was written
by Jesus. No, no, no, Jesus. No different guy, different

guy that Jesus. He's in the semi finals. I don't
know if he's in the finals yet. But the rolling
in the semis man, you gotta watch out League games smoke.
That's cool though, that you got to see that because
popped moment I was. I was amazed. And as soon
as saw Im said, oh my god, look at the pampador,
he's God. The hair. Did you go back and look
at pictures of it?

So that whining worse or better than Hayden Christiansen during

And I'm like, that's like the number one entertainment news.
Here's Travolta on stage at the Hollywood Bowl for not

Oh yeah, mixing it up with Sidney Sweeney doesn't by
kind of a big deal. Wait, how many people danced
and were hanging out with Sidney? It was Tom Brady,
it was Orlando Bloom like like she was like the
bell of the ball at the at the Bezo Sanchez. Well,

I mean generally I would think that, Okay, if she's
dancing with Tom Brady, we're gonna get pictures of her
and Tom Brady, not picture of her walking with Orlando
Bloom Both. Yeah, I mean, but what do they say
this weekend? Like everybody wanted to talk to her. She
was like the person every wanted to see and hoping
to get some of the soap that by the way.

Uh now, so speaking of the Knicks, Okay, this is
where I say, I could have saved thee in Bath.
I could have said, because we're TJ the Knicks are
cleaning house to bring in a new head coach. Uh.
Big news today the Knicks are bringing back Mike Brown
for a second interview. He is the first candidate they're

bringing back for a second interview. And as we talk
to NBA inside of Mark Medina on Friday night, he
said to us, Hey, everything I am hearing, Mike Brown
is your leader, is your runaway leader to be the
knicks next head coach. Right, and then there's I mean
maybe to throw people off the set. This weekend, there
was hey, maybe we get Jason Smith or Dawn Staley,
Hey let's go. But the night the Knicks fired Tips,
(10:28):
I keep going back, It's like, why, James Dolan, why
didn't you just hire me to help you do this search? Right?
Everybody you see teams they hire all these different to
hire the thirty third team, and different institutions say hey,
you know we're gonna help us find our next candidate. Yeah,
I could do that. I would have said, give me
fifty grand and I'll get you the guy. Right Cause
the first night I said, Mike Brown, he's the guy

he fits. He checks all the boxes you want, the
anti Tom Thibadau, which is why you're not talking to
Michael Malone. Right, that's the reason why you're not talking
about because you're bringing in the same guy. Right. Mike
Brown is more of a player's coach. You have to
go from disciplinary in the players coach because eventually you
guys are gonna tune you out. And they tuned out TIBs.
They didn't play defense. He couldn't get them to play defense.
Mike Brown different voice, excellent defensive system, his offensive system

works with the with the personnel the Knicks have. And
he is coaching big, big markets. He's coach big stars,
he's coaching big situations, coaching big cities. Like he's the
guy you want. Like, okay, Mike Brown is your guy.
Don't be stupid. They're oh, we're gonna call the Mavericks
for Jason. We're calling. They're all gonna say no, but no, no,
the Knicks were bent on Hey, we want to show
you that we're not comfortable being a destination. We're gonna

show you that we're gonna be really embarrassing too. So
we're gonna go, oh for seven with teams we contact
to talk to their head coaches. Oh, now they get
to Mike Brown. I could have had them at Mike
Brown Night, one night one, Mike Brown, he's your guy.
Fifty grand because I did three minutes worth of work
on this, because I tell you, because I know Mike
Brown's career. I know, look at what this is your guy, right.
I would have said, okay, I'll work an hour on

it to make it seem like okay, fifty grand for
an hour, but fifty grand, hey me three minutes. I
had Mike Brown for you already. This is why the
Knick should hire me. I could have had this guy
to you easily. And this looks like where the Knicks
are gonna go now. Now go back to June seventeenth
from DraftKings. He we became the betting favorite. Now. I
still don't think the calling other teams for their head

coaches in books necessarily as laughable. Now, it depends how
deep you got into that. I think the Bucks actually
reached out, might have reached out saying what about us, Hey, hey,
I know you're gonna get to it, and they're like, yeah, yeah,
we'll let you know. We'll call you back but just
the idea of if those are the best into your
mind of what's gonna fit with Brunson Cat and whatever
you're working going forward. Make the call. Well, it's like anything, right,

you're trying to date the girl you see, you know,
catch your eye at the end of the bar. What's
the worst? She could say, beat it, creep or no,
depending on how deep she wants to go on it,
and you move on. All right, next it's a numbers game. Somewhat.
Eventually he's gonna sit down and have a drink with
you and visited creepy all right, sorry, and listen to
your life story for five to ten minutes before they

get up and walk away. But all of that to say,
eventually you get down to brass tacks of all right,
here are the guys. We've done our due diligence. We've
talked to people because I don't believe you know, you're
not operating in a vacuum wishing, wanting, hoping that you're
making one call and that's the end of it. That
was the List's what's the plan? B No, you've got
an order of operations that you're going through, like solving

a math equation and eventually you started getting here. You
had Mike Brown, I had Taylor Jenkins, Tada. They were
the betting favorites right now. Mike Brown, as of that
June seventeenth date, Mike Brown was about a forty five
percent likelihood according to the implied odds. Okay, so that's strengthened,
but it's been there in plain view for a while.

Michael Malone Mike Malone fourth or fifth on the list.
But again, it makes doesn't make a whole lot of
sense since you just fired Thibodeaux, and if you're going
to pay him thirty million dollars to go away, why
would you hire another guy for another thirty million dollars
who's essentially the same guy. It's a spider man met
We're pointing at each other, y'all gonna do it? Are
you double down on that? Right? So yeah, Mike, Mike

Brown is the guy that has been the expectation based
on the betting market and inside information for a couple
of weeks. So bring him back in, make sure you
know you can finalize those those final points. But it
is curious because the only free agent we've been talking
about with them thus far is is Jordan Clarkson sixteen
a game score. He was in Utah. I don't know
(14:35):
anybody's happy playing in Utah, so whenever anybody goes yeah,
he'd really kind of run out of favor and wasn't
excited about it. Nobody's excited about Utah. Gailey story for
Bryan out loud. He had even shown up there, and
he's mad. So all of that to say, here we are,
Mike Brown. You're a guy. You're not getting your fifty
thousand no matter how much you press. I know, but

I could have done that, so and I would have
stopped the Knicks from being laughing stocks. I would have
done that. Your your hourly rate, though, would have been phenomenal.
Oh yeah, yeah, it would have been great. Yeah, how
about you make in fifte an hour? Yeah? Why would you? Well,
I mean I prorited at fifty fifty fifty thousand for
my ten minutes to work, and I really I really
only worked three minutes of that hour too. So it's

it coming up an million dollar guy. Two teams extremely
active today in NBA free agency will make the big
leap to being top three teams in their conferences next year.

Michael Porter Junior is a is a big other stars,
other teams have made big moves, right, But it's this
is a free agency where most people care about what

their team did, and there's no big story that cuts
across coast to coast. It tells, Okay, it's not KD.
Well what happened to KD? I mean, I mean really,
I mean, we're you you would think that. And and
and Sean's been on this for the last few days.
But oh hey, he told Scott van Pelt, don't go
to sleep, don't go all all the different Uh, you

can tease around it. And and it's been a day where, hey,
it's been good moves, it's been good when teams have
made big things. We're gonna give you two big Bowl
predictions for teams in a second, but overall it's like, Okay,
it's not quite the day that we expected it to be. Well.
He also knew that Van Pelt was going on vacation
for two months. So he's like, hey, you can't leave yet,
can't leave You might have to miss that flight, buddy.
Uh but no, it's Look, you're you're selling the NBA.

That's your stock in trade. That's why the Four Letter
paid you a lot of money to come over there
and be your guy. And and while you were a
great teammate to the world not tipping picks during the draft,
now's your time to shine, right did you? And free
agent to be Wemby, I mean, Mindy Wemby's the other
look at you now? So far to get no other

competition in the space. Look, the Nuggets traded Michael Porter
Junior to the Nets for Cam Johnson. Right Brook Lopez
signed a two year, eighteen million dollar deal with the Clippers.
The Rockets get Dorian Finney Smith as he leaves the
Lakers going, and Nago signed Jake Lamona. It was a
big move for them. Uh, look, good shooter. The Hawks
(18:33):
have made a couple of nice moves, right, and the
Knicks are gonna get Jordan Clarkson. But I'll tell you
a couple of teams that over the course the last
couple of days. In the first day of free agency.
Each of these teams will be a top three team
in their conference this year. Okay, they have made the moves.
They have made the under the radar moves, they have
made the solid moves. They will be top three teams.
(18:54):
First I'm gonna tell you about, and I've been talking
about them for a little bit. Is the Orlando Magic. Okay,
the Magic in an Eastern Conference which now two of
the top four teams are looking for what's next? Right,
The Celtics are completely dismantling their championship team from a
year ago. No Jason Tatum for most, if not all,
of the year, So okay, they're in a status quote
(19:19):
type situation. Same thing with the Pacers, right hey, coming
off the NBA Finals, one game away from winning it all,
but no Tyres Halliburton likely for all of the season,
so they're going to be kind of stuck a little bit.
The Magic have done the and gone by the Rockets Thunder.
(19:40):
I don't want to say strategy, but because it's it's
it's too much to say. But what they've been able
to do is get those high picks in the draft,
let them develop outside of the spotlight, and now suddenly Okay,
we're going to jump on the scene after making the
right couple of moves, and then Magic clearly have done.
So look, Ben Caro is terrific. You see the young
talent they have. They bring in Desmond Bain, who's going

to be a big guy for attitude. He's going to
hit some threes and eat some outside shooting. The Magic
going to be a top three team in the Eastern
Conference next year. The Knicks are going to be the
favorites going into the season because of hey, they made
it that far and they're not hurt like everybody else's
and or really believe it in the Cavaliers after the
regular season they had and going out as early as
they did in the playoffs. So yeah, I firmly expect

that that right now. If I'm saying the top three
teams in the East next year, probably Knicks, Cavaliers, and Magic,
those will be your top three teams record wise. The
Magic are coming, man. They've been able to do it
outside of the outside of their off the radar screen
and all of a sudden, hey wait a minute, man,
Oklahoma City's pretty good. Hey, wait a minute, Houston's pretty good. Oh,
hey wait a minute, Hey Orlando was really good and

with a young with the young talent they have there,
forget it, man, They're going to be a top three
team in the East now. They won the War of Attrition.
So you look at current betting odds for the NBA
Finals courtesy of fan Duel, the Knicks favorites in the
East at plus eight fifty second are the Cavaliers at
ten to one, third, your Orlando Magic at twelve to one,

and then there's a considerable gap to the upstart Atlanta
Hawks banking on Christaps Porzingis. That's where I would put
to take a little bit of a price shot for
them to replace one of those other three. I'm not
gonna kill off your Knicks. They'll eventually find a coach
to make it work. Could be me, could be me.
I'm merged my own I mean, they look until they
(21:26):
put someone up at a podium to say, hey, I've
signed a contract, and we see it. Look he signed
it in his own blood. Nine. I'll take the Hawks
off the pace at thirty one. I'll tell you they
they made a lot of moves today. They're building around
Trey Young's It's an interesting amalgam that they've got there. Yeah,

it's completely different from what I thought it was gonna be,
which was, Okay, they have to move on from Trey
Young because clearly they've seen the best of them and
they're just treading water. Now they've decided, oh, let's build
around Trey Young instead. Let's do that. That might work.
But I mean Nikila Alexander Walker was a guy that
was rumored with a number of teams. It was all

just a matter of whether price, the price of poker
was going to be too great for them to get
into the sweepstakes. Three point shooter, good defender, all of
those things. They added Luke Canard and you already had
the trade to bring in poor zingis so again with
the East because we don't know what Boston's even gonna
look like. How many of those guys are still there?
Bird McHale Parish Ceasting, Ceasting, that's nice. Yeah, I've been

I in a nineteen eighty six fleeer Jerry seven. Well,
I've been building the set bit by bit. When I can,
you know, shake out a couple of nickels to buy
that Ceasting rookie and flip it. No no, no, no, no,
it's it's this is completely a set building because I
loved that eighty six Fleer set Barkley and Malone and

Jordan and all that fun stuff. But they had a
ceased that someone has given them as part of a lot,
and it's like, on principle, I almost have to buy it. Now.
So the Western Conference, his name Jerry Seest. How about
that Western confer This is a little bit bigger. This
is a little bit bolder. But the Mavericks will finish

as a top three team in the West. Okay, now
we'll talk about a big phrase I like to say
tonight called strategic injuries. But they go out today and
get D'Angelo Russell, right, and that's a great move because
they need somebody to be the playmaker while Kyrie Irving
recovers and he's a different guy. Right, he's matured. We've
watched this the last couple of stops. Then he's a
solid fifteen and eight guy. Right, we've seen it. That's

exactly what they want. Two year deal from not spending
a lot of money because clearly he can then go
to a reserve role when Kyrie Irving comes back, and
then next year could be in a reserve role as well. Yeah,
two for thirteen is nothing. They're pretty deep, okay, and
we'll get to the injury part of a second, but
they're pretty deep. They're deep at center, you know, and
healthy ad Cooper Flag is gonna come in. They'll probably

cut his minutes a little bit so he's not playing
crazy amounts of time. But there's a reason this guy
has been the number one pick and what we've talked
about him as a generational talent for a while. They're
gonna be good enough in this Western Conference and it's
gonna be the middle finger Nico Harrison tour of Oh
you thought we were so wrong trading Luca. Look at us.
We're winning all these games. We're winning all these games.

The Mavericks are really talented, and they're deep, and they're
not spending a lot of money. They'd have to spend
money on Luca obviously with trading him, so now they're
gonna wind up having money at some point two to
really augment this team. But yes, they fell into it
with Cooper Flag, but making this move here was a
really solid move and it's not a lot of money.
The Mavericks are going to be really good and they'll
(24:43):
play with that chip on their shoulder. The fans will
be back. It'll be a different thing because now you know, look,

the actual drafting of Cooper Flag and seeing him in Dallas,

the point where the players have become too big. It's

still ninety four feet and you see players playing too
much basketball and they get hurt. And every playoff is
a war of attrition and it's who stays healthy till
the end. And guys are having debilitating injuries in the
middle of the playoffs because they've played too much. Whether
it's Jason Tatum or Tyre's Halliburton or Damian Lillard, whoever
it is. It's too much basketball. But it's not going

anywhere because Adam Silver is not gonna do anything that's
going to cost the league money. So it's not no law.
It's no longer about hey, if you can avoid injury,
it's okay, We're gonna have an injury, but let's have
it in a great play Hopefully we have it a
great place strategically where it's not gonna kill us. Where
if Anthony Davis is gonna miss some time, you're hoping
that injury hits some time in the middle of January

so we can come back sometime at the end of
February and play the rest of the way. Lebron is
gonna be hurt every year. Now you're hoping that it's
two weeks at a time from hey, he's missing two
weeks in January, missing two weeks beginning of March, and
then these guys can be healthy enough for the playoffs.
That's what it is. It's not about avoiding it, forget it.
Guys are just gonna get hurt. That's just the game. Now,
(26:32):
it's strategically missing. So for the Mavericks, for instance, Okay,
here's Kyrie Irving, who's gonna miss a lot of time
this year. But when he does come back with the
Mavericks having enough talent to stay afloat all of a sudden,
he comes back second half of the season in whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Maybe now he's only have to worry about playing twenty
some odd games and then the playoffs. He's gonna be

fresh at the end of the year. Because any team
that tries to build around a thirty five year old guy,
it's not gonna work. It's just gonna get to the
point the playoffs where we're tired, we don't have the
same legs, defense is a little bit more intense, and
we're not going to win. So, yes, it's the strategic
injuries that you have to navigate in the NBA, but
you navigate that. It's part of it for everybody. Yeah,

no reason why Maverick's top three team in the West.
I like that They currently eighth and betting odds thirty
four to one. So if you want to go get
your long shot play rolling in, they are currently behind. Okay,
see Denver, Houston, the Clippers, the Lakers, the Timberwolves, the
Warriors before we get to Dallas at eight. Now, I

like your strategic injury because remember when we were having
all the lamentation and handwringing when Halliburton got hurt and
they're like, oh, look at this rash of injuries and
here's what we need to do, and all the breakneck
response of we need to shorten the season, we need
to get rid of all these playoff games. This goes
back to Anthony Davis at what a wizard he was
years ago. Remember when everybody made fun of him when

he said he hadn't touched a basketball. That's now the rule. Yeah,
stop complaining, think about game six and seven. You know what,
Stop playing pick up basketball eight hours a day when
you're in your offseason. Sit on your ass and go
watch some bad TV, go watch Love Island and debate
it and whatever else, and and stop playing basketball there
because how many hours and miles are on the legs there.

that play extra second seasons because that's what it is.

get out there, they're gonna play the movie're gonna sing

along to it, and Dede Khnn comes out, who played Frenchy,
and she comes out she sounds exactly like she did
in the movie. Was I'm like, oh my god, Dede
Conn is out. She's talking to the audience, saying, let
me tell you a story. This is what happened when

She talks for a couple minutes, all right, we're just
see the movie, and then she goes, I have a
surprise for you guys, and then all of a sudden,
she brings out the people who played Putsy and Sonny

All these guys came out like oh and they all
tell stories about about Greece and everything. I'm like, oh,

I thought, wait, I thought Sandy was going back to

was great. Heau's only up there for a couple of minutes,
you know, everybody else. He gave them the spotlight, you know,
did like the again, the three of them and Deede
Conrup there for quite a while. I'm going, oh my goodness,

troump So I texted you, going, oh my god, Travolta
just walked out. And then like ten minutes later it's
this big news. I'm like, yeah, oh my goodness. I
wish I had known I could have. I would have
taken the video, put it right up on social media.
I had no idea. Flew up so fast because I
had no idea, so you know, to pull the curtain
back whenever you're out and from Osburg and he was

off as well on Friday, you know, and Arnie sits
in particularly he will badger me the entire night. Where's Jason?

is your leader, is your runaway leader to be the
knicks next head coach. Right, and then there's I mean
maybe to throw people off the set. This weekend, there
was hey, maybe we get Jason Smith or Dawn Staley,
Hey let's go. But the night the Knicks fired Tips,

I keep going back, It's like, why, James Dolan, why
didn't you just hire me to help you do this search? Right?
Everybody you see teams they hire all these different to
hire the thirty third team, and different institutions say hey,

he'd really kind of run out of favor and wasn't

Mike Brown. You're a guy. You're not getting your fifty

competition in the space. Look, the Nuggets traded Michael Porter
Junior to the Nets for Cam Johnson. Right Brook Lopez
signed a two year, eighteen million dollar deal with the Clippers.
The Rockets get Dorian Finney Smith as he leaves the
Lakers going, and Nago signed Jake Lamona. It was a
big move for them. Uh, look, good shooter. The Hawks
(18:33):
have made a couple of nice moves, right, and the
Knicks are gonna get Jordan Clarkson. But I'll tell you
a couple of teams that over the course the last
couple of days. In the first day of free agency.
Each of these teams will be a top three team
in their conference this year. Okay, they have made the moves.
They have made the under the radar moves, they have
made the solid moves. They will be top three teams.

First I'm gonna tell you about, and I've been talking
about them for a little bit. Is the Orlando Magic. Okay,
the Magic in an Eastern Conference which now two of
the top four teams are looking for what's next? Right,
The Celtics are completely dismantling their championship team from a
year ago. No Jason Tatum for most, if not all,
of the year, So okay, they're in a status quote
(19:19):
type situation. Same thing with the Pacers, right hey, coming
off the NBA Finals, one game away from winning it all,
but no Tyres Halliburton likely for all of the season,
so they're going to be kind of stuck a little bit.
The Magic have done the and gone by the Rockets Thunder.

I don't want to say strategy, but because it's it's
it's too much to say. But what they've been able
to do is get those high picks in the draft,
let them develop outside of the spotlight, and now suddenly Okay,
we're going to jump on the scene after making the
right couple of moves, and then Magic clearly have done.
So look, Ben Caro is terrific. You see the young
talent they have. They bring in Desmond Bain, who's going
(20:01):
to be a big guy for attitude. He's going to
hit some threes and eat some outside shooting. The Magic
going to be a top three team in the Eastern
Conference next year. The Knicks are going to be the
favorites going into the season because of hey, they made
it that far and they're not hurt like everybody else's
and or really believe it in the Cavaliers after the
regular season they had and going out as early as
they did in the playoffs. So yeah, I firmly expect

that that right now. If I'm saying the top three
teams in the East next year, probably Knicks, Cavaliers, and Magic,
those will be your top three teams record wise. The
Magic are coming, man. They've been able to do it
outside of the outside of their off the radar screen
and all of a sudden, hey wait a minute, man,
Oklahoma City's pretty good. Hey, wait a minute, Houston's pretty good. Oh,
hey wait a minute, Hey Orlando was really good and

with a young with the young talent they have there,
forget it, man, They're going to be a top three
team in the East now. They won the War of Attrition.
So you look at current betting odds for the NBA
Finals courtesy of fan Duel, the Knicks favorites in the
East at plus eight fifty second are the Cavaliers at
ten to one, third, your Orlando Magic at twelve to one,

and then there's a considerable gap to the upstart Atlanta
Hawks banking on Christaps Porzingis. That's where I would put
to take a little bit of a price shot for
them to replace one of those other three. I'm not
gonna kill off your Knicks. They'll eventually find a coach
to make it work. Could be me, could be me.
I'm merged my own I mean, they look until they
(21:26):
put someone up at a podium to say, hey, I've
signed a contract, and we see it. Look he signed
it in his own blood. Nine. I'll take the Hawks
off the pace at thirty one. I'll tell you they
they made a lot of moves today. They're building around
Trey Young's It's an interesting amalgam that they've got there. Yeah,

it's completely different from what I thought it was gonna be,
which was, Okay, they have to move on from Trey
Young because clearly they've seen the best of them and
they're just treading water. Now they've decided, oh, let's build
around Trey Young instead. Let's do that. That might work.
But I mean Nikila Alexander Walker was a guy that
was rumored with a number of teams. It was all

just a matter of whether price, the price of poker
was going to be too great for them to get
into the sweepstakes. Three point shooter, good defender, all of
those things. They added Luke Canard and you already had
the trade to bring in poor zingis so again with
the East because we don't know what Boston's even gonna
look like. How many of those guys are still there?
Bird McHale Parish Ceasting, Ceasting, that's nice. Yeah, I've been

I in a nineteen eighty six fleeer Jerry seven. Well,
I've been building the set bit by bit. When I can,
you know, shake out a couple of nickels to buy
that Ceasting rookie and flip it. No no, no, no, no,
it's it's this is completely a set building because I
loved that eighty six Fleer set Barkley and Malone and

Jordan and all that fun stuff. But they had a
ceased that someone has given them as part of a lot,
and it's like, on principle, I almost have to buy it. Now.
So the Western Conference, his name Jerry Seest. How about

as a top three team in the West. Okay, now
we'll talk about a big phrase I like to say
tonight called strategic injuries. But they go out today and
get D'Angelo Russell, right, and that's a great move because
they need somebody to be the playmaker while Kyrie Irving
recovers and he's a different guy. Right, he's matured. We've
watched this the last couple of stops. Then he's a
solid fifteen and eight guy. Right, we've seen it. That's

exactly what they want. Two year deal from not spending
a lot of money because clearly he can then go
to a reserve role when Kyrie Irving comes back, and
then next year could be in a reserve role as well. Yeah,
two for thirteen is nothing. They're pretty deep, okay, and
we'll get to the injury part of a second, but
they're pretty deep. They're deep at center, you know, and
healthy ad Cooper Flag is gonna come in. They'll probably
(24:02):
cut his minutes a little bit so he's not playing
crazy amounts of time. But there's a reason this guy
has been the number one pick and what we've talked
about him as a generational talent for a while. They're
gonna be good enough in this Western Conference and it's
gonna be the middle finger Nico Harrison tour of Oh
you thought we were so wrong trading Luca. Look at us.
We're winning all these games. We're winning all these games.
(24:23):
The Mavericks are really talented, and they're deep, and they're
not spending a lot of money. They'd have to spend
money on Luca obviously with trading him, so now they're
gonna wind up having money at some point two to
really augment this team. But yes, they fell into it
with Cooper Flag, but making this move here was a
really solid move and it's not a lot of money.
The Mavericks are going to be really good and they'll
(24:43):
play with that chip on their shoulder. The fans will
be back. It'll be a different thing because now you know, look,
talking to Mark Stein, NBA insider who lives in Dallas, said, look,
the actual drafting of Cooper Flag and seeing him in Dallas,
that's gonna do go a long way to repairing the
damage that was done after the Luka Doncic's trade. Right,
here's our new superstar coming in. Here's who we are,
(25:04):
and this is what's going to work. But the big thing,
and you know, the first thing I know you're gonna say,
is Anthony Davis staying healthy. This is now the thing
now in the NBA. Okay, it's not about avoiding injuries.
It's having strategic injuries because people are gonna get hurt. Right,
this is just the way it is. The NBA is
the point where the players have become too big. It's
(25:26):
still ninety four feet and you see players playing too
much basketball and they get hurt. And every playoff is
a war of attrition and it's who stays healthy till
the end. And guys are having debilitating injuries in the
middle of the playoffs because they've played too much. Whether
it's Jason Tatum or Tyre's Halliburton or Damian Lillard, whoever
it is. It's too much basketball. But it's not going
(25:48):
anywhere because Adam Silver is not gonna do anything that's
going to cost the league money. So it's not no law.
It's no longer about hey, if you can avoid injury,
it's okay, We're gonna have an injury, but let's have
it in a great play Hopefully we have it a
great place strategically where it's not gonna kill us. Where
if Anthony Davis is gonna miss some time, you're hoping
that injury hits some time in the middle of January
(26:11):
so we can come back sometime at the end of
February and play the rest of the way. Lebron is
gonna be hurt every year. Now you're hoping that it's
two weeks at a time from hey, he's missing two
weeks in January, missing two weeks beginning of March, and
then these guys can be healthy enough for the playoffs.
That's what it is. It's not about avoiding it, forget it.
Guys are just gonna get hurt. That's just the game. Now,
(26:32):
it's strategically missing. So for the Mavericks, for instance, Okay,
here's Kyrie Irving, who's gonna miss a lot of time
this year. But when he does come back with the
Mavericks having enough talent to stay afloat all of a sudden,
he comes back second half of the season in whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
Maybe now he's only have to worry about playing twenty
some odd games and then the playoffs. He's gonna be
(26:53):
fresh at the end of the year. Because any team
that tries to build around a thirty five year old guy,
it's not gonna work. It's just gonna get to the
point the playoffs where we're tired, we don't have the
same legs, defense is a little bit more intense, and
we're not going to win. So, yes, it's the strategic
injuries that you have to navigate in the NBA, but
you navigate that. It's part of it for everybody. Yeah,

no reason why Maverick's top three team in the West.
I like that They currently eighth and betting odds thirty
four to one. So if you want to go get
your long shot play rolling in, they are currently behind. Okay,
see Denver, Houston, the Clippers, the Lakers, the Timberwolves, the
Warriors before we get to Dallas at eight. Now, I

like your strategic injury because remember when we were having
all the lamentation and handwringing when Halliburton got hurt and
they're like, oh, look at this rash of injuries and
here's what we need to do, and all the breakneck
response of we need to shorten the season, we need
to get rid of all these playoff games. This goes
back to Anthony Davis at what a wizard he was
years ago. Remember when everybody made fun of him when

he said he hadn't touched a basketball. That's now the rule. Yeah,
stop complaining, think about game six and seven. You know what,
Stop playing pick up basketball eight hours a day when
you're in your offseason. Sit on your ass and go
watch some bad TV, go watch Love Island and debate
it and whatever else, and and stop playing basketball there
because how many hours and miles are on the legs there.

And nobody wants to admit, you know, I just talk
about oh you know, that's that is what they do, Okay,
but that adds up. It's like all these other guys
that play extra second seasons because that's what it is.
After a decade of that, it's a lot of many
weary miles on those legs. Durant Lebron, et cetera, et cetera.
He's a cyborg. But that's a whole other thing. But

for for your mavericks, I like the cut of your jim,
I like your theoretical there I'd say Houston, but they
were already the number two seeds, so they don't. They
just need to run back and now you know where
