there we go.

Speaker 4 (01:06):
Was that as scripted as the end of the thunder
Game eight seven seven ninety.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Nine, But by end you mean like middle of the
second quarter, because that's really when it was over.

Speaker 4 (01:16):
Wait, you take these next couple of possessions. I got something,
I'm working on, something I'm workshopping.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Do I use the alliteration? Do I not? Do I
use a literary reference? Do I not? How about a
movie quote? I don't know what will I do?

Speaker 1 (01:31):
The Thunder and SGA are into the NBA finals.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
We got a big NFL story coming up in a
few minutes.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
But well, choose your own adventure in microm we got
two big stories coming up here for the Thunder the
next year. Uh huh, what do you want to do first?
Gambling or hot take? What do you want first? Gambling?

Speaker 2 (01:47):
Or well?

Speaker 4 (01:48):
The gambling one I think is pretty fast. I'm gonna guess.
All right, all right, I'm gonna guess. You got a
couple of data points. You're gonna talk about the money
you made gambling.

Speaker 3 (01:55):
Gam We're talking about gambling. Okay, we'll do gambling first.
What do we do gambling first?

Speaker 1 (01:59):
Prior to these series with the Thunder, with the t Wolves,
I said, this is how good they are. This is
how much better they are than everybody else. If you
put the over under for the number of games, the
Thunder will lose the remainder of the playoff. This is
Western Conference Finals, NBA Finals. If I put that number

(02:19):
at two and a half, I'm taking the under, and
here I am tonight because right now I'm at one. Yeah,
you're feeling pretty good. Now I need the Thunder to
go to two. You need to lose two games in
the NBA Finals. I feel pretty even though it's clok,
maybe they lose one. I feel pretty good about that
right now because again they have shown how much better
they are than everybody else. It's a perfectly constructed team.

(02:42):
You have the MVP, you have two up and coming
superstars on rookie deals. You have an All NBA defensive player.
You have three role players who bring incredibly important elements
to the team that they wouldn't win without, whether it's
Caruso and Hartenstein, this is a perfectly constructed team. Again,
when I said two and a half, I'm like, I'm
gonna I'm gonna skate to this. I didn't think Minnesota's

(03:03):
gonna get a game, but they got one because the
Thunder said, Okay, I gotta take our breath here. Okay,
so maybe that happens in the NBA Finals. Gonna take
our breath for one game, and we're gonna beat you
the other four. I still feel really good about the
under two and a half because that means the Pacers
most likely or the Knicks would have to beat.

Speaker 3 (03:18):
Them twice in the NBA Finals.

Speaker 4 (03:20):
Yeah, I'm actually kind of fired up for that series
because I think the depth matches the Knicks and the Thunder. Yeah,
fired up, dude. You had me choosing my own adventure,
not you. Sorry, sorry, not you that adventure on your
other Earth or your Mickey seventeen, you know, alternate, you know,
clone life, whatever it is. I keep showing up and

(03:41):
the Knicks keep losing. I keep dying and coming back
to the Knicks keep losing. I've died for generations and
I still got nothing. Shallow May is still the biggest
Nick fan. Yeah, I'm on the wrong Earth. Then I'd
give me another.

Speaker 3 (03:52):
I love this.

Speaker 4 (03:52):
So I go to Costco today, right, and I'm gonna
go fill up the cart and you know, fill up
the box freeze or whatever. And I walk in and
as guys are wont to do there, Hey you got
how's your mobile.

Speaker 3 (04:02):
Plan work or whatever?

Speaker 4 (04:03):
A couple of young guys and dude decides to start
trolling me because I'm wearing my bears pullover.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Okay, and he.

Speaker 4 (04:10):
Starts going in and we start john you know, jocular,
you know, back and forth pocularity.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
Sure, yeah, it's a fun.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
And then I go your teams, he goes Raiders and Clippers.
I go, and you're trying to troll me. Ow dude,
that's that's a look in the mirror moment. If someone
who in the Raiders and the Clippers are trolling, you
got to look in the mirror and say, what are
some of the life choices I've made?

Speaker 3 (04:32):
You gotta look at that. That's tough.

Speaker 4 (04:34):
Basically, like you're young, at you had your choice, you
had multiple l A teams, Raiders aren't even here and
and that's your choice. Yeah, you're trolling me because of
my allegiance to my hometown. Yeah, sure, you get out
of here. And his partner's laughing at it goes. You're
not getting him to sign up, He's not. No, he's
gonna keep going. But in the choose your own adventure,

(04:57):
like I think the Pacers are any interesting matchup, particularly
if we're going to get the consistency out of Halliburton
and that effort.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
Now the Dad's back too.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Daddy, all of that fun that we had with that yesterday.
You got to listen to the whole show. Go find
the podcast wherever you get your audio download and give
it five stars, send it to friends and family. Evangelized
because we are global and continuing to expand. But all
of that to say, I think you're right. I think
it does end with the under but we're not gonna

(05:27):
I don't think we're gonna see thirty point blots. I
think the Pacers don't give them a series. Knicks get there.
Your team can't defend. Oh, well, somehow they were able to.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
They do this. I don't know the nick.

Speaker 1 (05:41):
If the Knicks got one game against the Thunder, I
would be surprised they got one.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
They have against.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
If some album get by the Pacers, if somehow I
don't know that they would get one game, I would
feel I'd feel happy out we got one win.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
We won a game in the NBA finals.

Speaker 1 (05:58):
Okay, well, just getting back to the final, yeah, because
you well, at this point being down three to one.

Speaker 5 (06:02):
Yeh.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
But but even before the series, it was get back
to the finals.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Yeah, the first time in a quarter century.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
Well, fALS, you had that and then before it was
the ewing Elijah w On battle. That was the OJ
chase more than anything else. Yeah, and the dancing ETOs.
It has a long time. It's a long time, einteen
ninety four. It's a long time, man, it's a long time.
So all right, so there's your going out, right, I
feel really great. I feel be over under with that.

(06:32):
Now I've said been pretty chesty, we've joked around to
but just think about this for a second. Right, the
Thunder are a great feel good story showing you that
in a not too long amount of time you can
build an NBA power in a smaller market, right with
s G. A.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Sein Hartenstein. Right, you get lucky in the lotter. You
got a lot of picks, right, you got chet. You
you need, you need, you need some luck to go
your way and pick the right players. But it shows
you that it's not impossible. Because well, absolutely nobody was looking.
The Thunder became this good very fast, the right signings
and Alex Caruso bringing him in, Right, they made the
right calls. This has been a phenomenal run by the

(07:11):
Thunder again in which nobody was looking. Does Paul George
get a ring for any of this though, because it's
going to be the Pacers and the Thunder and their
teams were built on his back.

Speaker 4 (07:20):
Okay, yeah, well did they were? They built on his back?
Did they underachieve on his back? Well, they underachieved, but
then they got rid of him to get the parts
that they needed to ascend to greatness.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
He gets a blue ring. Pot, he gets a ring, pop,
a blue ring. But here you go, right there?

Speaker 1 (07:40):
So, but so they've done this and they've built themselves
into a power. But seriously, think about this, it's their
first NBA Finals since twenty twelve. Any other tap, Let's
let's replace the Thunder with the Lakers.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
Right, Let's place Thunder with the Lakers.

Speaker 1 (07:58):
Going back, Let's say the Bakers had a player in
twenty fourteen win NBA MVP, okay, and then three years
later had a different player win MVP, then seven years
later had another player win MVP, and in that run,
not once did they make the NBA finals. If this

(08:20):
was Kobe winning it in twenty twelve, and then Dwight
Howard winning it in twenty seventeen, and now Luca winning
it this year, or whatever however you wanted to break
it down we would say the Lakers are the biggest
underachievers in the world. How do you've had three different
guys win MVP in the last ten years? And I
don't know why, but in my head, I'm hearing Rob
Parker go, you want three guys.

Speaker 3 (08:42):
You couldn't make it to the finals once. I don't
know why. He's in my Headsia, So that's what I hear.
You had three guys, three different players. You couldn't do it.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
You couldn't figure anything else out. It would That's what
everybody would say. That's if the Knicks happened. They would
say the same thing.

Speaker 4 (08:55):
If it was a Doc Rivers coach team and anybody,
people would say that.

Speaker 1 (08:59):
But this is what happened with the Thunder. You had
an MVP and KD in twenty fourteen to MVP three
years later, Russell Westbrook, we're having triple double. Now get
MP this year and Shay Gildes Alexander, that's the first
time you have made it to the finals in that run.
And oh, by the way, don't forget you had James
Harden before. You said, I don't know if we can
hold on to him. We got to trade away. We
can't afford him. Oh, you traded away another first ballot

(09:20):
Hall of Famer who actually left your team and got
even better and became a more well rounded player and
became a better point guard, better passer when he went
to the Rockets.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
You had all of this and you hadn't made the finals.

Speaker 1 (09:32):
I think it's I know it's a hot take, but
it's legitimate to say, have you been underachieving for the
past decade, considering you've had three different players win MVP
and not go to the finals.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
I kind of dig that, right.

Speaker 4 (09:46):
You go through their history from Brooks to Donovan and
the current regime, and you look at all the playoff appearances.
You had that finals run in eleven twelve, Right, So
we go all the way back to there Western Conference finals,
a couple of times one, two, three, three times there

(10:06):
one wins and lost in the semies, a bunch of
first round exits. So that didn't end well the Billy
Donovan era. Yeah, I think it's brand Like with the Lakers,
you say you underachieved with here, it's like, oh, you
had those bright stars, but you didn't have everything put
together just yet.

Speaker 1 (10:26):
Well it had because the general consensus is going to
be oh you couldn't put you still put an MVP
on the floor. You put an m v A on
the floor, and you couldn't and you didn't make the final.
No man is an island, you know, but you didn't
make the finals once that I mean that that's a
legitimate thing to say. I mean because you want to say, oh,
little engine that could and all right, I get that

(10:46):
because it's a.

Speaker 3 (10:47):
Smaller market, so sure, all right, I understand that.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
But the thing is, you weren't three different guys, right
kd Russell Westbrook Now shake Gildas Alexander, who's been really
good in the last couple of years.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
This is your first finals with the guys.

Speaker 4 (10:59):
It's funny all those years, you know, they only hit
sixty wins once, right at sixty.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
How crazy is that?

Speaker 4 (11:07):
And then came back to next year with fifty nine.
That was twenty twelve, thirteen, twenty thirteen, fourteen. But until
this blowout effort of sixty eight and fourteen and again
when the final vote was announced seventy one twenty nine,
I was still a little surprised at that.

Speaker 1 (11:24):
Well, I mean, look, I'm glad, I'm glad people did
that because this shows Hey, we cared about what he did.
They won, you know, seventy eight games. They were seventy
eight and four this year. They clearly all right, we've
had three years of Nikola Jokic and his excellence, right,
and he had maybe his best year this year. But
can you really say he's the MVP again when they're
a nice fifty to fifty five win team.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
You can't and give it to Shock every year when
he clearly was the MVP. Look what they Look what
they did.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
He held that thing together because they fired Malone and
sent him to ESPN. They took Calvin Booth and said
you can't stay either. They called the Yogi and his
horses are in charge now.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
But I finally looked up and said, oh well, all right,
we can't really reward him with the MVP went when
the Thunder had was this good this year.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
It's also absolutely.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
Because that's what the MV is not the best, it's
not the player of the year, it's not the guy
with the grand It's who's the MVP who raised his
team and brought them to a higher level. And there's
no discussion that what SGA was able to do with
the Thunder.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
You you can't they nugget. You can't compare the Nuggets
to that case. You can't. They're a twenty win team.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
If K isn't doing what he's get out with the
awful with SGA, the same thing.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
But but SGA, that.

Speaker 4 (12:34):
Team would at least still be relevant. They were deep
enough to where they would have still you still have
some really good players on that But he was ready
to play. Yeah, he's more ready in the playoffs and season.
Porter was heart But I can't.

Speaker 3 (12:47):
But I can't. I can't.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
I can't minimize or say what could have happened? I
got to go on on what did happen.

Speaker 4 (12:53):
What I do enjoy, though, is with the these MVP Awards,
regardless of sport, it's got of whatever float your vote
in terms of how you vote right, there's no directive
of hey, you need to be they need to lead
this many categories, they need to have this many wins,
any any of that stuff. It's all just a how
do you feel? You know, what's the narrative? What's the

(13:15):
story that you want to write or tell on your
television show, podcast or in newsprint. So that that, I
think is one of the interesting and fascinating parts and
obviously we're talking about Gildess.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Alexander is one of those guys because we.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
Have the chatter that is always there and omni president
of the face of the league stuff to where it's like,
all right, throw his hat, his headband into the ring
for it. And in doing so, what do you do
you need? You need some accolades. Well, first step done,
m v P. Now you got four more wins to go,

(13:50):
you know, get plant your your flag on this job.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
That underachieving thunder franchise, you know, the title that they
need like they're the braves of the nineties.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
Well win in one time, man, because if it fails,
what happens is a mister unreliable headline waiting to happen
there at OKC.

Speaker 1 (14:07):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swalling Dome. Jason Smith
Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios, got
more NBA on the way, but straight ahead got a
big story out of the NFL. How bad does one
quarterback wish he was back in college right now?

Speaker 3 (14:22):
I wish I could do it all over.

Speaker 4 (14:23):
You wat Sedor Sanders alone, And the answer it's not
Shador Sanders and it's not Aaron Rodgers, Ben Roethlisberger.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
It's not Ben Roethlisberger.

Speaker 1 (14:33):
Wow, I won't sell you it is, but he played
at USC That's next, Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
Didn't want to shoot.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
I was passive, didn't take any responsibility. I'm Anthony Edwards.
I'm gonna tell you it's not my fault and it's
not Julius is either.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Alex. You want to tell him we got killed by
the thunder? Your Mike wasn't on.

Speaker 1 (15:11):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (15:14):
Yeah, we're gonna.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Have to play this song a lot during the NBA Finals. No,
the NBA Finals doesn't start for other three months, so
we're okay.

Speaker 3 (15:22):
What's your beef with the Dragons, Mike?

Speaker 6 (15:24):
Hmm?

Speaker 3 (15:26):
I like good stuff.

Speaker 4 (15:28):
Yeah, So just really you want to hear a real,
a funny story from this weekend.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
So I told you went to the Angels in the
Marlins game, right, Yeah?

Speaker 4 (15:35):
And both you and I now share that we've seen
the twenty twenty five Marlins.

Speaker 1 (15:40):
And you know, look, dozens of people were there, so
it was a pretty well attended game.

Speaker 3 (15:43):
That's good.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
And so you know the song that and and my
friend who came with us had he's I haven't been
to an Angel game in probably like ten twelve years,
a big Dodger fan whatever, Like yeah, but I mean
we got great seats and they bring you food at
your seat.

Speaker 3 (15:55):
So he went to the Angels.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
And so at the end of the game, they always
play calling all You Ain't Angels, right with the big
song from the nineties, right, they play that, So they
play So the Angels lose.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
And they play that collin all You Angel. And so
we're walking out, my friend turned and say this is
their song? Did they play?

Speaker 4 (16:13):
I go, well, yeah, I don't know what else to say.

Speaker 3 (16:19):
You got it.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
I know there's a lot of great songs you can say, Yeah,
give me that Angel's song, Like, I like, what do
you want to hear Harrowsmith Angel? I mean that'd be
pretty good. It's a ballad. I'm a no, I mean,
I don't know, there's.

Speaker 4 (16:31):
Not I mean, this gets trained some extra run. Super
Bowl Train's very underrated. They were so generically popular, like
they were. They were like Nickelback.

Speaker 1 (16:42):
They were really generic, but their songs were just hooky
enough to like wow that. I think they were like
the first group I ever remember putting out a CD
with a money back guarantee that said, if you don't
like it, you can return this for your money back.
I remember something like, it's one of those money back
guarantees that you're gonna like the song. It's like, okay,
I'll buy the album. I'll buy the CD is back
what I used to buy. I'll go buy a CD

(17:03):
because I got money buy. I heard one song, I like,
I'll buy the whole CD. Right, that's the money I
wish I had back in my life. Oh, I like
this one song. I'm gonna buy the album.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Uh, and I bought. I'm like, okay, I'll can just
take it back if I don't like it. I'm like,
I kind of like it. I listened to It's okay,
all right.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
Then we got I think it was it drops a
ju It might have been drops a Jupiter drops super
over there. Next I forget, but I'm like, oh, that's
pretty good. Now I'm not doing that with Imagic Dragons,
but still it tell me. But let's talk about the
NFL team that's got a lot of problems. We told
you these problems were gonna go on throughout the entire

(17:39):
off season and summer, and yes, it's going to happen.
It was about two weeks ago we got the story
from ESPN Seth Wickersham, who was writing a book about quarterbacks,
and uh, it sounds incredibly interesting. He's talking to and
following quarterbacks at every level, from high school all the
way until he talks to quarterbacks who no longer play. Right, So,

(18:01):
high school stars, college stars, current NFL quarterbacks, and legends
who have not played in a long time talk about
their lives and everything sounds really really interesting. But the
juiciest stuff comes out about Caleb Williams, who, according to
Seth Wickersham's book, with conversations with both Caleb Williams and
his dad, and again, the next time there's a conversation

(18:22):
about an athlete in which their significant other or family
member is mentioned, that's a good one. It will be
the first one where Caleb Williams and his dad really
didn't want to go to the Bears. They said that's
where quarterbacks go to die. They looked try to find
a way to manipulate the draft, or maybe go play
in a different league for a year and become a

(18:42):
free agent next year so they can sign where they
wanted to. They did not want to go to Chicago.
And these were quotes that were directly attributed to Caleb
Williams and his dad, not Seth Wickersham talked to a
guy who was a source who was familiar with the
thinking of someone who says they overheard this when Ferris
Bueller passed out of thirty one flavors. No, this is
Caleb Williams and his dad in Seth Wickersham.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
But it doubled down and gave more application to stuff
we'd heard before the draft a year ago. Right like that,
it'd been percolating going back to Super Bowl Week in
twenty twenty four. It's like, okay, this is but like
I've always just been one of like waiting for families
and for players to challenge Yeah, the draft, like because

(19:23):
we've had it multiple times, right talking about Eli Manning,
we talk about John Elway, and for many folks those
stories don't exist. It's like, hey, that guy was with
the Broncos, that that guy was with the Giants. No,
how they came in the league were really controversial things.
And then you had the Clarette and Mike Williams and
all that where they got squashed and bad advice and

(19:46):
bad rulings to where it really sent everything back because
guys are like, I don't want to lose my eligibility
if the upper courts disagree. But yeah, so here we
are all these months later, and now it's that much louder.
It would be like if Chris Farley had John Way
And that's an old sent.

Speaker 3 (20:01):
You remember when he got drafted by the Colts. That
was cool and you threatened to go be a Yankee.

Speaker 1 (20:07):
So with all of this going on, we told you
last week this is now going to be a thing.
And Caleb Williams has put a ticking clock on the
amount of time he has left to succeed or he's
going to get run out of town. Today, at a
press conference he addressed that story for the first time
in which he talked about what was attributed to him

(20:29):
and his dad in Seth Wickersham's book. And here's what
Caleb Williams had to say today.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
Does your dad speak for you?

Speaker 2 (20:35):
No?

Speaker 6 (20:36):
No, I actually shut my dad down quite a bit
he has ideas. He's smart man, and so I listen
and I always listen. And I'm very fortunate to be
in this position in the sense of you know, playing QB,
but also very fortunate to have a very strong minded father.
But no, no, no, definitely a girl man. And you
know I shut him down quite a lot, just because

(20:59):
you know, in season, out of season something that you
have to do. You know, he cares so much about
about me and you know my future and we've been
along this this journey so long together that you know
all he wants is the best for me.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
You want to put in me one on.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
One, Yeah, Can I just say one thing, okay to
all athletes, shut down your significant other or family member
that wants to get involved and piggyback off your fame.

Speaker 3 (21:21):
Shut them all down.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
There is not one time where that headline has worked
out well for said athlete. Doesn't matter significant other, family member.
It does not look there is not a good optic.
It doesn't look good, it doesn't play good. It's not good.
So just please don't do it. I realize no one's
gonna listen, but I feel like I need to say
it because if I get help one if I get up,
one athlete tell their dad or their mom or whoever

(21:45):
it is, to.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
Say, hey, let me handle it. Okay, I got it.
It's all good. Okay, then maybe I've done my life.

Speaker 3 (21:50):
I've got one family that would like a word. Okay,
who's that The surname is Kelsey.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
Uh, significant other affair.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
But they're both athletes. Both Kelsey's are athlete.

Speaker 4 (22:04):
Yeah, but how did they get and get really put over?
They're both that pop star came into their life. They
were great players. Yeah, yeah, probably both Hall of.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Famers, right, we could say that.

Speaker 1 (22:14):
But you know, but but Taylor Swift never talks about
Travis Kelcey in his football career.

Speaker 3 (22:19):
And Travis Taylor Smith. What are they doing. They're showing up,
but they're not saying anything.

Speaker 1 (22:24):
We see Patrick, we see you know, Patrick Mahomes's family,
We see everybody else's family's at the.

Speaker 4 (22:28):
Game inside a undred million dollars podcast because of her presence.

Speaker 1 (22:32):
But but there's way tell me outside of just them
dating that something had happened or been said where it
was oh you just completed. No, none of them have
ever said or done anything other than I just don't
like the fact that Taylor Smith's I might television.

Speaker 4 (22:47):
What they're saying that Taylor Swift and Patrick Mahomes's wife
weren't getting along and it was problems.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
Okay, this is all stuff that's pot that's going on
outside of the cameras. This is when you want to
stand up and I want to be a part of this.
That's what hurts, right, that's what hurts. And I'll tell
you this, right, I just wanted you to have to
think about key and I'll tell you that this is
It's nice that Caleb Williams said this right, shutting my
dad down. Now, clearly it's dad. I wonder if that

(23:14):
was a conversation. Dad, I gotta throw you under the bus, right,
this is this is Paully and Goodfellows saying here's the money, Henry. Now,
I gotta walk away from you, thirty five hundred dollars
for a lifetime. I gotta walk away, I will say, Dad,
I gotta do this.

Speaker 4 (23:26):
I like the statement, and I get that they're just
showing up for OTAs and whatever else. Ye had two
weeks like this festered a long time, which did not
sit well in Chicago. Now I can tell you my
brothers are back there. I was just told them a
couple of weeks ago. It's something that is really bothersome.
Yeah to the fan brothers want to put back all
the stuff they stole a couple.

Speaker 3 (23:47):
Of years ago. It's from training camp. Oh it's gone already. Okay,
that's all gone. Look, you know you don't take that
unless you got a goat.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
Any that stuff back. Man, give you the fars. But
this is the thing, Like, it's great that he said
this does not matter. Does not matter because either he
performs great out of the gate this year or this
is his last year with the Bears and the Bears
have to move on because this is something that doesn't
go away. That the fan base is going to sit

(24:15):
back and just wait for him to fail so they
can say the guy never wanted to be here. You
can't unring this bell. The guy never wanted to be here, right.
And you know, if you're Caleb Williams, your best chance
to succeed as an NFL quarterback is by the team
that drafted you because they believe in you. But if
it's bad this year, think about how awful the perception
is going to be, how bad it's going to be

(24:35):
in the media. The fan base is going to turn
on him, and it's going to be an ugly scene
in Chicago because the one thing you can't say, no
matter what city you're in or what doesn't but it
doesn't matter if it's a big city of small city,
is to say, hey, I didn't want to be there.
I didn't want to be Oh, you don't want to
be here. I live here, I live here, we're here.
You don't want to be here, you don't want to
be That's the one thing that you can't say because

(24:57):
fans are never.

Speaker 3 (24:57):
Going to forgive you. He could throw.

Speaker 4 (24:59):
He could go this year year sixteen games, for sixteen
games of the season, throw forty five touchdowns, ten interceptions.
The Bears could be do twelve and four, need to
win to win the division, and he has a bad
game Week seventeen, and the reaction Chicago's gonna be this
guy never wanted to be here from the beginning. Why
do we even go Troders all year with this guy?

(25:20):
We could have given him the needle, right.

Speaker 1 (25:22):
I went from I went from Jimmy Smich to Zack
to Ricky Schroeder. Okay, we could have given him the needle, right,
That's what's gonna happen. They're never going to forgive him.
It's gonna be incredibly difficult road for him to walk
the entire time he's in Chicago, and now the time
he's got to really come through is this season, because

(25:43):
coming out of this year, like, what's gonna if you
go two years with a quarterback that doesn't really come through?

Speaker 3 (25:48):
You gotta change over? Man, how many Ben Jonson is
the guy?

Speaker 1 (25:51):
He's gonna Hey, can we really keep Caleb Williams around
for year three?

Speaker 3 (25:55):
Or things so bad?

Speaker 1 (25:56):
Because the guy never wanted to be Because remember, the
book is gonna come out, that's gonna start up all
over again, and this conversation is never going to go with.
This is gonna hang over Caleb Williams the entire time
he's in Chicago unless he is great. He has now
put himself on the position of I'm either great and
I keep everybody at Bay or I'm not great and
I'm looking for a.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
New team in a year.

Speaker 4 (26:17):
See, this is where the media side and the timelines
and all of that and nuance the fact that that's
all been torn asunder and we're in a blip of
attention span theater world.

Speaker 3 (26:34):
You know, the species has amused itself to death.

Speaker 4 (26:37):
Is it sucks because you know Williams can protest till
he's blue in the face of Hey, it was the
timeline thing, right, It's a yes, here's where we're gonna go.
And Dad says whatever he's saying to Seth Wickersham. However,
they get hooked up initially and begin their talks going
back to his time at USC and whatever is nothing

(26:59):
he's saying ahead of the draft is untrue. Right, it
has been where quarterbacks go to die. It's something that
bears fans lament at bars every Sunday before kickoff, during
the game for three hours and after the final whistle
twelve heart attacks, well exactly.

Speaker 3 (27:19):
And then you choke on an extra chicken wing. All
of that stuff.

Speaker 4 (27:23):
But it's the idea that if you go into the
nuance of it, you recognize it. They're not saying anything incorrect,
and Caleb Williams has multiple times come up and in
this circumstance saying it again. It's like once I visited
and got around the facilities, got around the team, and
started thinking about what my place in this organization could be. Right,

(27:46):
there's no four thousand yard passers. It's the trivia question
that he wants to be the answer to all of
those things that you know. It's hey, challenge, acceptance, let's
go great city, welcoming city.

Speaker 3 (27:57):
And he's done everything he can for the last year.
Because that's the other part that I need to keep
banging the drama.

Speaker 4 (28:03):
This guy shows up everywhere shaking hands, kissing, long before
the Seth Wickerson book and all these excerpts started to
come out. Maybe he's trying to get in front of it.
And you can take the cynical approach. I look at
a guy who looks to me that he is truly
invested in being that guy for the city and for
the last year showing up at schools, science competitions, reading programs.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
You name it.

Speaker 4 (28:26):
He's been there sporting events, attending games of all different
sports and levels of the competition in the city that
he's embraced that and he wants to be that guy.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt now.
I'm also I like to think.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
A little more of the I like the nuance and
the thinking part of it. And it's not just hey,
let's fire up some torches and run this guy out
of here if it doesn't work, because if it doesn't,
part of it is going to be well. I thought
Ben Johnson was supposed to be a wizard, that he
was going to fix this right, because you can't. You
can't tell me looking at that roster from coming into

(29:04):
this year that it's not light years ahead of anything
that they've everget. No, but it doesn't matter because Ben
Johnson was. But now this is what's gained the attention
for it. Now it's oh, Caleb Williams never wanted to
be here.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
That Trump's whatever Ben Johnson is going to be able
to do or not do this season.

Speaker 4 (29:20):
But my point is is it's a terrible narrative because
his dad said something to some reporter. He said stuff too,
and the guy's writing a book. It's on you, it's
on Caleb Williams, And is that you're the nobody's right,
But there's the timeline, but right that you didn't want
to go, you're additionally apprehensive. But then what you opened
the door and you showed up and got through. Isn't

(29:42):
that a great story? Isn't that the way life generally works?

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Is that how it works in Chicago working, Well.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
We'll find out given the uh graveyard of quarterbacks from
the past, he doesn't have to be great to be celebrated.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
Go back and look at the years of Jake Butler.
I don't think when they turned on him, it's not
going to be the Chicago way. I'm gonna start smoking
cigarettes smoking. Caleb Williams getting ready.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
I never can't tell done not to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports. But guy who
brought his guitar to work tonight, it's Martin Weiss.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
You know I'm trying to do that. I want to
bring joy to the world.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
I want you to get to the point you've been
talking about how you you've done guitar lessons now in
the past few months, where you can play a song
on the guitar and do the update at the same time.

Speaker 7 (30:30):
You know, with a game like tonight's Game five in
the Western Conference Finals, even the guitar player and my
level of skill might be able to do it because
it was non competitive. The biggest battle tonight in the
Conference finals was me versus the guitar.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
You could smash it over somebody's head. This is true.

Speaker 5 (30:48):
The Oklahoma City Thunder.

Speaker 7 (30:51):
Smashed the guitar over the Minnesota Timberwolves head one, twenty
four to ninety four in Game five of the Western
Conference file Finals. MVP shout Gildis Alexander rocked out with
thirty four points.

Speaker 5 (31:04):
Chet holmgrun twenty two and Jay Dubb had nineteen.

Speaker 7 (31:07):
Anthony Edwards after the Game four debacle, had nineteen points
on eighteen shots. The Eastern Conference Finals will be Eastern
Conference will be represented by the Florida Panthers after they
beat the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals three
games to one, five to three. The score of Game five.
Carolina jumped out to a two to zer lead at
the end of the first period. Florida had roared back

(31:27):
to a three to two lead by the end of
the second period.

Speaker 5 (31:30):
Didn't look back. Pete Carl Armstrong hit.

Speaker 7 (31:32):
His fiftieth RBI of the year as the Cubs got
a two to one win over the Rockies. The Guardians
outscored that Dodgers seven and four, ruining a Clayton kersh
All day. Tanner scott Is Frostburg yells into the microphone
three run home runner, Jenny, Yeah, you know, what can
you do? But you know he has twenty six strikeouts
away from three thousand after he got three strikeouts today,

(31:54):
so that'll be coming soon.

Speaker 5 (31:55):
Hopefully won't blow that safe.

Speaker 3 (31:57):
Two oh.

Speaker 7 (31:57):
The Pirates crushing Diamondbacks ten to one on Paul Skins
six and two thirds pitch innings, pitched seven strikeouts. The
Brewers walked it off for the second game in a
row against the Red Sox. This one was six to
five and ten intings. That is a three game sweep
of Boston. The White Sox beat the Mets nine to four.
The Tigers the best team in baseball per Jason Smith.

(32:18):
Earlier today four to three over the Giants, and the
Ray shout out the twin to five to nothing. Houston
starter Rono Blanco is undergoing elbow surgery next week.

Speaker 5 (32:27):
That's going to have him on the bench for this
year and.

Speaker 7 (32:30):
Most of the twenty twenty six season as he recovers.

Speaker 5 (32:33):
The Astros beat the A's five to three.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
Back to you.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
Guys, thanks so much, Martin.

Speaker 1 (32:38):

the Lakers in. Okay, all right, very good, very good, Martin.

Speaker 7 (34:28):
My vote is yes as well because I don't think
that the Lakers in. But that title was when Magic

Speaker 3 (34:34):
Okay, ah, good, good thought, good thought. Okay, Crossburg, Because

Speaker 4 (35:06):

Speaker 3 (35:09):

Speaker 5 (35:11):
It is a tweet.

Speaker 1 (35:12):

Speaker 4 (35:49):

Speaker 3 (35:52):
He just hurt his shoulder back himself on the back.
All right, Yes, Martin, is that a magic Johnson tweet?

Speaker 5 (35:58):
It's not a magic Johnson's week?

Speaker 7 (35:59):
Is a magic Johnson sweet would have ended named the
Magic Johnson m VP Western Conference UH Finals Trophy winner?

Speaker 3 (36:06):
Okay, all right, all right? Thinking too much? Martin?

Speaker 1 (36:09):
Yeah, see that's the part about this game. You start
thinking too much, it really gets to you, all right.
Frostburg is that of magic Johnson tweet?

Speaker 3 (36:14):
Oh? Yeah, I think it is?

Speaker 1 (36:20):
Okay, alex is that of magic Johnson tweet? Mere Crusoe you, oh, do.

Speaker 3 (36:28):
You want to be Caruso for the game and say.

Speaker 1 (36:36):
They just didn't want to give them the money that
the other you know, other teams gave it he deserved. Well,

Lakers haven't made a good one. Okay, you're stalling. You
have to give me an answer. All right. You don't know,
do you? You don't know, do you? That's odd. You're trying.

Speaker 1 (36:52):
You're trying to be like in Princess Bride, where Vessini
and Uh of the Battle of Wits to the end.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
You think I'm gonna take You've given everything away.

Speaker 3 (37:02):
I know where the poison is.

Speaker 1 (37:05):
Congratulations to shake gilgess Alexander for winning the MVP of
the Western Conference Finals named after me.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
That is.

Speaker 3 (37:15):
A magic Johnson wear it.

Speaker 1 (37:23):
The thunder got up early and were never in trouble
on their way to the NBA Finals.

Speaker 3 (37:29):
Is that a magic Johnson tweet? Yeah? Okay, all right,
we're going streaky. Yes, all right, he has been tweeting
a lot. I'm Danielson. Yes, yes, Martin. Is that a
magic Johnson tweet?

Speaker 5 (37:45):
Fool me?

Speaker 3 (37:45):
Once?

Speaker 5 (37:45):
Shame on somebody.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
No, it's not okay, that's not okay, it's for me. Once,
shame on, Shame on you. Fool me twice, you're stupid.
I think that's a lot.

Speaker 4 (37:57):
And President Bush said, yeah, we won't get fooled again,
but you won't get fooled again. Yeay, Frostburg, is that
a magic Johnson tweet?

Speaker 3 (38:07):
Say it again?

Speaker 1 (38:08):
The Thunder got up early and we're never in trouble
on their way to the NBA.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
Finals, Like they got up early this morning. Well, yeah,
they played the game. They did play the game. They
played well, they played well with somebody who never gets
up early is the guy who's tweeting. So I'm gonna
say no, okay, all right, tight shirt.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
Not a fan of Bush by the way, Okay, the band, No,
the band or the president the previous president.

Speaker 3 (38:38):
Okay, or running up that hill? How does that work?
Former president? Yees?

Speaker 4 (38:43):
Yeah, you stay the president when you're you're always president.
Keep that title.

Speaker 3 (38:46):
So like if I called Belichick coach, it's still cool.
Yeah he is coaching. He wasn't. Yeah he's still coach. Really,
It's like being Emmy nominated, yeah.

Speaker 1 (38:56):
Always, yeah, you're always I mean or Oscar winner, Okay,
I'm you're nominated.

Speaker 4 (39:00):
Thing with the guy in the place, you're always that guy. Yeah, yes, okay,
the thunder got up early. We're never in trouble on
their way to the NBA finals.

Speaker 1 (39:12):
That is.

Speaker 4 (39:18):
Not no Johnson tweets your selfish bastards.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
It's become my new favorite drop on this.

Speaker 4 (39:28):
There's no reason for you to play, but there's a
whole sound bore that it's gonna sound just like it.
So you might have been on the other end of
what he was saying. You guys want the good news
of the bad news good. The good news is yeah,
But do you guys say they want the bad news first?
I always take the bad bad news, bad news first. Well,
the game ends for right now, Okay, the good news
is yeah, we got more to play it next time.

Speaker 3 (39:49):
He was that tweeting a fool all.

Speaker 4 (39:51):
Right, going man, going to going to going, but coming
up next, you want to know who the real face
of the NBA should be?

Speaker 3 (40:00):
Is only one player and he's next.

Speaker 2 (40:03):
