Speaker 2 (00:22):
Let's give this part. You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome in side our three, The Jason Smith Show
with my bess friend Mike Harmon, live from the Tirack
dot Com Studios tirac dot com. I'll hope you get there.
An unmatched selection, fast, free shipping, free road hazard protection,
over ten thousand recommend it installers. Tiraq dot com is
the way tire buying should be. And well, sometimes I

(00:51):
think we are all Frank the tank he was. He
was way more unhappy about the Dolphins lost the night
than maybe any Mets loss.

Speaker 2 (00:58):
This it's a perform he is. Or yeah, no, no, no, don't.
I don't think there's a genuine piece of fandom in
any of it, Like, hey, can you punch the couch
and scream like an idiot okay, no, no, no, I
need you a little bit louder, A little bit louder now, no, no,
I see.

Speaker 1 (01:15):
Frank in those videos. I think he's pretty genuine. I
think they just wait for the right moment and they
get him and he gets mad. Then I think he
had a bunch of jerks around you too. It We're
gonna follow you with a camera and what and just
wait for what. Don't worry, we'll know when we see it.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
All right, How would you feel on I mean, I
guess if you profit enough, it doesn't matter. It kind
of look like a chat. It doesn't matter. I don't care.
I can't believe we lost.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Uh So, the Bills, in a dominant effort, beat the
Dolphins thirty one to ten. We talked about James Cook
a few minutes ago, and just a little bit more
on him before we get back into Tua.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
Is that you know?

Speaker 1 (01:51):
I said a few minutes ago, he's gonna wind up
having the best season of any running back in the NFL.
And the combination of what he's going to be able
to accomplish as a lead running back, combined with what
other players' roles are going to be slash where they
are right now. I mean, it's really difficult to find
somebody where you can say, hey, oh yeah, there's lots

(02:14):
of good running backs in the game, but you want
to go down the list of guys that you think
are gonna have terrific years, and it's well, this guy's
gonna want and splentdy more time. This guy's dinged up
right now. It's so it's a combination of the Bell
cow running back of James Cook and and the big
combo of hey, all the other guys in the NFL,
what kind of year are they going to have? Because
we Christian McCaffrey, who knows he's gonna play again, right

(02:35):
We already know you're gonna play this week. We've heard
that maybe a couple of weeks after that.

Speaker 2 (02:39):
So what kind of years? He didn't have to declare
him out definitively because he was on the field and
limited earlier today, you know, playing those games.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
Mister, mister, mister, mister, mister, mister, mister limited.

Speaker 2 (02:52):
Either way, he's a great example of you don't need
him for seventeen games. No, you need him in December
and January.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
Lim there you.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Go, nano bubbles for the world. But to your point
like you've got a lot of guys that you know,
there's split time, and then there's a couple like you're
Bijon Robinson that everybody pushed all in on that they
want to put blinders on, thinking you please give him
the football more. But last year, right, he was a
twelve hundred total yard guy. You would have thought he

(03:22):
saw it four times. People talk, but that doesn't take
away that game. I don't even think he knew he
was dressed.

Speaker 1 (03:28):
Oh, I keep forgetting we got Bejon, but you puay
your head's But it was more situational.

Speaker 2 (03:33):
Like why why is all Jihan the field? Why is it?
Why is an empty backfield? What are we doing?

Speaker 1 (03:38):
Why why is William Andrews running the football? Why do
we give it to Bejehon Robinson? So you have that
so situations layout. But Kenneth Walker, the third already hurt
may not go this week. We talked a little bit
about Breis Hall last hour. Kyrin Williams. You're probably gonna
see some.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
Blake Korum mixed in over time, particularly if he's gonna
keep I mean, there's not a lot of returns the
way that kits are going. But you have that and
just go on down the line. Do you trust Josh
Jacobs if Jordan Love misses significant time? No, not so much.
So you know, just go through workload splits expectations. There's
no obvious number two. We talked about Ray Davis as

(04:15):
a nine carry guy tonight to grind out the second
half of this game. But you don't have a guy
that you're saying, all right, necessarily if James James Cook
has a slow game change of pace whatever, it's not
really there, right, It's it's really more gonna be on
the arm and legs and Josh Allen if that comes
to it, at least at present. So yeah, pretty good

(04:37):
spot for him to tally a pretty healthy touch total and.

Speaker 1 (04:43):
You'll see that big thing at the end of the year.
The number of teams that won Fantasy championships at James
Cook is they're running back twenty eight percent of teams
at one edge. I mean, he's got everything.

Speaker 2 (04:51):
Well, he was grossly undervalue for fantasy purposes, and the
people ignored the reception total. Stefan Diggs got more credit
for stuff than any non quarterback in recent memory.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
I know a lot more in the bills coming up
in a bit, because boyle, I'll tell you if things
look great for them. Meanwhile, to a tongue of Iloa
leaving tonight's game in the second half after suffering another concussion.
Miami was down thirty one ten and already wasn't a
great night for two of He had thrown three interceptions,

(05:23):
two of them not his fault, a couple of them
because he's throwing to the number four and five receivers
that didn't really run the right patterns. The third one
on him as he's getting sacked. He just chucks it
up and it gets run back for a touchdown, effectively
sealing the game. But the Dolphins were on the comeback trail.
They were inside the ten yard line looking to make
it a two touchdown game. Was still a lot of
time left to go to a scrambled and this happened.

Speaker 4 (05:47):
Out of the shotgun back to throw, looking pressure, he's
gonna run with it at the five eight yard line.
It puts his head down and gets bounced down at
the six and he looks digged.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Joe, oh boy. He had to run.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
He wasn't sure, so instead of sliding once he got there,
he picked up a.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Couple extra yards it's a great effort, but by this
is it's not good.

Speaker 2 (06:09):
No, it's not so.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Tano Violo is up walking slowly off the field.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
However, us there.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
It was on a Dolphins radio network on the call.
Now the play was was a weird play. We know
that to his concussion history not the greatest. The Dolphins
history of dealing with to his concussion also not the greatest.
But this was to a kind of getting caught in between, right,
It was a nice scramble and he ran for a

(06:37):
first down and he's in the middle of the field,
and weirdly, it's Demr Hamlin who comes up to make
this tackle, who I think made every tackle in the
first half of the Bills tonight. To was scrambles from
the thirteen yard line and he comes up the middle
of he sees he's got a lot of open field,
and it looks like he gets caught in between. And

(06:58):
because he's running and he's it looks like he still
thinks I have more room than I do. But Damar
Hamlin closes the gap like because Toua breaks through the
line and it looks like he's got a lot of
green grass in front of him. Except DeMar Hamlin's able
to come up and meet him a lot sooner than
he expected because Jamar Hamlin was on the side. Once
ta continues to go, Hamlin really cuts fast towards the

(07:20):
middle of the field and there's no place for Tua
to slide, and he kind of gets caught halfway. But
instead of really protecting himself, he kind of turtles, just
kind of puts his head down and running into Hamlin.

Speaker 2 (07:32):
Runs into shoulder Hamblin's chest and shoulder, which and that.

Speaker 1 (07:38):
And I know that look two is a really smart quarterback,
and I don't think there was room for him to
slide because he knows where the first down line is
and if he slides, he may not get the first
down because they figure out where you slide. He passes
the line for the first down and it's like a
yard after that he gets hit. So I'm sure he's thinking,
I can't slide right here because if I slide, not

(08:00):
get the first down. So he tries to go forward
and instead of diving protecting himself, he kind of gets
caught halfway. And that's and that's the sad part of
this is that it was just a play that happened,
but quarterbacks, and especially guys like Tua, Like, when you
have that kind of history, protecting yourself needs to be
something where you need to be able to make business

(08:22):
decisions on the field. Right. I'm the first guy to
say Cam Newton's business decision in the Super Bowl against
the against the Broncos, what the hell you doing?

Speaker 3 (08:29):
Man?

Speaker 1 (08:29):
Jump on the football. But when you're a quarterback like Tua,
I am eminently okay if you make that business decision
to say I'm gonna slide right here, Oh we just
quite didn't get the first down.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
I don't care.

Speaker 1 (08:40):
We'll go for it. You know, we're going for it
on fourth down. If we get it, great, If not,
what does it matter. I'd rather have you healthy for
the whole season.

Speaker 2 (08:47):
Right.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
It was an all or nothing play. It was fourth
and four, and I'm sure like in his head, like
I said, I don't know if I'm sliding I'm gonna
give me the first down or not. But for a
guy like Tua this early in the season, if you
make that business decision, no one's gonna care.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
You're gonna come up.

Speaker 1 (09:02):
Hey, we understand your history with concussions to as well
loved by as teammates they know his fire, they know
the kind of player he is. Mike McDaniel loves him.
I think he gave him a hug and a kiss
when he came off the field. He was felt so
bad for Tua coming off. If he makes that business decision,
you kind of have to if you're too I get it.

Speaker 2 (09:20):
You have to do that.

Speaker 1 (09:20):
When you're a quarterback and you're and part of your
game is scrambling, or part of your game as you're
susceptible to injury, you make that business decision. I'd say
the same thing for Josh Allen. Dude, make it. I
know you're bigger than a lot of people, but make
that business decision. You want to be playing football and
you don't want to be breaking down you're thirty one
years old. Like Cam Newton who loved a big, punish

(09:41):
defensive backs. It allowed him to stay healthy for his career.
But look, the guy was done when he was thirty
one years old. If you need to make that, make
that business I'm never gonna be upset at a quarterback
that that's their game or they have an injury history,
make that decision.

Speaker 2 (09:53):
It's okay, It's funny you mentioned Cam and I still
look at his career and I think the window the
box of what we used to expect and hope for
from quarterbacks to where we'd get eight to ten years
of a guy being viable as opposed to the mutant
world we live in now with Rogers and Brady and

(10:13):
Breeze and now Stafford. I mean, now it's extending, but
we had very few guys that once you got into
your mid thirties, you're still slinging it and playing at
a maximum level. So Cam Newton giving me eight years
at what maximum came was? I still say, all right,
we got the best of it. Now. The Super Bowl
decision aside, which we can relitigate another time. But for Tua,

(10:36):
it's game two of a long season. You've been paid
commensurate with the expectations that you're going to be a
leader for this team for a long time, that you
drive this offense and its efficiency, and we see it.
I mean, he made a business decision with that half
ass pass that he threw to the sideline, right that
was I'm not taking a hit, I'm not taking a sack,

(10:57):
and I'm getting rid of the football. Unfortunately, I'm really
far away from the sideline and I'm behind the line
of scrimmage and in the tackle box, so I got
to get it completely out of bounds or pray and
wish and hope someone's gonna catch it. Instead it's an
interception the other way. So yeah, just a miserable decision there,

(11:18):
but a business decision. Did not take a hit as
he's throwing off, you know, his back leg and everything else.
But for this particular scramble, like even as we're live
and watching it, it's like, get down, get down. He
didn't get down, and then it crumples. You see the
hand motion like all of that, you know, shades, and
we saw the montage and certainly on social media it's

(11:41):
just every hit who has ever taken is now back
in front and center and calls for him to, you know,
retire immediately and everything else have begun. We'll see what
the extent is. And all the positivity as he went
off the field is great and all finding good, but
it doesn't negate what the history is. And to your
point about taking making the business decision. Yet, it's week two.

(12:05):
It's a long season, and you're getting blown out. You're
getting blown out if you turn it over on downs
because they give you a bad spot or McDaniel needs
to fight the spot about where you gave yourself up
or whatever. That's fine, you're gonna be ready for week three.
Now it becomes a question of Skylar Thompson. I already
showed you the active trading card market for Skyler Thompson

(12:25):
just through the roof. Because now he's presumed to be
the guy indefinitely throwing the ball to hill and waddle
and trying to make something happen. But now it's you
have no clue when he's next going to be available
for you, and if he's available to you again. I mean, look,
he had three concussions in the season, you know, a

(12:45):
year and a half ago, and now here's another one
early on. The good news for him is that, okay,
he hasn't had one in a while. But you're also
starting you're piling on concussions now, so you're worried about
the guy for not just football, but for his life.
You're like, okay, this is a lot of concussions now
for and if and the more is the more you get,
the more susceptible you are to them. I would think

(13:05):
that the Dolphins would keep him out, but if it's not,
if it's not a quote serious one, they have ten
days off. I wouldn't rule out the TUA can come
back and play in week three. But you really have
to start wonder, like, Okay, we just gave this guy
two hundred million dollars and now the concussion is such
a big deal for him, Like I know you want

(13:26):
to rush him back on the field, but you need
to be able to say, Okay, let's if he needs
to be out a couple of weeks. He needs to
be out a couple of weeks. But that's the thing
is that you know, now it becomes the business of
football versus the business of football, right, capital B and
small B. In this of the money spent, the guarantees
are there, and as we always talk about, you know,

(13:48):
we've done plenty of discussions about the salary cap, salary
cap manipulation, et cetera, to get yourself to the next
round of player acquisitions and retentions. In this case, they
can't be thinking about what they paid him. That's got
to go off to the side. That's a that's a
separate conversation, because if that's what's dictating pushing him back

(14:09):
out onto a field. Everybody in the organization needs to
get fired.

Speaker 1 (14:13):
I no, so see, I think that's what you keep
him from getting back out there until he's absolutely ready
not to get it back. I Hey, we're paying him.
It's like we're paying this guy a lot of money.
So let's give it a couple of weeks, right, Let's
let's give him a little bit extra time before he
put him back out there, because not only do we
want to make sure he's safe, but he is an asset.
Look and that that's part of what goes into things.
But let's just make sure he's really okay, because the
last couple of times he was rushed back in Weber,

(14:35):
we couldn't believe he's back.

Speaker 2 (14:36):
Are you kidding? You're putting him back in the game.
I hope the Dolphins have learned from that going in
well as an NFL as well. This is where the
invisible hand of Park Avenue needs to come in, right,
because the last thing you want because look, all those
morning news shows, don't tell me they're not already prepping
the to a concussion package for tomorrow morning. The bad Evil,

(15:00):
NFL and the Dangers and everything else. It's prime high
school football season. Pee wee football season, those scare things
that we do each and every year, or so it
seems on the morning news specials and shows that this
is a story that becomes rife for it once again.

Speaker 1 (15:21):
Exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome. The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Carbon live from

withey from Mike McDaniel hitting the podium right now talking
about the game tonight and Tua. More on the bills,
because boy, I'll tell you, as bad as thing look
for them a couple of weeks ago, things look fantastic

(15:42):
for them. Right now.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
We got more on that.

Speaker 1 (15:43):

Speaker 1 (16:35):
Fox Sports Radio. Welcome Inside Bill's beat the Dolphins thirty
one to ten.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
I had the Underwright, you did add the under. You
did the under. You didn't think it would take these
twists and turns to get there, But you know what,
it doesn't matter, asked if I had the game right?
Did you have the game right? I had the under.
I mean I could to have them play it back
to you. No, nuts, it's a gad it back to you.

Speaker 1 (17:00):
I said we would win by by at least ten,
and I was right. I just I just said the
wrong team in Miami. I meant to say Buffalo. Yeah,
uh so a big win from the Buffalo Bills. Are
they back? Did they ever go anywhere? Joining us?

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Now?

Speaker 1 (17:18):
Take a look back at this one, and I look
ahead at all the big action this weekend we're about
to head to Vegas. Mike Carmen, do do Do Do
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do Do do. This
is this is better than the bolo music you were
playing last night. I did, but you know, I'm just
saying you played it though I asked for it. But

(17:40):
you played whose names on the show. It's the Alex
Tischer Show. You'll only work two days a week. It's okay.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
You was your four days. You were the lamar Odom
of Fox Sports. Rate.

Speaker 1 (17:51):
You work a day, you're off, two days. You work
a day, you're off three day.

Speaker 2 (17:57):
Tomorrow. I think Tom's ready.

Speaker 1 (18:03):
Longtime friend of the show, our insider in Vegas. Check
out the bet the Board podcast. Former odds maker at Caesar's.
He's on CBS. Also ad covers it is Todd Furman. Todd,
what's happening, Bud?

Speaker 3 (18:15):
You know I've never figured out Smith after doing the
show with you boys as long as I have. If
being called a friend of the show is a positive
distinction or is something that works against me in the
grand scheme of things, so it can be quite the
polarizing assessment of my personality or lack of judgment, Well,
ask me how.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Much better has your life gotten the last few years
since coming on with us? Hell of a lot better?

Speaker 3 (18:36):
I mean, this is radio, This is national Radio after dark, right,
so I can share my real feelings on that or
should I save those from my therapist next week?

Speaker 2 (18:43):
Well, we got another half hour before you can let
any exploitis.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
But let me just look and see how your profile
has exploded. You got married, and it's all because of us,
So there you will.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
Wait, I mean, my wife is I don't think she's
in the house. Now, wait, marriage is a positive and
all this.

Speaker 2 (19:01):
I don't think she's in the house.

Speaker 1 (19:02):
I could actually hear you turning your head to look
behind you to see.

Speaker 2 (19:06):
If you know what.

Speaker 3 (19:08):
It reminded me of those old butt ice commercials or
bud Dry where the it's the call is coming from
inside the house. So I had to kind of pull
the exorcit in my head on a swivel. But realize
she's not in the house and can't hear anything negative
that I say about my loving wife.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
I will before we go ahead, Let's go back to you.
How did you do tonight with Bill Dolphins? What was
your action on it?

Speaker 3 (19:27):
You know it didn't do anything with this game side
or total feel like underbetter is extremely fortunate given the
way the second half when unfortunately you see two us
up for a concussion in that regard, that really clamped
down on some of the offensive productivity for those two teams.
But explore the prop market came up a bit short
with Dalton Kincaid continue to think he's underutilized in the
new look Bill's offense, but Devina Shane continues to be

(19:48):
one of the players that is an unheralded superstar in
terms of the way the Dolphins have got him involved
as a runner and receiver. Fully expect odds makers to
adjust his receiving yards props going forward, even with a
change of quarter back, most likely to Skyler Thompson a
week from Sunday when they head up to Seattle.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
I'll tell you harm I knew that because Todd tweeted
earlier tonight. Absolutely Mike McDaniel has eight chan in fantasy
and started him tonight, which is why the game.

Speaker 3 (20:11):
I mean, look, if I knew that part, I probably
would have had a stronger position on some of his
proms and his usage rates because let me tell you
when you're watching that game, and then I'll come had
long since been decided. At thirty one to ten, the
camera continues to pan to Tyreek Hill and Jalen Waddell
yucking it up on the bench, and there is the
Star running back out there, knowing that Raheem Moster is

(20:32):
already injured catching balls out of the backfield, running between
the tackles, and you're thinking yourself of another dolphin gets hurt.
This is not going to be a pleasant press conference,
in the least for their head coach, who continues to
let the team down in.

Speaker 2 (20:43):
Some of the biggest games anything from the first half.
You know, with Cook being a dominant force, Josh Allen
didn't need to be superman today. Have we seen the
markets respond and maybe come back towards the Bills a little?

Speaker 3 (20:55):
Yeah, Honestly, I think in the big picture the Bills
were kind of a cell team within the division. That's
the reason that the Jets closed. Is the AFC favorite
AFC East favorite coming into the season. But you look
at the way the Bills have played through their first
two games, and quite frankly, this may sound like a
cop out, I'm not sure we have a great data point.
The first week against Arizona, they got themselves in a
whole seventeen to three and needed a battle back in

(21:16):
a little bit of inclement weather. It was Josh Allen
kind of thinking and dunking his way with ultra efficiency
and only twenty three pass attempts and a Sean McDermot
and Ken Dorsey. They didn't have to do much to
try and stretch the field. So we haven't seen what
this Bill's offense will necessarily look like when it's pushed
a little bit and defensively. You know, Bills fans holding
their breath for the potential losing yet another linebacker. Knowing

(21:38):
about the injury to Matt Milano and tell Bernard if
he's going to miss some time. Ordrell Dotson can change
the dynamic of what they can do in the middle
of the field. But the Bills will have extra time
to heal up because they don't play again until they
host the Jags for Monday Night Football a week for Monday.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
All right, tod we'll get to the rest of the
NFL site coming up. But of course we got a
big game tomorrow night. Arizona's going to go with Kansas State.
Then we have the big nude kickoff on Saturday with
Alabama and Wisconsin. I'd say you, as much as I
look at this game, I'd love to be able to
think Wisconsin could do something, But I just keep seeing
Alabama in a route, Alabama in a route. How do
you see this one?

Speaker 3 (22:10):
And the big question is which Alabama team is for real?
Is it the group that we saw absolutely dismantle Western
Kentucky in their season opener, or is it the team
that we saw struggle for the better part of three
and a half quarters last week with South Florida. For
folks that didn't watch the game and see the final
score forty two sixteen, they go, oh, Alabama went out
there and dominated. I mean, that's a twenty one sixteen
football game with about six and a half minutes left,

(22:32):
and Alex Coolish's USF defense did a great job kind
of mudding up the waters, clogging those rush lanes and
making Jalen Milrow a little bit more one dimensional. Now
for the problem for Wisconsin, they're very good on the
back end and defensively maybe a little bit underrated, but
this offense doesn't scare anybody. The Dairy raid or whatever
they're calling it in Madison now looks to be stuck
in mud, and we'll see if Tyler Van Dyke can

(22:53):
get this team going. If the number ticks up to seventeen,
it would probably trigger a value bet for me there
on the dog. But I'm not going to be so
bold and brash to call for an outright upset, even
if this is the biggest number that Wisconsin has caught
as a home underdog and over the last thirty years.

Speaker 2 (23:07):
Todd one more from college. We got Colorado Colorado State.
Interesting on the field, Lots of narratives with Colorado, but
also the fact that everybody's doing some trash talking, which
is always good for business. Seeing the line either seven
or seven and a half? Do they have enough offensive line?
Is it shador holding the ball too long? Can they
overcome those issues?

Speaker 3 (23:27):
You wonder if this Colorado team implodes a bit. I mean,
last weekend's effort at Nebraska not exactly a ringing endorsement
for them, making a step forward and being able to
flirt with bull eligibility. Now, Fortunately for them, they're not
going to face the defensive line that tenacious this week.
He has Colorado State, but they do have to go
into hostile territorym for the first time in an Eternity
will play the Rocky Mountain showdown in Fort Collins against

(23:49):
Colorado State. You look at the Rams a couple of
data points so far this season of fifty two to
nothing drubbing against Texas that I guess looks better seeing
what Texas did on the road end and arbor. But
you do have some question about Braden Fowler Nicolosi dealing
with a injury to one of their top wide receivers
and Tory Horton, although he got upgraded. This is Colorado
State Super Bowl given what got away from them last year,

(24:10):
and a game is nearly a three touchdown underdog. That
being said, I'm not sure I'm running into the window
to back the Rams here. And these are two programs
just fighting for a level of respectability. But credit to
the folks and Fort Collins for helping to try and
resurrect the PAC twelve after dark, becoming one of six
members now trying to build that league back to prominence.

Speaker 2 (24:26):
See, but here's the thing, it's not really the PAC twelve.
It's just a couple of teams and everybody else in
the Mountain. It's not really We'll get back to twelve.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
No, I mean, look, look I hate to be the
bearer of bad news, but the ACC now has two
teams from the Bay Area in Callen, Stanford, and the
Big Ted hasn't had ten teams and since since I
was getting bar MITZVN, you know, back in nineteen ninety five.

Speaker 1 (24:47):
A right, Well, that's well, put your latest Bet the
Board podcast is up and get the link to it
on Todd's Twitter page at Todd Ferman or at Bet
the Board Pod. Give me a couple of games you
went through you like this weekend. What's a couple of
things you like on.

Speaker 3 (25:00):
Well, we're looking at the NFL slate. I actually think
it's a bounce back spot for the New York Giants.
I know they look down right horrific last week in
getting dismantled by the Minnesota Vikings to the tune of
twenty eight to six. But you look at Washington and
I think they're going to experience some growing pains, especially
on the defensive side. We saw the gaudy numbers that
Baker Mayfield and Company put forth, and while I don't
think Daniel Jones can replicate that, especially if Malik Neighbors

(25:23):
is a little bit nicked up, this is a Giants
team that I think their offensive line will hold up
in this spot, and I really believe their defensive front
will be able to generate pressure while Jaden Daniels continues
to go through growing pain. So I like the Giants
to go on the road and get a divisional win.
I mean outright, I guess they have to do as
a one point underdog, and I think a fascinating matchup
that we're going to see unfold, you know, takes place

(25:44):
between the Minnesota Vikings and the forty nine Ers. Would
have liked the Vikings a lot more at six. Not
sure I'm in love with them in the four and
a half five threshold San Francisco on a short week
where Kyle Shanahan has been good in his career. We're
not sure about the availability of Christian McCaffrey. But as
Jordan Mason proved, you know, most guys can go out
there with a downhill running style and really change with
the not changed what the forty nine ers will do.

(26:05):
And this is a Minnesota team that if they can
win this game outright against the forty nine or something
they accomplished last year in Monday night football, it'll really
open some eyes knowing that Sam Darnold kind of became
an afterthought after JJ McCarthy's injury. They are, however, a
little bit limited, and I'm not sure you want to
go into battle against this forty nine ers defense with
Jalen Naylor as your secondary receiving threat.

Speaker 2 (26:23):
All right, let me just do one last one, the
obvious one with our upbringing Todd plus six and a half.
The Bears on the road at Houston. CJ. Strouden Company
get big returns from Joe Mixon. He goes for one
a one to fifty nine s to Fon Diggs, maybe
addition by subtraction to Buffalo, but either way, happy returns
in Houston. To start Bears offense has to be better

(26:47):
than last week, doesn't It doesn't.

Speaker 3 (26:49):
I think they can't get worse. I mean, Kayler Williams
fourteen to thirty nine throws for ninety three yards. Of course,
I was one of the idiots that had the Titans
plus four and a half and still trying to figure
out nearly a week later, how that bet didn't get
to the window. When you look at Joe Mixon, I
mean it looked like he was shot out of a cannon.
Thirty rushing attempts, one hundred and fifty nine rushing yards
one hundred and seventy eight yards from scrimmage. That was

(27:11):
tied for the most rushing attempts he had in a
game in his career. But I think the interesting part
about that he only had seventeen rushing yards over expectations,
So that may be more a reflection of the Colts
defensive line and our inability to stop the run. When
you look at the Bears in this spot, I know,
like we said, last weekend's performance doesn't leave you birning
with confidence. But rookie starting quarterbacks and a relatively limited

(27:32):
sample size in prime time going back to the start
of the twenty twenty two season, twelve four to one
against the number, And I think what's even more surprising
for me, again a small sample size since twenty eighteen
number one overall picks when they play in prime time
in the rookie season one in five straight up, but
because they've been discounted by odds makers, they're actually five
to zero to one against the numbers. So fascinating matchup

(27:53):
here if the Bears defense can hold up. But you
think that the Bears offense has to be a little
bit more dynamic the problem for them. They could be
going into battle out Roma Dunes and Keenan Allen putting
the entire burdener Proof Entirely on DJ.

Speaker 1 (28:04):
Moore Vegas and insider Todd Furman. Check him out on
Twitter at Todd Furman. Also the Bet the Board podcast,

KC more on Chicago and Houston again Bet the Board
Pod on Twitter. Todd is always buddy, appreciate it, my friend,

(28:25):
enjoy the games. We'll talk to you, hey.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
Always a pleasure. And one last thing, har I'm glad
to see Northwestern waited all two games to make a
change at the quarterback position for the big matchup coming
up this weekend against EIU.

Speaker 2 (28:35):
Well, when you throw what nine almost interceptions, it's time
and you give away a game to Duke.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Yeah, yeah, that's a new stat Todd almost interceptions for Northwestern.

Speaker 2 (28:47):
Let's track that from the it's stopped putting the damn
ball in harm's way.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Hey, look Smith, Darnell Autry isn't walking through that door anytime.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
Sewing tooka rock don't make me come to Vegas and
attack you. See you buddy, have fun, good by, say
you abody. There it goes Todd, I hate you. You
you Lieutenant Weinberg. We got more from.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
The fabulous world of prognostication in the NFL this weekend
coming up in about ninety seconds, but first special delivery.
Steve Desager has everything that's trending in the wide world
of sports, including the how tight the NL Wild Card
race became tonight with all four teams off.

Speaker 2 (29:26):
Steve O, hold on.

Speaker 6 (29:27):
Let me call up the standings on the internet here.

Speaker 1 (29:30):
Not Oh, the internet's out eskay, our internet is out here.
You could tell us anything and we'd believe it. It's
gone the way of streaming in.

Speaker 2 (29:37):
The NFL tonight.

Speaker 6 (29:38):
Buffalo is a winner at Miami thirty one ten James
Cook three touchdowns in the first half for the game,
eleven carries seventy eight yards. Tomorrow hammelin ten tackles, tied
for the team lead. Buffalo led late first half twenty
four to seven quarterback to a tongue. Bailo of Miami
limped off with a concussion in the third quarter. He
finished with one touchdown pass three and including a pick six.

(30:02):
Dolphins running back de Von h N was active after
an ankle injury, had ninety six yards rushing plus seven
receptions sixty nine yards in a score. Miami running back
where Hee Moster was out tonight with a chest injury.
Steelers quarterback Russell Wilson with his calf injury, says he's
getting closer to a return, but he's been limited in
practice this week. Packer's QB Jordan Love did not practice

(30:24):
due to a knee injury. Malik Willis is due to start,
likely for a few weeks. According to NFL Network, Carolina
punter Johnny Hecker returned to limited practice after a bad back.
Colts kicker Matt Gay practice fully today after a sports ternia.
Joey Bosa, Chargers linebacker did not practice today due to
a bad back after being limited yesterday. Jacksonville plays defensive
back Tyson Campbell with his bad hamsterring on injured reserve Lyons.

(30:49):
Hall of Fame linebacker Joe Schmidt passed away at the
age of ninety two. He won two NFL titles with Detroit,
retiring after the nineteen sixty five season. In college football, tonight,
Arizona State trailed at Texas State twenty one to seven
late first half.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
It was a big first half by Scott Bakula three
touchdowns to McKenzie the Australian Rugger, but really slowed down
on the second half of it.

Speaker 6 (31:12):
Movie reference Kids, Arizona.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
Stone hands kept dropping pass after pass the second half.
It's very difficult for Texas State.

Speaker 6 (31:18):
Arizona State came back to win at Texas State thirty
one to twenty eight. South Alabama was an eighty seven
to ten winner against Northwestern State, which is zero to
three and the losers tonight at eight first downs and
eight punts to go with four turnovers. A reminder Friday
night on Fox TV number fourteen, Kansas State host number

(31:39):
twenty Arizona one WNBA game Tonight, New York thirty one
and six got an easy win at Dallas ninety nine
sixty seven and on Fox TV. In baseball this evening,
the Yankees in ten innings beat Boston two to one.
Juan Soto the game winning single his one hundred and
first RBI of the year. The Red Sox offense went
four for thirty three with fourteen strikeouts, and Boston with

(32:02):
runners in scoring position oh for eleven wins for Tampa
Bay Milwaukee wins for Houston and Colorado today which got
two runs top of the ninth to win at Detroit
four to two Tigers three and a half out. I
don't fe the last wild card in the AL behind Minnesota.

Speaker 1 (32:17):
Back to you now, Steve, just real quick the end
of that Texas State game. Was it a bad snap
from Manu Manu the Slender that forced Kathy Ireland to
have that last second kick go wide?

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Right? Are you like me?

Speaker 6 (32:28):
The first time you saw the movie? You think, Okay,
I'll give Kathy Ireland a chance at the kicker, and
then she actually winds up and kicks a ball.

Speaker 2 (32:36):
You sit in real life.

Speaker 6 (32:37):
That's not going five.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
Yeah, no, no no.

Speaker 1 (32:39):
But it looked good. Look good on celliphane? Right, yeah,
nobody looks good on ceane.

Speaker 2 (32:43):
That's what they say. Thank you, Steve, spend your disbeleath
my man The Jason Smith Show with my best friend

Speaker 1 (32:49):

friend Mike Harmon very much. You two live Fromthetirack dot
Com studios. Boy do we got some big stuff coming
out of the Bill's locker room in about ten minutes.

Speaker 2 (33:13):
Josh Allen, he did that one from the sideline.

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Let's go, let's light everything on fire, Josh Allen, what
uh the other big football story of the day. And
it looked this broken the final few minutes of the
show last night. The PAC twelve is on the way back.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
It's back.

Speaker 1 (33:35):
I know the packed I haven't even had time to make.
It happened late after dark on our watch. The PAC
twelve is going to reform next year. We know the
six teams are going to be Washington State in Oregon State. Obviously,
who were the two teams left over?

Speaker 2 (33:51):
The holdover? Yeah, and then look and let's do it
and then the Unwashed.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
They couldn't really get in a you know, another another conference.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
I want to see what kind of uh presentation they
put forward for their application to join. Yeah, not getna
do it work.

Speaker 1 (34:07):
But now the PAC twelve will reform next year and
six of the teams we know it's the teams we
just mentioned and Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State, and
San Diego State starting in twenty twenty six. Now they
need two more teams and it supposedly there's a lot
of interest in in teams coming in. And boy, you
think if Colorado State beats Colorado, I think not in
the field on Saturday's gonna have They're gonna have the

(34:28):
PAC twelve logo on Colorado State's field.

Speaker 2 (34:30):
I bought that Saturday. Just put that up. That would
be something. Why is it really slippery there? Well, we
got something we want to show you after the game.
We put the Pack twelve logos already there.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Now, first things first, Okay, I didn't know the PAC
twelve actually had any money. Because they're gonna help these
teams with the exit fee that they have to for
leaving the Mountain West. And they're also gonna do you
have to pay it all at once?

Speaker 2 (34:50):
Because because we've seen this with a lot of teams
where it's like they owe like four hundred million dollars,
Like have they paid a dime of it?

Speaker 1 (34:56):
No, the PAC twell is gonna put on a credit card.
I no worry, We'll just we'll just make the payments.

Speaker 2 (34:59):
On about the one. But it's like the scary you
don't want to get. You change the deciding bonuses, you
smooth it out over time.

Speaker 1 (35:05):
I mean, each of these four schools paying eighteen million
dollars and then twelve whatever penalties.

Speaker 2 (35:11):
PAC twelve is gonna help them. Where the bag twelve?

Speaker 3 (35:14):
Man?

Speaker 2 (35:14):
I saw a report that said they only had like
forty two million in assets, and that might be in
chairs and laser pointers.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Now, but the bigger point is this, that's a lot
of laser pointers. Uh. The bigger point is this. Yes,
in theory, it's the PAC twelve. It's not really the pack,
but it is.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
No, it's not.

Speaker 1 (35:32):
It's just a pack twenty three constituted. It's the PAC
twelve in name only. It's when they reboot.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Your favorite movie, dude, it's thirty like twenty one Jump Street.
You know that depth shows up eventually. Spoiler alert.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
It's like when Guns n' Roses broke up and then oh,
here's a when and when Chinese Democracy came out.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
What an album.

Speaker 1 (35:50):
It's Axel Rose and a bunch of guys who were
never in Guns and Rows. But it's one guys, it's
gonna it's not really the rights.

Speaker 2 (35:57):
To the name though, so we said, hey Bucket, hey
come on in.

Speaker 1 (36:01):
An Axel wrote solo album. That's a really good album.
But still it's not the same thing. It's like rebooting
Seinfeld but saying the only two people are gonna be
in it are Putty and maybe a little bit of Newman,
And we're getting a bunch of reality show stars. Boston
Rob is gonna come on and be on the show.
You watched The Challenge, Taylor you told me you did.

(36:23):
Taylor Hicks is gonna be on like they're getting on. Like,
that's not Seinfeld, that's just a couple of people from
it and all these other picks.

Speaker 2 (36:30):
That's what this is.

Speaker 1 (36:32):
It's not really the pac twelve Man Boss, Boss of
Rock be the first guy on that show.

Speaker 2 (36:38):
He's still going. Man, he's on the current season of
The Challenge Man like eleven versions of Survey. No, he's
a genius, made a career out of showing up and
being an Asshow Boston Rob will just keep bringing me back.
It's all good. Look, it's the next iteration and change
is hard, change sucks. But you know, you meet folks

(37:00):
that go and get remarried. You're not saying, ah, you
know blank that it's you know, if your friend's happy,
your friend's happy, right, Nothing like the original. It'll be odd,
especially if there's not really a lot of teams, you know,
near the Pacific Ocean, and it starts to mutate a
little more. But bringing in San Diego State's great. Our guy,

(37:24):
doctor Rich is gonna be happy. It's not the pac twelve.

Speaker 1 (37:28):
It's to call it the State eight because they're all
state schools, so call them the state.

Speaker 2 (37:33):
They're getting the twelve pack twelve. They're getting the twelve.
They need two more. They need two more to be functional.

Speaker 6 (37:38):
Over two years.

Speaker 2 (37:38):
How they gonna don't coach four more? From where? From
where they're out there, they're in the air, they're everywhere.
Coming up next.

Speaker 1 (37:47):
You want to hear the big thing, Josh Allen said
following the Bills Wintnight of the Dolphins.
