we shouldn't be too long away for an update on
(00:50):
Juju Watkins USC star, who went down in a heap
in the first quarter of USC's game against Mississippi State
a right knee injury. Her knee just buckled when she
was driving to the hoop on a fast break. Was
immediately picked up and carried off the floor. She was
in a tremendous amount of pain. USC has been very
(01:12):
scant with the details, just that she's being looked at.
It's an injury. She's not coming back tonight. But there's
about six and a half minutes left to go in
the game, and I think we're gonna get a running
clock because USC is absolutely thumping Mississippi State eighty six
to forty two. They were up eighty, they were up
eighty one forty two, and they're shooting threes right, so
(01:32):
they hit a big three to go up. The bench
is going crazy, so they have come up with a
really big effort so far in the wake of the
injury to Watkins. We're all waiting to find out what
it is. Is it an ACL is A is it
some kind of other knee injury. We don't know yet,
but I'm sure we'll get to Lindsay Gottlieb, head coach
of USC, and they'll talk about it following the game. Again,
(01:54):
what we had from Steve Disaga a few moments ago,
she was taken to the hospital. So she's gone from
the arena to the hospital after getting looked at, and
again you see it. It doesn't look good. The angle
from behind is really is really difficult to see, and
it's you know, you see that the knee just buckle
when she comes down and tries to plant and immediately
went down. Couldn't do anything else, no limping around, just
(02:16):
just grabbing her knee right away and yelling big deal,
of big deal for her. With the pain, the entire
arena goes silent, and now we're just hoping that Juju
Watkins gets some kind of good diagnosis, but seeing that injury,
I don't know, hoping putting it out there, hoping we
get some.
Speaker 3 (02:31):
Good games gotten shippy at points, which I believe is
leading to the let's continue to pile on points because
there is some school of thought from the Watkins injury
that the girl that made contact with her on the
inside part of that lane, that she had no business
and that that play might have been.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
Not quite the.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Same as we saw it with Sabonis and yeah and
Tatum before, but necessary and maybe depending I don't know,
if she gets a hip with her there, if it's
all arm you know, trying to go zu bruder film
frame by frame. But I think that led to a
little bit of chippiness. You've seen a fighting inside and
certainly demonstrative after big buckets all the way through And
(03:19):
I just want to point out the line for this
game was eighteen and a half and that was with
Juju Watkins. So the fact that they've doubled them up
at this point with five minutes left in the fourth
really trying to make a statement for their falling star.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah, and you know, not only that, but you know
there are reports and again, you know, trying to do
the show and talk about at the same time. You know,
when you look at the video of the replay, right
when you look at the video of it, does she
sort of try to get in front of her to
cut off her path. Yes, and a little bit because
(04:00):
we talked about a few moments ago, is that everybody's
going breakneck speed down the floor, and she could tell
that I'm gonna be able to cut Juji Watkins off,
like she's not gonna dribble buy me going for a
layup and I'm gonna hit you from behind. Something else
she can tell I can kind of maybe choke her
off a little bit because there's a defender on either side.
So she kind of steps in her lane a little bit,
(04:21):
in her way a little bit, but still Watkins comes
down with her foot and it's not you know, it
doesn't come down on a She didn't stick her foot
in the way for to step on it. So that play,
I'm sure everybody's looking herself to be mad about. And clearly,
you know, was that a play where hey, maybe she
tried to get a little physical. She didn't try to
get in there with any intent to injure. It's not
(04:43):
where you know, hey, we saw with Demanta Sabonis and
Jason Tatum a few moments ago where Sabon's I'm just
gonna stand where your landing spot is and you're gonna
roll your ankle when you come down to land on
my foot, which was ruled a flagrant foul. And Jason
Tatum has since come back into the game. Boston's rolling
over Sacramento and it looks like everything is okay. So yeah,
you know, getting and get it. But you know, I
could see it as she's kind of looking to choke
(05:05):
the playoff because she can and I can get in
the way of her. And the fact that it was
non contact and she tried to stop, uh, you know,
herself a little bit. It's tough. Is she off balance
a little bit? Yeah, but this is still her dribbling
down the floor and she still has the basketball, and
and it's really it's it's just right now, it's just unfortunate, right,
(05:25):
that's you can that's the best thing to say right now,
it's it's just unfortunate. We'll see and we'll hear from
the players and where everybody talks about after the game. Well,
we'll see what said. Look, we know one thing, Lindsey
Gottlieb isn't a shrinking violet. If she thinks she saw
something that was not right on that player, there was
something from the early part of the game that you
know played it out here, she's gonna say it, right,
She's gonna talk about Look, she was upset that we're
(05:47):
not the number one, number one seed. How is UCLA
above us? We beat them twice? So whatever she sees
that she says, we will we will get an answer.
She is not someone that's gonna play the right game
and say, oh, I'm gonna coach speak for a while now,
we'll get it from her.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
I have no doubt we'll have some strong words coming
off of this just massive USC victory and this story
between coaches and her teammates. I think are gonna have
some thoughts again, it's it got contested and heated a
number of times.
Speaker 1 (06:18):
There was just a huge moving screen.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
That was a big hit from a Mississippi's state player
and you can see all of the bigs for USC
start to step that way. Referee got in the way
of it really fast. So you know, just this one,
just getting down to those final four minutes and hopefully
nothing transpires from there. But yeah, I would I would
get from coach Gottlieb We're gonna get a bunch.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
And you know, and this is the other part of
it is that it's not just this, but you see
this game now without Juju Watkins, they're up ninety five
to fifty one, right, And you know, I was having
this conversation over the weekend about the men's tournament, the
women's tournament and how big a deal. Like I said, look,
you know, because I had some people are asking me, hey,
you know, what do you think. How big is a
women's tournament going to be this year? I said, women's tournament.
(07:07):
It's arrived. I don't know what to tell you. The
women's tournament has arrived. It's a thing. It's part of
the calendar women's college basketball. Then WNBA are the two
biggest sport. They're at the big boys table. Now they're
at the adults table. Right. This has become a thing.
Every year there's gonna be stars we talk about going
from one year the next. Last year it was Caitlin
Clark and some of angel Rees, and this year it's
(07:28):
been Watkins and Paige Becker's and all of this. I said.
The big difference though, what you're seeing with the women's
tournament the men's tournament is that the women's tournament is
kind of where the men's tournament had been for a
while up until Anil showed up. And there's less Cinderella's
going on, right is because the you know you've heard
when people talk about how the NIL portal has done
(07:49):
all this term. There's no Cinderellas anymore. But like you
watch women's tournament and I go, this is kind of
what it was in the men's turner for a long time.
When when you get a one sixteen game or a
two fifteen game, ooh, these these scores are ugly, Like
it's you know one oh six to forty seven, right, Well,
Yukon won last week, what eighty six to twenty five?
Like you see the the bottom of the tournament. The
(08:10):
teams that get in the at large teams or the
teams that win their smaller can you get in. It's
it's the you're not going to see any one sixteen
upsets or you know, many two fifteen upsets right now,
that's not gonna happen.
Speaker 3 (08:21):
No, I mean, it's it's the unfortunate part, right, growing
pains as it were, have ha nots all all of
those things, recruiting cycles and programs.
Speaker 1 (08:31):
What we tried to preach.
Speaker 3 (08:32):
And that we like, uh, you know in our other
professional sports, because let's call it what it is is
professional sports at this point, and you're you're building a
squad and continuity and because of the rules, you can't
go one and done and leave, right, So Juju Watkins here,
Hannah hidalgo over at Notre Dame. We're gonna get to
watch them at the collegiate level for a while longer,
(08:53):
right and regardless of you know, injury status for for Watkins,
we will see her again.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
And that's just the rules of engagement.
Speaker 3 (09:01):
Agreed, disagree, But we get that level of familiarity, program
building and continuity, so you get those great teams. I
got news for folks that have been writing about Cinderella
all weekend. There was a reason Cinderella was special. Herrass
didn't show up that often. Okay, so when she did,
that's why the prince was always moored yawning, because it's
(09:22):
the same old So when Cinda Morella showed up, it
was great.
Speaker 1 (09:26):
So this year you didn't have a Cinderella. Shut up.
This is what it's supposed to be.
Speaker 3 (09:30):
Where you get one or two teams that win a
game they're not supposed to, and then we get back
to the business as usual.
Speaker 4 (09:37):
Well, if that guy from Maryland doesn't travel and take
eight seyes with the game, we do have a Cinderella
in the species. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
Look, the NCAA Tournament is kind of like, how can
I say The nca Tournament is kind of like the
NBA All Star Game. It's a big event. I'll tell
you this hopefully sucks is that it's a big event.
And obviously the nca turn is bigger than NBA All
Star Game. But it's a big event. And afterwards and
(10:05):
during it, many people seem to be not happy, right
because of one reason or not. No matter what happens,
no matter what, it's gonna be. I'm just not happy
great anticipation. I'm not happy because there's too many Cinderella upsets.
Oh I'm not happy because there's not enough Cinderella upsets.
Oh I'm not happy because of this. I'm not gonna
It's like there's always gonna be something that people want
to complain about for the NCAA tournament. And and and
(10:27):
that's clearly the case down because now, what have you
heard the last the last twenty what's been the big
cliche argument you've heard from show to show to show
to show the NIL portal It gets kid. You know,
kids leave these smaller schools now and they go to
bigger school. Yeah, yeah, that's absolutely true. That's absolutely that happens.
That happens, So no more Cinderella's Okay, it's it's this year.
(10:47):
It's this year. This is this is what happens. Sometimes
it's this year that we haven't seen. We had upsets
last year and I portal's going on. Last I had up
to the we just didn't have them this year. It
happens that way. It's it's every NCAA tournament is different.
Maybe this is a year where hey, maybe the top
twelve or fifteen teams in the country are all real
because look, we all talked about how it's hard to
differentiate between these top top twelve, top fifteen teams. I
(11:11):
don't think there's a big difference between Houston and Texas Tech.
Texas Tech is really good. I think they're coming out
of that bracket now that Saint John's lost, you know,
because it picks Saint John's. But maybe that's a case that, oh,
maybe it's just we're more top heavy this year than
we think we are. We don't have the dominant team,
but we have a group of teams that are all
really good. Florida is really good, right, Houston's really good.
(11:31):
We said, hey, everybody, we're talking Duke is gonna roll
all the way to the final four. Like these teams
are all Auburn is really good, Alabama is really good.
You're talking about, Hey, this is like ten twelve teams
deep where they could all be number one seed. Many
years a lot of these teams would be number one seeds.
So I look at it this way as I think
this is one of those years where the heavyweights are
the real heavyweights, and the one, two, and three seeds
(11:53):
except for Saint bleep and John's you know, is coming
through here, and that's what we're gonna get. We're gonna
get a sweets where we're clearly like getting the best
Sweet sixteen and Elite eight games it could possibly get, right,
But that's.
Speaker 3 (12:05):
The thing, right, you pay one way or the other.
And in this case, all right, you didn't get your
fuzzy story to write five thousand words on or do
some great, great background on some particular player in their history.
Go figure out the nil kid, the student manager on
that everybody fell in love with boy. I really missed
(12:25):
the boat of being an internet celebrity at eighteen to
twenty by just being me. Would have been a great
time for flamboyant Mike Harmon with the way we traveled
about the country following our Wildcat team back in the day.
But the point is, now you're in theory you're gonna
get great basketball, all right, we'll find out Thursday and
(12:45):
Friday night real fast. But in theory, we're gonna get
the best of the best playing, which is what these
tournaments are really supposed to be about, aren't they.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
So while we.
Speaker 3 (12:55):
Complained that Cinderella didn't show up again, she generally doesn't,
which is why it's so exciting.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Again she does. Guy doesn't take seventeen ays.
Speaker 3 (13:06):
Hey, Maryland, I saw nothing wrong, says the man that
had Maryland advancing out his brack.
Speaker 1 (13:11):
Yeah, but that's one team and it's cree. Yeah okay,
but it's one team. It's like usually we get three
or four.
Speaker 3 (13:16):
Yeah, but you know what they gave us though, it
did give us the buzzer beater that we didn't have
anywhere else. So while we may have lost a quote,
sind but I wants, but.
Speaker 1 (13:25):
I want Cinderella buzzer beaters. I don't want. I don't want.
That's what I need, profile team buzzer beaters. You gotta
give me buzzer beaters with the Cinderella wins. I want
Bryce Drew. I don't want Maryland to win with a
buzzer beater. Come on, everybody. So if he matter what
in Baltimore, he doesn't make that shot.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
No, that's it, he said. Baltimore is what made him
ready for that show.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
Oh man, I'll tell you, guy, that's a guy that
watches the wire right there, guy that watches the wire. Uh.

Speaker 4 (16:53):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (16:53):
USC's game is over. She suffered a really bad looking
knee injury in the first quarter, was carried off the court.
Hopefully we get a good diagnosis, but again we're waiting.
We'll hear from usc aad coach Lindsay got Leeb sometime soon. Uh.
It's it's hard, right, It's hard, and I know that
that they're you know, we're dissecting the play and and
is the play dirty and did the you know, did
(17:16):
the did the defender try to get in her way
and get in her lane? I don't know that. We're
looking a lot at it. We're trying to look for something.
Is it a play in which the defender is trying
to make a play? Yeah, again, there's two defenders on her.
They're they're trying to stop her from getting to the hoop.
It's hard for me to see this as dirty. That's right.
(17:38):
It's it's hard for me to see it is dirty.
I mean I see it where and I see where
it got her off balance a little bit where Juju
Watkins got off bounce. But still she's got a clear
path in front of her, and and you know, taking
that step to try to slow down or cut or
whatever she wanted to do, that's where her leg you know,
went sideways and and her knee buckled all the way
to the left.
Speaker 3 (17:58):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
But again, it's hard for me to see that is
as as dirty. Like there was a tiny bit of contact,
but it's it's one of those plays where you see
it and you know, okay, you know, you know it's dirty,
definitively dirty. Utel right away, like you know, okay, this
is dirty, but this was hard for me to look at,
like you know, seeing it from a bunch of different perspectives. Okay,
I see that, I see. I don't know. It's hard
for me to see it as dirty.
Speaker 3 (18:19):
But everybody's starting to pull up all the different incidents
as men and certainly women's Diamond deshields on Caitlin Clark,
a play that was much examined. Go back to Cameron
Brink and how she got hurt last year going in
on a drive, not a lot of contact, but the
leg just gives out and now she's on the long
road to recovery to come back here in Los Angeles
(18:41):
for a second year for the Sparks. But yeah, you've
got contact. Did she cut off the lane, yes, trying
not to let her get to the baseline, go in
for a layup, making her pull up her gait, and
that's where the injury, yeah, inspires. Like I don't, I
don't see anything that just screams dirty play. Now, did
(19:03):
the USC women's squad as a whole take some exception
to that and some of the other contact that we'd
seen absolutely oh yeah, and they certainly enjoyed putting them
under in the second half, no question about it. But
in the play itself, I can't see it as just
(19:24):
obviously redlined.
Speaker 1 (19:27):
Again, it's really difficult. You have to start looking for okay,
this and here and did she never cuts her off?
She doesn't. It's again, it's a shame that had happened.
And and I think everybody was kind of a little
bit out of control on that play because everybody is
breaking exposed down the floor, yep. And and at some
point you're getting near the hoop. Something has to give,
(19:47):
right You either have to, you know, cut towards the
hoop or the defender's got to find a way to
cut you off. Like something's gotta You're getting close to
the hoop. This is not an open floor foul. You're
getting close to where Okay, it's finishing time. And again
I see it and I go, yeah, all right, you
can look through it and go, oh, did she need
to put her foot there like trying to stop or
(20:08):
get to the hoop right, Like I it's it again.
It's hard for me to see it. It's it's hard
for me to see it.
Speaker 3 (20:13):
Well, when we watched, you know, the Celtics game some
what fifteen minutes.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
After that play occurred.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
You had Sabonis do the jump into the spot of
Jason Datum as he's finishing on a jumper like he's
going to change his shooting style, et cetera. Well, no,
he lands straight on his foot and we had a
scary moment. He came back in to play and finish
the game. But in the moment and when it was
a flagrant one and very clearly so this not quite
(20:41):
as black and white.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
So again as soon be an update, we will bring
it to you. Instead, let's go to the NBA now
where boy, I don't know if you want to say
this is a double good news for the Lakers, because
the Lakers got pounded tonight and they got pasted by
the Magic, but Barnie James dropped on nine. However, yes,
(21:03):
the Lakers lose, they get blown out second game in
a row. Meanwhile, in the G League tonight, Bronnie James
goes for thirty nine points, seven rebounds, four assists, and
four steals, fourteen out of twenty one from the floor.
Bronny goes off tonight in the G League for thirty.
What was his plus minus? Oh man, I could just
(21:25):
see Steven A. Smith tomorrow. I always said he was
gonna be good. I never wanted to say anything bad.
I always said he was gonna be good. I know
what you're talking about. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (21:34):
Yeah, uh no, trouble with hot take nonsense.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Hey yeah, chapter one. Oh no, Lebron, Lebron. You know,
Lebron walked up on me at the game and all
of a sudden, I got scared. Now I gotta say things.
So the Lakers lose tonight, and is it embarrassing? Yeah,
because the Magic are not nearly the team they were
earlier in the season, and this is the second straight
game they've had Lebron back. Now. I didn't like a
(21:58):
lot of the flow the Lakers off. I felt like
it was, you know, just it was constant heat check
with Lebron and Luca. We're the only one shooting tonight.
It's almost like when you go play a five on
five game pickup and two guys who are really good
that our friends are on the one team, and they're like,
they're never gonna pass to us. Why you shoot for
teams like they're never gonna they're just gonna pass to
each other and we're rebounders. Yeah, point and as soon
(22:19):
as you get the ball, they're clapping forward. Give it
to me, give it to me. Okay, okay. But it's
not a big deal for me in this game, because honestly,
watching the Lakers play, it was a bad third quarter.
Right again, second game, we had a bad third quarter,
but a lot of laziness, a lot of laziness defensively,
a lot of just reaching in for to get some balls.
I don't see anything that that stands out to me
(22:43):
other than we're bored and we're waiting for the playoffs. Now, clearly,
you don't want that. You know, you want the Lakers
to say, hey, we want to fit a second. We
want to have home court as far as we can
all the way through. And there's you know, four teams
fighting for second place right now, and every game we
go from second to fifth than one night. You don't
want that. You want to be able to finish second.
(23:03):
At the same time, Luka Doncic comes to the Lakers
and right away they hit it big. They had a
one or two game adjustment period when Lucas started playing. Remember,
because Lakas won a bunch of games after the trade
before Luca could play, and then they went on a run,
and the Lakers looked the Hey they got it, right,
they got it. Luca and Lebron had all the chemistry
right away. They didn't need time together. They looked like
(23:23):
they've been playing together for years. Young Blood and Sudden
looked like they've been playing together for years. Say, look
like they've been playing together for a long time. And
the Lakers went on a big role. They were scoring
a bunch of points. They were beating a lot of people.
Lebron gets hurt and all right, now Lebron is back.
But watching the Lakers the last couple of nights, it's like, yeah,
you know, they're not making the extra pass defensively, they're losing.
(23:44):
They're they're losing their they're there at the end of possessions.
It's becoming easier for a team to make that final
pass for a layup or you know, to get underneath.
I don't see anything more than just all right, they're
a little bored. Now. They're bored. They're waiting for the
playoffs because they were ready for it the first out
there for the trade deadline. Hey we got Luca we're rolling.
Look how good we are. We got it all working
hotcha Moore? Is it in shots? Austin Reeves is great,
(24:06):
We're ready and it's honestly, I can see where they
look kind of bored. Again. You don't want that because
you want to be able to finish strong enough to
have home court advantages far the way through. I don't
want the home Court's not what it was here the
Knicks could finish sixth. Home court's not what it was.
You just want to usay out of the playing round
because you're playing somebody good no matter what. In the
second round. Maybe you want to avoid the thunder, but
(24:29):
you know, second round you could be playing the Nuggets. Hey, congratulations,
there's a great consolation prize. So I get it. But
for the Lakers, I don't know that. It's such a
doom and gloom scenario. And I know JJ Reddick is
going to be mad about this, and he's gonna be
mad at me because you know he hates me, but
he's gonna say I'm mad at the team for a
bad effort. Years. I got this guy in the radio,
Jason Smith one four six seven four, saying that, ah,
(24:50):
he doesn't care the Lakers are. It's not a big deal.
It's not teams get bored and it happens. It's the
dog days of August for some and NBA teams because
what oh I say all the time, once you get
to game fifty five, there's not a lot of difference
from game fifty five to game eighty two. Right, do
you have the trade deadline, and certain teams play a
lot better they get bet but overall the league it's
(25:10):
the same. There's no real change from fifty five to
eighty two. You're just waiting for the playoffs to start.
The Lakers had the month where they had to go
on a run, right, they had to get Luke. Okay,
we got to make sure we're on we're all on
the same page. Lebron's hurt, and look, we can ease
off the gas now a little bit. We'll win enough games,
will be in the top four. That's kind of what
we want. We want Lebron to be healthy for the playoffs. Well,
Luke could have a both full gas tanks for the playoffs.
(25:32):
So that's kind of what I see right now, which
is not something that's not you can't overcome it. I
think the Lakers when they get to the playoffs. As
long as they're healthy, they'll be fine. They're just a
little bored right now.
Speaker 3 (25:41):
Well, they also couldn't overcome the emotion in the arena
with former teammate and Magic star Dwight Howard getting his
number retired.
Speaker 1 (25:50):
Yeah, that is big, That is big. That's celebration. And
you said Dwight looked over the Lakers going at me
one day when I won the title. Remember in twenty twenty,
I was on the team. I was on the team.
I mean I wasn't quite everybody telling me I was instrumental.
I was on the team. I mean I wasn't nearly
as good as I had been like twelve years before,
but I was on the team.
Speaker 3 (26:08):
JJ Reddick in the post game admitted that the Lakers
quote looked quote tired, unquote. We weren't able to sustain
the level of intensity that we started the game with.
Also added that the team is quote going through it
a little bit right now, trying to get back and.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Rid of them. Now.
Speaker 3 (26:24):
Luka, Danci's still shooting forty one percent, which I think
eventually comes back to bite them in the ass. But
defensively against these squads and look Chicago and Orlando bring
a little extra heat to things, and that they're younger
squads that want to run cheat. Yeah, well sure, uh
(26:46):
the one hundred and forty five points absolutely.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
But just the idea of come playoff time.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
That's not the pace you're going to play at in
a seven game series, right, You're just not going to
both the East Eastern Conference team. You do have another
game against these Bulls Lakers with the fourth hardest schedule remaining,
and it is you.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Say that, but they've lots of teams that are that
stinking most of them. That's that's thinking like the Bulls
are playoff team now because Kobe White decided, oh, I'm
going to be the best player in the NBA now.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
Well, as soon as you got rid of Zach Levine
changed things up. Suddenly you're looking at Kobe White and
and Josh Giddey have been playing at a different level
going on a couple of weeks. Here, uh again the
pace of play. He's back to back Eastern Conference Player
of the Week. Congratulations to Kevin Durant on the other
side for the Suns. But just the idea that coming
down the stretch with Lebron the way they've operated the last.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
Couple of games.
Speaker 3 (27:38):
Now, does lend a little more credence that he might
have been banged up a little bit?
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Do you want to? Do you want to? Does it?
Or did he go down here?
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Just what did?
Speaker 1 (27:46):
What did I think? Because he took the six games off?
What did I tell you? So he'sraculously he's miraculously going
to be healthy. When the Lakers finished that six games
and eight games run? And what happened? I said, he's
coming back Saturday against the ball two weeks before. I said,
Saturday against the balls. When they get out of that
second day, he doesn't want to play in any of
those games. He'll be back that day. When did he
come back? Hey, Saturday against the balls. But that's it's it.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
As I said that, I had the sarcasm dripping from
my mouth, which means that the end of that sentence
might have been problematic. But they've gone out and they've
gotten pasted back to back games like that's the thing.
He took the two weeks off, went and did a
bunch of personal stuff, went and watched his son win
the state title.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
Great, but all all of that to say.
Speaker 3 (28:27):
He came back and this is defensively, the rotations are
absolutely inept. The bench has been a disaster and Lucas
still shooting forty one percent.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
They're fine everything and trust everything is fine. I hear
everything is fine.
Speaker 3 (28:43):
Will JJ Redic hate you more now that you're on
his band when you're not done to other coaches that
have come on undefeated or number one in the country
or satan John's like that bandwagon that is, you know,
sinking like a.
Speaker 1 (28:58):
The Hindenburg a team to Patinos man. No, but JJ
Reddick hates because now he really wants to get on
the guys because they had bad efforts to last couple
of games. And here I am saying everything's okay. S
worry about it. So got hey, JJ. I was listening
to the guy that you listen to on the radio
that you can't stand, and he said, everything is fine
with us, So we're good. I'm gonna go to In
and Out Burger. I'll see you tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
Everything's good.
Speaker 1 (29:24):
Oh boy? Oh man u x at how about a
fresca x at Swollen Dome? Jason Smith Mike Harmon live
from the tire rack dot Com studios time out to

Speaker 5 (29:44):
I like plumbers and guys who forget.
Speaker 1 (29:52):
House. He kicked him out. What are you doing here, plumber?
Get out? I'm here to fix the sick.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
No.
Speaker 1 (29:57):
Wait, I should have never done that. In the nineteen
sixty as Steve wife says, what did you do? You
kicked the play.
Speaker 3 (30:03):
Yeah, he was the fourteenth ranked point guard at sixty eight.
Speaker 1 (30:07):
He was a fourteenth ranked plumber that I called at
Kemming and I can't believe you kicked him out.
Speaker 5 (30:11):
I have always been on record as loving plumbers and firemen.
Phoenix Suns took the late NBA game game winning jumper
with two seconds left for Devin Booker one eight one
oh six over Milwaukee player of the week in the West,

the final at Sacramento. Tatum left late third quarter with
a sprained ankle.
Speaker 1 (30:53):
He remained in.
Speaker 5 (30:54):
Only to shoot the free throw on the flagrant foul.
Demantis Sabonis kind of undercut Tatum to have a free
landing area. Then Tatum went to the locker room and
did not return to the game. He scored twenty five
points in twenty six minutes. Oddly, it was Sabonis returning
for the Kings tonight after missing three games with a
sprained ankle. By the way, the Celtics Jalen Brown did
(31:15):
start tonight, nine points for him after a bruce knee.
New Orleans Zion Williamson was out again this evening with
a bruce lower back, but the Pelicans beat Philadelphia won
twelve ninety nine. Philly has lost five in a row.

miss a fifth straight game on Tuesday with a sore hamstring,
and Cleveland's Donovan Mitchell will be out tomorrow with a
groin injury. Texas has a new men's basketball coach, is
Sean Miller from Xavier. Potentially big injury in women's hoops
(32:19):
tonight at usc Juju Watkins was carried off the court
with an apparent right knee injury and was taken to
a hospital for MRI and examination. The final score over
Mississippi State was ninety six fifty nine. No further word
from sc on the Watkins injury. Early in this game,
Maryland came back for a double overtime win against Alabama

the update on the health of Dodger shortstop Mookie Betts
last night. It was not good. He was He was
ill before they ever took the trip to Japan. He
was ill in Arizona and was out again tonight for
an exhibition due to the illness and at EFTs, but
(33:01):
he did have a full workout today, was finally able
to keep some solid food down and is scheduled to
play the exhibition finale Tuesday against the Angels. For the record,
the Halo's got three runs bottom of the ninth against
a minor league reliever and beat the Dodgers five to four.
Speaker 1 (33:15):

Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. See I just scooted across the floor right now,
you did?
Speaker 4 (33:52):
You?
Speaker 1 (33:53):
Kind of Chris collins Worth it right over here. Update
from USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb does not have any
information right now on Juju Watkins. She left the arena
to get an MRI after a really difficult looking knee
injury early in their win over Mississippi State. Lindsay Gottlieb said,
(34:14):
as soon as we have information, they'll let us know.
But it's not a night that she will forget anytime soon,
the way the team pulled together to win after Juju
Watkins getting injured again. We'll have more in this story
coming up in a little bit, but there is a
lot of big college basketball to get to celebrating the
(34:36):
Sweet sixteen. So let's celebrate the Sweet sixteen the best
nay we know? How how do we do that? We
play the greatest radio game known to mankind. True TV
or Not TV often imitated, never duplicated ever, because we're
(34:56):
watching True TV this week, more games on True TV
this coming week. We still play the game. Yeah, I
got Jason. I give you a show you and your
hate put it out there now. One practical Jokers, big
big trouble Hude trouble Man. It'll be less practical jokers
and more east bounding down on True TV. Part of
the show anymore, and he's still in trouble. That netspit
(35:18):
was pretty funny though. So here's how the game is played.
I give you a show that could be on this
crazy channel that you only watch one or two weeks
a year. Is it a real show or made up
by me playing myself? Mike Harmon, Steve Desager, justin Frostburg,
Mary Mack Are you ready to go? Yeah? All right,
here we go. True TV or Not TV. Angels in
(35:40):
the love Field Angels in the love Field a docuseries

Hey baby, I'm gonna say no love Field.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
And maybe yeah Field, it's like below deck. Yeah, I'll
say no. No, Okay, what do you say, Frostburg? I said,
didn't Trump fire them?
Speaker 2 (36:16):
No?
Speaker 1 (36:16):
I don't know. Well, well, we got the show. Now
when there's a reality show, he's a reality show, star show.
We got a reality show Angels in the love Field.
Maybe positions no longer there. It's not a show. Maybe
they haven't gotten to it yet. Yeah, I still love
the things. We haven't got to it yet, all right,
Mary Mack. Angels in the love Field? Is that a show?
So no, it doesn't sound real. Have you seen True TV?
(36:37):
Have have you seen True TV? And need to say,
like Matthew Perry, have you seen True TV? Angels in
the love Field is not show? Yes, sir. Psycho Insurance
Psycho Insurance not Geico Insurance. Psycho Insurance a hidden camera
(37:02):
show where unsuspecting clients bring their cars into a dealership
to get fixed. However, their cars are swapped out with
identical models and return to them in much worse shape
than the ones they dropped. Off Psycho Insurance too.
Speaker 3 (37:15):
Much legal eased to be hidden camera show.
Speaker 1 (37:18):
Unsuspecting clients bring their cars into a dealership to get fixed.
Cars are swapped out with identical models and return to
them in much worse shape than the ones they brought
in Psycho Insurance.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
I like it in theory until it happened in Los Angeles,
and then I felt the ill effects of the downgrade
of car by somebody else.
Speaker 1 (37:37):
Now, so I'm gonna say, no, Okay, Well, there's no
lizard involved in this, I will tell you that much. No,
But it's a good.
Speaker 5 (37:41):
Theory, and it's like candy camera of the old days.
I'll say no, all right, Frosberg.
Speaker 4 (37:46):
It's like what the lapd impound lot did to the
dude's car in The Big Lebowski. No, surprisingly, I think
that might be a show.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
You're saying, yeah, all right, Mary Mack. I think so
I could give like pimp My Ride, but like on
a like messed up version of Okay, it's a messed
up version. That's how they they pitch it. It's a
messed up version of pim My Ride. Psycho Insurance is
not a show on True Team.
Speaker 5 (38:20):
It's getting hard out here for.
Speaker 1 (38:23):
Beyond thunder half Dome. Beyond thunder half Dome a reality

Yosebodi's famous half dome during aggressive web. I'm going to
find biv whack.
Speaker 4 (38:59):
I don't think you can bid whack at Yosemite Dome.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Okay, No, there's not. Like all the people that work
in Yosemite got fired, right, So I mean, you know
you can get in there and do that, but you
can't be doing that. No, that's not a show.
Speaker 5 (39:10):
To Seger, I'll say no because I think the thunderdome reference.
I think the canceling of mel Ginson just goes this far.
There won't even be a show with half the title.
Speaker 1 (39:20):
Okay, even even though Tina Turner was big in that,
and it was the Tina Turner's got around. All right, Mary,
what do you got beyond thunder half Dome? I don't know.
I'm gonna just guess. Yeah, you're gonna say yes, okay,
YEA beyond thunder half Dome is not a true TV show.
(39:43):
I love the term BIV BIV, biv wac is pretty good.
I would never do that things in my life. I
would never do biv whac. Oh you just put like

Speaker 5 (40:02):
Military episode of The Dick Van Dyke Show, Laura Petrie
was referred to as biv whac baby in the introduction.
Speaker 1 (40:09):
Yeah how about that? And what was the was a
meaning behind that?
Speaker 5 (40:12):
Was just that she was entertaining the troops on stage.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Okay, oh, biv whack baby, all right, all right, I'm
still not doing it. A whole other thing, not doing it,
not doing it. No, no, no, no, not doing it.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
No.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
I like that term, though, I'm in it is. Biv
wlack is pretty good. BIV Whack's pretty cool. It sounds
cool something I never do. Exit out about a Fresco
exit swollen dome. Yeah, we'll play true TV or not
TV aga, but coming up next we get back into
the biggest story. Then I keep it right here. Jason
and Mike, you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
