You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:28):

tirack dot com. I'll help you get there an unmatched selection, fast,

Tirack dot com the way tire buying should be. So
(00:49):
you have the poll in the field, we put it
out there. You have a choice two big openings in sport,
well actually in sports and in entertainment the last couple
of days, what opening do you take? Do you take
the hosting Wheel of Fortune opening or the co hosting
undisputed Right now, eighty three point eight percent would host
(01:14):
Wheel of Fortune compared to sixteen point two percent co
hosting Undisputed.
Speaker 3 (01:18):
Now I can verify, I mean, we can have Frostburg
and Monsey and Alex verified I was not voting to
tip the scales.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
Back towards Undisputed. I don't even know that we can
prove that. I don't know that we can prove that.
You may have bots all set up again. You work
on stuff like this all day, with buying cards and
grading stuff and computers and bots and social media. You
probably just have it all set to go, and yeah,
hey I needed to go vote something.
Speaker 2 (01:43):
Well.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
I mean, Foxy bitting is a very popular thing, there's
no question about it.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
I think you did it like you did. I'd still
go to Undisputed Twitter at how about a Fresco or
Fox Sports Radio on Twitter to vote. We'll keep this
poll up for a long time.
Speaker 3 (01:58):
It'll never happen, so we just manufacturer or debate show.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Here's why I'm with, Here's why I'm on I'm on
Wheel of Fortune. It's because it's as I get older,
less work and more free time appeals to me. I
think they taped the entire year's worth a Wheel of
Fortune in about eight days, so it's.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
Maybe about eight weeks in the year or something like. Legitimately,
I think it's like eight to ten weeks.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Yeah, you get you know, the money is good what
we'll say, obviously the money is good enough for both
for both gigs. Right, Okay, So it's less stress because
it's not you not spelling words and failing at it.
You can make fun of the people at spell well,
and you have producers in your ear that are going
to help.
Speaker 3 (02:35):
I mean, not that you need it or I would
need it, given our witty banter and ability to come
up with one liners at the drop of the proverbial hat. However,
you know they're they're at your disposal, trying to feed
your material.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
And it's not me giving my opinion, which I'd love
to do now for you know, the better part of
almost two decades. But I can make up for it
bye by saying, oh, here it is. Oh you didn't
get it now the phrase is mets suck. Sorry, you
should have got that. You had the et s and
the s you saw.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
I meant that you'd start writing more. I have to
create some board games.
Speaker 1 (03:09):
Yeah, there's lots of things I could. I could revolution try.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
To start showing up as an extra on shows. Shot
in Los Angeles. I would maybe you're a little across
the border to Canada in your downtime and maybe try
to get on some sets there. Easier, Easier, I could
do whatever I want to the rest of my year, right,
I could still have fun and do it Mason and
not have.
Speaker 4 (03:28):
To realize that we all a fortune. The guy works
like thirty days a year, right, Yeah, that's what as
you were talking about, A very short number of days.
That's great, man, long days, it's great. I mean, but
think about the catering that you'd have every day.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
It's a half long days, it's a half Just think
about this now, Like, how how short a half hour
is on TELEVI used to be well half hour show?
Speaker 3 (03:48):
No show's raf Wow, I mean it's twenty twenty two
minutes of activity.
Speaker 1 (03:53):
How long is that? Even that it's a lot of
grab ass? How long is an episode of Ted last
of that comedy? It's an hour and seven minutes. It's
like it's a feature film. We get to so No,
it's it's easy. If I do five shows in a day,
do twenty five shows in a week, what do I
gotta get to two hundred shows for a year? Probably
about you about two hundred. Yeah, okay, so if I
do five, if I do twenty five shows in a week,
one hundred shows in a month, it's it's working. You're
(04:16):
working about if anyone working around the clock. Yeah, if
I'm working Monday through Friday, I'm working how many times?
Speaker 3 (04:23):
So with the time that because you got to reset
audiences whatever? How many times in a day like that?
Would you have to shave your head?
Speaker 1 (04:32):
Oh no, no, no, no, I probably every every couple of days,
every couple of days, yeah, yeah, yeah, And it's not
like I would shave in between. Uh, you know, like
Fenley was shaving at work last night when he was out.
I'm still bothered by that. I'm not a violation. The
dude walked out while I was watching the Mets and
the Yankees before the show, and he's shaving with an
electric razor. Hey wants to score Jay's come out. I
(04:54):
know we moved studios. Is he living in that other studio?
What do you doing? Did you under the desk? You're
shaving with the electric at least electric razor and not
like not like he had, you know, you know, water
and a shaving cream and doing no lobo at least
he had that. What's going on all right? Yeah? His
hobo shaving, I'm sleeping in the studio, like and I.
Speaker 3 (05:15):
Got my I mean he's usually in the kind of
white T shirt, bit disheveled.
Speaker 1 (05:20):
Yeah. No, I didn't know anybody used electric razors anymore.
I really didn't. I really didn't think an electric no, no, no,
this is this is one of a different product. Yeah, no,
not a sponsor. This is one of those straight like
Narolko deals where it's just that the little little pads
on me. Just I don't think people did that anymore.
I didn't think people you found one electric razors and
(05:41):
and straight cigarettes. I didn't think people did that anymore,
certainly not Fendley's aid, you don't say no, no, Yeah,
look at everybody vapes now, and does a lot of
cigarettes really bucks a pack like this, like the straight
Marlboro Red pack. I mean, I don't see it. I
don't see people. Everybody's vaping then.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
People are vaping.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah, do you buy it? Do you buy him?
Speaker 5 (06:04):
Just?
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Can you can you still get the patches and stuff?
Can he get the jackets? Because I might just buy
a couple of carts for old times sake, here so
I could just redeem the points.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
Here's when I knew vaping was was gonna take off.
It's actually this show. So you know, Alex Tyser, you've
been on the show for what now about a year
and a half. They've been him just over two years.
Just over here, Okay, so before you were on the show,
Lauren Gardner, who you knew, Yes, he used to vape
in the studio while we were doing the show. That
was so stressful, and that wasn't tobacco. He would vape
(06:34):
while he was working. And I knew, I said, all
this vaping's taken over. People could do this inside whenever
they want to it. Yeah, no one's gonna go to
Suner rights anymore, forget it.
Speaker 3 (06:43):
Yeah, seeing and since the statute of limitations cursing him
out again are gone, I was vehemently against it and
not a.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
Fan at all.
Speaker 3 (06:53):
Others hadn't even worse habits on air. So I mean, hey,
you know, Broncos it's a fair point.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
So right now again Wheel of Fortune leading undisputed eighty
three percent, voting right eighty three point eight percent right
now in favor of Wheel. Maybe I'm just dominating.
Speaker 3 (07:14):
I always like the harder route because I'll feel the
sense of achieving.
Speaker 1 (07:17):
It's definitely hard, it's definitely harder. You're definitely choosing the
harder route going that way. But if I could get
I mean just a year or two, I don't need
a long run. I don't know. Do you make it? Man?
You might not make it a week. That's tough. I
think that's tough. You know what wake up call is
that I don't sleep. You gotta get up. You gotta
get up like morning to get up for that get
to it. No, forget it, man, After like three days,
(07:38):
you'd be cooked. You'd be cooked, You'd show up, you'd
show up, you you would look like a college basketball
coach at the end of a double overtime game with
the wrinkle, the flock sweat, the tie is sweats.
Speaker 3 (07:51):
What did you have a late night like an espresso bean? No,
I mean I'd have to I'd have to change up
the diet and exercise routine.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
Who's question about I was sacond three days? Three days?
Look at him? That is not true. It looks like
Sean Miller. Am I still doing this show?
Speaker 3 (08:07):
Because if I'm not doing this show, I'm doing that,
then it's a totally different world. Three days, I give
you that, give you man, Come on, that's nothing.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
Three days, three days. It'd be tough. Man. The lights
are hot. Look as someone look on, man, I I'll
take that on in three days.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
Spike all over the studio.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
You know I I honestly you know I would like
to do it. I did it before. I debated Skip
before it did a whole week on it on when
it was on ESPN. This is actually, here's how long
ago it was. It was right before it was Yeah,
it was people were watching. It was right before that.
It went from being part of it was still part
of Cold Pizza, the show they did in the morn
(08:47):
and then they decided, hey, this is the most popular
segment of the show. Let's make it its own show.
And so they made its own show. So they made
First Take and it became a that became its own show.
It was right before where it went to being its
own show where I went and I did it for
I actually did a couple of time, did one against
the two live stews they were on the radio four
long time ago, and then uh and then Skip for
(09:09):
a week and and it was fun. It was a
lot of fun to do it. I mean now, when
I did it, we did like three hits during the show,
so each hit was like five or six minutes. It's
not the whole, you know, the two and a half
hour uh monstrosity that it is now. But it was.
It was fun to do. It was fun to go through.
People wanted to keep there. Everybody wanted to keep what
they were gonna say secret. Yeah, I'm not gonna tell
(09:30):
you what I'm gonna say, so I got it was
it was a fun It was a fun deal to do.
That's all finey good.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
But you've got enough of a history that that playbook's
already written. You know, back when he was a columnist,
I mean him, Marriotti, others. I mean, you could kind
of set your watch by what was gonna be the
column of the day, depending on the day of the week.
Same thing with some of the takes. When you start
getting deep into the archives here, you got a whole
playbook you can study.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
There's lots of there's lots of them, I do so,
I mean, there's no secrets. No, no, you're not gonna
be You're not gonna get a lot of surprises. Might
get a little bit of indignation.
Speaker 3 (10:05):
It might be, you know, faux outrage, but you're not
gonna get a lot of surprises. By the way, we
should add that as a like video podcast that we
fall outrage. Yeah, full outrage, like once once a week,
we just take three things and we just scream at
each other. I can't believe no nuance takes no you know,
great radio like we've been doing here for the decade.
We take it up a notch. We do dressing suits,
(10:29):
gona wear suits now. I got a lot of ties
that need work now.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
I'm not gonna wear suits even out of work. Even
own a suit smith, Yes, I do, and I'd never
like to wear it. Never liked when I used to
have to drown. It looks like seth rollins. It was
awful NFL when I had to work. When I was
working at NFL Network and we were doing Fantasy Live,
the show that I host it's still on and I
did the first three years of it. It was we
(10:53):
got to a point where we decided should we try
to not wear ties just to make it a different
a differentiation of a show from other things. We don't
wear ties. I was like, yeah, let's not, we're ties.
I was like, no, no, let's wear ties. We look better,
we look cool, you know, we look better at ties.
I'm like fantasy, it doesn't matter. That's that's what I
had to see football backwards, baseball and short let's let's
(11:14):
put ties on. And I hated it. I was the
first guy changed every we're done taping, good, tie is off,
shirt is done. I'm backing a T shirt and sweatpants
in like five minutes. Couldn't stay hated. That's the worst part.
Hated getting So if I do, if I do Wheel
of Fortune, I have to wear a suit, but only
for two months. If I wear an disputed I gotta
dress up, you know, every day. I don't know that
(11:35):
I could pull off the Shannon Sharp, the really cool
sweaters that he would wear and all. I don't know
that I could pull out. I have to wear a
suit every day.
Speaker 3 (11:41):
Like everybody's favorite uncle coming in though I mean he
vacated that that title. Yeah, so he's not on anymore. No,
but I it goes on to a new venue to
be the worst, to be that guy that slides in.
Speaker 1 (11:52):
And and things. You and I are comfortable because we
get to do a shows in our in our comfy clothes. Suddenly,
now you got to make it the baby in a
suit and tie. It's a lot.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
I mean I could do it, and then I can
feel all regal and stuff.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
I think it's dumb. No, you don't get gone. I
still think it's day three college basketball catch day three.
Sean Miller, you'd be Sean Miller percent. Do I have
the scandals that follow me? Yeah? Sean or or no,
you know'd be better John Cheney because you'd lose your
voice as well, because John Cheney was the best. He
would have he would have his sleeves rolled up, his
tie would be gone by the midway part of the
(12:24):
first half. He might have two buttons undone on his shirt.
Actually yeah, yeah, you know that's true. Yeah, there might
be a little bit of that.
Speaker 6 (12:31):
Now.
Speaker 3 (12:31):
I would love to take that challenge on though, I
really would. I do love the fact that when you
talk to folks about your job and they get excited
for a minutes, like so what do you do?
Speaker 1 (12:40):
Where do you go? And you know, where do you
got to work out of?
Speaker 3 (12:42):
And and you know, like for radio, what do you
have to wear? I mean, well it's like, well we
do have a camera, but at this point, we've not
been ordered to wear collar and shirts. It's like, it's
like I don't have to wear pants, and usually that
gets at least one or two go WHOA.
Speaker 1 (12:58):
Like, where did I just take your Like the Antonio
Brown press conference today where for his indoor football team,
where he wasn't wearing a shirt talking to the media.
I'm not gonna wear a shirt. I'm a big deal
a lot of shirt. On Twitter, it out about a
fresco Mike get swallowing down the Jason Smith Show with
my best friend Mike Harmon. Dodgers have just put four
on the board. They are batting in the bottom of
(13:18):
the six. They now lead the White Sox four to
Joe Kelly, wearing his Mariachi jacket, has just given up
the four runs for the White.
Speaker 3 (13:26):
Multiple relievers here after Clevenger left with the Discomfort.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Coming up next. I guess we've been trying to book
for the last twenty four hours. But finally I believe
this person is sobered up enough to come on. Maybe not,
though I don't know how he was.
Speaker 3 (13:40):
I just think he is enjoying. Okay, Stevid, he's revelryas.
Speaker 1 (13:44):
I'm not that drunk what he's talking about. I said,
I said, guess non employee, I'm ready. No, no, I said,
I would have said, employee. Well, this is my take
to be no, no, no, no, no.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
This is a different way way away. This is a
different show, though other shows do that. Okay, this is
what's coming up next. But you have an audition for
Wheel of Fortune. Yeah, oh really, yeah, okay, we got
to do that at some point. Okay, all right, your audition.
How you would audition for Wheel of Fortune? Absolutely, okay,
all right, and to be fair, you'd audition for Undisputed. Okay,
(14:12):
we'll do that too, because I can't wait to see
you audition for Undisputed.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
That's gonna be fun about sports doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (14:18):
That's what makes it.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
That's what makes them snakes him compelling. He's a wildcard.
It makes him so hard. I can't can't figure it out.
Speaker 3 (14:24):
Now, that would be great watching the brain scramble.
Speaker 1 (14:27):
I don't know that's coming up next right here, I
now seriously very special guests coming up, but waiting to
talk to him for the last day or so. Keep
it right here, Jason and Mike, this is Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (14:37):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (14:48):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. I'm anna, asks man, surely from the
tire rag dot com studios. Right now, Dodgers on top
of the White Sox four to two? Is the White
Sox in the top of the seventh? Yeah, it was
a great night for the White Sox right up until
last inning, right up until Joe Kelly came in.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
Mike car Levinger gets hurt, couple of relievers and then
Joe Kelly. As I was reminded by Frostburg, he does
his best work at Dodger Stadium.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
He always helps the Dodgers, no matter what, always helps them,
always helps them. So salty, so salty.
Speaker 3 (15:20):
I'm like, all right, they chased, they got a lead
with solo home runs.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
It done. That was Kershaw day. That just didn't work
out for you. Just sorry, but look it's Yin and
Yang because you know, my team won tonight and it
was probably it saved their season for at least today.
So you know, now we had one day. We're both
happy with our baseball team. It throws off the balance
of the universe seemingly.
Speaker 3 (15:44):
No, it's just like I win Wheel of Fortune versus undisputed.
Speaker 1 (15:49):
Sure, or like Ricky Bobby? How could I win? If
you win? I can't wait?
Speaker 3 (15:53):
What would be the name of our debate show if
you and I did a debate show?
Speaker 1 (15:57):
If we did a debate show, it would be he
mets you, you shut up? You know what? I think
that's probably taken. I gotta think there's a show somewhere
called you Shut Up. I gotta think so. I gotta
that would be kind of funny. Well, joining us now
on the hotline of man, been looking forward to talking
to for the last twenty four hours our insider in
(16:20):
Vegas who could be drinking from the Stanley Cup as
space check him out. Hosts of the Bet the Board podcast,
analyst on CBS Sports. He sounds sexy. Vegas insider Todd Furman, Todd,
what's happening? Man?
Speaker 6 (16:35):
Not a whole heck of a lot, gentlemen. Unfortunately I
did not get the invite from the Golden Knights brass
to go out for the postgame festivities last night, but
did have a chance to take in all the live
action with my lovely wife and see Vegas make a
little bit of history on the NHL side.
Speaker 1 (16:49):
Yeah, I mean, you've been waiting your whole life for
that Stanley Cup in Vegas.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
Six long years Smith, So you know exactly the kind
of trials, tribulations and pain that we've been forced to
endure to wait for this to happen. It's nothing compared
to what you Jets fans and Mets fans have to
go through every single season.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Oh no, no, not at all. Because last night my
point was you didn't have any players five and a
half years ago. We've been playing since nineteen sixty two
with first round draft picks everywhere, everywhere we were going,
and still we can't win a championship and you guys
had nothing five years ago, and here you are winning
the ultimate and sport A.
Speaker 6 (17:19):
Director flection of organizational ineptitude is all I can say.
Came to the Tri State area and the way they've
tried to go about building franchises that just can't get
over the hump.
Speaker 1 (17:28):
All right, So let me ask you this, because we
talked about this last night, that I didn't know how
the Stanley Cup was going to resonate in Vegas, like
was it the biggest story or was it like story
number eight? Because you know, Carrie Underwood was in concert
and there Britney Spears is in college, like Tom Brady
hit him drone? Yeah, Like where did that rank? Last night?
Like we're people talking about when people on the strip
(17:50):
running around with their shirts off.
Speaker 6 (17:51):
I mean it didn't command headlines like when you and
harm came out here for Super Bowl and we're staying
at the win. I mean that was a once in
a lifetime event that really flipped the entire city script
on its head. But it was indeed headline news. I mean,
you had all the newscasters out there, and it put
things in perspective in the day and age where we
are in the digital era. You couldn't find a newspaper
anywhere in Las Vegas with the Golden Knights on there
(18:14):
to try and put it in the collection of sports memorabilia.
Most of the gas stations, that casinos were all sold
out by about six am this morning.
Speaker 3 (18:21):
We did have a torque line outside the studio.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
While we did, I don't think there's a tork line
outside em Vegas that oh yeah, oh yeah, yeah. A
lot of people was trying to work. No, you're probably right.
There probably is an entire casino that just has tworking.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
So you're in the arena, it starts to get a
little sloppy end of the second period. How crazy was
it or were you just kind of counting minutes at
that point?
Speaker 6 (18:43):
I mean I kind of described it to people. You know,
there was obviously that nervous energy. Early. Vegas has to
withstand the first ten minute barrage from Florida. Aiden Hill
makes a couple of big saves and then they're able
to capitalize shorthanded, mark Stone scoring the goal there that
gave everybody a collective sigh of relief. Vegas takes the
two nothing into the intermission. They give up the screen
goal to start the second period, and suddenly people are
(19:04):
starting beginning to look around. Then Vegas finds another gear.
And I equated the third period to the Tour de France.
It's basically the final stage. It was the parade now
the Champs Elyse, and there was no nervous energy whatsoever.
It was one of those things you just wanted the
game to be over, and the Knights decided they had
to go out and break a franchise record for scoring
in a game with nine goals, but also wanted to
(19:25):
be generous to give Florida parting gift giving up two
goals in the third period as well.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
And now you're officially getting the a's or at least
as close to official as can be here. You approved
everything in the state of Nevada, and I just have
to get the governor to sign off, and you're getting
me as how soon do you turn them around? Todd?
Speaker 6 (19:40):
You know what, it's a question of what the Fisher
family wants to do and if they want to make
a commitment to actually putting a good product on the field.
Because if they think it's as simple as feel the dreams,
if they build it, and they will come. And you
put a team out there that's going to win sixty
games every year, people in Las Vegas won't give a
damn about watching that team on a night in, night out. Basis,
this is a city, for better or worse, that loves
(20:00):
to gravitate towards a winner. And when you talk about
the entertainment capital out here, if you're finding another better
shiny object out there, that's where people are going to
gravitate towards So if the A's don't win right from
day one, it's going to be a very difficult sell.
When it's one hundred and ten degrees when you're walking
into the stadium for Getaway Day on a Wednesday in August.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
Well, look at the Vegas is finally getting a baseball
team for the first time ever major League baseball team,
and Todd's all, haughty, Hey, if you think you'd come
in here and just have some kind of any kind
of crazy ass team, you've got to really show us
something we are will okay, I.
Speaker 6 (20:32):
Mean that's the bottom line. You have to go out
there and produce. I mean, you just don't show up
and expect people to try and open their wallets and
come to games for what looks like a glorified bubble
on the corner of Flats Vegas Boulevard. But it'll be
interesting to see exactly what it looks like when the
A's do make the move out here. The one thing
that the Golden Knights did differently than even the Raiders,
the Aces and a lot of the other teams. I mean,
(20:53):
this was a long process and the city of Las
Vegas never believe they were going to get a professional
sports team in the four major sport. It was built
from the ground floor by Bill Foley. It's not like
we adopted someone else's team that was looking to try
and relocate to a new market. And you know, for
better or worse, and probably for worse. You know, one
of the more galvanizing events around the Golden Knights occurred
(21:13):
with that unfortunate shooting that occurred at the music festival.
The Knights were very active in the community, the organized fundraisers,
blood drives and everything else. And out of the ashes
of a tragic event, you know, rose a very successful
story and what the Golden Knights franchises meant to.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
The city organizational excellence. We talked about the dispersal draft
and all of that built there in Todd Furman with
us our guests live from Las Vegas, still right in
that high of the Golden Knights victory yesterday to secure
Lord Stanley's Cup. Mike Harman, Jason Smith with you here
live from the tyraq dot com studios of Fox Sports Radio.
(21:50):
You can find Todd on Twitter at Todd Furman or
at bet the Board Pod. That's the Bet the Board podcast.
The growing run of channels and and outlets that you
have there, Todd, So we have the queued up the
final call from the radio side for the Golden Knights.
We wanted to see if we could get your opinion
(22:12):
and evaluation of the level of enthusiasm.
Speaker 5 (22:16):
Finals scoring Game five, the Vegas Golden Knights nine, the
Florida Panthers three. They defeat Florida in five games, so win.
Speaker 1 (22:27):
The Stanley Cup.
Speaker 6 (22:31):
I mean that pretty much sounds how Smith introduces me
every Friday night. I come on the show with you guys, so.
Speaker 5 (22:37):
Long.
Speaker 6 (22:38):
In all honesty, though, Dan Duba does a tremendous job.
He's been the voice of the Golden Knights on radio
since day one. And the nice part about that is
there is a little bit of a family connection there.
My brother in law actually does a lot of stats
for the Golden Knights. So if you listen to the
tail end of the production telecast there he gets a
shout out night and night out. And the first thing
that I made sure to ask him is I want
to know if he's able to get a Stanley cupping.
(22:59):
So he may need at input, maye at input from Frost,
but let's not sugarcoated, guys. Frost isn't getting a Super
Bowl ring from the Chargers anytimes?
Speaker 1 (23:07):
Wow? Who last appearance on the show? That was good?
Speaker 3 (23:12):
Wow, you got anything you want to throw at me,
Todd other than my White Sox bullpen suck.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
He's met introduce.
Speaker 6 (23:20):
I mean, you know we're only about, you know, eighty
five days away from harms Alma mater, going three and
nine figuring out exactly why they gave a lifetime extension
of Pat Fitzgerald in a newly revamped Big Ten. But
that's a different thay.
Speaker 3 (23:31):
They're gonna get relegated within ten years. So instead over
unders three and a half wins, Todd, So you're taking me.
Speaker 6 (23:37):
Under He Yeah, I was gonna say, I don't think
it's a team that's gonna flirt with boligibility. Darnell Autry
ain't walking through that door anytime soon, gentlemen.
Speaker 1 (23:44):
Todd Furman, Vegas Insider with us here the Jason Smiths
Er with Mike Carmon. All right, so let's get to
the NBA Finals. We just watched the Nuggets win. We
already see the odds for next year. The Nuggets are
at the top, as has expected some of the teams,
though I'm kind of surprising I'm surprised the Phoenix Suns
are as high as I'm surprised the Cavaliers are as
high as they am surprised the Knicks are as low
(24:05):
as they are. When you saw the odds come out
for next year, anything stand out to you, Hey, this
team's a little too high, a little too low? What
was it?
Speaker 6 (24:12):
Well, one of the things when you're looking at future odds,
you know, three hundred and sixty plus days in advanced
books are going to keep teams that have a little
bit of cat flexibility significantly shorter. There's no reason to
create unnecessary liability with a team like the Phoenix Suns,
who of course wave Chris Paul and are going to
have the opportunity to maybe bring in another superstar to
get them over the hump. You look at the Milwaukee
Bucks and try and figure out the trajectory of that
(24:32):
franchise and how things are going to go. But one
team for me that's a little bit surprisingly short is
actually the Golden State Warriors at eleven to one. I mean,
I don't think anything we saw from this postseason run,
if you remove Draymond Green from the equation, leads me
to believe that They're going to be significantly better next year.
I'd have a chance to make a deeper run in
the Western Conference playoffs. It's always funny, though, guys, because
(24:53):
going in to this postseason, obviously everyone talked about how
the Nuggets were potentially vulnerable as a number one seed
in the West. They hadn't proven any and now people
want to talk about how many championships they're going to
win in a row given the salary cap flexibility they have.
There one team that I would be looking for a
little bit further down the odds board, and if you
shop around, you can find them upwards of one hundred
to one. I get the feeling that the Oklahoma City
(25:14):
Thunder may look to try and package some of their
draft assets, put them together and maybe bring in a
proven superstar if they can lure to Oklahoma City. And
knowing how talented that team was this year, despite being inexperienced,
kind of arriving a year head of schedule, that maybe
they have a chance to get into the playoff picture
and make a little bit of noise in the West.
And at a price at one hundred to one, maybe
worth a small flyer.
Speaker 3 (25:34):
Todd last one, just we've got it here locally La
Country Club, the US Open. We've had all the chaos
regarding the merger and now Monahan and his health becoming
a concern. Any angles you see the way this course
may play out.
Speaker 6 (25:52):
You know what I think is fascinating is the general
betting public always remembers what they saw last and it's
very different than how professional better is typically a broach
a lot of these higher profile markets. So you've seen
Brooks Koepka draw a ton of money from the casual
fans in the outright market at prices right around ten
or eleven to one, ignoring the fact that he went
off closer to thirty at Augusta in that twenty five
(26:13):
to one range when he won the Pgaight Championship not
no more than a few weeks ago. But what's interesting
about Brooks is he's taking professional money against him in
the head to head matchups from players like Rory McElroy
and John Rohm. There So it's always interesting to see
that dichotomy. The one consensus from an outright standpoint is
actually a California kid, Patrick Canley drawing a ton of
(26:33):
attention his number right in that seventeen eighteen to one range,
and if what we see on the course is anything
like La Traffic, nobody's going to be on Cantley's case
for playing slow and taking his sweet time to finish
eighteen holes every day from now through Sunday.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
All right, toy, let's bring it. I wanted this is
not an expertise thing. This is just an opinion. What
you would rather have big conversation we're having here on
the show tonight is two big, high profile openings the
last twenty four hours. If I said, would you rather
which would you pick? If you could, I could make you,
Todd Furman, would you rather host Wheel of Fortune or
(27:08):
co host? Undisputed?
Speaker 6 (27:11):
I mean this is a no brainer here, guys. One
job comes with no stress. The other job comes with
knowing that you have to wake up at the crack
of dawn and no matter what you say, you're always
going to be wrong. So of course I want to
take over for a Wheel of Fortune. I'll feel like
I'm the smartest man in the room. The question becomes, though, guys,
and we actually discussed this, do you flip the script
and bring on a female host to take Pat's ajax spot?
(27:32):
And you bring on a male to end up turning
over each of the letters. Try and really change the
dynamic and bring Wheel of Fortune into the twenty first century.
Speaker 3 (27:40):
See, you've been linking up a little bit of a
mind meld with our monse Milano's here.
Speaker 1 (27:44):
Todd, Who do you think of all of us on
the show tonight? Me, Harmon, Moncey, Frostburg, Tyshirt, Who do
you think is the only one that picked Undisputed?
Speaker 6 (27:52):
It's got to be Frost. He loves to argue and
loves to be wrong every single day of the week.
So I'm making Frost the odds on favorite of that market.
Speaker 1 (27:58):
Now, Unfortunately, no Frost. Frostburg went with Wheel of Fortune.
Whit Yeah, Harmon took Undisputed.
Speaker 6 (28:05):
You know what, Harmon, we might be able to make
that happen. Let me make a call to some of
the TV executives that don't return my text messages from
the Fox soct and we'll see if we can get
you an interview there.
Speaker 3 (28:12):
I can get everybody to respond when we talk about
wrestling and other things.
Speaker 6 (28:17):
Hey, if you make WWE the focal point and you
can get Skip Bayless talking about that on Monday morning
after the Cowboys lose by four touchdowns. You've definitely done
something truly special in the Fox ecosystem.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
Water on tonight on Roll, Let's get it on. He's
on Twitter at Todd Furman, That is at Todd Furman.
Check him out. Todd has always buddy, appreciate your congrats
on the cup Man. We'll talk to you hey.
Speaker 6 (28:37):
Always a pleasure, gentlemen, talk to you soon.
Speaker 1 (28:38):
Thanks, brother, be good.
Speaker 2 (28:40):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 3 (28:47):
You know, just to let you know, ty Shirt, this
song affects my mood. I saw you go into the
studio and ask him something.
Speaker 1 (28:54):
No talking to Frostburg. Well, I when I talk to Tyser,
you just picking out songs like this, But I mean,
he's groovey look at it. And then I hear the
first couple of bars of this song, and I go, uh,
doesn't this get you checked up? No?
Speaker 3 (29:08):
It does like you're ready to go out and two
great things say great things.
Speaker 1 (29:13):
At least in ten minutes, we're gonna get tight Shirt's audition.
Oh fantastic. Undisputed how he would do Jason Smith Show
with Mike Carmen live from thetirec dot Com studios, where
now a day later, everything is fine with Stefan Diggs
in the Buffalo Bills. Everything's cool, it's awesome. It was
(29:38):
yesterday that Stefan Diggs didn't show up to the first
day of mini camps, but yet he was actually there
and Sean McDermott said, it's too bad he's not here.
Wait a minute, Wait a minute, wait a minute. What
so he was there to take a physical but did
not go to the actual practice. Sean McDermott said he's
very concerned. He was very concerned about Stefan Diggs not
(29:59):
being there. H Allen gave a very cryptic comment saying,
I could be doing things better. It's a communications thing.
What the hell is going on? Was to Fon Diggs. Well,
ste Fawn Diggs today was back in practice.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Yeah he was.
Speaker 1 (30:14):
Yeah, And here's Sean McDermott who opened up a little
bit more detail about it today than he did a
day ago.
Speaker 7 (30:20):
I think there's a lot of things out there that
aren't accurate. Let me be clear, Steph did everything that
we that he was asked to do. He was here
Monday and executed his.
Speaker 1 (30:31):
Physical wait, stop, stop, Steph Curry's taking a physical with
the Bills Tuesday? Is that what's going on? I didn't
know that, well, but that's big news right there. He's
gonna play football. Well, the era of the of the
Warriors is over, so you may as well go play football.
Speaker 3 (30:43):
Still one of the favorites to win the title, you know.
Speaker 1 (30:45):
I mean, you think you need a field goal? He's
pretty solid from three. Shoot, you're gonna get it. There
you go, All right, let's hear more about uh, Steph Curry.
Speaker 7 (30:53):
Here Monday, and executed his physical on time. Steph reported
yesterday Tuesday, and I reported for meetings, at which time
we had a good conversation, great communication, and we got
to a point yesterday where I just we just felt
like we all needed a break and some space, and
(31:15):
so I gave Steph permission to get some space and
and and uh and head out and uh, and then
picked up those conversations after practice. So let me make
it clear, it was it was not Steph leading unexcused.
He was excused by me. And so those conversations have
(31:35):
got us to a to what I think and believe
is a great spot.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Yeah, that's called making up an answer as I go
along by mcdery.
Speaker 3 (31:43):
But this answer was more in depth and detailed and
thought out and planned, like he had the team of
people that are going to help you with a White
House press briefing.
Speaker 1 (31:52):
That is, this is more intricate than that. This is
such a load of crap, because yesterday it was I'm
very concerned. I want to talk about the players that
are here. You don't say it unless you're concerned and
there's something going on. I mean, is that part of it? No?
But now today it's Oh, I gave him permission. It
was not a big deal. We took the day off.
(32:14):
Wait wait, wait, yesterday it was pretty bad because you
were concerned and you wouldn't go into any detail on.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
It and Josh Allen's cursing and talking about problems. Non,
this isn't Bola. This is an absolute load of craw.
Speaker 1 (32:25):
Oh, they canceled practice for tomorrow bydy. I don't want
to tell he did individual.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Drills today, did digs, not participating in team drills. Then
we get this, which is a big song and dance.
Give him the old razzle dazzle. He might as well
wear the sparkly suit like he was Richard gear dancing around.
Speaker 1 (32:43):
Are we gonna have to talk about this if we
have practice tomorrow? Yeah? Probably the media is gonna no
practice tomorrow. Practice.
Speaker 3 (32:48):
We got what we needed today canceling, We saw what
we needed. All the other guys stepped up in our
team exercises, and now we're good.
Speaker 1 (32:55):
I mean Clay can hit a shot anymore that I
don't want that, at least not gonna get Jordan Poole. Uh.
Just think about what the reaction was offense. That's well, well,
I want to be someone's gonna want to hit him.
You want to fight him during practice? I don't want
that to happen.
Speaker 3 (33:12):
Well, but you might get a top cornerback like Sauce
Gardener thrown out of an important game.
Speaker 1 (33:16):
This is a day ago. It was no details because
I'm concerned. Now it's oh everything was fine. No, everything
we began to speak about this. I will tell you
right now everything is not fine. Not fine. Now does
this means to fun Diggs is gonna get traded? Probably not.
(33:37):
This means he's gonna play this year in Buffalo? Sure.
Speaker 3 (33:40):
What's fun though, is he's been rumored in trade talks
for a couple of months before any of this this
year things, sir, it's a lot.
Speaker 1 (33:47):
It's a lot of money, and and and Diggs is
somebody who if he wanted to be traded, if was gone,
it would be something that this would have come up
before now. But suddenly here you are the first day
in mini camp and now I'm not here. Uh, this
is not nearly over. And if you think this is
suddenly Stefan Diggs is happy and everything is fine, and
(34:08):
I'm gonna go and I'm gonna go up, you know,
go to the wall for the Buffalo bills. Let's put
a pit. Just trust me on this. Stuff like this
doesn't go away. And when you see, hey, wait a minute,
why is Stefon Diggs not having a normal Stefon Diggs
type here? And a great first half of the year
last year, then he fell off a little bit in
the second half, but he has a bad year beginning
this year. You're gonna wonder is he really putting all
(34:30):
the effort in how pissed off is he at the organization?
Because this is not something that was just solved. Everybody
loves each other and we're moving on. It was bad
yesterday and now all of a sudden it's great. No,
I feel insulted that Sean mcdermomy's trying to tell us
I gave him permission. Why wouldn't you say that yesterday?
Then Hey, it's fine. I gave Steph permission to be away.
It's all good, he'll be back tomorrow. No, he's trying.
(34:52):
What do I say that gives me the most amount
of plausible deniability that I don't sound like an absolute
idiot that I went, I'm going one hundred percent or
any degrees opposite of what I said yesterday.
Speaker 3 (35:03):
That's what he did today. Well, you just sound dumb, right,
say we talked about it. If you want to get
to the it's resolved, we had it out, we talked.
Speaker 1 (35:11):
It's resolved. Period.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
You start going into details and everything else, it sounds
like you've concocted a tremendous lie. How many more details
do I need to make this sound really good? To
get this story? What else can I do? What else
can I do? I was at the No. Look, it's
it's for McDermott and company. Now that you've got a
(35:34):
huge question mark that hangs over the rest of your
off season. Did he like the play calling? Was it
a problem? You know, because Josh Allen did play hurt,
so right, you probably changed up a lot of your
play calling, route trees and everything else as the season
went down. He played, so we evaluate by what you see,
(35:55):
But was the frustration there that was built in?
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Still?
Speaker 3 (35:58):
The guy was a huge part of their offense. It's
not like they suddenly went away from him. So it's
yeah McDermott, come on, man, you're better than this. You
think this is over, trust me, it's not. See this
is the Jets fan now grinning God, just wait, yes,
let your hair out.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
It won't matter. Mike Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smiths
with Mike Carmon coming up next. It's time to wave
goodbye to one big time team Fox
