Speaker 3 (00:52):
And wow, you know we got wings tonight getting ready
for the NFL Draft. Thanks buddy, appreciate that you're welcome
those hot wings.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I had one hot wing and I'm suddenly I'm sweating, like,
how is how is work? I can't believe that wings
wings were that hot. Yeah, my mouth is on fire.
I need like one of those Food Network things that
they make where them you drink the milk out of
out of the hat that you wear. I made a
segue in my head. You know when people would go
to baseball games and they wear like the helmet, but

(01:21):
they have the beers and the straws. Like on Food
Network when something is too hot that you have the
same thing. They do that with milk. Okay, except it's milk.

Speaker 3 (01:29):
Interesting realized they'd gone to that level. But I wonder
they want to have some milk around.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
Sure it's warmer as you talk to Yeah, yeah it is.

Speaker 3 (01:37):
Yeah, yeah, I got a hot mouth right now? Hot mouth,
hot mouth, hot mouth. Can you get some hot takes?
Flowing hot mouth?

Speaker 1 (01:45):
Oh? Jason Smith, Wait a minute, that's where But isn't
there a podcast that eats wings hot wings and talks?
But what if I took it to the middle of
you eat a hot wing and then have a hot take.
They don't have that, do they know? Okay? Or a

(02:06):
hot guy like me? I mean, man, I lost forty
pounds on PhD weight loss. Man, but I'm dead sexy now, man,
Like I'm like a pin up guy. I'm like, hey,
he's miss he's mister, he's mister March right there. Look
at that. That's Jason Smith.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
Hey, okay, Syracuse doesn't play in March anymore.

Speaker 1 (02:24):
What are you talking about? Uh? You wanna you want
a quick calendar funny story. He's very funny.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
It's not about me. It's not about me. It's a
quick funny think.

Speaker 1 (02:35):
So, my cousin is a big weight, is a big
he does well what we just say. He does bodybuilding shows.
He's a fireman in New York and and he does
but yes, fitness model. Y's very good. And he goes
to all these competitions, goes to Vegas all the time.
And now he's over forty. He goes is his name
Chuck or Larry? This is my cousin, Jimmy. This is

(02:58):
this is little jim I tell you story, litt Jimmy
lit Little Jimmy, who's now forty three. Little Jimmy is
for me. I still call him Little Jimmy's forty three, right,
So he does these he does these fitness minds, and
he's won a bunch of competitions everything else, right, And
everybody in the fire department knows this, so you know,
and he had and and he's in the yearly fireman calendar.

(03:18):
That they sell in New York State. Right, they have
all the all the hot firemen, and he's in the calendar, right,
like no shirt on, he's got his helmet and you
know the hose wrapped around as all right, Right, that I
was right. So about five years ago he went into
uh they had a they had a call for a fire,
and he went in and I think like his mask
wasn't wasn't on all the way and he had it

(03:39):
wasn't a dangerous thing. It was just there was a
lot of smoke and he had to come out, and
so they put him in because he had to come
out of the fire. There's this thing where I think
you have to be It's like one of those things
where when you leave a hospital you have to put
on a wheelchair right leave out. So the rule was
he had to get on a gurney and they had
to take him to be looked at, right, because that
was rule when when you when you're when your your

(04:01):
helmet comes off. So that turns out to be the
picture on the front page of the newspaper in Staten
Island is you know, fire and whatever. Here's firefighter, you know,
being led off and you see the picture of him.
And you know, this is a fireman do all his
friends every day for a month cut out, you know,

(04:21):
took the picture from the front of the newspaper, put
it on his because it happened. It happened in July,
put his put it, put that picture on the front
of his locker and wrote mister July. With that picture,
he would rip it down and they would put a
new one up every day, because like in the calendar
he was like mister November or something, but mister July,
and he would just rip and they put it up

(04:43):
every day for a month. Mister July be taking out.
Did he start kicking ass throughout the firehouse?

Speaker 2 (04:50):
No?

Speaker 3 (04:50):
No, no, I think I mean fortunately you get you
know what forty eight on forty eight off? Wasn't that
the lyrics Joel George Strait song.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Oh yeah, more than that. I mean it's like you
work forty eight now it's yet like four days off.
It's like crazy, you know, different rules. But yeah, but
it's fun because you know, and that's the thing is like,
that's just that's the brotherhood of firefighters, right, and policemen
are the same way to Like he tells me the
story and I go oh my god, he goes, yeah,
but what was I gonna do? Like, that's part of it, right,
It's not like I want to kick that guy's ass.
Who did It's like, that's that's kind of how it goes.

(05:19):
That's why everybody is so close. Man, what's the calendar
flip mister? Was he in a movie? No, I wish
my cousin was in a movie. Sure, it wasn't in
a movie. And Larry Larry dropped the soap. It's not
in chucking.

Speaker 3 (05:33):
Guy, He's not there. That's that's Kevin James little not
little Jimmy. No, no, not little little Jimmy. No, who would
be very upset if I'm calling him little Jimmy.

Speaker 1 (05:43):
On the radio. In fact, Jason in the winter time,
it's very little Jimmy. Go ahead.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
So I just started working out in a new gym today,
and guess who. Somebody said, I looked like it's a
professional male physique model. You look like, okay, lou No, okay,
you know that's kind of disrespectful, is No.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
He was one of the incredible of all times.

Speaker 3 (06:05):
He was the second greatest bodybuilder of the time to
Arnold schwartzen Age.

Speaker 1 (06:09):
Yeah, he was his contemporary. He was when Bill Bixby
turned into the Hulk on TV, turned into Loo Forigno. Yeah,
I got a big deal. You got chick Hern No,
Mike Hearn, Mike Hearn, Oh okay, not chick man. Okay,
so you say you lonod like Mike curn was like,
I have no idea who it is, but thank you,
like you walk by and they go and the butter's
cooling and the chillos chick. I guess I just saw him.

(06:31):
Thank you. I don't know what it meant. Okay, did
you look up Mike Hearn?

Speaker 3 (06:34):
Oh no, okay, a little bit of Mike current you
said with the long hair, Well you got a little
bit of that quasi Ryan gossling hair. He does, so
is the o silent. He also is fifty six years old,
so that's not that's not too good for you. Then
you look that means you look means you a look
a little weathered. Yeah, that's okay. I'll take it being
that old. And I'll take that's old. Need wait, how old?

Speaker 1 (06:57):
How old is your girlfriend? I think she just turned
twenty four? Oh okay, well that's okay. Then bell check here, fine,
thank you. It'd be good. Okay, Rock the creative so
I Rock. Eleven point lead for the Rockets now in
the fourth quarter, the Warriors closing the gap a little bit.
The more Draymond Green talks, the more you know the

(07:18):
Warriors are getting back in this game. You could not
see the score and know by the countenance of Draymond
Green how the Warriors are doing in the game. So again,
they've cut it to eleven again without Jimmy Butler, who
left the game with an injury. We'll bring you an
update as soon as we have it, most likely after
the game. Meanwhile, getting set for the NFL Draft tomorrow night,
I'm gonna continue to bring you our big bold predictions

(07:39):
for tomorrow night. In the draft. Last night, we told
you Cowboys are gonna trade up to the number four
or five pick to get Ashed and genty. It's the
typical and absolute thing that Jerry Jones would do last
hour on the show. Giants and the Browns will both
trade back into the end of the first round to
get quarterbacks. That's where they're gonna go. It still look

(08:00):
quarterback league, and just because you don't take them at
two and three doesn't mean you don't need them. They'll
trade back, and it's not that much to go from
the beginning of the second round into the end of
the first round. They don't want to wait and have
teams leapfrog them for Jaln Milroe, for Quinn Eewers. That's
what's going to happen. For whoever else is left, Whether
Jackson Dart somehow slides inexplicably or Kyle McCord, you will

(08:21):
see them slide up. Right. Jackson Dark's currently seven fifty
to be drafted in the first Yeah, and so also
he's a guy. Maybe he sneaks into the first round,
so they will both move up. I'll give you this
one too, And this one's gonna make you happy, buddy.
This is gonna make me happy. This is gonna that
means you're already damning my team. No, this is gonna
be a running back draft, and you're gonna see a
lot of talented running backs taken in the first three rounds.

(08:42):
It will start tomorrow night when ash and genty comes
off the board. Uh Omarion Hampton, who has been You
have seen so many wild swaths of predictions for him
from hey, maybe he goes at twenty, maybe he goes
end of the first round, maybe beginning of the second round.
Not happening. He is off the board before the fifteenth pick,
because it's when gent comes off, it's we want that

(09:05):
next great running back. He comes off the board before
the fifteenth pick. And I'll tell you the team that's
gonna get him, and you're gonna be happy because it's
gonna be your Chicago Bears who were gonna go get him. Right,
this is the this is the final missing piece of
the offense in Chicago, right, It's the it's the final
missing piece. Right. Your receivers are good enough. Your it's

(09:27):
a Stuart Smalley. Your receivers are good enough. Your tight
ends are good enough. I know you thought you saw
the running back issue last year, but you just quite didn't.
This is what you need the offensive line.

Speaker 3 (09:39):
Last year you heard about DeAndre Swift running back and
forth sideline the sideline instead of forward. But you did
it in free agency this year you went out had
a great if that's the key Swift a jag I
was you signed an offensive lineman every day.

Speaker 1 (09:58):
Look, I've seen him play. He is a three down
running back. He's not gonna catch the ball a lot.
He's not that kind of guy. But this is where, hey,
you have somebody to catch the ball on third down
that we've seen. But he is a three down running
back that's gonna stay on the field. He is terrific.
He is a downhill runner and I know that that. Ah,
do we take him? I know there's that is he
quite that? It doesn't matter. It's a running back draft.

(10:20):
People are gonna want the next one, and the Bears
have a glaring up. What do you want to do?
You want to make sure Caleb Williams is operating at
the highest level he can be. It's the one piece
of the offense you could say, yeah, you're kind of
missing a little bit. Everything else is good enough, but
if you can't run the football, life is miserable. You
know how it goes. Now, you throw Hampton in on
this thing, trust me, he's the guy, and the Bears

(10:40):
get him in the top fifth. All right.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
DeAndre Swift is a jag plus because he does have.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
Third round. Yes, he'll catch the ball on third down.
You can give him a series now and again. Yeah, No,
that's DeAndre Swift.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
The beauty of it with Hampton and look, Rashaun Johnson
probably for the offensive line they had should have gotten
more carries early. But we're not gonna litigate the twenty
twenty four failures of the Bears after you pick them
to do great things. Sure, I told you, okay, but
then I told you they're gonna be go deep in
the Eastern Conference and Doc Rivers gonna be on the
unemployment line.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Yeah, but in like forty as they got relegated to
NBA TV game, I didn't pick the Bucks to go deep.
B I did say that about Doc Rivers, and see
they're going out. It doesn't matter, just saying some tons
of things you touch. Man didn't blow a three one
lead this year? Oh you suckers want to pass a No.
Three one blown lead? Now I'll get swept. That'll teach you.

Speaker 3 (11:37):
Listen, mister Freeze the thing when Hampton is great. That's
a little WoT Grandpa Simpson, I think no, that was sir.

Speaker 1 (11:43):
You have my pair.

Speaker 3 (11:44):
Look it's old man winner, I'm cold and Hilves are
following me. Okay, I was going to the mister Plow commercial. Yeah,
the name that episode of The Simpsons that I just
quoted Grandpa Simpson.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
From I'm Cold and there are Wolves After me. You
even give us the wolves again.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Wolve nicely done Hampton back to back years, showing you
that he's able to be a workhorse. Plus sixty seven
catches over the last two years, so has some ability
to mix things up and change things up. You don't
always have to default to DeAndre Swipp, which is a
nice thing. And you're looking at a guy that piled
up over five hundred and thirty carries the last two seasons,

(12:28):
so durability, and behind an offensive line that should at
the very least be functional with what they've.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Been able to do.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
I assume a very brisk learning curve under Ben Johnson
for Caleb Williams. Yeah, Hampton would be a fantastic pick,
just a curiosity of how deep you're able to trade back.
I like the idea of it is over under right
now at most sportsbook for where he comes off is
position twenty and one half. You would lay one hundred

(13:01):
and fifty five bucks to win one hundred.

Speaker 1 (13:03):
Yeah, no, I'll go under on that. I'll go under
on that easy twenty and a half. No, it's when
Genti comes off the board early. You know how things
everybody panics. We really like this kid he's not gonna
be there in the second round. Where do we go?
We gonna no, we can take another guy later. But
really he's really the second best running back out there.
He spent a lot of time with some teams. He

(13:25):
comes off the board before fifteen. It's not a wide
receiver draft, right, it's not a wide receiver draft. But
the skill position guys are gonna go, and he's gonna
go in the top fifteen. I like that.

Speaker 3 (13:34):
That's good and bold and beats that over under by
a mile. Seen that giving betting advice for Draft night.

Speaker 1 (13:41):

Speaker 6 (15:49):
The next nightday Night.

Golden State one oh six to eighty nine. Looks like,

in headernob Off. All right, So another Bowl prediction we

(16:38):
have here from the NFL drafts. Another big trade. Right,
already gave you the trade last night. Cowboys are gonna
go up into the top five for Ashton gent Right,
you can see that. We put that back out on
Fox Sports Radio Viraly, you can see it there on Twitter.

Speaker 3 (16:50):
Anytime you get the Cowboys in gets people all anngst.

Speaker 1 (16:53):
I will give you another trade that's going to happen.
I'll give you another trade in the top half of
the first round. I will give you this, and it's
going to be it's gonna be disappointment because really the
last few days, everybody's wanted to connect ash and Genty
to the Raiders. Raiders need a running back as Genti. Yeah,
not gonna happen. He'll be off the board before the
Raiders picket six. It will be the Cowboys coming up

(17:15):
to get him or somebody out. That doesn't happen. Somebody's
gonna take Ash and Genty before the Raiders picket six.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Or they realize they have so many other needs that
the running back's not putting them over, which is what
we've talked about with all of these teams, right the
renaissance and the greatness of the running back. Always loved him,
always loved the running game. But what is it all
predicated on having a functional offensive line in front of
the guy. He looks great in a uniform, he looks

(17:43):
great dancing in front of his TV, going my dreams true.

Speaker 1 (17:47):
That's great. It's a great letter to say. You'll you'll
regret it if you don't pick me.

Speaker 3 (17:52):
Jerks, that's all finding good, But you still have to
have everything right and ready before you bring that guy in.

Speaker 1 (18:00):
But you'd think, is you know Pete Carroll's affinity for
running backs. He wants to keep drafting running backs and
play them every year, and they all do the same thing.
They all show great promise and they get hurt. So
you don't want to be a Pete Carroll running back. Boys,
fair it means I'll be really good for like four
and a half weeks, but the rest of them, I'm
gonna be hurt. Because that's what happened to everybody in Seattle,
every single guy they've had. That's how it went. It's

(18:21):
a Curse of Pete Carroll with running backs after Marshawn Lynch. Yeah,
I said, man, it's like I sold my soul to
the devil for Marshawn Lynch. Everybody else in then I
didn't give them the ball. They they get hurt. They
just get hurt.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
That that was the moment, right, the crossroads moment for
you there you sold your soul and.

Speaker 1 (18:39):
All that was great until you call it the bass play.
But the Raiders will trade down from six and moving
up to get into that slot for Ty Warren will
be the Colts. It's the one missing piece of that offense.
They need a tight end. Ty Warren is the best
tight end out there. The Colton's pretty good too, but

(19:01):
it's the guy I thought they and he's tall, but
and he's good hands. But Warren is Warren. I mean,
the guy's a superstar. That's the one thing missing from
that team, from that offense for this year that Daniel
Jones will be very happy to have come in. The
Colts trade up with the Raiders. They take Ty Warren at.

Speaker 3 (19:21):
Bold pick Cotton. Speaking of the draft, let's head to
Vegas right now. Find out what the odds makers are saying.
Less than twenty four hours away.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Come on now. Longtime friend of the show, Vegas Insider
was an odds maker at Caesar's. Check him out now
I'm the Bet the Board podcast. See him on CBS.
It is a guy who was not happy with how
last night's Golden Lights came went. It is Todd Furman. Todd,
what's happening?

Speaker 5 (19:46):
Man?

Speaker 1 (19:46):
How are you?

Speaker 6 (19:47):
I'm doing well tonight, gentlemen, hopefully you boys are as well.

Speaker 1 (19:50):
We're doing what you're doing well? Because there's no hockey game?

Speaker 5 (19:52):
Is that?

Speaker 1 (19:52):
What are you Okay?

Speaker 6 (19:54):
No, I'm still watching hockey right now. So if I
listen to every third word it's coming from the two
of you, you'll understand.

Speaker 3 (19:59):
Completely wide all right.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
So looking at tomorrow's draft, right we see cam Ward
number one kind of a FATA complete. We think Travis
Hunter number two, Abdual Carter number three. Anything weird the
last few hours, the top three in the draft, anybody's
odds shift or big moves somewhere that maybe the top three,
top five might see a big surprise, you know.

Speaker 6 (20:22):
The only one that's really seen some movement that I
think is worth noting is that the fifth overall pick
Ash and genty has gone from right around even money
earlier in the day to now an overwhelming one to
two favorite. Whether it's the Jacksonville Jaguars who select Genty
or somebody else trades into the five spot, I think
it's always interesting to try and assess what a new
general manager could do, and if Jacksonville feels he is

(20:44):
the key piece that somehow gets them back to a
respectable nine to eight given all the holes that they
have on the defensive side of the ball. But for me,
I mean first three picks, as you mentioned, more or
less written in stone. At least at this juncture, barring
a major surprise, Will Campbell has seen his odds go
up since financially as well in that fourth spot, and
I think that's where things start to get interesting. As

(21:04):
the Patriots go in the direction we all anticipate with
Campbell and the Jaguars go a with gent We'll see
what the Raiders do at six before everybody else has
to follow suit.

Speaker 3 (21:13):
From the notes of bold stuff to Todd do the
limits on these selections right if you go to the
betting window shrink as we get closer to the draft
in terms of how much you can put on well.

Speaker 6 (21:25):
Here in about all these draft odds are actually off
the board. They have to be removed twenty four hours
before the start of the draft. So if you look
at some of the other jurisdictions, most of the operators
will take actually bigger bets the closer you get in.
And that's relatively speaking, because the draft is typically a
niche market. There's not a ton of liquidity, and it
has historically been a lost leader for most of the
operators that are out there. It's an event that while

(21:48):
it's grown in popularity in terms of viewership and for
some recreational betters that want to be involved, a lot
of the professional betters that I work with have kind
of shied away from betting the draft, especially one with
the level of unpability that we're anticipating tomorrow. So it's
always an interesting vehicle and a proxy for what may
take place, But in no way, shape or form should
we look at some of the odds and automatically assume

(22:10):
that things are going to go according to suit. As
we remember last year, nobody had Michael Pennix coming off
the board eight and nobody believed that the Raiders Whilch
hake Brock Bauers, who was available right around forty to
one to end up wearing silver and black tod.

Speaker 3 (22:22):
If I said to you, fill in the blank for me,
the number of quarterbacks taken in the first round is
going to be how many? From one through thirty two,
the number of quarterbacks taken is how many?

Speaker 6 (22:33):
So I'm going to take a little bit of a
contrarian angle and I'm going to say one, I think
Campbell is the only quarterback that comes off the board
in the first round. I do think, you know, when
you look at an over under that's sitting at two
and a half, that one is a much more likely
outcome than three. Shador Sanders, of course, has been one
of the more polarizing draft figures coming through this particular cycle,

(22:54):
and we know some of the buzz that has created
been created around Jackson Dark and even Tyler Schuck who's
dealt with a rash of injuries during his college tenure.
So it'll be interesting to see because there all it
takes is one team trading into the back half of
the first round looking to get that extra year of
franchise control over a player. But I think we could
see two of these guys come off the board, you know,
in that thirty three to forty range right at the

(23:16):
top of round two. If teams don't want to get
over zealous and try and draft the quarterbacks that they
may not deem to be the franchise changing talent that
some people think.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Oh chaos theory. I like it all right.

Speaker 3 (23:26):
Let's switch on over to the NBA playoffs and the
fun of excitement there. From where we're sitting, it looks
like a three team raised any noise based on early
returns here in the first round.

Speaker 6 (23:39):
No, not really. I think for the Celtics that you
don't want to pay too much attention to the injury
to Jason Tatum. I really don't anticipate it's going to
be something that lingers and they could probably hold them
out the remainder this year's against the Orlando Matchic can
be just fined. As we said, for multiple weeks, the
Celtics and Calves appear to be on a crash course
for the Eastern Conference Finals, and as far as the
West is concerned, it's Oklahoma City and everybody else. I

(24:01):
think we're all going to be interested to see what
the severity of the potential Jimmy Butler injury may be
for the Warriors, if the Lakers have enough in the
tank to get through a young and plucky Minnesota Timberwolf's side.
But I think it's shocked that we're going to see dominating.
Maybe the team that can come from off the pace
would be the Clippers, where you could make the case
could be up to nothing in their series against the
Nuggets and have been one of the best teams over

(24:23):
the last twenty three to twenty five game stretch.

Speaker 1 (24:25):
All Right, all right, Todd, speaking of the NBA, to
bring this into the NFL Draft, what odds would you
give me if I said, okay, at what at some
point during the NFL Draft tomorrow night, we will audibly
be able to hear fire Nico chants coming from the crowd.

Speaker 6 (24:43):
I mean, look, I don't think the Cowboys, faith Ball
are going to be that angry about the way the
Mavericks season ended. Then they begin to look at the
roster that's currently being constructed on the football field, because
everybody knows the one two combo of Ceedee Lamb and
Javonte Williams are going to be what puts this Cowboys
team over up and leads them to have one of
the league's more explosive triplets from a quarterback, wide receiver

(25:05):
and running back position.

Speaker 1 (25:06):
You know the thing is because we said this last night,
and this is a perfect Jerry Jones thing to do.
Is I like, if I had to give me a
Bowld prediction for the for a first round trade, is
the Cowboys going from twelve to four or five to
get genty Because that's a typical Jerry Jones thing to do,
and it's a big position they need. It's Ezekiel Elliott
Part two. Like, that's that's what Jerry likes to do.

(25:27):
It's what he craves to do with the draft.

Speaker 6 (25:29):
I have no idea what this Cowboys team is going
to do. I mean from a weapon standpoint, you you
makes the case Smith at this they need a ton
of different things, whether it's running backs or additional wide
receiver depth. I mean, there's a reason that they're over
under for regular season wins right now as it sits
on the board is HT nine and a half, and
I'm not quite excoot me seven and a half, and
I'm not quite sure where they can go for eight
wins with a roster that it looks, at least on

(25:50):
paper to be a far cry from some of their
compatriots in the NFC.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
Is there any kind of a long shot option here
in our Stanley Cup playoffs?

Speaker 6 (26:00):
I wouldn't say any long shot. I think we're seeing
the Kings start to assert their level of dominance, you know,
holding serve at the first two games at home. I mean,
their price tag coming into the playoffs about sixteen to
one to win the Cup, and they're performing at an
extremely high level I've been to not offering much in
the way of resistance, but other than that, I mean,
I think it's the usual suspects. Whether you want to
make a case for the Carolina Hurricanes of the Florida

(26:21):
Panthers in the Eastern Conference or out west. You know,
maybe you believe in La Vegas what were the winner
of this Colorado Avalanche Dallas series. But a handful of
teams more than capable of winning the Cup, and I
think it's as wide open a field as we've seen
in recent years.

Speaker 1 (26:34):
Todd. Lastly, who loses at home? First? The La Kings
of the New York Mets. Who loses it all? Come on?
Give it? Give me somebody. I mean, you know, I haven't.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
Looked at the upcoming schedule for the Mets to know
what things look like going forward. But clearly they've established
a little bit of a home field advantage. Who knew
their pitching staff held together by a couple of questionable
arms of perform at such a high level. So credit
to the Mets and the way that they have performed
early in the season. We'll see if this is sustainable
for the bar that Dave set pretty high for themselves

(27:02):
this far.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
He's on X at Todd Furman, that is, at Todd
Furman Bet the Board podcast. Also see him on CBS.
Todd has always buddy appreciated. Enjoy the draft tomorrow night.
We'll talk to you.

Speaker 6 (27:13):
Always a pleasure, gents.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
You guys do the same, Thanks so much, sup, all right?
Always a great visit with Todd Furman. The Jason smithser
with Mike Carmon live from the tire rack dot Com
studios and uh hey, speaking of tire Rack. For over
forty years, tire Rack's been helping customers find the right
tires for how, what and where they drive. Ship fast
and free back by free road hazard protection with convenient

(27:34):
installation options like mobile tire installation. Tire rack dot Com,
which is the way tire buying should be. Now you
look at the draft tomorrow night, Todd's ad one quarterback
in the first round. Boy, that would that is a
gutsy hot take call right now?

Speaker 3 (27:47):
Sure over unders two and a half, right because a
one quarterback, You're thinking, no one's gonna take Shador Sanders.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
He's gonna fall all the way past the Steelers at
twenty one. He's gonna fall past the Giants and Browns
who want to back and tell me if he's not
sitting there at twenty five, the Giants and Browns would
fist fight to try to get a trade in to
try to grab Shador Sanders at twenty five. Of course
they're going to try to do that. They both need it.
In the end, the NFL is still a quarterback league,
and I get that much. Some years are stronger than

(28:16):
others when it comes to quarterbacks, but in the end,
you just don't know. You can still have three Pro
Bowl quarterbacks come out of this. Just because Kyle McCord
or Quinn Ewers or Jalen Milroe is is not hyped
as much Jackson Dart doesn't mean they can't and aren't
going to come out and have great Chris, look at
the guys that have had incredible careers. Lamar Jackson sat
on the draft, on the draft board all the way

(28:36):
through till the end of the first round. Almost Josh
Allen was the fourth quarterback drafted out of his draft.
You could still see it, and it's still a quarterback league.
I think when it's all said and done, four come
off the board. Four come off the board. In the
first round, it's cam Ward, then it's gonna be shedor Sanders,
and then it's the Browns and the Giants training into
the top half, the top half into the back seven

(28:57):
picks of the first round between twenty five and third
two to get their quarterback. I just love that now.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
I mean, it's absolutely blowing my mind, just kind of
thinking about an absolute free freefall, because I want to say,
earlier in the day, you were looking at the over
under for Shador Sanders at eight and a half, right,
with the assumption being it's nine is in play with
the Saints, and then it drifts all the way out
to where it becomes all right, it's obvious he's gonna

(29:25):
end up a member of the Steelers to maybe enough
from you know what, Todd's looking at h and who
he's talking to, and certainly there's a lot of noise
around Shador Sanders. Again, you'd love for these folks, the
anonymous sources and coaches and gms or whatever, to put
your damn name on it at some point, but put.

Speaker 1 (29:46):
Your name name on it.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
Put your name.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
But I get it. The occupational hazard of doing such
exit Albata Fresca, Exit Swollen Dome, the Jason Smiths or
with Mike Carmon live from the tire rack dot Com studios.
Time not to find out what's trending in the wa
I'd rolled a sports from someone who's been called the
Shador Sanders of Fox Sports Radio because cal State Fullerton
retired her microphone last weekend. It's Monty Blagos.

Speaker 2 (30:10):
That'd be great.

Speaker 7 (30:10):
I also would wear the chains that he wears if
I had the money.

Speaker 2 (30:13):
So yeah, I am like Door Sanders.

Speaker 1 (30:15):
I could find replicas, you know I could.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
I would. I would feel faked.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
I would picture you walking with all the change and
you would be like stooped over, like you're almost gonna fall.
Would be too heavy for you.

Speaker 7 (30:28):
Yeah's you get it, you see it, you envision it.

Speaker 3 (30:30):
Yeah, he was thinking about you as mister t right.
There was not saying Monty with a mohawk.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Sure stop not no, no, I never have a hawk.

Speaker 7 (30:41):
Guys, the Rockets, even the series against the Warriors.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Wait wait wait, wait wait wait, would you get a mohawk?

Speaker 7 (30:46):
No?

Speaker 1 (30:47):
If I guaranteed you the Clippers winning the NBA, there's
a whole big market title. You get a mohawk. The
Clippers that win the title, I would think of your
hair would grow back. Oho, you're not a fan. You're
not a fan.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
Took me to get my hair to grow there.

Speaker 1 (31:06):
You're not a fan. You're not a fan.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
That's not a fair question.

Speaker 1 (31:09):
That's an absolutely fair question. You're not a fan.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
I said I would think about it, and you're putting
me on the spot.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
I would think about it, I think about it. You say, yes,
of course.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
I guess I would.

Speaker 1 (31:19):
No, no, no, no, it's too late. You had your
first answer and you said that I think I saw
a real tear start to creep out. That was the
same question you wanted to punch. You wanted to be
NFL teams on your door centators. I don't want I
don't want to take it my punting, so don't.

Speaker 7 (31:34):
Oh my god, I'm sweating with that question, Jason, I'm
sweating over here.

Speaker 2 (31:37):
I didn't even have hot wings and I'm sweating all right.

Speaker 7 (31:40):
The Rockets even the series against the Warriors with the
one to nine to ninety four win in.

Speaker 2 (31:44):
A physical battle.

Speaker 7 (31:46):
Jimmy Butler left in the second quarter after a hard
fall pelvic contusion. Never came back. He's set to undergo
an MRI tomorrow. But this was definitely, definitely the Jalen
Green game. He had thirty eight points, eight threes, which
is a playoff record that he tied for for the
Rockets most threes in a game, also four rebounds and
six assists. Steph Curry and the lost twenty points, five

(32:08):
rebounds and nine assists. The Cavaliers are now up two
to zero in their series after taking down the Heat
one twenty one to one twelve. Cleveland dropped eleven threes
in the second quarter. Donovan Mitchell he came alive at
the end there thirty points, six rebounds, and six assists.

Speaker 2 (32:22):
The Celtics also.

Speaker 7 (32:23):
Lead their series two zero after beating the Magic one
hundred to one oh nine. Jalen Brown thirty six points
and ten rebounds, Boston played without Jason Tatum.

Speaker 2 (32:32):
Because of a wrist injury.

Speaker 7 (32:33):
We'll check in on baseball, all right, Raising Diamondbacks are
at the top of the eleventh inning.

Speaker 2 (32:38):
The Rays just scored, so they're up six to five.
They are in Arizona and they have a man on
third base, have all their outs.

Speaker 7 (32:44):
The A's are beating the Rangers five to two.

Speaker 2 (32:46):
Top of the ninth inning.

Speaker 7 (32:48):
The Giants took down the Brewers four to two, and
the Pirate shout out the Angels three zero. But the
best team in baseball is the Mets, who have won
seven in a row after sweeping the Phillies. Four to
three was the final score. The Stars and the Avalanche
are headed to overtime. They just ended the third period
tied at one apiece, while the Kings are just all
over the Oilers six to two four minutes to go

(33:10):
into third period.

Speaker 2 (33:11):
LA leads that series one zero.

Speaker 7 (33:13):
The Capitals now lead their series two to zero after
beating the Canadians three to one. In the NFL, the
Lions and All Pro safety Kirby Joseph have agreed to
a four year, eighty six million dollar extension, making him
the highest paid safety in the NFL wide receiver Tyler
Lockett signing a one year deal with the Titans for
four million can be worth up to six million. And
Hall of Fame Chicago Bear defensive tackle Steve McMichael passed

(33:34):
away today after years long battle with als.

Speaker 2 (33:37):
He was sixty seven years old.

Speaker 1 (33:38):

Speaker 1 (36:12):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Just like the Oilers terrible uh can't
beat the Kings at home in the playoffs? That noting again,
no uh, giving away of a four goal lead. This time,
the La King's up to zip over the Edmonton Oilers.
They're gonna win it six to two. Oilers drew within

(36:34):
a goal at three to two earlier in the third period,
but Kings go on a run right there, three quick
goals and that is it. Jason, what do you got
if you need me to do your spot for you
in Edmonton this week? I'm all in, Yeah, they're gonna
hate me. They may as well, like you go ahead
here you.

Speaker 3 (36:50):
Yeah, plus nine fifty right now? Stay in link up
odds for the Kings, I don't know that you can
get a what's the record at home?

Speaker 1 (36:58):
Well, if they could play every game at home, I
would like them to win the cup.

Speaker 3 (37:01):
Well, I mean, looking can petition Gary Bettman for that
along the way. But when it got to three to two,
that's the kind of thing like if you can bottle
the energy? Yeah right, you know. Take the old Star
Wars analogy we use. It was a million voices screaming out.

Speaker 1 (37:17):
That was it.

Speaker 3 (37:18):
After that second goes like damn, here we go again.
Exit out out of Fresca, Exit Swallen Dome. For over
forty years, tire Rack's been helping customers find the right

convenient installation options like mobile tire installation. Tire rack dot
Com is the way tire buying should be. Well, here

(37:38):
we are tonight, you.

Speaker 1 (37:39):
Know the night is over in the NBA Playoffs, and
the Rockets beat the Warriors. Warriors playing most of the
game without Jimmy Butler, who left with an injury. As
soon as we hear the latest on him, we'll let
you know all have more on that game coming up
in a few minutes, but earlier tonight, not a lot
of drama. Celtics win without Jason Tatum very easily. The
Cavaliers have a very workman like victory. Both those series

(38:03):
are two games to none, and and look, I know
that these are two game We'll have more on Bloody
porzingis too, but I know it's the first round. And look,
we can't Okay, look the Grizzlies and the heat and
the and the magic. Hey they sound great when they're

(38:24):
the only teams playing in the playing week, But understand, hey,
there's a reason why these teams are at the top
and they're at the bottom. But when you when you
look at what the first round of the playoffs has
been so far, We talked about this a month and
a half ago. The NBA Playoffs is exciting. It's full
of peaks and valleys and fun and buzzer beaters and
and right now there's so much fun going on because

(38:47):
most of the series are toss ups, whether it's the
Lakers and the Tea Wolves, the Knicks and the Pistons,
the Nuggets and the and the Clippers, the Rockets and
the Warriors. But in the end, what have we seen?
The Thunder no difficulty. Boston wins again. No Jason Tatum tonight.
Yes they're at home, but no Tatum. And still it's

(39:08):
not even close, right, And again the Cavaliers just continue
to win games. There is such a difference from the
three of those teams to everybody else and the beginning
of the playoffs that is actually widen. We talked to
this about month and a half ago. I say, listen,
that next tier though, but there's a difference between those
three teams the next tier, which is the Knicks and
the Lakers and the Nuggets, And okay, now there's an

(39:30):
even wider gap between those three teams and everybody else.
And I'm just sitting here saying, Hey, the NBA players
are fun, They're going to be awesome, But is anything
gonna stop us from a Thunder versus either the Calves
or the Celtics NBA Finals. I don't see it. I wish,
I wish, but I don't see any and Lakers, hey
maybe in the Western Conference finals, but boy, the Thunder

(39:52):
or just these three teams are a different level. And
the finals are going to be some form of either
Thunder Celtics or Thunder Cavaliers. That's going to be the
NBA Finals. And I don't see anything else that we
have seen so far that's changed my mind from that
that's going to say no, no, no, watch this team, they
can do this. No, I don't see that happening. That's
what the NBA Finals are going to be. Yeah, hopefully
we get some big runs along the way.

Speaker 3 (40:13):
You wanted just to find some sort of that dangerous
word parody. But you look at the way the Thunder
are rolling through with the depth they've assembled, and they're
trying to build empire, right, they're looking at one of
those potential Dodgers like runs, you got to get the
first one, right, But then you look at the stacks

(40:36):
of young talent plus all the draft picks that are
still in the offing, and right now they're bludgeting teams,
and it's the how much do we really.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
Want to embarrass them?

Speaker 3 (40:46):
At least of what it seems and Memphis is you know,
they're wounded, right John Morant, for all of his issues
of celebrations, he's also now playing with a bit of
an injury that maybe he's just trying to battle through
to his own detriment at this point.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
But the old college try. But we look at Cleveland again. Depth.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
You've got guys that you know, big time contributors. You
look at a tie Jerome stepping up or making the
trade to bring in DeAndre Hunter. They've got great depth Celtics.
I'm a little nervous with though, if the Tatum the
injury was legit, right, if we're talking about a real
wrist injury, Okay, I don't know how much depth they've
really got on the bench.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
Yeah right, I mean where the bloody head or not
is going to be able to carry him just like
he did last year. But it's the kid.

Speaker 3 (41:36):
You get him through another two months again, right, I mean,
because that was the not going into last season.

Speaker 1 (41:43):
All right, you got it once? Can we do it again?
Let's see. Yeah, Look, injuries obviously could play with a
lot of this, all right, if something happens to a
big star, and so far knock Wood, it's been you know,
normally in every playoff that starts by this time, by
the time you get to four or five days in,
there's four or five guys with this guy's Outwait, Gianness
is out. Wait, wait, this guy's out. Now we're playing press.

(42:03):
You're luck. So far it's just been Tatum who's been
the one. But injuries are going to be a thing.
But now you can't account for them. But if health is,
if the teams are what they look at right now,
I mean I don't see anybody. I don't see anybody
that can stop these NBA Finals from happening. I don't know.

Speaker 3 (42:17):
They just need to keep putting out those polls like
on Halliburton to say how he's the most overrated guy
and hated because he really seems to want to play
basketball when you doubt him.

Speaker 1 (42:28):
And yeah that's true. Yeah, yeah, well yeah that Rivers.

Speaker 3 (42:32):
I think every every game you need to do something
where you could do something where Rick Carlisle can get
very affronted by. I can't believe this. Look at these
calls and are take offense. Small market teams aren't getting calls, yes,
like the Knicks got calls for the last decade comings
Milwaukee we got more

Speaker 1 (42:49):
