Now come on now, not now, but in a few minutes.
Speaker 1 (00:48):
Because your selfish baskets tweeted like twelve times in the
last hour, Like he goes months without saying anything about
basketball and now.
Speaker 3 (00:57):
Suddle Now I'm gonna tweet light crowd.
Speaker 1 (01:00):
On a heater or he's oh yeah, yeah, yeah, He's
like the Halliburton of of tweeters.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
I'm on a heater. Uh so, Magic Johnson seventeen.
Speaker 4 (01:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
We will celebrate the thunder moving on to the NBA
Finals with an extra special edition of the Matter Johnson
Twitter game.
Speaker 5 (01:17):
Because you also got to get all these tweets out
because it's almost time for him to go back on
his super line or whatever that he does for a
couple of months in it.
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yeah, but yeah, all you got now, But then you're
gonna have the tweets tomorrow depending on what happens with
the Knicks and the Pacers. The Pacers win, he's gonna
congratulate them, and Halliburton and Carlisle and Larry Bird and
you know, and McHale and Parish and John Halliburton, Yeah sure,
and John Havlicek and he's gonna have.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
What stole the ball? It's over? DJ lays it in.
Speaker 1 (01:47):
Uh So we'll have that coming up in a bit,
which is gonna be fun, great, great, great version last out.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
It's kind of like.
Speaker 1 (01:57):
When I remember when Who Wants to Be a Millionaire
was popular in the early he oughts, and it was
so popular that ABC just said, wait a minute, what
if we put this thing on every night? It's a
game show. We can record like four of them in
a day. Regis is fine, he can still do this. So,
like Who Wants to Be a Millionaire was so hot,
it was on like four nights away. Yeah, it was
like Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, We're gonna Who Wants to
(02:18):
be a Millionaire?
Speaker 5 (02:19):
But it's always that dirty little Hollywood seeker, right of
how how these shows get taped?
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Yeah they work for six or eight weeks. They work
a lot.
Speaker 1 (02:28):
Yeah oh yeah yeah. Then there are no hour days
that you're done for the year. Yeah, you're in club
mess later.
Speaker 3 (02:32):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (02:33):
But I mean but this was where hey, who Wants
Biller's pretty good? They had it on and then they
had a second night a week and they're like, we're
putting it on four nights, Like, okay, gonna watch Who
Wants to Be a Millionaire?
Speaker 3 (02:41):
Ratings bonanza.
Speaker 5 (02:42):
All these advertisers want in and sponsors, yeah, come on in.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
We went from one host and read just to like
seven others.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Oh yeah yeah when uh he had Meredith the year
yeah oh yeah yeah during the day, like it would
I remember, like my my TV watching would be like
millionaire millionaire Melrose Place millionaire Millionaires, Like that was my
olthough this is back in the Aarts when you didn't
have that whole big national then, like I couldn't see
(03:11):
the Mets every day like I can now. Like there
was they didn't have I didn't, dude, we have we're
twelve games over. Forget the same records, so we have
the same record and we beat you two out of
three last week.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
White Sox announcers didn't see his home run coming.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
Hey, the Mets have been pretty consistent winning two year.
We've been pretty consistent, winning two out of three games
this year, the White Sox have been consistent, winning one
out of three games. Just to remember this, that's how
the series went. So okay, how did Meet Loaf characterize it?
And two out of three ain't bad?
Speaker 3 (03:40):
It ain't bad, it ain't great. We went two out
of three. I'm pretty happy the rest of the way.
Speaker 1 (03:45):
White Sox booth had no expectations. Same records, and we
beat you out of three last week.
Speaker 3 (03:52):
I'll see you.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
I'll see you in LA next week. We'll see in
LA next week. How many can Tenner Scott pitch every game?
Can he pitch every game?
Speaker 2 (03:58):
Pull up?
Speaker 3 (03:59):
I want Tenner Scott to pitch every game? Can you
every night? We figured out whether we're going to this
game or not yet?
Speaker 6 (04:05):
Games?
Speaker 3 (04:06):
Yeah, the day game on Thursdays.
Speaker 4 (04:10):
We're gonna see that l game.
Speaker 3 (04:11):
Yes, Oh, wow.
Speaker 7 (04:12):
No.
Speaker 3 (04:13):
Legitimately though, I mean, let's let's we got.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
To what they're not going to lose on Thursday.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
We we have the no lose guarantee on Thursday.
Speaker 5 (04:22):
I don't know the Rockies are not doing that's sure
they got they if they win, here's a bunch of
free nuggets.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, No, it's a wing stop is doing
the free boneless wings right, chicken nuts.
Speaker 7 (04:35):
Right.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
It's like in Denver wing stops doing a thing where
if the Rockies win, like they give away some kind.
Speaker 3 (04:40):
Of free fall.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
I say it was five five boneless right for every
time the Rocks and you have to order with some purchase.
Speaker 1 (04:47):
Well, look at like this. There's got's like twenty days
in the next couple of months. It's going to be
pretty good. You can get free wings on. I'd love
to see the supply chain manager. How hard is that
going to be to come on?
Speaker 4 (04:58):
Man?
Speaker 3 (04:58):
Once a week? Maybe? I mean I'm doing the forecasting
at our wins. Maybe maybe once a week.
Speaker 5 (05:03):
It's okay, don't we really not not gonna have to
change up too much in our supply chain, but hey.
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Change it up.
Speaker 1 (05:10):
Let's do this so the thunder win tonight and Look,
the game was never in doubt. The Thunder got up
big in the first quarter and clearly the.
Speaker 2 (05:19):
T Wolves.
Speaker 1 (05:21):
Knew this was it and they faced little resistance the
rest of the way and the Thunder win. Now, we
spent a lot of time the last couple nights talking
about Anthony Edwards. Right, we'll have more on it because
this is this is going to be more, much more
about SGA than it is about Anthony Edwards. So the
last couple nights, look and Edwards, who has been pushed
is the face of the league for the last year plus.
(05:42):
Oh look how good he is. You know, the guy's
athletic and when he plays teams that are a little
bit older, hey, guess what he does really well. But
here he was against the Thunder. And why did I
pick the Thunder? I said it many times the last
few nights. I picked the Thunder because I know SGA
was going to give you more consistent superstar performances than Edwards,
who dissip Here is a couple of times a playoff
(06:03):
SGA tonight another huge night for Oklahoma City as they
win going away to get to the NBA Finals. And
you look at what he did throughout this series and
every night was a near triple double for Shake Gildes Alexander.
You have rewarded with the MVP during the series here,
(06:23):
which is awesome, right hey, You know we can celebrate
you and what you're able to do here. But you
look at his games. You know they win four out
of five, and in those games he's thirty one to
nine and five, thirty eight, eight and three, forty ten
and nine, thirty four, eight and seven tonight, right, forget
about Ann Edwards. You want to know who the face
of the league should be, it's Shake Gildes Alexander because
(06:45):
he's got everything you want and who should be the
face league? He checks every single box. He is popular,
he is exciting, He has a great reputation. Fans love him,
His teammates love him. They're with him in every interview.
They stand by him, they say glowing things about him.
When you see him doing interviews, he gives you good stuff.
He thinks about the answers and tells you there's nothing
(07:06):
he doesn't do. And he's twenty six years old and
he's as sending and as great as Nicola Jokic is.
He's more exciting right now?
Speaker 3 (07:15):
Is he?
Speaker 1 (07:15):
A human highlight film like Michael Jordan was. No, not really,
but still you see he has games kind of like
Michael Jordan did. But you know, not every Jordan highlight
was or every Jordan bucket was some kind of reverse
windmill dunk or a three.
Speaker 3 (07:29):
From the logo. But that's kind of SGA's game. He
gives you those. Hey, here's a mid range pull up
when they need one. Oh, here's a three. Here's a
big assist coming off. He's such a complete player, and
he's twenty six and you're looking you're searching for something
if you're looking for somebody else other than him, who
can be the face of the league. Right he's the
(07:50):
newly minted MVP. He's going to the NBA Finals, They're
going to win. He's doing it in the small market.
Speaker 1 (07:55):
So hey, I love SGA because it's not like I
got to watch a Nick win or a Laker win.
And you have the built in animosity that other fan
bases have for bigger markets, every single box you want
to check for face the league, SGA's got and I
hope this is his moment and this is the guy
we talk about for face of the league more than
we talk about all Anthony Edwards. No, he's not Michael
j He's not even close, not even close. But he's
(08:17):
a really good players, a great player, not even close
to Michael Jordan. What Gilgess Alexander does, people are going
to start gaining more of a an appreciation for. But
seeing him and knowing him and seeing his journey and
what he does. Yeah, he's the guy that's the face
of the league in the NBA.
Speaker 5 (08:34):
Yeah, when we look at the the Edwards side of it,
you know, you reference the everybody wanted him to be
Jordan and all of that.
Speaker 3 (08:41):
Some similarities.
Speaker 5 (08:43):
Jordan never disappeared in games and it was passive as
we've seen and we've talked about with Edwards the last
couple of weeks really because you've seen it rear its
head in a couple of series. But it's the idea
of the explosiveness the highlight reel play is they get
to the rack and do something miraculous, which is great
(09:04):
for highlight shows, which is great for x great for
clips and whatever else. What he's got to do now
is the evolution of what Jordan became. Right, I could
back you down on the low post and do the
turnaround I can take.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
You in the mid range, or I can take you
to the outside.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
And doesn't mean he doesn't chuck three point shots, but
one to seven tonight in a game where you needed
him and a number of wide open looks that didn't fall,
controlling a game, et cetera. And that's what SGA does
right today, only four file attempts fall free throw attempts. Right,
didn't have to be the merchant because they came out
(09:40):
and they blew them out.
Speaker 3 (09:41):
But in the timberwolves quit, so it's easy to get
to the hoop well.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
But also you know you're looking at Yeah, you didn't
have the big contested shots, but finishes with a near
triple double. Again the quiet something we've talked about. Thirty
four points, you just can pencil it in. Right, he's
not gonna know show on you. The fourteen point game
was an all around disaster. Earlier in the round where
(10:06):
they were done right, that was the Saturday Night forty
two point burial. Just shove that one, burn the film,
whatever you're gonna do with it. But all of the
other boxes are there, you know, ex clipper, So you
could say he was in the big, big market adjacent
See what I did to the pokers there, but he
(10:27):
goes to Oka, see and the thing that helps him is,
now you've got a squad that maybe can buck the
trend at the NBA scene where we've had parody winners
every year.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
But they've now got an.
Speaker 5 (10:40):
Organization assuming they take care of business with four more wins.
And I think we both agree, whoever walks through, maybe
they get one. Maybe they can steal a second if
it's the Pacers, maybe wishing, wanting, hoping, But all of
that to say, you've got an organization that should be
here for the long haul, barring some something out of
left field. Got your core signed up, all young to
(11:04):
your point, like he's a year and a half older
out of than a lot of these guys that.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Are coming out of college.
Speaker 5 (11:09):
Yeah this year, right, you got your Cooper flags on
one end of the spectrum.
Speaker 3 (11:12):
Then you got the.
Speaker 5 (11:13):
Last of the the COVID years and COVID runs where
guys are coming out like we saw with the NFL
Draft where they're twenty three, twenty four to twenty five.
Speaker 3 (11:22):
Shake Gildess, Alexander. We've watched him grow.
Speaker 5 (11:24):
Now he's a thirty point game score, and there's a reputation,
and for the Thunder, I think the love of what
the organization is built from basketball people will help push
it a bit. For the general public, it takes a
little bit of doing right. MVP award is now you
check that box, but you're always looking for those steps
(11:46):
in growth, just like we used to with teams, right,
you always had that someone standing in the way. Jordan
had the pistons and all of those kind of things
that for SGA, it's there because it's such a fractured environment.
Lebron's on his way out, polarizing as he is, which
means there's certain folks that don't want to leave that
mantle on him, even if it's still his steph older
(12:09):
guy as well beloved and still probably your face for
another year or two.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
But then it becomes all right, who's next? Not Duran.
Speaker 5 (12:18):
It's not hard like all of those guys are aging out.
So when you look to the young guys, yeah, Edwards
was a natural pick, running to the Western Conference finals
a year ago before being vested by Luca. But then
you get into some of the xenophobic stuff that gets
into this argument too, unfortunately, is where it goes. But SGA,
(12:38):
he's Canadian. So he's close enough, I think, well, and
you talk about, hey, can he sustain the face lead?
Because you want to win, you want to keep playing. Well,
you got to keep playing big national games. And yeah,
you got chet Holmgrin and Jayalen Williams still in their
rookie contracts another year or two, right, you sign Hartenstein, right,
and you figured out the other ancillary pieces. You know,
(12:59):
Loud is an All NBA defensive player. And look, Alex
Caruso is a guy beloved by everybody. Every fan base
will say he's a key to winning a championship. Like,
you have everything you need for for probably I would
say another.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
Three year window. A three year window. You got this
year and maybe two or three more. Right before you
start making decisions. Okay, well we can, we can extend
Chat and give him the money, but what do we
do for Williams or you know, however you wanted to
figure it out. You figure you got a two to
three year window here with what's going on before. Okay,
there's gonna be overhaul and there's gonna be a turnover
the roster because certain guys are gonna get.
Speaker 3 (13:34):
Too expensive and they're gonna want to move on.
Speaker 1 (13:35):
And you can't afford to pay Caruso this money when
somebody else is gonna say, no, we want you to
be our seventh guy. And here's a bunch of money.
So you know he's in a place, he has everything
in place for him to be the face of the
league what should be. But like, look at all the
other teams that would be challengers. All of them have
giant question marks. Right the Celtics. People were trying to
break them up before they won their title. And now
(13:56):
Tatum's hurt. Yeah, so when he's gonna play the end
of next.
Speaker 5 (14:01):
Yme Nick's giant question mark, which we've talked about a lot.
We will again tomorrow in what might be a very
interesting four.
Speaker 3 (14:10):
Hours with Jason. Oh boy.
Speaker 1 (14:11):
Yeah, we had the next funeral last night. Now we
might have the calling hours tomorrow. You know, we had
the funeral.
Speaker 5 (14:17):
Now of the calling out and I start writing a
speech like the thunder broadcast.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Exit up out of Fresca, exit slolling down The Jason
Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon coming up next. Yes,
we'll have an extra special edition of the Magic Johnson
Twitter Game, plus my idea for a new NBA rule
coming off of tonight that I think everybody would be
on board with. That's next Jasonbody, Fox Sports Radio. From

Speaker 1 (15:47):
Nineteen ninety nine. Next haven't been to the finals since
I had a whole thing going nineteen ninetynine. Last time
nixt oneon if I know you're ruined the tight shirt,
I gotta play. I was gonna say, Alex Caruso, can
you gotta play? Nicholas k He's actually eighteen.
Speaker 5 (16:05):
Yeah, that's what is essentially what you just called t shirt.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon.
Uh have the Magic john'son Twitter game coming up in
a few minutes. But I have an idea, and I think,
first of all, I want to say this to two
big things here. Number one, please Nicks don't show up
tomorrow night like the Tea Wools showed up tonight. They
showed up, Like listen, the game's on the schedule, so
we have to play it right.
Speaker 3 (16:33):
It's home tomorrow. Be gritty, be gutty, one last time,
one more? Did you really just want to say gritty
and gutty, gritty get.
Speaker 1 (16:42):
Like I'm talking about Like I'm Dan Patrick, I'm talking
about scotty styles, gritty gutty, scotty styles, Uh, just show
up one more time, right, and now I do have
an ulterior motive for it, but one more time, make
it three to two. See what happens after that. But
but let's see, because you know they as much as
they want to win, the Pacers are going to be okay,
if it's not going our way, We're not going to
overextend ourselves. We're gonna go back and win in game six.
(17:04):
So come out big, play big right away, and just
give them one more game.
Speaker 3 (17:12):
GBT to do one one last time parody for the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (17:16):
Unless and the best thing would be if that happens,
then the Knicks would get eliminated on a Saturday. So
by the time we get back on the air Monday,
it's gone. That story's gone, and we're on to other
things where it's gone. So let's do that.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
It's gone.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
We'll still be.
Speaker 3 (17:30):
Four days away from the finals. Gone, you're gonna wear it?
Are we gonna do all sorts of fantasy rankings? I mean, like,
come on, we will only four days away the finals.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Further away than that July fourth, I think July fifth
starts the end of the game we get back. Yeah,
free agency actually begins and team sign new players, then
the final starts.
Speaker 3 (17:49):
You know what really help this coming week?
Speaker 1 (17:53):
The draft. Oh oh, that's why I'm sorry. So we
have free agency and the draft and then the final.
Speaker 5 (17:59):
We can we just have like a week of scrimmages
for the would be drafted something skills competitions.
Speaker 1 (18:07):
Hey, the thunder get to put Conka uple on their
team this year because they just drafted.
Speaker 3 (18:11):
We could play in the finals.
Speaker 5 (18:12):
Here we're having a wacky doctors game operation tournament.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
So Knicks please show up tomorrow, just please please show
up tomorrow. Give us one good Evan, please, just one
more time, just one more make shallow May happy one
last time. Win one game at home this series. Just
win one game at home the series. Just win one.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
That's all.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
I'm asking, Just one for the gift. I'm not asking
for a lot. Second thing is this now because the
Knicks score going home, it's a little bit different. But
I'm all for an NBA rule that says if a
team gets up three to zero or three to one
in a series and they're going home for the clincher,
they don't need to play that game.
Speaker 3 (18:50):
It's over.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Like teams can clinch it by going up three zero
or three to one if their next game is a
home game, because that team going on the road down
three zip, three to one is done. They're not even
packing overn'd close. Hey, We're just gonna show up and
I'm gonna go to the go to the plane back
in my in my uh, in my game, in my
game outfit. I don't I don't need my uniform is
going back. I don't need anything else, right, Like, you
(19:13):
don't show up. Teams don't go on the road and
gut it out to win just to stay alive. They don't.
They show up like the t Wolves. Now three two okay,
three two is still closed. You don't know how it
got to three two, but three to one or three
zip going home, don't need to play the game. Don't
waste my time. Don't waste that, mister hand if it's
your time, and isn't it our time, Like, don't waste
(19:34):
my time, don't waste fans times. We could have some
sort of event for people that have tickets to the game.
It could be a big.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
Party, okay, all right, make it a big like.
Speaker 1 (19:43):
Like a school carnival where there's face painting and water
balloons and all kinds of stuff?
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Have that going on? Drone show? Ye a drone show?
Sure have all that?
Speaker 6 (19:54):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (19:54):
According to that's good face painting.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Yeah, who are you, Peter Chris? Who do you want
to be? I want to be on I'll be elsa
good Okay, there you go?
Speaker 3 (20:05):
Who are you? Animal? Who's he hawk? Who's that guy? Acts?
Who's that a smash?
Speaker 2 (20:13):
Why?
Speaker 6 (20:14):
Eh?
Speaker 3 (20:15):
Road Warrior wannabes? All right?
Speaker 5 (20:17):
Two hundred and eighty three instances, According to the CBS
article of a team falling behind three to one in
the best of seven series, those teams have gone on
to win just four point four percent of the time.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
Right, but how many? How many of those teams won?
Where they had to go on the road next? Seme,
you gotta find that man? Where's the great researcher Sarah
Langs that do Seger talks about all the time?
Speaker 3 (20:37):
Where's that? Where's that? I'm not air talking to you,
Sarah Langs is not here in my back. AI should
be able to give you.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
Where's Ai? Sarah Lanes?
Speaker 7 (20:45):
You know?
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Hey, you want you want you want to You guys
want a crazy thing about Ai? You want a crazy
thing about Ai? Going in like like no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
Intelligence is you know obviously when you think about all
the stuff with AI going on and everybody's where he's
going to take away jobs and everything else. And I
understand that, but I read something yesterday where I think
(21:07):
we may actually have the power over AI and we
could win a war. It doesn't have to be cyber
a cyber net taking over, a sky net taking over
and uh and all of a sudden, we're fighting robots
in about twenty five years.
Speaker 3 (21:18):
Like, it doesn't have to be that to be that.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Because after I went to see Mission Impossible, there was
a big thing on I think it was a big
Reddit thread that then went that then went h went
viral where a guy was talking about, you know, ving Rams,
who was in all the Mission Impossible movies. And this
guy puts out a blog post and he says, you know,
I don't know why why was ving Rams not in
Mission Impossible three? I don't know why he was in
all the other ones? I don't understand. And and he
(21:42):
looked and he went on AI and said why wasn't
ving Rams and Mission Impossible three? And and AI had
the screenshot and everything, and it said, oh, some of
the reasons could be a scheduling conflict with another movie.
Speaker 3 (21:53):
It could be a money dispute.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
All of these things, like oh, okay, And then the
guy said, so then I went back and watched Mission
Impossible three, and he was in it. I just forgot
that he was in it, right, because Mission Impossible three
doesn't really feature Benji and Ving Rains that much because
it's it's so much with him and Owen Davian and
Billy Crudep and so it's like, okay, so now I
feel like, wait a minute. So he went to AI
(22:15):
and the answer should have been Ving Raims was in
Mission Impossible three, yeah, But instead it just gave him
reasons why he wasn't in it. No, No, he was
actually in it. So here's AI maybe not as smart
as you think.
Speaker 5 (22:25):
Well, the other thing you do is you don't give
it a sustaining battery. It's got to have a power source, okay, Toppery,
all right, So once you unplug it, it just sits there.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
No, but I've seen all those movies that when you
unplug it, it still has power, it still becomes self reliance. Somehow,
that's just lazy writing, but that's usually what it is.
Speaker 5 (22:47):
Oh no, it's I became self aware. He needed that
battery charge become self reliant.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Oh okay, Oh, I see what your problem is here.
This doll has been set to evil. How do we
get around this? Oh, it's become self fraud. It's like
all the rude ourselves into a corner.
Speaker 1 (23:02):
It's like, you know, and another thing, it's like all
the horror movie and novels that I read, right, all
the stuff that all the horror movies like, Okay, you
know what, you gotta stop with the Oh my phone
is dead or it doesn't get reception.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
You gotta stop with that now, because that's just lazy. Again.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
Oh but but how do we do It was much
easy to do horror movies in the eighties nineties. I
get it when no one was able to contact people
and you could be isolated more.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
But now I'm.
Speaker 1 (23:24):
Sorry, everybody's got cell phones and guess what, you got
reception just about everywhere. Oh well, even in the middle
of the bleeping woods you get reception. Oh no, bars, no, this,
no that. I'll just say that my phone was dead
and I didn't.
Speaker 4 (23:35):
Have a tube.
Speaker 3 (23:36):
Who doesn't charge their phone? Who wants their charge?
Speaker 8 (23:38):
Die?
Speaker 1 (23:38):
And say their phone die and go yeah, I'll charge
it at some point. No, you charge it right away.
You need everybody lives on their phone, right, that's the
laziest thing now. But even even a book I'm reading
right now, which is a fantastic book. It's called The
Staircase in the Woods, I'm like, really, it's gotta be Oh,
there's no reception in the woods. Come on, man, God
can do better than that.
Speaker 5 (23:56):
Well, there's also a lot of theories now that you
might be your own hotspot, not.
Speaker 3 (24:00):
Knowing better than so you have reception. I'm always my
own hotspot, you know. I'm just saying I'm my own
hut spot. That's what it is. Don't want to go
deep dive there. People come out of the weeds on
that one. It's just lazy, man, just lazy. Let's let's
get past that. But just but a big thing to know.
Speaker 1 (24:16):
Hey, maybe AI is not going If AI thinks that
Ving Raims was not in Mission Impossible three when they
have an entire database of the Internet to look on,
maybe they're not that smart.
Speaker 3 (24:25):
A movie where Ai steps over Tyron Lou.
Speaker 1 (24:28):
Yes, that that that's exactly the movie. Yes, yeah, it's
very interesting. Steps like.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
One of them got a Championshi. Okay, well that's true.
That is true.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
As we said last hour, because he has been a
tweeting fool since the Thunder eliminated the Timberwolves, we get
to once again play.
Speaker 2 (24:54):
Oh yeah, no, it's the Magic Judson Twitter game.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
Like the Extended Adult Swim, another version of the Magic
Johnson Twitter game. Game is easy, no more obvious or
vanilla tweeter in the world than Magic Johnson.
Speaker 3 (25:12):
So here's the game. I give you a tweet.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
You tell me if it is a Magic Johnson tweet
or made up entirely by me like this. The more
you think about this game and think about your answers,
the more difficult it gets playing as myself, Mike Harmon,
Justin Frostburg, and Alex Caruso ty Shirt. Are you ready, giggity,
let's go, Let's get it on. I want to apologize
(25:37):
to the Oklahoma City Thunder for underestimating them and not
thinking they were ready to compete for a championship. Is
that a Magic Johnson tweet? I want to apologize the
Oklahoma City Thunder for underestimating them saying they're not ready.
Speaker 5 (25:52):
To compete for a championship. Is that contrite Magic Johnson? Yeah,
apologize to the Thunder in public? No, okay, I can't, Okay,
all right, I mean that.
Speaker 6 (26:08):
Would be a very magic Johnson thing to do, to
apologize in something that's fake, like a tweet.
Speaker 8 (26:17):
Okay, yeah, that's well played, Carusoe. No mention of the lightning,
just the thunder, just the thunder. Lightning and the thunder.
Well the lightning play hockey. And they've been eliminated for
a while, yeah they were. Lightning does come before thunder.
They were eliminated before the thunder, so it makes sense.
Speaker 3 (26:37):
And then.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Did that really make you say, yes, I want to
apologize to the Oklahoma City Thunder for underestimating them and
not thinking they were ready to win a championship.
Speaker 3 (26:51):
And again, thank you so much for sharing that.
Speaker 5 (26:53):
That is.
Speaker 3 (26:56):
A magic Johnsons.
Speaker 1 (27:04):
Maybe next year for aunt Edwards. He's a great player.
Is that a magic Johnson tweet? Maybe next year for
Aunt Edwards, he's a great player. No, okay, wow, you
sound like you have disgust and disdain. It's weak, Okay,
all right, I mean there's no exposition there at all.
(27:25):
But I apologize Oklahoma Citying And you were like, oh now,
he says, hey, maybe next year.
Speaker 3 (27:30):
Oh that's weak. I understand. Apologize. He apologize for nothing.
He just I just read the tweet. He apologized why
the whole magic, what's wrong with the whole round of
the game?
Speaker 6 (27:41):
But on his apology, I apologize to absolutely nobody is right.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
Alright, what do you think, Prosberg? What's the question? Maybe
next year? Ann Edwards he's a great player. No, he
doesn't know that. His nickname is aunt No, no, okay,
all right.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
By the way, on the broadcast, the number of times
you said ant man like and with the intonation, it's like,
are you mocking him? Like he's small ant man not
able to affect the game now? Or when he made
a big play, it's like suddenly he's giant Paul Rudd
neating orange slices like.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
Sja is running down the court, putting his hand down
to the court like that gesture shows oh you're too small.
Speaker 5 (28:21):
Man.
Speaker 6 (28:22):
Magic is the guy with the backpack that comes to
sprayse your driveway.
Speaker 3 (28:29):
No, he orcanman is here. It's a man? How you're
saying no?
Speaker 8 (28:34):
Caruso was there an attached picture of him in a
hot tub with Ann?
Speaker 1 (28:39):
There was what just a question, wait, with Paul Rudd
or with Anthony Edwards. Anthony Edwards, Oh, no, there was
one with Paul Rudd though, Oh then yes it is okay,
that is not a magic Johnson tweets those with porzingis
(29:06):
message to the Knicks, go back to what got you
to the Eastern Conference Finals. Put Josh Hart back in
the starting lineup. Is that a magic Johnson tweet?
Speaker 3 (29:19):
Yeah, that was the guy. He picked it during his tenure.
Speaker 1 (29:23):
Message to the New York Knicks, go back to what
got you to the Eastern Conference Finals. Put Josh Hart
back in the starting lineup.
Speaker 4 (29:30):
I mean that's not going to get them back to
winning ways.
Speaker 3 (29:33):
You never know, nothing else has worked.
Speaker 6 (29:36):
The Pacers are just that much better magic, I'm gonna say. Yeah,
he wants to throw some shit at the Knicks, likes
more than them.
Speaker 8 (29:43):
Yeah, all right, I'm confused. Okay, you're saying in a
tweet he sent a message.
Speaker 1 (29:49):
Yes, message to the Knicks, go back to what got
you to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
It's putting Josh Hart back in the starting lineup. Message
in a bottle.
Speaker 8 (29:58):
So in a tweet, though he sent a message, he said,
message in a tweet.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Can you do that.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
Yeah, it's called it's called layering. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah,
it's like one of those.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
Russian nesting dolls you have. Whoa, you know, do you
know what those are called.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
Russian nesting dolls? No? I know it's not, but Tyser said,
I got it right.
Speaker 3 (30:20):
Just shut up. I thought they were called mala. It's
not Shostakovich. We are greatst team. Are you being porzingis now?
Speaker 5 (30:31):
No?
Speaker 1 (30:31):
I was David Harbor from the from the New Avengers
Red Guardian. Sorry spoiler Thunderbolts. I'm gonna say yes because
he sents a layered tweet because it's a layered treet layered.
Ty's gonna find a way to get that in a
podcast soon. I got to say layered tweet, la layered
tweet layer That is a magic Johnson tweets. Let's go
(30:58):
by the way. He's really quick on thunderbolts, right, like, yeah,
you know, so I enjoyed it. Yeah, no, no, but
here's the thing, Like, so Thunderbolts comes out, it's called
Thunderbolts and all going in I'm thinking, okay, how does
this have to do with President Ross? Right, because yeah,
William Hurt's character and Harrison Ford's character Thunderbolt Ross. Right
that okay, okay, so Thunderbolts. How are they going to
bring him back?
Speaker 3 (31:17):
How it fit in?
Speaker 1 (31:18):
Oh no, No, it's the name of their soccer team
when the kids when when when uh and and and
Charge Hanson were kids. I'm like, so, you're not even
gonnaddress the fact that the MCU his nickname is Thunderbolt
Ross and you're gonna call it like that didn't come
up in a meeting anywhere. Hey, I know, I want
to call it Thunderbolts, but you know where everything his
(31:40):
nickname was Thunderbolts, where.
Speaker 5 (31:41):
Everything's about continuity and storyboarding and layering. See layering again.
By the way, that other movie with Harrison Ford came
out today on on digital on Disney Plus.
Speaker 3 (31:54):
So I'll watch that, you go. Anthony Mackie thunder fan base.
Speaker 1 (31:58):
Needs to give GMS Am Presty is standing ovation for
putting together an amazing roster? Is that a magic Johnson's
The Ocean Blue? Thunder fans need to give their GM
Sam Presty a standing ovation for putting together an amazing roster.
Speaker 5 (32:15):
That is that's got a Kirkland label on it. It's
so generic.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
Kirkland, Dude, you could do much worse than some of
the Kirkland products.
Speaker 5 (32:25):
No, oh my god, No, no, no, I'm not demeaning the Kirkland.
I'm just saying the power of a generic brand, like
I'm not buying Kirkland jeans, but I'll buy Kirkland soap, right, Okay, So,
I mean, okay, the jeans aren't bad. I'm gonna say yes.
You're gonna say yes.
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Okay. Frostburg, you said.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
To see im Presty, Yeah, yeah, Okay, Vanilla is it good?
Speaker 3 (32:46):
Okay, you'very good. Alex So did some research here, Jason.
Speaker 8 (32:52):
Okay, they are known as Babushka dolls in other parts
of the world, but they are known as Matroshka dolls.
Speaker 3 (32:58):
Okay, sold So yes, it's a tweet. That's that is
a Magic Johnson tweet, Matrioshka. Take that back.
Speaker 1 (33:14):
Good luck to the Thunder in the finals against either
the Pacers.
Speaker 3 (33:17):
Or the Knicks, your selfish bastard.
Speaker 1 (33:19):
That okay, he did not say that part, but the
other part, good luck to the Thunder in the finals
against the Pacers or the Knicks.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
Your selfish bastards.
Speaker 4 (33:32):
No even knows the Knicks have no shot in hell?
Speaker 1 (33:36):
You really think he would leave out the other team. Okay,
all right, you're saying no, okay.
Speaker 4 (33:40):
Yeah, no way.
Speaker 5 (33:42):
The fact that he named him both, it's pretty soft.
Call your shot, mat.
Speaker 3 (33:48):
Yeah, because that's what he does. He calls the shot
all the time. Again, that's what that's the layered joke.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
If you apologize to the thunder and it's got like
two hundred and sixty two thousand retweets.
Speaker 3 (34:00):
I'm gonna say this is a Magic Johnson tweet. Okay,
all right, all right, hang on, Caruso's doing research, Jason.
Speaker 8 (34:08):
I found out the first Babushka dolls were made in
eighteen ninety okay by Serge Miliutin and Vasil.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
I'm gonna butcher this viro Trushkin. Okay.
Speaker 1 (34:18):
They were the founders of the N and the Pool.
Cue that Tom Cruise using the color money was the Balabushka.
What the ballibut looked that up? Balabushka?
Speaker 3 (34:26):
Okay, then it's not a tweet. Did he take the balabuska?
Speaker 1 (34:28):
So that's not a This is like Monty Python logic.
If she weighs more than a duck, then she's a witch.
Speaker 3 (34:34):
Murder mans that is not magic, Johnson. I figured the
game out. You said, don't think so much. Coming up next,
your selfish bastard.
Speaker 1 (34:49):
We'll tell you what's next for a guy we've been
absolutely ruthless on the last couple of nights, and it's
gonna be good advice that he should take and follow
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (35:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific, Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 4 (35:10):
The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
So while the Thunder headed onto the NBA Finals, the
Tea Wolves go Home had a good run. What's next
now for Ann Edwards? All right, last couple nights talked
about how he was not ready to be the face league,
not ready to take responsibility for bad nights nights and
only takes thirteen shots.
Speaker 3 (35:30):
But I want to be positive. I want to help
the guy. Oh good, you're gonna help him make the
right basketball play.
Speaker 1 (35:35):
I am going to help him make a move that
could potentially get him to that next level where he
could be considered as being the face League and not
someone who disappears in an NBA playoff series and won't
take responsibility for Oh gay I like this, yeah so,
And it kind of hit me after we talked to
Rick Buker last night where we talked about him and
him not really getting into a game and pushing things offensively,
(35:59):
and Rick gave us this, which may be the biggest
thing about and Edwards that maybe not a lot of
people knew.
Speaker 7 (36:07):
Like sometimes he can't read the defense. He needs Dante
to tell him, Donte Defintendo to tell him what the
defense is doing and how they're playing. Like that is
that is the most alarming admission by a star player
that I can recall ever hearing in my life. I mean,
(36:27):
we're talking about we're comparing this guy to Michael Jordan's
and he can't read defenses. And if you can't read
the defense and it looks the floor looks muddy, you're
going to be tentive, intentative. You're going to like not
be sure of where you can go, and if you can't,
you can't like or from the mid range. That all
you're looking for is is there a path for me
(36:49):
to get to the rim? And if there isn't, again,
that's what's going to make a guy hesitant or tentative.
Speaker 1 (36:56):
So amazing insight by Rick Bucker with this, because this
eventually explains a little bit of Ann Edwards and the
passivity that we've talked about him having too much. Oh,
I don't see the recognize the defenses. What he needs
and what would help him is he needs a quote
and all capital letters, a conversation with a Hall of famer,
and Shaq would be great guy for this because Shaq
(37:18):
can say, listen, I got to the point in my
career where I knew, hey, I had a great first
few years with Orlando, and I was in movies and
I was a big deal, but I knew my legacy
was going to be something, so I needed to make
sure I put myself position to succeed right.
Speaker 3 (37:32):
So he, you know.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
Gets out of Orlando, gets to LA, they build the
team around him. He's got the right head coach and
Phil Jackson we want and he wins three titles back
to back to back, whens another one with the Miami Heat,
and his legacy is secure. It's different because it's not
quite Ann Edwards, but with what he needs is he
needs that conversation where a Hall of famer who gets
his ear can say you have to understand you need
(37:56):
to do more. If you can't read the defenses, you
need to be in the film room and you got
to read him until you know him right. You can't
rely on asking your teammate what it is you have
to do more. You need to be able to accomplish
more in this game to get to that next level.
And this is where the light switch has to go
on for you've been getting by with great athletic ability,
a great feel for the game, great reactions, great reflexes,
(38:19):
and clearly in the moment of play, he can do it.
When he can out physical you, he is fantastic. But
he doesn't quite know when to take over or how
to take over and how to be more consistent. And
it hasn't happened by now, and he's not taking responsibility
after a game. And that's why when he said that
after the game end that I don't look like it
as I struggled.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Dude, you struggled in a large way. Man, Are you kidding?
Speaker 1 (38:41):
This is why he needs a conversation with someone who
he respects that can say listen, I get it, and
this is the best way. You need to understand that
you need to do more, and that's where the light
switch has to go on for me. It's okay, it
is more film work, it is being more of a leader.
Whatever it is, that special thing, that intangible that you need.
It could be hard work, could be understanding. There's more
(39:01):
responsibility than I have. But he a conversation with someone
that could have his ear. And in five years from now,
we're reading an ESPN dot com article right before the
finals where it says, the conversation with Shack change my life?
Whoever else changed my life? Like that could be the
biggest thing he needs in the office.
Speaker 5 (39:16):
It could just be that magic Johnson tweet that read
a little bit before.
Speaker 3 (39:20):
I don't know, but you know.
Speaker 5 (39:22):
Some of it goes to the comparisons coming out of
last year.
Speaker 3 (39:26):
Where is he gonna be Jordan? Right, we're always looking for.
Speaker 5 (39:29):
The next Well, what was the thing on Michael Jordan's
starting his career? Scored a bunch, didn't win start. Everything
was driving to the basket, overpowering out out athleticism, right,
was the big thing. At some point the rest of
the league is there with you, Right, the other stars
are there with you. The team defense like the Oklahoma
(39:51):
City because you got to go run through them like,
there's your benchmark, right for the next five years of
your career.
Speaker 3 (39:57):
That's the team you're going to have to go through.
Speaker 5 (40:00):
And suddenly the defensive philosophy and change we had it
from his coach talking about, Hey, you need to bring juice,
I need that emotion, I need all that. So they
have to get on the same page as well. But
some of the Jordan evolution was the mid range jumper,
the ability to be more consistent from three.
Speaker 3 (40:15):
Aunt takes him.
Speaker 5 (40:17):
He just doesn't hit him consistently, no right, and it's
rounding out that game. Like we talk about with so
many guys that come in with great athleticism, football, basketball,
whatever the sport.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
You gotta keep learning.
Speaker 1 (40:29):
Yeah, you have to get to that point in your
career you go, Okay, I've come into the league and
my skills allowed me to be dominant, but it's not
quite enough, and you gotta realize what's.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
Important to me. Your legacy is what you don't want.
Speaker 1 (40:42):
To be the guy that people, oh, you had every
boy he was great, but that he didn't care right,
And it's got to be whatever it is to get him.
Could be the mid range jumper, could be hitting could
be more of a three point but it could be
as much as I gotta I gotta be able to
read the deeps because I gotta know when I can
drive when not when when. This just looks like something
that is made to confuse me, like he needs but
a conversation with someone with a conversation with a Hall
(41:05):
of Famer gotta be it.
Speaker 5 (41:06):
But maybe de Vincenzo didn't give him the help he
needed in this series, it's his fault.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
Saboteur exit olt vota fresca exit, swelling down, my buddy,
Ben Mallards.
Speaker 3 (41:15):
Next, this is Fox
