have that Angel restory coming up in a few minutes.
But incendiary, but I and but a big NFL story,
but I gotta say this first because this is really weird,
because I want to know who would do something like this. Sure, So,
(01:12):
about five minutes ago, I go to the refrigerator to
get a drink, right, get one drink for your final
hour of the show, and uh, right next to the tequila. No,
and in there in the refrigerator. That was a job.
I once head, we're here late whatever. In the refrigerator.
Sitting on the shelf right in front is a halfway
drank Starbucks. Okay, halfway drank, except someone wrote on the
(01:37):
on the cup free. Put a sticker on the cup
and wrote free, as if to say, this is in
the refrigerator if you would like it, take it. Who
the hell? What kind of person drinks half the Starbucks
and that says, oh, I want to give it away.
I'm going to put it in the refrigerator for someone
else to have, Like, what the hell is that? Did
you check whether there was a name? They might have
(01:58):
gone by the name of free when they were it
was World be Free. He came in, he's a listen.
I'm only happy I want that cup because it's it
was Freeman McNeil, That's what it was. Marcus Freeman it was, Yeah,
it was. It was Matthew McConaughey from the Free State
of Jones. If it was Marcus Freeman, I got questions
for I mean, who are doing ty shirt? Who would
(02:19):
do that?
Speaker 2 (02:20):
Like?
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Who would do that here? I mean we know people
that would drink your half a cup? Oh yes, yes,
I just say your company? Who would leave it? Only person?
I think it was Ron Parker. No, no, he's eating
half a chicken, just left the other half. Yeah, yeah, No,
But this is someone who went to the design, went
to the lengths of saying, hey, I want to make
I'm going to give this somebody and write free on it.
(02:41):
No one here that would something for free. Someone didn't
just still in there. Somebody yeah, still to drink it.
It's literally all right. And the thing is it's someone
who's here to not I feel like like Ben wall
blancs suspect foul play.
Speaker 3 (02:55):
Someone someone who would re because it's still the drink
is still icy.
Speaker 1 (03:03):
It's not like if it was you know, because the
blended drink would just become all slush after or become
all just all liquid after a while. But it is
still pretty slushy. So this is a pretty recent drink
that either it's not me. I don't think it's you.
I don't think it's tie shirt because it would probably
be too much sugar in it for him. So it's
either Patrick or Moncey or Brie or Brandon. I will
(03:25):
say this and never came in with the Starbucks at all.
I had a coffee at twelve at noon, not neon o'clock.
By the way, I like the a coffee a coffee.
I had a coffee, all right, because I want to
know who to just throw it away. No, I don't
say that I'll drink it. It's half of my drink
that I can't be bothered to drink anymore. So one
of you other people can drink it. Just throw the
(03:46):
thing away. Man. At that point, well, I mean it's
a nice gesture. I mean it's expensive drink. I like
thrifting as much as the next guy, and I take
my daughter thrifting all the time. I'm not gonna thrift
in the refrigerator. It's certain thrifting things. It's like I
got a pulp fictionen. I ain't got coodie. I'm not
con thrived. That's a tasty burger, Jason, I got it Okay,
(04:08):
oh you did go get it? You're drinking it? What
is wrong with you? You don't know My man was
just eating bugs in the desert. He's good. That's a
caramel frappucino. I can smell it. How about that X
level stuff? You're like Bill Murray eating the baby Ruth
and Caddy Shag. He's not half bad. Don't think I
should drink this? No, you know what? Hey lett Okay, okay,
(04:30):
let the record show that I said no, I think
that's a bad idea. But if you but I mean,
if it's that's free.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
It's either the name is free or they wanted someone
to enjoy tasty bad. Maybe they ordered to drink it,
decided they didn't like it. If you too rich, it
was too sugary, it was too much.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
If you drink it and you suddenly feel like you've
gotten bitten by a radioactive spider I told you. Spider
Man kind of entices me more. I'm Preppuccino Man. Spider Man,
out of his fingers, comes the whip. Creepy Spider Man.
That was really good. He's all wired all the time.
Why why are you superhero? I'm Preppaccino Man. Just have
(05:06):
another frappuccino. I'm really wired. What I'm fighting crime fighting crime, crime, crime, crime, crime,
crime crime. Cry here, just sit down a little bit. Okay,
you're fine. You're fine, frappuccino man.
Speaker 3 (05:16):
When you're an unusually attractive aunt prepuccino man, who's your argentemy?
Speaker 1 (05:21):
That arch enemy is Napman. He makes me fall asleep.
It's he's and it's nap Man and sugar crash Boy.
I'm gonna stop both of you. You know, I think
this was what do you think it was? I think
it was Doug Gottlieb. Wow, Okay, Doug, Doug Gottlieb's not here.
He is in He's in Green Bay. How do you know.
(05:42):
I'm pretty sure he's in Green Bay. Follow him around. Yeah,
I'm pretty sure he's in Green Bay. I'm gonna say,
I mean, yeah, Okay, I'm gonna say. I'm gonna say
it's Manzi's. Well, I'm gonna say it's Monzie. Yeah, I'm gonnay,
it's MONSI I think I think it's Monzi's. I'm aout
some gonna say that's my that's my that's my thing.
I've seen her. She's coming with all kinds of Starbucks.
I think it's Monzi's. We'll ask her in a little bit.
(06:04):
So the ratings for Texas and Ohio State have just
come in right, Week one college football, biggest game of
the week. Here's how big it was. It averaged sixteen
and a half million viewers all right, a peak of
eighteen and a half million viewers on Fox on fuck.
(06:26):
It is the most watched Week one college football game
ever on any network, most watched Week one college football
game ever, and the third most watched regular season game
in Fox history. That's how big this game was. Saturday. Okay, Now,
obviously we talked about the importance of arch Manning and
(06:49):
again we said, I mean, it's my fault he sucked
on Saturday, because I said Friday night, what if he sucks?
College Football's got a lot of equity built up in
arch Manning having a big season. That's a big blow
for college football, and it's overall relevancy and interest of
arch Manning sucks. Arch Manning sucked on Saturday. So that's
my fault. But without arch Manning is it's still sixteen million,
(07:09):
probably still a great audience, but there's got to be
a few million who tuned in because it's arch Manning,
so it is the superpower of arch Manning. But the
bigger takeaway for this is, now, if I'm the SEC
and the Big Ten, I know it's something they've probably
skirted around a little bit, and it's it's been maybe
(07:31):
bandied about. But this is where if I'm the SEC
and the Big Ten, I say, it is time for
us to form our own super league, and we would
be the A league in college football, the Division two,
the next lower division would be the ACC teams and
the teams from the Big twelve, which hey, I'm fine
Caseyracuse Quinn National Championship, I don't care for second one,
and it would be those teams in the second level.
(07:53):
But you see that people come out in college football
for superstar football games and for the SEC and the
Big Ten. They are clearly the teams of the moment,
and it doesn't need to be something that happens for
the next twenty years. College football changes every five minutes.
They can do this for the next little bit. They
could get an incredible TV package. Every game would be big.
(08:13):
You would you would have teams from the Big Ten
playing their big rivals and then playing big teams in
the other conferences, you'd have a bigger playoffs. You have
to let more teams in because Michigan's gonna say, okay,
we're okay playing Ohio State and Penn State and Alabama
and LSU. But there's gonna be like ten teams in
the playoff right of our thirty. You're gonna have ten
teams in right, so everybody would be in for it.
(08:36):
It would be much more money for the schools because
that's where the power lies right now. And I don't
think the power's going anywhere because the two conferences that
are the safest, that are the most expandable to continue
to expand are the SEC in the Big Ten. I
think I think it's naive if they don't sit together
and have a conversation that can we do this? Can
we do the whole AKUFO Super League? From Ted Lasso?
(08:57):
Could we actually make this a college football reality? You
will never ever ever because these are you see this
with Texas and Ohio State. Yes, it was a lot
of big build up. Yes it's a big game, but
every game between the Big Ten and the SEC would
be of this level. You would get huge viewership and
if you want to talk about the new level of
(09:18):
college football, the new the new era of college football,
the new normal, Big ten SEC super league. You would
you would relegate the ACC and the Big twelve in
the Mountain West and everything. They'd be relegated to the
to the to the CBS Sports Network at four o'clock
on a Saturday, or the ACC network would have all
the games right now because ESPN and Fox would have
all the Big ten SEC games, and everybody would get
(09:40):
rich and we'd spend a lot of money to have
these on here. That's the future of college football. And
seeing this game right here, that's great news if you're
the Big ten in the SEC. Bad news everybody else.
Speaker 4 (09:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
It's the curiosity though, is does it wane if it
suddenly becomes you know, we've got this crossover event right
because the Inner League play was a big deal once
upon a time. Now you play everybody, so you still
have some juice to the series. But you know, Cubs,
White Sox guys are still gonna fight in the stands.
I mean, that's just a normal Tuesday wednesdayay. But for
(10:13):
for a lot of this other it's it's lost some
of its luster to the point where it's it's not
even necessarily going to be the game of the week
on Fox or ESPN or or you know, all of
Apple TV on a Friday night or whatever else.
Speaker 1 (10:27):
I'm trying to get make sure I get all these
corporate partners and who else did I miss someone else?
But all of that to say, I think to your
point of just this time and space, that it makes sense.
Right you're expanding the playoff. There's not a lot of
risk because that's we talked about it yesterday some of
the game in terms of game plan and yes, there
(10:48):
were some drop passes that really could have opened things
up for the stat line on Ohio state side for
saying and everything else. But you know that one loss
doesn't crush you, so you may.
Speaker 3 (11:00):
Be inclined to keep scheduling games of that ILK if
you're going cross conferences. I like it, but I don't
know that I get all the big storylines that come
to a head like this one did. Right the anticipation
of arch Manning. I mean, you're still gonna do a
good number. Now we're just trying to figure out what's
that arch Manning?
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Yea juice? What was that worth? Probably four million? Whatever
it is? Still talk about the top two two. But
that's the thing. Yeah, even if he's not there, arch Manning.
You know, he was the Heisman favorite, but now he's
a relative bargain. But all the big stars are in
the SEC and the big ten. Whether you're the quarterback
of Michigan, Ohio State, Alabama, you're a big star cam Ward.
(11:43):
If cam Ward am I not okay, Alabam Kalin, But yeah,
you're right, Klen de bar has got some work to do.
But like if cam Ward played for Michigan or Ohio
State or Alabama or LSU, he would be in would
have been an unbelievable super duper star in college football.
As it is, he played for Miami and Miami had
a big year last year, a lot of attention until
that got smoked Vizier Use and he was a number
(12:05):
one pick in the draft. But cam Ord wasn't a
guy that we spent so much time fawning over. You
play in the SEC and the big it's just a
bigger deal. You're a bigger star then you would be anywhere.
Speaker 3 (12:15):
I mean, we did get him from PAC twelve after dark,
that is after dark, so you and I got to
talk about him.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
So after dark that. But that's the case now that
when all the stars of college football and all the
big programs are in these two conferences. Okay, if we
can make it work from a TV schedule, TV standpoint
and make our own league, and suddenly we're now negotiating
a lot of money for a lot less people. Hey
guess what, man, we got to make this happen.
Speaker 3 (12:42):
We've talked about the super Friends years ago, right the
Super Conference and deciding how big that would be and
how you relegate everybody else, whether it would be the
initial thirty two or or whether you got out to
the full bracket of sixty four sixty eight and then
the everybody else gets sited and off into uh, as
you say, the junior leagues. And so it's the curiosity
(13:07):
for the heads. And certainly when we look at Greg Sank,
I mean he pushes all the buttons right right now,
it all flows through him.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
So if the.
Speaker 3 (13:15):
SEC started to push the envelope on this, it could
get it could escalate quickly.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Exit out about a Fresco exit Swallen Dome, the Jason
smithser with Mike Carmon live from the Fox Sports Radio
Studios at Super League Big ten SEC that's happening, tysher.
Did you finish that drink? You drank it all? You
drank the whole You drank it said free it's freeze
for me. I can't believe you drank the whole drink.
You drank a half a coffee drink at ten thirty
(13:43):
fun fact, Yeah it was full. Yeah, but I think
it melts it as as sitting in the fridge. Okay,
here's the thing. I'll call you at three in the
morning when you are just saying, hey, why am I
still up? Okay, so you know that's going to see
a movie? Yeah, what do we got go? What are
gonna watch? The Star Wars Trilogy, the Original, the New Ones?
(14:03):
It conjurings out. Let's let's go watch all the conjurings
at the same time. Coming up next, we get back
into the Angel Reese controversy. She has apologized for coming
she made earlier tonight that lit the sports world on fire.
What kind of apology was it? You'll hear it next.

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike harmon Foreigner Night. That's right. I remember when
Phil Collins, the lead singer foreigner or great. He played
the drums too. Oh, it was fantastic. No, we talked
about this yesterday. You know, with Caitlyn Clark being heard,
(16:50):
Angel Reese being heard. It's been a tougher year that
anticipated for the wnben tough for you, and considering today
is the night before the NFL begins. Happy NFL leave,
it takes a pretty big story to get us to
not talk NFL for a few minutes tonight. Angel Reese
has given us that story, thank you. A whole bit
(17:13):
of drama that began earlier tonight when she did an
interview with the Chicago Tribune about the Chicago Sky season,
which has been terrible. They're awfully been eliminated from playoff contention,
an awful year. And she went and she lit her
whole team and head coach on fire in the interview.
Give you some of the quotes of things that she said,
(17:34):
because she has since apologized for it, but will trust me.
You got to do this drama one step at a time.
So in part of the interview, she was upset with
how things have gone this year with Chicago. She first said,
I'm not settling for the same blank we did this
year It's gonna be very, very important this offseason to
(17:55):
make sure we attract the best of the best because
we can't settle for what we have this year. So
this is angel Reach saying my team is bad. All right,
we can't settle for what we have.
Speaker 6 (18:04):
No.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
I mean, like, look, that's a good start. We can't
do this. I don't know when saying we need talent
to come in because we can't settle for the talent
we have on this team. Yeah, not everybody's a star,
but wow, these are your teammates that you sweated with
for the last couple of years and you decide, hey,
guess what, you guys aren't good enough. She also said
(18:24):
the only two players that should absolutely be back next
year are herself and Kamilla Cardos. Well that's where she
uh crossed that room again there, everybody else is bad.
Me and Camilla, we're the only stars. She said. Their
head coach needs to coach them harder. Wait what yes.
Tyler Marsh, who they hired to be the new head
coach this year, which Angel Rees didn't like the fact
(18:47):
that Teresa Weatherspoon was fired, disagreed with it, said March
Marsh has to coach us harder. Okay, wow, so there's
the coach thrown under the bus. What else about this team?
Said she, I didn't think that a player like Courtney Vanderslut,
who won the title last year, came this year but
tore her acl because of her injury in her advanced age.
(19:07):
Courtney's not the person to come in and lead us
next year. Also said we need other players, different skill
sets because what they have on the team right now
not quite the level of what they need, which is Oh,
by the way, Hayley van Lyth, who is her former
teammate from LSU. Yeah, this was completely on brand for
Angel Rees because I've said this before, there's nobody in
(19:30):
sports that has a bigger ego than Angel Reas. She
loves herself. Some Angel Reaves more than anybody else. Even
Lebron wouldn't come out and say these things and name
names about his team. No, do that. He's got plenty
of fans, He's got plenty of sick of advants in
the media that would stand up and do that for him.
And you don't have the cachet to say stuff like this, right,
(19:54):
But unless you feel like you have the biggest ego
in sports, like She's someone that walks around every day
and just I think in her head is just I'm great,
I'm great, I'm great, and I'm great. She's wanted to
be a star, She's wanted to be a big superstar,
and this is the path she's in right now. And
you see that she is someone who has been about
herself for a long time. And you're gonna hear that
(20:14):
in her apology. Oh, by the way, that's called foreshadowing.
But this is the equivalent of someone like Anthony Edwards,
who has been anointed a star, maybe a little bit
before he has proven to be the big, super duperstar.
He was coming out and saying, Chris Finch needs to
coach us harder. The only other person should be here
after this season is me and Julius Randall. That's it.
Other players on the team. I don't know that Dante
(20:36):
DiVincenzo can do it. I don't know that we have
other players who can come and and be what we need.
We can't go into this year talent wise with what
we had on the what we've had on the team.
Nobody does that. Nobody does that. Nobody says that about
their teammates. If you want to light up the front
office for putting a bad team out there. Okay, I
get it, but you don't name names on your teammates.
This is where, hey, you should have done an individual
(20:57):
sport where you don't have to worry about teammates, because
this is a sport where I get it. She's been
playing basketball her whole life, but wow, it feels like
it's Angel recent everybody else on the team that she's
played on, and this is the work. I mean, you
don't do this to your teammates. You know, everybody's working,
everybody's trying to win, and you want to sit here
and say, hey, it's me and only one other person
are good enough. This is like how the the star
(21:18):
player on a U twelve team acts when their dad
is the coach, and all the dad does is tell
the kid how great he is, and the kid says, yeah,
my team stinks. I mean, I'm in the picture. I
hit fourth. There's only so much I can do. The
rest of my team is terrible. Like that's the level
we're at right now, where really, she just doesn't get
what it means to be a big team and be
(21:38):
about more than just yourself when it comes to your team. No,
and that's it.
Speaker 3 (21:41):
I can take some of that statement and wonder if
she just got got in her head regarding where the
team is. Right, this is unacceptable. Back to back years,
you changed the coach, you did all this stuff, and
none of it mattered. You're still mired down onto ten wins.
But there's only one team behind them. Right mathematically, I've
(22:04):
tied for eleventh and then you got the Wings with
Page Beckers right behind them. But all of that say
that I think you can have that shot of hey,
it needs to be better. But you went and isoed
the players. Yeah right, calling out Van der Slute, calling
out you know, the guard position, everything else and even
(22:26):
the Vanderslute. And give her a little bit of grace
because it is a like we would question, Okay, you're
thirty six coming off in ACL can you give heavy minutes?
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Can you like?
Speaker 3 (22:34):
Okay, fine, yeah, I'll give her a little bit of
grace there. But then you still have the rest of
this team that's as assembled, and you preface it all by,
you know, pondering your future in Chicago before you you
then lit it up.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
Said she has she wants to stay open minded about
staying in Chicago. But if things don't pan out, I
might have to move in a different direction and do
what's best for me. Now she is doing a little
bit like you always say with the NBA players, and
like Micah Parson's I don't want to be here anymore. Yeah, yeah,
there it is. So these are all things she has said.
These are all quotes what I've read from the Chicago Tribune.
(23:10):
After this got out, there were reports that her teammates
wanted to talk to her about this. I have no
doubt talked to Angel about this, and they had a
game tonight and after the game apparently they all spoke.
No one really gave any details about what was said,
but Angel Reese did say she apologized to her teammates.
Here she is talking about what she said and expressing
(23:31):
some regret for her comments. Listen to Angel Reese's apology
for her interview with the Tribune.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Were you frustrated with the organization or frustrated in general?
Speaker 6 (23:44):
I don't think I'm frustrated. I probably am frustrated myself
right now. I think the language is taken out of context,
and I really didn't intentionally mean to put down my
teammates because they've been through this with me throughout the
whole year. They've busted their eyes just how I busted
my eyes. They showed it for me through thick and
thin in in the locker room when nobody could see anything.
So I would apologize to my teammates, which I already have,
(24:08):
about the article and how was misconstrued about what was said.
And I just have to be better with my language
because I know it's not the message, just the messenger
and understanding what I what I say can be taken
any kind of way. So I just have to really
be better and growing from this.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
Okay, a couple of things. Number One to say, you
know my teammates, Uh, they were there for me. They
were there for me. They were there for me. Still
it's about her, not I was there for that. We've
been there for each other. It's they were there for me.
They were there for me, like the her entire team
are supporting acts in the Angel Rees Show, right, and
(24:43):
and that that's kind of coming through on her apology
and when she says my words are misconstrued, real, I
don't know that this is stuff that's misconstrued. These are
all very long quotes about what she said about particular players,
and and and I don't know how you can say, well,
that's misconstruct have to have it read back to me. Quote,
we can't rely on Courtney Vanderslout to come back at
(25:04):
the age that she's at. I know she'll be a
great asset for us, but we can't rely on that.
We need someone probably a little younger, with some experience,
someone who's been playing the game and is willing to
compete for a championship and has done it before. That's
a pretty big quote saying yeah, we can't rely teammates. Sorry,
you got hurt, can't rely on you anymore. That's a
conversation the coaches have saying, hey, we rely on this player.
This is the This is not you, these are these
(25:27):
are your teammates. She's got to realize that in sports,
I mean, for someone's been playing her whole life, you're
playing professionally now and and and this is not a
case of hey, it's me and everybody else. Because I'll
tell you what the reality is gonna be for her,
And this is something that's gonna really shock her, is
that as good a player as she is, she's a
(25:48):
great rebounder, right, She's just not quite the superstar that
that people want to make her out. But she's a
star and she's a really good player. I guarantee you
the conversation with the Sky having now and any other
team that is thinking about maybe trading for her, because
that's where you're gonna be at right now. The conversation's
gonna be is her talent worth it? Is her talent
(26:10):
worth what's been what goes on off the court with her?
Because this is a horrible thing that she just ripped
this team apart because of this, and is her talent
gonna overcome that? And the answer is not at resounding yes,
Like Angel Reese is a young play she's twenty three, terrific.
You see what she's done, all the rebounding things. But
teams are gonna say, is that worth it? The Sky
(26:32):
is gonna say, is that worth it? Look at the
Red Sox. They traded Rafael Devers their best player for
the last five years, they've been better. Hey, auditioned by subtraction, right.
I guarantee you the Sky is thinking about this. You
don't want to go because I could sit back and say, hey,
you want to talk about the Sky since you've gotten there,
that team's just gotten worse. All Right, You've had some
pretty big numbers at a big year last year, and
(26:52):
when you've been playing this year, your offensive game is
as matured a bit and it's gotten better. But I
just watch a team that went from one level and
has just gotten worse since you've been there. So can
can you really tell me that that Angel Reese is
the solution that she's going to be well sought after,
because right now you know she's not a team player.
Even this apology, you can tell I'm trying to not
(27:12):
take responsibility for this. Oh no, it's all misconstrued and
a mischaracters or just like I'm standing out there like
John Cusa, you gonna say anything. I got a boom
box and I got my tape, because if she was
really misconstrued, the first thing you would say is whoa, whoa, whoa.
I didn't say that. That's not what I'm I did
not say this, and suddenly I'm gonna sue the Chicago Tribune.
(27:35):
I'm this, But instead it's I have to be more
careful with my words. I have to be uh that
stuff that if you have. Everybody's got their opinions of
their teammates, but you understand that a happy, harmonious locker
room is what wins, and you're in it. You're in
it together with them. That's a bit I wis. People
understand that more about the world, all the differences that
we have with each other, we're all in this together.
You should have been listening to high school musical and
(27:56):
just been done with it. Say it.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
We're all in together. See Manzi's on board. Let's go
MANSI left that you know by foreigner. Yeah, but anyway, Yeah, gotta.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
Listen to the whole show.
Speaker 3 (28:09):
But it's it's the idea that she started in the
quote before. It's like she starts saying, all right, I
need to attract, you know, and be a leader and
attract more talent, and this offseason, I've got to work
my ass off and all of this stuff, and then
it goes into the we can't do this, and then
it starts eviscerating teammate one by one because it starts
(28:31):
off great, like, all right, this is this has been
a tough year. Yeah, and this offseason I really need
to work. I want to play with.
Speaker 1 (28:39):
The best, be with the best, and we need to
and then it just evolves from there and those are
the quotes right, pick one of them, right, that would
be the Chanle threatened against Chicago Tribune. I guarantee you
the Tribune report is gonna say I got the tapes
right here, I got it right here. I want you
want to listen to it. Yeah, you know, there's nothing
in any of those quotes.
Speaker 3 (29:00):
And by the way, she's suspended now after picking up
her eighth technical of the year for an elbow to
the head. Fortunately, Caitlin Clark's not playing because it is
them against the it is the sky against the fever.
Speaker 1 (29:12):
And I know, and honestly I will say this, I
wonder if she plays again this year for them. Good question,
because you only got a couple of games left, you're
out of the playoffs, and if she is part of
your future, there's no reason to play her. You don't
want to get her hurt or anything else. But also this,
this might be where you need some time away from
the team and we have to decide what we want
to do.
Speaker 3 (29:31):
But she's it's a curious space because you know, we
can talk about levels right like we're Kramer, which levels
Jerry that Look, she's got a huge fan base people
Gallther you know, Gal runs they gather around her. They've
got a whole marketing line and a new shoe line
coming out which will sell out. Angel Rees's stuff in
(29:54):
the marketplace does very well, T shirts, you name it.
So it's the box off as part of it is
certainly there, and it's not to demean her as a
player in any way, shape or form. It's just a
if you're going to bring her into a squad, you're
sitting there and you're like box office asses.
Speaker 1 (30:11):
And seats TV because TV ratings have.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Been fine for the league, right even with no Caitlin
Clark and Reese for a bit that it's held up.
But it's just becomes that that next space of all right,
we can do this, but for how long? Right, if
another team were to go and acchoire, it's like, all right,
well how long he's asked the sky right now? Ask
the sky right now? Has the Angel Raies ever been
worth it hasn't been worth it? And I'm gonna say
(30:34):
it hasn't.
Speaker 1 (30:34):
I'm not saying, but it's it's not something where you say, yes,
it's boy, we got the second biggest star in the
w NBA, and where we're weighing how important it is
to have. We're weighing do we build around her do
we not? Is she gonna get it at some point?
Is she going to mature more as a player? Like,
what do we do?
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Do we have to wear it because it's good for
the league, you know, because the league is expanding and
it doesn't translate to wins for us us, but we're
watching the pie grow and it's interesting.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Hey, okay, it's you know, hey, Caitlin Clark worth it,
Asia Wilson worth it, right, and a feast of Collie
You're worth it? Kelsey Plumb worth it? Angel Rees Ooh,
that's a tough That's a tough one. Man. That's a
tough one. So if you're if you're thinking of team's
trade for it's, oh, were things gonna go bad? What's
the weight of the cowffiici on that algorithm that's to
(31:25):
measure it out between dollars cents? And does it make
sense in your locker room for the potential disharmony, particularly
coming out of this.
Speaker 3 (31:32):
I would love to have just been in around any
team after this hit. It's like, let's talk about it?
Speaker 1 (31:38):
Shall we exit out bout a Fresco exit swollen dome?
Jason Smith Mike Harbon live from the Fox Sports Radio
studios time out to find out what's trending from the
person who bought Starbucks today, drank half of it, didn't
want to finish it, wrote free on the cup, put
it in the refrigerator and close the door. It's Monzi
blagyas I did not do that. That says you written
(32:00):
all over. What are you talking about? Give me the
bubbles the bubbles back. See that's what I was gonna say,
you got the bubble heads? What are you doing? I
can say stuff like this now she can take you
down for those you kidding me? Okay, you most likely
people to bring Starbucks in here, so it's not probably wow,
she's your best friend. Probably hey wow, Hey bus hey
(32:22):
angel rees, what do we have a friend of backing
up sound? And I was gonna say, the three people
most likely to bring in Starbucks? Are you breeing me?
And I know I didn't do it? I definitely that's okay.
I don't know that you didn't do it. We don't
know there's collusion going on. I'm not gonna buy a
caramel frappuccino. It's got no chocolate in buy caramel at all?
(32:45):
All right? No, no, no, okay.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Really squeaky Angel Rees, Angelry, what do you think about this?
I just.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
I thought it.
Speaker 2 (32:58):
I thought she was gonna say, I'm really mad at
myself for what I said that.
Speaker 1 (33:04):
I thought that's how it was going to go.
Speaker 2 (33:05):
Yeah, and then it was like, I'm really mad at
myself because I didn't say my.
Speaker 1 (33:09):
Words were misconstrued. What girl, No, they weren't. Not you weren't, Dululu,
What are you talking about?
Speaker 2 (33:15):
So I thought it was going to start in a
way where she was like, you know, I said some
things I didn't mean. I'm more mad at myself. It
was a bad day. It's just a frustrating season, simple
as that.
Speaker 1 (33:26):
Simple as that. Right, that's the pr statement right there.
Not what you said, Angel Reese.
Speaker 2 (33:33):
And yeah, your team's not good and maybe you should
take full responsibility for that. Since you want to be
the face of it, you should probably take the responsibility
and I'll put it on the rest of your teammates.
Speaker 1 (33:42):
That's not cool, all right, guys.
Speaker 2 (33:45):
Week one of the NFL is here, less than twenty
four hours away from the Eagles and the Cowboys.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Kickoff is at eight twenty Eastern Time.
Speaker 2 (33:54):
Other NFL news, Chargers running back Naji Harris is expected
to start in Friday season opener again the Chiefs, the
forty nine Ers and wide receiver Juwan Jennings came to
an agreement. It's a deal that is going to add
three million in playtime incentives, so now he can earn
up to ten point five million this season. He had
wanted another deal, then requested a trade. None of that happen.
Speaker 1 (34:14):
It looks like he's going to suit up for San Francisco.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
NBA News the format of the All Star Game is
likely to be a round robin tournament consisting of three
eight player teams of two USA teams and one World team.
ESPN has the story in the Details that the NBA
and Players Union presented this format to the league's competition
committee on Wednesday and the response was positive. In tennis,
at the US Open, twenty three seed Naomi Osaka won
(34:39):
her quarterfinals match and she's going to face American in
eight seed Amanda Anisimova in the semifinals. On the men's side,
one seed Yanick Center He's headed to the semi finals
as well. Baseball Pirates shout out the Dodgers three zero.
Orioles held on seven to five against the Padres to
complete the sweep in San Diego. LA still lead San
Diego by two and a half games. In the NL West.
(35:00):
Outscored the Phillies the final score. Why didn't I write
the score there, guys? I just wrote they outscored the
Phillies six to three. I think was the final score there?
That is correct. The Blue Jays came back to defeat
the Reds thirteen to nine. Astros edge the Yankees eighty seven.
Guardians crushed the Red Sox eight to one. Yankees and
Red Sox tied for second place now in their division.
The Rays held on nine to four against the Mariners
(35:22):
as Seattle starter George Kirby gave up ten hits and
seven runs in the first two innings of the game.
Speaker 1 (35:27):
Angels beat the Royals four to three.
Speaker 2 (35:28):
Kansas City is now two and a half games back
of the Mariners for the final walkcard spot in the AL.
Giants beat the Rockies ten to eight. San Francisco has
won ten out of their last eleven games. They've jumped
Cincinnati and now Arena in our now four games back
of the Mets for the final waldcard spot in the
National League.
Speaker 1 (35:47):
Eh, thank you very much, Dre, and thank you for
the Hernandez Babel. You're very welcome. It was a good too,
I have done. Yeah. Did you want a key Hernandez bable?
Speaker 6 (35:58):
Good?
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Okay, trying to take it to them. Do you want
to Blake snell one? I got you snell.
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Yoo, get you Blake snell one?
Speaker 1 (36:07):
Oh boy? Is it him playing twitch? Is that the bubblehead?
That's sure because that's all he's done. That was when
he was risking his life right. Coming up next? Two
Big Bowl predictions for two big games in the NFL
Week one, including tomorrow night's class between the Eagles and
the Cowboys. Keep it here, Jason and Mike Fox. Be
sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show
(36:29):
with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven pm
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app Fox
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon Pit a minute at the NFL. Leave yeah.
Two games of preview right now? Okay? First one, what's
(36:51):
fast becoming the Sunday Game of the Week Sunday the
Jets and the Steelers, Jets. Aaron Rodgers return to Met
Life justin field against his old team. Aaron Glenn yesterday
wouldn't say anything about Aaron Rodgers at all, which tells
me that's something personal between Aaron Glenn and Aaron Rodgers.
But Rogers today was asked, Hey, what kind of return
(37:13):
do you expect? Is it more exciting for you to
be back in New York? What's it going to be
like playing at MetLife? And Aaron Rodgers just said, Hey, man,
week one, it's just a football game at this point.
Speaker 7 (37:25):
Not on Wednesday. No, I mean, obviously if you have
to have something otherwise, I mean, speak for myself, I
have to have something otherwise. I don't you know, I'm
probably in the wrong profession. So I'll be definitely excited
to come Sunday. But Wednesday just kind of going through
the week of preparation.
Speaker 1 (37:45):
No, just just week one. What do I care? First
of all, he's lying. Secondly, we'll pick the game on Friday.
But I'll give you one big Bowl prediction for right now.
Stream the Jets defense. They are going to in the
entire game in Aaron Rodgers. Look get that, okay, now,
So it's not gonna be personally for Aaron Rodgers, the
(38:08):
return he is envisioning to MetLife. The Jets defense is
really good, right. They're getting Jermaine Johnson back and he
was playing at a Pro Bowl level to llet hurt
last year. They have guys that get after the quarterback.
Will McDonald is great, you have the Williams brothers. It's
not gonna be a great thing because a Aaron Rodgers
is done and secondly, he hasn't really had a lot
(38:29):
of time, no big game. I'm not worried about game reps. Yeah,
I watched you last year. You were skittish and threw
the football off your back foot all the time. You
don't want to get hit anymore. Not that you want
to get it, but you really really don't want to
get him. Throwing that ball away before I get hit.
It's not gonna quite be the homecoming he is expecting
for Week one. Well, maybe he wasn't a jet all
the way.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
I will say this spread two and a half Steelers
the favorite on the road over under for this one
is five and a half points lower than any other
game on the Week one.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
Late at a robust He's not a jetle up from
his first Ayahuasca till his last. Now, tomorrow we get
the Cowboys and the Eels, let's go. I would love
to find a way to tell you the Cowboys are
gonna keep this close. It can win this game. I'd
love to see that. I'd love to see it. The
(39:18):
best thing I can say for the Cowboys is this
special DraftKings pick six.
Speaker 6 (39:23):
Right.
Speaker 1 (39:26):
They're gonna throw the football the entire game. It's gonna
be they know the only way to get out of
this is with Dak Prescott's right arm, and it's gonna
be a big theme this season. Why I think he's
gonna have a big year throwing the football. He will
have stats, he will have numbers, he will have touchdowns,
and the Cowboys will get clocked. But they're gonna throw
(39:47):
from the beginning of this game. They're never gonna stop.
They don't have the running backs really do any more
than just hey, here's a run to keep you honest
once in a while. And Jerry, being upset with the
Micah Parsons trade, is so pissed about what happened. He's
pissed at Dak for getting hurt. Hey, Dak, I gave
you all this money. You better come through and it's
gonna be We're gonna throw the football, and clearly that's
the best thing for the Cowboys. With three talented targets
(40:09):
he can go get Remember Fergus that a big year
two years ago when Dak was healthy and now you
got Pickins alongside CD Lamb. Yeah, they're gonna put some
points on the board. Doak has a big night tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (40:19):
Over hundred for him is two hundred and forty nine
and a half yards over.
Speaker 1 (40:23):
Give me the over.
Speaker 3 (40:24):
The Cowboys are eight point underdogs and we're looking at
it over under a forty seven and a half. The
only two players that are favored i e. Minus money
to score are Barkley and Hurts. We're not expecting a
lot of oofed but I'm not telling you.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
No, no, I'm just saying from a pick your boy, these
two are gonna score and then like figure it out
from there. Everybody else had good luck, so implied odds
going out of that, but I think they keep it
within the eight. They get that late score to make
it interesting. I'm going thirty eight twenty four, right, and
it's gonna be a blowout the whole game, and Cowboys
(41:04):
get a couple of touchdowns, Dak throws for two or
three scores, three hundred yards. A lot of it's garbage,
but yeah, Daily Fantasy Baby, let's go exit out about
a Fresca exit swollen dome for Mike. I'm Jason, we
made it real, live NFL football tomorrow. How many sacks
from Micah Parsons? How many? Oh? Too soon, too soon,
(41:25):
my buddy, Ben Mallin's next Fox
