Give this you're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):

(00:51):
up at about twenty minutes. All the latest on the
Bill's big win over the Dolphins tonight, plus what could
be coming in Pittsburgh as far as a quarterback. Are
things really okay with the Jets after their lost the
forty nine ers. We got Jay coming up in twenty minutes,
But how about this to kick things off this hour,
We'll have more on Tua his injury situation, leaving Tonight's

(01:14):
lost the Bills with a concussion. Mike McDaniel said following
the game tonight, not sure. We'll take a look at
him tomorrow and see where it's at. Another concussion for Tua.
We've talked about this. It's just an absolute shame that
this is not at least the fifth concussion of his
career that we know about, and all good thoughts to
him as he left the game tonight. But let's focus

(01:36):
now on the Bills because this is really really fun.
Alan and the Bills had a really dominant game tonight, right.
I told you I was worried about the Bills. What
kind of team were they going to be going into
the season. I thought they could be a which way team,
They could be really good still, or they were really
going to struggle because hey, we don't know what our

(01:57):
weapons are going to be. Is Josh Allen at the
point where he can make everybody better? Or are they
going to miss the fon Diggs? Even though the relationship
with Digs and the Bills wasn't always the best, and
after Week one, I could say, I still don't know,
because boy, that should have been an easier win against
the Cardinals, they almost blew it, but after tonight I
feel really good. Why James Cook is fantastic. We'll get

(02:18):
to him in a couple of minutes. Physically, they ran
the football well and Alan the didn't have to run
the ball a lot tonight, but I didn't do it.
Got out to the big lead, but being able to
find receivers Daltonkin Kaid still under used a little bit,
but he caught four passes tonight. Khalil Shakiraz catching passes
the Bills offense looks just fine, but just.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Remember you gotta hang a star on it because for
a half they didn't really look to do a whole lot.

Speaker 1 (02:41):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (02:42):
Look right, So anybody who went over a couple of
times and anybody that was looking to bet overs, particularly
when you're looking at the Bills offense and expecting, all right,
we're getting a shootout over Under was at forty nine.

Speaker 1 (02:52):
So you correctly called the under. Well, you will leave
the rest of it side. For a moment, I said
that would win by ten. At least you got that
right now, You got that one of the teams, sure,
but you know you're expecting fireworks. So we saw look,
by the end of the first quarter, you're settling in
thinking you're just gonna have a shootout, and instead it

(03:13):
becomes a walkover situation. Right, You had the two interception
that gets returned for a touchdown, You have the turnover
on downs, they go for it on fourth down to
it gets sacked. The next play, James cooks off to
the race's forty nine yards and they don't look back.
So you know when it comes to Kincaid and some
of the other things, yeah, you'd like more, but you

(03:34):
also recognize they played about a half of offense. Yeah,
so you know there will be other days ahead, and
that's one of the beautiful things for Buffalo.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
You get out of this.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Seemingly except on the defensive side, because that's where the
concerns are. Right, you may have lost another starter for
a significant period of time. You already lost Milano, you
already lost one of your corners, like you got some
issues where you might have lost another linebacker. But from
the offensive side, everybody comes out healthy and you get
ready for week three.

Speaker 1 (04:01):
So as they get ready for week three, things are
so good in Buffalo. Josh Allen wanted to make sure
everybody knew after the game that everybody's doing their job.
The wide receivers are terrific, but they're doing something very special,
the wide receivers. Here's Josh Allen.

Speaker 5 (04:17):
I'm very proud of the guys how they're handling it.
You know that everybody eats approach. We're just trying to
find the open guy and get everybody involved. But guys
are stepping up to the plate and they're making plays
when their numbers are cold. So gotta keep working. And
again to that's a weird one because you get the
ball so close to your your end zone. Three different possessions.

(04:38):
You know, there's a fourth down stop, there's two turnovers.
We got it over there. So again, it's not going
to be eye popping numbers on the stat sheet, but
when you can put up those type of numbers on
the scoreboard, that's all you care about. But again, as
as time goes on, there's gonna be more opptunity for
our guys to go make some place.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
So don't care about the stat sheet. We just go
out and do our thing. Okay, that was nice. He
also went on Amazon yep on the field and told
the Amazon crew, Hey, the wide receivers do what everything

(05:11):
they can. Nobody cares who gets the credit. He really
wanted to hammer home nobody cares. Again, the wide receivers
are great. We're all in it together. It's a great
group of guys. They're all it's you know, it's a
a committee group at wide receiver. They're all doing great.
He wanted to make sure that that got out there.
It's like the James Harden Darryl Morey's a liar. I'm

(05:33):
gonna say it twice just in case the cameras didn't
pick me up the first time. This is absolutely him
telling everyone we do not miss Stefon Diggs.

Speaker 3 (05:41):
Well, and it start him with the Amazon crew. Was
them stumbling over the word selflessness, right, it's him. It's
Ryan Fitzpatrick and Stony Gonzalez, the three of them trying
to get the word selflessness out because he's trying to
make sure he hammers that point home about everybody's running
the routes. They're downfield blocking, they're down there and making

(06:05):
every play. Guys don't care about the credit. We're just
trying to throw it to the open guy.

Speaker 1 (06:12):
And what was the big question about Stefan Diggs, who
had a very tumultuous history. The last couple of years
of the billsber we had that little holdout, I want
a little bit more money. You know. That stuff with
him and Josh Allen wasn't great because look, where there's smoke,
there's fire. They tried to tamp it down a little bit.
But this is this is a message saying we're all
everybody's got the right attitude now because look, Stefan Diggs's

(06:35):
the guy. He wanted the football, and for the first
couple of years in Buffalo you needed that because hey,
how is Josh Allen going to learn how to make plays?
Digs is one of the top wide receiver, top five
wide receivers in all of the NFL. Whenever he was
in trouble, Diggs was open. How many one on onesday
it's thirty seven, we're going to Everybody knows they're going
to Digs. He's gonna find a way to get open

(06:56):
on a slant. First couple of years in Buffalo were fantastic.
Last couple of years maybe not as much, to the
point where he was really phased out. Over the course
of the last year. He didn't have a regular Steffan
Diggs type year and obviously they let him go.

Speaker 3 (07:09):
This year, Khalil Shakir became a very trusted I mean
the efficiency, like that's the stat that rang in once again.
It was a big deal in tonight's game that they
kept putting up but showing you how he sits down
on his routes and makes it very easy for Josh
Allen to deliver the football.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
There is no doubt in my mind. This is a
message and a shot to Stefan Diggs. We don't miss you,
good luck Houston, and you caught a touchdown feuston this week.
Look first year, oh yeah, Look, I'm always a big
believer in the honeymoon phase. When it went a player, Hey,
it didn't work out here, the relationship got sour, I
go to a new team. I'm a firm believer in
the honeymoon phase. The first year can always be a
great year, and it could be like that. But I

(07:50):
can't argue with the Bills because this looks like a
more complete team from top to bottom, not just Afon Diggs,
but offensively. You know, it really is is sort of
addition by subtraction. We're okay, we don't have to worry
about getting him the football. So now I can go
wherever I want to. I don't have to worry about
if I don't go to him for a series and

(08:10):
he's yelling on the sideline about getting the football, I
don't not to worry. Boll We really should try to
go to him here, even though another play might be
open somewhere.

Speaker 6 (08:18):
Now.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
I was worn looking beginning him, like, well, you don't
have a lot of guys that you have to worry
about the other teams, Like, well, there's nobody have to
worry about here. Dalton Kincaid is the emerging talent at
tight end, but wide receiver wise, Okay, do you have
to put a couple of guys on Khalil Shakir. No,
you know about Curtis Samuel. But maybe Josh Allen is
at the point where he can make them better. And
maybe he won't have the eye popping fantasy stats, but

(08:41):
the Bills will win more games and they'll be a
more dangerous team because he will run the football a
little bit more. They'll rely more on James Cook and
this could be a better, a new way for the
Bills to go forward because they needed to try something
because it was the same thing for the last four
years and they were banging their heads against the wall.
We can't get past Kansas City. We can't do this.
We need to do something a little bit different, And
so they built the team a little bit differently. The

(09:03):
offensive line was extremely powerful tonight. They pushed the Dolphins around,
especially in the first half. And the defense they made
a lot of changes. And the one thing they did
was they got younger. When you get younger, you get faster.
And that's the one thing I saw tonight in this
game is that boy, it was a little bit tougher
for Hill and Waddle to get gain separation to us
throwing to a couple of guys and he probably shouldn't

(09:24):
throw it to when he threw a couple of picks,
but they looked like they moved around the field faster.
When you can increase your speed that way on defensively,
you can do a lot of things. So I everything
the Bills have done so for I'm like, I feel
like the Bills have no problems. Yeah, and it's gonna
wind up being Stefan Diggs. They're gonna say you're the problem,
and and Josh Allen's basically saying, hey, what's what's like, look, look,

(09:46):
I'm not gonna tell you what the difference is in
our team, but I'm gonna tell you all the wide
receivers and who is unselfish, who doesn't care about credit?
All these things we talk about Stefan diggs Man. This
is gonna be fun.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
No, it's gonna be a fun ride, and it's a
curiosity going forward. How much you see growth from the
other wide receivers. Right, Kean Coleman has been a non
factor really to this point, wasn't really much of the
game plan today. Samuel he and Alan missed on what
could have been a touchdown throw. Right, You had a
mismatch where Samuel came out of as a running back

(10:16):
and got the linebacker in coverage and they just didn't connect.
Should have been a walk in. Again those with the
Josh Allen one and a half touchdown total, you're probably
still a little salty about that throw, but you move on.
You had opportunities and you took care of business the
defensive side, Like, that's the war of attrition that you
feared down the road against. Some of these opponents are

(10:38):
gonna take hold on you because the back seven is
really banged up right now, missing a couple of starters
and waiting on words of another.

Speaker 1 (10:47):
But you look at the line and controlling the line
of scrimmage. James Cook as a runner and receiver, we've
talked about him a bunch, and Josh Allen, you know,
he's laying his body on the line and he's not
going down without a fight, and he's like, the big
arm didn't even get tested today, one hundred and thirty
nine yards. Didn't need it, didn't need him to be
gunning all over the place because the defense was aggressive.

(11:09):
The defense forcing turnovers three total, again two with the
miscommunication because two have made good throws on both of those,
and one off a guy like he was throwing a
paintball at him or firing a paintball at him. I
don't know.

Speaker 3 (11:23):
Maybe it was like you know, you paint the end
of a football and you throw it saying, hey, I
can hit that target. Because he did. Unfortunately it bounced
into a Buffalo defender's hands. So it's still some work
to be done defensively, but through two weeks you're feeling
a lot better and they're getting a little bit chesty
of what's going on in that receiving room, which I
think is fun for everybody.

Speaker 6 (11:42):
You know.

Speaker 1 (11:42):
The one thing I will say about Keon Coleman, and
it did look like he got his snaps reduced. And
I want and look again, we're doing the show while
we're talking about this, So I'm sure this is something
that might play out over the course of the next few hours.
But in the first half, I think it was their
first drive of the game where the Bills were I
think it might have before the fourth down play. I
think it might have been right before the fourth down

(12:03):
when they go for it. They throw the touchdown pass
to uh James Cut James Cook.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
They run the ball on third down and Ken Coleman
kind of gives a really halfway effort on a block
and the guy he was supposed to block came in
and made the tackle and stop the Bills from getting
the first down. And they talked a lot about that
on the radio broadcast. You know that, Oh, then that
you got to do a better job blocking. That was
a I can't believe he did that, And I wonder

(12:29):
if that's something that laid into his night tonight. One target,
no catches, not a lot of playing time. If you
don't you don't make that block, you're not gonna be
on the field. So I wonder if a we got
Stefan Diggs with a message and maybe a message to
Keyon Coleman as well, you got a block, don't care
about And I don't think he's walking around caring about
credit at this point, but just hey, you're a rookie

(12:49):
wide receiver. We need you to block on a play.

Speaker 3 (12:51):
You got a block, Well, you got to commit, right
if it's not if your numbers not called out a play,
you still have other responsibilities. And we've seen that a bunch.

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Uh.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
And it's always been an in shoe for rookie running backs.
Right when I used to do the Rookie premiere things
that they do, the trading card photo shoots out here
in LA and I'd go and I'd talk to the
running backs. Yeah, everybody knows how to run the football
and whatever else, But it was always a hey, how
much are you working on your pass blocking? What tricks
do you have that's gonna make you It's like, you know,

(13:21):
you in the mirror, what are you doing? And you'd
have half the guys look at you like you were nuts,
And I was like, no, no, no, that's the important. That's
the only way you're getting on the field is if
you could do some of that. Likewise, with rookie receivers,
the way we do a lot more bubble screens, quick outs,
all of those things. You're gonna need to be able
to block on the outside or you're gonna find your
ass back on the bench pretty fast. And he had

(13:42):
zero targets tonight.

Speaker 1 (13:43):
Yeah, certain teams, Like there's certain teams like, Okay, if
you fail the block, they kind of get it. But
there's certain teams no, no, no, that's part of our identity.
Our wide receivers blocked downfield in Buffalo as well, especially if.

Speaker 3 (13:55):
You're not the A list number one guy, right, I mean,
because look, even tight end positions have been a lot
of fights over years about who blocks, who doesn't, whatever else.
Plenty of those you can go and know research histories
on that. But for the wide receiver position, yeah, if
you're a guy that's normally pulling in one hundred yards,
then yeah, you probably get a free pass, you know,
if you do an olay block or whatever. But go

(14:15):
back to guys like Brandon Marshall former Baron Jet and
the Puppy Monkey Baby guy himself. I mean, he made
a lot of catches and a lot of money for
his aptitude there, but a lot of the accolades and
love he had from people around the league was because
he was willing to block and get dirty, get his
hands dirty if he needed.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
To exit out about a Fresca exit swalling down The

Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon live Fromthetirack dot Com Studio US. The
Bills beat up the Dolphins thirty one to ten to
a tongue off. I Looa leaves the game with a
concussion at least the third of his career, potentially fourth.

(16:14):
Gonna break it all down now NFL on Fox Insider.
Extraordinary Jake Lazer, Yeah, who before we get to the
game tonight. Uh, Jay, a lot in common with all
of us here in La Awoke in this morning around
seven thirty with an earthquake that was a round of five.
Jake was doing.

Speaker 6 (16:35):
Man, it was it was an episode. It was a
block away come house.

Speaker 2 (16:40):
Who walk up?

Speaker 6 (16:41):
There's literally one block aways kenon dune. We finally gonna
get my dress up, but one block away and it
was something like seven thirty more will at the house man.
It sorted shaking like crazy, and and then we heard
things like fall up and break well. My wife was
laying in bed and like you get woken up, so

(17:02):
she just jumped up to like run for covering. I
had a grabber and bring it back because I didn't
know what was broken in the house. Luckily, things that
that fellow was just pictures and none of them is massed,
but one of her good thirty thirty seconds and then uh,
and then we probably had about five or six you know,
after shocks. After that it was pretty wild. You know,
it was definitely wild.

Speaker 1 (17:22):
Oh yeah, no, and then you're up, like, hey, what
did you want to go back to?

Speaker 6 (17:25):
Know?

Speaker 1 (17:25):
I'm up now, I'm some stuff.

Speaker 6 (17:27):
After that one, and then you know, here's what I
love to look. I'm a New York time, right, So
first time I had to threat to, you know, out
here in LA. But then you're watching the news and
people are like impairentive for like I tweeted it just
to make sure every it is okay, you know, and
people are like, oh, that's nothing five point two. Please,
It's like you're earthquake shaming me when you're and then

(17:50):
like people on the news like, hey, uh, you know
it was a really a four point seven. It wasn't
a five point two, and you know, a fast the
case and this is this, like do tell that's how
we feel. Like, you know, it's like, hey, you're something
fall off in your house. It may have well, it
may have fallen off and around. There's just it's pretty

(18:10):
funny how people people react in LA. Again, I'm a
New york Er, so at one point, Euro for me
is like, oh damn. But you take something from LA
you bring them to New York and you see a
couple of rats, they'll crap themselves. I'm okay with it,
all right.

Speaker 1 (18:25):
Well, hey, clearly, uh the earthquake hit Miami tonight in
the form of the Buffalo Bills as they come into
this game, maybe things are okay for them. Without Stefan Diggs,
they were physical. James Cook was really good, Like, all
of a sudden, the Buffalo Bills look like they might
be okay? Jay, you know what, what did you see
with this?

Speaker 6 (18:42):
I thought they're gonna be like, oh, long then their
defense always been strong, and anytime you got a quarterback
Josh Allen, you're going to be okay. It doesn't you know,
It's like, look they're looking the Chiefs. They lost Tyreek
Hill and people said, oh my god, they're gonna lose
a weapon like that. And you know, a guy's name
the top ranked player in the league this year an
NFL network. But obviously they've won two super Bowls without them,

(19:03):
So it's it's more it's a quarterback driven league. It's
not a receiver driven league. And a guy like Josh Allen,
he is a good and as long as they have him,
they're always going to be in it. But you know, look,
I don't overreact or underreact to anything early on the season. Really,
it's like, man, it takes you know, a lot of
people don't practice the preseason. It takes a while to

(19:25):
get going. But they are definitely showing they're clicking a
lot earlier. And I thought, you know a lot of
other teams are there. They really they're looking good and
they just and I think what they needed was confidence
and they're building it early.

Speaker 3 (19:39):
Conversely, Jay, now we all you know, have the hold
our breath moment as to a tongue of a Bailoa has
to leave the field looked in good spirits as he
met with his teammates. But once again we're having discussions
and seeing the video playbacks of his previous concussions.

Speaker 6 (19:52):
Yeah, I first of all, it's tough no matter what, right,
it's ugh and you go on. You want to make
a player understand it. Whenever you see a guy with
that much, you know, d trauma, you get concerned about it.
And yeah, I know, you see him and you're okay,

(20:14):
he's walking around, he's up, but it doesn't it doesn't
work by to right. I've gotten knocked out a boxing match.
Guy that was I had a two month suspension. It's
probably worth not going I ever had. But I was
up immediately after doing an interview right there in the ring.
If I hadn't know idea what was going on, and
I kind of kind of did, but then it sinks
in after and so I don't want to like medically

(20:37):
say oh he's great. Here, he's not great. That was
a tough one. That was a tough one to see.
You's a tough one to watch when his arm locked
up immediately, I'm like go moll and a half. Oh,
he's out, he's tossed. And I think with a guy
with a history like this, you do. And I said
it's weak two. Whether it's weak to a week twenty
doesn't matter. You want to make sure first and foremost

(20:58):
the player is gonna be right if the humans can be.

Speaker 1 (21:00):
Right, Jay, just to make sure not to go Obviously,
we have to wait and see what the diagnosis is
going forward. But going back when you were there, did
the Dolphins like was this a thing? Like did they
Is that like in the back of my minds Okay,
hey two has got the concussion. Is that is that
top of mind thing for them that we have to
watch out for that? Or is that, hey, we just
want to go play football.

Speaker 6 (21:20):
Well no, I mean, look, when you go out there
in field, you have to look like they were going
out on the fields and look, it was a situation
where man, two, I have to know better, like I'm gonna.

Speaker 2 (21:29):
Fly, I gotta protect myself.

Speaker 6 (21:30):
Yeah, to protect yourself, that's when you've had these situations,
when you have worked on it in the past, You've
got to man, you've got to protect yourself. You have
to do so. Now I'm never gonna. I want to
make it clear I'm not criticizing him, because when a
dude has reckless abandon for his body, I got respect
for him. I do like I get it. You know.

(21:52):
I always say there's honor and honor in fighting hurt,
and I've always preached to our guys honor in fighting hurt.
But it is our ability to to make sure that
we are like, man, you got you gotta protect yourself,
especially a situation like that. But you know, it's interesting
too because there's a guy also that they looked at
for a long contract extension and you're like, man, you're

(22:13):
you're in a tough situation in the way, because you
do you see the talent, you see the leadership, you
see what he's turned into. But he's one hit away
from saying, oh my gosh, like what now, and that
that money is guaranteed. So it's a really interesting situation.
I thought it was. I thought the human side of

(22:34):
the Dolphins to believe in him and shown after all
that was fantastic. I thought the business side of the Dolphins.
I don't know the right answer there, because when you
are talking about the brain, there's no right I'm like, man,
I It's not like, hey, if you do a plus
five equal C when you deal with the.

Speaker 4 (22:54):
Brain undred percent.

Speaker 3 (22:56):

at Jay Glazer where you find him in the Twitter verse.

Speaker 4 (23:16):
Uh Jay, you know you you tight.

Speaker 3 (23:18):
In the world of Pittsburgh, it became the Boswell era.
As much as we wanted to talk Russell Wilson justin fields,
it became about the kicker and the defense seems as
so long as Watts there were talking about but that's
just it. So long as t J Watts up there
in wreaking havoc, it's chaos.

Speaker 6 (23:36):
That was Mike Tomlin. As the winnings you'll ever have
kid meet was that was Mike Key all the way.
That couldn't be more of a skillers win right there,
and look, I I that's what the skillers are. The
Steelers have. I will say this whenever I go on

(23:57):
my training camp tour, everybody asked me, hey, who the
good I don't know who looks I'm there for a
day and I'm day drinking half the time. I admit it. Okay,
So what I can't understand is cultures, right, I can
pick up cultures. So the one thing I did tell
people is when I went around and they said, who

(24:18):
looks shot at? Because I also, here's the other thing.
When you're a training camp, right, I don't know what
you're working on, but at least I know I don't know.
So when you see other meat here report six. This
guy had a bad day. This guy had a bad
day in practice. Man, when we're getting somebody ready for
a fight and we're smart and we're doing like if
we have a boxer and we're going to fight a wrestler,
we've got to do a bunch of wrestling stuff. He

(24:39):
could look awful for law, He's going to look terrible
until he picked it up. Right, So says in there,
I don't know what you're working on, So I don't
know who really looks good performance lives and practices they need.
We're working on new tools or new game plan. I
don't know, but I can tell culture. And the one
thing I told everybody, as I can't tour around it up.

(25:00):
The two cultures are violence and how is a little
feel where the Steelers of the raves the cultures of violence.
I love that, and that is what the Steelers have
always kind of gotten by off. So you know, they
don't need a guy to go out there and play
like pet Bo to make sure that they're always winning.

(25:20):
They have this culture of violance that makes you hate
playing the Steelers, and you saw it out on the
other day with you know, even up a backup quarterback,
we're still going to have no learning curve. But by
the way, I will tell you there's too justin Fields,
Arthur Smith and might come and love them and love them.
They do think there's something there for quarterback of the futures.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
All right, Jay, let's end here. Let's you know, being
in New York, I got to ask you about the
Jets coming off the loss on Monday night. Aaron Rodgers looked,
as you see, I feel okay because Aaron Rodgers looked
all right, and whatever the Jets do this year is
going to be on his shoulders. How did you feel
after seeing him? Where they're at? Everything you've seen going
there visiting what was about.

Speaker 6 (25:58):
I think everything I could have gotten went wrong to
them that day. Their personnel's way, like Joe Douglass put
together really good personnel over there. Defensively, they're a way
better team than that. For whatever reason, their best players
just double that day and it was just it was
like the imperfect storm. I think the Jets didn't show
who they really are. I do think it's very very

(26:21):
correctable because what you do when you just look at
the personnel may have that personnel fantastic, from quarterback to
running back, to receivers to cornerback to pass rush, the
live I mean, they're fantastic. By your thoughts that man.
They sometimes you show up kint like Miami tonight, right,

(26:42):
but even before Doo got hurt, just nothing was going
right and their best players death warm performing the way
they're supposed to, and they know they're going to be
better from those guys. I think that's what the Jets are.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
He's on Twitter at Jay Glazer, That is at Jay Glazier.
Check him out there as well as Hey, you did
Jerry Ferrara's podcast. You talked about Brady did a lot
of fun stuff there. I saw Jerry fer Matt Loner.

Speaker 6 (27:07):
My guys, all right, Jake, I train Gerry Ferara is
the first actor ever training in boxing. Help him. Uh
he was gonna play Artur guy in a movie. The
NFL player ever trade. So there we go.

Speaker 1 (27:30):
Wow, hey, stear it up. That's your next podcast. They
fight on your podcast. They fight each other.

Speaker 6 (27:39):
I'm totally about that.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Let's go that will come to play by play. That's
the next Jay Laser podcast. Culture of Violence with Jay Laser,
And that's what it is is people he knows. Take
it easybody, We'll talk to you next week.

Speaker 4 (27:54):
Be good Jay, next Jay.

Speaker 1 (27:57):
Now, that's a podcast. That's a pot up Matt. He
brings two people on and they don't know about it,
but then they have to get in and fight each O.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
Why are you handing me these oversized clos.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
I thought it was just coming on to talk college
where I thought this was, Oh, we're going I'm gonna fight, Okay,
all right, then, okay, why are you trying to fit
me for a mouthguard? Why are you sizing up my mouth?
I can't talk with him out. Oh by the way,
just speaking of mouthguards, I like the fact that he
was making his way around Twitter tonight, Keon Coleman had
two more mouthguards than he had catches tonight.

Speaker 4 (28:28):
Hey yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
To our records that he had catches we look or
more blocks that he picked up, that is true. Now,
big thing that Jay threw in there. Hey, Mike Tomlin,
they love Justin Fields. Whoa look, we said it the
other night. This may be the last week Russell Wilson

(28:52):
has ever considered a starting quarterback in the NFL. Because
if the Steelers play again and they wait, look, Tomlin
football right, and Justin Field's plays well enough, again, they're
not going back to Wilson unless something happens in Fields
gets injured, because you're two and zero, you've won your
first two kids, you're really gonna go back to another
quarterback now, You're not.

Speaker 3 (29:11):
As long as he plays efficient football. That's the thing.
As long as Fields because remember even when he had
a couple of big plays and played fairly well in
the exhibition, when they've had those fumbled snaps, Tomlin was
quick to point that out. So if he has a
bad play, you know, has one of these Will Levis
t a moments and gives the ball away job. Ball

(29:33):
security is the one thing that could take it away.
Ball security is job security, right, that is, that is
number one rule in sports, but particularly for the way
and style that Mike Tomlin wants to play. I mean,
very interesting opportunity against Denver, but not surprised, justin bial
keeps talking about how this is he's found his home
and he's grinning from year to year and was all

(29:54):
during training camp. So the good times role.

Speaker 1 (29:57):
This could be it for Russell Wilson. Now to a
guy who who also has found his home. He has
been with us here. He sleeps under the desk like
George Costanza.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
Each Galleries there, Georgie.

Speaker 1 (30:10):
Got what's trending right now in the wide world of sports.
Thing is when Costanzas slept at Yankee Stadium.

Speaker 8 (30:14):
The concessions were closed, So really, what's the advantage, honestly, Stanza.
The Yankees were home on Fox TV tonight and won
in ten innings two to one over Boston. Juan Soto
the game winning single his one hundred first RBI the year.
The Yankees are first in the Al East, two games
ahead of Idol Baltimore. It was a great night for

(30:34):
the Twins. Cleveland lost at home five to two to
Tampa Bay Guardians. Of the first place team in the
AL Central four games over Kansas City and Houston beat
Oakland today six to three, by the way with four
runs in the bottom of the eighth. Saint Louis and
Colorado with wins today. Miami got a victory tonight. Texas
was a five to four winner at Seattle. Kumar Rocker

(30:55):
of Texas was their starting pitcher in his major league
debut no decision back from the Tommy john On surgery.
He went four innings, one run, allowed seven strikeouts. Milwaukee
a three to nothing winner at San Francisco. Four Mountain West.

Speaker 9 (31:08):
Conference schools are due to join the new PAC twelve
in a couple of years. College football tonight saw Arizona
State come from behind to win at Texas State thirty
one twenty eight. South Alabama eighty seven to ten winners
against Northwestern State, which is zero to three. This was
a twenty four to ten lead after the first quarter
for South Alabama eighty seven to ten the final and

(31:28):
a blowout in the NFL at Miami tonight, the Buffalo
Bills beat the Dolphins thirty one to ten. James Cook
three touchdowns in the first half for the game eleven
carries seventy eight yards and Miami quarterback to a tongue
I Looa limped off in the third quarter with another concussion.
He finished with one touchdown pass three interceptions, including a
pick six. Brown's tight end David and Joku did not

(31:50):
practice today due to a bad ankle. Dallas tight end
Jake Ferguson did not practice sprained mcl and Texans tight
end Dalton Schultz misspractice again with the bad add A
wide receiver for the Bengals T Higgins has head a
hamstring injury misspractice again today. Giants wide out Maleik Neighbors
was limited today by a knee injury, and Seattle running

(32:11):
back Kenneth Walker misspractice again with an oblique injury. Final
item on two quarterbacks. Russell Wilson, Steelers QB with the
calf injury, says he's getting closer to a return, but
he's been limited at practice this week, and Jordan Loved
The Packers QB did not practice due to his knee injury.

Speaker 1 (32:27):

Show with my best friend Mike Carmen live from the
Tirack dot Com Studios. Coming up next, we'll have a
big bold prediction for the rest of the season in
the NFL coming off of something from tonight's Bill's win
over the Dolphins, plus what should be next for two
a tongue of Iloa who left to night's game with
a concussion. That's next right here, Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 1 (33:02):
Fox Sports Radio. The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon Live from the Tirack dot Com studios,
Big bold prediction coming off tonight's big win by the
Bills over the Dolphins, and we'll get to Tua. You're
jumping on board my Bills to the super Bowl bandwagon. No, no,
come on, I told you I feel a lot better

(33:22):
about the I feel better about the Bills than I
have in a long time. Right, they look like they've
remade their team, especially now that Josh Allen's talking all sorts.
But I know, right, yeah, all theirs are unselfish. No
one cares who gets the credit I want to make.
I'm gonna say this at every stop at the post game,
he's just waving by fourteen. Anybody want to interview me,

(33:43):
I'm gonna I'll talk about about unselfish just from wide receivers. Look,
one of the reasons why the Bills played so well. Look,
we had a huge game tonight from James Cook. He
had three touchdowns, didn't really play in the fourth quarter.
Don't be surprised when at the end of the year,
James Cook has the best year of any running back
in the NFL.

Speaker 4 (34:03):
And this is.

Speaker 1 (34:05):
Part of the talent that he's got because he's a
guy that is a bell cow running back, stays on
the field in passing downs too, had the passing receiver
receiving touchdown tonight. There's not many bell cow guys out there,
but all the other players who are there who can
give you a lot of production, they're all gonna split time.
A chen is gonna split time when when guys are healthy,

(34:26):
and even he was, you know, kind of in and
out tonight. Christian McCaffrey is already hurt, right, what kind
of really, Derek Henry gonna have another big year. I
don't see it. Uh, by the end of the year.
James who, by the way, was the fourth leading rusher
in the NFL last year. Very quietly. It's not like
you're you're you're looking for a guy to take a
huge jump like the last half of last year he was.
He was aces man. Uh, don't be surprised you look

(34:48):
up the end of the year and say, this is
the guy who doesn't come off the field. He is dynamic,
he is fast, he is tough, he is the full
package at running back. He'll have the best year of
any running back in the NFL like that. I'm gonna
give you a couple of alternatives. Number one, Saquon Barkley.
Injury history certainly has to be considered, but the opportunity
and he's not coming off the field fronty of those

(35:10):
guys that are in that backfield right, so long as
he's healthy, he's touching the ball twenty five to third.
Still every week, you still see that we'll find a
way to get Boston Scott or gain Well in or
you know, Wilbert Montgomery. You know, maybe you got Wilbur.

Speaker 3 (35:22):
Montgomery nicely done. You know, back when the duel threat
back he and Roger Craig didn't quite get the love
they they should have and maybe should be reevaluated for
their contributions to our fair game.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
Uh, your guy, Brice Hall Electric, I love Bresall. When
it comes down to it, they're gonna trust the right
arm of Aaron Rodgers. Yeah you're ready, you're ready for
my third one? Go ahead, ready, I'm getting zag ready.
I'm going to guess who it is, Darnell Autry.

Speaker 3 (35:52):
You want to get Damian Anderson or one of my
other guys.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
No, no, no, go ahead.

Speaker 2 (35:58):
We should have it on.

Speaker 3 (35:59):
He does some work in Arizona. I'll go see him
in a couple of weeks. Lamar Jackson.

Speaker 1 (36:06):
One hund twenty two yards in the opener, lean mean
into the open field like like Darnfll and rushing like
Dereck Henry. Okay, but the potential is there for Lamar
Jackson to be that guy. So there you go again.
James cook Man, watch out. Uh now to a tongue off.

(36:26):
I low a left to night's game with what is
at least the third concussion of his career. Remember the
first one, they didn't really call a concussion. The Dolphins
didn't handle it well. He came out to play way
too soon. Got a concussion again. Here's another one. And
I've already seen a lot of NFL greats have already
said him, Now, he's got to retire. He's got to retire,
like a lot like.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
I couldn't get to a keyboard.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
I want to be the first person to come out
there and say you should retire, right, Tony Gonzalez, you
should retire. RG three, you should retire. Okay, okay, let's
just stop for a second, the real truth of what
should happen now, right, because like I a big hot
take as much as it, but I want to be there, Oh,
the first one to say you should retire. Take some
time now. It's early in the season, this is your

(37:08):
third concussion at least, And I don't mean like, oh,
take the ten days between now the next game, take
a little bit more time, Take take the next two
three weeks, and sit back and think, I know I
want to continue to play. Is it worth it? Can
I protect myself? Can I stop myself from getting these concussions?

(37:30):
Because had he slid, he would have been okay. And
that's the big thing is that it was a fourth
down play. He was trying to get the first down.
I'm sure he thought if I try to slide, I
may not start my slide before the first down marker,
so he goes into DeMar Hamlin's chest and shoulder, so
it was really awkward.

Speaker 3 (37:49):
Also, the way Hamlin was moving, maybe he thought I'm
closer to the end zone than I.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
Yeah, it was right.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (37:55):
For you and I, it's like, all right, you still
have another four yards or so that you have to traverse.
But for him it's like or two strides and I
can take handling with me the way he's coming at me.

Speaker 4 (38:03):
Instead, you get your.

Speaker 3 (38:06):
Gets compressed and we see what happens with his hands
and everything else.

Speaker 1 (38:10):
I am always eminently okay in the regular season. If
a running quarterback, or a dual threat quarterback, or a
quarterback with injury history, if you make a business decision
in the regular season, I'm okay with that. Make a
business decision. You got to run around to stay around, right,
that's the old line. Make a business decision. It's okay
if you slide, And if you just missed that first down,

(38:31):
yeah it sucks that you started to slide. But bottom
line is you're already down twenty one points. The Dolphins
would rather have you in your line. That's the rest
of the season. I get it. But if I can,
if I can take time, if I can take the
next three weeks and think about, Okay, I really have
to do this and this is my way forward, or
if I can't, I have to think about it, like,

(38:53):
just take some time and just think about where you're at.
Don't need to sit here and retire tomorrow, which when
everybody seems to retire time, But just think about it
and think about going forward. If you can continue to
protect yourself, because that's what is for all quarterbacks, Can
I protect myself well?

Speaker 3 (39:08):
And that's the thing, right is There's been so much
made about all the processes and procedures and ways that
he'd tried to learn how to fall take a hit.
You know, I joked after my daughter heard her risk
playing soccer, It's like, I need to teach you how
to take a wwe bump right where you falling back
like a turtle, where the hands are up, they don't
get anywhere near the mat or the turf. For Tua,

(39:30):
all of that had been in process, yet he gets
hurt in the conventional way trying to gain the extra
yard into DeMar Hamlin, which is one of the weird
circumstances of the NFL gods sent.
