Speaker 3 (01:32):
Whoa, whoa, whoa paint whoa whoa.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
I mean what you did. I know we're in safe harbor,
but wow, man, come on, you can't just say stuff
like that.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
That's what you did. You set me on fire.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
Nobody is nobody is safe from that.
Speaker 3 (01:50):
You started it, jerk boy. Okay, I can have your
words played back to you.
Speaker 1 (01:57):

painton me is the bad guy, Jue. That's kind of
how it goes, man, that's kind how it goes. You

So we're surviving past tonight with no NHL, no NBA
until tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (02:28):
Right, So one day is okay?
Speaker 5 (02:29):
Right?
Speaker 1 (02:29):
One day is all right. I mean Aaron Gordon, okay,
you have more time off that you need, but.
Speaker 4 (02:33):
Uh so, hey he gave it the Oak College try
and then was mad, he did you know we need more.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
Days off you?
Speaker 1 (02:40):
Hey, listen, I am the first just Aaron Gordon who
says after you've heard on the promo all the time, saying, hey,
I wish we had more days off in between games.
If I'm Adam Silver, right, I mean he doesn't want
to do any things. He wants to do nothing. But
I say, you know, here's the thing. I can give
you guys all the days off you want. I can
give you guys all the day We could play sixty
five game games a year.
Speaker 3 (03:00):
Everything be good. You guys got to give back some money?
Speaker 1 (03:02):
Oh oh okay, well, because you know, with having less games,
the owners are going to make less money, so they
got to take less pup.
Speaker 3 (03:10):
I could do that for you, but you got to
give some money back. Oh oh well, I don't know
about that. Oh okay, okay, No, it's bad math. Neither
side giving up that much. No, no, no.
Speaker 4 (03:22):
Let's run out players twelve through fifteen and a couple
of G leaguers for the final ten fifteen games.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
So while we are waiting, well again, we have the
night night off, the night we have we have. Look,
I got both my teams in the Eastern Conference Finals
in the NHL and the NBA. I'm dealing with that
sat stuff right now, dealing with a lot of stuff. Yeah,
it's okay, it's may. I got bigger I got bigger
fish to fry white now. Man, I got the Knicks
and the Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Finals.
Speaker 3 (03:46):
I got a lot of stuff happening. Man, I'm done.
Speaker 1 (03:48):
I'm like when when bulldoor when they're on the mound,
going Okay, we need a live rooster, right take the
curse with the Hextra's glove. No one knows who to
get Jimmy and Millie for a for a wedding president.
We're dealing with a lot of stuff here. I'm dealing
with a lot of stuff. How can I even have
a day when I'm locked in on the Nix and
the Hurricanes, Like, how can.
Speaker 3 (04:05):
I the Canes or the Knicks next show? Oh no,
come on, stop with that. Stop. The Panthers are pretty good,
That's what I mean. I think the Hurricanes have been
a bigger chance. Yeah, yeah, stop.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
We're gonna be We're sweeping the Pacers, right, We're gonna
sweep the Pacers. Nix in foro mix in four and
unlike the Celtics series, we won't have to go from
Nixon four chance to Nixon five, chance to Nixon six
chance Nixon four.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
It's happening.
Speaker 4 (04:35):
Well, sometimes you just gotta go with, well what you got.
I'm trying to find series odds for you. I'm waiting
for is.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
Tomorrow night when Rick Carlisle starts, uh comp complaining about
the uh the the officiating nights.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
I was Friday.
Speaker 4 (04:52):
Oh yeah, no, no, that's a that's a long lead
kind of story right there.
Speaker 1 (04:56):
Okay, because I wanted to see if like that was actually,
you know, gonna be tomorrow or not.
Speaker 3 (05:00):
Like I want to make.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Sure, well, you know, Michael Malone's gonna do some broadcasting.
Speaker 3 (05:05):
Mike, Yeah, you know, that's pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (05:08):
I wish I really wish he was doing the uh,
you know, the Nuggets games.
Speaker 3 (05:11):
That's too bad. Yeah, I wish that would happen. So
a Nick sweep is about ten to one.
Speaker 1 (05:19):
Okay, all right, ten to one, ten two to one,
nix in four ten two one, nix in But the
big NBA story that he does involve the Knicks and
the Pacers, and it involves the fan that went viral
over the course of the past few days because this
fan who shows up on the streets in New York
(05:40):
following the Knicks victory over the Celtics in Game six,
gets garbage thrown at him because he's wearing a PACER's
jersey and he looks like he's engaging with them walking away,
and Knicks fans start throwing garbage at the guy, and
there's no place for that. Would be the first one
to tell you. I'm not going to say, well, Knicks fans, no,
no for it right, no place where I felt bad
(06:01):
for the guy. No one deserves to have garbage thrown
on him. And this is like big bags of garbage.
This is not like, hey, I picked out a soda
can from the garbage and throw No. This is like
big blue bags of garbage which are left on the
street overnight for you know, because that's what businesses do.
They leave stuff out and they then the garbage trucks
come and get it. So this guy's getting hit with
(06:22):
all kinds of garbage. I say, no, I can't do that.
And it got to the point where it got the
attention of Tyrese Haliburton, who went on Pat McAfee show
earlier today and surprise the fan who did an interview
with McAfee by giving him two tickets to Game four.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
So it's great, you're gonna get to go see the
last Pacers game of the year.
Speaker 1 (06:41):
So he's going, he's going, He's going game going to
Game four, which is really cool, right, really cool thing.
Speaker 3 (06:48):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (06:48):
And I don't want to say I don't want to
come across as as victim blaming in this, don't want
to come across as at all, because there's no place
to throw guard. I mean, you shouldn't throw garbage. People
make Knicks fans look awful.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
Did anybody make a video where they're throwing garbage at
him in a place I'm only happy winning?
Speaker 3 (07:07):
Awful? I think you're gonna say Kicks fans of garbage.
That was your line for us, well too, Okay, so.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
There's no place for that, And I'm being there's no
place for that. It makes Knicks fans look bad, it
makes all the fans look bad. There's no place for that.
But then I saw the interview he did and what
he talked about, you know, wearing the Pacers jersey into
throngs of Knicks fans. He said that he wrapped the
Pacers after the Knicks knocked out the Celtics and he
got a little too close to the enemy.
Speaker 3 (07:38):
Quote.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
I don't know if I can go into the mob,
but I go close by and feel the energy. Get
ready for the series, make the series even better. When
the Pacers beat the Knicks, they got me. Okay, So
let me just say this. This is not again not
You should be able to wear a jersey anywhere you
want to, should be able to wear it without having
to worry about stuff.
Speaker 3 (07:56):
Right.
Speaker 1 (07:57):
I live in the real world. And if you're gonna
a jersey and you're gonna go when you know Knicks
fans are emotional coming out of this and all the
stuff is going on, and if you're gonna go willingly
antagonize them, dude, stuff can happen to you.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Man. I'm not saying you deserve it, not for a second.
Speaker 1 (08:16):
But you have to make a smarter decision and go, Hey,
maybe wearing a PACER's jersey and getting in clothes with
a bunch of Knicks fans, maybe that's not the smartest
thing to do, right, maybe unless I want to do
something like this where I got attention and I get
tickets to game four. But that's like because the guy
doesn't run away. He kind of walks away, like he's
(08:38):
almost like he's taunting them a little bit, like if
you're worried for your safety, you run away. But no,
but he was there because he kind of wanted to be,
So I gotta say listen if that's you know, look,
I don't want to see a guy get hit with
garbage all of that. But at the same you know,
you have to understand that if you make a bad
decision like that, that can happen that is outside of
your control. Because this is sometimes how how many fights
(09:00):
do you have to see it games where where guys
come out wearing the other team's jersey and they say
something and someone runs up to them from behind and
and sucker punches them, or their big brawls. It happens
all the time, right, So maybe make a smarter decision
then wearing a PACER's jersey walk around a bunch of
Knicks fans and unless you wanted to do that, and
if you want to do that, well, okay, Unfortunately.
Speaker 3 (09:22):
This is what can happen.
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Right, So I'm saying the guy, you got to make
a smarter decision that unless it's what he wanted, Unless
he wanted something like this, and get it. And look
now he is getting tickets and they again, not running
away from the fans and getting garbage thrown at him.
If someone threw garbage at me and there was a
there was a bunch of fans behind me and they
were doing that, man, i would run as fast as
I could because I know I'm not safe in that situation.
Speaker 3 (09:44):
But this is how this is how it unfolded.
Speaker 1 (09:47):
So there's a little bit of dude, make a smarter decision,
if you know, in situations like this, unless it's what
you wanted. Yeah, I mean, throw a garbage at but
you wanted to get into it like you wanted to
get into it. You wanted to feel that energy. You
want to say, I don't think he wanted garbage. He
wanted that back and forth with the Knicks that I
wanted to feel the energy all that. That's what I'm
saying that that stuff that's gonna happen if you make
(10:07):
a decision like that. Well, but that's the thing right
is you know, be prudent, be judicious, be understanding of
the situation here, and by his own words, he's kind
of baiting them, right, I wanted to be in that energy.
Speaker 3 (10:22):
Well you know that that energy.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
With a large crowd, it just takes one guy to
be out of sorts, and in this case, you found
a handful that decided to take it.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
In a whole other level.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
So certainly it never justified to be a jackass and
literally taking garbage from the schwarma houses and restaurants lining
up the streets or the bodegas, as we so love
to say.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
But it's the the.
Speaker 4 (10:52):
Idea of all right, you wore the jersey you were
agent provocateur, because what was he wearing before he left
the was.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
That jacket was what I mean was the jacket zipped up.
And then all of a sudden it became a all right,
now let's go uh so, yeah, Died, be careful what
you wish for. You got your engagement, you got now
you've got a lot of sympathy and and and support
and and it brings to bear the larger topic and
we talked about it a little bit with the the
(11:24):
Caitlin Clark Angel ree situation and the investigator egation going
on that we'll get back to uh in a few
Is it only takes a couple of people for things
to take things sideways, UH, and to bring negative attention
to it all and show the wrong side of fan behavior, fanaticism,
(11:45):
UH come to come to roost and so antagonizing a
bunch of folks who are obviously very excited. How big
did that crowd get did they estimate in the streets?
I mean those overhead shots were we're stuff out of
video games, zombie apocalypse? Well, the rats, I think you
add once?
Speaker 3 (12:06):
Yeah, yeah, I know it is. It can be New
York rats still among U.
Speaker 4 (12:11):
It's still at the top of the rat rankings last
we did them so and.
Speaker 3 (12:14):
The millions of rats don't forget them.
Speaker 1 (12:16):
Don't forget them. They also count as well the latest.
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
So it's it's that that idea of you go into
the belly of the beast.
Speaker 5 (12:26):
UH.
Speaker 1 (12:27):
You're hoping for the best and a little bit of
back and forth and trash talking, but you have to
be prepared for the worst.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
And in this.
Speaker 4 (12:33):
Case, he's lucky on some level that all it was
were a couple of bags of garbage.
Speaker 3 (12:40):
Yeah, and that's really sad to say it that way.
Speaker 6 (12:42):
Yeah, it's it's again, it's a thing, you know, it's
a thing and making good decisions unless you know, look,
you wanted to get that, you wanted to smoke with
the Knicks fans, and it seems like he really wanted
that that kind of energy.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Okay, you know, Okay, I mean, I don't know what
else to say. And you got takets to a gain.
So now, so now that's how he gets it?
Speaker 3 (13:02):
Exit? How about a Fresca exit swollen Dome. The Jason Smith.

Mike Harmon.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Yeah, and.
Speaker 1 (15:03):
This is now day three of Caitlin Clark Angel Rees
foul gate being the biggest story in basketball.
Speaker 3 (15:11):
Yeah. The Knicks are great, the Knicks running, You're great. Yeah,
Oklahoma Cities. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (15:15):
Caitlin Clark's foul of Angel Rees continues to gain headlines,
and especially with what we saw late tonight that Caitlin
Clark and Indiana Fever both put out a statement involving
the investigation going on in which it was reported that
some racial statements were hurled at Angel Reese the Sky
(15:36):
after there after, Caitlin Clark and Angel Rees had the
dust up during their game on Saturday one by the
Fever ninety three fifty eight, both Caitlyn Clark and the
Fever saying listen, there's no place for this in WNBA.
Speaker 3 (15:50):
The WNBA put out a statement about this over the weekend.
And we you know, we've seen the.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
Chicago Sky talk about this. Brianna Stewart talked about it.
We'll get to this part of it coming up in
a few minutes, But let's deal with the beginning first,
And like they say in Princess Bride.
Speaker 3 (16:05):
You gotta go back to the beginning. The deal the beginning,
and then we'll get to this part of the investigation.
Speaker 1 (16:11):
The foul play involving Caitlyn Clark and Angel Reese was
very simple, right. Everybody is kind of looking in different
directions making it about one thing, but it's pretty simple.
Why did that happen? Why did all of this? Why
is this now a three day story? Because Angel Reese
(16:32):
pushed one of Kitlyn Clark's teammates in the back on
a previous possession. Everybody wanted a foul call, they didn't
have it. Angel Reese gets the ball, she's going in
for what could be an uncontested layup, and Caitlyn Clark
holds her down by the arms and Angel Reese tries
to draw the foul, falls down, gets embarrassed because she
fell and flopped, gets up and starts getting mad at
(16:54):
Caitlyn Clark. Okay, so this happened because Caitlyn Clark, you know,
we talked about it earlier, Mike, you brought this up.
Kitlyn Clark wanted to defend her teammate from a hard
foul and say, hey, you're not gonna do that to
my teammate. She was standing right behind Angel Reese when
she did it. You're not gonna do it, and Angel
Reiche responded the way she did because Caitlyn Clark lives
rent free. In Angel Reese's head everything, Angel rees, I'm
(17:18):
sure she she has this. She kind of thinks she's
on the same level as Caitlyn Clark, or she she
feels like she's not okay. Caitlyn Clark is the show, right,
one hundred percent, She's the one the WNBA is about. Right,
everything that Angel Reese does with Caitlyn Clark, she loses.
She loses the popularity contest, she loses the relevancy contest,
(17:39):
she loses what she means to her team on the court,
she loses who the better player is? Right, Caitlyn Clark
is the show. Angel Reese makes her biggest headlines when
she's involved with something that involves Caitlyn Clark.
Speaker 3 (17:52):
Right, Angel Rees is a big star in the WNBA.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
Other players are big stars, right, but she thinks she
kind of thinks she's on the same level, and she
just isn't.
Speaker 3 (18:00):
I don't know why.
Speaker 1 (18:01):
Last year, when Caitlyn Clark comes in the league, people
felt that held say, well, it's Angel Reaes too. Yeah,
on a much smaller level. It's Angel Rees coming in.
On a much smaller level, It's Cameron Brink coming in.
It's all these players coming in. It's can be a
Cardozo on a much smaller level. Now Angel Reese is popular, right,
so great, She's not Caitlyn Clark. But everything that goes
on anytime she's asked questions, now she bristles with Caitlyn Clark.
(18:24):
She had no problem last year saying it's about me,
it's about me, But then when she got a question
over the weekend going into the first game, Hey, you
said last year was about you. No, not talking about it, No, nope, nope,
next question. Oh suddenly suddenly you want to talk about
how great you are. But then you get a question
thrown to you and no, I don't want to say
I don't want to say that. And then after the game,
basketball player don't want to talk about it. Okay, that's
(18:44):
why that play happened, all right. It was a basketball play.
It was strictly a basketball play, and Caitlyn Clark was
making sure that Angel Reese wasn't getting to the hoop,
and she was sending a message, You're not going to
do that to my teammate. I'm stronger than I was
last year. If you can't tell I'm holding your arms down.
It didn't go your head or neck. I didn't take
your feet out from under you, but you flopped to
draw a foul and you got embarrassed and all of
(19:05):
the emotion came to you at once. Because Caitlin Clark
lives rent free in Angel Reese's head, that's why that
happened over the weekend the way it did. Yeah, I
don't blame her for reacting, right, I mean, there's a
there's a reverse angle where maybe there's a little extra
beyond the because look, the arms are wrapped up, so
it's the I'm not letting go, you're not letting go,
(19:26):
you pull apart kind of thing, and it's like, all right, fine,
then go. It's where you can interpret it as maybe
a little extra that's fine, and maybe that's where they
got to their flagrant file. But where it blows up
from there right coming into the weekend, what did you
think you were gonna get right. This is like week
one of the NFL. We've got the Eagles and the Cowboys. Hey,
what do you think about the giants improvement in the
(19:48):
quarterback room this week?
Speaker 3 (19:49):
What do you know? You're asking about the Cowboys? You're
asking about their moves? How do you keep Micah Parsons detained?
Speaker 1 (19:56):
You know, what are you expecting now that George Pickens
is on board all of that stuff? You're not looking
ahead to week two or week three or what you
did this offseason? You know, a nice little book report
kind of scenario. Same thing here, it's game one, going
into the game. What'd you learn this offseason? What did
you see? How did you spend the off season? But
(20:18):
eventually you're getting into a bunch of Caitlin Clark questions.
Speaker 4 (20:22):
Cuz it's a marquee matchup for weekend one. They could
have saved it.
Speaker 3 (20:26):
They didn't.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
They pushed it out there and got lucky that there
was nothing else scheduled opposite it.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
All right, Possibly waited for the I don't remember the sequencing.
Maybe they waited for the NBA to announce some scheduling,
but they don't really do that until the finals, So
they lucked out they were running unopposed, saved for the Preakness,
which was crazy because the favorite came back should have
been a disqualification. Doesn't matter, took down what was a
(20:53):
long shot that led most of the race, but that
was the only other thing going on big in the
sporting universe was a whole which has a very ardent
group of supporters subset, probably smaller than the WNBA fan base.
Speaker 3 (21:10):
So you have this marquee matchup.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
So yeah, all your questions before and certainly afterwards, Hell,
this is where you lean into it. It's like, yeah,
it's on, Like you're gonna give it a million sound bites,
like it's a prize fight, and instead you gave just
a quick now no comment.
Speaker 3 (21:27):
It's like no, no, lean.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Into the moment. It's good for box office, it's good
for business. And in the end, this isn't going away
just because you know, comment this because guess what, You're
gonna play again and again.
Speaker 3 (21:39):
There's gonna be almost five more times. The Yankees and
they're the Yankees and Red Sox. The WNBA played five
times this.
Speaker 4 (21:45):
Year and all of them are going to be in
isolated television windows to grab the most audience. You can
so while they don't like the extra necessarily, and I
say that with an a wig, it's good for box office. Look,
folks can show show their ass by, you know, proving
(22:07):
that they haven't watched a bit of the game, because
beyond just that play, I was captivated right watching each possession.
There's a lot of physical play going on. Clark's going
towards a triple double, and again, it's the dawning of
a new season. You want to see what's next.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Now.
Speaker 4 (22:25):
Even as it became a burial, you had a bunch
of back and forth, a little extracurricular around the baskets,
like all right, this this is a powder keg that
could blow. And that's what we got in that flashpoint
moment there, because there were plenty of other other isolated things.
If folks want to go through that whole game, I
won't bore you by chronicling them all, but I'll start
(22:46):
by just saying the part of that play that nobody
else talked about was Howard getting the forearm shiver in
the back.
Speaker 3 (22:52):
Yes, that seems.
Speaker 4 (22:54):
From all of this, right, so you know all of that.
There's so many storylines, But for Angel Reese, there's a
certain segment of media and fandom. She ain't gonna win
no matter what she says or does. Right, She's been
paying it as the villain to some and the hero
to others. It's all about you know, who's telling the
story and point of view. And that's the brilliance of sports.
(23:18):
It's the brilliance of movies.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
Right.
Speaker 4 (23:19):
We love the anti hero Taylor Swift song I went
went multi platinum, But you know, breaking Bad, all the
Sony Soprano, all these other characters that we love not
necessarily good good guys, and you have to decide the
shades of gray because Angel Reeson ain't all bad, and
neither and Kitlin Clark ain't all good. She gets after it,
(23:40):
she's chirpy, she like all of those things. It's it,
but it's part of what competition is, and it's good
for the game. So when people start taking it in
these sideways directions. We didn't even get into some of
these other commentators in the nonsense they're spewing today because
they're not worth the error.
Speaker 3 (23:57):
But it's it's just that that level of discussion.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
You know, if you're one of the participants, recognize this
is what the league is currently defined.
Speaker 4 (24:05):
As a lot of these other players are great. A
lot of the history of the league where you've got
a lot of great players that are.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Still playing, Kelsey plumb uh and and Asia Wilson and
go on down the line.
Speaker 4 (24:15):
They're great players. Right now, this is box office on
a whole other level.
Speaker 1 (24:19):
So lean into it, because it's gonna work without you
if you don't. Now, the other part of this living
rent free is always fun is the rivalry aspect. Right,
You've seen that a lot today. Hey, the rivalry between
the two, it's great. The rivalry help you. Of course,
rivalries help. Yeah, because that's my first day in sports. Oh,
rivalries help. Of course, rivalries help.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
But no, no, no, you have to do that for nine minutes. Now.
Speaker 1 (24:43):
This is where the w NBA needs to have something
ready in a big way, very very soon. Right because
now the other part of this, that's that that's that's
unfortunately gotten attention past this is that there are reports
that potentially there or some hateful fan comments towards Angel
Reese during the season open. There's some social media comments
(25:05):
that this is what was said and directed towards her
from the game. And this is where we talked about
the investigation that's going on as WNBA is looking into
these comments.
Speaker 3 (25:14):
Now.
Speaker 1 (25:14):
Fever players talked about it today. They said they didn't
hear anything specific, but they understand the need for an investigation.
Caitlin Clark put out a statement and she said, no
place for that in our game, no place for that
in society.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
So here's the investigation going into this.
Speaker 1 (25:29):
Whatever the outcome is, the w has to be ready
with nipping this in the butt because you don't want
a rivalry to break along racial lines to the point
where every time they play against each other, something that
comes up is inflamed racially, right, Because either you're gonna
find out that there were some fan comments that said
(25:50):
things to Angel Reese, which is, wow, this is going
to make the Fever look really bad. And you already
had last year some social media comments that was spotlight
about the Fever fans and it looks really really bad. Hey,
come on, we can't have the fans here, you know,
saying things. It's not it's not right in any any way.
We don't want it. Or the WNBA is going to
find out that there is nothing and that maybe this
(26:12):
was manufactured and then it's okay. Now here's something that
was said because people didn't like the fact the way
that Angel Reese was you know, got fouled by Caitlin Clark.
Speaker 3 (26:22):
So now here's the racial aspect of it. The other way.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Whatever is going to come out, it's gonna come out
one of these one of these things. Either the WA
is gonna find stuff to be bad for the fever
or the WA is not going to find so it's
gonna be bad for this relationship. The W has to
be ready with something to put this to bed because
the one thing, you know, what you want the rivalry.
Of course you do. Do you like the hate that
Caitlin Clark gets? Yeah, I think on on on not
(26:46):
every level you do, but some you'll put up with
it because it's attention to the league. But you don't
want this to break so objectively and objectively on racial lines.
You don't want that because that's something that will tear
the League of part tear fans.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Apart, and that's no good.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
So the w's got a real issue on their hands
because you got to you want to take care of
this now because you don't want every time and everything
that comes up between Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark to
be along along racial lines. Now there's certain things you're
never gonna be able to stop on social media. And
I get that, right, people are always gonna say what
they want to say, and okay, you shrug your shoulders.
But stuff like this that is either there's documented or
(27:24):
it's manufact you can't have that, Like, that's not where
you want to go with this league where you have
built a lot of goodwill. You've built a lot of eyeballs.
You matter, You're part of the every day of rundown
of sports on TV and the radio. You've made it, man,
w you have made it. Yes, you're still figuring out
how to deal with success, because I've always say that's
the biggest thing.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
The Dub's got to show me. You can deal with success. Right.
Speaker 1 (27:46):
You dealt with not being successful for a while, Right,
you worried about keeping the league going and money from
the NBA. Now you're incredibly successful. You've made it be
able to deal with success. This is something they got
to take care of. They got to have some hope there.
They're dealing with some kind of plan for whatever this
this investigation comes out, because that's where they got to
come out with something strong. So this part of it
(28:07):
doesn't fester. I don't know if it's something as simple
as Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese appearing together and bearing
the hatchet, so it's not so it doesn't become this
along racial lines, whatever it is. But they have to
have something ready so this is not the part of
the rivalry that takes hold, because it will take hold.
Speaker 4 (28:25):
Yeah, I mean, the unfortunate part of it is I mean, look,
it's it's elemental. It's like one is black, one is white.
That's not going away. So how people respond to it
is always going to be difficult to monitor. Certainly in stadium,
all right, you got more security and you take all
those measures as you can. But the online, the commentary,
(28:48):
all of that. I don't know how much you can
adjudicate and look into that or you're going to suddenly
hire a bunch of staff, you know, to find out
if these guys are ticket holders or whatever. I mean,
there's a lot of measures, I guess and hoops you
can jump through to go through it. And the two
of them, obviously you have levels of condemnation of it
(29:11):
in their statements. Uh, you know, abhorring the idea that
you have that element in the building. But I don't
know how much more you can do beyond that, right,
because they're still going to play physical basketball, and no
matter how much off the court, you know, shaking hands
and appearing in PSA s and whatever, you know, when
again out on the court, they're still going to be competitive.
(29:33):
It's still going to be a tough, physical game. And
I think that's the the other part to this is
you know it is, and you bring it. It's a
physical game, and you bring in eyeballs of maybe folks
that haven't watched the women's game, uh, and they think
folks are being unduly attacked and and and get defensive
and a bit out of sorts and out of pocket
(29:55):
with it. Like with this, I hope it's a swift
investigation and they find, you know, one way or the
other how it is. But you know, it's always the
you know, proving the negative part is a difficult proposition.
But certainly for other Fever fan it's you know, at
their home games and certainly on the road, it's incumbent
upon them that the old if you see something, say
(30:18):
something to keep it safe for everybody and keep the
players safe and make sure that that environment stays raucous
and positive because they're riding a pretty good wave. It
would be a horrible thing if this were able to
tear part of it away and become a negative headline
that remains exit.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
How about a Fresca exit Swallen Dome. Jason Smith Mike
Carman live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. Tom notw
to find out what's trending in the wide world of
sports from a guy who's been called the Anthony Banda
of Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
I think he just called me a loser, very eloquently,
not requiring a thought for something.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
I wasn't gonna say that, but you dropped the mic
with that punchline.
Speaker 5 (31:04):
So I've seen the Dodger pitching this past week, and
you can lead a horse to water.
Speaker 3 (31:11):
It's Steve Desager with watch Trending.
Speaker 5 (31:13):

Speaker 3 (32:13):

Speaker 5 (32:14):
Angels sent the A's to a six straight loss, four

just swept a three game series at Dodger Stadium. Former
Dodger outfielder Yasio Puige was cut by his Korean League team.
The Braves activated pitcher Spencer Streider. He could start Tuesday,
Cleveland at Minnesota was suspended by rain after three at
ings twins, leading two to one. They hoped to continue
(32:35):
it on Tuesday, weather permitting, it was See had a

a grand slam in the eighth. The Mariners just swept
a three game set in San Diego. White Sox have
lost five in a row. Kyle Schwarber with a late

Speaker 4 (34:16):
Elmo finally takes how David Harbor.

Spoiler alert, Elmo's best friends with eleven Boy.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
She's a lot older than when the series started. New
Cookie wants there, go ahead. Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (34:31):
She said, it's your Cookie, Monsters.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
That was contract Gulars.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
It is for Caitlyn.
Speaker 1 (34:40):
That's Caitlyn Clark to me, Oh, that'd be the cow
Albany bowls Wan.
Speaker 3 (34:54):
Flagrant. No, I'm digging. They said, Netflix, save Sesame Street.
That's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (35:03):
I'll get to watch like the Eat or Not, and
then I can go watch uh Netflix, I can.
Speaker 3 (35:07):
I can watch Sesame Streets Never Gonna Die.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
Yeah, that says to advance for you. Though they saved it. No,
come on, they count to numbers. I know they don't
go higher.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
Still don't know.
Speaker 1 (35:18):
I just I just need to get to four because
that's how many games gonna take. The Knicks to win
this series against Pacers. Nicks and four Nixon four.
Speaker 3 (35:25):
Careful what you wish for? Uh? What do you careful?
What I wish for? They're playing the Pacers so bad.
There's nothing you can do about that.
Speaker 4 (35:33):
I can't change the Wednesday is going to be absolute chaos.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
Lord, for I wish, I wish I could change it
and say, hey, you're gonna play the Nets instead, But
I can't do that.
Speaker 3 (35:44):
We might get a triple bang. So tomorrow way win,
I mean the streets in New York. I mean, who knows?
Speaker 1 (35:52):
Tomorrow will pick the Knicks and the Pacers here nix
and four. But right now we are set spoiler for
the Western com Difference Finals to start tomorrow, the Thunder
and the Wolves and you know what, Look, this is
the finals I picked last year and I was like, man,
I'm a year ahead, But okay, that's fine. These are
the two best young teams in the Western Conference. That
the Thunder clearly with a regular season where they showed
(36:14):
they were the.
Speaker 3 (36:14):
Best team in the NBA, and.
Speaker 1 (36:16):
The t Wolves, as talented as they are, took it
a little bit to get it going with a couple
of big new pieces they had to incorporate and Julius
Randall and Dante DiVincenzo. And clearly we have seen Julius
Randall find his way. He has been terrific for them,
and they really hit their stride at the beginning of
the playoffs. I'm taking the Thunder and six for two reasons. One,
(36:39):
I like the Thunder defense a little bit better, but
that's kind of the second reason.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
I like when you see.
Speaker 1 (36:44):
Stuff like hey, Alex Caruso was gonna guard Jokic for
forty possessions, Like what are you insane?
Speaker 3 (36:49):
Oh no, wait? That actually worked really great and he
was plus forty for.
Speaker 1 (36:53):
The game coming off the bench because he was able
to help deny Jokich the ball and make Jokic get
the ball and places he's not really used to. Like,
it's an incredible move to be able to make that happen.
Both teams are good defensively, right, but I'm really more
high on the Thunder defense, but mainly the two best
(37:15):
players in this series SGA and Ann Edwards. Right, I
am more confident that I'm going to get a consistently
great playoff over a full series from SGA than I
am about Ann Edwards, because Ann Edwards still as great
as he is, He's still gonna have one or two
games where it's boy, really needed more from you in
(37:37):
this game. Right. It was just last series where where
Chris Finch called out Edwards said, hey, he needed more
from you. Hey, do you agree with coach now? I
thought I played really well defensively, thought I played really well.
I don't know, No, I disagree like he still has that.
I don't think he quite has the maturity, quite has
the full leadership. And there's gonna be one or two
games where he's going to need to give the Tea
(37:57):
Wolves a little bit more either because the Thunder We're
gonna do something to slow him down. He's not gonna
know how to get past it. Not gonna be able
to get past it, and he's gonna have a couple
of games like that, whereas I don't see that from
Shay Gildess Alexander. I see him having a more consistent,
full six to seven game series, and that's gonna be
the difference. I will take the team with the best
(38:19):
player that I think is gonna have the best series.
Speaker 3 (38:21):
So give me Oklahoma City and sga ooh. See.
Speaker 4 (38:24):
Before we started this playoff run, I had the t
Wolves going one, because if you do end up in
the finals, I want Julius Randall staring you in the
face twenty two or more points eight of his last
nine games, coupling that with between seven and ten rebounds,
most of those efforts, extra energy, the length of the
(38:45):
defense on the perimeter. Look, they split the season series.
Uh Now, it's a question of which style of game
you get because the first two we got into the hundreds,
but we're into the you know, one thirteen, one, sixteen,
those are the highs in those two games and the
other two games one thirty one twenty three and one
thirty one one twenty eight. Let's go absolute chaos, and I.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Will tell you that's how this is gonna be efficiated
because the NBA wants eyeballs and it's not gonna look
you'll get eyeballs Knicks, Pacers, no matter what. The games
could be fifty to forty nine, it doesn't matter. People
are gonna watch, but they want points in this series.
So I think it's gonna be. It's gonna be both
teams are gonna be able up and down the floor
a little bit more. It's gonna be a little bit
more of an advantage for the Thunder and again defensively
(39:29):
when they can pick their spots. So I think this
will be. They know who they're sending to each series,
and and they know we're gonna send officials to this series.
We want to see a lot of points. Who want
to see a lot of offense. That's what people want
to see, what the Thunder and the te Wolves. Yeah,
I enjoyed it earlier today. I forget whether it was
uh Rachel Nichols or who had it, but they put
(39:50):
up the giant grid of the officials faces, Like I
remember the book I got when I first got to Northwestern.
Here's your actual Facebook, so you walk around the campus
and you might actually know who these I thought it
was really odd because really all it was was a
picture and a name is like, yes, because I'm carrying
this and I'm gonna be able to stare people down
as they walk past me on campus. This really isn't helping,
(40:12):
but it was.
Speaker 3 (40:12):
That kind of thing.
Speaker 4 (40:13):
Here's your one sheeter and your primer for the But
they should have had some stats, right, How did these
officials call the Knicks?
Speaker 1 (40:21):
How did these officials call the Pacers? How do they
call the Western Conference series? How many times did they
send SGA to the free throw line?
Speaker 3 (40:30):
All of these things.
Speaker 4 (40:31):
I need to know, man, I need the ins and
outs and the breakdowns. But excited to get to it
tomorrow that we still have a couple of these top
squads still alive to try to make their history.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
All right, So I'm going thunder and six. You're going
you had the t Wolves from the beginning of the playoffs.
Speaker 4 (40:48):
Yeah, yeah, so t Wolves and seven. SGA after they lose,
gets his MVP trophy.
Speaker 1 (40:54):
Oh, they give it to him, and they give it
to him the locker room after the last so they say, here,
you guys to go to the NBA Finals.
Speaker 4 (41:01):
Congratulations, Hey, SGA, come over here. You got the consolation prize.
Speaker 3 (41:04):
You want, comes in on horses and grab it. That's true.
