ers earlier tonight we stink. But oh with baseball we suck.
Speaker 2 (01:16):
Are we done?
Speaker 1 (01:17):
I'm walking away, I'm finished it about look some big
pity mind anything, some big stories out of baseball, right,
some big stories out of baseball. And the best way
to start is to bring in Monty Blago's here, because
you know, we're about educating and we're about making sure,
you know, giving people reps right the only way you
get better what you do and continue to own your craft.
(01:38):
Uh So, Monsey, the the New York headline for the
Yankee game is special Schlittler Stars. I want you to
say special Schlittler Stars three times fast. Yes, no, special
Schlittler Stars take to New York Post one even better, okay?
Speaker 2 (01:57):
Okay? Or holy schlitt sit again, Holy Schlit, Holy Schlit,
Holy Schlitz, Holy Schlitz. That one's easier, Well, that one,
you want to do? That easier? She didn't even blink.
That one was way easier, all right, now, salad.
Speaker 1 (02:15):
But if you don't say special Schlitzler Stars right, okay,
it's a it's a malipprop. If you get holy schlitt wrong, like,
that's a bigger deal.
Speaker 3 (02:23):
I see what you're saying, and I guess I did
not process that in real time.
Speaker 2 (02:28):
Just sounded easier. And I survived.
Speaker 1 (02:32):
You know, it's only the strong. It's like your own
guillotine league here.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
You survived, Holy Schlitz you know.
Speaker 1 (02:41):
And because listen, because we are on YouTube play right now,
Monsei did just mouth something to me that I can't
say on the radio.
Speaker 2 (02:50):
You like that, No, I would say. She didn't say that.
I said something else, Holy Schlitz. Yeah, and she made
sure to.
Speaker 1 (02:58):
Turn your mic off and and okay, so all right
then I wasn't sure.
Speaker 2 (03:03):
If you read my you know, if you get it
mouthed what I was saying.
Speaker 1 (03:06):
No, no, no, schdor sayers. I was able to see
what you remind me.
Speaker 2 (03:10):
Just fine, it would worked out great, good stuff. Good,
Thank you missus Schlitzler. It's okay, very good.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
All right.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Uh so again on fire even know we're in safe harbor.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Now you're the one who wanted her to say holy
Schlitz like I just thought it was bunny that they
put that up there.
Speaker 2 (03:26):
What are you doing? Wow?
Speaker 1 (03:28):
Okay, you know, you know I gotta ask her it,
you know, went time forth trying to go, hey, what's
that beer that was popular in the in the seventies.
It wasn't Schaefer, it was Schmidt, And try to get
her to say schlitz.
Speaker 2 (03:43):
It's good beer. Do they still make schlitz?
Speaker 1 (03:45):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (03:45):
I think we could probably Can you still make schlitz?
I don't know. Let's take a look. Okay, see they
still have schlitz. I don't know that you've been outlawed.
Speaker 4 (03:51):
MA.
Speaker 2 (03:51):
I'm cam Schlitzler.
Speaker 1 (03:52):
You know what I like to do after I throw
eight shot out hitting at the Red Sox, I celebrate
with a schlitz. And I like to watch Eugene Levy
and his son and I mean maybe that that's a
commercial good bit.
Speaker 2 (04:02):
There you go, right there. I like to have a
schlitz trying to find it internewebs. Let's see. Yeah, it's still.
Speaker 1 (04:09):
Going right now round in eighteen forty nine, introduced by
pap since in nineteen ninety nine. Wow, all right, still there,
Schlitz is still there, still out there, right, still going
after one hundred and seventy six years. Our manager Scot Shapiro,
who listens to the show right now, he is wincing
every time we say Schlitler.
Speaker 2 (04:25):
Or Schlitz or Holy Schlitz he's gonna have PTSD. I mean,
you can go grud and just say, you know this guy.
Speaker 1 (04:34):
He's gonna say, hey, listen, I think maybe you know,
putting Monci on the spot like that maybe not what
you want. Hey, you know what, Sometimes you become a
star in when the opportunity arrives. Is all right for
Cam Schlittler sure earlier today or he became a national
here and he made a lot of people with his
(04:56):
trading cards, a lot of money real fast. From Mons blog.
She stepped up in a big way. She was very special.
She was specialist. Schlitzler was stepping up and saying that.
And now my now Manti's miming now that she really
does have her mic off come full sedor on you.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
I don't know what she said.
Speaker 1 (05:17):
I can okay, Hey, can you say, holy Schnikey special
Chadour Sanders Schlitzler stars silently? What hey, holy cow special
Chadur Sanders Schlittler star silently.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
There's a long drive by castle, That's what happens here.
Speaker 1 (05:43):
Just gave me another silent come in. She's as good
as Tyson is. Turning your mic off and saying something
and then turning back.
Speaker 2 (05:52):
Yes, he's trying to catch me.
Speaker 1 (05:54):
Hey, I'm trying to educate you. As a big time
sports talk radio host. You gotta be able to say
so words.
Speaker 2 (06:00):
Did I've said them? I've said them?
Speaker 1 (06:03):
Okay, tonight, let's be honest. See have you said Cam
Schlittler's full name more? Or has ty Shirt played you
saying it once? Because you said it correctly once and
we recorded it and that's what you played during your update.
Speaker 5 (06:15):
No, I've said it like four times.
Speaker 2 (06:21):
Those were really good. Four get those four? Ut like
four times? Okay, alright, no, like four times I said it.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Okay, you're gonna go home and have nightmares about You're
gonna wake up middle of the night saying Schlittler, Schlittler Siler.
Speaker 5 (06:38):
I'm gonna have a dream where I had to be
dumped and then I lost my job because I kept saying.
Speaker 2 (06:43):
No, Yeah, that's absolutely that's gonna happen to you.
Speaker 3 (06:49):
That's what I And then I'm gonna text you both
at three am when I wake up with sweats because
I think I've lost my job.
Speaker 1 (06:58):
You know what, He'll take you down that path, saying
oh yeah, you did. That was not a dream that
absolutely happened, slit. I'm nervous when Tyshert's just I mean,
he's a digital wizard.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
You have no idea what he's now doing with those files.
Oh yeah, yeah, don't edit those tight shirt. Just make
sure they may make sure that you know, I gotta
say what they say. You can't. Don't hit it out
any els. Well if you don't. If if you do that,
you're gonna answer to somebody else. If you keep yelling
take the l's he might take you. You're definitely gonna.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Go no, no, You're You're gonna answer more than I
would if I get a text at three am and
my wife said, who is that?
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Oh it's Monsei.
Speaker 1 (07:41):
Why is Manzi texting you at three o'clock in the morning?
And the starts to play and meanwhile, meanwhile, Monzie's boyfriend's
gonna go, who's this schlittler guy?
Speaker 2 (07:51):
You keep saying in sleep? Who's this guy? Who is
the Schlitzler guy? The guy that yells I'm yours.
Speaker 3 (07:57):
He's a Yankee fan, so you'll know who he is.
Speaker 2 (08:00):
He is the he'll know. He'll say, oh, that's acceptable.
That's fine. That's fine. Oh good, okay, okay, wait, so
he's a Yankee fan. He is, and you're a Dodger fan.
Does that work? It's fine. I mean he gets to
go to the World Series. In the World Series last year,
well we won, so is good, you know.
Speaker 3 (08:19):
But because of my job with the Dodgers, he's been
to World Series.
Speaker 2 (08:23):
So it's like he can't complain that much.
Speaker 1 (08:24):
He got to he got to see the Freddie Freeman
hit that walk off home.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
He sure did.
Speaker 3 (08:29):
And he's we were there also for Game two and
he almost saw them come back.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Okay, you almost saw come back. Saw the come back.
Remember bases were loaded like good time, so close, so close.
Someone who works for powerful team. Thank you, Montelle.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Look forward to your Shador Sanders special Schlittler update coming
up soon.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
Sure sure, holy Schlitz, you would think I'm going to
tell you that.
Speaker 1 (08:58):
As I said, Yankee is gonna in the World Series, right,
we said, we talked about this with the McMahon play.
I will say this, the team in the Baseball Playoffs
that nobody wants to play. It's not the Dodgers, it's
not the Phillies, it's not the Brewers. It's not the Yankees,
it's not the Mets. Like that de Mets. Nobody wants
to play the Tigers, especially after today. Right, we talked
(09:22):
about this. They win Game one, and I said, is
that this is a team that is built for the playoffs,
that's not a regular season. The fact they had the
best record in baseball for a while this year was
was really just a mirage because they're not built to
be a team that is regular season dominant. They're built
like a team that, hey, we can win eighty five
ish games we get in the playoffs, but then we
(09:44):
get you in a short series and we have the
best pitcher in baseball you're going to see twice. Right,
we have a team that plays really good defensively, we
have clutch hitting up and down the lineup, and we
are going to see You are going to see a
team that you do not want to play again. It's
gonna be everything they do, they do well, they execute right.
(10:05):
And then coming off of Game two or they went
one for eighty seven with runners in scoring position, Okay,
that was a big deal. But I picked them to
win today because I knew that's not gonna continue. What
do they do they got big hit after big hit
in the eighth inning, they eliminate the Guardians and now
it's gonna be Scooble back ready for Game one, schoobl
and Boyd going one to two and Flaherty who gave
you a good four and two thirds innings today. Nobody
(10:25):
wants to play the Tigers because now they are a
short series team. They are best pitcher in baseball twice.
They are clutch hitting, they are defensively, they're not gonna
make mistakes like we've seen the Dodgers make and other teams.
Nobody wants to play the Tigers in the playoffs because
this is what they're this is what this team is
built for. You saw Hovey Baias making clutch play after
(10:46):
clutch play, a team that relies on emotion, and he's
he's the biggest guy to rely on emotion. He's making
big tag plays and big plays up the middle like
he's twenty three years old and not thirty two. Nobody
wants to play the Tigers. Well, it's good that he's
active for this run of stuff. Now, isn't it last year? Yes, Well,
you know we have to uh, you know, account for
(11:08):
all of it.
Speaker 2 (11:08):
As we go. What's curious about.
Speaker 1 (11:10):
Them is that they do really well in pressure moments,
one run games amongst the leaders this year. They don't
have a lot in terms of the rotation. Right it's
two men, and we watched with Casey Miz how they
pulled him after three innings and sixty two pitches in
Game two. Still a little bit of a head scratcher,
but uh succeed in pro seed two out of three
(11:31):
against the Guardians who came and got them at the
back end of the season. So uh they they vanquished them.
And now you move forward again when we look at
their their lineup, you've got Green and Torcal center the
or the big hitters, and Carpenter has been streaky. Most
of his damage done, I think more first half of
the season. But one through nine they're not easy and
(11:54):
they're not easy out, you know, with the exception of
rptible guys with the their lineup is all fifteen home
run seventy RBIs like that's their entire love. But for Green,
great Green, Now that great Green is the biggest, but
it is the help that you don't have, you know,
the one three hundred hitter and then everybody under the
Mendoza line. As we were discussing a little bit yesterday
(12:16):
when we're talking, you know, the composition of some of
these other squads, a lot of guys in that two
fifty to two seventy range.
Speaker 2 (12:24):
Get them on, get them over, get them in.
Speaker 1 (12:25):
So the curiosity for the Tigers is outside of those
schoolbl starts.
Speaker 2 (12:31):
Yeah, how about you getting out of your starters.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
That's that's the thing I would fear in terms of
how they have to operate because they've got to play
small ball.
Speaker 2 (12:40):
Yeah, that's why.
Speaker 1 (12:41):
And you're gonna have to manage those bullpens like you're
Dave Rubberts. Look, and I'll tell you this much for
the time, there is so much pressure on them to
win Game one because if the Mariners win Game one,
they're winning the series. Like this is one of those
this is one of those series where hey, winner of
Game one, that's who's gonna wind up taking this right
And because this series is going to be if you
(13:02):
get out there and you beat the ace and all
of a sudden, hey you win that, and and you're
looking at going up to Zip and you're hitting the baseball.
Suddenly these games that Schooble pitches the Tigers.
Speaker 2 (13:13):
Have to have. They absolutely have to.
Speaker 1 (13:16):
If you it's like it's this is look, this is
gets into why the Dodgers would lose so often deep
in the playoffs with Clayton Kershaw. If you beat Clayton Kershaw,
you beat the Dodgers.
Speaker 2 (13:26):
Right you. If you beat Marianna Rivera, you beat the Yankees.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
All these great teams had the one pitcher that hey,
when they come into the game or when they're pitching,
these are games we have to have.
Speaker 2 (13:37):
Right.
Speaker 1 (13:37):
The World Series of Yankees lost, Why they lose? Who
got beat Marianna Rivera? Right, That's why the Dodgers with
all the big playoff losses, who got beaten? Big Game sixes,
Clayton Kershaw, these were games the Dodgers had to have.
And when you when these are games you have to have,
you play a little bit tighter. The other teams plays
a little bit looser because well, we don't. If we
(13:58):
get this, it's a bonus and weird things happen. This
is why the Tigers have to have the games that
Schooble pitches because if not forget it right, you get
on momentum, you get on a bit of a role
you come into the next game. You're feeling good. The
other team is panicky a little bit with they're at bats.
It's it's the hangover from one game to the next.
If you lose three to one and Schooble strikes out fourteen,
(14:18):
you come into that next game. Yes, you're turning the page,
but it's still in your mind and you're saying, we
got to make something happen. And all of a sudden,
you are playing into the other team's hands, right, and
BOYD can get out there, and E can His era
was just over three this year. This is what happens.
But if the Mariners get Game one, the Mariners win
the series. Mariners implied odds sixty seven percent get in
(14:39):
for Game one.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
One hundred and ninety six dollars. Woo wow.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
That's uh okay, that's actually little bit less than I
thought it would be. It's less than I thought it
would be for Game one. Oh, I mean we're still
I mean before Major League Baseball takes it over and
adds extra zeros. Yeah, But I mean, like I thought,
for you know, the demand for SAT should be would
be so more that that the tickets would be more
than that had to be up more like five hundred
(15:04):
bucks to get in.
Speaker 2 (15:05):
No, I mean next round, next run.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
Well, and yeah, and the Seahawks are three and one,
so there is yet dollar cost averaging and allocating resources
right now. Yeah, and I think the season they make
a bigger run is doing well.
Speaker 2 (15:18):
Too, So there's that.
Speaker 1 (15:19):
Yeah, I exit out out a Fresco exit swollen down

Legitimately, Chair Dancing in the Studio, Jason Smith high On,
Mike Harmon The Party is on as we move on
in Major League Baseball, Fox Sports Radio, Emoni Moon, This
is a great version. I mean, there's very few songs
where the remake is better than the original. This is
one of them. Well, it's also a growling Billie Idol
(16:45):
always win.
Speaker 2 (16:46):
Just that big basin of.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, and just all the different things that
you can yell.
Speaker 7 (16:54):
Like.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
That's one thing I remember every every wedding i'm at,
or every time at a bar they play the song
and people yelling. People yelled different things after Mony Mony,
A lot of stuff we can't and you yell something right,
and uh, I'll never forget this because I found something
that I could yell. That's one of those people go
and then they go, oh right, so money, money comes right,
(17:16):
And people yelled different things riding at Mony Mooney and
and one time I'm like, oh I got it.
Speaker 2 (17:22):
I got it. I got it. So it came in
with and we were yelling, and I stand up and
I yell, bugs Bunny Daffy Duck. That's pretty good.
Speaker 1 (17:30):
And everybody the table just lose it, and I'm like, ah,
I came up with a thing, Bugs Bunny Daffy Duck. Legends,
Bugs Bunny Daffy Duck, get a little while and coyote
in there.
Speaker 2 (17:41):
Or super genius. Oh foghorn, leghorn.
Speaker 1 (17:44):
Yeah, I'll tell you that boy's about a sweaty as
a headband and a fireman's helmet. Okay, that's a good
one right now. Yeah. Uh so yos might saying, yeah,
I mean.
Speaker 2 (17:57):
Raise it, raise the drawbridge, raise it.
Speaker 1 (17:59):
So the Rams completely give the game to the forty
nine ers tonight. Oh yeah, a horrendous play call by
the Rams on fourth and one in overtime. They decide
to go for it inside the ten yard line and
Karen Williams get stuffed. You know he ran behind on
that play. MM Jackie Slater two wide receivers. Yeah yeah,
(18:19):
you saw Winnington trying to come in and try to
make a block coming back from in motion. When I
saw the when I saw the way the teams were
lined up like, there's not a yard to be made here.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
There's not He.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Tried to run behind Pooka Nakula is not a yard.
There's not a I'm taller than Pooka Nakua. There's not
a yard to be made here. Right now, we get
to it's not a square to spare. We gotta bet,
Jamie Gertz, we gotta get to a big going on this.
But I was glad to see that when I first
guessed that this was going to be a bad play
(18:50):
for the Rams, I'm glad to see that. After the game,
Sean McVeigh agreed.
Speaker 7 (18:55):
In hindsight, I wish I would have, but uh no,
we were. We came in here to try to win
the football game. It didn't go down Forrest Gary. That
was that wasn't even a thought. But the play selection
was very poor. I'm sick right now because I put
our players in a spot and I got to live
with that. It's a bad call. It's a bad call
by me. Thought about maybe trying to draw them off sides.
(19:15):
It took one, they took the other, and it was
a poor decision by me right there. But you know,
you give the Niners credit. They made enough plays to
be able to win the football game. We had plenty
of chances throughout this game. You know, we stayed in it,
we fought, we battled. But I'm pretty sick right now.
I'm sick of the spot that I put our group.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
In to end the game.
Speaker 7 (19:34):
But hey, these are the tough beats that you got
to be able to learn from and move forward, and
that's what we're going to do. There was a lot
of really good plays at different points that kept us competitive,
gives us a chance to go into overtime. But we
certainly did more to lose that game than we did
win it tonight, and you know it did compound for sure.
Speaker 1 (19:52):
Bugs, Buddy Daffy Duck, all right, this is what I
take away from a play like this, right, because you
aim more of an appreciation for what the Eagles do
with the tush push. Because here's a situation where if
this is the Eagles fourth and one, they're going for it,
they're running the toush push and they get the first down.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Right.
Speaker 1 (20:12):
It's been the biggest topic of conversation the last two
and a half years. Is a big through line going
all the way back to when the Eagles lost the
Super Bowl, Uh to the Chiefs. The tush push, the
tush push. What I really don't understand is that the
NFL is a copycat league. Right Whenever somebody somebody comes
up with an idea, somebody else comes up with a
with a new version of it or aversion.
Speaker 2 (20:33):
Their team can do. Right.
Speaker 1 (20:34):
Sure, Oh hey, Armageddon's coming out. What a great movie.
It's the end of the end of the Earth and
the world's gonna hit by a media. Oh I like
that idea. We're gonna do and call a deep impact
and say, yeah, it's about the media. You're coming to
gonna blow up the earth and we're gonna do it.
All right, it's a it's a copycat league. When when
when the and it's a copycat world. When the vampire
trend came out, they didn't just stop with Twilight. We
(20:54):
got all the way into all kinds of crazy other
vampire stuff. When had a vampire When when we went
through the zombie phase, it was all the Walking Dead.
Speaker 2 (21:02):
No, there's only more, so much more than the Walking
Dead and.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
World War they got fast, right, Yeah, I say, let's
make them fast. But the NFL has always been a
copycat league went when Ronnie Brown and the Miami Dolphins
came out with the wildcat and Tony Sparano says, we're
going to run this thing, and it was the biggest
thing in the NFL. What happened many other teams tried
their own version of the wildcat. Now, the Dolphins knew
it could work because of the personnel they had, but
(21:26):
other teams the plays worked as well, especially if you
had guys that were college quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (21:31):
Yeah, they look down. Maybe he played a couple of
snaps and high school.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
The Eagles do the tush push the best, right they do,
But this has now been two full off seasons where
you know, if you're an NFL coach, why are we
not adopting this?
Speaker 2 (21:44):
Are they not?
Speaker 1 (21:45):
Did the Eagles say this is our idea, We've patented
it to you proprietary?
Speaker 2 (21:48):
Like what like? I feel like we're running the Eagles
play if we don't know?
Speaker 1 (21:51):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (21:51):
I don't think they get file suit.
Speaker 1 (21:53):
I don't know how teams didn't haven't said when can
tire off seasons to put in their own version of
the toush push.
Speaker 2 (21:59):
Who were the right guys to run behind? How do
we do it. How do we pull it off?
Speaker 1 (22:02):
It's pretty easy to see anybody that breaks down the
toush push. There's no analyst saying this is an incredibly
difficult play. I can't tell you, no, it's not a
very difficult play. I don't get how, especially when when
you borrow ideas all the time. We're gonna borrow the
toush push and we're gonna use it, and maybe we
run it a little bit differently. Maybe we decide, hey,
we have a center that can run it like Jason
Kelsey was able to do at the beginning, we have
(22:24):
the quarterback that that finds a spot where whatever it is.
I can't believe more teams haven't said, here's an unbeatable play.
Speaker 2 (22:32):
Why are we not doing it? I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (22:34):
That, And especially a guy like McVeigh, who's a big
offensive innovator Shanahan Ali, Why more teams don't do it
and have had three It's not like it's a brand
new thing, and hey, in the offseason you'll see more
teams do. This is two and a half years later,
and you still hardly see anybody else try the touch push. Well,
I think there's a couple of things that play. First off,
the continuity of offensive line play something you laugh at
(22:55):
me every time every year I bring it up of
how many how few teams have more than two of
the guys that they had a year ago, trying to
get five together. Okay, well, here's where I here's what,
here's why. I give you the other side of it.
Jason Kelcey was the greatest center in the world. This
is why the toush push succeeds. Jason kelce does stuff
that nobody He stops the ball falls down. I'll ebe
(23:16):
Jason Kelsey. He does stuff that nobody else does. Guess
what Jason Kelsey retired. You just made his Hall of
Fame argument. J Kelly snaps and steps Kelsey steps them all.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
And falls down.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
He STAPs the ball, gets a vote and he tells
him blank my life and falls down.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
That's what Jason Kelsey did.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
But clearly now he's been retired for a while and
they still run the touch push and they won a
supermo They had people that rise up like shark's teeth.
They took a bite and one of them fell out.
The next why, it went up and snapped into the
grid and he was ready for the next chomp.
Speaker 2 (23:47):
I'm like jael as my head is like a Sharks fan.
But all that to say, up and do it.
Speaker 1 (23:52):
If we get a j Ros Teeth, Yeah, if they
get a j Brown in an on his moment, does
he say they practice that more, then they should practice
practicing pass plays a little more. Throw it to me more,
run that less. Okay, can we do that? Coach talk less,
smile more, say back to teeth. But all of that
say eight, Well, we look at the rams in particular,
(24:13):
how many I haven't looked it up yet, but how
many quarterbacks sneaks they run with Matt Stafford.
Speaker 2 (24:18):
I don't think that's I think that's kind of a
rare one.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
But I'm not saying just run it tonight. But find
a way to say, hey, we can we can run
this quarterback.
Speaker 2 (24:27):
We know we're running it right. You put in something else.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
In and we're gonna run this or something to where
it becomes a direct on map to a running back
to where you have the optionality. But again, it's some
of it is just trusting your offensive line. I don't
think a lot of these coaches trust their offensively.
Speaker 2 (24:43):
You only need a yard you need It's not like
you a longer yard either way, you need a yard
you know, whatever it is.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Plus and if you can find a way to snap
it right to Kien Williams and he doesn't fumble the football,
then you'd be okay, too soon for that, No, not
too soon. Well you're going over the goal line. Don't
let your eyes get real big. Don't punch it out.
And they punch it out the second time this week.
That's happened, Peana Tillman. Every week add another one, Peina
closer to the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 2 (25:08):
Every week we see a punch out.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Why what's it not by Tyson's punch out anymore, it's.
Speaker 2 (25:13):
Peena Tilbot's punch out glass Joe. Right.
Speaker 1 (25:20):
But all of that to say, it'd be curious if
you got coaches in and on his mote, why don't
you do this?
Speaker 2 (25:26):
No?
Speaker 1 (25:27):
And and if any of them tries the cop out
of well, it's gonna get banned. Then you never talk
to them again because they're useless. We're not gonna we're
not gonna run a play that can get you a
yard yard whenever you need it success or I don't.
I don't understand that. That's what baffles me. The most
not that it's not been banned. Now why teams don't. Yeah,
we're gonna run that.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
We're gonna run.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Are you sound like the West Coast offense came out
and it's like, no, we can't run the West Coast offense.
We gotta run the Central Times on offense or the
Times Now Mountain time, we gotta run the What do
you do with Mountain time? We throw the ball along always. Uh,
people still ran West Coast and trust that your guys
won't go off sides. I mean the Eagles do to
a degree, but maybe the false start pedal Lee scares
(26:10):
you too much. I mean, I I don't get it.
It really baffles me the team.
Speaker 2 (26:14):
I do.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
Like Sean McVay being fired my fault. It's great situation,
it's still an O fault. I mean it's tarred Williams
fault for fumbling and then can't following behind fourteen nothing.
Your script didn't work, McVay, Your script sucked.
Speaker 2 (26:28):
It was a bad play.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
Like many Hollywood see, it's only appropriate. That's why we can't.
Speaker 2 (26:33):
We can't.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
We can't film this, this this one, by the way,
you were a loser before they ever kicked off. Yeah,
Timmy Trumpet played uh at the game tonight?
Speaker 2 (26:40):
Did he do U Narco? I don't know. I haven't
hitting it. H I mean yet.
Speaker 1 (26:44):
I mean Timmy Trumpet wearing a Matthew Stafford jersey at
the game tonight.
Speaker 2 (26:47):
Like hit that.
Speaker 1 (26:48):
I want a nice little luck Like if he's playing Narco, Like,
that's not cool, man, that's Edwin Diaz, Like he's got
to be if he's playing something else, that's cool.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Oh, he's playing Narco.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Come on, man, this means Edwin Diaz getting traded to
the Dodgers in the off season. That's how they're gonna
fix their bullpen. He's gonna opt out and the Dodgers
are gonna sign them. That's what's happening. Okay, well, we'll
get a new closer. I mean, I like his hat.
We'll get Tenner Scott next year. We'll be fine. Ever,
the non video audience, everybody listening just knew our eyes
(27:20):
got really big when we said we'll get Scott.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
We'll be fine. Yeah, that'll do it. Good idea, good idea.
Tell us it isn't.
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Time out to find out what's trending in the wide
world of sports, and someone who's gonna tell us all
about the big hero of the night, the starting pitcher
for the Yankees. She's gonna say his full name and
how he pitched tonight. It's Monte Bolanos Meta.
Speaker 2 (27:42):
I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean,
I mean, I.
Speaker 4 (27:43):
Mean, I mean.
Speaker 2 (27:44):
I am busy right now.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
I am busy listening to Taylor Swift's new album This
is but.
Speaker 2 (27:49):
I'm getting ready to work out.
Speaker 1 (27:50):
And I've seen some of these that we can't even read,
some of the clips of.
Speaker 2 (27:53):
The lyrics that are coming up here.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
This isn't one of her songs called uh Schlitzler the Hero.
Speaker 2 (28:00):
Yes, that's number oh there it is number eight. There
it is Jim Class Hero Schlitzler. Isn't that a Schlittler Schlitler?
He's not quite zero. I mean, I want to hear
the song father figure.
Speaker 1 (28:13):
It was a big note put out by the stated
George Michael, George Michael version. They sampled, so they got permission.
They said the copy of it to the to whoever
holds the rights, the family, the foundation, everybody, And they
put out a note earlier today saying we loved it
and we can't wait for everybody to hear it.
Speaker 2 (28:33):
He would have loved this song. And so we know
that that's a great video. The Father Figure video is awesome.
Speaker 1 (28:40):
Oh the way it starts with it. Oh yeah, George
h was so unbelievably talented. His songs were so good.
The songs were so good. Now I'm mosting a father
Figure on the way home. Yeah, put your hand, London,
it will be your preacher, teacher, anything you had and
my but it was the here's the permission, here's what
(29:02):
we're looking to do with it, here's here's the song.
Speaker 2 (29:05):
And they're like, he would have loved this.
Speaker 1 (29:07):
Let's go, so send of time big Taylor Swift nerd
I am.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
I have plenty of versions of those.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 2 (29:21):
Great up date balk to you guys. It wasn't pretty good.
I mean, people now know the albums.
Speaker 5 (29:29):
And I don't know if there's anything else to add
except Cam Schlittler.
Speaker 1 (29:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (29:34):
Yes, for a second, I wasn't sure what was going
to come out. I'm sorry your microphone wasn't on. You
have to say that, shut up, shut up.
Speaker 4 (29:43):
Pitched day and came up five hits, no runs, no walks,
had twelve strikeouts, which are the most for a Yankees
pitcher in their postseason debut as.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
A Yankee, shout out the Red Sox for zero to
advance to the Alds to face the Blue Jays.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
We needed to be perfect because he was perfect. I mean,
the stuff is outstanding. He was under control. That was electric.
That was Boston manager Alex Cora. I really excited that loss. Hey,
that was so good. Boy, he was so fun to watch.
He's so good. He's so good.
Speaker 5 (30:19):
Cubs are advancing to the NLDS for the first time
since twenty seventeen, where they're going to face the Brewers.
Speaker 2 (30:24):
As they defeated the Padres three to one.
Speaker 5 (30:26):
Tigers, they're going to face the Mariners in the Alds
as well.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
They beat the Guardians six to three.
Speaker 5 (30:32):
When it comes to the NFL, Week five kicked off
with Thursday Night Football between the forty nine Ers and
the Rams, and it went down to the wire and
then some, but San Francisco stopped LA on fourth and
one in overtime to win a twenty six to twenty three.
Speaker 2 (30:46):
Mac Jones led the way.
Speaker 3 (30:47):
He was thirty three or forty nine for three hundred
and forty two yards and two touchdowns. Running Back Hendrick
Bourne had ten catchers for one hundred and forty two yards,
and the latest is that San Francisco could be without
brock perty for Week six or even after reaggravating his
turf toe injury against the Jaguars.
Speaker 2 (31:03):
Pretty is considered weak to week.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Other NFL news Raiders tight end brock Bauers he was
a limited participant on Wednesday due to a knee injury.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Well he didn't practice on Thursday.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson missed his second straight practice because
of a hamstring injury. Commanders have ruled out wide receivers
Terry McLaurin and Noah Brown for Sunday's matchup against the Chargers,
and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell today in London said that
the league will be returning to Mexico next year, Australia
will get their first regular season game, and that there
(31:35):
are plans to go to Asia shortly thereafter. He also
said that they're launching a women's and men's flag football
league in the next couple of years.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
Yeah, that thirteen hour flight to Australia. Teams are gonna
love that. Oh awesome. Even Asia isn't like Asia. Further,
like certain parts of Asia.
Speaker 1 (31:54):
Yes, and TJ clearly the NFL dealing in the heat
of the moment by sending it to Asia. Now, everybody
here today, I have a trivia question for you. Right, so,
you're very good, very Taylor Swift just released her album Yes, okay,
right here, she is sharing the day with another big
(32:17):
day in pop culture? What is the day? Why is
today a special day? She's sharing her release day with today?
Why Bucky Bleeping Dead? No, that was a big day,
Bucky Day. But none of them know who Bucky Den.
I'm not going to ask Monci and tysher to Bucky
dead question. I can't Patrick filling It has no idea
what the natural is. I'm not going to ask him
(32:39):
about that. A mean Girls Today is a girl's day?
Speaker 2 (32:43):
Is that good?
Speaker 1 (32:44):
I thought it was the number one ascent of.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
A total eclipse of the heart on October thirty. Asked
me what today was? Yet over here? Very nice? Happy
mean girl's day? Happy girls nice? On Wednesdays we wear pink. Yes,
And that's how Regina George died.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
No, no, no, no, she doesn't even go here. One
of the best lines in that movie, will keep you here.
Speaker 2 (33:13):
We can't keep them inn.
Speaker 8 (33:15):
Keep me till four, I will keep you till four.
All right, so good, all right, so good, so good.
We put a big bro on the big day. Thank
you very much, Monci. Have a very schlitler night. Enjoy
the album.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Thank you.
Speaker 2 (33:31):
She's like, I never want to say Nate again.
Speaker 1 (33:34):
Like I hate these two guys and I never want
to see them on the other side of it. We'll
give you some big takes on the day in Major
League Baseball? What is next and why there needs to
be a big rule change. Now that's straight ahead right here,
Jason Smith, Mike Harmon, George Michael Father figure Fox Sports Radio.
(33:55):
That's all I wanted was for the Mets to be
in the playoffs.
Speaker 2 (34:01):
They couldn't get it done. Okay, let me stop you
right there. The Mets suck. Be sure to catch live
editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays
at ten pm Eastern seven pm Pacific on Fox Sports
(34:24):
Radio and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
You're listening to the Quiet Storm.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
You know, not just rotting.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
So many people that are on satellite radio have done
nothing to say. All the music, they have nothing to say.
Before I'm done, I want to do a music show.
Speaker 2 (34:46):
Yeah, because they have nothing.
Speaker 1 (34:47):
All all they do is is ay, hey, here's who
I am, here's that song, here's this song. And I'm
gonna talk really slow just to drag it out. Or
I'll tell you where they're going to be in concert
at some point, or I'll tell you story about how
you know when they were in Traverse City, Michigan one
time last year. Great, so the rest of the country
has us a story about like they have nothing to say.
(35:09):
They have absolutely nothing to say, just cashing checks. But
you got to make Traverse City sound like anytown in USA.
There is in your town and your town they're just
in your soul. They're just cashing checks. That they're just cashing. No, man,
that's the passion right, movies, music, TV, all that fun stuff.
Speaker 2 (35:26):
Man. I that that's the that's it cashing. That's the goods,
cash and checks. H who I talk to. I want
to augment our broadcasting. Well, one day I'll tell you
a good story about Settle. I'll tell you a good story.
Speaker 1 (35:37):
But look, the ABS system can't come to Major League
Baseball soon enough. This is the challenge system that we're
getting next year, where teams are going to get two
challenges a game on balls and strikes, and we clearly
need it because after what happened the ninth inning of
the Padres Cubs, it really it. We could see a
different team moving on in the postseason because of this.
Speaker 2 (35:59):
Right.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
Cubs lead the Padres three nothing going to the ninth inning. Now, look,
the Cubs won won the series. They're going on home
run for the Padres to start at the inning. Xander
Bogarts is up. Next, count goes to three and two,
and the payoff pitch is not even close to being
a strike. It is not it is it is maybe
a foot away from the strike zone. It is not
(36:20):
down and low. Yet this is the call as it
was made the first pitcher Durand swung on with the
little looper down the left down Thursday.
Speaker 2 (36:31):
I don't get hurt. This is the mcmahone we want
to want to hear Yankees.
Speaker 1 (36:34):
He wanted to talk about mcmana.
Speaker 2 (36:38):
McMahon is not but it's good to go. Okay, okay, brother,
all right?
Speaker 1 (36:43):
Uh the uh the called strike out of Xander Bogart's play,
Oh yeah, that.
Speaker 2 (36:48):
One and Keller deals Bollguards.
Speaker 9 (36:50):
Takes Oh it was low when he got wrung up
pitch was down, and really, for the first time all
game home played umpire DJ, ray Bird missed one big time.
Speaker 2 (37:02):
Bogarts gave him a piece of it, and.
Speaker 9 (37:04):
Now Mike Shill out there yelling at him as he
escorts Bullgart's away.
Speaker 1 (37:09):
Well, DJ, clearly there was no match game of a
ball call from the home played umpire to the pitch
with Raybird, DJ.
Speaker 2 (37:20):
How about another piece of pie geen ably done?
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Now, look, that's why this flips the entire game, because
it should have been a runner on first. Next two batters,
Keller hits and he's out of the game. All of
a sudden, he can't throw a strike. Now you could say, well,
would you have thrown those same pitches with a runner
on first. I feel pretty comfortable that if you hit
guys like that and you have to come out of
the game right away, you were gonna hit the many ways.
(37:43):
If nothing else, he's rattled with the guy on first base. Sorry,
we could go to that instead of bass is loaded,
nobody out, down two runs, it's first and second, one out,
which is a much different situation. The Cubs were able
to get out of the inning with a fly out
to center field. With the runs at second and third
and the Cubs go on and the Padres go home,
(38:04):
that play would have been challenged. It would have been
called correctly. Bogart is at first likely it's bases loaded,
nobody out. We had the technology to make things right,
and I don't know why it took so long, and
why it takes so long. It's no consolation of the
Padres now, but at least next year we're gonna get it.
But man, I'll tell you what I get that. There's
lots of twists and turns and different things canna happen
in the game, but that's one pitch, one time that
(38:26):
was completely biffed, and I feel pretty confident base sloaded,
nobody out. I feel pretty good that the Padres are
gonna get might get two runs and tie that game
up and send it to the bottom of the ninth. Well,
I would also point to in the one hundred and
sixty two game regular season where their offense wasn't exactly
is that powerful, so they might have very easily left
those runners on Babs Theres. Padres have enough problems. They
(38:48):
don't need the ump umpire calling guys out on Stoch.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
I showed you the video of a j Pereller.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
He was still stalking the Wrigley Field in field hours
after that game ended.
Speaker 2 (38:58):
Where's Rayburn's hotel? Is his hotel? Tell me where his hotel?
And whatever? You do the call? It's like, what's hey,
who's the heather plane? Rayburn?
Speaker 1 (39:06):
Rayburn made the call? Hey, Jake Pearler says his phone. Yeah,
you know what I think of that guy. I think
that guy's a real blank.
Speaker 2 (39:18):
Bound bound. Are the only two people in America that
got that?
Speaker 1 (39:22):
And if you did, I love you. Coming up next
to my buddy Ben Mallard, this is Fox.
Speaker 2 (39:27):
Your selfish bastard. Yeah,
