Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello, Welcome in side final hour tonight the Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon Finish Strong live
from the Fox Sports Radio studios. And it's kind of
fun with all the games over tonight. Now we can
watch pulp fiction. Pulp fiction, you want a good sorry,
pulp fiction. If only it was I know right now,

(00:22):
now I get to fight out of milkshake. That'll be
something before I had kids before I because I have
one kid and I.

Speaker 2 (00:28):
Was gonna breaking news only one that I know about
it before I before he had Zoe the kid.

Speaker 1 (00:36):
I'm not someone that goes to the movies to see
the same movie twice after I've seen it, right, Like,
I'll wait till it comes out on video only if
it's a bad one. You'll do if it's really bad,
or if I really want to convince myself, or if
then the nineties Sharon Stone was in it. But the
last movie I went, and because the scene is coming

(00:57):
up soon in the pulp fiction. But because that once
we had Zoe's like, we're gonna go see Frozen. We'll
go see Frozen again. We'll see Frozen again, and then
we'll go see Frozen. I know you didn't have to.
I think I've seen well because I hit the part
in my life where I realized, oh, I can go
to Frozen and I can get a good twenty five
minute you know, Zoe's gone John Wick four and take it. Hey, hey,

(01:19):
hey was great? You shut up? Yeah, I know. No
one would ever fall asleep during No One. Oh sorry, sorry,
I wear like a badge of honor. It's not like
the seats reclined.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Is he dead.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
But sharpie mustache? Until we had Zoe. The last movie
I went to go see in a theater twice was
Pulp Fiction. That's how big a deal it was. That's
how good of a movie I thought it was when
it came out. And honestly, I went back the second

(01:58):
time that because my favorite scene is the dance contest. Like,
of all the stuff that does, but the dance cont.

Speaker 2 (02:03):
Just want to go hang out at Jack Rabbits Lives.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
It's just oh my god, it's Steve ACHEMI just with
the cameo as the waiter, but just that the whole scene.
The scene is coming up now, we're gonna see just
that hole. Because Travolta dancing was such a big deal,
you know, the fame he had for Grease and Saturday
Night Fever. And then this is his big comeback, you know,
in ninety four. It's like no one's put Travolta in
anything in years, like his career was done. And he

(02:26):
comes back and now he's dancing and to come in
he does a twist, right and that and that's what
it is, and him and Uma Thurman, and I said
that was my favorite scene. I went back. I want
to see that scene again. So I went to see
Pulp Fiction twice. That's the last movie I've seen the
outside of going Zoey bring in her to movies when
she was younger. You go see, that's the last one
I've seen twice in there. That's pretty impressive.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Yeah, I've seen probably seven or eight movies this year
in the theater twice.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
Now I'm gonna go back again. I like him Big
Mac with cheese, Royale with cheese. What about a whopper?
I didn't go into Burger King.

Speaker 2 (02:58):
It's pretty good. Of course, I can't near in my neighborhood.
They all shut down. They're all chicken places. You know,
they're called one hundred dollars.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
Fox We were Foxy Chicks. Force we were forced to
be reckoned with in five because there was one, two, three, four,
five of us surprise that never got green flop Fox
Wars five Now it would nowadays it would.

Speaker 2 (03:21):
But like that, it hasn't been resurrected by somebody that
learned that the feet of Tarantino.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Yeah, what was her specialty was explosives? Her specialty was it?

Speaker 3 (03:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Uh, considering Tarantina what he did in Glorious Bastards did
uh when they the movie they showed in the you
know the movie, they showed like they shot that movie right,
Like Eli Roth who was in the movie, shot that
movie like a seventy five minute movie. Shot that movie
that they showed in the movie. He's a fascinating dude,
Eli Roth. Some of the documentaries and yeah, trips down

(03:54):
his love of horror films and the genre and movie
making much such stuff. Much different opinion of Eli Off
now than when Cavin Fever came out and he was
the worst horror director that ever that ever walked the earth.
This guy is, He's the Antichrist. He's awful, he's terrible.
I love now he's got Now he's got a great ah.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Cavin Fever, Cavin Lavin fever.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
Was okay, but like it was okay, it was Cavin Field.
I didn't hate it, but Cavin Fever was ok I
didn't make a big it was okay.

Speaker 4 (04:30):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (04:31):
Now this story and I mean, I can't believe this
story is real. And I went and looked in so
many different areas now because we talked about a little
bit last hour, But I can't believe it's real. But no,
the Mets beat and now we got a three game
lead in the lost column on the Reds. Dave portnoy
Barstool Sports, who has now signed a deal and now

(04:51):
got his stuff going on with Fox a very big
story a few weeks ago. He is not allowed in
the stadium Saturday for Fox pre and postgame show when
they broadcast Ohio State in Texas. Now, why is why
is Dave porton Dave Port and I not there? Because
he is absolutely, as you have seen, an unabt Michigan

(05:13):
grad Michigan fan. What did he tweet out last week
when the fine was was given to Michigan He was
a strain money bro. I can't believe that Ohio State
has banned him from the stadium. This is this is
stunning to me as much as the Ohio State Michigan rivalry,
how big it gets. This is so petty, and I

(05:35):
look to you make sure this is a real story,
not an Onion story. But you see everybody that's got
it front office Sports. Yah, it's legit. He is how
I mean, you won the national bleeping championship last year
and you're acting like a like a petulant little brother.
I'm gonna I'm gonna hold my breath. Oh I can't
have port and I'm gonna hold my breath until you agree.
Like they can say they can tell Fox, Like really,

(05:56):
they can tell Fox you can't have to have put
Dave Portnoy in the I'm guessing you want to keep
your your broadcast partners happy, right, I mean Foxes is
going in a partnership with Dave Portnoy and Barstool Sports
not to have him banned from the stadium. Really, I mean,
this is this is so petty on a thousand levels
from Ohio State, but this is they just won the title. Yeah,

(06:20):
I get that, and we're saying you can't bring a
broadcaster in because he's pro Michigan. I'm sorry, but it's
been okay all these last years with with Kirk krb
Street being Ohio state guy doing all these big games
for ESPN. Right, that's been okay, no, everybody got no
problem with that, No problem with that. Oh but here's
port Really.

Speaker 2 (06:37):
He didn't mock final Look, man, it's pettiness and this
is great pageantry leading up until that moment, because let's
let's face it, right, Lee Corso is about to hang
up the the heads of all the mascots. How about
that becomes Dave Portnoy is in Entry on Saturday. He
comes in like a mascot he can. Then he takes

(07:00):
the head off. Here I am take that.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
He's really Lee Kors but this trojanas this is Lee
Corso's last week, this is his last appearance. It's a
big deal for him. Like you can't mess around with
a take. Put in the headgear and you got to
give Lee Corso his edgear moment here for you know,
seventy years of college.

Speaker 2 (07:17):
Okay, so what he does it at nine fifty You
do yours at nine fifty one? The way we go, Wow,
look at you, man, he's got a documentaries.

Speaker 1 (07:25):
What I'm like, he's had a great run. I'm talking
about I'm talking about heritage and legacy and all the year. Yeah,
just throw it out.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
No, hey, we celebrated. We've been celebrating it for a year,
for ten years. I mean we have every year. It
was okay, Leek Corse was coming back great, and I
respect the man and his history. I'm trying to figure
out how to get the next greatest moment that we
can here for our Fox family. And Dave Portnoy is

(07:54):
part of the Fox family now, which means if he's
got to put on a mascot head to get into
that stated to be part.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
Of the Sudden Death, I'm gonna dress like the mascot.
Sorry spoiler, Yes he dresses. He also gets in the
game as a goalie, which is okay.

Speaker 2 (08:11):
Or they bring him in through a laundry cart like
he's tailors.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Like I don't know, but I can't believe you can
do this, Like what's their reasoning? But well, number one,
what's there? Horrible people there? Okay, but what's that?

Speaker 2 (08:31):
No, I didn't say that that was a good break neck.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
What's their reasoning? They can say for yes, here's our
broadcast partner, big nude kickoff all of this, Yes, but
you can't have him in why because he's a Michigan fan,
Like he's gonna say, stuff.

Speaker 2 (08:48):
Hey, we have the right to refuse service to anybody, shoes,
no shirt, no service again.

Speaker 1 (08:54):
You want to keep your broadcast partners happy.

Speaker 2 (08:58):
And this now live for the next five Dan Portnoy
gets some un you.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
Look, so you're again you won the national championship. I guarantee. Now.
I said this last year when when Ohio State won
the national title. I said, okay. You would ask get
three Ohio State fans uh in a room and say, okay,
how do you feel about the season? And the first
one would say, we're the national champs. It's an awesome year.

(09:25):
It's fantastic, We're the best team. You know, suck it right.
Second person would say, we won the national title. We won,
it's awesome, we validated. I wish you would have beat Michigan,
but where the champs. Third fan would say, doesn't mean
anything because we lost to Michigan. Doesn't mean that we
lost to Michigan. What what? This season's an absolute abject failure, right,
absolute object failure. Now, I would say probably one out

(09:49):
of every two Ohio State fans would say it was
a failure because we lost to Michigan. Like the national
title thing just doesn't really resonate, But the losing to
Michigan is what resid I guarantee every other Ohio State
fan would have a different view of last season now.
And and I don't know if that's that's part of
what drives this. But how petty and little kid do

(10:10):
you look? You are the champs. You can hang a
big banner that says national Champions out. I just saw
the Michigan banner outside the Big House for the year
before and it's it's as big as the Empire State Building.
I saw that. You can hang that banner. But oh no, no,
we're the champs. But it doesn't matter. No, you can't
bring a guy in because he's a Michigan fan and
he's gonna say things. It's got I am. I am

(10:31):
floored by this story, and really and I thought for
the longest time this was a fake story.

Speaker 2 (10:35):
Now here you go. Portnoy responded on his Twitter account,
and it's a picture of him and he's got a mustache, sunglasses.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
Just thereafter hold on, wait, he looks like Wade Bogs
a little bit, like is he going on horseback? He's
going in his wade Bogs hang on. You know, he
looks like you know, it's like if way, if you
did it, if the picture to day point, if you
did wade Bogs and you aim uh morphed him with
shod Khan. Oh okay, I'm also thinking he looks a

(11:06):
little bit like Jesse Hughes Eagles of Death Metal.

Speaker 2 (11:08):
Look it up. But one of the first responses, and
here's the quote, you need tickets Connor Stallions.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Oh boy, no, like there you go, Connor.

Speaker 2 (11:27):
Welcome to college football twenty twenty five, Davy.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
I really hope Connor Stallions goes to the game and
they show him in the crowd and he's just waving. No,
he just has and he has a phone in his
hand and he like is taking the picture of the
of the camera as they're as they're on to him. Hey,
guess fun here I am guys. Hey, Connor Stallion's waving
to you is awesome. How you do it? I really
this is so petty and petulant by Ohio and it
doesn't it.

Speaker 2 (11:49):
Just but do just smacks of Ohio State. Ohio State
is still mad at the penalties because okay, they write
a check. Jim Harbaugh's not coming back to college football
and you're a head coach more missing a couple of games.

Speaker 1 (12:07):
You shrug, you move on for Ohio State. They go back.

Speaker 2 (12:10):
There's still mad and I think rightly so for the time,
but at some point, you know, get over it. The
whole tattoo scandal again, which is one of the dumbest
things ever. I have this stuff they gave me, I
don't want it. What can I do? I can exchange
it for goods and services.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Unless I can't? Uh isn't wait? Wait wait, hang on,
hang on a second. Yeah, so college game day is there? Right?

Speaker 2 (12:35):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (12:37):
Right, so they're there. Everybody's him from an Ohio State Gium.
If it was in Texas. No, no, no, what I'm saying,
I'm getting to something. I'm leaning to something's gonna go
steal the head? Wait now is is?

Speaker 4 (12:50):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (12:50):
Is Desmond Howard Bands? Howard Band in Michigan? Right? Heisman trophy?
Boy did the Heisman post? Right? That was against the
last stuff. But that was on camera, on camera, on camera, Okay,
just making sure because I'm wondering, like who, actually they're
just banning anybody. I wonder if if my wife went

(13:13):
to Michigan, Like, am I banned you are?

Speaker 2 (13:20):
I told you though, mascot, know how.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
You dressed like a mascot to just let me walk
right in and act like you belong you.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
The bus shows up, child gets off the bus, and
then you just get in line with everybody else. Prove
to me you're the Texas mascot. Okay, come on in,
come on in, everybody all right to work? Exit out
bout a fresca, exit swallowed. I mean, I'm so embarrassed
for Ohio State, the national champions say, oh guess what

(13:53):
you uh, you can't you can't camping your broadcast.

Speaker 1 (13:56):

Speaker 1 (16:41):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. Yeah, we'll get to that big football
story in a second, but this is just this is
absolutely trippy. So it's not a great year for the
Saint Louis Cardinals. Right they're hovering around five hundred. They
were in the wild card race. I would say they

(17:01):
were kind of in it for about a week. They're
still they're not too far. They're only five and a
half games out, which is not insurmountable. It's not great,
but it's not insurmountable. So it's not like they're at
the bottom of the They're not having a season like
the Braves or the Pirates or the National Sugar Coated
it's not. But yeah, tonight the Cardinals paid attendance was

(17:24):
seventeen thousand, six hundred and seventy five. Okay, so what
see that? Okay, that is the lowest in the history
of this incarnation of Bush Stadium. But Bush Stadium, the
third which opened in two thousand and six, Bush League,
this is before that, it was Bush stadium, but they

(17:45):
made changes and adjustments. This is the lowest in the
history of this Bush statum, which goes back over twenty years,
and the first time they have ever sold, ever have
sold under twenty thousand tickets for a game. Well, how
far of the Cardinals fallen? My goodness, the chickens came

(18:09):
home roost. They missed a good show. I mean, the
seventeen thousand plus that bought tickets at least saw the
Wilson Contres meltdown.

Speaker 2 (18:16):
So I got that gift tonight.

Speaker 1 (18:18):
According to the Athletic, it's the first time they've had
one single game attendance below twenty thousand since August of
nineteen ninety seven. Wow, so they were below But obviously
that was more than this was seventeen thousand tonight. Now
obviously COVID doesn't count because we play games without sure
without people.

Speaker 2 (18:36):
Well, I mean, you had cardboard guys in there. That
is that was cool? Look at that how many cardboard guys?

Speaker 1 (18:44):
Though? We had a forty five.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
Forty five thousand cardboard cutouts. They were all bought by
the same guy in different poses.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
This is this story is just I can't get over it.

Speaker 2 (18:53):
He motion movie. Uh, no, Look, eventually there's going to
be that that down. And then look, they're only two
games under five hundred, so it's not like they've fallen
to the I don't know, White Sox level. I'll take
my own team and throw them in there, or the
Colorado Rockies. But when you're used to winning and dominating,

(19:14):
and I don't know what the weather necessarily has been there,
but plenty of storms in the Midwest, plenty of upper
ninety degree high humidity days, you'd rather do something else
than go watch losing baseball.

Speaker 1 (19:26):
Yeah, I mean, look, and it's not like there was
a hoboob going through town. There was Phoenix. If there
was a hoboob going through town, you can understand. I
would get absolutely understand.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
If nothing else, you want to stand outside and watch
the haboo Yeah, I'm gonna go to the game. Why
it's the best place to see haboob. See, there's the market,
there's a marketing play. Not only do you get to
see the Pirates, you may get to see.

Speaker 1 (19:48):
Wait, is it a Scheens night, because I'm not going
if it's a Skreens night. I don't want a Schemes
night to be by itself. All right, that's good, right, good.

Speaker 2 (19:54):
But then you might get to see Livy Dunn and.

Speaker 1 (19:59):
Say, under, I mean that is I can't get over
that under seventeen thousand, oh twenty the lowest crowd in
the history of the stadium, lowest crowded in thirty years.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Mean, wha aren't you setting records? Didn't I read again
about the Mets and there and their attendance.

Speaker 1 (20:18):
Yeah, we're doing great. We sell We sell out on
like Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday nights, and I'm like, we're doing great.
It's gotta have a big game, and it is great.
Now five games in the standings, that's what separates it.
Five games, five games, five games Now not interested Cardinals.

Speaker 2 (20:31):
For the first time since City Field opened in two
thousand and nine. Now this is a little bit older
data point, but even going back to the end of June,
they were in the top five for the first time
since two thousand and nine for home attendance. Yeah, that's
pretty impressible because last year wasn't as great as you
thought it was gonna be. But that's what happens. Hey,
the team got good, they added one Soto. You sell

(20:53):
more season tickets, more people buy single game tickets, it's
a big you need like that year effect to go
into into it, which is and now if they didn't
have the increased I said, okay, there's problems, but they
had the big increase this year. So I think they're
the top four, top five ever. Want to hear that
their fans are the best? Ever again?

Speaker 1 (21:09):
Oh Cardinals fans, Yeah, they're the worst. The ones who
went tonight are the best fans. They're not seventeen. It's
nothing better to do that. I you know, it's funny
because I think about this because I remember this is
when I knew the Whalers were gonna move from Hartford.
Is that Peter Carmanos who bought the team in like
ninety four ninety five. He bought the team and he

(21:34):
was going to keep the team in Hartford, but things
weren't going well, so we said, if we can't if
we can't sell out something over this two week span,
like I'm gonna I have to look into moving the team.
And he wanted money, like he wanted all this crazy
stuff from the state of Connecticut. He wasn't gonna get
and uh so he wound up moving the team. And
when they asked, I think he had This was the
quote where he says, we have fifteen thousand of the

(21:56):
best fans in hockey, but that's it, Like, but plainly
that's what we got though those are the only fans
in Connecticut.

Speaker 2 (22:01):
I'm like, okay, well it's fifteen out of probably what
eighteen five?

Speaker 1 (22:06):
I mean, that's not bad. It's near to a sellout.

Speaker 2 (22:08):
Man getting close and yes, since it wasn't a Schemes
day unless he was going to come and sign autographs
for every one of those seventeen thousand, you showing up
in the middle of the week or early week for
the Pirates, nobody. I got home from work. It's really
been hot and sweltering. I busted my ass for ten hours.
Hey we got ticket?

Speaker 1 (22:29):
No, not happening.

Speaker 2 (22:31):
How many were sold? Question?

Speaker 1 (22:34):
That's always count tickets sold, right, as long as you
know they were sold. We would go to We would
go to Syracuse Chief games, right, my dad. I've not
been to any more games my life. When the Syracuse
Chief games over a four year span, I think I
went to like three hundred Chief games and they would
always in their reps them went they would always no, no,
we were terrible. But it did see because that.

Speaker 2 (22:55):
You couldn't see a lot of guys.

Speaker 1 (22:56):
I I got see all the guys that became part
of the Blue Jays back to back World Series teams
in ninety two ninety three. Like one Goosman came up
through there, and and and a whole bunch of other players.
Is like, wow, they're all really good. Mark Whitton came
up through there. But I remember they would always there
was like maybe three hundred people at the game, and
they would say tonight's attendance is three four hundred and seven.
Everybody's just laugh going, come on, man, there's three hundred

(23:17):
people here. You're talking about three times. But they would
count all the season tickets and tickets sold. It's like,
there's only three hundred people here tonight, man, not even.

Speaker 2 (23:24):
Gotta celebrate those benefactors. Come on, man.

Speaker 1 (23:27):
Now from the NFL today, I'm a little bummed that
my Big Bowl prediction that the Browns are gonna start
all five quarterbacks this year, now I gotta come up
with another couple of different ones because Tyler Henley got
cut over the weekend, and today the Browns traded Kenny
Pickett to the Raiders. So now the Browns quarterback depth
chart is Joe Flacco, Dylan Gabriel, Schador Sanders. Right, so

(23:49):
I'm a little upset. Now, it doesn't mean they're still
not going to start five quarterbacks. I just have to
figure out who are the other guys at some point.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
Like come back?

Speaker 1 (23:56):
Yeah, so I got to figure out somebody else who's
gonna be there at some Mike White maybe he just
got cut today. So maybe Mike White is a guy
that hangs out and he starts the last couple of
games for the Browns, Like I could see that. So
they're still gonna get five, It's just gonna be a
different five now, all right, that's fine.

Speaker 2 (24:10):
Nate Sudfeld could show up any day now.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
But a couple of things, like something a little bit
different about Shador Sanders, because clearly the storyline with him
is still going. Now he's bumped up to third, right,
he was fourth, Right now he's the third because they
traded Kenny Pickett.

Speaker 2 (24:25):
Are people happy and he moved up?

Speaker 1 (24:27):
The depth chart is that you know, Look when I
say this, it's gonna make sense and make more sense
why Shador Sanders has had the preseason that he has
had in which he's been slow played and a lot
of decisions that have been made have been head scratchers,
And there's many different things. In many you've heard hot
takes of, Uh, the Browns don't want him, they're mistreating

(24:49):
him as a quarterback. The Eric Dickerson story that he
knows that the teams were told not to draft Shador Sanders. Well,
if they were told not to draft him, and the Browns
didn't have to take him, but they still took him
when clearly they could have sucked this year and tanked
for Arch Manning with Dylan Gabriel and Joe Flacco and
snoopun Lee slash Kenny Pickett. They didn't need adge door standards,
but they did.

Speaker 3 (25:08):
So.

Speaker 1 (25:08):
Why has is Sanders been treated this way? Why has
he not been able to move the depth chart despite
the fact he had a really good week one of
the preseason. Why is he still being looked at as
and being talked about as he's someone that is barely
holding on to his roster spot when his talent level
is there, but obviously he needs some time. His game
this weekend wasn't that great, but his Week one was

(25:30):
really good. Now, Number one, I'll throw this out there
because we talked about this in the past. The Browns
want to make sure he's mature enough to handle being
a starting quarterback, because what have they seen in the
offseason two bad speeding his situations that did not make
him look good. He yells at one of his wide
receivers after he got sacked in his debut, which, boy,
that's not a good optic. He gets into it with

(25:51):
a reporter following the game who nedn't said anything good
about him and Tony Grossey in Cleveland. Meanwhile, it was
kind of a ha ha ha, but still it was
bad optics on Shador Sanders that hey, he needs a
little bit more mech of the maturation process to become
a starting quarterback, because it's a bigger deal when you
become the face of a billion dollar franchise or multi

(26:13):
billion dollar franchise. But the other part of it is
this is that and now and you think about it
because you know Browns, because how inept the Browns have
been even when they drafted Shador Sanders. The Browns didn't
get what they were going to be in for by
bringing him onto the roster. And to be fair for
them in the beginning, I don't think a lot of teams,

(26:35):
and a lot of us thought that Shadoor Sanders was
going to dominate conversation and interest level in him was
going to be coast to coast. At the high that
it's been, he's been the only real story in the preseason,
and as a result, when all these negative stories come up,
whether it is the reporter story or the speeding story
or Chador Sanders is really good story or he's really

(26:56):
bad story, the Browns weren't ready for the amount of
attention and oxygen that Sanders is gonna suck out of
the room. So to do anything I don't want to say, nizer,
but to do anything bold as far as his status
on the team, like move him up the depth chart, uh,
or you give him a chance to start all of this.
They know that whatever move they make is gonna be

(27:19):
dealt with so much scrutiny that this is decision that
can blow up in their faces. So they don't really
know how to handle this guy being so much of
the daily story because they've been used to the last
few years going to Sean Watson's your quarterback. We don't
want even want to talk about your team, So hey, okay,
well no, we don't want to talk about you. We
don't want to talk about to Sean Watson, so you're
off the radar. But now Shoudoor Sanders has put you

(27:42):
strictly on the radar, and whatever they do, they know
is gonna be front page news. So they want to
slow play this until they really understand what kind of
talent that is, because this is a guy that's an
outsized personality, outsize attention. But at the same time, he's
a backup quarterback, So we don't want to move him
up too quickly. We don't move them down too quickly.
We're gonna talk about him too over the top and

(28:04):
giving him praise. We don't want to give him too
much criticism because we don't know how it's gonna play.
Because whatever he does mushrooms out of control. Again, his
story sucks all the oxygen out of the room. So
everything with him is being slow played and behind closed
doors because they don't know how to handle it. They
don't know how to handle him being on and being
this big of a personality and a story.

Speaker 2 (28:24):
Well, to be fair, I mean you brought up the
he must not be named to go all Voldemort talking
about Deshaun Watson. They brought him in a year after
those allegations. They traded for him, and then they signed
him to an almost all guaranteed deal, right full on guaranteed,
here we go, which is why all the owners hate him.
By the way, his agent's the same guy that represents

(28:44):
Michael Parsons. But all of that to say that if
he was that good to be the number one guy,
he'd be the number one guy. Kevin Stefanski, I don't
think he's gonna wait to ordain him the number one
guy if he's ready to play. So you know, behind
the scenes, I gotta I gotta give him some credit
that it's a he still needs to learn. And we

(29:06):
saw that week three, didn't get to play in the
week twos game, Week one against the Ones, didn't play
so well. Substitutions come through, had his moments, had his
and we know the athleticism we watched it. You know,
I kept hearing the site citation of his accuracy right

(29:27):
of his completion percentage from college, like I watched that
with Caleb Williams. It was only sixty two and a
half percent. But you know what, you can have an
interceptionallest streak, you know, how you take the sack instead
of actually trying to make a play or.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
Throwing the ball away. Tada, my numbers higher.

Speaker 2 (29:42):
But all of that to say is as you move
forward Cleveland, you don't go into a year saying, all right,
we're gonna just decide we're gonna take our lumps. We
recognize they're not gonna be a very good team. They're
not the same roster they were two or three years ago.
When Watson came in. That was a team that a
lot of analysts looked at and said, hey, this could

(30:03):
be one of your top five rosters if this guy's
any good. And guess what. He took a year off
before he showed up, and guess what, he wasn't good,
And he's been terrible all the way through, and now
he's hurt all the time, et cetera. So they've been
on the radar. They've just been getting all the poison
pens all the way through, which is why as soon
as there was more of the same, Tony Grosei and

(30:23):
all those guys were ready for it. Look, I think
a lot of folks would love to watch him succeed.
We saw some great moments when he was at Colorado.
But I can't believe that Kevin Stefanski would be saying, Nah,
we're just gonna watch and learn and see what happened.
Certainly Jimmy Haslin he wants to see it succeed or
fail because he wants to.

Speaker 1 (30:43):
Put it on Andrew Berry.

Speaker 2 (30:44):
Remember when he said, Hey, the decision to bring him
in was him write that guy right over there.

Speaker 1 (30:50):
Don't look at me. Put the cameras over there. Right

Speaker 1 (33:16):
Yes, okay, you also can't say the Mets trail the
Phillies by six. You can't sit here and say, oh,
the Mets trail the Phillies by six in the trol
me and then me say, but they're three games up
on the Reds. Go that doesn't matter. Now, you can't
give me that doesn't matter. This is the problem.

Speaker 4 (33:34):
I gave the standings to all the divisions from when
I got to the East.

Speaker 1 (33:37):
You consider it a troll in the Al East. Toronto,

Speaker 4 (33:44):
Still five games over Boston, five and half up on
the Yankees.

Speaker 1 (33:48):
You call bud ceiling, you purest No Bud ceiling would
be okay with the ton.

Speaker 4 (33:55):

Speaker 1 (34:10):
Miami beat Atlanta two to one.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
Attendance eight thousand and one eleven Miami saying to Saint
Louis ce, now that's a small crowd.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
