Speaker 2 (00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Hello, Welcome inside final hour tonight the Jason Smith Show
with my bass friend Mike Harmon. I'm an ass man
true closing in on the trade deadline in Major League Baseball.
We saw finally saw the biggest name get dealt a
little bit less than an hour ago. Look, we started

(00:49):
the show tonight saying, hey, we gonna get a passing
bomb at some point tonight. Right, we get a passing
bomb late tonight, Well we got one as the Maritors
reacquire Gen Suarez from the Arizona Diamondbacks in exchange for
a couple of pitchers and a player that, hey, you know,
hasn't really been able to cut through a second round

(01:09):
pick from a couple of years ago. And I know
Jerry Depoto ain't the most popular guy. In Seattle. Just
don't tell everybody you expect to win fifty four percent
of your games with Suarez the rest of the season.
But this was a great all in move, and I
love it because, yes, it brings a guy having a
great career year back to Seattle where he's comfortable, where
obviously he wanted to come back to. But this is

(01:31):
a year where look the American League, it's not filled
with a bunch of teams that you're in awe of
where you're intimidated by, Like you look at the National
League and you get to a point where, man, the
Brewers have been playing fantastic baseball for the better part
of the last couple of months. The Dodgers still the Dodgers.
The Padres in there, lights out bullpen. The Cubs are
so good, the top of their lineup just matches. The

(01:53):
Mets are so dangerous. The Phillies are really good. Like
all these teams, you can say wow, But you look
at the American League, Man, it is wide open, because yes,
the Blue Jays have been hot, but do they scare
you as a team that's gonna run away. No, the
Tigers have been the best team in the American League
all season, But they're basically a team that they're overachieving.
A lot of their position players are overachieving. Yes, they

(02:14):
have a great pitching staff, and Tarik school bll is phenomenal,
but none of these teams really scare you. Even the
Astros have been playing a bit over their heads for
a while, but now they're coming back to earth a
little bit. Like this is one of those years in
the American League where you say why not us? And
you say whined us? If you're the Jays or the Yankees,
or the Red Sox, or or the Tigers or even
the Guardians, the Astros, now the Mariners. Tonight even the

(02:37):
Rangers can say, hey, why not? The Angels are saying
why not us? They wouldn't got a couple of guys
like the Angels are going for it, so like this
is your year in the American League to say, you
know what, let's be that aggressive team at the deadline.
And it's not like the Maroons went out and traded
away a bunch of top rated prospects. They did not
for to get Suarez back, so all of a sudden,
now they made a couple.

Speaker 3 (02:58):
Other moves this week too.

Speaker 1 (02:59):
They got Tiler and this Mariners team can be really scary,
but the guts of going out and getting Suarez, this
is one of those moves that that jump starts the season.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
Man, I love everything about this. For Seattle. Yeah, expiring
contract guy having a monster year, averted crisis. We talked
about it with Martin because he needs a little consolation. Right,
hit him on the hand. Whether it was well, we'll
get a damaged guy that comes here, but we'll have
to pay less to get him. Instead, you got nothing
as he goes to Seattle.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
Oh, I'm sorry, he got hit in the hand.

Speaker 1 (03:29):
So we had that you're getting prospect number eleven instead
of prospect number seven.

Speaker 4 (03:33):
That's what that is, damn right. But I mean legitimately,
in the American League, there are only two teams that
you say you have no chance in hell of doing anything.
You've got the A's and you got the White Sox,
both of whom have been pretty entertaining these last couple
of weeks. We had the Nick Kurtz Game the other night.
White Sox have been scoring runs and bunches in a
bunch of these games since the All Star break. That's

(03:54):
all finding good. They're now up to forty and forty
eight wins respectively. The A's with that commanding lead over
the White Sox, but otherwise even going down to Baltimore
seven games out of a playoff spot right when we're
looking at it. So you got the opportunity to go
on a run. They're six and four of their last ten.
But for Seattle, yeah, you've got Cal Rowley. How many

(04:18):
more these years are gonna get? Julio Rodriguez always starts
a bit slow but eventually finds a stroke. So you're
right rather the hot hand. All these other teams you've mentioned,
they've got their issues. National League Cubs made a pickup,
they get soroca from the Nationals. They're expected to still
be active before the deadline. You got them. You're the

(04:40):
fighting Phils who you hate so much. Padres, winners of
five straight. They're a pain in the ass and getting better,
Dylan Ceezes actually giving them quality starts now after a
rough start to things. So yeah, you've got a couple
of teams that stand out, and then there's a giant
wash between injuries and just overall roster construction having been

(05:01):
faulty from the start. American League, why not take your shot?
I mean, because the other part is, you know, if
you're a GM, as long as you're not going into
some prohibitive world in terms of adding massive salary or
risking the ruining the headlines. If you traded away our future,

(05:21):
I'll blank the future. I got a chance to win now,
and I may not be here tomorrow. If that future
comes three years from now, yeah, I'll get the fifth
line in the Wikipedia page to say I was the
guy that drafted in, but I won't be here to
enjoy the success. So damn it. We're going for it now. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Now, look, and I love the I love the guts
on this, especially when you're not giving up a lot
and and yes, you're gonna compare what you're what all
teams are gonna say, well, we gave up so and
so for this player, but this team only gave up
so and so for that player. In the end, you're
giving up prospects, guys that are years away that may
they may turn out, they may not turn out, Okay, Right, Like, Okay,

(05:58):
how many years did I did I sit there and say,
Jared Klnick, I can't believe we made that.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
We had to trade, and we had to trade.

Speaker 3 (06:04):
I can't believe.

Speaker 4 (06:05):
I can't believe that, right, and I have to worry
about it.

Speaker 1 (06:07):
Right, It turned out Jared Kelvick turned out to be
a guy, and that I didn't have to worry about,
right it. It just scared me for the longest time
that Okay, Klnick's gonna be great.

Speaker 4 (06:14):
Well, I mean, he had a week here and there
where suddenly like all right, he's figuring it out. Oh man,
oh no, no, that that didn't happen.

Speaker 3 (06:21):
I never had to worry about the guy. Now I
gotta worry about Pete crow Armstrong.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
That's the guy I worry about it.

Speaker 4 (06:27):
That one's not going away. Yeah, there's stuff with that one,
it seems for a while. I mean, and we talked
about you know, between he Tucker and Suzuki, you've got
a trio there that's pretty fun to watch, but which
you know, it pains me to say, uh, as a
south side Chicago kid, but but hey, good baseball is
good baseball. But but it is curious, right, looking at

(06:48):
some of the principles that are may being included in
these trades. You got guys that are I guess would
still qualify as a twenty nine or thirty year old prospect, right,
or there are a couple of young flame throwers that
have been included in these deals. We saw six' five
lefty who's still in HIGH a right that, okay might
might turn into the big, thing but at this point

(07:11):
has been pretty. Wild good strikeout, rate but huge walk.
Rate you, know we get into some of those metrics
and ALL i can you can have this. Laugh you
were on vacation the new tops chrome came, out, right
this big. Thing there's a bunch of chase cards and.
All but what they do have is always a huge prospect, list,
Right so the autographs you get one a box or

(07:31):
you go to the jonebo and you get, three and
immediately people are, like, wait this is one of THE
i get one autograph in this box for a couple hundred,
bucks and it's a guy who's a thirty one year
old prospect who hasn't pitched above DOUBLE.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
A what the hell are we doing? Here so that's that.

Speaker 4 (07:49):
Guys but those are some of the trades we're seeing.
Here it's, like who's that? Guy, yeah he rates highly
in the organization of, prospects which means their prospects system.
Sucks like there's not a lot of depth beyond that
first four or five guys that are at TRIPLE. A
so you, know you take it all with a grain of,
salt because until they actually show up and, perform it doesn't.

(08:11):
Matter even the best of a lot of our players
struggle those first couple of, years and then you watch
them bounce two to three teams away from The White
sox And mets before they really get. Good See Andrew
vaughn twenty, Seven Milwaukee. Rivers so there's your big trade.
Tonight your other big baseball news tonight Was Shoho tani

(08:34):
leaving tonight's game for The dodgers as a pitcher after suffering.
Cramps he threw six balls in a row in the fourth.

Speaker 1 (08:42):
Inning dodgers took him, out and we've heard right away
it came out it's.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
Cramps he's. Fine they really.

Speaker 4 (08:48):
Fine. Scramps did they do an investigation of those wasted
pitches like You cleveland, Pitcher.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Yeah just so you, know it's, Cramps and both he
And Dave roberts blame the way cramping in his right.
Hip he was scheduled to go four, innings but it was,
hot it was. Humid, uh we start seeing. Numbers here's
the heat index and the temperature at first pits, Like,
okay we're really going too crazy With?

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Otani are we.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
Getting get a bunch of studies now of the optimal?
Tense you know that that that dead zone where suddenly
you're that much more? Privy? Dude? Cramping is that going
to be one of the lower thirds in the next
start by one of these? Guys you?

Speaker 1 (09:27):
Know the thing is this and this is Where, look
it's great news obviously that it's just a cramp For.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Otani they took him.

Speaker 1 (09:33):
Out he said he hasn't been feeling right the last
couple of, days, uh, physically and here he is in to.
Pitch AND i just wanted while this, STOPPED i gotta
ask the honest, question and even the most Diehard dodger
fans or Are otani, apologists how how long Is otani
really going to pitch? For if this is what you're gonna,
do if you're gonna try to bring him back to

(09:55):
be a starting, pitcher how how long do you really
expect this to? HAPPEN i mean to be, Honest, like
the guy is thirty, one it's gonna be thirty. Two
he's got two bad elbow.

Speaker 4 (10:05):
Injuries. Already he's still working his way.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
Back, up and here he left tonight after a cramping is,
right just a crampy issue. Tonight but let's be, honest
is are you ever gonna really Have otani in a
position where he's going to start in the? End you've
seen that maybe the rigors of him playing and pitching
every day you could only do for a certain amount of,
time because clearly he is injury prone because he's had

(10:29):
the two bad elbow injuries. Already that's WHY i keep
Saying otani his present and his future should be as a,
closer because clearly he can still, pitch but it's how
many pitches does he? Have and he's going to extend
his career if he was a? CLOSER i, mean The.
Dodgers do you really think The dodgers are ever gonna
get to a point, where, like, Hey otani is, healthy

(10:51):
we're counting him for one hundred and seventy five innings this.
Year could you even Count otani for one hundred innings
in a? Year you, can't, right because clearly he has
had trouble staying, healthy pitching and. Hitting and the last
thing you want is for him to have an injury
pitching that's going to prevent him from being able to hit,
right because the good news was, Tonight, hey cramp in my,
hip BUT i was still able to go Dh.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
Right he was zero for four to four strikeouts last,
night oh for five last. Night he was oh for four.
Tonight so he's just going through it at the plate
a little.

Speaker 1 (11:18):
Bit but these are all little warning bells going, off Going,
okay you know here it is a. Cramp, okay how
much can you really expect him to be able to
come through as a?

Speaker 4 (11:26):
Pitcher?

Speaker 1 (11:27):
RIGHT i get that you're hurt now and you have
a lot of you made a lot of bad pitching
decisions for starting, pitchers which we'll get to in the
next few, minutes and so you need him to pitch
a little.

Speaker 3 (11:36):
Bit but let's be.

Speaker 1 (11:37):
Honest is he really going to be able to be
a point where you can count to be in the
starting rotation for.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
A, season for half a, season for a third of the, Season.

Speaker 3 (11:45):
Like, like what what do you?

Speaker 1 (11:46):
Want, LIKE i don't know what people are, expecting what
The dodgers are expecting from, him and at this point
in your, career, OKAY i think less innings and less
wear and tear is going to be better for him,
overall both as a hitter staying in the lineup and
as a pitcher because you've paid him a lot of.
Money closing. Works, right he can pitch seventy five innings a. Year,
right you don't worry about giving up THE dh position

(12:08):
in the ninth inning of the game because if he's
coming in to close the, game you're expecting the game
to be. Over you don't have to worry about batting. Anymore,
LIKE i don't understand what The dodgers and what they're
all Thinking otani that he can come back and be
someone that can pitch at a high level or a
dependable level in the. Rotation like you've seen this, Now

(12:29):
like we've seen it from the guy and you've seen. That,
okay he's gotten to a point where a little too
much over. Use now you've got to figure out something
different fro him for the rest of his, career because
if you just keep throwing him out there pitching and
increasing his his his innings and increasing his number of,
pitches LIKE i know how it's going to, end and
it's going to end with him not being able to.
Pitch and you just hope it's where to the point

(12:50):
where he can still hit and be in the lineup as.
Well at the same, TIME i think some of. It
you're looking around and certainly coming off of this. One
and we're not kidding when we talk about how quickly the,
hey it's only cramps got.

Speaker 4 (13:04):
Disseminated. Right normally guys leave for any level of, whatever,
dehydration twinge in the, arm, whatever, like we don't get
any of that for a while like. That but this was, Immediately,
hey cramps started to. Circulate to make, it make sure
you knew it wasn't a, muscle, muscle muscular, issue, muscle

(13:27):
try a, Muscle, NO i. WAS i was going to
conflate a couple of words, there and then it just
blew up in my head as it.

Speaker 1 (13:33):
Did muscle is The german word for. Muscle, yeah, see
there you, go k el. Muscle SO i am actually
bilingual and didn't know. It i'm going to add that
to my resume and we'll trot that. Out but just the,
idea you, know not a nerve, issue not a muscular,
issue not you, know nothing with his elbow or his
shoulder or any of that.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Stuff it became all, right it's. Cramps, okay so crisis.
Averted but maybe one of those moments as everybody convened
in the back and you're looking at your, rotation going
how quickly are these other guys coming back to bear
and you, know to the forefront of what we need
to get done because you've utilized the bullpen a lot
and that worked to great success a year. Ago At Dave.

(14:16):
Roberts we gave him full credit through the entire playoff,
run the year of living dangers Like Joe madden going
back to The cubs in twenty, Sixteen remember a lot
of his moves were, like, BOY i don't, know, man
that's going to the. Well often all it. Worked it
worked For, madden it worked For roberts and the team
as they orchestrated everything last. Year but you're in that same.

(14:36):
Position you're within one or two games of what your
record was a year ago at this. Time so, okay
despite the appearances and catastrophe of all the little subplots going,
on you're essentially in the same. Spot problem Is padres
starting to play good. Baseball we just chronicled some of
the other teams in The National league that you, know

(14:57):
have those front end starters that will become. Problematic so
For Shoe, otani does he retreat to a little more
of a every sixth day and you get him a
couple innings here and. There we don't know what's going
on With sasaki right. Now glass now has been back
in the. ROTATION a couple of good starts got rocked
a little bit, yesterday so you, know trying to figure,

(15:20):
out you, know where show he fits in all of
this and, think you, know you're going back to my
mom's old idea of save him for, good let him,
hit let him steal. Bases he's already over one hundred runs.
Scored don't, tempt don't tempt baseball. Fate and to a,
DEGREE i have to agree with, that particularly if these
other arms come riding to the.

Speaker 1 (15:41):
Rescue i'm telling, you, man you just you know how
it's gonna end For. Otani The dodgers just a different
decision has to be because you can see. IT i
get that you you want to ignore it or think
that that it could have turned out, different but it's.
Not you got to see how the last couple of
years have been and where he's at physically for, him so,
hey hope he comes back obviously and stay in the.

(16:01):
Lineup but, boy you are tempting fate every time you
put him out there and say go, ahead start start for.
Us it's like The angels Putting Mike trout out in the.
Outfield you are tempting fate every time you put him
in the field that he's going to get hurt.

Speaker 4 (16:13):
And not be able to dach and at least hit
for you one hundred and forty games a. Year it's
how he got that thousand tharbi the other day. Though
it's a good.

Speaker 1 (16:19):
Friend we'll have more on The dodgers and their trade,
deadline what could be happening in the next twenty four,
hours plus a, great big FAT nfl training camp hot

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith show With my bes
Friend Mike. Harmon so a little bit more in The
dodger here before you get to that BIG nfl hot. Take, so,
Look otani gets hurt, tonight but it's only a. Cramp
we talked about it a few minutes ago about just
expecting him to be able to pitch and be a

(18:48):
healthy starting, pitcher and that's just it's not gonna, happen,
Right he's only gonna pitch.

Speaker 4 (18:55):
His as long as he.

Speaker 1 (18:57):
He'll pitch until he can't. Pitch, anymore, right and that's
not going to be very. Long how many innings can
he really? Go like his time as a starting pitcher
in baseball has, Ended BUT i get The dodgers wanting
to continue to run him out there, because, yes it's
a big it's a big boost to. Them and obviously
they have starting pitching, issues which sounds insane for a

(19:17):
team with a three hundred and fifty million dollar payroll
and going into, tomorrow they need to go get starting
pitchers and start because, look they've they've made a lot of,
mistakes and in theory and on, paper This dodgers roster
looks like the best roster That i've seen in twenty five.
Years but unfortunately the difference between paper and reality and

(19:38):
the reality is The dodgers spent five hundred million dollars
plus on starting, pitching which is not a great. Investment,
Right it's not, smart, right it's. Not there's no team
that has signed a starting pitcher to a two, hundred
one hundred and seventy five three hundred million dollar contract
where they, said, yeah that was worth.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
It that not.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
One, no go all the way back To Mike, hampton
it's not worth it because starting pitching is too, erratic
guys get, hurt. Ineffective it's a bad. Investment and this
is why The dodgers struggling so, much needs so much,
help because they spent so much money on starting pitching
that it's it's not like they went out and got
guys at A we know these guys one hundred percent

(20:17):
innings zeters and they're. Great every year they went out
and Signed Yoshinobu, Yamamotor, right everybody wanted the. GUY i get.

Speaker 4 (20:23):
It gave him three hundred million dollars.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
Last, year no. Good this year he's been pretty, good so.
Okay and and he's pitched well.

Speaker 4 (20:32):
This, year so.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Okay you want to Hope yamamoto is going to continue
to be that. Guy but you gave tons of money
To Blake, snell who really has only had two fantastic
years in his, career both when he wanted new, contracts
and he's been. Hurt and now what do you? Do same,
Thing Tyler. Glassnell, right he's been. Hurt how much can
you rely on?

Speaker 4 (20:51):
Him?

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Right you went out and spend a lot of money
On Tanner scott as well in the bullpend he got.
Hurt you have spent so much money on starting pitching
that when it doesn't when it doesn't come, through you
realize how much you're. Stuck and The dodgers are stuck
because what are you gonna? Do, Right you're gonna trade
away more of your prospects to bring in other starting.
Pictures like you decided to go spend this money that

(21:13):
you had because Shoe otani, Said, HEY i want to,
win So i'm gonna take less, money take two million
dollars a, year and you pay me balloon payments in ten.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
Years that's WHAT i.

Speaker 1 (21:21):
Want, oh, okay, Great but The dodgers went out instead of, saying,
hey let's spend some money and go get an every day, shortstop,
right let's go get a Guy's i'll, Oh i'm always
for paying a guy that's gonna play one hundred and
fifty games for.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
You i'm always for that instead of, ah but mookie
bets can?

Speaker 4 (21:34):
Play sure you? Canna, okay, wait what are we gonna?
Do what we what are we really trying to do? Here?
Right what do we really want to?

Speaker 1 (21:40):
Do instead of doing that or, saying, hey we're gonna
take this money and get into some and get some starting.
Pitchers but it's gonna be three, years seventy five million dollar.
Deals it's kind of what you want to do with starting,
pitching because if it doesn't work, out you want to
be able to.

Speaker 4 (21:54):
Move away from.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
It instead of doing, that it's been we're going all
in on these guys just because they're the best guys
that have come.

Speaker 3 (22:01):
Up they're the best guys that have been.

Speaker 1 (22:02):
Available And i'm, sorry but there's a difference between a
guy who's a great starting pitcher and a guy who
happened to be the best starting pitcher. Available you went
and got guys that have big question marks about, them
and you gave them tons of. Money and that's why
at a three hundred fifty million dollars, payroll you're still
looking for.

Speaker 4 (22:18):
Help.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
Tomorrow you are still looking For you're not. Invincible nobody
is scared of, you all. Right other teams, go, Hey
i'm ready to match up with you in a playoffs
Because i'll put my starting pitches up against your starting.
Pitchers i'll put my lineup against. Yours because the top
of the lineup hits for, you but now it's not.
Hitting and now the bottom of the lineup was hitting
for a little bit and it's been you've not been
able to be in. Sync, Hey i'm okay with doing.

(22:40):
That now there's The yankees who are fighting for their playoff.
Lives this is The dodgers who are fighting For World
Series championship. Lives because that's what this team is supposed
to be. Doing so there's different levels of when we
talk about, desperation but this is A dodger team that
should Be, hey maybe a couple of slight moves here
at the deadline to get us in the spot where
we're we're gonna comfortably roll through. Teams, instead they're fighting

(23:03):
for Their World series lies because they made these decisions
with starting pitching that REALLY i could have told you
from the. Beginning, boy that's a real. Risk it's a
real risk for these. Guys but still it's what they
wanted to.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Do i'm gonna give you a crazy number in a. Minute,
first another passing from, earlier no name that really jumps
off the board for, You but The dodgers did acquire
two pitchers and a catcher and a deal with The
rays and Reds Adam, siwanowski he's the guy THAT i
referenced earlier six to five. Left he two and ten

(23:35):
in the minor, leagues twenty one years, old big strikeout,
Rate so figuring you bring him, in he'll rise. Up
another a Former mets, prospect And Paul gervais who comes
in right handed, pitcher and Then Ben rotvel his.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Brother ricky was a hell of a lot. Better but,
yeah he's had problems in the last few.

Speaker 4 (23:53):
Years so if you win your little, award don't give a.
Speech come up, HERE i say, it, okay and then go. Blank,
anyway all of that to, say here's one for The.
Dodgers you're ready for this. One at this point they
have already used thirty seven thirty, seven thirty seven shut

(24:13):
up in a row in a, Row, yeah thirty seven
pitchers already this. Year according to The Guinness book Of World,
records the record in a season is forty.

Speaker 1 (24:27):
Two oh they're gonna blow past.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
That oh my. Goodness so they may they may roll
on right past that. One so we got that going
and we'll keep an eye on. That but you know
the other part is when we look at what their
lineup is. DONE i, Mean Will smith's the only guy
hitting three hundred as an everyday player in The National.
League Hayesan kim is at three h, four he's got

(24:52):
one hundred and forty six played, appearances And Freddie freeman
just under that, line he's at two ninety. Six hit
the first home run in a month for him earlier
in tonight tonight's. Game and then you Got paez who's been.
Fantastic we've extolled the virtues of him all. Year otani
at two seventy, two he's been, free swinging at the
plate a little. Bit that strikeout rate really starting to

(25:15):
kick up quite a. Bit Ta oscars at two fifty.
Four then you got months he at two fifty all
the way down To Mookie betts who's at two forty.
Three now moving him to this front of the. Lineup
perhaps maybe you, can you, know catch lightning in a,
bottle uh and he rediscovers his. Stroke but go back
to when he got sick In. Japan he's not been
right the last week or, so dealing with some family.

(25:36):
Stuff wish he and his family and friends and everybody.
Affected you, know some good some good, feelings good, vibes
and good. Memories but on the on the, field he's struggled,
mightily and that's part of the larger equation of. Things
as much as we look at the pitching, side and

(25:56):
then somewhere along, way as a, group they forgot how
to play. Defense we've seen some absolutely horrid fundamentals of
baseball Where Dave, roberts you've had more long. SILENCES i
don't want to say WHAT i THINK i want to. Say,
right you Had Clayton kershaw after a, START i think
it was two times out, ago and he came out
and he, goes, WELL i don't want to get in

(26:17):
trouble and just cut the interview. Short by the, way
he's got the third most starts of anybody in your.
ROTATION i don't think you had that on the bingo
card he drew up the twenty twenty five season for The.

Speaker 1 (26:30):
Dodgers exit out about A fresca Exit Swallen, Dome Jason,
Smith Mike harmon live from The Fox Sports radio. Studios so,
again more. Big if we get another baseball breaking, trade
we'll bring it to. You but this is something that.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
It's just too it's too on the nose for it
not to. Happen, Okay, now.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
Clearly the two big stories of training camp in THE
nfl are going to be The browns four headed quarterback
battle and Whatever Aaron rodgers does in with The. Steelers,
right that's gonna be the two things that that that
ride through every single. Day And i'll tell you, What
Kenny pickett's injury is going to put a little bit

(27:13):
of a little bit more of a wrench in. This
but this is going to. Happen, okay The browns and
their four, Quarterbacks Kenny, Pickett Joe, Flacco Shador, Sanders Dylan. Gabriel, right,
all what's happening. Here there's been some talk that all
by the middle of the camp they'll trade away one
of the quarterbacks and recoup a draft, pick you, know
because the reps aren't out. There, remember this is A

(27:35):
browns team that is tanking for next, year, Right they're
tanking for next. Year this is not a team that's
expected to do. Anything they're not going to get rid
of any of their. QUARTERBACKS i guarantee you this is gonna.
Happen here's my hot take for the. Season all four
of these guys are going to start at least one
game for The browns this year at some all four of.

Speaker 4 (27:57):
Them they will keep all four of.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Them they will find a on the active roster to
keep all four of these, quarterbacks they will find a.
Way they will all start a, game and they will
all be replaced because of, losses, injury, ineffectiveness you name,
it that's.

Speaker 4 (28:13):
What but they're gonna keep all four of these, guys.

Speaker 1 (28:15):
Right flacco will be the guy that starts the, season
most likely right with With pickett's injury hamstring, Injury they're
gonna want to be cautious and careful with, it So
flacco will likely. Start they'll lose a few, games they'll
go To Kenny pickett because they did the most to
go out and Get Kenny pickett in the. Offseason right
think they identified him. Early, okay he's gonna be our bridge.
Guy we think we can make it work With Kenny.

(28:36):
Pickett they go get. Him so then they'll go To Kenny,
pickett And Kenny pickett will Be Kenny pickett and doing
they're one and, seven one and.

Speaker 4 (28:42):
Eight it's gonna be all.

Speaker 1 (28:43):
Right, now we got to see the, rookies And Dylan
gabriel will start and after a few, games Then Chador
sanders will start the rest of the, season Probably Dylan
gabriel By halloween and Shaduor sanders by the beginning Of.
December but all four of these guys are gonna start
because The browns have. To you gotta see all these
guys right. Again you're, tanking you're looking for next. Year you're,
thinking if none of these guys, work it's Arch. Manning

(29:05):
but maybe one of these guys. Will are you really
not gonna play them? All did you really take two,
quarterbacks including the most polarizing guy the, Drafted Schaduro, sanders
to not play him at? All did you Take Dylan
gabriel in the third round to not play him in the?
Season that's gonna wind up being lost by the time
you get to week. Eight, no you'll start With, Flacco
you'll go To, picket then it'll Be, gabriel then it'll Be.

(29:26):
Sanders everybody wants These Shador sanders play at some point this,
year so you know he's going to.

Speaker 3 (29:30):
Play that's gonna.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
Happen but you gotta Play gabriel, too because you took
up ahead Of Shador. Sanders all four of these guys
are gonna Play. Mike they're all gonna start at least one.
GAME i don't know if they'll all be on the
roster at the end of the, year but all four of.

Speaker 4 (29:43):
Them will start at least one game for The browns this.
Season we get that choir of angels together when they
walk out that first, time singing hit it fantastic.

Speaker 5 (29:54):
Four oh they all.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
Come out with the jerseys and, yo yeah yeah, absolutely,
yeah oh yeah. Yeah Shador sanders is the human, torch,
right And Dylan gabriel is a visible girl because people
forget about him always.

Speaker 4 (30:08):
Invisible well you, know, yeah blue and silver suits to
really throw everybody. Off what the hell are they? Doing
these were not approved alternate? Uniforms are quarterbacks of this?
Team we are you've been marked for losing. Today it's
like they're wearing goalie pennies or jerseys in. Soccer here's

(30:29):
our ten and, well our goalies wearing some random, color,
uh to distinguish. Themselves we actually had a game not
too long ago from my daughter's squad where the opponent's
goalie was wearing a jersey that was looking pretty. Much it's,
like so if she goes and tries to fight on a,
say a corner kick coming in and gets, wrecked are

(30:49):
we gonna get in trouble for wrecking the goalie if
we can't tell who she IS i don't. Know we
eventually got the the ar to flag down the official
going this is a problem, here potential problem this. Girl but,
anyway all that to, SAY i still think It's. FLACCO
i had to picket and then you sort out the final.
Two you, know great holiday gift for everybody With Johnny,

(31:13):
Storms Shadeur sanders coming in And blaze of the. Trail but,
yeah it's it's, curious Right Jimmy haslam had that big
presser and had a lot to, say including just pointing
In Andrew berry's general direction about anything having to do
With Shadar, sanders WHICH i thought was really. Curious harbor's
great resentment over that To Shaun. Watson that's that's the.

(31:34):
Thing as much as that was sold as a collaborative
effort a couple of years, ago particularly By, barry it's
becoming exceedingly clear that he is standing on the plank
waiting for one little nudge to send him into the.
Waters but for The, browns it'll be interesting to watch
how this, UNFOLDS i Mean, flacco because you want to

(31:55):
sell hope at least for part Of, september and you
know what he, is and then you go to the
project For stefanski a little bit With Kenny, pickett and
you hope to catch lightning in the bottle and hit
that over of four and a half, wins and then
the rookies get to come out and play as things go. Awry,
yeah that's, good as you Fight New orleans for the
number one. Pick and then you've already had to address

(32:17):
the idea of whether Arch manning would finish his collegiate.
Career by the, way we don't know that he can
do anything other than run faster than his. Uncle's we
don't know anything else about his throwing. Acumen but by,
Reputation Fantastic. Fall here's your eighty dollars popcorns.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
Bucket they all come out together out of the tunnel,
together all four of, them walking Across Fantastic. Fall time

of sports And Martin wise and what do you got for,
us my, friend.

Speaker 7 (32:53):
Whole bunch of players hope that they were renting and not,
buying because guys are on the, move reportedly acquiring Au
Hennio suarez from The. Diamondbacks that trade would be pending medical.
Review in the game they lost to The a's five to,
four but won The is it fair to say the
jewel of the trade? DEADLINE i don't. KNOW i swear

(33:14):
