(00:53):
been missing one thing from tonight. One is one thing
from tonight, Just one thing, yeah, thing, one thing.
Speaker 3 (00:58):
I know. I want to get to that p road
story in the Yea and the.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
Pardon, But uh, we been missing a big hot take tonight,
Hot take, hot take tonight. So I got one and
it involves around everybody's number one pick Cooper Flag Cooper Cooper,
who played what could have been his final game at
Duke Tonight in front of the camera, crazies, twenty eight points,
eight board, seven assists, Duke beats weight ninety three to four. Right,
(01:26):
just seeing that way ninety three to sixty, they clinch
at least a share of the ACC regular season title,
and this could have been it for him, and the
crowd as they're wont to do, serenaded him and you
know the chance you were gonna hear because Duke doesn't
want to lose at me after just one yeas.
Speaker 3 (01:45):
Not too shabby.
Speaker 4 (01:47):
One more year. They're chanting the cavery crazies and everybody else,
and look at Kelly and Ralph. It's however, that's not
a good business decision.
Speaker 3 (02:04):
He's being on the call.
Speaker 1 (02:06):
Uh He he comes out of the game, John Shire
hugs him with a high five. You heard all the
chance of one more year going on?
Speaker 3 (02:13):
Now?
Speaker 1 (02:13):
First, I gotta say this, am I the If I'm
the only guy for this, that's fine. This is not
the hot take that every time I hear Cooper Flagg's name,
I think of the stand by Stephen King because the
bad guy was Randall Flagg. Oh too, geez, Like every
time I hear Cooper Flagg's name, I think of the
stand See I go Rick Flagg, and I start thinking
of the suicide squad. Oh okay, all right, all right,
(02:35):
Rick Fleggler, the guy who had to deal with the enchantress,
you know.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
The worst.
Speaker 1 (02:39):
Yeah, okay, yeah, I don't don't think about that much.
I think more about the stands. Like this is Cooper
Randall kind of very similar. Flag is the way his
flag was a big villain. Yeah, okay, flag. They're gonna
have a big kind of showdown in Colorado, like in
the sorry spoiler for the Stands. I'll have to go back,
and I am so obviously he's going to be the
number one overall pick in the draft. Every twenty years
(03:02):
or so, it seems like we get I guess what,
I'm gonna come back for one more year. Cooper Flagg
talked about it after the game, said he's just taken a.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
Day by day in the.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Moment, ready to go season Godspell. When they boot when
the girl did day by day and wet hot American summer,
they'll boot her at the end.
Speaker 3 (03:27):
Day by day, boot the craft batter, leaving no theatrical
stone undurned.
Speaker 1 (03:34):
Here one of the funny culturehere one of the funniest movies,
The Last Time One Summer. Uh, look, he's everybody's number
one pick, and and he should be and he what
But I'm telling you, if I'm Cooper Flag, i stay
in school because not because he's not ready. And you
always say, when the NBA calls for you, go, he'll
(03:55):
be ready next year and be ready year after you
get to the NBA.
Speaker 3 (03:59):
You're so young. Now you look at the teams that
are gonna be in the lottery, and these teams are.
Speaker 1 (04:04):
Terrible, right, not that not that it's always oh coach Jason,
of course, all bad teams and the lottery, But there's
no teams that, hey, generally they have a pretty good
program that's being run and they're just having a bad
year this year.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
But he could become a bull.
Speaker 1 (04:17):
You look at the you look at these teams, well,
you're still the playing around buddy, They're still the player.
But but but a lot of times you get teams
in the lottery because there's injuries, they're just having a
bad year. But these teams that are more than likely
gonna get these top picks are year in and year out,
absolutely awful. Whether it's Washington or Utah, and you know
(04:41):
New Orleans can't win more than seventeen games with Zion,
Right Like, like these teams, yes, san Antonio is getting in,
but you want to go play there with you You're
not gonna see the basketball you got Wemby there. You
know it's gonna come back from next year cast I mean,
you're not gonna.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
See the ball.
Speaker 1 (04:57):
Like, there's not a lot of great choices where I
can come out and say, yes, I'm gonna be excited
to go there and spend the first four years of
my career. Right Like the team that maybe would make
the most sense, you would say it would be Philadelphia,
but you're coming in and who knows what Philadelphia is
gonna be. They're gonna they're gonna still have Joel Embiid
or not. Are they still gonna have Paul George or not?
What are they doing? Like, there's no teams where I
(05:19):
could say, hey, guess what like a team like if
you want to say that Dallas gonna have a tough
time holding on now because they lost Kyrie Irving. But
there's gonna be a lot of team There's not gonna
be as many teams where I could say, oh, this
is gonna be a really good landing spot for me.
I can land here like wehmby it number one for
the Spurs. Hey, that works, right, You saw it work
with Tim Duncan. Great spot for him. Greg Popovich, you know,
(05:43):
won multiple championships, knows how to coach a big like that.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
You're in a great situation with a great coach.
Speaker 1 (05:48):
It's just been san Antonio had had a couple of
few bad years. But I don't see a lot of
great landing spots where I go. Cooper Flag can go there. Boy,
what a huge superstar.
Speaker 3 (05:57):
He's gonna wind up being like he's in a great
situation where he can raise his team. Because go back
to Zion, right, Zion just went to Duke for one
year because he had to.
Speaker 1 (06:05):
Right, he was done. I'm going I'm going right the
Pelicans get him. Look where he is. The guy can't
he can't get relevant because he can't stay on the court.
But he also can't lead the Pelicans to anything. And
everybody wanted to embrace him. Basketball fans wanted to embrace Zion.
We wanted to be the next Shaquille O'Neil. And now
the guy's not even on NBA TV anymore. Right, the
(06:27):
Pelicans are no good. He's injured all the time, and
how are you gonna do that? I mean, re sign
with them for the max because no other the team
was gonna give it to you, Like, just go back
and say, hey, you really want the fit. And this
is where I pay attention to when Dion Sanders says
my son doesn't need to go number one. Schador doesn't
need to go number one. He doesn't care. That's gonna
(06:47):
be irrelevant. It's great to be the number one overall pick,
but I want the right fit for him. And that's
one of the best things that Deon Sanders has said
publicly where you can get behind him, go yeah, I
get it. There's so much talk about wanting to be
the number one picking, Abdul Carter saying I want to
be the number one pick, and Travis Hunter, I want
to be the number one pick.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
Okay, I get that.
Speaker 1 (07:05):
But you want to go to Tennessee, like you really
think Tennessee is going to be really good in a
couple of years or do you think a team like
the Giants who will eventually get their act together is
a better fit. And that way Okay, well you're going
third overall there, right, Like, where's the best landing spot
where you can say that's where I'm going to have
the best career. And that's a huge thing for Dion
to say that. I thought Dion for would say right away,
(07:27):
my kids goes number one, he's the best player in
the country all the maybe my other son Travis Hunter
goes number one. But when he said that, it's about fit.
He wants him to have a great career. And Cooper
Flagg's got to realize, Okay, these teams here, man, I
don't know, Man, I don't see any diamonds in the
rough that I can say are going to have the
likelihood of the ping pong balls going their way where
(07:48):
I'm going to go there and have a really great
start to my career.
Speaker 3 (07:50):
Yeah, that's true. That's true.
Speaker 1 (07:52):
And generally speaking, you know, when we look at the
the ping pong balls and teams that are down there,
it's it's unfortunately not the one off like those are
rare normally. It's an institutional problem with all of these squads.
And even as we talk about the undoing and final
death knell of the process as it were, all these
(08:15):
other squads. Maybe they took shots like Brooklyn and it
didn't work Toronto. They now have brandon Ingram, you know,
the cast off guy out of the fails in New Orleans.
But you know Cooper Flagg. If you look at what
Reese s got this last year was fifty seven million, right,
you stay in nil money. Whatever it is, eight ten,
(08:38):
whatever the dookies can get together, and whatever other brand
deals he can put in place. Yeah, you can get
a bunch of that money. It's hard to say you
don't go when it comes to you know, Travis Hunter say,
Travis Hunter said, I want to go number one.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
It has value.
Speaker 1 (08:54):
Like the only reason that the number one really matters
after first walking on the stage is when you fail.
That's the only time we talk about you as the
number one overall pick. You're either on a Hall of
Fame career and you knew it coming out because he
was a number one pick, or he sucked. So he
goes into the long list of guys that were put
(09:14):
up to on the pedestal and.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
It didn't work.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Like there's no in between there, like the number one
pick that goes out the window. Now the bank account
is still swollen from what you got in that initial stage.
So Cooper Flag even joking about it, I'd be curious
to hear all the nil Collective or whatever we're calling
them now, in those agreements of how much can we
get together and we can call that guy again. I mean,
(09:39):
I know he gave last year to get him here.
He'll double up right to get him to stay.
Speaker 3 (09:45):
That's it. I mean, how big can you make that pile?
Speaker 1 (09:47):
But yeah, for me, even if it's in the worst
case scenario, sometimes you got to ride out the bumps.
I mean, look at where Kate Gunningham is now as
people start seventeen years Well, people don't know Ca Actually
am okay, you took my punchline. But now I don't
like you. I said I like you a few minutes ago.
Now I don't like you took my punchline. Okay, sorry,
Well because that had to get the number thirty seven,
(10:10):
which is so made them a sandwich.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
Oh will, But look you got that we had tomorrow.
And I get that.
Speaker 1 (10:15):
It's a lottery, right, it's a lottery, and you're you're
always going to take a chance. But when you see
the teams we're talking about here, the phoenix is the
teams outside the top ten right now, right in New
Orleans and Utah and Portland and Phoenix and Washington and
Charlotte and Toronto and Brooklyn. Like, you have to make
your decision by the end of April, right that's when
(10:35):
I think it's the twenty seventh is the day that
they have to make the decision by.
Speaker 3 (10:39):
On the draft draft. Yeah, and the draft lottery is
the middle of May.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
So it's not like you're making this decision knowing Okay,
I know who's picking number one, and I'm gonna go there.
You have to make that decision based on the fact that, hey,
I feel comfortable that I'm going to wind up in
a place as comfortable as I can because it is
a lottery. If it was coming to Ken, then I'm
going to go someplace good, whereas I Again, you look
at this this.
Speaker 3 (11:02):
Crop of teams, and you go, who what What team
shows you that, hey, we had everything right, We got
the right ownership, we have the right GM, we have
the right head coach. We just need the right place.
I've got a surprise for you.
Speaker 1 (11:12):
Who's showing you that Oklahoma City has nine hundred picks?
Speaker 3 (11:16):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:16):
Yeah, It's like when people were stuck piling toilet paper
during the pandemic. Yeah, they've got draft picks for days. Here,
you can change.
Speaker 3 (11:23):
Out your entire thing. That's how many drafts would do.
Speaker 1 (11:28):
You If I'm I call Oklahoma City on that and
I go, okay, we got to make we got to
somehow agree to this, whether it's a handshake deal or
not before Cooper flag makes his decision. Because if he decides, no,
you're not going to give that to me. You're not
gonna give me that, So I forget it, not gonna
do it. Here's all of these draft picks, and you
can hang out with Lou Dort.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
Here's a handshake.
Speaker 1 (11:49):
Here's a handshake deal. But but if he's not number
we still get the picks. Even if he says he's
going back to school, so he has time, right, Because
when you're nineteen years old, okay, it's it's not it's
not a quarterback or a running back who's twenty four
and needs to get to the NFL because he needs
another contract. Right you're talking about Okay, you're still gonna
get your second contract when you're when you're twenty four,
you're gonna get your second contract when you're twenty four
(12:11):
years old.
Speaker 3 (12:12):
It's okay, do I see.
Speaker 1 (12:13):
These teams in here that are going to that I'm
confident are gonna have is gonna be a great landing
spot for me.
Speaker 3 (12:21):
And there's two and there's too many squads where I go.
I mean, really, Charlotte, watch it. You want to go
the next stop? Where are you gonna go? Where are
you gonna go? I I'm telling you.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
If I'm Cooper Flag, I say, mmm, barring something crazy happening.
And this is good teams falling out of the seven
to ten and in there like if teams like out
of Golden State's winning too many games, they're not gonna win.
But if a team like if like Dallas fluss slid out,
(12:52):
or Orlando slid out, Miami slides out for some reason, Hey, okay,
I kind of like that.
Speaker 3 (12:59):
Miami would be great. I go to Miami.
Speaker 1 (13:00):
It's it's pat Riley and Eric Spolstra. I can I
can go to Orlando. Orlando's got a really great thing
going on here. They got Palo Bancaro.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
I could go there. So unless you see that, I
go back to Do. I go back to Do.
Speaker 1 (13:12):
I would say Dallas is the team to watch right
with this guy Rey Irving news. Uh, and people are
getting sent held once again. It's back because they put
the Dallas injured players and added Nico.
Speaker 3 (13:24):
Yeah, you gotta say for sure. Yeah, so you got
that going.
Speaker 1 (13:28):
But at this point, if Kyrie Irving's to miss any
substantive time, they've done it before. We talked about it
last hour, like they they've decided to say, all right,
we punt, well we'll move out of this and go
from there. So it wouldn't be so shocked to see
that happen again. New ownership and whatever. Suddenly, Hey, Nico
(13:50):
Harrison can be the champion.
Speaker 3 (13:51):
I delivered your new hero.
Speaker 2 (13:54):
Look what I.
Speaker 3 (13:55):
Didins you ready? Yeah? Go ahead?
Speaker 5 (13:57):
Rosberg without looking who was the first pick in last
year his NBA draft?
Speaker 3 (14:01):
Yeah, and he's he's played pretty well. What do you mean? Yeah,
what's your answer? Yeah, Well we knew the frenchman it was.
It was Bob.
Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yeah, went number one overall, Bobby Yeah. No, Andrie has
been good. Steph Castle has been good. Right, he was
a guy I was gonna take number one overall and
he's been terrific. So yeah, I mean you need to Bob, Yeah, Uh,
you need to put yourself in this.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
Yeah, Bob, Yeah, you know Bob.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
Yeah, Bobby has great That's like Bob blah blah from
Arrested Development. We don't have time for nonsense with Bob
blah blah. Bob blah blah, Lobb's law bomb. Hey Bob
blah blah was writing in his love block. Uh So again,
there's there's your hot take. Cooper flag staying at Duke
uh exit out bout a Fresco exit swollen down. The
Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Life from the tire
Act dot Com Studios coming up next. Yes, we'll get
(14:44):
to that really bad timing story out of the NBA.
Speaker 4 (14:48):

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Really bad timing, really really bad timing, uh, you know speaking,
It's kind of like this bad timing star. I'll get
to in a second. Uh, I may have to go
against something that I've been guaranteeing for the last three weeks.
Okay three weeks ago. Yeah, what did I tell you?
(16:46):
I'm taking Saint John's to win the NCAA tournament. No
matter what, You're not getting me off Saint John's. You
wrote it on a piece of a note note card
like you were.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
Kevin cost is one of.
Speaker 1 (16:57):
The ten Trap John's no matter matter what, or the
go blank yourself that Ben Affleck gives to John Hammon
in the town or like uh, Cody Road said, but
Saint John's. Look, Rick Patino is gaining so much attention.
He's got the biggiest player of the year in r J.
Lewis and Kidari Richmond. Look, they have two guards that
are terrific. Yeah, uh, TV shows right, Saint John, Saint John,
(17:20):
Saint John's, and I've told you about them. But now
the last three weeks they've gotten too trendy. So I
feel like I gotta pick somebody else. Yeah, jump, because
Saint John's is too trendy. Now you got to come
to the dark side with me. Who am I taking? U?
Speaker 3 (17:32):
C l A No I wouldn't. No, I'm not riding
that lightning.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
But with a run of recent wins, hard fought wins,
gritty team, veteran team, veteran coach, and a guy who's
okay with dressing like Kiss for Midnight Madness, I'm back
on I'm back on Marches for Rizzo.
Speaker 3 (17:51):
You're much frizzle. Yeah, maybe, I mean, maybe it's my
big ten sentimentality coming through.
Speaker 1 (17:56):
I would say my vote is out there for sale
right now because I'm really it's just too trendy and
I can't be.
Speaker 3 (18:01):
I can't do that. You're trying to get boxes sent
I can't here.
Speaker 1 (18:04):
I can't do it. It's too trendy. I you know,
in the end, no matter what, they're always going to
be my team because I say, listen, I'm taking the
can we get you in for a show later in
this I'm not gonna wear a suit, a white T
shirt and shorts. Maybe if you like, I mean, i'd
even let you go. Don Johnson, look, you don't send
them put on the shirt and.
Speaker 3 (18:22):
Top to stubble and everything.
Speaker 1 (18:24):
Who this week, I'll tell you the list of Miami
vice villains is.
Speaker 3 (18:35):
That's a great list. At Phil Collins.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
That's like, that's like everybody who was at the Oscars
last night they did with all the if you were
on Law and Order, sure I was good.
Speaker 4 (18:44):
I uh.
Speaker 1 (18:45):
I mean it's they're too trendy. They're they're just doing
and I don't. I'm not gonna be that. Oh but
everywhere you look, now, hey, here's the latest AP list
and Saint John's is up to number six, Like, why
is Saint John's being single? I mean, maybe maybe I
did it. Maybe I brought them to the national conversation
by saying I'm taking them no matter what. Rick Patino's
the NCAA Coach of the Year first, doesn't matter anybody else,
(19:05):
He's the coach of the year in the NCAAA. Maybe
we did that, So congratulations, Rick, we did you that favorite.
Speaker 3 (19:11):
We do a lot of big things.
Speaker 1 (19:12):
Here on the show, there's no question about it. And
betting markets are certainly catching up.
Speaker 3 (19:15):
But maybe I'm like Pauli in Goodfellows. Here's the money.
Speaker 1 (19:18):
Now I gotta walk away from you, Like, hey, Rick,
I got you all this notoriety here, probably got you
to a number one seed. As long as you win
the biggiest tournament. Now, I gotta walk away from us.
Speaker 3 (19:27):
You two bucks for a lifetime, for a lifetime. Now
you know you're too trendy. I just can't do it.
Speaker 1 (19:31):
I gotta go to somebody else that's not I gotta
find some other team that's not trendy, that can really
have a big run that nobody is talking about, like
Texas Tech round. Texas Tech is really good. They beat
a lot of good teams. No one's talking about them.
So maybe I gotta jump to Texas Tech. All right,
So here we go current odds, Auburn, your leader in
the clubhouse, followed directly by Duke.
Speaker 4 (19:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (19:51):
Then you get to Houston, followed by Florida, Tennessee, Alabama, Nah,
Iowa State. And this is where the team's collide.
Speaker 3 (20:01):
St.
Speaker 1 (20:01):
John's and Michigan State. That twenty five to one, Texas
Tech at thirty to one. Oh they're only thirty to one. Okay, Yeah,
that's that's not that pivot is not great. And then
you get to Arizona. How about A and M. You
want A and M going in?
Speaker 3 (20:15):
And I kind of no, no, Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Of all those teams, I would take Iowa State just
because I could think of I think of Fred Hoiberg.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
There you go, and then they're twenty to one.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Yeah, okay, all right, but I mean it's Saint John's.
I think I've gotten so much attention the last few
we should have bat them a couple of weeks.
Speaker 3 (20:32):
I should have.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
I told you to drive across State lone. What were
they three ways? There were one hundred something to one.
That's I've taken note. I'm taking Saint John's got you
got on board before the TV show premiered, before they
went on that run.
Speaker 3 (20:42):
What was that game that was on in our window?
Speaker 1 (20:45):
Un Yeah, when we watched Hurley lose his mind crazy
at the end of the game.
Speaker 3 (20:51):
Yeah, all you did.
Speaker 5 (20:52):
What you're saying John's pick is lead the masses to
major disappointment.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
I haven't. There's no disappointment very much.
Speaker 5 (20:59):
Exactly.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
What's They won the Big East for the first time
in forty years this weekend, forty back since Chris.
Speaker 3 (21:03):
Mullen was actually playing so much.
Speaker 5 (21:05):
You're gonna cost people with that Saint John's pick three
weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
You know what I should have done.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
I should have put the money onto three weeks ago,
held onto my ticket and then when Saint John's in
the final four. Then I called Vegas and I go, hey,
you want to buy bet swat, buy me out, buy
me out?
Speaker 3 (21:19):
Yeah, one savvy guy.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
Had Milligan's not listening to the show. You could have
walked in with Pa Tina's white suit into the casino.
Speaker 1 (21:26):
That would have been great. Hey, I get the suit.
Maybe that's it. I'll pick Saint John's. If Patino guarantees
getting me the suit. Yeah, yeah, you'd have it up
in your hallway like that AJ Brown mannequin.
Speaker 3 (21:40):
Yeah, oh yeah, one hundred percent. Yeah, I would buy it.
Looks like it's Saturday night fever, but that's okay.
Speaker 1 (21:44):
I would buy a mannequin that I could change out. Okay,
today you're a J. Brown, Tomorrow you're Rick Patino in
the suit.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Yeah. Now is this the shrinking mannequins?
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Since you know the PhD weight loss, I mean sizes.
I know the manage you got because you got a
you got a good tailor in here.
Speaker 3 (22:00):
Yeah, and the mannequins. Man, But I mean you got
to take in the suit to match you. Oh that's true.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
Yeah, but you said you're bringing me a Don Johnson suit.
Right to Don Johnson. One, I want to ask him
about the current series that he's on. How doctor otis Okay?
Two questions entertaining how much you want to bet that
he has all those doubts that he wears. He wears
them on the weekends, right like when he's out doing something.
(22:24):
We last smoking cigarettes, he wears it there flipping the
cigarettes out, the white pants and everything.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Oh yeah, yeah sure.
Speaker 1 (22:32):
The other thing is I don't know anything about this show,
but it looks insane, Like is this like Doctor ottisy
the commercials I see I go? Is this like the
apocalypses happen? It's a and it's a forever boat that
doesn't doe. I mean it gets a variation of the
love boat. So but it's not celebrities coming on, but
here's new.
Speaker 3 (22:50):
People getting on.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
But it's like like people die, right and then crazy,
crazy crap happens. It's over the top. It would be
better if it was like an apocalypse and than the
boat never does. I mean, because they look during the oscars,
I mean it was all about the sharks. Doctor Oh yeah,
well then yeah, oh yeah yeah, the of course we're
for that in the bean Ato coming up for one yeah, beam,
I'm like, wow, we're out of ideas.
Speaker 3 (23:11):
We're really out of idea.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
No, I mean maybe for Ante he took a leap
based on his interactions. How can a ship in the
in the deep ocean deep enough where you're going? How
can it not get out of where sharks are? You
just keep going? Seems it you.
Speaker 3 (23:26):
Just keep going? How do the sharks keep you with?
Speaker 1 (23:28):
The sharks have unless these are sharks with freaking laser
beams attached to their.
Speaker 3 (23:32):
Heads, how do you how do you keep sing the hole?
That doesn't make it? Sparks have threatened to shoot the hole.
We need to give him another one from the Lado debt?
How are we communicating with the sharks? Curious?
Speaker 1 (23:46):
George is their translator? Hey George, I'm Don Johnson. My
career has been ruined by the fact they can't pick
the good script after the Knives Out movie?
Speaker 3 (23:55):
What do they want? Can? Can we move on here?
What are they gonna do? All right? Thanks George?
Speaker 1 (24:03):
Now that other dudes in it too, Joshua Jackson's in there.
Oh well him, I get like it's been a long
time since Dawson's Creek.
Speaker 3 (24:09):
That's been a lot. He's the man in the yellow hat.
Speaker 1 (24:17):
Every they're threatening to throw Hunley's corpse out of the ship.
The sharks are threatening to kill shut him man, shout May,
shut him, Hey, shallow Man. Although like the dog did
make it in the meg is true, right the document
Rain Wilson didn't make it, but the dog man. Yeah,
the dog Man. Okay, that's hey the dog Sorry.
Speaker 3 (24:37):
Y see. I want to live long enough to where
Shallow May is doing episodic television. Shouta May, shout him.
Speaker 4 (24:42):
Hey, Uh.
Speaker 3 (24:43):
I worries like in his seventies or eighties, like I
gotta hang around a.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
While Shallow May in the latest Matt lockerboots. Yeah exactly,
except its just called shadow May. Shallow May shot him,
shot him May?
Speaker 3 (24:58):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (24:59):
Come on, he's a Knicks for autographs speaking Nick. You
see Jalen Brunson's tweet He's upset they're on the road next. Yeah,
I know, crying about the schedule. Yeah, well, well, because
it's CM Punk and Seth Rollins in the cage.
Speaker 3 (25:13):
Get keep saying he might he might take a day off.
We'll get to management for the cage.
Speaker 2 (25:20):
What is it?
Speaker 3 (25:21):
I I really want to see the cage match, so
I'm taking the game off. I'm going to wrestle Mania
on Netflix. He'll do one of those.
Speaker 1 (25:26):
Steve Carl get thrown out in the first five minutes.
It's not going our way tonight, just gonna go that's
all good. We'll get to that big NBA story of
the worst timing in the world coming up in ninety seconds.
But first, a man has been called the Timothy Shallome
of Fox Sports Jolio because he likes to wear big,
bright yellow suits to work. It's Steve de Sager.
Speaker 3 (25:47):
I do speak more clearly than he did at that show.
It's his man with the yellow hat outfit.
Speaker 6 (25:51):
By the way, if that Odyssey show is like the
Love Boat, does that mean there will be an instant
appearance by the Landers?
Speaker 3 (25:57):
Since oh, I don't want to make sure people think,
oh I didn't know Odyssey. No, it's not a U
D A C. Why the radio company. No, it's D
Y S S C Y.
Speaker 2 (26:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (26:06):
It's also not like big stars showing up next week's episode, Charro.
Speaker 1 (26:12):
Has Melanie Griffith been on Bert Convey, Burt Convey no
longer with us?
Speaker 3 (26:16):
Bert Convey title tales.
Speaker 6 (26:17):
Burt conveys next week, Marion Ross and Florence Anderson.
Speaker 3 (26:23):
Neither of them are with us. Come on Steve, you
got to come on. It's on the show. I'm watching.
Speaker 1 (26:28):
You gotta say like Jamie Farr is gonna be odd
no longer the guy on the show bringing up dead people.
Here's Steve to say. Connie Stevens, Connie Stephen, Okay, very good,
Connie step you much.
Speaker 3 (26:39):
You know I heard it? Okay. Now I can't say it.
I can't say it. I can't say so we'll go
on to the NBA where tonight I don't clahoe story.
I just can't say it involving Connie's you can't wait
to hear it. I just can't say.
Speaker 4 (26:52):
No.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
It's a great start, and you would say WHOA, but
I can't tell.
Speaker 6 (26:55):
It's late at night. It is stopped realizing that we're
actually on the air. Shake Gill, just Alexander with fifty
one points in OKC, they've eat Houston one thirty seven,
one twenty eight. Oklahoma City is fifty at eleven. This year,
Atlanta won one thirty two to one thirty at Memphis
on a fast break layup at the Buzzer. John Morant
was out again tonight with a bad shoulder, so Desmond Bane,
(27:16):
who had a triple double in a tie game in
the final seconds, had the ball in his hands and
turned it over, which led to the loss. Jaron Jackson
at the Grizzlies left early with an ankle injury. Portland
won one nineteen one oh two at Philadelphia. Andre Drummond
of Philly did have twenty five points eighteen rebounds. Paul
George was out with a sore growing and Tyrese Maxie
at Philadelphia two of thirteen shooting, and he left after
(27:38):
a fall. Golden State won at Charlotte. Hornets have lost
seven straight. It was Sacramento winning easily at Dallas for
the MAVs. Kyrie Irving left early with what's called a
knees sprain. Detroit has won ten of its last eleven.
After an easy victory at Utah, Kid Cunningham twenty nine
points Utah with twenty seven turnovers. Luka Donsich of the
Lakers questionable for tomorrow with a brew knee. Cleveland's Evan
(28:01):
Mobley out Tuesday due to rest. The Knicks Carl Anthony
Towns listed as questionable for Tuesday for personal reasons, and
Kyle Kuzman, now with Milwaukee, doubtful for tomorrow with an
ankle injury in college hoops final week in the men's
regular season. Number two ranked Duke eighteen and one in
the ACC after beating Wake Forest ninety three to sixty.
(28:21):
Cooper flag twenty eight point seven assists just one turnover.
Third ranked Houston beat Kansas sixty five fifty nine. Kansas
ten and nine in conference. Jayhawks committed twenty turnovers. Tonight,
UCLA won at Northwestern on FS one, holding on seventy
three sixty nine. By the way, the first conference tournament
title game is this Saturday nights in the Ohio Valley.
(28:43):
There are four conference title games this Sunday, including in
the Missouri Valley. Auburn and Duke are still listed as
one two in the new college basketball polls. Florida dropped
to number five today and the ACC reportedly as the
settlements in lawsuits by Clemson and Florida State, the schools
wanted a bigger percentage of revenues among the six NHL games.
Speaker 1 (29:03):
So that means the ACC is going to be around
until twenty twenty seven at least.
Speaker 3 (29:07):
Okay, we know, okay, great delay.
Speaker 6 (29:09):
It will apparently allow people to get out of the
ACC earlier. Oh okay, then what was it twenty thirty
eight or whatever they so eight. My conference is good
for the couple of years, is what you're telling me. Okay,
you've got Stanford and col What more do you need?
Speaker 3 (29:24):
You're on the Atlantic coast.
Speaker 6 (29:26):
Chicago Blackhawks beat LA five to one. Shootout wins for
Washington and San Jose, Florida edge Tampa Bay two to one.
The Panthers Matthew Kachuk is out for the regular season
with a groin injury. The Philadelphia Eagles will cut former
Pro Bowl defensive back Darius Slay. The Bengals franchise tag
wide receiver t Higgins again this year. And by the way,
it is Tuesday afternoon, the league's franchise tag window will end.
(29:50):
As for training camp for the UFL, the spring league,
it opened today. That league has eight teams to stock.
Former coach Jimmy Johnson retired from Fox TV. Yankees pitcher
Luis Hill, rookie of the Year in the American League
last season, is being shut down for at least six
weeks with a lad strain. Catherine Legg will be driving
in Sunday's NASCAR race at Phoenix on Fox TV. She
(30:11):
has competed in nineteen career. IndyCar races first woman in
a Cup Series event since dani Ka Patrick. And final note, guys,
we've got baseball qualifying games going on to see who
the final teams are for next year's World Baseball Classics.
So today in Tucson, it was Germany bringing on Jaden
Agassy as their first reliever. Wow with his parents in
(30:33):
the stands. He goes to usc and Andre Agassi was
there as well, and he couldn't get out of the
fourth inning. Allowed four runs in the fourth was the
losing pitcher. They lost to Brazil nine to seven, and
he gave up a single to the son of Manny Ramirez.
Speaker 1 (30:50):
Why are you going to say he gave him a
single to Jimmy Sampress. Surprisingly enough, I can't get away.
Speaker 6 (30:57):
From you, somebody, Sanchez Carrio, it's coming up to bet
No it was. I don't know how Manny Ramier's kid
is playing for Brazil. But Brazil won nine to seven
and Columbia two and zero beat up China eight to one.
Speaker 1 (31:11):
This is a very early playing round for the uh
for the World Baseball They get ahead of.
Speaker 3 (31:15):
The game, gets in.
Speaker 5 (31:18):
Sazaki debut.
Speaker 3 (31:19):
Eve to you tomorrow nights. Oh there you go to
a day game. I had a Codexanka do today. Eight innings,
no hits, right, that's what he did for the Mets.
Two innings, shut out, Thank you, Max Frings. Max Reed
gave up a couple of runs, completely not worth it
for the Yankees.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
To scoreless innings, and then gave up a couple of runs.
That's the reliever behind him gave up to they're.
Speaker 1 (31:39):
Not scoreless run. You can't say scoreless runs. But then
he gave up runs. That's not scoreless.
Speaker 3 (31:44):
No, I said he pitched two scoreless innings and then
gave up two. That is accurate. I just I just
thought of them all.
Speaker 1 (31:51):
In the Family episode where Archie was arguing with with
with Meathead that Harvey Haddocks, Remember Harvey Haddicks had the
sixteen inning, No, but then but then he lost the game,
perfect game, then seventeen into the twelfth, and they kept
arguing that Haddicks had a perfect game, and and Rob
Reiner was saying, no, we didn't.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
He gave up a home and they lost it.
Speaker 4 (32:10):
It.
Speaker 3 (32:11):
No, he had it. And he goes here, I'll prove
it to you.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
And he finds the newspaper and it says here right here,
or he finds somewhere he says here, it says Harvey
Haddicks lost his perfect game in the twelfth inning, and
he goes, will.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
Easily meet had He had to have a perfect game
if he lost it. That was how Archie won the argument.
Seventies TV. Were the Lander sisters on that episode? No, no, no, no,
no no. I think they were on Alice Charles Steve
tell him you can't keep saying the same people, Steve,
you gotta give me new people.
Speaker 6 (32:42):
I just remember that one of the Lander sisters married
Dodger reliever Tom Needonfeer, who gave up that Ozzie Smith
homer in the playoff?
Speaker 3 (32:49):
Was it Audrey Landers or Judy Land? Can you tell
them apart?
Speaker 2 (32:52):
Uh?
Speaker 1 (32:53):
Yeah, Judy Landers was the one. No, Judy Landers was
the one in chorus line, So yes, Judy Landers. I
like Judy Landers.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
We like to las to. What about Ordre Linley? Okay?
Than completely did Wow?
Speaker 1 (33:08):
We have that big double shot NBA story and one
new development, a big NFL story coming up next right here,
Jason to Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (33:17):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific.
Speaker 1 (33:28):
Time, Fox Sports Radio, Jason, my best friend Mike harmon GIDEO.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
We're gonna be give the shows again with the same topic.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
I want to make room for that, so.
Speaker 3 (33:42):
Let's start here.
Speaker 1 (33:45):
We find out that Sam Darnold likely is not getting
the franchise tag. The decision is due tomorrow afternoon, and
according to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Vikings want to
keep him, but they're not going to franchise tag and
they're hoping to sign him to keep him. Let me
just ask you this, what would you do if you
were Sam don till about the chance of Vikings have
a keeping him.
Speaker 3 (34:05):
Either you re sign with a team that loves you
but wants to replace you, and you're only gonna play
until they feel they really want to play. JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 1 (34:13):
Or I'll go to another team that's gonna pay me
at least that kind of money and they're gonna make
me the starter right away, I know, Or what I
do if I'm Sam darn Why the hell would I
go back to Minnesota?
Speaker 3 (34:25):
You know, they're just gonna at some point find a
way to sit in you and put.
Speaker 1 (34:28):
JJ McCarthy in instead where at least I go someplace
else and I know for a year I'm the starting quarterback. Yeah,
he's not gonna go back.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (34:36):
The one big question is, you know, a couple of
the teams that are in there that we're looking at
veterans reportedly are short term situation. When we look at
the Raiders hiring Pete Carroll, or you go to the
Giants where Davel and Shane might be on their last
leg so they at least need to get back to
respectability to where they might be wooed by someone like
(34:56):
an Aaron rodger Wood or a Russell Wills suing.
Speaker 3 (35:01):
Versus. All right, are we looking to build not only
short term but a long term plan?
Speaker 1 (35:06):
And that's where Sam Darnold comes in, because as we know,
he's only twenty seven, so good luck keeping him with that.
I mean, he's gone gone, gone, rare occasional where a
guy would say, franchise me, pay me the average of
the five, I'll tay, I'll take that. I'll take that
forty million dollars elsewhere. We talked about this in the
NBA earlier tonight. Bad news for the Mavericks. Kyrie Irving
(35:29):
gets hurt knee sprain. Jason Kidd after the game said, hey,
we're unlucky. We're waiting to see how serious it is.
This could absolutely crush the Mavericks even getting into the
playoffs at this point. No Ad, no Kyrie Irving, and
they have no link future, No Luca, no Lively, no
Gaffern Yeah, no Roger, no Rerun, no Rent Okay, Luca,
(35:53):
Yeah did you mention lu Did you mention Luca?
Speaker 4 (35:56):
No?
Speaker 3 (35:57):
Luca.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
So that's a bad break for them. But boy in
the under the category of worst timing ever. I keep
thinking about the episode of The Simpsons where Chief Wiggam
was trying to convince people he was by the book
and someone and and uh uh, Mayor Quimby walked up
to him and said, oh, by the way, here's your
kickback and says, you couldn't have come at a worst time.
You couldn't have come at a worse times. As Mavericks
(36:22):
fans are continuing to foam at the mouth over hol
ups that they are over the Luca dontage trade, today
it gets out that the Mavericks are raising ticket prices
for next year. The interest level the team is at
an all time low because fans are pissed, and yet yeah, boy,
this is bad timing.
Speaker 3 (36:38):
We kind of have to let people know we're gonna
raise season ticket prices for next season. Well that's the worst.
But I mean, look, if they're already mad at you,
what do they get a little more mad?
Speaker 5 (36:51):
I mean, how else are they supposed to pay for
ads insurance policies?
Speaker 3 (36:54):
I mean, how else are they? Okay, I really wasn't
thinking about getting tickets now I'm really not gonna get
to get Oh I'm not gonna do it.
Speaker 1 (37:02):
Look doing a quick review as we were thinking of
talking about the MAVs and this fun. I mean, they
do sell out right, They're getting their twenty thousand a
game for Yeah, good luck and good luck with that
next year. Yeah, but Dallas is good luck enough. If
you got enough love that need.
Speaker 3 (37:17):
To impress clients and whatever that you're still gonna take
that show.
Speaker 1 (37:20):
A d is gonna be outside Mavericks headquarters ringing the
bell like this like a salvation army. We need money,
Come on you guys, ding ding ding ding ding ding
you money. This is the worst timing ever. I want
to hear a duh virtual a d doing loo Look
(37:40):
and let me tell the Mavericks because they obviously need
my pr advice. You're gonna lose the pr battle for
a while. Don't let slip any more stories about Luca
and hookah and drinking whatever you're gonna You gotta let
people be pissed. You gotta let your fans be pissed.
You gotta let them be upset with you. And eventually
when you prove that a, we're still gonna a good
team out there because Kyrie and Ad and whoever they
(38:03):
had this offseasons. Remember they're not paying Luca three hundred
million dollars now in the season. Dallas is gonna be good.
But you just have to take it for a while,
because the Lakers are gonna be terrific. They're gonna finish
second in the Western Conference. They're an NBA title threat.
Look out like you understand that this is it's gonna
be bad for a while. You just got to take it,
and you got to play the long game, because the
(38:24):
long game is what's gonna get the fans back, and
we got you back. You gotta win games and get
that other player in and and feel like you're back
on the right path. But people are gonna be pissed
for a while now. If you believe the Twitter doctors
out there, this Kyrie thing is not a short term
nor twenty games left in the season to cast a.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Pall on things. But they've also bailed, as we've talked
about tonight.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
They've bailed on the in season tournament before and gotten
themselves into the lottery.
Speaker 3 (38:50):
So why wouldn't you do it again?
Speaker 1 (38:51):
It bailed on the on the play. In turn, I'm
the playing sorry, and no one sorry. Someone will do
that soon though. We're bailing on the Indy. I should,
I should, I should talk to them by their sponsor names.
Speaker 3 (39:04):
But yes, the play, I've done with this.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
No, no crazy court. We're just gonna play it right,
we don't care we're playing it. Yeah, we're We're gonna
rest all our teams on the court and.
Speaker 3 (39:15):
We're out of there.
Speaker 1 (39:16):
But yeah, to that point, they've played out in that
before and I would suspect we can do it again.
So just remember better, better days ahead for the Mavericks.
You just have to get through this time now.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
Lastly, I say this to you because we saw it
big this week and you were big on it and
Frostburg about it. What did you think of John cenas.
Speaker 1 (39:36):
He'll turn it's a fantastic angle to go through. Guys,
he's supposed to be in the downside of his career.
We were kind of curious because they're turning heel because
he's in the downside.
Speaker 3 (39:45):
Interesting. Well, but it's supposed to be his final runs.
So is it ever really your final run? Come it is?
They can't see you? Well, that's true too. How do
you know it's his final along the way? You don't
know that?
Speaker 1 (39:55):
But they also registered the trademark for break a Wish
and we know he like, you're doing the Make a
Wish things over six hundred, So does he go heal
on the next kid that he meets with?
Speaker 3 (40:05):
Can you sign this, mister Cena.
Speaker 1 (40:07):
No, there's gonna be some kid coming in and he's
gonna like like he's gonna come in and like grabbing,
shake him and throw him.
Speaker 3 (40:13):
Yeah, Break a Wish?
Speaker 5 (40:14):
What it is?
Speaker 3 (40:15):
It's fantastic.
Speaker 2 (40:16):
No.
Speaker 3 (40:17):
No, it gets heat for WrestleMania in Vegas, which is
what they needed.
Speaker 1 (40:20):
The kid will be getting to meet another wrestler who's
his idol, and Sena comes in and starts beating.
Speaker 3 (40:26):
Up masters up in one of them.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
I'm breaking a wish right now, and then he adds,
he adds on his Scorebard, see, I'm up over six
hundred and five, Jark. But yeah, Travis Scott coming in
and all of that, like it got more heat because
people were going, what's the twist that you're gonna give
us for WrestleMania? All right, real quick, better, he'll turn
Senor hul Cogan, this one, Frostburg Senior hul Cogan.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
Oh Hogan, Wow, that was a man. Coming up next,
my buddy Ben Mallor. This is Fox Sports Radio.
