before we get to two big stories out of college football,
I mean an idea I want to throw by you.
Speaker 4 (00:59):
Tell me what you think of you ready, right?
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Hit me? Let's go so Ucla.
Speaker 1 (01:03):
One tonight over Iowa and college football. Ucla now maybe
go to go into a bowl game. Look at this
right game?
Speaker 5 (01:10):
Will great rushing attack? I think they went over two
hundred yards.
Speaker 1 (01:13):
Yeah, I mean game was on Big Fox. It was
fun to see them. Now Brian Finley, who you know,
does updates here with us a couple times a week.
I mean those are debatable.
Speaker 5 (01:22):
He is.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
He is hosting the Bruins postgame show right now locally
in La. Hey, call in, call in?
Speaker 4 (01:30):
Yeah? Should we troll him and be the first caller
he's ever had? Right now? And then hang up?
Speaker 2 (01:35):
See?
Speaker 1 (01:35):
No, See that's I'm thinking, like, could we call in
and IM and I pretend to be a different voice
and I talk about UCLA and we air like could
we actually do that?
Speaker 4 (01:46):
And then just yell punked and hang up?
Speaker 1 (01:48):
Then you go, hey, hey, the Bruins blow torched the
Hawkeyes tonight. Really amazing way to do that. I don't know,
can we do that? Padre suck come out? I think
that'd be pretty cool. I think you enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (02:04):
I don't.
Speaker 6 (02:05):
Yeah, you know what, Here's here's what he would enjoy
is the fact that somebody's actually calling.
Speaker 4 (02:11):
Find out if we can do it, and maybe we
do it in about fifteen minutes. Who would we have
to ask permission? We don't have to ask permission for that.
Speaker 1 (02:20):
Yeah, but if we air it. Don't we have to
if we're putting it on our air, No vigilantes.
Speaker 5 (02:24):
We don't want going rogue a Friday night dude.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
I don't want a phone call at eight o'clock in
the morning from from Scotch Appiro or Don Martin going, Hey, guys,
call me for something really important.
Speaker 4 (02:36):
Can't tell you about it. I think they're gonna waste
their time with us for bothering. But Brian fed I
don't know. I don't know who Brian Feder. I think
they encourage you.
Speaker 1 (02:46):
If we could do it, maybe we might might have
fun doing it. I was just thinking about that.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
Hey.
Speaker 4 (02:52):
Hey, so the Ruins with a big win to Yes.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Hey, Now, it's not often that one of the top
stories and spots.
Speaker 4 (03:05):
Is when a team has their team plane turn around
to land because players on the team got in a fight.
Speaker 5 (03:13):
That's all right, good, Yeah, this is a Friday night
special right here.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Auburn was flying to Houston for a game now big
game Saturday. Auburn's number eleven in Houston's number four, which
has been great the last few years. Uh, but their
flight had to be grounded after they took off because
of a scuffle involving a couple of players. Now, according
to sources, the incident was over before it escalated anything serious,
(03:39):
but the flight's personnel still opted to turn the plane around.
Maybe the pilot said, if you guys don't behave, I'll
turn this plane around. Come on, you're flying in to
the game. We're turning the plane around.
Speaker 4 (03:48):
We're landing it. Maybe their pilot was Chris Farley from
Billy Madison.
Speaker 2 (03:53):
I'll turn this damn.
Speaker 1 (03:57):
You see him turning it really and the plane just
takes a big lefter. Now, we had heard reports earlier
in the show Steve de Seger say that there was
a disagreement between a player and a couple of brothers
who related on the team, and there was three people involved,
and this report says there were two people involved.
Speaker 4 (04:15):
And it's I mean, I can't wait to find out
what this is.
Speaker 1 (04:20):
And I can't wait for the video because you know,
somebody's got video of this and it's just not out yet.
I assume, just because it's got to be somebody involved
with the Auburn basketball program. And there was a if
I see any of this on social media, you are.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
Off the team. Off the team.
Speaker 1 (04:35):
Now, I don't care who you are, how many minutes
you play you are off the team?
Speaker 5 (04:40):
Yeah, I think that's guy. Look, we have no video.
Everybody's clearing their phone for the last twenty four hours.
We were just wiping it clean. I want to see
them all. I mean, you want to keep your scholarships.
No video makes surrounds up because we do have audio
that's starting to circulate, trying to corroborate its off authenticity
(05:00):
and all.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
That fun stuff.
Speaker 5 (05:02):
But the idea that you know as a coaching staff,
that's gotta be the worst worst headline you can have. Right.
It's one thing to walk out of a press conference
because you're mad about the questioning, questioning a player's heart
and ethics and and work ethic and everything you know,
D'Angel Russell and JJ Redick, and then you have a
(05:22):
thing like tonight. It's like, because there's no way to
hide this, right, There's there's just no way that you're
able to bury this headline from getting out.
Speaker 4 (05:31):
Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking.
Speaker 2 (05:34):
Uh. We had, like Barack Obama, we.
Speaker 1 (05:36):
Had listen, listen, let me be clear, let me be
Today's in flight movie is top Cotton. Maverick However, we
now turn the plane around flight. The tenants take your seats,
and if you want to call into Fandel Oliver, not
making a game might wind up being a forfeit. So
(05:57):
if you want to get your money right now on Houston,
go ahead.
Speaker 4 (06:00):
And do that.
Speaker 1 (06:01):
Fight attendants, please prepare for a rival. We will be
on the ground shortly.
Speaker 6 (06:08):
I wonder if that's out went Okay, that's that's up
at There are some.
Speaker 4 (06:12):
Good gifts going around about this. I'm not gonna lie.
Speaker 6 (06:16):
I can't burn basketball when they reach twenty thousand feet
and it's it's the macho man, Randy Savage off the
top rope.
Speaker 1 (06:23):
I mean, what kind of fight could you possibly get it?
I mean, obviously we don't have horse plenty horse plan. Yeah,
it could be horse played that got out of hand.
Speaker 4 (06:31):
It could be. It couldn't Yeah, yeah, I could have
been that.
Speaker 2 (06:35):
I could have been a fight over the you know greatness.
Speaker 1 (06:39):
But I mean, how do you get in a fight.
I mean, that's how do you get in a fight
on a plane Like that's like the last play. I
would be so nervous. You can stop jumping up and down.
I know you're gonna put a hole through this plane,
you're gonna fall through and open it up.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
And some of them.
Speaker 1 (06:52):
I don't understand how you get in a fight on
a plane. I I really don't. That's a that's a
that's a tough one for me to swallow.
Speaker 5 (06:59):
I mean, I've seen some pretty good arguments in my
day traveling around. You know, the kid kicking the seat
and someone getting mad and my kid. Does you know
my kid's got to go across the country four hours, like, no,
your kid needs to stop being a jerk.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
You one more time, go cougars, I said, I'm gonna
kick yourss.
Speaker 2 (07:19):
Let's see. Uh. Odds of a girl being the cause of.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
This, oh hey, oh well, you know, hey, that could
be the case. Absolutely, that could be the case.
Speaker 5 (07:29):
Not that she necessarily did anything wrong, you know. To
make sure my words are clear.
Speaker 1 (07:34):
Someone taking someone taking the gingerbread cookie that was left
for me on my trade table when I went to
the bathroom, that could be it, sure.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
And the bisk off is a highly coveted snack.
Speaker 1 (07:45):
Oh dude, can I tell you when they have the
gingerbread cookies, they're so good. I always say, excuse me,
can I have another one? Because these are just so
good and they're like, oh my god, I go yes,
I love these cookies. They're so good. They give me
like three here, take these. Take Oh my god, this
is so great, like they were the chefs and made them. No,
we're gonna take them.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
Do you love them?
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Take them? Like, oh, thank you so much.
Speaker 4 (08:05):
And I wanted with these gingerbread cookies for the next
like three four. It was Bruce Pearl this. Uh, maybe
Bruce Pearl was in the fight. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (08:13):
Maybe someone said, hey, Bruce boy, we're gonna win more games.
You want to tennessee?
Speaker 2 (08:17):
That said who said that rotation?
Speaker 5 (08:22):
And then he uh he threw something that had some
incendiary message in the middle and said, hey, make it quick.
Speaker 4 (08:28):
Oh you know what movie I want to watch? Curse
of the Bruce Pearl. I said, I'm gonna kick your ass.
Speaker 2 (08:33):
Didn't didn't did it? And did?
Speaker 4 (08:38):
I really want to see what costs this?
Speaker 2 (08:40):
See, I gotta like this guy.
Speaker 4 (08:43):
This wouldn't have happened at Alabama. I'm gonna kick your ass,
all right.
Speaker 1 (08:46):
Uh so again, we'll wait and see what finds out.
And I don't know, maybe Auburn gets there for the game.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
I have no right. Maybe did they take right off
again in a new plane. I don't know.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
They definitely said they had to, they were gonna take
off again. Uh, we're gonna tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
We're gonna d play. We're gonna leave tomorrow. We're gonna
We're gonna leave tomorrow morning. Get right to the arena
and play the game. Yeah I am. I'm gonna be
taking Houston. I will lay the points, Houston, and lay
the points. I meanwhile, speaking of taking a team and
lay the points. One of the big games tomorrow, Hey
back on national TV. After what feels like a five
week exile, Colorado and Texas Tech in a big game.
(09:20):
Every game is a must win for the Buffaloes, who
have found a way over the last five weeks to
get themselves back on the periphery of the college football playoff. Now, look,
play It's gonna be a difficult thing for them. There's
not gonna be a lot of spots there for big
twelve teams. Yes, you have the one conference champion, but
outside of that, it's gonna be a lot of sec
(09:40):
gonna be a lot of big ten minutes. All said
and done, but I have to give Colorado credit for
something that I didn't think they could do. They have
just put their heads down and played football the last
five weeks and here they are now at six and two.
When it looked like their season was over. You lose
a couple of games early, get embarrassed by Nebraska, and
everybody thinks, oh, it's a re play of last year.
Speaker 4 (10:01):
It's terrible. And I didn't think Colorado could stay away
from it.
Speaker 1 (10:04):
I don't think Deon Sanders could stay away from the
headlines and Shaduora Sanders could stay away from the big headlines,
because that's not who they are. They are all about.
Look at me, look at what's going on. Deon Love's
getting into it with the press. That's just kind of
the aura around the Colorado program. It's what they've been
since Deon took over. And in the last five weeks,
they've just played football and they've won, and they've got
(10:27):
themselves back into the They're probably rated a little too high,
but they're in the top twenty five because they are Colorado.
But I got to give them a lot of credit
because I did not think they could just go play
football and not create distractions, and they have and I
was wrong, And it's great to see them here because
college football is better when Colorado and Deon Sanders are good.
However long he's there for, and to get them into
(10:49):
the playoff would be some kind of story. I didn't
think they could do it, And here they are in
a big must win game national TV against Texas Tech tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
This is a journey I did not think was gonna
happen with.
Speaker 5 (11:00):
Better balance, better depth at wide receiver, and should dour
Sanders not trying to force the issue? Travis Hunters having
a fantastic season. He's protesting a bit too much when
folks are clapping back on him on social media regarding
Heisman and his greatness. But you know what, hey, you
pass the time. Plenty of headlines right, should wear Sanders?
Does he look better at a Raiders uniform or a
(11:22):
Cowboys uniform? All of those kinds of things. Where should
Dion coach next? Should he be at USC should he
be with the Raiders or the Cowboys or wherever else?
I mean, they're still there, but taking care of business
in between the white lines and getting better, more consistent play.
Speaker 2 (11:40):
I gotta give him credit.
Speaker 5 (11:41):
Like whatever they've done, maybe they added fourteen hundred pounds
of muscle to their offensive line high Lincoln. But all
of that to say that, you know, it's a better
brand of football in it. And I'd be curious to see,
in terms of the ranking algorithm how much this is
a great TV show plays into getting them maybe a
(12:01):
little higher, look said should they're a little bit over
r reality here.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Yeah, you're not looking at a team that that's got
a bunch of top twenty five wins and they've won
their way back in. No, they're a great TV show,
they're high profile. So here there are six and two. No,
I completely get that, and that's okay because by the
end of the year everything will sus itself out as
far as that goes.
Speaker 5 (12:21):
All right, here's the specificity you asked for. Auburn opened
as a two point dog heading to Houston. They're now
five and a half point dog.
Speaker 1 (12:32):
Wow, So turning around a plane and landing is worth
three and a half points. Okay, Now, if that ever
happens again in the future, we know what that's worth.
With the point spread, it's worth three and a half points,
all right. If a plane have to fight in because
of a fight, it's worth.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
Three and a half points.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
Now, look, I'm gonna give you a big bull prediction
for Colorado tomorrow and it's look, I love being out
there on this Texas Tech defense is awful, right, the
worst defense in the conference. It's absolutely terrible. It's a big,
high profile game. Colorado's gonna throw the football a ton.
Dion's gonna make sure they throw the football a ton.
(13:09):
I'm gonna say that Shadora Sanders goes for five hundred
tomorrow in this game, a.
Speaker 4 (13:15):
Lot of points.
Speaker 2 (13:15):
He's besting Joe Burrow.
Speaker 4 (13:17):
He goes for five hundred tomorrow in this game.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
All right, well, here you go.
Speaker 5 (13:21):
I got the odds for you over under Sanders passing
yards three twenty seven and a half over under Travis
Hunter receiving yards one oh two point five.
Speaker 4 (13:34):
Oh man, Really that's it against Texas Tech. Texas Tech
is terrible.
Speaker 1 (13:38):
Wow, that's not a lot. I mean, do you may
get a hont you might have one hundred and ten
yards in the first half.
Speaker 5 (13:43):
I gotta see if we got any big odds on
a running back here, like they're just gonna grind clock
and then yeah, there you go, uh fifty and a half.
Speaker 4 (13:53):
I think that's going way over. That's going way over. Yep.
Get ready five five hundo.
Speaker 2 (14:00):
Well, but right behind him, you got a couple of
their other running things.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Five hundo for Shador Sanders give me the all right, Well,
I'm gonna lock that in right now, Fox Sports Radio
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Carmon Live from Thetireck
dot Com Studios. We'll have more on the latest drama
involving the Lakers following their big win tonight. But straight ahead,
(14:26):
two big stories out of the NFL. One quarterback that
it's time to see him play and we've been waiting
for him to play for quite a long time. That's
next right here, Jason and Mike, Fox Sports Radio, thirty seven.
You're not counting to five hundred. He might forty forty one.
Speaker 4 (14:49):
It's very minor.
Speaker 3 (14:50):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the radio app.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon.
Speaker 2 (15:07):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (15:07):
Now, before we get into two big stories out of
the NFL, I want to let you know an update
of what we talked about a few minutes ago. I
tried to go in and call into Brian Finley's post
game show on the Bruins win Tonight, Ucla beats Iowa
out at the Rose Bowl and I tried to call in.
I said my name was Francisco from LA and didn't
(15:30):
get to me, so I didn't add to you. I
didn't get to know. No, he was talking to somebody else,
talking to a caller, and then he was talking about
something else, went to another caller.
Speaker 4 (15:38):
He probably doesn't know how to change calls.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Well, I think he shows how to do that a
little bit, So maybe I'll do I'll call in again
after Disager's update. I'll be Alonzo, like I'll be a
different Mets player every time. Was Francisco last time, I'll
be Alonzo this time and see if I can get through.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
My name's Pete, because the person he ever do is say.
Speaker 1 (16:00):
Hey, I want to talk about how Ucla pile drove
Iowa tonight they blow torched the Hawk Guys.
Speaker 4 (16:06):
I really I want to do that. I really want
to do that. It's now look obsessed with doing it.
Speaker 2 (16:12):
I love it. We gotta make it happen.
Speaker 1 (16:14):
So two big stories out of the NFL tonight. First
one and I'm all in on this, and I don't
know why this isn't something that is happening right away.
I guess I get in theory, But come on, the
Cowboys are gonna be without Dak Prescott for quite a while.
Speaker 6 (16:29):
We know this.
Speaker 4 (16:31):
The hamstring part of it tore away from the bone
last week. His injury.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
Jerry Jones said today and his weekly radio appear at
his end of the week weekly radio appears one in
the beginning of the week, one the other week said
that it's likely Dak is gonna go on injured reserve.
They don't think he's gonna come back in the next
four weeks. And we told you, look, Dak is done.
He's not gonna play the rest of the season in
the NFL. He's not coming back to risk injury. He's
sure as hell isn't coming back if they're four and
(16:55):
eleven just to go out there and get meat up
for three weeks. So we've seen the last of Prescott
for the season. But Jerry Jones had something interesting to
say today. He said that, hey, there is a package.
There is some offensive stuff in there for Trey Lance,
which I think at this point maybe Mike McCarthy didn't
want out there. But okay, way, Jerry, you do you
(17:16):
but not just to get him action, but because they
think they can get him out there and he can
help the team. And you know, I see this and
I go I understand the thought that if we go
right to Trey Lance, people are gonna think the season's over.
But I got news for you. The season's over and
the players know it. Dak is out, the team is terrible,
everybody else is hurt. They know the season's over. Did
(17:39):
you get Trey Lance to sit him or did you
get Trey Lance to see if maybe he actually can
help you one way or another?
Speaker 2 (17:46):
Right?
Speaker 1 (17:46):
And I'm not saying that he's definitely gonna come in
and set the world on fire, but what if he does.
Cooper Rush is a guy that's gonna barely move the
team down the field, and with a really good Cowboys team,
he was barely able to squeak out a couple of wins.
He didn't play poorly, he played okay. He's a pretty
decent backup. But this is a bad Cowboys team. The
season's over. Maybe Trey Lance catches fire. The guy was
(18:09):
a number three overall pick in the NFL Draft for
a reason. He hasn't really played at all in close
to five years. Now, did you get him just to
pressure Dak Prescott or did you get him to think
at some point maybe maybe we can put him out
there and see what he's got.
Speaker 4 (18:25):
And now's the time.
Speaker 1 (18:26):
If he stinks, guess what, well, you're picking early in
the dred. You're picking even earlier in the draft anyway,
And now you know Trey Lance is no good you
can move on. But if he's good, boy, that's a
good problem to have.
Speaker 7 (18:37):
That.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Hey, he came in and just lit a fire under
the team, and maybe now he's someone you can trade
who's an asset. Maybe you want to move on from Dak.
Cowboys do crazy things, but find out what you have
in the guy. I mean, there's a reason why that.
You know, he was taking third overall, never really had
the chance, never got the chance to stay healthy. I
don't know why you don't just go to training Lance
and say, okay, go play, go play, you got you got,
(19:00):
you know, good eight weeks here of football to play
and if it shows after five or six weeks you can't,
we'll go to Cooper Rush. We'll figure things out. But
even Cooper Rush would understand the train Lance.
Speaker 4 (19:09):
Has to play.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
I mean, it's an easy thing. Let's get you ready
and get you in there to play. Could you have
done it in this short week? Yeah, you probably could have.
But okay, not this week?
Speaker 4 (19:18):
But next why not?
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Like well, I don't understand why Trey Lance isn't someone
that the Cowboys are saying, we're getting him ready to
start the rest of the season. If we're gonna be
without Dak Prescott, Trey is gonna be our guy and
we're gonna see what we have in him, because you
never know.
Speaker 2 (19:32):
Yeah, first off, I ain't worried whether Cooper Rush understands
or care.
Speaker 1 (19:36):
I ain't worried about anything. I went to Northwestern, not
Mike Hartman. I never took an English class because I
ain't worried about it. Sorry, go ahead, buddy, step two.
Speaker 5 (19:47):
Hey, that car think about the future, and that's really
where we're at in this. Look you when they were
full strength to start the season, were they had any
good No, they were no good. So thinking all of
a sudden with your quarterback that you paid all this
money to suddenly things you're gonna you know, lightning in
a bottle, and you go on some massive winning streak
(20:09):
and you're piling up points.
Speaker 2 (20:11):
Because that's the bigger part of this.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
Right, whatever, the.
Speaker 5 (20:13):
Defense is fine, you weren't dominating with Dak Right, a
lot of your stats were in oh, excuse me, frantic
comeback mode when you're getting absolutely buried. There's a touchdown
for Cede Lamb. Hey, what's that bring it to? They're
back within seventeen. It doesn't matter where you're at at
this point. And if Trey Lance is any good, then yeah,
(20:35):
then you've figured out your backup plan and you've got
some return on investment for.
Speaker 2 (20:40):
The trades you made.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
But in the interim you got a whole lot of nothing,
and Cooper Rush is a jag. You're not gonna score
a ton of points. This defense is not suddenly gonna
be ranked up with the Chargers as a points allowed
per game leader in the National Football League. Oh, especially
against Philly. Suddenly they're gonna be world beaters in this game.
Speaker 2 (21:03):
Come on.
Speaker 5 (21:04):
I don't like Nick Sirianni on the whole, but you
look at the talent that's assembled. It's the damn super
Friends compared to what you got here, got a bunch
of jobbers, mid card jobbers.
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Like you're not watching Saturday Morning Wrestling.
Speaker 4 (21:19):
Get me, Lieutenant Eckhart.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
That's how fast I would get on the phone with
Jerry Jones to say Trey Lance should be starting.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Get me, Lieutenant Eckhard. Here's Jerry Jones from early Today
talking about Trey Lance.
Speaker 7 (21:36):
Well, he's a great and I use the word he's
he's a real threat with his legs, A big threat
with his legs. I see that. I saw some I
saw him inconsistent in preseason, but I saw him do
(21:58):
some real good things in the passing game as well.
Uh so, uh that's to be expected relatively speaking, as
compared to the other players we're talking about. He's had
a small number of snaps in his career, but I
see situations that he could add to the mix.
Speaker 1 (22:19):
And uh, in case you can't tell, I'm just reading
right off of something Steven wrote for me. Uh so
that's why I had all the pauses with what was
going on. Plays with his legs, Yeah, blah, I got
down down to bed u arm strength. I haven't seen, okay,
down of the spark from the team.
Speaker 7 (22:38):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (22:38):
I can't read Stevens writing a little bit about uh
but uh uh yeah, that's that's the thing for the
Lance kid. So uh yeah, that's all. Don't ask me
any more questions because I got to the end of
the page. The only thing on the back was Steven's
lunch order and it says Turkey Club and Cherry Coke.
So if unless you had a question about Trey Lance
(23:01):
and I can answer by saying Turkey Club Cherry Coke,
that's gonna be it.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
So what's the next question.
Speaker 5 (23:07):
Do you think as he started to talk about what
you saw from him throwing the ball? You know once
he led with his legs that he started and someone
was holding up a sign that said five interceptions in
the preseason, So he didn't go too deep down the
road of just.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
You know, trying to build him up.
Speaker 1 (23:26):
Wait a minute, but you're telling me that this kid
throws the football with his legs. Haven't seen that from
a quarterback. I haven't seen. What does he do, like
just take the snap and then just kind of kick it.
This is the spiral, like, well, I don't understand what
we're the Cowboys shout it up because we're throwing the
ball from a low perspective off the ground.
Speaker 4 (23:44):
Can he get it up over the line? Of scrimmage.
Speaker 1 (23:46):
That's the whole thing is that's got to get up
over and into somebody's hand. But boy, if he could
do that, he'd be on that Britain's Got Talent show
with the Cowl kid. And uh, I think that that
kind of be fun. If you, you know, kick a
football throw with a spiral, that would be kind of
be kind of fun. I'd like to see a kid
do that. Yeah, that was written for me as well.
Stephen wrote that too. So okay, all right, well wait
(24:07):
do you see.
Speaker 4 (24:07):
What plays we have designs for those escape lab monkeys.
Speaker 5 (24:13):
Of Also, because we're gonna play with a quarterback who
throws with his feet, I've rehired uh into the NFL
Rex Roy.
Speaker 4 (24:21):
We're gonna run five of them on special teams Sunday.
Speaker 2 (24:29):
Come and see my monkeys. Thought you thought they escaped
from the lab. Now this was a major I gotta
direction by us.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
I gotta be honest with you. Guys like that story
last night and they still can't find. What we're talking
about is the in South Carolina the thirty nine now
forty three monkeys. That one is forty three, forty three monkeys.
Well that was yesterday because more now right exactly?
Speaker 2 (24:52):
Well, yeah, orcement escape escaped.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
From a from a what is not a rebuilt nation
center but a uh a lab, and which is exactly
how Planet of the Apes begins with them where you know,
Tom Felton lets them out.
Speaker 2 (25:07):
Yeah, you like that picture of Tom Felton. I said,
that was a.
Speaker 1 (25:10):
Great picture Tom Felton and Jerry Jones, who of course
talked about the fact his dad like owned a zoo
and we play the drop he has all the time
about coming to see my monkeys. All of a sudden,
I'm driving home last night thinking of a Planet of
the Apes movie starring Jerry Chelgers.
Speaker 2 (25:28):
I mean, just just think about that.
Speaker 1 (25:33):
Uh I told, I told, I told the Malfoy kid, hey,
put the lock on. You can't can't let him all out.
And then they got all out and that's out.
Speaker 2 (25:41):
I don't know what to do.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
I called uh Lucius Malfoy. He's not calling me back.
I don't know. I don't know what else to do
right now. I have no idea.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
And he left his wand I try to try to
run a spell on it, and I gotta go back
to Oliveander and tell me, hey, this wand doesn't work.
The phoenix feather inside is no good. Uh, so I
gotta figure something else. Jerry Jones starring in a plan
of the aph movies, it was gonna be outstanding. Him
is the ascent of Jason Clark or Gary Oldman, who
are the star. Now it's gonna be Jerry Jones is
(26:10):
gonna be fighting this battle. So Woody Harrelson, it's Jerry
Jones in this like that would be outstanding.
Speaker 5 (26:16):
Breaks down because of the lack of an authenticity of
a phoenix feather.
Speaker 4 (26:22):
Listen.
Speaker 2 (26:22):
So now that's the extra quest to try to bring
this all together.
Speaker 1 (26:26):
Caesar, let me tell you, I'm pretty good at negotiations,
so uh, I don't think you're gonna negotiate well with me.
And then he goes back to people and says, so
I broke her to piece. Basically, I gave Caesar five
years and two hundred and fifty million dollars all guaranteed,
and uh that's uh, that's what's gonna happen. And in return,
(26:48):
uh uh, we have to leave and they're gonna just
kind of kind of take over. So that was a
bad negotiation by me. I guess all right, my fault,
I'll say this one. I call into one of three
five the fan uh this week and we'll talk to
talk about that. One O five three one five. You know,
it's all right, It's all I forget sometime the numbers
(27:09):
pre programmed into my phone. Steven tells me when to
dial and a dial and then it goes in.
Speaker 2 (27:14):
But I don't know.
Speaker 1 (27:14):
Hey, when I don't think people there was any phones
that worked and planning to the apes, I don't don't
think it worked. I don't think anybody was calling anybody.
I tried to call and make some trades didn't didn't
work out. Stephen, make sure my phone can't call out.
Speaker 4 (27:25):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (27:25):
I was able to get an outside line. It's the
only reason I was able to get Jonathan Mingo from
the Carolina Panthers. I've got it outside line, Leo, say hey,
let me call David Tepper. I got able to get
Jonathan Mingo. Worked out fantastic for me.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
That's great.
Speaker 5 (27:40):
Ex during the holidays because when he keeps saying one
O three five, deal with.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
That, But that would be the deal. I think like
Jerry Jones would talk about how it like the zoo
that his dad owned when he was a kid, and
would get and.
Speaker 1 (27:56):
He would draw on that, uh ru, and he would
draw on that experiences to be able to try to win,
like he would draw such like you draw that. Somehow
I can't.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Throw back moments to young Jerry Joe.
Speaker 1 (28:08):
You know what I'm gonna do is bring out the
Flamingos and get the Flamingos to cause a little bit
of a a little bit of a uh uh of
a distraction. And you know, flamingos, they don't really smell
that great day up close to you. Go wow, Flamingos don't.
So then again, I got all kinds of things happening here,
and I'm gonna go get that live tiger the LSU
is gonna bring on the field against Alabama tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
He's gonna fight for me too. So I'm feeling pretty
good about what I got so far. Gonna be good.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
Yeah, no long uh time now to find out what's
trending in the wide world of sports from a guy
who's gonna save us from this movie?
Speaker 4 (28:41):
Is that possible at this point? Oh, it's a man
who's gonna eat a whole jar of mayonaise.
Speaker 1 (28:45):
When Will Levis plays cornerback for the Titans on Sunday,
it's Steve Disager.
Speaker 8 (28:49):
Actually, what I'm expecting is turnovers to you see to
start there. Okay, sure we do have baseball to lead
off with, because the LA Times for reporting that the
Japanese club has announced the young picture Roki Sasaki will
be posted for a move to Major League Baseball this offseason.
He just turned twenty three this week. He's had four
years in the Japanese League with a career ERA of
(29:10):
two point one zero. The Yankees picked up manager Aaron
Boone's contract option for next year, and the Phillies promoted
Preston matting Lee to general manager. In college football, tonight
at the Rose Bowl on Fox TV, UCLA was down
to Iowa ten nothing after the first quarter, but beat
the Hawkeyes twenty to seventeen. Bruins kicked a fifty seven
yard field goal in the second quarter. CAL had been
(29:31):
zero to four in the ACC but won at Wake
foro is forty six thirty six. Cal's defense with seven
sacks to night Wake with four turnovers. Memphis now eight
and two overall after defeating Rice twenty seven to twenty.
There is a game on FS one right now with
still three and a half minutes to go. New Mexico
holding on at San Diego State twenty one to sixteen
(29:52):
Saturday afternoon on Fox TV Number twenty. Colorado at Texas
Tech after the Ohio State Purdue matchup. Titans quarterback Will
Levis will start Sunday, a miss three weeks after his
shoulder injury. The forty nine Ers say they plan to
activate running back Christian McCaffrey tomorrow, so he'll make his
season debut Sunday after the Achilles injury. Jacksonville quarterback Trevor
Lawrence is listed as questionable but likely out this weekend
(30:15):
with a left shoulder injury. He was limited in practice
again today. Washington running back Brian Robinson is out again
with a hamstring injury. He did not practice today. By
the way, New Washington defense back Marshawn Lattimore is also
out this weekend. Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill miss practice
with a wrist injury, but Miami plays Monday night at
the Rams. Bill's wide receiver key On Coleman out with
(30:37):
a wrist injury, coldswide receiver Michael Pittman out with backen
finger injuries, and Saints wide receiver chrys Olave out with
a concussion. The Jets expect this weekend's kicker to be
Spencer Schrader, and Andrews Carlson was added to the practice squad.
Kicker Riley Patterson was cut.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Yeah but wait, they had three kickers today. They could
have three kickers tomorrow. You may there may be six
more kickers before the Jets saidl on a guy for Sunday.
Speaker 8 (31:02):
The Jets will have themselves kicked by the time they
decide on a kicker.
Speaker 4 (31:06):
Pat Lay, he may be kicking for the Jets on Sunday.
Speaker 8 (31:09):
Mark Moseley, straight ahead, Mark Moseley available.
Speaker 4 (31:13):
Tony Franklin, No shot, Tony Franklin.
Speaker 8 (31:15):
Sure, Tony Franklin. Of course he had that little college
What was the thing they could place the hold on
in college football ball?
Speaker 4 (31:22):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, you kind of have the t yeah sure.
Speaker 8 (31:24):
Yeah, a little foot or foot off an inch off
the ground and then your foot would not hit the ground.
Because we saw a miss field goal this week where
the kicker's foot swept the ground and then really didn't
kick the actual ball. College basketball, number one Kansas blew
a twenty point lead late first step, but still defeated
number nine North Carolina ninety two eighty nine. Number two
(31:44):
Alabama beat Arkansas State eighty eight to seventy nine that
was tied with under seven minutes left. New Mexico has
just defeated number two twenty two UCLA in Las Vegas,
seventy two to sixty four, and twenty fourth ranked Old
Miss over Grambling sixty six sixty four In the NBA,
Cleveland's ten and zero after ripping Golden State. Boston won
in overtime over Brooklyn. A win for Detroit one twenty

two to one twenty one against Atlanta k Cunningham a
last second block Phoenix on a last second free throw

and one. Oklahoma City eight and one after beating Houston,
New York over Milwaukee. The Bucks record two and seven,
and the late night wins went to the Clippers, who
won at Sacramento one oh seven ninety eight kings from
three point range three for twenty six, and the Lakers

beat Philadelphia one sixteen, one oh six Anthony Davis thirty
one points Philly one and seven. In the NHL, Pittsburgh
beat Washington. Vegas has lost in overtime at Seattle.
Speaker 4 (32:39):
Back to you. Thank you, Steve O.
Speaker 1 (32:41):

one big time NBA team may have really figured something
out tonight. Plus we'll give your upset special picks for
the NFL this weekend. Keep it right here, Jason and Mike,
Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
From the five. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten
pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific.
Speaker 4 (33:11):
When I watch a NIXT game, my eyes are gonna bleed.
Speaker 1 (33:15):
Fox Sports Radio, The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon,
Live from the ti Rack dot Com Studios. Uh so,
you know we made this big Bowl prediction. Talked about
this earlier this hour. Look a week ago, I told
you Doc Rivers may not make it to Christmas. Yeah,
after the Bucks lose again tonight, another listless loss there
two and seven, I said, forget that, he may not
(33:37):
make it to Thanksgiving. And then I got a couple
of people saying, hey, will he make it to veterans?
Speaker 4 (33:43):
Say that's a holiday.
Speaker 2 (33:47):
I don't know, not make it to veterans.
Speaker 5 (33:50):
Trying to get the veracity of some postgame comments as
to whether it's an AI post or true and authentic
Yahnis and inter actions in the locker room. Because if
that's uh what I sent to you and Frostburg, if
that's really going down, then they got some fractures that
are really getting coming to bear really fast here.
Speaker 4 (34:12):
I mean maybe he I mean, maybe they lose to
Boston on Sunday in at two and eight. That's it.
He doesn't make it to Veterans Day.
Speaker 2 (34:18):
I don't know.
Speaker 5 (34:19):
That's crazy moving up the holidays. Is there any other
holidays between now and the Veterans Day and between now
and Monday? No, we're good between the.
Speaker 2 (34:26):
One between Veterans and Thanksgiving.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
National Donut he might not make it to National Donut
Day or I don't know.
Speaker 3 (34:36):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (34:37):
Now, speaking of basketball, like, it's not often that you
get nights like tonight. However, we watched the Lakers just
roll over the Sixers. Okay, that was expected. The Sixers
playing without Embiid, without Tyrese Maxi, without Doctor J, without
and they didn't have anybody tonight, and the Lakers rolled
over them.
Speaker 4 (34:55):
The Lakers had a big.
Speaker 1 (34:58):
Lineup adjustment to where D'Angelo Russell came off the bench.
You remember we talked about how look, JJ Reddick got
extremely mad at him, benched him the other night, wouldn't
talk about a post game. It took the Lakers two
weeks to break JJ Reddick. So tonight D'Angel Russell comes
off the bench, and what happens. The Lakers and Russell
play their best game in a long time. And I
(35:21):
gotta be honest with you, Yes it is the Sixers.
They weren't very good, but sometimes you stumble on something
that is unexpected. I'm sure that D'Angel Russell was out
of the lineup to make a point, but when you
have a guy not handling the ball, because look, D'Angel
Russell is the guy that handles the ball for the Lakers.
If you don't like his decision making, and other guys
(35:42):
can handle the ball better, the less he handles the ball,
the better you're going to look at the Lakers at
twenty seven assists to night, Lebron led the team and assists.
Speaker 4 (35:50):
He was really good.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
He was kind of a scoring he's kind of an
equal scoring passing threat. Tonight and D'Angel Russell came off
the bench. He had a big night shooting and maybe
this is what the Lakers have stumbled upon. Austin Reeves
was big tonight. He had six threes. He was wide
open for a lot of shots. Lebron was able to
find him. Maybe this is what the Lakers even they
(36:13):
stumbled onto something tonight, because I'm sure sure as hell.
We look around at each other after the game and go, wow,
yeah we had a d back, but hey, less of
D'Angelo Russell handling the ball, less bad decisions, We're able
to stay in control of this game. He comes off
the bench and does his thing. Maybe this is how
it works right now. It's not so much as easy
as Cam redd is starting in the line. But you
know he only had one shot tonight. But when you
(36:35):
take the ball out of the hands of a player
you don't trust, and other players you trust more handle
the ball, this to be better for your team. And
the Lakers were much more efficient tonight, and I think
they might have stumbled onto something.
Speaker 2 (36:45):
No, and that's it.
Speaker 5 (36:46):
You get Anthony Davis back as Frostburg gets noted it
throughout the night, how great he looked. That's going to
solve a lot of ills. But you're also trying to
make sure you're smart in these early games, particularly when
you're at a decided advantage shorthanded sixers squad a bit
reeling and maybe they find a hot hand that rises
up that did not happen, but where you could find
(37:09):
some less stressful minutes for Lebron, a different role and
get the ball flowing. And for D'Angelo Russell when efforts
the issue, yeah that you don't want the ball in
the guy's hands with the first unit, but coming off
the bench, he had a good effort. She had a
couple of nice hustle plays early on to show JJ Reddick.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
Look, I can do this, I can do this.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Don't lose faith.
Speaker 5 (37:29):
And he said all the right things in the post game, right,
I just want to win and all of that. Whatever
my role has got to be, We'll see how long
that lasts. But at least for a night you found
a formula that worked and kind of cruised to you
in a pretty easy victory. Here Lebron gets to fill
the stat sheet, Davis plays well, and you get sixteen
(37:50):
off off the bench for Russell. How long that works?
You know, ego is a terrible, terrible thing that you
it's the best of things that worked things right for
beels you to greatness, but maybe you're a downfall. So
we'll see how long he's happy in the role. But
at least for one night, they at least found an
extra piece to the puzzle that's there. Does it solve
(38:14):
all problems, but it solved one of eighty two, which
after the road trip you just had, is a nice
step back in the right direction, particularly for all the heat.
JJ Reddick also got after that early start where it
was a love fest and started to turn on him,
particularly given that terrible press conference.
Speaker 1 (38:32):
Telling me they may have hit on something interesting to see,
and Reddick even said after the game, Hey, the lineup
is a real fluid thing.
Speaker 4 (38:40):
I think they hit on something.
Speaker 2 (38:42):
Time.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
Now for Mike and I to give you our upset
special picks of the week in the nflbum but in
my fourteen and five record on the line an.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
Awful bad beat last week thanks to Duke.
Speaker 2 (38:51):
Thanks Duke Buducas. Still, Duke, I feel really good.
Speaker 1 (38:56):
Give me the Steelers and two and a half over
the Commanders in a game that very quickly became potential
game of the week.
Speaker 2 (39:03):
Wow.
Speaker 1 (39:04):
Sure, yes, the Commanders have been terrific. The Steelers defense
is phenomenal. They're physical. They're gonna cause a lot of
problems for the Commanders who are still kind of feeling
their newfound success. The Steelers are gonna get turnovers, they're
gonna capitalize on short fields, and they're gonna win this
game over Washington. It's gonna be a bit of a
reality check for the Commanders and a bit of a
(39:26):
this is how the Steelers like to win. They're physical,
they're gonna get short fields, and I'll give you a bonus.
Mike Williams scores his first touchdown for the Steelers. He
catches a red zone touchdown pass. Steelers win on the field.
I'll still take the points, but I won't need him.
Speaker 2 (39:40):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (39:41):
I'm gonna take the Cardinals short favorite or Shirt Road
doggets coming in one and a half. Trying to, you know,
go against the clock. Forty six and a half your total,
but looking for Connor and Benson to run the ball
as well as the wheels, the sonic wheels of Kyler
Murray also a bonus pick to take New England plus
(40:01):
six on the road at Chitcutt.
Speaker 1 (40:04):
No, you're upset, you're mad about your bears. That is
emotional I'm not allowing you to make that pick. You
can have the Jet take TI pick against the Jets.
You jerk, but I'm not. I'm gonna be your best
friend and i'm gonna let you you're you're a little emotional.
Speaker 4 (40:17):
That pick doesn't count.
Speaker 5 (40:18):
I'll take the Colts plus four at home against Buffalo.
Speaker 4 (40:21):
That one's okay. Bern and Bernie Ferrano's next five
