You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
Greetings, Welcome inside final hour tonight The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Pors up.

Speaker 1 (00:35):
Business fluctuations make running your manufacturing business complex, but staff

The slender Man is out on the mound for the Bananas. Yeah,
you were watching the Savannah Bananas play right now, because

(00:56):
you know that's where we're at it. You know, three
three baseball games.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Got that?

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I mean we have a four to four game in
the eleventh. It just caught my eye for a minute, like,
what the hell's going on there?

Speaker 4 (01:05):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:06):
But tonight we watched the Detroit Lions get back to
being the Lions. They beat the Ravens thirty eight to
thirty in the game that wasn't really that close. The
Ravens getting oh, by the way, touchdown, they go for two,
don't get it on sidekick fails. It's the Lions kneeling
on the football. It was a fourth quarter for the
Lions where they showed every single bit of their medal.

(01:29):
And to start with the Lions before we get to
the Ravens. You know, Dan Campbell doesn't nearly get the
credit as being one of the best head coaches in
the NFL. Like when Mike Tomlin came into the Steelers
and I said, you know what this guy is is
is the new is the new old school? Right, Like
that's kind of who Mike Tomlin. He's the new school,

(01:49):
old school coach. And now he's been with the Steelers
for like, you know, twenty five years now, but he's
always been that same like he had that he had
that bit of I was a player, and I have
the cachet with the players, but I'm a coach and
this is my team. And being able to navigate some
of the personality he had, whether it was Roethlisberger or
Antonio Brown or Le'Veon Bell like the success he has had.

(02:13):
He's always been that new school, old school guy winning
the Super Bowl and Santonio Holmes talking about how he
gave me all kinds of stuff, the advice he gave
me in football in life, and you know, that's that's
the new That was a new type of head coach
in the NFL we hadn't seen before. And now we
have Dan Campbell. And you know, look, you know the Lions,

(02:37):
what they like to do. The team they've put together,
the offensive talents, the best offensive talent of anybody in
the NFL, best offensive system by far. You see the
talent level they have top to bottom. It's amazing.

Speaker 2 (02:49):
You know.

Speaker 1 (02:49):
They they are the team that closely resembles most closely
resembles their head coach's personality. Because Dan Campbell is a
guy that, hey, when I say we're going to go
for it on four and two, We're gonna go for
it on fourth and two. You can disagree, but this
is who I am. I'm real and this is the
type of attitude I want to instill on this team.
What do they do tonight? Fourth and two up by

(03:10):
a touchdown with a couple minutes left to go, they
go for it. On fourth down. Jared Goff throws a
great past to Aman Ross, saying Brown and who is
held at the line of scrimmage. But they don't even
need the penalty because he gets the first down. A
couple of plays later, David Montgomery's in the end zone.
It's a two touchdown lead, and the Lions have said, yes,
this is who we are. We're back to being the Lions.

(03:32):
Dan Campbell is showing you that in an age in
which every team always looks for the next great coordinator.

Speaker 2 (03:40):
Right, who's the.

Speaker 1 (03:41):
Next hot and heavy guy that's come out with a
great offensive or defensive system that is going to light
the world on fire?

Speaker 2 (03:48):
Right?

Speaker 1 (03:48):
Ben Johnson was the number one head coaching Kennet in
the NFL for the last couple of years for a reason. Right,
look at this offensive system in Detroit. Wow, look out, great,
he's always great. Dan Campbell not getting the credit, but
Ben Johnson, Ben Johnson, Okay, Ben Johnson great? You know, hey,
great oc struggling a little bit as head coach in
the NFL gets his first win yesterday. But that's kind
of what the NFL has always looked for, Hey, who's

(04:10):
that who's that guy? And sometimes you luck into things.
Sometimes you luck into things because it's not always that
type of coach that succeeds, but it's someone who just
gets it, someone who gets what it is to be
a head coach and is okay with I'm gonna instill
attitude and a work ethic and and a culture with

(04:30):
this team. And that's why culture centers are so important.
That's why I would like love Aaron Glenn. He's coming
from this culture with the Lions. He's trying to instill
it with the Jets. It's gonna take a little bit
of time, but I'm confident he can do it. But
dancing there, Yeah, we'll get to that in a few minutes,
because that was Don Glinn. But Dan Campbell came in
with the Lions and right away said this is the
type of team we're gonna be. And we laughed with

(04:52):
this whole Hey, we're gonna bite your kneecaps anything we
do to win a game. Okay, He's coming into a
team that was at zero at the bottom. Right The
Lions had no history, they had no level of success.
It was the lines. It was an organization with a
losing mentality, with a losing record, and what he has
done is turned them from a three to thirteen team
into a nine to eight team, into a team that

(05:12):
went to the NFC Championship Game, into a team that
we thought was going to the super Bowl last year,
into a team that's now even a bigger super Bowl
favorite this year. And it's not that he's come in
and he's put in a system that he's had and
practiced throughout his life, either on offense or on defense.
But he's come in recognize the talent that he has
puts them in a position to succeed, has instilled a
culture and a discipline that the players have bought in,

(05:35):
the coordinators have bought in. He knows what kind of
talent we have, what they're working, they're in a position
to succeed. This is what works a lot. To be
a head coach, you don't need to be someone that says, hey,
you know, I have the new forty six defense, or
you know, hey, I'm Robert sala I'm coming in. I'm
gonna have seventeen different defensive linemen that I rotate, and
this is gonna help us. And this is how we're

(05:56):
gonna win games by pressuring the quarterback. Okay, great, there's
other things that go along with being a head coach,
and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. But the
culture setters and guys like Dan Campbell never really get
the opportunities the other guys do. They only get him
as a last resort. Well, who wants to come coach
the Lions or the Jets? All right, well, hey we
have a guy that's gonna come in. He's gonna set

(06:16):
a culture. He's gonna be able to do it. I
don't know, but nobody else wants the job, so he
may as well give him a shot. And this is
what happened with the Lions. No one thought Dan Campbell
was gonna succeed. No one thought he was going to
his first press conference, we all laughed at him. Now
look three years later, who's left. It's like, hey, I
want the next Dan Campbell to be my head coach.
I don't want the next Ben Johnson. I want the
next Dan Campbell because I know he's gonna be okay

(06:37):
being the CEO of this team, but it's gonna have
his fingerprints all over it. You don't need to be
a great OC or DC with This is my system,
and I'm taking this and I'm bringing players with me
and I'm gonna instill this with the team and try
to square peg round hole it. That doesn't always work,
but I can come in and set a culture and
I go I know the players I want. He knew
Jared Goff is a guy. He can be my quarterback.

(07:00):
Sean McVay couldn't get him out of town fast enough.
I gotta get rid of this guy. As great an
offensive coach as he is. You know how I feel
about Sean McVay. Couldn't get rid of of him fast enough. Now,
Jared Goff is working on a second huge contract and
he's gonna be the quarterback of the line sticks five
years and maybe you have one or two Super Bowls.
Like he knows, these are the guys that will work
that I know how to get the best out of them,
that will work in my culture. And he has figured

(07:22):
that out, man. And that's something with Dan Campbell we
don't talk about him enough. That is that you don't
just need to be the next new flavor. Sometimes you
get a chance just because nobody else wants that job,
or nobody else believes in you. But you know what,
I know. I get in there and I can do it.
And now hopefully Dan Campbell becomes a copycat guy where
other teams are going. I like what he did. He's
a guy I gotta go get Aaron Glenn might be

(07:43):
the first of those guys. Hey, coming from that culture.
We want that culture here with the Jets. Okay, this
is what we're gonna do. And clearly he's on the
way to doing that culture. But guys like Dan Campbell's
I want to see copycatch for Dan Campbell.

Speaker 2 (07:54):
Now, Yeah, the.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Curiosity, right is go back to that hiring process. When
he becomes the head coach of the l in twenty
twenty one, he'd spent several years working with Sean Payton
in New Orleans. Right, he was an assistant head coach,
tight ends coach after getting his interim opportunity with the Dolphins,
going all the way back to twenty fifteen, right second

(08:15):
year that you and I were doing NFL Talk together
here on the show and on the network and watching
his evolution. He goes and he learns, and he was
a guy that was in and around the squad learning
and Sean Payton one of those guys that you have
that if you're part of that tree, you're going to
get an extra look. Now, personality wise, former player, all

(08:40):
of those things that come to fruition and we watch
it with the lions of how he built that staff.

Speaker 2 (08:45):
That you have a lot of ex players on the staff.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Now it's not all just all right, let's go to
the analytics, as some teams have done and have gone
more than the outside process of putting staffs together. No, no, no, here,
you're you're talking about ex players and that communication, that coordination,
and a lot of guys wouldn't have gotten a second
year with the way that first year went right and

(09:10):
didn't translate to wins. Yeah, you had a lot of
you fought in a lot of games. That sometimes doesn't
get a guy a second year. But they stayed with
it second year, nine and eight, and then you've got
the run that they've been on. A lot of it
attributed to Glenn and Johnson. So for Dan Campbell's sake,
the fact that you're still seeing them going out and
bludging and maybe they've got the best roster sending notes

(09:34):
to all those folks in Baltimore right now. Maybe they've
got the best roster. I mean, because there were questions
with the offense. Forget forget about the coordinator change. Ragnaw
retired after the draft after free agency decided he wasn't
gonna go. How much does that usually tear teams apart?
Go back and ask the Cowboys.

Speaker 5 (09:54):
Can we say that it keep sounds like you're saying
when Ragnar retired, when Darragnar and his motorcycle were xcized
from the coordination of things there in Minnesota. No, when
rag now ow.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Gotta make sure, gotta make sure that I enunciate properly.

Speaker 2 (10:16):
But go back to it.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Remember when Travis Frederick got sick and had to leave
the Cowboys book what happened to their offensive line and
their coordination of just orchestrating their offense here, Yeah, you
had a Week one against the Packers, who we stipulate
are a pretty good defense. Overall. They've got some questions
to be answered after what went down with Cleveland this week.

(10:38):
But again we stipulate they've got a good defense. But
you expected better from Jordan Love and from that offensive production.
But that put that aside for a minute. That okay,
Week one aside. You watch them roll up a massive
effort against the Bears. Some of that everybody wanted their
piece of of, you know, Ben Johnson and the Bears. Fine,

(10:59):
But then today again the Ravens that everybody had heralded
and penciled in for at least an AFC title game,
they were did whatever they wanted offensively to big plays,
big chunk running plays, imposing their will with a couple
of very long, sustained drives and then on that fourth
down play, having the confidence and the guts to call

(11:19):
the pass play that they did.

Speaker 2 (11:22):
Would be able to get it on the run.

Speaker 1 (11:23):
And he tells you, listen, we're gonna do this. I'm
gonna do it. I can't not do it because then
the players don't believe in me.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
But I would.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Year you and I disagreed when it got into the playoffs,
but that's who Dan Campbell is.

Speaker 2 (11:36):
Long lived Dan Campbell. That's all I can say.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
Uh now, the flip side of it, right, appreciate that
for Dan Campbell. I have good news for the Ravens
before we have good news.

Speaker 2 (11:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
So next week, now we talked about it already, everybody's
looking ahead, Ravens Chiefs. Next week, somebody's gonna be one
and three right.

Speaker 2 (11:57):
On the road.

Speaker 1 (11:57):
Here's my good news. Ravens are gonna race the Chiefs
next week. Boat race the Chiefs is Derek Henry, get
a hold onto the ball. You see these two teams.
You see how good the Ravens offense is, right, you
see the Ravens offense the Chiefs. Now, compare what you
saw from the Ravens offense to the Chiefs offense. You're
gonna ooh yeah, Now you see where that big difference is. Right,

(12:17):
chunk plays, explosives, all of that's there.

Speaker 2 (12:20):
The chief still struggle. Right.

Speaker 1 (12:22):
Like I said, I'm stock up Mahomes, stock down on
the Chiefs this year. They had a very workman like
game against the Giants yesterday. The second half was terrific.
The first half was awful. But I told you, hey,
that's why I like the Giants getting seven. I said,
the Chiefs do a great job in letting lesser teams
stick around. And boy, if Russell Wilson could have just
stuck it in the end.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
Zone, just what near the end?

Speaker 1 (12:40):
But I talk about that giant sequence might be the
best comedy of the year. And win through the ball
in the tunnel. Come on, man, come on, that was
one of the funniest sequences. You put some yakety sacks
behind that, you got gold. But you see the difference
in the teams where the Ravens have real problems right
in which we're gonna get to but offense of Lee,
they're lighting it up. And the Chiefs still have problems

(13:04):
right now. Maybe they get Xavier Worthy back next week,
but they don't have Rashie Rice at least again, you know,
another few weeks after this. Travis Kelcey is just a guy.
At this point. They're not gonna run the football. They
still depend too much on mahomes and scrambling for first downs.
When you see the difference between these two teams, Okay,
yeah the Ravens have issues, but wow, they should win

(13:26):
this game easily over the Chiefs, who are still trying
to figure things out. Look, and it's just the rest
of the league is younger, more athletic, they're better the
Chiefs need. Look after this year, you can see they're
gonna need an overhaul production wise and talent wise. They're
gonna need that because yeah, they've they've a lot in
the same guys for a long time. They need something new.
They need big, bold strokes from Mahomes the back half

(13:46):
of Mahomes's prime. But the Ravens, they're still young, they
move up and down the field, They're still gonna be
able to do it. Defensively, they're an absolute mess. So
you could see some points right now. I like Mahomes
next week fantasy wise, obviously, but this should be a
game where which it's be thirty eight twenty four. We
should see the Ravens winning the game thirty eight twenty
four over the over the Chiefs next week. That's good
news for the Ravens. Should be able to run away

(14:07):
and hide big play explosives. As we said, Zay Flowers
didn't have a huge game, Bateman had a couple of
catches late and it opened up. Lamar Jackson ended up
with a near three hundred yard game. You like, hang
a star on it. The oh, by the way, touch
and counts for him, counts for Mark Andrews and everybody,
and it made it a game. Now the two point

(14:27):
conversion try, I want to win it in regulation. We
talked about that with Jason Cole earlier, just how poorly
your defense had played throughout the night. But here you
get a little bit of a breather because you don't
have much of a run game at all. When you
look at the Kansas City Chiefs and thus far, the
the big plays have been out there, they just haven't

(14:48):
made them. Three straight weeks of Hey, there's a deep ball,
It's like he's open. What what's going on with our
timing here?

Speaker 6 (14:56):
Right?

Speaker 2 (14:57):
I mean you've seen you've seen that.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
Week after we have there been chances And go back
to the Kelsey plays of week one and week two
of like those are touchdowns every year past that. That's
an easy pitch and catch. Like, what's going on with
the timing, the effort? Uh and the sequencing there in
the red zone? So I expect. I'm just curious. It's
a home game. Does that matter anymore? Erarahead? Does a

(15:23):
home game matter? It matters to a point, but not
what you're gonna lose by fourteen? Right, I mean, just
look at what you see. You see on the field.
The Ravens the first three weeks, the Chiefs the first
three weeks. You tell me how that came? Both one
and two. Exit out about a Fresco exit swelling dome.

(15:44):
Jason Smith Mike Harman live from the Fox Sports Radio
studios coming up. So that's a good news for the Ravens.
Point do we have not great news coming up? You

Yeah, you blober listen m and me.

Speaker 4 (17:23):
Well you know what it's called over promise. You should

Speaker 3 (18:03):
The snap clean the placement down, it's blocked.

Speaker 8 (18:06):
Let's listen midfield, it's still doing. Will McDonald Derry Coles
to the twenty.

Speaker 2 (18:12):
Ter Raids, go find that's a Jack touchdown. That's a
Jet touchdown.

Speaker 8 (18:19):
Off of the blockfield goal. We're tied with one forty
nine to go. Unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (18:27):
Bob was shooing everybody, sounds a lot different doing Jets
games and he does college football on Saturday. Jacked up
a buddy, I mean you did Syracuse Clemson and I uh.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
So, wait, why are we playing this song? And you
hear the Jets say, okay, so hurrah, this is why
we can't have nice things.

Speaker 1 (18:51):
The Jets block the field goal that the Bucks were
attempting with about a minute fifty left to go, and
it was going to clinch the game. Oh well, get
running back for a touchdown, take the lead. Bob was
Shoosin's going crazy, I'm going crazy, and Aaron Glenn, Jets
head coach crazy on the sideline dancing. It went viral
and then I don't know who it was, did a

(19:12):
great job today putting Aaron Glenn's reaction to earth Wind
and Fire because this happened on the twenty first of
sept Yeah, I know, it's SYNCD up beautiful and when
it kicks in with the you know, when it kicks
in with the with the vocals and Aaron Glenn's dance like,
it's really funny.

Speaker 2 (19:29):
Man, it's really funny, and it gave me a laugh.

Speaker 1 (19:32):
But I needed one today because honestly, and this is where,
you know, is that when that happened in the game,
like I was, I'm so excited, like, oh my god,
this is everything at Aaron Glenn has been preaching the
Jets coming back in this game, that that energy all right,
back up, quarterback, everything else, it's gonna go. And I'm

(19:54):
watching this and I'm seeing Aaron Glenn party on the
sideline during this play, and all I'm thinking, you know
because I've seen a Jet game in the course of
my fifty plus years on this earth, and I said
to myself, there's a minute fifty left and Baker Mayfield's
getting the football. Game ain't over, But apparently the Jets
think it is. Like I understand the players. I understand

(20:15):
celebrating a big play, big deal.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
I get it.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
But dude, you're the head coach man set the tone.
I get you're excited, but like, there's a minute. There's
a minute fifty left and all they need is a
field goal. And they've done a pretty good job today
driving up and down the field against the defense and getting.

Speaker 2 (20:32):
What Mike Harmon field goal. Yes, they were four field
goals in the game. They had that one block.

Speaker 1 (20:37):
Well, that means that they Yeah, And that's what I'm
thinking the entire time is the Jets. I feel like
they feel like this game is over right, And what
happens the kickoff? They get thirty one yard return on it.
When you don't get a three, you don't give the
other team a thirty one yard return of the kickoff
like on the sideline. I get that you want to
be excited. I watched Robert sala be the excited guy
in the sideline when things are going well, and then

(20:57):
watched him pout and and and and staring there with
his head down and things weren't going well. Your head
coach needs to set the tone. And I get the
you're excited. Aaron Glenn's a fiery guy, But dude, there
is a lot of time left and you're giving the
ball back to make Baker Mayfield. We talked about him
last Monday. We had a big take to win viral
last week on Mayfield. He's one of the top seven

(21:17):
quarterbacks in the NFL, and he gives me really big
Brady vibes at this point in his career. Of in
the final two minutes, Mayfield's gonna get his team down
the field, right Brady and Mahomes, No matter how much
time there's left on the clock, you know they're gonna
get their teams down there.

Speaker 2 (21:34):
Whatever.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
They need a touchdown, they're getting down need a field goal,
They're getting down there. This is how good Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Is right now.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
He succeeds at these in these situations so well to
the point where I'm like, I don't know that there's
anybody else I want driving my team down the field
with two minutes left to go. Then Baker Mayfield, because
I know he's gonna get them down there. Maybe Josh Allen,
but you taught Bayfield at the top of that list,
and all they need is a field goal, and I
want it was easy for Mayfield. There was nothing where

(22:02):
I felt, boy, he really made that big throw this day.
They were in a third and twenty five where they
sacked him, or it was a fourth down play. He
had to go make a big fourth down clutch run
like he had against the Falcons on Monday night last week.

Speaker 2 (22:15):
It was easy. It was easy.

Speaker 1 (22:17):
They got down to the three yard like kick the
field goal to win the game, and with three seconds
left to win the game. And all I'm saying the
whole time is the game isn't over, and the Jets
feel like the game is over. And they played and
the attitude felt like the game was over. And I'm
watching Aaron Glenn dance. I'm like, dude, come on, man,
let the guys dad. You gotta make sure there again
a minute fifty if they return that for a touchdown

(22:40):
and there's three seconds left and all have to do
is execute the kickoff and there are a one play
left and say, helm all right, I get it, man,
I get your partying because that's where it is. Or
even if there's ten seconds left, there's a minute fifty
the Bucks have no the time is not an issue.
They just need a field goal and they've been kicking
field goals. But I get you just blocked it. But
they've been kicking field goals pretty well. And it was
hot knife threw butter down the field. And as soon

(23:02):
as that get I said, the Jets are gonna lose
this game twenty nine to twenty seven. Like that's me
being Jets fatalist, but it's also me being realistic that
I know the guy they're giving the football to is
Major Brady Vibes in Baker Mayfield. And I know how
we're gonna react coming off this because when the head
coach is jumping up and down, Hey, the game's overgat
everybody's it's a big party on the Jets sideline right now,

(23:23):
right I party. Bob was using, should party, everybody should party.
You have to finish business, right, you gotta get that win. No, no, no,
And I'm sure the Bucks are saying we got Look
at them, look at them jumping up and down like
lunatics on the sideline. We got this, and they got it,
and they moved right down the field. And there was
at no point did I feel like, Oh, the Jets
are gonna do something good here, They're gonna do something

(23:44):
good here, and they're gonna they're gonna stop the Bucks,
They're gonna get a turn over that. Nope, they're gonna
find a way because hey, they just feel like the
game is done and not like Mayfield wouldn't have done
it anyway, because, like I said, Major Brady vibes from him.
He doesn't mind throwing the football short. We're given the
get wall to to Bucky Irving in space. If I
can't go downfield, I'm not I'm gonna take what the

(24:04):
defense gives me. And that's really what his genius has been.
I'm not gonna try to force the ball in the
place that doesn't need to go. I can chew up
the clock and go down the field. I have all
kinds of time. He could have done it anyway, But
just the fact that the Jets mentally, I felt like
they weren't even in the right place for that. So
the big highlight of the week, this big block kick
return for touch. Well, the goodness, all of a sudden,
Baker Mayfield, the legend of Mayfield continues another week, and

(24:26):
of the comfort behind win because the Jets said, oh yeah,
the game's over. Well, I mean, look, you at least
take some solace in the fact that the Eagles did
block a kick that they returned for a touchdown and
a and a win.

Speaker 6 (24:38):
So.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
They didn't need to block, they didn't need to return
for touch But we're gonna return anyway did because we're
because it's a three and a half point spread, We're
gonna run this all the way back. We have no
confirmation that they knew what the point spread was in
that situation. Now, that takes a lot of the oxygen
away from your guys. Now, the fact that it was
the twenty first of September and you're able to sync

(25:01):
up the song and the celebration and all of that chaos.
But thirty one yard kickoff return, as you say, seven
plays forty eight yards a minute forty nine And for
Baker Mayfield, we had it Monday, We talked about it
just the and it's got to hurt you a little
more because it's Todd Bowles. Now, of course, Baker Mayfield
went and said blank you, blank you, and blank you

(25:24):
to everybody he could, including Wilkes, including Hassan Reddick.

Speaker 2 (25:30):
He just started naming guys.

Speaker 1 (25:31):
You were affiliated with the Jets at any point in
the time, He's going after you. And so for Baker Mayfield, yeah,
it's another pelt on the wall, right, another wedding. Pick
your animal of choice, that is your hunting game. So ibuka, no,

(25:53):
Mike Evans, he's off the chess board here, Sterling Shepherd
goes in and makes plays. You're finding whomever. Bucky Irving
has his run. But for for Baker Mayfield, it's just
been an impressive run. For Todd Bowles getting back at
the former squad legs guys, that's all got to feel good.

(26:16):
Two minute drill. He is one of those guys. I mean,
how many do you have that you trust? No, I know,
I know, that's amazing. Congratulations Baker Mayfield. Congratulations. Goes after
your Jets. You got sometimes you got to have those
lessons learned. Yeah, no, right, you could be building a culture, dude.

Speaker 2 (26:33):
I've been learning lesson. You know how many years I've
been learning lesson? Now? Come on, I know what time
it is my thirty fifth year of grad school. Eventually,
you gotta get out in the real world. No, no, no, no,
one more year, one more. Ye're gonna take a gap year,
one more year. I need to learn less.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
You're Will Ferrell and old school. Now you're the DJ
on the radio stage. Jason Mason returns. But but for
for the Jets, like, the game's not over right, you
still have to finish the job. You would think instant tutionally,
you've had enough of those instances that it's there. It's
in the walls, it permeates the locker room. But no,

(27:06):
it's a new regime and they had their comeupp And
as bad as it was for the Jets, what team
was it great for? That's coming up in ninety seconds,
But first special delivery. Steve de Saga has what's trending
right now in the wide world of sports, including uh
an update on the money he bet on tonight, Savannah
Bananas game.

Speaker 6 (27:27):
I bet that a really tall guy would pitch.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
Yeah, God, you won that bet that bet, guys.

Speaker 4 (27:33):
Yes.

Speaker 6 (27:33):
By the way, there are six playoff spots in the

For Jamiir gibbs And David. Montgomery we've had through three games,
here three offensive great, performances thirty points tonight For, baltimore

(29:49):

Great, yeah somebody will pay the twenty five thousand if
you can start at.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
Quarterback, now.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
Yeah they might need right, now they. Might they Might
Ricky collins then. Me that's how it's gonna Go. Ricky thank, You,
Steve SO i do want to you, know not a
great week for, me but a phenomenal week for, you
Because Caleb williams and The bears did exactly WHAT i.

Speaker 2 (32:44):
Said you Beat. CLEMSON i know it was, great but
we lost me dabble.

Speaker 1 (32:49):
Cry, YEAH i, know but we are quarterback to number
one passer in the country and we tore his.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Achilles he's done for the.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
Year you want to buy some cards of him pictured
as a member of The Notre dame fighting.

Speaker 2 (32:59):
Next he'll be, Fine he'll be.

Speaker 1 (33:00):
Fine BUT i told you last, Week Caleb williams number
one fantasy. Quarterback this, week The cowboys.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Can do nothing to slow him.

Speaker 1 (33:08):
Down the defensive line can't get to terrible and there
then the defensive backfield is absolutely. Off we told you last.
Hour there's no exit for The. Cowbots it's just gonna
be an awful season on and off the field for.
Them in in uh in six, WEEKS.

Speaker 2 (33:21):
I can't even. Remember they're gonna be fun to, Watch
but what's? Real what's? Ai Jerry? Jones that's what we're
gonna be asking in a couple of.

Speaker 1 (33:27):
Weeks Caleb williams four. Touchdowns number One fantasy quarterback of the.
Week he did finish down point one ahead of ca
And Jalen hurts and two and two point one points
ahead Of Lamar. Jackson he's gonna be, Streaky, okay that
that's That's Caleb. Williams but he's not gonna be someone, That,
hey here's a week where throw for two hundred yards

(33:48):
in a.

Speaker 2 (33:48):
Touchdown not a lot of.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Offense, no he's gonna have weeks of four, touchdowns steering yards,
passing but he's also gonna have bad. Weeks everybody was
fine When Brett farv had games like. That this is
gonna happen young and he was the chosen. One Caleb
willilliams has had three weeks in THE nfl that twenty
five teams would, SAY i would take those first three
weeks from my. Quarterback right, NOW i would change out
my quarterback for the three games he. Has he's moving the,

(34:10):
ball he's moving the team up and down the. Field
they should be two and.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
One it's not his.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
Fault they stopped playing after they got the seventeen to
six Lead week one against The Minnesota. Vikings Caleb williams is.
Fine he's with the right head. Coach he's with the
right guy to get the best out of. Him, again
we talked about stock up stock. DOWN i am stuck
up On Caleb williams And Ben. Johnson this is exactly
what he. Needs he's Gonna he's on a superstar. Path
he has flashed many. Times Caleb williams is. Fine i'm

(34:37):
The Caleb williams. WHISPER i told you gonna paint my.
Nails i'm gonna have dinner with my. Mom i'm gonna
gonna put messages all over. Me i'm gonna do all
this stuff right Because i'm The Caleb williams. Whisper he is.
Fine he is on path to being a star in THE. Nfl,
Yeah rome.

Speaker 2 (34:51):
Wasn't built in the.

Speaker 1 (34:52):
Day, oh by the, way very, nice but the point
being that it's a longer. Proba there'll be some, wins
and obviously you take advantage of A cowboys squad that
defensively they're. Terrible, Sorry eberflus is wearing. It he's not
the main. Problem you don't have, Players, yeah you just.

(35:14):
Don't he doesn't. Help you could have just stopped right
afterble oh, yeah, yeah, YEAH i, mean if his name
is associated with.

Speaker 2 (35:21):
Things some say this was the best effort he ever
made for The. Bears you finally Turned Caleb williams into a.
Star that's.

Speaker 1 (35:29):
It but you look At Caleb, williams it's it's gonna
be a growth. Process he And Ben johnson and, look
even the most venerable coaches are still making massive blunders
week after. WEEK i mean we've we've asked lots of
questions of the guys that have have long have plenty of,

(35:50):
skins skin in the, game, right had been.

Speaker 2 (35:53):
Around, uh the coaching world a.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
While For Ben, JOHNSON i like the the fire he's
got that there's even calling himself to task many at.
Times but For Caleb, williams asking him to do a
lot of things he hadn't done, before playing and timing.
Offense and we've talked about this a, lot and for this,
week Clean Jersey, club zero sacks, man zero sacks. Everything

(36:21):
now you could be an indictment of what The cowboys
are and sure they, stink but also for The bear
side of, things it's a work in progress and you
have to like where you're.

Speaker 2 (36:29):
At he's the number three fantasy.

Speaker 1 (36:31):
Quarterback, yeah five weeks exit assistency exit how about A
fresca exit swollen dome coming up? Next you want a
hot take coming off Of Monday night Football? Lions, oh
we got one for.

Speaker 2 (36:42):
You fire them. All that's Next jason And Mike.

Speaker 3 (36:44):
Fox be sure to catch live editions Of The Jason
Smith show With mike harmon weekdays at ten Pm, eastern
seven Pm pacific On Fox Sports radio and The iHeartRadio.

Speaker 2 (36:55):
App so you want a hot take coming off of
The lions win The ravens that The lions are still pretty?
Good line's still pretty? Good not? Hot?

Speaker 1 (37:04):
Okay John harbaugh coaching for his job the rest of the. Season,
ooh you've got them on. Notice, look all we heard
coming into this season was how talented This ravens roster? Is,
right every day someone told, me most Talented ravens Roster
i've ever? Seen, yeah, okay sometimes twice a. Day the

(37:25):
most Talented ravens roster we've ever? Seen more than two
thousand rave, okay o, great most Talented ravens. Roight all
my friends In baltimore radio are losing their. Minds, yeah
because the remember The orioles were supposed to be?

Speaker 2 (37:36):
Good, sure, yeah, yeah, yeah they. Were it's been a long.

Speaker 1 (37:40):
Year it's got to like you with your nets to The.
Jets Baltimore bullets are supposed to be good, too, sure, sure,
sure but like everything was supposed to be coming Up
baltimore this, year and right now they're wringing their.

Speaker 2 (37:52):
Hands they are one and.

Speaker 1 (37:54):
Two their defense is absolutely, awful, right it's absolutely. Awful
the fact that And Jason cole made a great point
with us earlier in the show that they decided to
go for two when they got down thirty eight to
thirty because they, said, well if we get the football,
back we want to score a touchdown and win this.
Game we can't go to. Overtime we can't stop The Detroit.
Lions we can't Stop there's absolutely no trust to the.

(38:16):
Defense It's Rokwan smith and a bunch of. Guys, now
The lions are great, offense, Right lions are great.

Speaker 2 (38:21):
Offense we know. This but The.

Speaker 1 (38:23):
Ravens defense is absolutely. Terrible forty one points to The,
bills and even Even week two wasn't, great but they.
Wanted they got out gained by over one hundred. Yards
and it's not just hey they're they're, up, yeah you,
Know cleveland's moving the. Ball, no they moved the. Ball
they just kept shooting themselves in The yeah it was
it was not you saw forty one, seventeen but it
was a. Lot it's a lot different. Game their defense is.

(38:44):
Awful if they have a backsliding, year, okay it's gonna
Mean John harbaugh's job because no one's going to be
able to take a year Of wait a, minute this
team was supposed to be so good and now look
at where we. Are this team would need. Reset it's. Clearly,
look you got the back half Of Lamar jackson's prime coming.

(39:04):
Up he's probably gonna other great five or six years,
coming you know after, this and something's gotta. Change the
two common bonds of The ravens not getting far enough
every year Are Lamar jackson And John. Harbaugh, Clearly Lamar
jackson's the. Guy guy's a first Ballot hall Of. Famer
he's gonna. Stay harbor is gonna be the guy because

(39:26):
there's gonna need to be some sort of responsibility laid
at somebody's feet for this season going so. Badly if
this season in a year where you should run away
with the with THE Afc, north because it's that. Bad
if they stumble and look they got The chiefs next, Week,
right somebody's going to one and. Three John harbo is
gonna get fired because it's gonna. Be, okay we're no

(39:47):
longer that team where every year we're in THE Afc divisional,
ROUND Afc. Championship it's hard to replace a coach when
you get to that. Level but when you have a
season where clearly you need entirely new defense and you're
gonna need new offensive weapons at certain, Points Dereck henry's
now getting older and fumbling the football once a.

Speaker 2 (40:04):
Week you need big. Change Is John harbo the? Guy
or do you need to go to a new.

Speaker 1 (40:08):
Coach, no you're gonna go to a new coach that
needs to bring in something different that's gonna get you
back to where you were and over the. Top he
is coaching for his job the rest of this.

Speaker 2 (40:17):
Year that's the.

Speaker 1 (40:17):
Curiosity do we have The Spider man meme Of harbaugh
And tomlin staring.

Speaker 2 (40:21):
At him at each Other Spider, man.

Speaker 1 (40:23):
And will they actually make that move or will they
do a bunch of shuffling? Underneath it's this is gonna
be it's too. Big it would be too big of
a of a failure to, say, oh, well let's get
back at him next year with a new coordinator or. Two,
no it's gonna be. Okay we've watched us fail for
the last few, years not get far, enough.

Speaker 2 (40:43):
Somewhat right or. Wrong harbo is gonna be the guy
to say.

Speaker 1 (40:46):
Okay he's the, one he's the common, bond he's been
the head, coach he's the reason why we. Am we
need somebody, new and it's it's gonna be too much
of an avalanche going in that direction of we need somebody,
new especially when we need to start. Over it's so
many different, positions so.

Speaker 2 (40:59):
Some of it's the.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
Same we keep saying In, pittsburgh it's been a long
time SINCE i won That Super. Bowl, yeah and this
year's a big one For tomlin. Too with, THAT i
know he got the, extension but still this year's. Big With,
rogers he's the.

Speaker 2 (41:09):
Guy, no he's the.

Speaker 1 (41:10):
Guy you've had your guys, now you've picked out your
quarterbacks last. Year didn't work out last year so far
too and. One But i'm telling you how it's gonna
go the rest of this. Year rodgers is gonna fall
off at some point middle of the. Season that's.

Speaker 2 (41:22):
Good i've seen. It it's gonna.

Speaker 1 (41:23):
Happen but but For, harbaugh it's gonna be if they
don't get back and win this, division that's gonna be
it for, Him like he's done chaos theory And Adam
gase will be coaching this to h what are you?
Doing just kind of bridge too far man For Mike Im.
