Speaker 1 (00:29):
Greetings, Welcome inside final hour Tonight's show, The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Harmon, Live from the
Fox Sports Radio Studios. A big hour of NBA breakdown. Yes,
the Knicks beat the Pistons. Moving on, Go New York Go,
New York Go.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
That's like three hours ago already.

Speaker 4 (00:50):
Yeah, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (00:51):
I mean, it was more exciting than the Clippers and
the Nuggets, although the Nuggets did make.

Speaker 4 (00:55):
It close at the oh hey hey heyes, they.

Speaker 1 (00:57):
Missed a lot of shots in the final minute, but
made it close to the end at.

Speaker 5 (01:00):
Least some tough sequences. There were several runout opportunities. I
wish you would have had a live camera on Monty
Blagos because it was highly entertaining, living and dying with
every possession, every big Norman Powells shot, every big James
Harden shot, all of that. Uh, and then Zubach with
the defense, and and really frustrating Nikolai jokin So and
you know, fun down the stretch exactly.

Speaker 3 (01:22):
Pow desert power pot to punch your face.

Speaker 4 (01:32):
I didn't do it. You guys wanted to do it.

Speaker 3 (01:35):
Nothing you can do about it either you.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
Say that to my face. Say that to my face.
You out of the playoffs?

Speaker 5 (01:42):
Fan?

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Whoa you have to get all personal. God, that was
That was a whole other level of violence, right. I
gotta say I'm not I'm not show violence kidness.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
I'm not good at quoting step brothers. I gotta say
I'm not that that's not watching.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
Bill has Mor.

Speaker 4 (02:02):
I've seen it. I know it's hey this, hey touch
my drum kit. This will not stand man. Sorry, we're
watching by.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
Stage from Why Dragon?

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Are there? Are there still cops shows on?

Speaker 6 (02:22):
Like?

Speaker 4 (02:22):
Is that still on? Oh?

Speaker 3 (02:23):
You can find them?

Speaker 4 (02:25):
Really? I thought they were.

Speaker 1 (02:28):
I thought they were, Like that wasn't on anymore? Like, hey,
we're stop making it?

Speaker 4 (02:30):
Did we just become best friends? Yeah? I mean I
didn't think we had. It was anymore.

Speaker 5 (02:34):
I really think we can just find that in our
normal social media feeds anymore.

Speaker 3 (02:39):
So I don't really even think you need.

Speaker 5 (02:40):
The production because people have, uh, you know, cameras on
their phones, right, and they're they're rolling all the time.

Speaker 3 (02:48):
Yeah, it's actually disrespectful. You don't like that movie, but
it makes perfect sense.

Speaker 4 (02:54):
I didn't say I didn't like it. I said I'm
not good at quoting it.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
We only play eighties. You call Mike Carman your best friend,
but you don't watch that movie about best friends.

Speaker 1 (03:03):
I watched the movie best Friends with Burt Reynolds and
Goldie Hawn, watch a mass I can quote that movie
for you.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Really, what poem was that?

Speaker 4 (03:12):
Are you still doing step Brothers? We're still doing step Brothers.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
Wish had a miniature version of you I could put
inside of me, feel moving around in there.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
Okay, okay, but okay, stop, both of you stop because
I don't know now if you're quoting it, you're just
making stuff up.

Speaker 4 (03:26):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (03:29):
Gotta listen to the whole shoe damn night because I
actually had a good cop story for you.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
What you want good yeah story? Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:37):
So this is I'm going back now, like This is
like you know, in the in the in the mid
to late nineties, right when Fox sports Net first started
to compete with ESPN, Right, a bunch of people, a
bunch of us who worked at ESPN wanted to move
out to La and and and you know, start our
lives whatever it was. So he went to work for
Fox sports Net, which is now Fox Sports one. That's

(03:59):
that was a genus to that. So we go out
and you know, we had gear, like, we had Fox
sports Net hats, and Fox sports Net was a bad
name because people thought it had something to do with
the Internet, and it's like, why would we do that,
why would you call it fox sports Net when the
Internet was just coming up? So we went I remember
watching Cops once. This is like in nineteen ninety eight.
I want to say some we're going back a long way,

(04:20):
and they were like on Long Islander somewhere, and they
busted a guy and he was wearing a Fox sports
Net hat.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
But we made it.

Speaker 1 (04:29):
We've made it, Okay, we've made it. Hopefully it was
not an employee. No, the guy got a Fox Sports
as we made it. Look at us for a car ride,
showed up at a remote and got a free hat.
It's gonna work, man, It's gonna work. And I forget
what they busted. I have no idea what it was,
but I'm like, hey, hey, people know who we are.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
Now this is great.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
All right, that's fantastic. That's the way to break through.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
Yeah, you know.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
And I thought we were gonna break through, all right,
second second story, they'll get bit tedt the Nbay. I
thought we were going to break through in the super
Bowl because the uh we went to the Super Bowl
and the first super Bowl we have when Fox Sports
that started was the Packers and the Patriots, right, Brett
Farr super Bowl bledsoe. Desmond Howard's the MVP. And going
into the going into the meeting, we're all, we're all

(05:20):
this back when I'm back. I'm there as a as
a producer. And after the Super Bowl, we're like, okay,
this could be great. And our boss said, hey, Sean Jones,
who plays for the Packers, he's going to retire. And
they struck a they struck inn a green where he
would retire on our air after the Super Bowl and
be like, wow, that's really cool, Like he's going to
retire on on air, Like that's a great thing. Sean
Jones really good defensive lineman for a long time in

(05:42):
the NFL. So like, hey, we got it right. So
we so our programming is doing really well. Our stuff
is getting a lot of attention. Right, We're doing really
at Super Bowl like wow, everyone's like, wow, this is
gonna be great. And then if I remember his words correctly,
when after the game was over, you know our air
Fox sports Net is running the post game and everything,
and h if someone said so, Sean, is this it

(06:02):
for you?

Speaker 3 (06:03):
You know what?

Speaker 4 (06:03):
And he goes, I don't know. I'm having so much
fun at might try it one more year. We were like,
come on.

Speaker 5 (06:10):
Man, you couldn't even give me a Lebron James and
no lie about your future.

Speaker 3 (06:16):
Come on, man, change your mind? What are you doing
to us?

Speaker 4 (06:21):
I might stick around one more year? Oh man? Really?

Speaker 6 (06:24):
Uh?

Speaker 5 (06:25):
Who is the producer that pissed him off to get
him to change his answer so that he could nod
and wink at the camera.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
I just think he got excited after winning the Super Bowl.
We were like, but no, no, no, that's not the answer.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
They should have cut the mic and said no, remember
you said you were retired.

Speaker 4 (06:40):
Let's do it again, right, do it again? So Sean,
is this it for you all right?

Speaker 8 (06:43):
Now?

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Say now give your answer?

Speaker 3 (06:44):
When I nod, You're in my head. You hit it.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
You could always take it back.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Uh So, speaking of the NBA, Sime will more on
Jalen Brunson's night coming up in a few minutes. But
a big day today when we wave goodbye to the Lakers,
they decide we're gonna have all our postseason stuff now.
We're not gonna wait two days and guys coming clean
out there locking no.

Speaker 4 (07:06):
Get it all done now, ye band job dwink is
gonna talk. We're done. We're doing it today.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
We're doing it ten hours after so everybody can go
like the end of summer camp, final day, everybody's out
by ten thirty, right, no stragglers by the time twelve
o'clock comes around. If you're not gone, you're stuck here
at this camp with a mass killer who lives in
the woods. So one of the biggest things that JJ
Reddick had to say, and he took a lot of
ownership for losing. I said, there's things I need to

(07:32):
do better. I know I'm going to improve. But he
had one pointed message for the team going into the offseason,
which really sounds like a pointed message towards one player. Specifically,
listen to JJ Redick, where's JJ Redick?

Speaker 8 (07:48):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Because tys are too busy playing the.

Speaker 3 (07:55):
You're doing a good job of emulating.

Speaker 4 (07:58):
The horn.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
JJ Reddick said, specifically, this is a team that has
to quote get in championship shape next season.

Speaker 4 (08:11):
Quote.

Speaker 1 (08:11):
I'll start with the off season and the work that's
required in an off season to be in championship shape.
We have a ways to go as a roster. Certainly
individuals that were in phenomenal shape. There are certainly other
ones that could have been in better shape. That's where
my mind goes immediately. We have to get in championship shape.
So he said championship shape like eight times in like
a ten second SoundBite there.

Speaker 4 (08:34):
That's almost like to say.

Speaker 3 (08:36):
The other dude the other day when he kept using
the B word.

Speaker 1 (08:39):
Yeah, I'm just gonna say it over and over and
over again. All right here, I believe we have JJ Reddick.

Speaker 8 (08:43):
Now, I'll start with the off season and the work
that's required in an off season to be in championship shape.
Championship and you know, we have a to go as
a roster, and certainly there are individuals that were in

(09:04):
phenomenal shape phenomena. There's certainly other ones that could have
been in better shape, better shape. That's where my mind
goes immediately, is you know, we have to get in championship.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Shape, championship shape.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
There you go shape shape, shape, shape or shapes for
shapes right there. Obviously he's talking about Luka Doncic without
calling out Luka Doncic. Right, But here's where, Isaac, when
you think I'm gonna zag right, all the Lakers this
season was an absolute failure for them, from where they
were at the deadline, getting Luca rising up through the
standings to finishing third and to lose like this where

(09:37):
they were in shape, their stamina was in question, He
made mistakes as a head coach, and the team still
came out unmotivated without a sense of urgency way too often. Right,
That's what makes this season a failure for the Lakers.
But here's my silver lining. I have no doubt that
the next time we see Luka Doncic on a court,

(09:58):
maybe we get some quick video of him. I'll get
this in the offseasons, shape of his line when we
see him on the court in the fall when when
he means it, he's his body's gonna look different. It
will be more sculpted, his stamina will be better, he
will be stronger, and he will be better at the
end of games. Because he didn't have to do that
with Dallas because he ran things. It was, Hey, I

(10:19):
don't have to get in shape. I'm twenty five years old.

Speaker 4 (10:21):
I don't care. They tend to take.

Speaker 1 (10:24):
Beer away from him in the locker room after the
Western Conference Finals last year. He ran things in Dallas.
Dallas wakes him up with the trade to the Lakers.
Why does Dallas trade him because they didn't want to
give him three hundred and fifty million dollars an extension
he is eligible for because the guy follows up the
finals with not being in shape and getting hurt again.

Speaker 4 (10:42):
They were done. They didn't want to give him all
that money.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
Not thinking he's going to take care of his body
because now he's getting a little bit older and you
got to get into that mode of I gotta take
care of my body, right. Athletes got to do that
when you get into your mid to late twenties. So Dad,
he was never gonna do it because he didn't have to.
But now you get traded, you get caught on it.
It's very public of an issue with the Lakers. They
didn't go crazy with it now because it was let's

(11:06):
get him in here, let's get him liking what's going on.
Let's get him wanting to stay. And I'm telling you
after he says, I'm paying to have the Kobe Bryant
mural redone that was defaced, because I want, you know,
I want to do this for the fans. He wants
to stay, right, he wants to be a Laker. Now
he has bought it. Like in the words of Kobe,
you put on that purple and gold armor and things
just get a little different. Right, So I know he

(11:27):
wants to stay, but he knows he's got to give
a little bit.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
The other way.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
The Lakers aren't going to give him a new contract
now he still has another year or two left on
his deal that they don't have to pay him yet
they want to. They want to give him money. They
wanted to be the future reason the top three players
in the NBA. But he knows if he wants that.
And also because now he's been put on notice, he's
going to do it.

Speaker 4 (11:48):
And I will be the.

Speaker 1 (11:49):
Most surprised guy in the world if we see Luca
looking the same, the same stamina, issues, the same everything
next year. He knows he is on notice to make
this happen. And I have no doubt. Hey, I'm seeing this.
It's a wake up call for me. He will be sculpted,
he will have stamina, he will be stronger at the
end of games.

Speaker 4 (12:07):
He will be faster.

Speaker 1 (12:08):
He'll be dribbling past guys instead of trying to labor
his way past and drawing a foul in the backcourt.
It'll be a different Luca Dotsch in the fall.

Speaker 3 (12:16):
You just described him as the six million dollar man,
which is celebrated the eighty sixth birthday of Lee Majors
the other day.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
How about that.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Same birthday as a Margaret. How crazy is that?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Same exact day, same day, same exact day.

Speaker 3 (12:29):
No, no, No, they're like two years apart. Oh she's eighty four,
he's eighty six. Okay, but either way.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
Anyway, all that to say, I do like your theory
about Luca and getting in shape.

Speaker 3 (12:40):
I think it goes back to a lot of what
we talked about.

Speaker 5 (12:43):
And I'm going to switch sports for a second and
bring in Kyler Murray and you can go down the
list of guys where it's always just come easy.

Speaker 4 (12:50):
Right.

Speaker 5 (12:51):
You're the best athlete at your high school, into college,
you go and do great things. Kyler Murray a top
pick in baseball, top pick overall in the And so
the changing your work habits, changing your diet, changing your
sleep schedules, and what you're doing within your off time,
you haven't had to do it, so I start.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
Now, you're Luka Dncis. You just got to the finals.

Speaker 5 (13:14):
Now you got I kind of embarrassed by dude literally
taking your beer and then he held it. But it's
in front of your dad who you were hanging out with.
You know, gonna have that beer. But for Luka Doncis,
he's got one more year before you get to the
player option. You got Lebron with his player option and
no trade clause to navigate as well. But all of

(13:36):
it to say for Luca, you know, penny wise, pound foolish.
See what I did there for the Mavericks because they
lost their ass, they would have paid him an extra
one hundred million dollars. But they're all reports are they're
gonna lose several hundred million dollars based on all the
advertising that's gone away. I think I would have been
okay with him playing sixty five games a year.

Speaker 3 (13:57):
To keep those contracts.

Speaker 2 (13:59):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
It seemed like good business to me.

Speaker 5 (14:01):
But for Luka Dancic, yeah, it's you want to flip
the script on the narrative that's now been written and
his defense, which was always an issue, has now been
called out on a whole other level from this series. Right,
people going back and checking the Suppruder film, All right,
can we credit those two against Luca and his defensive lap. Yeah,
throw that on there, and the numbers are adding up

(14:22):
like the deficit. I mean, it's just getting up up
there really fast. But for him, yeah, it's a recommittal.
For JJ Reddick, it's got a lot of looking in
the mirror for They all called out Rob Polinka, right,
Lebron did it passive, aggressively, Reddick did it kind of
talking about you know, a limitations here, and remember you're

(14:44):
not playing for regular seasons. If you're a Laker or
Laker fans, you have to finish third every year. Nobody
gives a damn you're playing if you're not in the
Western Conference final at a.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Minimum, the season's a bust. So watching this iteration collapse
and before a game, guy's saying, yeah, he's not getting
off the bench. Jackson Hayes, Wow, that's part of the strategy. Nice,
nice coach. I mean all of that.

Speaker 5 (15:11):
You were undermanned. Dalton Ganneck disappeared after the trade issue. Defensively,
he's worse than Luca. So you've got a lot of
questions that you need to answer. But yes, and a
couple extra wind sprints will fix it all.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
JJ exit out about a Fresca exit swollen dome, Jason Smith,
Mike Harmon live from the Fox Sports Radio studios. So
I've tried, Luca will be a he will look like
a different.

Speaker 4 (15:35):
Dude this fall.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Coming up next, we'll have more on Jalen Brunson's heroics
and the latest twist in the football soap opera that
shows no signs of letting up. That's next right here,
this is Fox Sports Radio pow. Well, you know forty's
been a big number tonight. Why because Jalen Brunson went
for forty is the Knicks knocked out the Pistons. But

(15:57):
it's also big because that's how many powers Mike and
I have lost so far on PhD weight loss in
the last three months, and we're still going. Men lose
an average of three to five pounds a week, women
two to three pounds. Even my hat size is down
and I got a big marshmallowhead. Now I'm wearing smaller
hats like Wow, seven and five eighths. That's great. I
gotta get all new hats now. You'll drop big pounds.

(16:20):
The first week Mike and I each lost over seven pounds.
Better and healthier results than nozepic. You'll have one on
one weekly phone calls with a nutritionist. They'll put you
on the path to success. How do you take advantage
of this? Glad you asked limited time right now for
listeners of the show, mention Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
When you call and get two free weeks added to

fully commit, you'll get fifteen percent off your weight loss
program and fifteen percent off your energy supplement bundle.

Speaker 4 (16:55):
And your program is.

Speaker 2 (17:17):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
That was me yelling before a Jalen Brunson's final shot
like that The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon.

Speaker 3 (17:37):
That person's voice wasn't high pitch enough.

Speaker 4 (17:40):
Eh, I get kind of like Dick fight town now
and he makes Oh look at that.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
We'll get to the biggest football soap opera of the
last week that shows no signs of slowing down. But first,
if you're ready for a new job, let Express Employment
Professionals help expresses hiring for jobs in a variety of industries.
Job seekers never pay a fee at Express. Check out
expresspros dot com and to find your location, that's expresspros

(18:14):
dot Com. Well, when you decide you're gonna take one
of the best defenders in the NBA and just basically
shove him to the sideline, hit a game winning three.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
You get to be the Express pros Pro of the Week.
What a special moment.

Speaker 2 (18:38):
HEO.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
Here's how old that is.

Speaker 1 (18:42):
That was put together by Lauren Gardner, who was a
who was our engineer before no ty shirt. He put
that together before you even worked here, cap I put
it together.

Speaker 4 (18:51):
Seriously, remember that on it right now.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
You find the date. I don't think it was you.
I don't think it was twenty seventeen. When did you
start here?

Speaker 3 (18:58):
Twenty fifteen?

Speaker 4 (19:00):
Okay, but were you working on the show then?

Speaker 3 (19:01):
That was my first year on the show.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
It was for sure about that.

Speaker 3 (19:03):
Sure, okay, all right, I'm there.

Speaker 4 (19:05):
You were all right? I could swear with it's sure.

Speaker 3 (19:10):
Tom Looney would say he rolled it in.

Speaker 4 (19:13):
And then he would go eat everybody's food out of
the refrigerator. This is true. That would happen.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
Hey, if you leave that back door open, may disappear.

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Uh so the Express pros prother Week.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
Yes there once once upon a time it would have
been Tim Tebow, but instead it's somebody different.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
It's the guy who hit this shot.

Speaker 7 (19:32):
Backing down a sorry Toms and at the logo, Blenny
at sime left, we're tied at one thirteen. Here in
game six, Brunsdon between the legs, Bibel gets rid of Thompson.

Speaker 3 (19:40):
Walk up for reporter k he got it.

Speaker 7 (19:43):
The Klux Player of the Year will not beat it night.

Speaker 3 (19:46):
Here's a story lucky.

Speaker 1 (19:52):
There. It is the Express pros pro Wee. Congratulations Jalen Brunson. Uh,
you have won that award after an incredible individ dual effort. Look,
I know, I say all the time. Look, the Knicks
offense at the end of games is terrible. It just
bogs down. It's brunting with the ball, and it doesn't
like that plan other than whatever Brunson can create.

Speaker 4 (20:10):
Right, that's really right it.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
I get so pissed off about it because like, how
do we not do something better?

Speaker 4 (20:17):
How does it not happen?

Speaker 1 (20:18):
But then a night like tonight happens and he creates
his own shot and it'sor Thompson goes flying out of
the screen. You don't even see him when he's on
him like glue. Yeah, I'm okay with it tonight. I'm
okay with what happened tonight because I don't know that
there's two players in the NBA more clutch than Jalen Brunson,
Like some guys just have that gene and are comfortable
in the final minutes of games. I think he's averaging

(20:40):
thirteen points a game in the fourth quarter. In the playoffs,
nobody is averaging that. Like you know, he's gonna take
every shot. They don't set up plays for him. It's
what he can create off the dribble. And still he
is able to come through. He has done nothing but
rise through the ranks of NBA stars past couple of years.
And I mean, at this point you have to say
he's a top ten player in the league. And and

(21:00):
what he's able to do at the end of games.
Not many guys can hit his shots, and he hits
him despite the fact he's not big and he's not fast,
and he still gets his final shot off at the end.
Steph Curry can't get a shot off at the end
of games. A big defender comes out to him, he
freezes and he's trying to throw a peekaboo pass under
a big defender's arm. Well like when somebody's big brother
is gardner little brother, and it's like, Okay.

Speaker 4 (21:21):
What are you gonna do?

Speaker 1 (21:21):
What are you gonna do, and he's got to get
the ball to somebody else. But Brunson finds a way
to get his shot off. I mean, some guys just
have that clutch gene man like, that's what it is.
And he's got it. And again, I know there's two
guys in the NBA that are better than him in
moments like this.

Speaker 5 (21:35):
Yeah, I look at him and the way you describe
him is funny. Right, He's not big, he's not fast.
Let's keep going down this stuff. He doesn't do. Yeah,
yet he's able to look he's physicality. He gets after
it and finds a way to create space. In this case,
it's really one of the best little cutback dribbles, leaving

(21:58):
Thompson flying off your screen. If you had three d glasses,
it might have been a scary moment for you there
in the front row. But all that said, the standing around,
it's like Tibbs. We used to laugh and Phil Jackson
all he does, roll the ball out, look at all
the stars like TIBs.

Speaker 3 (22:14):
That's literally what he's doing.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
And then he sits there wide eyed or.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
Gets mad when something does go right. It's like, I
don't really think he called anything. You just said, get
the ball to Jalen and then everybody stood around.

Speaker 1 (22:25):
You just called Tom Thibodeau at Jim Teacher, who shows
up the beginning of the pier, takes a tendance, rolls
a couple of balls out, and sits down and gets
on his phone.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
He's mad, red faced, not what he expected to be
doing for his career. In many cases, am I wrong? No,
you're talking about Tims or at Jim Teacher. I'm kind
of pushing it together here and you decide which choose
your own adventure. But but you watched even on that play,
like if he missed that shot, I don't think.

Speaker 3 (22:54):
They had any chance in hell they were rebounding it.
That's how much everybody was standing around watching him, and
Kat had already falled out.

Speaker 5 (23:02):
Yeah, I mean it's played terribly. He and bruntson in
that fourth quarter and before. I mean the final number
is great, forty forty points, but number of possessions where
he's knocked off his spot. And look, this is where
you get into playoff basketball. It's like, during the regular season,
nine times out of ten, a bunch of those are fouls, right,

(23:22):
But here, all right, you get the body him up
a little bit and he's not getting the shot off,
or it's a you know, shot clock violation or a
turnover throwing it back into into traffic. But the thing
about him that I love most and this now becomes
the Jalen Brunts and admiration society.

Speaker 3 (23:39):
Is he didn't care.

Speaker 5 (23:41):
He's got the memory of a cornerback. All Right, I
just got burned. I gotta line up against this jerk again.
And that's what he does, and he comes back and
hits a big shot.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
Yeah, there's a difference between Hey, he's one for twelve,
but he still has the confidence to take that last
shot and then there's being one for twelve and I'm
gonna take that last shot and make it.

Speaker 4 (23:58):
Hey, that's the fourth quarter was for him.

Speaker 5 (24:01):
Do you think in the post that he took a
walk around Detroit like aunt did yesterday?

Speaker 4 (24:09):
He walked downtown the restaurant walk.

Speaker 3 (24:11):
Yeah, I mean he could. Nobody would recognize him.

Speaker 1 (24:13):
He would go into all the different white castles, yeah sure,
oh yeah, yeah, all the great things and.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
The casino Jason.

Speaker 3 (24:21):
Not one person knows who Jalen Bronson is.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
Oh would you stop with that?

Speaker 3 (24:24):
For which is a top ten player in the league,
just stop. Sure you don't believe that, do you? Sure
you really don't think he ranked them better than honest?

Speaker 4 (24:33):
Uh is better than.

Speaker 1 (24:37):
No, he's not better than Luca better than four?

Speaker 4 (24:42):
Five?

Speaker 3 (24:44):
I just gave you eight players already.

Speaker 4 (24:46):
No, that's six. You gave me six.

Speaker 3 (24:48):
I counted better than Kawhi Leonard.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
Keep going. He's better than kaw Not with that. Kawhi
Leonard plays once every four nights. Come on, man, Leonard,
he's better than Kawhi. Would you rather have? If you
talk to every single GM in the league, who would
you rather have? Jalen Brunster, Kawhi Leonard, give me Jayleen
Brunson an all.

Speaker 3 (25:05):
Same multi time champ. You gave me six is better
than that?

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Stop o, Gay, He's in the top ten. I gave
you those six guys absolutely have.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
The mental way better.

Speaker 4 (25:20):
No, I'd rather have him than Donovan.

Speaker 3 (25:21):
You know what, man, Norman Powell?

Speaker 4 (25:24):
Stop Norman? You know why? You know why?

Speaker 1 (25:29):
Just because he's your shirt T shirt tonight, Pow. We'll
have that NFL story coming up in ninety seconds. But first,
Moncey Bolanos has what's trending in the wide world of sports? Manzie,
what do you got for us.

Speaker 6 (25:43):
I mean, listen, it was just such a good shot
that we're gonna hear it one more time.

Speaker 7 (25:46):
Backing down a sorrd times and at the logo, plenty
of time left. We're tied at one thirteen. Here in
game six, Brunston between the legs triple gets rid of Thompson,
walk up free poner.

Speaker 4 (25:57):
He got it.

Speaker 7 (25:58):
The clutch player of the year will not beat a nut.

Speaker 6 (26:01):
He will not be denied. Some people just have it,
and he does have it.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
Brun sick lucky when there's something.

Speaker 4 (26:08):
About even if you want to.

Speaker 2 (26:09):
Call it that though, to.

Speaker 6 (26:09):
Be consistently lucky like that, however you want to look at.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
It, it's pretty impressive.

Speaker 6 (26:13):
Brunson ends with forty points, seven assists, and the Knicks
close out the series against the Pistons with that shot.
One sixteen to one thirteen was the final score. New
York is gonna face Boston in the next round. The Clippers,
I mean, it sounds so good. We're gonna hear it again,
Leonards and norm on the right wing skips to the rim,
cuts it through to the rim, and you just heard

(26:37):
on a five to seventy LA Sports Clippers Radio Network.

Speaker 2 (26:40):
Powell dropped twenty four points as.

Speaker 6 (26:42):
The Clippers forced the Game seven against the Nuggets, coming
out on top one eleven to one oh five. It
was a team effort, though Harden had twenty eight points,
six rebounds, eight assist. Kawhi the Klaw Leonard had twenty
seven points and ten rebounds. Game seven is gonna be
on Saturday in Denver. There were four game sixes in
the Stanley Playoffs. Only one force to Game seven, and

(27:02):
that was the Avalanche. They scored four goals in the
third period after defeating the Stars seven to four. That
Game seven will now be in Dallas on Saturday. The
Oilers they knocked off the Kings from the playoffs, coming
out on top six to four. The Maple Leaves eliminated
the Senators after a four to two win, and the
Golden Knights took out the.

Speaker 9 (27:20):
Wild after a three to two victory. In baseball, the
Tigers outscored the Angels ten to four. Detroit scored eight
runs in the final two innings and have the best
record in the AL at twenty and twelve. Angels after
the game did announce that they're putting outfielder Mike Trout
on the injured list.

Speaker 6 (27:35):
Because of a bone bruise in his left knee. While
the Rockies edged the Giants in San Francisco four to three,
Colorado on a two game winning streak, ya the Blue
Jays top the Red Sox four to two thanks to
a three run shot from Vladimir Guerrero Junior, and the
Nationals avoid the sweep and defeat the Phillies four to two.
It's been fun, guys.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
Back to you.

Speaker 4 (27:53):
Thanks a bunch, mon Congratulations on your clippers.

Speaker 3 (27:55):
Thank you you too, credit gratulation. Very happy Monsi milagna. Yes,
smile is why it's a good thing.

Speaker 6 (28:03):
I'm not working on Saturday and can watch the game
alone because you know it's it's gonna be It's.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Gonna be a game. It's gonna be a game. Just
keep the camera on.

Speaker 6 (28:13):
No no, no camera, no no.

Speaker 3 (28:15):
I'm not saying live streaming. Oh no no.

Speaker 5 (28:17):
So if it goes properly, yeah, you can it saying hey,
look at.

Speaker 4 (28:22):
Mike, Mike, back back up, Mike. You're done. Mike. I
got I gotta come get you. I gotta I gotta
come down. You're done, You're done.

Speaker 5 (28:29):
Super fandom. People want to watch parties. Why not you
the watch party.

Speaker 4 (28:33):
Definitely not get you to come down. Not my style.

Speaker 5 (28:39):
True super fan Monzie screaming at James Harden when he
goes four for eighteen against.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
Mike getting the car. Mike, Mike your party, Your night
is over, Mike getting the car. I'm taking you home.
I'm taking you check the baby.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
So how about a different take on what's been going
on with Bill Belichick the last few days? Okay, because
this drama with Jordan Hudson and the CBS interview took
another big turn today. Hudson, who has been at the
center of everything going on with Bill Belichick, their relationship.
He's seventy three, she's twenty four. She's acting as his.

Speaker 4 (29:16):
Agent pr person.

Speaker 1 (29:18):
CBS talked about how she disrupted the interview many times,
caused a thirty minute delay when she stormed off the set.
Belichick said, the interview was only supposed to be about
my book, but they asked questions. We didn't know we're
going to be asked about our relationship. CBS said, no,
We said it was a wide ranging interview. There was
no parameters on this interview at all. In the last

(29:38):
couple of days, we start getting new bits of information
about their relationship and things that went on. Today we
found out that Belichick's book tour is continuing, could have
another appearance coming up in a few days. So yeah,
as if that disaster was enough going to have another
interview coming up, and that potentially it was Jordan Hudson
who put the ending on Hard Knox North Carolina right

(30:01):
when that got reported earlier this offseason. What a great
idea this was, right, all You're gonna have Hard Knocks.
It's awesome, right, North Carolina. I can't wait to see this.
But according to reports, New York Post had the story today,
Jordan Hudson made demands about being executive producer, being in
charge of things, and Hard Knocks was so put off
by it. I said, this is not how we're doing it.
When we don't, we don't negotiate like this, and Hard

(30:25):
Knocks was canceled. Everybody has been sort of coming around
a lot of people in the media, I should say,
but coming around to Bill Belichick is being controlled and
he's being used, and Jordan Hudson is is the puppet
master here. Yeah, she is very much Lady Macbeth, and yeah,
she has seen the fast Lane and likes the fact
that she is in Belichick, and here in with Belichick

(30:48):
and here suddenly, Hey, i am starting to climb the ladder.
And I'm on television all the time. I'm being written
about all the time. We're on TMZ, Belichick being controlled.

Speaker 4 (30:58):
What is he doing? What is he doing?

Speaker 1 (31:00):
How about this? For something different? Belichick knows what's going on.
He is courting all this disaster press and he loves it.
He's not being held hostage. He's lost in this. I'm
seventy three, she's twenty four relationship, and he is completely
in the IDGAF part of his career. For everything, Right,

(31:21):
this is not the same Belichick we've known for the
last forty years. Think about how different the stuff going
on with him? Is that what we saw? Right, it's
not the same guy. Right, He's done interviews. He knows
how they're gonna play. He's done interviews before. He knows
what's asked and what's not. And here boom, here's a
disaster of interview. But yet here it is getting all

(31:42):
kinds of information. He knows this is going on, he
knows what the reaction is, he knows the public reaction is.
This is a disaster. But still I'm going forward with
doing interviews and this is how it's going right. He
knows that this is hurting North Carolina football. That North
Carolina many reports say they're not happy with how this
is going on, and they got this could become a
real issue with him and Jordan Hudson. He knows it's

(32:04):
hurting North Carolina football, yet he doesn't care. He doesn't
care because this is the part of his life. An
I don't care about anything. I'm not in the NFL,
I'm not here. When in the past would you ever
think Bill Belichick would do something that would cause him
to put his football team in any sort of disadvantage.
He would never do that. But now clearly this is
not reflecting well on North Carolina. Belichick doesn't care, doesn't

(32:26):
shows up for the interview with a T shirt with
a big hole in the collar like he's seventeen years
old or he's twenty four in a rock band. When
you can show up wearing anything you want to. I
get that Belichick has had the casual lifestyle wardrobe choices.
But still you come out an interview, you wearing a
ripped Navy T shirt and you're doing an interview. I mean,
this is what you're doing. Again, he is not the

(32:47):
same guy. He is definitely in a later life some
sort of crisis what he has going on that this
is how he is acting when he has been completely
different from the forty years before.

Speaker 4 (32:58):
Again, he's not the same. You think he's being controlled.

Speaker 1 (33:01):
No, he just doesn't care because he knows what's going on.
And if he did care, he would stop all of this.
He would stop Jordan Hudson from getting involved in stuff
that would cause him to have bad press, that would
cause North Carolina football to have bad press.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
But he doesn't do it. He's a different guy.

Speaker 5 (33:17):
Really, get to the point where you have the abdication
of everything you were for seventy plus years, Like that's
the thing that just in for me doesn't reconcile quite
so easily. And look, he can stop at an avery time.
I guess we don't know every detail. I know they
buried in that lengthy Hey we're going after CBS letter.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
Oh by the way, we did meet on a plane,
Thank you very much. You got done that the other day.
Oh yeah, I had to do was say it's a
cute story and keep selling the company line. Meanwhile, if
there's something untoward or something strange.

Speaker 4 (33:54):
That the other guy may know.

Speaker 5 (33:56):
You know, he's laurying you because he knows there's some
other answer you're supposed to be giving.

Speaker 3 (34:00):
You just mean mug him the whole way.

Speaker 5 (34:02):
I don't know, it's just the curiosity for me, Like
at every turn, it's like Charles Barkley mentioned it, and
it's like, yeah, I've known this guy a long time.

Speaker 3 (34:11):
This is a little little odd, and yeah it is right.

Speaker 5 (34:15):
Again control all the way down every facet of an
organization to where we're at now. I mean, it's a choice,
That's what it seems to be, just the curious observer
of me. I mean, look, ever since he wrote his
name on that napkin to say I'm not gonna be
the Jets coach, and even before that, he's been in

(34:35):
the public circles and we've watched the career. So to
suddenly break one hundred and eighty degrees now it goes
back to the decision to hire Matt Patricia as your
offensive coordinator and some of those other things. We already
had signs of, Hey, I'm gonna live my life a
little differently. I'm gonna stands it and go the opposite.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
Exit.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
Out about a Fresca exitswall and don't what, he's not
the same guy. I just understand that he is not
the same guy. In a year, he's gone from I'm
the best head coach anybody's ever seen. I'm trying to
get back in the NFL to first hanging out laughing
with Pat McAfee, joking around on Tom Brady's roast, and
now I mean, he's not the same guy. Absolutely not

(35:17):
coming up next. It's been a big night in the NBA.
How about we look ahead. We got two big games
in the first round left. We've got a big game
six tomorrow, Game seven Saturday. Who's walking away with the wins?
One answer might surprise you. That's next right here, Jason
and Mike Fox.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
Definitely the Celtics.

Speaker 1 (35:36):
That's a new series next week. That's not tomorrow or Saturday. Yeah,
you an hour ago on the show.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
Oh thanks for listening.

Speaker 4 (35:48):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (35:49):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific.

Speaker 1 (35:57):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best
friend Mike Harmon.

Speaker 4 (36:02):
This time it counts big night tonight at the NBA.

Speaker 1 (36:07):
We watch Jalen Brunson ascend to the throne of the
greatest player in NBA history with a big three to
eliminate the Detroit Pistons. Clippers forrest Game seven with the
Nuggets love more than that game coming up in a second.
But as we look back, we need to look forward,
Mike Carmon, They always say look forward.

Speaker 4 (36:25):
Yeah, absolutely forward.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
Got a big game six tomorrow night, big game seven
on Saturday. Let's deal with Game six tomorrow night, Houston
and Golden State, the Warriors at home. Look, I was
right on I told you about Game five. Look, the
Warriors are going to go in. The Rockets are gonna
come out like a house of fire, and the Warriors
are gonna pull their starter and say, Okay, you know what,
We're a veteran team, We're an older team. We're gonna

(36:48):
win this thing in Game six at home, right, Steve
Kuriz smart, We've seen that plenty of times, and that's
basically what happened.

Speaker 4 (36:53):
Now.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
The Warriors made a nice little run when they put
their their backups in, Like I think, I think Steve
Kerr played like fifth teen guys off his.

Speaker 4 (37:00):
Bench, and uh I didn't I know he played nine
guys off his bench, right.

Speaker 5 (37:06):
It was my guy, former Northwestern guy Spencer with head
butts and everything.

Speaker 3 (37:10):
Yeah again loose.

Speaker 4 (37:11):
I think Evan he Schmeier got in the game.

Speaker 3 (37:13):
How dare you?

Speaker 1 (37:16):
Uh? But going into tomorrow, it seems like they have
everything going for them except Houston was the better team
most of the season, and while they picked up a
little bit of confidence, they also did not get caught
up in a trash talking situation with Draymond Green, because
that is what put them in the.

Speaker 4 (37:36):
Hole this series.

Speaker 1 (37:37):
They figured out, we have to stay away from that
knuckleheadedness and go play. They played well in Game five,
but what I'm looking at in Game six, Steph Curry
is still dinged up. That thumb is still giving him
problem up man, and he they keep showing it on TV.
He's not shooting nearly as often as he does. He's

(37:58):
not dominating the board like he normally does. I think
the Rockets have kind of figured something out here over
the first five games. I will take the Rockets to
force a Game seven back in Houston with a win
Tomorrow night. Shangoon has a big night, Van Vliet has
a big night, and it's Game seven in Houston this weekend.

Speaker 5 (38:18):
Did Ad van Vliet over fifteen and a half points
in this one. Warriors given five total is two oh
four and a half. I'm gonna take the Warriors to
win out right, but I do think Houston's within that
five and a half point barrier and that we get
down to the wire where Jimmy Buckets has to make
a big shot to finish the job.

Speaker 1 (38:40):
Now, you look at the Clippers and the Nuggets, and
I'm glad Manti has left because, boy, I mean from
the beginning of this series this has looked like Nuggets
and seven.

Speaker 4 (38:48):
You could dress it up as many ways as you want.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
You can give out all the Norman Powell T shirts
you want to shirt. You gotta find a way to
give give out T shirts of Zubots in Game seven
in Denver if.

Speaker 4 (39:01):
You're gonna want to win this game.

Speaker 1 (39:03):
This series is exactly who the Clippers have been for
the past six years. Some games, boy, they look great,
they look unbeatable. They're gonna ascend to where we thought
they'd be. Other games, Wow, they're losing by twenty five
and they don't look like they've played together at all.
And Kawhi looks disinterested. This is the entire clip. This
is the entire Kawhi Leonard era of the Clippers in
one series. This is set up. The Nuggets take Game

(39:24):
seven at home. They're a different team there. It's gonna
be a big day for Jokic. Misses a big layup
in the fourth quarter, gets blocked from behind by Zubach.
You know that's gonna spur him on for Game seven
when it looked like the Nuggets might come back and
make this thing close at the final minute tonight. So yes,
this has looked from the beginning of the series like
Nuggets and seven. I'm not going to differ from that.

Speaker 5 (39:44):
Nuggets and seven, thirty two, eighteen, twenty fifteen, eleven, twenty eight,
that's your series for James Harden.

Speaker 3 (39:52):
So which which James Harden shows up?

Speaker 5 (39:55):
The guy from Game six, the guy from Game one,
or the guy that was in each of those other games,
because even this one he was ten of twenty and
it seemed like he hit everything, which meant he.

Speaker 3 (40:06):
Was cold for a while as well. But yeah, I'll
take the Nuggets to finish the job.

Speaker 1 (40:11):
Yeah, I mean, I'd love to take the Clipper. I'd
love to take the Clippers. I would love to I
would love to think that James Harden's gonna show up
and be big down the stretch and that big mile High.
I know, but I feel like I've seen this movie
too many times.

Speaker 3 (40:23):
Don't tell Jason.

Speaker 1 (40:29):
Monzi's gonna keep my car. I think that's gonna It's
likely gonna happen.

Speaker 5 (40:32):
But yeah, a couple of the plays down the stretch
where Jokic was battling with Zoomach.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
I wonder if those become foulves in Denver.
