that I've had to go through in my life in sports,

where I know my life changed because of it. Like
I brought it up a few minutes ago. This gets
into the Knicks lost tonight to the to the Pacers
eight thirty five overtime, a game in which teams leading
by nine points with fifty seconds left in the game.
Since the mid nineties when they started keeping track, were
one four hundred and fourteen wins and zero losses.

Gotta love that that doesn't even include the thirty years
before they started paying attention.
Speaker 1 (01:16):
Until tonight, until tonight. There's certain losses that I know
just changed me as a fan, changed me as a fan, like, Okay,
I'm wound too tight or I just have to unplug.
And you know I mentioned why not talk about the
worst losses? And you know that I've had to go
through the last few years. I talked about that loss.
The Jets lost a playoff game to the Steelers in

That's how long ago that millennials are like, what the
Jets in the playoffs?

Are you kidding me? A long long time ago.

They lost a playoff game in six to the Steelers
in which they missed two field goals in the final
two minutes of regulation and lost in overtime. Doug Brown
missed a forty five yard field goal, and then they
intercepted Roethlisberger, and then Brian missed another forty four yard
field goal, where the Jets decided, we're not going to

throw the football, We're just gonna try to run and
kick a field goal. He missed two field goal first
time ever in the history of the NFL that a
team missed two field goals in the final minute of
regulation lost a game, right, first time that's happened.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Well, at least breaking.
Speaker 1 (02:26):
And when that happened, that loss, like I know, that
loss broke something in me with the Jets, and I realized,
you know what, I just I can't hold on like
this anyway. I can't hold on like this anymore. They're
gonna kill me like that. And a few years later
they killed Carl.
Speaker 3 (02:40):
So I didn't kill Carl. Okay, they killed Carl, damn right,
they did, no sin Safarian Jikins completed the catch.

I don't know what you're talking about legitimately, Like this
is why for the years we've been on airon this
is year eleven, and we're blessed to keep doing it
and hopefully for many years more, educating and forming, entertaining,
in raging, engaging all of that stuff with our global audience,
your fandom. I'm jealous of the highs that you have

with it, but I sure as hell don't miss those lows,
like I experienced losses for my Chicago teams, and there's
plenty of them.

to where you know, maybe you did.

But this is one of those laws that is going
to break me as a Knicks fan, Like I need
to be a different fan after this, Oh after watching
the Pacers come back when the Knicks are up by
fourteen with two point fifty left to go in the game,
up until teams up by fourteen with two point fifty
or less left to go in the game. Up until

this point, since the mid nineties, they've been keeping track
nine hundred and seventy seven to zero.

a fourteen point lead and you had Nie Smith making

A guy that never makes shots like this had one
thirty point game the entire year of a thirty point game.
The Knicks missing free throws down the stretch. All Karl
Anthony Towns are oganna, noob. We had to do was
hit a free throw each of them in the final
twenty seconds. They both missed, which left the door open. Right,
Halliburton hits the jumper. That is a miracle shot that
bounces off the back of the iron and goes up

eight feet in the air and comes down cleanly through
the basket. He does the choke jester. He does the
Regi Miller choke jester again. This is a highlight that's
already I know is going to live forever in the
annals of the NBA. We're gonna be watching this highlight
for the next fifty years, right, We are just like
the Regi Miller highlight from the mid nineties, and we're
gonna watch it. That was that was amazing enough. It

gets called back to a two. So now the Pacers
have to come back thinking they won the game. Nope,
doesn't matter. The Knicks can't close out in overtime and
Obi toppin former Nick who they said, ah, we don't
have room for you, hits two large dunks in the
final forty seconds to win the game for them, like
the again, like this this game is one of those
where oh, in my head, like a Synaps's breaking or

in uh in Wayne's world when he goes maybe that
movie Scanners and the guy's head just explodes, like something
like that happened in my head, where I said, I
I can't hold on like that.

We were sitting here watching watching this sunfold right up fourteen.

room to watch the recD. Yeah, room was no better.
The control room with Frostburg and Tyshirt was no better.

I love today, Shay Gildess Alexander winning the MVP because
the MVP, and I've talked about this for a long time,
the MVP is not just simply who had the best
year in the league statistically.

four MVP.

But you know what, Yeah, the Nuggets have been a
nice fifty to fifty five win team in the Western
Conference the last five years, and I won the title, right, Okay, great,
But during the regular season, the MVP is not Player
of the Year right now, and hey, and I've said,
the best thing that the Major League Baseball in the
NBA can do is say we're gonna have a Player
of the Year and an MVP. So that way we're

gonna reward somebody with the Michael Jordan or Kobe Bryant
Player of the Year award where, hey, you had such
a great year, dominant on the court, statistically, you're the
player of the Year. But the MVP you gotta lead
your team to something. And I've watched four years in
a row NICOLEA. Jokicic play that great and it's still
a fit. They're a fifty to fifty five win team,
which is good. But shake Gildess. Alexander also had a

pretty record breaking year this year, doing things that we've
never seen done. Right, Jokic with the triple double app Yeah,
I get it, and I'm not saying anything bad about Jolkic,
but Gildess Alexander leaves the Thunder to first place in
the conference, and they're the best team in the NBA.
That's the MVP. That's the MVP, not Player of the Year.
That's the MVP. So I was happy that he won

because I felt, okay, this time the voters rewarded the
guy that actually led his team to heights in the
regular season. Right when Steph Curry they were talking about
Steph Curry for the MVP like three years ago, when
he's having a great year, I'm like, they're seventh in
the Western Conference. Man, you gotta finish higher than that.
If you're gonna be the MVP, you're a great player.
But I'm telling you, if you're great, you should finish higher. Right,

Lebron had the Cavaliers. They had a bunch of stiffs
he was playing with, and they're the top of the
Eastern Conference for the most time when he was there.
But like, if you're the MVP, you gotta lead your
team to son. You can't just say, hey, I'm having
a great year for my team. Okay, that's not the
most Valuable player.

I was surprised there was seventy one twenty nine. We
talked about it with Rick Buker a little bit. You'll

he was the best player on a really good team.

far and away. Look, I was okay with that, because
what did the Knicks do with Brunson? Yeah they were

of my family was all Giants fans.

and my uncle, my main uncle, went to Indiana State,

we still had a lot of show to down. Yeah. No,

throw the football, We're just gonna try to run and
kick a field goal. He missed two field goal first
time ever in the history of the NFL that a
team missed two field goals in the final minute of
regulation lost a game, right, first time that's happened.

loss broke something in me with the Jets, and I realized,
