Speaker 3 (00:51):
You know, randomly as that sounddrop it hits my daughter
earlier is like, one of the things I want to
read this summer is the OJI did It?

Speaker 1 (01:01):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:01):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:01):
It was called if I Did It, I'm going book?
Wait what? Because I thought like, no, no, no, Many
infer that that's what the book is, but the actual
title was not science he did if I did? If
I did? I just thought it was funny as hell.

Speaker 3 (01:17):
That just randomly talking about things for the summer, all
these different workouts and camps and all this other stuff
that we got to get done travel And then she
written rattles off a couple of books, and right in
the middle of it was the OJ Stimpson book. So
when Tyshirt hits the button to drop that one, I'm like,
oh see, it all ties together in a very weird way.

Speaker 1 (01:37):
Oh boy. Uh, We'll get back into the NBA Finals
in a minute. Boston all over Dallas tonight one O
seven eighty nine, taking Game one, in the game that
Chris tops Porzingis wouldn't let the Celtics lose again, Chris
tops Porzingis was the best player on the floor. He's
hitting threes, he's stuffing shots at the rim, he's pulling

(01:59):
down big rebound. It's like it's twenty sixteen again and
he's doing everything for the Knicks. It's all my goodness,
but big bombshell. Today. We talked about a little bit
a few minutes ago. More on that. Now. The Lakers
are moving closer to hiring Danny Hurley as their next
head coach. Yukon head coach is going to meet with
the Lakers tomorrow. The Lakers have said they've targeted that

(02:20):
he's their guy, preparing a huge offer for him. Hurley
has told his players, yes, I'm talking with them. Until
you hear differently, it's business as usual. We're still going forward.
So you would think that, and I told you there's
no way this is not happening at this point. It's
too public, it's too embarrassing for the Lakers if they
don't get him. The fact that Danny Hurley is open

(02:40):
to this, this is going to happen now. Not to
add more pressure to the situation. However, let's add more
pressure to the situation. Magic Johnson was just on Jimmy
Kimmel tonight. I mean surprise, Magic Johnson's ah my good,
he's back. Don't tell the West coast. Oh okay, I
haven't seen it yet. Night one of the NBA Finals.

(03:00):
Someone who may or may not be Magic Johnson was
on Jimmy Kimmel. Now, if you're listening, this is like
the Twitter game that we play. Here's the thing. Okay,
here's the thing. If you're listening and you're in the
East Coast and it's happened, Magic Johnson was on Jimmy Kimmel.
If you're on the West coast, maybe Magic Johnson's on
Jimmy Kimmel. Okay, so let's seal that. Okay, okay, yeah,

(03:22):
you used to do a post finals game like right away.
But here's we have just no, it's I just know,
it's sure. Yeah, here's what we do. Let's play because
we know Magic Johnson was on the East Coast feed
of Jimmy Kimmel tonight we get invited back. Let's do that.
The West coast feed could be different, could be maybe
it's George Clooney on the West coast. I can't tell.
But here's Magic Johnson East Coast feed of the Jimmy

(03:44):
Kimmel Show telling Jimmy Kimmel. Oh yeah, I want that
guy as the next head coach of the Lakers per
one Hurley want.

Speaker 5 (03:52):
I want the coach to be Hurley if we can
sign them. I think it's worst foot bath, but worked
for coach Hurley who won back to back inchampionships with Connecticut,
so he has a championship background. He's great with offense
and defensive strategy. I think that the players will respect him,
and he's tough. The Lakers got to have somebody who

(04:15):
will hold them accountable.

Speaker 1 (04:17):
Hey, look, Magic again, that's the East Coast version. Maybe
it's not on the West Coast version. Magic says some
great stuff there. Because Danny Hurley. This is why I
love this move. For another reason why I love this
move for the Lakers. Yes, they're they're coaching for now,
because Hurley will hold the Lakers accountable. Again. The video
of him screaming at Lebron and ad like staring up

(04:38):
at them while he's yelling at them for something he
wants them to do defensively is gonna be awesome. But
he's gonna get He's gonna get the buy. And now, hey,
I have the pedigree and we're gonna do well. I'm
gonna change things a little bit here to get the
best out of how do you guys right away? But
I'm also the guy for the future. I'm also gonna
bridge the Lebron era and get to what's next. I'll

(05:01):
get to the brawny era of the Lakers. So they're
looking at they're looking at saying we're hiring our next
Phil Jackson, We're hiring our next pat Riley. Where we
expect Danny Hurley to be here for ten year. Wait
a minute, Wait a minute, JJ Reddick supposed to be
pat Ryle. JJ Reddick. Can't throw pat Riley in there. Okay,
what's hey? What's the Give me an example of when

(05:22):
you say the word the phrase flavor of the week. Hey,
that's JJ Redick. Uh. They're looking at Hurley as being
that guy, and he's gonna be the one. He's he's
Phil Jackson, He's pat Ryley. This is when the Lakers
have been at their best, when they have a strong
head coach, and he's gonna come in. Yes, he's gonna
hold the guys accountable. But this is why Danny Hurley works.

(05:42):
It's not like Danny Hurley comes in with some kind
of system that he wants the players to play. He's
not Steve Kerr where he's coming in saying, Hey, we're
gonna move the ball. There's gonna be a lot of movement,
and we're gonna take advantage of what you guys do.
Watch what they do. We're gonna set the NBA on
their ear. What we've heard about Hurley a law for
a long time is he's tough, but he loves his guys,
and his guys love him. Back and getting the buy

(06:04):
in is the biggest thing in the NBA. And if
that's who Danny Hurley is, I love my guys. I'm
gonna hold you accountable. That's the guy you want being
your head coach, because a lot of times in the NBA,
it's not about, Hey, here's a system that we have
in place, it's gonna be it's gonna cause the other
teams to go crazy that they can't figure it out.
I mean, we fall into that trap because we think

(06:25):
about football and we want as our next head coach. Boy,
this guy's a great defensive coordinator. He's got this great
defensive system. This guy's a great offensive coordinator. It's a
great offensive system. But you think of the NBA, a
lot of it is hey, managing egos and getting you
guys to play at the top level of what you
can play. And this is kind of what Joe Mizula
doesn't get credit for, is that the Celtics out talent
other teams. That's why they win because they have more talent.

(06:48):
But when you have a lot of talent, sometimes you
have to let your guys do their thing and hold
it together as loosely as you can, Like I said,
The Celtics are kind of like controlled chaos, but Danny
Hurley is different in that I'm going to hold you responsible,
but you're also my guys, and I'm going to make
sure that all of you are playing the best basketball
you possibly can. His is a system or an ideal

(07:09):
rather than a system that you can take from college
bring it to the NBA and it can work, all right.
You think Tom Tibdau is going to work for the
Nicks for more than a couple of seasons. I didn't
think so. As a boy, he's going to a great
on them. Turns out year four with Tom Thibdau is
gonna wind up being the best one. But you know
what you did. You didn't make that work. A lot
of those guys weren't there for the four years. That's true.
We were bringing players in. So it's only my third year.

(07:32):
Don't say it. It's four years that they're now getting
this hasn't been there all right. Here's what's on the
trading block. All these guys have been with Tips for
four years together. They're all got to go. So this
is this is an ideal that Danny Hurley can bring
from college to the NBA. And have some success both
immediate and build a culture. And that's what you're looking

(07:54):
at the reason why you're going after this guy because
JJ Reddick, what do we say about him? Is JJ
Redick really gonna be guy that's gonna come in to
build a culture? Is he a culture guy? Or is
he Lebron's friend who does podcasts that has no coaching
experience that is going to have to figure it out
on the flow.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
But that's the curiosity is that we just don't know. No,
you don't know what the philosophy is or what the
background look. We obviously have a lot.

Speaker 1 (08:14):
Of clips of him between his work and ESPN, some
hot take opinions, and obviously the podcast with Lebron James,
which looked for the past month seemed like it was
just being more of a job interview than a conversation
at times like well, how would you do this? So Ja,
let me show you this on the telestrader here? What
would you do right here? What'd you tho the telestrator?

(08:36):
J J Reddick now figuring out three in this situation?
What would you do? They went through all those things,
you know with Hurley, you get a lot of screens
a lot of activity. Uh, and you got to keep
moving off the ball, right, that's offensively a lot a
lot to try to create the extra pass, the extra shot.
And you're gonna have to buy in defensively if you're

(08:57):
gonna go out because they bought into Frank Vialle Moost
four years ago older and sight. Yeah, but if you
haven't bought into defense for three years, maybe it's a
new thing. Maybe arrested by back, we'll buy an age.
You kind of have to write if you're a liberal, he.

Speaker 3 (09:11):
Wasn't ad the report that he was pushing Barrego pretty hard, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1 (09:16):
And and divisiveness at Clutch baby, I get it. But again,
you're just throwing guys out there that you're hoping are
going to work. You want to put someone in a
position where you can say, this is the best chance
that it's going to work, because at anytime you hire
a coach, you're taking a chance. You don't know how
it's going to go. But you want to make sure
that you are taking an educated, as educated a risk

(09:37):
as possible. JJ Reddick is not an educated risk. These guys,
that's just a risk, right. Danny Hurley is an educated risk.
And you can say, boy, what do you know that
that that he's going to work over J Jed Reddick,
I would say, I don't, but I know from what
I've seen from Danny Hurley.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
He works right, He's got a rod, he's got proof
of concept. You talk to as many four former assistants
and players and whatever what works in the in the system,
in that locker room culture, you get a good glimpse.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Of all of that.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
It would appear that as fire as fiery as he gets,
and you know, at times it became kind of a
running joke during the season of Hey, what's Danny Hurley
gonna do next, when's a chair gonna fly, When's something
crazy gonna happen?

Speaker 1 (10:24):
But to that point it was effective, and with a
squad that's now won back to back titles. UH and
guys bought in could have left for other opportunities. I'm
sure plenty of those players that have been in the system.
I'm sure they could have gone and found ni L money,
perhaps as great or greater somewhere else to become a
bigger individual star. But they stuck around. There's only one

(10:48):
part of this that I don't like. He stinks There's
only one part of this idol. Oh sorry I jump.
I jumped to the end of the book. Like sometimes
I say, there's only one part of this I don't like.
Is that not hiring JJ Reddick now pushes my plans
of managing the Mets a couple of weeks get the

(11:10):
Cavs job. You're right, but what I needed was Gottlieb
gets the Wisconsin Green Bay job hosting a sports talk
radio show, D one college coach, right, JJ Reddick hosting
a hot takes you know in the studio TV guy
coaching the Lakers, me radio host Mets. I could I
would be less than two years away from managing the Mets.

(11:31):
I might be away for pushing the manager of the
White Sox. Dude, you could go manage them right now.
You got You could just show up tomorrow and say
I'd like to manage to night and they would say, yeah,
go ahead. It's talking about it. Walking in doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
I've got my Belichick like south Side Hoodie, let's go.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
I mean, they they don't care. They're actually saying, hey,
come on and do just help me. I can't do this.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Well, I showed you can't do this right, basically saying
this is going to be guarantee, it's going to be
more entertaining than the all almost said it that you
just watched fourteen.

Speaker 1 (12:03):
Losses in a row. You could show up tomorrow. But
I mean, I mean, like this is gonna be Look
because the Mets are only three games out of the wild. God, like,
this is gonna push my this in the minutes rallying
a little bit here. This hurts me now because I
could say, hey, man, gottlieb Breddick Smith, let's go, let's go.
I'm ready, I have all Mets gears.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
I mean, you didn't have any front office experience, but
that's fine.

Speaker 1 (12:25):
Yeah, Steve Kurt won the NBA title a few times.
He had a few rings, he had some you know,
he was Yeah, he had you know, he had a
little bit more sweat and he got to hang out
with fil sweat. Yeh. Lebron passing the ball a lot,
I mean Jordan passing the ball a lot. I mean
it was. But I'd say that go right there, boom,
gottleib Breddick Smith, let's go. And the thing is that
you don't have to give me any Mets gear. I

(12:45):
have a ton of it. I could just wear it
so I'll save money on that. No, I'm not gonna
wear start, I'm not gonna wear not gonna happen. But look,
this is look this should happen. It makes sense. It
builds a cal for now and the future. The Lakers
feel like we're settling our head coach for the next decade.
I mean this again, I can't believe the Lakers are

(13:07):
doing this because this is not a Laker thing to do.
The Laker thing to do is just say, I don't know,
let's just do this for a little while and see
if Lebron likes it. Like, that's what That's what they've done.

Speaker 3 (13:16):
Eric in the Instagram world at Swollen Dome over there,
he fired off.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
First, he came up with the doctor dome. He thought
that was fun.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
But he added on the can't you just see Jay
Moore he's throwing the Danny hurt little Let's go get
him and then run around high five, and everybody.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
Goes, come on, let's go right because he's that sees
that he's in the room where it happens. That's fine,
that's fine. Hurley is the most logical thing, which is
why it's gonna blow up. Yeahhurly'd be great. He will
have to tone down a little bit of a celebration's like, oh,
we don't play thirty games and go to the we
play eighty two games. Okay, I will hold my son again.

Speaker 3 (13:54):
That becomes an eighty two game question, like we always
talk about it with players hitting a wall. If you're
coaching style, is that point by time you get to
the n season tournament?

Speaker 1 (14:04):
H Is there anarchy? Maybe he's gonna do both. Hey, listen,
I'm a Lakers coach, but I gotta leave in the
middle of the season to coach Yukon. They'll be back
when it's important, like for the playoffs. I'll be back
for that. Don't wrah. I'm gonna do both things. It's
gonna be fine. Exit. How about a Fresca exit swallen? Dope,
you watch it or I'll get Doc Rivers to come
in here and interview. Oh boy, you.

Speaker 6 (14:24):
Watch busy coaching on clips? I'll make that he was
really good. He was coaching his ass off on clip.
He went after JJ redikin there too. How about that
coming up next?

Speaker 1 (14:35):
You wouldn't think that one play would be the difference
in an eighteen point game. One win of the NBA Finals,
but one play clearly was the difference. What was it?
We'll tell you next right here Jason and Mike Fox.

Speaker 7 (14:48):

and we got a fun game. Come on your way
in a few minutes plus later on this hour. No
No No, No, No, no, no, Jaesson, I'm ready. Yes,
it is a tweet. We're not playing the Magic john

(16:00):
and Twitter's a fun game. Yeah, I know it's sem America. No,
we have a fun game coming up in a few minutes. Now,
we're obligated to play it. No, we're gonna We're gonna
play a different game. I'm not a liar. Okay, we're
gonna play it different stuff. I didn't tell you to
press the button for the Magic. Johnson said the game Magic.
Johnson is not Tweeting's wise on Jimmy kimmeltonight, saying the
Laker's gotta hire Danny Hurley. How excited you got, ty Shirt?

(16:22):
You just broke his heart? Well, you know what, you're
the anti Sandy Glas. This is a game they clause.
You can't just make a bunch up and we can
still play. I'm saying that. Come on, dude, this is
Justin's had this idea for this great game. We're gonna
Killer and we're gonna play Magic. What the hell is
wrong with you? Tyshirt's wrong with me? Oh? Sorry, sorry

(16:44):
to have fun on the Killer. Tyser's back on the
show for two nights in a row for the first
time in like eight months and suddenly it's oh, it
was all the fun's fun? Are you here tomorrow, Jason?
What does that matter? I'm just asking a questions. Are
you here tomorrow? Maerica? What?

Speaker 2 (16:59):
No?

Speaker 1 (17:00):
But are you here tomorrow? America wants to know if
your heart you know what? I was going to be here,
but now I'm not. Why because now I feel now
because you want to do that, I'm not going to
be here. You're suspended tomorrow. No, No, you're suspended. You're suspended.
You already weren't going to be here tomorrow. I know exactly.
Steve and I will be here tomorrow. Alex tightshert the

(17:20):
cal Ripkin of Fox Sports Radio. I just like I
was here for this big game came. Look, we'll get
to that game that we're going to play in a
couple of seconds. But Game one of the NBA Finals
tonight goes to the Celtics because Chris tops Porzingis did
Chris tops Porzingis things from eight years ago. Coming off

(17:41):
the bench from the Celtics tonight first game he's played
in forty days. He's missed ten games last the last
ten games of the Celtics have played. Think about that
ten games in forty days, ten games of forty days.
But he comes out. He's hitting threes, he's blocking shots,
he's pulling down big rebounds. He does everything. He is
the big X factor for the Celtics, and all you

(18:04):
need to do to look at his impact on the
game is that he comes off the bench in the
first half. They're up by twenty one at halftime. He's
on the bench for the first five and a half
six and a half minutes of the third quarter, and
in that time, the Mavericks did whatever they wanted to
and cut a twenty one point lead to eight. Luca
hits a three and suddenly he's winking at the crowd.
You're like, oh boy, the Mavericks's gonna race his deficit

(18:26):
and we're riding all kinds of crazy. Oh the Celtic stink,
look at him blow this huge lead. But Porzingis comes
back in the game and with a nine point lead,
he hoists up a three, he misses, Jason Tatum gets
the rebound, Porzingis blitzes in, Tatum hits him with the pass,
and he goes in for a thunderous dunk that rattles

(18:48):
the garden and from then on they go on a
run to end the third quarter, they take a twenty
point lead to the fourth quarter and they cruise and
win by eighteen. It's hard to say one play was
so big with all the but that dunk that Porzingis
had that was the okay, it's time to get back
to blowout city. Because from that that point the Mavericks

(19:09):
we were reeling them back in and Luca was hitting
shots and they were finding ways against the Celtics defense.
But that dunk that changed everything. That put the Celtics
back on track for that blow out win. So in
an eighteen point win. Yeah, that was the biggest play
of the game.

Speaker 3 (19:23):
Yeah, we saw the creep happening, as we've seen so
often during the playoffs, right where teams don't roll.

Speaker 1 (19:30):
Over and die and put up the white flag.

Speaker 3 (19:32):
No, you'd see chipping away and bit by bit systematically,
sometimes very easy possessions as you mentioned Luca getting to
the rack. All right, there's an easy deuce and slowly
but surely it gets down to eight points and that's
at like four twenty four to twenty five left in
the in the Quarter's like, all right, we're at an
eight point game and then just like that, a minute

(19:55):
later you have that big dunk, and then it's empty
possession after empty possession, because once again porzingis not only
with getting the crowd back into it as the lead
starts to go, but on the defensive end, all of
a sudden.

Speaker 1 (20:08):
All those lanes are gone.

Speaker 3 (20:10):
Yeah right, everybody else gets to push a little bit
because he's there to patrol the middle of the lane.
And that's one of the things as much as the
offense is going to be broken down. And he was fantastic,
there's no question about it. Thirty foot jump shots, twenty
five foot jump shots, what he was doing as a
rim protector, shot alteration, Kyrie Irving, indecisive, getting in amongst

(20:32):
the trees. I mean, Porzingis was incomparable in that spot
and so huge to what they were able to do
defensively for the Celtics today.

Speaker 1 (20:41):
Tell you the two biggest concerns I had that what
makes me afraid if I the Mavericks off the game.
One is that if this is the Porzingis that the
Celtics are gonna get, I don't know how they win
a game because he clearly, if he's this healthy and
he's playing like this, and he can rim protect and
he can at threes. I don't know how the Mavericks
get on track enough offensively. Now that's a big if

(21:02):
because this is his first game back, a lot of adrenaline,
you hadn't played a lot. Are we gonna get this Porzingis?
He does get a couple of days off, and you
do have a couple of days off. But is he
gonna come out flat as a series goes on? Are
we gonna get this? Porzingis? So well, if you get it,
but you may get and that's gonna be it. But
bigger is that if this is what's gonna happen to
Kyrie Irving during the series. Again, I don't know that

(21:25):
the Mavericks are gonna win a game. Because this is
why I love my pick and Drew Holliday NBA Finals MVP.
I told you, and outside of Porzingis tonight, I would
feel great to look at Holiday because Holliday still had
a good game offensively, But look at Kyrie Irving. Horrible
game offensively, worst game of any Mavericks starter minus nineteen
to assist, whether it was Drew Holliday who was on
him for the majority or sometimes they would switch off

(21:47):
and you would get white on him and that would
cause problems. He was not that guy. And I told
you coming into the series, this is why I liked Holiday.
Is my value pick for MVP at sixty six to
one is because they're gonna decide who are we gonna
try to stop. We can beat the Mavericks if Luca
gets his points but nobody else does, we can win.

(22:09):
And Luca got his points right, thirty and fifteen, big night.
But look at Kyrie Irving six out of nineteen and
they lost by eighteen. This is what if this is
what they can do it. Drew Hollid's one of the
top three defensive players in the NBA. I mean still,
I mean he's that good. If this is what he
can do to Kyrie Irving, who again, this is the
most basketball he's played in a long long time. Is

(22:32):
he gonna hit the wall a little bit? And here's
Drew Holliday. Holliday's gonna win the MVP and the Mavericks
aren't gonna win a game.

Speaker 3 (22:38):
Yeah, looking at the way this game shook out, you
had a number of open looks for Kyrie en route
to that six of nineteen. As a team they went
what seven of twenty seven from three point range. Conversely,
you saw the Celtics shooting at a thirty eight percent
clip with more than double the three point makes and
the when we look at the Mavericks as you know,

(23:00):
pull it back out and again it's some box score reading,
but we were doing this in the second half as
we were on air to break it down. Is they're
not moving the ball right, Kyrie indecisive. So it's instead
of all right, there's a guy driving to the lane
or there's a spot up shooter, it was all right,
I need to just kick it back out because I'm
gonna get blocked or I'm gonna have to take a
bad shot and we're gonna have a rebounding problem down low.

(23:22):
And Lively was awful, like he was ineffective, out of
sorts and getting bumped off the block, very frustrated early on.
So a guy that you've been banking on who's been fantastic,
right Luca jokingly, you know, or maybe not so much,
you know, handing him, you know, the Western Conference Final
MVP award at the end of that series, Like that's

(23:44):
a guy that needs to step up too.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
For all of the Kyrie, Like, you got to find
some of these other guys that have been big contributors
to be more consistent for Kyrie. I think you'll get
some more shots to fall and they won't be as
stagnant again. Box score reading that nine assists nine assists
between Luca and Kyrie, they had a total of three assists.
Like the over under between them was probably fifteen and

(24:06):
a half. They had three because they didn't move the
ball and went to iso hero ball. I don't think
they do that again for game two, but certainly the
presence of Porzengis changes a lot of things in terms
of kicking the rim the lizard. We have that game,
fun game that I promise no coming up, and I

(24:27):
feel like the saga no no, and he just says no, no,
no no. I see I say now a guy who
bought pizza for everybody tonight, No no, didn't by pizza,
No no, no no. But it is Steve de Saeger
with what's trending Well.

Speaker 9 (24:41):
Boston dominated game one of the NBA Finals one oh
seven eighty nine. We mentioned earlier about the block shots
for one side. He called the assists for the Dallas side.
Apparently the nine assists for the MAVs, fewest in a
finals game in over fifteen years, but the only team
in the last fifty plus years to have less than

(25:03):
nine assists as a team in a finals game. Nick
Show nineteen ninety nine, New York Knicks eight assists against
San Antonio Spurs.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Game two of this series is at series Sunday night.

Speaker 9 (25:19):
Boston was up twenty nine in the first half to
night beat Dallas by eighteen. Jalen Brown scored twenty two
points twenty for Chris tops Porzingis off the bench. He'd
been out with a string caff since late April. Connecticut
coach Dan Hurley will meet with the Lakers tomorrow in
the WNBA. Just two games, Washington is zho to ten
after losing at home to Chicago. Washington will host two.

Speaker 1 (25:41):
To nine Indiana tomorrow.

Speaker 9 (25:43):
New York's record up to nine and two after a
victory at Atlanta's Stanley Cup Final starts Saturday at the
French Open. Number one Egos Fiantek swept Cocoa Golf in
a semi final. Golf plays her double semis tomorrow. Men
single semis are tomorrow, including number one Yannick Center of
Italy against Spain's Carl Alcarez. Adam Hadwin leads the Memorial

(26:03):
by one strokeover Scottie Scheffler. Oklahoma softball is one of
fourth straight national title, beating number one ranked Texas and
the finals tonight eight to four. The NCAA Baseball Tournament
Super Regional start tomorrow, best of three weekend series each.
The Kansas City Chiefs are re signing wide receiver Nicole Hartman.
Tampa Bay signed wide receiver Sterling Shepherd. Seattle is signing

(26:24):
quarterback p J. Walker. Three events this Saturday on Fox TV,
first baseball from London Phillies versus.

Speaker 1 (26:31):
Mets, then from New York to Belmont.

Speaker 9 (26:33):
Stakes, and then on Fox TV Saturday Night, Dodgers at Yankees.
The Yankees have now won eight in a row. They
beat Minnesota eight to five. There was a rain delay
after the fifth inning. They did finish the entire game eventually,
the Twins left eleven minut on base Minnesota went zero
to six against the Yanks this year. For New York,
though Juan Soto left this game tonight with a sore forearm.

(26:53):
You're eleve An Mri tomorrow. The White Sox have lost
fourteen games in a row, a franchise record, lost it
on fourteen two to Boston Tonight, the Red Sox with
twenty four hits the White Sox with just four. Colorado
only had four hits on offense, four for thirty, but
won the game at Saint Louis three to two, beating
pitcher Sonny Gray that ends Colorado's five game losing streak.

(27:14):
Arizona was a four to three winner at San Diego.
In fact, Arizona's won five of its last six. Padres
have dropped five in a row. Cincinnati won its fifth
straight game, eight to four over the Cubs, beating starter
Javier Aside, who had been four and one. Atlanta was
a five to two winner at Washington. That game was
tied two to two after seven about Adam Devall with
a two run homer, Marcelo Zuna with a late two

(27:36):
run homer, and the Braves get the win. Dodgers won
eleven to seven at Pittsburgh. Walker Bueller was LA starter,
no decision, three innings, three earned runs allowed, but three
run homers for Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts. Daytime wins
for Kansas City, Toronto and for Seattle, which won three
to nothing.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
At Oakland.

Speaker 9 (27:53):
Attendance was six thousand and five seventy one. As for
college football, did you notice the bowl schedule is out
now with the expanded playoff the final Saturday of December.
This season in college football will have eight bowl games
in one day, trying to get them all in because
once we get to the quarterfinals, for example, that's all

(28:16):
you got on New Year's is three quarterfinals, no other
bowl games. The Rose Bowl will have its usual slot
and be a quarterfinal every year. By the way the
NCAA did announce or finalize today, schools will be allowed
to place ads on the fields throughout this season, and
the CFL season open tonight Ladies and gentlemen with a

(28:36):
Montreal win a Winnipeg.

Speaker 6 (28:39):
No.

Speaker 9 (28:39):
Pretty much similar result. They had their preseason games in May,
and now a game tonight regular season and then one Friday,
one Saturday, one Sunday this opening weekend in the CFL.

Speaker 1 (28:51):
I just had my CFL fantasy draft, So I'm very
excited about now. Stick around because we have a game
that Frostburg's got for us, all right, all having to
do with Game one of the NBA Finals. Frostburg take
it away. Actually just gonna play all eleven Dodger runs
nicely done. Oh we'll play.

Speaker 4 (29:09):
Was this famous person slash celebrity in attendance for game
one of the NBA fires.

Speaker 1 (29:15):
Oh let's go all right, all right, go ahead, I'm
with you. Was this person there or not? Okay? Mac Jones?
Oh well wait no, no, no England, It's yeah, but
hang on no no, Mac Jones. Sorry he beat the
jat no. But he was on social media takes. He
took the picture I'll say no with like with a

(29:35):
with a.

Speaker 6 (29:37):
No.

Speaker 1 (29:38):
He had a he had like a photo shoot today
with the jag was a n game. The fact that
you know that, well, i'm gonna say no. Feed today
he was like posing with a convertible car. I'm gonna
say no. I'm gonna say no. He just said mac
Jones as a poser. Well there we go. See sometimes
I just fall on something. Would you say, Jason, Oh,

(29:58):
I'm sorry you want to play? This is a game?
I thought it wasn't fun enough for you know, you're
the fun you sure? He just clipped off that audio.
You just okay? All right? I said no. Mac Jones
was not at the game. I wanted to say no
to though all right, No, oh, you're all correct. That
game so I told you we had the photo shoot

(30:19):
the number two quarterback on a team as a photo chot.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Well, even if he was at the game, he wouldn't
count because he's not famous or celebrity.

Speaker 1 (30:26):
Number on a bad team. You forgotts right, here we
go very good.

Speaker 4 (30:31):
Was Ben Affleck and Matt Damon in attendance tonight, Well
they had to be right, No, no, well, I mean
I would have shown them.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
I see I see Ben Affleck every day with j Low.
They're getting divorced. They're not. They're getting divorced, they're not.
We leave them alone. Damon at the game.

Speaker 9 (30:48):
Matt Damon's probably waiting to go on Jimmy Kimmel right
after the game he got bumped.

Speaker 1 (30:52):
Yeah, yeah, you know, yeah, No, it's too tough. I
think I'm gonna say no. Yeah, Alex, you like apples? Steve?
Did you say no to I?

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Did?

Speaker 1 (31:06):
I like Steve's answers always the best? I'm say no,
All right, you guys were two for two? Yeah, there
we go, Okay. Jenny McCarthy Was Jenny McCarthy at the
game tonight? Oh yeah. Donnie Wahlberg's wife I'm sure Donnie
Wahlberg was fans. So I'm sure, Yeah, you didn't know that.
I've been married for a long time.

Speaker 9 (31:24):
Sorry, I've not kept on my Jenny trivia the last
twenty years, I dare you.

Speaker 3 (31:28):
I mean, it's been a long call the high school,
it's been outside of Chicago.

Speaker 1 (31:33):
Was there, So I'll say, yes, it's been a long
time since Jenny was canceled. I think there was nineteen
ninety eight. Uh so Donnie Wahlberg is there, Jenny McCarthy
is there? Yes, Yeah, I'll go with you. Yeah, dude,
Jenny from the block. I'm gonna say, yes, that's different one,
a different one. It could be the same, not the same,

(31:55):
not on the block. No, Jenny McCarthy Frosburg. She was
in attendance. Yeah, you know, she got in trouble for
the uniform she wore well back in the day in
a thing that made her famous. Was it a Mets jersey? No? No,
the original only fans Gino ari Ema. Oh you could

(32:16):
see there in attendance Gino Orima. Would they have really
showed Gino ori Emma during that Dan Hurley night, Oh yeah,
Dan Hurley Knight. He could be leaving. I'm gonna say sure. Yeah,
you're saying yeah, y'all say yeah, you know what. Gino
is definitely on his visible tour now doing interviews all

(32:36):
the want.

Speaker 3 (32:38):
Like I said, he was feeling left out of all
of these conversations.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Gino Orimo was there and left out of the final four.
Let's he was. He was, Yes, Geneo, gene no, no,
no one. You can run a screen and when you can't,
that's all it's all happens. Yeah, Jason also likes Gino Smith,
So yes, I'm gonna say yes, Gino Arimo was there. Yeah,
feeling good. Four for four, four for four? Four's up?

(33:02):
You are?

Speaker 9 (33:03):
Jones, Luisa ria Is, Jerry Jones, Jerry Jones.

Speaker 1 (33:06):
There, No, there's no way he left Dallas Footballs. Jerry Jones.
He's not gonna be there to cell A Brown unless
he was wearing a Larry Bird jersey rooting against the Celtic. Yeah,
it seems like I would have known this one. Nobody
can win besides the Cowboys. So I'm putting me up.
I'm putting X on the team right now. Got gotma
Lukafodu doll. Here we go, just sticking that sticking that. Yeah. No,

(33:27):
Jerry Jones not at the game. No, I like that.
He sounds like Beavis and Butteret. No, he was not there.
Busy opening a zoo. No, all right, five for to
see my monkeys. Yeah, I like bees down. One's zip.

Speaker 4 (33:48):
Dana White, Oh yeah, Boston.

Speaker 1 (33:52):
Definitely a chance him to wear a T shirt and
a baseball at in public. Yeah, a hundred percent. Dana
White was there. Yes, you guys all said the already yes, okay,
then yeah, all right. Because he doesn't know who Dana
White is.

Speaker 9 (34:05):
No, no idea Jason White's gonna play Dana White one day,
Jason White. Jason Smith's gonna play Dana White. Where Jason
White could play former Oklahoma quarterback. He's not doing anything
trophy winners. I'm convinced Dana White is just Joe Rogan.

Speaker 1 (34:18):
Uh. I've never seen a picture of them together.

Speaker 9 (34:22):
Da White without Joe Rogan. Okay, all right, And it
was out of Boston.

Speaker 2 (34:26):
Five.

Speaker 4 (34:26):
Oh you say so, you say Dana White was an attendance.

Speaker 1 (34:30):
Yeah, one more, alright, one more. I want to go
seven for seven. We was Tom Brady in attendance tonight?

Speaker 3 (34:41):
No they no, no, no, Tom Brady could do that,
I might say no.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
What if you blinked, Steve? That possible? I did bank
often during the two hours of the game. I'm gonna
say no on Tom Brady the second quarter. No for
Tom Brady. No, no, because Brady would have been sitting
courtside with some supermodel that the war would have come
over and they would have shown them chatting. Yes, they
would Mark Wahlberg. Yeah, they would have see they got

(35:07):
the other wall. Best ever. He would have said it again,
right in his face. Best ever. Tom Brady was not there.
Tom Brady could do that. Though he could, he was
not there. He was not seven seven Frostburg. I like
this game one two coming up next six. We are
gonna close with a flourish because apparently there's evidence Angel

(35:30):
Hernandez might not be retired. Whoa, whoa, that's next Fox
and now it's.

Speaker 7 (35:39):
The Magic Johnson. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten
pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific, Fox.

Speaker 1 (35:48):
Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend
Mike Harmon. Okay, let me stop you right there. The
Mets suck. We're a lot from the tire rack dot
com Studios and uh now, Jason, Hey, the Mets take
London see the the Philly fanatic pictures. Uh, it's everywhere now,

(36:09):
Buckingham Palace. Meanwhile, I'm sure mister and missus Metta being
held captive somewhere. I mean I didn't see them anyway.
I saw them photoshopped into the European dates of the
Taylor Swift tour. Maybe you know, maybe maybe mister met
they couldn't fit his head. You know, where do you
put it? Well, I cost extra put that on a
on a plane. Yeah, but you gotta that's gotta go

(36:30):
with the luggage. You can't put that overhead. There's no
way that head hits in there. But I mean think
about the extra security. I mean the extra tissue, paper
and and and foam and everything. You've got to have
to put that in. You can't put that in through
the extra machine exactly. It's not a carry out.

Speaker 3 (36:45):
No, you gotta send it in parts. We have to
reassemble it. But then it becomes like the whole Darth Vader.

Speaker 1 (36:55):
Meanwhile, I know we had thought that Angel Hernandez had
retired from Major League baseball, but apparently maybe he didn't. Uh,
the Mets are three games out of a wild card
thanks to this play that ended the Padres game this evening.
Let me give you the particulars. So the Padres, who

(37:16):
right now are holding onto the final wildcard spot in
the National League, they were trailing the Diamondbacks four to three.
Ninth inning. Paul sewald X met on the mound to
close with the Diamondbacks and Jake Croninworth is up runner
at second. So okay, hey, wait a minute, we got
some things going on here, tying runner at second, two outs,
two and two count, and this is how the game ended.

Speaker 2 (37:42):
Straight, three, five, And then that's the ballgame. And that
was not close to being a strong horribly right out
of the kid's hands. It wasn't even close. That's not
Dan and Mudd.

Speaker 1 (38:02):
Do you really feel about that? Go God, that was
Steve Garvey. No, that was the Hadres Radio network. And
you could see this pitch to cronin Worth and it's
not even close. It's above the belt. And crona is
not a small dude, like you know, he goes at
least six feet tall. This ball is above his belt.

(38:22):
And that hasn't been a striking Major League baseball in forty. Yeah,
by the letter of the law. It's fine by what's
actually called on a game to game basis. And this
is where it's gonna get really exciting with the robot
umpires of defining what a strike zone is once again
right in terms of you know, from the knees to

(38:43):
the letters was what was always in the books, hadn't
been called that way as long as I've been alive.
That is a ball. That is ball three, three and two. Account.
Eric Bacchus is your home played umpire, and he's the
one relation Jim beckis just like Jim Bacchis. It's the cactus.
He calls strike three and it's again, it's not even close.

(39:04):
It's not even close to thright three. And I'm going, Wow,
maybe we're filling the Angel Hernandez void as already.

Speaker 3 (39:10):
And you keep calling strikes like that, you'll be like
Jim Mackis and you'll be a catched away on Gilligan's.

Speaker 1 (39:15):
Oh like, yeah, let's go. I like that he brought
his money with him. Yeah, we're bringing briefcases. Trust anybody
bringing money to the hold.

Speaker 9 (39:23):
Of money ruing it horribly horrible.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Put the bat right out of the kid's hands right,
put that right on of the kid's hands. I mean
that was that was a horrendous call. But right somewhere
Angel Hernda is going, yeah, you tell him strike three. Yeah,
I would have called.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
But in those rankings that we kept hearing about, where
Angel Hernandez was want in the twenty second percent of ye,
what the hell is this guy?

Speaker 1 (39:50):
Oh maybe below, maybe below, or maybe he's actually great,
but hey, you know, Angel Hernanda is getting a lot
of attention. He would get a lot of attention. Every
night he would trend people new his nameless I'm gonna
fill the Angel Hernandez void. Now I'm gonna.

Speaker 3 (40:04):
Rip the mask off and started doing a Leslie Nielsen strad.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
He ripped it off. And it's like when de Niro
was the homeplatee Umpire at the end of the fan
Wait a minute, what's going on? It's sorry spoiler. I
always loved that movie. I saw that in the theater.
I only had one problem with that movie. I had
one problem was probably had one problem. One problem, which
was that problem. It was stupid, stupid. The movie was stupid.

(40:31):
It ends it by Mey. De Niro somehow becomes the
homeplate umpire come on, man, Man, Man damn was a goalie.
He becomes it. Well least he had hid behind him. Man,
he can see without me the whole plate, the mask.
Come on, man, both man had masks. Calls him out
at the plate and takes some masks. Moby Oh, exit

(40:52):
out about in front. I like to Wesley Snipes would
wear his brave jersey under the giants. Coming up next,
my buddy Ben Mallar. This is Fox Sports Radio. Poor
zingis yo. And now it's the map.
