so far. It's been a weekend, it's been a night,
it's been a day. It's a lot going on.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Man.
Speaker 1 (01:23):
You know, boy, I said to myself after yes, I'm
going okay, no matter what happens, there's no way the
Jets can top the Mets from today. But boy, they
gave it a shot. Man, the Jets, They really did.
They said, no, no, no, no, no, you think that
will break your heart? Just wait, do you see us
on Monday night with the turnovers and the penalties, Yeah,
you'll love that.
Speaker 3 (01:42):
Thirteen penalties, couple that were suspect, three turnovers, all fumbles
lost including one on really what was probably the best
drive that you'd have this entire year.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
You would hang that in the love. Oh sure, until
he dropped the ball at the one and then you're not.
Then you're not. Then it goes to the trash. Yeah,
then you're you're not doing it.
Speaker 3 (02:03):
Maybe it shows up in some you know, somebody's a bunker,
but picked from the trash. But Grete twelve play drive
commanding one of the only times you had a sequence
where you woren't taken back five yards. I mean, that
was a very uncomfortable watch for a while. On both sides.
(02:23):
You have five yards no.
Speaker 1 (02:24):
No, no, no, I want to give you those five
yards back.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
It's like, okay, now we've wasted five minutes a game
clock and then it's we're running in place, which is stupid.
Speaker 1 (02:34):
And now everybody's cluing into the fact. Oh so this
is why Jason and Mike kept saying last week, don't
say the team's on Monday night, just say those games watch,
don't Hey, who's playing? Now? We got more NFL coming
up in a few minutes, but major League Baseball the
playoffs start to start tomorrow. And yes, okay, this on
the Mets before we get to the playoffs, because so
(02:56):
after I mean, I couldn't even get on social media yesterday.
Is everything was just what and and credible. You would
think the Mets were like the Tigers. The Tigers gave
away a fifteen and a half game lead and squeaking
into the playoffs the way they did.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
I have knowledge though, that for a while the Mets
had the best record in basement, yeah they did, no,
but but then the thing is, for a longer time
we were one of the worst teams in base bottom
five records after terrible and yes, we're absolutely terrible.
Speaker 1 (03:21):
Now, first thing I want to say is this, it's
too bad. Nobody saw it coming. Oh wait, I did
again in April when I said to you this, right,
we talked about why the Mets, why the Mets collapsed
all of these bad things? Is number one, Defensively they're terrible, right,
I'm with David Stearns who gave us Prescott. Defensively, they're terrible.
But what did I say in April? This rotation plan
(03:42):
is great? But what's gonna happen when all of these
guys hit the wall in August? Because they're all at
their innings limits? Right? Codai Sanga hasn't really pitched in
two years. What's gonna happen in August? When he hits
the skids and all of a sudden he hits the wall?
And it was earlier and a guy who was your ace,
you couldnt even put him out there?
Speaker 3 (04:00):
Right?
Speaker 1 (04:00):
Uh Shauman? And I was never healthy, right, Frankie Montas
never healthy? What's gonna happen Clay Holmes when he hits
the wall in August because he's never started before in
his career? What's got what happened? Clay Holmes hit the wall? Right,
what's gonna happen when all these guys you're counting on
Tyler McGill, Oh, guess what hurt out for the season? Everybody, everybody,
all the guys they brought in. Griffin Canning would have
hit the wall as well, but he got hurt earlier
(04:21):
this year. What's gonna happen when you get to August
and all of these guys are done? And that's exactly
what happened. The Mets got to August where they kind
of look they everything went as well as it could
the first couple of months, did not go great the
next couple months, but then they're where they should have been,
probably in August. But now they can't get out of
it because all their pitching just falls apart all at once. Yeah,
(04:42):
but then Danny McLean got called up and came and else.
I told you in April this was gonna happen. That's
what's so frustrated. I'm watching and I'm watching us day
going this is just everything that I This is the
worst nightmare. And of course all that's going through my
head is to catch Martin makes for the Reds last
week Alonzo. It's one hundred and fifty mile an hour
line drive to left field that has caught for the
(05:04):
final out of an inning. It's just just tell what
was coming. It's like the like the baseball God said, sorry, Mets,
We're gonna wear this collapse and wear it worse than
any other team in recent memory. And that's what yesterday was.
NFL Sunday social media is owned by look at the
collapse of the Mets and the Reds, who are just
basically like the Reds only have seven guys with their team,
(05:24):
and look at them. They're in the playoffs, right, Don't worry, Jaer,
you better beat the Reds at two gigs well, because
but that's the other thing is it stares in stark
contrast to what we have here. For those unaware, we
do the show from the greater Los Angeles area and
we're surrounded by a lot of Dodger fans and and hi,
everybody listening out a five seventy LA sports Mike. What
(05:45):
does Vegas say?
Speaker 3 (05:47):
I gotta I gotta pull up the Vegas odds as
we speak. But when we look at the way this
season went for the Dodgers, it became a can you
weather the storm until your pitching gets better, whereas you
were always waiting for it to fall off?
Speaker 1 (06:02):
Yeah? Right, yeah?
Speaker 3 (06:03):
And then the only you know, the biggest component of
once he started pitching was all right, how many starts
are left? Was Clayton Kershaw and he ends up pitching
to a two five three e ern in his final seats.
Speaker 1 (06:13):
Left off the wild card round. Look for the Mets
and the Jets, it's the same thing. My teams say.
It's they wait around for something bad to happen, and
that's really what it was. But Jason and today go ahead,
Well quick, I wish you weren't lying to us when
you say this, but you absolutely are, because the first
three months of the season you were actually peacocking every
(06:34):
single segment who has the best record in baseball? Because
we did. And then we were the best record in
baseball and they were the worst. Oh, there's no way
you actually believed that they were gonna tank. There's no way.
I didn't think they'd be I told you three months
ago they weren't going to make the playoffs. He thought,
I was crazy. Not the night for this, Frostburg, Not
the night for this, Okay, not the night tomorrow night. Fine,
not the night for this to be.
Speaker 3 (06:52):
To be fair, I think you were just trying to
see if you can induce an aneurysm.
Speaker 1 (06:56):
Hey, but I hit, but it is scared just seeing
how bad was It's awful. And again I'm not great, Bob,
not great, not great, butch, I'm pretty far from over
the fundamentals, right, like we're talking about with your jets.
It's like when it's the clean clean up the corners
that you're not doing. When they decided to bring Carlos
Mendoza back today and I saw that from David Searns
(07:18):
and I just said, uh, great. And it's not that
I think it's all Carlos Mendoza's fault, even though his
pitching plans were terrible, right, that's the one thing like
his pitching plans and sticking with the guys he's started,
and it doesn't he have anybody he can I mean,
could yeah, continue to put Ryan Staneck out there when
he was terrible. But these are all like things unique,
unique to the Mets. But when he Here's the thing
(07:40):
is that sometimes a collapse is so bad that even
if the players do, the are responsible for it and
the manager that's responsible for it. Are talented and are
good people. You still have to move on from them.
You gotta move on because you got to put this
stink in the rear view mirror. And some not every Hey,
(08:01):
we lost a game at the end, we missed the playoffs.
But sometimes collapses are so bad, and this collapse was
so bad, right the Mets, All what did he seen
all day today? Look at the top salaries in Major
League Baseball three hundred and thirty million dollars this year.
The Mets didn't make the playoffs. Sometimes a collapse is
so bad that you need to just clean house and
move on. And the Mets, Carlos Mendoza should be gone.
(08:23):
You gotta let Pete a Lonzo walk. You have to
try to trade Nimo McNeil. There needs to be so
many new players next year because this collapse is just
gonna continue to hang over the team. And and you
know Mendoza, Hey, is he a bad manager?
Speaker 4 (08:37):
No?
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Could he have been done a better job this year? Yeah,
but you need to say, we have to have a
fresh start next year. And no matter what happens next year,
the first four game losing streak should Carlos Mendoza still
be the guy, and the Mets are gonna go, oh,
we're just gonna relive this over and over again. You
need to put as much distance as you can between
your team and the stink of this season. That's why
(08:58):
when they said yeah and don't coming back, I'm like, dude,
I get it. I get that he's a good guy
and that's but certainly they were missing stuff and all
it's gonna be is the same group next year coming
in that you're gonna say, Okay, no one, we're gonna
turn it around next year. No, you need you need
bold strokes. And there only needs to be a handful
of guys on the team from this year because you
can't trade Lindor. They've got to move them to the
(09:18):
second base. Can't play short stuff anymore. Sodo's gonna be back.
Alvarez like, how many guys can you?
Speaker 2 (09:23):
Can?
Speaker 3 (09:23):
You say?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Even Diaz is saying he might opt out. Okay, you
gotta go. Then then you go Diez, Okay, you need
to you No, No, I can't, you can't. We've had
the best of pen Alonzo. Can't bring him back the year.
Gotta let him go.
Speaker 3 (09:35):
We always talk about things in baseball, right you've cited
Jason Stark telling you, hey, we always see stuff that
you've never seen in your life. So CHOEO Toddi hits
his fifty fifth first guy in Major League Baseball history
to end the season with fifty five home runs. But
that Mets stat that started circulating to me still is
just the most amazing stat of all time ohen seventy
(09:57):
when trailing after not one win, that one rally they
had just.
Speaker 1 (10:01):
Won, flying in the air. Nope, just one game. We're
done with teams like this. We're done, and they would
have We're done. Talk something people want to want to
hear about, you think people Mets. Of course they want
to hear about more. People want to hear about the
Mets in the playoffs. It's so embarrassing. I like the
(10:22):
embarrassing story. So embarrassing. I bet you they don't. It's
it's absolutely embarrassing. Look at him twitch. But I will
say this because I do want to say, listen, I
told you about the Mets in in in in April,
and what did I tell you last week? You know,
to flip this to the playoffs, what did I tell you?
Blake Snell is going to start Game one for the Dodgers. No, no, no,
yell has got no Blake Snell with I'm staying in
(10:43):
the game. Sorry, Dave Roberts, you you send you send
back to the bullpen. I'm staying in the game. This
is where Blake Snell became a Dodger, and you give
them the ball in game one of the playoffs. This
is absolutely the right call. He's the right guy to
pitch game one because he's someone you want pitching as
much as possible in this series. Right, however long you know, look,
(11:04):
obviously it's a shorter series. Okay, we get it, but
you want him going in game one. You don't want
to sit back and say, well we'll start Yellamoto in
game one. No, Blake Snell in game one. Who you
have the most confidence in in the playoffs? Who have
we seen before do it in the playoffs? Blake Snell.
He's absolutely the right guy to start game one. He's
just start game one of every series for the Dodgers
(11:24):
so we can pitch the most. He is a playoff guy, right,
He's not quite Madison Bumgarner. But if you said who
could be the next Madison Bumgarner, that's Blake Snell. He
is the guy they picked the right guy to start game.
Speaker 3 (11:35):
Ohst season pitching twelve career games, ten starts, four and three,
record three thirty three eer A one two five whip
going owing neck to the point though, right, you talk
about your mets and their arms falling off and being unavailable.
Blake Snell eleven regular season starts for the Dodgers and
(11:56):
got really strong in September. Yeah, guys, right now, because you.
Speaker 1 (12:02):
Don't want them to get to get too tired to
pitch too much over the course of the season, run
out of gas in September and October, because that happens. Hey,
here's a guy who's been a veteran thirty years old, right, okay, perfect,
This is when he should be at his best. This
should be like the normal. The normal best for pitchers
usually as they're great, is in the middle of the season,
when they get into that that big run because they're
(12:24):
throwing the ball well, they're playing well, they're approaching every
fifth day with confidence. You get to July and August.
These guys are normally terrific, but because of the strain
in their arms, they don't pitch as much as they
used to. Now September and October become I.
Speaker 3 (12:35):
Don't know, but that becomes the amazing thing for this, right,
you cite all the guys getting ready to pitch for
the Dodgers, none of them have one hundred innings except
for Holmimoto.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Yeah yeah, I mean look that you would think the
starting pitching now, they'd be able to go a little
bit deeper into games and and and not have that
bullpen because the less the dodgerable I know, Dave Roberts
has that itchy they tell it, what, the less you
have on that bullpen, the better chance you have to win, right,
because if you that bullpen is absolutely they are untrustworthy.
(13:05):
There's not one person you can trust in that bullpen,
just one. You know what they left Tanner, Scott off.
You can trust Asaki, maybe you can, but the less
than that bullpen have better off it. Yes, let's yes,
I really thought kershawould be closed. Maybe next round he'll
be on, he'll be on the thing. But uh, look,
(13:25):
if you were looking at a series right with with
all four series starts set to start tomorrow, we got
a big quadruple header in baseball. If you said to me, hey,
who's the visiting team that can pull the upset in
the first round. I actually I absolutely have one for
you because we talk about how how big the bullpen is.
I'll take the Padres over the Cubs in the first
(13:46):
round series because of their bullpen, because as good as
it is, they they made it stronger at the deadline.
This is when it starts to really become an issue.
And if your bullpen is lacking, wow, it becomes a
real achilles heel because you get into it every single day.
And yes, some teams have strong bullpens, right and they
get struck. But the Padres bullpen is just so good,
(14:09):
you know they can't wait to get to their bullpen. Right.
It's one of one of the old times when hey,
this game is getting kind of short, you know, like
you would look at hey, Yankee games or eight innings
because you're getting Rivera in the ninth, right, Like it's.
Speaker 3 (14:20):
Gonna be so difficult. You only have six outs before
you hear saying man, like.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
You're the you're if you're if you're playing the podters,
Like we have six innings before we get to the guys,
before we get to the dudes, right, six innings before
we get to the dudes. So if you're looking, I'm
looking for the visiting team to pull the upset. Give
me the Padres over the Cups. Yeah, I'm gonna get cheeky.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
I can't I can't pick that one because people just say, oh,
you just hate the Cubs, which may may may not
be true. I'm gonna take the Red Sox over the Yankees,
get win tomorrow and sends New York into a spiral again.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
When your dad's not listening, No, my dad's gonna show
up and hit Harmon in the face with something like
a pie.
Speaker 3 (14:56):
I got this batting hill and I'm gonna put back on. Hey,
I'm gonna put a man.
Speaker 1 (15:00):
I brought a pie. If here's in your birthday next month, Yeah,
you're probably the great. And then he's gonna hit you.
That's what he's gonna do. Blue, My dad will do that.
And he was glorious. Exit out by to Frasca, Exit

that's not happening.
Speaker 4 (15:53):

Speaker 1 (17:00):
What looking for?
Speaker 2 (17:02):
Look to find FS one on your television. Go to
Foxsports dot com for details.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Has one looking for?
Speaker 1 (17:11):
Look at a Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show
with my best friend Mike Harmon live from the Fox
Sports Radio Studios. I didn't have the biggest NFL story
(17:31):
of week four, being bad Money. Oh sorry, being bad Bunny,
being bad Money playing halftime in the Chason It's it's
bed Bun, bad Bun. It's I said it's bad Bunny.
It's Bad Money. I gotta get it's bad Bunny. I
didn't have Bad Bunny being halftime being the big story,
but yet it has been everywhere today and I get
(17:53):
and to take in a different direction because I think
this is the more interesting part. Yeah, I get that
any every every every star favors one of the two
political parties. Right, Everybody has their own choices, right, Sometimes
I keep it to myself, but it's easy to find out.
So of course, whoever you pick, it's gonna be, Oh,
this guy's terrible because we should boycott his music. And
(18:13):
the other side says, what I mean, it's just stupid, right,
But the better question, honestly, and I can't because this
is an epic failed by the NFL. Not the bad
Bonnie is not a great get. But how did we
not get Taylor Swift? Really? Like, this was two weeks
ago at the Big Press Conference, Roger Goodell talking about
Taylor Swift. Oh, we'd love to get Taylor, so it's
(18:35):
a definite. Maybe he's on the view And he said,
oh maybe, Like he's not saying that unless he's pretty confident.
Taylor Swift is going to play halftime with the super
Bowl and it's a good time again. Politically, she's not
as politically polarizing as she was during the election, and
she's more got the hug of NFL fans that she
(18:55):
didn't get from everybody before. She's the biggest star on
the planet. It's a win win. She goes to this,
she does the super Bowl, we talk about it becomes
the highest rated super Bowl, the highest rated halftime show
they could possibly have How did this get fumbled with?
Probably was on the one yard line. Now what we've
heard and these are not this is not She not
talked about this, NFL talked about this, but potentially what
(19:17):
it could have been was ownership of the performance, ownership
of the of the video and what what she does, which,
if you're the NFL, what the hell do you care?
What hell do you It's a halftime performance. It's not
the game. It's a halftime brother, Let her own it, right,
Don't you want to? Don't you want to sit back
and say, Hey, highest rated super Bowl of all time,
More people watching the halftime performance of Taylor Swift that
(19:39):
ever watched the football game ever in the history of
the end of a Don't you want that? Like you really?
That's what got hung up on with let her own it?
What does it matter? What does it matter if she
owns a performance or not. I don't I get Oh,
we're setting a precedent. You know, it's Taylor Swift. She's
the biggest star on the planet, right and if it
is that way you can get big stars. Let them
on the What is it? What does it matter? How
do you not get Taylor Swift in the time? To
(20:01):
get Taylor Swift when it's at the hottest moment, the
hottest apex to engage with Travis Kelsey's probably his last
year in the NFL. How do you fumble this at
the one yard line and it's not Taylor Swift doing halftime?
Speaker 3 (20:12):
Chiefs will be playing in the game. I mean, all
of that stuff, it all adds up as you flow through.
A new album comes out on Friday, obviously, all the
pre releases, I mean some of it is certainly from
a straight business perspective, as you see the number of
vinyls and CDs. I remember the last release The Poets
(20:35):
was a number of artists got compensated because they needed
to produce vinyl and there was a shortage, so it's like, hey,
can you print yours? And put your album out a
couple months later. We'll pay for the costs of printing
so that we can get more Taylor vinyl done. Okay, sure,
let's do that. But now you have this situation, and
I have to wonder if in your demographics she didn't
(20:56):
look at it and say, well, a vast majority of
folks that were to watch are still going to watch,
regardless they're football people and they're not. They're already here.
Adding Taylor Swift, is it going to move that needle
to the same level as someone coming from a different culture,
a different style of music, a different background. We have
(21:17):
no idea what kind of collaborations are to come from this.
It'll be curious to see, you know, how the the
lineup shapes up.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
I'll be honest with you. You know a lot a lot
of stuff.
Speaker 3 (21:26):
As we always say, we watch it and some of
it if you don't like it.
Speaker 1 (21:30):
If you don't like it, don't watch.
Speaker 3 (21:31):
But the other is it not everything is tailored for
me or you or those that we know. Right, so,
you're trying to figure out how you're growing the game,
right we you're lamenting your fantasy end date because of
more interactional games.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
I'm not getting up at six thirty in the morning
to check my line. And I don't care the Jalen
warrant thing Piscato this weekend, man.
Speaker 3 (21:54):
But it's the point that trying to reach into new
markets with bed Bunn the same thing up.
Speaker 1 (22:02):
But dude, okay, I'll nobody feels bad for you and
nobody cares about your fans. This is okay, No, this
is bigger than that. This is when they when the
the NFL goes to nobody. Jalen Warren is a big
you know what, shut up frost Burn Jeffs just started
shut up. Uh, they lost it to up. This is
(22:23):
I know the two again again, Jets. He's the greatest
quarterback of all time, undefeated, but you can build a
little does this Jersey go to the Hall of Fame?
Ye for dominating him in front of me. But he
could be better than Marino against the Jets. I guarantee
you he has lost a game, right, I don't think
I don't think he has. No, I don't think he has.
He's from Marino again, especially down there in Florida, and
(22:46):
didn't have Tyreek Hill for the majority of the game,
and all this stuff. Bad things man. Uh, but the
really the whole bad Bunny thing. I'm like, I was
surprised when that came out today and and it was
all of it was a point. It was gonna be
Taylor Swift, and really you couldn't come to an agreement
with Taylor Swift on this, like like the NFL, like
(23:07):
because the Chiefs saw I don't get how how this
was something that for you, Okay, we're not gonna have
Taylor Swift because she wants to own her perform it.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
I like the back and that they have this massive
audience for the Packers and the Cowboys, like, hey, let's
drop this into because you needed to give the uh
the halftime show announcement in the middle of all that.
Speaker 1 (23:29):
Thousand times I would exit up about a Fresco exit
swollen down the Jason Smith Show with my best friend
Mike Harmon. We got more coming up in ninety seconds.
But first, the man who's been called the bad Bunny
of Fox Sports Radio about that international superstar. Oh, I'll
(23:50):
get to talk to you at halftime with the Super Bowl.
It's Steve de Seger and I'll be speaking Spanish.
Speaker 6 (23:55):
Miami beat the Jets twenty seven to twenty one Jets
with three fumbles thirteen penalties. Nick Folk and the Jets
did have field goals of fifty to fifty eight yards,
but the Dolphins led seventeen to three early in the
third quarter. Jordan Brooks, linebacker for the Dolphins, eighteen tackles
in this game. Dvon Hn ninety nine yards rushing in
a touchdown. The bad news for Miami wide receiver Tyreek
(24:17):
Hill was carted off with a dislocated knee. NFL Network
points out he could have multiple ligament tears. Hill tonight
had six receptions sixty seven yards to a Tonga bay
loa two touchdown passes to Darren Waller. Quarterback Justin Fields
did start for the Jets. He's out of concussion protocol.
He had an impressive touchdown run. In fact, seven carries
eighty one yards won td pass as well, but the
(24:38):
Jets are zero to four. Denver beat up Cincinnati twenty
eight three bow Nicks, three total touchdowns, one interception, three
hundred and twenty six yards passing.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
JK.
Speaker 6 (24:48):
Dobbins now with the Broncos this year, sixteen carries one
hundred one yards rushing. The Bengals were just awful eleven penalties,
eight punts, no touchdowns. Broncos had twenty nine first downs
and over five hundred yards of offense against them. The
Bengals after the field goal on the first drive, had
nine drives, only five first downs, and only ninety seven
(25:10):
yards after the opening drive. Giants wide receiver Molik Neighbors
is out for the year where the torn acl. Giants
owner John Marris says he's being treated for cancer. The
Ravens declined to give an update on quarterback Lamar Jackson's
hamstring injury. Baltimore defensive tackle non Di Mattabike is out
for the year with a neck injury due to miss
multiple weeks for the Ravens, defensive back Marlon Humphrey and
(25:32):
linebacker Rokwan Smith due to injuries. Forty nine Ers quarterback
Brock Party was estimated at not practicing today due to
his toe injury, and wide receiver Ricky Pearsol has a
knee injury. San Francisco plays Thursday at the Rams. Washington
says wide receiver Terry McLaurin, with his quad injury, is
trending toward playing this weekend. Washington will be at the
Chargers Sunday Chargers tackle Joe Alt could miss multiple weeks
(25:55):
with a high ankle. Spring Charger tackle Shaun Slater is
already out for the year year, and guard Mackay Beckton
has a concussion. The Browns acquired tackle Cam Robinson from
the Texans. Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochie will not be returning,
but there is an opening with the Giants now. They
fired manager Bob Melvin today. The Twins fire probably still
(26:16):
has all his Giants gear. He could just go back
a yeah, yeah, and a chance for another championship and
then sub five hundred finish and then maybe another championship.
Speaker 1 (26:24):
Ever the other year.
Speaker 6 (26:25):
Yeah, you know, Bruce Bochi has a losing record. It's
kind of amazing. But of course, like Eli Manning, he's
going to the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 1 (26:33):
He also has a really big head.
Speaker 6 (26:35):
Oh that goes without saying, so obviously he belongs in
San Francisco, the home of Barry Bonds. The Minnesota Twins
fired manager Rockoball Delhi after seven years there. The Mets
Carlos Mendoza will return for a third season.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
Yay.
Speaker 6 (26:48):
The Pirates gave entrant skipper Don Kelly the job full time.
The Diamondbacks will reportedly keep manager Tory Lavello for a
tenth season. The Dodgers will start pitcher Blake's Now and
tomorrow night's playoff opener against the Reds and against pitcher
Hunter Green at LA. Native Yoshinobu Yamamoto will start Wednesday
night's Game two for LA. Pitcher Roki Sosaka is on
(27:09):
the Dodger roster this week. It'll formerly be submitted in
the morning, but Clayton Kershaw is not. He will be
added for the next round if his team advances to Philadelphia.
The news on Dodger catcher Will Smith, who's been out
with a broken hand. He did take batting practice tonight
trying to return. The Cubs game one starter as Matthew
Boyd as they host the Padres. Boston pitcher Lucas Giolito
(27:31):
out this week with a sore elbow. The Red Sox
play a best of three at the Yankee starting Tuesday.
Yanks have won eight in a row and Red Sox
third baseman Alex Bragman should play this week despite an
illness over the weekend.
Speaker 1 (27:42):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve o Now the nightcap game,
we watched the Broncos beat the Bengals pretty handily. No thanks,
I don't wear one. I feel better about the Bronco
Remember I pick Broncos charges my AFC champions. I feel
better about the Broncos, And I said, look, they have
a lot of new pieces in places. This is a
year for them to just continue to grow. They'll be
(28:02):
a much better team. They'll be a really they'll win
machine like games by the time we get to the
midway point of the season. So I feel better about them,
especially the way their defense played tonight. For the Bengals,
it's time to pull that emergency switch. You need to
go out tonight and get a quarterback. Right, You're two
and two and Joe Burrow is not coming back until
(28:25):
the end of the season. Maybe he comes back, maybe
a little bit in December if you have something to
play for. But maybe, and likely he's done for the season.
But you paid a lot of guys this year, right,
you gave Trey Hendrickson all that extra money you paid
t Higgins. You paid a lot of money for this year.
And clearly your offense is terrible, right, I mean Browning
has looked and this offense has looked abysmal. Chase brown
(28:46):
has been worse than just a guy. Jamar Chase frustrated
as hell tonight. You saw him talking to Zach Taylor
on the sideline like this offense is not doing anything
right and this is a far cry from the team.
It was a couple of years ago when Browning came in,
when Burrow got hurt, and Browning was, Okay, this is
really bad. Now you're two and two. It's not like
(29:06):
you're zero to four in the season's ending and it's like, well,
but you gotta go get somebody now, because you still
have a talented enough team to say, hey, maybe if
this works and the Joe Burrow coming back is the
pie and the sky when we're working towards like we
have that in our you know, ahead of us in December. Hey,
let's keep playing hard. Maybe Joe comes back, but you
(29:27):
gotta go get somebody. You can't just keep continue to
trot this product out here and think it's gonna be good.
Your playmakers are extremely frustrated. This is when you say, okay,
who are the backup quarterbacks we can go out there
and get Should we go out and take a chance
on Anthony Richardson? Yeah, should we make a call about
kirk Cousins. Let's see if absolutely kirk Cousins is done
or if we think he can do something here. As
(29:48):
much as I hate Russell Wilson and think he's done,
boy him throwing that moonball with Jamar Chase, that might work, right,
there are guys out there that you can go get
because you have to. You have no choice. It's not
like maybe the guy you get is gonna be enough.
I know whoever they get's gonna be a uptick over
who they have. Now. You can't hope that Brownie is
gonna get it. At some point. This has been really
bad and this can get bad fast. So I know
(30:11):
that he did it before. But if you're if you're
the Bengals, what are you gonna do? If Browning doesn't
get it, You're gonna continue to throw it empty games,
b You have to go get somebody else, if at
least to say, hey, someone's coming in, learn the offense,
and then you can take over if Browning is bad. Right,
This is where Russell Wilson would say, absolutely, I'll go
to the Bengals and I'll come in. I won't start
(30:31):
right away, but you know it's over. You're standing over
his shoulder. And if Browning is good, okay, it works
out for you. If not, you have somebody to go
to before the season gets completely out of control. Sports
psychologists send him in and go. Remember when you were
just winging it around like you didn't have any expectations
and everything was light and breezy, you know, twenty twenty three.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Yeah, be that guy again. Just get out there and
play football. Seventy six points allowed the last two weeks
and the loss is just kind of throw it out there.
A lot of that Minnesota damage done and by their
defense against Browning and company. H Today we watched similar
they he was wearing guys like a suit as that
game war on and that's not getting any better. We
(31:10):
we talked about it even before Joe Burrow got hurt,
before this season even began. They didn't do anything to
address the offensive line. It was still gonna be terrible defensively.
You have Hendrickson and a whole lot of nothing. And
at one point he went over to the sideline. You
could see the concerned looks of everybody that he went
down because he was down. On one team, the coach
got in front of him and you could see him
(31:31):
Miley were was like, what's up?
Speaker 1 (31:33):
You all right?
Speaker 3 (31:34):
And he came back, but you paid him for this year.
So the question should be guns, do you bring in
a quarterback thinking you're gonna save what this is, whatever
this is, or do you say screw it, find someone
that wants Hendrickson for the rest of.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
The Well, that's something you can you can see how
that goes when you get closer and push push foot
at least now you want you want to say, hey,
let's let's let's try it. Now you know what the
next two games are, now Detroit and then green Bay. Yeah,
now green Bay doesn't have much of a pass rush,
but you're gonna need some points in those games. You're
gonna you're gonna need some points.
Speaker 3 (32:07):
No, no, no, that's what I mean. Though, you're like some
polas for this week, they're flying around. We adn't avoid
Nadan Hutchinson, who avoided it scare himself for all the
injuries we had, right and then obviously Green Bay was
still wondering what they are at this point on both ends.
But when we look at the Bengals, yeah, it's it's
a miserable experience that Kirk Cousins. You figure out the money,
(32:30):
Russell Wilson, just throw it up and let these guys
go make plays.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
Jamar Chase had five catches for twenty three yards today.
I mean that's and and what Chase Brown of thirty
yards rushing and twenty yards receiving?
Speaker 3 (32:40):
Like yeah, I mean he's been a disappearing act. Staked
a lot of claim on him despite the bad offensive line,
and it's just been a disaster left and right. And
this game was just a joke. So Denver's peaking. Now
you got JK. Dobbins first Bronco's running back with a
one hundred yard game and thirty eight games.
Speaker 1 (32:58):
Wow, first time since Terrell Davis in nineteen ninety nine.
Speaker 3 (33:02):
Whether it's still only good for I think twenty ninth
in fantasy because he since Orlandis Gary ran for one
hundred yards back in Remember when everybody kept calling him
Gary orl oh that it is? Remember when they would
that was when they were just when direct dates got
hurt and the next guy was Mike Anderson.
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Anderson, Sure, all those guys the mile high salute. You
have one thousand yards for everybody exit out bout a
fresca exit swollen dome. Now, if you think that I've
been a little upset tonight because of the Mets and
the Jets.
Speaker 3 (33:28):
Who It's good content. Check out the podcast all four hours.
Speaker 1 (33:31):
I am nowhere near the most upset person after Monday
night football. Wait do we tell you what one coach
said following the game tonight? That's next Jason and Mike
