What an epic failure by the NCAA. They dragged their feet for three years & STILL couldn't get enough proof of a scandal that needed to be addressed in a strong way. Neither side looks good in this. The silver lining is that at least this thing is over.

and I love putting this content and out for you
every single night. And speaking of great content, the biggest
baseball series of the year just ended Game one, Padres

(01:10):
Dodgers now a tie in first place in the West
as the Dodgers hold on against the Padres three to two. Now,
before we get to the Dodgers, let me just say this, right, yes,
everything you would think about this game right felt like
a playoff game. Both teams now have identical records. Again,
biggest series in baseball this year by far, and nothing

(01:32):
else is even close. Before you get to the Dodgers again,
we talked a lot about relief pitching in the last
week with the Padres and La because both of their
bullpens are front and center. Mason Miller's eighth inning for
the Padres is as filthy and dominant an inning as

(01:52):
you will see from a relief pitcher this year. He
had the top of the Dodgers order he and he
made a tie look like O'tani was overmatched, like he
could not catch up to his stuff. And he strikes
out Otani. And you don't see Otani with that big, big, strong,
like everything into its swing where I'm waving at an

(02:13):
outside pitch that's on the black, like he made O'tani
look absolutely overmatched. Right, Mookie bets on a week ground out,
Will Smith strikes out looking on a pitch where Will
Smith just sees it break and goes yep, nop, Okay,
what am I gonna do? Walks right off the field
like yep, he got me, and Miller was pumped up,
and I thought to myself, this is why you put

(02:34):
this guy out there in the eighth inning, that dominant
eighth inning. This is where the Padres get a bunch
of energy. In the top of the ninth, they put
some runners on and get something going. Now the Dodgers
able to close it out. But I mean it like
I've seen Edwin Diaz have ninth innings where it's everything
is ninety eight, ninety nine and it's strikeout, strikeout, strikeout,
but not nearly as dominant to where it didn't look

(02:55):
like that. And these are three of the best hitters
in the game, right You got Otani and Will Smith
who's hitting one of the few guys hitting over three
hundred in the National League, and Mookie Betts having a
bad year but still a terrific player, and he made
them look like it was the bottom of the order.
That was an incredible eighth inning for Mason.

Speaker 3 (03:11):
Miller no came in pumped up, and certainly we've seen
some great performances from him. Why he becomes the big
acquisition that they said Hey, We'll give up a bunch
of our minor league guys to go get to four
to five things. And it's great. That means there was
no more bleeding. Fourteen pitches, nine for strikes. But in
the end the Dodgers, on the strength of Clayton Kershaw

(03:32):
and five relievers are able to get it done.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Yeah. Does this you know?

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Is it a foreshadowing of what we're going to see
down the stretch, this battle back and forth because of
the strength of the bullpen. You're damn right. This is
game one of six over the next ten to eleven days. Right,
you got that Colorado series in the middle, but back
to back weekends with the Padres and Dodgers getting it together.
This is everything you could hope for baseball. I'd be

(04:00):
remiss if I didn't bring up show how Tani again
because you mentioned swinging from his heels and something Frostburg
and I have talked about the last couple of weeks
just watching him. I think he was inspired by Happy
Gilmour too, because he's been swinging out of his shoes
quite regularly. Month the month of August, Jason, He's got
nineteen strikeouts and forty eight at bats yeah, Yeah, he's

(04:23):
had a very He's in a very Pete Crow Armstrong
month so far.

Speaker 1 (04:27):
Hey Armstrong, kro Armstrong. Actually he would no, but he
was three for three with three strikeouts tonight. Who did
he did? Stop? Lindor had a home run? Stop stop stops.

Speaker 3 (04:38):
By the way the whow Hey your your dad jinxed you?

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Yeah? The streak, Yeah, our streak is now back to zero.
Yeah had Otani tonight he was over three and a
walk so some no hour, we're back to zero with
our MLB the streak.

Speaker 3 (04:53):
Thing, So the race to five and a half million
will take a little longer.

Speaker 1 (04:57):
Yeah, my dad. Well, now now I have a longer
streak of wearing my underwear on the right side than
I do the streak at MLB, because it's one day
for me wearing my underwear the right way, zero days
of the streak.

Speaker 3 (05:11):
I'm just gonna leave all the jokes to write themselves
at swallow a Dome at how about a Fresco at
Fox Sports Radio and the visual that Jason just gave
you a probably launched you laid into your Friday early
Saturday morning going what the hell did I just hear?

Speaker 1 (05:27):
Now again? Games are one out of one sixty two
generally in Major League Baseball. But as we said tonight,
biggest series in Major League Baseball this year, Padres Dodgers.
And if you want to talk about what could be
a jumping off point for the Dodgers, right, they close
out this game and win it three to two, Like,
that's great. They've been stumbling, they've been looking for answers

(05:47):
in their bullpen, and they haven't been hitting, and it's
not been great for LA. They close out this game tonight,
Blake Trining comes in, throws one pitch in the bottom
of the eighth inning, gets out of a jam, gets
a fly out to centerfield to prolong the three two lead. Obviously,
Roberts didn't want him to have to come back still
coming off the injury, so the ninth inning was entrusted

(06:07):
to Alexis Daz and Jack Dryer. Right, this is who
had the ninth inning for the Dodgers. This is exactly
how they drawn up in the beginning of the year. Yeah,
we had all our bullpen, it's gonna be great. We're
gonna have so many guys that can close. We got
three closers, and instead it's Alexis Daz with an e
array of over seven and Jack Dryer, and what happened
Alexis Daz looks pretty dominant himself. He gives up a single,

(06:31):
but two big strikeouts. Dryer comes in and gets a
flyout to end the game. And when the Dodgers have
the back end of their bullpen, when you have two
guys you basically just threw out there and hoped could
close out the ninth inning for you. This is one
of those springboard Hey, we just had DZ and Dryer
close out this game, right, two guys that have never
been in that position with us, are not really in

(06:52):
that position. The most stressful game for both of these
guys so far this year. This could be one of
those springboard type games for the Dodgers.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
By the way you look at you know, Jack Dryer.
This was his fiftieth appearance of the year as well.
He started five games. He's got a sub three e
r A.

Speaker 1 (07:09):
Yeah, he's having he's having a good year. But all
of a sudden, Yeah, but all of a sudden, Wait
a minute, I mean the guy had one hold in
the last month and a half. I mean it's not like,
you know, it's it's not like all of a sudden, Hey,
you're our late inning leverage guy. He's a but here's
where that and Dave Roberts was just very Hey, Diz
gets that second strikeout, he walks right out to the mound.
Great job, boom, dryer coming in, no question, No I'm

(07:30):
going to talk to you, No, what are we gonna do?
It was coming out right to dryer for this like
this is this is this bottom of the ninth inning
for the Dodgers. This is this is full of a
lot of juice for them.

Speaker 3 (07:40):
Well, you try to find those jumping off points, because
it's certainly been difficult, uh the last couple of weeks
where they've had their their issues, uh, in trying to
get any semblance of consistency. You watch that lead evaporate,
padres jumping up and now getting chesty again. Those guys
that had that great song from a couple of years ago.

(08:00):
I'm sure working on the reboot and the library down
there will get all chest again. So yeah, all that curiosity,
but I mean it makes for a great Stretcherrun here,
see how Dave Roberts day to day is going to
be able to pull the strings like he did a
year ago.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
Can't wait for game two again, both teams tied at
the top of the NL West. So today we finally
got the big decision with the University of Michigan with
the sign stealing scandal involving former quote coach Connor Stallions.
They're getting a twenty million dollar fine and head coach
Ron Moore's two game suspension this year, which the school said, Hey,

(08:43):
we want to preemptively suspend him for two games. He's
the only coach left that had anything to do with
the sign stealing scandal. We want to suspend him for
two games. The NCAA says, great, he suspended for the
third and fourth game of the season, and he'll get
suspended for the first game of next year. But it
looks like Michigan is looking to fill that opening overseas,

(09:05):
playing Western Michigan in Berlin. Potentially that's the game for
next year. So you know, there's a lot of different
angles on this, But the first one I want to
say is this, who am I most embarrassed for after this?
I'm embarrassed for the NCAAA, yes, embarrassed for Michigan. Yes.
Mostly I'm embarrassed for Nebraska because there is no bit

(09:27):
of evidence you need to show you how far Nebraska
football has fallen than this. Michigan wanted more suspension to
be for games three in game four. Game one is
an easy opener. It's Central Michigan, it's New Mexico, and
then it's a big game against Oklahoma. Right, so we

(09:48):
want you're on more for these games. Right, they want
them for Oklahoma. They don't, They're okay not having him,
and they wanted him to be suspended for Nebraska. This
is all the evidence need that. Wow, Nebraska needs to
look in the mirror and understand that how once proud
we were the rock stars of college football? Wow, are

(10:08):
we embarrassed? Because not only did Michigan say, yeah, we
want our coach to be suspended for your game. You
and Central Michigan we see as the same, right that
you and Central Man, they're the exact sit. We want
you suspended for that game. Not only that, but they
got to watch and Michigan say, yeah, but we really
need our guy for Oklahoma, your biggest rival, for your

(10:30):
entire time, your programs and playing football. We want our
guy for that game, but not for your game. Like,
if you need any more evidence how far Nebraska football
is falling. This is it right here?

Speaker 3 (10:41):
Yeah, it is that curiosity, right, bring up the idea
of when you schedule, and there's a lot to do
with homecoming and all, but historically it was a well
that we want to get into a win, right because
you've got all the alums coming back, We're trying to
get it deep into their pocket. What better way to
do that than win a football game. And then they
go to a already and they get all looped up
on the strength of that, which means we can get into.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
The wall at that much easier.

Speaker 3 (11:05):
So, yeah, it's it's one one of those for Nebraska
that you're now considered to that level. I mean, I
think you're predicted to be in the middle of the
pack for the Big Ten, though, aren't they.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
It doesn't matter. I mean, it doesn't matter.

Speaker 3 (11:22):
Just go to the optics. So this is where we
want to wait with anybody.

Speaker 1 (11:26):
We will, We can wait, doesn't matter. Jason Smith could
coach this team, right, and we're okay with whoever is
going to coach this team because we can beat you, right,
are the same I do great. I would just say, hey,
Bryce Underwood, throw whatever you want, man, you're the starting quarterback.
Do whatever you want worse, Oh, man, I don't know

(11:47):
that you could be worse than fourteen out of sixteen.
I don't know, man, big ten odds.

Speaker 3 (11:51):
They're currently tied for seventh so Ohio State, Penn State, Oregon.
We've talked about them a ton, Michigan the big story
line today plus seven hundred.

Speaker 1 (12:02):
They were in the top half. Okay, USC at.

Speaker 3 (12:05):
Twenty to one, and then you've got Indiana and Nebraska
a thirty five to one, followed by Iowa and Illinois
at forty to one.

Speaker 1 (12:13):
Yeah, I mean, look it's it's they're in the top half.
That's great. But still Michigan said, yeah, we really want
game three in game four? What the hell? Man, Yeah,
we really want game three in game four. Really want that, really.

Speaker 3 (12:24):
Want what I really wish would have happened when all
of this was going down, as we're you know, you
get to do that live looking.

Speaker 1 (12:33):
Hey, let's talk to the.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Coaches at Nebraska as this information comes out. Do you
what do you guys all have to.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
Say about this? Oh? You know, behind closed doors, they're saying,
blank them man, blank, these guys, let's welcome them all.
It's all kinds of stuff, man, Because this is This
is one of the most embarrassing optics you could have
because Matt Rule could get after it too.

Speaker 3 (12:52):
He would give us some stuff right.

Speaker 1 (12:55):
Now, not that I'm not embarrassed, but I'm completely embarrassed
for college football and Michigan because they could have done this.
They could have come up with a penalty that would
have been apropos a couple of years ago. Look, I
say this living in a Michigan house where I'm gonna
sleep next to a Michigan grant tonight and not gonna
sleep with one eye open after I say what I'm
gonna say. They could have They could have done some

(13:17):
sleeping with Benny. I sleep with Benny every night. He
just get I protect Benny like I'm his protector at night,
poor Benny. But no I protect Come on, man, I'm
his god Benny. Come on, no, he's my guy. You're
protecting him. Anytime there's a loud noise outside, I protect him.

(13:38):
But this could have been something that God taken care
of a year plus. It could have got taken care
of when it happened. They could have said, you know what,
sign stealing scandal. You can't win the Big ten. You
can go play in the playoff. But you can't win
the Big Ten. Done last year. You could have said,
can't win the Big Ten ineligible or ineligible from going
to the College Football Playoff last year done. Everything is done,

(14:01):
and it because everybody knows. Look what Michigan did know
obviously what happened was against the rules. You see everything
going on with Connor Steins. They kept it going, but
they couldn't prove it enough. And because college football decided, no,
we're gonna wait and go as long as we can
and see if we can prove it after three years.
It's just embarrassing that it's, hey, here's a fine, and yeah,
two more games for your head coach you were gonna

(14:21):
get anyway. They could have done something strong. The Big
Ten could have done something strong last year when it
was happening. They could have and they didn't. And now
this is what we get, some lame, epic fail from
the NCAAA like that. I'm embarrassed for Michigan because you know,
this is a scandal that I was surprised that this
was a Michigan problem, a Michigan story. But I'm more

(14:42):
embarrassed for the NCAA because they had a long. They
could have easily you put their foot down, planted their
flag into this is what we want to do, and
they didn't. I'm just so embarrassed. Mike so doubtless just
like the dragon. Uh, very nice and TJ clearly how
to train your NCAA investigators to come up with some
big evidence. They couldn't do it. DJ. We have more

(15:05):
on this story coming up next, as well as what
NFL quarterback is absolutely invisible despite the fact he's a
number one overall pick. That's he was it number one overall.
That's I think Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio Benny
Renny can put his and he's on right Bart twice

(15:30):
if he's Betty.

Speaker 2 (15:31):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app HI.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
This is Jay.

Speaker 4 (15:43):
I'm the producer of the Paula and Tony Fusco Show.
Usually in these promos they asked you to listen to
the show. I'm here to ask you please don't listen
to the show. The hosts are two absolute morons who
have the dumbest takes on Sports imaginable. Don't listen to
the show so it can get camps.

Speaker 5 (15:57):
What the hell are you doing out studio, Paulie, Ignore
that fool. Listen to the Pauline twenty footsco Show on
the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
He's still moving.

Speaker 1 (16:13):
Fox Sports Radio The Jason Smith Show with my best
friend Mike Harmon. We'll get to what quarterback, despite the
fact he's the number one overall pick in the draft,
has been absolutely invisible so far this season. But you know,

(16:33):
a little bit more on the Michigan story, because it's
a couple of really insane things that we haven't gotten
into right with the Michigan gets their final penalty today
for the Connor Stallions sign stealing scandal, a twenty million
dollar fine, meaning that by the time this is all over,
and now it is, because this is the final penalties

(16:54):
that Michigan is getting, they're gonna pay about thirty million
dollars in fines. Okay, i'd big neal thirty million dollars. Okay,
sounds big, sounds big, h Twenty million dollars is not
that big a deal. And I think everybody understands that
when that came out, it was okay, right, what did
Dave Portenoy say right away? It's ashtray money, right, Like
it's because he's a big universe, he's a big Michigan guy.

(17:15):
Oh it's ashtray money, and yeah, yes it is. And
I and most people look at the that story that
way because they know, well, it's big college athletics. Of course,
an athletics department like Michigan. Twenty million dollar? Fine, what
is that to them? It is a much different experience,
and you understand just how little this money is when

(17:39):
you actually see the athletics portion of Michigan's campus. And
I was just there three weeks ago, right, We went
on a college tour with Zoe from Michigan. She wanted
to see it. And the entirety of the athletics portion
of the Michigan campus would be a large, big university,
like all of it would fit very comfortably on Michigan's

(18:02):
athletics campus. It is, without a doubt, the most impressive
athletic area of a camp that I've ever seen, right,
I mean, first of all, you get to the athletics
area and the big House is right in front. You
see a huge, huge, signe celebrating the national championship from
a year ago, and everywhere you go in that area
it looks like it's just other parts of the school

(18:25):
and instead, Oh no, this is the headquarters for the
swimming team. Wait, the swimming team has headquarters. Yeah, this
is the field for the field hockey team. You mean
the field hockey team, and what track and field? And no,
just the field hockey team. They have a thirteen thousand
seed stadium whatever it is just for field hockey. Like
that's that's how much money. That's how impressive Michigan is.

(18:47):
I've never seen a campus like it. And I'm not
even talking about baseball and basketball and just everything they have.
We walked away from that and I said to my wife,
I said, the money that people think Michigan has, they
have ten times that to have this sort of campus.
Right Like when we saw Stanford, I was incredibly impressed.
Athletics of Stanford is great. This is just completely on

(19:09):
another level. It's Ohio, I can't I can't say that.
My wife will hear me? No, never have Pam Jason's
been there probably yeah, a couple of times, but I'm
telling you, I have not seen it. And when you
see it, you understand it. Wow, the money that Michigan has,

(19:30):
the money that the sports programs have, how much of
a drop in the bucket. You know, twenty million dollars
is for the University of Michigan.

Speaker 3 (19:38):
Oh, but that's it based on you know, the reports
that they're operating expenses each of the last two years.

Speaker 1 (19:43):
We're talking under ten percent and stuff. With the large.

Speaker 3 (19:47):
Alumni base that you have, including you know, several guys
that are running NFL squads, they could shuffle this off
like you use the Portnoy reference. I mean, there's so
many guys that that can come out and women that
can come out of the woodwork and just say, okay,
we take care of that.

Speaker 1 (20:03):
We'll go celebrate our national title again.

Speaker 3 (20:06):
Or hey, anybody want to come and have a nice
picture with the trophy at this exclusive event and you
bust out all your favorite guys, Your guy Charles Woodson
will show up wearing an ascot and everybody will be
ready to go.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
And that's the end of it. Right, There's it's.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
Money, like you chuckle right in this day and age,
that's the big penalty.

Speaker 1 (20:32):
Recruiting stuff and visits.

Speaker 3 (20:34):
Oh you could do that all online or you know,
you're getting everybody saying, hey, we'd like to be part
of that.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Anyway.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
They're coming to you, right, you know, you can do
it all virtually anymore in terms of replenishing your skill
position players. The network is just so large that in
this day and age, it's none of these have the
same impact as penalties that you would have had a
deck ago. You talk about the largess of facilities, Yeah,

(21:04):
to be big time in college athletics anymore.

Speaker 1 (21:08):
I mean it's like.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
Creating your own mini city within a city. You know,
you mentioned a couple of these Ohio states, Stanford. Hell,
look what Northwestern's built along the lakefront, right, I mean,
it's it's just a different world. And what they're doing
in Evanston with the facilities and the money that's run
in you win a couple of years, donations flow your
Syracuse Orange. They'll be getting into your pocket pretty soon

(21:31):
if this guy's any good with any holding power.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
I mean living in my pocket for years. Man, are
you kidding my pocket since I went there? No?

Speaker 3 (21:39):
No, no, no, no, I'm talking about you know, big shot
you know talents as you call yourself, Jason Smith. They're
coming after you for a different thing. Your loan payments
were one thing. Now it's getting into your pocket. It's
prominent of numb who wants to propel the school to greatness.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
Now it's easy for me to say, I think I
gave you way more then. Uh then I got out
of it, so I think we're even. That's what I
would say to them. I gave it. I gave you way.
There's parts of that campus I never even visited. I
paid a lot of money to go there back in
the nineties. Si, Now I think you did okay for me,
I think you did all.

Speaker 3 (22:13):
Hell, we were held up in your room hungover playing
video games. That's not their fault.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
This, it's their fault. When the beer is that cheap,
of course, that's their fault. You want to stop and
make beer really expensive, then all of a sudden things
will be different America, all the sudden, all of a sudden. Hey,
wait a minute, that could be it right there. We
just have to raise the price. Here's how we knocks
him out. No, no, hey, listen, I had one night

(22:39):
drinking zema and that was the only night I ever
had drinking zema. Light ice, no, no, no, yeah, no, I
think I went full zema. I was full zema that way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
yeah yeah. Is that the first time you had your
underwear on backwards?

Speaker 4 (22:56):
No?

Speaker 1 (22:57):
I remember the one night I had zema when when
this girl that I thought I was gonna start dating
and called me say, hey, come, there's this to this
whatever bar. It was, Oh, they're having a zema knite
and I'm like, oh cool, And I had no idea
what that was. And I'm like, are people gonna be
in togas? Like I don't know what this is? Like, Okay,
I'm gonna meet you at zema knit so I so
I go and it's just oh, it's this drink. Oh okay, fine,

(23:20):
So I go in. I'm like, wow, this is sweet
and it's oh that everybody's drinking it. Okay, then all right?
This is That was my only zema night.

Speaker 3 (23:28):
Is I always having like a kilt where you don't
wear underwear underneath, you would have been saved from all
of your embarrassment.

Speaker 1 (23:35):
Now he wore him just backwards. Mike, Hey, you want
to you want to get on you want to get
on my case about s Let me let me tell
you something. Coming over here and my kilts I'm gonna
tell you something here with my bagpipes out say you know,
uh yeah, one one night with Ema. One night with Ema,
he wants that backwards vast as he can. That's That's

(23:56):
the same of my autobiography. One night was Eema and
backwards underwear. That's now. Look, the other thing for this story,
and I really find this hard to believe, is that
the NCAA basically ran the line after that we knew
there was a crime committed, we just couldn't prove it
to the point where we could levy a big punishment, right,

(24:16):
Like you see that from many lawyers say that, or
law firms say that when they they have a high
profile case where they lose, where the defendant gets off,
and they say, well, you know, we knew something really bad.
Everybody knows, we just didn't have the evidence to prove it, right.
I feel like that's the NCAAA. And and look for
the fact that Connor Stallion's in a fly by night
We're gonna make it up as we go along, Operation

(24:38):
outsmarted You Like, wow, I want the NCAA to investigate
me if I ever do anything wrong. The whole thing
for Connor Stallions was it came down to he said
he had everything on his phone right and there was
no backups. He didn't back it up on a cloud
or anything else. Didn't have anything on his phone, and
he threw his phone in the lake. So when he
got rid of his phone, when this scandal was really

(25:01):
going up and they wanted stuff from him, he threw
his phone in a lake, and that was it. They
couldn't get anything else out of him. And I know, Mike,
I know, I've seen a lot of TV shows. I've
seen stuff go on. I've seen people do it, whether
it's legal or just not super legal, where they pull
stuff off phones all the time. We have your text messages,
we have what was sent, we have this. I think

(25:22):
that stuff always gets backed up someplace, even if they
don't do it. So I don't know how they didn't
have evidence on here. I know TV shows all the
time they were able to, Oh yeah, we'll get that.
Just give us a day, give us a day, and
we'll get all the texts, we'll get the pictures, we'll
get every we'll get that all off there. I can't believe,
and especially with everybody else that he talked to, that
was there was a lot of people involved in this

(25:42):
that his friends that they had phones and they were
getting a video of the signals and and everything else
they got they got video of they were able to
know all of that. The nca couldn't get any of that.
They pulled stuff off phones all the time, Mike Harmon
all the time.

Speaker 3 (25:56):
Well, my favorite was schreil Moore saying, well, I don't
have those messages, those fIF two messages because I had
to delete him to free up space on my phone.

Speaker 1 (26:03):
Yeah, you could get that. Yeah, you know.

Speaker 3 (26:07):
Look, what the NCAA doesn't have is subpoena power, and
they're never gonna you know that that's a boring little
legalize thing that you know, to add to a movie
or television. Were don't have the subpoena, it's like, you know, wait, waiting,
waiting for the warrant. Now we're just gonna go inside.
We'll get that figured out afterwards. And then it becomes
a sticking point. How gonna Law and Order episodes? Did

(26:27):
Jerry Orbach have to hold the bag because they couldn't
wait two seconds? Or he's jamming in uh into a
lock something to preclude someone from going in and destroying
potential evidence all of those things to say, Dennis Farina,
I mean, just go on down the line. They all
had to do the same thing. In this particular case.
It's just kind of funny of yeah, well, we don't

(26:47):
have subpoena power, so that's kind of the end of it,
you know.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
But they couldn't get it from anybody, couldn't get from
a nothing from anywhere, anybody's phone, nothing up. Basically the
entire case was on was on Connor Stallion's phone. And
because he threw in a lake, they that was it.
That was the end. That's how smart he had to be.
I threw my phone in a lake. Oh no, that
did it.

Speaker 3 (27:05):
Could but they couldn't compel him to turn everything else over. Right,
In all those legal legal series and cop dramas, you know,
we go from A to C.

Speaker 1 (27:15):
Right, it's the old underwear.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
See, I'm gonna tie it all together, the underpants gnomes
in south Park. Step one, steel underpants, Step two, giant
question marks, step three profit. You gotta figure out what
that second step is. And all these cop dramas how
they got that information, whether it was through legal means
of waiting on the subpoena, we never know if there's
twenty four hours elapse two weeks. We just know that

(27:39):
now you got a guy and you're sweating them under
the lights and threatening him with the needle. See, I'm
bringing all our cop dramas in now. I love the
fact that you've got this line. Michigan's repeat violator status,
coupled with Level one aggravated case classification sufficient grounds for
a multi year postseason ban. However, play the violins. The
panel determined a postseason band would unfairly penalize student athletes

(28:03):
for the actions of coaches and staff who are no
longer associated with the Michigan football program. I don't know,
except for the head coach who's only got to serve
a three game suspension over two years, and you just
kind of shrug and he's like, never mind that this
is the way we've been doing business for the last
couple of decades. We're over here fighting fires about nil.

(28:24):
So we're just going to consider this done.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Chexit out about a Fresca exit swollen down The Jason
Smith Show with Mike Carmon, a quarterback proving that he
is like cell A Fane because apparently he's invisible. Coming
up in ninety seconds. But first let's find out what's
trending in the wide world of sportsman. Guy who said,
you know what, let's give it Lexus Diaz the first
two batters of the ninth inning. Then get him out
of there. It's Steve Desager.

Speaker 6 (28:47):
Let have a Vikes. The Dodgers beat the Padres three
to two, and those two teams are tied for first
again in the NLS. This ended San Diego's five game
winning streak. Veteran Clayton Kershaw got the victory. Evan in
two went six innings, allowed just one run two hits
in his seventy six pitches. Dodger third baseman Max Munsey
was placed on the aisle with a strained oblique. A's

(29:10):
over the Angels ten to three, Colorado edged Arizona four
to three, and Tampa Bay with a run top of
the ninth one at San Francisco seven to six. The
Giants continue to fall. They've lost six straight. The Yankees
held on for a four to three win at Saint Louis,
victories for Detroit and Kansas City, wins for Atlanta and Baltimore,
which won seven nothing at Houston, and the o's winning

(29:31):
pitcher Brandon Young, who was zero to six, had a
perfect game going until allowing an infield single with two
outs in the eighth. Houston's offense went one for twenty eight.
Houston closer Josh Hayter, with the strange shoulder is shut
down for about three weeks. Boston, on a run in
the bottom of the ninth, beat Miami two to one.
Toronto six to five over Texas with four runs in

(29:52):
the bottom of the eighth. Seattle beat the Mets eleven
nine in New York the loss to Ryan Helsley. Mets
have lost fourteen of sixteen. Raleigh at his forty sixth homer.
He has one hundred RBIs. Philadelphia won six to two
at Washington. Kyle Schwarber swad at his forty third home run,
but Phil's closers Joan Durant left hit in the ankle

(30:13):
a line drive. He was carted off X rays negative.
Pittsburgh today won at three to two at Wrigley Field
against the Cubs with a solo homer top of the ninth. Tonight,
Milwaukee won again. They were down eight to one in
the second inning, but still beat the Reds in Cincinnati
ten to eight. Christian Yelich four hits, five RBIs, including
two solo homers save to Trevor McGill. In the NFL,

(30:35):
we had two exhibitions this evening. Tennessee was a winner
at Atlanta twenty three. Twenty Titans led six to three
late in the first half. Falcons quarterbacks Michael Pennix and
Kirk Cousins did not play Easton stick through a pick six,
did have a fifty two yard touchdown pass in the win.
Titans first round quarterback cam Ward just two of seven,
passing forty two yards, most of that on the first pass.

(30:57):
He played. Three series In Seattle, Sam Arnold played one series,
four for four, passing thirty four yards. Seahawks whipped Kansas
City thirty three sixteen, Drew Locke with two touchdown passes
in the second quarter. On the ground, Seattle has a
team forty eight carries two hundred and sixty eight yards rushing.
There were a combined eleven kickoffs and only one touchback.

(31:19):
With the new rule, most teams play on Saturday Sunday
night on Fox TV Buffalo at Chicago. Jacksonville wide receiver
Travis Hunter might miss the Sunday game at New Orleans
with an upper body injury. Michigan will appeal its latest
NCAA punishment, including fines after the sign stealing scandal. Ole
Miss gave defensive coordinator Pete Golding a three year extension.

(31:40):
In the WNBA's two late games. Narrow wins for Seattle
playing in Vancouver eighty to seventy eight over Atlanta, Las
Vegas and eighty six eighty three winner at Phoenix, Asia
Wilson thirty points, sixteen rebounds. Sebastian Muno shot fifty nine
to open the live golf event in Indianapolis. Robert McIntyre
leeds by five strokes. In Maryland. Scottie Scheffler is in

(32:02):
second place.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
Back to you, Thank you, Steve O. You know, look tonight,
two games in the NFL, and we'll get to the
guy with the most pressure on him coming up in
a few minutes. But cam Ward started tonight for Tennessee.
Look good on the first drive, led Tennessee down to
a score. Didn't look so great the rest of the
first quarter. When he played, he says, it's good, he's
getting reps. I am not a lot of stunts to

(32:25):
the NFL like I am stunned that he is basically invisible.
This is a quarterback who is the number one overall
pick in the draft, and it's like he doesn't exist.
And usually in the NFL we find you everywhere. Your
number one pick, you're exciting. Look, I've seen sa him
play a lot at Miami. He's a terrific quarterback. All
the games he brought them from behind last year. He's electric,

(32:45):
he's fun, and it's like he just doesn't exist. He
is not part of the national conversation at all. It's
like ninety nine point nine percent shador standers and the
only point one percent for cam Ward is because we're
just talking about him right now.

Speaker 3 (33:01):
I got to think that there's a lot of greatness
in his world that he's able to just operate with
just the local media, right I mean, we're talking about
a lot of X number ones that are that are
trying to make their hay. Between Caleb Williams and Trevor Lawrence.
You look over the veterans that have sucked up a
lot of the oxygen, Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers over

(33:22):
the offseason, all the contract issues, Jerry Jones and miracle
cures and all of that stuff. I mean, there's a
million other things. So yeah, you get to go be
a Tennessee Titan and go just live in anonymity. That's
a pretty good place to be. It's probably your best
learning environment. You don't have the nonsense going on with
Shadora Sanders. You don't have the question. You heard Steve

(33:43):
de Sager's update. He just referenced Travis Hunter as an
upper body injury. What is he playing hockey?

Speaker 1 (33:48):
I mean it's upper by flower body. That's that's all
organic here. Pll exit out about a fresco exit swalling?
Do him? Coming up next? Yes, Week two of the
NFL preseason. The big week gets going in mass tomorrow.
What player has the most pressure on him for Week two?

(34:11):
The answer is going to stun you. That's next right here,
Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio. It's not Aaron Rodgers.
How do you know it? Because it's not. Oh.
