The way tire buying should be National champions Failures of
Bee him have you grasping for whatever you can clawd
the Weeds basketball team one tonight to you. Ain't ever
said a damn thing about a soccer team doesn't matter.

(01:05):
You haven't even celebrated the properly the lacrosse brilliance of
Jim Brown. No Jim Brown are the ten championships and
that sport. It's kind of been a drought for US
the last few years. I gotta say Gary Gates gotta
get that program going the Syracuse. But hey, national champions

(01:26):
in soccer, and that's a big deal. Champship and soccer,
it's a big deal. I celebrate the whole catalog. It's
not like winning it's some crazy sport anybody can win
at like baseball and football. Soccer is a tough and
win at. Man, huh, especially when it's got to go
to yes seven six and end of regulation and stoppage

(01:50):
and all that fun stuff and exciting game, get to penalties.
I look at U c l A women winning last
week and now Syracuse men win this week. Controversial goal
and there was just that goal he got. Normally there's
a whistle and that stops. I just kind of wish
that the National Championship and soccer. When you look at

(02:12):
the fans and it didn't look like a well attended
high school game on a Friday night. Man, No, it's hard.
There was like a dozen when Indiana almost scored in
extra time to to win it, and the ball they're like,
I'm like, there's like, you know what, though, show the

(02:33):
love for those nationally televised National champions it's a championship.
Got the ship. I'm got the ship. I'm excited. Now
they should have inspired behind Andrew. Hey, hey, no, we
won three in a row. We beat Georgetown on Saturday.
I got a feeling but well, I don't know the
Jets losing on Sunday, but I got a feeling like

(02:53):
my sports karma is starting to ye and yang because
I had, okay, well beat Georgetown, which is awesome, which
the best days of my life, my wedding, my daughter
being born. Any day we beat Georgetown, it's exciting. Uh.
And then when the national Championship, Now when and and
they went tonight, and it's that's just spending a lot
of money, and we're not done. But but the Patriots
won tonight so much so that that's kind of a

(03:15):
kick in the teeth because now they're they're up there
at seven and six, and yeah, and they had the
Raiders this week. Yeah, but and and we're trading them
Zack Wilson to be quarterback this week. So there's that.
I think he could win with Zack Wilson, you know,
he probably could. Well. Not a day for exachly, you
know what they did they ran the ball, and then

(03:35):
they ran it again and again and again. It's a
perfect quarterback rating because Zach Wilson in today's thirty five
seven win was one out of one for eighteen Young
threw a little shovel pass that the one of the
Harrises took for you know, it's you remember the game
last year when when Belichick had Mac Jones throw the
ball three times and they won. If he had Zack Wilson,

(03:56):
it would they would be less throws than that, he'd say,
He'd say, remember that in that game we won where
the quarterback through three passes in the game. Yeah, that's
gonna look like a Dak Prescott game compared to what
we're gonna have for you. Gonna. I just I always
have to defend Bill Belichick in this in this process,
because people just take the negative approach and in the game, Yeah,

(04:17):
so what was it wrong? It doesn't you don't have
to like it. It doesn't have to be aesthetically pleasing,
do you. Many of these games of this season have
been abhorrent disasters to our eyes and psychees for three
plus hours, yet we watched them and say give me more, please. Yeah,
we're gonna pick that one out and say, oh, that

(04:38):
was really crazy, that's terrible. I'm doing it because I can,
but nobody else does it. I'm gonna do it because
I can't. It worked. But I do want to say
this because now again, where isaig when you think I'm
gonna zag? Uh? The Patriots winning tonight again. They beat
the Cardinal. We talked about Kyler Murray a few minutes ago.
The Patriots back in playoff spot in the a f C.

(04:59):
But lots of teams are seven and six. There's a
month left to go. There's a long way to go.
But here here's my question, real quick, Raiders, do they
were not? They respond like the Titans do where they
roll and roll over and show their exposed their soft underbelly. Right,
they fired their GM and they got absolutely trucked by

(05:19):
a Jacksonville squad that you know we've looked at and say, well,
they're better than their record. And then they got bludgeoned.
You know, after all that and malcontented dis guys in
the locker room, Hey he wasn't playing. We sucked. Whatever
do the Raiders after losing the Baker Mayfield say, we
were beaten by the best and rally or are they
done now? Now you know my philosophies. Whatever I think
about the Raiders, I say the opposite. Okay, so I

(05:43):
think there's no way the Raiders bounce back because it
was such an awful loss. In there, you're looking at
a team that the guy that's defensive genius, which tells me, yes,
the Raiders bounce back in a big way. Give me
the Raiders this week. I'm all in on the Raiders.
There's that is the best Costanza impression you have ever done.

(06:04):
The Raiders look awful, They're gonna get they should get
tanked by the Patriots. Never gonna give me the Raiders
all week because the Raiders gonna raider. Be sure to
catch live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike
harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern seven pm Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio app. But no,
what I do give the Patriots credit for because they

(06:27):
are better than this and any team for the last
twenty years, and you didn't notice it so much when
they were a super Bowl team every year because you know,
you had Brady, you were winning, you were the better
team on the field, and the vast majority of games.
But look at the games the last couple of years
the Patriots are playing. The only games the Patriots lose
is when they're playing a team that's better than them. Right,

(06:49):
I'm gonna get to a deeper point than I will.
When they're playing a team their talent level is not great, right,
it's it's a it's middle of the pack at best.
When they play a team that's better than they are,
they lose because as great a head coach is Bill Belichick, is,
the talent level of the other great teams are too
Bigcause in the end, you can scheme up all you want,
you still gotta get out there and play, and when

(07:10):
you have the better players, you're going to win those games. Right.
But now, but think about this, and this is what
I mean about the Patriots, that that they do better
than anybody else. Last twenty years. There is never a
game where the Patriots are flat. There is never a
game where they come in against a team that's as
good as they are or that they should beat. That's
a trap game. And they don't have a great effort,

(07:32):
they don't have a great game plan, they don't come
in with anything less than we are taking care of
business and winning this bleeping game, because that's a game
like tonight, You're coming into Arizona and Arizona stinks. What
are we gonna do? They lose their quarterback, maybe we
get a little bit lax, we lose our star running back.
We're still gonna throw guys out there and they're all

(07:53):
ready to make plays. Right. They lose Romandre Stevenson early
in this game, doesn't matter. Pierre Strong goes in for
a touchdown as a forty five yard run. Kevin Harris
has a touchdown, and it's just what doesn't matter, next
man up. The Patriots, there's no such thing as being flat.
There's no such thing as a trap game. They are
always prepared, they always execute, and they never have a

(08:13):
moment where, you know what, we just weren't sharp enough
in this game against teams they are equal to, and
teams they should beat. They win all those games. There's
never a hey boy, the Patriots. They just didn't show
up for this one. Because most teams have one or
two games a year where you come out flat and
you go that was one we should have had. We
really just didn't. We were at our best today, and
it happens a couple of times a year. It never

(08:33):
happens to the Patriots every game they're supposed to win
or they did. There it's a it's a toss up.
They wind up winning. Because of that, there's never and
there there's always a take care of business mentality, no
matter who was out there, who was playing. As bad
as mac Jones is, as bad as mac Jones is,
as bad as mac Jones is, as bad as mac
Jones is, they still wind up doing this. And I

(08:55):
give them a ton of credit for that because now
you're seeing it. You didn't see it when they had
Brady and they all this talent Hall of Fame talent supers, like, Okay,
they're the better team eighty five or nine percent of
the games, and so they're gonna win all those games.
Now they're the better teament of the time maybe and
and and so it's okay, so that those are the
ones that I mean, maybe maybe they're the better team. Yea,

(09:16):
So those gay they still wind when this is why
they're a five team. They beat the teams they're supposed to.
They never go flat against teams that that are even
in a game like tonight is a perfect example that
here's Arizona on Monday Night football. What are we gonna
get from them? Maybe they're they're jacked up, Maybe they're
in the tank because their season is over and their
quarterback and their head coach, who knows if they're gonna
even be around next year. But the Patriots always have

(09:38):
that take care of business. And I am I am jealous,
and I am envious of that because it's it's year
twenty two of them doing that. You said taking care
of business three times? Are you really begging him to
play again? But Holma, we just did that one causiness, Okay,
one dud, dude. They've lost six games this season, two

(10:02):
two teams in the NFC North that are well trash
in the Bears and Packers. Uh. And then you have
losses early in the season Miami in Baltimore back when
the Packers loss was when Jones got hurt and Zapp
he was thrown in there and three three point loss, right,
But but it's a loss. Nonetheless, it's still to a

(10:22):
bad team. Um the Baltimore game, you lose back when
Lamar Jackson was playing well, back when he was top five,
top seven fantasy quarterback and then he became a jag
and now he's hurt. Uh. And then Minnesota. Nobody's ever
gonna love Minnesota, but they want a lot of games, okay.
And three I don't care. And now they're negative point differential.

(10:46):
But I think there are five teams right now that
would make the playoffs as they currently stand who have
a negative point differential. That's the way the NFL is
this year. And then they lost that game to Buffalo alright,
point being you're usually in games and the rosters the
defense is great, right, eight team point eight points per
game allowed coming into tonight, and look what they were

(11:08):
able to do. They gave up their team points early
and that's it. So bring that average down a little bit.
That's top five in the National Football League. So you're
gonna be in games. And now it's a question of
can you generate enough offense that isn't off the leg
of Nick Folk, And most weeks that's about where they're
the best offensive player Nick Folk, Right, I mean, like tonight,

(11:29):
we're just calling for it and all the fantasy stuff
we did just because the it's captain obvious, throw the
ball to the tight end. They don't defend the tight end.
Mac Jones get the ball to the tight end, little wing,
a little flare outs. I mean the first six team pass.
I don't know what the final result was, but going
in a halftime, the average depth of reception was two yards.

(11:51):
It's okay, you can get a good screen game going.
Part of that, I think it was also Bill Belichick
said we're gonna do this repeatedly, and you're gonna flip
off Vance Joseph the entire time because he made fun
of the offense, uh and how it's structured. And guess
what they won by two touchdowns. Take that Vance Joseph
and the staff. But you look at the roster, construction

(12:13):
is always pretty solid, except well at the wide receiver
and tight end. And Hunter Henry is a guy that
last year a lot of a lot of red zone opportunities.
This year not as many, and he's been banged up
a little bit. John new Smith has been invisible. That's
a lot of money that they spent that didn't work out,
and the receivers that they brought in. It's one of

(12:34):
those overpay situations, not to the level of the Jaguars
when everybody got all freaked out about Christian Kirk's contract.
By the way, he's pretty good. Not to mention that
quarter This is like the eleventh straight show that you said, Hey,
Christian Kirk is pretty good. Yes, we know. No, I
don't think I've referenced. Listen, Phil Simms, we know alright,
we know, we know he's pretty good. I don't referenced,

(12:55):
but he he is the guy that people mocked. But
the Patriots have done to a lesser version, the same
thing of we've got to overpay on guys that maybe
the market isn't that I on because we don't have
wide receivers, and guess what they've missed on pretty much
every one of those guys. So build the GM for
the rest of the roster. I'll trust him to build
the defense that's always going to be in games and

(13:17):
be swarming. I'll trust him to select running backs with
whoever he's working with in the scouting department on that
quarterback fit the suit. But at wide receiver. No, it's
been a disaster, thought DeVante Parker, and he got hurt today,
But I thought he'd be a bigger you know, they
could finally work with him. And I don't bother Nelson

(13:38):
Aguel like you paid him what million dollars a year
to come in, which is now, you know, just middling
wide receiver money under the current market. But to the
same point of he was supposed to be come in
and be a difference maker. What you saw to do that,
I don't know, but you've never really given him enough
targets to really ever try to make that happen. So
that's the area of concern, is the GM part of things.

(14:00):
Check him up once he gets him there. Now you're
in trot. People don't get you twitter it out about
a fresca. Mike ands Swollen dow him The Jason Smith
Show with my best friend Mike Carmon, so that you
know I'm being genuine because I envious of the Patriots
for that for twenty years straight. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Jason Smith Show with Mike Harmon

(14:21):
weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven pm Pacific, Fox Sports
Radio The Jason Smith Show with My best friend Mike
Harmon to Mexico to spend five million dollars to win
the World Series. Tell Allen what if it doesn't work?
Tell Allen, well, then we're out of most of these
deals in a year. So it's okay, you know, I mean,
I nemo, we're stuck in for a while, but most

(14:42):
of the other guys, we want to spend more money.
That's worth billion dollars um. One of the big NFL
stories this week has been what happened to Mike White
during that game against the Bills. He just got I

(15:03):
mean the second hit. I wouldn't have been surprised if
his body just split like in the middle. Oh man.
And I'll tell and I'll be honest with you here
because it's where I was going to think I'm gonna zag.
Mike White was as good as he could be yesterday,
didn't get protected a lot, and was incredibly tough coming back.
I didn't think he'd come back to the locker room

(15:23):
like Willis Reid going ah here he come now. But
then the Jets just fumble. They cattle onto the football
and and Jet's gonna Jet. I love Mike White, all right.
He's absolutely the guy. He needs to be the quarterback
for the rest of the season. Players rally around him.
They love him. He's tough. It's cool, but I'm giving
you my butt. He is a band aid to save

(15:46):
this season. He's not a guy that's gonna be a
long term guy. He's a bad unless they win the
Super Bowl, and hey, Mike White's what does it? But
I'll be serious about this for a second. He's a
band aid to try to save the season. Because the
Jets got good a lot fast so than they thought.
I don't even think they thought they'd be this domint.
They probably thought they'd be good next year in in
and being a leader for a playoff spot. But not

(16:07):
only they contending for a playoff spot. Now, they're one
of the best defenses in the NFL. They've come together faster.
They have everything but a quarterback. They have a great defense,
They have depth on the defensive line, they got a
great secondary. They got a really good offensive line. About
how many guys keep getting hurt, they keep playing well.
They have enough weapons on offense. Garrett Wilson's gonna be
a star. They've got guys who can run the football.

(16:28):
Whether it's Breecee Hall or No alazon A Midnight doesn't matter. Right,
they need a quarterback. The end of this season, they're
going to go absolutely overboard and all out for a
new quarterback. Everyone is gonna be on the table. You
will see the Jets linked and talking with the Ravens
for Lamar Jackson, Ryan Tannehill, Aaron Rodgers, Derek Carr, everybody

(16:51):
will be available to them because they absolutely have to
get a quarterback. There's no choice, there's no because they
have everything else, the pressure to say, we can't give
another see he's in away. We gotta get the quarterback position, right, Well,
we can't go draft a guy because we just drafted
Zack Wilson. It didn't work and he's only been with
the team two years. Um, we gotta go get somebody,
and they will be linked with every quarterback and they

(17:12):
are so desperate they will get a big name quarterback
for next year because they are a quarterback away from
being a dominant team. So as as great as Mike
White is, look I love the guy. He's you know,
he's fun. He has the office. Look at the last
couple of games. The offense is stunk, right, and the
defense has carried them to two games they should have won. Right.
They control the Vikings offense the entire game. They can't

(17:34):
get in the end zone. They hold the Bills to
twenty points. Again, they hold the Bills to twenty points
or less, and they can't get in the end zone
and win, and they turn the ball over. It's a
little frustrating. And Mike White's not a guy that's throwing
for four hundred yards every week, right, So he's a
band aid for this year. But then I'm telling you
in the off season, they are gonna be linked with
every quarter. They're gonna be the Pete Davidson of the NFL.

(17:54):
Where every week to be linked with somebody else, somebody else,
somewe else, someone else, someone else, somebody Aaron Rodgers charming.
Everybody says, oh yeah, Pee, it's really funny. That's why
all these hot women dat him. And I'm going, I'm
pretty funny. I was pretty funny growing up. I'm pretty funny.
Now I'm a clown. I'm here to I'm usual. I'm
pretty funny. I have supermodels call him. You just gotta

(18:17):
put yourself out there. Dr Pam just say, hey, we're
living l a. Listen, I'm gonna date Emily Radikowski for
a little while and then uh, Kim Kardashian and then okay,
So just so you know, when you see them at
the house, you understand she might be okay with it.
You never know, you know what. The only way you
never find out is if you you don't ask right,

(18:42):
you don't know what's possible. I mean, what's the worst.
You could say no for the Jet because he's got
a lot of If I lose that, that's a big loss.
That's not like just a lot, it's a big loss.
But but it would just be her saying no and
then laughing at you. So you would still be funny. See,
you would still get your end games. I don't know.

(19:04):
I don't know about that. I don't like the Jets.
And as they try to court a quarterback, part of
it is you know, what kind of package could you
put together? I'm choosing my words carefully to procure said
quarterback right because Lamar Jackson seems destined for a franchise
tag based on the way Bashatti has talked about contracts,
particularly going back to Deshaun Watson's and that kind of money.

(19:28):
And while it may be interpreted as being specific to
Watson given his off field issues, I think it was
more a blanket statement of two or thirty million. We
want to do that, especially, I mean, Lamar Jackson has
been hurt. He's hurt again. Right now, you know you're
you're hitting the point where maybe he doesn't get the
full shelf life of Cam Newton. Go back to Aaron Rodgers.

(19:50):
Now it's gonna be it's either him or me. So
it's either Aaron Rodgers or do you like what you
see from Jordan's loved in the limited opportunities if he's
gonna be on the trademark because there was a report
today that if Aaron Rodgers coming back, then obviously Jordan
Love wants to get traded. Uh. But it is that
got in circumstance and Derek Carr was that interception, the

(20:12):
thing that that kills you, especially when Baker Mayfield drives
nine yards. Now that we're a million other things and
mistakes made by the Raiders and their ineffective play calling, execution,
and they're coaching. He just doesn't. So you go on
down the line, Kyler Murray before he got hurt, because
there's a lot of names that could be out there,

(20:33):
Jimmy Garoppolo maybe as a guy you take a shot
on because you can get him at a discount coming
off another injury. And you keep Mike White around because
he's ready to break. Laughing about that, they would keep him,
but it would be somebody else could going, Hey, Mike,
we're going bigger to someone else, someone else. Look, they're
let's see hang on, well, you know that's gonna be

(20:54):
a hot rumor for like a day. Oh, Brady would
go to the Jets, but not that Brady is not
King of New York. And I, honestly, I don't know
that I want Brady? Do I really want Brady? For
a year? One year? With those pieces? No, I can no, no,
I can't do it. Maybe they will land on Zanovan
to be their next star running back. Can you convinced

(21:15):
Gronk to come back and play for the Jets? Twitter
about a Fresca? Mike gets swollen? Do them the Jason
